Investigation to Find Out Whether Light Distribution...
Investigation to find out whether light distribution affects the abundance of daisy s on The Downs
School playing field, Compton.
Hypothesis: As the light intensity goes up the abundance of daisy s on The Downs School field will
also increase.
Equipment:
10 meter tape measure
light intensity meter
Identification key
Thermometer
soil depth spike
PH Probe
quadrat 0.5 by 0.5
Method:
1. Line up the tape measure from the chosen tree on the ground.
2. Place the quadrat on the ground next to the tape measure at 0cm
3. Count the number of squares in the quadrat where part of a daisy is present
4. Take the light intensity after each count of daisy s has being taken.
5. Move the quadrat to 1 meter and measure from 1 to 1.5 ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We will take 3 measurements of how deep the soil is in 3 different places to get an overall average.

Season Because the experiment is only take place in 1 hour the season will not affect the results. If I
had a whole year to carry this experiment out I would do the experiment throughout different seasons
to see what affect the seasons has on the results.
Soil PH I will measure the soil PH in 5 different places to get an accurate and reliable results.

In transect 1 quadrat number 3 there is an anomaly, the sequence is broken 81, 82, 89, 84, this could
have been because Shelby pointed the light meter up into the sky instead of the 90 degree angle. If I
had more time then we would have repeated this result. Most of the other results are accurate and
reliable because looking at the graph there are no completely out of place results, there are a few that
do not fit with the line of best fit very well but ecology is very hard to get perfect as you cannot make
the environment do what you want to do. Some of the light measurements may not be accurate
because when we did the experiment the light was changing and was very unpredictable, sometimes
the sun would go behind a cloud which meant the light measurement would be low when actually

The Transcontinental Railroad
America s Transcontinental Railroad
Since the beginning of recorded history, mankind has been caught in the middle of being frightened by
the unknown and having an intense desire to explore and conquer it. The magnetic draws of potential
land, wealth, and happiness have been perpetually found in juxtaposition against the possibilities of
exotic foes, disease, and ultimate death. The concept of the desire to command the unknown frontier is
clearly seen in mid
nineteenth century America, and has been revered as a foundational pillar of
American spirit. The westward expansion of early America was influenced by a multitude of factors
and is known in history as a crucial base to the growth of the political and economic superpower

Transcontinental Railroad, and is seen by many as the foundation for today s West. However, the
effects of the Gold Rush were localized to the Western States, particularly California. The countrywide
effects of the Transcontinental Railroad strongly contrast the localized impacts of the Gold Rush,
making the Transcontinental Railroad far more impactful on Westward Expansion due to the fact that
its impact was seen in Eastern and Western

Persuasive Essay On Mental Health
It was October 1, 2017, at the Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada that Stephen Paddock
fired upon a concert, resulting in hundreds killed and wounded altogether (Fox). Going back further to
2011, Jared Lee Loughner killed six and injured twelve, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford
(Moon 209). As more and more mass shootings emerge, it s unfortunate to think such tragedies could
be avoided by involuntarily committing the perpetrator. As of 2017, involuntary commitment, also
known as civil commitment, is a law where the court can order the mentally ill to get treatment against
their consent so long as they pose a danger to self or other (Evans and Salekin 325). By implementing
a less restrictive version of the current law where danger is not the only criteria, the U.S. can provide
equal access to mental health treatments, help get the homeless off the streets, and prevent violent
situations.
Occasionally while walking down the streets, a homeless man is seated against a wall talking
gibberish or a lady is pushing a cart around aimlessly for hours. That same homeless man commonly
overlooked by the law and passerby has the potential to be just like the average middle class person,
working a steady job, having a family, and owning a home of his own but is unfortunately held back
by his mental illness. These people are unable to receive treatment due to having no family, money,
and because they don t impose any danger. On the other hand, less restrictive involuntary commitment
laws would allow for this person to enter a treatment facility at no cost, help them get better, and start
their life anew. For example, less restrictive involuntary commitment laws would provide housing and
proper treatment to those who cannot afford or aren t able to get the help they need on their own. By
eliminating the worry of finding housing, a patient can focus more on getting better mentally and
getting off the streets for good. Supporters of the housing first method agree that once homeless
people have a safe, stable place to live, it is easier to get well and look for work ( Homelessness ).
Involuntary commitment of the patient would allow a bed in a mental health facility, routine care, and
a healthy environment

I Am Sam Essay
I Am Sam December 16th, 2010
In the movie I Am Sam, I will be discussing two elements of communication, facial expressions and
the social exchange theory of relationships. I will be describing two different scenes of the movie to
show how facial expressions are an important element of communication as well as two other scenes
to show how the social exchange theory of relationships works in this movie.
During the final custody hearing to determine if Sam, who has the mentality level of a seven year old,
is capable of raising his daughter Lucy on his own, it was apparently very easy for Mr. Turner to
manipulate him into agreeing with him. Because of Sam s facial expressions during this scene, we can
determine that he was becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When Rita goes to Sam s apartment when he did not show up for his first court ordered evaluation,
Sam ends up having an emotional breakdown when he said Lucy does not need him anymore because
she has a new family and he knows she does not need him. Rita asked him if that was what Lucy had
said and he said, No. I just know she does not need me. When Rita said that that was the first stupid
thing she ever heard him say, Sam s facial expressions showed that he was very upset, depressed, and
frustrated. Rita told Sam that he could get Lucy back, but he has to fight for her. Sam started yelling
because he was so upset and frustrated and he said, But I tried! I try and I tried hard! Rita told him to
try harder and he said, But you do not know! You do not know! You do not know what it is like when
you try, you try, you try, you try, and you do not ever get there! Because you were born perfect and I
was born like this and you were born perfect! People like you do not know! People like you do not
know what it is like to get hurt! People like you do not have feelings! People like you don t feel
anything! Rita s facial expressions at this point show that she is offended,

Summary Of Salinger s The Rye
The Theme of Innocence in Salinger s Novel In today s world innocence is a difficult quality to
achieve and maintain because of the corruption that exists everywhere among us. Many say that
children are the most innocent of beings. However, a child can never be shielded by the danger and
risk that constantly encompasses them in our society today. Children are subjected to this world and
once they are exposed to the corruption it is difficult to maintain the innocence that they once
embodied. In J.D. Salinger s Catcher in the Rye there is an evident need and desire to preserve a sense
of innocence among the characters in a world that lacks innocence. Holden Caulfield, the main
character in Salinger s novel, is a force that tries to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Holden become infuriated as he questions his roommate about his night. What d you do? I said. Give
her the time in Ed Banky s goddam car? My voice was shaking something awful. What a thing to say.
Want me to wash your mouth out with soap? Did you? That s a professional secret, buddy. This next
part I don t remember so hot. All I know is I got up from the bed, like I was going down to the can or
something, and then I tried to sock him, with all my might, right smack in the toothbrush, so it would
split his goddam throat open. ( Salinger ) When Holden hears that his old innocent checkers partner
possibly did things with his womanizing roommate Stradlater this bothers him a great deal as he feels
her innocence has been stolen, Her virginity being her innocence in this situation. He does not see
Jane as a person who is changed or been affected by the world around her, but as his old friends and
checkers partner. When Holden realizes that his former checkers partner may not be as innocent as she
once was, the idea of purity in people diminishing hits Holden. This is the turning point in his head as
he feels it is his duty to protect people like Jane from a dangerous world. Holden takes the
responsibility of protecting children from a world of corruption. He calls

Profit Maximization Model
SAMPLE ANSWER FOR QUESTION 5
Profit making is one of the most traditional, basic and major objectives of a firm. Profit motive is the
driving force behind all business activities of a company. It is the primary measure of success or
failure of a firm in the market. Profit earning capacity indicates the position, performance and status of
a firm in the market. In spite of several changes and development of several alternative objectives,
profit maximization has remained as one of the single most important objectives of the firm even
today.
Both small and large firms consistently make an attempt to maximize their profit by adopting novel
techniques in business. Specific efforts have been made to maximize output and minimize production
and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are as follows
1. Profit maximization is the main goal of the firm.
2. Rational behavior on the part of the firm to achieve its goal of profit maximization.
3. The firm is managed by owner entrepreneur.
Determination of profit maximizing price and output
Profit maximization of a firm can be explained in two different ways.
· Total Revenue and Total Cost approach.
· Marginal Revenue and Marginal Cost approach.
Profits of a firm are estimated by making comparison between total revenue and total costs. Profit is
the difference between TR and TC. In other words, excess of revenue over costs is the profits. Profit =
TR TC. If TR is equal to TC in that case, there will be break even point. If TR is less than TC, in that
case, a firm will be incurring losses. In this case, we take in to account of total cost and total revenue
of the firm while measuring profits.
It is clear from the following diagram how profit arises when TR is greater than that of TC.
2. MR and MC approach
In this case, we take in to account of revenue earned from one unit and cost incurred to produce only
one unit of output. A firm will be maximizing its profits when MR= MC and MC curve cuts MR curve
from below. If MC curve cuts MR curve from above either under perfect market or under imperfect
market, no doubt MR equals MC but total output will not be maximized and hence total profits also
will not be maximized. Hence, two conditions are

Kate Chopin (1850 1904) is an American writer best known for her stories about the inner lives of
sensitive, daring women (Kate Chopin). She rote and published The Awakening during the late 1800s
when the movement for women s rights was beginning to outbreak. Immediately after the Civil War,
Susan B. Anthony, a strong and outspoken advocate of women s rights, demanded that the Fourteenth
Amendment include a guarantee of the vote for women as well as for African American males
(Woman s). After Susan B. Anthony numerous women followed and joined behind her creating certain
organizations and fighting the government, or men, for their own individual rights as women and then
equal right with men. During the late 1800s and early 1900s, women and women s organizations not
only worked to gain the right to vote, they also worked for broad based economic and political
equality and for social reforms. Between 1880 and 1910, the number of women employed in the
United States increased from 2.6 million to 7.8 million (Woman s). However, critics did not agree with
Chopin s openness and realism about how women felt during this time. They believed that The
Awakening was vaguer and cruel for how the women acted out and committed suicide in the end to

Essay about Barbie as a Real Woman is Anatomically...
Millions of girls around the world are dressing their Barbie dolls in skimpy designer outfits and high
heel shoes, and slide her slender legs into a bright pink convertible next to her male counterpart, Ken.
These same girls will gaze into the mirror, staring at their thighs and hair, and attempt to balance
themselves in a pair of their mother s high heel shoes. They will wonder why they do not look like
Barbie. They will wonder today, just as I wondered years ago. As the years of make believe with the
American plastic icon of girlhood nostalgia passed, I discovered Barbie s hidden effects. Although
Barbie lent herself to fond memories of childhood, she also influenced my early ideal image of the
female body. As I began to realize ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Over the years, the hair and outfit changed, but the body has remained the same, an ample chest, long
legs, and lean arms and neck. Her firm, plastic body did not compare with my short legs and chunky
arms. What do an anorexic woman and a Barbie doll have in common? They are the same size. If
Barbie was a real woman, out in the real world, she would not be standing, but actually be on all fours.
Her feet would be too small to hold up her abundant upper half. She would tower at 7 2 and weigh 101
pounds. This skyscraper of a woman would not be able to bear children and only have enough room
for a few inches of intestines. I, on the other hand, am blessed to have twenty five feet of intestines
and the room to hold them. Barbie is a girl s introduction to the ideal image of the female body. As she
matures, she picks up an issue of Glamour or Allure, Elle or Fitness, in an attempt to educate her on
how to fight off every bulge and run off the weight to keep her man. I know these women, these girls,
as I am and was one of them. If only Matell could create a doll after Sandro Botticelli s painting of the
ideal woman in his masterpiece, Birth of Venus. If she were the ideal image of the female body, it
would be much more realistic. If Venus were a real woman, she would be 5 4 and 140 pounds. Unlike
Barbie, she would have plenty of room for

African Americans And African American Culture
Based on my life experiences, the characteristics described by McNamara and Burns (2009) were
essentially consistent with my experiences and perception of the African American culture. One
common characteristic is that African Americans are much more likely to live in poverty and poverty
stricken areas than White Americans (McNamara Burns, 2009). What I have learned it is not as simple
as African Americans are poorer than White Americans. While the statement is true, it is simplistic.
There are many reasons and. causes for the disparity in wealth and income between African
Americans and White American. One explanation given by McNamara and Burns (2009) is that
African Americans lived in slavery for over two centuries in what is now the United States. This is one
cause, but to rely on this as the reason for the disparity is simplistic. Slavery was outlawed only to be
replaced by discrimination against African Americans (McNamara Burns, 2009). While the law
changed, the attitudes of people did not. No law can force how a person thinks. The attitudes of White
Americans continued to see African Americans are having less rights than White Americans
(Williams, n.d.). This was especially true in the South where in the majority of the states slavery was
legal (McNamara Burns, 2009). The attitudes and discrimination are still evident today in all areas of
life. The criminal justice system purports to be color blind when it comes to the administration of
justice,

By definition, tangible representations pertain to objects and photographs or pictures that can be
considered as highly iconic, or strongly resembling what they stand for, called the referent (Bruce et
al., 2016, p. 425). Moreover, tangible representations can be employed expressively or receptively.
Bruce et al. (2016) reviewed studies on literacy for the deaf blind from 1990 to 2015. Findings showed
the role of tangible representations and technologies in improving communicative expressiveness.
Furthermore, different kinds of literacy lessons that are normally given to prelinguistic learners who
are deafblind can improve self expression. Some examples are: 1) using daily schedules to form
anticipatory skills; 2) personalized story boxes to boost access and engagement with content; 3)
experience books that enable the development of distancing (i.e. separation in time and space between
the object of representation and the referent), and 4) chances for choice making to perform preference
expression (Bruce Conlon, 2005). For effective lessons, learners must be in a setting that promotes
literacy growth. As McKenzie (2009) pointed out, an environment that is rich in plentiful literacy
resources will benefit all kinds of learners, with or without disabilities. Books and other resources
should be in classrooms in different forms if possible, including Braille, tactile adaptations, large print,

Australian History And The Canadian Government
In our society, people with different cultures, backgrounds, and religions were considered unequal.
One of the many people that were treated unequally in Canadian History were the Aboriginals. Before
the war began, Aboriginals were not treated fairly by the Canadian government. Aboriginals struggled
to get a permanent job therefore clearly displaying Aboriginals struggling to get the resources they
need in order to survive. Canada s leader ignored this situation and continued to discriminate
Aboriginals (Marshall 2). Several times, Aboriginals were being used by their own country to do their
dirty jobs. The Canadian government did not want to risk true Canadian lives, so they used the
Aboriginals. By the 1990 s, one would think that the government would come to their senses and
realize that the Aboriginals are just like any other human being. However, this was not the case
because the Canadian Government tried stealing and taking Aboriginal belongings for their own needs
later on. Ultimately, the Aboriginal people were mainly treated unequally by the Government in the
Great War, The Manhattan Project, and the Oka Crisis. Aboriginal citizens in the Great War were more
than willing to enlist and volunteer however, they were not permitted to do so by the Canadian
Government (Armstrong et al.1). Aboriginals hoped that one day, their voices would be heard and that
they would get the rights that they deserve. Furthermore, in 1915, the Aboriginals thought the

Galilei is a famous astronomer and is often known as the father of modern astronomy. He created the

Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both a...
Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both a representative government and deliberative
democracy the benefits are largely dependant on the context of policy making and whose interests are
being considered. A representative democracy is one that is currently in place across Australia and, for
the most part, the rest of the world whereby a group of representatives deliberate without unequal
distributions to power on behalf of the nations citizens by denoting their beliefs, attitudes and
perspectives. Recent and ongoing concerns regarding the self interested, bureaucratic nature of
government has lead to increased interest in a more classical deliberative form of democracy
particularly at the idea of public participation ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The argument being that representative democracy allows for politically educated and aware elected
representatives, who have the resources and expertise, to make informed decisions. This views the
decision to allow the general public who may lack political awareness or inclination to make rational,
well considered judgments, incredibly detrimental as average citizens may not consider long term
solutions or may marginalise individuals and minorities. Begging other questions in regards to
whether elected officials should utilise their skill and knowledge to lead the public through more
informed decision that may be better for the greater good of the community by acting independently
or operate merely as relay mechanisms for the views of their constituents (Australian Politics 2010).
Some advocates of representative democracy acknowledge its limitations, but argue that deliberative
democracy is simple unfeasible in modern conditions. A direct government with high levels of
participation may be possible amongst relatively small communities, because personal communication
can take place between and amongst its citizens, however it is impractical and ineefgctive when it
comes to larger nations or states. The idea of consulting the general public on all issues, sanctioning
wide ranging discussion and debate, and holding mass meetings conducted in modern

Nietzsche s Influence On Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche on Religion
Friedrich Nietzsche was born in Germany and was originally a very religious person. But while he
was studying Theology the study of religion from University of Bonn, he became a loyal atheist after
reading Arthur Schopenhauer s Die Welt als Wille und Vorstellung. Nietzsche is the most. There can
be little doubt that Nietzsche is the most influential figure in modern atheism.
Friedrich Nietzsche was one of the most interesting, litigious and probably one of the clearest thinkers
in western history. His philosophy still fascinates enthusiasts and the curious till date. He is considered
one of the fathers of a still popular philosophical movement called existentialism. He was of the view
that people are free and they can control their destiny on their own. They are capable of having a good
life if they want. Since the beginning of the 20th century, the philosophy of religion by Nietzsche has
had great brilliant influence around the world. He was the creator of the famous quote God is dead...

According to him people follow religion as a shield to protect themselves from their fears of their
death and triviality. In doing so they justify that they are very weak. Nietzsche believed that sooner or

superior human. He claimed that as man was evolved from apes, this Ubermensch will emerge from
this weak man as a superior human who will be without fear. So Nietzsche was sure that one day the
Ubermensch will be able to do whatever they wished and the weaker folk, will simply have to adjust
with it. According to Nietzsche there is no such thing as the truth, lawfulness or parity. There is only

Marcus Ulpius Nerva Personality
Marcus Ulpius Nerva Traianus, Trajan for short, was a highly successful Roman general and Emperor
in the early part of the first millennium. He started his career as a successful general, expanding the

Roman Empire to its greatest extent as well as initiated many public building projects, some of which
survived into the present day.
Trajan was born into a non practician family on the 18th of September at Italica near Seville, Spain in

against the Dacians and their king, Decebalus, who lived in modern day Romania. After defeating the

Evolution And Its Impact On Human Evolution
Humans have gone through many stages of adaptation, allowing for great expansion and our unrivaled
dominance of the earth. So it could seem as though humans have reached the peak of evolutionary
development. Evolution is often thought of as a natural process, and were it not for humans, this might
be true. However, evolution, in the strictest sense, is a change in the genetic structure of a population
(Jurmain, et al., 5). While natural selection is a major contributor to the process of evolution, humans
are no longer as heavily influenced by these forces, as they once were.
In fact, since the dawn of medicine, humans have actively impeded the process of evolution. By
ensuring the survival and reproductive success of those who would otherwise be considered unfit, in
that they would not otherwise survive. Francis Galton, and others, suggested regulation to control
reproduction, and reduce/eliminate unfit characteristics. The eugenics movement led to a number of
concerns over what the concept of fitness entails, often prioritizing physical characteristics over
beneficial traits (Jurmain, et al., 391).
Even today, and with great understanding of human genetics, concerns exist regarding the ability to
control reproduction, and by extension, evolution. Some early works used genetics as a way to
describe how humans differentiated. In one study, researchers sought to reconstruct a history of human
evolution. By combining genetic findings with pre existing archaeological and

Bias In The Crucible
Society has always been based on how we all are combined into one. Most of the time there are
different categories where they stand out more. Not all communities share the same things, maybe
some of them have different beliefs than others so they base their town upon what they believe in the
strongest. ¨The crucible¨ by Arthur Miller has its own categories they stand out in. The crucible is
based on courage, weakness, and truth. Many of the people in the community shows these
characteristics in their everyday life. The characters in the crucible were all different, but they still
manage to fall in the three main categories stated before. The crucible is about several young girls who

Sometimes children don t do anything at home so they make up things for their own entertainment.
The point is that most of the people around us in most important in The Crucible tend to lie to just
save themselves of the girls entertainment. Many times the girls in this play were accused of lying.
They were not saying the truth, they were being untrustworthy. In Act Three Francis said ¨Excellency,
we have proof for your eyes; God forbid you shut them to it. The girls, sir, the girls are frauds.¨ (page
87) Francis certainly believes that the girls are lying and he wants everyone to know the truth, so he
tells the judge so they can reevaluate the situation. An example of a person telling the truth is, when
Marry Warren states ¨ I cannot lie no more. I am with God, I am with God.¨ (page 102) Religion is a
big part of this play and since most of the characters go to church regularly they are religious and they
believe in saying the truth. In Act Four Hale is speaking to Elizabeth and he wants her to make sure
her husband tells the truth and confess. Hale tells Elizabeth ¨ I beg you, woman, prevail upon your
husband to confess.¨ Hale wants proctor to confess so the townspeople can know what is truly going
on and the innocent people can be free. Also it is very important for them to know the truth because

An Analysis of Hemingway’s A Moveable Feast
When a writer picks up their pen and paper, begins one of the most personal and cathartic experiences
in their lives, and forms this creation, this seemingly incoherent sets of words and phrases that, read
without any critical thinking, any form of analysis or reflexion, can be easily misconstrued as
worthless or empty. When one reads an author s work, in any shape or form, what floats off of the ink
of the paper and implants itself in our minds is the author s personality, their style. Reading any of the
greats, many would be able to spot the minute details that separates each author from another; whether
it be their use of dialogue, their complex descriptions, their syntax, or their tone. When reading an
excerpt of Hemingway s A ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I said that I did not believe that anyone could write any way except the very best he could write
without compromising his talent. This meta cognitive piece of writing is an exact reflection of
Hemingway s own work. His clinical tone is maintained straight up to the end of the chapter, where he
writes, I did not know Zelda yet, and so I did not know the terrible odds that were against him. But we
were to find them out soon enough. The gloom that carried us through the chapter concludes with an
end that foreshadows more pain and sorrow in the lives of both writers. While Hemingway s sullen
tone carries the underlying theme of his work, it is Hemingway s use of details, what he decides to
divulge into rich descriptions of and what he chooses to leave a mystery, that opens up a text that
comes across as simple to deeper analysis. Hemingway strays away from overly complicated
descriptions of events, keeping his thoughts focused on specific descriptions of character, and of
personal thoughts and opinions. Hemingway s detailed explanations in regards to his arguments with
Scott, such as their one on whether pneumonia is the correct term for a disease or not, and his detailed
recalling of his and Scott s adventures with a thermometer can easily come across as banal and self
indulgent. His detailed recollections of his first encounter with Scott, where he critiques his facial
features, his

Isotopes and Its Uses
ISOTOPES
History of the term:
In the bottom right corner of JJ Thomson s photographic plate are the separate impact marks for the
two isotopes of neon: neon 20 and neon 22.
The term isotope was coined in 1913 by Margaret Todd, a Scottish physician, during a conversation
with Frederick Soddy (to whom she was distantly related by marriage).[4] Soddy, a chemist at
Glasgow University, explained that it appeared from his investigations as if each position in the
periodic table was occupied by multiple entities. Hence Todd made the suggestion, which Soddy
adopted, that a suitable name for such an entity would be the Greek term for at the same place .
Soddy s own studies were of radioactive (unstable) atoms. The first observation of different ... Show

Beta decay of an even even nucleus produces an odd odd nucleus, and vice versa. An even number of
protons or of neutrons are more stable (lower binding energy) because of pairing effects, so even even
nuclei are much more stable than odd odd. One effect is that there are few stable odd odd nuclei, but
another effect is to prevent beta decay of many even even

Prostitution And Prostitution
Within the research surrounding sex trafficking and its relation to prostitution, an important question
is: do different laws and policies on prostitution have a noticeable effect on human trafficking? Which
is more likely to decrease sex trafficking: decriminalization of prostitution or strict enforcement of anti
prostitution laws? The literature suggests that decriminalizing prostitution may lead to better working
conditions for a minority of workers, however legalization can lead to higher rates of sex trafficking.
Along with this, other identity factors such as age and immigration status limit any positive impact
legalizing prostitution may have on reducing sex trafficking. The research highlights the different
ways in which women enter into the field of prostitution. In relation to sex trafficking, not all women
who are sex trafficked are simply kidnapped and directly forced into prostitution. According to
Leuchtag, a scholar and social worker in this field of study, many women are coerced into sex slavery
through different means of manipulation. Often, distributors of sex slaves will claim there is a work
opportunity in a nearby region doing manual labor, such as working on a farm. Though the context
may seem risky, women who are in great economic distress will often take such ambiguously titled
jobs in order to send money to their families. These women only find out after they have accepted the
job offer the reality of their situation. Other women are kidnapped and

Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia is a chronic medical condition with a wide variety of clinical
presentations making it, sometimes, very insidious at the time of the diagnosis. Several therapeutic
options including, pharmacotherapy, cardiac rehabilitation and modification or ablation of the sinus
node have been proposed for the management of Inappropriate Sinus Tachycardia. But due to the
complexity and not well understood pathophysiology, it can be difficult to manage despite the
numerous treatment options currently available. The purpose of this review is to analyze the treatment

The clinical presentation of patients with IST can vary due to the diversity of its multiple symptoms
including: intermittent palpitations, dyspnea, dizziness, lightheadedness, pre syncope, syncope, chest
pain, myalgia, and fatigue. [12] Associated psychological and emotional problems can also be seen,
but no relationship with IST has been identified. [8]
Using a criteria of a resting heart rate 100 bpm and an average heart rate of 90 bpm on 24 hour Holter
monitoring, Still et al., estimated the prevalence of IST in a middle aged population of men and
women. The IST prevalence was 1.2% (7 of 604 patients) [2], including both symptomatic and
asymptomatic patients. IST has also been reported in older population. [5] Although, IST is believed
to be a chronic condition, long term complications are few. IST has been associated with tachycardia
induced cardiomyopathy in isolated cases [6][7] and no mortality has been yet reported.
IST is a medical entity that should be diagnosed by exclusion, medical history and physical

thus, thyroid disease, medications, hypovolemia, panic attacks, anxiety and substance abuse should be
ruled out. A 12 lead EKG is useful for recording tachycardia and defining sinus rhythm, which helps

Individuals need to acknowledge then woman s rights, misandry and matriarchy are three altogether
different things. Matriarchy is indistinguishable to patriarchy, with the special case that the parts are

either. Women s liberation strikes to right some exceptionally clear and harmful medications and
social convictions towards ladies until they are equivalent to men. It is extremely straightforward. The
motivation behind why this development was named woman s rights is that ladies are thought to be

The Truth Machine By Chuck Palahniuk
The Truth Machine had a terrifying aspect about it. Halperin s idea of a future with no lies sounds
delightful at first, but once you scratch the surface and realize that includes white lies you can see the
complications that may commence. I could see his future happening if we used the machine only in
trials, but I would not eliminate a jury completely. Machines are able to be tampered with, no matter
how well they are engineered. The Truth Machine furthered my belief that humans create themselves
from their past experiences. Illusions may be the most bizarre book I have held in my hands. And that
is saying something since Chuck Palahniuk is my favorite author. I found that as I was reading this
book I began to question the world I lived in. How amazing it would be if we could wake up and

Why Do Big Data And Product Design Are All Important...
Introduction
Big data, defined as a popular term used to describe the exponential growth and availability of data
(What is Big Data? , n. d. ), has attracted considerable interest in many fields as it promises to offer a
level of analytic detail that has not been reached so far. Whilst it is often promoted as the solution to
many marketing problems, it has some significant disadvantages. Cost, data selection, problems
relating to the interpretation of the data and difficulties deciding how to apply the new knowledge to
existing products and product design are all important problems.
Situation There is a line chart above from Google Trends which illustrates the searching record (Big
Data) from 2005 to 2015.As can be seen, Big Data has ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Probably, Big Data can be the future of marketing. However, there are some problems in using Big
Data because of these characteristics. If the enterprises do not know how to address problems, the
investment will be wasted while enterprises still search around in the haystack for the needle.
Therefore, some problems will be illustrated followed by the solutions for Big Data.
Problems
Firstly, the main problem is deciding which data should be selected. The data, explaining customers
desires and needs, is important to be collected while most of the enterprises are confusing about what
data they should concentrate on. A recent Gartner report (2014) stresses that 64% of firms raced to
plan or launch a Big Data project, though they did not have enough professional knowledge yet. To
understand what customers need through Big Data possibly turns into the core of companies target.
The large data volumes and different varieties of data lead to data complexity.
Secondly, the result predicted by Big Data probably may not be true at last. (MARCUS, DAVIS.
2014).This phenomenon happen frequently in many companies. Take Google Flu Trends as an
example, they predicted that the Disease Control and Protection Center was not able to control the
spread of flu quickly and effectively as time went on. Later, this conclusion was proved wrong. Hence,
it means that future prediction contains inconsistencies compared with reality.

B(ii) In transect 1 quadrat number 3 there is an anomaly, the sequence is broken 81, 82, 89, 84, this could have been because Shelby pointed the light meter up into the sky instead of the 90 degree angle. If I had more time then we would have repeated this result. Most of the other results are accurate and reliable because looking at the graph there are no completely out of place results, there are a few that do not fit with the line of best fit very well but ecology is very hard to get perfect as you cannot make the environment do what you want to do. Some of the light measurements may not be accurate because when we did the experiment the light was changing and was very unpredictable, sometimes the sun would go behind a cloud which meant the light measurement would be low when actually most ... • 3. The Transcontinental Railroad America s Transcontinental Railroad Since the beginning of recorded history, mankind has been caught in the middle of being frightened by the unknown and having an intense desire to explore and conquer it. The magnetic draws of potential land, wealth, and happiness have been perpetually found in juxtaposition against the possibilities of exotic foes, disease, and ultimate death. The concept of the desire to command the unknown frontier is clearly seen in mid nineteenth century America, and has been revered as a foundational pillar of American spirit. The westward expansion of early America was influenced by a multitude of factors and is known in history as a crucial base to the growth of the political and economic superpower known of today ... The overall impact of the Gold Rush is seen through the effects of this population boom the population of cities like San Francisco exploded, and a huge, modern infrastructure was built to accommodate this population boom. The Gold Rush also played a large role in the desire for a Transcontinental Railroad, and is seen by many as the foundation for today s West. However, the effects of the Gold Rush were localized to the Western States, particularly California. The countrywide effects of the Transcontinental Railroad strongly contrast the localized impacts of the Gold Rush, making the Transcontinental Railroad far more impactful on Westward Expansion due to the fact that its impact was seen in Eastern and Western ... • 4. Persuasive Essay On Mental Health It was October 1, 2017, at the Country Music Festival in Las Vegas, Nevada that Stephen Paddock fired upon a concert, resulting in hundreds killed and wounded altogether (Fox). Going back further to 2011, Jared Lee Loughner killed six and injured twelve, including Congresswoman Gabrielle Gifford (Moon 209). As more and more mass shootings emerge, it s unfortunate to think such tragedies could be avoided by involuntarily committing the perpetrator. As of 2017, involuntary commitment, also known as civil commitment, is a law where the court can order the mentally ill to get treatment against their consent so long as they pose a danger to self or other (Evans and Salekin 325). By implementing a less restrictive version of the current law where danger is not the only criteria, the U.S. can provide equal access to mental health treatments, help get the homeless off the streets, and prevent violent situations. Occasionally while walking down the streets, a homeless man is seated against a wall talking gibberish or a lady is pushing a cart around aimlessly for hours. That same homeless man commonly overlooked by the law and passerby has the potential to be just like the average middle class person, working a steady job, having a family, and owning a home of his own but is unfortunately held back by his mental illness. These people are unable to receive treatment due to having no family, money, and because they don t impose any danger. On the other hand, less restrictive involuntary commitment laws would allow for this person to enter a treatment facility at no cost, help them get better, and start their life anew. For example, less restrictive involuntary commitment laws would provide housing and proper treatment to those who cannot afford or aren t able to get the help they need on their own. By eliminating the worry of finding housing, a patient can focus more on getting better mentally and getting off the streets for good. Supporters of the housing first method agree that once homeless people have a safe, stable place to live, it is easier to get well and look for work ( Homelessness ). Involuntary commitment of the patient would allow a bed in a mental health facility, routine care, and a healthy environment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. I Am Sam Essay I Am Sam December 16th, 2010 In the movie I Am Sam, I will be discussing two elements of communication, facial expressions and the social exchange theory of relationships. I will be describing two different scenes of the movie to show how facial expressions are an important element of communication as well as two other scenes to show how the social exchange theory of relationships works in this movie. During the final custody hearing to determine if Sam, who has the mentality level of a seven year old, is capable of raising his daughter Lucy on his own, it was apparently very easy for Mr. Turner to manipulate him into agreeing with him. Because of Sam s facial expressions during this scene, we can determine that he was becoming ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When Rita said that that was the first stupid thing she ever heard him say, Sam s facial expressions showed that he was very upset, depressed, and frustrated. Rita told Sam that he could get Lucy back, but he has to fight for her. Sam started yelling because he was so upset and frustrated and he said, But I tried! I try and I tried hard! Rita told him to try harder and he said, But you do not know! You do not know! You do not know what it is like when you try, you try, you try, you try, and you do not ever get there! Summary Of Salinger s The Rye The Theme of Innocence in Salinger s Novel In today s world innocence is a difficult quality to achieve and maintain because of the corruption that exists everywhere among us. Many say that children are the most innocent of beings. However, a child can never be shielded by the danger and risk that constantly encompasses them in our society today. Children are subjected to this world and once they are exposed to the corruption it is difficult to maintain the innocence that they once embodied. In J.D. • 7. Profit Maximization Model SAMPLE ANSWER FOR QUESTION 5 Profit making is one of the most traditional, basic and major objectives of a firm. Profit motive is the driving force behind all business activities of a company. It is the primary measure of success or failure of a firm in the market. Profit earning capacity indicates the position, performance and status of a firm in the market. In spite of several changes and development of several alternative objectives, profit maximization has remained as one of the single most important objectives of the firm even today. Both small and large firms consistently make an attempt to maximize their profit by adopting novel techniques in business. Rational behavior on the part of the firm to achieve its goal of profit maximization. 3. The firm is managed by owner entrepreneur. Determination of profit maximizing price and output Profit maximization of a firm can be explained in two different ways. · Total Revenue and Total Cost approach. · Marginal Revenue and Marginal Cost approach. Profits of a firm are estimated by making comparison between total revenue and total costs. Profit is the difference between TR and TC. In other words, excess of revenue over costs is the profits. Profit = TR TC. If TR is equal to TC in that case, there will be break even point. If TR is less than TC, in that case, a firm will be incurring losses. In this case, we take in to account of total cost and total revenue of the firm while measuring profits. It is clear from the following diagram how profit arises when TR is greater than that of TC. 2. MR and MC approach In this case, we take in to account of revenue earned from one unit and cost incurred to produce only one unit of output. A firm will be maximizing its profits when MR= MC and MC curve cuts MR curve from below. If MC curve cuts MR curve from above either under perfect market or under imperfect market, no doubt MR equals MC but total output will not be maximized and hence total profits also will not be maximized. Hence, two conditions are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Kate Chopin (1850 1904) is an American writer best known for her stories about the inner lives of sensitive, daring women (Kate Chopin). She rote and published The Awakening during the late 1800s when the movement for women s rights was beginning to outbreak. Immediately after the Civil War, Susan B. Anthony, a strong and outspoken advocate of women s rights, demanded that the Fourteenth Amendment include a guarantee of the vote for women as well as for African American males (Woman s). Millions of girls around the world are dressing their Barbie dolls in skimpy designer outfits and high heel shoes, and slide her slender legs into a bright pink convertible next to her male counterpart, Ken. These same girls will gaze into the mirror, staring at their thighs and hair, and attempt to balance themselves in a pair of their mother s high heel shoes. They will wonder why they do not look like Barbie. They will wonder today, just as I wondered years ago. Over the years, the hair and outfit changed, but the body has remained the same, an ample chest, long legs, and lean arms and neck. Her firm, plastic body did not compare with my short legs and chunky arms. What do an anorexic woman and a Barbie doll have in common? They are the same size. If Barbie was a real woman, out in the real world, she would not be standing, but actually be on all fours. Her feet would be too small to hold up her abundant upper half. She would tower at 7 2 and weigh 101 pounds. This skyscraper of a woman would not be able to bear children and only have enough room for a few inches of intestines. I, on the other hand, am blessed to have twenty five feet of intestines and the room to hold them. Barbie is a girl s introduction to the ideal image of the female body. As she matures, she picks up an issue of Glamour or Allure, Elle or Fitness, in an attempt to educate her on how to fight off every bulge and run off the weight to keep her man. • 10. African Americans And African American Culture Based on my life experiences, the characteristics described by McNamara and Burns (2009) were essentially consistent with my experiences and perception of the African American culture. One common characteristic is that African Americans are much more likely to live in poverty and poverty stricken areas than White Americans (McNamara Burns, 2009). What I have learned it is not as simple as African Americans are poorer than White Americans. While the statement is true, it is simplistic. There are many reasons and. causes for the disparity in wealth and income between African Americans and White American. One explanation given by McNamara and Burns (2009) is that African Americans lived in slavery for over two centuries in what is now the United States. This is one cause, but to rely on this as the reason for the disparity is simplistic. Slavery was outlawed only to be replaced by discrimination against African Americans (McNamara Burns, 2009). While the law changed, the attitudes of people did not. No law can force how a person thinks. The attitudes of White Americans continued to see African Americans are having less rights than White Americans (Williams, n.d.). This was especially true in the South where in the majority of the states slavery was legal (McNamara Burns, 2009). The attitudes and discrimination are still evident today in all areas of life. By definition, tangible representations pertain to objects and photographs or pictures that can be considered as highly iconic, or strongly resembling what they stand for, called the referent (Bruce et al., 2016, p. 425). Moreover, tangible representations can be employed expressively or receptively. Bruce et al. (2016) reviewed studies on literacy for the deaf blind from 1990 to 2015. Findings showed the role of tangible representations and technologies in improving communicative expressiveness. Furthermore, different kinds of literacy lessons that are normally given to prelinguistic learners who are deafblind can improve self expression. Some examples are: 1) using daily schedules to form anticipatory skills; 2) personalized story boxes to boost access and engagement with content; 3) experience books that enable the development of distancing (i.e. separation in time and space between the object of representation and the referent), and 4) chances for choice making to perform preference expression (Bruce Conlon, 2005). For effective lessons, learners must be in a setting that promotes literacy growth. As McKenzie (2009) pointed out, an environment that is rich in plentiful literacy resources will benefit all kinds of learners, with or without disabilities. • 12. Australian History And The Canadian Government In our society, people with different cultures, backgrounds, and religions were considered unequal. One of the many people that were treated unequally in Canadian History were the Aboriginals. Before the war began, Aboriginals were not treated fairly by the Canadian government. Aboriginals struggled to get a permanent job therefore clearly displaying Aboriginals struggling to get the resources they need in order to survive. Canada s leader ignored this situation and continued to discriminate Aboriginals (Marshall 2). Several times, Aboriginals were being used by their own country to do their dirty jobs. The Canadian government did not want to risk true Canadian lives, so they used the Aboriginals. By the 1990 s, one would think that the government would come to their senses and realize that the Aboriginals are just like any other human being. However, this was not the case because the Canadian Government tried stealing and taking Aboriginal belongings for their own needs later on. Ultimately, the Aboriginal people were mainly treated unequally by the Government in the Great War, The Manhattan Project, and the Oka Crisis. Aboriginal citizens in the Great War were more than willing to enlist and volunteer however, they were not permitted to do so by the Canadian Government (Armstrong et al.1). Aboriginals hoped that one day, their voices would be heard and that they would get the rights that they deserve. Furthermore, in 1915, the Aboriginals thought the Canadian ... Although there are advantages and disadvantages to both a representative government and deliberative democracy the benefits are largely dependant on the context of policy making and whose interests are being considered. • 21. Evolution And Its Impact On Human Evolution Humans have gone through many stages of adaptation, allowing for great expansion and our unrivaled dominance of the earth. So it could seem as though humans have reached the peak of evolutionary development. Evolution is often thought of as a natural process, and were it not for humans, this might be true. However, evolution, in the strictest sense, is a change in the genetic structure of a population (Jurmain, et al., 5). While natural selection is a major contributor to the process of evolution, humans are no longer as heavily influenced by these forces, as they once were. In fact, since the dawn of medicine, humans have actively impeded the process of evolution. By ensuring the survival and reproductive success of those who would otherwise be considered unfit, in that they would not otherwise survive. Francis Galton, and others, suggested regulation to control reproduction, and reduce/eliminate unfit characteristics. The eugenics movement led to a number of concerns over what the concept of fitness entails, often prioritizing physical characteristics over beneficial traits (Jurmain, et al., 391). Even today, and with great understanding of human genetics, concerns exist regarding the ability to control reproduction, and by extension, evolution. Some early works used genetics as a way to describe how humans differentiated. In one study, researchers sought to reconstruct a history of human evolution. Prostitution And Prostitution Within the research surrounding sex trafficking and its relation to prostitution, an important question is: do different laws and policies on prostitution have a noticeable effect on human trafficking? Which is more likely to decrease sex trafficking: decriminalization of prostitution or strict enforcement of anti prostitution laws? The literature suggests that decriminalizing prostitution may lead to better working conditions for a minority of workers, however legalization can lead to higher rates of sex trafficking. Along with this, other identity factors such as age and immigration status limit any positive impact legalizing prostitution may have on reducing sex trafficking.
