My Family As A Whole
I can not accurately describe myself without describing my family as a whole. I
come from a close knit family of parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and
grandparents to which I am the only girl. That has provided me with many strengths
as well as some weaknesses. My family has always included more than just blood
relatives. We have had the mentality that if you are here you are family. For the most
part that has been a great way of life, however there have been times that it has
proven to be challenging. All of it however has shaped me into the person that I am at
this point.
Growing up surrounded by all men has enabled me to be many things. I am always
up for a challenge, I do not like to lose and I tend to think more logically about
things. I find that people seek me out for advice and I am able to give sound, logical
advice fairly easily. My family has been very protective of me yet will challenge me
to be better and step outside of my comfort zone to achieve something.
I have learned to be inclusive rather than exclusive in dealing with people. We have
often had family that is not truly related to us. When I was in first grade I became
best friends with a girl named Jessica. The first time Jessica came to stay the night
with us her mom dropped her off for the weekend. We later found out that Jessica s
mom was a single mom and had just found out she had breast cancer. Jessica stayed
during her moms surgery and recovery, all the while she was treated as if she

New Seminole City Center Project
For years, the overriding hope for officials, business owners and many residents of
the city of Seminole was for Seminole Mall to be rebuilt and bring with it a vibrant
shopping destination that would usher in jobs and prosperity. That goal seems
within grasp now that developers have proposed tearing down the existing structure
and building a spiffy, more modern design with room for a 12 screen movie
complex, a fitness center, retail shops and restaurants (Lindberg, July 31, 2014). In
this section, the redevelopment of the Seminole Mall into the new Seminole City
Center will be discussed; furthermore, the assessment and analysis of the
effectiveness of the policy initiative, with regards to the economic foresight and in
relation to other city improvements. The policy initiative developed for the Seminole
City Center project was completed using a Development Agreement (DA). The DA
is the primary tool used to support economic development for the City of Seminole.
The DA is derived from the 2015 Florida Statute, Chapter 163 and allows the
developer and the city to negotiate certain items in the redevelopment process (Ely,
2015). It adds certainty to what can be built and how it is built. The regulation of the
agreement offers assistance to the process while adjusting the agreement through
terms that both sides agree upon before the final build outs. The DA becomes the
primary social and political tool to ensure individual choices and the constitutional
governance that
Analysis Of Jesus Land By Julia Scheeres
When an individual s pursuit of self awareness is disrupted, it often becomes
characterized by the creation of an opposite in other people. This theme is evident
in Julia Scheeres s memoir Jesus Land. During her period of adolescent self
discovery, Julia is met with obstacles caused by fanatical authority figures in both
her family and church. This struggle ultimately leads Julia to disown and even
demonize her closet relation, her brother David. Although the book is a concentrated
depiction of this pattern, the idea of othering is prevalent in our country as a whole.
Specifically, gender othering always has and always will be an issue in America and
the American Dream. Through the description of her adolescent experiences in her
memoir Jesus Land, Julia Scheeres exposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Men counter women by placing them in subordinate roles. One theory behind this
othering is that men feel the need to project their fraility and vulnerability on females
as a justification for treating them as inferior (Arini). These supporting and domestic
roles are presented by Christianity as the more moral choice. Most religions require
that a woman concentrate on her family, appealing to the female maternal instincts
(Arini). After years of being taught scriptures on being obedient, women convince
themselves that they are supposed to be submissive. They quell their other
aspirations and focus on getting married, having kids, and caring for a family
(Arini). A study held by Lauren E. Maltby, M. Elizabeth L. Hall, Tamara L.
Anderson, and Keith Edwards showed that increased scriptual literalism in males
parelled directly with increased benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism is the belief
that, among other things, women should be kept at home in domestic roles. As a
male s agreement with core Christian ideals increases, his tendency to hold sexist
views increases (Maltby). Both men and women who accept the literal

However, the disease progresses to the point that the children have difficulty rising
from the floor and have an obvious waddling gait. This decline in motor strength
remains linear. The symptoms accentuate themselves between the age of 3 and 8. On
average, functional ability declines rapidly after age 8. By their 9th year some
become confined to the wheelchair and by their 12th year most cannot remain
ambulatory (Clinical pediatric neurology, Pg. 182). Other symptoms include large
and rubbery calf muscles and in Duchenne muscular dystrophy an IQ that is
significantly lower than the average, the mean IQ of affected children being of only
85. More importantly the pelvic weakness that prevented them from rising from the
floor can increase to such a degree that breathing becomes difficult and some patients
can die of chocking.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy has a worldwide distribution, with a mean
incidence of 1 per 3,500 male births (Clinical Pediatric Neurology, Pg. 180). The
children lead a life ridden with difficulty and physical pain. While kids their age are
seen running around playing, these boys rapidly loose functional use of their limbs.
There are also many other problems associated with muscle wasting. To be sure that
the child has the disease a muscle biopsy is usually done to check for dystrophin
levels and confirm that the child does have DMD and not another disorder.

This paper will discuss the life of Maria Mitchell and how she became the first
woman astronomer in the United States. It will tell of where she grew up. How she
climbed the ranks to achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true
passion of astronomy. By describing the events that made this courageous woman, we
can see clearly how she set an example for her gender in the Nineteenth century.

She had memorized the sky and was sure of her observation. (Gromley p.55) This
was the great discovery that her constant vigilance brought into the open, as she saw a
comet of unknown origin. It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria
recorded the presumed comet s coordinates. The next night the star moved again.
This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to Professor William Bond
at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery. Professor Bond
submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal to a
person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person,
Father Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later
(Mitchell p.105) than Maria Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the
prize before news of Maria s earlier discovery arrived in Europe. After some
negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for this discovery a year later.
The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet.
She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of
congratulations from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman
astronomer. In 1848 the American Academy of Arts and Sciences voted her the first
woman member. The Association for the Advancement of Science did the same in
1850. In 1849 she was offered a job by the U.S. Nautical Almanac Office as a

Essay about Rapid Changes During the Jazz Age
Conflict covered the world in the early 1900s during WWI. After four long years
of fighting treaties were signed. Following Armistice Day a new era began. New
ideas and trends swept over the world after WWI in the era called the Jazz Age.
During the Jazz Age, Paris became the center of the artistic movement. Artists of all
sorts from every corner of the globe traveled to Paris. Ernest Hemingway was there
during this time, and his life in 1920s Paris is documented in his memoir A
Moveable Feast. Along with Hemingway, F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, Salvador
Dali, Pablo Picasso, and Cole Porter were all prominent figures in the artistic
movement in the JazzAge (Weber). Gertrude Stein hosted gatherings of numerous

Everything changed in the United States during this era. Even though the United
States only took part in WWI for one year, the society changed drastically during
this time. The seemingly perfect world that people once lived in no longer existed.
The youth rebelled against the social constrictions ,and women started to do things
unimaginable beforehand. Jazz was on the rise with musicians such as Duke
Ellington and Louis Armstrong taking the lead. The Temperance Movement
attributed the carefree lifestyle of society to alcohol eventually bringing about the
Prohibition. The Prohibition took effect in 1920 a year after the Eighteenth
Amendment was passed. Even though there was a ban on alcohol the seemingly
endless party of society still remained. The Volstead Act was passed in 1919 to
clarify the Eighteenth Amendment, and created loopholes for purchasing alcohol.
The act allowed people to drink alcohol if it was prescribed by a doctor. These types
of prescriptions quickly became a new fad. Organized crime boomed during this
time with the smuggling and sale of alcohol. Al Capone had rum from the
Caribbean and whiskey from Canada smuggled through the borders. Secret bars
called speakeasies were created to host the illegal alcohol intake. Since all of these
dealings were illegal, speakeasies were always liable to be raided by a Prohibition
officer. None of the money from the sale of alcohol went to the
An Globalized World Burden Of Private Investment Is...
Abstract: There is growing consensus among researchers and academicians that in
this globalized world the burden of private investment is increasing over Foreign
Direct Investment (FDI). Because of a declining trend in public investment the task
of capital formation rests over the shoulder of private investment and thus FDI
playing a leading role in determining the fate of the economy. The economies
receiving more inflow of FDI, are realizing a comparatively high growth and vice
versa. This is also expected to be happen in India. The present paper discusses the
relationship between the inflow of FDI and GDP. It has been found that FDI has a
positive correlation with GDP. the regression analysis between GDP and FDI of
different sectors also supported the same result which shows that FDI inflow in India
is playing very important role in determining the size of GDP.
Key Word: Foreign Direct Investment, Sustainable Growth, GDP, Farm Production

The process of planning in India has always been sensitive to the needs of the poor
and the plight of excluded from its early days. Government of India sought to solve
all the socio economic problems with the help of rapid and sustained economic
growth, because our planners were working with the view that as the size of
national income will be high individuals can share more and vice versa (Hashim,

The Baroque Era
The Baroque era was a unique period in music that began during the 1600 s and
ended around 1750. The word baroque is define by Merriam s Collegiate Dictionary

prevalent esp. in the 17th century that is marked generally by use of complex forms,
bold ornamentation, and the juxtaposition of contrasting elements often conveying a

Thomas church in Leipzig. This was a demanding job in which Bach composed
canatas for the St. Thomas and St. Nicholas churches, conduct the choirs, oversee
the musical activities of numerous municipal churches, and teach Latin in the St.
Thomas choir school. Bach remained at his post in Leipzig until his death in 1750.
Although he excelled his forbears and contemporaries, he did not receive the
respect he deserved until after his death. Bach is now regarded as one of the
greatest composers of all composers and is a source of inspiration for musicians.
While Bach s musical career centered around Germany, Antonio Vivaldiwas the son
of a professional violinist whose musical career cantered in Italy. Born on March 4,
1678, Vivaldi was a virtuoso violinist and composer whose works included over 500
concertos.
Vivaldi s output was enormous. It is said that he invented ritornello form. If he did
not invent this, he was the first to use this technique. In 1703, Vivaldi began an on
and off relationship with the Ospedale della Pieta, a home for the female offspring
of noblemen and their mistresses. Vivaldi remained working this post for much of
his life. He did, however, take leave to compose many of his famous operas such as
Ottone in villa, his first opera.
Baroque music symbolized a changing in the times. From the early period, when
Bach introduced his rich polyphonic concertos and excelled as a virtuoso organist and
composer. The evolution of music
The Value Of Taking Responsibility Essay
The Value in Taking Responsibility During the late 1800 s and early 1900 s a
series of laws and campaigns were instated to prevent forest fires. It was believed
that forest fires would greatly damage the timber industry due to the loss of trees the
forests would suffer as a result. The longer these campaigns persisted, the worse the
forest fire breakouts became, and the forests continued to degrade. Many animals
were also displaced and threatened as a result of these intense fires. Eventually
forestry researchers and conservationists started looking at what fires did to the
various ecosystems. They found that fires actually promote the growth of healthier,
stronger trees by burning the weak trees and providing more nutrients for the soil. By
suppressing fires, the forests experienced large amounts of degradation, and many
animals were threatened by the loss of sustainable habitats. Controlled burns every
few years actually benefits all the organisms living in that ecosystem, however, in
some places it s nearly impossible to burn. After so many years of fire suppression
the leaf litter has accumulated to such large amounts that any fire started would burn
to hot and high for the forest to survive. Humaninterests often times have profound
affects on the world around them. There are many instances like the above example
in which peoples own self interests end up hurting and degrading the environment
around them. In the aftermath of events such as this, there are many
Strategic Management Process
STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PROCESSS
Strategic or institutional management is the conduct of drafting, implementing and
evaluating cross functional decisions that will enable an organization to achieve its
long term objectives[1]. It is the process of specifying the organization s mission,
vision and objectives, developing policies and plans, often in terms of projects and
programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives, and then allocating
resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. A balanced
scorecard is often used to evaluate the overall performance of the business and its
progress towards objectives.

An organization, with a effective management, should try to implement its plans
without signaling the fact to its competitors.[3]
In order for a policy to work, there must be a level of consistency from every person
in an organization, including from the management. This is what needs to occur on
the tactical level of management as well as strategic.
Strategy evaluation
Measuring the effectiveness of the organizational strategy, it s extremely important to
conduct a SWOT analysis to figure out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and
threats (both internal and external) of the entity in question. This may require to take
certain precautionary measures or even to change the entire strategy.
In corporate strategy, Johnson and Scholes present a model in which strategic options
are evaluated against three key success criteria:
Suitability (would it work?)
Feasibility (can it be made to work?)
Acceptability (will they work it?)
[Suitability
Suitability deals with the overall rationale of the strategy. The key point to consider is
whether the strategy would address the key strategic issues underlined by the
organisation s strategic position.
Does it make economic sense?
Would the organisation obtain economies of scale, economies of scope or experience
economy?
Would it be suitable in terms of environment and capabilities?
Tools that can be used to evaluate suitability include:

Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall
planned financial budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job
output from the contractor as well as the duration (time) that is allowed to complete
the work. But it is very common that in most cases, it would seem that all that would

Introduction
Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all
construction activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is
being applied, as well as the personnel that directs or guides the project through
every single stage or phase of its life cycle. It is pertinent to know that not all
constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to some changed
conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and
differing site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are
abruptly cancelled due to reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as
the case maybe, but whatever happens regardless. Proper and effective closure is
always needed on all constructions projects.
According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close
a Project , he noted that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the
project plan. The closing process does not begin at the end of the project, but during
the planning phase. Each step should be carefully planned and executed as any other
portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested timeline for preparations of a
project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Reynolds (2014) in the
Tenth Edition of their publications titled Construction Project Administration noted
on page 347, that The closeout period may actually begin several weeks to a month

The success of Labour s governments during its two terms in power, in the 1920 s

In this first government, there were many educational reforms, such as the
reintroduction of state scholarships for university students. Also, in 1926, the
Education Minister C.P Trevalyan appointed commissions to review the education
system. These commissions, known as the Hadow Report introduced a separation in
the schools structure. Children over the age of 11 were to study in the new
secondary school, and this established the principle of free secondary education for
all, meaning that not only the wealthy had access to secondary education.
These policies were directed at improving the living conditions of the poor. The new
government showed that Britain needed to leave its Victorian attitudes behind and
work towards improving standards of living for the lowest social classes.
The foreign policies of the Labour government achieved success, even though most of
these ultimately proved unnecessary and irrelevant in the long term. The most
successful policy for the first Labour government was the Dawes Plan at the London
Conference, which resolved the reparations dispute between France and Germany,
and the USA agreed to lend money to Germany. This ultimately meant that France
had to stop occupying the Ruhr valley, thus allowing Germany to continue to
produce coal. However, in the long run this was a disaster for the UK as

but are too afraid to give it a go. Clift explains that a first time sky diving
experience does not have to be scary, especially since it will be a tandem jump. In a
tandem sky dive, the person jumping is literally attached via a harness to
professional. When two people tandem sky dive, the professional is the one in
charge of the technicalities of the jump. All the jumper needs to do is spread their
arms and enjoy the ride. He says that sky diving is not hard to do, and really
anyone in good health can do it with ease. When you sky dive, the most
complicated part of the trip will be the paperwork that must be filled out prior to
jumping, and getting suited up and harnessed. Special suits are worn to help the
professional or individual diver adjust for wind, drag, and lift. These suits are
comfortable, though not very stylish. After that it is all clear skies according to

Health Science Rotation Report
As a junior at Cypress Creek High School I was blessed with the amazing
opportunity to engage in health care through the Health Science Rotations program.
This program has enlightened me with many areas in health care that contribute to
taking care of a patient. I was able to learn about certain areas of a hospital,
particularly North Cypress Medical Center, by shadowing professionals in their area
of study. While shadowing these medical professionals, multiple thoughts cross my
mind. I would love to do what they do, is the thought that constantly sticks in my
mind as I watch the medical professionals do what they spent many years learning
how to do. Being in HealthScience Rotations has given me an insight as to whether or

will take supreme dedication not only to the Practicum class but my general high

making sure that I am getting the most out of my education from the Practicum in
Health Science Class. Due to the fact that I am a highly devoted person, this should
not be hard. My love for learning about medicine is extremely strong and willing,
causing my dedication to be almost natural. With my natural dedication to
medicine and my desire to learn more, who knows what I can accomplish if I am
given a position in the Certified Nurse s Assistant Program in the Practicum in
Health Science class. My fascination of medicine is what drives me to learn and
every time I go somewhere I always think about what I can do to help in an
emergency or how can I apply something to medicine. Having the opportunity to
join Practicum in Health Science would not only allow me to gain more
knowledge, but it would help me follow my dream. Being in the program would

A Dog Is A Man s Best Friend
If I can t act, I would go to college and maybe be a veterinarian. There was a young
girl, animals were always a fascination to her. At a very young age, she knew that
she wanted to be a doctor but she was not very sure until the age of 12 that she
suddenly knew that she wanted to be a veterinarian. Trips to the zoo were more
fascinating to her than the average child. Growing up in her teenage years, she
discovered that as humans, they share the Earth with many different species, our
looks differ, our languages differ, some of the ways they choose to live and survive
are very different and that humans seem to be better than the animals. The quote A
dog is a man s best friend is an example of how amazing the way two different
species can communicate and develop a bond between one another.Sometimes the
bond between humans and animals aren t always bad but they are not always sweet
either. Humans and animals might clash from time to time and problems arise, such
as interrupting habitats, killing one another, etc. can cause different outlooks on
coexisting with one another, due to the fact that the animals are at a disadvantage of
speaking our language, the only species that can decide and make decisions in this
situation are humans and that means we need to make logical decisions and bring
better outcomes for these animals. Everyone occupies a purpose or duty on this
Earth and a few of us feel that helping others is something that we would like to do.

The full Unix operating system had been ported only to the top end of the early
personal computer market, since Unix required CPU, memory, and disk resources
which were well in excess of what was available on the majority of these early
machines. However, the growing popularity of the IBM PC clone as a personal
computing platform, and the need to have a system which students could work on
encouraged Andrew Tanenbaum to write a small version of Unix in 1986 called
Minix, for the PC platform. Although it originally supported multi processing with
a single user and only floppy disk drives for storage, it evolved over the years to
Minix 2.0, with many additional features not found in the early versions. The full
source code is available. Unlike most Unix operating systems, Minix uses a micro
kernel based design.
Graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for Unix were available in the early 1980 s but
all were proprietary and communication at the graphical level between two different
Unix platforms was generally not possible. This situation was remedied when the
Athena Project at MIT provided a standard platform independent graphical interface
for Unix and other operating systems that can be used over a network. It is usually
referred to as the X Window System, X11, or simply X. The X Window System has
continued to this day to be the main graphical interface for Unix. It was primarily

Color
The main cause of Skin Cancer is exposure to the sun. Caucasians are more at risk
for skin cancer because people with Darker Skin are more evolved to black out the
sun. The age that Skin cancer typically occurs is after 50. The incidence of skin
cancer is greater in older individuals. The amount of light reaches the North and
South Poles in a predictable manner. The map shows all one color near the poles. The
latitude that receives the greatest amount of UV light is the equator. Based on this

The effect of UV light on folate levels makes the count drop. Folate is linked to
natural selection because the folates deplete from UV light exposure, which
causes less births through miscarriages or birth defects. The skin tones related to
higher folate levels are lighter skin tones. In my opinion, if someone lived in a
region further from the equator and had no history of skin cancer, they would be
able to have Children easier. Genetics, UV exposure, and folate levels all have to
do with skin cancer and reproduction. A light skinned person living in the tropics,
after a while, could have trouble reproducing. A light skinned person living in a
polar region would most likely have no problems reproducing. A dark skinned
person living in the tropics would most likely have no problems reproducing. A
dark skinned person living in the polar region would most likely have no problems
reproducing. At a polar latitude, the inhabitants would be lightly pigmented. Their
folates would be high. In a tropical area, the inhabitants would most likely be darkly
pigmented. They would have low folate levels. Darker skinned individuals are
situated more near the equator and have less folates. The opposite goes for light
skinned people. Vitamin D is linked to Natural selection because Vitamin D is
essential for normal growth, calcium absorption,

associated with the kind of romance that is meant to be . At a certain point in our
lives, we encounter an individual whom we feel an immediate connection to. There is
a belief that if two hearts are meant for each other, fate will bring the two individuals
together. Until now, this idea continues to bewilder people and it makes them think
whether fate and destiny truly exists or are important encounters just a coincidence.

preoccupation with fantasy rather than facing reality. Haruki Murakami is known for
his unique writing style since he effectively blends normality with surrealism.
Majority of his short stories deal with recurring melancholic themes such as loss and
loneliness. In addition, his stories are usually in the first person narrativefor he wants
his main character to be an independent being who values solitude over romance. All
of these characteristics are well manifested in the short storythat will be analyzed. On

Miller, 1 This research paper is about the punishment vs. treatment for drugs. After
doing research, it is seen that the possible punishment is accorded to the amount of
offenses, the type of drug, a number of drugs, and the intentions with it. Different
therapies and rehabilitation centers offer treatment dealing with the drug that was
used. While criminal activity regarding drug use should punish and dealt with,
however, more people will benefit in the long term if criminal drug abusers receive
treatment rather than just punishment. There are many possible treatments to try and
help the person cope with getting away from drugs.
The punishment of drugs may be considered a little harsh. For instance, possession
of personal use of marijuana could result in a class 3 misdemeanor charge and up to
a $200 fine if it s 0.5 of an ounce. (norml.org) Often this criminalization fails to
address the real problems the users need help with. Each state and the federal

The laws in this nation vary so much that it has become an unfair system of justice as
all of the laws aren t equivalent to each and every state. Imprisonment is a fair
consequence depending on the amount of time given but providing punishment only
cannot help and teach someone to overcome their drug dependency. A combination is
best in this situation because if the drugs being used are against the law then prison is
a fair consequence and the treatment offers the person a new, better and more positive
What Does Moral Relativism Means
Relativism is the idea that some element or aspect of experience or culture is
relative to (or dependent on) some other element or aspect. Therefore, as Aristotle
expressed it, things are what they are only relative to other things, and nothing is
what it is simply in virtue of itself. (Basic Philosophy) Moral Relativismis the position
that moral or ethical propositions do not reflect objective and/or universal moral
truths, but instead make claims relative to social, cultural, historical or personal
circumstances. (Basic Philosophy) Relativism claims that ethics are relative to
individuals, groups, cultures, and societies. Relativism resists universal norms and

Female babies in particular are likely to be killed at the parents choice with no
shame attached. As for America people we would probably think that they beliefs
are wrong compared to our beliefs. But who are we to say if it is right or wrong
because different societies have different codes and the moral code of a society
determines what is right or wrong in that society. Calling the action right in that
society makes it right, at least within that society. There is no objective standard that
can be used to judge one society s code against another. Is it arrogant to judge other
cultures are should we be tolerant of them? We need to ask the question: but is it
true? One way to get at the truth is realizing it is self defeating. We cannot criticize
know other culture judgement if they are following their moral code. But according
to moral relativism, there is not a single true or just morality. We tend to believe that
what is good for some people is not necessarily good for others. On the other hand,
we also argue with one another all the time about what actually is right and wrong.
We do not seem to accept the view that there is no better
Essay about The Benefits of Animal Testing are Too Great...
Animal Testing Animal testing began when William Harvey used animals 400 years
ago to find out how blood circulated through the body. The modern era of animal
research however started about 150 years ago with the rise of physiology as a science.
It was very different back then. There were no anesthetics or effective painkillers, so
the animals suffered a great deal, as did patients. Scientists learned that putting
animals, or humans through that type of torture was inhumane. Consider having to
have a leg amputated, which was not uncommon in those days due to the fact that
infections got very severe without the use of antibiotics, without even so much as an
anesthetic to control the pain. Now the treatment is there to help the pain, so... Show

It is very difficult, and in most cases simply not yet possible, to develop non animal
methods to replace the use of living animals. (RDS 2006).
There are many myths to animal testing. Many groups such as Animal Liberation
Front (ALF) contest that domestic animals are not receiving their rights and that
this is not justice. (BBC. 2006) However, studies have shown and proven that only
0.4% of all research animals are cats, dogs, and monkeys. 80% of animals being
used are mice, rats, fish, amphibians, birds, rabbits, and the occasional pig or sheep.
No matter what the animal, being used, a licensed breeder must specially breed it.
Another issue that is a big deal, yet is easily justified is the anesthetics. Anesthesia is
used to prevent suffering. Most procedures (60% in the UK) are so mild that giving
an anesthetic would mean more suffering than the experiment itself. (RDS 2006).
Members of PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals
) suggested that
animals are not the same as humans so there is no logical reason to why they should
test products on animals. Obviously there are differences between animals and
people. Under the skin or fur, the biology of humans and other mammals is
surprisingly similar. People have the same organs, controlled by the same nerves and
hormones, like other species. When there are differences, researchers know about
them. The differences can actually help scientific

Rome During Medieval Times

Rome was like during Medieval Times. The article explained the collapse of The

Descriptive Essay About My Father
Sometimes I think I know everything there is to know about my father. I know he
only shaves when the greys start to show. I know he likes green tea better than
black. He watches Hallmark movies at Christmas because it reminds him of Gran.
He likes to wear plaid ironically. He watched me being born when he was
seventeen years old. He tells me he loves me, not every day but every week at
least. He doesn t have to say it too often. He just loves. Even when Angelo left, he
kept loving him. He kept the little shells they had found on the beach when we drove
to the Great Salt Lake. They re lined up in a row on the bathroom windowsill. He
also kept Angelo s shirts, the ones he left behind. He wears them sometimes; the
ones with holes from where sparks burned the fabric for Angelo s welding projects.
We ve got one of those, too. A welding piece. It s a bird that has its wings up in a V.
It s in the front yard of the cabin, rusty and brown. It gets older every month. Dad
says it s sad that he s gone. That s why it s dying. As if it s a real, living creature.
As if it breathes, like it holds some piece of Angelo, like it s a beacon that will
bring him back. Dad sees beauty in the metal and the edges. I see sharp points, a
twisted back, an open mouth caught saying something like why do youalways do this
to us or don t make this my fault or don t be so fucking sensitive. If there s
something I don t know about my dad, it s how he lived with it for so long. The
cabin we live in is more of an insulated shed. It has two lofts, a bathroom, and one
big space for the couch and kitchen and the fold down table. It was the hunting cabin
that Grampa used when he was alive. It s deep in the woods, connected to the road
by a mile long driveway.
We re twenty miles from Little Pesos, which has the Walmart, library/church,
ranger station and the charter high school. I walk three miles to get to the bus stop
that takes me the rest of the way. We have classes from April to October. In winter,
the weather is too unpredictable. Dad likes the cabin. He likes the quiet and the
trees that are crowded like cold children, arms wrapped around each other for
warmth. He likes to hunt, too. Grampa had showed him to shoot when he was a

This does not make a very good point. Clancy Brown played Byron Hadley, captain
of the guard, who was a nasty and brutal man that had the position of the warden?s
right hand man. A guy who gives beatings left and right each time showing the
audience a little more about whom his character really is. There?s no way he would
have done one extra thing than the minimum his deal with Andy required. This might
be a small thing to point out, but it shows the director?s desire to smooth over and
gloss up the story.
Red?s search for the tree in the film makes it seem like he finds the fence and the
tree almost immediately. He was only dropped off and just looked around for a
while and there it was. ?A rock with no earthly business in a Maine hayfield? (99).
There is a paragraph of description in the book that could have been used as a good
voice over for the film. Therefore, not adding on more second to the running time,
but really improving the moment in the story. In the book, Red talks about looking
every weekend for weeks, walking around not knowing if the spot he is looking for
had turned into a shopping center or a housing project. Why cut this part out of the
movie? For all the viewer knows, the director may not of had enough time to fit in
such a small yet important part to the film.
The last scene of the film is just like the beer subject mentioned earlier. The director
continues to make his so called improvements. The book ends
Tips For Running An Applied Behavior Analysis
The following five tips for running an applied behavior analysis business can be
utilized whether your ABA business is already established and growing or if you are
currently in the process of building your business from the ground up.
5 Tips for Running Your ABA Business
1. Succession Planning
Obviously, every ABA business needs to work on retaining their current employees;
however, neglecting to plan for absenteeism and turnover makes the life of your
loyal, healthy and happy employees more difficult. Moreover, the persons being
served may not receive the high quality care that your business strives to provide.
High Turnover Rates within the Human Service Industry Must be Addressed
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some of the highest employee turnover
rates occur within the human service industry and applied behavior analysis therapy
rests directly in the center of this arena. For this reason, ABA business owners must
accept the fact that employees will leave. However, this undeniable reality can be
prepared for through the creation of a comprehensive plan designed to address
unexpected employee turnover. Furthermore, employee absenteeism due to
unpredictable life events (i.e., illness, injuries, emergencies, etc.) can also be
prepared for while creating this plan. Succession Planning, Defined Succession
planning can be defined as simply building a talent pool that consists of employees
who have leadership qualities. You need to identify the

Abstract:
In a global economy, mining the opinion relations between opinion targets and
opinion words was the key to collective extraction. To this end, the most adopted
techniques have been nearest neighbor rules and syntactic patterns. To improve the
performance of these methods, we can specially design exquisite, high precision
patterns. However, with an increase in corpus size, this strategy is likely to miss
more items and has lower recall. In this paper proposes a novel approach based on
the partially supervised alignment model, which regards identifying opinion relations
as an alignment process. Compared to the traditional unsupervised alignment model,
the proposed model obtains better precision because of the usage of partial
supervision. Compared to syntax based methods, our word alignment model
effectively alleviates the negative effects of parsing errors when dealing with
informal online texts. The objective is to propose a method based on a monolingual
Word alignment model (WAM). An opinion target can find its corresponding
modifier through word alignment. In addition, the WAM can integrate
Determination In Society Today
As Colin Powell put it wisely A dream doesn t become reality through magic; it takes
sweat, determination and hard work. Unfortunately though, it seems that in America
countless people have set aside the attributes of determination and hard work, and
have taken up the unfortunate characteristic of laziness and irresoluteness. In today
s day and age, we have given ourselves over to a lack of dedication and
determination contrary to those who preceded us. If we do not fix this problem, it
will become greatly detrimental to the United Statesof America. All in all,
Determination has brought America through troubled times, stands as one of the
most overlooked attributes in our community today, and if practiced today has the

Association for the Brooklyn Nets, throughout his life has shown great
determination not only in Basketball but also in other fields as well. After

that he would go to Harvard and play basketball their while recieving a solid

Curcumin is a very active compound and is responsible for the yellow color of
turmeric which has antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties that can have a
significant effect on osteoarthritis by the protection of chondrocytes. The aim of this

All Time Bulls Research Paper
For the past week or two, we ve been hearing about this debate about the All Time
Lakers against the All Time Bulls. Every basketball fan on social media has shared
their thoughts on this matchup of All Time teams. It s even gotten to the point where
Scottie Pippen and Shaquille O Neal went at it with each other via Instagram. All
Time Bulls Team that ll consist of Michael Jordanand Scottie Pippen taking on a
Lakers team that s stacked with nothing but Hall of Famers, is an intriguing
discussion but is it really a huge debate? If the two teams were to meet in let s say
a seven game series, would it even be close? Some think Chicago would win while
others believe that the Lakers would dominate and that I wouldn t be close. I m on

I mean you ll have Magic, who is a pass first point guard, dishing out to the likes of
Kobe, Shaq, West, and Kareem on top of keeping defenders on their heels. Bulls
would have to really figure out how to slow that down and I don t think Rose is
the guy to really do that. I do believe the Bulls have an advantage at the Small
Forward and Shooting Guard position. Yes Laker fans I would have to give the
edge to Pippen over Jerry West seeing Scottie was a lot more athletic and was
pretty good defensive player, while Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are about
equal. They re very identical when you look at them on film but I give the
slightest of slight edge to Jordan on this one. The huge disadvantage comes in the
post where you have Kareem and Shaq for the Lakers and Horace Grant and
Dennis Rodman for the Bulls. Now offensively realistically the Lakers would have
an issue because A: Both Kareem and Shaq are centers and B: Both will clog up
likely clog up the post, but even with that Kareem and Shaq too much for Grant
and Rodman. Rodman would do whatever to grab rebounds and was a pretty good
defensive player while Grant was a solid starter on some pretty good teams but
when you re talking Kareem and Shaq, that s a tall task for the two offensively and
defensively. The bench is also a huge advantage for the Lakers where it s

No Child Left Behind
In the case of No Child Left Behind (NCLB), is politics the enemy of problem
solving? By examining selected political controversies surrounding NCLB, it will be
demonstrated that politics is the enemy. Since NCLB s enactment, vast amounts of
research literature and news stories have been published on its effects, which
demonstrates the impact and debate generated by this law. The major goals of this
bipartisan legislation were to improve student performance through standardized
testing by using data from annual test scores to measure each students and schools
progress; to close the achievement gap between disadvantaged students and their
better off counterparts; and to hold teachers and schools accountable. All these
actions were to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The aim is to fix low performing schools. Schools and teachers would be held
accountable, for low performance and the law was considered by many to be
overly punitive rather than supportive (Jost, Ravitch). AYP leads to the next
criticism of an NCLB outcome: narrowing of the curriculum. Because so much
depends on how schools fare on these high stakes tests, in many schools, especially
low performing schools, fewer subjects are being taught, so more emphasis can be
put on teaching reading and math and less time is being spent on developing
children s problem solving and critical thinking skills (Ravitch, Stecher, et.al.).
Furthermore, to make room for honing test taking skills, less time is being spent on
teaching subjects in general. This practice is often referred to teaching to the test.
The fact that too much time is spent working on practice tests is more than likely an
unintended consequence of the law. Not only have schools modified their
curriculum, but also states have adjusted their educational standards so that they are
able to achieve NCLB s requirement of AYP of 100 percent proficiency. Students
fell victim to what many observers called the school districts decisions to dumb
down the standards for measuring proficiency. It s a lot easier to push down your
Erickson Reflection
This week we learned about Erickson and his theory on development. Erikson
studied under the Freud method, but unlike Freud, Erikson actually did research
on infants and children as they were developing. I really enjoyed learning about
Erikson considering I have a 5 month old at home growing away. It was interesting
to compare these videos to where my baby was in development. Another
interesting thing about this module was the James Marcia Identity Status which
consists of 4 parts foreclosure, achievement, diffusion, and moratorium. Diffusion
is when you have not really made a commitment to anything yet. This is typically a
high school junior/senior or even college freshman/sophomore. They have not yet
figured out what they want to do with life yet and honestly, aren t too worried
about. In my diffusion score I received a 5 meaning I guess I am in the middle. I m
not too sure if I agree with this accusation or not, but maybe that is why I scored
this number. Although I had my career path figured out and I was on the path to it
up until a few months ago I feel as though I have started testing the waters in other
areas now. These areas are still very close to what my original plan was. Now that I
have a family I am focused more now than ever to pick the perfect career for not just
me, but my family. I feel as though I have always been well organized planned
women, but throwing a baby, husband, and other life changing circumstances into the
mix has lead me to this spot
Parables From Jesus
Parables from Jesus The Parable of the Prodigal Son and The Parable of Lost Sheep
, written in the New Testament in the book of Luke, are both told by Jesus Christ.
Luke documents Jesus words to a group of sinners that illustrates reoccurring ideas
throughout both the parables. Both of these short stories both present the same
central messages. The first message conveys that, there is joy in heaven once a sinner
confesses their sins. Jesusalso implies that he is out to retrieve souls. Finally, Jesus
love for us is unconditional and both the shepherd and father rejoice when they find
something they both previously lost. Parable of the Prodigal Son tells the story of
two brothers that gained wealth from their father. One brother spends... Show more

Just like the Shepherd, if Jesus were to lose one... doth not leave the ninety and
nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it? (KJV Luke
15:4) The sheep can be seen as a lost person off the righteous path, while the shepherd
is seen as Jesus, who strays from the already saved to save another lost soul who
repents and confesses his sins. In The Prodigal Son the father in this case is can also
be perceived as Jesus because the father acts with the same compassion and
forgiveness that Jesus would by ... [falling] on his neck (KJV Luke 15:20). So all in
all, in both parables Jesus is seen as full of forgiveness with his arms open wide and
ready to save everyone willing to accept Jesus as their savior.
The Father and shepherd in both parables are elated when their one lost
possessions return to them. This same joyfulness is the exact joy that Jesus want us
to come and find when we accept him. The father in The Prodigal Son jumps up
with delight when his son returns. He has ... his servants, Bring forth the best robe,
and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: (KJV Luke
15:22) In The Lost Sheep the shepherd does the identical thing. He calls all of his
neighbors and friends to come celebrate with

USING QUALITY FUNCTION DEPLOYMENT IN SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS
SPECIFICATION Abstract. We present in this paper an approach to requirements
specification based on quality function deployment (QFD). We discuss how
techniques like QFD with accompanying tool support can contribute to the
development of high quality requirements models that are the basis for information
systems that are perceived as valuable by the stakeholders of the systems. Based on
the practical application of this technique on a number of information systems
projects, including both traditional development projects and the implementation of
packaged solutions, it is our experience that the quality of requirements specifications
can be improved by using this technique,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Different toolВ–support is available, going from simple spreadsheets to more
advanced groupware tools which enable a larger proportion of the stakeholders to
participate actively in the process. In the next section, we give an overview of the
SQFD technique. Then we evaluated the technique based on experiences using it in
different kinds of projects. We have evaluated the approach on to what extent it can
help in the process of creating requirements models of high quality. We conclude the
paper pointing to future work as we get further practical experience with the use of
the technique and tools. 2 Overview of SQFD QFD was first introduced in Japan by
Akao in 1966. Since 1984 a number of companies have used QFD with cross
functional teams and concurrent engineering to improve their products, and product
or service development process [24], including the development of software [8].
Yearly, several major international conferences are held on the subject, see e.g. [4] for
a current overview of the breath of problem areas attacked with QFD. SQFD [19]
focuses on improving the software development process by implementing quality
improvement techniques during requirements specification. In order to satisfy the
stakeholders under the constraints faced by a project, it is necessary to concentrate
the best efforts on those things of greatest importance. To do this requires that the
project team during requirements specification obtains the
Jamaica Kincaid s Powerful Short Story Girl
Jamaica Kincaid s powerful short story Girl is a mother daughter dispute. The
mother lists several tips trying to give advice and counsel her daughter. The way
the mother expresses her advice I would not consider as motherly, but more as if
she was a social critic. I visualize the mother as a representation of the damage that
society can do to a person s mind. It is hard for me to believe that this type of
parenting behavior used to be nothing out of the ordinary. In some circumstances, I
felt like the mother kept tormenting her daughter of these duties, so she could fulfill
the proper image to society. The poor girlwas being constrained. While reading this
story, I could sense the harshness from the mother to the daughter... This truly
Skateboarding Should Be Illegal
Skateboarding is Illegal This may come off as shock. Skateboarding is illegal in
certain states. There is nothing wrong with riding on a piece of wood with wheels.
In the skateboarding community, most see it as an art, lifestyle, and a passion.
But what about outside of the community. What do the people of this world
normally think when they see a skateboarder? Most of the time people see it as
destruction of property, punk kids, and dropouts, but have you ever seen it from a
skateboarder s perspective, what is so wrong with this. How has this gotten to the
point of being against the law in certain states in the U.S. Skateboarding has now
been embedded as a sport and shouldn t be illegal. Well from the outsider s view,
skateboarding has been typically stereotyped as dropouts, druggies, rebellions in
today s society, and law breakers. Yes skateboarders are going onto private
properties and skating the spots. But it is there job in most cases. They get paid
from having a pro model board or skating profesional contents. To become a
professional skateboarder, you cannot just skate in skate parks all the time. There is
a formula to skateboarding. You first start out as a skatepark, practicing as much as
you can and building yourself up and preparing yourself to skate in the streets . The

This makes a bad reputation to the other skateboarders in the community who
haven t done anything. Yes it may say no skateboarding allowed on the sign. But
that phase skateboarders at all. There are times where the owner of the property
your skating doesn t mind the skating at all, but when they say you have to leave,
you should leave. A lot of skaters don t listen to this because they are trying to the
land a trick. If the owner says he is going to call the police then you should leave.

Analysis Of The Lady With The Dog
The term epiphany is pretty common in literary terms, and most often means a
moment of realization or self discovery. In a story, it s when a character discovers
an awareness or knowledge that really changes their views on life. They start to
see a new light as some would say. In the story of The Lady with the Dog, there are
four parts, and each of the four parts of the story involves an epiphany of some
sort, one way or another. Part I is really the start of it all, where we discover Dmitri
Gurav s honest opinion of women, and it is not a good one. He thinks all women are
pretty dumb, and even cheats on his own wifeall the time. He talks about her in a
degrading way often. She read a great deal, used phonetic spelling, called him
husband, not Dmitri, but Dimitri, and he secretly considered her unintelligent,
narrow, inelegant, was afraid of her, and did not like to be home (Chekhov 291)
He even refers to women in general as The Lower Race. He was a full fledged
misogynist and sexist, who like to play woman as a game. After meeting Anna
Sergeyeyna, his opinion started to change just a little bit. After their first couple of
meetings, Gurav had his first epiphany. He realized that Anna was different. She was
actually intelligent, and she wasn t as easy and naГЇve as all of the other girls that he
had achieved as conquests. He had actually met a woman that he could stand to be
around for a while, which would cause him to have to think about his moral views of

Impact Of Globalization In China
Globalization is affecting China Labor Watch Is there only a positive impact from
Globalization in our world? Globalization is a process that helps businesses and
organizations develop international influence throughout the world. Globalization
has impacted labor in China in a negative way. This process have created a lot of
labor Exploitation in China but not only that, it have also taken the education from
a lot of kids in China and it have make workers feel like they have no rights. This
process it s only benefiting all the business owners and not workers because for
those owners workers are just like slaves. The factories the produces goods for others
countries have really bad conditions. According to China Labor Watch (2015) if the...

Therefore, this workers are being affected by the working condition since a lot of
them have being suicide as the 2010 survey show because of the stress and
exploitation that this worker suffer in this factories and everything just so the
factories in China have good business and international influence throughout the
world. If the factories treated their workers better and improve their working
condition workers could have a better metal health and they wouldn t be
attempting to take their life. The factories in China doesn t want to improve the
labor laws for their workers. The owner of the factories does not want workers to
have benefit. According to Levin (2002) the factories in China does not want to
improve labor laws because if they improve labor laws they would be making the
workers have benefit and their economy will go down which that is the fears of all
the factories, also they are scared that if they improve the labor laws there can a
possible middle class created in China. This shows that the factories of China are
only acting for they own benefit which mean they do not care about their workers,
they are afraid that if they improve the working condition they would get less
Iago as the Perfect Villain of Shakespeare s Othello Essay
Iago as the Perfect Villain of Othello
Iago, the villain in Shakespeare s Othello, is a round character of great depth and
many dimensions. Iago works towards an aim that is constantly changing and
becomes progressively more tragic. Yet, at times, honest Iago does actually seem
honest. This essay will explore the complex character of honest Iago.
One of the most interesting questions that crops up is concerning Iago s motives.
What are his reasons to kill every major Venetian in Cyprus? Shakespeareseemingly
sets the stage for Iago s actions, giving him two distinct reasons to avenge Othello.
The first is the fact that Othello promotes Cassio, an arithmetician to the rank of
lieutenant and passes over Iago who is but a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Shakespeare portrays Othello as the general without faults, perfect. Yet, he slowly
reveals the weaknesses of Othello s love for Desdemona. For this love he will
forsake anything. Iago is quick to pick on this and starts working towards destroying
Othello through his only shortcoming.
Iago uses a gamut of devious methods to achieve his means. His use of Roderigo is
a masterly move. From being a Venetian gentleman, Roderigo becomes Iago s gull.
In the very first scene he gets him to confront a sleepy Brabantio and give him the
news of his daughters escapades with the Moor.
At the end of the court scene in the first act, Iago and Roderigo are left alone with
the poor doting lover in great despair. Roderigo takes a decision to drown himself.
Iago easily convinces him out of it by pointing out Othello s shortcomings. Says he,
She must change for youth: when she is sated with his body,
she will find the errors of his choice.
This satisfies Roderigo and Iago s hate starts taking definite shape:
I hate the moor,
And it is thought abroad, that twixt my sheets
He s done my office.
This is of course, unlikely and serves only as a justification for his evil.
In Cyprus, Iago designs a brawl with Cassio and Roderigo by having the latter
insult the former while they are drunk. This, of course, results in Cassio s dismissal
by Othello but it far from satisfies Iago. He then in turn advises Cassio on how to
regain his
Franz Ferdinand Research Paper
June 28 used to be added the wedding ceremony anniversary of Franz Ferdinand.
His beloved wife, Sophie, a former lady waiting, was once denied the royal statue
in Austria due to the fact of her delivery as a terrible Czech aristocrat, like the
couple s children. However, in Bosnia, due to its limbo popularity as an annexed
territory, Sophie ought to show up alongside him in reputable processes. On June 28,
1914, Franz Ferdinand and Sophie will journey Sarajevoin an open car, with
surprisingly little security, when the Serbian nationalist Nedjelko Cabrinovic
launched an automobile bomb; He left the back of the vehicle and injured an officer
and some passers by. Later that day, on the way to visit the wounded officer, the

Social Exclusion vs. Poverty Essay
There are many factors that contribute towards social exclusion in the United
Kingdom. Not all of these factors are as straightforward as each other. By
considering these causes, I will be able to explain why poverty is not the same as
social exclusion.
It states in the Introduction of Labour s next steps: tackling social exclusion , that
social exclusion is about more than poverty and unemployment, it is also about being
cut off and neglected by the rest of society.
The Social Exclusion Unit states that the definition of social exclusion is a shorthand
term for what can happen when people or areas suffer from a combination of linked
problems. They also state that the key aspect of social ... Show more content on

Many would argue that there is no Absolute Poverty in Britain and that it only exists
in third world countries. Many homeless people in Britain would disagree, as they
live in cardboard box communities, and are fed from soup kitchens, which is perhaps
as absolute as you could get.
A definition of Absolute poverty would be:
a condition characterised by severe deprivation of basic human needs,
including food, safe drinking water, sanitation facilities, health, shelter,
education and information. It depends not only on income but also on
access to services.
(Tackling Social Exclusion John Pierson)
A definition of Relative poverty would be:
the poor shall be taken to mean persons, families and groups of persons
whose resources (material, cultural and social) are so limited as to
exclude them from the minimum acceptable way of life of the Member
State in which they live.
(Tackling Social Exclusion John Pierson)
Although social exclusion and poverty go hand in hand, they are not the same thing.
For example, Continental Europe has seen a major rise in unemployment over the
past two decades without this leading to mass poverty. The European welfare state
has been remarkably successful in providing

  • 3. My Family As A Whole I can not accurately describe myself without describing my family as a whole. I come from a close knit family of parents, siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins and grandparents to which I am the only girl. That has provided me with many strengths as well as some weaknesses. My family has always included more than just blood relatives. We have had the mentality that if you are here you are family. For the most part that has been a great way of life, however there have been times that it has proven to be challenging. All of it however has shaped me into the person that I am at this point. Growing up surrounded by all men has enabled me to be many things. I am always up for a challenge, I do not like to lose and I tend to think more logically about things. I find that people seek me out for advice and I am able to give sound, logical advice fairly easily. My family has been very protective of me yet will challenge me to be better and step outside of my comfort zone to achieve something. I have learned to be inclusive rather than exclusive in dealing with people. We have often had family that is not truly related to us. When I was in first grade I became best friends with a girl named Jessica. The first time Jessica came to stay the night with us her mom dropped her off for the weekend. We later found out that Jessica s mom was a single mom and had just found out she had breast cancer. Jessica stayed during her moms surgery and recovery, all the while she was treated as if she

  • 5. New Seminole City Center Project For years, the overriding hope for officials, business owners and many residents of the city of Seminole was for Seminole Mall to be rebuilt and bring with it a vibrant shopping destination that would usher in jobs and prosperity. That goal seems within grasp now that developers have proposed tearing down the existing structure and building a spiffy, more modern design with room for a 12 screen movie complex, a fitness center, retail shops and restaurants (Lindberg, July 31, 2014). In this section, the redevelopment of the Seminole Mall into the new Seminole City Center will be discussed; furthermore, the assessment and analysis of the effectiveness of the policy initiative, with regards to the economic foresight and in relation to other city improvements. The policy initiative developed for the Seminole City Center project was completed using a Development Agreement (DA). The DA is the primary tool used to support economic development for the City of Seminole. The DA is derived from the 2015 Florida Statute, Chapter 163 and allows the developer and the city to negotiate certain items in the redevelopment process (Ely, 2015). It adds certainty to what can be built and how it is built. The regulation of the agreement offers assistance to the process while adjusting the agreement through terms that both sides agree upon before the final build outs. The DA becomes the primary social and political tool to ensure individual choices and the constitutional governance that
  • 6. Analysis Of Jesus Land By Julia Scheeres When an individual s pursuit of self awareness is disrupted, it often becomes characterized by the creation of an opposite in other people. This theme is evident in Julia Scheeres s memoir Jesus Land. During her period of adolescent self discovery, Julia is met with obstacles caused by fanatical authority figures in both her family and church. This struggle ultimately leads Julia to disown and even demonize her closet relation, her brother David. Although the book is a concentrated depiction of this pattern, the idea of othering is prevalent in our country as a whole. Specifically, gender othering always has and always will be an issue in America and the American Dream. Through the description of her adolescent experiences in her memoir Jesus Land, Julia Scheeres exposes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men counter women by placing them in subordinate roles. One theory behind this othering is that men feel the need to project their fraility and vulnerability on females as a justification for treating them as inferior (Arini). These supporting and domestic roles are presented by Christianity as the more moral choice. Most religions require that a woman concentrate on her family, appealing to the female maternal instincts (Arini). After years of being taught scriptures on being obedient, women convince themselves that they are supposed to be submissive. They quell their other aspirations and focus on getting married, having kids, and caring for a family (Arini). A study held by Lauren E. Maltby, M. Elizabeth L. Hall, Tamara L. Anderson, and Keith Edwards showed that increased scriptual literalism in males parelled directly with increased benevolent sexism. Benevolent sexism is the belief that, among other things, women should be kept at home in domestic roles. As a male s agreement with core Christian ideals increases, his tendency to hold sexist views increases (Maltby). Both men and women who accept the literal

However, the disease progresses to the point that the children have difficulty rising from the floor and have an obvious waddling gait. This decline in motor strength remains linear. By their 9th year some become confined to the wheelchair and by their 12th year most cannot remain ambulatory (Clinical pediatric neurology, Pg. 182). Other symptoms include large and rubbery calf muscles and in Duchenne muscular dystrophy an IQ that is significantly lower than the average, the mean IQ of affected children being of only 85. More importantly the pelvic weakness that prevented them from rising from the floor can increase to such a degree that breathing becomes difficult and some patients can die of chocking. How she climbed the ranks to achieve her goals and how she came into discovering her true passion of astronomy. By describing the events that made this courageous woman, we can see clearly how she set an example for her gender in the Nineteenth century. Women have always been at the forefronts of science, even though they have not always taken the credit for it. It occurred to her that this might be a comet. Maria recorded the presumed comet s coordinates. The next night the star moved again. This time she was sure it was a comet. Her father wrote to Professor William Bond at the Harvard University observatory about Maria s discovery. Professor Bond submitted Maria s name to the king of Denmark who had offered a gold medal to a person who discovers a comet seen only through a telescope. Another person, Father Francesco de Vico of Rome discovered the same comet two days later (Mitchell p.105) than Maria Mitchell and the decision was made to award him the prize before news of Maria s earlier discovery arrived in Europe. After some negotiations Maria Mitchell was awarded the medal for this discovery a year later. The comet was named Miss Mitchell s Comet. She continued working as a librarian, but now she was also receiving letters of congratulations from scientists and tourists were coming to take a look at the woman astronomer. In 1848 the American Academy of Arts and Sciences voted her the first woman member. The Association for the Advancement of Science did the same in 1850. Following Armistice Day a new era began. New ideas and trends swept over the world after WWI in the era called the Jazz Age. During the Jazz Age, Paris became the center of the artistic movement. Artists of all sorts from every corner of the globe traveled to Paris. Ernest Hemingway was there during this time, and his life in 1920s Paris is documented in his memoir A Moveable Feast. Even though the United States only took part in WWI for one year, the society changed drastically during this time. The seemingly perfect world that people once lived in no longer existed. The youth rebelled against the social constrictions ,and women started to do things unimaginable beforehand. Jazz was on the rise with musicians such as Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong taking the lead. The Temperance Movement attributed the carefree lifestyle of society to alcohol eventually bringing about the Prohibition. The Prohibition took effect in 1920 a year after the Eighteenth Amendment was passed. Even though there was a ban on alcohol the seemingly endless party of society still remained. The Volstead Act was passed in 1919 to clarify the Eighteenth Amendment, and created loopholes for purchasing alcohol. The act allowed people to drink alcohol if it was prescribed by a doctor. These types of prescriptions quickly became a new fad. Organized crime boomed during this time with the smuggling and sale of alcohol. Al Capone had rum from the Caribbean and whiskey from Canada smuggled through the borders. Secret bars called speakeasies were created to host the illegal alcohol intake. Since all of these dealings were illegal, speakeasies were always liable to be raided by a Prohibition officer. None of the money from the sale of alcohol went to the
  • 10. An Globalized World Burden Of Private Investment Is... Abstract: There is growing consensus among researchers and academicians that in this globalized world the burden of private investment is increasing over Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Because of a declining trend in public investment the task of capital formation rests over the shoulder of private investment and thus FDI playing a leading role in determining the fate of the economy. The economies receiving more inflow of FDI, are realizing a comparatively high growth and vice versa. This is also expected to be happen in India. The present paper discusses the relationship between the inflow of FDI and GDP. It has been found that FDI has a positive correlation with GDP. the regression analysis between GDP and FDI of different sectors also supported the same result which shows that FDI inflow in India is playing very important role in determining the size of GDP. Key Word: Foreign Direct Investment, Sustainable Growth, GDP, Farm Production Introduction: The process of planning in India has always been sensitive to the needs of the poor and the plight of excluded from its early days. Government of India sought to solve all the socio economic problems with the help of rapid and sustained economic growth, because our planners were working with the view that as the size of national income will be high individuals can share more and vice versa (Hashim, S.R., 2007). Mainly because of this reason economic growth has always been the centre of objectives of India s Five Year

This was a demanding job in which Bach composed canatas for the St. Thomas and St. Nicholas churches, conduct the choirs, oversee the musical activities of numerous municipal churches, and teach Latin in the St. Thomas choir school. Bach remained at his post in Leipzig until his death in 1750. Although he excelled his forbears and contemporaries, he did not receive the respect he deserved until after his death. Bach is now regarded as one of the greatest composers of all composers and is a source of inspiration for musicians. While Bach s musical career centered around Germany, Antonio Vivaldiwas the son of a professional violinist whose musical career cantered in Italy. Born on March 4, 1678, Vivaldi was a virtuoso violinist and composer whose works included over 500 concertos. Vivaldi s output was enormous. It is said that he invented ritornello form. If he did not invent this, he was the first to use this technique. In 1703, Vivaldi began an on and off relationship with the Ospedale della Pieta, a home for the female offspring of noblemen and their mistresses. Vivaldi remained working this post for much of his life. He did, however, take leave to compose many of his famous operas such as Ottone in villa, his first opera. Baroque music symbolized a changing in the times. From the early period, when Bach introduced his rich polyphonic concertos and excelled as a virtuoso organist and composer. The evolution of music
  • 12. The Value Of Taking Responsibility Essay The Value in Taking Responsibility During the late 1800 s and early 1900 s a series of laws and campaigns were instated to prevent forest fires. It was believed that forest fires would greatly damage the timber industry due to the loss of trees the forests would suffer as a result. The longer these campaigns persisted, the worse the forest fire breakouts became, and the forests continued to degrade. Many animals were also displaced and threatened as a result of these intense fires. Eventually forestry researchers and conservationists started looking at what fires did to the various ecosystems. They found that fires actually promote the growth of healthier, stronger trees by burning the weak trees and providing more nutrients for the soil. By suppressing fires, the forests experienced large amounts of degradation, and many animals were threatened by the loss of sustainable habitats. Controlled burns every few years actually benefits all the organisms living in that ecosystem, however, in some places it s nearly impossible to burn. After so many years of fire suppression the leaf litter has accumulated to such large amounts that any fire started would burn to hot and high for the forest to survive. Humaninterests often times have profound affects on the world around them. There are many instances like the above example in which peoples own self interests end up hurting and degrading the environment around them. In the aftermath of events such as this, there are many

Strategic Management Process STRATEGIC MANAGEMENT PROCESSS Strategic or institutional management is the conduct of drafting, implementing and evaluating cross functional decisions that will enable an organization to achieve its long term objectives[1]. It is the process of specifying the organization s mission, vision and objectives, developing policies and plans, often in terms of projects and programs, which are designed to achieve these objectives, and then allocating resources to implement the policies and plans, projects and programs. A balanced scorecard is often used to evaluate the overall performance of the business and its progress towards objectives. An organization, with a effective management, should try to implement its plans without signaling the fact to its competitors.[3] In order for a policy to work, there must be a level of consistency from every person in an organization, including from the management. This is what needs to occur on the tactical level of management as well as strategic. Strategy evaluation Measuring the effectiveness of the organizational strategy, it s extremely important to conduct a SWOT analysis to figure out the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (both internal and external) of the entity in question. This may require to take certain precautionary measures or even to change the entire strategy. In corporate strategy, Johnson and Scholes present a model in which strategic options are evaluated against three key success criteria: Suitability (would it work?) Feasibility (can it be made to work?) Acceptability (will they work it?) [Suitability Suitability deals with the overall rationale of the strategy. The key point to consider is whether the strategy would address the key strategic issues underlined by the organisation s strategic position. Does it make economic sense? Would the organisation obtain economies of scale, economies of scope or experience economy? Would it be suitable in terms of environment and capabilities? Tools that can be used to evaluate suitability include: Ranking strategic

The Punch List Obligations Of A Construction Project Manager The Punch List Obligations of a Construction Project Manager at Project Closeout ABRAHAM J MAJU (MPM 630 Project Closeout) January 2015 UNIVERSITY OF MARY, BISMARCK ND USA Abstract Most constructions contracts tends to be very specific in regards to the overall planned financial budget of the construction work, the expected quality of the job output from the contractor as well as the duration (time) that is allowed to complete the work. But it is very common that in most cases, it would seem that all that would be required to closing out a construction or any other type of a major capital project would be just to inspect it, accept it and see that the contractor is able to receive all his entitlements and final payments ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction Constructions project management involves the direct and daily monitoring of all construction activities and tasks, including all the construction methodologies that is being applied, as well as the personnel that directs or guides the project through every single stage or phase of its life cycle. It is pertinent to know that not all constructions jobs might not be successfully completed due to some changed conditions or unforeseen circumstances beyond control like the effects of nature and differing site conditions. Some of the constructions projects get rejected or are abruptly cancelled due to reasons best known to either the contractor or the client as the case maybe, but whatever happens regardless. Proper and effective closure is always needed on all constructions projects. According to the words of the author Joseph A. Griffin (2011) titled How to Close a Project , he noted that Closing a project should be treated as an integral part of the project plan. The closing process does not begin at the end of the project, but during the planning phase. Each step should be carefully planned and executed as any other portion of the project . Propounding on the suggested timeline for preparations of a project closeout, the authors Edward R. Fisk and Wayne D. Children over the age of 11 were to study in the new secondary school, and this established the principle of free secondary education for all, meaning that not only the wealthy had access to secondary education. These policies were directed at improving the living conditions of the poor. The new government showed that Britain needed to leave its Victorian attitudes behind and work towards improving standards of living for the lowest social classes. The foreign policies of the Labour government achieved success, even though most of these ultimately proved unnecessary and irrelevant in the long term. The most successful policy for the first Labour government was the Dawes Plan at the London Conference, which resolved the reparations dispute between France and Germany, and the USA agreed to lend money to Germany. This ultimately meant that France had to stop occupying the Ruhr valley, thus allowing Germany to continue to produce coal. However, in the long run this was a disaster for the UK as

However, the growing popularity of the IBM PC clone as a personal computing platform, and the need to have a system which students could work on encouraged Andrew Tanenbaum to write a small version of Unix in 1986 called Minix, for the PC platform. Although it originally supported multi processing with a single user and only floppy disk drives for storage, it evolved over the years to Minix 2.0, with many additional features not found in the early versions. The full source code is available. Unlike most Unix operating systems, Minix uses a micro kernel based design. Graphical user interfaces (GUIs) for Unix were available in the early 1980 s but all were proprietary and communication at the graphical level between two different Unix platforms was generally not possible. This situation was remedied when the Athena Project at MIT provided a standard platform independent graphical interface for Unix and other operating systems that can be used over a network. It is usually referred to as the X Window System, X11, or simply X. The X Window System has continued to this day to be the main graphical interface for Unix. It was primarily enhanced and

Different therapies and rehabilitation centers offer treatment dealing with the drug that was used. While criminal activity regarding drug use should punish and dealt with, however, more people will benefit in the long term if criminal drug abusers receive treatment rather than just punishment. Succession Planning Obviously, every ABA business needs to work on retaining their current employees; however, neglecting to plan for absenteeism and turnover makes the life of your loyal, healthy and happy employees more difficult. Moreover, the persons being served may not receive the high quality care that your business strives to provide. High Turnover Rates within the Human Service Industry Must be Addressed According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some of the highest employee turnover rates occur within the human service industry and applied behavior analysis therapy rests directly in the center of this arena. For this reason, ABA business owners must accept the fact that employees will leave. However, this undeniable reality can be prepared for through the creation of a comprehensive plan designed to address unexpected employee turnover. Furthermore, employee absenteeism due to unpredictable life events (i.e., illness, injuries, emergencies, etc.) can also be prepared for while creating this plan. Succession Planning, Defined Succession planning can be defined as simply building a talent pool that consists of employees who have leadership qualities. You need to identify the

Professor in CSE, GNITC, Hyderabad, A.P., India, manikvpatil@gmail.com Abstract: In a global economy, mining the opinion relations between opinion targets and opinion words was the key to collective extraction. To this end, the most adopted techniques have been nearest neighbor rules and syntactic patterns. To improve the performance of these methods, we can specially design exquisite, high precision patterns. However, with an increase in corpus size, this strategy is likely to miss more items and has lower recall. In this paper proposes a novel approach based on the partially supervised alignment model, which regards identifying opinion relations as an alignment process. Compared to the traditional unsupervised alignment model, the proposed model obtains better precision because of the usage of partial supervision. Compared to syntax based methods, our word alignment model effectively alleviates the negative effects of parsing errors when dealing with informal online texts. The objective is to propose a method based on a monolingual Word alignment model (WAM). An opinion target can find its corresponding modifier through word alignment. In addition, the WAM can integrate

I do believe the Bulls have an advantage at the Small Forward and Shooting Guard position. Yes Laker fans I would have to give the edge to Pippen over Jerry West seeing Scottie was a lot more athletic and was pretty good defensive player, while Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant are about equal. They re very identical when you look at them on film but I give the slightest of slight edge to Jordan on this one. The huge disadvantage comes in the post where you have Kareem and Shaq for the Lakers and Horace Grant and Dennis Rodman for the Bulls. Now offensively realistically the Lakers would have an issue because A: Both Kareem and Shaq are centers and B: Both will clog up likely clog up the post, but even with that Kareem and Shaq too much for Grant and Rodman. By examining selected political controversies surrounding NCLB, it will be demonstrated that politics is the enemy. Since NCLB s enactment, vast amounts of research literature and news stories have been published on its effects, which demonstrates the impact and debate generated by this law. All these actions were to... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The aim is to fix low performing schools. Schools and teachers would be held accountable, for low performance and the law was considered by many to be overly punitive rather than supportive (Jost, Ravitch). AYP leads to the next criticism of an NCLB outcome: narrowing of the curriculum. Because so much depends on how schools fare on these high stakes tests, in many schools, especially low performing schools, fewer subjects are being taught, so more emphasis can be put on teaching reading and math and less time is being spent on developing children s problem solving and critical thinking skills (Ravitch, Stecher, et.al.). Furthermore, to make room for honing test taking skills, less time is being spent on teaching subjects in general. This practice is often referred to teaching to the test. The fact that too much time is spent working on practice tests is more than likely an unintended consequence of the law. Not only have schools modified their curriculum, but also states have adjusted their educational standards so that they are able to achieve NCLB s requirement of AYP of 100 percent proficiency. Students fell victim to what many observers called the school districts decisions to dumb down the standards for measuring proficiency. It s a lot easier to push down your

We present in this paper an approach to requirements specification based on quality function deployment (QFD). We discuss how techniques like QFD with accompanying tool support can contribute to the development of high quality requirements models that are the basis for information systems that are perceived as valuable by the stakeholders of the systems. We have evaluated the approach on to what extent it can help in the process of creating requirements models of high quality. We conclude the paper pointing to future work as we get further practical experience with the use of the technique and tools. 2 Overview of SQFD QFD was first introduced in Japan by Akao in 1966. In order to satisfy the stakeholders under the constraints faced by a project, it is necessary to concentrate the best efforts on those things of greatest importance. To do this requires that the project team during requirements specification obtains the

In a story, it s when a character discovers an awareness or knowledge that really changes their views on life. They start to see a new light as some would say. In the story of The Lady with the Dog, there are four parts, and each of the four parts of the story involves an epiphany of some sort, one way or another. Part I is really the start of it all, where we discover Dmitri Gurav s honest opinion of women, and it is not a good one. He thinks all women are pretty dumb, and even cheats on his own wifeall the time. He talks about her in a degrading way often. She read a great deal, used phonetic spelling, called him husband, not Dmitri, but Dimitri, and he secretly considered her unintelligent, narrow, inelegant, was afraid of her, and did not like to be home (Chekhov 291) He even refers to women in general as The Lower Race. He was a full fledged misogynist and sexist, who like to play woman as a game. After meeting Anna Sergeyeyna, his opinion started to change just a little bit. After their first couple of meetings, Gurav had his first epiphany. He realized that Anna was different. Iago is quick to pick on this and starts working towards destroying Othello through his only shortcoming. Iago uses a gamut of devious methods to achieve his means. His use of Roderigo is a masterly move. From being a Venetian gentleman, Roderigo becomes Iago s gull. In the very first scene he gets him to confront a sleepy Brabantio and give him the news of his daughters escapades with the Moor. At the end of the court scene in the first act, Iago and Roderigo are left alone with the poor doting lover in great despair. Roderigo takes a decision to drown himself.
