Cause And Effect Essay On Global Warming
Writing an essay on the cause and effect of global warming is no easy task, as it requires a deep
understanding of scientific concepts, environmental issues, and their interconnectedness. The
complexity of this topic demands comprehensive research to gather accurate data and credible
sources. One must delve into the intricacies of climate change, greenhouse gas emissions, and
their impact on the Earth's ecosystems.
Crafting a coherent and persuasive argument requires the ability to navigate through a vast
amount of information, synthesizing it into a well-structured essay that clearly conveys the cause-
and-effect relationships associated with global warming. Furthermore, addressing the gravity of
the issue necessitates a balanced presentation of facts, while also acknowledging the diverse
perspectives within the scientific community.
Expressing the urgency of taking action to mitigate the effects of global warming adds another
layer of complexity to the essay. It involves discussing potential solutions, policy implications,
and the global cooperation needed to address this pressing environmental challenge. Finding the
right balance between presenting alarming facts and maintaining a hopeful tone can be a delicate
task, as the essay should inspire action rather than despair.
In conclusion, writing a cause and effect essay on global warming demands not only a strong
command of the subject matter but also the ability to convey complex information in a
compelling and accessible manner. It's a challenging endeavor that requires thorough research,
critical thinking, and effective communication skills.
For those who find themselves grappling with such assignments or facing time constraints, it's

The warm house spreads an aura of holiday cheer throughout the crisp, cool air.
Hoards of family members pile through the front door, with young couples stopping
just below the archway for a little peck under the mistletoe. Thousands for cars line
the street and I immediately notice my mother outside wearing her bright red
Christmas sweater greeting all of my family. I wave and she grins and waves back
pointing out a spot for my uncle to park the car.
I leap out of my uncle s beat up car, officially bored out of my mind from Christmas
mass. My breath creates a hazy cloud in the dark sky. The dim luminaries along the
sidewalk guide me to the door, and I am greeted by my mother who kisses me on
top of my forhead and greets my uncle. It s a family tradition to dress as famous
Christmas characters; there s something very bizarre about seeing your cousins
dressed as Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, and of course, Rudolph the Red Nosed
Reindeer. After 13 long Christmases, I have thankfully gotten myself out of having to
dress up as a holiday enthusiast. It s not that I m anti holiday or anything; I just don t
see the point in going overboard with holiday spirit.
Once inside, I meander past the piles of gifts, greeting relatives along the way. I
enter the kitchen and am immediately hit with the aroma of hoagies, chips, and
orange soda a feast fit for pigs. Dozens of family members surround the kitchen
island, and it s a
Colon Cleanse Pros
Everything you do in life has pros and cons. Moderation is a good rule of thumb
when it comes to your lifestyle. For example, sleeping, eating, and exercising too
much or too often is considered unhealthy just as much as not getting enough sleep,
exercise, or food.
Keeping that in mind, a Premium Detox and Cleanse product can be a good thing,
when used as directed or under the supervision of a healthcare professional, or it can
be harmful if you go beyond the scope of its intended use.
Colon Cleanse Health Benefits Debate

CASE STUDY
Ford Motor Company
Ford Motor Company, one of the world s largest automotive manufacturers, has
worked with Penske on several Six Sigma initiatives. As its lead logistics provider
(LLP), Penske s quality team of associates are trained in Six Sigma practices and
work closely with Ford to streamline operations and create and maintain a more
centralized logistics network. Together, they uncovered several areas for real cost
savings as a result of reducing inbound carrier discrepancies, eliminating unnecessary
premium costs and reducing shipment overages. Plus, Penske implemented
accountability procedures and advanced logistics management technologies to gain
more visibility of its overall supply network.

of the same parts and deliver it to another plant. Carriers with half empty trucks
would often cross routes with each other en route to the same plant. Aside from
being highly inefficient, this design allowed for excessive inventory and storage
costs at the plant level. To centralize transportation and distribution operations,
Penske implemented a new network design consisting of 10 new ODCs. The
ODCs would be a central delivery point for suppliers. Different supplier shipments
going to the same plant would now be cross docked into trailers at the ODC. Loads
would be consolidated and delivered on a scheduled basis to reduce the amount of
milk runs, less than truckload shipments (LTL) and premium freight charges. To
meet Penske s new transportation and distribution standards, more than 1,500
suppliers were trained on new uniform procedures. For carrier and premium freight
management, Penske s goal was simply stated: maximize carrier service, minimize
carrier costs. Penske refined Ford s carrier bidding process by placing more
stringent requirements on carrier partners. Carriers were now required to meet
specific safety, equipment and technological specifications; provide experienced and
certified drivers; and show proven experience of on time delivery/pickups. Penske s
new procedures required carriers to meet established route pick up and delivery

GTA 4
In the popular imagination, the number one draw of virtual reality was the shock,
the amazement, the sheercoolness of being able to plug into a make believe world
and experience it as if you were actually in it. From Pong to Galaga all the way up
to the best first person shooters, gamers crave game space that functions like the
holodeck on Star Trek. With the highly anticipated, audacious and award wining
release of Grand Theft Auto 4, or GTA 4, the wholly open virtual world is much
closer than ever.
From its very first version on the Commodore Amiga and its move to the original
PlayStation, the top down, strictly 2D perspective wasn t much to look at. However,
the wide open nature of the game was the best kick. Even then, if you decided you
wanted to follow the mission, fine. If you decided to set somebody on fire, that was
also a pretty good plan. GTA 4 takes the open game play even further than its earlier
versions, letting Niko the main character roam around, make connections, or run
amok.
Set in Liberty City, which the designers patterned after New York City, players are
free to roam where they want, do what they want, and even listen to what they want.

Joseph Fletcher Situation Ethics
Situation Ethics is a relative theory; this means that it is situation specific. It treats
each situation on its own merits. It is also consequential; this means that it is
concerned solely with the consequences of an action, not the action itself. Joseph
Fletcher was the scholar who created the concept of Situation Ethics. Situation
Ethics arose at a time when Society was becoming far more liberal and the
emancipation of sexuality and women and the civil rights movement all led to a far
freer society with regards to morality and following absolute rules.
Joseph Fletcher came up with the mantra for Situation Ethics, what is the most loving
thing I can do in this situation . He encouraged the use of Agape unconditional love
and the ability to act altruistically. This was written in his book Situation Ethics in
1966. The Bible was a great influence on Fletcher and his use of Agape. For
example, in Deuteronomy 6:4 6 love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all
your soul and with all your strength . This link to Agape as they are saying the love
to use is agapeic love. Another example is Romans 13:8 10, the only obligation you
have is to love one another; whoever does this has obeyed the law . In addition, ...

However, with the creation of Situation Ethics, their legalistic approach came under
threat. Bernard Hoose created Proportionalism, this was a mix of natural law and
situation ethics, this is saying that you should aim to follow divine law when
possible, but if this will not work, then follow situation ethics and love to create the
best action. For example, in the Catholic Church divorce is always seen as wrong;
however, it may be the case that actually the most loving thing to do is get a divorce,
especially when in an abusive relationships or for the betterment of the children s
Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Desert
After working in the field on a scorching summer day I was as thirsty and hot as a
lizard in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, without water for nine
years and nine months and nine days and being beaten down by scaring heat from
the merciless sun. The idea of water seemed foreign to me because there were none
around then. Suddenly, I saw a shiny, metallic water fountain and my body urged
me in the direction of the water fountain. When I took a drink of water, my parched
mouth felt relieved, as if I took a dive in a crystal clear pool on a hot summer day.
The cold and refreshing water soared from the water fountain into my mouth and
moisturized my rough, dry tongue. As the cold liquid sloshes down my throat, I let a
small smile as the icy water alleviated my dehydrated body. However, my body is
not only longing for water, but also as well as for sustenance. My stomach growl in
defiance as it was deprived of proper nutritional substance for the next six grueling
hours until dinner, which seemed to be in the distant future.
When dinner time arrived, I was ravenous. I was so famished to point that I could
down a full course meal in the time frame of five minutes or even less. When my
mom, my lord, and savior, raining down a plate of juicy steak sided with mashed
potato and a bowl of salad upon the table, my primal instinct urged me to force down
the food like a caveman back in the stone age, disregarding any sort of table manner
that existed, yet, with a
The Episode I Thought Was Most Interesting
The one episode I thought was most interesting was when the class first started and
they were talking about compound words. When Mrs. Detreick went to the front of
the class room the students got silent really fast. She then turned on the smart board
and pulled up a worksheet. When they were going over the worksheet she would have
the student come up to the board and their responsibility was to write what the
compoundwordwould be. After they got done with the worksheet she told the
students to take out their iPads and go to socrative. They played a game that they
had to decide whether the word was a compound word or not, this put a little
competition into the learning. After they played a few rounds of that the teacher
hand out cards that had one part of the word and they have to find the other student
with the word completing your word. Once you find your partner you will see a
number on the top of your card and you will go to the spot in the room that matches
your number that will be your group.
3. So What
During the first episode in question 2 Mrs. Detreick does a great job of connecting
the InTASC teaching standard #3 Learning environment. The first way she shows
this is by putting the worksheet on the smart board that way everyone can see it. She
then has students come up to the board and solve the problem of connecting the
compound words. She saw in her class that they respond well with repetition and
being involved. The second way she demonstrates this is by having
Analysis Of Happy Days And The Carmichael Show
SACE Stage 2 English: External Assessment: Comparative Analysis
Happy Days and The Carmichael Show
Sitcoms have existed ever since television was introduced to the family home, and
continue to evolve along with television and society itself. Traditionally, sitcoms were
centred around men, usually having only one or two female characters, however over
time, societal changes and movements have drastically changed the way sitcoms have
been presented to the public. Happy Days was produced in the 1970s; portraying the
traditional 50s white American family. The 50s were a time recognised for being post
World War II, the beginning desegregation, the rise of Rock N Roll as well as a
widespread sense of stability, contentment and consensus. The ... Show more content

Such tracks were inserted to cue the audience, letting them know when to laugh.
Each of the sitcoms both have easily identifiable sets, such as the Cunningham
home or diner in Happy Days or The Carmichael home in The Carmichael Show.
These sets work in conjunction with a catchy theme song that allows viewers to
instantly recognise the sitcom that is playing. Each of the episodes are self
contained, meaning that the sitcoms had moved from conflict to resolution by the
end of each episode. Humour plays a key role in the sitcoms, this humour is
mostly character driven; one liners at another character s expense. Occasionally,
there will be running jokes concerning a character s personality, flaws or
disposition. Each of these sitcoms also presents certain character archetypes.
These include the wise cracker, the bully/charmer, dork, goofball and the square.
The wise cracker is someone that lives to make fun of the other characters on the
show; this archetype can be related to Jerrod from The Carmichael Show and
Howard Cunningham from Happy Days. The bully/charmer has a rough exterior
although they are generally good natured at the core; this relates to Fonzie and
Bobby s ex wife Nekeisha. The square is typically the main protagonist of the
sitcom, this individual is slightly nerdy and a lot of the sitcoms comedy comes from
how they react to certain situations. Maxine is the square, as a result of her very
wealthy background she frequently acts out in
Stereotypes In Fruitvale Station
Fruitvale Station, directed by Ryan Cooger, released on July 12, 2013, consists of
moments where stereotypes were shown. Although movies have portrayed black
men as non working, Fruitvale Station exploits the stereotype that black men do
not like work through the use of camera shots. Ryan Cooger s Dolly out shot
moving away from Oscar (subject) and following Emi (store owner) represents a
change in power economically. The way Emi is positioned makes Emi seem more
valuable than Oscar and this position makes him seem like he is lazy. Additionally,
Oscar is seen as a shadow through the shot. Therefore, symbolizing characteristics
that black men display when they do not like to work. Secondly, the camera is more

The change in unemployment rate decreased by 1.1 percent. This adjustment does
not correlate with how the movie depicts black males. Notably, the movie contradicts
with the June 2015 statistics because it shows the decline of black males being
unemployed. However, In June 2014, the unemployment rate would comply with the
movie considering almost 25 percent of African Americanmales are unemployed.
After all, black men 20 and over in June 2014 employed (16,885) rose 61.6 percent
in June 2015. The number of black male workers in the Civilian labor force in June
2014(8,674) rose 35.4 percent. This data inexplicably disagrees with Ryan Cooger
s notion of black males. What s more, the preconceived notions seem to be
inaccurate following the statistics. Ryan Cooger attempts to describe black males in
the inner city as workless because of the notions social media filled America s
viewers with. Hence, the amount of people who are not in the labor force in June
2014(11,829) rose 18.7 percent in June 2015. As a result the number of people
incarcerated (particularly African American men) rose throughout the year. Needless

Decision Tree Analysis On Decision Trees
Decision Tree Analysis
A decision tree is a widespread technique of designing and envisaging predictive
patterns and systems. It is a tree structured design of a set of aspects to test in
direction to expect the output. Decision trees are effective and accepted implements
for prediction and classification. The value of decision trees is because of the reality
that, in compare to neural networks, it signifies rules. Rules can quickly be
articulated so that individuals can comprehend them or even directly use up in a
database retrieve language as structured query language (SQL) so that keep
information falling into a certain sort may be accessed. Decision tree technique is
mostly used for data classification, and it differed into 2 phases; the tree pruning and
the tree structure. The training data to create a test function, conferring to various

problem matters of high dimension can be incredibly decent classification

If we apply it to special data, for which the class is unidentified, we also get a

Essay on Soccer is an Unappriciated Sport in North America
Football is the most popular sport in the world. It is backed by a long history that s
incomparable to other popular sports in the world like basketball, volleyball, and
tennis. In fact, two of North America?s favourite sports in American football and
rugby were created based on the game we call soccer . So why is it that the original
game of footballis not as nearly as famous as in North American than any other
countries outside our continent? A real good reason for this is because soccer doesn t
have a great tradition in North America, unlike other sports such as American
football, hockey, or basketball. Also, the cultural difference makes soccer less
rampant in North America because many of us can?t seem to be patient enough to

Unlike soccer, much of our past generations grew up as spectators and competitors of
these sports, hence making us more involved with these sports than soccer. What?s
most important is that North Americans, especially from the United States, can
instantly recall many historical moments in a franchise?s or sport?s history, because
such great emphasis on the sports existed in the past. I can?t personally remember
the Pittsburgh Steelers? dynasty Super Bowl run during the 70?s, but because I?ve
heard so much of the victories and viewed many clips through the media, I can easily
name the starting line up of players from the 4 Super Bowl victories. On the contrary,
many people cannot even name a single star from the Toronto Football Club because
they never even pay attention to the team, let alone the sport that lacks tradition and
fame in Canada. Without a successful background, or a phenomenal turnaround that
provides excitement to the fans, we will always stay true to our past, and ignore the
game of soccer.
North Americans also find soccer lacklustre because of how the fundamental rules
of the game. Many other countries in Europe and Asia define soccer as a true
gentlemen?s game, but we see the game as a near three hour contest with little to no
action whatsoever. North Americans view soccer as just a big game of keep away
because nobody scores but one or twice during the entire match. Unlike many other
cultures, we
Stainless Steel
Harry Brearley invented stainless steel. My invention is stainless steel. Stainless
steel was invented in 1916. It was used for most appliances like washing machines,
some stoves, fridges, freezers and some pans. Stainless steel helped manufacture
many appliances. Before stainless steel was used people in 1821 they were realizing
that steelwas resistant to some acids. Some of the acids steel is resistant to are on
your finger tips. Stainless steel was first produced 100 years ago. Before the stainless
steel age, we used to only use ironwhich was a very popular metal. Now stainless steel
is used for lots of things like appliances, medical equipment and automobiles.

difference between steel and stainless steel regular steel has carbon alloys and
stainless steel includes chromium. Chromium is a chemical element number 24.
Chromium is also used in stainless steel. There are some other known chemicals in
stainless steel like nickel, molybdenum, copper, manganese, silicon, carbon, nitrogen,
titanium, niobium, aluminum, cobalt, vanadium, tungsten, sulfur and cerium. Some
of those elements that are in stainless steel are a really well none metal and element.
Some of those are copper, carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, aluminum, silicon, nickel and
titanium. Copper in the stainless steel makes the steel more corrosion resistant.
Carbon in stainless steel makes the steel more mechanically stronger. Nitrogen in
stainless steel makes the steel more corrosion resistant like the copper. Sulfur in
stainless steel makes the steel more mechanically stronger like like the

Class Dismissed Analysis
The Media Education Foundation (n.d.) documentary Class Dismissed discusses
the representations of America s working class from the early days of television to
the sitcoms of present day. The idealized middle class or the American dream was
and is depicted in ways that have molded the public perception of social class. The
film identified class intersections with gender, race and sexuality and the portrayal of
these roles through popular iconic characters and shows on TV throughout its history.
Televisionmainly financed by advertisers was and still is a subliminal means of
increasing product sales by influencing viewers to make purchases that enable them
to identify with being part of the desirable Middle class American Dream .
As the television evolved and reached more and more people. TV producers
disregarded the fact that Television s representations of people, class and their
intersections would impact the thinking of the viewers, it was considered merely
entertainment. The majority of TV Shows are commercially financed with
advertisers only concerned with pushing their goods and services. Each decade

Social Psychology And Multiculturalism
Introduction Psychology has become an integrated part of our real life. Psychology
affects life under different theories and identifications. For example, social
psychology and multiculturalism work together to create the social change people
aspire to. However, social psychology, according to Jahoda (2016), cannot explain the
link between the social behaviorand the social norms of the society and culture.
Hence, social psychologycould be a challenge when a person tries other cultures.
Furthermore, there are ethical related issues with theories of psychology that aim at
creating positive social change wrapped by multiculturalism. Being an international

Cognitive Psychology focuses on cognitive aids psychologists use to deal with any
issue. It investigates all aspects of cognition memory, thinking, reasoning, language,
decision making, and so on (Baron Kalsher, 2008 p. 11). To solve a problem using
the cognitive aspect, psychologists need to explore people s attitudes, beliefs,
thoughts, perceptions, and storing and recalling information at certain times. For
example, as a social worker, I have different needy people to process their papers and
help them with monthly benefits; therefore, I have to make a judgment about them
based on the information sent to the brain to process. Cognitive Psychology includes
cognitive dissonance theory, which creates harmony among people. More
importantly, when people are under a dissonance behavior, they behave differently.
The function of Cognitive Psychology is reducing one s inner psychological pain
through investigating elements of discomfort. For instance, cognitive mapping helps
to create a scenario of what the brain is processing reflected by people s life.
When people interact and affect each other, they work within Social Psychology. For
example, if a problem arises in a certain organization, a team works together to get a
comprehensive understanding of the problem. Social Psychology studies our
attitudes, interpersonal relationships and intergroup interaction. Bandura (2006)

Apache Case
What are the major risks Apache faces?
As an independent oil and gas exploration and production company, Apache is
exposed to a myriad of risks stemming from price fluctuations in oil and gas
markets. As we see in the case, Apache has 80 percent of its proven resources in the
United States, which puts the company at a disadvantage should oil prices rise
significantly. When oil prices rise, production tends to shift away from domestic
sources, as oil is relatively expensive to extract in the US as compared to elsewhere
in the world. Apache has also purchased a number of mature oil fields from larger
producers, and these fields tend to be more expensive to extract from, since
production falls and extraction costs rise as fields mature. ... Show more content on

Since the oil market was bullish at the time, the company s concern was that the
properties might be overvalued, since high current market prices would inflate the
purchase price for said properties. If prices were to drop in the future, Apache may
have over paid for the resources. For this reason, many other companies chose not to

to hedge their acquisitions in order to mitigate the risk of future losses. This strategy

which allows the company to retain control over development. Apache s executive

I Married An Angel Mise En Scene
For this post, the first video I had chosen was Jeanette MacDonald and Binnie
Barnes sang A Twinkle in Her Eye in a 1942 musical film called I Married an
Angel. By watching the clip only, I thought the style of this recording was like an
operetta. It had spoken parts to tell the light story. The sounds that came out of the
characters were very soft, even though the singing technique was more like the one
that was commonly used in operas, and the lyrics were pretty approachable. Also, I
had noticed that the acting in this piece, including dancing, was somewhat
exaggerated. I considered that those theatrical facial expressions and moves were
expressed to aim to please the audiences.
The second video I had watched was Jerry Orbach led the original cast of the 1980
Broadway musical 42nd Street to perform Lullaby of Broadway on the Tony Awards.
Clearly, there were more dancing components involved in this show. The
choreography was great because it could well coordinate with the lyrics and the
emotion of the characters, which allowed audiences to deeply engage in the show.
Also, the storyline was relatively clear, I could easily understand what was happening
at that moment without knowing the context. But I was shocked by the ... Show more

This show had a really bold subject matter which subverted the serious religious story
and combined it with the modern rock music. From one character performed as the
Jesus and sang hysterically to another one performed like a rock star in his own
concert, the switch of scenes was pretty novel. It was clear that there were a plenty
of modern elements had been utilized in this show. Meanwhile, the style of the stage
performance was amazing because I did not feel uncomfortable or awkward even
though it was still a little bit exaggerated. In fact, I was pretty engaged in this
recording when I watched
Taste of Cherry 1997 Film
Using the Rosenbaum Ford debate I will be analyzing how Abbas Kiarostami s
1997 film Taste of Cherry s epilogue and final scene comment on post revolutionary
Iran using the open image as well as how each has argued on what the scenes have
achieved in relation to the rest of the film.
The film has been mostly well received by international critics winning a Palme d OR
at Cannes but not so much in Iran as many felt it had problematic images of the
society of the time. It follows the protagonist Mr. Badii as he rides through the
outskirts of Tehran looking for someone to help him complete a task. As the film is
shot in Iran it will carry signs of post revolutionary Iranian culture already opening up
our curiosity to the cultural discourse that surrounds the film. What Kiarostami does
is portray an Iranian image and by including the epilogue raises questions of how to
transcend it.
In his writing Rosenbaum s argument that the end sequence acts as a relief from the
solitude of Mr. Baadhi s consciousness and journey that we have followed is based on
the motif of solitude that Kiarostami established throughout the film. He sees it as an
uplifting ending, one that gives the film a hopefulness that had up to then not been
present, stating that it is the opposite to the distancing effect felt beforehand that
Kiarostami had created.
Hamish Ford on the other hand has a different view, seeing the epilogue as a kind of
cop out on Kiarostami s part. Kiarostami creates a visual and

The Management Of A Small Institution
The origins of LJMU began with the establishment of a small institution which aimed
to help provide educational opportunities for the working people of Liverpool. The
Liverpool Mechanics Institute was founded by those with wealth, power, and
influence and by those who recognised the importance of education. These pioneers
also understood the impact that learning could have on individuals future career
aspirations, which in turn lead to the continued improvement of communities and on
society as a whole. This small movement was followed with the creation of numerous
Institutes, including; the Liverpool Institute and School Art, the Liverpool Nautical
College, and in 1900 Irene Mable Marsh opened the IM Marsh campus to the public.

This was the location in which I conducted the majority of my research in order to
gather the relevant data. Specific rooms in libraries at LJMU were also used when
recording observations and preparing notes for my study. Literature Review Some
of the initial ideas and founding features for the five factor model were theorised
by numerous different researchers. Researchers believe that the number of
personality traits can be reduced to five major factors, hence the Big Five and all
other personality traits can be placed within each of the five major factors. These
beliefs were first brought about by the findings of Fiske (1949) who was
conducting a study in order to gather supporting evidence for Cattell s 12
personality factors (Cattell, 1943; 1945a, b), which eventually became part of his
16 Personality Factors (16PF) questionnaire (Cattell et al., 1970). Initially Fiske
was trying to collect supporting data for Cattell s 12 personality factors though he
instead found support for five factors, this started an explosion of research
throughout the 1980 s and 90 s which continued to provide supporting evidence for
the five major factors. Since there were a number of researchers trying to theorise
their own personality models based around five factors there seems to be some
variance in the names provided for each of the personality traits, however, the
acronym OCEAN is widely used
Theme Of Religion In Cold Blood
Religion Never Sacrificed to Darkness of Circumstances In Cold Blood by Truman
Capote follows the story of two men who ruthlessly murdered a family of four, in the
small town of Holcomb, Kansas. The nonfiction novel follows the murderers closely
and gives insight into their thoughts and actions some of which confuse and disturb
the general populace. The inclusion of details such as the souls in sleeping Holcomb
(Capote5) whose innocence was murdered along with the Clutter family the night of
the silent shotgun blasts, the yellow parrot described in Perry Smiths dreams, the
argument held over penalties in the courtroom, and the final words Dick Hickock
heard before his death on rope for bloody crime (Capote 337), emphasize the theme
that religion is firmly planted in all actions even those which seem unfathomable to
most of society. In the beginning of the novel, Capote describes the community of
Holcomb as a peaceful congregation of neighbors and old friends (Capote 88).
Everyone was involved in 4 H with the Clutters, went to school with Nancy and
Kenyon, or attended church with the family every Sunday. However, their
attendance at the local Methodist church each week did not prevent the feeling of a
cold barrel of a shotgun pressed against each their heads just before their deaths. All
their lifestyle did was confuse the authorities, who thought Of all the people in all the
world, the Clutters were the least likely to be murdered (Capote 85). This imposes
Conscription In Canada Research Paper
It is a well known fact that through Canadian history, English and French Canadians
did not get along very well. French and English Canadians had many differences
throughout history, and as time got closer to the 21st century, situations between
these two groups of people got worse and worse. Their main differences, as seen in
the visual component of my CPT, were usually around times of war, when
conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World War II
situations that caused Canadato change forever. Therefore, the top three events that
really caused transformations in relations of French and English Canadians were the
conscription crisis of 1917, the Union Nationale of the 1930s, and the Official

Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally
stop the French Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with
each other. Therefore, he developed and passed the Official Languages Act, which
was an act that would finally recognize the equal status of English and French
throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all federal institutions
provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act
allowed for French Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to
finally be recognized for who they are. Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very
hard to pass this act showed French Canadians that the Federal Government had
finally recognized all the injustices directed towards them, and that there was no
longer any need for fighting between French and English Canadians. The
importance of this event is that finally, French Canadians were seen and identified
as actual Canadians , and this act is an apology from the Federal government
towards the French Canadians for all the injustice that had happened to them in the
past. The Official Languages Act was a way to show French Canadians that the
culture of the French was in no danger of disappearing (Patriquin, Canada s language

The Lifecycle of a Star Essay
There are more stars than all of the grains of sand on earth. (Star Facts, 2005:1)
Looking up at the sky on a vibrant night, the vision is naturally lit one with millions
of vivacious, glistening stars. The tenacity of this essay is to explore the lifecycle of a
star, thence, signify its manifestation in the universe. A fundamental part of our
universe is stars. Hence, these miniature luminous forms are essentially very immense
in magnitude and it is merely due to their substantial distance from Earth that they
appear so trivial. Scientifically, a star is a ball of hydrogen and helium with sufficient
mass that it can endure nuclear mixture at its core. A huge, shining ball of plasma,

The transportation of energy from the core of the protostar to the visible surface
layer of the star begins in a circular motion (as a gas). As a result, this stage
connects the gas temperature inside the protostar to the gas density this enables it to
have a polytropic structure. As a protostar emits, it shrinks in scope to produce the
energy that replaces the discharged energy. This shrinkage increases both the self
gravity and pressure at the protostar s core correspondingly. This balance produces a
connection between the temperature of the protostar and the gravitational resistance
of the star. Eventually, as the radius of the star shrinks, the temperature will surge to
the factor that it reduces, thus, its density will further increase. However, the visible
layer of the star doesn t become affected in terms of increase in temperature because
its location is set by the skill of light to spontaneously escape from it. Thence, the
protostar begins to become more opaque, less luminous, and as an outcome the
radiation of light decreases. It takes a long time for the star to reach its main sequence
because the decreasing luminosity and the increasing thermal energy cause the rate
of shrinkage to slow dramatically. Therefore, the protostar begins its brief life as a
charismatic star that diminishes in lustre on a timescale of hundreds of years. As
years goes by, the
Literary Differences In Beowulf And Grendel By John
Gardner
Although both books are written about similar topics, it is expression that separates
the two. In the novel Beowulf by Seamus Heaney, and in the novel Grendel by John
Gardner, both books explore what it means to recreate ancient english stories. By
reading Beowulf or Grendel, one can distinguish the literary difference in each book
when it comes to style of writing, format, and common elements in each book,
therefore causing the reader to compare the overall purpose of each book.
The purpose of Beowulf shines through it s Old English roots. While reading the
novel, the reader may notice the use of Old English on the left side pages.
Although this may be confusing to some, to others it connects the book to the
original ancient story that was portrayed in song form long ago. This connection to
the past creates a sense of urgency to the new writing, as if the Old English writing,
though meaning the same thing as the new writing, has importance to the overall
story as a whole. Without the use of Old English in the novel, the overall purpose
and importance of the story that was once told hundreds of years ago would begin
to fade. The use of Old English also brings a seriousness to the novel, as though to
remind those who read it that the words were once true to those who believed the
stories. Thus leading the reader to believe that the story of Beowulf was made and
explained out of honesty and made to inform the people that it was told to.

Poem Analysis- Robert Fross; Robert Browning; Anne

Robert Frost, Out,Out
1. In line 15, Frost describes the saw as being sinister. He infers that the saw has a
mind of its own, by stating that the saw jumped out of the boy s hand and cut the
boy s hand terribly. Frost also makes it seem as if the saw is in a way, like a friend.
He does this by demonstrating that using the saw is an advantage for the boy
because it is making his job ten times easier. Without the saw, the boy would spend
hours cutting through the wood. 2. In Frost s poem, the people that surround the boy
must be his family. It could also very much be friends, or members of his community,
along with the doctor and nurses working on his injury. The tone of the poem leads

Adrienne Rich, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers,
In her poem, Aunt Jennifer s Tigers, Adrienne is describing the protagonist s

Totalitarianism, Violence, and the Color Red in The Handmaid s Tale In literature,
the color red symbolizes many things, each with its own emotional impact. Red can
be associated with violence and bloodshed, or it can be associated with love and
intense emotions. In The Handmaid s Tale, Offred, chosen to be a baby maker for a
couple she was assigned to, desires to escape the dystopian society that she lives in.
Thus, Margaret creates a fictional government that uses totalitarianism, violence, and
the reoccurring pattern of the color red to illustrate the negative impact it has on
women, especially the Handmaids. Throughout The Handmaid s Tale, Offred recalls

They also wear a white habit, which blocks their peripheral vision when walking to

purpose. The desire to conceive a child is what all Handmaids strive to achieve.
When a Handmaid has her menstrual cycle each month, the blood serves as a
reminder and reinforces what they desire so much. Likewise, the blood red gowns
of the Handmaids conjure positive associations with birth and life as well as
pejorative links with suffering, shame, and female bondage to reproductive cycles

that the Handmaids have become fearful if they do not become pregnant. The
Handmaids that are unable to are sent to the colonies to perform hard manual labor
and are called Unwomen . This ideology has a negative psychological impact on
how the Handmaids view life; it is mostly based on survival. Throughout the novel,
Offred s and the Handmaids lives are dominated by the color red. Their garments
are red, the doctors who examine them each month wear red armbands, the
sidewalks they walk on are red, and the vehicles that transport them to view each

Polycephalum Essay
Physarum Polycephalum is a slime mold that has a yellow coloring to it and it
resides in areas of shade, cool temperatures and moisture. Not only does this slime
mold have the name Physarum Polycephalum, but it is also referred to as
Polycephalum as suggested by (Jabr, 2012). P. Polycephalum is a multicellular
microbe that feeds fungal spores and other microbes because the organisms are
heterotrophic (Sauer, 1986). P. Polycephalum is very interesting because it has traits
of both fungi and animals, which I find very interesting. It has this ability to move
around where it is located to find food by engulfing and surrounding it, and it does
this by going through enzyme secretion. Although we know a lot about this organism,
for many years it was mistaken as fungi due to the fact that it was thought to be
heterotrophic but through further analysis it was removed from that category
because they realized that fungi is not as mobile as this organism. P. Polycephalum
doesn t have a cellwall but fungi have cell walls made of chitin, which lead to the line
being drawn between these two organisms (Ashworth and Dee, 1975).
The most ideal habitat for P. Polycephalum is a moist and shady region but not only
is it suitable for P. Polycephalum but its also suitable for bacteria, archea and protists
that it feeds on (Jabr, 2012). When it engulfs its food, it grows with the help of
Phagocytosis and then it becomes a mass of multinucleate protoplasm, which then has

evolutionary psychology and the biological differences between the sexes and the
extent to which some of those differences are nothing but social constructs.
Evolutionary psychology and genetics are both fascinating and in this respect I found
Adam s Curse: A Future Without Men by Bryan Sykes and The Moral Animal by
Robert Wright the most influential and thought provoking. The illusionary nature of
social constructs and the misleading messages they give us about gender roles was
also beautifully illustrated in Pink Brain Blue Brain by Lise Eliot and Woman: An

The readings, especially Sapolsky s essays in The Trouble with Testosterone,
showed me that this link may not necessarily exist. In other words, our gender
specific behavior is not hormonally derived, such as male aggression being
assumed to be an effect of high testosterone. This classic nature versus nurture
problem came up in other course readings but Sapolsky s witty, accessible, clear
writing style likely had much to do with making it all stick in my thoughts. It
made me ponder how much of our behavior is really biologically programmed and
how much of it is a product, instead, of social programming deliberate or otherwise.
The arguments set forth in Pink Brain Blue Brain took Sapolsky s restrained
observations further, suggesting that small genetic differences between the sexes
grow larger and larger with maturity due to social conditioning. On the other hand,
Eliot argues, wouldn t it be better if boys were able to freely acquire beneficial
feminine traits such as nurturing qualities, and girls could freely acquire beneficial
masculine traits such as being adept at mathematics or to speak bluntly and directly.
However, she stops short of condemning all differences between the sexes and I
think that was a good decision on her part because, as The Moral Animal

Simulating actual test like circumstances has just never worked for me as I usually

A Young Woman s Fantasy in The Turn of the Screw Essay
A Young Woman s Fantasy in The Turn of the Screw
The Turn of the Screw, by Henry James, is an odd story about a young woman
who, leaving her small country home for the first time, takes a job as a governess
in a wealthy household. Shortly after her arrival, she begins to suffer from insomnia
and fancies that she sees ghosts roaming about the grounds. James is a master story
teller and, at times, the complexities of the story make it difficult to follow. The Turn
of the Screw is a story within a story, the tale of the governess being read aloud as a
ghost story among friends. Harold C. Goddard wrote a fascinating piece of criticism
entitled A Pre Freudian Reading of The Turn of the Screw. When applied to the book,

her employer gives her strict instructions [t]hat she should never trouble him (6).
So we see that she is never to communicate with the object of her affections again.
At the end of her interview, after she agreed to these stipulations, we are told that
when ...he held her hand, thanking her for the sacrifice, she already felt rewarded
(6). This description proves that the new governess is in love with her employer.
Later in the book, during her first encounter with the ghost of Peter Quint, it is
clear that she is thinking of her love as she says that her first shock at seeing a man

According to Goddard s theory, the ghosts of Peter Quint and Miss Jessel are
images conjured up in the mind of the unstable, young governess. Goddard addresses
this issue accordingly. To the reader, this may seem like a strange notion because the
governess is able to give a description of the ghosts that seems eerily accurate, even

a rebellion, and will not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we have no
voice, or representation.
The reaction of John Adams was less than satisfactory. He responded by telling
Abigail that he had laughed at her request. He called her letter saucy and told her he
had more to deal with than the request of women.
This angered Abigail and she wrote to Mercy Otis Warren on April 27, 1776:
He is very saucy to me in return for a List of Female Grievances which I
transmitted to him. I think I will get you to join me in a petition to congress. I
thought it was very probable our wise statesmen would erect a new government
and form a new code of laws. I ventured to speak a word on behalf of our sex, who
are rather hardly dealt with by the laws of England which gives such unlimited power
to the husband to use his wife.
I believe I even threatened formenting a Rebellion in case we were not considered
and assured him we would not hold ourselves bound by any laws in which we had
neither a voice nor representation.
This letter is a fine example of Abigail Adams strong feminist and strong federalist
views. These letters represented the turmoil felt by women during the uncertain times
facing the colonies. The views of Abigail Adams became the first in a long line of
cries out for women s equality.
The American Revolution may have won equal rights for

It also recognizes that the company can get maximum output from the employees by
ensuring they are always motivated and have the best working environment. One way
of achieving that is through ensuring that employees have a good organizational
compensation and benefits policy. A research on the company reveals that the
management of the company has put up several organizational compensation and
benefits for their employees.
Compensation and benefits definition Compensation refers to the rewards that an
employee earns from a company in return for the labor services they provide to the
enterprise (Martocchio, 2010). They include direct financial compensation such as
salaries, wages, and bonuses, indirect financial compensation such as retirement
plans, leaves, and education services, and lastly non financial services such as
advancement opportunities and career development (Martocchio, 2010). On the
other hand, benefits refer to the compensations that a company gives to its
employees on an optional basis in addition to their usual salaries. They include
disability income protection (dental, vision, life, and health), sick leave, paid and
non paid vacation, and funding of education among others (Martocchio, 2010). A
study on Ford Motor Company revealed that it has been providing its employees
with several compensation and benefits plans over the years. The management of
Ford Motor Company has been performing several reviews on
Corruption Of Power Essay
The body, mind, and soul of an individual are capable of becoming corrupted by
power. Power makes one feel as if that person was a God, which is a sign of the
corruption in that individual. According to Lord Actin, Power corrupts and absolute
power corrupts absolutely, states that power can make an individual vulnerable to
corruption. The second portion of Lord Actin?s quote discusses absolute power
corrupting absolutely which implies that absolute power can corrupt an individual as
well as the individual?s surroundings. This idea of corruption can be located in
fictional novels such as Animal Farm by George Orwell. Animal Farm is a story
about animals dictated by a former animal comrade. The dictator in the novel,

The absolute power Hussein possessed led to the absolute corruption of Iraq for
nearly twenty four years. During Hussein?s rule, 200,000 people were killed or
?disappeared?. Another major dictator was Adolf Hitlerwho dictated and killed
countless human beings. Hitler?s philosophy of thinking made him kill retarded,
crippled, and disabled children along with homosexuals and Jewish people. The
power that Hitler received when he became leader corrupted him and made him kill
six million Jews, nearly committing genocide on the Jewish population. The
corruption increased, with Hitler?s desired to expand Nazi Germany. In addition, the
dictatorship and corruption caused by power is also expressed in fictional stories.
Power corrupting individuals also applies to literature and fictional novels. One
example of power causing corruption is found in a novel called Animal Farm by
George Orwell. Animal Farm is a story about animals ruled and dictated by humans.
Eventually, the animals overthrow their human dictator, Mr. Jones, and try to form
their own government. After a pig named Napoleon was declared leader, he gained
power which caused him to become corrupted. Napoleon dictated the animals and the
entire farm throughout the novel. Napoleon considering himself as powerful as God
is an example of Napoleon?s level of corruption. One loyal and
Courting And Courtship
Being courted is what every woman fantasized about. That is if the suitor is
someone who she admires as well, but the guy doesn t need to know that yet. As
time goes by, ways of courting also changes. In the old tradition, one cannot just
approach a woman on the streets and ask for her number the courting needs to be
done in steps. They say that in the traditional way, courting is like playing baseball.
The man is said to reach first base if the woman accepts his proposal to go out on a
date for the first time. But it s really not that easy. If the guy is really serious and
sincere about courting the woman, then he still needs to introduce himself to the
woman s parents. It is always expected that the man must show his face to the
woman s family and even bring gifts. Going out on several dates is... Show more

No one can guide and teach the teenagers better than their parents. It is therefore very
important that teens wanting to pursue a relationship should first consult their
parents especially for girls. They should seek the approval of their parents first.
Teenage boys should also seek guidance to their parents in picking the best girl for
him. To understand better the role of the parents in courtship, understand first the
reason why courtship happens in the first place. Courtship is not a game, it isn t a
trial and error kind of thing but it is a serious matter. Courtship is something you
have to think deeply and decide carefully. You don t just do it unmindfully or it will
leave you with heartache and tragedy. That s why you have parents to provide
counsel and guidance. They have experienced going through that stage and have felt
what it s like to admire, to love, to be rejected and to be heartbroken. They know the
consequences if you date the person who isn t meant for you. So it is important to
heed and obey their advice. They will help you in choosing your lifetime

  • 2. The Warm House Spreads An Aura Of Holiday Cheer Throughout... Victoria Rosenblum Honors English 10 10/9/14 The warm house spreads an aura of holiday cheer throughout the crisp, cool air. Hoards of family members pile through the front door, with young couples stopping just below the archway for a little peck under the mistletoe. Thousands for cars line the street and I immediately notice my mother outside wearing her bright red Christmas sweater greeting all of my family. I wave and she grins and waves back pointing out a spot for my uncle to park the car. I leap out of my uncle s beat up car, officially bored out of my mind from Christmas mass. My breath creates a hazy cloud in the dark sky. The dim luminaries along the sidewalk guide me to the door, and I am greeted by my mother who kisses me on top of my forhead and greets my uncle. It s a family tradition to dress as famous Christmas characters; there s something very bizarre about seeing your cousins dressed as Dancer, Prancer, Comet, Cupid, and of course, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. After 13 long Christmases, I have thankfully gotten myself out of having to dress up as a holiday enthusiast. It s not that I m anti holiday or anything; I just don t see the point in going overboard with holiday spirit. Once inside, I meander past the piles of gifts, greeting relatives along the way. I enter the kitchen and am immediately hit with the aroma of hoagies, chips, and orange soda a feast fit for pigs. Dozens of family members surround the kitchen island, and it s a

Aside from being highly inefficient, this design allowed for excessive inventory and storage costs at the plant level. To centralize transportation and distribution operations, Penske implemented a new network design consisting of 10 new ODCs. The ODCs would be a central delivery point for suppliers. Different supplier shipments going to the same plant would now be cross docked into trailers at the ODC. To meet Penske s new transportation and distribution standards, more than 1,500 suppliers were trained on new uniform procedures. For carrier and premium freight management, Penske s goal was simply stated: maximize carrier service, minimize carrier costs. Penske refined Ford s carrier bidding process by placing more stringent requirements on carrier partners. Carriers were now required to meet specific safety, equipment and technological specifications; provide experienced and certified drivers; and show proven experience of on time delivery/pickups. Penske s new procedures required carriers to meet established route pick up and delivery windows within

GTA 4 In the popular imagination, the number one draw of virtual reality was the shock, the amazement, the sheercoolness of being able to plug into a make believe world and experience it as if you were actually in it. It is also consequential; this means that it is concerned solely with the consequences of an action, not the action itself. Joseph Fletcher was the scholar who created the concept of Situation Ethics. Situation Ethics arose at a time when Society was becoming far more liberal and the emancipation of sexuality and women and the civil rights movement all led to a far freer society with regards to morality and following absolute rules. Joseph Fletcher came up with the mantra for Situation Ethics, what is the most loving thing I can do in this situation . He encouraged the use of Agape unconditional love and the ability to act altruistically. This was written in his book Situation Ethics in 1966. Descriptive Essay On A Day In The Desert After working in the field on a scorching summer day I was as thirsty and hot as a lizard in the Atacama Desert, the driest desert in the world, without water for nine years and nine months and nine days and being beaten down by scaring heat from the merciless sun. The idea of water seemed foreign to me because there were none around then. Suddenly, I saw a shiny, metallic water fountain and my body urged me in the direction of the water fountain. When I took a drink of water, my parched mouth felt relieved, as if I took a dive in a crystal clear pool on a hot summer day. The cold and refreshing water soared from the water fountain into my mouth and moisturized my rough, dry tongue. As the cold liquid sloshes down my throat, I let a small smile as the icy water alleviated my dehydrated body. However, my body is not only longing for water, but also as well as for sustenance. My stomach growl in defiance as it was deprived of proper nutritional substance for the next six grueling hours until dinner, which seemed to be in the distant future. When dinner time arrived, I was ravenous. I was so famished to point that I could down a full course meal in the time frame of five minutes or even less. When Mrs. Detreick went to the front of the class room the students got silent really fast. She then turned on the smart board and pulled up a worksheet. When they were going over the worksheet she would have the student come up to the board and their responsibility was to write what the compoundwordwould be. After they got done with the worksheet she told the students to take out their iPads and go to socrative. They played a game that they had to decide whether the word was a compound word or not, this put a little competition into the learning. After they played a few rounds of that the teacher hand out cards that had one part of the word and they have to find the other student with the word completing your word. Once you find your partner you will see a number on the top of your card and you will go to the spot in the room that matches your number that will be your group. 3. Each of the episodes are self contained, meaning that the sitcoms had moved from conflict to resolution by the end of each episode. Humour plays a key role in the sitcoms, this humour is mostly character driven; one liners at another character s expense. These include the wise cracker, the bully/charmer, dork, goofball and the square. The wise cracker is someone that lives to make fun of the other characters on the show; this archetype can be related to Jerrod from The Carmichael Show and Howard Cunningham from Happy Days. The bully/charmer has a rough exterior although they are generally good natured at the core; this relates to Fonzie and Bobby s ex wife Nekeisha. The square is typically the main protagonist of the sitcom, this individual is slightly nerdy and a lot of the sitcoms comedy comes from how they react to certain situations. It follows the protagonist Mr. Badii as he rides through the outskirts of Tehran looking for someone to help him complete a task. In his writing Rosenbaum s argument that the end sequence acts as a relief from the solitude of Mr. Baadhi s consciousness and journey that we have followed is based on the motif of solitude that Kiarostami established throughout the film. The Management Of A Small Institution The origins of LJMU began with the establishment of a small institution which aimed to help provide educational opportunities for the working people of Liverpool. The Liverpool Mechanics Institute was founded by those with wealth, power, and influence and by those who recognised the importance of education. These pioneers also understood the impact that learning could have on individuals future career aspirations, which in turn lead to the continued improvement of communities and on society as a whole. Literature Review Some of the initial ideas and founding features for the five factor model were theorised by numerous different researchers. Researchers believe that the number of personality traits can be reduced to five major factors, hence the Big Five and all other personality traits can be placed within each of the five major factors. These beliefs were first brought about by the findings of Fiske (1949) who was conducting a study in order to gather supporting evidence for Cattell s 12 personality factors (Cattell, 1943; 1945a, b), which eventually became part of his 16 Personality Factors (16PF) questionnaire (Cattell et al., 1970). Initially Fiske was trying to collect supporting data for Cattell s 12 personality factors though he instead found support for five factors, this started an explosion of research throughout the 1980 s and 90 s which continued to provide supporting evidence for the five major factors. Since there were a number of researchers trying to theorise their own personality models based around five factors there seems to be some variance in the names provided for each of the personality traits, however, the acronym OCEAN is widely used

Theme Of Religion In Cold Blood Religion Never Sacrificed to Darkness of Circumstances In Cold Blood by Truman Capote follows the story of two men who ruthlessly murdered a family of four, in the small town of Holcomb, Kansas. The nonfiction novel follows the murderers closely and gives insight into their thoughts and actions some of which confuse and disturb the general populace. The inclusion of details such as the souls in sleeping Holcomb (Capote5) whose innocence was murdered along with the Clutter family the night of the silent shotgun blasts, the yellow parrot described in Perry Smiths dreams, the argument held over penalties in the courtroom, and the final words Dick Hickock heard before his death on rope for bloody crime (Capote 337), emphasize the theme that religion is firmly planted in all actions even those which seem unfathomable to most of society. In the beginning of the novel, Capote describes the community of Holcomb as a peaceful congregation of neighbors and old friends (Capote 88). Everyone was involved in 4 H with the Clutters, went to school with Nancy and Kenyon, or attended church with the family every Sunday. However, their attendance at the local Methodist church each week did not prevent the feeling of a cold barrel of a shotgun pressed against each their heads just before their deaths. All their lifestyle did was confuse the authorities, who thought Of all the people in all the world, the Clutters were the least likely to be murdered (Capote 85). This imposes

French and English Canadians had many differences throughout history, and as time got closer to the 21st century, situations between these two groups of people got worse and worse. Their main differences, as seen in the visual component of my CPT, were usually around times of war, when conscription was a very big topic. However, we cannot forget the post World War II situations that caused Canadato change forever. Prime Minister Pierre Elliott Trudeau decided to implement a solution to finally stop the French Canadians and English Canadians from constantly fighting with each other. Therefore, he developed and passed the Official Languages Act, which was an act that would finally recognize the equal status of English and French throughout the federal administration, and ensure that all federal institutions provide their services in English or French at the customer s choice. This act allowed for French Canadians to no longer be seen as a minority in Canada and to finally be recognized for who they are. Having Prime Minister Trudeau work very hard to pass this act showed French Canadians that the Federal Government had finally recognized all the injustices directed towards them, and that there was no longer any need for fighting between French and English Canadians. The importance of this event is that finally, French Canadians were seen and identified as actual Canadians , and this act is an apology from the Federal government towards the French Canadians for all the injustice that had happened to them in the past. The Official Languages Act was a way to show French Canadians that the culture of the French was in no danger of disappearing (Patriquin, Canada s language wars are over ), one of the

The tenacity of this essay is to explore the lifecycle of a star, thence, signify its manifestation in the universe. A fundamental part of our universe is stars. Hence, these miniature luminous forms are essentially very immense in magnitude and it is merely due to their substantial distance from Earth that they appear so trivial. The transportation of energy from the core of the protostar to the visible surface layer of the star begins in a circular motion (as a gas). As a result, this stage connects the gas temperature inside the protostar to the gas density this enables it to have a polytropic structure. As a protostar emits, it shrinks in scope to produce the energy that replaces the discharged energy. This shrinkage increases both the self gravity and pressure at the protostar s core correspondingly. This balance produces a connection between the temperature of the protostar and the gravitational resistance of the star. Eventually, as the radius of the star shrinks, the temperature will surge to the factor that it reduces, thus, its density will further increase. However, the visible layer of the star doesn t become affected in terms of increase in temperature because its location is set by the skill of light to spontaneously escape from it. Thence, the protostar begins to become more opaque, less luminous, and as an outcome the radiation of light decreases. It takes a long time for the star to reach its main sequence because the decreasing luminosity and the increasing thermal energy cause the rate of shrinkage to slow dramatically. Therefore, the protostar begins its brief life as a charismatic star that diminishes in lustre on a timescale of hundreds of years. As years goes by, the
  • 27. Literary Differences In Beowulf And Grendel By John Gardner Although both books are written about similar topics, it is expression that separates the two. In the novel Beowulf by Seamus Heaney, and in the novel Grendel by John Gardner, both books explore what it means to recreate ancient english stories. By reading Beowulf or Grendel, one can distinguish the literary difference in each book when it comes to style of writing, format, and common elements in each book, therefore causing the reader to compare the overall purpose of each book. The purpose of Beowulf shines through it s Old English roots. While reading the novel, the reader may notice the use of Old English on the left side pages. Although this may be confusing to some, to others it connects the book to the original ancient story that was portrayed in song form long ago. This connection to the past creates a sense of urgency to the new writing, as if the Old English writing, though meaning the same thing as the new writing, has importance to the overall story as a whole. Without the use of Old English in the novel, the overall purpose and importance of the story that was once told hundreds of years ago would begin to fade. The use of Old English also brings a seriousness to the novel, as though to remind those who read it that the words were once true to those who believed the stories. Thus leading the reader to believe that the story of Beowulf was made and explained out of honesty and made to inform the people that it was told to. When it comes to the writing style

Polycephalum is a multicellular microbe that feeds fungal spores and other microbes because the organisms are heterotrophic (Sauer, 1986). P. Polycephalum is very interesting because it has traits of both fungi and animals, which I find very interesting. It has this ability to move around where it is located to find food by engulfing and surrounding it, and it does this by going through enzyme secretion. Although we know a lot about this organism, for many years it was mistaken as fungi due to the fact that it was thought to be heterotrophic but through further analysis it was removed from that category because they realized that fungi is not as mobile as this organism. P. Polycephalum doesn t have a cellwall but fungi have cell walls made of chitin, which lead to the line being drawn between these two organisms (Ashworth and Dee, 1975). The most ideal habitat for P. Polycephalum is a moist and shady region but not only is it suitable for P. Polycephalum but its also suitable for bacteria, archea and protists that it feeds on (Jabr, 2012). When it engulfs its food, it grows with the help of Phagocytosis and then it becomes a mass of multinucleate protoplasm, which then has a bright yellow color,

This classic nature versus nurture problem came up in other course readings but Sapolsky s witty, accessible, clear writing style likely had much to do with making it all stick in my thoughts. It made me ponder how much of our behavior is really biologically programmed and how much of it is a product, instead, of social programming deliberate or otherwise. The arguments set forth in Pink Brain Blue Brain took Sapolsky s restrained observations further, suggesting that small genetic differences between the sexes grow larger and larger with maturity due to social conditioning. On the other hand, Eliot argues, wouldn t it be better if boys were able to freely acquire beneficial feminine traits such as nurturing qualities, and girls could freely acquire beneficial masculine traits such as being adept at mathematics or to speak bluntly and directly.
