Persuasive Speech On Conformity In Science
How bizarre would it be to live in a world where people still believed the Earth was flat? Or if
doctors were drilling holes into their patient s heads for migraine relief ? Luckily, we exist on a
planet where curios forefathers have already paved the scientific highway to innovation. If
renowned scientist such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einsteinhad followed the scientific norms of
their time, rather challenge accepted beliefs; they would have never made crucial discoveries that
impact our world today. Furthermore, people should understand that scientific creativity is vital for
progression. Resisting conformity is important within the scientific community; it is said that in
sciencepeople must question everything, and provide evidence to support their discoveries.
Proving or disproving beliefs have an impact on our daily lives, and the most critical discoveries
were made by creative minds.
Despite the advice of peers being highly valued, one should refrain from succumbing to the
scientific beliefs of others without question. In science, conformity could be described as a parasite
draining intelligence from humanity. In order to learn and grow, we must cultivate our minds by
thoroughly understanding the principles of a subject. However, most pupils have become
accustomed to taking their teacher s lessons at face value, and tend to memorize subjects in contrast
to than learning them. This problematic pathway to education results in students who don t know

Essay on Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will Propaganda
Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will Propaganda I am going to discuss whether Leni
Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will (1934) was propaganda, or a representational recording of an
event. Riefenstahl was considered an intricate part of the Third Reich s propaganda machine[1] ,
yet she claimed that: If you see this film again today you ascertain that it doesn t contain a single
reconstructed scene. Everything in it is true. And it contains no tendentious commentary at all. It is
history. A pure historical film... it is film vГ©ritГ©. It reflects the truth that was then in 1934,
history. It is therefore a documentary[2] It is clear that there are two very different parts to this

The Germans gave Hitler full credit for the improvement of the economic situation.[5] The fact
that Hitler was adored throughout Germany for his apparent rescue of their situation meant that
he was incredibly influential. People would listen to his every last word, but Riefenstahl was
not somebody who liked to work to anybody s tune. I ll try it. But only if I can be free after
completing this project and do not have to make any more films to order[6] This compromise
lead to a lot of tension between Hitler and Riefenstahl, and Hitler s idea for the opening of the
film was believed terrible by Riefenstahl, due to its lack of artistic merit I [Hitler] would
therefore like to make the following suggestion: I will ask the most important generals and
members of the party to come to a film studio I will be present too. Then we will line up, and the
camera will move slowly down the line. This will make it possible to emphasise the contributions
of each person with a few words. That could be the opening credits of your film[7] This idea for
the opening implies that there would be no emotion at all, and would not be something that would
influence people. It appears that Hitler s idea was

Inconsistency in Adam Bede by George Eliot Essay
Inconsistency in Adam Bede
In George Eliot s Adam Bede, an inconsistency can be found between Dinah s firmly held
convictions and her decision to
marry. Throughout the story, Eliot presents Dinah as a symbol of divine love who persistently
shuns all earthly pleasures of her
own for the benefit of those in need. Several passages in the text show that Dinah insists she must
follow the path God has
chosen for her and prevent her own needs and desires from rising to the surface. Despite her moral
protestations, however,
Dinah marries Adam in the last few pages of the book. This marriage is disappointing in another
sense as well. Dinah was not
only created as a symbol of divine love, but also as a figure who ... Show more content on

We see here
that Dinah is not one to be caught up in the external world. Her mind is occupied with thoughts of
what it has to give out,
indicating not only that she is charitable, but also that she is not in the process of observing and
making judgements. Her eyes
do not even appear to be making observations, but are instead simply shedding love. She is so
entirely absorbed in her
spirituality that in her mind the outer world is insignificant. This is evident in the way she dresses
as well. We are told that she
wears no adornments; she is always plainly dressed in a Quaker bonnet and a black dress. She does
not try to put on a false
front by embellishing her appearance. She is described as simple and candid (34).
Following this initial physical description of Dinah is a series of occurrences in which the reader
discovers that Dinah is so
selfless and devout that she denies herself a life of her own. On the very first night that we are
introduced to her we find that she
is resolved ...to live and die without husband or children... (45). Seth accompanies her home from
the service and makes use
of their time alone together as an opportunity to propose to her. She denies his proposal: I seem to
have no room in my soul
for wants or fears of my own, it has pleased God to fill my heart so full with the wants and
suffering of his poor people (45).
She does not even take time to consider the

Annexation Of Philippines Essay
The Unjust Annexation of the Philippians
No man is good enough to govern another man without that other s consent. Abraham Lincoln.
(Document A). The United States did just this in 1898, when they annexed the Philippines. The
Filipino people had been fighting for their independence against Spain for many years before the
US intervened. The rebels, led by Emilio Aguinaldo, were grateful for the assistance. The Filipino
people thought that the US had come to help free them from Spain. Unfortunately for the Filipino
people, they were incorrect. On February 6, 1899, the United States of America annexed the
Philippines, much to the disgust of the rebels in the Philippines and many people in America
(including Mark Twain, Andrew Carnegie, and former President Grover Cleveland.) The reasoning
behind this was partially for economic prosperity, thinking that the Philippines held the secret route
to riches by being a trading partner and a jumping ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

conquer them, making it a war of conquest and therefore unwise. To reinforce the point that you don
t have to own countries to trade with them, consider this. Today, the United States trades beyond
their borders, this second perhaps. The five countries that the US trades with the most are Canada,
China, Japan, Mexico, and Germany. The US does not own any of these countries. You do not have
to own a country to trade with them and since one of the United State s main reasons for annexing
the Philippines was to create a trading route, the United States was unjustified in annexing the

Operation Red Wings As A Multi Phase Joint Military Operation
Operation Red Wings was an operation that took place on June 27th, 2005 in northeastern
Afghanistan s Kunar province. The Afghan Parliamentary elections were scheduled for
September of 2005, and Red Wings was supposed to disrupt insurgent activity in the area. The
operation, had it gone as planned, would have helped bring stability to the region and facilitated
successful elections later that year. Red Wings was supposed to be a multi phase joint military
operation. It was planned by the Marines to be executed by SOF and Marines jointly. Due to bad
planning, decision making and resource management, the operation was a failure and never made it

had walked up on their position, they took action. They immediately surrounded the three
Afghans. The team realized they had been compromised and discussed their options. They
worried that if they let the men go, they would alert Shah and his men of their location. They
could not kill unarmed civilians because ROE prohibited it. It is debated how the decision was

back down the mountainside. Because they had been spotted, the team immediately grabbed their
gear and relocated to a previous location that they had found unsuitable for observing the village.
It had been several hours since the release of the three men. They assumed the sheep herders did
not give away their position until they began to hear footsteps to the rear and flank of their
position. The team estimated a group of approximately 80 men at first. Shah had positioned his
men above the SEALS and to the flank taking advantage of the team s poor location on the side of

How Did The Influence Of Marx s Theory Of Modern Communism
Lenin was inspired by Karl Marx s theory of communism, which urges the workers of the world to
unite against their economic oppressors. The writings of Marx s theory of modern capitalism
influenced the events occurred in the early 1900s. The Communist Manifesto reflects an attempt to
explain the goals of communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. The Manifesto
stated, Through most of the 20th century, the importance of the Communist Manifesto was
uncontested. It was important not because of its intrinsic merits, but because of the brute facts of
world politics (Marx). Also, The word communism first came into general use in France in the
early 1840s as a term to describe an ultra radical offshoot of the republican movement that had re

Karl promised to resolve the capitalist system but he thought these problems couldn t be solved and
that capitalism was doomed because of the diminishing profits rates. Thus, The traditional
marxists explanation of capitalist rationality is to root it in the consciousness of some sector of
the ruling class. (Block). Another statement was, Marx used the idea of a conscious, directive
ruling class as a polemical shorthand for an elaboration of the structural mechanisms through
which control over the means of production leads to control over other aspects of society (Block).
A more general world of Marx s importance as a sociological thinker became apparent in the 1890s
with the publication of a long essay by Werner Sombart on Marx s theory of modern capitalism. In
this book Tönnies expounded his distinction between two forms of society community

Over the years many versions of Cinderella have been written, each one is unique to itself but
they share just enough characteristics with the original tale that they can still be called a
Cinderella story. More specifically in this essay I am going to analyze the role of the stepmom
and how she is shown as cruel towards her stepchild and her motivations to do so. The first story
that this is evident in is Yeh Hsien. In this story a man married a women and had a daughter named

for a few years, but the man too passed away, this is when the stepmother begins to mistreat Yeh

usually people who are people of higher social class. With this comes wealth, and power. Thus
by being married to someone in this position the stepmom becomes wealthy as well. In the story
Yeh Hsien the step mom is married to the cave master (Norton 107). This yet again shows that
the man who has the child is someone who is in a position of power. Thus if the husbands from
either story were to find out of the behavior of their wives towards his child he would divorce

The Teenage Sex Life And The Understanding These Teenagers
Ellen Wittlinger grabbed my attention with her groundbreaking novel targeting a racy topic
which includes the teenage sex life and the understanding these teenagers have. She wrote about
what most authors would be to afraid to tackle and even did so from a teenage point of view.
Wittlinger pushed some boundaries and touched on subjects one may be hesitant to speak of
aloud. The protagonist and main character of the book is Sandpiper Ragsdale. Sandpiper is 15
years old and attends high school like many other teens her age, but her life isn t so simple. At
this school, Sandpiper has given herself a bad reputation. She has lost her few friends because
she is known for hooking up with a lot of different guys; a problem that will come back and
affect her later. Sandpiper doesn t take into account the boy s feelings when she leaves them out
of boredom. At home, Sandpiper s parents have been divorced for a while. Her father cheated on
her mother who was distraught, but has now met someone else. This leaves her estranged from
her father. Sandpiper isn t sure if she likes her new stepfather or stepsister, but is prepared to
tolerate both of them. Daisy, her younger sister, and her argue a lot and don t see eye to eye very
much. Sandpiper sees her little sister as young and clueless, while Daisy sees Sandpiper as dull
and too grown up for her actual age. Sandpiper is feeling pretty alone until she gets saved from a
potentially messy situation by a boy known as the Walker. Walker will

The lower courts are bound by the House of Lords so they have to apply their rules as if they
were applying a statute. It was decided after the case London street tramways v London county
council (1898) that the House of Lords would be bound by its own previous decisions. This was a
case during the nineteenth century, during the Victorian times when it was important to be
consistent and certain. However during the twentieth century both society and the law developed
and some decisions made in previous cases were now unsuitable, so the House of Lords made a

Pepper v Hart (1993) overruled Beswick v Beswick (1968) on the use of Hansard as an extrinsic aid

The Court of Appeal is usually bound by its own previous decisions and always bound by those of
the House of Lords. However there are some exceptions to this rule shown in Young v Bristol
Aeroplane Co (1944) . Where there were conflicting decisions in past cases then the court of
appeal can choose which one to follow or reject. If a House of Lords decision overrules a court
of appeal decision then they must follow the House of Lords decision. Where a Court of appeal
decision was made per incurium then the decision made in error can be overruled. There is a
further exception now that if a case conflicts with the decision of the European court of justice, the
court of appeal will have to follow the decision of the European court of justice instead of its
own. Lord Denning has voiced his argument in favour of giving more power to the Court of
Appeal and in Davis v Johnson (1978) he wished to provide justice as quickly as possible for a
spouse in a matrimonial dispute. He wanted the Court if appeal to be able to overrule a previous
decision if convinced that the decision was wrong but the House of Lords unequivocally and

Summary Of Richard Condon s The Manchurian Candidate
The term Manchurian Candidate is used by the author as a reference to the book The Manchurian
Candidate by Richard Condon in which a man is hypnotized into performing crimes associated with
politics. The hypnotization utilized for political benefits is what Heinrichs is getting at by using the
term. He simply uses the term to confer to the reader that he found John Quincy Adam s lectures
dealing with rhetorica bit hypnotic rather than political as found in The Manchurian Candidate.
Webster s dictionary contains a very simple definition for rhetoric, describing it as merely a
usage of words in order to influence or persuade (Thank Your For Arguing, page xiii). Heinrichs
refuses to limit the word to such a basic description. He expands upon the definition, It teaches us
to argue without anger...it offers a chance to tap into a source of social power I never knew
existed. (Thank You For Arguing, page xiii). Heinrichs sees rhetoric as more than a gardening
tool, he sees it as the gateway towards being able to build a garden.
Aristotle was a Greek rhetorician known for his creation of many ideas, including ways for
someone to reveal himself or herself as a trustworthy leader. These ways include holding virtue,
disinterest, and practical wisdom. (Thank You For Arguing, page 5). Later on in the book,
Heinrichs gives alternative words to be associated with these three traits: cause (virtue), craft
(practical wisdom), and caring (disinterest). These alternatives are useful

Introduction
The legislation process of Anti Monopoly Law has been indeed a long journey. The new AML is
a tremendous leap forward for China, bringing China into the modern world of antitrust and
competition law. The law, which aims to prevent dominance of any one company, was first
proposed in 1994. But its pace was slow until 6 years later because of pressure from big state
owned companies and multinationals that had just started doing business in China. It wasn t until
2001, when China joined the World Trade Organization, did the process accelerate. In August 2007,
the law was finally passed by the National People s Congress. Although the measure compromised

the efficient output level.
There are several kinds of monopolistic practice as follow * Dumping can refer to any kind of

The Similiarities between Christianity and Judaism Rituals
The Similarities Between Christianity and Judaism Rituals
Out of all the religions in the world Christianity and Judaism in my opinion have the most similar
rites and rituals. They also share many beliefs and flow many of the same rules. Even though some
of the rituals might seem like they are completely different, when you look deeply and find the true
meaning, you will see that most of the time they share the same message. But even with all of these
similarities its the differences that make them unique and these differences are what splits them
apart. The three main similarities in both Christianity and Judaism is the first step into adult hood,
the last step into adult hood and the Shabbat and the Sabbath.
In christianity the first step into adult hood is baptism. A baptism usually happened when you
are still a baby. The purpose of a baptism is to purify and surrender yourself to god. But this ritual
doesn t always happen at birth. Some parents will wait until there son or daughter is older so they
can make this decision for them selfs. Judaism has something that is a little unorthodox its called
circumcision. Circumcision is a process where they cut off a section of the foreskin. This also
usually happens when you are a baby. Genies 17 in the Tanakh has a section where they talk about
circumcision. But not all jewish people practice this ritual. It depends on which branch you are.
In Christianity one of the most important rituals is called conformation. This

Mergers And Acquisitions Essay
Introduction Mergers and acquisitions immediately impact organizations with changes in
ownership, in ideology, and eventually, in practice. There are multiple reasons, motives, economic
forces and institutional factors that can, taken together or in isolation, influence corporate decisions
to engage in mergers or acquisitions. The financial risks of merging with or acquiring an
organization in another country and how those risks can be mitigated are important issues for
corporations to conduct research on. This paper will examine the sensible and dubious reasons for

An Irrevocable Letter of Credit is a good option for both parties because it is a letter from a bank

(Week 5, 2006). According to the week five lecture, the U.S. organization should select a major
bank that has considerable experience with irrevocable letters of credit. The major bank handling
the Irrevocable Letter of Credit can advise the least risky method of handling the transaction. The
general idea is that funds are transferred from the foreign customer s trusted financial institution to
the organization s bank once the terms of the letter of credit are met. An Irrevocable Letter of

A few decades ago, some U.S. companies began to explore another takeover solution, namely

Photosynthesis Is The Conversion Of Light Energy Essay
Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy to chemical energy. There are many different
factors that can affect the rate of photosynthesis, those being light intensity, the temperature of the
water, the amount of carbon dioxide in the water, and the color of the light. In this experiment we
chose to alter the colorof lightthat was used in the process involving the aquatic plant Elodea while
maintaining the other 3 factors. This experiment was conducted to see how much of an effect the
color of the light played in the amount of carbon dioxideproduced in the process of photosynthesis.
We measured the amount of NaOH that was needed to color the water pink and then converted the
net difference of drops into the net volume of carbon dioxide that was produced or consumed. The
results showed that there was not a significant difference in the amount of carbon dioxide produced
when using a standard regular colored light bulb compared to a green light bulb.
Introduction
Elodea, an aquatic plant, is very commonly used in classrooms around the world to help teach the
process of photosynthesis (Berkeley 2015). Photosynthesis is the conversion of light energy to
chemical energy. The process of photosynthesis occurs in the chloroplast of the plants. Inside the
chloroplast is chlorophyll, which is what absorbs the light energy from the sunlight. Light intensity,
the temperature of the water, the amount of carbon dioxide in the water, and the color of light used

Southern Colonies Social Class
The Social Groups of the Southern Colonies
The Southern Colonies, complete with beautiful plantation houses, educated children, and
indigo and tobacco fields for as far as the eye can see. It sounds like a truly great and inviting place
to settle in the New World and for some, it was. However, it was not as glamorous for some as it
was for others. It all depended on a person s social class. There were three main social classes in
the Southern Colonies. The highest class were those who owned plantations, the second was white
people who worked the lands; however, were too poor to own their own slaves. Lastly, the lowest
class was the slaves.
The highest class in the Southern Colonies were the plantation owners. These people were also

Alcohol As A Alcoholic Beverage
Alcoholic drinks play a crucial social role in most cultures. An alcoholic beverage is a drink which
contains a significant amount of the psychoactive drug ethanol which is informally called alcohol.
[Wikipedia] Most countries implement laws regulating alcoholic drinks production, sale and
consumption because of their potential for abuse which may cause physical dependence and
increase their risk of alcoholrelated harm. [1] [ Minimum Age Limits Worldwide . International
Center for Alcohol Policies. Retrieved 2009 09 20.] In Australian society, alcohol has many roles.
Many Australians take alcohol mostly for relaxation, enjoyment and for social reasons, and
generally they consume alcohol at levels that cause few adverse effects. However, a significant
proportion of Australians take alcohol at levels that cause adverse effects. In many countries,
Australia inclusive, disease, injury and a considerable burden of death is attributed to alcohol.
Families and the broader community are also affected by alcohol related harm. Some other reasons
for taking alcohol include to enhance creativity, to overcome inhibitions, boredom, habit. (2)
[www.nhmrc.gov.au/health topics/alcohol guidelines] The most common cause of drug related
deaths in the Australian teenage population has been found to be alcohol. Misuse of alcohol in this
age group has been linked to binge drinking, drink driving and unsafe sex. Booze is the common

Florida International University Parking
Purpose: I hope to provide possible ways to improve the services provided to aid the parking
issues that are found on the Florida International University. The issue of parking at Florida
International University is the lack of being able to find parking at most given times. There are a
lot of times where I have arrived at Florida International Universityand have spent over 20 minutes
driving in circles trying to find a parking spot. And I am not the only one. Martina Bretous writes
in one of her article posts. It always starts out the same way: a race to the elevator entrance at the
sight of anyone entering the garage followed by a head popping out of a lowered car window

Although some progress has been made, the solutions Florida International University has
implemented have not been successful in helping the parking problem. The reason I choose this
to be my thesis is because Florida International University has implemented programs, such as
the carpool programs or mass transit services, but they are not effectively advertised or executed
to the point where students feel motivated enough to want to participate in the services. Another
of the services that I plan to talk about is the parking space locator. The parking space locator is
beneficial, but it can be improved, for example, it only says how much space is taken up in a
parking garage, given in percentages, but it does not show on which floors the free spots are
located. Clemson has a similar system with the exact location though, ...students can grab their
smartphones before they hop in their cars, home in on precious empty spots, and drive straight to
the destination. That s a far cry from the experience of circling blocks and lots for half an hour in
search of a spot (Fliegler). I feel that with that little bit of information could make the service much

Essay on Elliott Erwitt
Essay on Elliott Erwitt
Elliott Erwitt is a street photographer born in Paris from Russian immigrant parents (Erwitt, 2011).
This essay will not focus on his biography but rather put emphasis on his work. Elliott Erwitt is
known for his spontaneity when taking snapshot and passion for the human condition (Magnum
Photos, 2011). He also has a very sharp sense of humor that is without a doubt reflected on his
work. Elliott Erwitt has also a particular affinity for dogs and kids (Erwitt, 2011). It is said that
the challenge is to be able to recognize the work of a particular photographer based on specific
characteristics distinctive to him (Magnum Photos, 2011). As a matter of fact, Elliott Erwitt s

I think that this picture is really about enjoying youself without caring of what society believes
is appropriate. It is said that The true content of a photograph is invisible, for it derives from a
play not with form but with time . This makes me think that the real content of a picture, which is
what the photographer tried to express, is not evident to perceive unless an explanatory text is
provided. In fact, I believe that our perceptions of pictures changes over time as the historical
context do. In addition, our opinions are never fixed as they are influenced by our environment.
Therefore, when looking at a particular picture at a given time, it is certain that our perception of it
will be different in the future based on what happen between the first time and second time we saw
it.
After viewing these six pictures, I consider that it is almost impossible to feel sad or depressed
when looking at Elliott Erwitt work. Finally, the essay will be finished by mentioning a quote of
him that I believe perfectly represents what photography is about and how it reaches out to most
people: It s about reacting to what you see, hopefully without preconception. You can find pictures
anywhere. It s simply a matter of noticing things and organizing them. You just have to care about
what s around you and have a concern with humanity and the human comedy.

The Tourism Industry In The Hospitality Industry
According to the World Bank, the hospitality industry revenue has been the largest contribution to
the world GDP, for the sixth consecutive year, outdoing a total of 10.2% (US$7.6 Trillion) in the
year 2016. The hospitality industry currently employs around 292 million of people, and that
means that 1 in 10 jobs around the globe is linked to the hospitality industry (Oxford Economics for
World Travel Tourism
Council, 2017)
A good example of this is the Popular Republic of China, located in the Asia. According to the
World Bank, it s the most populated country in the world, leading the global rank with 1.3 Billion
of people (World Bank, 2016). With 7 billion people around the globe, China represents 20% of the
world s population.
However, how can this information relate to industry? China s domestic tourism industry has
earned about 3.9 trillion of yuans in 2016. That s approximately 563.6 billion of US dollars,
representing more than 10% of China overall GDP. It also has developed 10.2% of the entire
employment of the country (China National Tourism Administration, 2016).
Nevertheless, the inbound tourism has decreased since 2007 due to problems such as currency
fluctuation which makes tourists considerate other locations, corruption, bad government
reputation, the lack of novelty and competitiveness and the polluted environment. These are some
of the problems that inbound tourism has been facing for the past ten years. The Chinese

Automated testing is more powerful and versatile
As for a tester it is difficult to manually create 100 users to check if the app meets performance

To Kill A Mockingbird Court Lessons
Can a nine year old learn important lessons from a very adult court case? Well, Jem and Scout

of society. Harper Lee, the author of To Kill a Mockingbird, make the two together find that
there are a lot of trifles in the court systems, and they should be fixed. Jem and Scout during the

first lesson I identified that the two kids learned was that people are stubborn. The first time the

the worksheet. I then observed one student and the sub for twenty minute, and the student for the
most part was doing the worksheet and collaborating with his partner. The sub did walk around the
class several times to make sure that students were doing part of the worksheet. She would event
ask the student question over it, but mainly because she wanted to know what they were learning. I
was able to help out some students, but most student were off task. A student had an accordion, he
would play it until the sub told him to put it away. Most of the student finished the first sheet, but
not the second worksheet. Towards the end of class, she let the student with the accordion play it.

Identification And Identification Of Fingerprint Scanners
Our idea
Fingerprint scanners have been used in movies such as action and various other types for years, but
until recent times, they were unheard of technology in the real world. In the past few years,
however, scanners have been introduced into almost the whole society for example in police
stations, high security buildings and even on PC keyboards.
Fingerprints are a unique identification of all individuals, even identical twins whose two prints
may look exactly the same, a fingerprint scanner can find the differences between certain finger

Introducing finger print scanning instead of credit cards replace using credit cards with finger
print scanners at all ATM machines and banks, this would be much safer because there is no risk
in anyone taking card details and pins therefore reduces the risk of fraud and will save banks a lot
of money from having to pay back to those who have been affected from fraud. Year by year card
fraud and database hacking is increasing. The main reason being the outdated method of using a
card and PIN. Therefore to counteract the information being stolen so easily, this project introduces
the idea of integrating Fingerprint Technology into the Banking system. This can be achieved by
each bank having its own encryption algorithms for fingerprints unique to its customers and
thereafter update ATM machines with attaching fingerprint scanners to them.
Fingerprint scanning has recently been introduced into technology, for example iPhone now have a
fingerprint detector to unlock the iPhone instead of using a pin, and this only gives the owner of
the phone authority to access the information within the phone. Also fingerprint scanning has been
used in fast food chains for example Chicago s fast food restaurant has an ordering system which
uses fingerprints to determine customer s orders. Governments use finger print scanning in many
ways one of which is for passport verification in airports. Research shows that more than half

The Myth Of The Latin Woman By Judith Ortiz Cofer
How do you deal with stereotypes towards yourself or others that have experienced them? People
are stereotyped by their physical features and by the information we know about a certain group.
They are judged by their physical features instead of seeing what they are really capable of doing.
Usually not being involved in such a diverse community can cause that because they are
accustomed to what s near them. Exploring and learning about others will help shatter stereotypes.
We ll explore in Sucheng Chan and Judith Ortiz Coferessays on how they ve been stereotyped and
what they ve done to shatter the quo.
People are stereotyped by their physical features and by the information we know about a
certain group. In a chapter in The Myth Of The Latin Woman an essay by Judith Ortiz Cofer, the
author speaks about women seeing as sexual objects. In the chapter, she says The males were
given an opportunity to admire the women and to express their admiration in the form of pirops.
The men would see the women as sexual objects and not as human beings. The way she and
friends dressed shouldn t give men the right to harass them publicly. I thought you latin girls were
suppose to mature early was a phrase one of her boyfriends told her when she was young
(111,113). This is significant because it shows how American culture sees Hispanic women. Ortiz

Muscle Strength And Physical Function
II.Muscle strength
However lower limbs more relevant than upper limbs for estimation of gait and physical function,
handgrip strength has been used and well correlated with the most relevant outcomes. But there is
factors unrelated to muscle strength, e.g. motivation or cognition, may interfere the correct
assessment of muscle strength (Cruz Jentoft et al., 2010).
1)Handgrip strength
Isometric hand grip strength is well related with lower limbs muscle strength , knee extension
torque and calf cross sectional muscle area, decrease handgrip strength is a clinical marker of poor
mobility and a predictor of clinical outcomes than low muscle mass (Laurentani et al., 2003).
In practice, there is also relationship between baseline handgrip strength and disability for
activities of daily living (ADL). Handgrip strength is a good and simple measure of muscle
strength, and it is well correlated with leg strength (Fox et al., 2015)
2)knee flexion/extension
Strength can be measured either isometrically or isokinetically, the latter is closer reflection of
muscle function in daily activity. Isometric strength of maximum voluntary contractions can be
measured with simple custom made equipment. Modern, isokinetic dynamometers allow both
isometric and isokinetic measurements of strength. By concentric torque at different angular
velocities (Hartmann et al., 2009). This measurement is easy in frail older people (Callahan et al.,
2007).

Customer Service Services At The Service Provider Essay
According to Lucas (2009), great customer service is presented by knowledgeable, capable, and
enthusiastic employees who deliver products and services to their customers and create consumer
loyalty. From that point, it could be claimed that the best employees will build the best service
which surpass customerexpectation and the result of that action is when customer repurchase or talk
to another potential customers. In short, customer serviceis the action when service provider gives
customer what they desire. In addition, Gronroos (1983) proposed that service value is also
affected by the service provider. In this case, the term service provider can be defined as the
company workers. Moreover, employees achieve the consumer satisfaction not only by the price
but also by providing the excellent service. Different expectation comes from different customer
and the satisfied result depends on the experience or purpose of each customer. By defining the
different between customer gender, customer age or level of customer social status, service
provider can create perfect strategies to finish company profit goal which comes from customer

The important goal in achieving consumer loyalty is developing consumer satisfaction. By

What Happens During A Preliminary Hearing In Federal Court
A criminal prosecution usually begins with an arraignment: A preliminary hearing (aka a prelim, a
probable cause hearing, PX and a preliminary examination) is very similar to an arraignment, but it
provides the defendant a greater opportunity for counter argument. In essence, a preliminary hearing
is a trialbefore the trial. It is during the preliminary hearing that the judgeor magistrate decides
whether there is enough evidence for the accused to stand trial. When making his or her
determination, the judge/magistrate uses what is referred to as the probable cause legal standard.
This standard helps him or her decide whether the prosecution has produced a sufficient amount of
evidence to convince a juryof the defendant s guilt.

The defense typically has the chance to cross examine any of the witnesses the government has

Traditional Parenting Styles Are Distinct And Share...
For quite some time now, the question on how to correctly raise children has been debated
intensely. The two most popular parenting styles are extremely opposite, so controversy is bound
to rise. These two styles are known as Western and Chinese , and each one has significant supports
saying their respective style is superior. The Chinese style is seen as a no nonsense approach and
has even been dubbed the tiger style due to its strict and harsh nature. On the other hand, the
Western style offers a free flowing environment where parents are more relaxed with the handling of
their children. Both parentingstyles are distinct and share extremely opposing views. Amy Chua
is a significant supporter for the chinese parenting style as she has even wrote a book titled
Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother along with an article named Why Chinese Mothers are
Superior . Chua has experience with the chinese parenting style as she was raised by it and now
she is raising her own children through it. One opposer of Amy Chua is Hannah Rosin, an editor
for the Atlantic and the standard for western parenting style. Rosin writes an article named Mother
Inferior , which is a response to Chua s work. Although Amy Chua s parenting style may seem to
provide better results for the parents, Hanna Rosin parenting style is more beneficial for all parties
involved for a couple of reasons. One being the fact that children often struggle handling pressure at

Spotlight Reflection
Recently in Journalism class, we watched the movie titled Spotlight which was based on the story
of the 87 priest molestation cases that occurred in Boston alone. This movie followed a team of
Journalists, the Spotlight Team, who worked for the Boston Globe. This team tracked down 87
molester priests and cultivated a story to bring attention to the issue. While there were a lot of
important concepts highlighted in this movie, the three main concepts of the film were on why
this issue has been happening for such an exaggerated period of time, preposterous events can
occur in the most unexpected places and that vulnerable people are effortlessly taken advantage of.
The world let these incidents go on for too long. For years, the priests not just in these Boston
churches, but around the globe had been performing inappropriate acts on powerless children in
their churches. It was even made known that these churches were fully aware of these events and
masked the truth from their communities. The church essentially wanted so desperately to believe
that it was a minor flaw in the system. In reality, it was happening in an exuberant amount of
religious areas. It is partially based on the statement that no one wants to cuff a priestbecause they
feel that in a way, it would make them look atrocious.
To keep muted on these events, people were put under restraint by their own family and friends.
They were told not to speak out about their molestation cases. The belief in the

Alice In Wonderland Critical Analysis
Have you ever read a book, and felt that their was a different meaning? When the classic fairy
tale Alice in Wonderland is analyzed from the critical viewpoint of feminism, readers may
discover some very interesting and remarkable surprises. In this book, there are parts where
Alice is being treated poorly by men. Also the story suggest that women are irrational, emotional,
and loud. Mainly showing that they can t be relied on to do some of the tasks that the men do.
However most of the men in the story seem to act in a more rational way than the woman do. In
similar fashion this story also identifies women as gullible, and stupid, people who are incapable
of going through a thought process. Now I shall elaborate on each of these points, showing how
this story can be viewed from a feminist point of view. It s evident that, Alice is treated as poorly
by some of the men in different parts of the story. During the tea party scene in Alice in Wonderland
, Alice approached the table that the men were having tea at. As soon as they saw her coming,
they automatically said that there was no room for her at the table. Obviously, Alice could see
that the table was not full, in fact there were many seats around the table. Although the men
knew this, they decided to tell Alice that there was no room at the table. Perhaps they were
trying to deter her from sitting at the table, by making her feel as though she is unwelcome.
After that, Alice proceeds to sit at the table, and the Hatter asks Alice to figure out the answer to
a riddle. The riddle was Why is a raven like a writing desk? Alice attempts to figure out the
answer, but to no avail. When it s time for Alice to answer, she tells the Hatter that she gives up
on trying to figure it out. She then proceeds to ask what the answer to the riddle is, and the Hatter
says that he has no clue what the answer to the riddle is. He made Alice think long and hard about
the answer to the riddle, that seemed to not have an answer. The Hatter knew that there was no
answer to the riddle, and yet he made Alice try to figure it out. I can conclude that the Hatter only
asked Alice the question to serve as entertainment, and to belittle her intelligence. In addition, one

Since the late 1960 s, Jack White s mixed media abstract work, defined as abstract impressionism ,
has been inspired by African art forms and symbolism. The works included in the Ancestral Image
exhibition are outside the boundaries of traditional painting or sculpture. They contain elements of
the spiritual, the artistic, and the utilitarian that define African art. Reflecting on his work, White
states, Like most human beings I am curious about my ancestors; as a black American, I can know
only that they came from Africa. Art gives me the power to explore the lives of those ancestors and
expose audiences, minority and mainstream, to my discoveries.

While serving in the Air Force, White was both stimulated and inspired by the cultures he was
exposed to during his world travels. White s global experience manifests in much of his art, with
paintings, that are a mixture of various media that construct abstracted visual landscapes.
White began his more than forty year career in art as an art and education major at Morgan State
University in Baltimore and later continued with graduate studies in Museum Arts at Syracuse
University in Upstate New

Essay about Technical Security Policy Proposal for Small...
TicTek Inc is a small company with about a hundred employees and one facility. The company
sells home security electronics online. The devices are manufactured by a third party company
and shipped to TicTek, whereupon they are warehoused until they are purchased through the
company s website. The warehouse staff prepares and ships customer orders in the same facility
which houses the office staff and management. TicTek has a few major stockholders, but the
majority of the company s stock is owned by its executives and employees. Due to the online
nature of the company s business dealings, TicTek has placed a high priority on the securityof
network resources, including vendor data, customer data, high availability, and incident response....

Firewalls will be placed between the web servers and the outer edge of the network, facing the
Internet. Such a configuration, called a demilitarized zone (DMZ), will provide an additional
layer of defense from a network breach. If the web servers are compromised, there will be an
additional barrier between them and the intranet. The firewalls will be configured to deny
everything, and then the ports that are needed for the functioning of the network will be
allowed. For the sake of expense and administrative simplicity, the firewall will be a stateful
packet filter firewall, as opposed to an application proxy firewall, which would offer higher
security and configurability at the expense of administrative complexity due to the need for a
proxy for each application in use by the company. The packet filtering firewall filters traffic
based on predefined rules. A network based IDS will be used on all network subnets and the
system will be anomaly based. An anomaly based IDS is preferable for its ability to detect zero
day attacks. With a signature based IDS, the system uses a set of definitions to detect threats and the
definitions must be updated on a regular and ongoing schedule. The system will be passive in its
functioning, in that it will not stop threats that it detects. Rather the IDS will send notifications to
the IT staff that are tasked with the security of the network. The IT staff will then

Such Is My Beloved Identity Essay
People are confident in their beliefs and core values, however, the pressure of society can cause
doubt and ultimately, change their way of thinking. Due to the impact of society, an identity crisis
occurs when values are challenged. Morley Callaghan s captivating novel, Such Is My Beloved,
illustrates the deterioration of Father Stephen Dowling s identity through society s influence and
the uncertainty in his values. Society has the power to alter beliefs, values, and attitudes.
The role that Father Dowling has in society influences his values and identity. To progress society,
the courage to take risks is crucial. Father Stephen Dowling is a young man who [is] apt to attack

Relationships that are not traditionally accepted result in negative consequences. Father Dowling
blindly goes into making a relationship with two street walkers without even thinking about the
consequences. The society he lives in does not see prostitutes as humans with rights. Father
Dowling felt more love for them than for any one he had known in his parish, a curious, new love
that gave him a strange contentment (18). He feels a new emotion when he meets these two
girls and since he feels a strange contentment, he could potentially be feeling a fleshy love,
instead of a divine love. He keeps fooling himself into thinking that his love is just divine, but he
is hesitating on which type of affection he is giving to the girls. The relationship between a
priest and two prostitutes will not be accepted within their society and leads to many negative
consequences. In addition, the loss of rationality in decision making is an effect of radical shifts
in opinion. Father Dowling convinces himself that the girls need his love the most because no
one loves them for who they are. He decides to continue to help them and has a different opinion
on what the church believes to be correct. He only focuses on the girls and their well being and
completely forgets to send money to his mother who is also deserving of his love and support. He
is becoming irrational with the choices he is making because his opinion is

The New Rules Prevent Investors From The Stock Market
Despite HFT obviously has many positive impact on market, like increased liquidity, improved
market efficiency even increased fee for exchanges. Regulators more concern about risk come
from HFT in China s equity market. Though, some risks or negative impacts not really come from
high frequency traders. As show in the above example, investors were restricted open a position
less than 10 lots result in transaction volume shrank. The new rules prevent investors from
participating in the market. Fewer investors will lead to the price distortion. HFT is not the enemy
of stock market. If Chinese authorities want the market more healthy, they should hold a positive
attitude toward HFT considering HFT has been gaining global popularity.
HFT in other Asia security market
Japan
According to statistics from Bank of Japan, HFT account for more than 50 percent in Tokyo Stock
Exchange (TSE) in September 2012, which is the second largest sock exchange in Asia. Rather
than attempting to restrict HFT in the market, Japan has made upgrades to its trading system
Arrowhead to embrace HFT. Arrowhead brings millisecond level speeds to both transactions and
market information distribution, achieves an order execution time of 5 milliseconds and
distributes information in 3 milliseconds5. It also distributes all order information on all issues in
real time. High frequency traders could get benefit from this real time access to all order and quote

This is about the only Directive Statement that Carol s food choices reflected. The second
directive statement says that you should choose lower fat foods more often. Carol s diet
included a variety of high fat foods. The only foods or drinks that Carol ate that were considered
lower fat was the 2% milk at Breakfast, 1 apple as a Snack and 1 cup of corn for Supper. The
other foods that Carol ate would have been low fat if they were prepared differently, the fish
sticks could have been eliminated and salmon used instead. The third directive statement refers
to Grain Products and how people should choose whole grains and enriched products more

Analysis Of The Book Hello Comrades
Hello comrades, this is a journal to document my story and the stories of my companions as we
fought for the freedom of all species who live in this world. The purpose of the journal is also to
provide information in regards to the locations of bases and strongholds. For those of you who
know me now, the beginning of my tale may be difficult to believe because I was a much
different person all those years ago. If you are a total stranger to myself and my cause, you will
learn the best ways of contacting the resistance and getting this to their leader if I am gone. All of
these events were witnessed by me and added to by others that were there with me. I will begin
my story on the day that my life changed forever, the day on which I nearly... Show more content on

Instead of going to my room, I entered the supply closet that opened out onto the main deck.
Now for those of you who know nothing of my past, it may come as a surprise to you that I was
very passive in my youth. I never acted first, I always reacted to my surroundings but it all
changed with The Paradise. As I stood behind that door fearing for my life, I came to the
conclusion that I could die that day, that everything I had ever known would end and I would be
forced into whatever came next. They re trying to board us Captain, what do we do? a crew
member near the door asked. Before the captain responded, a voice carried clearly from the other
ship. We are the King s men, prepare to be boarded, someone from the privateer said. At this I
naively believed that we were all safe. I should have known better but I blame my upbringing
that I was not able to anticipate what would happen next. I felt a dull thud reverberate along the
wooden floor of the door frame. The four men that came aboard first were all armed with
crossbows slung across their backs and swords at their belts. They were followed by a man in
armor who had only a sword. The man who appeared to be the captain of the other vessel
approached the center of the ship as his men spread out, gathering all members of the crew near the

  • 2. Persuasive Speech On Conformity In Science How bizarre would it be to live in a world where people still believed the Earth was flat? Or if doctors were drilling holes into their patient s heads for migraine relief ? Luckily, we exist on a planet where curios forefathers have already paved the scientific highway to innovation. If renowned scientist such as Isaac Newton and Albert Einsteinhad followed the scientific norms of their time, rather challenge accepted beliefs; they would have never made crucial discoveries that impact our world today. Furthermore, people should understand that scientific creativity is vital for progression. Resisting conformity is important within the scientific community; it is said that in sciencepeople must question everything, and provide evidence to support their discoveries. Proving or disproving beliefs have an impact on our daily lives, and the most critical discoveries were made by creative minds. Despite the advice of peers being highly valued, one should refrain from succumbing to the scientific beliefs of others without question. In science, conformity could be described as a parasite draining intelligence from humanity. In order to learn and grow, we must cultivate our minds by thoroughly understanding the principles of a subject. However, most pupils have become accustomed to taking their teacher s lessons at face value, and tend to memorize subjects in contrast to than learning them. Essay on Leni Riefenstahl’s Triumph of the Will Propaganda Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will Propaganda I am going to discuss whether Leni Riefenstahl s Triumph of the Will (1934) was propaganda, or a representational recording of an event. Riefenstahl was considered an intricate part of the Third Reich s propaganda machine[1] , yet she claimed that: If you see this film again today you ascertain that it doesn t contain a single reconstructed scene. Everything in it is true. And it contains no tendentious commentary at all. It is history. A pure historical film... it is film vГ©ritГ©. It reflects the truth that was then in 1934, history. But only if I can be free after completing this project and do not have to make any more films to order[6] This compromise lead to a lot of tension between Hitler and Riefenstahl, and Hitler s idea for the opening of the film was believed terrible by Riefenstahl, due to its lack of artistic merit I [Hitler] would therefore like to make the following suggestion: I will ask the most important generals and members of the party to come to a film studio I will be present too. Then we will line up, and the camera will move slowly down the line. This will make it possible to emphasise the contributions of each person with a few words. • 4. Inconsistency in Adam Bede by George Eliot Essay Inconsistency in Adam Bede In George Eliot s Adam Bede, an inconsistency can be found between Dinah s firmly held convictions and her decision to marry. Throughout the story, Eliot presents Dinah as a symbol of divine love who persistently shuns all earthly pleasures of her own for the benefit of those in need. Several passages in the text show that Dinah insists she must follow the path God has chosen for her and prevent her own needs and desires from rising to the surface. Despite her moral protestations, however, Dinah marries Adam in the last few pages of the book. This marriage is disappointing in another sense as well. Dinah was not only created as a symbol of divine love, but also as a figure who ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... We see here that Dinah is not one to be caught up in the external world. Her mind is occupied with thoughts of what it has to give out, indicating not only that she is charitable, but also that she is not in the process of observing and making judgements. Her eyes do not even appear to be making observations, but are instead simply shedding love. She is so entirely absorbed in her spirituality that in her mind the outer world is insignificant. This is evident in the way she dresses as well. We are told that she wears no adornments; she is always plainly dressed in a Quaker bonnet and a black dress. She does not try to put on a false front by embellishing her appearance. She is described as simple and candid (34). The United States did just this in 1898, when they annexed the Philippines. The Filipino people had been fighting for their independence against Spain for many years before the US intervened. The rebels, led by Emilio Aguinaldo, were grateful for the assistance. The Filipino people thought that the US had come to help free them from Spain. Unfortunately for the Filipino people, they were incorrect. On February 6, 1899, the United States of America annexed the Philippines, much to the disgust of the rebels in the Philippines and many people in America (including Mark Twain, Andrew Carnegie, and former President Grover Cleveland.) The reasoning behind this was partially for economic prosperity, thinking that the Philippines held the secret route to riches by being a trading partner and a jumping ... To reinforce the point that you don t have to own countries to trade with them, consider this. Today, the United States trades beyond their borders, this second perhaps. The five countries that the US trades with the most are Canada, China, Japan, Mexico, and Germany. The US does not own any of these countries. They immediately surrounded the three Afghans. The team realized they had been compromised and discussed their options. They worried that if they let the men go, they would alert Shah and his men of their location. They could not kill unarmed civilians because ROE prohibited it. It is debated how the decision was made via vote or other means, but ultimately the team ended up letting the men leave to walk back down the mountainside. Because they had been spotted, the team immediately grabbed their gear and relocated to a previous location that they had found unsuitable for observing the village. It had been several hours since the release of the three men. They assumed the sheep herders did not give away their position until they began to hear footsteps to the rear and flank of their position. The writings of Marx s theory of modern capitalism influenced the events occurred in the early 1900s. The Communist Manifesto reflects an attempt to explain the goals of communism, as well as the theory underlying this movement. The Manifesto stated, Through most of the 20th century, the importance of the Communist Manifesto was uncontested. She wrote about what most authors would be to afraid to tackle and even did so from a teenage point of view. Wittlinger pushed some boundaries and touched on subjects one may be hesitant to speak of aloud. The protagonist and main character of the book is Sandpiper Ragsdale. Sandpiper is 15 years old and attends high school like many other teens her age, but her life isn t so simple. At this school, Sandpiper has given herself a bad reputation. • 16. Summary Of Richard Condon s The Manchurian Candidate The term Manchurian Candidate is used by the author as a reference to the book The Manchurian Candidate by Richard Condon in which a man is hypnotized into performing crimes associated with politics. The hypnotization utilized for political benefits is what Heinrichs is getting at by using the term. He simply uses the term to confer to the reader that he found John Quincy Adam s lectures dealing with rhetorica bit hypnotic rather than political as found in The Manchurian Candidate. Webster s dictionary contains a very simple definition for rhetoric, describing it as merely a usage of words in order to influence or persuade (Thank Your For Arguing, page xiii). Heinrichs refuses to limit the word to such a basic description. He expands upon the definition, It teaches us to argue without anger...it offers a chance to tap into a source of social power I never knew existed. (Thank You For Arguing, page xiii). Heinrichs sees rhetoric as more than a gardening tool, he sees it as the gateway towards being able to build a garden. Aristotle was a Greek rhetorician known for his creation of many ideas, including ways for someone to reveal himself or herself as a trustworthy leader. These ways include holding virtue, disinterest, and practical wisdom. (Thank You For Arguing, page 5). The Similiarities between Christianity and Judaism Rituals The Similarities Between Christianity and Judaism Rituals Out of all the religions in the world Christianity and Judaism in my opinion have the most similar rites and rituals. They also share many beliefs and flow many of the same rules. Even though some of the rituals might seem like they are completely different, when you look deeply and find the true meaning, you will see that most of the time they share the same message. But even with all of these similarities its the differences that make them unique and these differences are what splits them apart. The three main similarities in both Christianity and Judaism is the first step into adult hood, the last step into adult hood and the Shabbat and the Sabbath. In christianity the first step into adult hood is baptism. A baptism usually happened when you are still a baby. The purpose of a baptism is to purify and surrender yourself to god. There are many different factors that can affect the rate of photosynthesis, those being light intensity, the temperature of the water, the amount of carbon dioxide in the water, and the color of the light. In this experiment we chose to alter the colorof lightthat was used in the process involving the aquatic plant Elodea while maintaining the other 3 factors. This experiment was conducted to see how much of an effect the color of the light played in the amount of carbon dioxideproduced in the process of photosynthesis. We measured the amount of NaOH that was needed to color the water pink and then converted the net difference of drops into the net volume of carbon dioxide that was produced or consumed. The results showed that there was not a significant difference in the amount of carbon dioxide produced when using a standard regular colored light bulb compared to a green light bulb. Implementation Of The Reporting And Subsequent Implementation of the reporting and subsequent use of pharmacogenomic variants of significance will take a multistep process, and require leadership and buy in to optimize implementation. The following necessary steps have been described to successfully implement preemptive Pharmacogenomics testing.2 First, there must be a systematic process for genotyping and for migrating test results into the EHR. There must be a permissive institutional infrastructure that will support clinical implementation. The two most popular parenting styles are extremely opposite, so controversy is bound to rise. These two styles are known as Western and Chinese , and each one has significant supports saying their respective style is superior. The Chinese style is seen as a no nonsense approach and has even been dubbed the tiger style due to its strict and harsh nature. On the other hand, the Western style offers a free flowing environment where parents are more relaxed with the handling of their children. Both parentingstyles are distinct and share extremely opposing views. Amy Chua is a significant supporter for the chinese parenting style as she has even wrote a book titled Battle Hymn of the Tiger Mother along with an article named Why Chinese Mothers are Superior . Chua has experience with the chinese parenting style as she was raised by it and now she is raising her own children through it. This movie followed a team of Journalists, the Spotlight Team, who worked for the Boston Globe. This team tracked down 87 molester priests and cultivated a story to bring attention to the issue. While there were a lot of important concepts highlighted in this movie, the three main concepts of the film were on why this issue has been happening for such an exaggerated period of time, preposterous events can occur in the most unexpected places and that vulnerable people are effortlessly taken advantage of. The world let these incidents go on for too long. For years, the priests not just in these Boston churches, but around the globe had been performing inappropriate acts on powerless children in their churches. It was even made known that these churches were fully aware of these events and masked the truth from their communities. The church essentially wanted so desperately to believe that it was a minor flaw in the system. In reality, it was happening in an exuberant amount of religious areas. It is partially based on the statement that no one wants to cuff a priestbecause they feel that in a way, it would make them look atrocious. To keep muted on these events, people were put under restraint by their own family and friends. They were told not to speak out about their molestation cases. The belief in the ... When the classic fairy tale Alice in Wonderland is analyzed from the critical viewpoint of feminism, readers may discover some very interesting and remarkable surprises. In this book, there are parts where Alice is being treated poorly by men. Also the story suggest that women are irrational, emotional, and loud. Mainly showing that they can t be relied on to do some of the tasks that the men do. However most of the men in the story seem to act in a more rational way than the woman do. In similar fashion this story also identifies women as gullible, and stupid, people who are incapable of going through a thought process. Now I shall elaborate on each of these points, showing how this story can be viewed from a feminist point of view. It s evident that, Alice is treated as poorly by some of the men in different parts of the story. During the tea party scene in Alice in Wonderland , Alice approached the table that the men were having tea at. As soon as they saw her coming, they automatically said that there was no room for her at the table. Obviously, Alice could see that the table was not full, in fact there were many seats around the table. Although the men knew this, they decided to tell Alice that there was no room at the table. Perhaps they were trying to deter her from sitting at the table, by making her feel as though she is unwelcome. After that, Alice proceeds to sit at the table, and the Hatter asks Alice to figure out the answer to a riddle. The riddle was Why is a raven like a writing desk? Alice attempts to figure out the answer, but to no avail. When it s time for Alice to answer, she tells the Hatter that she gives up on trying to figure it out. She then proceeds to ask what the answer to the riddle is, and the Hatter says that he has no clue what the answer to the riddle is. He made Alice think long and hard about the answer to the riddle, that seemed to not have an answer.
