Donald Trump s Presidential Campaign Analysis
Should presidential candidates be redundantly different from each other? As seen in the past,
presidential candidates have different resolution plans for issues regarding the nation in every
presidential campaign held every four years. Despite the differences candidate s may reflect, every
candidate has to meet the same requirements, they must be a natural born citizen of the United States,
a resident for 14 years, and be at least 35 years of age or older. Throughout the course of time, the
United States, has had 45 different presidents elected into office, all of which have been men. The
United States has never had a woman as president, but this may change after the presidential election
of 2016 where the first woman in history is running ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Hillary Clinton supports increased gun control measures, while Donald Trump denies the need for
such increased measures. In Clinton s campaign she says further background checks should be
performed on individuals when they intend to purchase firearms. Clinton plans on closing in on the
problem of individuals with problematic history purchasing firearms under the radar, such as in gun
shows or online. In contrast to Clinton, Donald Trump has expressed that expanding background
checks is not a part of his main concerns. He agrees with improving the background check process,
but believes every law abiding person should be able to carry the firearm of their choice (Goggin). In
agreement with his ideology, Trump is a firm believer in the second amendment and stated it is a form

Witchcraft
Witchcraft Satan Woship, or Just another Religion?
In today s society, new religions are popping up all over the place. One of the oldest, yet fastest
growing faiths today is witchcraft. This earth based, nature oriented belief has been established since
the thirteenth century, but it is not until recently that it has began to spread across the world.
Everywhere we look we see something associated with the practice of wicca. The movie, Blair Witch
Project, is one example of the growing belief in spells, charms, and covens. However, there are many
people who disapprove of this practice and are labeling it as a false religion. ; Christians, for example,
greatly disagree with the belief of witchcraft and find it in association with ... Show more content on

Basically, it was people who were lonely or were considered to be outcasts. There were also Indian
slaves and anti Christians who were accused of witch craft because of their different point of views.
However, sometimes, everyday people were accused because of their superstitions like knocking on
wood. ; The church saw them as those who didn t put their complete faith in God, and so therefore,
were considered to be witches.
There are many different types of witchcraft, or wicca. Sometimes, it is simply just charms and spells
that people chant. These spells can be considered either good or bad, depending on the purpose of the
hex. The magic used in witchcraft can also vary. It basically comes down to either black magic, which
is meant to do harm, or white magic, which is only meant to heal and help.
In the Bible it is clearly stated that witchcraft is wrong. There are many different chapters and verses
in the Bible that reveal this. Obviously, God does not want his people to be hand in hand with sin, but
the question still remains: Is witch craft tied to Satanism and evil? Many say yes, but many say no as
well. By viewing the facts about witchcraft, one can decide for themselves.
The exact time when witchcraft originated is unknown, but experts say it all began to become noticed
as an evil practice around the 13th century. During this time, the church slightly tolerated the practice
of magic, but as the 14th century moved

Critical Analysis on a Tina Modotti Photograph Essay example
Critical Analysis on a Tina Modotti Photograph Tina Modotti was from a very poor working class
society. She was brought up in the northeast part of Italy, in Udine, Friuli. She was born at the tail end
of the industrial revolution, in 1896. However, you could say, by all means, that her village hadn t
changed the slightest since the seventh century. She lived vigorously throughout her childhood,
working endless hours in a silk textile factory to earn a cash flow and to support the family through
starvation. After their father had abandoned them when Tina was twelve and fled to America, the land
of dreams, to repeat, Tina was the family s sole breadwinner, and played an essential role in the ...

Finally, the texture and even the tone had a great deal of contrast in the photograph. Again, there is
evidence of a extremely rough background and very rugged working class hands. The rough puppeteer
hands represent the government, you could say she uses the rough hands to symbolise masculinity,
power and even toughness. Moreover, the other hand is similar, however, there are differences. It
represents the citizens; it is feeble, strangled in wire and being controlled by the other hand, the
government . To conclude, the textures play a key role in the development of the idea of power, as
well as the contrast in lighting. Tina Modotti grew up in an extremely marginalised and poor
environment. The way the government didn t help her family during their rough periods and
suffocating them in to labour would have been one of the several reasons that influenced her. Equally
important, her personal experiences of constant labour and hunger would have made her come to the
conclusion of disliking the government. In my opinion, the way the government had no control over
her dropping out of school and letting her go into child labour would have influenced her to produce
works that comments on marginalisation in society, the depression and the repression of working class

Blood, Toil, Tears And Sweat By Winston Churchill
Every morning when people wake up, they face a new day filled with the challenges of life. These
challenges come in many forms. Many of the challenges people face can be solved and overcome;
however, others may be difficult or even impossible to solve. As people endure the challenges they
cannot solve, it is important to remember that a positive attitude will help anyone successfully endure
challenges they face in life. Research has confirmed and the book The Diary of Anne Frank and the
speech Blood, Toil, Tears and Sweat by Winston Churchill are proof that the best way to respond to
conflict is to maintain a positive attitude and focus on the task at hand. Things in life can change in the
blink of an eye. The life of Anne Frank, for instance, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Barbara Fredrickson is a positive psychology researcher at the University of North Carolina and she
published a landmark paper that provides surprising insights about positive thinking and its impact on
the lives of people. Her work is among the most referenced and cited in her field. She tested the
impact of positive emotions on the brain by setting up an experiment. During this experiment, she
divided her research subjects into 5 groups and showed each group different film clip. The first two
groups saw clips that created positive emotions, the third group saw images that were neutral and
produced no significant emotion, and the last two groups were shown clips that created negative
emotions. At the end of the experiment, participants who experienced positive emotions could think of
more possibilities in life; showing that positive emotions broaden the sense of possibility and even
open the mind up to more options. In her paper, The Broaden and Build Theory of Positive Emotions ,
Barbara Fredrickson concludes, Positive emotions promote discovery of novel and creative actions,
ideas and social bonds, which in turn build that individual s personal resources; ranging from physical
and intellectual resources to social and psychological resources. (Fredrickson, p. 1367 ) The lives of

Henry Petroski Falling Down Is Part Of Growing Short Story
Falling down while growing up has been part of everyone s life before. It is usual that we face
obstacles and sometimes we lost the battle between us and the obstacles. We often interpret mistakes
as bad or as a failure, but we don t realize that mistake or failure are what helps us learn. In the short
essay named Falling Down is Part Of Growing by Henry Petroski, Petroski s uses of examples from
stages of our life successfully conveys the message that failure does not define who we are or what we
are; instead, it is a way for us to learn, to try again and finally achieve success. To begin with, the first
stage starts from the moment from when we are first introduced into this world. We face the
possibility of risks from the moment we are born. As Petroski mentions,
We are born into a world swathed in trust and risk. And we become accustomed from the instant of
birth to living with the simultaneous possibilities that there will be and that there will not be
catastrophic structural failure...Surely sometime, somewhere, a baby has been dropped, surely a doctor
has had butterfingers or a nurse a lapse of attention. But we as infants and we as parents cannot and do
not and should not dwell on those remotely possible, hideous scenarios, or we might immobilize the
human race in the delivery room (Petroski 188).
In this quote, Petroski expresses his appreciation from doctors and nurses help, but he then mentions

Essay on Reflecting on the Dead
Reflecting on the Dead
In Katherine Mansfield s The Garden Party and in D.H. Lawrence s Odour of Chrysanthemums, two
women were in a situation where death was literally at their feet. In The Garden Party, Laura finds
herself contemplating the dead body of Mr. Scott, a man of lower class who lived at the bottom of the
hill from her house. In Odour of Chrysanthemums, Elizabeth finds herself contemplating the dead
body of her husband, Walter. Although the relationships these women shared with the dead men were
completely opposite, they both had striking similarities in the ways that they handled the situation.
Both women ignored the feelings of the families of the deceased, failed to refer to the deceased by
name, felt shame in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Obviously this was not a concern with the overall well being of her children. It was merely a way to
prevent the shock of seeing their dead father before they have been told of his passing. Furthermore,
the mother in law was also denied any sympathy from Elizabeth. Although Elizabeth acknowledged
the mother in law moaning (Mansfield 2327) in her grief, she never expressed concern for the mother
in law s well being. She was so caught up in her own feelings that she failed to consider her family.
Although the family of the deceased was Elizabeth s family and Laura had no relation to Mr. Scott or
his family, both women showed only concern for themselves and no one else.
In the presence of the dead men, Laura and Elizabeth never referred to the deceased by their names. In
The Garden Party, Laura didn t call Mr. Scott by his name. Throughout the story he was just referred
to as the man . When Laura was standing over Mr. Scott, she still thought of him as a young man and
simply him (Mansfield 2433). Despite Laura s concern over his death, he was still of a lower class
than her and not a part of her upper class world. The cottages around where Mr. Scott and his family
lived were described as disgusting and sordid, and Laura used the word creature (Mansfield 2429)
when referring to the widow and her sister. This suggests that she felt that Mr. Scott and his family
were not thought of as people with names. To Laura they were creatures who

Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph...
This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall,
who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were
elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far
fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the
window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s
recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The
Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall
story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the
prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He
subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was
later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered
statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave
court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against
their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his
work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. Over a
short period of

The Changing World Of Gymnastics
Gymnastics has drastically changed since the time it began in ancient Greece. Looking back at it,
nearly nothing is the same. It has gradually been modified into the sport that it is today. Whether it s
small changes like a switching the compulsory music to a different piece of music, or big changes like
switching the number people who will go to the Olympics that year, there is constantly something
different going on in the world of gymnastics. Gymnastics is also always getting harder than it was the
previous year. While this makes it much more competitive and entertaining, it also becomes much
more dangerous. So this constantly changing sport has both its advantages and its disadvantages.

Essay on Testing Aerodynamic Structures for Our Science...
First, aerodynamics is the study of the motion of the air. Aerodynamics consists of 4 variables, which
is thrust, gravity, lift, and drag. (Tennekes,H, 2009) Aerodynamics has to do with almost everything
dealing with air of course.(Tennekes,H ,2009) For example, it can be air crafts, it can be wings, it can
be birds, it can be a race car. Birds need aerodynamics so they can glide in the air so they can also gain
enough speed to catch prey. Like a hawk swooping down 70 miles an hour to get a mouse to eat. Race
cars need aerodynamics so that the car structure can have the most air resistance it wont apply as
much pressure onto the car. Like birds air crafts also need aerodynamics for the wings on the aircraft
or the weight of the aircraft. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They have to deal with aerodynamics everyday since they are the scientists who works everyday
trying to make aerodynamic rockets to study space, they have to be very precise when ever they make
a rocket, it can take years, because one time NASA sent a rocket but as soon it hit a certain altitude it
exploded because of on of the cables inside wasn t connected. (NASA,2013) Plus NASA is also
creating aircraft for the future so they can send regular people into space to experience how it would
feel like to go into space, but the trip would cost over 3 million dollars, so you would only be allowed
to get on if you are a millionaire or higher. (NASA,2013) Lift is a force pushes the object up ward.
Drag is related to air resistance, drag is like friction but like in the air. Drag is a force that causes to
pull the object the opposite way, for example if you put your hand out a window of a car and the car is
on the high way, and if you make your hand like a wall and put it out in the air it would pull your hand
back wards. (Paper Airplanes HQ 2013) But if you put your hand flat down it would just let your hand
pass through since its allows air to go around the hand causing little drag. Thrust is a forward force
which allows the object to go into the air, for example when you have a paper airplane and throw it,
that throw with your arm is the thrust for the airplane to launch.(Auld,D.J. K.Srinivas ,2013) Gravity

The Molecular Mechanism Of Disease Development Essay
HS is a severe and chronic inflammatory disease with a devastating negative impact on the quality of
life. Unraveling the molecular mechanism of disease development is an important step towards curing
this chronic disease. To our knowledge, no published study has focused on an epigenetic approach in
HS using a genome wide high density methylation array. In the current study, CpG level methylation
statuses were obtained using Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips for DNA samples from HS
subjects and normal controls. This enabled us to characterize differentially methylated regions
involved in HS pathogenesis and identify novel DNA methylation markers that have not previously
been reported with aberrant methylation in association with HS.
A ROC AUC ≥0.75 is generally characteristic of a good biomarker, and an AUC ≥0.9 represents an
excellent biomarker. In the present study, we have identified 304 CpG markers, all with an ROC AUC
≥0.75 and many with excellent diagnostic accuracy for the prediction of HS status; most of them have
not been investigated at the functional level. These 304 CpG sites on 304 genes are spread across
noncoding and coding, exonic, promoter and intronic regions with the largest number (32%) in the
intron of the gene, further emphasizing the importance of gene regulation by intronic sequences. Many
of these hypermethylated sites contain an open chromatin conformation and are occupied with a
number of transcription factors, further suggesting that these

Progression of Time and Community in the Works of Johnson...
The future of society is an often unpredictable and unpleasant topic due to the many variables which
effect it. In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something
detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this
concept is expressed in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his
people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things ,
this concept manifests through the downfall of greater human society in favour of a more robotic era.
This essay focuses on how these two texts exemplify the variable nature of the future by focusing on
the harmful possibilities ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After this point in the story, the medicine man returned to his people and told them to look for the
island before dying in his sleep; however, nobody could ever find the island (Johnson 235). The main
character shares his own desire to discover it when he says, twice I have seen its shadow...[it] fell
across my canoe, across my face, and across the waters beyond...there is something on that island that
I want. I shall look for it until I die, for it is there (Johnson 233). He continues to search for the island
in order to obtain those long lost traits, for himself and to uphold the former status of his people. Yet
the story ends with the notion that such a reclamation may never occur. The main character claims he
has been touched by the shadow of the island, but only the shadow (Johnson 235). This indicates that
he and his people may only ever have the memories of the past to haunt them as they progress. In this
way the story is indicating that the modern society the Aboriginal people thrive in is already stagnant
and dead. Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , depicts the future of humanity
as a hellish reality, where human existence is met with suffering. Human society itself is absent in
favour of a technologically advanced, robotic era. This apocalyptic portrayal of the global community
produces powerful, demonic imagery in order to depict the downward

Descriptive Essay About Going To The Beach
Have you ever been to the beach? I have been to the beach once, and honestly, I wasn t that impressed.
Before I went, I looked up pictures of the beach I was going to, and it had clear, bright blue water,
with perfect white sand. Plus, I was expecting to find lots of fine things, like seashells, sand dollars,
and sea glass. When I first receiver the beach, I stepped out of the car, having my hopes way too high.
The sand was white and fluffy at first, however, as you walked closer to the water, it became hard and
the color of mud. The water looked like lake water. Honestly, I felt like I was at the lake, other than I
couldn t see land on the other side looking out on the water. It grew better, too. The only thing close to
seashells was little mussels that we would dig into the sand. There wasn t any sand dollars, or
anything fantastic like that. Although I had some misconceptions, I still had a blast at the beach. I
mean, I could have been a little slap happy, as it was my first time there, yet I m pretty sure that I
would ve had a pleasant time anyways. I went with my dad, 3 of my aunts, and 9 of my cousins. We
went to the Port Aransas Beach in Texas. We pulled up in two vans, one being gray and one being
black, and we hauled out of them. We were all super excited. The kids rushed to see the water,
however, were instantly stopped by the adults. We grabbed the boogie boards, towels, and lathered up

External, Internal, and Construct Validity Essay
Validity pertains to both the methods and the design of a research study and indicates the degree with
which correct inferences can be made from the results of a research study (Indiana University Of
Pennsylvania, 2010). According to Trochim and Donnelly, there are four types of validity including
conclusion, internal, construct, and external (2008). In this assignment, three of these types will be
discussed. Internal validity is the extent to which a test measures what it claims to measure. External
validity on the other hand, is the extent to which the results of a research study can be generalized to
other groups, other times, and other settings. Construct validity demonstrates an association between
results and the prediction of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instrumentation is concerned a lack of consistency in the measuring instrument that could account for
invalid results of a research study. This threat is most likely to occur when two different forms are
used for the pre and post tests or if the instrument is constructed poorly. (Creswell, 2009).
Mortality can occur if research participants drop out of the study before completion. This problem is
more likely to occur if participants are volunteers or if the sample group is too small (Creswell, 2009).
Statistical regression is the tendency of participants who score high on a pretest to score lower (or
closer to the mean) on the posttest and consequently, participants who score low on a pretest tend to
score higher on the posttest. This regression may significantly influence the distribution of scores.
Finally, differential selection can occur if already formed groups are used in a study as the groups may
have had existing differences from the beginning. For example, the subjects in each group may have
extreme age differences or educational backgrounds. As a result, any differences found at the posttest
may be due to these differential selection differences rather than being due to the independent
variable. External validity is the degree to which the results of a research study can be generalized to
and across other populations, settings, times and tasks. The threats to external validity compromise a

Aerobic Exercise Training
Hypothesis
We predict that aerobic exercise training will produce changes in the hippocampus both structurally
and functionally. Its enhancement in terms of the size will be correlated with improvements in the
functions the hippocampal region is involved in. Particularly, exercise will develop young individuals´
memory consolidation, a process through which memories are stabilized in the long term, but also the
long term potentiation phenomenon of it. This means a better capacity for converting short term
memories and information into long term ones. It is also predicted that depression scores and risks of
falling into a depressive mental disease will be lower in trained subjects.

months. Each member that has to do this exercise will be asked to swim one hour at the end of the day
4 days a week at a comfortable and regular pace. Except for this, they will be following their everyday
routine.
The short term memory capacity of these subjects before the aerobic exercise will be tested with the
most common technique, which is a test called Memory Span. It consists of showing the candidate a
large list of random words, numbers or pictures one by one, one thing per second. Recognizable and

In this case they will be shown a sequence of 7 pictures, 7 numbers and 7 words in a random order,

account as a correct answer. The number of right responses of each member of both groups will be

In addition, a long term memory test will be done. The individuals, just as in the short term memory

Religion In Mahatma Gandhi
Another trait Gandhi possessed due to his religion was courage. Mahatma Gandhi had no fear. To
Gandhi fearlessness was an imperative part of religion. He even described religion by saying, Where
there is fear there is no religion ( Young India, 2 9 26, 308). Further, Gandhi believed this courage to
follow one s beliefs improved all aspects of life. Gandhi once said, Religion which takes no account of
practical affairs and does not help to solve them, is no religion ( Young India, 7 5 25, 164). Religion to
Gandhi required an effect on everyday life. Gandhi had no fear and allowed religion to affect his daily
affairs. This was imperative to the many radical movements and ideas Gandhi proposed. When he
founded the Natal Indian Congress at twenty five, he was a tabula rasa: he tried out ideas which in an
established political organization would have been directly laughed at (Nanda, Shri B. R). However,
due to his fearlessness, even when faced with defeat, Gandhi pushed onwards. He stated, Defeat

Furthermore, because of his faith in God, Gandhi was not scared of other physical dangers. He stated,

Does Jim Not Make For A Good Role Model
In Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain portrays his main character and the novel s namesake, a deeply
complex individual, even as a child. He has obvious abandonment issues and continues to struggle
with finding his place in society. Huck starts by trying to fit in with Tom and a band of young boys,
but eventually finds true companionship in a slave named Jim. Huck continues in his struggles as his
moral beliefs conflict with the moral beliefs of the society of his time. This conflict comes from Huck
being so immersed in a society that he does not seem to belong in, all while still trying to find a place
that he does belong.
According to Harold Bloom and Leslie A. Fiedler, The moral crisis of the book is created by the
constant disjunction in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Even though he knew that helping Jim was wrong, he must have felt, some place down in his heart,
that it was right. Otherwise, why would he risk his own life to do so in the first place? In a society full
of moral confusion, the one character is presented as intelligent, analytical, [and] highly moral is Jim
(Marshall). Does Jim not make for a far more suitable role model than the drunkard Pap? Marshall
asks. He does, in fact, as he goes as far to create a home for Huck, that Pap never did. As
unconventional as it may be, Jim and Huck become a family, with the river as their home. As they
travel up the rive it gradually becomes clear that the two characters leave the constraints of society
behind them and create their own world on the water it is within this world that the influence of
societal values are suppressed in favour of a more logical, practical system of values (Marshall). It is
along this journey that Jim teaches Huck what values are really important in an individual, regardless
of what society says is correct. He teaches Huck what it means to value another person s life as much
as one value s his own. It is easy to see the moral complexities in this novel reading it through a
modern lens, especially in the case of Huck. Readers are constantly struggling with whether nature or
nurture will come out

Neoliberalism And Video Games
What do Neoliberalism and video games have in common? Hegemony, as authors William K. Carroll,
Matthew Greeno, and Robert Cassar claim. Hegemony, a term coined by philosopher Antonio
Gramsci; is defined as consent that is given by a civil society (Carroll Greeno: 122). Through both
articles, hegemony is seen as playing an important role in benefiting the ruling class or the capitalists.
It consists of a specific set of ideas which produce an subconscious consensus among the population
of which they struggle to deviate from, due to the consequences which may arise if they choose to go
against policies which support the economic good of the neoliberal/capitalist system. As Cassar
explains in his article, not only does the ruling class use their power to reinforce hegemonic ideologies

video games) which individuals use leisurely to impose them as well. Carroll and Greeno argue how
consent through hegemony continues to sustain neoliberalism. They focus on three specific elements:
cultural fragmentation, dispossession and market insulation, and globalization from above. As
described by the authors, neoliberalism is comprised of elements such as privatization, globalization
or free trade , and the prevention of democracy intervening with business and economic growth. They
also point out that the goal of neoliberalism is to restore the optimal conditions for capital
accumulations (Carroll Greeno 126), even if it means that it serves as a hindrance to social safety nets
such as welfare, housing, and public pensions. Essentially, neoliberalism which is considerably the
modern form of capitalism, benefits the ruling class ; through the exploitation of the working class. It
is argued that

A Brief Note On Industrial Products And Safety
Industrial Products and Safety When you are on the job, there is nothing of greater importance than
your safety and that of your crew. Safety becomes even more critical when the dangers of height,
machinery, chemicals, and power tools are added into the equation. Further, there are times when the
job site is in a public location, adding a plethora of safety hazards into the mix. Ensure you are fully
equipped with highly visible alerts and warning signs, devices, and barriers. The better a work site is
controlled, the safer it is for all involved, and don t forget about the elements. Whether it s the sun,
rain or freezing snow and ice, mother nature can turn an average day on the site into a major work
hazard. The proper safety equipment not only reduces the number of workplace accidents and injuries,
but it is required by state and federal employee safety laws and regulations issued by OSHA, ANSI,
and the FDA. From eyes and ears and from head to foot, quality protective and safety equipment is
one area that can never be overlooked in your quest to protect your employees, reduce insurance
premiums, eliminate lawsuits, and keep a happy, healthy crew operational. With over 40 years of
experience in the construction/industrial tool and supply industry, Fasttoolnow, has considered all of

Breast Cancer Is Not Just A Disease That Strikes At Women
Debbie Wasserman Schultz stated that, Breast cancer is not just a disease that strikes at women. It
strikes at the very heart of who we are as women: how others perceive us, how we perceive ourselves,
how we live, work and raise our families or whether we do these things at all. 1.3 million women will
be diagnosed every year over the next 20 years, and the culprit, breast cancer, will kill 11 million of
those women. Breast cancer can be a very deadly disease, but it can also be one of the easiest cancers
to get rid of if men and women take the right precautions. Many different methods are used to find and
cure breast cancer. Different stages and types of breast cancer are unique to each and every person.
Breast cancer is a rising concern and affects many people in different ways, but with the right
knowledge and awareness lives can be saved. Breast cancer is a very common disease in women.
Simply stated, cancer that forms in the breast cells is breast cancer. Breast cancer appears when the
breast cells start growing and dividing too fast. The cells begin dividing faster then the normal cells
and a lump or mass is formed (Breast Cancer). Some of these tumors, though, are benign; these
tumors are not cancerous and do not spread throughout the body. Other tumors are malignant; they are
cancerous and able to spread throughout the body (Braddock 3 4). What causes breast cancer is not
clear, but there are many risk factors that can lead to breast cancer. Being a female and

Benefits And Benefits Of Social Security
In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after
Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security
fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting
benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. Hence it would not be fair if benefits are
granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who
abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans
that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating
fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security
benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are
disabled. Also, hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including
employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no
contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. Furthermore, Social Security
needs to reach out to the majority which is the poverty stricken. By informing the impecunious or
immigrants of Social Security it could save them from the misfortune of poverty. Even though, Social
Security relieves some citizens from a financial burden there are still many improvements to be

That night, my best friend confessed he was gay and his revelation was something my Catholic morals
could not digest. I was born into a homophobic family and raised into believing that homosexuals
were associated with evil. But how could this be? One of the nicest people I knew was gay? His words

The Fission Theory
An object of fear is one that isn t understood, however, how is one to understand when one doesn t
even know the object s origins? To understand an object that was created far before any other being is
simply impossible; when one is so determined to understand something, we create theories that will
satisfy our tasteless fruit of a mind. When one looks up at the night sky and ponders about all but our
beautiful and unique moon, how foolish must they be? The moon is our tide keeper, the stabilizer of
all that is in this world, yet the common person will look past it and instead look at the stars! The stars

The most popular theory of the moon s origin is the giant impact theory; this theory is that a giant
mars sized space rock struck young earth and knocked a chunk of it out. This theory proves to be
fallacious because, no scientist knows where that mars sized rock is; however, the earth and the moon
are made with very similar elements (Editor). The fission theory is another theory that doesn t quite
make sense in the eyes of science; the fission theory states that the earth was spinning a rapid speed
and a chunk of the earth broke off and now that chunk is called the moon. This makes no sense
because if the earth was spinning that fast before, it d be likely that more pieces would come off. The
theory of which that should be accepted in the eyes of science is the capture theory. The capture theory
is that there was this rock wandering through space and then got caught in the earth s orbit. This
theory proves to be more understandable because the moon has a different chemical compound than
the earth. The moon has had her woes brought forth, now the human race must choose for ourselves
and ask this question: what truly happened to the moon? To that I say that one must decide for
themselves. Let them believe what they want to

Preventing Attacks on New Network-Based Systems
Preventing Attacks on Nee Network Based Systems Introduction Recent changes in the organizational
structure of the IT system has left open needs for adjusting practices in order to address new demands
of protection. The organization has recently made the move from a standalone system to a network
based one, which facilitates greater cooperation and collaboration within the company and increasing
overall productivity. A network based system provides a more flexible structure to still function within
a diverse and multifaceted environment. It does so by the fact that within its structure, communication
between components is restricted to message passing, or the equivalent of message passing is a more
efficient mechanism can be selected at runtime based on the location of components (Fielding, 2000).
Network based systems allow communication and dissemination of information to occur seamlessly
without lag. This then further empowers individual employees of the organization with greater
technological tools. The research suggests that network based systems are those capable of operation
across a network, but not necessarily in a fashion that is transparent to the user, but rather as an
automatic process that increases the ease and productivity of each user while working on the system
(Fielding, 2000). As such, it comes with a wide variety of benefits to increase the productivity and
efficiency of the organization. Analysis However, with the implementation of a

The External Competitive Environment at Lenova
Introduction
The proper planning and execution of strategy is crucial for any company to develop, especially when
the industry is extremely competitive or volatile. Industry evolution brings change in sources and
nature of competition (Porter 1979). This essay will analyse the external competitive environment and
critically evaluate the strategies employed by Lenovo, a Chinese technological corporation, in dealing
with the overall declining trend of the PC (personal computer) market.
Case study overview
Recent years saw the worldwide PC market growth rate undergoing a drastic plummet (Arthur 2013).
The latest statistics from market research firm Gartner, showed an 8.6 percent decline in PC sales in
the third quarter of 2013, with shipments dipping for sixth consecutive quarters (Hachman 2013). This
trend underscored challenges confronting PC manufacturers as customers favour mobile devices such
as tablet computers and smartphones.
After suffering a US$226 million loss in 2008, Lenovo attempted to improve its profitability through
innovation and efficiency by initiating the Protect and Attack strategy in 2009, which aimed to guard
its core PC business and strived to compete in emerging markets with high levels of growth (Lenovo
2010). In response to the recent decline in PC sales, Lenovo placed emphasis in executing the Protect
and Attack strategy by evolving and innovating its product portfolio, conducting strategic acquisitions
and implementing novel marketing schemes.

Despite its importance osmosis may also damage cells by causing them to; a) shrink from water loss
or b) burst from too much water gain. Plant cells [fig 3] have adapted themselves to ensure that these
factors do not affect them, by forming a ridged wall, known as the cell wall, around their cells. The
cell wall maintains the shape of the cell, and prevents the cell from bursting in a hypotonic medium by
resisting water pressure. Plant cells have also adapted a larger vacuole, which occupies 80% or more
of the cells cytoplasm (Davidson, 2004); allowing plants to store more water and nutrients per cell.
Vacuoles also play a structural role in plant cells; by swelling when liquids contact them, plant
vacuoles are able to control turgor pressure within the cell. This helps maintain the structural integrity
of the cell as well as providing the plant with suitable amounts of water and nutrients; however the
cell will never burst because the vacuole is contained within the cell wall. If plant cells are deprived of
water their vacuole will begin to shrink, yet due to the cell the wall, the plant cell will be able to
maintain its shape. [fig.4] Animal cells [fig 5] on the other hand do not have this

Strict enforcement of certificate revocation can be set within browser, but even the most technical
person may not be able to find and set these settings. Once the strict setting are set, what will the
browser do if a certificate check times out and how will a user know that the certificate timed out
rather than being revoked? If strict checking is enabled and an attacker can prevent responses from a
certificate server than the users are denied from accessing that website, allowing the attack to shut
traffic off from the targeted server. What can browser companies do to enforce a stricter certificate
revocation check process? These questions will provide good data representing the inherent problem
with web browsers and checking revoked certificates. This research project will focus on a mixed
method, using qualitative and quantitative methods to gather and compare data. This research will
include data gathered from other research,

Essay about First Corinthians
First Corinthians
In 146 B.C. the Roman general Mummius crushed Greece s attempt towards independence by
completely destroying the city of Corinth. For a hundred years the area of the city laid in ruins.
Eventually Julius Caesar sent a colony of veterans and descendants of Freedmen to rebuild the city,
and in a short period of time a new Corinth was created from the old ruins (Ancient Corinth p. 20).
During the rebuilding of Corinth Caesar was assassinated and reconstruction was continued by
Emperor Augustus (Background First Corinthians).

Corinth was a wicked city even when compared to the larger cities in the empire during this time
period. The very term Corinthian meant a profligate (wasteful), and the verb to corinthianize meant to
have intercourse with prostitutes (Interpretation of Corinthians p.685).
Paul left Corinth in the year 53 A.D.. He wrote First Corinthians in Ephesus during spring of the year
57 A.D.. First Corinthians is a letter Paul wrote in reply of a letter sent to him by the Corinthian
church (Interpreter s Dictionary p.684 685)
The Church in Corinth at Paul s time, like the city, became corrupt, most likely from the pagan
atmosphere. The majority of the members were not wealthy; they were rebels, slaves, and previously
corrupt people. A very small group were wealthy and influential people. The church was effected by
the city life in respect to its attitude to wisdom and immorality. Again, the pagan atmosphere had a
very negative affect on the Church of Corinth (St Mark s Berowra).
Paul wrote First Corinthians primarily because of a division in the local church caused by several
different situations. Paul writes, Now, dear brothers and sisters, I appeal to you by the authority of the
Lord Jesus Christ to stop arguing among yourselves. Let there be real harmony so there won t be
divisions in the church. I plead with you to be of one mind, united in thought and purpose (First

true in politics today, but the methods of ruling can no longer be used in American society today.
Niccolò Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy in 1496. He was a diplomat in Italy s Florentine
Republic for fourteen years. This was during the Medici family exile, and when they returned,
Machiavelli was dismissed and shortly imprisoned. After he was released, he wrote The Prince. It was
written as a handbook for politicians to follow and is considered the most famous book on politics
ever written. Machiavelli is known as the father of modern political theory. He died in 1527 in
Florence, Italy.
In The Prince, Machiavelli describes the different methods of acquiring the power over a state. The
first he mentions is if the principalities are acquired through one s own arms and virtue. They acquire
their principality with difficulty but hold it with ease. (23) The second, Of New Principalities That Are
Acquired by Others Arms and Fortune. (25) Someone gives these to the prince either for money or by
the favor of whoever gave it. Those who become princes from private individual solely by fortune
become so with little trouble, but maintain themselves with much. (25) The next, Of Those Who Have
Attained a Principality through Crimes. (34) Acquired through crime, the states

Corporate Strategy Of Walt Disney
Walt Disney
Walt Disney s massive company, which embodies theme parks, resorts, movies, and television, slowly
sprouted from less than birth of Mickey Mouse. The Walt Disney began its franchise reign of the
entertainment industry in 1928 with Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse made its debut in select short
films, the most notable being Steamboat Willie (Gamble 2014). Since then, even decades after Walt
Disney s actual death in 1966, Mickey Mouse has been the central icon around the world for this
organization dedicated to bringing fantasy into the realm of reality. The Disney Company has been
able to successfully incorporate the famous mousey emblem into to the ever changing culture as a
universal sign of quality entertainment for children and adults alike. Additionally, multiple product
lines that have spun off of Mickey s reputation combined with a transnational strategy have facilitated
the organization to swell from a small animation studio to one of the most widely recognized and
highly acclaimed trademarks worldwide.
The differentiation of Disney s product lines has been a key component to the company s surmounting
accomplishments. Hotels, resorts, cruise lines, theme parks, and the beloved live action and animation
films with their respective characters are the fundamental attractions for the organization. Other lines
comprise of music, television broadcasting and production, live theatrical productions, children s
books publications, interactive media, and retail

Burn Research Paper
PART A
The skin is the largest organ of the body, the skin protects us from microbes and the elements, it also
helps regulate body temperature, and permits the sensations of touch, heat, and cold. There are three
layers of skin, this includes the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier
and creates our skin tone, the dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, which
gives the skin flexibility and strength, hair follicles, produce the various types of hair found
throughout our body, sweat glands, these produce sweat in response to stress and heat, blood vessels
of the dermis are what help regulate our body temperature, and nerve ending, which sense pain,
pressure and temperature and the hypodermis, the deeper internal tissue is made of fat and connective
tissue, this functions as a protective shield for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are three main types of burns, beginning with first degree burn, the most minor burn, this degree
of burn only affects the epidermis, it will cause redness, swelling and pain, as the burn is healing dry
skin will begin peeling off. The next type of burn is a second degree burn; these burns are more
harmful because they damage more than the epidermis, it will blister and become extremely red and
sore. Over time a thick, soft called tissue fibrinous exudate may develop over the wound. Excluding
fourth degree burns, third degree burns are the most severe, they cause the most damage, extending
through every layer of skin, there is a misconception that third degree burns are the most painful,
however, with this type of burn the damage is so extensive that there may not be any pain because of
nerve damage. This degree results in white or blackened, charred skin that

Positive Effects Of Open Door Policy
Open door policy I have read all the above DQ discussion regarding the open door policy and I agree
with all the positive effects from open door policy ,I would like to look into so called open door in
different angle ,as all we know open door means leaving their office doors open so that students feel
welcome to stop by to meet informally, to ask questions, or to discuss matters that have been weighing
on their minds of course such an openness build a culture of trust, collaboration, communication and
respect regardless of an individual s position. On the other side, such opens could lead to over
dependence on teacher than putting their effort to solve the issues, research revealed it can grately

Compare How Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen Communicate the...
Compare how Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen communicate the theme of loss in Out, Out and
Disabled .
In the two poems Out, Out and Disabled , a similar theme of loss is portrayed. Both of these poems
deal with the subject of physical loss, as both protagonists of these poems experience accidental
amputation. Both Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen manage to captivate their audience s attention, and
also a certain degree of sympathy for the protagonists misfortune. They do this successfully, with the
use of common literary techniques and linguistic skills, such as simile, metaphor, personification,
contrast, and many more literary devices, which range from obvious to very subtle.
Out, Out , written by American poet Robert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Within such a short sentence, the boy s life was simply gone. This use of tripling is very effective, as it
may symbolise a heartbeat, slowly beating away, to its fate. The dashes further enhance this, as they
make the reader pause in the gaps between the words, making the heartbeats seem further and further
apart, and eventually dying away. Another quote which gives the reader a sense of loss is the final
stanza of the poem: And they, since they were not the ones dead, turned to their affairs , in line 33 34.
This quote, to put into simpler words, means that the people who were working with this young boy
(who happen to be his family), had better things to do than to care for the death of this young boy, and
simply turned away, and got back to work. This action seems alarmingly heartless, but nevertheless,
Frost very successfully makes the jreaders feel a huge sense of loss. This line once again shows how
meaningless and vulnerable life is.
Written in the 1910s by Wilfred Owen, Disabled is a poem describing the experience of a young
soldier losing his limbs after fighting in World War I. He later gets discriminated against, and feels
isolated and regretful of his naïve reason to go to war. As opposed to Out, Out , Disabled does not
have an ambiguous title at all. The word disabled is

Racial Segregation Research Paper
Racial segregation in the United States continued even after the Civil War, in the form of laws
requiring separation of people by race and in the form of ubiquitous discrimination and widespread
social resistance to integration. But even during the height of racial segregation and discrimination,
people in the performing arts pushed their audiences to reconsider their prejudices and assumptions
regarding classification and disparate treatment of people based on race. Broadway s and Hollywood s
most famous musical theater writing team, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein Jr., both
reflected and powerfully commented upon these racial tensions in two of their most famous musicals:
The King and I and South Pacific. These musicals reached immense ... Show more content on

In a time immediately after World War II, this show, set in Vanuatu during the war, was the answer to
American citizens question, How should we rebuild our country Socially aside from economically?
This show differed from the King and I in many ways, including the fact that the first couple shown in
the show traveled to Vanuatu together instead of meeting there. South Pacific was considered by many
to be Rodgers and Hammerstien s greatest show, winning a Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1950 as well as
10 Tony awards (The Broadway League), (Broadway Across America). This Show, thanks to its
immense popularity in the 1950 s and 60 s, had two revivals, including one starring TV stars Kelli O
Hara and Matthew Morrison. Hammerstien stated that South Pacific is inspired by James A. Michener
s Tales of the South Pacific, and tells the story of Nellie Forbush and Emile de Becque visiting the war
torn Vanuatu(Ewen). Even though this musical includes unforgettable songs like Some Enchanted
Evening , Bali Ha i , and Younger than Springtime (which was named #224 on TIME s Songs of the
Century List), there is a very controversial song about racism called You ve Got to Be Carefully
Taught . In this song, Lt. Joseph Cable tells Nellie, Emile, and the Audience (at that time) to be afraid
of minorities. As the song

Georgia OKeefe Black Iris Analysis
Description Black Iris is a 1926 painting by artist Georgia O Keefe. The painting is especially notable
for its monumental size and acute attention to detail, which in turn allowed O Keefe to force[] the
viewer to observe the small details that might otherwise be overlooked ( Black Iris ). This attention is
particularly focused on color and form, accentuating the gradation in the flower from dark purples to
light greys and pinks along with the iris s curvaceous shape. O Keefe produced many similar immense
paintings of flowers. Both Black Iris and O Keefe s other flower works are ostensibly only a large
scale portrayal of a flower meant to evoke appreciation of the objects in nature that often go unnoticed
and nothing more. Nonetheless, one of the most common interpretations of the flowers, and especially
Black Iris, is that they are depictions of female genitalia (Ellis Petersen). Black Iris is said to contain
highly evocative and sensual overtones and a near eroticism (Widewalls Editorial). O Keefe met the
interpretations of works like Black Iris as erotic with vehement denials, stating: I made you take time
to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower, you hung all your own
associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what you
think and see of the flower and I don t, those associations being that flowers themselves look like
female genitalia ( What do you see in Georgia O Keeffe s flowers? and Widewalls Editorial). Some
who agree with the erotic interpretation of Black Iris and O Keefe s other flowers see the work as a
reclamation of femininity and female sexuality, while others go even further in identifying O Keefe in
a lineage of art by queer women, claiming the work as part of a lesbian tradition extending back to the
eighteenth century ( What do you see ). Platonic Analysis If reading Black Iris as a portrait of female
genitalia disguised as flower, the work takes its place on the second rung of the Ladder of Love. This
second rung involves becoming a lover of all beautiful bodies rather than just one because the beauty
on any body whatever is akin to that on any other body (Plato 210b). In Symposium,

An Interview with Aristotle on Requiem for a Dream
Interviewer: Hello Aristotle. My name is Christina Dodson. It is an honor and a privilege to get to
meet you. I will be interviewing you today about a movie you just recently watched called, Requiem
for a Dream. Let s take a second to refresh ourselves with the movie, shall we?
Aristotle: Why, that sounds lovely. I wouldn t mind a little freshening up to help get the creative juices
flowing.
Interviewer: Well good! I would be delighted to take you back through the highlights of Requiem for a
Dream. So, let s begin...In this movie there are two parallel stories that are told. One of those stories is
about Mrs. Susan Goldfarb, who is a lonely, widowed mother, living in Coney Island ... Show more

What would you say about Harry s character?
Aristotle: I would say that Harry s character was very tainted and distorted. His only motivation was
brought on by his very own pleasure and pain, which is not in sync with any moral or ethical virtues.
There is nothing by doing which a son will have done the equivalent of what he has received, so that
he is always in debt. For no one could ever return to them (his mom) the equivalent of what he gets,
but the man who serves them with the utmost or his power is thought to be a good man. That is not to
be said about Harry.
Interviewer: Harry has a Dynamite dream, a vision of a better life that stems from scoring some really
good dope, cutting it, and then redistributing it in order to better himself financially and to get off the
streets so he can stop stealing from his mom. He also wants to better his mom s situation, his girlfriend
s situation, and his best friend/using buddies situation. In Harry s mind he s doing something good.
How do you feel about Harry s intentions and his dream?
Aristotle: Not every action nor every

  • 2. Donald Trump s Presidential Campaign Analysis Should presidential candidates be redundantly different from each other? As seen in the past, presidential candidates have different resolution plans for issues regarding the nation in every presidential campaign held every four years. Despite the differences candidate s may reflect, every candidate has to meet the same requirements, they must be a natural born citizen of the United States, a resident for 14 years, and be at least 35 years of age or older. In contrast to Clinton, Donald Trump has expressed that expanding background checks is not a part of his main concerns. • 4. Witchcraft Witchcraft Satan Woship, or Just another Religion? In today s society, new religions are popping up all over the place. One of the oldest, yet fastest growing faiths today is witchcraft. This earth based, nature oriented belief has been established since the thirteenth century, but it is not until recently that it has began to spread across the world. Everywhere we look we see something associated with the practice of wicca. The movie, Blair Witch Project, is one example of the growing belief in spells, charms, and covens. However, there are many people who disapprove of this practice and are labeling it as a false religion. ; Christians, for example, greatly disagree with the belief of witchcraft and find it in association with ... There were also Indian slaves and anti Christians who were accused of witch craft because of their different point of views. However, sometimes, everyday people were accused because of their superstitions like knocking on wood. ; The church saw them as those who didn t put their complete faith in God, and so therefore, were considered to be witches. There are many different types of witchcraft, or wicca. Sometimes, it is simply just charms and spells that people chant. These spells can be considered either good or bad, depending on the purpose of the hex. The magic used in witchcraft can also vary. It basically comes down to either black magic, which is meant to do harm, or white magic, which is only meant to heal and help. In the Bible it is clearly stated that witchcraft is wrong. There are many different chapters and verses in the Bible that reveal this. Obviously, God does not want his people to be hand in hand with sin, but the question still remains: Is witch craft tied to Satanism and evil? Many say yes, but many say no as well. By viewing the facts about witchcraft, one can decide for themselves. The exact time when witchcraft originated is unknown, but experts say it all began to become noticed as an evil practice around the 13th century. • 5. Critical Analysis on a Tina Modotti Photograph Essay example Critical Analysis on a Tina Modotti Photograph Tina Modotti was from a very poor working class society. She was brought up in the northeast part of Italy, in Udine, Friuli. She was born at the tail end of the industrial revolution, in 1896. However, you could say, by all means, that her village hadn t changed the slightest since the seventh century. She lived vigorously throughout her childhood, working endless hours in a silk textile factory to earn a cash flow and to support the family through starvation. After their father had abandoned them when Tina was twelve and fled to America, the land of dreams, to repeat, Tina was the family s sole breadwinner, and played an essential role in the ... Again, there is evidence of a extremely rough background and very rugged working class hands. The rough puppeteer hands represent the government, you could say she uses the rough hands to symbolise masculinity, power and even toughness. Moreover, the other hand is similar, however, there are differences. It represents the citizens; it is feeble, strangled in wire and being controlled by the other hand, the government . To conclude, the textures play a key role in the development of the idea of power, as well as the contrast in lighting. Tina Modotti grew up in an extremely marginalised and poor environment. The way the government didn t help her family during their rough periods and suffocating them in to labour would have been one of the several reasons that influenced her. Equally important, her personal experiences of constant labour and hunger would have made her come to the conclusion of disliking the government. In my opinion, the way the government had no control over her dropping out of school and letting her go into child labour would have influenced her to produce works that comments on marginalisation in society, the depression and the repression of working class ... • 6. Blood, Toil, Tears And Sweat By Winston Churchill Every morning when people wake up, they face a new day filled with the challenges of life. These challenges come in many forms. Many of the challenges people face can be solved and overcome; however, others may be difficult or even impossible to solve. As people endure the challenges they cannot solve, it is important to remember that a positive attitude will help anyone successfully endure challenges they face in life. Research has confirmed and the book The Diary of Anne Frank and the speech Blood, Toil, Tears and Sweat by Winston Churchill are proof that the best way to respond to conflict is to maintain a positive attitude and focus on the task at hand. During this experiment, she divided her research subjects into 5 groups and showed each group different film clip. The first two groups saw clips that created positive emotions, the third group saw images that were neutral and produced no significant emotion, and the last two groups were shown clips that created negative emotions. At the end of the experiment, participants who experienced positive emotions could think of more possibilities in life; showing that positive emotions broaden the sense of possibility and even open the mind up to more options. In her paper, The Broaden and Build Theory of Positive Emotions , Barbara Fredrickson concludes, Positive emotions promote discovery of novel and creative actions, ideas and social bonds, which in turn build that individual s personal resources; ranging from physical and intellectual resources to social and psychological resources. • 7. Henry Petroski Falling Down Is Part Of Growing Short Story Falling down while growing up has been part of everyone s life before. It is usual that we face obstacles and sometimes we lost the battle between us and the obstacles. We often interpret mistakes as bad or as a failure, but we don t realize that mistake or failure are what helps us learn. In the short essay named Falling Down is Part Of Growing by Henry Petroski, Petroski s uses of examples from stages of our life successfully conveys the message that failure does not define who we are or what we are; instead, it is a way for us to learn, to try again and finally achieve success. To begin with, the first stage starts from the moment from when we are first introduced into this world. We face the possibility of risks from the moment we are born. As Petroski mentions, We are born into a world swathed in trust and risk. And we become accustomed from the instant of birth to living with the simultaneous possibilities that there will be and that there will not be catastrophic structural failure...Surely sometime, somewhere, a baby has been dropped, surely a doctor has had butterfingers or a nurse a lapse of attention. But we as infants and we as parents cannot and do not and should not dwell on those remotely possible, hideous scenarios, or we might immobilize the human race in the delivery room (Petroski 188). • 11. Analysis Of The Chicago Tribune And William Randolph... This pair seized upon the headlines generated from a case involving a woman named Mona Marshall, who alleged that she had been drugged, raped, and forced into prostitution by a pimp. There were elements of her story that were genuinely factual and terribly disturbing, but other parts seemed far fetched. That included a tale in which the police reportedly received a note that she dropped from the window of the brothel where she worked stating, I am a white slave. In addition, Marshall s recounting of events included several contradictions with dates and key details. Nonetheless, The Chicago Tribune and William Randolph Hearst s Chicago American ran wild with the Mona Marshall story and it quickly gained a national audience. Clifford Roe gained recognition nationwide as the prosecutor of that case and he leveraged his newfound fame into more of an activist role. He subsequently published Panders and Their White Slaves and The Girl Who Disappeared, which was later fact checked by a notable sociologist Walter Reckless. He found that Roe used heavily altered statements from prostitutes to advance his agenda. In addition, Reckless studied Chicago s white slave court cases extensively and found that less than 5% of them actually involved women held against their will. In fairness, although Roe s methods were deceptive, one positive result manifested from his work as he successfully lobbied to get much needed sex trafficking laws passed in Illinois. • 13. Essay on Testing Aerodynamic Structures for Our Science... First, aerodynamics is the study of the motion of the air. Aerodynamics consists of 4 variables, which is thrust, gravity, lift, and drag. (Tennekes,H, 2009) Aerodynamics has to do with almost everything dealing with air of course.(Tennekes,H ,2009) For example, it can be air crafts, it can be wings, it can be birds, it can be a race car. Birds need aerodynamics so they can glide in the air so they can also gain enough speed to catch prey. Like a hawk swooping down 70 miles an hour to get a mouse to eat. Race cars need aerodynamics so that the car structure can have the most air resistance it wont apply as much pressure onto the car. Like birds air crafts also need aerodynamics for the wings on the aircraft or the weight of the aircraft. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have to deal with aerodynamics everyday since they are the scientists who works everyday trying to make aerodynamic rockets to study space, they have to be very precise when ever they make a rocket, it can take years, because one time NASA sent a rocket but as soon it hit a certain altitude it exploded because of on of the cables inside wasn t connected. (NASA,2013) Plus NASA is also creating aircraft for the future so they can send regular people into space to experience how it would feel like to go into space, but the trip would cost over 3 million dollars, so you would only be allowed to get on if you are a millionaire or higher. (NASA,2013) Lift is a force pushes the object up ward. Drag is related to air resistance, drag is like friction but like in the air. Drag is a force that causes to pull the object the opposite way, for example if you put your hand out a window of a car and the car is on the high way, and if you make your hand like a wall and put it out in the air it would pull your hand back wards. (Paper Airplanes HQ 2013) But if you put your hand flat down it would just let your hand pass through since its allows air to go around the hand causing little drag. Thrust is a forward force which allows the object to go into the air, for example when you have a paper airplane and throw it, that throw with your arm is the thrust for the airplane to launch.(Auld,D.J. • 14. The Molecular Mechanism Of Disease Development Essay HS is a severe and chronic inflammatory disease with a devastating negative impact on the quality of life. Unraveling the molecular mechanism of disease development is an important step towards curing this chronic disease. To our knowledge, no published study has focused on an epigenetic approach in HS using a genome wide high density methylation array. In the current study, CpG level methylation statuses were obtained using Infinium HumanMethylation450 BeadChips for DNA samples from HS subjects and normal controls. This enabled us to characterize differentially methylated regions involved in HS pathogenesis and identify novel DNA methylation markers that have not previously been reported with aberrant methylation in association with HS. A ROC AUC ≥0.75 is generally characteristic of a good biomarker, and an AUC ≥0.9 represents an excellent biomarker. In the present study, we have identified 304 CpG markers, all with an ROC AUC ≥0.75 and many with excellent diagnostic accuracy for the prediction of HS status; most of them have not been investigated at the functional level. These 304 CpG sites on 304 genes are spread across noncoding and coding, exonic, promoter and intronic regions with the largest number (32%) in the intron of the gene, further emphasizing the importance of gene regulation by intronic sequences. Many of these hypermethylated sites contain an open chromatin conformation and are occupied with a number of transcription factors, further suggesting that these ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In The Lost Island and in The City of the End of Things , the future is depicted as something detrimental to the society each story represents. In Pauline Johnson s short story, The Lost Island , this concept is expressed in the visions given by the Medicine Man, who foretells the oppression of his people by the arrival of the colonizers. In Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , this concept manifests through the downfall of greater human society in favour of a more robotic era. I shall look for it until I die, for it is there (Johnson 233). He continues to search for the island in order to obtain those long lost traits, for himself and to uphold the former status of his people. Yet the story ends with the notion that such a reclamation may never occur. The main character claims he has been touched by the shadow of the island, but only the shadow (Johnson 235). This indicates that he and his people may only ever have the memories of the past to haunt them as they progress. In this way the story is indicating that the modern society the Aboriginal people thrive in is already stagnant and dead. Archibald Lampman s poem, The City of the End of Things , depicts the future of humanity as a hellish reality, where human existence is met with suffering. • 17. External, Internal, and Construct Validity Essay Validity pertains to both the methods and the design of a research study and indicates the degree with which correct inferences can be made from the results of a research study (Indiana University Of Pennsylvania, 2010). According to Trochim and Donnelly, there are four types of validity including conclusion, internal, construct, and external (2008). In this assignment, three of these types will be discussed. Internal validity is the extent to which a test measures what it claims to measure. External validity on the other hand, is the extent to which the results of a research study can be generalized to other groups, other times, and other settings. Construct validity demonstrates an association between results and the prediction of a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instrumentation is concerned a lack of consistency in the measuring instrument that could account for invalid results of a research study. This threat is most likely to occur when two different forms are used for the pre and post tests or if the instrument is constructed poorly. (Creswell, 2009). Mortality can occur if research participants drop out of the study before completion. This problem is more likely to occur if participants are volunteers or if the sample group is too small (Creswell, 2009). Statistical regression is the tendency of participants who score high on a pretest to score lower (or closer to the mean) on the posttest and consequently, participants who score low on a pretest tend to score higher on the posttest. This regression may significantly influence the distribution of scores. Finally, differential selection can occur if already formed groups are used in a study as the groups may have had existing differences from the beginning. For example, the subjects in each group may have extreme age differences or educational backgrounds. As a result, any differences found at the posttest may be due to these differential selection differences rather than being due to the independent variable. External validity is the degree to which the results of a research study can be generalized to and across other populations, settings, times and tasks. Particularly, exercise will develop young individuals´ memory consolidation, a process through which memories are stabilized in the long term, but also the long term potentiation phenomenon of it. This means a better capacity for converting short term memories and information into long term ones. Except for this, they will be following their everyday routine. The short term memory capacity of these subjects before the aerobic exercise will be tested with the most common technique, which is a test called Memory Span. It consists of showing the candidate a large list of random words, numbers or pictures one by one, one thing per second. Recognizable and easy patterns mustn´t be used. In this case they will be shown a sequence of 7 pictures, 7 numbers and 7 words in a random order, making a total of 21 items. Having finished the sequence, the candidate will be asked to recall all the items in the right order immediately. Only the items recalled in the right order will be taken into account as a correct answer. The number of right responses of each member of both groups will be written down and saved. In addition, a long term memory test will be done. The individuals, just as in the short term memory test, will have to memorize a list of random words. • 20. Religion In Mahatma Gandhi Another trait Gandhi possessed due to his religion was courage. Mahatma Gandhi had no fear. To Gandhi fearlessness was an imperative part of religion. He even described religion by saying, Where there is fear there is no religion ( Young India, 2 9 26, 308). Further, Gandhi believed this courage to follow one s beliefs improved all aspects of life. Gandhi once said, Religion which takes no account of practical affairs and does not help to solve them, is no religion ( Young India, 7 5 25, 164). Religion to Gandhi required an effect on everyday life. Gandhi had no fear and allowed religion to affect his daily affairs. This was imperative to the many radical movements and ideas Gandhi proposed. When he founded the Natal Indian Congress at twenty five, he was a tabula rasa: he tried out ideas which in an established political organization would have been directly laughed at (Nanda, Shri B. R). However, due to his fearlessness, even when faced with defeat, Gandhi pushed onwards. He stated, Defeat cannot dishearten me. It can only chasten me. I know that God will guide me ( Young India, 3 7 24, 218). And by pushing onwards, Gandhi was able to see change in India and change in the world. Furthermore, because of his faith in God, Gandhi was not scared of other physical dangers. He stated, God saves me so long as He wants me in this body. • 21. Does Jim Not Make For A Good Role Model In Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain portrays his main character and the novel s namesake, a deeply complex individual, even as a child. He has obvious abandonment issues and continues to struggle with finding his place in society. Huck starts by trying to fit in with Tom and a band of young boys, but eventually finds true companionship in a slave named Jim. Huck continues in his struggles as his moral beliefs conflict with the moral beliefs of the society of his time. This conflict comes from Huck being so immersed in a society that he does not seem to belong in, all while still trying to find a place that he does belong. According to Harold Bloom and Leslie A. Even though he knew that helping Jim was wrong, he must have felt, some place down in his heart, that it was right. Otherwise, why would he risk his own life to do so in the first place? Does Jim not make for a far more suitable role model than the drunkard Pap? Marshall asks. He does, in fact, as he goes as far to create a home for Huck, that Pap never did. As unconventional as it may be, Jim and Huck become a family, with the river as their home. As they travel up the rive it gradually becomes clear that the two characters leave the constraints of society behind them and create their own world on the water it is within this world that the influence of societal values are suppressed in favour of a more logical, practical system of values (Marshall). It is along this journey that Jim teaches Huck what values are really important in an individual, regardless of what society says is correct. He teaches Huck what it means to value another person s life as much as one value s his own. It strikes at the very heart of who we are as women: how others perceive us, how we perceive ourselves, how we live, work and raise our families or whether we do these things at all. 1.3 million women will be diagnosed every year over the next 20 years, and the culprit, breast cancer, will kill 11 million of those women. Breast cancer can be a very deadly disease, but it can also be one of the easiest cancers to get rid of if men and women take the right precautions. Benefits And Benefits Of Social Security In Bonnie Smith Yackel s essay My Mother Never Worked she passionately defends her mother after Social Security refuses to grant her death benefit check. Yackel does not realize that Social Security fairly distributes benefits to contributing Americans. Social Security was reasonable to not granting benefits to a woman who never contributed as a wage earner. Hence it would not be fair if benefits are granted to a fraud who never paid wage taxes compared to wage earners who do. Americans who abuse Social Security benefits by committing fraud is unethical and not to mention illegal. Americans that are in desperate need for Social Security benefits require it far more than frauds. By eliminating fraud the government can properly grant social benefits to hard working Americans. Social Security benefits should be permitted to Americans that work and provide back to their country or they are disabled. Also, hard working citizens that pay their duties will receive back from benefits, including employees that are qualified as disabled. Benefits should not be granted to any citizen that makes no contribution to their country such as, tax deductions from their wages. The fission theory is another theory that doesn t quite make sense in the eyes of science; the fission theory states that the earth was spinning a rapid speed and a chunk of the earth broke off and now that chunk is called the moon. This makes no sense because if the earth was spinning that fast before, it d be likely that more pieces would come off. The theory of which that should be accepted in the eyes of science is the capture theory. The capture theory is that there was this rock wandering through space and then got caught in the earth s orbit. Preventing Attacks on New Network-Based Systems Preventing Attacks on Nee Network Based Systems Introduction Recent changes in the organizational structure of the IT system has left open needs for adjusting practices in order to address new demands of protection. The organization has recently made the move from a standalone system to a network based one, which facilitates greater cooperation and collaboration within the company and increasing overall productivity. A network based system provides a more flexible structure to still function within a diverse and multifaceted environment. It does so by the fact that within its structure, communication between components is restricted to message passing, or the equivalent of message passing is a more efficient mechanism can be selected at runtime based on the location of components (Fielding, 2000). Network based systems allow communication and dissemination of information to occur seamlessly without lag. This then further empowers individual employees of the organization with greater technological tools. The research suggests that network based systems are those capable of operation across a network, but not necessarily in a fashion that is transparent to the user, but rather as an automatic process that increases the ease and productivity of each user while working on the system (Fielding, 2000). As such, it comes with a wide variety of benefits to increase the productivity and efficiency of the organization. Analysis However, with the implementation of a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The External Competitive Environment at Lenova Introduction The proper planning and execution of strategy is crucial for any company to develop, especially when the industry is extremely competitive or volatile. Industry evolution brings change in sources and nature of competition (Porter 1979). This essay will analyse the external competitive environment and critically evaluate the strategies employed by Lenovo, a Chinese technological corporation, in dealing with the overall declining trend of the PC (personal computer) market. Case study overview Recent years saw the worldwide PC market growth rate undergoing a drastic plummet (Arthur 2013). The latest statistics from market research firm Gartner, showed an 8.6 percent decline in PC sales in the third quarter of 2013, with shipments dipping for sixth consecutive quarters (Hachman 2013). Plant cells [fig 3] have adapted themselves to ensure that these factors do not affect them, by forming a ridged wall, known as the cell wall, around their cells. The cell wall maintains the shape of the cell, and prevents the cell from bursting in a hypotonic medium by resisting water pressure. Plant cells have also adapted a larger vacuole, which occupies 80% or more of the cells cytoplasm (Davidson, 2004); allowing plants to store more water and nutrients per cell. Vacuoles also play a structural role in plant cells; by swelling when liquids contact them, plant vacuoles are able to control turgor pressure within the cell. This helps maintain the structural integrity of the cell as well as providing the plant with suitable amounts of water and nutrients; however the cell will never burst because the vacuole is contained within the cell wall. • 42. Niccolo Machiavelli s The Prince Machiavelli wrote The Prince in 16th century. His methods of acquiring and maintaining rule over people are not relevant in today s modern American society. There are many principles that are still true in politics today, but the methods of ruling can no longer be used in American society today. Niccolò Machiavelli was born in Florence, Italy in 1496. He was a diplomat in Italy s Florentine Republic for fourteen years. This was during the Medici family exile, and when they returned, Machiavelli was dismissed and shortly imprisoned. After he was released, he wrote The Prince. It was written as a handbook for politicians to follow and is considered the most famous book on politics ever written. Machiavelli is known as the father of modern political theory. He died in 1527 in Florence, Italy. In The Prince, Machiavelli describes the different methods of acquiring the power over a state. The first he mentions is if the principalities are acquired through one s own arms and virtue. They acquire their principality with difficulty but hold it with ease. (23) The second, Of New Principalities That Are Acquired by Others Arms and Fortune. (25) Someone gives these to the prince either for money or by the favor of whoever gave it. Those who become princes from private individual solely by fortune become so with little trouble, but maintain themselves with much. Burn Research Paper PART A The skin is the largest organ of the body, the skin protects us from microbes and the elements, it also helps regulate body temperature, and permits the sensations of touch, heat, and cold. There are three layers of skin, this includes the epidermis, the outermost layer of skin, provides a waterproof barrier and creates our skin tone, the dermis, beneath the epidermis, contains tough connective tissue, which gives the skin flexibility and strength, hair follicles, produce the various types of hair found throughout our body, sweat glands, these produce sweat in response to stress and heat, blood vessels of the dermis are what help regulate our body temperature, and nerve ending, which sense pain, pressure and temperature and the hypodermis, the deeper internal tissue is made of fat and connective tissue, this functions as a protective shield for ... The next type of burn is a second degree burn; these burns are more harmful because they damage more than the epidermis, it will blister and become extremely red and sore. Over time a thick, soft called tissue fibrinous exudate may develop over the wound. Excluding fourth degree burns, third degree burns are the most severe, they cause the most damage, extending through every layer of skin, there is a misconception that third degree burns are the most painful, however, with this type of burn the damage is so extensive that there may not be any pain because of nerve damage. • 46. Compare How Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen Communicate the... Compare how Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen communicate the theme of loss in Out, Out and Disabled . In the two poems Out, Out and Disabled , a similar theme of loss is portrayed. Both of these poems deal with the subject of physical loss, as both protagonists of these poems experience accidental amputation. Both Robert Frost and Wilfred Owen manage to captivate their audience s attention, and also a certain degree of sympathy for the protagonists misfortune. They do this successfully, with the use of common literary techniques and linguistic skills, such as simile, metaphor, personification, contrast, and many more literary devices, which range from obvious to very subtle. Out, Out , written by American poet Robert ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Within such a short sentence, the boy s life was simply gone. This use of tripling is very effective, as it may symbolise a heartbeat, slowly beating away, to its fate. The dashes further enhance this, as they make the reader pause in the gaps between the words, making the heartbeats seem further and further apart, and eventually dying away. Another quote which gives the reader a sense of loss is the final stanza of the poem: And they, since they were not the ones dead, turned to their affairs , in line 33 34. This quote, to put into simpler words, means that the people who were working with this young boy (who happen to be his family), had better things to do than to care for the death of this young boy, and simply turned away, and got back to work. This action seems alarmingly heartless, but nevertheless, Frost very successfully makes the jreaders feel a huge sense of loss. This line once again shows how meaningless and vulnerable life is. Written in the 1910s by Wilfred Owen, Disabled is a poem describing the experience of a young soldier losing his limbs after fighting in World War I. He later gets discriminated against, and feels isolated and regretful of his naïve reason to go to war. As opposed to Out, Out , Disabled does not have an ambiguous title at all. • 47. Racial Segregation Research Paper Racial segregation in the United States continued even after the Civil War, in the form of laws requiring separation of people by race and in the form of ubiquitous discrimination and widespread social resistance to integration. But even during the height of racial segregation and discrimination, people in the performing arts pushed their audiences to reconsider their prejudices and assumptions regarding classification and disparate treatment of people based on race. Broadway s and Hollywood s most famous musical theater writing team, Richard Rodgers and Oscar Hammerstein Jr., both reflected and powerfully commented upon these racial tensions in two of their most famous musicals: The King and I and South Pacific. These musicals reached immense ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In a time immediately after World War II, this show, set in Vanuatu during the war, was the answer to American citizens question, How should we rebuild our country Socially aside from economically? This show differed from the King and I in many ways, including the fact that the first couple shown in the show traveled to Vanuatu together instead of meeting there. South Pacific was considered by many to be Rodgers and Hammerstien s greatest show, winning a Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1950 as well as 10 Tony awards (The Broadway League), (Broadway Across America). This Show, thanks to its immense popularity in the 1950 s and 60 s, had two revivals, including one starring TV stars Kelli O Hara and Matthew Morrison. Hammerstien stated that South Pacific is inspired by James A. Michener s Tales of the South Pacific, and tells the story of Nellie Forbush and Emile de Becque visiting the war torn Vanuatu(Ewen). Even though this musical includes unforgettable songs like Some Enchanted Evening , Bali Ha i , and Younger than Springtime (which was named #224 on TIME s Songs of the Century List), there is a very controversial song about racism called You ve Got to Be Carefully Taught . • 48. Georgia OKeefe Black Iris Analysis Description Black Iris is a 1926 painting by artist Georgia O Keefe. The painting is especially notable for its monumental size and acute attention to detail, which in turn allowed O Keefe to force[] the viewer to observe the small details that might otherwise be overlooked ( Black Iris ). This attention is particularly focused on color and form, accentuating the gradation in the flower from dark purples to light greys and pinks along with the iris s curvaceous shape. O Keefe produced many similar immense paintings of flowers. Both Black Iris and O Keefe s other flower works are ostensibly only a large scale portrayal of a flower meant to evoke appreciation of the objects in nature that often go unnoticed and nothing more. Nonetheless, one of the most common interpretations of the flowers, and especially Black Iris, is that they are depictions of female genitalia (Ellis Petersen). Black Iris is said to contain highly evocative and sensual overtones and a near eroticism (Widewalls Editorial). O Keefe met the interpretations of works like Black Iris as erotic with vehement denials, stating: I made you take time to look at what I saw and when you took time to really notice my flower, you hung all your own associations with flowers on my flower and you write about my flower as if I think and see what you think and see of the flower and I don t, those associations being that flowers themselves look like female genitalia ( What do you see in Georgia O Keeffe s flowers? and Widewalls Editorial). Some who agree with the erotic interpretation of Black Iris and O Keefe s other flowers see the work as a reclamation of femininity and female sexuality, while others go even further in identifying O Keefe in a lineage of art by queer women, claiming the work as part of a lesbian tradition extending back to the eighteenth century ( What do you see ). Platonic Analysis If reading Black Iris as a portrait of female genitalia disguised as flower, the work takes its place on the second rung of the Ladder of Love. This second rung involves becoming a lover of all beautiful bodies rather than just one because the beauty on any body whatever is akin to that on any other body (Plato 210b). In Symposium, ... Aristotle: I would say that Harry s character was very tainted and distorted. His only motivation was brought on by his very own pleasure and pain, which is not in sync with any moral or ethical virtues. There is nothing by doing which a son will have done the equivalent of what he has received, so that he is always in debt. For no one could ever return to them (his mom) the equivalent of what he gets, but the man who serves them with the utmost or his power is thought to be a good man. That is not to be said about Harry. Interviewer: Harry has a Dynamite dream, a vision of a better life that stems from scoring some really good dope, cutting it, and then redistributing it in order to better himself financially and to get off the streets so he can stop stealing from his mom. He also wants to better his mom s situation, his girlfriend s situation, and his best friend/using buddies situation. In Harry s mind he s doing something good.
