The Greatest Heroes Of The War
Born on June 20th of 1925 to a family of poor sharecroppers in small town Texas, Audie Leon
Murphy had no idea he would soon be leaving for the deadliest war to ever plague the Earth.
Fresh out of the horrors of the First World War, few would have thought that yet another, deadlier
war was on the horizon. Even fewer would ve thought that a farm boy from Texas would become
one of the greatest heroes of the war.
Audie Murphy was by all accounts a nobody. He and his family lived a quiet life, sticking to
themselves and their farms. A young Murphy would simply help outside with the farm work,
almost never wanting to be indoors. Once the war broke out, Murphy felt called to serve his
country. He tried on several occasions to enlist in the Armed Forces underage as he was not of
legal age to enlist. With the help of his sister, Corrine, he successfully enlisted in the military at the
age of 17. He was given basic training, which he completed with ease.
Audie Murphy s first war experience was in North Africa during the Allied offensive to remove
Axis forces from the top of Africa. North Africa was a very important strategic point for both
forces. If the Allies were successful in their push for control, it would be a very important starting
point for an invasion of Fascist Italy, and ultimately Nazi Germany. Murphy s unit, however, saw
no combat in North Africa due to the expulsion of Axis Forces from their final African foothold of
Tunisia. Murphy was then sent to the island of

Philadelphia Loren Women And Beauty
Today in society almost everything is affected by beauty whether it s done consciously or
subconsciously. The fairness of beauty is a controversial subject since the world we live in prizes
beauty and rewards those who are believed to be beautiful. However, most people on each side
agree on the fact that beauty is valuable. Italian actress and author, Sophia Loren, believes this
statement but also claims in her book, Women and Beauty, beauty may seem unfair until you come
to understand what beauty really is and what part it plays in your life. Although Loren s point is
strong, her personal experience with beauty leaves her blind unable to notice the other side of the
spectrum. Beauty comes with it s own advantages and disadvantages, but what... Show more content

It would make sense that the people with the most talent in a sport would be spoken about more
on social media, although that s not the case in this day and age. For example, one of the most
popular female pole vaulters in the world is Allison Stokke. After having pictures of her posted
without her permission on a blog, she became famous across the internet. Ever since then,
Stokke has been written about in numerous articles and received multiple modeling offers.
Another American pole vaulter, Jenn Suhr, holds the indoor world record and is a defending
Olympic gold medalist. Stokke, who receives much more fame and wealth than Suhr, has only
gotten as far as the Olympic Trials where she didn t even clear the opening height. Suhr is more
successful yet doesn t get as much attention only because she isn t as beautiful which shows how
society prioritizes beauty unfairly over other traits. These standards of beauty that have an effect
on people for their entire lives is also illustrated in the article, Let s Change Tired Old Standards
of Beauty. When the author describes her girlfriend, she mentions that her girlfriend thinks her
nose is too big and her face is too fat. There shouldn t be a standard in the first place for what makes
a feature too big or too small. A long as there aren t any factors such as a health

Elie Wiesel s Night Essays
Night
In Night, by Elie Wiesel, there is an underlying theme of anger. Anger not directed where it
seems most appropriate at the Nazis but rather a deeper, inbred anger directed towards God.
Having once been a role model of everything a good Jew should be, Wiesel slowly transforms into
a faithless human being. He cannot comprehend why the God who is supposed to love and care
for His people would refuse to protect them from the Germans. This anger grows as Wiesel does and
is a constant theme throughout the book.
Early in Night, Elie Wiesel begins to express doubt about his faith. Some talked of God, of his
mysterious ways, ...and of their future deliverance. But I had ceased to pray. How I sympathized
with Job! I did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What does Your greatness mean, Lord of the universe, in the face of all this weakness, this
decomposition, and this decay? Why do You still trouble their sick minds, their crippled bodies?
(63)
In this passage Wiesel has become more overtly angry with God. He no longer hides behind the
reverence he has grown up knowing. Rather he is openly charging God with not only the
destruction of the Jewish people, but also with continually plaguing their thoughts. Having the
false hope that God may one day save them seems like a cruel joke. Wiesel seems to be saying that
if God has already decided not to save them, than the least He can do is quit allowing the people to
pray to and follow Him.
Wiesel also seems angry at the thought of comparing God s infinite greatness with the complete
disintegration of the people in the concentration camps. Thinking about God s power and strength
seems impossible when the only people surrounding Wiesel who are in positions of power are the
enemy. It seems almost morbidly amusing that the Jews are relying on this Savior who allows such
horrible conditions to continue. If he is so wonderful, why does he not save them?
Later in Night, Wiesel starts to believe that he has become a stranger among his own people and
religion. He no longer feels any spiritual connection with the other Jewish people.

Indian Givers
How the Indians of the Americas transformed the world
By J. McIver Weatherford This paper tries to explain Jack Weatherford s Indian Givers by
examining the history of the Native American connection to many agricultural products would not
have been produced without the knowledge that Indians gave. Weatherford further stipulates that it
is through these advances in agriculture that the United States has remained a strong contender in
the global market, that without the influences of the Native Americans on the early settlers those
early immigrants to America would not have survived. Through his work, Indian Givers: How

The drugs together with their improved agriculture made possible the population explosion of
the last several centuries. They developed and refined a form of democracy that has been
haphazardly and inadequately adopted in many parts of the world. They were the true
colonizers of America who cut the trails through the jungles and deserts, made the roads, and
built the cities upon which modern America is based. America owes a debt to slavery that can
never be repaid. That s not to say it shouldn t be. At the very least, it should be acknowledged,
validated, and honored with the respect that it deserves. Presents information and ideas that are
too often overlooked in our day to day thinking about what we have, and where those things
came from. Issues rose such as the American Indians contributions to the geopolitical influence
of American silver and gold on the rest of the world. Questions from my youth are where did all
of the Inca gold go to? Why is not Spain not a major world power? Why does it seem as though
most foods are native to the Americas? These are questions that are avoided in popular history
books, giving all of the stability of modern life to the credit of the civilized Europeans.

Comparing The Duality Of Human Nature In Alfred...
Alfred Hitchcock s horror film, Psycho, gives the audience insight on characters who display dual
personality traits. The audience gets to see changes occur within Norman and Marion throughout
the film. These two characters share nothing in common except for the fact that they are a capable
of being normal and committing crimes, showing that they have two different sides to themselves.
Hitchcock uses filmtechniques such as lighting, camera angles, and costume change to demonstrate
the duality of human nature. When the film first starts off, Marion Crane is shown lying on a bed
in her white underwear in a romantic scene along with her boyfriend Sam Loomis. The white she
is wearing represents her purity and her position on the bed tells us that she is the vulnerable one in
the scene. For a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The film techniques portray her in a manner that does not suggest that she is in any way bad.
That is until she steals four thousand dollars. Hitchcock s techniques go along with portraying
the other side of Marion. She s seen wearing black instead of white and when she is driving to
get as far away as possible, suspenseful music plays to heighten the pressure of the scene. The
audience only gets to see the duality of Marion for a short time due to the fact that her life was cut
short, but her costume changes and music that is played along her devious escape allow the
audience to clearly see the change that occurs. The duality in Norman Bates can be seen in several
different ways. Hitchcock uses costume change, lighting, voice overs, camera angles and music to
represent the two sides of Norman Bates. One side of him is Norman himself, a childish grown
man, awkward, friendly, and creepy and the other side of him is

Elements Of Terray
Long ago in a far off place, there were three fairies. These fairies were in control of the elements
and were much oved throughout the kingdom. The three fairies, Aqua, who worked with water,
Blaze, who controlled fire, and Terra, who looked over the land and earth. They kept the
elements in control, living upon the clouds and among the stars. They worked together, in
harmony, to make the world a wonderful place. Not all fairies are as good as these friends have
been. There are forces much more evil than the fairies. These bad forces are called wisps. They take
on the form of fairies to try and steal the fairydust that keeps the elementsin balance. If all the

The girls walk out sluggishly. They have heard this all before. They give Mary a glance that is

begins to speak, My name is Terra, and I m an element fairy. We know who you are, the girls say
in awe and amazement. Terra continues in a sad tone, I regret to inform you that nature is in
danger. As I was crossing realms, a wisp grabbed a hold of my dust. Now they have all three and
they can create a fairy in control of all the elements. This fairy can be bad and the only way to
stop her is for someone who believes in the fairies just as much as she believes in herself to
collect all of the elements and make her own fairy dust to sprinkle on the fairies. This will give
them back their powers and destroy the wisps creation. All eyes were on Mary. She stood up tall,

On the Latest Development of Modern English Vocabulary
On the Latest Development of Modern English Vocabulary
Abstractпјљ
As one of the three elements of language, vocabulary is sensitive to the fastest change. Modern
English vocabulary distributed in many areas always keeps developing. Though scholars at home
and abroad make great progress on English new words, it is far from satisfaction. This paper,
which is based on the previous findings, begins with the definition of English new words and its
study actuality. As new vocabulary is a mirror of social development, the source of its improvement
distributes in more than ten semantic fields reflecting the ever changing contemporary world in an

Henry James is afraid he is wholly unable to aid me in collecting words either of his own
invention or of anyone else s. (Gao, 1998, p.11). The existing lexicology thinks little of modern
English new vocabulary. The reasons are just like follows: firstly, uncertainty on the definition and
scale of new words; Secondly, incompleteness on the collecting of new words; lastly, without
authority standard and few is edited into dictionaries and books (Deng, 2005, p.49). However, as
professor Wang Rongpei said, As for new words, we cannot ignore them just because they haven t
been edited into dictionaries or accepted by the Standard English (2006). We should attach
importance to its development, formation and trend.
3. The Sources of English New Words
New words are being invented or introduced all the time. Sometimes a new word is produced by a
single person only, in some special situations. These words are called nonce words used only
once or coined for one particular occasion, and never occur again. Sometimes a new word coined
by a single speaker is used by a small group, such as the staff of the institution, and exists for a
time without gaining any wider circulation. Sometimes a new word is coined by a number of
people; such a word becomes an accepted part of language, and is fixed in a dictionary. When a
new product is made, a new conception comes in man s thought, and a new name must be found,
that is, a new

Contributions Of George Orwell
Orwell s Life:
On June 25th, 1903 Orwell was born in eastern India under the name Eric Arthur Blair. He went
to school in England then moved to Burma, which at the time was a British colony. He joined
the Indian Imperial Police and worked there until his resignation in 1927 when he decided to
become a writer. He moved to Paris where lack of success as a writer forced him into a series of
menial jobs (BBC). He took on the name George Orwell shortly before his first book Down and
Out in Paris and London was published. Orwell considered himself a socialist and briefly fought
in Spain against Franco s Nationalists before fleeing for his life. He wrote propaganda for the
BBC from 1941 1943 and in 1945 he published Animal Farm which brought his name to fame. In
1949 the now classic 1984 was published and the following year on January 21st 1950 he passed
away from tuberculosis.
Orwell s Work:
Most of Orwell s work was inspired at least in part by life events and his personal political views.
He used his experiences in poor areas of London and the slums of Paris as the base for his
written work Down and Out in Paris and London. He altered some of his actual experiences into
a work of fiction that would be more interesting to read than simply telling his story. Orwell s later
works often contained his political opinions, which he did not masterfully incorporate until he
wrote Animal Farm. In George Orwell: Why I Write Orwell said Every line of serious work that I

Separation And Ordeal Stages By Saadawi
Saadawi then uses the separation and ordeal stages as a platform to introduce the plight and
inequality of women that is deeply embedded in a patriarchal class system in which women endure
from a young age.
In fact, Firdaus begins to despise the society she s in, and believes a woman s life is bleak and
miserable. Her ordeal stage comprises of long and continuous battles between her and the men in
the world. The battles with her husband, Sheikh Mahmoud, left her emotionally and physically
wounded so she ran away only to encounter another battle named Bayoumi. These ordeals occur one
after the other, and after Bayoumi comes her descent into prostitution with her mentor Sharifa. Each
one of these arduous and impossible tasks symbolizes an inherent obstacle she must overcome. For

viewed her Uncle and Father as men she could trust but each turned her away for monetary relief.
Finally, the last illusion to unveil occurred after sleeping with the prince and tearing up his
payment, The movement of my hands as I tore the money to pieces, tore off the veil, the last,
remaining veil from before my eyes, to reveal the whole enigma which had puzzled me
throughout, the true enigma of my life (Saadawi 107). I believe this was the moment of her
reincorporation into society. The final truth was revealed, and Firdaus could become the person she
was always meant to be. A fearless womanwho has nothing, desires nothing, and thus, is utterly

Cronus God Of Time Essay
Cronus or Kronos was the Titan god of Harvest and Time. He was the youngest of the first
generation of titans that were bore by Gaia, the earth, and his father Uranus. Cronus was often
depicted carrying a scythe or sickle, therefore, it can be argued that Cronus being the god of time
could also be death. The reason for this is because death is often depicted as wearing robes while
carrying a scythe or sickle. Cronusrises to power by overthrowing his father Uranus. Uranus grows
weary of his wife Gaias creations, mainly the hundred handed Hecatonchires and the Cyclopes.
Uranus takes the Hecatonchires and shoves them back into the Earth effectively blocking any
further creation by Gaia. Gaia is not happy with this so she creates the sickle and goes to her
children, the titans, and asks which of them will exact revenge on Uranus. In the end all of the
titans decline except for Cronus. So, wielding the sickle Cronus faces his father and castrates him,
casting his testicles into the sea. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

The World s Columbian Exposition to celebrate the 400th anniversary of Christopher Columbus

have a high demand for a place to stay during their visit. A young man by the name of H.H.
Holmes decides to open up a large hotel during the Columbian Exposition to bring in extra
money. Little did his customers know that the man they are staying with would soon become one
of the first documented serial killers. Many aspects throughout Holmes s life formed him into
the kind of person he turned out to be. Influences from his childhood, his greed for money and
power, and his intelligence gave him the ability to construct his Murder Castle and carry out the
numerous killings. Studies show that children s most formative years are from birth to age five.
Born as Herman Webster Mudgett on May 16, 1861, Holmes showed signs at a very early age of
great intelligence. He was raised as a Methodist in the small town of Gilmanton, New Hampshire.
His father, Levi Mudgett, was a violent alcoholic. This sort of upbringing with a brutal father
like Holmes had is one of the many influences in Holmes s childhood that shaped him into the
kind of person he would soon become. Holmes started school at the age of six, but it was not an

Avie Products Inc. is planning to add a third shift to its production schedule. It currently has 450
workers involved in all aspects of its fertilizer business, best done in Canada. A recent surge in
demand from its global customers is driving the need for more workers; however, Simi Meher, the

3.Assume that Avie goes ahead with the third shift. What can the company use to evaluate the
effectiveness of this strategy in a year s time?
Avie can assess the effectiveness of this strategy by using the benchmarking. Benchmarking
involves comparing Avie Products processes and practices with the competition. This will allow
Avie to measure how fast and how far they have progressed with their strategic plan. The metrics
used are human capital metrics which assesses aspects of the workforce and HR metrics which
assesses the performance of the HR function.
4.If the demand for Avie s product should drop in the future and the company is required to lay off
some of the staff on the third shift, what would be the best way to determine who, on this shift,
should be laid off? (Note that Avie is not unionized.)
If Avie is required to lay off some employees hired for the third shift, the best way to determine
who should be laid off is based on seniority and/or ability. The ability of employees to change jobs
and learn new skills, along with their performance is heavily weighed when making layoff
decisions. Since Avie is not unionized, layoffs to senior employees can still occur. The practice of
using seniority as the basis for layoffs may have an impact on women and minority groups who
often have less seniority than others.
Also under the category of layoffs

Gendercide In The Bosnia-Herzegovina Genocide
Genocide has been around for ages, and usually occurs during a military conflict. When people
think of genocide, they think of the annihilation of a race, religion, or class including all members
of the group. Killing all the people in a family was considered the root and branch method. This
was used to assure that no other generations could come in the future. This is not the case for all
genocides. In the Bosnia Herzegovina genocide, battle aged men were murdered while the women
were taken as sex slaves. This is still considered genocide because the Serbs, killing all males who
were Muslim or Croats, would make it impossible for them to continue to reproduce and continue

Gendercide is the targeting of one gender in genocide, and in this case it is directed towards the
males. Rape is a weapon used in history, and by the Serbs, to humiliate and destroy the lives of
women and their culture. The Serbs used it to make the women never want to come back to their
homeland. Killing the men and enslaving the women is to prevent the next generation of Muslims
and Croats. The killing had started due to the breaking up of Yugoslavia, which was filled with
mixing ethnic groups, and religions in many of their cities. They would kill the male children to
make sure they could not plot revenge, or to reproduce (Jones 465). The males were targeted for
killings because they were seen as a military threat, unlike the women. The Serb s goal was the
ethnic cleansing of Bosnia Herzegovina, and the incorporate it into greater Serbia. Their strategy
was to terrorize the non Serb population into fleeing, to murder Muslim and Croat men, and then to
deport the remaining population. The killings and the rapes were done by Serbian men. Some

The Causes Of Sexual Orientation And Homosexuality
Charles Darwin famously said, We do not even in the least know the final cause of sexuality. The
whole subject is hidden in darkness (Ryu). Since the beginning of time, there have been questions
revolving around the topic of sexual orientation. Within the past few decades, homosexuality is
becoming more mainstream and socially acceptable as more people begin to examine their gender
identity and sexual preferences. Scientists researched to determine the cause of sexual orientation;
however, two opposing sides have formed around the issue: nature (inherited genes and biology)
versus nurture (the environment). Proponents of nature argue sexual orientation is biological and
genetic; whereas proponents of nurture argue sexual orientation is non biological, environmental,
and socially constructed.
According to the American Psychological Association, sexual orientation is not a choice; instead

Improving Emergency Department Throughput Time
Hospitals are experiencing patient congested emergency departments. At Baptist Memorial
Hospital, the increase in patient volume and limited capacity contributes to long length of stays and
patients leaving without being seen. As a result of overcrowded emergency rooms, patient length of
stay becomes more important. Throughput times in the emergency department (ED) play a
substantial role in patient and staff satisfaction. Length of stay in the ED is directly related to
patient volume, patient acuity, lab turnaround times, and time to treatment, which is all connected
to patient satisfaction. Long wait time ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Efficiency or streamlined processes are necessary to see and treat the number of patients presenting.
A specific problem that contributes to increased length of stay and delayed diagnosis is the timely
result of urinalysis. The root cause of delayed urinalysis results is attributed to failure to collect,
failure to transport, and failure to order. On a regular basis, the physicians wait on urinalysis
reports when all other ordered lab has resulted. In exploring the possible causes of delayed results,
it was discovered that when a urinalysis was ordered, many times the patient could not void.
Therefore, the urine was not collected and soon forgotten by the nurse. Additionally, urines
collected were not transported to the lab. The patient was provided with the specimen cup and
collected the urine, but it was left sitting at the bedside even though the lab technician might have
been in the room. Last, a problem exists with collecting urines but failing to order the test. Nurses
implement protocols but fail to order the test in the system.
In a simulation study, significant improvement in ED efficiency was shown with decreasing lab

You Have No Friends by Farhad Manjoo
Journalist, Farhad Manjoo, in his article, You Have No Friends, emphasizes the social and
networking benefits Facebook has to offer. Manjoo s purpose is to convince people that have
not joined the networking giant that the benefits of joining Facebook outweigh the arguments
to avoid it. He adopts a cogent tone in order address any concerns of the Facebook holdouts.
Manjoo opens his article by reciting a message that Mark Zuckerberg posted to the company s
blog, which stated that Facebook had reached its 150 millionth member. It was a quintessential
moment for the social networking giant, because it demonstrated the popularity and prominence
in how people network and stay connected with one another. For comparison purposes, Manjoo
states, If Facebook were a country, it would be the eight most populated in the world, just ahead
of Japan, Russia and Nigeria (Manjoo, 2009). He estimates that Facebook will grow to nearly
300 million people by this time next year in order to show the continuing popularity and growth
of Facebook (Manjoo, 2009). Manjoo was correct in his estimation in terms of growth and has
continued since the time of publication of the article. In fact, as of January 2014, the number of
monthly individual Facebook users surpassed 1.3 billion ( Facebook statistics, 2014). These
numbers are significant because it shows a shift in how people interact with one another and that

Reflection Paper On Restless Leg Syndrome
Chronic Disease Analytical Reflection Paper Introduction to Restless Leg Syndrome Willis
Ekbom Disease, commonly referred to as restless leg syndrome is a disorder of the nervous
sensory system that causes an uncomfortable urge to move the legs as defined by Sales,
Sanghera, Klocko, and Malcom (2016). These symptoms are majorly observed in the evening or
during nighttime when one assumes a resting position in bed. Consequently, they cause
difficulties in falling asleep. The interference in sleep makes resting leg syndrome be classified
as a sleep disorder. The symptom of resting leg syndrome may also appear when one is
undertaking a long rest during the day, travelling or even watching a movie (NIH, 2017).

Aesthetic Aspect People with a sedentary lifestyle, mostly the citizens of highly developed
countries, are known to take part in activities with less energy requirement and eat fat food.
Thus, there rises a need to encourage citizens to do daily exercises to reduce chances of
developing sedentary disorders. Socio political Aspect Alcohol and drug abuse are known to
aggravate the symptoms of multifactorial diseases. Washington and Zweber (2008) state that
alcohol is known to interfere with the pharmacokinetics, as well as the pharmacodynamics of
numerous drugs, including those used in the treatment of diabetes. Reduced effectiveness of the
drugs may aggravate the conditions. Finally, alcohol is known to penetrate the blood brain barrier
and thus, have an effect on the central nervous system. The governments thus need to tighten
laws that discourage citizens against drug usage. Personal Aspect With reduced quality of sleep
caused by restless leg syndrome, ethical problems appear, such as lack of concentration at work
place, as well as drowsiness during a social gathering. As a result, they may lead to reduced self
esteem of an individual suffering from restless leg syndrome. Ethical Aspect Similarly,
hyperactivity brought about by restless leg syndrome may compromise relationship between the

The Cost Of Public Transportation In The United States
Amongst the many choices we have to make today, we also must make a decision on how we will
get from point A to point B utilizing public transportation or our own vehicles. Public transportation
generally includes busses or trams for getting around town, and many large cities have commuter
trains. While there are other forms of transportation such as taxis and for hire cars such as Uber,
they can only move much smaller groups of people at a time. Public transportation in the United
States and other developed countries is relatively safe, but recent issues regarding accidents is also

To sum it up, having a car is a very useful vehicle that offers many advantages. Public
transportation has high capacity, saves energy and its cheap, but is less comfortable and less
expensive. Public transit is more convenient for some people for many reasons. Using private cars
is somewhat expensive and produces more pollution on atmosphere than public transport. All in all,

Analysis Of Homer s The Odyssey
Homer s The Odyssey is about Odysseus s journey back home after war. Just like in every
journey, Odysseus changes as the story progresses but the one the thing that does not change is
the use of his mind and sharp witted he is. There is an underlying theme of body versus mind in
this epic. This theme is noticeable in book eight lines 174 to 194. In this passage Odysseus is
responding to LГ odamas s challenge of joining in their games. In Odysseus s response he focuses
on birth, brains, or speech and brings up the question of which is more important body or mind.
Through his choice of wording and a few metaphors, Odysseus makes it seem like the mind is more
important to him all within twenty lines.
The structure and progression of this passage lends an outlook on Odysseus s thoughts towards
the idea of body versus mind. Odysseus bases this passage off of birth, brains, or speech and then
builds on that with examples. This passage can then essentially be broken down into four separate
parts. Odysseus begins with an example of a man that is a master of speech and through his
speech he can seem beautiful to people. Then Odysseus briefly speaks about an actual handsome
man who does not have the ability to speak eloquently. For his third example, he does not use a
random man but instead directly targets LГ odamas and how unintelligible he is. The final section
of this passage is a reflection of Odysseus s emotions towards what LГ odamas has said to him.
Since Odysseus s

King Henry V As The Mirror Of All Christian Kings
In this week s first lecture we opened by watching the prologue from a production of Henry V.
We discussed how this plays setting is that of some years after Henry IV. The present king Henry
is the matured prince Hal from the last story. Shakespeare referred to King Henry V as the
mirror of all Christian kings, as he is a reflection of what Christian kings should be. We then
talked about the essence of how this grand type of story could be effectively performed in a small
wooden theater. We talked about the bond between the author, actors, and audience that exists in
the theater. We also talked about the text of the prologue in which the chorus simply asks the
audience to use their imaginations by requesting that they suspend disbelief. In this the Chorus
essentially pleads with the audience to view the representations presented to them as what they
are intended more than what they are. For this to be effective the triple bond comes into play, the
writing, acting and audience participation are all required to properly appreciate the story as it
was intended. We will use two approaches to look at this play, the first is as a Christian hero. We
mentioned how Henry Vwas an embodiment of the symbols of the lion, fox, and pelican. The first
scene after the prologue includes two cardinals praising the king for his great qualities. We began
looking at some of the representations of Henry V as the fox symbol embodying the qualities of
justice, wisdom, and diplomacy. We watched

Analysis Of Shane Koyczan And Many Artists
To this day is a spoken word poem and video illustration by Shane Koyczan and many artists. It
was created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the convincing message that
bullying is a real and serious thing that is too often dismissed as normal and not acted upon as
the serious thing it is. 2013 was shortly after the new large push against bullying which is likely
one large reason as to the creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti
bullying movement it would not have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at
conveying its own point against bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan made his piece so
successful by successfully using ethosand pathosto make hard hitting grounded points to his
purpose. He also used small amounts of logos but it was not a majorly effective part of his piece.
Ethos is the way the writer creates a persona that allows the audienceto see them as trustworthy,
relatable, knowledgeable, and as someone with authority. Then uses these to convince an
audience of their point. This is use of ethos effectively done in the creation of koyczan s poem to
this day . He shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer by showing them that he has
personal experience with the main topic. He tells the story of his pain when he was bullied and
how simple name calling left lasting effects on him personally. This not only lets the viewer see
that he has a reliable viewpoint, it shows that he has

Changes During The Elizabethan Era
During The Elizabethan Age, things were a lot, and I mean a lot more different than the things
happening in the now. Things, such as political power, education, government and even literature
have changed drastically because of the constant change happening in our society. In terms of
politics, we differ in the kind of government we are implicating. Back then we used to follow the
political structure of Monarchy, wherein we had a simplified social order of the Monarch or the
queen, the nobility class, the merchants, the yeomans, and the laborers. This structure gave people
with higher ranks complete power over those people on lower ranks. In the Elizabethan Era, Queen
Elizabeth I (the monarch) made all the ultimate decisions for her state.

The Matrix, By The Wachowski Brothers
Art has always been, and always will be, our most instinctual way of producing visual adaptions
of our inner fantasies. Imaginings that are based on what is real, but appear to belong to another
place entirely. One of the most engaging of art forms in which we do this, is film. Its ability to
recreate the impossibilities of our imagination, in a way that is realistic and believable, is one that
is hard to replace within the genres of science fiction and fantasy. A classic example of such a film
is The Matrixa science fiction masterpiece directed by The Wachowski Brothers. Released in 1999,
the film has an extreme amount of depth not only in its storyline, but in its innovative use of visual
effects and camerawork. Therefore in this essay I have decided to critically examine the underlying
thematic content of The Matrix , and the way in which the use of visual effects and cinematography
contributed to the execution of its intricate dystopian narrative, and the themes present within it.
Advances in technology have allowed filmmakers to produce more and more works based within
the setting of fantasy and reality, coexisting with each other. And often, as it is in The Matrix ,
reflecting back on each other. One of the themes within The Matrix that relates to this element, is
this idea of the blurring lines between what is man and what is machine . The film clearly presents
humans and machines on opposing sides of an ongoing battle for life, yet throughout the film we are

You Are Who You Pretend To Be
I recently was introduced to a Kurt Vonnegut quote by a friend. It was mentioned only in passing
and was likely meant only to carry the conversation on, but I have come back to it many times in
my thoughts. The quotation was a warning: Be careful who you pretend to be because you are
who you pretend to be . The truth behind this sentiment is far more pertinent to our lives than we
might like to think. We all have visions of who we are based on what we know, how we compare
ourselves to others, and how we attempt to act, but the actuality of who we are exists
independently of that personal ideal. The truth of the matter is that, regardless of our apparent
individuality, the way we act around others, how we dress and talk, and our general... Show more

When we actively pursue our desires, we take on traits favorable to the completion of our goals.
The assimilation of those traits into our personality may be little more than a result of repetition,
but they become a basis upon which our identity might change or, more consequentially, be judged.
This idea of the formulation of identity is not unfounded, and, although not overtly present in
literature, can be witnessed in certain characters just as in the real world. In order to keep this
essay at least somewhat on topic with the class, I would like to relate this idea to at least some
works which we have read. To observe such formulations of identity in literature, it is usually
unwise to look at the main character. Although that is the main place to find character development,
it wouldn t be a good novel if the character were to constantly change his ideas and behaviors.
The first character who I believe shows just how this idea of identity holds true is the ever
despised Arthur Chillingworth. The very nature of his character is action. Though he is not a
character who we see as active physically in obtaining his goals, without his drive for revenge on
Hester and Dimmesdale he would not be noteworthy at all. Unless he was a peculiar individual in
his life before the story of the scarlet letter, it could be assumed that he was not previously driven
by revenge. It is understandable, then, to look at him as an individual

Definition of Sustainability
The introduction of the term sustainable into the political language came about in a report titled
The limits to growth in 1972 by the Club of Rome. Club of Rome was an international association
which consisted of scientists, business executives, public officials and scholars. Sustainable is
defined by the writers as a model of output that represents a sustainable world system which does
not have a dynamic collapse. It is able to meet the basic material requirements that are needed by
the environment (Meadows et al, 1972).
However, the term sustainability has several definitions. One, being the ability of people and
organisations to preserve the remaining natural resources and use these resources wisely in order to
sustain an environmentally healthy future. The

undisciplined like built body and because of those elements the citizens would not be able to
really accomplish themselves. She regards and feels that it is required for social stratification to
occur. Moreover, the Queen absolutely believes that whatever the general is performing is the
appropriate way. When she contradicts, she tries to use tact to figure out the issue and deliver her

The Impact Of The Clean Air Act
The two most important laws governing the EPA were passed by Congress within a two year
span of Richard Nixon s presidency (The Atlantic, 2017). The Clean Air Act of 1970 states the
EPA can set standards for what kinds of toxic air pollutants can be released into the ambient air, and
the Clean Water Act of 1972, states the EPA can set standards for what pollutants can be released
into lakes, streams, and rivers, and requires polluters to obtain permits in order to pollute (The
Atlantic, 2017). Under the Obama Administration, the CAA and the CWA underwent major rule
changes. On August 3, 2015, under the Obama Administration, the EPA finalized new rules or
standards, that would reduce carbon emissions from power plants. Prior to the rule,... Show more

The final version of the rule aimed to reduce national electricity sector emissions by an estimated
32 percent below the 2005 levels by 2030 (UCSUSA, 2016). The plan provided for a number of
options like investing in renewable energy, energy efficiency, and shifting away from coal fire
power to cut carbon emissions. It also determined state emissions reduction targets by estimating the
extent to which states can take advantage of each of them. The Trump Administration questioned
EPA s authority to regulate climate pollution from power plants. The Administration argued that
under section 112 of the CAA, EPA cannot regulate climate pollution from power plants since it is
already separately regulating different pollutants (Carbonell, 2016). Further, the Trump
Administration believes that the CPP is an illegal attempt to reorganize the nation s energy grid, an
attack on the coal industry and a job killer (Magill, 2016). It also believes that the Plan would cause
unprecedented regulatory overreach (Magill, 2016). Additionally, according to Harvard Law
Professor Laurence Tribe, the CPP violates the Fifth Amendment because it constitutes a regulatory
taking by the federal government, limiting a corporation s use of its coal plants without due
compensation, and that it violates the Tenth Amendment by coercing states into creating their own
CO2 reduction plans or

Pandemic Death Monologue
Pandemic Death So It started when I was young about nine years of age and it was early in the
year 1350. It started a little like this, there was a knock on the door and I got up to go see who it
was. When I opened the door there was a man on his horse. The man asked my parents were
home, they were, so I said I could go and get them. Once I had gotten my parents the man asked
if they are willing to go on a trip through the sea to Kwillining, London. They said they would, so
they put in there few overalls and dirty old jeans into a small waggon that are going to have to hall
46 miles to get to the ship. I have two brothers... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Her mother had just died of plague and Elizabeth needed somewhere to go so, I invited her over.
Brett said,
We all went inside and ate some soup. Once we were done we told each other a little about what
we liked to do for fun. After that we drew things in the dirt. WE were having so much fun
together...Until there was a deep voice outside our door.
The voice was booming, dark, and scary. They then suddenly I saw the door split in two. A man
about twice the height as me then thundered in. The man started rambling on about how everyone
is dieing and that the world was going to end. I noticed there were swollen oval shaped things the
size of an apple.
The man then asked, I ve traveled a long way and i m so tired of seeing dead bodies everywhere I
go I was also wondering if I could sit a while here. Just about everyone is dead around here.
I told him he could stay a while and I got him some fresh water. The man said he would replace our
door and he was very sorry for hacking it down.
He got up and was getting ready to leave when he fell to the floor weakly and started coughing up
blood. We knew exactly what this meant. He had the

Biography Of James Scott Wheeler s The Big Red
The history of the United States Army s 1st Infantry Division is one of many firsts. The most
complete history of the division, James Scott Wheeler s The Big Red One: America s Legendary
1st Infantry Division from World War I to Desert Storm, describes many of these firsts in detail.
The 1st Division was the first U.S. divisionto be organized in the Army during World War I
, the first
division to deploy overseas, and the first unit to engage the enemy in Europe as part of the
American Expeditionary Force (A.E.F.). This paper is the story of these World War I firsts.
Using primary documents to include the massive volumes of the World War Records of the First
Division, A.E.F., Regular available at the Fairchild Library, and the reminiscences of Major
General Robert Lee Bullard, who initially served as a Brigade Commander and then commanded
the Division for the first American battles in France. This paper chronicles the deployment, training
in France, and major battles of the 1st Division in the Great War. The United States entered World
War I on 6 April 1917. Thus began a massive mobilization and expansion of the United States Army
with the intent to deploy enough Soldiers and Marines to the Western Front in France to defeat
the German forces and end the war. The plan was to eventually deploy a million men organized
into 42 U.S. divisions, a staggering number considering that the Army had zero divisions in April
1917 and was comprised of only 127,588 Soldiers in

Essay on Ban the Use of Cluster Bombs
Ban the Use of Cluster Bombs
It looked like the ball boys and girls toss each other during Hmong New Year festivities. Six year
old Sia Ya threw it to her four year old brother, He couldn t catch it and it landed behind him,
exploding and killing him instantly. Sia Ya died after two agonizing days and nights in the
provincial hospital. (Account of Laotian cluster bomblet accident in 1996 Laos War Legacy )
I. INTRODUCTION Cluster bombs were first used in the American conflict in Vietnam and Laos
in the sixties. They became popular because they are one of the cheapest air delivered weapons
available, costing about $60 per bomblet. They can be used against a variety of targets covering
significant areas, rather than, for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some bombs open up (Multi dispensers), and other eject out the submunitions (Single dispensers).
Submunitions are classified as bomblets, grenades, or mines. They are small explosive filled or
chemical filled items designed for saturation coverage of a large area that can expand from several
football fields to hundreds of acres. They may be antipersonnel (APERS), antimateriel (AMAT),
antitank (AT), dual purpose (DP), incendiary, or chemical.
Most submunitions are used to destroy an enemy/vehicle in place (impact submunitions). They are
designed to go off when they hit the ground.
For example, the ball type submunitions used during the Laotian conflict are called APERS.
They are very small (of the size of a tennis ball) and are delivered by the hundreds for each bomb.
If not detonated upon impact, they will lie hidden like a land mine, and will not blow up until
pressure is put on it. When it hits the ground, a small fragmentation ball shoots up and detonates
about 6 feet above the ground.
The AMAT and/or AT submunitions are designed to destroy hard targets such as vehicles and
equipment. They are dispersed from an aircraft dropped dispenser and function when they hit a
target or the ground. The fin assembly stabilizes these submunitions in flight so they hit their
targets straight on. The submunitions are also used to destroy hard targets such as vehicles and

  • 2. The Greatest Heroes Of The War Born on June 20th of 1925 to a family of poor sharecroppers in small town Texas, Audie Leon Murphy had no idea he would soon be leaving for the deadliest war to ever plague the Earth. Fresh out of the horrors of the First World War, few would have thought that yet another, deadlier war was on the horizon. Even fewer would ve thought that a farm boy from Texas would become one of the greatest heroes of the war. Audie Murphy was by all accounts a nobody. He and his family lived a quiet life, sticking to themselves and their farms. A young Murphy would simply help outside with the farm work, almost never wanting to be indoors. Once the war broke out, Murphy felt called to serve his country. He tried on several occasions to enlist in the Armed Forces underage as he was not of legal age to enlist. With the help of his sister, Corrine, he successfully enlisted in the military at the age of 17. He was given basic training, which he completed with ease. Audie Murphy s first war experience was in North Africa during the Allied offensive to remove Axis forces from the top of Africa. North Africa was a very important strategic point for both forces. If the Allies were successful in their push for control, it would be a very important starting point for an invasion of Fascist Italy, and ultimately Nazi Germany. Murphy s unit, however, saw no combat in North Africa due to the expulsion of Axis Forces from their final African foothold of Tunisia. Murphy was then sent to the island of ... • 3. Philadelphia Loren Women And Beauty Today in society almost everything is affected by beauty whether it s done consciously or subconsciously. The fairness of beauty is a controversial subject since the world we live in prizes beauty and rewards those who are believed to be beautiful. However, most people on each side agree on the fact that beauty is valuable. Italian actress and author, Sophia Loren, believes this statement but also claims in her book, Women and Beauty, beauty may seem unfair until you come to understand what beauty really is and what part it plays in your life. Although Loren s point is strong, her personal experience with beauty leaves her blind unable to notice the other side of the spectrum. Beauty comes with it s own advantages and disadvantages, but what... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It would make sense that the people with the most talent in a sport would be spoken about more on social media, although that s not the case in this day and age. For example, one of the most popular female pole vaulters in the world is Allison Stokke. After having pictures of her posted without her permission on a blog, she became famous across the internet. Ever since then, Stokke has been written about in numerous articles and received multiple modeling offers. Another American pole vaulter, Jenn Suhr, holds the indoor world record and is a defending Olympic gold medalist. Stokke, who receives much more fame and wealth than Suhr, has only gotten as far as the Olympic Trials where she didn t even clear the opening height. Suhr is more successful yet doesn t get as much attention only because she isn t as beautiful which shows how society prioritizes beauty unfairly over other traits. These standards of beauty that have an effect on people for their entire lives is also illustrated in the article, Let s Change Tired Old Standards of Beauty. When the author describes her girlfriend, she mentions that her girlfriend thinks her nose is too big and her face is too fat. There shouldn t be a standard in the first place for what makes a feature too big or too small. A long as there aren t any factors such as a health ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Elie Wiesel s Night Essays Night In Night, by Elie Wiesel, there is an underlying theme of anger. Anger not directed where it seems most appropriate at the Nazis but rather a deeper, inbred anger directed towards God. Having once been a role model of everything a good Jew should be, Wiesel slowly transforms into a faithless human being. He cannot comprehend why the God who is supposed to love and care for His people would refuse to protect them from the Germans. This anger grows as Wiesel does and is a constant theme throughout the book. Early in Night, Elie Wiesel begins to express doubt about his faith. Some talked of God, of his mysterious ways, ...and of their future deliverance. But I had ceased to pray. How I sympathized with Job! I did ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What does Your greatness mean, Lord of the universe, in the face of all this weakness, this decomposition, and this decay? Why do You still trouble their sick minds, their crippled bodies? (63) In this passage Wiesel has become more overtly angry with God. He no longer hides behind the reverence he has grown up knowing. Rather he is openly charging God with not only the destruction of the Jewish people, but also with continually plaguing their thoughts. Having the false hope that God may one day save them seems like a cruel joke. Wiesel seems to be saying that if God has already decided not to save them, than the least He can do is quit allowing the people to pray to and follow Him. Wiesel also seems angry at the thought of comparing God s infinite greatness with the complete disintegration of the people in the concentration camps. Thinking about God s power and strength seems impossible when the only people surrounding Wiesel who are in positions of power are the enemy. It seems almost morbidly amusing that the Jews are relying on this Savior who allows such horrible conditions to continue. If he is so wonderful, why does he not save them? Later in Night, Wiesel starts to believe that he has become a stranger among his own people and religion. He no longer feels any spiritual connection with the other Jewish people. ...Once I had believed profoundly that upon one solitary deed of mine, one ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A specific problem that contributes to increased length of stay and delayed diagnosis is the timely result of urinalysis. The root cause of delayed urinalysis results is attributed to failure to collect, failure to transport, and failure to order. On a regular basis, the physicians wait on urinalysis reports when all other ordered lab has resulted. In exploring the possible causes of delayed results, it was discovered that when a urinalysis was ordered, many times the patient could not void. Therefore, the urine was not collected and soon forgotten by the nurse. Additionally, urines collected were not transported to the lab. • 25. Analysis Of Homer s The Odyssey Homer s The Odyssey is about Odysseus s journey back home after war. Just like in every journey, Odysseus changes as the story progresses but the one the thing that does not change is the use of his mind and sharp witted he is. There is an underlying theme of body versus mind in this epic. This theme is noticeable in book eight lines 174 to 194. In this passage Odysseus is responding to LГ odamas s challenge of joining in their games. In Odysseus s response he focuses on birth, brains, or speech and brings up the question of which is more important body or mind. Through his choice of wording and a few metaphors, Odysseus makes it seem like the mind is more important to him all within twenty lines. The structure and progression of this passage lends an outlook on Odysseus s thoughts towards the idea of body versus mind. Odysseus bases this passage off of birth, brains, or speech and then builds on that with examples. This passage can then essentially be broken down into four separate parts. Odysseus begins with an example of a man that is a master of speech and through his speech he can seem beautiful to people. Then Odysseus briefly speaks about an actual handsome man who does not have the ability to speak eloquently. For his third example, he does not use a random man but instead directly targets LГ odamas and how unintelligible he is. The final section of this passage is a reflection of Odysseus s emotions towards what LГ odamas has said to him. Since Odysseus s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Barstow reasoned that a prison farm could bring income and jobs to the town to make up for the economic fall of the quarry and railroad. The town had a piece of land that had not been cleared across the Kettle Rover to the east of the Sandstone that Barstow thought would be perfect. • 28. King Henry V As The Mirror Of All Christian Kings In this week s first lecture we opened by watching the prologue from a production of Henry V. We discussed how this plays setting is that of some years after Henry IV. The present king Henry is the matured prince Hal from the last story. Shakespeare referred to King Henry V as the mirror of all Christian kings, as he is a reflection of what Christian kings should be. We then talked about the essence of how this grand type of story could be effectively performed in a small wooden theater. We talked about the bond between the author, actors, and audience that exists in the theater. We also talked about the text of the prologue in which the chorus simply asks the audience to use their imaginations by requesting that they suspend disbelief. In this the Chorus essentially pleads with the audience to view the representations presented to them as what they are intended more than what they are. For this to be effective the triple bond comes into play, the writing, acting and audience participation are all required to properly appreciate the story as it was intended. We will use two approaches to look at this play, the first is as a Christian hero. We mentioned how Henry Vwas an embodiment of the symbols of the lion, fox, and pelican. The first scene after the prologue includes two cardinals praising the king for his great qualities. We began looking at some of the representations of Henry V as the fox symbol embodying the qualities of justice, wisdom, and diplomacy. We watched ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 29. Analysis Of Shane Koyczan And Many Artists To this day is a spoken word poem and video illustration by Shane Koyczan and many artists. It was created in 2013 with the purpose of effectively spreading the convincing message that bullying is a real and serious thing that is too often dismissed as normal and not acted upon as the serious thing it is. 2013 was shortly after the new large push against bullying which is likely one large reason as to the creation and popularity of this work. However even with the anti bullying movement it would not have become popular if it was not in itself an effective piece at conveying its own point against bullying and contributing to the cause. Koyczan made his piece so successful by successfully using ethosand pathosto make hard hitting grounded points to his purpose. He also used small amounts of logos but it was not a majorly effective part of his piece. Ethos is the way the writer creates a persona that allows the audienceto see them as trustworthy, relatable, knowledgeable, and as someone with authority. Then uses these to convince an audience of their point. This is use of ethos effectively done in the creation of koyczan s poem to this day . He shows his reliability and knowledge to the viewer by showing them that he has personal experience with the main topic. Imaginings that are based on what is real, but appear to belong to another place entirely. One of the most engaging of art forms in which we do this, is film. Its ability to recreate the impossibilities of our imagination, in a way that is realistic and believable, is one that is hard to replace within the genres of science fiction and fantasy. A classic example of such a film is The Matrixa science fiction masterpiece directed by The Wachowski Brothers. Released in 1999, the film has an extreme amount of depth not only in its storyline, but in its innovative use of visual effects and camerawork. Therefore in this essay I have decided to critically examine the underlying thematic content of The Matrix , and the way in which the use of visual effects and cinematography contributed to the execution of its intricate dystopian narrative, and the themes present within it. Advances in technology have allowed filmmakers to produce more and more works based within the setting of fantasy and reality, coexisting with each other. And often, as it is in The Matrix , reflecting back on each other. One of the themes within The Matrix that relates to this element, is this idea of the blurring lines between what is man and what is machine . It was mentioned only in passing and was likely meant only to carry the conversation on, but I have come back to it many times in my thoughts. The quotation was a warning: Be careful who you pretend to be because you are who you pretend to be . The truth behind this sentiment is far more pertinent to our lives than we might like to think. We all have visions of who we are based on what we know, how we compare ourselves to others, and how we attempt to act, but the actuality of who we are exists independently of that personal ideal. The truth of the matter is that, regardless of our apparent individuality, the way we act around others, how we dress and talk, and our general... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When we actively pursue our desires, we take on traits favorable to the completion of our goals. The assimilation of those traits into our personality may be little more than a result of repetition, but they become a basis upon which our identity might change or, more consequentially, be judged. This idea of the formulation of identity is not unfounded, and, although not overtly present in literature, can be witnessed in certain characters just as in the real world. In order to keep this essay at least somewhat on topic with the class, I would like to relate this idea to at least some works which we have read. To observe such formulations of identity in literature, it is usually unwise to look at the main character. Although that is the main place to find character development, it wouldn t be a good novel if the character were to constantly change his ideas and behaviors. The first character who I believe shows just how this idea of identity holds true is the ever despised Arthur Chillingworth. The very nature of his character is action. Though he is not a character who we see as active physically in obtaining his goals, without his drive for revenge on Hester and Dimmesdale he would not be noteworthy at all. Unless he was a peculiar individual in his life before the story of the scarlet letter, it could be assumed that he was not previously driven by revenge.
