The specific subculture I want to use as an example is from the reading In Our
Angelhood: Rave as Counterculture and Spiritual Revolution by Simon Reynolds.
Reynolds talks about the roots of the rave culture that started in the UK underground
clubs in the 1990 s. Although they still had to run and try to outsmart the police, it
actually gave the rowdy teenagers who were causing trouble something to do besides

as a rave. I think this trend is partially due to the drug culture that surrounds raves
and raving. It is no secret that many young adults in college towns use alcohol and
drugs, usually at whatever party or get together that are going to that weekend.
This makes raves, a place full of music, dancing, and drugs/alcohol, an appealing
idea. What really pushes this into the popular culture is the commercial side of it.
Instead of having secret warehouse raves, many venues and bars are promoting the
idea of a live DJs or a rave type settings because that s what brings the people in (and
the people bring in the revenue). The more money that can be made off something,
the more public and mainstream it goes. So while it doesn t surprise me that raving is

Pygmalion and My Fair Lady: A Comparison George Bernard Shaw s Pygmalion
(1916) and the 1964 American film My Fair Lady, based on Shaw s play, are largely
similar in plot and character choice; My Fair Lady being an adaptation of Pygmalion.
Shaw s Pygmalion is based on the Greek myth of Pygmalion and his statue Galatea.
The film interpretation is similar to the play in many aspects, though it is different
in that, because it is a film, the creators had more liberty with scenes and props used.
My Fair Lady is a successful movie adaptation of Shaw s Pygmalion in that it
conveys most of the message Shaw wrote, introduced very similar characters and
storyline; however, the film adds in musical elements, more extravagant examples
of scenes, and slightly different themes and emotional responses than the play
itself has to offer audiences. My Fair Lady is basically a straight adaptation of
Pygmalion much of the script is the same dialogue as the play exactly, or with a
few words changed, and takes direct quotes from Shaw s writing. The characters
have the same names that Shaw gave them, and their personalities are quite the

These past years I spent my time tracking the virus of Ebola as well as its various
strains all over the world. At first I didn t know of the disease, only of the
mysterious deaths. I had heard a rumor of a man by the name of Monet who had
