Communications Essay
Writing an essay on the topic of communication may seem like a straightforward task at first
glance, but delving into the intricacies of this vast subject can quickly unveil its complexities.
The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent and well-structured piece but also in
capturing the multifaceted nature of communication itself.
To start with, communication is a broad field that encompasses various aspects such as verbal
and non-verbal communication, interpersonal dynamics, cultural influences, and the ever-
evolving landscape of digital communication. Crafting an essay that comprehensively covers
these diverse elements requires meticulous research, critical thinking, and a nuanced
understanding of the subject matter.
Moreover, effective communication is not just about conveying information; it involves
understanding the audience, adapting to different contexts, and addressing potential barriers.
Balancing theoretical frameworks with practical examples and real-world applications adds
another layer of complexity to the writing process.
The evolving nature of communication, driven by technological advancements, societal changes,
and global interconnectedness, introduces an additional challenge. Staying updated on the latest
trends and incorporating them into the essay to provide a contemporary perspective requires
ongoing research and adaptability.
Furthermore, the essay should be thought-provoking and engage readers by offering fresh
insights or perspectives on communication. Achieving this requires creativity and the ability to
think critically about the implications and significance of various communication theories and
practices.
In summary, writing a comprehensive and compelling essay on communication demands a
combination of research, critical thinking, adaptability, and creativity. It is not merely about
presenting information but about exploring the depth and nuances of a dynamic and multifaceted
field.

UFO and Alien Sightings
UFO and Alien sightings One of the most interesting topics to think about is if we
really alone in this world. Many people believe that aliens do not exist, and many
people believe that aliens do exist. Some people claim to have been abducted, and
some people believe it is crazy to say other life forms may exist out there. Interesting
enough, many signs do point to the existence of extraterrestrial lifeforms. Many
examples of Alien and UFO sightings include, such as spaceship wreckage, recorded
sightings in the sky, and Alien life forms found on Earth and other planets. To begin
with, reported Alien sightings continue to surface. The 1947 Roswell incident is a
great example of a UFO sighting. An unidentified flying objectcrashed on a ranch
northwest of Roswell, New Mexico, sometime during the first week of July 1947 (
1947 Roswell UFO Incident ). Brazel said that as they rode along, he began to
notice unusual pieces of what seemed to be metal debris scattered over a large
area. Upon further inspection, he said, he noticed a shallow trench several
hundred feet long gouged into the ground ( 1947 Roswell UFO Incident ). And,
according to Marcel, the debris was strewn over a wide area, I guess maybe three
quarters of a mile long and a few hundred feet wide. Scattered in the debris were
small bits of metal that Marcel held a cigarette lighter to, to see if it would burn (
1947 Roswell UFO Incident ). The Proctors told Brazel he might be holding

The Four Methods Of Raising Children
It is common for the older generation to talk about having their children. These
stories are usually filled with happiness and sorrow as they recount the troubles and
joys they had raising their kids. Not every parent has the same method for teaching
their children. There are four basic methods that are used by most though and they
are as follows:
В· The Authority Method This is the method where the main form of control over the
children is fear. This means that anything the parents tell their children must be
obeyed without question. The children listen because they know if they do not the
punishments are severe and followed through with. There is no conversation or
compromise, it is what it is. Those children who do not comply or who question their
parents are punished. This method does not lead to a healthy and happy child. Instead
of loving their parents, they fear them instead. Many of the children produced from an
authority upbringing have hard times in adult life because they do not know how to
interact with others in a healthy manner. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They do not stop this type of bad behavior and ignore it instead. Instead of steering
their children in the right direction or setting boundaries, they feel that their children
learn more by making their own mistakes and learning from them. There is more
openness in the parent child relationship and compromise is the key for the parents
who use this method of parenting. The one aspect that is good about this parenting
method is that the parents are much closer to their children that the authority parents
and they tend to be more open minded when their children are not cut exactly from
the same cloth as they are. The children are allowed to be their own people and this
allows for more
Summary Of Toward The North Star By Eudora Welty
In the article Toward the North Star: Eudora Welty s A Worn Path and the slave
narrative by Kevin Moberly, the author Kevin Moberly connects the obstacles that
appear in the path to the slave narrative and argues that the journey Phoenix Jackson
makes is a journey that does not lead to freedom, but it leads into successive stages
of bondage. He also argues that Phoenix s crossing also suggests a descent into
slaveryand bondage. For example, the tapping of Phoenix Jackson cane links her to
a symbol of freedom and voice the chirping of a solitary little bird (142).
Throughout the journey she encounters different obstacles the first ones are the
woods and hills . She is struggling up the hills, but she maintains her balance. While
walking, she complains about how difficult it has become to walk this path, no
doubt that she has traveled this path so many times. Climbing the hills, it gives an
illusion to bondage. On the way she encounters thorn bushes , she struggles to
release herself, but gets caught into another Thorns, you doing your appointed
work. Never want to let folks pass, no sir. Old eyes, though you were a pretty little
green bush Phoenix says while feeling a sense of deception. When one examines the
first incident that undoubtedly recalls a trope of a slave narrative tradition, Phoenix
says, Now comes the trails, she then proceeds to cross the log with her eyes shut like
a festival figure in some parade (143). Phoenix actions, recalls the suffering
Beethoven and Tchaikovsky
Beethoven and Tchaikovsky
While Ludwig van Beethoven and Peter Ilyich Tchaikovsky have much in common,
they also have many differences. Both men are famous for their orchestral
compositions and their future influence on other composers. They experienced a
blend of horrible failures and great successes. Although they were from different
musical time periods, they both made huge contributions to the world of music.
Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany 1770; the second half of the
classical period. After the death of his grandfather, who was also named Ludwig van
Beethoven, the family was on a downward slope financially. As far as physical
appearances are concerned, young Beethoven looked much like his grandfather.

Perhaps I shall get better, perhaps not; I am ready.
1819 is the year in which his hearing was thoroughly depleted. He could no longer
play the piano virtuously and had to communicate by text. As a result, he spent a
majority of his time composing. Beethoven would sketch out his compositions in a
book. These books have been maintained and it is evident that he would work on
several pieces at once. During this time, his compositions ranged from simple
melodies to more elaborate and edited works. In 1804 Beethoven completed his
Third Symphony. This piece was originally a tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, but
when Beethoven found that Napoleon was proclaimed an emperor he deleted the
dedication. At this point in his life, Beethoven seriously considered marriage. His
first love was for a woman named Giulietta Guicciardi. When this relationship
eventually broke, he sought the hand of Giulietta s cousin, Josephine. The bond
between them broke and the engagement was ended. Beethoven s final attempt
with a woman was with his doctor s daughter, Therese Malfatti. As is expected, this
relationship also failed and Beethoven reached the final part of his life as a
bachelor. The rate and quality of his compositions slowed and he became more and
more isolated. Another depressing and negative event in Beethoven s life took place
in 1815. His brother died. Caspar Anton Carl left behind a son and a widow and

The Importance Of Classical Literature
Classical Literature A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to
say. Italo Calvino
Why should people read classical literature? Classics are relevant to today s time
because they teach us the value, they help us understand history and culture, you can
read and re read them, and they help us understand how we got our literature today.
Classics are also entertaining and will continue to be read throughout generations.
We should read classical literature because classical literature has value. The value
is important to our culture because it shows how we got to our literature today and
shows how far we have come. The story Orpheus and Eurydice is a good example
of value and morality because Orpheus tries to get his wife back and fails. The
Fates tell Orpheus not to look back at her until they are back home. Orpheus
looked back at Eurydice and when he looked back at her he lost her for good. This
story is a good example of value because it teaches us value and how we should
appreciate what we have and appreciate the second chances we get in life. The
history and culture behind classical literature is our history because it helped us get
to where we are now and shows how we wrote and told our stories. The history in
classical literature can be true or sometimes true. With myths, some of the stories
have some truth in them or the story really happened but if that is the case, most of
the time the storyteller makes assumptions about the event. In the
The Evolution Of The Presidential Debates
The presidential debates have changed throughout the years. From my perspective
debates do matter because the candidates debate to get chosen to change the United
States into a better place. Appearance shouldn t matter but what you say and how you
act should. If there were no debate there might wouldnt be a president nor voter.
The candidates debate to change the United States. This year s debaters
(Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton) are more concerned and after each other than
the US. Both candidate Hillary and Trump can be great presidents if only they would
stop trying to make the US into their own world. What the two candidates say could
affect them winning the election so they should think before the speak. Debaters
should speak from
Online Dating And Its Impact On The World
With the advancement of the Internet, we have seen many changes in the dating
world. Hundreds of applications and websites have been created in order to connect
people locally and internationally. Among these websites and applications are online
dating tools. Online dating began in 1995 when Match.com was created, and has
grown significantly since. Millennials (the generation born between the 1980 s and
the mid 2000 s) were born into the digital revolution. Growing up, we were more
likely to text to ask for a date, rather than in person, or even over the phone. Now that
most Millennials are teenagers or older, datingapps have become the new norm. With
apps like OkCupid, Tinder, Grindr, and more, traditional dating values have gone out
the door to make room for online dating. The thing our parents knew as courting,
rarely exists within the Millennial generation. So, with all these knew dating tools,
the question becomes: Has online dating actually affected how Millennials date?
Literary Review In our research about online dating and the effect it has had on
how Millennials date, we found that there were some common ideas among
writers. Because our topic is relatively new, finding actual journals or research
studies were hard. We decided to focus mostly on articles written for big name
websites like Forbes and Time. The first things we decided to look at were the
statistics of online dating. Online dating began in 1995 when Match.com was created.

Sonnet 130 Juxtaposition
The passage of time is responsible for many paradigm shifts, and most apparent is the
one affecting the perception of beauty. Today, beauty is not solely the exterior, but
rather a nexus of internal characteristics. This is not a new concept, as William
Shakespeare hints in his Sonnet 130. In the sonnet, Shakespeare uses contrast and
volta to craft satire that ridicules society s obsession with physical beauty, adequately
demonstrating the necessity of disassociating feminine value with external beauty.
Shakespeare uses heavy juxtaposition to illustrate his mistress at face value, a feature
that went against the traditional love poem. He begins by a series of comparisons,
contrasting his mistress with the natural beauty of nature. He notes ... Show more

This contrast to nature allows Shakespeare to mock the unrealistic hyperboles used
by conventional poems of the time, an epitomical example being Astrophel and
Stella by Philip Sidney. In Sidney s work, the love subject is described as having a
face that is prepar d by Natures chiefest furniture and built of Alabaster pure .
Although such comparisons to nature were already clichГ© and most of all,
unrealistic, they were nevertheless used heavily. Shakespeare s use of contrast allows
him to mock the lofty comparisons of other love poets. By directly mirroring the
structural and definitive elements of its counterparts, Sonnet 130 criticizes the nature
of conventional love poetry and its hackneyed focus on external beauty. The volta at
the rhyming couplet allows Shakespeare to highlight his perspective that true love
does not need beauty to be satisfied. After the laundry list of unflattering remarks
towards his mistress, Shakespeare confesses that he preciously views his love as
rare // As any she belied with false compare (13 14). This suggests that despite her
imperfections, Shakespeare s unconditional love for her remains unscathed, and that
his account of her physical appearance contains no false or

This book begins at the time of Eddie s death. He died trying to save a little girl
from an amusement park accident. He realizes that he has a lot of unresolved
issues in his life, but that will all change once he meets his five people. When he
dies, he meets his first person. The first person is one who worked as a circus freak
at the park. He tells Eddie about how he died because of him. He taught Eddie that
everyone is connected even if they don t know the person. Eddie meets the second
person, who was a captain in WWII, who shot him in the leg to save him from
burning in a fire, but gave him a limp for the rest of his life. He teaches Eddie that
sacrifice is important to living a good life. Eddie then meets his abusive father, the

Analysis Of Dead Man Walking, Through Sister Helen
Prejean
Ever since the start of the death penalty there have been opposing views and
arguments about the humanity of it versus the justice that needs to be served. In
more modern times questions have arisen regarding the cost of being on death row
and whether or not capital punishment actually deters crime, yet the questions
concerning the deliverance of justice, the humanity of the prolonging isolation, and
agony of knowing the execution date have always remained. These three issues are
captured unbiasedly through a nun, who is the spiritual advisor for a man on death
row, awaiting his upcoming execution. In the movie Dead Man Walking, through
Sister Helen Prejean, the director Tim Robbins counters the humanity of the death
penalty with the help of a collection of authors, to utilize the trials and tribulations of
Matthew Poncelet in an attempt to sway the audience to the belief that no matter the
cost, death does not deter crime.
Since the year 1976 there have been a total of 1,433 executions in the United States,
most of them being carried out in the South. In the early 1600s in America the death
penalty was in place to deter crime and act as the most severe punishment possible for
atrocious crimes, such as murder or treason. Capital punishment is still in use today
as a way of counteracting violent crimes as well as providing the families of the
victims with justice. However there was once a moment in America s history that
could have ended the usage of the death penalty.
High School Guidance Counselor Personal Statement
As a college student, I never realize that business ethics played such a major role in
most college degrees and majors until I started taking my Intro to business class. I
am enrolled at Trident Tech to receive my Associates degree in Science, then transfer
to a four year university. At the four year university, my goal is to receive my degree
in psychology to become a high school guidance counselor. Psychology is the study
of the human mind, how the mind functions, and observing human behavior. The
reason I decided to major in psychology is to be able to further my knowledge
about the human mind and body. A psychology degree with help me get to my
main goal which is to become a high school guidance counselor. A guidance
counselor is someone who provides help for students who may be struggling in
school with academics or having a hard time fitting in. They also assist in helping
students to choose a preferred career path and applying to different colleges. My
senior year of high school I had the opportunity to have student volunteer as one of
my classes, so I decided to student volunteer for my guidance counselor Ms. Knight.
She is such an amazing woman and always encouraged me to reach my goals and
continues on the right path. As a guidance counselor, she was always there to mentor
me and others when we need it. Guidance counselors have many task and
responsibility s that must be met in order for their students to get the guidance they
need. Some of the task may consist of
Eugenides The Virgin Symbolism
Through the use of symbolism, Eugenides plays on traditional gender roles and
discusses the budding sexuality of the girls, as well as the downfall of the Lisbon
family with the repression of the sisters sexuality. The most prominent symbols are
the laminated picture of the Virgin Mary, Cecelia s diary, and the house the Lisbon
family lives in. In the eyes of the boys, watching them from across the street, these
objects all act as signs of the girls femininity and sexuality, which they are developing
as they break into adolescence and young adulthood. The laminated photo of the
Virgin Marysymbolizes the Lisbon sisters issue with the oppression of their sexuality.

Before Cecelia s attempted and actual suicide, the Lisbon family was considered to
be quite normal. In the beginning of the novel, as the paramedics arrive to take
away the last living sister, it is said that the house was tame and immaculate
thirteen months earlier when the trouble began (Eugenides 1). Before the start of
events retold in the novel, the Lisbon family kept their house nice and clean,
undoubtedly like everyone else in their suburban neighborhood. Cecelia s death is
what begins the decay of the house, but it is really set in motion with the
imprisonment of the girls, when the soft decay of the house began to show up
more clearly. We noticed how tattered the curtains had become, then realized we
weren t looking at curtains at all but at a film of dirt (Eugenides 155). The
deplorable condition of the house becomes clear to the narrators as the girls are
imprisoned in their own home. When Lux comes home late from homecoming after
sleeping with her boyfriend, Trip, they are pulled from school and walled up in their
own home. The girls are locked up as a result of their own budding sexualities. Their
parents panic with the realization that the girls are growing up and become women,
and imprison their daughters in an attempt to smother the fire they see catching. The

The Great City Of New York
Glamour and Riches
Since the introduction of films and theatres the great city of New York has often
been depicted as an idyllic place to live, where people go to make their dreams
come true. One movie in particular enthral us in its representation of New York
City, Breakfast at Tiffany s based on Truman Capote s novella brings the
glamourous atmosphere of the high society to our door step. Produced in 1961, it
also opens a window to the mores of the time. This movie made New York Citythe
place to be to get rich and live free. It acts as an icon for the American Dream, a City
of hope.
As the film opens on a scene of Holyday Golightly, actress Audrey Hepburn, still
wearing an evening gown getting out of a taxi and gazing at the displays of the
Tiffany s store on Fifth Avenue, the spectator can already feel the richness of New
York. Breakfast at Tiffany s describes New York as a grand place full of light and
richness; nowhere in the movie do we see a person struggling to survive.
Moreover, even though Holy is utterly unable to manage her money, the City itself
seems to provide for her whenever she is in need. A new opportunity to enrich her
always seems to appear out of nowhere. Consequently, New York appears as a
benefactor bestowing its greatness to the citizens, opportunities and chances to
make it big await at every corner. Holy s dream is to someday have breakfast at
Tiffany s, which symbolise her quest for riches as well as her foolish character since

School Board Is Not Fair Essay
Imagine a city where authorities make all the decisions, without the citizen s consent?
Would you consider living in that city? No, not really. Now, imagine that with
schools boards and students. School boards shouldn t pick students schedules
because the school board need to be fair, the students are responsible for their own
schedules, and the students will have mix responses.
The school board needs to be fair, even though they decided the outcome. This means
that the school board should not be acting like dictators, when it comes to the school
based arrangements. It isn t fair that what a school board decides on actually hurts the
student s education. Especially when, they turn a blind eye towards the students,
because they don t want to accept the idea that what they present aren t always going
to work. Also, in order for them to really get confirmation that their new ruling is
working, the school board should really ask the students on what they think about this
new change. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The students will have to live with their own schedules for a whole year. Being in
classes that you don t like, will harm your learning experience. School board members
would love to think of themselves as people whom know it all. They love the
comforting idea that they know their students better than the students themselves.
The school board doesn t know on what every, single, student in that class likes or
dislikes. A statistic showing that one student is bad at math and good in english does
not show on what that student actually likes. What if that student actually loves math,
but it just too dumb to understand it? Exactly. Just because the school board spends
8+ hours with the students, that does not mean they know the students in and out.
Equally important, the parents pay for their children s tuition. Guess who pays the
school board and everyone else in authority? The parents. So, by that way, the parents
should at least have a
Badger Descriptive
Standing outside of 610 Main St, I was reluctant to head inside. The tannish brown
brick building stood four stories. Its rectangular frame was plain in design; riddled
with standard rectangular windows, you would expect to see in a building from
the early nineteen hundreds. Street side there was a set of standard aluminum
framed glass doors with a brown plaque above them. The brown rectangular plaque
was pressed, allowing for its brass material to protrude out, giving it a three inch
border. Mimicking the border in design, the name Badger was centered on the
plaque. If I hadn t seen the twelve by twelve sign that had Image Management s

Analysis of Susan Orlean s The Orchid Thief
THE ORCHID THIEF The Seminoles The Seminole Indians are a tribe of Native
Americans who are based in Florida but have moved across further and also settled
themselves in neighboring Oklahoma. Historically, the Seminole Indians have been
successful traders, which are evidenced from their vast trading networks during the
periods of Spanish and British colonization of the region. This explains their
adeptness at facilitating the trade of rare orchid flowers from Florida to markets in
other parts of the country and in the European countries. As a result of the Seminole
Wars fought during 1818 1858, large numbers of Seminole Indians were displaced
from their native Florida (Cattelino 22). Those that remained behind became
staunchly protective of their identity, history, heritage and customs. This aspect of
the Seminole Indians is also widely explored in the book: В¦the Seminoles had their
burning dedication to their history and culture В¦ (Orlean 40) In The Orchid Thief,
the Seminole Indians are found to be collaborating with Laroche to smuggle the rare
orchid flowers out of Florida. This may be indicative of their absolute passion for the
flowers and disregard for the federal government. It also explains the economic
conditions of the Seminole Indians that might have motivated them to take part in
this extraordinary plan. This along with the fact that the Seminole Indians are
extremely proud of their history and their land seems to point to a contradiction in

The Picture Of Dorian Gray And Dr. Faustus By

Aja Naomi King once said, There are people who do what they believe is right, but
as they say, The road to hell is paved with good intentions. In The Tempest by
William Shakespeare, The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde, and Dr.
Faustus by Christopher Marlowe, intentions blind each of the main characters into
carrying out malicious actions. Dr. Faustus and Dorian Gray are both overcome
by their intentions and cannot redeem themselves even in desperate attempts to
repent. On the other hand, Prospero manages to suppress the urge to harm his
enemies. The progression of these characters shows that when individuals become
too engrossed in their selfish or malicious desires, they eventually lose control of
themselves unless first coming to terms with their mortality. Individuals who
obsess over the way they are perceived by others lose the fundamentals of their
character. Dorian Gray s temporal desires and corruption by Lord Henry and the
yellow book draw him towards evil until it consumes his soul. After
acknowledging the beauty of Basil s portrait, Dorian becomes obsessed with youth
and beauty, saying, How sad it is! I shall grow old, and horrible, and dreadful. But
this picture will remain always young [...] If it were only the other way! If it were
I who was to be always young, and the picture that was to grow old [...] I would
give my soul for that! (Wilde 19). Dorian becomes so consumed in transient desires
because he cannot face his own mortality; he only wishes to

realistic in its approach. It takes decision according to whichever way suits best for

third worldism.
Showing utmost political maturity, India shoved aside decades of sloth and signed
major agreement with China a country earlier thought of as a backstabber and talk
with it was a big no. Our country has now refused to be trapped hopelessly in the

the changing needs so as to be in consonance with the ever changing time. Talks with
Pakistan, restoration of the Muzaffarabad bus service, the historic exchange of

flourishing of India is its successful and smooth functioning of democracy. Right from
its start, it allowed Universal Adult Franchise, a unique achievement in itself. Many

make public transport unattractive for customers and increase operational costs, so
congestion impacts on public transport must be eliminated whenever possible.

Daniel Chapter 3 Hebrew Men Analysis
In this essay I will be writing about The Three Hebrew Men. This story comes from
the book of Daniel chapter 3. It is about three men whose names were: Shadrach,
Meshach, and Abednego.
The bible makes us to understand that the king of the Babylon empire at that time
was king Nebuchadnezzar. The story starts off when Nebuchadnezzar built a
statute of Gold. Then he invited important people from all over the land to come
and see the statute that he built. Daniel chapter 3 verse 4 5 says: Then a herald
cried aloud: To you it is commanded, O peoples, nations, and languages, that at the

Identifying Understanding Communication Styles
Identifying Understanding Communication Styles
As a training professional, you need to be able to differentiate effective and
ineffective communication styles, and understand that their style of communication
may often conflict with the way messages are interpreted. By understanding different
communication styles, we can help our students begin to understand how to separate
the message from the communication style of the person with whom they are
communicating and to appropriately respond to the content of the message.
Examples would be a supervisor saying to a subordinate in loud and angry tone of
voice ...can t you do anything right? (aggressive style) or a shop clerk rolling her
eyes back as she tells the customer rummaging through her purse take your time, I m
not busy at all (passive aggressive style).
Our communication skills are developed based upon our education, attitudes, and
preconceived notions. The good news is that communication styles can be changed
with effort and the right attitude.
No matter your style, effective communication always includes positive feedback.
Constructive comments help those you are speaking with to feel good about
themselves, to feel more comfortable and confident trying new things, to grow, to be
heard and to be taken seriously. Critical and judgmental comments will inhibit growth
and learning. For example:

Identity in Sir Thomas Malory’s Le Morte
d’Arthur Essay
Identity in Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte d Arthur
It can be difficult to define the unifying themes of Sir Thomas Malory s Le Morte
d Arthur ; it can seem a tangle of random adventures mired with magic and religion,
love and fate. What is the purpose behind all the seemingly similar adventures of so
many similar knights? And what is the place that the books of Sir Trystram hold?
These books make up the longest section of the work, yet Trystram plays no role in
the search for the Holy Grail or the downfall of Arthur. There are many parallels
drawn between Trystram and Launcelot: they are both the greatest knights of their
time, both the greatest lovers, both become mad for a short time, etc. What
distinguishes Trystram from Launcelot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Sir Froll episode begins when Sir Lamerok sees four knights fighting against
one and he determines to rescue the sole knight (Malory, 337 341). The end is when
Sir Bellyaunce, Sir Froll s brother, reconciles with Lamerok after they fight to
exhaustion. Mann, looking at this episode solely in terms of distance and wholeness
(leaving a fellowship to follow a quest creates distance and the formality of
identifying oneself creates wholeness by uniting the two jousting knights), finds that
the meaning of the episode becomes confused:
Yet if Bellyaunce s revelation discloses their linkage as a chronological sequence,
it also disrupts their coherence at the level of meaning: the knight whom Lamorak
had so recently been at pains to rescue from death is the very same one that he
himself turns out to have killed for no very compelling reason as it seems to us a
few days later. Lamorak s second tangential entry into a sequence of events negates
the effect of his first; the pattern created by his adventures, when revealed, proves to
be one with which he cannot identify himself in terms of motive or consistency with
his own past actions (5).
However, if one looks at the Sir Froll episode as conflicts and resolutions of
complicated identities, then there is consistency of meaning and the episodes
Summer Camp Personal Statement
During the summer of 2016, I was a volunteer at the Ridge Meadows Child
Development Centre s Therapeutic Summer Camp. My experience at the camp was a
memorable one, since I met a young boy with ADHD. Though it was difficult to get
his attention, his condition made me more aware and got me to communicate in a
more innovate way. By talking about a common interest of ours, the sport of soccer, I
was not telling him instructions or asking him for his attention, but instead giving
him mine. Besides my volunteering at the summer camp, I have been a part of many
activities, such as the VolunTEEN program and the Ridge Meadows Homeshow, all
throughout high school and the experiences have shaped who I am today.
Currently in my third year, I am volunteering at my local hospital and residential
home, Baillie House, through the VolunTEEN program as Team Leader. Being a
part of the program has opened me to a new perspective on health. I have learned to
socially adapt and build strong bonds, as well as initiate ways to help others.
Furthermore, hearing residents tell their stories or taking patients outside for a casual
walk allowed me to broaden my understanding and open up as an individual. On ...

United States And Brown V Board Of Education
Established in 1909 as an attempt to combat the racial hatred and discrimination
that plagued the era the NAACP emerged. By supporting such cases such as Moore
V Dempsey, Guinn V United States and Brown v Board Of Education, the group s
influence in both modern day and past civil rights movements is irrefutable. With
this in mind this group has also had its pitfalls and has not always, still to this day,
have the support of the entire black community for varying reasons. Marcus
Garvey was a major activist voice that vehemently disagreed with the goals and
tactics of the NAACP. The NAACP goal was to essentially fix all of the issues that
followed the emancipation of African Americans. In order to ensure this equality the
group sought to dismantle blatantly anti black laws and practices. One of the first
major court cases occurred in 1915 with Guinn v. United States. This court case
challenged the blatantly racist and discriminatory grandfather clause exemptions to
required literacy tests within Maryland, Oklahoma and many other states. These
tests held the illusion that voters had fair and equal treatment. However, because of
the grandfather clause the test s true nature was forced into the light. The clause
stated that if a voter s grandfather had been eligible to vote prior to January 1st,
1866, were soldiers or a resident of a foreign nation then the voter would not have to
take the literacy test. This of course favoured white voters since a black voter s

Wicked Book Report
Pre Reading Wicked, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz I never really liked The
Wonderful Wizard of Oz. The lion, scarecrow, and tin man were all characters that
kind of freaked me. I think this had to do with their costumes, the lions faces
creeped me out. As of Wicked I now there is a musical, which I have not seen.
Overall, I am kind of excited to read the book. While Reading Wicked So the book
starts out with a prologue of the witch spying on the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man,
and Dorothy. As the story continues, Elphaba who was born with green skin grew
up living a rough childhood. Elphaba green skin made her stick out and be an

her sister Nessarose. During these years Elphaba meet Galinda who is very
beautiful, at first the two didn t like each there, but slowly their friendship grew.

Analysis Of Mile Davis The Birth Of Cool Jazz
The development of cool jazz in the late 1950s defines the culmination of the style
into popular mainstream culture. Mile Davis The Birth of Cool defines a
masterpiece that projected an image of an African American cool cat that played a
refined, mellow, and sophisticated style of jazz. Davis would become a central figure
in the cool jazzmovement due to his rebellious attitudes towards society, as well as
the drug related criminal culture that he exuded as a countercultural figure in
conservative white America. The Birth of the Cool provided a major record release,
which was founded on minimalist instrumentation and selective note playing as a
common theme of cool jazz stylistics during the late 1950s. In contrast to Bebop,

The etymology of cool typically defined a hip person in African American that
displayed a relaxed or nonchalant countenance. The use of this word in Chisholm
s Cool Kind Daddy Blues and Huston s The Gilded Six Bits illustrates a
popularized way to express an individual with a cool demeanor in the arts. This
type of cultural label helped to establish cool jazz as an expression of this African
American lifestyle in the jazz community. The deviant nature of the jazz lifestyle
is another major part of the Cool jazz , which made it cool to be seen as a
rebellious in terms of criminal behavior and drug usage. The cool trend in the early
1950s began with album releases, such as Classics in Jazz: Cool and Quiet in
1953, which established a music industry standard for mellow jazz in the cool
school. Stan Kenton s Modern Music Orchestra was also a major influence on cool
jazz , which revealed the racial diversity of jazz in white groups that expanded on
African American influences. Jazz artists, such as Chet Baker and Gerry Mulligan,
that complimented the master works of Mile Davis and the Modern Jazz Quartet in
this multi racial and multicultural development of cool jazz as a trend in American
music. The and of the 1950s defined the end of cool jazz as a dominant movement in

playing that made a huge impact on jazz
The Purpose Of Child Curfew Laws
A long time ago the area now known as our home, the United States of America, got
discovered. This unearthing of new ground eventually brought about hope for many
individuals seeking a new and diverse life. By the mid to late 1800s America attracted
many Europeans. These immigrants strived for an opportunity to make a living with
great possibilities, and without negative government interference. Anyone would
consider it an understatement to claim that America, during this time, contained great
hope for the future of its inhabitance. After all, America s founding purpose comes
from one key element in general, freedom.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are many opposing views on the basis of child curfew laws.
The main purpose of the curfew ordinance strives to reduce adolescent crime. This
idea generates positive ideas in thought and theory; but the problem continues to
remain. Child curfews do not seem to lower this crime rate. Research in the United
States revealed no link between areas with child curfew and their crime rate. The
majority of child crime happens from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., which has no foreseeable
relationship with a child curfew. The areas that see the most improvement are areas
with zero tolerance policing and other similar strategies.
The 14th Amendment of the United States says that no state shall make or enforce
any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United
States; this should apply to local government also. Cites and towns should not have
the authority to take away privileges of citizens solely based in fear of
unforeseeable crimes. They are taking away a right of all citizens for crimes that
have not even been committed yet. Crime prevention attracts a lot of good ideas, but
punishing innocent kids with a curfew in exchange for theorized crime prevention
just sounds ironically juvenile. A friend of mine and his experience will help plead
this case.

Passion Is Overrated Research Paper
Passion is Overrated??
Passion is defined as a strong and barely controllable emotion. Every person, one
way or another, has a passion and it is what drives our society to be better, to
advance. Each person finds their passion at different points of their life, but a
majority of those people find one while they attend college. Passion in one s life
could lead to a slew of achievements. When people find a passion, it leads to them
making it big, in their own way; passion pushes our society to the brink, but a man
with no passion cannot last.
When a person finds a passion, something that they cannot live without, that is when
they make it big, their passion allows them to succeed in life. Bishop T.D. Jakes,

A lifestyle where someone has everything they wished to have. A passion doesn t just
help ourselves, but our society as a whole.
Passion leads our society to the brink, but not in a bad way. Passions lead our society
to the brink of discovery and creativity. When someone finds something they love
and is passionate about they work hard at it to grow and create something beautiful.
Taking a look at Jackson

new form of art, he discovered something that he loved and it created this movement
of a new era of art.
This Painting to the left easily shows the passion he had for his work. He slaved over
his art. He worked passionately over his work, making each one a masterpiece of its

Transcendentalism In The Scarlet Letter
The scarlet letter was written in 1850 by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The book is set in
the 17th century in a Puritan society. The Puritans were to all believe the same thing
and essentially be the same, but a young woman named Hester Prynne commits a sin
and she immediately becomes an outcast. The idea of Hester being a
transcendentalist comes up in the book due to her being different from everyone else
in society. Some people think that Hester is a forced transcendentalist because she
has no choice of wearing the scarlet letterand she chooses to stay in the Puritan town.
On the other hand, people say that Hester is a perfect example of a transcendentalist.
During the time of the strict Puritan society Hester Prynnedevelops confidence, learns
how to make her own decisions, and breaks out of the status quo, making herself a
symbol of transcendentalism.
Throughout the novel Hester Prynne develops confidence. Hester s punishment
was to wear a scarlet A for the rest of her life and she had to stand on the scaffold in
front of everyone for three hours. And stepped into the open air, as if by her own
free will. Hester Prynne gets pushed out of the prison door but she makes it seems as

Schubert s Ave Maria! was not written with religious practices or the Catholic Church

College basketball markets their teams after their best players, when those players
decide to go pro early, the promotion of college basketball is hurt; along with the
overall talent level of the league is lowered drastically. Games become less
interesting because the players are not as talented. This in turn hurts the television
networks because people do not like watching games in which they do not know who
the players are.
And then, that in turn hurts the league and the schools again because the networks
will not pay as much to televise the games as they once did.
The schools and the league are not the only ones hurt, by leaving school early
hoping to make the big bucks the players hurt themselves. In the world that we live
in today, if you do not have a college degree, opportunities are limited. Look at the
statistics, 60 players are drafted each year, and there are only 360 roster spots in
the entire NBA. The chances that each player drafted will make the team is almost
an impossibility. Some people go back to school and try to finish their degrees, but
most do not because once you give up your eligibility, you cannot get it back, with
means most of them cannot afford to go back to school. This leaves a lot of people

Analysis On Key Value Stores Essay
Analysis on Key Value Stores
Introduction
We have come into the era of Big Data. As (Atikoglu, Xu, Frachtenberg, Jiang,
Paleczny, 2012) stated, the need for efficiently storing large scale data in scale out
companies at lower cost is dramatically increasing. Therefore Key Value Store has
occurred in popularity. (Fitzpatrick, 2004) has clarified that KV stores plays an
essential role in lots of huge websites such as Facebook, Twitter, GitHub and
Amazon. This paper reviewed 6 popular key value stores and distinguished primary
features, performance and availability of each. The six systems are Hyperdex,
Dynamo, SILT, Project Voldemort used by LinkedIn, Berkeley DB and LevelDB
used by Google.
A key value store database has a set of keys and values, and each value is associated
with a key. The implementation of key value store database is actually a distributed
hash table (Stonebraker, 04/2010). Key Value Stores(KV), which are normally
known as a model of NoSQL databases, are widely deployed for data operation and
management in purpose of enhancing Internet services due to better scalability,
higher efficiency and more availability than existing relational databases systems
(Wang, et al., 2014). Because KV stores sacrifice relation model in exchange for fast
writing, and they are often featured with simple methods like put() , delete() and get()
.
LevelDB
LevelDB is a very lightweight, simple key value store with limited operational
abilities. LevelDB will store data in

Negative Effects Of Mental Health On College Students
Although mental health has become a big issue across the U.S., it is especially
becoming a problem in college. Suicide has become the normal, even though it s
unheard of primarily because of the stigma. Don t believe me? Are you willing to
tell me that stress is normal and to have thoughts of taking your own life while trying
to juggle the responsibilities of being an adult is normal? Before you jump to any
conclusions, let s take a look at my argument. Mental health has a negative effect on
college students.
What is mental health? Mental health is a person s condition with regard to their
psychological and emotional well being. It affects how we act and feel, while all
the more dictating how we control our stress, relate to others, and how we make
choices (ASPA). Mental health illnesses can range from depression, anxiety, eating
disorders, college addiction abuse, bipolar disorder, ADHD, and sleep issues, just
to name a few. To explain why mental health is important, I will provide an
example of poor mental health. A quote from NBC News writes, But then I would
have extreme downs and want to do nothing, she told NBC News. All I wanted to do
was sleep. I screwed up in school and at work, I was crying and feeling suicidal

hectic life.
I will now go on and talk about and how they can affect students. The most common
mental health illnesses that students can suffer from are suicide and
Essay about Gattaca and Jurassic Park
The films Gattaca, directed by Andrew Niccol in 1997, and Jurassic Park, directed
by Stephen Spielberg in 1993 seem like two films that have no connection. Gattaca
is a film about a man, Vincent Freeman, overcoming his genetic disadvantage to
become an astronaut. Jurassic Park on the other hand is a film about bringing
dinosaurs back to life, while also causing massive chaos. However, despite these
major differences in plot, both films are based on a similar idea, genetic engineering.

clear of any genetic diseases the parents may have. However, as time has progressed,
the technology has caused rifts in society, outlasting those who were not born by
genetic engineering. Genetic superiority is the deciding factor in society. Those with
superior genetic information get the best positions in life, while those with poor
genetic information become outcasts. Therefore despite having positive intentions,
the technology actually has a negative effect on society. While genetic engineering of
human DNA has never been tried, the process is actually well defined. Today s
society actually genetically engineers many things, including corn, bananas and
other crops. These are known at GMO s or genetically Modified Organisms. GMO

far from being able to. The main reason preventing such a technology is ethics.
Superheroes In Fantastic Four
In Stan Lee and Jack Kirby s Fantastic Four issue one, the comic emphasizes the
significance of working together in a team, regardless of whatever personal
differences or opinions the members may have. They highlight the importance of
uniting together to achieve a common goal and being reliable within the team. These
moral characteristics were ranked highly among the children, with a significant

A standard hero embodies what we believe is best in ourselves. A hero is a
standard to aspire to as well as an individual to be admired (Miczo 4). The displays
of these superheroes emerged as the characters underwent certain transformations,
experiences of growth in empathy, and turned towards the good. They uphold and
maintain the public sphere as they operate in complete freedom and for the benefit
of others. In later parts of the Spider Man series, Peter readiness to forgive and not
be bound by his past mistakes but be conditioned by it are what the Fantastic Four
also did in their first issue. They ensure a connection between their identities and
facilitate the development in the community, often adding to it and learning from
it. They provide memorable messages and have a significant influence on behavior
(Miczo 91 92, 94). It is also good to note that Spider Man s origin differs from the
Fantastic Four as it was only through the death of someone Peter cared for that
becomes the catalyst needed for his transformation to set himself on the right path
of a hero. His origin and trauma towards the guilt of the death of his uncle by the
hands of a criminal he could have stopped (seen and revealed on also page 8 and 11
of Amazing Fantasy ) at the time later conditioned him to be a responsible person
(Miczo100 101). Therefore, these character traits illustrated by these superhero
characters such as the Fantastic Four and Spider Man only adds to the positive
development of children as it nurtures and encourages the heroic narratives of justice
and the benefits of
Senior Care
Paying for Senior Care An Overview Guide
When one advances in age and can no longer run their daily life in their own home
or with family members, they need care. Many people look to an apartment in an
assisted living establishment, where there are aides who help with care giving
throughout the day (and night, if need be). Regardless of the specifics, care is not
cheap, period. this is especially so for eldercare. The type of care and one s
geographic location within the US dictates the cost of senior care you will meet. At
this moment, perhaps the urgent concern is this: How will I fund this living?
People s circumstances are diverse and paying for senior care has no one size fits all .
Moreover, gone are the days when the State took ... Show more content on

The latter is a state and federal assistance program, which avails health coverage
specifically for those with very low income. For that reason, it is grouped under
government programs, and can help pay for senior care costs.
For veteran families, the Aid and Attendance benefit is exceptionally helpful
however, there are strict qualifying requirements as regards income, assets, need and
service. Some veterans qualify for full benefits, while others for a fraction. The
benefit would cater for both home care and assisted living or nursing home expenses.
Qualified veterans spouses can also obtain this benefit, except they will qualify for
less money than the actual

Industry Background
Coffee culture is thriving in Hong Kong with big business opportunities, In 2006, a
total of about 5 018 tonnes of imported coffee beans and coffee powder, and 2 196
tonnes of imported coffee products (e.g. instant coffee) were consumed in Hong
Kong.
More than one sixth (17%) of the consumed imported coffee beans and coffee
powder came from Indonesia, while the remaining was mainly imported from
Columbia, the mainland of China (the Mainland) and the USA. Over 40% (41%) of
the coffee products came from the Mainland.
In the past 16 years, the local consumption of imported coffee beans, coffee powder
and coffee products has been increasing steadily, from 2 537 tonnes in 1991 to 7 214
tonnes in 2006. The average annual growth rate was 7.2% according to the Hong
Kong Census and statistics Department.
Although people in Hong Kong traditionally prefer tea, the launch of large coffee
chains has created an established coffee culture in the city, many consumers adopt
coffee drinking to hang out with friends and not for the actual coffee itself.
Furthermore, asians are much more accepting and tolerant of big companies,
supporting their investment dollars and job creation, and don t have the almost
automatic negative reaction to big business that
Hbx Collaborative Learning Culture
I would love to contribute my analytical mind, international experience, and lateral
thinking to the HBX collaborative learning culture.
An analytical mind is essential to strategy and innovation because only a detailed
understanding of the underlying problem enables the discovery of a novel approach
to solving the actual cause rather than just the problem. Throughout my extensive
training in computer science, I developed comprehensive analytical abilities such as
conceptual problem decomposition, root cause analysis, and solution inference. I love
to contribute my analytical skills to the collaborative learning culture just as much as
my international experience.
International experience, as I believe, comes down to appreciate and respect
Age Discrimination And The Level Of Condemnation
According to social affairs of humans and humans, discrimination is described as the
treatment or consideration of someone or a group of people in favor or against them
based on the class, group or category that a person/group is assumed to be based from
rather than the individuals traits (Becker, 2010). Discriminationincludes restricting
people of a certain group from various opportunities and privileges that are readily
available to other people, thus leading to exclusion of individuals based on the
irrational making of decisions. Such discriminatory practices exist in most parts of
the world and should be condemned with the utmost level of condemnation. Various
types of discrimination have been witnessed: Age discrimination, Religious

admiration, and many more topics related to love. So far, she has released two
albums, 19 and 21 that showcases her many famous songs such as, Someone Like
You and Hello . One of the most popular that is showcased is Rolling in the Deep in
which she released on November 29th, 2016. Different from Adele s genre of music

that has a sound that is described as pop punk or emo. The band released six albums

Correspondingly stating individual differences by applying idioms in the text,
Adele s song shows a new sense of confidence along with the aforementioned pain
while contrastingly Motion City Soundtrack s song reveals a tone that is longing.
The lyrics in Rolling in the Deep say, See how I leave with every piece of you. Don
t underestimate the things that I will do. The speaker is shows to be unaffected by
the relationship and he/she is trying to show the past lover how easily he/she can
walk away from the relationship. The idiom reveals as somewhat of a retribution
and gives off a tone that is apathetic. With this tone, it gives off a newfound feeling
of confidence the speaker has gained for the speaker is showing that he/she could
do better without his/her past lover. The figurative language not only helps explain
the major difference from the longing My Favorite Accident expresses but it also
helps to add on to the theme that relationships do not always work out and that
could be for better or for worse. In contrast, My Favorite Accident states, I can t
swim in the silence of your skin skin please let me in. The idiom indicates the
speaker and the lover may not speak any longer and the speaker is desperate to speak
to his/her lover again. As mentioned before, the text reveals a tone that is longing.
With the desperation that is indicated
The Take Over Of The Children
The Take Over of the Children
Are you a literary festival virgin? Are you clueless about what to wear and expect?
Have no fear, I am here to help. I too was a lit fest virgin until recently when I
unexpectedly embarked upon something that has made me look at literature
differently.
I m a student at Newman University in Birmingham and honestly, when I heard the
words literary festival my heart sank to somewhere not appropriate to mention (it
begins with b and ends in um ). I panicked before the events, on my first event, I
didn t know what to wear. Did I go classy and middle class or put on my best Miss
Moneypenny glasses and borrow my Nan s cardigan? Really, I was so flustered
trying to get into Birmingham city centre (which took an hour) that when I arrived
my jacket was screwed up in my bag and my hair was mostly in my mouth. So
instead I just went with big fluffy comfort clothes and my paper and pen. Turns out,
that you can wear what you like. So that is exactly what I did for the rest of my time.
The Cardigan Brigade
When I think of literary festivals and the kinds of people they attract my mind
automatically thinks of the cardigan brigade , middle class men and women fawning
over books while sipping wine and talking about the deep workings of the books sub
plot and other bullshit.
When I got there, my ideas of festival goers were completely blown out of the water.
Since it was my first time at a festival, I went all in and bought a festival pass so that
I could

Communications Essay Writing an essay on the topic of communication may seem like a straightforward task at first glance, but delving into the intricacies of this vast subject can quickly unveil its complexities. The challenge lies not only in presenting a coherent and well-structured piece but also in capturing the multifaceted nature of communication itself. To start with, communication is a broad field that encompasses various aspects such as verbal and non-verbal communication, interpersonal dynamics, cultural influences, and the ever- evolving landscape of digital communication. Crafting an essay that comprehensively covers these diverse elements requires meticulous research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of the subject matter. Moreover, effective communication is not just about conveying information; it involves understanding the audience, adapting to different contexts, and addressing potential barriers. The evolving nature of communication, driven by technological advancements, societal changes, and global interconnectedness, introduces an additional challenge. Staying updated on the latest trends and incorporating them into the essay to provide a contemporary perspective requires ongoing research and adaptability. • 2. UFO and Alien Sightings UFO and Alien sightings One of the most interesting topics to think about is if we really alone in this world. Many people believe that aliens do not exist, and many people believe that aliens do exist. Some people claim to have been abducted, and some people believe it is crazy to say other life forms may exist out there. Interesting enough, many signs do point to the existence of extraterrestrial lifeforms. Many examples of Alien and UFO sightings include, such as spaceship wreckage, recorded sightings in the sky, and Alien life forms found on Earth and other planets. An unidentified flying objectcrashed on a ranch northwest of Roswell, New Mexico, sometime during the first week of July 1947 ( 1947 Roswell UFO Incident ). Brazel said that as they rode along, he began to notice unusual pieces of what seemed to be metal debris scattered over a large area. Upon further inspection, he said, he noticed a shallow trench several hundred feet long gouged into the ground ( 1947 Roswell UFO Incident ). And, according to Marcel, the debris was strewn over a wide area, I guess maybe three quarters of a mile long and a few hundred feet wide. Scattered in the debris were small bits of metal that Marcel held a cigarette lighter to, to see if it would burn ( 1947 Roswell UFO Incident ). • 3. The Four Methods Of Raising Children It is common for the older generation to talk about having their children. These stories are usually filled with happiness and sorrow as they recount the troubles and joys they had raising their kids. Not every parent has the same method for teaching their children. There are four basic methods that are used by most though and they are as follows: В· The Authority Method This is the method where the main form of control over the children is fear. This means that anything the parents tell their children must be obeyed without question. The children listen because they know if they do not the punishments are severe and followed through with. There is no conversation or compromise, it is what it is. Those children who do not comply or who question their parents are punished. This method does not lead to a healthy and happy child. Instead of loving their parents, they fear them instead. There is more openness in the parent child relationship and compromise is the key for the parents who use this method of parenting. The one aspect that is good about this parenting method is that the parents are much closer to their children that the authority parents and they tend to be more open minded when their children are not cut exactly from the same cloth as they are. The children are allowed to be their own people and this allows for more

Both men are famous for their orchestral compositions and their future influence on other composers. They experienced a blend of horrible failures and great successes. Although they were from different musical time periods, they both made huge contributions to the world of music. Ludwig van Beethoven was born in Bonn, Germany 1770; the second half of the classical period. As a result, he spent a majority of his time composing. Beethoven would sketch out his compositions in a book. These books have been maintained and it is evident that he would work on several pieces at once. During this time, his compositions ranged from simple melodies to more elaborate and edited works. In 1804 Beethoven completed his Third Symphony. This piece was originally a tribute to Napoleon Bonaparte, but when Beethoven found that Napoleon was proclaimed an emperor he deleted the dedication. At this point in his life, Beethoven seriously considered marriage. His first love was for a woman named Giulietta Guicciardi. When this relationship eventually broke, he sought the hand of Giulietta s cousin, Josephine. The bond between them broke and the engagement was ended. Beethoven s final attempt with a woman was with his doctor s daughter, Therese Malfatti. As is expected, this relationship also failed and Beethoven reached the final part of his life as a bachelor. The rate and quality of his compositions slowed and he became more and more isolated. Another depressing and negative event in Beethoven s life took place in 1815. His brother died. • 6. The Importance Of Classical Literature Classical Literature A classic is a book that has never finished saying what it has to say. Italo Calvino Why should people read classical literature? Classics are relevant to today s time because they teach us the value, they help us understand history and culture, you can read and re read them, and they help us understand how we got our literature today. Classics are also entertaining and will continue to be read throughout generations. We should read classical literature because classical literature has value. The value is important to our culture because it shows how we got to our literature today and shows how far we have come. The story Orpheus and Eurydice is a good example of value and morality because Orpheus tries to get his wife back and fails. The Fates tell Orpheus not to look back at her until they are back home. Orpheus looked back at Eurydice and when he looked back at her he lost her for good. This story is a good example of value because it teaches us value and how we should appreciate what we have and appreciate the second chances we get in life. The history and culture behind classical literature is our history because it helped us get to where we are now and shows how we wrote and told our stories. The history in classical literature can be true or sometimes true. With myths, some of the stories have some truth in them or the story really happened but if that is the case, most of the time the storyteller makes assumptions about the event. In the

Hundreds of applications and websites have been created in order to connect people locally and internationally. Among these websites and applications are online dating tools. Online dating began in 1995 when Match.com was created, and has grown significantly since. Millennials (the generation born between the 1980 s and the mid 2000 s) were born into the digital revolution. Growing up, we were more likely to text to ask for a date, rather than in person, or even over the phone. Now that most Millennials are teenagers or older, datingapps have become the new norm. With apps like OkCupid, Tinder, Grindr, and more, traditional dating values have gone out the door to make room for online dating. The thing our parents knew as courting, rarely exists within the Millennial generation. So, with all these knew dating tools, the question becomes: Has online dating actually affected how Millennials date? Literary Review In our research about online dating and the effect it has had on how Millennials date, we found that there were some common ideas among writers. Today, beauty is not solely the exterior, but rather a nexus of internal characteristics. This is not a new concept, as William Shakespeare hints in his Sonnet 130. In the sonnet, Shakespeare uses contrast and volta to craft satire that ridicules society s obsession with physical beauty, adequately demonstrating the necessity of disassociating feminine value with external beauty. Shakespeare uses heavy juxtaposition to illustrate his mistress at face value, a feature that went against the traditional love poem. After the laundry list of unflattering remarks towards his mistress, Shakespeare confesses that he preciously views his love as rare // As any she belied with false compare (13 14). Analysis Of Dead Man Walking, Through Sister Helen Prejean Ever since the start of the death penalty there have been opposing views and arguments about the humanity of it versus the justice that needs to be served. In more modern times questions have arisen regarding the cost of being on death row and whether or not capital punishment actually deters crime, yet the questions concerning the deliverance of justice, the humanity of the prolonging isolation, and agony of knowing the execution date have always remained. These three issues are captured unbiasedly through a nun, who is the spiritual advisor for a man on death row, awaiting his upcoming execution. In the movie Dead Man Walking, through Sister Helen Prejean, the director Tim Robbins counters the humanity of the death penalty with the help of a collection of authors, to utilize the trials and tribulations of Matthew Poncelet in an attempt to sway the audience to the belief that no matter the cost, death does not deter crime. Since the year 1976 there have been a total of 1,433 executions in the United States, most of them being carried out in the South. In the early 1600s in America the death penalty was in place to deter crime and act as the most severe punishment possible for atrocious crimes, such as murder or treason. Capital punishment is still in use today as a way of counteracting violent crimes as well as providing the families of the victims with justice. However there was once a moment in America s history that could have ended the usage of the death penalty.

Historically, the Seminole Indians have been successful traders, which are evidenced from their vast trading networks during the periods of Spanish and British colonization of the region. This explains their adeptness at facilitating the trade of rare orchid flowers from Florida to markets in other parts of the country and in the European countries. As a result of the Seminole Wars fought during 1818 1858, large numbers of Seminole Indians were displaced from their native Florida (Cattelino 22). By understanding different communication styles, we can help our students begin to understand how to separate the message from the communication style of the person with whom they are communicating and to appropriately respond to the content of the message. Examples would be a supervisor saying to a subordinate in loud and angry tone of voice ...can t you do anything right? (aggressive style) or a shop clerk rolling her eyes back as she tells the customer rummaging through her purse take your time, I m not busy at all (passive aggressive style). Our communication skills are developed based upon our education, attitudes, and preconceived notions. The good news is that communication styles can be changed with effort and the right attitude. No matter your style, effective communication always includes positive feedback. Constructive comments help those you are speaking with to feel good about themselves, to feel more comfortable and confident trying new things, to grow, to be heard and to be taken seriously. What is the purpose behind all the seemingly similar adventures of so many similar knights? And what is the place that the books of Sir Trystram hold? These books make up the longest section of the work, yet Trystram plays no role in the search for the Holy Grail or the downfall of Arthur. There are many parallels drawn between Trystram and Launcelot: they are both the greatest knights of their time, both the greatest lovers, both become mad for a short time, etc. What distinguishes Trystram from Launcelot; ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Sir Froll episode begins when Sir Lamerok sees four knights fighting against one and he determines to rescue the sole knight (Malory, 337 341). The end is when Sir Bellyaunce, Sir Froll s brother, reconciles with Lamerok after they fight to exhaustion. Mann, looking at this episode solely in terms of distance and wholeness (leaving a fellowship to follow a quest creates distance and the formality of identifying oneself creates wholeness by uniting the two jousting knights), finds that the meaning of the episode becomes confused: Yet if Bellyaunce s revelation discloses their linkage as a chronological sequence, it also disrupts their coherence at the level of meaning: the knight whom Lamorak had so recently been at pains to rescue from death is the very same one that he himself turns out to have killed for no very compelling reason as it seems to us a few days later. Lamorak s second tangential entry into a sequence of events negates the effect of his first; the pattern created by his adventures, when revealed, proves to be one with which he cannot identify himself in terms of motive or consistency with his own past actions (5). However, if one looks at the Sir Froll episode as conflicts and resolutions of complicated identities, then there is consistency of meaning and the episodes

By supporting such cases such as Moore V Dempsey, Guinn V United States and Brown v Board Of Education, the group s influence in both modern day and past civil rights movements is irrefutable. With this in mind this group has also had its pitfalls and has not always, still to this day, have the support of the entire black community for varying reasons. Marcus Garvey was a major activist voice that vehemently disagreed with the goals and tactics of the NAACP. The NAACP goal was to essentially fix all of the issues that followed the emancipation of African Americans. In order to ensure this equality the group sought to dismantle blatantly anti black laws and practices. One of the first major court cases occurred in 1915 with Guinn v. United States. This court case challenged the blatantly racist and discriminatory grandfather clause exemptions to required literacy tests within Maryland, Oklahoma and many other states. These tests held the illusion that voters had fair and equal treatment. However, because of the grandfather clause the test s true nature was forced into the light. The clause stated that if a voter s grandfather had been eligible to vote prior to January 1st, 1866, were soldiers or a resident of a foreign nation then the voter would not have to take the literacy test. This of course favoured white voters since a black voter s grandfather

The main purpose of the curfew ordinance strives to reduce adolescent crime. This idea generates positive ideas in thought and theory; but the problem continues to remain. Child curfews do not seem to lower this crime rate. Research in the United States revealed no link between areas with child curfew and their crime rate. The majority of child crime happens from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m., which has no foreseeable relationship with a child curfew. The areas that see the most improvement are areas with zero tolerance policing and other similar strategies. The 14th Amendment of the United States says that no state shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States; this should apply to local government also. Cites and towns should not have the authority to take away privileges of citizens solely based in fear of unforeseeable crimes. They are taking away a right of all citizens for crimes that have not even been committed yet.
