Teenage Subcultures
Fashions it a Way of expressing freedom? Or is it an expression of rebellion?
This essay which I would explore is the subculture and expression of teenagers in
the late 1950,s known as mods and rockers. The Mods and Rockers rebelled to get
recognised out from the crowd. The problems are being seen around that period, with
the subcultures in Britain, as teenagers wanted to be different from their parent s way
of fashion to partying and to get recognised. The conflict included discussion on
social norms but also symbolised fashion freedom. While the approach of the
groups may not have been ideal, due to the chaos caused by the two groups, many
of them were jailed. The fashion that distinguished each of the groups consisted of
suits and smart dressing by the mods, who were working class. Rockers style of
dressing, jeans, and leather jackets informed as down market conversely, it has also
been utilised as a statement of freedom by those oppressed by government,
establishments or regimes. It has also been utilised as a statement of liberty by those
oppressed by government, institutions or systems. Buxbaum discusses the idea of
fashion as a social phenomenon which links comprehensively to the Mods and
Rockers phenomenon. This period gave way to incredible advancement in fashion
identity and the economy of fashion. It provides details of certain motivations held by
the youth at the time which helps explain some of the shocking sights seen by the
British public, and indeed the
Textual Analysis Of Hamlet
Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most popular plays to date. It follows the tragic story
of the young prince of Denmark and his quest for revenge. Although it is a great play,
it is much too out dated for the modern generation to be interested in it and to see the
greatness of it. The solution for this would be to create a film that not only exhibits
the central themes but also attracts the contemporary teenage audience. To effectively
gain their attention, the setting, characters and language would need to be modified.
First of all, the setting of Hamlet takes place in Elizabethan times; however, the
current teenage audience would not find that setting relatable or interesting. The
setting needs to fit with the audience they are targeting and if it is a modern day
audience then the setting should reflect that. Furthermore, buildings such as castles
are no longer common and the teenage audience would be able to connect more with
high schools or colleges more since it very ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Times change and so do the words that people use so it will be hard for a modern
day society to understand the passages full of metaphors and allusions relating to
Elizabethan times. Additionally, watchers may find the film boring or complex if
they do not understand what each character is saying. Conversation is a key aspect
in grasping the nature of certain characters and this cannot be done if the watcher
does not comprehend it. Additionally, allusions are abundant in Hamlet, but these
allusions are now centuries too old. Allusions need to be understood by the
audience for the most impact but the ones in Hamlet will not work. For example, It
out herods Herod (3.2.14) Herod was known to be a tyrant but that is not common
knowledge for someone in this day and age. Language is a major part in Hamlet to
progress the story and characters but if the audience does not comprehend it, it is

Prosperity Gospel Definition
Church and religion are not topics that come up often in my house. I ve never
stepped foot in a church. Both of my parents were raised to be very religious, but
never wanted that for their children. I was taught that if I worked hard, whether at
school or work, my teachers or managers would reward me for it. Prosperity gospel
is the belief that, the full blessings of God available to those who approach Him in
faith and obedience include wealth, health and power ( The Definition ). Before this
project, I don t think I ve ever seen or heard that word. The idea of the prosperity
gospel is a hotly debated topic among many people.
One person is John Calvin, an author and commentator on the Bible, does not believe
in the stereotypical prosperity gospel. He believes people are happy with their
achievements, and Instead of leading to gratitude, God s indulgent liberality ... Show

The first thing she has found is, God grants all his faithful followers physical health
and financial prosperity (Hladky). This first idea she found is closely related to the
dictionary definition. The second thing she found is, believers claim their divine
right to wealth and health through positive confession, financial offerings, and the
persistent faith that God must fulfill his promises (Hladky). She has also found that
the faith preachers that teach this topic teach that God only releases this gift when
his followers are fully committed and submitted to him (Hladky). The last person I
found talking about this topic is a pastor called Rick Henderson. Pastor Rick
Henderson is a big skeptic of the prosperity gospel. He believes that the big teachers

Poverty Divides Justice
Poverty Divides Justice
The opposite of poverty is not wealth, the opposite of poverty is justice
(Stevenson). Poverty, the state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in
amount. During this time period and decades leading to the past, the justice
system has consisted of various flaws. One of the imperfections proves that the
poor and impoverished are treated unfairly due to their lack of money and ability
to be able to speak up for what is ethical. Bryan Stevenson, the author of Just Mercy
and an icon for creating justice, writes about stories and cites real life examples of
how people have been mistreated due to lack of resources and money. In addition,
the New York Times Article, Court by Court, Lawyers Fight Policies That Fall
Heavily on the Poor , written by Shaila Dewan, exemplifies the blisters that the
court system plays in society and what people are doing at this day and age to
reverse these faults and create equality for all. Plus, a New York Times video,
Keeping The Poor Out of Jail, created by Kassie Bracken and Jessica Naudziunas,
shows real life actions and struggles that an abundance of people are going through
within the justice system and the tactics to tear the courts down from their
reprehensible actions. All of these sources prove that the moral in the justice system
has diminished and needs to be restored in order to create for equality amongst all.
Bryan Stevenson, the author of Just Mercy, is a gifted young attorney who founded
the Equal Justice Initiative, which is a legal practice dedicated to protecting the
rights of the poor and support of the wrongly convicted. One of his main cases that
proves that the opposite of poverty is not wealth, the opposite of poverty is justice
(Stevenson). This case is comprised of Walter McMillian who was victimized due
to the color of his skin and cruel punishment of the justice system (Stevenson).
Parallel to that of the book To Kill a Mockingbird , Walter McMillian was charged
with the murder of a white young women in Monroeville Alabama. McMillian cut
timber for a living and therefore did not have any extra money to spend trying to
redeem himself of his freedom. In addition, there was no tangible evidence proposed

Pine Forests Of The Colorado Plateau
Ponderosa pine forests of the Colorado Plateau cover a large portion of the higher
mesas and mountains from elevations of 6000 to approximately 8000 feet. They often
form almost pure stands encompassing tens of thousands of acres at elevations above
6500 feet in the southern area. Located southwest of Flagstaff to the White Mountains
of eastern Arizona, the Mogollon Rim comprises the southern edge of the Colorado
Plateauin Arizona. The escarpment reaches close to 200 miles across central Arizona,
with an average elevation of approximately 7000 feet. It contains the largest
ponderosa pine forestin the United States.
The three needled Rocky Mountain ponderosa pine (Pinus ponderosa var.
scopulorum) is the prevalent form of pine throughout the Colorado Plateau. Gambel
oak (Quercus gambelii) is commonly associated with the ponderosa pine at lower
elevations as well as the New Mexico locust (Robina neomexicana). At higher
elevations it shares habitat with southwestern white pine (Pinus strobiformis), Rocky
Mountain white fir (Abies concolor var. concolor), Rocky Mountain Douglas fir,
(Pseudotsuga menziesii var. glauca), and quaking aspen (Populus tremuloides).
Understory plants which are commonly found in these forests include grasses such as
mountain muhly and Arizona fescue, forbs such as lupine, as well as apache plume,
buckbrush, currant, and cliffrose.

Should Juveniles be Tried in the Adult Criminal Justice...
Imagine sitting in a courtroom, hoping the the judge will not give a harsh sentence.
Unfortunately, that s the case for many juveniles, some as young as 13! A juvenile is
subject to a more severe sentence with the limited sentencing available. It is estimated
that 250,000 youth are prosecuted as adults, each year. This number should change,
as juveniles are not adults, both mentally and physically. Juveniles need an
environment surrounded with guiding adults, education and the resources to help
them. A juvenile is not an adult, and should not be tried as one.
The environment in adult facilities is immensely different from juvenile facilities.
Rehabilitation options are limited in adult facilities. It is hard for children to fit in
with adults, or even be respected. Lack of attention and bullying are both major
problems for juveniles in prison (Human Rights Watch). Juveniles in prison have a
18x greater risk of committing suicide, due to lack of supervision (Juvenile Forensic
Evaluation Center) However, juvenile facilities provide higher quality education,
adequate health care, and better security. 70% of juveniles are held under locked
situations, rather than staff secure settings (Juvenile Forensic Evaluation Center).
This decreases the amount of violence between juveniles and the staff. Since
depression is a common health issue, juvenile facilities often have treatment
available. Giving a juvenile the resources to help, can really benefit them at this
Brand Identity And Marketing Messages
Brand Identity and Marketing Messages
Before launching a product or marketing a message, many ideas for brand identity,
such as artistic logos and clever jingles to draw in the consumer and become
memorable, stay on the presentation board in the marketing executive s office. For
the wildly successful product marketing that basks in a near cult following, such as
Coke, Apple, or McDonalds, there are the utter failures such as the Gremlin, the
Susan B. Anthony dollar, and numerous spin offs of successful television shows.
Therefore, when OfficeMax Inc. launched Elf Yourself , an interactive holiday e
card on its website in 2006, its success took everyone by surprise. Thacker, an
OfficeMax marketing and advertising executive admitted, When you think of holiday
shopping, you don t think office supplies (Colorado State University Global Campus,
2014).The following discussion focuses on the objectives, timely launch, and how
OfficeMax reached their intended target with the surprise hit of the 2006 holiday
season. This popular marketing campaign is a perfect example of everything going
right at precisely the perfect time.
Campaign Objectives and Timeline for Completion
Behind any retail campaign, no matter the product niche, is to bring consumer
interest to the product or service, thus increasing sales. In the Elf Yourself campaign,
OfficeMax used a unique form of marketing by inserting their brand into an Elf e
card that had no direct association with its products. OfficeMax
Reflection Paper On Addicts
We ve all heard of addicts but what really qualifies an individual as an addict?
Addiction is defined as the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to
something that is psychologically or physically habit forming, as narcotics, to such an
extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. (Dictionary.com, 2002) Last Monday, I
had the opportunity to observe an open Alcoholics Anonymoussession at Calvary
Chapel in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Upon arrival, there were two people already there.
One lady appeared to be the facilitator as she was seated at a table with sign in
sheets and class material. I quickly introduced myself and explained that I was
there to observe as a class assignment. She warmly welcomed me, handed me some
reading material and offered me to sit where I pleased. The room was located in the
multipurpose room of the church. There were no windows, just an assortment of
chairs positioned in a circle for easy discussion. While waiting for the others to
trickle in, I was educated that the weekly sessions were formed for addicts to discuss
their journey of addiction, and to provide and receive support for their decision to
remain sober. The meeting opened with group facilitator making everyone aware
that I was a student observer that would be observing for the night. I was asked to
introduce myself and I also agreed to keep their stories and names anonymous when
writing this paper. It somewhat felt awkward as the outsider, but
Meaning Of Dreams By Descartes
While describing dreams, Descartes writes:
How do we know that the mental states that come to us in dreams are any more
false than the others, seeing that they are often just as lively and sharp...For, in the
first place, what I took just now as a rule, namely that whatever we conceive very
vividly and clearly is true, is assured only because God exists and is a perfect being,
and because everything in us comes from him. (Descartes 17).
In this text, Descartes first categories dreams as false but lively and sharp , yet
asserts immediately afterwards that whatever we conceive vividly must be true
(17). At first glance this is very confusing, because he seems to say that dreams are
both true and false. This contradiction is later clarified, however, when he mentions
that our reasoning when asleep is not as complete as when we are awake (18).
Perhaps dreams are misleading not as a result of their content, but because we lose
our rationality while asleep and have a harder time comprehending what we
perceive. Being asleep is like reading a book in hieroglyphic script, and being
awake is doing so with the Rosetta Stone. The two states are equally as valid, yet it
still easier to understand the natural world when equipped with reason, than it is to
understand dreams without. Al Ghazali points out that a state may arise that bears the
same relation to the waking state as waking state does to dream . This of course is
the mystic state. As was demonstrated earlier, reaching this
The Last Days Of The Incas
The Last Days of the Incas:
How the conquest of the Spaniards led to an impact on one of the world s largest
empires. The Inca Empire, shortly after its beginning, fell under the rule of the
Spaniards but was still one of the world s ancient largest empires. It wasn t until
around 1400 that the Incas began to emerge as the dominant regional polity . On the
eve of the early 1530 s the Spanish invaded the Incas . However, the Incan rulers had
just fought a civil war in which Atahualpa, the emperor, had defeated his brother
Huascar. Reasonably, the Incas were defensive towards those who approached the
empire. Eventually when the leader of the Spanish conquest Francisco Pizarro along
with a force of 167 men came along, they clashed with ... Show more content on

The Incan society believed in ranks, topmost, including the royal family, the
descendant kin of past rulers, the non royal ethnic Incas, and the Incas by Privilege.
Despite the elites prominence, peasant families who lived in towns and villages:
farmers, herders, fishers and artisans, made up about 95 98 percent of the
population. The Incas called their empire Tawatinsuyu, the Land of the Four corners

of the Inca Empire was made up of numerous non Inca groups. Author Kim

for five years. Although MacQuarrie himself is not Peruvian, he was educated in the

information collected during his anthropological field work in the Amazon; there

My Happy Day
Surpriesed things usually make you happy but sometimes it also makes you sad.
Surprise makes you become full of emotion. You can feel sad and happy at the
same time. I felt that once. It was a goodbye party for me. I was going to go study
abroad so my friends hold a party for me. Only my best friend and me were there.
On that day, the sun was shining, the birds were singing. I had thought that it would
be a happy day. However, it wasn t. The party was on 3 July. At 3.00 pm, my friends
came to my house and then we went to the supermarket to buy food. When we came
back home, we started cooking. It was absolutely exhilarant to cook together. We
finished cooking at about 5.00 pm. Our menu included fried chicken, sushi, fried
taco with fish sauce. We enjoyed our food which we had cooked together.
Although the food wasn t as delicious as the restaurant, we adored them so much
because they was made by us, by memories between us. Then we were eating and
talking at the same time. We talked about what had happened in our lives, in our
school. After we had finished eating, we decided to go to karaoke. All my friends
and I were interested in singing. Therefore, karaoke was the best choice.
Each of us rode our own bike to karaoke. At the begining, all of us were excited to
choose the songs. We sang many songs about love. Suddenly, a song about friendship
started. I feel quite confused because we didn t often sing this kind of music. Then
two of my friends said that they needed to go to
Basketball s History And The History Of Basketball
The game of basketball as it is known today was created by Dr. James Naismith in
December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts to condition young athletes during cold
months. It consisted of peach baskets and a soccer style ball. The game became
established quickly and grew very popular as the 20th century progressed, first in
America and then throughout the world. After basketballbecame established in
American colleges, the professional game followed. The American National
Basketball Association (NBA), established in 1946, grew to a multibillion dollar
enterprise by the end of the century, and basketball became an integral part of
American culture. This game is now played by more than 250 million people
worldwide in an organized fashion, as well as by countless others in pick up games.
Basketball originated in 1891 when a future Presbyterian minister named James
Naismithwas assigned to teach a physical education class at a Young Men s
Christian Association (YMCA) training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. The
first professional league was in 1898. Players that wanted to play earned $2.50
every home game they played and $1.25 for an away game. A player on the
Washington Bullets which are now called the Washington Wizards, had offers of
more than 100 million dollars in over seven seasons on the Washington Bullets and
the Miami Heat. A lot of teams in the NBA now have players from different countries,
who return home to represent their native countries during the Olympic Games. The
Dream Team , made u p of the top American professional players, has stood up for
the United States in the recent Olympic Games. In 1996 the Dream Team trailed
some opponents until fairly late in the games an indication of basketball s growing
international status. In Athens 2004, Argentina took the gold medal home. That s the
first time a Latin American country won the basketball honor. The rules to the game
of Basketball is that the ball can be thrown in any direction with one or both hands.
The ball may be batted in any direction with one or both hands, but never with the
fist. A player cannot run with the ball. The player must throw it from the spot on
which he catches it, allowance to be made for a man running at good
The Sex Of Sex Work
The world of sex work has been around for countless years. Hollywood portrays it
as a normal way of life in all the cowboy movies and put a glamorous feel around it.
However, Hollywood is about selling dreams and fantasy, though the reality is quite
different. The reality is that sex work is dangerous. The act in and of itself is not
usually dangerous, nevertheless, the situations in which it needs to be conducted are.
Today s sex work incorporates more than just prostitution; the adult film industry,
Dom/Sub work, phone sex operators, together with exotic dancing are all considered
sex work. The focus of this essay has been narrowed down to just the prostitution
aspect of sex work and the decriminalization for the means of creating a safer
environment for the worker. Decriminalization of this particular type of sex work
would render the job safer for the workers given that they would have the ability to
screen clients, an established place of employment, safety in numbers, a positive
relationship with law enforcement, and enhanced means to protect themselves from
health risks.
Screening of the clients is a key aspect of keeping the sex workers safe. Screening
the clients is a lot about reading people, their clothes, their attitude, how they hold
themselves and trusting the experience of the worker s instinct. The screening
process will not work every single time, however, the ability to make the decision to
go with a client or not can save the workers life. Escorts and
Sleep Affects Grades
A good night s sleep for the average teenager is from 8 1/2 10 hours of sleep. There
are many problems that can happen because of sleep loss, such as depression,
weight gain, and irritability, but can sleep affect one s grades in school? I wanted to
conduct a survey to find out if this was true.
Sleep is very important for someone to function properly throughout their daily lives.
The longer you stay awake, the more you will feel tired, because of your internal
biological clock, the circadian rhythm. Sleep helps us to regenerate our bodies from
the previous day, helping us recuperate. It also helps to restore and rebuild our
memories of our experiences of the day. A good amount of sleep also helps creative
thinking and supports growth and muscle development. For my survey, I was
wondering if sleep would affect the average high school student s grades (or GPA)....

The first question would be: How many hours a night do you sleep, on average?
This is because the hours someone sleeps can vary from night to night. Next, I
would ask: How many hours a night do you study, on average? The hours someone
studies every night can be a big factor in how they do at school. If they don t study
at all outside of school, but they get eight to ten hours of sleep a night, the sleep
wouldn t be the main thing that was affecting their bad grades. Lastly, my third
question would be: What is your GPA? The reason for this is obvious because it
would show how well they are doing in

Raina Kelley Beauty
To: The Shorthorn Editor: What is beauty to you? Is it having perfect teeth,
amazing hair, and the hourglass figure; or is beauty what makes the person they
are today. Everyone has a different opinion on beauty. Raina Kelley makes an
argument over beauty in an article called Beauty Is Defined, and Not By You.
Although she makes a somewhat valid argument, I find that there is much more to
this topic. Yes, body image is becoming more of an issue in today s world,
especially within young girls and women. In a study that was done by the Journal of
the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in 1999 found that
twenty percent of nine year olds and over forty percent of fort teen year olds

Raina Kelley comes off as very negative. Rather than invoking positive
reinforcement on the topic of beauty. She uses such context as yes, people can be
vicious in their categorization of women s looks; insult them back or ignore them.
I think it is fair to say most people are not going to agree with that statement. Most
of us grew up with our parents saying that two wrongs don t make a right. So if she
is trying to convince the audience to be on her side and agree I believe the way
she is going about it is completely wrong. In addition, one would believe that being
negative would hurt one s beauty standard. I find rude, and negative to be very
ugly because my view of beauty is that not only do looks have part to do with
beauty but what makes you up as a person in values is very important as well. Also,
she goes on to say in her article that most of the world s women aren t Vogue
approved hotties and still so many to manage to kick ass in law school, business
school and or medical school, and not by sitting in a plastic surgeon s office or the
gym all day. . I find that she has very little emotion towards the people she is writing
to nor just she care about what they think. So that alone may make the people not
want to read or even hear what she has to say. Additionally, she begins her article
talking about race, saying that as a rounded black woman with curly hair, the best she
can hope for is moderately

David Bowie s Song Space Oddity
Sasha Rakowski Champion AP English 8th period In July, 1969, David Bowie
released the song Space Oddity. Written during the height of the space race, the
song has clear connections to space travel, although beneath the surface it has
deeper ties to Bowie s looming alienation during the opening of his music career.
Bowie describes the feeling of estrangement and hones in on the cynical way one
sees the world after pulling away from everyone and everything. He does this
through descriptive metaphors describing the sensation of floating alone above the
earth. Through the eyes of someone who sees the world as being a cold, sorrowful
place. Bowie suggests that once one is sitting alone in a tin can, or alone one s mind
and reality, that it s impossible to communicate with anyone about one s thoughts or
emotions. In a melancholy tone David Bowie writes both to himself and to others

David Bowie s song Space Oddity, gives a clear example of encountering this
sensation. Through various figurative language, such as metaphors and similes,
Bowie fixates on the distance in relationships when one is estranged. During the
song Bowie writes about the character Major Tom, an astronaut, who while on (most
likely) his first mission, he loses contact with ground control. This leaves Major
Tom, floating around in space with no way of contacting anyone. Major Tom, is the
pseudonym for Bowie s distant emotions to the people around him. His loss of
connection with ground control is meant to symbolize the people that Bowie was
close to. Without being able to speak openly about his emotions he was put into the
situation where he was completely alone. Much like Major Tom, floating alone in

Case Study
According to (Ya Huei,2014), It is natural for a child to love the art of drawing. It is
stated that children s work on a whole reflects their feelings, thoughts, and actions
circling in their minds. The purpose of the study is to critically assess a student who
displays a high level of interest in Visual Arts. The data was collected through
interviews with parents, teacher and the student. After a few months of studying and
collection, the results found that: 1) the drawings reflected the child s imagination, 2)
the drawings were of the things in relation to his life, 3) the drawings reflected his

Therefore, in the process of understanding children s drawings, words that
demonstrate personal or social functions are key factors in determining children s
nature and their early symbolic development. Thus, drawings are children s
behavioural and dialectical expressions, and their mental and ideological
presentations. Children s drawings typically exhibit personal meaning, and present
various image manifestations and styles. Although children are designated as little
artists, few studies have examined the images portrayed in children s drawings.
Objective
This case study is about a young boy named John Miller. I observed him in his
classroom at the St. Mary Academy for children. He is 8 years old, has a young
brother and lives with his mother and his father. The study focuses primarily on the
child s drawings that were collected to determine his artistic development.

Lowering The Drinking Age
Lowering the drinking age in the United States Alcohol is many people s drink of
choice in several different situations. Whether it is a casual get together or a crazy
out of control party, it is not hard for adolescents to get their hands on the substance
even if it is illegal for them to purchase and drink it. However, even the parents and
lawmakers of the most respectful teenagers can not ignore the growing rate of
adolescents drinking earlier than 21. While it may be fun in the moment teens miss
the steps of drinking responsibility and the long term effects of partaking in it. Even
though some lawmakers claim that lowering the drinking age would negatively affect
the country, the long term effects of individuals drinking earlier could... Show more

On the positive side, it could be beneficial to the country because the amount of
alcohol that this age range actually consumes is borderline excessive compared to
older age groups. Research suggests that, lowering the drinking age in the U.S
could prove to be beneficial (Mahaleris). About 65 percent of students over the age
of 18 regularly consume alcohol and considering the percentage of students in
college who drink underage regardless(Mahealeris). They do so in places where
alcohol is not permitted, it is clearly present and is not easily ignored(Mahaleris).
Since these underage kids drink so much alcohol it is obvious, they have to get the
alcohol from somewhere. Purchases naturally benefit the country because of the
taxes the government takes out of it so if the purchase of alcohol increases money
that the government has will skyrocket compared to the estimated amount of
alcohol people that can legally buy and consume it bring in. Although, the growing
rate of young adults buying alcohol may affect funding negatively. On the other
hand, from the outside looking in no one realizes the negatives. In many places in
the country this issue has already started being discussed and are reviewing what
would happen as a result of going along with the bill. For example Nicole herself
writes that, in Wisconsin a bill about this topic was proposed and would have to gain
Kobe vs Lebron
When it comes to basketball, many people off the top of the head say Michael
Jordan, Magic Johnson. Many people think that Kobe Bryant is one of the greatest
or they say LeBron James. Which LeBron is just not there in the way Kobe is there
now. Kobe Bryant came in the game as a young one he came straight out of high
school, just like LeBron James, Kobe was drafted to the charlotte hornets but was
traded to the L.A Lakers. Within his first year he was known around the league as a
high flyer, also winning the slam dunk contest. Just by this alone Kobe is way ahead
of LeBron, but there is more to this story that just meets the eye. Kobe Bryant has set
more records than LeBron, but Kobe has been in the league longer than LeBron. Kobe

always be better than LeBron at everything he does. Now that LeBron has a good
team that he plays with now he still is not having the best outcome. Kobe has to
battle all of these teams with all these super star teams and he is over coming all of
these obstacles. People will always argue about these two till the day that lebron

Historical Documents Affect Me Today
It seems like in today s day and age, most historical documents are looked over,
blatantly ignored. Many people are misinformed of what they are meant to be and
what the meaning is behind them. After I received my summer assignment, I asked
my father if we could go to the National Archives Museum and learn more about
what I d be writing an essay about. He replied, Of course. While I was there, I
thought about how they affect me today. Would I not have my freedom? Would I be
under British Parliament, a country almost five thousand miles away? Would my
family not be able to have religious freedom of being Christian Jewish? To think of
an overpowering government today is strange. Some people already believe that our
government is too powerful,
Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven
Essay
Analysis of William Wordsworth s Poem We Are Seven
William Wordsworth s poem, We are Seven, is about a person talking to a young
girl about her and her six siblings. Throughout the poem, the narrator gave the young
girl a very difficult time when she persisted that simply because not all seven
children were home together, or alive, they were still seven. The narrator was giving
the young girl a hard time because he wanted her to remember and understand that
just because she and her siblings are separated does not make them any less siblings.
Wordsworth says that two of the seven siblings are at Conway. In what way would
two siblings being far from home make them be considered not siblings? Would that
not be like saying to a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the poem, the little girl says, Two of us in the church yard lie, / My sister and
my brother; (Lines 21 22). Insisting that they are still seven, the young girl shows a
lot of grace and mature understanding. This is the majority of the poem because the
narrator thinks it is most important that the young girl understands she has still has
five siblings, despite two of them have passed and, their graves are green, they
may be seen (Line 37). The girl is only eight years of age and she understands that
her deceased siblings are still her siblings even though they are not still living.
Making sure she understands she still has five siblings is exactly what the narrator
s goal is, but the narrator is pretending to believe they are only five. The narrator
reinforces his belief in lines 35 36: If two are in the church yard laid,/ Then ye are
only five. The conversation resurfaces later in the poem, in lines 61 64: How many
are you, then, said I,/ If they two are in heaven?/ Quick was the little Maid s reply,
/ O Master! We are seven. No matter what is said by the narrator, the eight year old
girl insists that they are seven. Two siblings being dead is the most reinforced
because the narrator and the little girl know that her siblings at Conway or at sea are
anticipated to return home sometime. The other two, the deceased two, will never
return home.
The small gal lightly touches on two of her other siblings who are
Skate Shop Research Paper
Getting into the skate life is not an easy process, which is why I am here to
educate you on how to start. There are many key things you need to know how to
do to live the skater lifestyle such as, finding a skate shop, buying good quality
hardware for your board, knowing how to put your hardware together, and of course
learning how to ride your new board.
Finding the Right Skate Shop You are going to need a skate shop to buy good quality
parts so that your board rides fast and smooth. One of the ways you can find a great
shop is to go to your local skate park and ask around where you can find the best for a
great deal. Another way that you can find some good shops is to go to your local

Now that you have found the shop that holds the parts you need, you can now start
to browse the shelves. First start looking for a deck. The deck is what holds you
and is the largest part. The most common material you will find in a deck is 7 ply
maple (SkaterGarage). On the bottom face of each deck is a graphic or some sort
of art. This is where you can begin to personalize your board to your style. After
you have chosen the deck that most appeals to you, you can move on to the grip
tape. Grip tape is applied on the upper face of the board. The rough surface, once
applied allows you to get air for doing tricks. Now that you have a deck with
griptape applied, you can start to gather the moving parts that allow the board to do
all the twists, turns, tricks, and cruising. You will need trucks, wheels, and bearings.
Trucks are what allow you to do the leaning motions that turn the board left and
right, also known as carving. Wheels are the pieces that grant the board access to
motion, forward or backward. Bearings are very important to the motion of a
skateboard too. Without them your wheels would not be able to move. Each bearing
contains 7 to 8 lubricated steel balls, which spin when riding. All these parts are

Body Camera Research Project
The issue of wearing body camera s with police officers in the United States is
currently a controversial topic and requires further analysis. In current events, such as
the killings of minority men Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by the police; have
the public up in arms. Incidents such as these only drive the debate more and more
on why police officers should be required to wear body cameras. Many police
officers however do not feel they need to wear them and feel it might impair their
ability to do their job efficiently. The public on the other hand wants transparency
when it comes to the police and wearing body cameras is one means of doing so. In

It is an ongoing process and a learning one at that, so it s important to be patient. I
do believe it is a step in the right direction for officers to be required to wear body
cameras because as we can see from the statistics it only improves there conduct
out in the field. I understand there is issues with the cameras and disclosure of the
footage, but eliminating the whole idea for those reasons just seems redundant. If
wearing these cameras is going to hold police officers to the standards they should
be held to then so be it. I feel people have the idea the police are somehow above the
law, but when it comes to their conduct always being in check that might change
people s perception. Anything that can be done to strengthen the bond between
people and law enforcement should be done. Implementing body cameras in law
enforcement across the United States, I believe the positives that come from them
will far outweigh the negatives. Nothing in the justice system is perfect and when it
comes to using these cameras I believe it will help to justify decisions being made
by police officers across the United States. Having some sort of visual evidence from
these encounters is only going to help serve the people the justice that they

Angels And Insects Essay
A great Neo Victorian concern was to deconstruct the ideals and myths of the
Victorian society and belief, as they were foolishly enslaved by their own jaundice.
The Victorians have made a sidewall to inner and sometimes outer world, becoming
mediocre in thinking and acting.
The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from
Victorians and ingeniously rearranged by A.S. Byatt in her first short novel from
Angels and Insects aspects regarding the multitude of perspectives when it comes to
analyzing the characters.
On the one hand, it was quite unusual for a man who lived in the Victorian era to be
so sensitive to female s feelings, to offer her his unconditionally love and
compassion, and to be so open minded that he is seen as a poor fish by narrow
minded people. The model of gentleman is, thus, brought back to its literary meaning,
in the sense that William is gentle in thought and action. It may seem that he founds
the balance between reason and emotion by keeping a journal: He had always kept a
journal. When he was a young man, in a village outside Rotherham in Yorkshire, he

This ideal idea results in a stunning modernized version of the old Shakespeare s
story. Before comparing the two versions, the importance of an opening sequence
for a movie in general has to be discussed. The opening sequence of a movie
introduces the audience to the setting, mode and situation on which the movie is
based upon. It establishes the story of the film and attracts the attention of its
audiences, so the opening sequence of a movie plays a crucial role to catch the
spectators attention at the beginning until it finishes. The opening sequence of
Zeffirali movie starts with high angle shot of the Italian scenery and an
inspirational voice reads the famous prologue. The opening sequence of this version
begins in the medieval town market, where Capulet servants dressed in bright
clownish colours meet Montague servants dressed in dark and sombre clothes.
After short period of joke and adversary talk, the Capulets provoke a fight. Benvolio,
Montague and friend of Romeo, unsuccessfully tries to stop the fight. After a split

Causes and Effects of the Crusades Essay
Causes and Effects of the Crusades
Towards 1071 AD, Seldjuk Turks had grown powerful and had started conquering the
East. Christians began to find it difficult to reach the holy places during their
pilgrimages. The military expeditions planned and fought by western European
Christians that began around 1095 AD, are known today as the Holy Wars, or the
Crusades. The purpose of these expeditions was to overtake and gain control of the
holy land of Jerusalem, from the Muslims. Deus Vult, meaning God Wills It, was
the battle cry of the thousands of Christians who took part in the event of the
Crusades. It was Christian belief that fate was to gain control of the Holy Land for
the glory of God.

For peasants, the crusade let them be free of feudal bonds. Everyone was also
promised immediate salvation in heaven if they were killed in trying to free the
holy land from non Christians. This goaded many people to become part in this
battle. Soon, Urban lost all control of the vast army that was far beyond his control.
Therefore, he did not have to power to stop the slaughter of Jews in northern France,
and so many other populations in the East and in Europe.
At this time, and at the start of the crusades, the Pope had little real power over
Christianity. Urban was hoping that the Crusades would help strengthen his power
and possibly help religious beliefs become more a part of daily life among the general
population in Europe. In General, the Crusades were seen as a way for the Pope to
gain political power over the uncontrolled warrior class. Urban felt that the best way
to unite followers is a Holy War, where Christianity is everyone s standard.
The eight crusades which were spurred for many different reasons by many different
people that left a lasting effect to the world. These years of bloodshed were led by
men wanting money, greed, and fame to themselves at the expense of others.
The Crusades had one major strong effect on Europe. It managed to reduce the
number of quarrelsome and contentious knights that fought and
Investigating The Effect Of Ph On The Reaction Of A...
Introduction
I am going to examine how hydrogen peroxide (acidic fluid) will modify the outcome
of a poultry (enzyme) reaction.
Goal
Observe and record what happens when enzymes (chicken) are added to different
amounts of acid (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water. The activity level of these
enzymes will differ and be dependent upon several factors, such as consistency, size
and shape of the molecule. Specific factor will be the concentration enzyme and
substrate. I will conduct a controlled experiment to determine the influence of pH on
the enzyme catalase and the release of oxygen.
Hypothesis
Acidic fluid on an enzymatic would react in different ways based on the strength of
the acid solution. The stronger the acid solution, there will be more of a reaction and
the stronger the base solution, there will be less of the reaction.
Pre lab Hypothesis
1.What do you expect to happen when an enzyme is added to an acid?
a.The acid will cause the enzyme to release oxygen in the form of bubbles and will
eventually dissolve the enzyme if given a long enough time frame.
2.Is Hydrogen Peroxide an acid or a base? Why?
a.Hydrogen Peroxide is a weak acid with PH level of 6.2, but it is still an acid.
3.What would happen if a stronger base ratio compared to a stronger acid ratio was
used?
a.There would not be much of a reaction at all because the base does not have a
strong enough PH level to break down the enzymes.
4.Which solution between the acid and the base do I

Essay on America s Most Devastating Conflict
America s Most Devastating Conflict
King Philip s War (1675 76) is an event that has been largely ignored by the American
public and popular historians. However, the almost two year conflict between the
colonists and the Native Americans in New England stands as perhaps the most
devastating war in this country s history. One in ten soldiers on both sides were
wounded or killed. At its height, hostilities threatened to push the recently arrived
English colonists back to the coast. And, it took years for towns and urban centers to
recover from the carnage and property damage.
The war is named for King Philip, the son of Massasoit and chief of the Wampanoag
nation. In his language, his name was Metacom, Metacomet, or Pometacom. In 1662,

Though there were many events that led to the war, the attack on the settlement on
the banks of the Kickemuit River may be attributed to the growing perception that
Indian land had been increasingly encroached upon by settlers, leaving cornfields

since the arrival of the English at Plymouth Rock in 1620, land under Native control

With Jimmy John s reputation for quick service, the most notable substitute would be
any of the many fast food restaurants available. Second would the option of a sit
down restaurant. Also, a final substitute would be the option for consumers to
purchase food from a grocery store and eat at home. The fast food restaurants that
would most likely serve as substitutes would be places like Burger King, McDonald
s, Taco Bell, and Wendy s. These restaurants offer relatively inexpensive food like
Jimmy John s, and also cater to the customer that is in a hurry. Jimmy John s holds
a decided advantage over these fast food burger and taco restaurants with their
offer of fresh ingredients and a healthier sandwich. Sit down restaurants may be
able to compete with Jimmy John s in their ability to offer a more nutritious meal,
but they do not offer some of the other amenities that are available at Jimmy John s.
A sit down restaurant will not offer the quick turnaround of a freshly made

purchase their own food and make their meals at home will be able to compete with
Jimmy John s on both price and nutritional value, but will not have the speed or ease
of ordering a sandwich from Jimmy John s. These three substitutes offer viable
options to the customers in Jimmy John s target market, but Jimmy John s

Morte Darthur Chivalry Analysis
Ricardo Leal
Professor Marilupe Delgado
ENGL 2123 2003
9/26/17
Chivalry in Morte Darthur Chivalry is in this era is normally looked at as an
attitude or a mindset men should adopt as being courteous to women. Such as
holding the door, letting them through first and so on and so forth. In the Tale of
Morte Darthur chivalry was much more than that, Chivalry was a code a lifestyle that
men and knights in medieval times would adopt where their beliefs, morals, religion
and social code were directly influenced. Chivalry was very important because it gave
the knights character. Characters in this story such as King Arthurand Lancelot are
key components to the concept of chivalry in this story as they are directly influenced
by the concept.
The importance of Chivalry is ingrained within the Round Table of King Arthur
from the knights by reciting and pledging themselves to the vows of knighthood at
Pentecost ,as it is mentioned in Morte Darthur by vowing to protect women and to
flee from treason and murder . An integral part in Chivalry that is described is
honor. Honor is established in this story when King Arthur creates his Round Table
and the members follow the code of chivalry. Arthur s knights pledge honor to the
king, but above all they must serve and honor God, who plays as a moral compass
for the characters in the story . The Knights of the Round Table all fought to honor
the king, in all of their journeys and battles. But they use this code to their own
benefit at times and more often than not it backfires on them. Characters in this story
acted upon these beliefs and instilled them into their everyday lives.
King Arthur is King Uthers heir and rightful King of Camelot in this story.
Throughout the story, Arthur acts with the intent of Honor and Chivalry in his
life and through his reign as king. When he is crowned king, he promises the
people of his kingdom to be a true king by and his loyalty as quoted in Morte
Darthur And there was he sworn unto his lords and the commons for to be a true
king, to stand with true justice for henceforth the days of this life. Also then he
made all lords that held of the crown to come in and to do service as they ought to
do. (11.20 24) King
The Powers And Duty Of The Corporation
Control of a company is held to be in the hand of company directors and due to the
degree of such control, fiduciary duties are imposed on them both under statue and
common law provisions. The purpose of these duties are to ensure that directors
exercise their power with reasonable care in the best interest of the corporation.
Adherence to and compliance with these obligations is mandatory so as to hold
directors accountable for their actions. The following essay will discuss whether or
not the legislation is suitable and flexible enough or requires amendment with regards
to Section 181 of the Corporations Act 2001(Cth) ( Corporations Act ) and the
approach to the interpretation of the terms good faith or best interest of the
corporation .
The powers and duty of the management of the corporation derives from section
198A of the Corporation Act 2001 (Cth) with additional common, tort and statutory
law. However, the powers of directors are interpreted to be broad, including making
decisions against the majority shareholder s wishes . The codification of statutory
duties is contained in sections 180 184 of the Corporations Act. The duties listed in
these sections are interlocked to protect the corporation as a separate legal entity as
well as its shareholders.
Section 181 specifies that directors must discharge their duties in good faith in the
best interest of the corporation and for a proper purpose . In both Greenhalgh v

Tengriism Research Paper
Tengriism is a religion practiced and based in Central Asia. The actual founding date
of Tengriism has not been confirmed, but it is believed to have begun sometime
around the Bronze Age, which lasted from 3,300 B.C. through to 1,200 B.C. It is one
of the oldest religions, and includes characteristics of shamanism, animism, totemism,
both polytheism and monotheism, and ancestor worship. It is one of the few
religions to represent a pure philosophical vision rather than religious views, having
never caused any wars or sought to convert and propagandize the world. Tengri was
the main divinity worshipped by the ruling class of the Central Asian people from the
6th to 9th centuries, however, it lost this importance in the 8th century. The worship...

It was discovered in 1889 in the Orkhon Valley in Mongolia and was used to

have been found on many rocks, with carvings and paintings dating back to the 4th

Turks. The sacred site of Ungirtas is another account of the historical religion. At
the summit of this site, on the hill, a stone marks the belly button of the world we

are instructed to lie on your back 4 metres from the stone for five to seven minutes.
Once you re in the appropriate position, you may ask for your soul to be cleansed
and allow the energy to pass through your body and eliminate the negativity from
your life and cast it into the
Examples Of Cognitive Psychology
Cognitive psychology is the study of how people perceive, learn, remember and
think about information. A cognitive psychologist might study how people perceive
various shapes, why they remember some facts but forget others, or how they learn
language. Consider some examples; why do marketing executives in large
companies spend so much company money on advertisements? Consider the world
brand Apple, they spend so much of money in advertising their iphone. This is where
cognitive processes takes place in customers. So these a potential customer finally
becomes an actual customer. So from where this persuade comes from? It is all
inside your head. It s the way you perceive something. So lets look into these amazing
cognitive processing phenomena.
When reconsidering about a party, with all those noises and music playing in the
background any person can concentrate on one particular sound specially when
someone is talking to you. Your brain can ignore other noises and focus on the sound
that you just want. But suddenly if someone calls out your name you would
recognize it. This shows how amazing and complex how the brain works. This is
called the cocktail party effect . In cognition psychology all these phenomena will be
explained. Where and when did the study of cognitive psychology begin? Historians

Summary Of Female Characters In The Scarlet Pimpernel
The actress Rebecca Hall once complained, It s not often you get female characters
who don t fit into a box. She is trying to explain that most female characters are only
subject to be boring caricatures and are not allowed to be their own person. Though
these women may be hard to find in classic literature, the novel the Scarlet Pimpernel
contains more than enough interesting female characters within its chapters. The
Scarlet Pimpernel is one of the pieces of classic literature where the women are
written as their own fascinating individuals and not as a character that is forced to,
as Rebecca Hall stated, fit into a box.
An exceptional example of a character with a compelling personality is the
Comtesse de Tournay. (Repeating name)The Comtesse de Tournay s engaging
identity is recognizable in her protectiveness of her family. This is especially true
when she talks about her husband. In the novel, the comtesse finally makes it across
the border but has no other emotions but concern for her husband s well being.
While Sir Andrew Ffoulkes was telling the comtesse to have faith, she began telling
him, Indeed, indeed, Monsieur, ... I have the fullest confidence in you and your
friends. ... But my husband, Monsieur, ... whilst unshed tears seemed to veil her
voice, he is in such deadly peril I would never have left him, only... there were my
children...I was torn between my duty to him, and to them (Orczy 6). (Shorten quote)
This makes it obvious that no matter what

This essay which I would explore is the subculture and expression of teenagers in the late 1950,s known as mods and rockers. The Mods and Rockers rebelled to get recognised out from the crowd. The problems are being seen around that period, with the subcultures in Britain, as teenagers wanted to be different from their parent s way of fashion to partying and to get recognised. The conflict included discussion on social norms but also symbolised fashion freedom. While the approach of the groups may not have been ideal, due to the chaos caused by the two groups, many of them were jailed. The fashion that distinguished each of the groups consisted of suits and smart dressing by the mods, who were working class. Rockers style of dressing, jeans, and leather jackets informed as down market conversely, it has also been utilised as a statement of freedom by those oppressed by government, establishments or regimes. It has also been utilised as a statement of liberty by those oppressed by government, institutions or systems. Buxbaum discusses the idea of fashion as a social phenomenon which links comprehensively to the Mods and Rockers phenomenon. This period gave way to incredible advancement in fashion identity and the economy of fashion. It provides details of certain motivations held by the youth at the time which helps explain some of the shocking sights seen by the British public, and indeed the
  • 3. Textual Analysis Of Hamlet Hamlet is one of Shakespeare s most popular plays to date. It follows the tragic story of the young prince of Denmark and his quest for revenge. Although it is a great play, it is much too out dated for the modern generation to be interested in it and to see the greatness of it. The solution for this would be to create a film that not only exhibits the central themes but also attracts the contemporary teenage audience. To effectively gain their attention, the setting, characters and language would need to be modified. First of all, the setting of Hamlet takes place in Elizabethan times; however, the current teenage audience would not find that setting relatable or interesting. The setting needs to fit with the audience they are targeting and if it is a modern day audience then the setting should reflect that. Furthermore, buildings such as castles are no longer common and the teenage audience would be able to connect more with high schools or colleges more since it very ... Times change and so do the words that people use so it will be hard for a modern day society to understand the passages full of metaphors and allusions relating to Elizabethan times. Additionally, watchers may find the film boring or complex if they do not understand what each character is saying. Conversation is a key aspect in grasping the nature of certain characters and this cannot be done if the watcher does not comprehend it. Additionally, allusions are abundant in Hamlet, but these allusions are now centuries too old. Allusions need to be understood by the audience for the most impact but the ones in Hamlet will not work. For example, It out herods Herod (3.2.14) Herod was known to be a tyrant but that is not common knowledge for someone in this day and age. Language is a major part in Hamlet to progress the story and characters but if the audience does not comprehend it, it is more or less
  • 4. Prosperity Gospel Definition Church and religion are not topics that come up often in my house. I ve never stepped foot in a church. Both of my parents were raised to be very religious, but never wanted that for their children. I was taught that if I worked hard, whether at school or work, my teachers or managers would reward me for it. Prosperity gospel is the belief that, the full blessings of God available to those who approach Him in faith and obedience include wealth, health and power ( The Definition ). Before this project, I don t think I ve ever seen or heard that word. The idea of the prosperity gospel is a hotly debated topic among many people. One person is John Calvin, an author and commentator on the Bible, does not believe in the stereotypical prosperity gospel. The second thing she found is, believers claim their divine right to wealth and health through positive confession, financial offerings, and the persistent faith that God must fulfill his promises (Hladky). She has also found that the faith preachers that teach this topic teach that God only releases this gift when his followers are fully committed and submitted to him (Hladky). The last person I found talking about this topic is a pastor called Rick Henderson. Pastor Rick Henderson is a big skeptic of the prosperity gospel. He believes that the big teachers Joel Osteen and Joyce Meyer are, Teach[ing] a twisted form of Christianity that teaches obedience, giving and faith as a way to get things from God
  • 5. Poverty Divides Justice Poverty Divides Justice The opposite of poverty is not wealth, the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson). Poverty, the state of being inferior in quality or insufficient in amount. During this time period and decades leading to the past, the justice system has consisted of various flaws. One of the imperfections proves that the poor and impoverished are treated unfairly due to their lack of money and ability to be able to speak up for what is ethical. Bryan Stevenson, the author of Just Mercy and an icon for creating justice, writes about stories and cites real life examples of how people have been mistreated due to lack of resources and money. In addition, the New York Times Article, Court by Court, Lawyers Fight Policies That Fall Heavily on the Poor , written by Shaila Dewan, exemplifies the blisters that the court system plays in society and what people are doing at this day and age to reverse these faults and create equality for all. Plus, a New York Times video, Keeping The Poor Out of Jail, created by Kassie Bracken and Jessica Naudziunas, shows real life actions and struggles that an abundance of people are going through within the justice system and the tactics to tear the courts down from their reprehensible actions. All of these sources prove that the moral in the justice system has diminished and needs to be restored in order to create for equality amongst all. Bryan Stevenson, the author of Just Mercy, is a gifted young attorney who founded the Equal Justice Initiative, which is a legal practice dedicated to protecting the rights of the poor and support of the wrongly convicted. One of his main cases that proves that the opposite of poverty is not wealth, the opposite of poverty is justice (Stevenson). This case is comprised of Walter McMillian who was victimized due to the color of his skin and cruel punishment of the justice system (Stevenson). Parallel to that of the book To Kill a Mockingbird , Walter McMillian was charged with the murder of a white young women in Monroeville Alabama. McMillian cut timber for a living and therefore did not have any extra money to spend trying to redeem himself of his freedom. In addition, there was no tangible evidence proposed against Mr.

They often form almost pure stands encompassing tens of thousands of acres at elevations above 6500 feet in the southern area. Located southwest of Flagstaff to the White Mountains of eastern Arizona, the Mogollon Rim comprises the southern edge of the Colorado Plateauin Arizona. The escarpment reaches close to 200 miles across central Arizona, with an average elevation of approximately 7000 feet. It contains the largest ponderosa pine forestin the United States. • 7. Should Juveniles be Tried in the Adult Criminal Justice... Imagine sitting in a courtroom, hoping the the judge will not give a harsh sentence. Unfortunately, that s the case for many juveniles, some as young as 13! A juvenile is subject to a more severe sentence with the limited sentencing available. It is estimated that 250,000 youth are prosecuted as adults, each year. This number should change, as juveniles are not adults, both mentally and physically. Juveniles need an environment surrounded with guiding adults, education and the resources to help them. A juvenile is not an adult, and should not be tried as one. The environment in adult facilities is immensely different from juvenile facilities. Rehabilitation options are limited in adult facilities. It is hard for children to fit in with adults, or even be respected. Lack of attention and bullying are both major problems for juveniles in prison (Human Rights Watch). Juveniles in prison have a 18x greater risk of committing suicide, due to lack of supervision (Juvenile Forensic Evaluation Center) However, juvenile facilities provide higher quality education, adequate health care, and better security. 70% of juveniles are held under locked situations, rather than staff secure settings (Juvenile Forensic Evaluation Center). This decreases the amount of violence between juveniles and the staff. Since depression is a common health issue, juvenile facilities often have treatment available. Giving a juvenile the resources to help, can really benefit them at this

Brand Identity And Marketing Messages Brand Identity and Marketing Messages Before launching a product or marketing a message, many ideas for brand identity, such as artistic logos and clever jingles to draw in the consumer and become memorable, stay on the presentation board in the marketing executive s office. For the wildly successful product marketing that basks in a near cult following, such as Coke, Apple, or McDonalds, there are the utter failures such as the Gremlin, the Susan B. Addiction is defined as the state of being enslaved to a habit or practice or to something that is psychologically or physically habit forming, as narcotics, to such an extent that its cessation causes severe trauma. (Dictionary.com, 2002) Last Monday, I had the opportunity to observe an open Alcoholics Anonymoussession at Calvary Chapel in Reynoldsburg, Ohio. Upon arrival, there were two people already there. One lady appeared to be the facilitator as she was seated at a table with sign in sheets and class material. I quickly introduced myself and explained that I was there to observe as a class assignment. She warmly welcomed me, handed me some reading material and offered me to sit where I pleased. The room was located in the multipurpose room of the church. There were no windows, just an assortment of chairs positioned in a circle for easy discussion. While waiting for the others to trickle in, I was educated that the weekly sessions were formed for addicts to discuss their journey of addiction, and to provide and receive support for their decision to remain sober. The meeting opened with group facilitator making everyone aware that I was a student observer that would be observing for the night. I was asked to introduce myself and I also agreed to keep their stories and names anonymous when writing this paper. It somewhat felt awkward as the outsider, but

Meaning Of Dreams By Descartes While describing dreams, Descartes writes: How do we know that the mental states that come to us in dreams are any more false than the others, seeing that they are often just as lively and sharp...For, in the first place, what I took just now as a rule, namely that whatever we conceive very vividly and clearly is true, is assured only because God exists and is a perfect being, and because everything in us comes from him. (Descartes 17). In this text, Descartes first categories dreams as false but lively and sharp , yet asserts immediately afterwards that whatever we conceive vividly must be true (17). At first glance this is very confusing, because he seems to say that dreams are both true and false. This contradiction is later clarified, however, when he mentions that our reasoning when asleep is not as complete as when we are awake (18). Perhaps dreams are misleading not as a result of their content, but because we lose our rationality while asleep and have a harder time comprehending what we perceive. Being asleep is like reading a book in hieroglyphic script, and being awake is doing so with the Rosetta Stone. The two states are equally as valid, yet it still easier to understand the natural world when equipped with reason, than it is to understand dreams without. Al Ghazali points out that a state may arise that bears the same relation to the waking state as waking state does to dream . This of course is the mystic state. As was demonstrated earlier, reaching this

Basketball s History And The History Of Basketball The game of basketball as it is known today was created by Dr. James Naismith in December 1891 in Springfield, Massachusetts to condition young athletes during cold months. It consisted of peach baskets and a soccer style ball. The game became established quickly and grew very popular as the 20th century progressed, first in America and then throughout the world. After basketballbecame established in American colleges, the professional game followed. The American National Basketball Association (NBA), established in 1946, grew to a multibillion dollar enterprise by the end of the century, and basketball became an integral part of American culture. This game is now played by more than 250 million people worldwide in an organized fashion, as well as by countless others in pick up games. Basketball originated in 1891 when a future Presbyterian minister named James Naismithwas assigned to teach a physical education class at a Young Men s Christian Association (YMCA) training school in Springfield, Massachusetts. The first professional league was in 1898. Players that wanted to play earned $2.50 every home game they played and $1.25 for an away game. A player on the Washington Bullets which are now called the Washington Wizards, had offers of more than 100 million dollars in over seven seasons on the Washington Bullets and the Miami Heat. A lot of teams in the NBA now have players from different countries, who return home to represent their native countries during the Olympic Games. The focus of this essay has been narrowed down to just the prostitution aspect of sex work and the decriminalization for the means of creating a safer environment for the worker. Decriminalization of this particular type of sex work would render the job safer for the workers given that they would have the ability to screen clients, an established place of employment, safety in numbers, a positive relationship with law enforcement, and enhanced means to protect themselves from health risks. Screening of the clients is a key aspect of keeping the sex workers safe. Screening the clients is a lot about reading people, their clothes, their attitude, how they hold themselves and trusting the experience of the worker s instinct. The screening process will not work every single time, however, the ability to make the decision to go with a client or not can save the workers life. Escorts and

I wanted to conduct a survey to find out if this was true. Sleep is very important for someone to function properly throughout their daily lives. The longer you stay awake, the more you will feel tired, because of your internal biological clock, the circadian rhythm. Sleep helps us to regenerate our bodies from the previous day, helping us recuperate. It also helps to restore and rebuild our memories of our experiences of the day. He does this through descriptive metaphors describing the sensation of floating alone above the earth. Through the eyes of someone who sees the world as being a cold, sorrowful place. This is the majority of the poem because the narrator thinks it is most important that the young girl understands she has still has five siblings, despite two of them have passed and, their graves are green, they may be seen (Line 37). The girl is only eight years of age and she understands that her deceased siblings are still her siblings even though they are not still living. Making sure she understands she still has five siblings is exactly what the narrator s goal is, but the narrator is pretending to believe they are only five. Body Camera Essay Robert Goodell November 20, 2016 Dr. Martin Body Camera Research Project The issue of wearing body camera s with police officers in the United States is currently a controversial topic and requires further analysis. In current events, such as the killings of minority men Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by the police; have the public up in arms. Incidents such as these only drive the debate more and more on why police officers should be required to wear body cameras. Many police officers however do not feel they need to wear them and feel it might impair their ability to do their job efficiently. It is an ongoing process and a learning one at that, so it s important to be patient. I do believe it is a step in the right direction for officers to be required to wear body cameras because as we can see from the statistics it only improves there conduct out in the field. I understand there is issues with the cameras and disclosure of the footage, but eliminating the whole idea for those reasons just seems redundant. If wearing these cameras is going to hold police officers to the standards they should be held to then so be it. I feel people have the idea the police are somehow above the law, but when it comes to their conduct always being in check that might change people s perception. Anything that can be done to strengthen the bond between people and law enforcement should be done. Implementing body cameras in law enforcement across the United States, I believe the positives that come from them will far outweigh the negatives. Nothing in the justice system is perfect and when it comes to using these cameras I believe it will help to justify decisions being made by police officers across the United States. Having some sort of visual evidence from these encounters is only going to help serve the people the justice that they

The Victorians have made a sidewall to inner and sometimes outer world, becoming mediocre in thinking and acting. The aim of this essay consists in illustrating various aspects that were taken over from Victorians and ingeniously rearranged by A.S. On the one hand, it was quite unusual for a man who lived in the Victorian era to be so sensitive to female s feelings, to offer her his unconditionally love and compassion, and to be so open minded that he is seen as a poor fish by narrow minded people. Goal Observe and record what happens when enzymes (chicken) are added to different amounts of acid (hydrogen peroxide) mixed with water. The activity level of these enzymes will differ and be dependent upon several factors, such as consistency, size and shape of the molecule. Specific factor will be the concentration enzyme and substrate. I will conduct a controlled experiment to determine the influence of pH on the enzyme catalase and the release of oxygen. Hypothesis Acidic fluid on an enzymatic would react in different ways based on the strength of the acid solution. The stronger the acid solution, there will be more of a reaction and the stronger the base solution, there will be less of the reaction. Pre lab Hypothesis 1.What do you expect to happen when an enzyme is added to an acid? a.The acid will cause the enzyme to release oxygen in the form of bubbles and will eventually dissolve the enzyme if given a long enough time frame. 2.Is Hydrogen Peroxide an acid or a base? Why? a.Hydrogen Peroxide is a weak acid with PH level of 6.2, but it is still an acid. 3.What would happen if a stronger base ratio compared to a stronger acid ratio was used? a.There would not be much of a reaction at all because the base does not have a strong enough PH level to break down the enzymes. 4.Which solution between the acid and the base do I

One in ten soldiers on both sides were wounded or killed. At its height, hostilities threatened to push the recently arrived English colonists back to the coast. Though there were many events that led to the war, the attack on the settlement on the banks of the Kickemuit River may be attributed to the growing perception that Indian land had been increasingly encroached upon by settlers, leaving cornfields overrun by settlers livestock and traditional hunting grounds inaccessible. In fact, since the arrival of the English at Plymouth Rock in 1620, land under Native control had been reduced from all of Southeastern Massachusetts to merely the area of the Mount Hope peninsula. (A map and local points related to the war can be found at http://drweed.home.mindspring.com/kingphilip.htm.) Less than a week later, authorities in Rhode Island, Plymouth, and Massachusetts attempted negotiation with Philip, and sought guarantees of fidelity from the Nipmucks and Narragansetts. Morte Darthur Chivalry Analysis Ricardo Leal Professor Marilupe Delgado ENGL 2123 2003 9/26/17 Chivalry in Morte Darthur Chivalry is in this era is normally looked at as an attitude or a mindset men should adopt as being courteous to women. Such as holding the door, letting them through first and so on and so forth. In the Tale of Morte Darthur chivalry was much more than that, Chivalry was a code a lifestyle that men and knights in medieval times would adopt where their beliefs, morals, religion and social code were directly influenced. Chivalry was very important because it gave the knights character. Characters in this story such as King Arthurand Lancelot are key components to the concept of chivalry in this story as they are directly influenced by the concept. The importance of Chivalry is ingrained within the Round Table of King Arthur from the knights by reciting and pledging themselves to the vows of knighthood at Pentecost ,as it is mentioned in Morte Darthur by vowing to protect women and to flee from treason and murder . An integral part in Chivalry that is described is honor. Honor is established in this story when King Arthur creates his Round Table and the members follow the code of chivalry. Arthur s knights pledge honor to the king, but above all they must serve and honor God, who plays as a moral compass for the characters in the story . The Knights of the Round Table all fought to honor the king, in all of their journeys and battles. But they use this code to their own benefit at times and more often than not it backfires on them. Characters in this story acted upon these beliefs and instilled them into their everyday lives. King Arthur is King Uthers heir and rightful King of Camelot in this story. Throughout the story, Arthur acts with the intent of Honor and Chivalry in his life and through his reign as king. When he is crowned king, he promises the people of his kingdom to be a true king by and his loyalty as quoted in Morte Darthur And there was he sworn unto his lords and the commons for to be a true king, to stand with true justice for henceforth the days of this life.
