What Is The Value Of Life
Michel de Montaigne explained that the value of life lies not in the length of days,
but in the use we make of them. This quote sums up many peoples exact feelings
about the value of living, what it means, and who really appreciates it. Our society
has become obsessed with putting a monetary worth on everything we do, even the
most precious of things. Life is one of the few things that you cannot put any price
on, despite what others might believe. Memories and what they mean to those who
have made them are priceless, so why should a legal character determine what the
value of our lives have been, when all it sees is the way that we have died, rather
than the worth of what we have lived. Hamlet, Roger Ebert, and Kenneth Feinberg all
felt differently about their thoughts on life, but in the end, a life is a life, and that is
something all people can agree on. Roger Ebert was a man whose faith wavered
from the beginning to the end of his life, he stated that he no longer believed in God
at the time of his death, and it seems that those who are not god fearing do not
worry themselves about death as much as someone who is religious. Personally I
have always felt that atheists value life more than religious people; those who are
religious figure that they can fix whatever they have ruined in their current life, in
the afterlife when they see their God, which is not exactly an ideal way to live.
Typically, when plagued with diseases like AIDS, or Cancer, the victims realize

Dumbledore? Whose force was more powerful? I will be discussing and also
comparing the books Lord of The Rings by J.R.R Tolkien and Harry Potter by J.K

series was better?
The Lord of The Rings series is set in the age of middle earth which is around 6,000
years before present day. In the series the region is called Eriador which include
lands of the shire which the hobbits occupy, and where some elves live. There is no

main character travels through the valley with companions to destroy the ring.

NestlГ©, a Swiss multinational corporation, markets bottled water under various
brand names. It runs 29 bottling plants across the United States and had revenue of
$4.1 billion in 2014. (CHANGE STAT TO 2015 and CITE waiting to hear back

right to bottle and sell water from Oxbow Spring, located in Cascade Locks, Oregon.
NestlГ© s plans are to build a $50 million, 250,000 square foot bottling facility in
Cascade Locks. This would involve an exchange of water between Oregon
Department of Fish and Wildlife and Cascade Locks. Oregonian reporter Kelly
House explains Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife agreed to trade a portion
of its water right at Oxbow Springs to Cascade Locks in exchange for an equal
portion of the city s municipal supply. Cascade Locks would then sell the spring
water to Nestle as a municipal water customer at a discounted rate than what
Cascade Locks residents pay (Oregonian, Ballot). The exchange would allow the
city to access up to 225 gallons per minute from Oxbow Springs to sell to Nestle.
That s about 5 percent of the state s water right to the springs (OPB). There were
many opponents of Nestle building a giant plant in Cascade Locks and bottling our

Nursing Theory In Nursing
Individualized Attention The application of nursing theories to the nursing care
practice promotes the structure of care. It intensifies the importance of an individual
in need and facilitates the environment of healing. By integrating the major nursing
theories into the daily nursing routine in the hospitals or the community, and
understanding their meaning, nursing profession flourishes as a unique science
separate from the discipline of law. One of the theories looked at is
humanbecoming by Rosemarie Rizzo Parse. As Smith Parker, (2015) explains,
humanbecoming nurses involvement in the care of the patient is influenced by the
utmost importance that arise from the point of view of their patient at that
particular time. The nurse then and recognizes the wishes, benefits and desires of
the patient and prioritizes her care in such a way. The Portray of Humanbecoming
According to Rosemarie Rizzo Parse the goal or the definition of humanbecoming,
is to learn and appreciate the significance of living encounters (Smith Parker,
2015). The nurse is there to learn from the individuals cared for, what is the
meaning of their experience. It is derived from a circumstance, and based
completely on their point of view. It is the patient and their family who take the
leading role. The nurse is there to guide this exclusive experience by connecting
through a dialogue or simple silence by the method called true prescience (Smith
Parker 2015). While Ben is grieving the near death
Diversity Vs Uniformity Essay
For most of my childhood, I grew up in very diverse schools. Ever since I moved to
public schools in my 4th grade year, I grew to know diversity very well. In my
younger years, I thought very little of it, but in my older years as a high schooler, I
ve grown to be proud of it. While some people believe that diversity is now
encouraged more than uniformity, it can be argued that they work hand in hand
because diversity can create uniformity and this can even create individuality. When
a society is uniform, they are equal, stable, united, and relatable to each other. That
being said, how exactly is diversity being encouraged more than uniformity?
Diversity creates uniformity, it doesn t counter it. Without diversity, no one will be
identified by others other than as their ethnicity. This leads to separation, which
leads to anything but uniformity. An author named Rodrigues states in Aria: A
Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood, Full individuality is achieved, paradoxically, by
those who are able to consider themselves members of the crowd. Thus it happened
for me: only when I was able to think of myself as an American, no longer an alien in
gringo society, could I seek the rights and opportunities necessary for public
individuality... America is known as the melting potfor a reason, and Rodrigues
speaks of this clearly; you cannot achieve individuality if you stick to classifying
yourself among a group. Diversity identifies us all as one humanrace, allowing us to
be our
I Want To Be Opening Page
1. Opening Credits I Don t Want To Be by Gavin DeGraw I chose this specific song
as my opening credits because it is one of my favorite songs from my favorite TV
show, One Tree Hill. Every time I watched this show on Netflix, I never skipped
the intro because of this song. It always has a way of putting me in a good mood
and singing to the top of my lungs. The beat isn t the only thing that draws me to
this song, the lyrics have such a positive meaning describing how I can be anything
I want to be. In high school it s all about deciding what you want to be when you
graduate and for many of us, that s a hard decision. At this age, many of us don t
even know our own selves. After going through 4 years of high school, I learned alot
about me and who I want to be. Well all I want to be is me. 2. Waking Up Wake Me

it, we looked it up on our phones and put it on reply so we could learn the lyrics.
Every time I hear this song I just want to sing it to the top of my lungs. The
meaning behind it relates to me so much cause every time I see my ex I tried to
make it seem I was better off without him, but deep down I was hurting. This song
just has a way of describing how I felt after my first breakup and making it into
great hit on the radio. So, anytime someone sees me driving around town, I will

Ore-Ida Tater Tot Analysis
What is so Special about Ore Ida Tater Tots? There are many techniques that
advertisers use in the creation of advertisements in order to catch people s
attention and spark their interest in a certain product. Advertising influences
people using pictures, humor, and the psychological need for food. However,
these are not always successful tactics for initiating interest in purchasing an item.
An advertisement promoting Ore Ida tater tots is one example of a company who
incorporated those various techniques, but in my opinion was not very successful.
A young girl with a skeptical look on her face is pictured sitting at a table, holding
up a white piece of paper with one hand. There are horizontal lines drawn on the
paper half an inch apart. Sitting just in front of the paper, on a plate, are four tater
tots dressed in various costumes. One is dressed as a pirate with an eye patch while
the other resembles a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Instead of sparking people s interest in those ways, the tater tot ad uses pictures,
humor, and the psychological need for food. The use of pictures and humor in this
advertisement essentially go hand in hand. In order to fully understand the humor,
you must see the picture of the tater tots in the suspect line up. In Fowles article, he
discusses the effect that images have on viewers of advertisements. He states, Some
few ads have their emotional appeal in the text, but for the greater number by far the
appeal is contained in the artwork. This makes sense, since visual communication
better suits more primal levels of the brain (Fowles 75). Even without reading the
words on the ad, the image was successful in grabbing my attention. It is an amusing
image that is not very often seen so I was curious and wanted to read more about
Essay on Conflict in All My Sons
Conflict in All My Sons
The conflict in the play All My Sons in embodied by two different sets of values. The
older generation represented by Joe and Kate strongly believed in family values and
Pursue of the American dream at any cost. In contradiction, Joe and Anne express the
younger generation s ethics and ideals clearly shown in the thoughts of idealism that
money is not the most important thing in life. Even though the younger generation s
ideals are sometimes thought of as being irrational and in conflict with reality, all
throughout the play their validity is greater.
Many times in parents child relationships the parents have a very different view on
things than the child they had raised. Most of these gaps are ... Show more content on

The readers of the play know that even though Chris thought about it in a moment of
weakness he would not forget his ethics and therefore would never do something
that he believes to be wrong. There is no point of Chris trying to change his mind
because the passion he speaks in about these ideals will never die.
Chris and Anne did not have their own family yet, which was an excuse for the older
generation to contradict them although they knew the difference between right
and wrong. In this play the word father to Chris means righteousness and integrity.
If one cannot look beyond one s personal circle they are condemned to an ending
that is a tragic moment of realization that may bring an ending similar to Joe s.
Another morality issue, which Chris has to deal with in regards to his father in
taking responsibility. It is possible that Chris would have shown signs of
forgiveness if Joe were to take responsibility for his actions. Instead of doing so
once again he was hiding behind doing good only for the benefits of his inner
circle. There s nothing he could do that I wouldn t forgive. Because he s my son.
Because I m his father and he s my son. In these words Keller expresses his own
optimism that no matter what he is to do Chris will always understand, and forgive.
That was not the case. If Keller could not forgive himself, why did he believe that
Chris would ever be able to forgive
I Love Alzheimer s Research Paper
Why I chose This Topic I ve always loved the holidays. It s a mostly stress free
nostalgic time to enjoy with friends and loved ones. Best of all, holidays normally
mean gifts and plenty of good food! The celebrations are great, but it seems that at
most every family Christmas or Thanksgiving, we are on the edge of our seats and
nervous. I ve found that I am unable to concentrate on the festivities because my
mind is wandering, thinking of our other loved ones. Since I can remember, we
have always had a family member plagued with cancer, tumors, or other grave
diseases. That being said, the ailment I ve feared most is Alzheimer s. I ve seen too
many loved ones forget their relatives and eventually their spouses because of this
disease. I am... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of my main questions was whether I could do anything emotionally to cope
with Alzheimer s and with that search I had better luck. One of my favorite pieces
of information I found was to face your feelings head on think of all
emotions...positive and negative...be as sad as you want...work through anger and
frustration...these are healthy feelings...it s common to feel love and anger at the
same time Taken from a paper published on ( Alzheimer s Association website ).
The next thing I found that helped me personally was how to deal with guilt,
personally I ve experienced feeling guilty when taking a break or not being there
for my grandma when she needed me, as well as regretting things I had done
before knowing about the illness. Something interesting I found that I would ve
never thought of was to continue to participate in as many activities as possible.(
Alzheimer s Association pg. ) I also found that a good way to keep an emotional
connection longer is to personally connect with the sufferer. A few ways to do that
is to keep eye contact with throughout the conversation, to always refer to them by
name when talking, continue the conversation as long as possible because is
makes the person with AD feel better about themselves, and be aware of the body

The Was The Messiah A Little Differently Than Jesus
The Jews pictured the Messiah a little differently than Jesus. Some Jews could have
missed Jesus if you had picture painted of what you thought the Messiah would be
like, you might end up passing them by. the Jews had already made up their minds
of who the Messiah was going to be, therefore, they missed who He actually was,
along with the message that He brought. Now knowing this, it s easier to understand
the reasoning behind why the Jews may have denied Jesusas the Messiah. The
Messiah the jew were looking for, was the anointed one, similar to the Messiah.
Instead, they were looking for an all powerful ruler/ political leader, or king that

Race for Nuclear Arms and Power
Harry Truman (1884 1972) was the most influential person in the race for the super
bomb. As President Roosevelt s Vice President, he knew nothing about the
development of the atomic bomb. But within months of assuming the office of
President of the United States on April 12, 1945, he became the first and only
American leader to authorize the use of atomic weapons against an enemy target.
Truman s era only marked the beginning of the race for nuclear weapons. The

About an hour and a half later a gritty, snow like substance began raining down on
a Japanese fishing vessel called the Lucky Dragon that was about 80 miles east of

Three Major Problems of Global Politics
Final Exam Paper Decision making is a complex process that is influenced by
many different factors. Three major factors that affect global politics today include
free ridership, groupthink, and shadow of the past. These are problems that are
central to scholars of I.R., and serve as obstacles to achieving cooperation among
countries. To better understand the impact of these issues, it will be necessary to
assess why each is important, and the theories that offer the best explanations of their
presence. By analyzing these aspects, reaching possible solutions will be much more
attainable and the more clear it will become as to how these problems are
interconnected with each other. Nearly interchangeable to the term freeloader, free
ridership occurs when people take advantage of something without contributing any
amount of work themselves. Every I.R. scholar is familiar with this term as well as is
familiar with the problems it can produce in the international arena. One of the most
clearly seen examples of free ridership is the environment. Some countries such as
Switzerland and Iceland have elected to invest greatly in renewable energy and have
since experienced many benefits from such measures. There also exists, however,
many countries of the world that do very little to support the environment. China and
the United States, the two richest countries in the world are also among the most
environmentally destructive countries. But why would the world s richest countries do

Brown v. The Board of Education Topeka, Kansas, 1950, a young African

crossing a railroad switchyard. She lived seven blocks from an all white school.
Linda s father, Oliver, tried to enroll her into the all white school. The school

our nation. Blacks believed that the separate but equal saying was false. They felt
that whites had more educational opportunities. Mr. Brown, along with the NAACP

The Board of Education case and the events leading up to it had a positive effect on

The Board of Education case were segregated. The Plessy v. Ferguson decision of

whites are separated in all areas of society, including education( Supreme Court

schools were legal, they were never equal(Walker). There was a lack of educational
and equal rights in African American communist(Walker). By the 1950 s, the African
American communities were fed up with not having the same educational rights and
opportunities as white americans. An African American team, lead by Thurgood

The Bond Between Man And Animals In Life Of Pi By Yann
Martel
The Bond Between Man and Animal
The book Life of Pi by Yann Martel shows the relationship between man and animal.
When humans interact with animals, either a positive or negative relationship is
formed. With many types of animals this bond improves the quality of life for the
person. However, when this bond is broken, such as when a pet dies or is lost, the
person suffers unfavorable side effects.
The bond between man and animal has existed ever since man and animal were
created. As time evolved, so did the bond between the two types of creatures.
Originally, animals were only seen as food or predators. However, they soon evolved
into work animals, and eventually the animals were kept for companionship, rather
than work. Humans learned the value of companionship with animals.
Two animals that have been majorly affected by this transformation were the dog and
the cat. In the beginning, dogs were used for ВЁherding, pulling power, hunting,
tracking, or protectionВЁ (Wiebe). Cats were ВЁkept to hunt down and kill
intruding mice or ratsВЁ (Wiebe). In present day, these two types, along with many
others, are kept for companionship and entertainment. While some places in the
world still have work dogs and cats, they are now mostly known as pets. In addition,
many other types of animals have developed an affinity with humans.
The concept of pets as companions is used throughout Life of Pi, as Richard Parker
turns into a pet for Pi. While Richard Parker is still an untamed animal, he is under
Pi s control, for the most part. Pi manipulates Richard Parker by training him with a
whistle, keeping him at bay and reducing the risk of attack from Richard Parker
(260). At this point, the bond is still forming and is not fully developed. Because Pi is
stuck on the lifeboat without traditional companionship, he turns to Richard Parker as
a substitute. The bond grows stronger the longer they are together. The level of
communication Pi has with the tiger helps keep him sane. They learn to live together
and respect each other s territory. For their survival, they must depend upon each
other. The challenges they face help strengthen the bond until the point where Pi feels
a deep connection to the animal.

Essay on The Triangular Silas Marner
The Triangular Silas Marner
As a result of betrayal, Silas Marner of George Eliot s so titled novel becomes a man
in body without incurring any of the duties normally associated with nineteenth
century working class adults. Eliot creates these unusual circumstances by framing
our title hero so it appears to his comrades that he has stolen money. Thereby, she
effectively rejects innocent Marner from his community and causes him to lose his
fiancГ©. At this pivotal moment in Marner s life, just as he is about to assume fully
the role of a man, depended upon as such by his neighbors, future wife and probable
children, he is excised and does not successfully complete the transformation.
Accordingly, he moves on to a new ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, I do not think that Silas Marner s endorsement of family values is nearly as
straightforward as Nunokawa makes it out to be. In fact, Eliot s stance on the family
unit is three pronged. Nunokawa s reduction of Silas Marner to a dichotomy ignores
the middle ground that Eliot ultimately recommends as the key to a life with a happy
ending.
In order to demonstrate this, I must first show that none of the families in Silas
Marner (with the exception of Silas own) are totally happy. In accord with
Nunokawa, I will start with the uncomplicated melancholy of Squire Cass male only
family. Eliot candidly tells her reader that Red House [the Squire s residence] was
without the presence of the wife and mother which is the fountain of wholesome love
and fear in parlour and kitchen (Eliot 22). Immediately, Eliot prepares her reader for
an unhappy, incomplete group of inhabitants. The only scene between father and
eldest son is both awkward and unkind, showing the attitude of life within the
motherless house. The one scene in the novel between two brothers, Godfrey, the
eldest, and his next younger brother, Dunsey, mocks the notion of brotherly love,
depicting it as actually blackmail via brotherly knowledge (Eliot 24).
The brother scene calls to mind the next well respected family in Raveloe, the
Lammeters.

What Is My Journey To Music Essay
Picking up a new instrument or musical skill may not be the first thing that appeals

may seem too challenging to start at this stage of life.
After all, those of us who have put in many years in the workforce are probably

Superman And Me Essay
We have looked at different issues through different essays during the class. We
have examined stereotypes, complaining, compassion, integrity, differences and
similarities in people. We have seen that there are common traits that make a
person good in both Western and Eastern culture. .Respect, empathy, compassion
and integrity. In All I asking for is my body we follow a first and second
generation Japanese family living in Hawaii before WW2. Many old customs are in
place as are new cultures are forming. Several questions have come up in regard to
this transition of cultures. Are people who move from one cultureto another still
obligated in a new country to abide by old customs? Are there some customs and
traditions that are needed to survive? Are there other customs that should be left to
the discretion of the persons involved? In the book, All I asking for is my body ,

I began to think of everything in terms of paragraphs. Each family member existed
as separated paragraphs but still had genetics to link us. This is not the case of
Toshio and Kiyoshi. Using Alexie s example of paragraphs to define different
family members, it would be easy to see that the Oyama family from grandparents
to grandchildren would be one run on paragraph. It is probably more like a
pyramid with Grandfather at the top and the persons paying the debt on the
bottom. I believe this debt inherited by them is not an honor but a way out for
someone higher up on the food chain. It does not seem fair that this obligation is
put on someone before they are born. How can this ever be fair? Because the family
bought into it it is assumed it is the best for those not yet born to pay? I believe

Punishment Based Interventions
Punishment Based interventions are types of treatment that is sometime used in the
field of Applied Behavior Analysisto modify or change behaviors. There is a quite a
bit of controversy and misunderstanding related to use of punishment. Punishment
based interventions have been proven to be one of the most controversial treatments
used by behavior analyst and found in behavior analyst literature (e.g. Johnston,
1991; Matson Kazdin, 1981; Repp Singh, 1990) (DiGennaro Reed, Lovett, 2008). The
definition itself is many times confused or lack understanding. Cooper, Heron, and
Heward (2006) explain that punishment frequently misunderstood, misapplied and
quite controversial. There are some therapists or behavior analysts, parents,
caregivers, teachers, and people in general who support punishment and some who do
not (Hall, 2013). Although there is a lot of controversy about whether to use
punishment or not, punishment is indeed still sometimes used in the field of applied
behavior analysis, but there are special guidelines for using punishment based
procedures in the field. Before a behavior analyst can decide whether or not they want
to use punishment in an intervention, they must clearly understand the definition

Gender Roles Seen in Toys Essay
Gender Roles and Toys

Professor Solomon
One room has pretty pink wallpaper with a princess border; the other is blue with
monster trucks on one wall and sports pictures on another. It is not hard to tell which
room is female and which room is male. Male and female are used in this instance to
define genders. Gender, unlike sex, is a universal guideline upon which individuals
are placed. Gender refers to the socially constructed roles, behavior, and activities
that a particular society considers appropriate for men and women. When the
pressure of gender stereotypes is open to debate some say there are prenatal
influences that are gender based. What is obvious is that gender plays a significant ...

Bandura s Social Learning Theory says, human behavior is transmitted, whether
deliberately or inadvertently, largely through exposure to social models (Bandura
1). When a child thinks that a behavior will be punished versus rewarded but
instead is not even acknowledged they will perceive it as a reward. Children
usually continue rewarded behavior to receive more praise. Television is seen as a
super tutor to Bandura, the child will model what they see on television, not
knowing if it is good or bad. For those children whose parents are not good role
models, the television becomes the behavioral role model. If violence and
aggression is viewed on the television, it is more likely that children will engage in
violent and aggressive behavior. While television can model appropriate behavior,
there is a well documented tendency for violence and aggression. Advertisements are
difficult to avoid since they are interwoven in shows and they tend to emphasize
violent and aggressive behavior (Kilinger 13). In the study by Kilinger, Hamilton and
Cantrell they observed children s perceptions of aggressive content, stereotypic sex
role behavior, and appropriateness of television toy commercials (Kilinger, 11). The
results of the study support the notion that there is a gender bias in terms of
aggressive content and consequently aggression potential. The results did show

The American Flag Outside Of The Convention Center
Essay
FACTS: After publicly burning the American flag outside of the convention center in
Dallas,
Texas, where the 1984 Republican National Convention was being held, Gregory
Lee Johnson, the defendant, was convicted of desecrating a flag in violation of
Texas law. Johnson burned the flag to protest the policies of President Ronald
Reagan. He was sentenced to one year in prison and was given a $2,000 fine. A
Texas court tried and convicted Johnson but he then appealed, arguing that burning
the American flag was symbolic speech and was protected by the First
Amendment. The Supreme Court agreed to hear his case.
ISSUE: Does convicting a citizen for burning the American flag violate the symbolic
speech clause protected by the First Amendment of the United States Constitution?
REASONING: Brennan: The First Amendment of the Unites States Constitution
guarantees freedom of speech and freedom of expression. The act for which the
appellant was convicted was clearly speech contemplated by the First Amendment.
Recognizing that the right to differ is the centerpiece of our First Amendment
freedoms , a government cannot mandate a feeling of unity in its citizens. Therefore,
the government also cannot carve out a symbol of unity and prescribe a set of
approved messages to be associated with that symbol when it cannot mandate the
status or feeling the symbol purports to represent. In the case of Spence v.
Washington in 1974, it was ruled that it was a violation of the First
How Does Steinbeck Use Symbols In The Chrysanthemums
John Steinbeck s theme in the Chrysanthemums is to show the discrimination
between men and women and the need for sexual contentment. John Steinbeck uses
symbolism throughout his story in different objects, places, and characters. Some of
these symbols were the chrysanthemums, the Salinas Valley, and Elisa herself.
Steinbeck uses the chrysanthemums to symbolize Elisa s sexuality and femininity,
the Salinas Valley to symbolize her dull and emotional life, and finally Elisa s
manliness to show how no one has appreciated her feminine side. The first symbol
that Steinbeck uses to put more emphasis on his theme are the chrysanthemums. The
chrysanthemums are are a symbol of Elisa s sexuality and femininity. Elisa is not

Throughout the story, the author presents Elisa s characteristics as very manly.

after the tinker talked to her, she felt emotionally and physically triggered. She

home, bathes herself, and looks at her naked body in the mirror. This shows the
reader that although Elisa is seen gardening like a man in a heavy outfit at first, she
is a women after all who wants her physical needs to be fulfilled. The author
mentions that after the tinker left, she began to dress, slowly. She put on her newest
underclothing and her nicest stockings and the dress which was the symbol of her
prettiness. She worked carefully on her hair, pencilled her eyebrows and rouged her
lips. From this quote, the reader can better understand how Elisa is badly in need of

arrogance, that individual may have a Narcissistic Personality Disorder or NPD.
Narcissus, a Greek mythological character, fell in love with his reflection in the
water and could never pull himself away, so he ended up dying right beside the

than 1% of the American population and it occurs more in men than women

Narcissists ruin the bonds that kept the relationships together creating negative
impacts on their social, family, and work life (Cherry 1). Narcissists create
unrealistic goals and images of themselves, clouding their thought process and
reasoning (Nakate 1). The behavioral issues can generate conflict with the people
who are really close to them. This personality disorder can be caused by how the
child was raised and their own personal feelings. A person with a low self esteem is
the most common reason why narcissism begins (Thomas 1). If they feel
uncomfortable or inferior in a situation a narcissist will immediately beef up their
image and self worth to make them feel superior again (Thomas 1). Narcissists
become very defensive when people question their accomplishments or talents
because they have to try and keep their ego and image safe (Thomas 1). Another
aspect that contributes to narcissism is the way the parents raised the child.
Permissive parenting encourages the child to rely completely on themselves, so they
have to be independent (Thomas 1). With this type of parenting there usually are not
any guidelines or rules for the kid to follow so they would eventually develop the
Goodwin 3 understanding the rules do not apply to them, letting them do as they

A Research On Meadow Hills Hospital
Meadow Hills Hospital is a two hundred bed hospital with a large Medical Staff that
serves a population of three hundred thousand. It is one of four similar hospitals in
the region. They do not currently have an EHR, but they re financial systems are
well developed. They have a good amount of money in reserve to spend on any
solution they feel is needed. Historically, their IT function has reported up through
the Chief Financial Officer. This has led to their financial systems being well
developed. But, their Clinical systems are significantly less developed. Clinicians
have been ok with this arrangement. Not having more advanced clinical systems has
allowed them to develop and maintain processes that they are comfortable with. This
is a comfort for the clinicians, but is likely costing the organization money as
records are paper based, not electronic. Also, as they have no CPOE installed, they
are not performing the safety checks, such as drug interaction that can come with
those systems. This is placing an unnecessary risk on patients. Developing an IT
Strategy for Meadow Hills Hospitalwould likely revolve around bolstering the
clinical side of IT. An IT Strategy would assist the organization in knowing how and
where to invest the money stored in their reserves. This can also ensure that their IT
goals are in line with their overall organization goals. As they are currently
organized, IT reports up to the CFO. This is a formula to ensure that IT goals

When his testament is released, it is revealed that Sicily is left to a Bourbon
(Spanish Bourbon family line) who is the grandson of King Louis XIV, Philip V.
However, an international congressional group in Europe gave Sicily to the Duke of

Sicily went through five years of his rule, then through fourteen years, until 1734,
under the last Austrian Hapsburg in Sicily, and finally landed under the ruling
Spanish Bourbon family.
Charles III of the Spanish Bourbons seized the Kingdoms of Naples and Sicily and

1816, King Ferdinand IV of Naples and III of Sicily retitles himself King Ferdinand

Low Nurse Patient Ratio
ICU patients generally sustain many invasive procedures, being thus at higher risk for
health care associated infections than those treated in non critical care areas. Were the

central venous catheter associated bloodstream infections in surgical ICU patients. In
a following study, the incidence of infection with methicillin resistant Staphylococcus

workload and times of decreased nurse : patient ratio. In a more recent study that

In contrast to nurse : patient ratio, a higher nurse : ventilated patient ratio was

pressure of high workload. Hand hygiene compliance of ICU nurses was found to be
inversely related with the number of their activities, while daily proportion of
infected patients was significantly correlated with nurse : patient ratio of 2, 3 and 4

Polydipsia is defined as consuming an abnormal amount of water drinking

Information system (IS) can be any sorted out mix of individuals, equipment,
programming, interchanges systems, information assets, and arrangements and
techniques that stores, recovers, changes, and spreads data in an association.
Individuals depend on cutting edge data frameworks to speak with each other
utilizing an assortment of physical gadgets (equipment) data handling directions and

What Is The Theme Of Sleep By Haruki Murarakami
Fighting the oppression of everyday society in Sleep by Haruki Murakami
Sleep is a short story by Haruki Murakami. It is part of the seventeen stories that
constitute his short story collection The Elephant Vanishes . The collection was
published in 1993; however, Sleep was published separately in The New Yorker
magazine in 1989. Sleep is the longest short story of the seventeen. The protagonist
and the narrator of the story is a woman who has not slept for seventeen days. She is
married, and she has a child with her husband. At first sight, her life seems
immaculate, but later the circumstances become more complicated. Murakami s
characters have numerous common characteristics, and the protagonist of Sleep is
not an exception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the beginning, she mentions that her sleeplessness started with a terrible
nightmare. She felt as if she was awake when she saw an old gray man, but she
could not move, and she could not even let out a scream. This nightmare is highly
important because this is the first time in the short story when the protagonist is not
able to do something, do be free. Again we can see a typical characteristic of
Murakami s protagonists. As Celeste Loughman states in her review on The Elephant
Vanishes, all of Murakami s characters are dissatisfied. Some rebel and quit their
jobs; more often they escape into dream, fantasy, and even death. They crave
mystery, the unknowable, the existence of an unfathomable power from another
dimension. Paradoxically, however, as if unwilling to confront the emptiness
within, they take refuge in ritual behavior and methodical attention to detail (434).
However, the protagonist of Sleep tries to break free from her ritual behavior.
Even though later she wakes up, this experience is still a defining moment in her
life because this is the first time when she starts to realize that her current life does
not satisfy her needs. Throughout the story, the protagonist is often amazed by her
body. She stands in front of the mirror fully naked. The picture of her naked body
can create a sense of freedom in the reader because when she is naked, her body is
in its natural state it is fully free. She also started to see her face prettier than before
her only part that she hated on herself, a shadowed area beneath her cheekbones,
disappeared. Her own consciousness started to grow again when she refused to have
sex with her husband. At this point, she only cared about reading Anna Karenina with
whom she could totally identify. She realized that her only drive was housework, and

38% of its sales come from its MedSurg products segment, which produces medical
and surgical equipment. 17% of its sales come from Neurotechnology and Spine
products, which produces spine and CMF implants, interventional spine equipment,
and neurovascular products.
Stryker continues to have a consistent flow of new products that expand markets.
They just recently bought MAKO Surgical Corp. for $1.65billion, which develops
robotic technology for hip and knee replacement surgeries. As long as Stryker
continues to develop innovate new products and acquire its competition will continue
to gain market share.
Stryker has a Quick ratio of 3.08, which shows it has the ability to meet any short
term cash needs. Stockholders Equity has increased by 8.18% from Q2FY12 to
Q2FY13. This tells me that it is very unlikely that they will face any financial
difficulty in the near future. It also indicates they have the cash flow to continue
growing through acquisitions.
DISRUPTIONS
One disrupter for Stryker and all companies in the med tech industry will be the
new Affordable Health Care Act. The Affordable Health Care Act will include a
2.3% excise tax on medical devices. For Stryker, 2.3% of their revenues is
$100million dollars, which is 20% of their R D budget. This would be a direct hit
and will have a significant impact on Stryker especially since 65% of their revenues
come from the United States. In 2012, U.S.
Back in Time to Pinkalicous Essay
Miles away from Earth, there is a planet that has everything you could ever dream of.
The wonderful planet s name is Pinkalicious. My best friend Toga and I are heading
to our school Skyscraper High. The only transportation we have is on my big Elis.
Elis is just a beginner in flying and has a lot of problems with his flying. Is this safe,
exclaimed Toga. Sure, if you want to tell yourself that, I said with an unsure look on
my face. I really wasn t sure if Elis was safe to ride, but we needed ride badly
because if we are late to class again we will have to sit in the freezer. I can t do
another hour of sitting in that freezer again. I heard Mrs. Eve locks the bad kids in
there to let them freeze into ice cycles. Someone in a grade... Show more content on

So Toga and I went to visit Nikki in her lab to get my mind off of what Mrs. Eve
told me about my powers. When we walked through the door of the lab Nikki was
freaking! Toga had to freeze her and then melt her to calm her down. After we
finally got her unfrozen she sat us down and told us. She said that Mrs. Eve was
about to have a nervous breakdown because of the nuclear change in on our planet.
She could possibly destroy the town with all the rage she will have. Then
something came to my mind. It s like a lightbulb went off in my head. I mentioned
Why don t we build a time machine? To go back in time to the day you built Mrs.
Eve and stop you from mixing the wrong stuff together . That could work, said
Nikki, But how would we build a time machine? I suggested, We could use some
old parts of yours from you old projects that you never finished. All I know is that
we better build it fast before Mrs. Eve attacks the city. The next day we started
building the time machine. I figured that just three of us couldn t build a working
time machine so I sent Toga out to go get some of our friends. The only one she
brought back was Jodan, the pirate. Our first try at it, we tried using Toga s laser eyes
to shoot at the time machine to start it up. That wasn t a very good idea. I said, What
if we use my blue pixie dust and sparkles to start it up? Let s try it, said Nikki. So I
got my pixie dust and sparkles and sprinkled them all over

Guatemala Food Security
Food security is defined as when all people have access to enough safe and healthy
food to fit the preferences and needs of each person for a healthy life. Food
sovereignty is one s right to both nutritious and culturally appropriate food through
ecologically safe methods. This means that even if people have foodto eat, it does not
necessarily mean they have food securitynor food sovereignty (Rosenberger 2012:17).
This also means that in a country, the poor must have as much access to nutritious
and culturally relevant food as the wealthy in order to have true food security and
sovereignty.
I chose to explore the food security situation in Guatemala because it is somewhere

Maize is used to make tortillas, which is possibly the most important staple in their
diet. Tortillas are generally eaten with every meal and therefore maize is highly
important to ensure Guatemalan food security (Shriar 2003: 97). Many households
in Guatemala even grow maize themselves; as they believe without maize, one
cannot live. Guatemalan peasants even take pride in cultivating their own maize
and knowing that their tortillas were made from their own crop (Isakson 2009: 749
750). It has become a whole cultural experience for many Guatemalan peoples. It
seems that now Guatemalans identify themselves with the crop of maize, as it is
such an important symbol of their cultural identity. This ability to control their own
production of a culturally acceptable food like maize helps them reach closer to
food sovereignty but they will not fully reach it until the entire agricultural sector
itself is no longer monopolized by a select few

Dr. Jim Uhley
My Worldview
My worldview is formed by my relationships, challenges and choices I have made,
environmental surroundings and my family influence, all which have impressed on
me my views of the world.
According to Merriam Webster s Learners Dictionary, the definition of Worldview is
The way someone thinks about the world . Although this simple phrase seems to the
point, it is so very vague. It can mean the scientific, spiritual, and cultural worldviews,
and so much more. My worldview is formed by my relationships, challenges, and
choices I have made, my environmental surrounding and my family influence. I like to

In that sense my worldview is very Christian. The Secular Humanist comes in when it
comes to the idea of organized religion. I dislike the pressure organized religion puts
on people to attend church and tithe to the Church to keep it alive . I merely see it
as someone playing the middle man to gain wealth by way of God. I speak to God
in my own way I thank him daily each time I walk outside and see the children I was
able to birth, healthy and happy, enjoying nature because He created it.
One of the most recent events that has helped change and evolve my worldview
was bringing children into the world. This was something I had always thought of
and unfortunately pregnancy was not easy for me. I lost many in the task of
birthing two, who were strong but had a hard road from the minute they were
born. Being Catholic denomination, we are not to use birth control or lesson the
fruits of my husband loins . The two children that lived and grew were all my body
could handle. The medications I had to take during pregnancy wasted me away
before my family s eyes. Another child could have killed me. Because of this, my
husband decided to have a vasectomy procedure to make sure that we didn t have
any more children so he wasn t left to raise them alone. The priest of our church
was not happy with this at all. He lectured us about this and made us feel like we
were doing something horrible. I spoke to him
Wedding Speech By Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston And James
D....
Farewell To Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston tells
the story of Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston when she was a young girl, in spite of her
japanese heritage, she and her family faced struggles during the time of The Pearl
Harbor attack and The war between Japan and the United States, which was the
Second World War. As the story goes by it shares all of the hard work they had to
do as a family to overcome the struggles. Also how the struggle and hard work,
changed their lives a lot in Manzanar. Houston and Houston both uses struggle, hard
work, and change to show how Houston and her family had to live before and after
the hard times of the war between Japan and the United States. During the course of
the novel, significant... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But it s up to us that the emotions we feel, is the way we react to the things we face
in life, just like Jeanne s family had too keep going on without the altar of the
family. Struggle is evident when We woke early, shivering and coated with dust
that had blown up through the knotholes and in through the slits around the
doorway. During the night Mama had unpacked all our clothes and heaped them
on our bed s for warmth. Now our cubicle looked as if a great laundry bag had
exploded and then sprayed with fine dust. A skin of sand covered the floor. [41].
As a reader, we know that Jeanne and her whole entire family are now struggling
more than ever, from living in nice neighborhood in Los Angeles, CA to live in
place that the air is dust and live under barrack. Struggle was already a large part of
Jeanne Wakatsuki Houstonand her family s life, but even through the very hard times
they still managed to push through it and keep moving forward. After all, the
struggles that they were facing were really hard, they still manage to teach us that no
matter what struggles is going on in life, you have to keep pushing through them in
order to find the change in life. The most important thing that they have taught us of
struggle, is that they always tried to maintain the most precious

There was a warm breeze that Friday in September when I packed my two large
bags, kissed my family and friends good bye, and left my home. Thus the greatest
adventure of my life was begun. On my first day of studying in France, I woke up
early and took a quasi shower, which consisted of sprinkling myself with water for
hours until all the soap finally drained out of my hair. My dressing procedures were
followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter tasting, dark liquidand a
hard, bread like substance. The bread I ate dry, for fear of the dark scary looking pot
of jam. I packed my books and headed off for class.

I waited patiently again for the green man. Several students passed me, and they all
said, Does she not know how to cross the street? Maybe she needs someone to hold
her hand.
When I got through the stone wall that surrounds my city, there was a small bar,
where men sat outside drinking hard liquor at 8:00 in the morning. They all stared at
me as I passed and thought seriously about surrounding me and harassing me until I
screamed for help. I walked carefully down the narrow sidewalk of the street, until I
passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried to run me off the sidewalk and
scowled at me just for being in his way. He thought, I wish these Americans would
learn how to walk. Not long after that, there was a strange and straggly looking man
in my path. He tried to stop me by asking me a question, but I kept walking. I didn t
understand the question because he said it in French, but I m pretty sure he was just
trying to torture and embarrass me.
When I passed the cafe just outside of my school, there were a number of beautiful
people drinking their morning coffees. They all stared at me in disgust as I passed,
thinking, if we don t get these ugly Americans out of our country soon . . .
Finally, I arrived at the little school where I would be taking classes. I pried open the
enormous wooden door and ran inside before I could be attacked
What Are Alexander The Great Leaders
Abraham Lincoln, Adolf Hitler, Augustus Cesar, Joan of Arc, Napoleon
Bonaparte. Can anyone tell me what all these people have in common? (brief
pause) All these people were great leaders. Now when I say great , I am not
necessarily referring to their morals or political world view. Perhaps better term
would be influential leaders. And interestingly enough, all of the leaders mentioned
were also in some capacity involved with the military. However, before all these, one
man was so prominent in terms of his leadershipand accomplishments that the for
mentioned and many other leaders today follow in his footsteps to some respect. His
name was Alexander the Great. Now you might ask yourself, what in the world
makes Alexander the Great so,
Apollo 8 Facts

Apollo 8 was the second human spaceflight. The first human spaceflight was
launched by the Soviet Union on April 12, 1961. Apollo 8 was launched on
December 21, 1968. It was the first human mission, in which the spacecraft left the
Earth s orbit. It was the first manned mission to orbit the moon.
2. The Astronauts:
There were three astronauts aboard Apollo 8: Commander Frank Borman, Command
Module Pilot James Lovell, and Lunar Module Pilot William Anders. They were the

to see the far side of the moon. The crew orbited the moon, but did not actually land
on the moon.
3. The Good Book:
On Christmas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the tasks performed by the Apollo 8 crew was to photograph the moon s
surface, make visual observations about the moon. Many photographs were taken
during the orbit around the moon. These photographs were used to update existing
maps and charts. Many of the photographs are in black and white. The reason for this
is that the resolution and clarity of the black and white photos was better than that of
color photographs.
7. The Spacecraft:
Apollo 8 was very similar to Apollo 7. The main difference was that the forward
pressure and ablative hatches were replaced by a combined forward hatch. Also,
there were couches added for the comfort of the crew. There was no lunar module on
Apollo 8; however, there was a test module was mounted that was similar in mass to
the lunar module. This was done to verify that the lunar module could be stabilized
for travel on future explorations.

  • 2. What Is The Value Of Life Michel de Montaigne explained that the value of life lies not in the length of days, but in the use we make of them. This quote sums up many peoples exact feelings about the value of living, what it means, and who really appreciates it. Our society has become obsessed with putting a monetary worth on everything we do, even the most precious of things. Life is one of the few things that you cannot put any price on, despite what others might believe. Memories and what they mean to those who have made them are priceless, so why should a legal character determine what the value of our lives have been, when all it sees is the way that we have died, rather than the worth of what we have lived. Hamlet, Roger Ebert, and Kenneth Feinberg all felt differently about their thoughts on life, but in the end, a life is a life, and that is something all people can agree on. Roger Ebert was a man whose faith wavered from the beginning to the end of his life, he stated that he no longer believed in God at the time of his death, and it seems that those who are not god fearing do not worry themselves about death as much as someone who is religious. Personally I have always felt that atheists value life more than religious people; those who are religious figure that they can fix whatever they have ruined in their current life, in the afterlife when they see their God, which is not exactly an ideal way to live. Typically, when plagued with diseases like AIDS, or Cancer, the victims realize
  • 3. Harry Potter Comparison Research Paper Have you ever wondered who would win in a battle between Gandalf and Dumbledore? Whose force was more powerful? I will be discussing and also comparing the books Lord of The Rings by J.R.R Tolkien and Harry Potter by J.K Rowling. Both books were a huge success and are widely known but simply which series was better? The Lord of The Rings series is set in the age of middle earth which is around 6,000 years before present day. In the series the region is called Eriador which include lands of the shire which the hobbits occupy, and where some elves live. There is no technology in middle earth , The novel starts out in Hobbiton but then Frodo, the main character travels through the valley with companions to destroy the ring. The novel Lord ... It runs 29 bottling plants across the United States and had revenue of $4.1 billion in 2014. (CHANGE STAT TO 2015 and CITE waiting to hear back from library with current stats.) Since 2008, NestlГ© has been trying to obtain the right to bottle and sell water from Oxbow Spring, located in Cascade Locks, Oregon. NestlГ© s plans are to build a $50 million, 250,000 square foot bottling facility in Cascade Locks. This would involve an exchange of water between Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Cascade Locks. Oregonian reporter Kelly House explains Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife agreed to trade a portion of its water right at Oxbow Springs to Cascade Locks in exchange for an equal portion of the city s municipal supply. Cascade Locks would then sell the spring water to Nestle as a municipal water customer at a discounted rate than what Cascade Locks residents pay (Oregonian, Ballot). The exchange would allow the city to access up to 225 gallons per minute from Oxbow Springs to sell to Nestle. That s about 5 percent of the state s water right to the springs (OPB). There were many opponents of Nestle building a giant plant in Cascade Locks and bottling our resource. OpponentsВ¬ of the NestlГ© bottling plant developed a county ballot measure to be added to the May election , Hood River Water Protection Measure, prohibiting commercial bottled water production in Hood
  • 5. Nursing Theory In Nursing Individualized Attention The application of nursing theories to the nursing care practice promotes the structure of care. It intensifies the importance of an individual in need and facilitates the environment of healing. By integrating the major nursing theories into the daily nursing routine in the hospitals or the community, and understanding their meaning, nursing profession flourishes as a unique science separate from the discipline of law. One of the theories looked at is humanbecoming by Rosemarie Rizzo Parse. As Smith Parker, (2015) explains, humanbecoming nurses involvement in the care of the patient is influenced by the utmost importance that arise from the point of view of their patient at that particular time. The nurse then and recognizes the wishes, benefits and desires of the patient and prioritizes her care in such a way. The Portray of Humanbecoming According to Rosemarie Rizzo Parse the goal or the definition of humanbecoming, is to learn and appreciate the significance of living encounters (Smith Parker, 2015). The nurse is there to learn from the individuals cared for, what is the meaning of their experience. It is derived from a circumstance, and based completely on their point of view. It is the patient and their family who take the leading role. The nurse is there to guide this exclusive experience by connecting through a dialogue or simple silence by the method called true prescience (Smith Parker 2015). While Ben is grieving the near death
  • 6. Diversity Vs Uniformity Essay For most of my childhood, I grew up in very diverse schools. Ever since I moved to public schools in my 4th grade year, I grew to know diversity very well. In my younger years, I thought very little of it, but in my older years as a high schooler, I ve grown to be proud of it. While some people believe that diversity is now encouraged more than uniformity, it can be argued that they work hand in hand because diversity can create uniformity and this can even create individuality. When a society is uniform, they are equal, stable, united, and relatable to each other. That being said, how exactly is diversity being encouraged more than uniformity? Diversity creates uniformity, it doesn t counter it. Without diversity, no one will be identified by others other than as their ethnicity. This leads to separation, which leads to anything but uniformity. An author named Rodrigues states in Aria: A Memoir of a Bilingual Childhood, Full individuality is achieved, paradoxically, by those who are able to consider themselves members of the crowd. Thus it happened for me: only when I was able to think of myself as an American, no longer an alien in gringo society, could I seek the rights and opportunities necessary for public individuality... America is known as the melting potfor a reason, and Rodrigues speaks of this clearly; you cannot achieve individuality if you stick to classifying yourself among a group. Diversity identifies us all as one humanrace, allowing us to be our
  • 7. I Want To Be Opening Page 1. Opening Credits I Don t Want To Be by Gavin DeGraw I chose this specific song as my opening credits because it is one of my favorite songs from my favorite TV show, One Tree Hill. Every time I watched this show on Netflix, I never skipped the intro because of this song. It always has a way of putting me in a good mood and singing to the top of my lungs. The beat isn t the only thing that draws me to this song, the lyrics have such a positive meaning describing how I can be anything I want to be. In high school it s all about deciding what you want to be when you graduate and for many of us, that s a hard decision. At this age, many of us don t even know our own selves. After going through 4 years of high school, I learned alot about me and who I want to be. Well all I want to be is me. 2. Waking Up Wake Me Up by Avicii There s really no other song to describe how I feel in the morning except for this one. I am not a morning person, especially when I have to get up early to get ready. Even if I don t want to listen to the radio, I ll just plug in my phone to Pandora and listen to country. I remember driving in my car with my cousin, and we were listening to the radio and this song by Rascal Flatts came on. After we listened to it, we looked it up on our phones and put it on reply so we could learn the lyrics. Every time I hear this song I just want to sing it to the top of my lungs. The meaning behind it relates to me so much cause every time I see my ex I tried to make it seem I was better off without him, but deep down I was hurting. This song just has a way of describing how I felt after my first breakup and making it into great hit on the radio. So, anytime someone sees me driving around town, I will forsure be listening to country radio on full blast, unless it s early in the
  • 8. Ore-Ida Tater Tot Analysis What is so Special about Ore Ida Tater Tots? There are many techniques that advertisers use in the creation of advertisements in order to catch people s attention and spark their interest in a certain product. Advertising influences people using pictures, humor, and the psychological need for food. However, these are not always successful tactics for initiating interest in purchasing an item. An advertisement promoting Ore Ida tater tots is one example of a company who incorporated those various techniques, but in my opinion was not very successful. A young girl with a skeptical look on her face is pictured sitting at a table, holding up a white piece of paper with one hand. There are horizontal lines drawn on the paper half an inch apart. Sitting just in front of the paper, on a plate, are four tater tots dressed in various costumes. One is dressed as a pirate with an eye patch while the other resembles a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Instead of sparking people s interest in those ways, the tater tot ad uses pictures, humor, and the psychological need for food. The use of pictures and humor in this advertisement essentially go hand in hand. In order to fully understand the humor, you must see the picture of the tater tots in the suspect line up. In Fowles article, he discusses the effect that images have on viewers of advertisements. He states, Some few ads have their emotional appeal in the text, but for the greater number by far the appeal is contained in the artwork. This makes sense, since visual communication better suits more primal levels of the brain (Fowles 75). Even without reading the words on the ad, the image was successful in grabbing my attention. It is an amusing image that is not very often seen so I was curious and wanted to read more about
  • 9. Essay on Conflict in All My Sons Conflict in All My Sons The conflict in the play All My Sons in embodied by two different sets of values. The older generation represented by Joe and Kate strongly believed in family values and Pursue of the American dream at any cost. In contradiction, Joe and Anne express the younger generation s ethics and ideals clearly shown in the thoughts of idealism that money is not the most important thing in life. Even though the younger generation s ideals are sometimes thought of as being irrational and in conflict with reality, all throughout the play their validity is greater. Many times in parents child relationships the parents have a very different view on things than the child they had raised. Most of these gaps are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The readers of the play know that even though Chris thought about it in a moment of weakness he would not forget his ethics and therefore would never do something that he believes to be wrong. There is no point of Chris trying to change his mind because the passion he speaks in about these ideals will never die. Chris and Anne did not have their own family yet, which was an excuse for the older generation to contradict them although they knew the difference between right and wrong. In this play the word father to Chris means righteousness and integrity. If one cannot look beyond one s personal circle they are condemned to an ending that is a tragic moment of realization that may bring an ending similar to Joe s. Another morality issue, which Chris has to deal with in regards to his father in taking responsibility. It is possible that Chris would have shown signs of forgiveness if Joe were to take responsibility for his actions. Instead of doing so once again he was hiding behind doing good only for the benefits of his inner circle. There s nothing he could do that I wouldn t forgive. Because he s my son. Because I m his father and he s my son. In these words Keller expresses his own optimism that no matter what he is to do Chris will always understand, and forgive. That was not the case. If Keller could not forgive himself, why did he believe that Chris would ever be able to forgive
  • 10. I Love Alzheimer s Research Paper Why I chose This Topic I ve always loved the holidays. It s a mostly stress free nostalgic time to enjoy with friends and loved ones. Best of all, holidays normally mean gifts and plenty of good food! The celebrations are great, but it seems that at most every family Christmas or Thanksgiving, we are on the edge of our seats and nervous. I ve found that I am unable to concentrate on the festivities because my mind is wandering, thinking of our other loved ones. Since I can remember, we have always had a family member plagued with cancer, tumors, or other grave diseases. That being said, the ailment I ve feared most is Alzheimer s. I ve seen too many loved ones forget their relatives and eventually their spouses because of this disease. I am... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of my main questions was whether I could do anything emotionally to cope with Alzheimer s and with that search I had better luck. One of my favorite pieces of information I found was to face your feelings head on think of all emotions...positive and negative...be as sad as you want...work through anger and frustration...these are healthy feelings...it s common to feel love and anger at the same time Taken from a paper published on ( Alzheimer s Association website ). The next thing I found that helped me personally was how to deal with guilt, personally I ve experienced feeling guilty when taking a break or not being there for my grandma when she needed me, as well as regretting things I had done before knowing about the illness. Something interesting I found that I would ve never thought of was to continue to participate in as many activities as possible.( Alzheimer s Association pg. ) I also found that a good way to keep an emotional connection longer is to personally connect with the sufferer. A few ways to do that is to keep eye contact with throughout the conversation, to always refer to them by name when talking, continue the conversation as long as possible because is makes the person with AD feel better about themselves, and be aware of the body language you re presenting ( Grief and loss as Alzheimer s progresses pg. ). I would say the most essential piece of information I learned was the best thing I can do is just comfort the person with AD and make their time left as easy as
  • 11. The Was The Messiah A Little Differently Than Jesus The Jews pictured the Messiah a little differently than Jesus. Some Jews could have missed Jesus if you had picture painted of what you thought the Messiah would be like, you might end up passing them by. the Jews had already made up their minds of who the Messiah was going to be, therefore, they missed who He actually was, along with the message that He brought. Now knowing this, it s easier to understand the reasoning behind why the Jews may have denied Jesusas the Messiah. The Messiah the jew were looking for, was the anointed one, similar to the Messiah. He will be all knowing, a king, (anointed by perfume Matt. 26: 6 7)as well as Lord of the Sabbath(Matt. 12:14 15, 9:4). He will be called the ultimate sacrifice, the light of the world, the New Covenant, greater than the prophets, law, and angels, yet few will recognize Him when He comes. He will be the sinless, perfect sacrificial lamb, who dies for our sake, even though we don t deserve it. He will be a servant, teacher, and mentor for many to follow. He will be the chosen seed through the line of David, the anointed one, Christ, and the Messiah. Even after all of this the Jewish people back in that time period still have no clue who this man is. He even tells them that He is the Messiah, the Son of Man, yet everyone seems to believe that He is just some prophet who showed up to do good things, or a blasphemer that should be put to death. Even the demons know who the Son of Man is(Matt.8:28 29). Although the people see and hear all of these things that He has done, and know in the back of their minds that this man s coming and character has been prophesied in the Old Testament and now fulfilled right before their eyes, they still do not see who He really is, or their hearts are just too hard to take in the truth. Just like the people in this time period are numb to who the Messiah is, they also don t understand the way He was

As President Roosevelt s Vice President, he knew nothing about the development of the atomic bomb. But within months of assuming the office of President of the United States on April 12, 1945, he became the first and only American leader to authorize the use of atomic weapons against an enemy target. Truman s era only marked the beginning of the race for nuclear weapons. The development of nuclear weapons is still an issue today, decades after Truman left office. Within seconds the fireball was nearly three miles in diameter and was visible for almost one minute on Rongerik, an island 135 miles east of the burst. About an hour and a half later a gritty, snow like substance began raining down on a Japanese fishing vessel called the Lucky Dragon that was about 80 miles east of Bikini. • 13. Three Major Problems of Global Politics Final Exam Paper Decision making is a complex process that is influenced by many different factors. Three major factors that affect global politics today include free ridership, groupthink, and shadow of the past. These are problems that are central to scholars of I.R., and serve as obstacles to achieving cooperation among countries. To better understand the impact of these issues, it will be necessary to assess why each is important, and the theories that offer the best explanations of their presence. By analyzing these aspects, reaching possible solutions will be much more attainable and the more clear it will become as to how these problems are interconnected with each other. Nearly interchangeable to the term freeloader, free ridership occurs when people take advantage of something without contributing any amount of work themselves. Every I.R. scholar is familiar with this term as well as is familiar with the problems it can produce in the international arena. One of the most clearly seen examples of free ridership is the environment. Some countries such as Switzerland and Iceland have elected to invest greatly in renewable energy and have since experienced many benefits from such measures. There also exists, however, many countries of the world that do very little to support the environment. China and the United States, the two richest countries in the world are also among the most environmentally destructive countries. But why would the world s richest countries do

The Board of Education Topeka, Kansas, 1950, a young African American girl named Linda Brown had to walk a mile to get to her school, crossing a railroad switchyard. She lived seven blocks from an all white school. Linda s father, Oliver, tried to enroll her into the all white school. The school denied her because of the color of her skin. Segregation was widespread throughout our nation. Blacks believed that the separate but equal saying was false. They felt that whites had more educational opportunities. Mr. Brown, along with the NAACP and many civic leaders, fought for equal educational rights for all races. Brown v. The Board of Education case and the events leading up to it had a positive effect on education and society. Community events in our country leading up to the Brown v. The Board of Education case were segregated. The Plessy v. Ferguson decision of 1896 made segregation stronger with the separate but equal doctrine. Blacks and whites are separated in all areas of society, including education( Supreme Court Decisions ). Segregation in schools existed throughout the nation. While segregated schools were legal, they were never equal(Walker). There was a lack of educational and equal rights in African American communist(Walker). • 15. The Bond Between Man And Animals In Life Of Pi By Yann Martel The Bond Between Man and Animal The book Life of Pi by Yann Martel shows the relationship between man and animal. When humans interact with animals, either a positive or negative relationship is formed. With many types of animals this bond improves the quality of life for the person. However, when this bond is broken, such as when a pet dies or is lost, the person suffers unfavorable side effects. The bond between man and animal has existed ever since man and animal were created. As time evolved, so did the bond between the two types of creatures. Originally, animals were only seen as food or predators. However, they soon evolved into work animals, and eventually the animals were kept for companionship, rather than work. Humans learned the value of companionship with animals. Two animals that have been majorly affected by this transformation were the dog and the cat. In the beginning, dogs were used for ВЁherding, pulling power, hunting, tracking, or protectionВЁ (Wiebe). Cats were ВЁkept to hunt down and kill intruding mice or ratsВЁ (Wiebe). In present day, these two types, along with many others, are kept for companionship and entertainment. While some places in the world still have work dogs and cats, they are now mostly known as pets. In addition, many other types of animals have developed an affinity with humans. The concept of pets as companions is used throughout Life of Pi, as Richard Parker turns into a pet for Pi. While Richard Parker is still an untamed animal, he is under Pi s control, for the most part. Pi manipulates Richard Parker by training him with a whistle, keeping him at bay and reducing the risk of attack from Richard Parker (260). At this point, the bond is still forming and is not fully developed. Because Pi is stuck on the lifeboat without traditional companionship, he turns to Richard Parker as a substitute. The bond grows stronger the longer they are together. The level of communication Pi has with the tiger helps keep him sane. They learn to live together and respect each other s territory. For their survival, they must depend upon each other. The challenges they face help strengthen the bond until the point where Pi feels a deep connection to the animal. Aside from Richard

Essay on The Triangular Silas Marner The Triangular Silas Marner As a result of betrayal, Silas Marner of George Eliot s so titled novel becomes a man in body without incurring any of the duties normally associated with nineteenth century working class adults. Eliot creates these unusual circumstances by framing our title hero so it appears to his comrades that he has stolen money. Thereby, she effectively rejects innocent Marner from his community and causes him to lose his fiancГ©. At this pivotal moment in Marner s life, just as he is about to assume fully the role of a man, depended upon as such by his neighbors, future wife and probable children, he is excised and does not successfully complete the transformation. However, I do not think that Silas Marner s endorsement of family values is nearly as straightforward as Nunokawa makes it out to be. In fact, Eliot s stance on the family unit is three pronged. Nunokawa s reduction of Silas Marner to a dichotomy ignores the middle ground that Eliot ultimately recommends as the key to a life with a happy ending. In order to demonstrate this, I must first show that none of the families in Silas Marner (with the exception of Silas own) are totally happy. In accord with Nunokawa, I will start with the uncomplicated melancholy of Squire Cass male only family. Eliot candidly tells her reader that Red House [the Squire s residence] was without the presence of the wife and mother which is the fountain of wholesome love and fear in parlour and kitchen (Eliot 22). Immediately, Eliot prepares her reader for an unhappy, incomplete group of inhabitants. The only scene between father and eldest son is both awkward and unkind, showing the attitude of life within the motherless house. The one scene in the novel between two brothers, Godfrey, the eldest, and his next younger brother, Dunsey, mocks the notion of brotherly love, depicting it as actually blackmail via brotherly knowledge (Eliot 24). The brother scene calls to mind the next well respected family in Raveloe, the Lammeters.

There are some therapists or behavior analysts, parents, caregivers, teachers, and people in general who support punishment and some who do not (Hall, 2013). Although there is a lot of controversy about whether to use punishment or not, punishment is indeed still sometimes used in the field of applied behavior analysis, but there are special guidelines for using punishment based procedures in the field. Before a behavior analyst can decide whether or not they want to use punishment in an intervention, they must clearly understand the definition

For those children whose parents are not good role models, the television becomes the behavioral role model. • 37. What Is The Theme Of Sleep By Haruki Murarakami Fighting the oppression of everyday society in Sleep by Haruki Murakami Sleep is a short story by Haruki Murakami. It is part of the seventeen stories that constitute his short story collection The Elephant Vanishes . The collection was published in 1993; however, Sleep was published separately in The New Yorker magazine in 1989. Sleep is the longest short story of the seventeen. The protagonist and the narrator of the story is a woman who has not slept for seventeen days. She is married, and she has a child with her husband. At first sight, her life seems immaculate, but later the circumstances become more complicated. Murakami s characters have numerous common characteristics, and the protagonist of Sleep is not an exception ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the beginning, she mentions that her sleeplessness started with a terrible nightmare. She felt as if she was awake when she saw an old gray man, but she could not move, and she could not even let out a scream. This nightmare is highly important because this is the first time in the short story when the protagonist is not able to do something, do be free. Again we can see a typical characteristic of Murakami s protagonists. As Celeste Loughman states in her review on The Elephant Vanishes, all of Murakami s characters are dissatisfied. Some rebel and quit their jobs; more often they escape into dream, fantasy, and even death. They crave mystery, the unknowable, the existence of an unfathomable power from another dimension. Paradoxically, however, as if unwilling to confront the emptiness within, they take refuge in ritual behavior and methodical attention to detail (434). However, the protagonist of Sleep tries to break free from her ritual behavior. Even though later she wakes up, this experience is still a defining moment in her life because this is the first time when she starts to realize that her current life does not satisfy her needs. Throughout the story, the protagonist is often amazed by her body. She stands in front of the mirror fully naked. The picture of her naked body can create a sense of freedom in the reader because when she is naked, her body is in its natural state it is fully free. She also started to see her face prettier than before her only part that she hated on herself, a shadowed area beneath her cheekbones, disappeared. Her own consciousness started to grow again when she refused to have sex with her husband. At this point, she only cared about reading Anna Karenina with whom she could totally identify. She realized that her only drive was housework, and her life was

Because of the high cost and amount of time that it takes to learn how to use a different company s medical equipment, most doctors use one company s products for life. Stryker has always recognized the existence of brand loyalty and has made it a top priority to develop excellent relationships with its customers. Hospitals that use Stryker s equipment are more likely to continue to buy from Stryker because of their diverse product offerings. They just recently bought MAKO Surgical Corp. for $1.65billion, which develops robotic technology for hip and knee replacement surgeries. As long as Stryker continues to develop innovate new products and acquire its competition will continue to gain market share. This tells me that it is very unlikely that they will face any financial difficulty in the near future. It also indicates they have the cash flow to continue growing through acquisitions. DISRUPTIONS One disrupter for Stryker and all companies in the med tech industry will be the new Affordable Health Care Act. The Affordable Health Care Act will include a 2.3% excise tax on medical devices. For Stryker, 2.3% of their revenues is $100million dollars, which is 20% of their R D budget. She said that Mrs. Eve was about to have a nervous breakdown because of the nuclear change in on our planet. She could possibly destroy the town with all the rage she will have. Then something came to my mind. It s like a lightbulb went off in my head. I mentioned Why don t we build a time machine? Food sovereignty is one s right to both nutritious and culturally appropriate food through ecologically safe methods. This means that even if people have foodto eat, it does not necessarily mean they have food securitynor food sovereignty (Rosenberger 2012:17). Maize is used to make tortillas, which is possibly the most important staple in their diet. Tortillas are generally eaten with every meal and therefore maize is highly important to ensure Guatemalan food security (Shriar 2003: 97). Many households in Guatemala even grow maize themselves; as they believe without maize, one cannot live. Guatemalan peasants even take pride in cultivating their own maize and knowing that their tortillas were made from their own crop (Isakson 2009: 749 750). It has become a whole cultural experience for many Guatemalan peoples. It seems that now Guatemalans identify themselves with the crop of maize, as it is such an important symbol of their cultural identity. This ability to control their own production of a culturally acceptable food like maize helps them reach closer to food sovereignty but they will not fully reach it until the entire agricultural sector itself is no longer monopolized by a select few

I dislike the pressure organized religion puts on people to attend church and tithe to the Church to keep it alive . I merely see it as someone playing the middle man to gain wealth by way of God. I speak to God in my own way I thank him daily each time I walk outside and see the children I was able to birth, healthy and happy, enjoying nature because He created it. One of the most recent events that has helped change and evolve my worldview was bringing children into the world. My dressing procedures were followed by a silent breakfast that consisted of some bitter tasting, dark liquidand a hard, bread like substance. They all stared at me as I passed and thought seriously about surrounding me and harassing me until I screamed for help. I walked carefully down the narrow sidewalk of the street, until I passed a man walking the opposite way. He tried to run me off the sidewalk and scowled at me just for being in his way.
