The Romantic Works Of John Keats, Percy Shelley, And...
The romantic period, lasting from the late 18th to the early 19th century, followed the Age of
Reason. During this time people had an individualized, free, liberal, and imaginative attitude
towards life. Literature itself was full of introspection, emotion, passion, sublimity, beauty, and
spontaneity, with subjects such as humankind, the soul, flowers, the common people and more. Of
all of the Romantic values and subjects, the beauty, creativity, and morals of nature is what truly
inspired human imagination, and thus literature of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The
underlying theme of nature that is persistent through romantic poetry creates a bond between the
poet and the common man through short poems that express personal emotion that all can feel, as
we all are connected to nature. This can be seen through the works of John Keats, Percy Shelley,
and William Blake. Percy Shelley was a joyful and optimistic Romantic poet of the time who was
concerned with the beauty and passions of nature, creativity, and imagination. Nature is an ever
present theme in his poetry as he feels closely connected to nature s power. Ode to the West Wind
is one of his most notable poems, and one that truly exemplifies the idea of expressing personal
emotion and feeling by using metaphors from nature. He uses the west wind to symbolize the
power of nature and the imagination that was thus inspired by nature. It was almost even an agent
for change. In the poem, the wild West wind

Essay on Narrative Style of Little House on The Prairie
Narrative Style of Little House on The Prairie
When you first start reading Little House on the Prairie you notice it is told through the eyes of a
little girl named Laura. Her point of view is very realistic and captivating. She pays very close
attention to the details of the day to day living and the events that are happening around her. She
also notices how the prairie looks and what the weather is like each day. With her descriptions you
can picture everything in your mind clearly, and you feel like you are right there next to Laura
living her life.
When Laura is describing something she appeals to our senses by informing you how something
smells, feels, sounds, or tastes. She describes how Ma makes their food and what ... Show more

First, he unhitched and unharnessed Pet and Patty, and he put them on their picket line. While
Pet and Patty were rolling, Pa pulled all the grass from a large, round space of ground. When the
space was clear of grass, Pa laid a handful of dry grass in its center. From the creek bottoms he
brought an armful of twigs and dead wood. He laid small twigs and larger twigs and then the
wood on the handful of dry grass, and he lighted the grass. Then Pa brought water from the creek,
while Mary and Laura helped Ma get supper (28, 29).
Another part of the story that Laura describes very deeply was when Pa built the log cabin,
chimney, and the well digging. You knew every step and how he did it and what he used to make
everything. If a person wanted to, they could probably build a log cabin or dig a well by her
descriptions.
Laura enjoys describing the way the prairie looks each day because she loves it so much. She
pays close attention to the details of the flowers and grasses and how the wind is blowing. The
animals on the prairie are described often also since the prairie was full of wildlife back then. You
often found her describing the weather too. She found the weather on the prairie very interesting
and quite different than the weather in Wisconsin. Day after day was hotter then the day before.
The wind was hot. The grass was turning yellow. The whole world was rippling green and gold
under the blazing sky. At noon the wind died. No birds

What physical evidence does in a criminal trial and the...
In the criminal justice system, the best chance of a fair trial and justice lies within cases that
include physical evidence. Physical evidence, whether fibers, fingerprints, or DNA, can give a
jury proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Physical evidence can convict a criminal, or it can free an
innocent man. It can bring closure to families and to the law enforcement that work the cases.
The following cases will show what physical evidence does in a criminal trial and the vast
impact it can make. For each case I will examine how the physical evidence was important to the
case and whether or not it could have made more of a difference if the presentation of the evidence
were different. The five cases are: the Mosley case, the Warren case, the... Show more content on

The fact that a murderer was free for years before his DNA helped to solve this crime is of huge
significance. The largest contribution of this case was not the conviction of a criminal, but I
would consider it to be the release of two men who were charged and later cleared. Many will
agree that it is better to let a guilty man go free than it is to imprison an innocent man. In this
case, a guilty man is behind bars, and not one, but two innocent men were cleared of charges.
The next case may not have led to a conviction, but it certainly would have. Not to mention the
significance of closing a case that was over thirty years old. In the next case, Edward Warren
murdered an eighty year old mother and grandmother in Oregon in 1976 after her grandson
cancelled a visit (Harden, 2009). Warren had been paroled on the very morning of the murder,
and may or may not have known that anyone was home at the beginning of the breaking and
entering (Harden, 2009). The victim, despite her age, scratched her attacker, and nail scrapings
were taken that matched Warren (Springer, 2009). The DNA match was only made after a new
system was brought into place with further capabilities (Springer, 2009). Warren later died while
incarcerated for two more murders that he admitted to (Harden, 2009). The physical evidence in
this case never got to be presented because the DNA system in place at the time of Warren s death
wasn t adequate. In addition, Warren murdered two

Australian Submarine Essay
Factually the Australian submarine was captured by a manta shaped invisible craft fifteen minutes
ago. Two water drop shaped boxes shot to the front of the submarine and stuck on it, the boxes
tails connected with wires. The boxes on both sides of the sub s front emitted out special
electromagnetic pulse to malfunction the whole vessel, the sub lost propulsion and all kinds of
communications. Needless to say its machines totally blackout. The manta shaped invisible craft

The Healthcare Reimbursements Should Be Linked At The...
Executive Summary
The idea that the healthcare reimbursements should be linked to the quality outcomes and
performance measures is central to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The legislation
provides various reforms that either provide incentives to healthcare providers for better quality
services and outcomes or reduce their payments if certain quality standards are unmet. This paper
talks about the different reforms under PPACA, aimed at introducing payment variations based on
quality of care such as, Hospital Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program, improvements to different
quality reporting programs, payment adjustments for hospital acquired conditions (HAC), reduction
of hospital readmission rates (HRRP), testing for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Introduction
United States has no dearth of highly qualified, well trained doctors and still the US healthcare
quality fails to meet the established industry benchmarks. Institute of Medicine s (IOM s) 2001
Report, Crossing the Quality Chasm , clearly states that the American healthcare delivery system
is in need of a pivotal change. (Committee on Quality of Healthcare in America (Institute of
Medicine), 2001). The exasperation level is continuously rising amongst both, the patients and
the providers, and yet the problem of delivering and receiving high quality care remains
unaffected. In order to address this problem of healthcare quality improvement and affordability,
the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or Obamacare) was signed in the year
2010. The main aim behind PPACA is to improve healthcare quality and accessibility, at the same
time keeping it cost efficient. To facilitate its goal PPACA is trying to achieve the cost
effectiveness through reducing the Medicare price growth and regulating the quantity of care by
encouraging evidence based practices. This new legislation supports the healthcare system in
which the goals of both provider and the patients are better aligned with value as opposed to the
quantity of services. Overall the reform under PPACA seeks to establish a direct link between the
payments made to the healthcare

In the article entitled Extracurricular activities and the development of social skills in children
with intellectual and specific learning disabilities the authors begin to explain why children with
intellectual and specific learning disabilities social skills are absent. According to Brooks, Floyd,
Robins, and Chan, participation in social activities is positively related to children s social
adjustment, but little is known about the benefits of activity participation for children with
intellectual and specific disabilities (2015, p. 678). Children typically become aware of how to

competence, we predicted that participation in out of school activities would have a greater
impact on predicting social competence for children with intellectual disability or a specific
learning disability than for an age matched typically developing comparison group (Brooks,
Floyd, Robins, and Chan, 2015, p. 680). Families living in the southeastern USA in rural and
urban communities were taken from public schools for testing. The sample consisted of 117
students, 75 boys and 42 girls, between the ages of eight and eleven years old. The mean age of
the sample was 9.44 and the standard deviation was 1.05. The students were categorized into three
different groups, the learning disability, intellectual disability, and the typically developing
students. The learning disability group contains 53 students who are enrolled in services for

group contained 40 students who s IQ scores were between 40 and 70. The typically developing
group consisted of 24 students who show no signs of intellectual disability, psycho emotional

The Measure Of Concealed Weapons Onto College Campuses
The ability to carry concealed weapons onto college campuses has always been an area of
contention. In 1990, Congress passed the Clery Act which created gun free zones in primary and
secondary schools. Around that same time many states passed laws prohibiting weapons on college
campuses as well. (Lyons, 2017) In recent years there has been a stronger focus on college related
shootings and deaths which has re ignited the conversation regards concealed weapons on college
campuses. The most prominent political value that is in conflict with itself is freedom. The 2nd
Amendment of the United States Constitution grants citizens the right to bear arms. Many gun
rights activists believe that the right to carry weapons onto college campuses is... Show more

For opponents of concealed carry on campuses, they argue that by having guns on college
campuses, they are less free. Freedom is so ambiguous because it is completely subjective to
every individual. What makes one individual feel free might make another individual terrified.
Another political value that is in conflict with itself is security. People who are for concealed
carry at universities claim that it would be for their security. Since 2002, 64 people have been
killed in mass shootings on college campuses. (Lyons, 2016) One individual is quoted as saying
that The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. (Lyons, 2017)
This quote conveys the feelings of many concealed carry supporters who say that they do not
feel safe being restricted as to where they can and cannot carry their personal weapon. Opponents
of this idea claim that allowing guns on college campuses would conflict with their own personal
safety. Many say that the more weapons we have on college campuses, the more likely an attack
or accident is to happen. An idea that has been tossed around would be to allow only faculty and
staff to carry concealed weapons. However, opponents still have some hesitations. Daniel Webster
of Johns Hopkins University stated that if faculty and staff were permitted to bring guns onto
college campuses, there should be ... strict rules and protocols for securing the

My Old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General ( Bg )
I have chosen to write about my old Battalion Commander, Brigadier General(BG) Peter Jones.
The then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to
Ramadi, Iraq. He displayed numerous attributes that I model my military career from; he had an
unwavering presence and strong intellect. His competence was also the highest that I have ever
encountered in my military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to
achieve nothing but success whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. I
have set my standards of leadership off BG Jones and that is why he is my personal leader of
influence. I will outline some examples of him throughout this paper. BG Jones has an... Show more

There were numerous times were people would try and pressure him into a decision by noting
there was no time for indecision. He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation
through before reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation
speaks volumes to what a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to
be thought out at that time. He was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions
as to cut out reaction time needed due to him thinking it through before implementation and able
to switch tactics on the fly. He showed this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in
my mind s eye. We had set up a forward position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile
minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area for command and control of an impending raid
we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He had set up sectors of fire and counter fire
areas before we had set up even though we were told numerous times that it was not needed. Due
to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had planned on it not being as such and we
were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I learned from him that no matter what
happens you need to think things through and show a strong intellect so your soldiers are
confident in your decisions and believe in you. BG Jones was a lead from the front style of leader.
He would not sit idly by while his

Personal Narrative-The Racoon And The Skunk
The Racoon and The Skunk I was being chased. It wasn t the fun games you played when you

What Is The Sorcerer s Description Of Allan
The Sorcerer s Apprentice is a complex read and has many layers of information that one must
navigate through. For instance, I believe the sorcerer chose Allan as his apprentice because of
his father Richard Jackson. Richard was a man that did not show many emotions and keep them
under control even when time were difficult. I think the sorcerer saw the same potential in Allan
at first, but could also see Allan s eagerness to please. That is why the Sorcerer would only assign
Allan normal daily chores at first. The Sorcerer wanted Allan to remain humble and believed
making Allan perform normal day to day chores were a perfect lesson. However, Allan did not
interpret the lesson as such and believed he had either done something wrong or was not the
apprentice the Sorcerer had hoped for. When Allan confronted the Sorcerer about his feeling... Show

(Pg. 130) When analyzing the Sorcerer s words, I notice there is a lot of meaning in the few
words spoken. First, when he stated you are the best of students, he wished to acknowledge
Allans potential as a person not only as a sorcerer. The Sorcerer understood the fine line between
good and bad (a.k.a evil) when working the craft and how crossing the line was easy especially if
the person had good intentions. For example, at the end of the story, Allan wish to call the demon
to destroy himself because he felt unworthy. He no longer believed in himself, I am only that, a

CHAPTER TWO
PRINCIPLES AND PRACTICES OF INCIDENT MANAGEMENT AND INCIDENT RESPONSE
STRENGTHS
The information security incident management policy of Blyth s Books was created in 2010 and
has been reviewed four times in five years. Those covered by its scope are clearly stated. It stresses
the importance of incident management to the organisation and has the support of upper level
management.
This policy complies with the Computer Misuse Act (1990) which was an act made to secure
computer systems and networks from unapproved access. By complying with legal obligation,
Blyth s Books can pursue legal or disciplinary action against anyone (employee or otherwise) guilty
of breaching their systems.
WEAKNESSES
The Data Protection Act (1998) provides the principles which must be adhered to in order to ensure
the total protection of data while the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 27035
presents organisations with guidance in the management of information security incidents. This
standard stipulates that an organisation should have a clear and concise information security
incident management policy. The security incident management policy of Blyth s Books while
compliant with the Computer Misuse Act (1990) does not show that it is compliant with the Data
Protection Act (DPA) (1998) and the DPA (1998) being a legal aspect of the International
Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 27035, which must be adhered to, this policy is also not
compliant with the standard.

Challenges Facing New Markets, Multinational Corporations...
Introduction
When entering new markets, multinational corporations (MNCs) often form strategic alliances
with local companies. An alliance is where two or more organisations integrate to form a strategic,
business relationship (Finlay, 2000). The potential benefits of such alliances include access to
knowledge and resources, building a global network, market access, recognition and access to a
distribution network which can all provide MNCs with a competitive advantage in a foreign
market. However, MNCs also face many challenges when forming alliances in other countries
including loss of intellectual property, different expectations, various challenges of globalisation
(e.g. more stringent regulations being imposed on foreign firms), ethical and cultural considerations
and change management. This essay will focus on two of these challenges in depth change
management and cultural adaptation. However within these sections, certain other topics will also
be considered including leadership, innovation and diversity and globalisation. This essay will
critically discuss and analyse these challenges drawing on real world examples, academic theory
and additional research. It will also highlight and consider potential solutions to these challenges.
Change management
One challenge MNCs face when forming alliances in foreign countries is successfully managing the
organisational change necessary to integrate two businesses which may have different cultures,

Bugs Bunny Commercial Analysis
Imagine audiences sitting in the movie theater trying to escape from the looming hardships of
World War II. They sit and watch as the commercials begin to play when one of the most familiar
tunes in animation begins. The commercial presents itself deceptively using the classic Looney
Tunes curtain opening and theme music with the simple title of Bugs Bunny. The only hint at the
true purpose of advertising at this point is the producer listing of the U.S. Treasury Dept.
Defense Savings Staff. The curtains quickly open with an approaching Bugs Bunny miming the
fife with his carrot as The Girl I Left Behind plays in the background. This is all set against a
redrawing of the classic American painting The Spirit of 76. Bugs Bunny then begins to eat the
carrot he s been holding, when he suddenly begins the song Any Bonds Today? . Suddenly, the
purpose of the commercial is finally revealed to the audience, with Bugs song telling people to
buy war bonds. All throughout this he gestures, points and moves with an animated flair for the
audience. He even exits and reenters frame with an Uncle Sam costume, eventually beginning to
act like he s passing out bonds to the audience. Until, with an animated twirl Bugs Bunny appears
with blackface and a different singing voice, a parody of the blackface performance Al Jolson
did in the movie The Jazz Singer. Finally, the picture pulls in close on Bugs face as he wipes
away the paint and once the picture pulls back out the backdrop has changed. It shows a combat
scene full of planes and ships as Elmer Fuddand Porky Pigappear to help close the advertisement
with singing and dancing. As the song ends a simple war bonds ad pulls into frame. It now
presents a Minuteman on the left and texts that reads For Defense Buy United States Savings
Bonds and Stamps. The commercial relies heavily on its ethos and pathos to convince the audience
into buying war bonds, using very little logos.
Furthermore, ethos is used by the commercial with the use of Bugs Bunny as the appeal for the
audience. At this time in American history Bugs Bunny was one the most famous animated
characters often considered fun for the whole family. Also with most fathers gone off to fight in the
war the

The Philosophers Of Aristotle, Plato, And Aristotle
The Big Three were very influential in Greek Mythology, the same can be said for Greek
Philosophy. Just like Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, there was Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates. These
philosophers, Plato and Aristotle were philosophers in ancient Greece who studied ethics, politics,
science, and more. Both Aristotle and Platohad their own beliefs about moral philosophy, but
Aristotle s is more convincing.
Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. Stagira, a town that was north of Athens, and was one of the
greatest thinkers who ever lived. When he got older he decided to enroll in Plato s Academy,
where for two decades he did his research and taught others. His work contributed to logic,
mathematics, physics, ethics, and many more. He was in fact Plato s student whom both studied
under Socrates. He was told by Philip of Macedonia to tutor his thirteen year old son who later on
became one of the greatest military minds in history, Alexander the Great. Even today all of his
work is the starting point of any discussion that involves logic and ethics.
All of Aristotle s research made him come up with his own moral philosophy. He believed that
everything in this world has a purpose, or telos . To achieve our telos human beings have to gain

humans have. Intellectual virtues are ones that can be learned for example, wisdom, loyalty,
intelligence, curiosity, and technique. Moral virtues,

Dbq Stamp Act
a) The Stamp Act was issued in 1765 by Parliament, and it forced colonists to pay a tax on all
printed documents such as newspapers, pamphlets, college diplomas, land titles, and playing
cards. This tariff was created in order to cover part of the cost of stationing the British troops in
America which proved to be very costly. b) In response to this new levy, 9 colonial delegates
were sent to meet at the Stamp Act Congress of 1765 held in New York City. At this meeting,
they protested their loss of American rights and liberties caused by the issuing of the Stamp Act
as well as others like it. The Stamp Act was challenged by the ideas of the constitution and
eventually repealed in 1766. c) Another effect of the implementation of the Stamp Act was the
creation of the Sons of Liberty. The Sons of Liberty was an organization determined to fight for
the rights of the colonists and protect them against heavy taxation by the British. In reaction to the
Stamp Act, the Sons of Liberty burned a statue of Andrew Oliver, a tax collector, as well as
destroyed his newly built home. Other than working to rid of the Stamp Act, the Stamp Act
Congress proved to be successful in organizing a boycott of British goods in order to further prove

The Bass And Sheila Mant Summary
Sydni ScherrDue Date: Friday, Sep.23
Journal 1
I have read The Bass, the River, and Sheila Mant by W.D Wetherell. This story is about a fourteen
year old boy who is trying to impress a seventeen year old girl. In this journal I will be questioning
and evaluating.
G pick Sheila or bass?
Y bass R fish a lot/auto R important doesn t dump rod R big!!!
Y Sheila R attractive/17 R watches her R willing to hide the most important thing in his life
G I think he will pick the fish because he will realize that he s too young
In this story I wonder if the narrator picks the bass over Sheila. One option is that he will pick the
bass. The narrator fishes a ton because he always practices, For example the story states during the

One way she was self centered is when she was always complaining about something. Weather is
was every last noise or when her feet were hurting from being in the canoe. Second is when they
were in the canoe she never once said thank you. She also was always talking about herself and
what she did, and what she enjoyed. She never asked about him and how he was doing. Last she
was speaking her mind and her opinions before thinking, like she had hatred towards fishing, and
that was the narrator passion. Also when Sheila told the narrator he s funny, odd, different, and
dreamy. Sheila was very big headed in many ways, but there s three main points in this story.
First, she was always having huge parties and she only invited the best group in her grade.
Second, she always wants the best of the best. For an example, she was asking the narrator if they
can take her dad s car to the party and not even appreciating the little things. She danced with the
narrator for only a few songs and then ditched him for Eric Caswell and leaving in his Corvette.
Last Shelia never realized or, even appreciated what the narrator did. Even when she would be at
the swim meets the narrator tried his best to at least get her to notice him and she never took
notice. When he tried to make it romantic to take a canoe ride there she almost seemed ungrateful
as she would get settled in not even looking at him. So all of these things that occurred in the story

Essay On Being A Registered Nurse
Having to do things that day to day people think is disgusting. Dealing with blood, giving people

Rhetorical Analysis Of Rob Green s Speech Afraid All Over
I went to TEDxUSD on Saturday, November 5, which is a TED talks that is independently
organized by the University of South Dakota. Multiple people spoke at the event including Rob
Green, Casey Finnicum, Jeff Gould and Lindsey Meyers. This event was hosted in Aalfs
Auditorium on the University of South Dakota campus. The purpose of the speeches was not only
to entertain the audience, but also to inform the audience of topics important to the speaker. They
also used their speeches to persuade the audience. For this criticism, I will talk about Rob Green s
speech, Afraid All Over. His specific goal for the speech was to persuade his audience to not let
fears control your life. He accomplished this by informing us of three ways he got over his... Show

He used basic transitions to connect each part to each other. I thought that the use of simple
transitions was very effective because it kept the atmosphere of storytelling alive. Green used a
call to action as his conclusion to say why you should not let fears get the best of you. He
wanted to make us ponder about how small our world would be if we let fears build up walls in
our life. I enjoyed Rob Green s delivery. He used a story telling atmosphere to his speech and
made the atmosphere feel like we were two old friends talking around the fireplace. His delivery
was solid and I did not feel that any part was distracting. The tone of voice and rate were very
conversational and he used his hands to aid in the story. He did not use his hands too little or too
much. Rob walked around the circle telling his story and moved aside to show us his pictures.
TEDxUSD did not have any podiums to use, but Rob used his whole circle of carpet to speak.
The lighting was just a spotlight on Rob which made it easy for the audience to see him. There
was no question and answer session to his speech. My favorite part of his delivery was the use of
pictures and a video in his presentation. He used them to aid in giving us the full picture of his
experiences. Overall, I thought Rob Green did a fantastic job of

Michael Gerber’s The E-Myth Revisited Essay
Michael Gerber s The E Myth Revisited is great book for anyone thinking of starting a business
venture. Gerber describes how most businesses are started because people are fed up with their
boss, or think they are doing all the work already so why not work for themselves. He states that
every small business consists of three main characters the technician(the doer and builder), the
manager (the planner), and the entrepreneur (the dreamer, visionary). There are life phases in a
small businessthe infancyphase which is the technician s phase, the adolescence phase which is
when the business owner gets some help, beyond the comfort zone, and, maturity and the

Gerber states that Business Format Franchises have reported a success rate of 95 percent in
contrast to the 50 plus percent failure rate of new independently owned businesses. He also states
that where 80 percent of all businesses fail in the first five years, 75 percent of all Business Format
Franchises succeed! These numbers make it very scary to even think of opening your own business.
I found it pretty interesting how the colors of your uniforms, the shapes or symbols on you
business card or sign and even the walls and flooring can affect how successful your business is.
He says that instead of saying Hi, may I help you? try Hi, have you been in here before? By
doing this he says that by doing this one thing your sales will increase between 10 and 16 percent
almost immediately. That is astonishing, and what s even more unbelievable is that almost every
retail shop that you walk into they are still using the Hi, may I help you? routine.
I believe the most important thing to do when opening a business I make sure you have your
primary aim. This is what the owner really wants and wishes for out of his life. By defining this,
the owner will be pushed to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams.
This is a great book. I recommend that everyone thinking of opening a business, or already a
business owner should read this book. It has some very good information that could help out with

Corruption In The Great Gatsby
The American Dream is the belief that you can become prosperous and successful through
dedication and hard work. Fitzgerald uses settings in his novel The Great Gatsby to present the
good, the bad and the ugly sides of the American dream to communicate with the reader and show
the darker side of the time period and the negatives of The American Dream behind the glamour
and glitz, some of which we can even link to today s society. His idea in The Great Gatsbyhowever

Both are portrayed to be desolate places. The Village of Fish consists literally of 12 men and
nothing more. Both settings have a train that runs through them. The significance of this could
be that no journey is without struggle, suffering and sometimes even failure. People set out on a
journey to achieve greatness, but fail and end up in a place such as the Valley of Ashes. There
are great differences though between these two settings. One prominent one is that The Village
of Fish is introduced in great detail to us in chapter two, and aside from a brief mention later on,
is ignored the rest of the tale. The Valley of Ashes however is an important setting. It connects
New York to East and West Egg and is quite an important setting. It is where we first meet Myrtle,
Tom s mistress. It is also where her gruesome demise occurs, so significant events occur here. It is
a huge contrast to the Village of Fish, which doesn t seem very important in Tales of the Jazz Age .

Essay On Multiple Organ Dysfunction Syndrome
Introduction
The aim of this assignment is to reflect on the management of a patient with multiple organ
dysfunction syndrome (MODS). Reflective practice is associated with learning from experience,
(Johns Freshwater 1998) and viewed as an important strategy for health professionals who embrace
life long learning (Department of Health 2000). Engaging in reflective practice is associated with
the improvement of the quality of care, stimulating personal and professional growth and closing
the gap between theory and practice (Benner 1984; Johns Freshwater 1998).
Central to Johns idea of reflective practice is the goal of accessing, understanding and learning
through direct experience. It is this that enables the practitioner to ... Show more content on

The arguments made by Anthropological studies cannot fully account for the development of
Upper Paleolithic culture or rock arts. However, it could be that arts in the European Upper
Paleolithic have entirely different meanings from other arts that ethnographers have been associated
with. Just like in the film, everything in the cave was associated with human life, and nature. The
fact that humans dived deep into caves, in total darkness, with only torches to light their way. Their
journeys sometimes required a long and dangerous routes to reach the desired locations. This
strongly suggests that there was a powerful and definite meaning associated behind the creations of
art in such harsh environment. Our understanding on the explanation of Upper Paleolithic rock art
should not be seen as right or wrong answer, but only incomplete knowledge of the topic. The
artistic style in European Upper Paleolithic must be viewed within a larger context, both of culture
and of the inexplicable change of archaeological records. Ancient humans may well have produced

CYP2D6 inhibitor bupropion XL (a common antidepressant drug) and a 60 mg BID oral dose of

effects. This case study was the first to show the fast acting effect of Dextromethorphan in major
depressive disorder in humans. This adds to the building literature on the antidepressant effects

Oppression In Native American Culture
Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on
tradition throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist
for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native
Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal
respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave
America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the
natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being
any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrativewriting
done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the
oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many
people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw
specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people
to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and
lives.

the UK economy has increased to over forty six billion pounds since the year 2009. This reflects a

The Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, agrees in entirety with the British Fashion Council by
indicating that these figures prove the magnificent contribution that the fashion industry makes to

The Effects Of Technology On The Environment
While it may be evident that technology is altering many aspects of life, increasing amounts of
evidence declare that technology benefits us. While the author s argument makes excellent points,
they believe technology is negatively effecting people s lives. The author demonstrates competence
but lacks rigid evidencedefending his opinionated reasoning. The written article therefore provides
little effectto believing their cause. The author begins their argument by stating information about
an individual who has done countless studies on how learning and technology coexist. However,
the research stated is offered little background. It leads the reader to believe that the studies
unquestionably proved negative effects of technology effecting learning behavior. The author
declares that the studies were on individual classrooms, this leads to many questions on how
accurate and reliable the results were, when looking at a widespread audience. The author fails to
consider the abundance of benefits technology invokes on the environment. In the article the author
states, Multiple studies of violent media games have shown that they can produce many negative

Nursing Shortage in the United States
It is no secret that the United States is currently experiencing a shortage of nurses . The U.S.
Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics ( 2009 ) estimated that more than one million new
and replacement nurses will be needed by 2018 to meet the increased demands of the health care
workforce (). The stressful conditions under which nurses work, due in part to the nursing shortage,
are among the risk factors that contribute to nurses abuse of illicit drugs and alcohol. Nurses are
unique in that they work in an environment where they not only have access to controlled
substances, but also are exposed to critically ill patients, traumatic situations, death and dying, the
stress of which can increase the risk of substance abuse. (Epstein, Burns, Conlon, 2010).
Unfortunately, it is the patient that suffers the most. Substance abuse continues to be a serious
health care concern with millions of American 18 and older using illegal drugs. Substance abuse
occurs across all generations, cultures, and occupations, including nursing. About 1 in 10, or 10
15% of all nurses, may be impaired or in recovery from alcohol or drug addiction(Thomas Siela,
2011). When a nurse is impaired they will not be able to function at their normal capacity, and are
not able to provide quality patient care. They may not be able to think as quickly, and have a

INTRODUCTION Kadushin (1969) first suggested that the general public s perceptions of
psychotherapy were based on popular culture such as movies and television. Since that time,
various authors have agreed with this general position. For example, Hyler (1988) argues that it is
difficult to ignore the potential influence films have on the public s views about therapists when he
states: It is important for [psychotherapists] to be aware of how their profession is depicted in
films, since this is often how our patients, and their families, form their image of us. In many
instances awareness of these images may help us understand the resistance of patients and/or their

Domino (1983) assessed the impact of the film One Flew Over the Cuckoo s Nest on student s
attitudes toward mental illness and its treatment. The results showed that those who viewed the
film had a significantly less positive attitude of mental illness than those who did not. He even
found that a documentary, which was thought to balance the negative impact of the film, had no
effect. Other studies do not support the idea that media portrayals impact those who view them.
For example, Sancho Aldridge and Gunter (1994) investigated the impact of a British television
comedy about psychiatrists on individuals perception of psychiatrists and found that there was no
evidence this 16 television series led to misconceptions or stereotypical views of psychiatry as a
profession. Hodson (2001) argues that whereas television depictions of therapists are often
humorous, it is the portrayals on the big screen that pose the biggest threats to the field due to the
overly biased nature of these portrayals. It seems reasonable to assume that films can capture the
audience s attention to a greater degree than television

The argument here is based on the premise that in today s day and age where we share much

Film Noir s Influence On American Films
After World War II, the American motion picture studios began releasing films shot in black and
white, with a high contrast style known as Film Noir. Though the roots of this style of film was
greatly influenced by the German Expressionist movement in film during the late 1910 early
1920 s, and films that resembled this style were made prior to the war, including the early films
by Fritz Lang, a German director who fled Germany prior to the war to work in America, this film
style would become prevalent during the post WWII era. Besides the shadowed lighting style and
the psychologically expressive mise en scГЁne, the film noirplot lines often surrounded crime
dramas and were greatly influenced by the pulp fiction novels of the period by authors like Dashiell

The Sense Of Suspense And Suspense In Get Out
In addition, the camera angles add the suspense of the film. After coming to the realization that
Rose hit a deer, Chris gets out of the car and hears the deer whining in the woods. Chris then goes
to investigate the woods for the deer and Jordan Peele incorporates mysterious music and close up
shots of Chris to create a feeling of suspense for us. We become anxious and become concerned for
Chris s encounter with the deerin the woods. Will the deer still be alive? Will the deer attack
Chris? Chris enters the woods and sees the deer laying on the ground, with its eyes open looking
up at Chris. At first, this scene did not make sense to me, but later on I realized that this scene
symbolized a hit and run. This scene is important because Chris s mother was killed in a hit and
run and when Chris found out that his mother had died, he became emotionally paralyzed. When
Chris went to look in the woods for the deer, he too became paralyzed looking at the dying deer
laying on the ground. The deer symbol is brought up numerous times throughout the film to portray
the hit and run concept. The suspense and mystery created by the camera shots and sound in this
scene allow Get Out to be successfully classified as a psychological thriller.

Examples Of Lessons In The Chrysalids
Lessons Being Taught in The Chrysalids
Love and faith are both components to survival. In the Chrysalids David loves Rosalind and his
sister Petra and protects them. John Wyndham, the author of the book places this society in a time
after war were mutations are becoming more common so Petra, Rosalind, and David need to run
away to survive or else they will get caught. Also these people in this society are very faithful
(religious) and follow the bible, and if something occurs that the bible does not say then they get
sent to the fringes. The Chrysalids, by John Wyndham teaches valuable lessons about love, survival,
and faith.

To begin with people follow the rules until they come across their own challenges. For one thing
Aunt Harriet having another mutation. As she continues to have mutations she gives up and
finally decides she will keep the baby. This shows that she was a good citizen but as she keeps
experiencing heartbreak she then decides to try and break the rules. Also sometimes being too
faithful is wrong. For example when Angus Morton came with the unusually large horses. I don
t believe it ... god never made horses of these size, the government can t have approved them,
(36). This proves that being too religious is bad because these horses were too big but they work
ten times better and faster but eat the same, so the horses being too big would have helped
really well. Another point is that faith makes people not think for themself. For instance David
knows the bible, has studied it for years but when he sees Sophie s extra toe doesn t understand
why it is so bad. This proves that David does not see the harm in an extra toe but the bible does
not say that it is aloud making everyone think it is bad. Therefore faith is a lesson as the main
idea of the book is being different, and that as people continue to be faithful it may be a dangerous

utilization of water, Federal Government should either find some alternative for proper utilization
of water or declare State of Emergency. The argument strongly support different water ethics
concept. But, this might create a situation where it changes from ethical issue to the political issue.
The whole idea to implement this requires to work on certain prerequisites. Regulating the
equivalent use of water at domestic level is a major ethical issue. Agricultural sector and industries
requires high level of water per day as compared to domestic

Evaluating The Internal Control System
The auditor required to providing a reasonable assurance about the financial statements that they are
free of error or fraud by planning and performing audit work in conformity with GAAS (AU C 240).
According to AU C 240, fraudulent financial reporting and misappropriation of assets are the two
main category of fraud. The auditor should consider the incentive or pressure upon the employee,
evaluating the environment or the opportunities to commit the fraud and looking at the
justifications to committing fraud when he assessing a likelihood of fraud (AU C 240). However,

In addition, the auditor should achieve the understanding of the control environment by evaluating
the management along with honesty level, ethical principles and control environment elements to
determine the risk of misstatement. However, in the internal control evaluation he should consider
the integrity, management level, policies, and responsibilities then planning to obtain sufficient
evidence for supporting his opinion on the internal control (AS 5). CUC had a poor quality in the
internal control system and management put the pressure and incentives to meet Wall Street
expectations. A good example for override of the management on the internal control system was
the revenue recognition. AU C 240 requires significant procedures to the possible risk in

Airline Deregulation Essay
On October 24, 1978, President Carter signed into law the Airline Deregulation Act. The purpose
of the law was to effectively get the federal government out of the airline business. By allowing the
airlines to compete for their customers travel dollars, was the thinking, that fares would drop and an
increased number of routeswould spring up.
Expected Results
The results of airline deregulation speak for themselves. Since the government got out of the
airline business, not only has there been a drop in prices and an increase in routes, there has also
been a remarkable increase in airline service and safety. Airline deregulation should be seen as the
crowning jewel of a federal de regulatory emphasis. Prices are down: Airline ... Show more content

A drop in fares has been the best result of the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. It has been the
impetus for the increase in the number of flights, which in turn has spurred a drive for greater
safety in airlines. But with the current airline market, this development has given us one negative.
Since ticket prices have dropped to new lows, the realities of an industry which operates on such
economies of scale dictates that only a few competitors have the capacity to operate within the
market. This is not the desired effect of either political side on this issue, but it is an economic
necessity with the environment that has been created, very similar to that of public utilities and
phone companies.
The Best of Both Worlds
The U.S. airline market admittedly operates in an oligarchal fashion. But is this not the best
policy for air travel? The success of the large carriers has enabled a drop in fares, and while entry
into the market is difficult, it is not impossible. Upstarts such as Southwest Airlines are able to find
a market niche and exploit it into profitability. Maybe benevolent oligarchy should be the term...
Turn the Market Loose!
Those in the de regulation camp see an opportunity to expand on the Deregulation Act. When the
act was written, the government was taken out of the business of setting fares and routes. But
various municipalities still retain ownership over airports. Given the massive improvements

Essay Comparing Mccandless And Treadwell
The great western planes of the United States, undeveloped, powerful, and majestic; Though
humans try to colonize the vast expanse they cannot do any such thing. From lack of water to
powerful tornados, the colonization is at least partially ceased by nature s own advances. How
can people continue to think that the world is their oyster when it obviously rejects them in so
many ways? Explorers of the sea set out to discover some long lost treasure only to discover a
murky grave below the depths. A man living homeless in a great city of opportunity freezes to
death on a cold winter night. Though these stories are often not heard, they are certainly more
common than expected. When one tries to set out on their own and become a success, nature s
fury seems to get in the way. How can those of today go into a wild environment and expect
everything to be roses and daffodils? The answer, they are... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

For example, Steven Crane wrote the short story, The Open Boat . In this story there are only
four survivors from a wrecked ship. They rode in a unreasonably small dingy trying to combat
the sea where, [t]he horizon narrowed and widened, and dipped and rose, and at all times its edge
was jagged with waves that seemed thrust up in points like rocks (603). The men did all that they

Maggie, A Girl Of The Streets
In Stephen Crane s Maggie, a Girl of the Streets, the reader is given key insight into the daily
lives of a family that is torn apart due to their social environment. The story takes place in a
poverty stricken area called Rum Alley, which is located in the Bowery. The protagonist Maggie
Johnson and her brother Jimmie are shaped by the society that they live in and the interactions
they have. Maggie and Jimmie have abusive, alcoholic parents who constantly berate their kids
for no good reason, resulting in Jimmie becoming an alcoholic and an abusive womanizer.
Maggie was also affected by her social environment, but not in the same way as Jimmie. She was

In the beginning of the novella, it seems as though Jimmie just naturally has a short fuse and is
ready to pick a fight at moments notice, but as the story progresses, the reader comes to the
realization that Jimmie s family is torn apart and fighting constantly, affecting Jimmie in a very
negative way. Even as a child, Jimmie was found in the streets picking fights with other kids his
age. As Jimmie was fighting, his friends egged him on, saying, Smash im Jimmie, kick d face off
im! (Crane 4). He mirrors what he sees in the tenement building he calls home, as his mother resorts
to violence to enforce anything of her liking or to reprimand her children. Jimmie s violent
tendencies were not the only thing he picked up from his mother and father. As Jimmie grows up,
he starts getting involved with alcohol, increasing not only his violent tendencies, but also
increasing the number of flings he has, flirting and seducing women all the time and leaving them
heartbroken after a short period of time, just like his father. Jimmie s behaviour and mannerisms are
dictated based off of his social environment, mainly his household, and it further emphasizes that
Jimmie s social environment strongly influences the way his life turns out and the way he

Misconceptions Of NASA
One of the biggest misconceptions of NASA is the idea of a homogeneous organization. NASA is,
in fact, a conglomeration of different groups with various aims. Sometimes these groups can be at
odds with each other over various organizational resources. The nature of space operations split
these groups within NASAinto two general categories: the Human Destiny camp with human
spaceflight and colonization of space as the ultimate goal and the Science in Space camp focused
on using robotic spaceflight to perform space science.
Spaceflight has a difficulty holding public attention, but robotic spaceflight has a much more
difficult time compared to human spaceflight. Even now regardless of having no active capability

It allows the stifling of differences of opinion. Additionally, it has permitted the development of
an informal chain of command. As you are aware, I was the Flight Director for Apollo 13.
During that mission, as soon as we knew there was a problem we moved quickly to diagnose the
situation and frantically devised a way to get the astronauts safely back to earth. From my
experience, I believe that once you think of surrendering that is the path that you go down. As
soon as you start thinking that way, you really have lost the mental sharpness, the mental edge that
is going to take this survival situation and bring it to a successful conclusion. Sadly, the culture
that was present when I was there is noticeably absent. Linda Ham s attitude is a prime example of
that. She believed that she could not do anything about the problem and did not want to spend the
resources to pursue a solution. That is appalling. If I had taken the same attitude as her, then the
Apollo 13 crew would not have made it back

Kangaroo Care Analysis
The neonatal intensive care unit, or NICU, can often be the first home of a premature baby. For
this baby, there are more developmental marks that become much harder to achieve, compared to a

help them finish developing what would normally be developed in the womb. Due to these
circumstances, what are some of the affects on the development of a preterm infantwhen they stay

Kangaroo care as described by Dr. Susan Ludington, is more than just skin to skin contact.
Kangaroo care is having the infant s chest directly touching the mother s chest (Ludington, 2014).
Kangaroo care provides the opportunity for the baby to bond with whomever is providing the
kangaroo care, mother or father usually (Ludington, 2014). When the mother is using kangaroo care
with the infant, the infant is more likely to start breastfeeding, which is important shortly after birth
so that the infant gets the first dose of breast milk which contains colostrum, which is thought to be
the babies first immunization (Ludington, 2014). According to Kathleen Kuhn and Megan Kuhn,
when using kangaroo care with a premature infant, nurses will help decide when the best time to
hold the baby is. Some benefits of kangaroo care for the mother include a higher production of
milk, the mother feeling closer to the baby, help with coping due to the baby blues , learning to
respond to the baby s needs, increased confidence for the mother, and the initiation of breastfeeding
(Kuhn Kuhn, 2011). Benefits for the baby include sleeping better, crying less, regulation of body
temperature, the ability to move to an open crib sooner, better breathing, weight gain, preparation
for breastfeeding, and more connection with the mother (Kuhn Kuhn,

Nature In King Lear
English poet and playwright, William Shakespeare is universally considered the greatest dramatist
of all time. One of these is his play titled King Lear which is centred on the Renaissance period
where the human being was the focus of central importance rather than divine beings. Unlike his
other plays, Shakespeare chooses to abstain from leaving the play with Lear realising that his
personal tragedy is his own doing but continues by making him see things in a different perspective.
Furthermore, King Learrepresents the merging of self and other what it means to be human. For
instance, this merge of self and other has been brought to life in the play; however it cannot

Tom, he sees another human being. Lear feels guilty for not doing his best to help the poor
when he was still king but he wouldn t have been able to do anything about it especially wanting
to eradicate poverty because no one would have allowed change in the social system. He urges
powerful men to learn about hardship and what it feels like to suffer and not have anyone to
share your troubles with. He also longs for the powerful men to give themselves a chance to be
in the shoes of the poor and maybe give back to them and support them and share the excess of
wealth with them so that the world can be a better place with equality. Lear finally realises that
he is no different to the people whom he saw as invisible, he sees that his personal tragedy is his

  • 2. The Romantic Works Of John Keats, Percy Shelley, And... The romantic period, lasting from the late 18th to the early 19th century, followed the Age of Reason. During this time people had an individualized, free, liberal, and imaginative attitude towards life. Literature itself was full of introspection, emotion, passion, sublimity, beauty, and spontaneity, with subjects such as humankind, the soul, flowers, the common people and more. Of all of the Romantic values and subjects, the beauty, creativity, and morals of nature is what truly inspired human imagination, and thus literature of the eighteenth and early nineteenth century. The underlying theme of nature that is persistent through romantic poetry creates a bond between the poet and the common man through short poems that express personal emotion that all can feel, as we all are connected to nature. This can be seen through the works of John Keats, Percy Shelley, and William Blake. Percy Shelley was a joyful and optimistic Romantic poet of the time who was concerned with the beauty and passions of nature, creativity, and imagination. Nature is an ever present theme in his poetry as he feels closely connected to nature s power. Ode to the West Wind is one of his most notable poems, and one that truly exemplifies the idea of expressing personal emotion and feeling by using metaphors from nature. He uses the west wind to symbolize the power of nature and the imagination that was thus inspired by nature. It was almost even an agent for change. In the poem, the wild West wind ... • 3. Essay on Narrative Style of Little House on The Prairie Narrative Style of Little House on The Prairie When you first start reading Little House on the Prairie you notice it is told through the eyes of a little girl named Laura. Her point of view is very realistic and captivating. She pays very close attention to the details of the day to day living and the events that are happening around her. She also notices how the prairie looks and what the weather is like each day. With her descriptions you can picture everything in your mind clearly, and you feel like you are right there next to Laura living her life. When Laura is describing something she appeals to our senses by informing you how something smells, feels, sounds, or tastes. She describes how Ma makes their food and what ... While Pet and Patty were rolling, Pa pulled all the grass from a large, round space of ground. When the space was clear of grass, Pa laid a handful of dry grass in its center. From the creek bottoms he brought an armful of twigs and dead wood. He laid small twigs and larger twigs and then the wood on the handful of dry grass, and he lighted the grass. Then Pa brought water from the creek, while Mary and Laura helped Ma get supper (28, 29). Another part of the story that Laura describes very deeply was when Pa built the log cabin, chimney, and the well digging. You knew every step and how he did it and what he used to make everything. If a person wanted to, they could probably build a log cabin or dig a well by her descriptions. Laura enjoys describing the way the prairie looks each day because she loves it so much. She pays close attention to the details of the flowers and grasses and how the wind is blowing. The animals on the prairie are described often also since the prairie was full of wildlife back then. You often found her describing the weather too. She found the weather on the prairie very interesting and quite different than the weather in Wisconsin. Day after day was hotter then the day before. The wind was hot. The grass was turning yellow. The whole world was rippling green and gold under the blazing sky. At noon the wind died. No birds ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. What physical evidence does in a criminal trial and the... In the criminal justice system, the best chance of a fair trial and justice lies within cases that include physical evidence. Physical evidence, whether fibers, fingerprints, or DNA, can give a jury proof beyond a reasonable doubt. Physical evidence can convict a criminal, or it can free an innocent man. It can bring closure to families and to the law enforcement that work the cases. The following cases will show what physical evidence does in a criminal trial and the vast impact it can make. For each case I will examine how the physical evidence was important to the case and whether or not it could have made more of a difference if the presentation of the evidence were different. The five cases are: the Mosley case, the Warren case, the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The fact that a murderer was free for years before his DNA helped to solve this crime is of huge significance. The largest contribution of this case was not the conviction of a criminal, but I would consider it to be the release of two men who were charged and later cleared. Many will agree that it is better to let a guilty man go free than it is to imprison an innocent man. In this case, a guilty man is behind bars, and not one, but two innocent men were cleared of charges. The next case may not have led to a conviction, but it certainly would have. Not to mention the significance of closing a case that was over thirty years old. In the next case, Edward Warren murdered an eighty year old mother and grandmother in Oregon in 1976 after her grandson cancelled a visit (Harden, 2009). Warren had been paroled on the very morning of the murder, and may or may not have known that anyone was home at the beginning of the breaking and entering (Harden, 2009). The victim, despite her age, scratched her attacker, and nail scrapings were taken that matched Warren (Springer, 2009). The DNA match was only made after a new system was brought into place with further capabilities (Springer, 2009). Warren later died while incarcerated for two more murders that he admitted to (Harden, 2009). The physical evidence in this case never got to be presented because the DNA system in place at the time of Warren s death wasn t adequate. In addition, Warren murdered two ... • 6. The Healthcare Reimbursements Should Be Linked At The... Executive Summary The idea that the healthcare reimbursements should be linked to the quality outcomes and performance measures is central to the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The legislation provides various reforms that either provide incentives to healthcare providers for better quality services and outcomes or reduce their payments if certain quality standards are unmet. This paper talks about the different reforms under PPACA, aimed at introducing payment variations based on quality of care such as, Hospital Value Based Purchasing (VBP) program, improvements to different quality reporting programs, payment adjustments for hospital acquired conditions (HAC), reduction of hospital readmission rates (HRRP), testing for ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Introduction United States has no dearth of highly qualified, well trained doctors and still the US healthcare quality fails to meet the established industry benchmarks. Institute of Medicine s (IOM s) 2001 Report, Crossing the Quality Chasm , clearly states that the American healthcare delivery system is in need of a pivotal change. (Committee on Quality of Healthcare in America (Institute of Medicine), 2001). The exasperation level is continuously rising amongst both, the patients and the providers, and yet the problem of delivering and receiving high quality care remains unaffected. In order to address this problem of healthcare quality improvement and affordability, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA or Obamacare) was signed in the year 2010. The main aim behind PPACA is to improve healthcare quality and accessibility, at the same time keeping it cost efficient. To facilitate its goal PPACA is trying to achieve the cost effectiveness through reducing the Medicare price growth and regulating the quantity of care by encouraging evidence based practices. This new legislation supports the healthcare system in which the goals of both provider and the patients are better aligned with value as opposed to the quantity of services. Overall the reform under PPACA seeks to establish a direct link between the payments made to the healthcare ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the article entitled Extracurricular activities and the development of social skills in children with intellectual and specific learning disabilities the authors begin to explain why children with intellectual and specific learning disabilities social skills are absent. According to Brooks, Floyd, Robins, and Chan, participation in social activities is positively related to children s social adjustment, but little is known about the benefits of activity participation for children with intellectual and specific disabilities (2015, p. 678). The Second hypothesis states that given their greater need for improving social competence, we predicted that participation in out of school activities would have a greater impact on predicting social competence for children with intellectual disability or a specific learning disability than for an age matched typically developing comparison group (Brooks, Floyd, Robins, and Chan, 2015, p. 680). • 8. The Measure Of Concealed Weapons Onto College Campuses The ability to carry concealed weapons onto college campuses has always been an area of contention. In 1990, Congress passed the Clery Act which created gun free zones in primary and secondary schools. Around that same time many states passed laws prohibiting weapons on college campuses as well. (Lyons, 2017) In recent years there has been a stronger focus on college related shootings and deaths which has re ignited the conversation regards concealed weapons on college campuses. The most prominent political value that is in conflict with itself is freedom. The 2nd Amendment of the United States Constitution grants citizens the right to bear arms. For opponents of concealed carry on campuses, they argue that by having guns on college campuses, they are less free. Freedom is so ambiguous because it is completely subjective to every individual. What makes one individual feel free might make another individual terrified. Another political value that is in conflict with itself is security. People who are for concealed carry at universities claim that it would be for their security. Since 2002, 64 people have been killed in mass shootings on college campuses. (Lyons, 2016) One individual is quoted as saying that The only way to stop a bad guy with a gun is with a good guy with a gun. (Lyons, 2017) This quote conveys the feelings of many concealed carry supporters who say that they do not feel safe being restricted as to where they can and cannot carry their personal weapon. Opponents of this idea claim that allowing guns on college campuses would conflict with their own personal safety. Many say that the more weapons we have on college campuses, the more likely an attack or accident is to happen. An idea that has been tossed around would be to allow only faculty and staff to carry concealed weapons. However, opponents still have some hesitations. Daniel Webster of Johns Hopkins University stated that if faculty and staff were permitted to bring guns onto college campuses, there should be ... strict rules and protocols for securing the ... The then Lieutenant Colonel(LTC) Jones oversaw my Infantry Battalion when I deployed to Ramadi, Iraq. He displayed numerous attributes that I model my military career from; he had an unwavering presence and strong intellect. His competence was also the highest that I have ever encountered in my military career; he was a lead from the front type of leader and strove to achieve nothing but success whilst keeping the soldiers in his command in the front of his mind. I have set my standards of leadership off BG Jones and that is why he is my personal leader of influence. I will outline some examples of him throughout this paper. BG Jones has an... He could keep his calm, cool manner and think a situation through before reacting. I think that being able to think things through no matter the situation speaks volumes to what a leader needs to be. He also showed that not every situation needed to be thought out at that time. He was known to have thought of contingency plans prior to actions as to cut out reaction time needed due to him thinking it through before implementation and able to switch tactics on the fly. He showed this attribute multiple times but one example sticks out in my mind s eye. We had set up a forward position in Ramadi in what we thought was a hostile minimal area. Once we had set up our hasty area for command and control of an impending raid we came under small arms fire and a mortar attack. He had set up sectors of fire and counter fire areas before we had set up even though we were told numerous times that it was not needed. Due to his intellect, he had taken it into advisement but had planned on it not being as such and we were able to respond in kind and repel any such attack. I learned from him that no matter what happens you need to think things through and show a strong intellect so your soldiers are confident in your decisions and believe in you. For instance, I believe the sorcerer chose Allan as his apprentice because of his father Richard Jackson. Richard was a man that did not show many emotions and keep them under control even when time were difficult. I think the sorcerer saw the same potential in Allan at first, but could also see Allan s eagerness to please. That is why the Sorcerer would only assign Allan normal daily chores at first. The Sorcerer wanted Allan to remain humble and believed making Allan perform normal day to day chores were a perfect lesson. This policy complies with the Computer Misuse Act (1990) which was an act made to secure computer systems and networks from unapproved access. By complying with legal obligation, Blyth s Books can pursue legal or disciplinary action against anyone (employee or otherwise) guilty of breaching their systems. WEAKNESSES The Data Protection Act (1998) provides the principles which must be adhered to in order to ensure the total protection of data while the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 27035 presents organisations with guidance in the management of information security incidents. This standard stipulates that an organisation should have a clear and concise information security incident management policy. The security incident management policy of Blyth s Books while compliant with the Computer Misuse Act (1990) does not show that it is compliant with the Data Protection Act (DPA) (1998) and the DPA (1998) being a legal aspect of the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) 27035, which must be adhered to, this policy is also not compliant with the standard. ... • 15. Challenges Facing New Markets, Multinational Corporations... Introduction When entering new markets, multinational corporations (MNCs) often form strategic alliances with local companies. An alliance is where two or more organisations integrate to form a strategic, business relationship (Finlay, 2000). The potential benefits of such alliances include access to knowledge and resources, building a global network, market access, recognition and access to a distribution network which can all provide MNCs with a competitive advantage in a foreign market. However, MNCs also face many challenges when forming alliances in other countries including loss of intellectual property, different expectations, various challenges of globalisation (e.g. more stringent regulations being imposed on foreign firms), ethical and cultural considerations and change management. This essay will focus on two of these challenges in depth change management and cultural adaptation. However within these sections, certain other topics will also be considered including leadership, innovation and diversity and globalisation. • 17. Bugs Bunny Commercial Analysis Imagine audiences sitting in the movie theater trying to escape from the looming hardships of World War II. They sit and watch as the commercials begin to play when one of the most familiar tunes in animation begins. The commercial presents itself deceptively using the classic Looney Tunes curtain opening and theme music with the simple title of Bugs Bunny. The only hint at the true purpose of advertising at this point is the producer listing of the U.S. Treasury Dept. Defense Savings Staff. The curtains quickly open with an approaching Bugs Bunny miming the fife with his carrot as The Girl I Left Behind plays in the background. This is all set against a redrawing of the classic American painting The Spirit of 76. Bugs Bunny then begins to eat the carrot he s been holding, when he suddenly begins the song Any Bonds Today? . Suddenly, the purpose of the commercial is finally revealed to the audience, with Bugs song telling people to buy war bonds. All throughout this he gestures, points and moves with an animated flair for the audience. He even exits and reenters frame with an Uncle Sam costume, eventually beginning to act like he s passing out bonds to the audience. Until, with an animated twirl Bugs Bunny appears with blackface and a different singing voice, a parody of the blackface performance Al Jolson did in the movie The Jazz Singer. Finally, the picture pulls in close on Bugs face as he wipes away the paint and once the picture pulls back out the backdrop has changed. It shows a combat scene full of planes and ships as Elmer Fuddand Porky Pigappear to help close the advertisement with singing and dancing. As the song ends a simple war bonds ad pulls into frame. It now presents a Minuteman on the left and texts that reads For Defense Buy United States Savings Bonds and Stamps. The commercial relies heavily on its ethos and pathos to convince the audience into buying war bonds, using very little logos. Furthermore, ethos is used by the commercial with the use of Bugs Bunny as the appeal for the audience. At this time in American history Bugs Bunny was one the most famous animated characters often considered fun for the whole family. Also with most fathers gone off to fight in the war the ... • 19. The Philosophers Of Aristotle, Plato, And Aristotle The Big Three were very influential in Greek Mythology, the same can be said for Greek Philosophy. Just like Zeus, Poseidon and Hades, there was Aristotle, Plato, and Socrates. These philosophers, Plato and Aristotle were philosophers in ancient Greece who studied ethics, politics, science, and more. Both Aristotle and Platohad their own beliefs about moral philosophy, but Aristotle s is more convincing. Aristotle was born in 384 B.C. Stagira, a town that was north of Athens, and was one of the greatest thinkers who ever lived. When he got older he decided to enroll in Plato s Academy, where for two decades he did his research and taught others. His work contributed to logic, mathematics, physics, ethics, and many more. He was in fact Plato s student whom both studied under Socrates. He was told by Philip of Macedonia to tutor his thirteen year old son who later on became one of the greatest military minds in history, Alexander the Great. Even today all of his work is the starting point of any discussion that involves logic and ethics. All of Aristotle s research made him come up with his own moral philosophy. He believed that everything in this world has a purpose, or telos . To achieve our telos human beings have to gain experience by achieving traits, also known as virtues. There are two different types of traits that humans have. Intellectual virtues are ones that can be learned for example, wisdom, loyalty, intelligence, curiosity, and technique. Moral virtues, ... At this meeting, they protested their loss of American rights and liberties caused by the issuing of the Stamp Act as well as others like it. The Stamp Act was challenged by the ideas of the constitution and eventually repealed in 1766. c) Another effect of the implementation of the Stamp Act was the creation of the Sons of Liberty. • 29. Oppression In Native American Culture Native Americans, the true founders of America, are best known for having a tight grip on tradition throughout the years. Tradition is a way that Native Americans have been able to coexist for so long, and is also a way that natives have found stability from tribe to tribe. As Native Americans graciously welcomed colonists into the new world years ago, they did not receive equal respect in return. The colonists invading America gave natives a harsh ultimatum, to either leave America, or conform to the new society that would soon destroy the teepees and farmlands the natives considered home. The oppression from the colonists, gave natives the incentive that being any race other than white was not something to be proud of. Through the use of narrativewriting done by Native Americans, readers are given an opportunity to see history through the lens of the oppressed. This further gives an opportunity for readers understand the very situation that many people who may even look like them once had to deal with. This allows us to not only draw specific conclusions about this period of oppression, but it displays how easy it can be for people to fall into very specific standards, and conform to societies that do not protect their values, and lives. The U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics ( 2009 ) estimated that more than one million new and replacement nurses will be needed by 2018 to meet the increased demands of the health care workforce (). Since that time, various authors have agreed with this general position. For example, Hyler (1988) argues that it is difficult to ignore the potential influence films have on the public s views about therapists when he states: It is important for [psychotherapists] to be aware of how their profession is depicted in films, since this is often how our patients, and their families, form their image of us. In many instances awareness of these images may help us understand the resistance of patients and/or their families to medication or other types of therapy, or their unreal expectation,... The results showed that those who viewed the film had a significantly less positive attitude of mental illness than those who did not. He even found that a documentary, which was thought to balance the negative impact of the film, had no effect. Other studies do not support the idea that media portrayals impact those who view them. For example, Sancho Aldridge and Gunter (1994) investigated the impact of a British television comedy about psychiatrists on individuals perception of psychiatrists and found that there was no evidence this 16 television series led to misconceptions or stereotypical views of psychiatry as a profession. Hodson (2001) argues that whereas television depictions of therapists are often humorous, it is the portrayals on the big screen that pose the biggest threats to the field due to the overly biased nature of these portrayals. After coming to the realization that Rose hit a deer, Chris gets out of the car and hears the deer whining in the woods. Chris then goes to investigate the woods for the deer and Jordan Peele incorporates mysterious music and close up shots of Chris to create a feeling of suspense for us. We become anxious and become concerned for Chris s encounter with the deerin the woods. Will the deer still be alive? Will the deer attack Chris? Chris enters the woods and sees the deer laying on the ground, with its eyes open looking up at Chris. At first, this scene did not make sense to me, but later on I realized that this scene symbolized a hit and run. This scene is important because Chris s mother was killed in a hit and run and when Chris found out that his mother had died, he became emotionally paralyzed. When Chris went to look in the woods for the deer, he too became paralyzed looking at the dying deer laying on the ground. The deer symbol is brought up numerous times throughout the film to portray the hit and run concept. The suspense and mystery created by the camera shots and sound in this scene allow Get Out to be successfully classified as a psychological thriller. A drop in fares has been the best result of the Airline Deregulation Act of 1978. It has been the impetus for the increase in the number of flights, which in turn has spurred a drive for greater safety in airlines. But with the current airline market, this development has given us one negative. Since ticket prices have dropped to new lows, the realities of an industry which operates on such economies of scale dictates that only a few competitors have the capacity to operate within the market. This is not the desired effect of either political side on this issue, but it is an economic necessity with the environment that has been created, very similar to that of public utilities and phone companies. The Best of Both Worlds The U.S. airline market admittedly operates in an oligarchal fashion. But is this not the best policy for air travel?
