Although I live in the United States, contrary to the image given through
Hollywood movies, less than one percent of Americans live in wealth akin to kings
or queens or other monarchies. For example, as a child I lived in a home sans
modern plumbing. Such homes were called dry homes , which were built during the
depression era. As children, my siblings and I transported water from a faucet in the
front yard into the house for drinking, washing dishes, and bathing. The sole
plumbing indoors was the toilet; and, similar to those depicted in western movies,
we had a wash pan and water pitcher inlieu of a bathroom basin. For winter months,
we were always careful to insulate the faucet pipes to prevent freezing so we would
have water during the cold seasons.
Needless to say, as an adult, I have a respect for water and an appreciation for
modern plumbing. In light of these facts, I would reason that my personal impact on
the water cycle are at most minimal. In our home we are careful not to waste water.
For example, a filled half gallon BPA free bottle displaces about one third of the
water in the toilet tank, which conserves water with each use. Another example
would be the use of a dishpan instead of the dishwasher that conserves substantial
quantities of water. (However, the dishwasher is utilized weekly on an energy
efficient setting, to sanitize clean dishes.)

Essay On Stanislavski
Constantin Stanislavski was known as a Russian direction and stage actor who had
discovered and developed a naturalistic performance technique, which is now
known as method acting. Stanislavski was interested and started to work in the
theatre business when he was only 13, and developed himself into becoming a
director (Bishop and Jones). He was born in Moscow, Russia in 1863 and by 1897 he
has already developed his own company known as the Moscow Art Theatre, where
performances used method actingand actors were allowed to express their personal

Death And The King Horseman Analysis
In an interview with The Guardian (2009) Wole Soyinka explained that the
motivation behind writing Death and the King s Horseman was a bust of colonialist,
Winston Churchill. To Soyinka, Churchill signified the breaking of the Yoruba
culture and traditions. The idea for the play came from an instance during the
colonial period in Nigeria, when the British intervened in the traditional suicide of a
king s horseman.
The title itself already makes reference to a Nigerian ritual in which the horseman
of a king must kill himself after the death of the king (McNulty, 2011:2). The
biggest event of cultural misunderstanding is evident in Act II when the British
Officer, Pilkings, orders that Elesin Oba (the horseman) be arrested. Joseph (the
stableboy) tells the Pilkingses how it is tradition for the king to be burried a
month after his death but, before he can be burried, his dog, his steed and his
horseman must die to be able to accompany him to heaven. For long this tradition is
questioned and contested by the Pilkingses because how can something like that
make sense to anybody? It is only once Olunde shows up in Act IV that the
playwright changes the context. Olunde compares the suicide of the horseman to
the mass killing of soldiers. He judges the Western customs of war in the same way
the Westerners criticized his traditions and people. And when Simon manages to
stop Elesin from killing himself, Olunde turns his back on his father at first, after
which all the people from the market insults Elesin. His failure in the task is seen as
a weak will.

The function of the innocent heroine in gothic literature is, primarily, to follow her

Britain s today were not even imaginable to the people at that time. Today much of
the help that is available to those in the margins of society is seen as an obligation

My Field Experience At S Bryan Jennings Elementary
My field experience took place at S Bryan Jennings Elementary in Mrs.Reid s second
grade classroom for a little over a month. During my time within the classroom I
observed the subjects: reading, mathematics, and phonics, science, and writing. I also
observed a teacher planning period. When I was within the classroom I observed the
techniques the teacher used in the subjects, the programs used, the children s abilities
with the subjectand/or topic, the students struggles within the subject and/or topic,
the teachers struggles with students who did not understand, and the stereotypes that
applied and/or did not apply to the classroom, teacher, and students. Within this
dissertation, I will describe and focus on these observations in a more specific way
following with observed examples.
Mrs. Reid has 16 students consisting of five females and eleven males. One of the
five females was a minority; she was Asian. Five of the eleven males were also
minority decent, such as oriental, African American, ect. On a side note, within the
second grade class there was also Hattian decent students. Five of the eleven males
left at some point during the week for more specific teachings to their ability, such
ESE, ELOS, or gifted; the same five minority males were NOT the same five that
left during the week. Only one of the five males that left during the week was for
gifted; he was Caucasian. The other four that left were of the minority. None of the
four were Asian.

warriors lived and died by. Under the code of Bushido, Seppuku (Harakiri) was the
