Marie Curie s Life And Accomplishments
Marie Curie is an inspiration to many women because of her dedication to scientific discovery that
resulted in her being the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. It was, and still is, difficult for women to
establish themselves in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field as
related professions have historically been male dominated. However, Marie Curie s work with
radiation and the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry that followed opened the door of possibilities
for women wishing to pursue a career in science. I have heard Marie Curie s name all throughout my
life, but I recently adopted her as an inspiration myself upon deciding to major in biochemistry next
fall. In times of great struggle, she will be a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some may read this and ponder if there is any way that this could not indicate her heroism. However,
her extreme intelligence, although it may have assisted her in carrying out her studies, was not
something that could have foreshadowed her genius. There are plenty of people who graduate a year
or two early who do not go on to discover new elements. Also, Curie decided to take a year off from
her studies after high school to live in the country, and as she allowed herself to become more carefree
and less responsible she also became lazy. She even wrote to her best friend from Warsaw to tell her
that ...in spite of the diploma conferring on [her] the dignity and maturity of a person who has finished
[her] studies, [she felt] stupid (Curie 40). Although this might not fit the normal route for someone of
her intelligence to take regarding her studies, this is still a normal route that many high school students
take today. This normality still did not indicate anything about her heroism that would come about
soon, and nothing would indicate it in the years to follow as she stayed behind to support her family.
While her sister Bronya went off to study in Paris, Marie became a governess to help pay for her sister

Systematic Organization in Learning
When you classify music in genres, terms such as Classical can be rather broad, and it can include
both Classical time period (1750 1820) and pieces from the 19th to 21st century. For example, a piece
written by J.S. Bach, can be classified as Classical, it is technically more suitably defined as being in
the Baroque genre because it is different in terms of sound quality ,composition technique,
instrumentation and arrangement.
In conclusion, systematic organization of facts is not fruitful as arts are full of opinions and
perspectives. It is difficult to systematize aspects of Arts that are based on personal Knowledge rather
it is more subjectivity than propositional ways of knowing. Even if you can systematically organize
things such as musical notes in music, the purpose of music is to communicate feelings and emotion,
and this cannot be just done by reading the musical notes to play. The technique and intention of the
performance included in it. Therefore system in Arts is not as necessary as it is in areas like Natural
Science as Arts is not only based on facts which leads me to an argument such as whether or not it is
always necessary for knowledge to be based on facts in order for that knowledge to be considered
adequately justified.
The second Areas of Knowledge I will be discussing is natural sciences. I take Biology so I chose to
focus on Biology so that I can talk from my experience. System is often used in Natural Sciences in
order to help organize a

The Use Of Dna Tests For Hair And Blood Samples
Evidence to Convict Innocent People
Scientific breakthroughs now allow the use of DNA tests for hair and blood samples that are about as
reliable as fingerprint matching. While the evidence assists law enforcement, it allows defense
attorneys to reopen cases to reevaluate solving crimes.
Introduction
When was the last time you have mistaken someone s identity? What did the last person in class have
on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the investigative process. Police misconduct or
mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin the rest of a person s life. The criminal justice system can be
changed to prevent the latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be used when convicting a
person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which begin with the assumption
that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which contains an articulate eyewitness testimony.
Police Initiated
Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the police focus on
one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. Tunnel vision usually obtains biases and
the real criminal gets off free. They contain faulty labs, the old boy method , and manufacturing
evidence to fill in holes. They also contain police misconduct by the use of snitches (con game),
accomplices (turning in of a partner for a lighter sentence), and coerced confessions. Witness Initiated
Witness initiated convictions are usually for

Examples Of Foolishness In Twelfth Night
Human nature has a tendency to be rather foolish. The topic of foolishness is shown and developed
throughout Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare. Foolishness is developed using the actions of the
characters and through Feste s observations. This topic is important in this play because it exposes
how foolishness is part of human life. The characters in this play act foolish throughout the play. Duke

The Paperhanger
deserted their mansion. One night, the girl s mother decided to return to the mansion and look for her
daughter. It is here where she encounters the paperhanger once more. During this scene, the mother
offers to pay him to drive her into the woods and look for her daughter. He replied, I wouldn t charge
anybody anything to search for a child s body. But she s not in the woods. Nothing could have stayed
hidden, the way these woods were searched (165). By offering to help the child s mother the
paperhanger gains the mother s trust. To the reader, he appears to be helping the mother during a time
of need, making him a decent friend. The paperhanger manipulated the situation, to get the girl s
mother to trust him and consequently leave with him. He knew the child would not be found, not
because the woods were extensively searched, but because he remains. The paperhanger was supposed
to drive the child s mother to the woods, but instead drives her to a cemetery. After noticing that some
of the graves had been dismantled and robbed, she tells the paperhanger. He responded by saying, You
can t rob the dead. They have nothing left to steal (167). The woman was shocked by his response and
then asked him if he had robbed the graves. He responded by saying, The line between grave robbing
and archeology has always looked a little blurry to me. I was studying their culture trying to get a fix
on what their lives were like (168). This is the turning place in the story, where the

History Of The Massachusetts Bay Colony
The Massachusetts Bay Colony was one of the thirteen colonies of North America found on 1630.
John Winthrop, founder of the colony, brought along the Puritans on the Arabella to settle in the New
World. The Puritans strived to establish a religious society in which they can practice and express their
beliefs and ethics freely. One in which was required to be strictly followed throughout the entire
community. The belief of god was very important to the Puritans. They believed that the Anglican
Church, England s religious establishment, needed to be cleansed of the influence of Catholicism.
They believed that God makes all decisions and that God chose them to be who they are. However

Jack Lord Of The Flies Quote Analysis
Effective leaders need to be flexible, and must adapt themselves according to the situation. The book
Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of british boys that get stranded on a island and
they have to figure how a way to govern themselves. Jack s effective leadership throughout the novel
led to great triumph.
First I will talk about my first piece of evidence about how Jack is an effective leader. He d never have
gotten us meat. He isn t a prefect and we don t know anything about him. He just gives orders and
expects people to obey for nothing. (Golding,PDF, 98) This quote shows that Ralph wouldn t of done
anything to hunt for meat for the boys on the island like Jack did. Ralph only worried about keeping
the fire alive to have them get rescued, and not about hunting for food to stay alive. Also, you can t
just expect people to do orders when you don t have anything to give them in return. Jack gave the
other boys meat when he gave them orders. By Jack giving the ... Show more content on

was full of noise and excitement, scramblings, screams and laughter. The assembly shredded away and
became a discursive and random scatter from the palms to the water and away along the beach,
beyond night sight. (Golding,PDF,70) This quote is showing that Jack is a good leader. Ralph is
making the other boys scared of the beast, but Jack is getting the boys excited to go and do something
about the beast. Like a good leader would do in this situation. Jack doesn t want the boys to be scared
of the beast anymore, so he gets them to come with him so they can face their fears, and not be scared
anymore of the beast. Jack s leadership is getting to the boys, since Jack has natural leadership and can

Participant Observation Methods
I found that the participant observation method was the most helpful and easiest method to use. I was
able to talk with the firemen about their experiences and see how they interacted. I also worked out
with them and sat around talking with them. This method allowed me to get information about their
interactions because I could easily observe them talking amongst themselves and to me. One of the
downsides of this method was that I could not record information as I was observing. Writing down
what they were saying and what was going on would seem rude and would be hard to do. I had to wait
until leaving the firehouse before recording what happened. This led to more vague information
because of forgetting things. The phenomenological method

The European Union And The United States
The European Union and the United States are currently negotiating the Transatlantic Trade and
Investment Partnership (TTIP). The TTIP is labelled a free trade agreement, involving the removal of
non tariff barriers between the the US and EU, harmonizing and reducing regulatory requirements and
differences in legislation on various goods produced and traded within these countries. If agreed, it
will create the world s largest free trade zone in the world. Serious concerns have been raised in
regards to the effects of the secretive TTIP on various industries and employees within the EU. TTIP

Leaked documents about the agreement have revealed the proposed inclusion of Investment State
Dispute Settlements (ISDS), which can be viewed as a neoliberal attack on democracy, resulting in
immeasurable effects on EU governments such as the UK s. This mechanism is designed to protect
foreign organisations investing in another country, and allows companies to claim and sue against that
country if a conflict arises that will limit their profits. The ISDS lies in the foreign corporations favour,
but not in the governments, limiting the UK and many other EU countries governmental authority,
binding them strictly to the rules of the TTIP. ISDS works like a global legal straightjacket that makes
it very, very difficult and expensive for governments to regulate corporations ... It is dangerous for
democracy, claims Pia Eberhardt, of Corporate Europe Observatory (CEO), a Brussels based
campaign group. As a result, the UK government may neglect the rights of workers and domestic
organisations in order to avoid conflict with multinational US corporations; stealthily, the neoliberal
theory underhandedly infiltrating through.
This neo liberal approach of a reduction in the governments authority could threaten organisations
such as the NHS, privatizing the public service to American Investors, the ISDS compensation rules

Non-Conformity in The Catcher in the Rye and Igby Goes...
The Catcher in the Rye¬ and Igby goes down, written by JD Salinger and Burr Steers respectively,
explore the issue of non conformity among youth. As Steers text is an appropriation of Salinger s,
similar ideas and opinions are presented, however they are affected by both context and medium in the
way that they are conveyed, and the composers view on the issues. Despite this, their purpose remains
the same, and that is to show the positive and negative sides of non conformism on the mental and
physical health of contemporary youth. The issues used to convey this purpose are conformity,
growing up and relationships, however these are all intertwined throughout the two texts.
The most direct way that the composers explore the issue of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In contrary to this, the difference in medium in Steers Igby Goes Down does not allow for this vessel
of empathy; rather, the audience empathises with the character of Igby by seeing his physical reaction
to the events around him. For example, the scene where he begs Sookie to come away with him
through a closed door uses the techniques of misc en scene and symbolism to show the dramatic effect
of the situation on Igby. The audience sees the reactions of Igby and Sookie with only one character
on screen at a time, even though they are so close. In this scene, the door acts as a barrier and a
symbol that they are far apart, which is representative of their gap in age and why Sookie feels she is
more suited to Igby s brother. Through this issue and the techniques used, Salinger and Steers are able
to show the effects of non conformism on contemporary youth.
Another theme that is explored in both The Catcher in the Rye and Igby Goes Down is growing up.
Essentially, both of these texts are a rite of passage novel, where we see the protagonist develop
though their time of adolescence in search for individuality. The journey that the characters in each of
the texts take is originally similar, but result in different outcomes. In Salinger s text, the character of
Holden attempts to stay innocent in the corrupt society in which he lives. Salinger, through this, is

Grendel And Beowulf Comparison
Beowulf and Grendel are two well written pieces of literature that feature a monster like figure and his
struggle to overcome his urge to kill. Based on the passages read, the poem and book feature the same
basic plot line. However, the stories reflection of the main character show both similarities and
differences due to Beowulf s third person point of view compared to Grendel s first person point of
view. Ultimately, the change of perspective between the two stories does not not impact the outer
appearance of Grendel, but rather the inner personality.
The two excerpts introduce us to the main character Grendel, who is displayed as a monster on the
outside. Both passages give some deep insight on the character developed throughout

Popular Musical Development And Societal Development
The Start of Tropicalismo
Popular musical development and societal development are usually parallel with one another. Artists
and musicians can change a society and have an enormous impact on how a country runs itself. A
good example of how a country can be influenced by new, innovative music would be the
Tropicalismo movement. Caetano Veloso is a Brazilian musician that started the Tropicalia movement
and created music that combined many elements of different music together, and Veloso did this with
other tropicalists. The background of Caetano Veloso, the two songs Caetano Veloso produced,
information about Tropicalia, and the background of Brazil can help us comprehend how music has a
great impact and influence on society. Tropicalia is more than just a music genre produced in the late
1960s, but a social political movement that radically changed the way Brazilians saw contemporary
Brazilian music.
Caetano Veloso s start as a Brazilian musician was back in 1942 when Veloso finished school in Santa
Amaro, and he moved to Salvador where he learned how to play the guitar and sing. (Veloso, Caetano)
Veloso would spend his time at bars with his sister and perform music for people s entertainment.
Veloso met Gal Costa, Gilberto Gil, and Tom Zé in 1963 where they started musical shows as a group.
(Veloso, Caetano) One of the musical shows that they started was Vila Velha theatre with Veloso
directing the theatre. In 1965, Veloso left Federal University of Bahia to go to Rio de

water is pretty important. To say water is pretty important for the world is an understatement. We use
water to function. And when we think of water we think of saving it. Keep the faucets from dripping

Except for those who take a look and take the time to discover the causes. One of the many causes of
the oceanic dead zones is synthetic fertilizers. For Arizona, changes in the weather tends to mean
cooler air and some waterworks, which is a balm to our constant heat. However, for the ocean, climate
change can be a deadly change. Though, it does not seem a likely cause, changes in currents, tides and
winds can disperse the borders of dead zones. In the northwest pacific dead zones can be up to 20,000
sq miles and winds can spread the dead zones and make them larger (Pope). Causing all marine life
who are unable to swim away to die. When searching for sea life in one of these dead zones a marine
biologist, Jane Lubchenco, said, it was so overwhelming and depressing to see only the bones of those
animals left behind (Weiss). Strong winds are producing plankton to quickly at higher sea levels and
isn t being consumed quick enough by fish (Weiss). The left over plankton dies falling to the ocean
floor and begins to decay. Which then causes a dead zone or spreads and already dead zone farther
out. It wouldn t be a problem if upper waters pushed oxygen to the rotting areas, but in Oregon, there
has been a change with the wind. The wind is now pushing areas without oxygen to shallow waters
and closer to shore (Pope). So, instead of taking oxygen to the dead zones, the winds are

Comparison Of Edward Abbey And Ralph Waldo Emerson
Since the beginning of time, man and nature have coexisted with one another. Before civilizations
began and industrialization spread, all that was in the world was nature and man. Both Edward Abbey
and Ralph Waldo Emerson, viewed nature as something which made us complete as a person. Abbey
claims nature both bore us and sustains us . They believe we owe everything to nature. Nature has
provided us opportunities to grow and prosper as an individual, yet what Abbey and Emerson failed to
recognize is the importance of community. Both men believed one could truly understand himself by
escaping society and pursuing the serenity of nature. This theory has its faults, for while moments of

Unrelated Adoptions with an Emphasis on the Adoption of Infants
Introduction
Adoption is the process in which an adult legally becomes the guardian to a child or children that are
not biologically their own (Legal Information Institute, n.d.). Through adoption, a new family is
created and rather than looking at it as one event which many people mistakenly do it is a lifelong
process that has an effect on every aspect of all parties involved. While there are many different
components of adoption, this paper has a strong emphasis of unrelated adoptions, or adoptions by
adults who are not in any way biologically related to the child, and when fit, the adoption process and
effects specific to infants.
According to Crosson Tower (2013), adoption was originally intended for the benefit of the adoptive
parents. They would use adoption to carry on the family name or ensure they would have enough
workers/income for example. By the year 1929, all states in America had some form of adoption. Most
of the adoptions carried out at this time were from orphanages and orphan trains. It was not until the
early twentieth century where the emphasis was on the best interest of the child . Some of the biggest
strides made in adoption occurred in the1980 s where subsidies were given to families who adopted
children with special needs and permanency plans where

Religion serves as a sanctuary from the harshness of everyday life and oppression by the powerful.

Jim would provide clothing, medical care, food, and anything else that his followers needed. They

sell all things and have things in common. Religion, especially Jones s, binds members and allows
them to have common values and beliefs. His followers sold everything they had and gave all of their
money to the church, including their pay checks. His followers trusted in him, so they did and acted
however he said. Jim began to take complete control over every aspect of these people s lives. His
followers were idolizing him and putting him before family, work, and everything else in their lives.
As time passed, Jim Jones and the movement began to change. Some say that Jones began to lose
control. He began drinking and using drugs and started to go crazy. Jim Jones became extremely
paranoid and thought the whole world was against him and his movement. Jones was so paranoid that
he even started to fear for his own life. He compared himself and his movement to Malcom X and
Martin Luther King Jr., which were both assassinated, so he was afraid the same would happen to him.
Jones was desperate to get his followers away from the negative influences of the public. As the
officials, public, and family members started to ask questions and wonder about things, Jones felt as if
he was starting to lose all the control that he had gained and he did not want to risk

In addition, Mrs. Atkins enlightened me that with any friction, you must have a plan to maintain the
company s status. For example, she made a chart on the steps to take to ensure that the college s image
did not diminish and that including faculty and staff is critical. Although confidentiality is good, you
cannot misinform the media because that could lead to a disaster.
Second Point: Adobe Creative Suite
My first attempt with Adobe Creative Suite was during my practicum. Ms. Castillo showed me a few
tasks in Photoshop, but entering the intern, I was introduced to more such as InDesign and Illustrator.
Mrs. Atkins ordered me to use only Adobe because it was a great technical skill to have and most
businesses use it today.
Before using it on my own, she had me examining her tool with the program to get better knowledge
of it. One day after an event, we went to edit photos in Photoshop to post them on Facebook. During
editing, she explained when printing an image, you must save it in CMYK to make the image s colors
stay true. CMYK refers to the four inks used in some color printing: cyan, magenta, yellow, and key
(black). However, if you are posting it for social media purpose, it is best to save in RGB. The RGB
color model is an additive color model in which red, green and blue light are added together in various
ways to reproduce a broad array of colors.

The Landlady Analysis
The Landlady
Roald Dahl s realistic fiction story, The Landlady, takes place in Bath, London at a Bed Breakfast.
Billy Weaver, a seventeen year old boy, is exploring the streets of london trying to find a place to
spend the night. Billy is unaware of his surroundings and is not listening, while exploring the dark
streets of london. By using foreshadowing, and sensory details, Roald Dahl creates the lesson that
things are not always as they seem.
Billy is not conscientious, and so it is milipinating not only himself but his actions. One example of
this is, The old man explains to Billy that there is a Pub, The Bell and Dragon a quarter mile away.
Billy goes off looking for it, but comes across a Bed Breakfast that feels cozy, ... Show more content

The devious giveaway sentence, I m almost positive I ve heard those names before Somewhere.
Maybe it was in the Newspaper (3). The Landlady has only ever had two other guests sign the book in
the front living room. The names sound unmistakably familiar to Billy. As Billy is thinking about the
names the landlady very much so interrupts him and says, They were tall, young and handsome, my
dear, just exactly like you, these two quotes from Billy and the Landlady help the reader infer that if
two boys were in the newspaper and this lady says something unordinary creepy, than something
terrible could come from Billy (4). This is significant because it ties back into the theme that
everything is not what it seems. The Landlady seemed nice and caring, but it looks like things have
changed. His foreshadowing is not the only craft he uses to develop the idea. The sensory details in
the story also show how everything is not what it seems. The descriptive sentence, He went right up
and peered through the glass into the room, and the first thing he saw was a bright fire in the hearth

Compare And Contrast Mma And Boxing
A sport is a competitive game that emphasizes physical abilities. Boxing and MMA are two popular
sports. They are in the class of combat sports. Boxing is one of the oldest sports in the history of the
world. The Independent argues that the sport of boxing is one of the oldest sports still practiced to this
day. It is a sport where two opponents must face each other in the ring and fight till someone is
knocked out or until the round ends. The person with the most points which are obtained by punching
the opponent will win the match. MMA is a newer sport, a sport that has only been around for a
couple of decades. MMA is similar to boxing in a sense that two opponents fight each other. However,
there are many factors that make MMA significantly different from Boxing. ... Show more content on

There are many different variations and techniques of punching. Some of these punches are the jab,
the cross, the hook, and the uppercut. MMA stands for Mixed Martial Arts. As the name states, MMA
is many different martial arts and fighting styles mixed together. Some of those martial arts and
fighting styles are Muai Thai Kickboxing, Jiu Jitsu Grappling, and variations of wrestling and boxing.
Even though they are both combat sports, Boxing and MMA are significantly different. The
Independent states that MMA has certain aspects of boxing within the technique.
The rounds and timings are very different. Bleacherreport states that in Boxing, there are six to twelve
rounds and each one lasts three minutes. Bleacherreport also states that in MMA there are three
rounds, and they all last five minutes. Both sports are similar in a sense that there are timed rounds
instead of quarters such as in other sports, but that is the only similarity because the round s timings
are different. It is significant that the timings are different because the training of the athletes will be
built around how much time that they have.
Even though both sports are considerably different, there are some similarities

Atrahasis Account Of The Great Flood Essay
Atrahasis: Account of the Great Flood
The relationship between gods and humanity in Atrahisis: The Account of The Great Flood seems to
carry great irresponsibility. Most of the gods display the weak characteristics of humans. They whine
about work, constantly complain, selfishly create humans and then wish them dead. Enki and
Atrahasis, two of the main characters in the flood story (one god and one human), gain a mutual
respect that displays the proper relationship between humans and the divine. A relationship of
prayerful calling out to the gods, followed by a merciful response toward humankind, is the healthy
and correct picture this story shows us. A correct relationship between gods and humans carries the
possibility of eternal life ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the story, humans in Sumeria are flourishing, increasing their population, growing; and this creates
a bothersome preponderance of noise on earth. The gods become angry, due to the racket, claiming
that it keeps them awake all day and all night, providing no time to sleep. They prevail upon the god
of the earth, Ellil, who creates disease and sickness. / Let sickness: headache, suruppu, asakku, Blow

When the disease hit, the good man, Atrahasis, who had his ear open to his god Enki (PFP 8), used his
relationship with this god to spare his people. He was spoken to and guided to perform certain rituals
and sacrifices with his people, in order to be freed from the sickness. This was successful. 600 years,
or less than 600 passed (PFP 8) Again; The country was as noisy as a bellowing bull The God grew

A Russian Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev
Dying at only twenty years old doesn t leave much space for someone to do something remarkable,
but for Ivan Moiseyev, it did. Moiseyev was born in 1952, and raised in a Christian home by his two
parents, Vasily Timofeyevich and Ionna Konstantinova, along with his six brothers and sister. In 1968
Ivan finished school at a young age of sixteen and went on to join the Evangelical Christian Baptist
Church (Neerskov, H.K.). In 1970, after about a year and a half of joining the church, Moiseyev gave
his life to the Lord, and obtained a newfound love to preach the Gospel not only in church, but to the
young people of Volontirovka, his hometown. For quite some time, Ivan Moiseyev had the job of a
delivery driver. That is, until November 1970, when Moiseyev got drafted into the Soviet Army for
two years of training and service (Neerskov, H.K.). Since he became such a strong Christian,
Moiseyev was always trying to find a time and place to pray. Eventually, Moiseyev found a room that
stayed empty till ten A.M. Every day, Ivan woke up at five A.M. and went to that room to pray until
nine A.M. (A Russian Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev). On one particular morning, Ivan was
running late and had to hurry to the morning call; everyone had been waiting for him, and looking
everywhere for him in addition. Ivan had to explain his reason for missing to the commanding officer,
who already knew Moiseyev s position as a believer, and informed Ivan that he would have a

Royal Stuart Family Influence On Macbeth
William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth was heavily influenced through its setting, characters,
and subject matter by the Royal Stuart Family, which became the first dynasty to rule both Scotland
and England. Many of the names used in this play are actually referencing real members of the Stuart
family who ruled at one point and time. The name Macbeth is actually borrowed from a former king in
the Stuart Family named Macbeth, who took over the throne after coincidently killing his cousin, that
happened to be the King, and also happened to be named Duncan. Shakespeare may have taken the
names from history, but what transpired in the play between the characters of Macbeth and Duncan,
along with many others, is not historically correct. Kenneth the II killed the previous King, King ...

mass ejection, which was caused by the differential rotation of the sun, pointing at the direction of
Mars. The distorted magnetic field of the sun created a solar flare at the corona, and subsequently
released large amount of electromagnetic radiation and charged particles (EurekAlert 2010). The
energy released by a corona mass ejection could be as great as 1020 J (NASA, What is a Solar Flare?

Flat Tax Pros And Cons
A flat tax system in the United States by definition refers to taxing household incomes at the same rate
regardless of income levels. Advocates of a flat tax system argue that it will simplify U.S. tax codes
and eliminate other taxes. Opponents of a flat tax system argue that it only benefits wealthy
individuals and would eliminate the IRS causing wide spread unemployment. Here are some of the
pros and cons of a flat tax system.
Flat Tax Pros
Promote Economic Growth Many advocates of flat taxes argue it will promote economic growth and
spur job creation. One argument is that many working Americans would work harder to increase their
incomes without fear of entering higher tax brackets.

Keiurig Green Mountain Coffee Marketing Strategy
Coffee is a highly recognised aphrodisiac: the caffeine in the coffee endorses hormones that create
sexual drive. But, if you re looking to get laid tonight, don t choose Keurig Green Mountain coffee for

Keurig is a nationally renowned company. It was founded by some guy somewhere, that nobody really

Analysis Of A. Philip Randolph s Brotherhood Of Sleeping...
On the surface, A. Philip Randolph s Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters (BSCP) was fighting for
union recognition and changing the pay system from tip based to living wage based in 1926.
Underneath this, was a desire to separate blacks from the status of servant. The Pullman porters of the
era were perceived by the BSCP and Randolph as either slacker porters who relied on tips,
musicianship, and the paternalism of rich whites, or manly men who were willing to demand job
dignity, fair pay, and representation. The rhetoric of slacker porters and manly men was in response to
the vast racist misinterpretation that belittled specifically black itinerant musicians, but was geared
towards all black workers regardless of their given profession. This belittlement can be seen through
the ubiquitous caricatures maligning the work ethic, intelligence, and humanity... [that was] specific
to... musical entertainment . This imagery depicted black musicians as stock characters used by racist
whites to represent black laziness, immaturity, primitivism, and lack of manliness, but these
interpretations were only a part of a larger accumulation of racist misinterpretations that affected all
blacks. For Randolph, the similarities of mobility, tip taking, the need to endear oneself to customers
between porters who relied on tips for ends meet, some even going through the trouble of learning
musicianship in order to boost their tip income and black wanderlust musicians

Justice In A Few Good Men
When it comes down to laws, it is really your own choice to determine; what s the good way? Is it to
obey or disobey? What is correct, what is incorrect? Questions like these go through people s minds

Arthur Radley Evil
In To Kill a Mockingbird, the development of the character Arthur Radley is instrumental in

Because the children are intimidated by Arthur, they attempt to avoid him. However, as such, their

reason was TB testing on Muslims, they do not believe in using needles to take blood or for injections.
Soon after the take over of the cell block Warren Tate shut off the power and water in the cell block. A
Death Squad was formed in the beginning hours of the riot and black prisoners killed 5 white inmates.

A lot of what the public thinks about the riot is most likely false information. One reporter said that
172 inmate bodies were piled up inside the prison, when only 11 died.
The reporters did not help the negotiations at all. Inmates with battery powered TV s were able to see
sharpshooters position themselves on the roofs. Some negotiators believe the riot could have ended
hours after it had started when prisoners tried to negotiate using bullhorns but could not because of
helicopters hovering so low. The media wasn t always a bad thing though one reporter was able to
exchange a hostage to allow an inmate some air time.
When the riot started the guards went into small rooms called safe wells. The rooms were made out of
2 layers of block and had steel reinforced doors. The doors did their job but the prisoners started to
beat at the block walls with weight lifting bars. Soon they busted a hole into the room and dragged the
guards through the walls. The guards were assigned men to watch them; these men were ordered to
kill the guards if the prison came under attack. A few of the guards were protected very well because
they affiliated with the Aryan Brotherhood. These few lucky guards were even given weapons to
defend themselves incase of a race riot within the prison.

The Advantages of Virtual Oscilloscopes
1.INTRODUCTION
Electromagnetic oscillograph was used in early days for analyzing the signals followed by cathode ray
oscilloscopes. This was done for the need of higher bandwidth. Digital storage oscilloscopes are now
widely used because of their high input impedance which allows us to analyze both analog and digital
signals. DSOs are equipped with A/D and D/A converters which help in storing of data in digital form
and displaying it in analog form.
The major drawbacks of using a DSO are its cost and size. It is difficult to move them from place to
place for ease of work. It can be overcome by using a PC as an oscilloscope with software that acts as
the interface. Many works including development of PC based virtual oscilloscopes using MATLAB
has been done. The data acquisition device was fabricated using the analog to digital converters,
control logic timing circuitries and the GUI was built using MATLAB software.
Compared to traditional oscilloscopes, Virtual Oscilloscopes have a lot of advantages on the use and
function. The captured waveforms can be stored as data and used for future references. The accuracy
of measurement was also high along with waveform uniformity and stability. The option of multi
window display mode can be used to control a large number of job sites to monitor working
conditions at the same time.
To reduce the cost of the system, the data acquisition was done using built in sound card of the PC in
place of DAC. This work was done using LABVIEW as

Self Regulation In Middle School
Self regulation
Eisenberg (2010) defines effortful control as the efficiency of executive attention including the ability
to inhibit a dominant response and/or activate a subdominant response, to plan, and to detect errors .
Eisenberg argues that effortful control is indirectly related to academic success through motivation.
Eisenberg goes on to state that children with high effortful control are more likely to behave in
productive, pro social ways and they are more socially competent. This increased motivation is
hypothesized to lead to higher academic achievement. Metacognitive perspective enhances self
regulation of students thereby enabling them to have behavioral responses that aid in academic
performance. For example, when at home: parents engage their children in mathematics activities like
ordering numbered ice cubes from the refrigerator, and as such enhancing the self regulatory skills of
their children. With regards to this subject, the ability to work by themselves and stay on task without
direct teacher intervention or supervision has been proposed as essential to successfully transitioning
from elementary to middle school (Eisenber, 2010). Subsequently, middle ... Show more content on

This is because the tasks that students perform vary among disciplines and instructors hence the need
to clearly understand the task at hand. According to Eilers and Pinkley (2006), an effective strategy for
preparing for a multiple choice test in biology is different from what is needed to prepare for a history
test with an essay that entails synthesization of information from various sources. To answer such
question properly, students who metacognitize are able to think critically and know which words to
use and how to explain them. Metacognitive perspective enables students identify the various

Mary s Submissive Attitude Towards Her Husband
Tension can be an everyday occurrence in the lives of those who are married. This tension can occur
through multiple means and can be detrimental to a relationship. For example, tension in marriage can
come from money problems, infidelity, and unexpected circumstances. However, in some
relationships the tension is caused because of a partners personality being overbearing or selfish. This
paper will look at Mary from Steinbeck s The Winter of Our Discontent , and how her lofty and
submissive attitude causes tension in her marriage with Ethan. Mary s loftiness concerning money
causes marital tension because of her unwillingness to admit mistakes. In the book Mary and Ethan
have a conversation about money, and Mary reveals her lofty nature in ... Show more content on

In the scene where Ethan asks Mary for money to give to Danny, she tells Ethan that she is still not
interested in business, and then she willingly give Ethan a thousand dollars from her own money to
him to use (122). Mary in this scene is very submissive to the judgement of Ethan. However, we must
understand that this submissive attitude by Mary is because she doesn t care for her husband or his
moral health. We can understand this because Ethan first asks her if she doesn t care about the
business. This is important to not because Ethan is trying to suggest to Mary that the business he has
planned could be considered suspicious. However, Mary clearly explains that she doesn t want to
know, and that she is apathetic towards her husband s dealings. This is important because this
apathetic attitude towards business reveals marital tension in that she is indifferent towards her
husband s actions. Indifference in a marriage can lead to many problems in life. For example, if a wife
didn t care where her husband was going at night, and later found he was committing adultery, this
could lead to a big fight or a divorce. Furthermore, Mary s attitude of submissiveness towards her
money shows further her indifference towards her husband and his dealings. She willingly grants a
thousand dollars with no questions asked to him. A thousand dollars back then was a lot of money, and
she clearly doesn t care what her husband will do with the money. Furthermore, we understand that
this money was for Danny, so that he could use it to kill himself. This is a serious breach in moral
conduct, but Mary doesn t care at all. She is revealing that, whether or not, Ethan commits a immoral
act, she is more than willing to let him commit that act, and understanding from the previous
paragraph she even encourages his immoral

The Morality Of The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn
Say it, Jim: the morality of connection in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Laurel Bollinger College
Literature. 29.1 (Winter 2002): p32. From Literature Resource Center. Copyright: COPYRIGHT 2002
Johns Hopkins University Press http://www.press.jhu.edu Full Text: The American literary tradition
has often been defined by its moments of radical autonomy Thoreau at his pond, Ishmael offering his
apostrophe to landlessness, Huck light[ing] out for the Territory ahead of the rest (Twain 1995,265). In
fact, Twain s novel is often taught as the text that epitomizes this tradition, with Huck held up as its
exemplar: a boy courageous enough to stand against the moral conventions of his society, to risk Hell
itself rather than conform to the sivilizing process of communities he rejects. (1) Yet such a focus
belies an alternate strand in the tradition: moments of radical connection that call into question not just
the value but even the possibility of autonomy The passage from which my title is drawn illustrates
this point. At the very moment Jim s freedom seems most in crisis, when Tom s injury puts the escape
on hold while Huck goes for the doctor, the two characters speak as one through Jim s voice. Knowing
Jim will say what they both think, Huck asks Jim to say it: No, sah I doan budge a step out n dis place,
dout a doctor; not if it s forty year! (1995, 251).While the moment certainly contains troubling
elements, we must acknowledge the

How Yom Kippur Is The Most Important Feast Of The Jewish...
Yom Kippur is the most important feast in the Jewish calendar. The Jewish people celebrates this feat
on every consecutive year. I chose to speak about the feast of Yom Kippur because it was inspired to
me by one of the initiators of the Neocatechumenal Way (Carmen Hernandez). Hernandez had a deep
love of for the Jewish Liturgies especially the feast of Yom Kippur. Every single year the
Neocatechumenal Way in different countries has a retreat and in the retreat there is a special day
reserved for conversion(confession). On this day of conversion all the members of the
Neocatechumenal communities have to fast the whole day and feed themselves only with the word of
God(Bible reading) and at the end of the day they confess all their sins in a penitential celebration.
Hernandez always explained the relationship between Yom Kippur and the confession(penitential
celebration) for us Catholic, that is why I have a special love for this feast because I heard of it every
single year in the annual Neocatechumenal Way retreat. Another fact that pushed me to write about
Yom Kippur is that we are in the year of mercy. So my paper will be based on the history of the Feast
of Yom Kippur and Its origins and how it was prepared and celebrated among the Jewish. I will
describe how the feast is celebrated and I will show its values in the Jewish faith. I will show as well
how Jesus Christ celebrated the feast of Yom Kippur. Finally I will illustrated how Jesus fulfilled the
feast of Yom

Examples Of Disillusionment In The Great Gatsby
In The Great Gatsby, the characters become deluded about themselves and others through
relationships or wealth. Fitzgerald uses this disillusionment to trace their changes through their
interactions with one another and their journey to where they are at the end of the novel: Nick, whose
mind has been widened, Daisy, who returns to her carelessness and wealth, and Gatsby, a dead man,
but alright in the end . However, Nick already believed himself to be open minded and wise, Gatsby
never had the romantic success that would make him alright, and Daisy believed herself to be a victim
of Tom s and societies cruelties. Their journeys in the book boil down to one statement, that their self
conceptions are all flawed. Nick sees himself as a moderate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

On page 16, she tells Nick, I ve had a very bad time... and I m pretty cynical about everything,
However, she is still bubbly and romantic spirited, except when she is trying to gain sympathy.
Considering the way she calls Nick an absolute rose , her daughter a dream , but Tom a hulking brute
because he hurt her finger, she sounds like an emotional person who feels sorry for herself, but highly
plays up negativity when she wants others to feel sorry for her. Another instance of this is her little
chat with Nick, when she says, I think everything s terrible anyhow, (Fitzgerald, 17). These
melodramatic moments clearly show the victim she sees herself to be. However, after she kills Myrtle,
keeps driving, and lets Gatsby take the blame, even letting him die for it without coming to the funeral
or trying to make amends, Nick sums her up perfectly: Careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed
up things and creatures... and let other people clean up the mess they had made. (Fitzgerald, 191).
Daisy may see herself as a tragic heroine, but she hurts Tom, Gatsby, and others, and doesn t apologize

Marie Curie s Life And Accomplishments Marie Curie is an inspiration to many women because of her dedication to scientific discovery that resulted in her being the first woman to win a Nobel Prize. It was, and still is, difficult for women to establish themselves in the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field as related professions have historically been male dominated. However, Marie Curie s work with radiation and the Nobel Prizes in Physics and Chemistry that followed opened the door of possibilities for women wishing to pursue a career in science. I have heard Marie Curie s name all throughout my life, but I recently adopted her as an inspiration myself upon deciding to major in biochemistry next fall. However, her extreme intelligence, although it may have assisted her in carrying out her studies, was not something that could have foreshadowed her genius. There are plenty of people who graduate a year or two early who do not go on to discover new elements. Also, Curie decided to take a year off from her studies after high school to live in the country, and as she allowed herself to become more carefree and less responsible she also became lazy. She even wrote to her best friend from Warsaw to tell her that ...in spite of the diploma conferring on [her] the dignity and maturity of a person who has finished [her] studies, [she felt] stupid (Curie 40). Although this might not fit the normal route for someone of her intelligence to take regarding her studies, this is still a normal route that many high school students take today. This normality still did not indicate anything about her heroism that would come about soon, and nothing would indicate it in the years to follow as she stayed behind to support her family. • 3. Systematic Organization in Learning When you classify music in genres, terms such as Classical can be rather broad, and it can include both Classical time period (1750 1820) and pieces from the 19th to 21st century. For example, a piece written by J.S. Bach, can be classified as Classical, it is technically more suitably defined as being in the Baroque genre because it is different in terms of sound quality ,composition technique, instrumentation and arrangement. In conclusion, systematic organization of facts is not fruitful as arts are full of opinions and perspectives. It is difficult to systematize aspects of Arts that are based on personal Knowledge rather it is more subjectivity than propositional ways of knowing. Even if you can systematically organize things such as musical notes in music, the purpose of music is to communicate feelings and emotion, and this cannot be just done by reading the musical notes to play. The technique and intention of the performance included in it. Therefore system in Arts is not as necessary as it is in areas like Natural Science as Arts is not only based on facts which leads me to an argument such as whether or not it is always necessary for knowledge to be based on facts in order for that knowledge to be considered adequately justified. The second Areas of Knowledge I will be discussing is natural sciences. I take Biology so I chose to focus on Biology so that I can talk from my experience. System is often used in Natural Sciences in order to help organize a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The Use Of Dna Tests For Hair And Blood Samples Evidence to Convict Innocent People Scientific breakthroughs now allow the use of DNA tests for hair and blood samples that are about as reliable as fingerprint matching. While the evidence assists law enforcement, it allows defense attorneys to reopen cases to reevaluate solving crimes. Introduction When was the last time you have mistaken someone s identity? What did the last person in class have on today? Wrongful convictions may begin during the investigative process. Police misconduct or mistaken eyewitness testimony can ruin the rest of a person s life. The criminal justice system can be changed to prevent the latter by reforming the type of evidence allowed to be used when convicting a person. Most cases of wrongful conviction are either police initiated, which begin with the assumption that a specific person is guilty, or witness initiated, which contains an articulate eyewitness testimony. Police Initiated Police investigations often begin with tunnel vision. Tunnel vision occurs when the police focus on one suspect and do not go through a thorough investigation. The book Lord of the Flies by William Golding is about a group of british boys that get stranded on a island and they have to figure how a way to govern themselves. Jack s effective leadership throughout the novel led to great triumph. First I will talk about my first piece of evidence about how Jack is an effective leader. He d never have gotten us meat. He isn t a prefect and we don t know anything about him. He just gives orders and expects people to obey for nothing. One of the downsides of this method was that I could not record information as I was observing. Writing down what they were saying and what was going on would seem rude and would be hard to do. Artists and musicians can change a society and have an enormous impact on how a country runs itself. A good example of how a country can be influenced by new, innovative music would be the Tropicalismo movement. Caetano Veloso is a Brazilian musician that started the Tropicalia movement and created music that combined many elements of different music together, and Veloso did this with other tropicalists. The background of Caetano Veloso, the two songs Caetano Veloso produced, information about Tropicalia, and the background of Brazil can help us comprehend how music has a great impact and influence on society. Tropicalia is more than just a music genre produced in the late 1960s, but a social political movement that radically changed the way Brazilians saw contemporary Brazilian music. However, for the ocean, climate change can be a deadly change. Though, it does not seem a likely cause, changes in currents, tides and winds can disperse the borders of dead zones. Through adoption, a new family is created and rather than looking at it as one event which many people mistakenly do it is a lifelong process that has an effect on every aspect of all parties involved. Most of the adoptions carried out at this time were from orphanages and orphan trains. It was not until the early twentieth century where the emphasis was on the best interest of the child . In 1968 Ivan finished school at a young age of sixteen and went on to join the Evangelical Christian Baptist Church (Neerskov, H.K.). In 1970, after about a year and a half of joining the church, Moiseyev gave his life to the Lord, and obtained a newfound love to preach the Gospel not only in church, but to the young people of Volontirovka, his hometown. For quite some time, Ivan Moiseyev had the job of a delivery driver. That is, until November 1970, when Moiseyev got drafted into the Soviet Army for two years of training and service (Neerskov, H.K.). Since he became such a strong Christian, Moiseyev was always trying to find a time and place to pray. Eventually, Moiseyev found a room that stayed empty till ten A.M. Every day, Ivan woke up at five A.M. and went to that room to pray until nine A.M. (A Russian Martyr, Ivan Vasilyevich Moiseyev). On one particular morning, Ivan was running late and had to hurry to the morning call; everyone had been waiting for him, and looking everywhere for him in addition. Ivan had to explain his reason for missing to the commanding officer, who already knew Moiseyev s position as a believer, and informed Ivan that he would have a punishment (A Russian ... • 29. Royal Stuart Family Influence On Macbeth William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Macbeth was heavily influenced through its setting, characters, and subject matter by the Royal Stuart Family, which became the first dynasty to rule both Scotland and England. Many of the names used in this play are actually referencing real members of the Stuart family who ruled at one point and time. The name Macbeth is actually borrowed from a former king in the Stuart Family named Macbeth, who took over the throne after coincidently killing his cousin, that happened to be the King, and also happened to be named Duncan. Mars Solar Exchange Just six days before Valentina s scheduled landing, the Earth Space Center observed a strong corona mass ejection, which was caused by the differential rotation of the sun, pointing at the direction of Mars. The energy released by a corona mass ejection could be as great as 1020 J (NASA, What is a Solar Flare? n.d.). Philip Randolph s Brotherhood of Sleeping Car Porters (BSCP) was fighting for union recognition and changing the pay system from tip based to living wage based in 1926. Underneath this, was a desire to separate blacks from the status of servant. The Pullman porters of the era were perceived by the BSCP and Randolph as either slacker porters who relied on tips, musicianship, and the paternalism of rich whites, or manly men who were willing to demand job dignity, fair pay, and representation. The rhetoric of slacker porters and manly men was in response to the vast racist misinterpretation that belittled specifically black itinerant musicians, but was geared towards all black workers regardless of their given profession. This was done for the need of higher bandwidth. Digital storage oscilloscopes are now widely used because of their high input impedance which allows us to analyze both analog and digital signals. DSOs are equipped with A/D and D/A converters which help in storing of data in digital form and displaying it in analog form. The major drawbacks of using a DSO are its cost and size. It is difficult to move them from place to place for ease of work. It can be overcome by using a PC as an oscilloscope with software that acts as the interface. Many works including development of PC based virtual oscilloscopes using MATLAB has been done. The data acquisition device was fabricated using the analog to digital converters, control logic timing circuitries and the GUI was built using MATLAB software. Compared to traditional oscilloscopes, Virtual Oscilloscopes have a lot of advantages on the use and function. The captured waveforms can be stored as data and used for future references. This increased motivation is hypothesized to lead to higher academic achievement. Metacognitive perspective enhances self regulation of students thereby enabling them to have behavioral responses that aid in academic performance. Mary in this scene is very submissive to the judgement of Ethan. However, we must understand that this submissive attitude by Mary is because she doesn t care for her husband or his moral health. We can understand this because Ethan first asks her if she doesn t care about the business. This is important to not because Ethan is trying to suggest to Mary that the business he has planned could be considered suspicious. However, Mary clearly explains that she doesn t want to know, and that she is apathetic towards her husband s dealings. This is important because this apathetic attitude towards business reveals marital tension in that she is indifferent towards her husband s actions. Indifference in a marriage can lead to many problems in life. For example, if a wife didn t care where her husband was going at night, and later found he was committing adultery, this could lead to a big fight or a divorce. Furthermore, Mary s attitude of submissiveness towards her money shows further her indifference towards her husband and his dealings. She willingly grants a thousand dollars with no questions asked to him. A thousand dollars back then was a lot of money, and she clearly doesn t care what her husband will do with the money. Furthermore, we understand that this money was for Danny, so that he could use it to kill himself. This is a serious breach in moral conduct, but Mary doesn t care at all. She is revealing that, whether or not, Ethan commits a immoral act, she is more than willing to let him commit that act, and understanding from the previous paragraph she even encourages his immoral ... • 49. The Morality Of The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Say it, Jim: the morality of connection in Adventures of Huckleberry Finn Laurel Bollinger College Literature. 29.1 (Winter 2002): p32. From Literature Resource Center. Copyright: COPYRIGHT 2002 Johns Hopkins University Press http://www.press.jhu.edu Full Text: The American literary tradition has often been defined by its moments of radical autonomy Thoreau at his pond, Ishmael offering his apostrophe to landlessness, Huck light[ing] out for the Territory ahead of the rest (Twain 1995,265). In fact, Twain s novel is often taught as the text that epitomizes this tradition, with Huck held up as its exemplar: a boy courageous enough to stand against the moral conventions of his society, to risk Hell itself rather than conform to the sivilizing process of communities he rejects. (1) Yet such a focus belies an alternate strand in the tradition: moments of radical connection that call into question not just the value but even the possibility of autonomy The passage from which my title is drawn illustrates this point. At the very moment Jim s freedom seems most in crisis, when Tom s injury puts the escape on hold while Huck goes for the doctor, the two characters speak as one through Jim s voice. Knowing Jim will say what they both think, Huck asks Jim to say it: No, sah I doan budge a step out n dis place, dout a doctor; not if it s forty year! (1995, 251).While the moment certainly contains troubling elements, we must acknowledge the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. How Yom Kippur Is The Most Important Feast Of The Jewish... Yom Kippur is the most important feast in the Jewish calendar. The Jewish people celebrates this feat on every consecutive year. I chose to speak about the feast of Yom Kippur because it was inspired to me by one of the initiators of the Neocatechumenal Way (Carmen Hernandez). Hernandez had a deep love of for the Jewish Liturgies especially the feast of Yom Kippur. Every single year the Neocatechumenal Way in different countries has a retreat and in the retreat there is a special day reserved for conversion(confession). On this day of conversion all the members of the Neocatechumenal communities have to fast the whole day and feed themselves only with the word of God(Bible reading) and at the end of the day they confess all their sins in a penitential celebration. Hernandez always explained the relationship between Yom Kippur and the confession(penitential celebration) for us Catholic, that is why I have a special love for this feast because I heard of it every single year in the annual Neocatechumenal Way retreat. Another fact that pushed me to write about Yom Kippur is that we are in the year of mercy. So my paper will be based on the history of the Feast of Yom Kippur and Its origins and how it was prepared and celebrated among the Jewish. I will describe how the feast is celebrated and I will show its values in the Jewish faith. I will show as well how Jesus Christ celebrated the feast of Yom Kippur. Finally I will illustrated how Jesus fulfilled the feast of Yom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Examples Of Disillusionment In The Great Gatsby In The Great Gatsby, the characters become deluded about themselves and others through relationships or wealth. Fitzgerald uses this disillusionment to trace their changes through their interactions with one another and their journey to where they are at the end of the novel: Nick, whose mind has been widened, Daisy, who returns to her carelessness and wealth, and Gatsby, a dead man, but alright in the end . However, Nick already believed himself to be open minded and wise, Gatsby never had the romantic success that would make him alright, and Daisy believed herself to be a victim of Tom s and societies cruelties. Their journeys in the book boil down to one statement, that their self conceptions are all flawed. Nick sees himself as a moderate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... On page 16, she tells Nick, I ve had a very bad time... and I m pretty cynical about everything, However, she is still bubbly and romantic spirited, except when she is trying to gain sympathy. Considering the way she calls Nick an absolute rose , her daughter a dream , but Tom a hulking brute because he hurt her finger, she sounds like an emotional person who feels sorry for herself, but highly plays up negativity when she wants others to feel sorry for her. Another instance of this is her little chat with Nick, when she says, I think everything s terrible anyhow, (Fitzgerald, 17). These melodramatic moments clearly show the victim she sees herself to be. However, after she kills Myrtle, keeps driving, and lets Gatsby take the blame, even letting him die for it without coming to the funeral or trying to make amends, Nick sums her up perfectly: Careless people, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures... and let other people clean up the mess they had made. (Fitzgerald, 191). Daisy may see herself as a tragic heroine, but she hurts Tom, Gatsby, and others, and doesn t apologize or express ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
