To Kill A Mockingbird Analytical Essay
Writing an analytical essay on the topic "To Kill A Mockingbird" can be both challenging and
rewarding. On one hand, Harper Lee's classic novel provides rich material for analysis, with its
complex characters, layered themes, and thought-provoking social commentary. On the other
hand, the depth of the narrative and the multitude of issues explored in the book require careful
consideration and a nuanced approach.
Crafting an analytical essay demands a thorough understanding of the novel, as well as the
ability to dissect its various elements. Analyzing characters like Atticus Finch, Scout, and Boo
Radley requires delving into their motivations, relationships, and the impact they have on the
overall narrative. Additionally, exploring the novel's themes of racial injustice, moral growth, and
societal norms demands a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful interpretation of the text.
Moreover, expressing one's thoughts coherently and persuasively is crucial in essay writing. The
challenge lies not only in presenting a clear thesis statement and supporting arguments but also in
weaving them together seamlessly to form a compelling narrative. Balancing textual evidence
with personal insights, and connecting individual points to the overarching themes of the novel,
can be a delicate task.
However, despite its challenges, writing an analytical essay on "To Kill A Mockingbird" can be a
gratifying experience. Unraveling the layers of the narrative, exploring the intricacies of the
characters, and delving into the novel's societal critiques can deepen one's understanding of
literature and foster critical thinking skills.
In conclusion, tackling an analytical essay on "To Kill A Mockingbird" requires a combination of
literary analysis skills, critical thinking, and effective writing. It is an endeavor that demands
time, dedication, and a genuine appreciation for the complexities embedded in Harper Lee's
masterpiece.

Kit Fox Research Paper
Kit foxes, also called Vulpes Macrotis are among the smallest foxes in America.
The kit fox is very easily mistaken for a dog however when you look at their
appearance you realize that proportions are not that of a dog s. Many people often
confuse the kit fox with its larger cousin, the grey desert fox. Kit foxes have
exceptionally large and closely set ears. Their ears help spread the body heat in the
desert like environments. Kit foxes typically have a slender and small body with
long legs and a very puffy tail. Their tails stick straight out behind them, and it
tipped in black. Kit foxes coats change with the seasons going from a rusty tan to
grey in the summer, to a silvery grey color with a white belly in the winter. The kit

Sex Sexuality in the Poetry of Walt Whitman
I have not gain d acceptance of my own time, but have fallen back on fond dreams of
the future

SEX AND SEXUALITY IN THE POETRY OF WALT WHITMAN
Perhaps, in the following essay I put a quart into a pint pot, because I intend to
puzzle out, or rather, find and give a deeper insight into Walt Whitmans sexuality that
is still a question on agenda. There are readers and critics who state that it is a shame
to humble his poetry to this level, but I think that he was homosexual in his era the
topic cannot be left untouched, because therefore this factor was very influential on
his everyday life, thinking and hence on his poetry, too.
His only volume, Leaves of Grass В– that was ... Show more content on

So the concepts of men and women are not exclusive but inclusive ones.
As I pointed it before, in the first edition of Leaves of Grass the themes of sex and
sexuality appeared namely in the poems Song of Myself , The Sleepers , and I
Sing the Body Electric . In 1856, two more poems were added; Poem of
Procreation (now A Woman Waits for Me ) and Bunch Poem ( Spontaneous Me ). In
the 1860 edition, he collected those poems that are concerned with sexuality into the
cluster Enfans d Adam ( Children of Adam ) and those that celebrate adhesiveness
into Calamus . In particular the Calamus poems, written after a failed and very likely
homosexual relationship, contain passages that were interpreted to represent the born
of a gay man. The name of the poems alone would have sufficed to convey
homosexual connotations, since the calamus plant is associated with Kalamos, a god
in antique mythology, who was transformed with grief by the death of his lover, the
male youth Karpos. In addition, the calamus plant s central characteristic is a
prominent central vein that is phallic in appearance.
Now I intend to turn my attention to concrete examples from Walt Whitman s
poetry to provide some evidence of that sexuality played an important role in his
poetry, and there are possible readings to find traces for that. Of course, we cannot
only rely on selected
FIFA 18 Essay
Last year, FIFA 17 was the best selling game on the PS4 with over a whopping 10
million units sold worldwide. Not only did it perform exceptionally well on the
PlayStation, on all platforms, it came second to Pokemon Sun/Moon on the 3DS.
Unquestionably, EA s FIFA series is huge.
It s fair to say, certainly by now at least, EA Sportsknow that they re going to top the
sales charts each year. While it s possible this may cause complacency, EA never
seem to rest on their laurels. Although last year saw significant refinements from
FIFA 16 to 17, there certainly isn t as many wholesale changes in FIFA 18.
However, subtle improvements to the gameplay, as well as new features in the
Career Mode means FIFA 18 is EA s most complete FIFA to date.... Show more

Pleasingly, although not perfectly, FIFA 18 stays true to the style of play certain
teams are known for. Though one can argue that this was true of FIFA 17 and to a
degree, previous installments, the 2017/2018 season is still in its infancy and where
Liverpool play a similar way to last season, Man City s attacking style is slighly
different with FIFA 18 mimicking it rather well.
The care for attention to detail is also true to that of individulal players. While it
would be impossible to uniquely program thousands of players individually, the
bigger name, as well as some lesser known players, all have their own style of play.
Of course, Ronaldo and Messi play like their real life counterparts but it s refreshing
to see a player like Matt Ritchie behave in a similar fashon to real life.
While tactical set ups and individual players are sound, as far as AI behaviour goes
when adapting during a match, I haven t noticed too many differences between FIFA
s 17 and 18. However, one noticible difference involves how teams react when falling
a goal or two behind.
One gripe I ve always had of FIFA games is how the AI reacts to going a goal or
two down early on. Teams tend to go kamikaze and pile men forward prematurity
leaving gaps in defence. This behaviour is common at the latter stages of a real
match but not so much early on. With FIFA 18, teams do seem less partial to keep
throwing men forward nonsensically when falling behind, now only doing so when

The Four Layers Of The Respiratory System
The respiratory system is made up of two different parts, the upper respiratory tract
which includes the nose, mouth and the beginning on the trachea. This is the part that
is in charge of taking in the air and letting it back out again, and then the lower
respiratory tract which is made up of the trachea and the lungs.
There are four different layers that make up the trachea, these include the mucosa
which is the in most layer. This consists of ciliated pseudostratified columnar
epithelium tissue which contains goblet cells that secrete a tacky mucus that lines the
walls of the inner trachea so that it catches any debris breathed in via the air before it
hits the lungs.
Ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelial cells are a rectangular

Types of spatial metadata
Spatial information is necessary to make sound decisions at the local, regional and
global levels. Therefore, the amount of spatial datasets being created and
exchanged between organisations or people is increasing considerably. According
to a released study by for the period of 2004 2010, the overall growth of geospatial
industry has increased by 11% in the areas of data, software and services. The spatial
metadata in terms of collection can be divided into two groups:
Inherent Metadata information that can be derived through the computer analysis of
the contents of any collection, such as: temporal coverage (e.g. visualisation of the
time periods covered or publication dates); types of items and the number of each;
formats of items and the number of each; example of full metadata content; geospatial
and image collections; number of thumbnail/browse images available; types of
geospatial footprints (e.g. points, bounding boxes); geographic coverage of the
information (map visualisation based on latitude and longitude coordinates of items
in the collection)
Contextual Metadata information supplied by the collection provider or collection
maintainer that cannot otherwise be derived from the collection s contents, such as:

Genetic Markers Don t Always Match Physical Appearance
Genetic markers don t always match physical appearance. First of all, a genetic
marker is a gene or short sequence of DNA. Since the beginning of time our
genetics have been changing constantly due to a lot of different aspects. Some
causes of change include aging. As we get older our bodies chemicals change, we
produce more and less of certain chemicals, for example; insulin. The changing of
chemicals affect our body not just on the outside, but on the inside. It affects the
way our genetic markers respond and can alter them. Some diseases are caused by a
genetic mutation, or permanent change in one or more specific genes which can be
caused by aging. Aging can lead to our bodies getting diseases like Alzheimer s or
Parkinson s. (Lewis)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most epigenetic changes that occur in sperm and egg cells get erased when the two
combine to form a fertilized egg in a process called reprogramming. This
reprogramming allows the cells of the fetus to start from scratch and make their own
epigenetic changes. However, scientists think that some of the epigenetic changes in
parents sperm and egg cells may avoid the reprogramming process and make it
through to the next generation. If this is true, things like the food a person eats
before they conceive could affect their future child. Scientists now think epigenetics
can play a role in the development of some cancers. For instance, an epigenetic
change that silences a tumor suppressor gene, such as a gene that keeps the growth of
the cell in check, could lead to uncontrolled cellular growth. Another example might
be an epigenetic change that turns off genes that help repair damaged DNA, leading to
an increase in DNA damage, which in turn, increases cancer risk. (US, National
Institutes of Health)
Another reason our genetic markers change over time is because we get diseases,
also called a genetic disorder. A genetic disorder is a disease that is caused by a
change or mutation in an individual s DNA sequence.
These mutations can be due to an error in DNA replication or due to environmental
factors, such as cigarette smoke and exposure to radiation, which cause changes in the
DNA sequence. These changes can affect
Remember The Titans Diversity
Remember the Titans is a film based on the true story of Virginia High School
football team working to come together during desegregation in the 1970s. Herman
Boone, a black head coach, is hired to lead the T.C Williams High School Football
Team. The team formerly led by a white coach, Bill Yoast, is better known by their
nickname, The Titans. Both Boone and Yoast must work together to bring their
white and black players together in a time where segregation across racial lines in
the south was commonly accepted. Boone and Yoast are successful in doing this
during the team s training camp, only to return to find that bringing the team
together would be only one of the challenges they faced. We see both coaches work
together and lead the team to an undefeated season that helped unite the town and
overcome its own racial strife. One of the movies overarching themes is team
building through adversity and using diversity to strengthen a team. We see this
team building done by many characters, most notably Yoast and Boone the two
coaches. They are helped in this by the players themselves as well. A white player
named Gerry Bertier and a black player name Julius Campbell. Both players are
initially determined to side along racial lines during their team building experience
at camp. Yoast and Boone help set the example for the players as Yoast swallow his
pride and accepts a lesser position on the coaching staff than what he previously held.
The example set by Yoast helps
Stereotypes Of Advertisement Analysis
Just like stereotypes, advertisements can convince us to believe something that
most likely is not true. Advertisements uses different techniques ranging from
memories of your childhood and going somewhere different. Memories are used to
appeal to your memories of your fun childhood. Escape as in going somewhere you
have always wanted to go and you long for the feeling of being free (McLead).
Other things included Belonging this one uses stereotypes the most, but basically it
is making you want to be part of something greater. Status as in success or money.

This consist of race and gender. In advertising. Men are considered shallow and very
flirty. They make it seem like whatever they do men must be doing it to impress
girls. These actions consist of pranks and other foolish aspects of a person s
possible mentality. Their decisions also involve incompetence and the feeling that
women are dominant. Another gender stereotype is that women are suppose to be
domesticated and not like the animal. Women do all the housework and take care
of everything for the men that they are not to do. For racial stereotypes it could be
anything from skin tone to accents. It acts like some races are inferior to others.
The reasoning for this is that stereotypes appeal to their target markets. This adds
humour to the commercials (Joseph) Race and gender stereotypes are the most
popular, but children are also brought into this. For children it is all about the
colors. Blue is for boys only and pink is for girls. This is geared towards children

sickness and health. , however Every husband and wife relationship is different.
They differ in contribution and leadership. In the stories A Story of an Hour by Kate

In the beginning A Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin we learned her husband

The Effects Of Environmental Degradation On The
Environment
The human relationship to the environment has evolved over time as humans have
made technological advancements and cultural changes. While some may argue that
humanity is distant from nature, that could not be further from the truth. While the
human relationship to nature is not the same as it may have been in the past, humans
still rely on nature for their livelihood. Humans also have a strong impact on nature,
and processes which occur in nature, through their actions.
In the last decade, the issue of environmental degradation has become a topic of
global concern and discussion. This discussion is threading together a narrative that
helps the public and scholars better understand the human relationship to the
environment. While this push forward in environmental agenda is a good thing,
there needs to be an ongoing dialogue which allows for the understanding that
environmental degradation is not only a risk to a certain biome, but all of the
diversity that exists within a certain region a good example of this being Papua New
Guinea.
The rainforest of Papua New Guinea are incredibly rich and diverse environments; the
rainforest not only houses a wide variety of plant and animal species, but is also home
many indigenous groups. By examining the changes in Papua New Guinea s
rainforest throughout time, a better understanding of the complex and dynamic
human relationship to nature will be achieved.
Declaration Of Independence And The Way To Wealth
Analysis
Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin both show an unfamiliar patriotism for a
country not yet formed in their works The Declaration of Independence and The Way
to Wealth respectively. Their ideology was manifested in their written works and
carried on through their actions. Jefferson lived a life as a wealthy farmer and
understood that government control was not a necessity, especially when it ventured
to tyranny. Benjamin Franklin embodied the Puritan ideology when urging others to
be industrious and frugal. Both of these ideals are examples of American ideology,
and Thomas Jeffersonand Benjamin Franklin express these in their works. As stated

Poor Richard forms the American ideology to be a hard working and economical
through all of his words of wisdom. There are no gains without pains (Way to
Wealth 237), which expresses the hard work mentality that was placed into the
American ideology because Americans were considered to be of lower class than the
people of Europe. Assuming that the Americans were lesser than them, the Europeans
did not pay much attention to the work ethic of the new nation, much less the nation
as a whole. So Benjamin Franklin wrote an Almanac, giving him a way to share his
knowledge with those in America. He created a society that would believe that
industry pays debts, while despair increaseth them (Way to Wealth 237) making
America relevant to the world, giving the country a place because it looked past their
present situation and more toward how to improve their livelihood. Benjamin
Franklin, an avid supporter of a hardworking and frugal society, sought to inform us
with his adages and make America into a better nation. Benjamin Franklin helped
form the American ideology of Industriousness and
Biblical Allusions In Heart Of Darkness
There are two ways of spreading light: to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it
(Wharton). This quote by Edith Wharton presents how to spread light in the darkest
of darkness just as the Congo was back in the 1888 when King Leopold brought the
horror to the natives of the Congo. In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darknessshows how
man can be a light even in the darkest of darkness even though it may look
impossible. Marlow, the narrator of the novel, tells of his story about he tries to be a
light in the darkness, referring to the Congo. The theme of people being a light in
darkness is displayed in Heart Of Darkness through the literary elements of
symbolism, characterization, and Biblical allusions.
Throughout the brilliant novel, Conrad ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this in mind, Conrad shows biblical allusions by describing the people of the
inner station as a whited sepulcher (Conrad 12). Even though a whited sepulcher is
a negative term, from the view of the white men at the Congo, they are being a
light by civilizing the natives through pain. A whited sepulcher is outwardly
appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people s bones and all uncleanness
(Matthew 23:27). The outward appearance of the people who ran the Congo were
viewed doing good from people outside of the Congo which is the way how people
saw it as being a light in the lives of those who were walking in the dark. Not to
mention, faith brings light in darkness just as Jesus brought light into the world,
which the world was dark. Throughout the novel, it shows the symbolism of how
light is affected by darkness, which drives out darkness. For example, when
Marlow s aunt claims that her nephew is going to bring the faith , or in other
words, civilize which in Marlow s view is to educate the natives as he was suppose
to do (Conrad 10). In all, through biblical allusions, Conrad displays the theme of
people being a light in the darkness from the views of the white people at the
Why Plagiarism Is Wrong
What is plagiarism? We are told in our early school days that plagiarism is wrong
and should be prevented. We learn that it is a form of cheating and that there are
consequences. Consequences can result in failure of the class and being expelled
from the college. In Webster s Dictionary plagiarism is defined as, the act of using
another person s words or ideas without giving credit . This means anything that is
created by another person must be citied and given credit to the original author.
Without giving acknowledgment you are committing the act of plagiarism. If
plagiarism has consequences that go as far as being expelled from school, why is it
so popular? And why is it increasing? The biggest reason is that students feel
overwhelmed and the pressure becomes too... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The survey stated that high school students that come into college with a strong
set of organization and planning skills are much likely less to plagiarize and cheat.
The survey was in an article written by Scott Abramowitz. In the United States,
40% of undergraduates admitted to plagiarizing (Redfern and Barnwell, 2009).
While, 56% of postgraduate students reported plagiarizing their own material
(Owunwanne, Rustagi Dada, 2010). Why is plagiarism unethical? Imagine a
world where everything that is created or thought of can be stolen from you and
you do not receive any credit for your creations. This could cause people to stop
being motivated and slowly rot the world from lack of innovation and
improvement. Plagiarism severely disrupts academic activities and takes from
academic prestige. Trying to get ahead by stealing someone else s work is wrong
and should be prevented. Stealing is unethical because stealing is a crime. There s
also the implication that you didn t study for your degree. That would be

John Stuart Mill on Classical Liberalism and Modern...
John Stuart Mill was a classical liberal thinker and believed, through the influence of
his father, that man deserved to live a life that promoted the greatest amount of
happiness with limited government intervention. Mill grew up with the belief that
there was no God and therefore believed that man is born inherently good;
government should be limited to allow individuals to make their own decisions from
their inherently good instincts; economic freedom provided individuals with the
protection of rights and promoted the ideology that Mill stood for most, Utilitarianism
which highly influenced classical liberalism.
The philosophy of John Stuart Mill has influenced mankind and classical liberalism

He presumed that people had enough knowledge and discernment to make moral
choices that they could live with. The individual and their personal reflection of
right or wrong decided their moral standards. Mill also noted that people had a
desire to be accepted by society and they have a fear of being disapproved. Mill
believed government should intervene only when one individual may hurt another.
People have the freedom to hold and express their own opinions, which would deny
the government the ability to choose a majority over a minority. In this government
their authority would be limited in its ability to intervene unless an individual was
harming another.
To think that because those who wield power in society wield in the end that of
government, therefore it is of no use to attempt to influence the constitution of the
government by acting on opinion, is to forget that opinion is itself one of the
greatest active social forces. One person with a belief is a social power equal to
ninety nine who have only interests.
Mill s belief promotes that each individual s opinion is important and therefore
should be listened to by the government. The government would not be able to turn a
blind eye to a minority; this is one of many influences on classical liberalism. In
classical liberalism the government has limited say in the economy and ensures that
everyone has the right to his or her freedom of opinion. An

skills that I acquired in the last few years in relation to the ones needed in the
industry. In addition, I will also look at my weaknesses and what I can do to
overcome them. Since I started my studies and up to this date, I have learned a lot
about what is required to work in the Aviation industry. There is a wide range of
skills required, although most of them apply to roles one can take on in the
specific industry. In other words, some skills are more role specific. Reflecting on
my skills, I believe I have excellent social, communication and language skills.
These skills are essential in any customer facing or team work oriented job. As
explained by Morgeson, F. P. et al. in Selecting individuals in team settings: The
importance of social skills, personality characteristics, and teamwork knowledge.
(2005): Social skills are particularly important in team settings because working in
teams increases the interdependence among workers, typically producing greater

Consequences Of Runaways
Numerous teens run away, which then leads to them living on the streets or going
into a foster care system. Most runaways have reported that they ran away because of
problems in their home. Runaways end up either on the street or in the foster care
system. There are a lot of consequences of living on the street including human
trafficking, assault, mental health problems, and lack of education. Foster care can
help for a while, but isn t a permanent solution. These teens runaway without knowing
the consequences that will come from living on the streets.
One in seven young people between the ages of 10 and 18 will run away each
year, many because of problems in the home. In fact, 46% of homeless youth
escaped a home where they suffered physical abuse, 38% because of emotional
abuse, and 17% left because of sexual abuse. Some teens run away from home
because they have gotten involved in drug abuse and they do not want anyone to
figure out. However, running away from home isn t a good solution.
The streets are not safe places for teens to live. According to safehorizon.org, Every
year approximately 5,000 homeless youth will die because of assault, illness, or
suicide while trying to survive. People on the streets can be very violent. Nearly
43% of homeless young men and 39% of homeless young women say they were

Many runaway youth already had some sort of mental problem due to problems at

Homeless youth are approximately 75% more likely to abuse substances to deal
with their trauma. Also, 17% of homeless youth are HIV positive, which may be a
result of lack of proper hygiene or the prostitution that some teens are forced
Psalm 23 Sermon On The Mount
In the bible, people read it often and most of them like to share scriptures that they
think is very important to them because it gets stuck deep down in people s minds.
When it gets stuck, that is when people come out of their comfort zone to reach out
to others and read the portions. Psalms 23 and The Sermon on the Mount are one of
these scriptures that get stuck deep down in people s minds. These two found in the
Bible, are known for the Shepard of the people, relating to the Lord. Psalm 23
immensely relates to the guidance of the Sermon on the Mount, which is engaged in
different stories in the Bible such as Mathew and Mark. In Psalm 23 ( Of David), is
found in the old testament of the Bible. It is invoked to help turn around negative

She Walks In Beauty Poetic Devices
Throughout time, love has proven to be one of the strongest motivators of
mankind. It has served as the motivation for both war and peace. One of the
greatest contributions love has made to mankind is that of art. Poetry and music
are methods of art that people use to express love. These methods are effective
because of the poetic devices they use to describe love. In both the love poem She
Walks in Beauty by Lord Byron and the love song Just the Way You Are by Khari
Cain, Philip Lawrence, Ari Levine, Bruno Mars, and Khalil Walton poetic devices
are used to describe love for a woman. While Cain, Lawrence, Levine. Mars, and
Walton in Just the Way You Are use hyperbole and repetition to express love in
their song, Lord Byron in She Walks in Beauty more effectively uses simile and
juxtaposition express love in his poem. The song Just the Way You Are is about a
man telling a woman how beautiful she is and how much he loves her for who she
is, although she does not believe him. The writers use repetition to present love for a
woman. They choose to repeat specific features of the woman that makes her... Show

The basis of the song is to emphasize the love that the speaker has for the woman he
is speaking about. Hyperboles are an over exaggeration used to emphasize a
comparison in literature. The speaker says that when the woman smiles the whole
world stops and stares for a while (17). This a clear over exaggeration, as there is no
possible way the whole world would know that she is smiling and it is highly
unlikely that everyone would stop and stare at her. The speaker says this to
express his love for her. When he says that the whole world stops and stares for a
while (17), he actually means his own personal world that revolves around his love
stops and stares for a while (17). The speaker uses a hyperbole to describe the
importance that his love s smile has in his life
The Dark Ages Of Europe
The Dark Ages of Europe is one of the most known horrible times recorded in
human history. When Rome finally crumbled it was a devastating time, it lead to
the worst time period that Europe has ever seen; full of disease and poverty. It
started in 410 A.D and ended in 1200 A.D. During this time people would rather die
a horrible death than to actually live through this time. Terrifying Vikings tore
through the continent along with cruel Knights. Barbarians ravaged through what
was first the amazing Rome and shoved it on its knees. People lived in huts and
worst of all, the worst enemy of them all was the pandemic The Black Death. We ll
tour you through what s it was like during ..... The Dark Ages.
At the beginning of this time period, before the decline, Rome was the mother of
the world. It is the largest recorded empire ever known and was one of the wonders
of the world. It was the center of trade and was the protector of Europe. The fall of
this miraculous empire was the very beginning of the dark ages. Without Rome s
protection, that meant that western Europe was defenseless against others. Eastern
Europe still had rulers Justinian and Theodora, but they weren t much help to the
beginning of the fall of Europe. Without Rome s trade, they didn t have any money
or supplies. The fall of Rome s main center lead to the beginning of the Dark Ages.
During the Dark Ages, the people of Europe became more savage and greedy then
they were before, with stealing, killing, and whole
Immigration To America After 1924
Immigration The United States has the most open immigration policy in the world
according to the Center for Immigration Studies. Immigration is regulated by the
federal government since 1875, and the immigration service was established in 1891
to handle the increase in immigration into the United States. The amount of people
immigrating to the United Statescontinued to increase, so Congress introduced a new
immigrationpolicy called the National Origins Quota system which was passed in
1921 and revised in 1924. This new law limited the amount of people immigration
into the United States by giving each nationality a quota based on its representation
in the U.S census, and in 1924 the Border Patrol was created as a part of the
Immigration service. Over the next 40 years after 1924 there was little immigration,
during the Great Depression net immigration actually dropped below zero. After
World War II immigration continued to remain low because of the National Origins
Quota system, and in 1952 the National Origins Quota system and all of the other
immigration and naturalization laws were combined into the Immigration and
Nationality Act. The national origins system was replaced by Preference system in
1965 which was created to unite immigrant families and attract skilled immigrants to
America; now people who are immigrating to America mostly come from Asia and
Latin America, the new preference system created in 1965 also limited the visas that

A Speech On The Crime Against Kansas
Even on the highest level, the tension and angry spread between Senators from the
North and the South. The craziest example was the Bully Brooks incident of 1857.
During a session of Congress the senator from Massachusetts, Senator Charles
Sumner delivered a very provoking speech. His speech The Crime Against Kansas
was an attack against the Missourian Border Ruffians and the two senators Atchison,
and Andrew Butler of South Carolina for the crimes that the South had committed to
gain another slave state. Unfortunately, the young, hotheaded senator Preston S.
Brooks, who happened to be Senator Butler s nephew, could not stand for these
accusations. On May 22, 1856 he attacked Sumner with his eleven ounce cane until

the Pathfinder of the West, serving as a soldier/explorer. Will not a great political

candidate (Kennedy and Cohen). The bleeding Kansas once again showed its face in
the highest position in the land. The situation turned very dire for the anti slavery
men when the Supreme Court made the Dred Scott v. Stanford decision. The Dred
Scott v. Stanford case took place when a black slave named Dred Scott sued his
master for his freedom. Dred Scott argued that he deserved freedom because he
had served his master for five years on free territory. The ruling by the Supreme
Court said that since Dred Scott was a slave, his master s private property, the
Constitution did not allow the government to deprive someone of their property
without due process of law. Also, as a slave, the court could have dismissed the case
then and there, but they made a ruling and took it one step farther.
Comparison Of The Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers The Pittsburgh Steelers are a prime example of a Discourse
community. They have set goals and are not going to let anything get in the way
of those goals. As every NFL team has the goal of winning a Championship only 1
team achieves that goal each year. Some teams just aren t good in general and
some are great, but let little issues interfere with their team chemistry which makes
them lose. Then there are teams that come together on issues and work them out
so that they can be as successful as they can, but with this season there is a huge
issue that all teams are going to have to go through and that is the National
Anthem. The National Anthem is our country s theme song and it is very highly
respected throughout our great country. The Anthem talks about freedom, liberty,
and justice for all and about how there are great men and women who risk their
lives every day so our country can be free. So, when the Anthem is played at
professional football games everyone stands and holds their hand over their heart
and respects our flag and our Anthem because that is the least we can do to help
support and show our respects to our soldiers and our great country. As many
people can see, a lot of things are changing, and these changes started when Colin
Kaepernick (Former Quarterback for the San Francisco 49ers, now a free agent)
decided to take a knee instead of standing during the National Anthem in the 2016
17 season. Colin says he did this not to disrespect the soldiers and war veterans but,
to bring awareness of the issues going on in our country. Colin said that he felt that
our country is not free and justice is not done fairly. He believes there is too much
Police brutality there are people being murdered unjustly and not being held
accountable Kaepernick. Also, he believes African Americans are treated and looked
at differently and it has been that way in the past and it still hasn t changed. Once
Colin kneeled and said all the things he needed to get off his chest the world shook.
African Americanpeople and professional athletes all over the world agreed with
what he did. I m not saying white people didn t agree, but it was more African
Americans that felt the same way Colin did and
Cause and Effect Essay- Effects of a College Education

Overview of the Kingdom of Antiquistan
The Kingdom of Antiquistan Introduction Three thousand years ago, the Kingdom of
Antiquistan was formed when King Antiquate the Mighty persuaded warlords from
neighboring regions to swear fealty in return for taxes and troops. Although the
Antiquistanians left no written records and few material artifacts of their own, some
indication of their way of life, belief system, political structure, values and others
aspects of their lives can be discerned from accounts of these people contained in the
historical record. To this end, this paper provides a review and discussion concerning
the Kingdom of Antiquistan, including its geographical boundaries, topographical
information, estimated population and primary belief system. A description of the
political structure of the kingdom is followed by an analysis of their artistic elements
and influences, as well as what educational requirements and structure existed.
Finally, an assessment of the values that were practiced in the social and public
spheres in the Kingdom of Antiquistan is followed by a summary of the research and
important findings about the kingdom in the conclusion. Review and Discussion
Geographical boundaries The Kingdom of Antiquistan was bordered on the north by
modern Turkey, to the west by Lebanon, to the south by Persia and Arabian Gulf.
Topographical information Te Kingdom of Antiquistan was situated at or below sea

King Stephen King Reflection
The video Stephen King on Childhood changed the way I look at things. He claims,
the things that really scare us are the things that are going on just outside the
spotlight that you can t quite see ( Stephen King on Childhood ). The video starts off
with Stephen King talking about a day he was walking and came across a little girl
on the side of the street drawing in the dirt talking to herself or an imaginary person.
Then, he thoughtto himself, If I did that, somebody would come along and say there
s a grown man sitting in the dirt, talking to himself to people who aren t there and
drawing with a stick ( Stephen Kingon Childhood ). If I saw a grown man doing that,
I would be a little creeped out. If a little kid was doing it, I would think that was a
normal thing for kids to do. He is talking about how when we are kids, we can
think, imagine, and dream about whatever we want because there are no limits.
When we start growing up, we realize what reality is. We snap into this new mode
and change the way we think, imagine, and dream. When I was a kid, I would think
the most bizarre things, like when I would connect anything to a face, like cars,
buildings, clouds, houses, etc. I would try to explain it to my parents they would
think I was crazy and had no ideawhat I was talking about. Next, the interviewer,
Thomas Smith, asks Stephen, Did you have a highly developed sense of evil
yourself as a child or were you obsessed by the nature of evil? (Stephen King on
Childhood). King then goes on to ask why people ask about his childhood. He does
not remember having an unusual childhood. Then, because of him not remembering,
something bad must have happened when he was a kid. King then goes on to talk
about, I think a lot of people make the assumption that we block memories that are
terrible. When I think what really happens is this: that we think in a different way as
children. we tend to think around corners instead of in straight lines. sometimes for a
kid, the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line and that s the way
that we think and dream (Stephen King on Childhood). He says he uses this thought
to connect childhood memories to his paranormal present time stories. I think that
Quality Assurance in Health Care
INTRODUCTION
Pursuing to meet customer expectations is a critical and strategic decision. It is not
something an organization does simply to satisfy a standard but it is something does
to stay in the business. Meeting customer expectations should be the ultimate goal.
Although profit and revenues are very important, this is nothing compare the results
of fulfilling customer needs and expectations. Everyone must involve in meeting
customer expectations. All personnel should have the capability to meet what the
customers expect them to do. Customers are only satisfied if their expectations are
consistently met. To be competitive, expectations of customers must meet in a timely
and cost effective manner.

It is based on the belief that everything in the organization and business can be
improved.
As explained by Christina Saint Martin, in house expert in implementing Kaizen
system within healthcare organizations, Kaizen is a method of working which will
help us all to identify and eliminate waste and improve the quality of the processes
that are part of the healthcare experience. It also ensures that our staffs are
supported to deliver the highest quality and safest patient care (Wirral University
Teaching Hospital, 2010). Kaizen is a big help in NHS because it is the method
essential in maintaining and exceeding the level of care that the clients or the patients
expecting from the NHS to provide.
Kaizen s principle aims for improvement, effectiveness, safety, and waste reduction
and those who follow the approach often find a whole lot more in return
(Torrington and Hall, 1995). Inventory is used more efficiently as are employee
skills and more people are satisfied as they have direct impact on the process. Team
members are more satisfied and most likely to commit doing a good job, thus
satisfied customers are more likely to stay. It focuses on identifying problems at their
source, solving them at their source, and changing standards to ensure the problem
stays solved.
Although Kaizen s principle is for change and continuous improvement, its consensus
can take a long time to reach. It is difficult to start or to introduce a new system

There s No Place Like Home: Alfred Russel Wallace and His Modern
Biogeographical Legacy was presented by Lynne R. Parenti, Ph.D, on April
17,2015. Dr. Parenti presented in University of Hawaii at Manoa s BioMed building

as the history of biogeography.
Although many know that Darwin proposed the theory of evolution, Alfred Russel
Wallace helped Darwin propose the theory of evolution. According to Dr. Parenti,
Wallace also believed that biologypredicts geology. In addition, Dr. Parenti believes
that on the date Wallace wrote a letter about a remarkable observation he made, the
field of modern biogeography began. Wallace observed two distinct faunas the Indo

Parenti states that there are three principals to biogeography: endemism, terrain
fidelity, and area classification. In terrain classification, groups of endemic species are
predicted by using maps. Besides using mapping to interpret areas of endemic
species, biogeologist use the comparative method. The comparative method compares
animals found in certain biotas. She further explains that there are two mechanisms
that explain endemic distributions: dispersal and vicariance. Dr. Parenti adds that she
is very much in favor for vicariance. She explains that dispersion explains the
movement within an endemic area, but there are no generation

Vladimir Lenin As A Hero
Heroes come in many shapes and sizes, throughout time many of them have risen
and fallen. A hero is characterized as someone that is a leader to his people, they
reflect societal views, and yet they have a major flaw that often causes their
downfall. During the 20th century a revolutionary man rose from his years of exile
to lead the Bolshevik party into power, his name, Vladimir Lenin. Lenin stands as a
prime example of a leader that reflects Russias social values, and as a flaw for his
outspoken nature suffers from a near death assassination. Vladimir Lenin, like
Achilles, looked for ways that benefited him in order to gain power, he was an
aggressive man that had a certain set of beliefs that led to become a Marxist. Lenin
enrolled in the Kazan University, only to be expelled within his first term for
participating in a student demonstration. During his time from his studies, Lenin
immersed himself in revolutionary politics, taking a large interest in Karl Marxs
writings, this later played a large influence during his time of power. Lenin in
many cases is similar to Achilles, a fictional warrior from the Iliad. In book 22,
Priam compares Achilles to Orion s dog, to Greeks this is a bad omen. Priam then
turns to his son, who stands outside the gates of Troy, and tells him this, He is
more powerful by far than you, and pitiless (143, bk 22, lines 47 48). Priam knows
that Hector has no chance of winning against Achilles, for he is out to get revenge on

Biography on Juan Ponce de Leon
Although Juan Ponce De Leon s date of birth isn t certain he was most likely born
in 1474, he was born into a noble Spanish family and he was the son of a military
hero. Juan Ponce De Leon was born in Santervas De Campos in Castilla which is
now known as Spain. In his youth he spent his time working as a Page for a
Spanish Knight. As a Page he cleaned his Knights clothing, cared for his weapons
and tended to his horses. In return he was taught a code of honor and learned the
way in which he could be expected to behave as a knight. As an adult he moved to
Cadiz and became a Squire, he was taught to hunt and handle weapons such as
swords and Spanish guns that looked like rifles. Because of this he was recruited to
fight against the Moors in Granada from 1487 to 1492. Nevertheless he was
considered of a person without importance when he took his first expedition in 1493
on Christopher Columbuss second voyage to the new world. This voyage started in
the harbor of Cadiz and led to the Canary Islands, which is where the last touch of
land was had before amassing the large body of water that is the Atlantic which
eventually led to Espanola. This particular voyage took roughly twenty two days to

Disco In The 1970s
This article is an in depth discussion and look at the development of disco in its
distinct forms throughout the 1970s. The decade where, as David Brackett the author
describes an underground phenomenon, that grew and morphed into the most popular
music throughout the decade. There were three very distinct occurrences during the
1970s, as described in the piece. One, a musical style, two, a performance site and
three, a musical fandom or participation all made up discoduring the height of the
1970s. This was very different from rock music and its followers, also, seemingly

Melamed (2014) reported that O Donnell received his record breaking award in part
due to a 16% share of a $350 million slice of the penalty levied against Bank of
America. O Donnell is also protected under the Sarbanes Oxley Act from any
retaliation by Countrywide or Bank of
America. As for Bank of America, the penalty signaled the beginning of zero
tolerance for corrupt corporate officials. In the report, Melamed (2014) made

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to show the capability to understand the set of laws that
are the part of principles of the software engineering. In this paper, it is discussed that
there are many laws related to the software engineering but only few of them are to
be addressed. Boehm first and second law, Conway s laws, Parnas laws Corbato law
were discussed with examples. There are two relationship processes that are also
discussed, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For instance, Science Applications International Corporation developed special
software package that would be send to 250 to 500 field personnel and team
according to organizational structure. The software will be further transferred to the
organizational employees as per the departmental structure.
Parnas Law
David Parnas develop the Law of Hiding the information in Modular Programming.
The types of thing are hidden is the information in the modular programming. When
the design decision changed, they are hidden through the programming to protect
the other parts from the general alteration. In other words, it also states that
information hiding is the aptitude to avoid positive aspect of class from being
available to its client by using other programming features. For example, Adabas
developed dedicated software using a programming language known as Natural.
The software allowed the agents and clerks to use it for basic purposes only.
However, more advance usage of the program was hidden from the low level support
and only expert programming agents had the access to this software. When you
change something, the main risk should appear in the software development process,
the code is changed through the shifting process and the design decision should
change the interface as well as the whole backhand process (Merz et.al, 2014).

Productivity and reliability rely upon the length of a program s content, free of dialect

The Inevitable Fate In Beowulf
All of us have bad and good luck. The man who persists through the bad luck who
who keep right on going is the man who is there when the good luck comes and is
ready to receive it (Robert Collier). Beowulf perfectly demonstrates this quote
because throughout the story he has to push through the bad luck and be there
ready for the good. Beowulf is a classic work of literature from Anglo Saxon times.
The book is filled with a sense of impending death and sudden change which leads
to a very unique mood for the book. The sense of impending death and sudden
change is shown by the sense of inevitable doom and the role fate plays. Beowulf is
full of a strong sense of the inevitable doom that no one can control. It is shown by

The nature of fate also made a major impact upon the sense of doom and death.
Fate played a major role in pagan society during this time period and this is
demonstrated when, in his old age, Beowulf goes to fight the dragon and it says,
That noble prince would end his day on earth, soon, would leave his brief life, but
would take the dragon with him . This means that Beowulf accepts that he will die
eventually and is leaving it up to fate whether or not he kills the dragon or if he is
killed so, this allows him to fight with no fear just like he did against Grendel.
During this time period life expectancy was much shorter which led to the sense
that death was always right there waiting. Couple the short life span with the
chance of war or disease killing you and life became a thing to cherish with death
being the only thing a person was guaranteed to as even infants died before they
could even do anything. Disease that today would be no problem for our modern
medicine would wipe out entire towns and villages. With the wrong luck
everything you worked for in your life could be wiped out and there is nothing that
could be done. Beowulf is a story of great courage and triumph over adversity. But
over the whole story there is a hanging sense of dread and impending death. This is
shown by the sense of impending death, the strong sense of doom, and the nature of
luck throughout the story. These play a mojo role in shaping how the story
I Was A Good Eater
I was born on a Tuesday March 9 1999. I was born in Sioux fall, SD in Minnehaha

I had lost all of my body fat so I had loose skin.Because I was overdue I attend up fast
because I was a good eater. On the day I was born, my motherAnna went to the
hospital to be induced. Which is what they do when a baby is overdue. My Mom
and my sisters Susy and Amy drove in early at 7 am so they could start the process
of me being born. They knew it was a boy because my Mom had gotten an

Transit Space After The Diavolo Performance
The interests of the theatrical criticism should involve telling the arts done by
dancers, communicating their message, and appraising their arts. The fundamental
components of the art of dance are based on the operations that the critic can perform.
Some of them include the description of the dance, the feeling, interpretation of the
message, as well as the contextual explanation of the dance. The transit space is one

Charles Dickens s Characters In A Tale Of Two Cities
Characters play an important role in books, novels, articles, and other pieces of
literature. Their characteristics, actions, personalities, and looks allows an author to
create any story he or she wants with the use of unique characters. Charles Dickens
creates a powerful story with his characters in A Tale of Two Cities
. Some of his
characters are more important than others, but none of them go unnoticed, and none
of them are unnecessary. Dickens does not create complex characters, and each of his
characters are easy to understand and connect with. The development of each of his
characters is clear and evident. Theme is also important to a story, without theme
there would be no moral to a story. Along with the development of characters, Charles
Dickensalso creates a very powerful theme in this novel. The theme in A Tale of
Two Cities is the need for sacrifice. Dickens uses three specific characters to present
this theme. Through each character a different story is told, and Dickens uses them
in three unique ways. Charles Dickens develops the characters of Doctor Manette,
Charles Darnay, and Sydney Carton to display the theme of the need for sacrifice.
Charles Dickens builds Doctor Manette s character by first explaining his
background, which leads to the theme of the need for sacrifice. Doctor Manette is
a kind and forgiving character that has suffered many years in prison because of
the St. Evremonde family. Doctor Manette suffers greatly because of the haunting
years in prison. In the article A Tale of Two Cities the author says, Manette is
mentally ill from his time in prison. He is reunited with his daughter, Lucie, and
brought to England, where he slowly begins to recover (1). Doctor Manette is
released after eighteen years and reunites with his daughter, Lucie, in Paris, and he
falls in love with her. Lucie becomes her father s source of happiness and his reason
for staying healthy. Dickens displays this connection by saying that the sound of
Lucie s voice and the touch of her hand benefits Doctor Manette greatly (72). When
Doctor Manette has flashbacks from prison, Lucie is the only person that helps him
come back to himself. Doctor Manette frantically makes shoes, a hobby he learned in
prison,
Federal Emergency Management Agency (DHS)
The White House, federal government, and the US Congress created the idea of
homeland security following the events of September 11, 2001 (Bullock, Haddow,
Coppola, 2013). The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is often associated
with prevention and mitigation of terrorist actions. In reality, DHS is responsible for
a much wider spectrum of hazards that pose a threat to the Nation s safety and
security. For example, DHS assists with creating and implementing newer building
codes to increase their survivability during hurricanes. Through its oversight of the
Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), DHS ensures our Nation is
prepared for natural disasters such as flooding, earthquakes, mud/rock slides, and
tornadoes. DHS also assists
Traditional Family Guy Stereotypes
A traditional family is a family where the Dad and Mum both work and the kids stay
at home and they all live under the same roof. It is a social construct that varies from
culture to culture and, over time, the definition changes within a culture.
Family guy is a popular television show that is often viewed as one of the funnier
shows the television has to offer. Whilst there are issues that are relatable to most
families in today s society. I don t believe that the family reflects the real world. The
show is politically incorrect as Writers use stereotypes to create humour. Stereotypes
are used because they are easily relatable to the audience. Unfortunately, these
stereotypes are often believed and spread amongst people which often leads ... Show

His role in the family is to work, protect and provide. However, he is immature,
obese, car free, risk taking, out spoken, dim witted and an alcoholic. This is why the
audience laugh, because of the way he projects himself and how immature he is
around his family. Unfortunately, being obese can lead to an early death and for the
show to make it so irrelevant is concerning. Alcoholism is also a devastating disease
and ruins families and should not be taken lightly when this cartoon has such a young
audience.
Lois is Peter s wife and the mother of Chris, Meg, and Stewie. She is a housewife
who cares for her kids and her husband. Lois thinks that the past she had, has made
her a better person. This character is probably the closest to reality with the way she
cares for her kids and families.
Meg is the Griffins 18 year old eldest child and only daughter. She is a self
conscious, unattractive teenage girl with severely low self esteem being portrayed
as generally soft and non rebellious. The other family members treat her as an
object of abuse and belittle her by saying she must be adopted. Megs character
probably hits close to home for many teenage girls. Whilst having her family
members say she is adopted and ridicule her may be funny on the surface, many
teenagers can probably see what is wrong with

clothing business at the age of 13, when he went to work for a local shirtmaker in
A Coruna , Spain, delivering the shop s goods, which included lingerie and

Working out of his sister s home, Ortega began developing his own designs. One day
in the early 1960s, he hit upon the formula that was to become central to the

World War I ( 1914-1918 ) Essay
History repeats itself a third time.
World War means a war that affects the whole world; it specially involves and
destroys the most powerful and biggest nations of the time. It is a war on such a
huge scale that affects also countries of different parts of the world, it lasts for
multiple years. So far only two events that happened on a huge scale that humanity
has never seen before the 20th century and have been labeled as World War ; those
are World War I(1914 1918) and World War II (1939 1945). The term World War
III is usually used to describe a predicted global conflict in the future. However, these
days a lot of people are assuming it might be in the near future.
Some historians speculate that he term World War was coined in the 20th century,
Almost 10 years before World War I. it was first mentioned in the title of a book
called Der Weltkrieg: Deutsche Traume ( The World War: German Dreams ) written
in 1904 by the German writer August Wilhelm Otto Niemann, it is said that World
War is a literal translation of the word Weltkrieg . According to the oxford English
dictionary the word was first used in the English language in 1909. Some say there
was actually more than two World Wars that happened and that there are in fact
events that could be classified as World Wars, as they are intercontinental wars. For
example, the Mongol invasion, the Ottoman Habsburg wars during the 16th century,
War of the Spanish Succession (1701 1713), Seven Years War

The Royal Game of Ur
Ancient Mesopotamia
2000 BCE
The Royal Game of Ur: an unknown influence on modern entertainment 4,000 years
ago, entertainment was not as different as many people today might think. The Royal
Game of Ur, also known as twenty squares, was a Mesopotamian game played by
many. The artifact was found in a tomb in the ancient city of Ur, along with many
other luxurious artifacts. The discovery of the Royal Game of Ur helped explain how
modern board games were inspired by the entertainment of ancient civilizations, and
how entertainment plays a major role in civilization.
Ancient Mesopotamia was the first civilization ever formed. A long term drought in
the Middle East caused a community to form in the fertile crescent, ... Show more

This is just like how in Monopoly, the luxury tax square means you pay a fine of
$200. The Royal Game of Ur is a two person game. Each person receives seven
tokens, and there are three dice, all of which are made out of stone. The tokens
have five dots on them, and each player has different color tokens, which could be
either black or white. The game is a racing game, where both players start and
finish on their respective side, but they race up the middle shaft. The object of the
game is to move each of your seven tokens onto the board, and then off the board.
The dice are shaped in a tetrahedron shape, or a four sided pyramid. Each die has a
dot on two of the corners, and when the three dice are rolled, the number of dots
that are on the top corner determines the number of spaces moved. If one player s
token claims a square on the board, and the other player s token lands on the square,
you must take your token off the board and restart. Although these rules are very
basic. they can get much more complicated, which is why the game was so

  • 1. To Kill A Mockingbird Analytical Essay Writing an analytical essay on the topic "To Kill A Mockingbird" can be both challenging and rewarding. On one hand, Harper Lee's classic novel provides rich material for analysis, with its complex characters, layered themes, and thought-provoking social commentary. On the other hand, the depth of the narrative and the multitude of issues explored in the book require careful consideration and a nuanced approach. Crafting an analytical essay demands a thorough understanding of the novel, as well as the ability to dissect its various elements. Analyzing characters like Atticus Finch, Scout, and Boo Radley requires delving into their motivations, relationships, and the impact they have on the overall narrative. Additionally, exploring the novel's themes of racial injustice, moral growth, and societal norms demands a keen eye for detail and a thoughtful interpretation of the text. Moreover, expressing one's thoughts coherently and persuasively is crucial in essay writing. The challenge lies not only in presenting a clear thesis statement and supporting arguments but also in weaving them together seamlessly to form a compelling narrative. Balancing textual evidence with personal insights, and connecting individual points to the overarching themes of the novel, can be a delicate task. However, despite its challenges, writing an analytical essay on "To Kill A Mockingbird" can be a gratifying experience. Unraveling the layers of the narrative, exploring the intricacies of the characters, and delving into the novel's societal critiques can deepen one's understanding of literature and foster critical thinking skills. • 2. Kit Fox Research Paper Kit foxes, also called Vulpes Macrotis are among the smallest foxes in America. The kit fox is very easily mistaken for a dog however when you look at their appearance you realize that proportions are not that of a dog s. Many people often confuse the kit fox with its larger cousin, the grey desert fox. Kit foxes have exceptionally large and closely set ears. Their ears help spread the body heat in the desert like environments. Kit foxes typically have a slender and small body with long legs and a very puffy tail. Their tails stick straight out behind them, and it tipped in black. Kit foxes coats change with the seasons going from a rusty tan to grey in the summer, to a silvery grey color with a white belly in the winter. The kit fox s
  • 3. Sex Sexuality in the Poetry of Walt Whitman I have not gain d acceptance of my own time, but have fallen back on fond dreams of the future (by Walt Whitman, qtd. in Miller, Sex and Sexuality) SEX AND SEXUALITY IN THE POETRY OF WALT WHITMAN Perhaps, in the following essay I put a quart into a pint pot, because I intend to puzzle out, or rather, find and give a deeper insight into Walt Whitmans sexuality that is still a question on agenda. There are readers and critics who state that it is a shame to humble his poetry to this level, but I think that he was homosexual in his era the topic cannot be left untouched, because therefore this factor was very influential on his everyday life, thinking and hence on his poetry, too. His only volume, Leaves of Grass В– that was ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the concepts of men and women are not exclusive but inclusive ones. As I pointed it before, in the first edition of Leaves of Grass the themes of sex and sexuality appeared namely in the poems Song of Myself , The Sleepers , and I Sing the Body Electric . In 1856, two more poems were added; Poem of Procreation (now A Woman Waits for Me ) and Bunch Poem ( Spontaneous Me ). In the 1860 edition, he collected those poems that are concerned with sexuality into the cluster Enfans d Adam ( Children of Adam ) and those that celebrate adhesiveness into Calamus . In particular the Calamus poems, written after a failed and very likely homosexual relationship, contain passages that were interpreted to represent the born of a gay man. The name of the poems alone would have sufficed to convey homosexual connotations, since the calamus plant is associated with Kalamos, a god in antique mythology, who was transformed with grief by the death of his lover, the male youth Karpos. In addition, the calamus plant s central characteristic is a prominent central vein that is phallic in appearance. Now I intend to turn my attention to concrete examples from Walt Whitman s poetry to provide some evidence of that sexuality played an important role in his poetry, and there are possible readings to find traces for that. Of course, we cannot only rely on selected
  • 4. FIFA 18 Essay Last year, FIFA 17 was the best selling game on the PS4 with over a whopping 10 million units sold worldwide. Not only did it perform exceptionally well on the PlayStation, on all platforms, it came second to Pokemon Sun/Moon on the 3DS. Unquestionably, EA s FIFA series is huge. It s fair to say, certainly by now at least, EA Sportsknow that they re going to top the sales charts each year. While it s possible this may cause complacency, EA never seem to rest on their laurels. Although last year saw significant refinements from FIFA 16 to 17, there certainly isn t as many wholesale changes in FIFA 18. However, subtle improvements to the gameplay, as well as new features in the Career Mode means FIFA 18 is EA s most complete FIFA to date.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Pleasingly, although not perfectly, FIFA 18 stays true to the style of play certain teams are known for. Though one can argue that this was true of FIFA 17 and to a degree, previous installments, the 2017/2018 season is still in its infancy and where Liverpool play a similar way to last season, Man City s attacking style is slighly different with FIFA 18 mimicking it rather well. The care for attention to detail is also true to that of individulal players. While it would be impossible to uniquely program thousands of players individually, the bigger name, as well as some lesser known players, all have their own style of play. Of course, Ronaldo and Messi play like their real life counterparts but it s refreshing to see a player like Matt Ritchie behave in a similar fashon to real life. While tactical set ups and individual players are sound, as far as AI behaviour goes when adapting during a match, I haven t noticed too many differences between FIFA s 17 and 18. However, one noticible difference involves how teams react when falling a goal or two behind. One gripe I ve always had of FIFA games is how the AI reacts to going a goal or two down early on. Teams tend to go kamikaze and pile men forward prematurity leaving gaps in defence. This behaviour is common at the latter stages of a real match but not so much early on. With FIFA 18, teams do seem less partial to keep throwing men forward nonsensically when falling behind, now only doing so when the
  • 5. The Four Layers Of The Respiratory System The respiratory system is made up of two different parts, the upper respiratory tract which includes the nose, mouth and the beginning on the trachea. This is the part that is in charge of taking in the air and letting it back out again, and then the lower respiratory tract which is made up of the trachea and the lungs. There are four different layers that make up the trachea, these include the mucosa which is the in most layer. This consists of ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelium tissue which contains goblet cells that secrete a tacky mucus that lines the walls of the inner trachea so that it catches any debris breathed in via the air before it hits the lungs. Ciliated pseudostratified columnar epithelial cells are a rectangular

Therefore, the amount of spatial datasets being created and exchanged between organisations or people is increasing considerably. According to a released study by for the period of 2004 2010, the overall growth of geospatial industry has increased by 11% in the areas of data, software and services. • 7. Genetic Markers Don t Always Match Physical Appearance Genetic markers don t always match physical appearance. First of all, a genetic marker is a gene or short sequence of DNA. Since the beginning of time our genetics have been changing constantly due to a lot of different aspects. Some causes of change include aging. As we get older our bodies chemicals change, we produce more and less of certain chemicals, for example; insulin. The changing of chemicals affect our body not just on the outside, but on the inside. It affects the way our genetic markers respond and can alter them. Some diseases are caused by a genetic mutation, or permanent change in one or more specific genes which can be caused by aging. Aging can lead to our bodies getting diseases like Alzheimer s or Parkinson s. (Lewis)... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most epigenetic changes that occur in sperm and egg cells get erased when the two combine to form a fertilized egg in a process called reprogramming. This reprogramming allows the cells of the fetus to start from scratch and make their own epigenetic changes. However, scientists think that some of the epigenetic changes in parents sperm and egg cells may avoid the reprogramming process and make it through to the next generation. If this is true, things like the food a person eats before they conceive could affect their future child. Scientists now think epigenetics can play a role in the development of some cancers. For instance, an epigenetic change that silences a tumor suppressor gene, such as a gene that keeps the growth of the cell in check, could lead to uncontrolled cellular growth. Another example might be an epigenetic change that turns off genes that help repair damaged DNA, leading to an increase in DNA damage, which in turn, increases cancer risk. (US, National Institutes of Health) Another reason our genetic markers change over time is because we get diseases, also called a genetic disorder. A genetic disorder is a disease that is caused by a change or mutation in an individual s DNA sequence. These mutations can be due to an error in DNA replication or due to environmental factors, such as cigarette smoke and exposure to radiation, which cause changes in the DNA sequence. These changes can affect
  • 8. Remember The Titans Diversity Remember the Titans is a film based on the true story of Virginia High School football team working to come together during desegregation in the 1970s. Herman Boone, a black head coach, is hired to lead the T.C Williams High School Football Team. The team formerly led by a white coach, Bill Yoast, is better known by their nickname, The Titans. Both Boone and Yoast must work together to bring their white and black players together in a time where segregation across racial lines in the south was commonly accepted. Boone and Yoast are successful in doing this during the team s training camp, only to return to find that bringing the team together would be only one of the challenges they faced. We see both coaches work together and lead the team to an undefeated season that helped unite the town and overcome its own racial strife. One of the movies overarching themes is team building through adversity and using diversity to strengthen a team. We see this team building done by many characters, most notably Yoast and Boone the two coaches. They are helped in this by the players themselves as well. A white player named Gerry Bertier and a black player name Julius Campbell. Both players are initially determined to side along racial lines during their team building experience at camp. Yoast and Boone help set the example for the players as Yoast swallow his pride and accepts a lesser position on the coaching staff than what he previously held. The example set by Yoast helps

They make it seem like whatever they do men must be doing it to impress girls. These actions consist of pranks and other foolish aspects of a person s possible mentality. Their decisions also involve incompetence and the feeling that women are dominant. Another gender stereotype is that women are suppose to be domesticated and not like the animal. Women do all the housework and take care of everything for the men that they are not to do. For racial stereotypes it could be anything from skin tone to accents. It acts like some races are inferior to others. The reasoning for this is that stereotypes appeal to their target markets. This adds humour to the commercials (Joseph) Race and gender stereotypes are the most popular, but children are also brought into this. For children it is all about the colors. Blue is for boys only and pink is for girls. This is geared towards children saying kids if your parents buy this castle you can finally be a princess or king and it contains other children smiling and having

  • 11. The Effects Of Environmental Degradation On The Environment The human relationship to the environment has evolved over time as humans have made technological advancements and cultural changes. While some may argue that humanity is distant from nature, that could not be further from the truth. While the human relationship to nature is not the same as it may have been in the past, humans still rely on nature for their livelihood. Humans also have a strong impact on nature, and processes which occur in nature, through their actions. In the last decade, the issue of environmental degradation has become a topic of global concern and discussion. This discussion is threading together a narrative that helps the public and scholars better understand the human relationship to the environment. While this push forward in environmental agenda is a good thing, there needs to be an ongoing dialogue which allows for the understanding that environmental degradation is not only a risk to a certain biome, but all of the diversity that exists within a certain region a good example of this being Papua New Guinea. The rainforest of Papua New Guinea are incredibly rich and diverse environments; the rainforest not only houses a wide variety of plant and animal species, but is also home many indigenous groups. By examining the changes in Papua New Guinea s rainforest throughout time, a better understanding of the complex and dynamic human relationship to nature will be achieved.
  • 12. Declaration Of Independence And The Way To Wealth Analysis Thomas Jefferson and Benjamin Franklin both show an unfamiliar patriotism for a country not yet formed in their works The Declaration of Independence and The Way to Wealth respectively. Their ideology was manifested in their written works and carried on through their actions. Jefferson lived a life as a wealthy farmer and understood that government control was not a necessity, especially when it ventured to tyranny. Benjamin Franklin embodied the Puritan ideology when urging others to be industrious and frugal. Both of these ideals are examples of American ideology, and Thomas Jeffersonand Benjamin Franklin express these in their works. Poor Richard forms the American ideology to be a hard working and economical through all of his words of wisdom. There are no gains without pains (Way to Wealth 237), which expresses the hard work mentality that was placed into the American ideology because Americans were considered to be of lower class than the people of Europe. Assuming that the Americans were lesser than them, the Europeans did not pay much attention to the work ethic of the new nation, much less the nation as a whole. So Benjamin Franklin wrote an Almanac, giving him a way to share his knowledge with those in America. He created a society that would believe that industry pays debts, while despair increaseth them (Way to Wealth 237) making America relevant to the world, giving the country a place because it looked past their present situation and more toward how to improve their livelihood. Benjamin Franklin, an avid supporter of a hardworking and frugal society, sought to inform us with his adages and make America into a better nation. Benjamin Franklin helped form the American ideology of Industriousness and

This quote by Edith Wharton presents how to spread light in the darkest of darkness just as the Congo was back in the 1888 when King Leopold brought the horror to the natives of the Congo. In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of Darknessshows how man can be a light even in the darkest of darkness even though it may look impossible. Marlow, the narrator of the novel, tells of his story about he tries to be a light in the darkness, referring to the Congo. With this in mind, Conrad shows biblical allusions by describing the people of the inner station as a whited sepulcher (Conrad 12). Even though a whited sepulcher is a negative term, from the view of the white men at the Congo, they are being a light by civilizing the natives through pain. A whited sepulcher is outwardly appear beautiful, but within are full of dead people s bones and all uncleanness (Matthew 23:27). The outward appearance of the people who ran the Congo were viewed doing good from people outside of the Congo which is the way how people saw it as being a light in the lives of those who were walking in the dark. Not to mention, faith brings light in darkness just as Jesus brought light into the world, which the world was dark. We learn that it is a form of cheating and that there are consequences. Consequences can result in failure of the class and being expelled from the college. In Webster s Dictionary plagiarism is defined as, the act of using another person s words or ideas without giving credit . This means anything that is created by another person must be citied and given credit to the original author. Without giving acknowledgment you are committing the act of plagiarism. While, 56% of postgraduate students reported plagiarizing their own material (Owunwanne, Rustagi Dada, 2010). Why is plagiarism unethical? Imagine a world where everything that is created or thought of can be stolen from you and you do not receive any credit for your creations. This could cause people to stop being motivated and slowly rot the world from lack of innovation and improvement. Plagiarism severely disrupts academic activities and takes from academic prestige. John Stuart Mill was a classical liberal thinker and believed, through the influence of his father, that man deserved to live a life that promoted the greatest amount of happiness with limited government intervention. He presumed that people had enough knowledge and discernment to make moral choices that they could live with. The individual and their personal reflection of right or wrong decided their moral standards. Mill also noted that people had a desire to be accepted by society and they have a fear of being disapproved. Mill believed government should intervene only when one individual may hurt another. People have the freedom to hold and express their own opinions, which would deny the government the ability to choose a majority over a minority. In this government their authority would be limited in its ability to intervene unless an individual was harming another. To think that because those who wield power in society wield in the end that of government, therefore it is of no use to attempt to influence the constitution of the government by acting on opinion, is to forget that opinion is itself one of the greatest active social forces. One person with a belief is a social power equal to ninety nine who have only interests. Mill s belief promotes that each individual s opinion is important and therefore should be listened to by the government. The government would not be able to turn a blind eye to a minority; this is one of many influences on classical liberalism. In classical liberalism the government has limited say in the economy and ensures that everyone has the right to his or her freedom of opinion. An

Then there are teams that come together on issues and work them out so that they can be as successful as they can, but with this season there is a huge issue that all teams are going to have to go through and that is the National Anthem. The National Anthem is our country s theme song and it is very highly respected throughout our great country. The Anthem talks about freedom, liberty, and justice for all and about how there are great men and women who risk their lives every day so our country can be free. So, when the Anthem is played at professional football games everyone stands and holds their hand over their heart and respects our flag and our Anthem because that is the least we can do to help support and show our respects to our soldiers and our great country. He claims, the things that really scare us are the things that are going on just outside the spotlight that you can t quite see ( Stephen King on Childhood ). The video starts off with Stephen King talking about a day he was walking and came across a little girl on the side of the street drawing in the dirt talking to herself or an imaginary person. Then, he thoughtto himself, If I did that, somebody would come along and say there s a grown man sitting in the dirt, talking to himself to people who aren t there and drawing with a stick ( Stephen Kingon Childhood ). If I saw a grown man doing that, I would be a little creeped out. If a little kid was doing it, I would think that was a normal thing for kids to do. He is talking about how when we are kids, we can think, imagine, and dream about whatever we want because there are no limits. When we start growing up, we realize what reality is. We snap into this new mode and change the way we think, imagine, and dream. When I was a kid, I would think the most bizarre things, like when I would connect anything to a face, like cars, buildings, clouds, houses, etc. I would try to explain it to my parents they would think I was crazy and had no ideawhat I was talking about. Next, the interviewer, Thomas Smith, asks Stephen, Did you have a highly developed sense of evil yourself as a child or were you obsessed by the nature of evil? (Stephen King on Childhood). King then goes on to ask why people ask about his childhood. He does not remember having an unusual childhood. Then, because of him not remembering, something bad must have happened when he was a kid. King then goes on to talk about, I think a lot of people make the assumption that we block memories that are terrible. When I think what really happens is this: that we think in a different way as children. we tend to think around corners instead of in straight lines. sometimes for a kid, the shortest distance between two points is not a straight line and that s the way that we think and dream (Stephen King on Childhood). He says he uses this thought to connect childhood memories to his paranormal present time stories. I think that

The nature of fate also made a major impact upon the sense of doom and death. Fate played a major role in pagan society during this time period and this is demonstrated when, in his old age, Beowulf goes to fight the dragon and it says, That noble prince would end his day on earth, soon, would leave his brief life, but would take the dragon with him . This means that Beowulf accepts that he will die eventually and is leaving it up to fate whether or not he kills the dragon or if he is killed so, this allows him to fight with no fear just like he did against Grendel. During this time period life expectancy was much shorter which led to the sense that death was always right there waiting. Couple the short life span with the chance of war or disease killing you and life became a thing to cherish with death being the only thing a person was guaranteed to as even infants died before they could even do anything. Disease that today would be no problem for our modern medicine would wipe out entire towns and villages. With the wrong luck everything you worked for in your life could be wiped out and there is nothing that could be done. Beowulf is a story of great courage and triumph over adversity. But over the whole story there is a hanging sense of dread and impending death. This is shown by the sense of impending death, the strong sense of doom, and the nature of luck throughout the story. These play a mojo role in shaping how the story

Some of his characters are more important than others, but none of them go unnoticed, and none of them are unnecessary. Dickens does not create complex characters, and each of his characters are easy to understand and connect with. The development of each of his characters is clear and evident. Theme is also important to a story, without theme there would be no moral to a story. Along with the development of characters, Charles Dickensalso creates a very powerful theme in this novel. The theme in A Tale of Two Cities is the need for sacrifice. Dickens uses three specific characters to present this theme. Through each character a different story is told, and Dickens uses them in three unique ways. Charles Dickens develops the characters of Doctor Manette, Charles Darnay, and Sydney Carton to display the theme of the need for sacrifice. Charles Dickens builds Doctor Manette s character by first explaining his background, which leads to the theme of the need for sacrifice. Doctor Manette is a kind and forgiving character that has suffered many years in prison because of the St. Evremonde family. Doctor Manette suffers greatly because of the haunting years in prison.
