Sasha has imposed on the family by forging a promissory note and furthering his debt. Moreover,

Abstract
There two main means of providing and producing public services in the United States at the
different levels of government. The first mode is knows as in house production by direct
government workforce and contracting out to the private sector, which we refer to as privatization.
Privatization in the United States mainly implies contracting out of public services to the public
sector. Examples are local governments like the city or the county contracting out services like
street cleaning, garbage pick up and a disposal, education, healthcare, etc.
During the last three decades, privatization has become increasingly popular in our government.
This noticeable growth of privatization of public services has generated lots of discussions and

In a world that has become immune to accepting all types of art, Marya Mannes believes we have
lost our standards and ability to identify something as good or bad . In her essay, How Do You
Know It s Good , she discusses society s tendency to accept everything out of fear of wrongly
labelling something as being good or bad. She touches on various criteria to judge art, such as the
artist s purpose, skill and craftsmanship, originality, timelessness, as well as unity within a piece
rather than chaos. She says that an individual must decide if something is good on the basis of
instinct, experience, and association (Mannes). I believe that by using standards and the
process of association, we will be able to judge what makes an art piece good in comparison to
others. However, Mannes forces me to consider the difference between what may be appealing
versus what is actually good, and when deciding which art we should accept, which is truly
more important. I believe that good and bad are two ends of a large, subjective spectrum of grey
area. It is possible for a piece of art to be good in some areas and bad in others, and if something
does not live up to all of our standards, it does not necessarily mean it should be dismissed. Thus,
I believe my personal standards for judging art are based on which my standards are largely
based on the personal reaction evoked from a piece of art. Though I agree with Mannes

riots on that traumatic night, over 100 Jewslost their lives, there was more than 30,000 Jews
arrested and sent to jails or concentration camps, 2,000 Jewish community buildings and
synagogues were destroyed, and over 7,500 Jewish stores were looted (Schwartz 50). There was
nothing left for the Jews, everything was destroyed. This was the first time Jews realized the
severity of their situation and knew they had to start taking measures to ensure their family s safety.
On the verge of WWII 10,000 Jewish children left their homes, their families, and their childhoods
behind. On November 21st 1938 British Parliament took action by allowing Jewish children from
Germany to come to England. Members of the British Parliament wanted to take action because
they were horrified by the Nazis actions. They wanted to help the Jews, but many concerns arose
from the citizens. Citizens were worried the mass income of refugees would hurt the economy, take
jobs, and require public support (Holtman 107). In order to eliminate these issues it was decided
that only children were going to be allowed into the country. Children were more adaptable, they

The beginning of the Nineteenth Century was very difficult for most people in Baltimore. If you
owned land, were white, and a male, then most likely you were well off with a job and had
financial stability in the household. Free African American women, white women, white males,
enslaved African American, and free African American
males all faced similar, yet different
obstacles. This did not really allow any of these groups to prosper in this time of history, but

Women have been viewed as less skilled and weaker than men. This has and still does keep them
from getting ahead. Women back then and today are underpaid and are less likely to be hired
for a manual labor job if in competition with a male. Women had to deal with the stereotyping,
the discrimination, and the looking down upon from the male population. Most saw a white
women as a mother or a seamstress or a household keeper. Women were trying to move ahead in
society and really had no way to do so. In the early Nineteenth Century, white working women
really had no way of prospering and showing the male population what they are really worth. What
it meant to be a white women in this time period and social economic class represents how hard it
was for them to get ahead in Baltimore. They have had to deal with men and African American
women competing and winning over their possible job opportunities. They dealt with stereotyping
and discrimination through both gender and race and have continuously been underpaid. None of
these groups had it easy, but for the white working women it has not been easy in almost any
