Essay On Leadership Experience
Writing an essay on the topic of leadership experience can be both challenging and rewarding.
On one hand, it requires introspection and reflection on personal experiences, which can
sometimes be uncomfortable or difficult to articulate. It demands a deep understanding of one's
own actions, decisions, and their impacts on others. Moreover, conveying these experiences in a
coherent and impactful manner requires skillful writing and storytelling abilities.
Furthermore, discussing leadership can be a nuanced task. It's not merely about listing
achievements or positions held but delving into the qualities, challenges faced, and lessons
learned. It necessitates analyzing successes and failures alike, and drawing meaningful insights
from them.
Crafting an engaging essay on leadership experience also involves understanding the audience
and tailoring the narrative to resonate with them. Whether it's an academic assignment, a job
application, or a personal statement, the tone, style, and emphasis may vary, adding another layer
of complexity to the writing process.
Despite these challenges, the process of writing such an essay can be incredibly valuable. It
offers an opportunity for self-discovery, growth, and the chance to communicate one's strengths
and aspirations effectively. It's a chance to showcase not just what one has done, but who they
are as a leader and how they envision making a difference in the future.
In conclusion, while writing an essay on leadership experience can be daunting, it is also an
enriching journey that allows individuals to reflect on their past, present, and future aspirations.
It's a chance to refine one's narrative and share meaningful insights with others.

Odysseus Reflection
Odysseus is a roman warrior that spent his whole life trying to find his home and
family at a place names Ithaca. He spent a solid ten years on the sea for this same
objective. His son Telechamus is a full grown man trying to follow his fathers
footsteps and his wife Penelope has been overwhelmed with suitors wishing to marry
her so they can gain the wealth of Odysseus. Gaining the wealth of Odysseus will
give them more power than they already have. For the seven out of the ten years he
has been searching in the Mediterranean Sea until he got ambushed and held by his
own free will by the goddess calypso. Luckily Zeus sends a god to tell her to release
Odysseus then he reached the island of scheria where he been helped returning home.

This is a start because Odysseus don t know what could be out there but still he
putting his life before the men on his crew. At the same time, he wasn t just their
running into stuff he thinks before he did any action. He gave some his men
orders to guard the ship and go with him. This show another quality a leader has; a
leader always thinks situations out before doing anything stupid and they give
orders to their allies. On the top paragraph on 378 the cyclops killed the people
from try and made him his meal. Odysseus was sickened of seeing something like
that. He now got an experience of what would happen if he messes up. Instead of
attacking him then and there he thinks smart and planned to kill him in the morning
since it would be difficult to move his giant rock he put in the exit so if he killed
him then and there they would ve died to. Odysseus didn t want the attack to fail so
he tricked the cyclops into drinking the wine and the planned worked better than he
expected.
Odysseus tricked the cyclops into drinking the wine then while he was defenseless
and weak, Odysseus took action and he got his men help him and tie him up until he
got to the cyclops head. He then stuck the sword in the eye of the cyclopes. The
cyclopes then screamed and back up with fear. He then shouted out for the other
cyclops that are in the caves near him some of them came out. They said that if

Reoccurring Feature In 20th Century Fashion
A reoccurring feature in 20th century fashion was how the shape of the female body
looked. Trying to find different, innovative ways of manipulating and displaying the
curvature of the body.
Between 1900 and about 1907 has become an extension of the late 19th century for
fashion. Women were still wearing constraining, tightly laced, whalebone corsets
to exaggerate the shape of the female torso as it was very admirable to have a well
rounded figure. During this period, women s clothes were very feminine with a
high use of soft colours, such as lilacs, typically the designs were very floral. The
dresses covered women from the neck down and were highly decorated with a lot
of jewellery. It was considered very fashionable for blouses to be garnished with lace
or frill trimmings and to have big skirts that trailed ... Show more content on

In the second half of the decade, ladies felt a lot more liberated with more women
going to college and university. As well as the votes for women campaign which
brought more independence. This showed in the clothes that they wore as dresses
became more practical, allowing women to take part in more sports and physical
activities like cycling. The dresses were shortened, still touching the floor but
without the trail, and more pleats were added so that movement was easier.
Although, a lot of men did not like the newer flowing dresses, French designer Paul
Poiret was an exception. Poiret elevated fashion as he was keen to get back to the less
corseted, natural shape of the body through dresses. He was well known for his use
of vibrant, warm colours and combining art in his designs. Losing the corset meant
that clothes were less tight on the waist, as an alternative keeping the high waisted
effect. Another fashion statement of the

Gentrification works to change a space, often the result of an urban revitalization

Canadian life and frequency of colonialism talking residence of old or immigrant

Upton Sinclair s Use Of Biblical Allusions In Literature
Allusions distinctly impacts text in numerous ways. Biblical and historical allusions
are often the most recognizable in literature and each have their own significance.
Allusions are very beneficial in the text because they give new meaning to the text
and how it is represented throughout time; allusions in literature can also show new
interpretations of the other works as well. In The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Sinclair
uses biblical and historical allusions create an embellishment of imagery,
characterization, and the manifestation of government. An emphasis that can be
placed on allusions is in how imagery is portrayed. Bubbly Creek is described as
being constantly in motion, as if huge fish were feeding in it, or great leviathans
disporting themselves in its depths (pg 94). Sinclair used a biblical allusionto
demonstrate imagery using a leviathan, which is an enormous monster first
mentioned in the latter part of the book of Job in The Bible. The leviathan is
enormous and has an indescribable amount of strength and can penetrate a double
layer of armor. The contents of Bubbly Creek have an equivalence of a leviathan,
which shows how much power Bubbly Creek possesses; as well as how nothing
else could ever equate to it in size and its unrestrained moves. Another biblical
allusion that Sinclair uses is the Egyptian plague of flies in the book of Exodus
and with the hot weather descended upon Packingtown a veritable Egyptian
plague of flies; there could be no describing this the houses would be black with
them (pg 104). Sinclair uses this allusion to exemplify how horrid the conditions
were in Packingtown, the plague of flies in The Bible is described as being so
dense in the Pharaoh s palace and the rest of Egypt was covered and ruined by the
flies. The conditions had to have been so horrible and hot, as well as the potential
of rotting meat in Packingtown to bring about so many flies; it was that awful and
disgusting. Historical allusions also leave an impression on literature. Such as the
historical allusion that Sinclair made to the Bessemer Furnace, where they made
billets of steel a domelike building, the size of a big theater (pg 206). The Bessemer
furnace was an invention created 50 years
Dracula Informative Speech
Researching was never usually my strong suit, especially when I had no idea about
what topic to pursue. As I thought about the various events and people I had read
about throughout my life, I didn t have much interest in any of them. Just when I was
about to give up and browse through a list of research topics online, one name flashed
into my mind. Dracula. I had always loved reading and watching the tales of the
fictitious count and I knew the inspiration of the bloodthirsty Dracula was a
Romanian prince named Vlad. However, the legend behind Dracula has always been
shrouded in mystery. That is why I would like to know, Who was the real Count

His family s sobriquet, or nickname, Dracul, originated from his father Vlad II s
induction into The Order of the Dragon, which was created by the Holy Roman
Emperor Sigismund to uphold Christianity in Europe and defend against the
Ottoman Empire. Dracul translates to son of the dragon and was also thought to
have meant son of the devil. In 1436, Vlad and his family moved to Targoviste,
Wallachia when Vlad II assumed leadership of the Wallachian voivode, or
principality. Things were rather peaceful until 1442 when Vlad III and his
younger brother Radu were taken to the court of Ottoman Emperor Murad II. The
boys were used as collateral to assure that their father, in a complete reversal of his
previous standing and beliefs, would support Ottoman policies without any
resistance. Vlad had been kept in captivity for six years, refusing to become loyal
to the Ottoman Empire and their beliefs. His brother Radu had capitulated, or
surrendered, to the Ottomans a few years before and was now free from their
captivity, and following exactly what his brother refused to the years he had
remained in captivity. It is uncertain whether he escaped his prison or was merely
released by the Ottomans. When Vlad returned to his home in 1448, he received the
news that his father and elder brother had been assassinated by Wallachian boyars, or
nobles, a year before his freedom. Vlad then embarked to regain

The Florida Keys celebrates a diverse and colorful history that is full of
adventurous tales of Native American Indians, Spanish, pirates, hurricanes, and
shipwrecks. Offering the only living coral barrier reef in the U.S, this island
archipelago lies along the Florida Strait stretching 200 miles from Biscayrie Bay to
the Dry Tortugas. Before Spaniard Ponce De Leon s expedition in 1573, the Florida

named these islands Los Martires (the martyrs) and rightfully so, since many ships
were wrecked on the reef during early times. However, the name was once again

Essay about The Appearance of Youth in the 1960 s
Fashion in the Sixties
Throughout time the United States has changed, whether it is hairstyles, clothing
styles or all around consciousness, the people of this fantastic era represent the
patriotic lifestyle of the 1960 s. The appearance of the youth in the 1960 s was
different than that of any era that came before, and many of the styles that originated
then are still seen today, thirty years later. As one takes a look back upon the sixties
one must remember that, unlike today, it was imbedded in a society of war,
assassination, and political mutiny.
All of the drastic change in fashion of the sixties came from the youth. They began
to disregard old ways and develop their own new ways of dressing as well as
thinking. Teenagers were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This caused a larger gap between generations than usual. Jeans were considered
regular uniform for the youth. Actually in 1966 Levis sold $152 million in jeans,
doubling 1963 s figures. Bell bottom jeans were some of the more popular jeans.
Another thing the sixties brought to the male s wardrobe were earrings. Although not
extremely popular until later, the sixties erected the beginning of the male earring
fashion statement. Formal attire in this time was very popular. Although the top hats
from the fifties had vanished, suits were still worn accompanied by a small tie know
as the Mr. John Tie . In the church s of the sixties casual attire was not and option.
The fashion revolution had begun and the men of the 1960s never looked so good.
The women of the sixties were dressed to kill so to speak. The mini skirt was first
introduced in 1964. There were several new fashion trends in the female end as
well as the male end of course. Most women would wear their hair long and
straight. This was a problem for girls with curly hair so toiletries were introduced
to straighten hair. In fact in the sixties the United States saw a large outbreak of
teenagers consuming toiletries. In 1964 teenage women made up for 11% of the
female population of the United States, however they accounted for 23% of total
sales for toiletries and cosmetics. Jeans were seen to be very popular during this era
for women also. They would sport hip huggers , or jeans that fit tightly

Fatah Conflict Essay
Hamas Fatah Conflict: The conflict between Hamas and Fatah lasted for four
years despite of several attempts by the two groups to put their differences aside.
In addition to being known as the struggle for Palestine, the Hamas vs. Fatah rift
led to various concerns on the possibility of having a Palestinian civil war. This is
primarily because it was a major struggle that was described as the biggest internal
disagreement in Palestinian history. The conflict between Hamas and Fatah is a rift
between Islamism and nationalism respectively. Moreover, this rift is also a
struggle between two organizations that want the benefits of leadership i.e. power,
money, and prestige (Rubin, 2006). The struggle started after Hamas won majority
of the seats in the January 2006 democratic elections and revolved around the
control of Palestinian territories. However, this struggle became intensely personal
after Israel s 22 day war of Gaza. Palestine conducted elections in three stages i.e.
municipal, parliamentary, and presidential elections in late 2005 and early 2006.
Through candidates that were vying as either independent or on behalf of Hamas, the
group won all municipal seats in the entire West Bank and Gaza (Zalman, n.d.). As a
major surprise to the whole world, Hamas obtained the right to form the government
after winning 76 of 132 parliamentary seats. In response to Hamas surprise victory,
there was anxiety among Israel and American leaders. Consequently, Israel declined to

In the sixteenth and seventeenth century, men and women had designated roles.
Men were the head of their households while women were given the domestic
duties such as the taking care of the home and raising the children. This type of
social order was translated into society as well. Men were the ones who held
positions of power and made the rules that women were expected to follow. Men
justified their dominating attitude towards women by pointing towards certain
passages in the Bible. Biblical texts during this time period were interpreted quite
literally and at times out of context. But it was enough leverage for men to use
against women, in order to keep women in their proper designated positions. Women

According to Merry E. Wiesner, the author of Women and Gender in Early Modern
Europe Witch hunting was thus not simply women hunting, but the tracking down
of a certain type of woman (Wiesner 277). Elizabeth was an old, lonely, easily
aggravated, suspicious, odd, and unnecessarily vocal woman. All those
characteristics in addition to a few others were supposedly the characteristics that a
witch had. If a person was suspected or actually embodied having one or more of
these qualities, it was enough evidence for a person to be accused of witchcraft. As a
result, this would cause the alleged person to be brought to court. The innocent
feared going to court during this time even more so or equally than those who were
actually guilty, because once brought to court, claiming innocence fell onto deaf ears.
In the eyes of the witnesses and the court, a witch was deemed guilty until they were
somehow proven to be innocent. People who were actually considered completely
innocent were infrequent outcomes. Sawyer was fully aware of this unlawful trend,
but as stated in Goodcole s pamphlet, she decided to do the almost impossible and
proue her innocency, she put her selfe to the triall of God and the Countrey
(Goodcole). Elizabeth did not cower from the accusations but rather she directly
confronted them in front of condemning witnesses and other personnel who were
present in the courtroom. Sawyer

4.1Organization level
The most serious mistake is the leader did not realize the change of the economic
and political environment. Before setting up Autumn Leaves Aged Care Inc., Ced
was very confident that the strategy will not fail because his sale pitch is based on
three premises. The premises is persuasive, it shows the number of baby boomer
will provide a profitable market and the tax concessions policy will reduce the cost.
But Ced did not notice the informations are changing, the information maybe totally
different after he anticipated the market and made project. In 2007, the aged care
company began to operating and at the same time the cost of labor and building were
skyrocket. In 2008, due to the global financial crisis, government reduced the tax
concession and banks reluctant to lend. Thus Ced might use the outdated information
to execute a plan, he do not follow the change of time to update information and
make new forecast with times. On the other hand, Ced did not make a meticulous
research on industry structure. The supplier power, buyer power and rivalry among
the same industry were not considered, the emergency strategy was not planed. These

say that of course I had the characteristics to be a successful online student; how
hard could it be? But, ironically, during the same week that I first read Taormino s

Fortunately neither of us were seriously hurt, but because my wife already suffers
from a chronic autoimmune disease, even her minor injuries were enough to throw
her into a painful exacerbation. What does this have to do with my online education?
Well, everything, to be honest. All of the time I normally had set aside for my

my wife usually takes care of). It s astonishing how quickly time gets away from us! I

Reforms in the Economic Espionage Act (EEA) of 1996
There are two important major reforms that the U.S. established, the Economic
Espionage Act (EEA) of 1996 and the Theft of Trade Secrets Act of 2012. The U.S.
established the EEA of 1996 to protect companies with industrial espionage, theft of
trade secrets, fraud, transfer of custody, and penalties on offenses(ECONOMIC
ESPIONAGE ACT OF 1996). The EEA of 1996 is an act that makes theft or
misappropriation of trade secretsa federal crime (LaMance). Activities that are
punishable under the EEA of 1996 if the person:
steals, or without authorization takes, carries away, or by deception obtains a trade
secret without authorization copies, downloads, uploads, alters, destroys,
transmits, or conveys a trade secret, receives, buys, or possesses a trade secret,
knowing that the trade secret has been stolen or obtained wrongfully attempts to
do any of the aforementioned activities , attempts to commit economic espionage
are punishable under the same penalties. The EEA is particularly severe with
people or corporations who steal trade secrets in order to benefit foreign countries or
foreign agents (LaMance). Penalties under the EEA of 1996 if a person is found
guilty can be fined up to $500 thousand and serve 10 years in jail. A company can be
fined up to five million but if it serves to benefit, a foreign country or a foreign agent
fines are up to $10 million and up to 15 years in jail.

The Little Albert experiment was a psychological experiment conducted by John B.
Watson and Rosalie Rayner. This experiment was inspired by Ivan Pavlov s
experiment Pavlov s dog which studied the conditioning process in dogs. The Little
Albert experiment was created to bring Pavlov s research further to show how
emotional reactions could be classically conditioned in people. In the experiment,
Little Albert was presented with various animals including a rabbit, a monkey, and a
white rat as well as other stimuli such as masks and burning newspapers. Initially,
Albert showed no fear to any of the stimulus. However, the next time Albert was
presented the white rat Watson made a loud noise by hitting a metal pipe with a

Little Albert didn t nor did his mother give permission to participate in this study.
Albert was not of legal age to provide consent for himself and his mother was
unaware of the study. They were also not explained withdrawal rights. The
experimenter took advantage of Albert being unable to communicate permission or
withdrawal rights, he would not have had the physical nor mental capacities to
withdraw himself from the study. Watson may not have asked for consent from
the mother because he knew there was a chance she wouldn t give permission and
the study couldn t be conducted. Watson couldn t ask for permission or explain
withdrawal rights to Albert because he was an infant who could not understand or
speak with Watson. To do this experiment again and follow this ethical
consideration the experimenter should ask for permission from the child s mother
as well as explain withdrawal rights. The mother should also be observing the
experiment and be able to withdraw her child whenever she wanted to. An older
child who can talk could be selected to be tested on so they can give their consent
and be able to withdraw themselves. Little Albert and his mother weren t informed of
the purpose of this study. Albert was too young to speak and understand English and
so explaining the purpose would be pointless. The purpose of the study wasn t
explained to the mother because she was unaware the experiment was taking place. If

Tax Cuts And Jobs Act Research Paper
With a new president, usually comes a new tax plan. Trump is no different. The
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act is a 429 page page tax bill, which has been passed by the
House of Representatives. The Senate is still debating their plan. Under Trump s
plan, he is declaring tax cuts both for individuals as well as companies. While the
plans continue to be debated and finalized, it is important to follow the news to
know how it will affect you. The largest and most talked about point among
Americans is the tax bracket changes. This is what many relate to the tax savings.
The House of Representatives have agreed to the plan that would decrease the
number of tax brackets from seven to four. The rates would include 12, 25, 35, and
39.6 percent. Those who... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

earn between 260,001 dollars to 1,000,000 dollars. Under the current tax brackets,

interesting because those who earn between 470.700 dollars to 1,000,00 who
would usually pay 39.6% only have to pay 35%. The final tax bracket is the
39.6%. If single, you would fall under this bracket if you earned 500,001 or more
under the new plan. Before, you would only had to have earned 418,401 dollars or
more. If filing jointly, under the new plan those who aren 1,000,001 dollars or
more would be taxed at 39.6%. Currently, anyone who made 470,701 dollars or
more would be taxed at this rate. As you can see this is beneficial for the higher
earning Americans. It puts less people in this high tax bracket. While this is Trump
s plan and has been approved by the House, the Senate issued their own plan. They
want to keep the same seven tax brackets, but lower some of the rates. While Trump
hopes to have a plan on his desk before Christmas, I believe it will be an uphill battle
to get the Senate to agree to only four brackets. While this is where many have their
focus, Trump plans to change many other aspects. Both the House and Senate plan to
eliminate the itemize deductions except charitable contributions, mortgage interest,

To visit or not to visit? This is the question many people ask themselves when trying

Josephine Baker Biography
During the times of of the Post Romantic Era, ballet generalized sexes by casting
according to gender, sexualized the women body by enforcing male dominance in the
choreography and storytelling, and idolized the ballerina as being unattainable,
exotic, and dependent on others. When modernity arose, the practice of
individualism, community, and independency took place in artist and choreographers
in modern dance. Artists like Ruth St Denis and Josephine Baker challenged the
norms of the Post Romantic Era by creating a name for themselves through their
unique style, personal stories, and rebelling against the norms of society;

She took the modernity era and made the most of it for herself and her career. As
an artist, singer, dancer, and mother Baker is known as the Figure of Modernity .
She moved from the United States to France to start her career wearing revealing,
sparkling, dazzling costumes, with loads of makeup, and had a voice that wanted
to be heard. In one of her famous moments, she sings Haiti in the movie ZOU ZOU
in 1934. In this piece, she is portrayed as an exotic caged bird singing away and
wearing very limited clothing. Her amazing vocal chords sing about her desires
for love and her urges she feels. With this never being appropriate to the public,
Josephine Baker was shunned by some, like the Talented Tenth, but mostly adored
by all others. With her corky, dorky faces and outrageous performances, she really
caught the attention of audiences in Europe craving more and more of her. Baker
s self propelled success was based on the timely manner it occurred in. With the
rise of modernity, individuality, women, and modern dance, Baker was able to
become a star in the arts. Another reason she became a legend so quickly was her
ability to make people smile, laugh, and be excited about her differences; like
hairstyles, outfits, performances. In a documentary on Baker, Jean Claude Baker,
one of her adopted sons, states, Josephine Baker became the embodiment, the
personification of the funny, madness, rebellion after the war (Josephine Baker:
1926 Banana Skirt). Her practices of sexuality on stage really drew in the male
audiences, as well as the females who desired to be like her. Modern dance gave
Josephine Baker a voice on and off the stage, provided the timing and location of her
debut after the war.
Not only did modernity and modern dance provide the means to express personal
opinions and desires, it also allowed politics and dance to merge and work together.

Executive Branch Essay
The comparison of a state with great plains and a state with mighty mountains seems
unimaginable but very possible, at least on governmental standpoint. The great state
of Illinois and one of the original state, North Carolina, have set up a state
government very similar to the federal government and similar to each other. Their
comparisons and contrasts are most noticeable in the legislative and executive
branches.
There are three main parts of an executive branch; The president, the vice president,
and the cabinet. The president is the head of the U.S. executive branch, but in state
executive branches the governor is the head honcho. Every State in America has a

legislative branch typically is a bicameral system. The only exception to this is the
state of Nebraska which only has a senate and not a house of representatives. The
legislative power of the state of Illinois is vested in the General Assembly, which is
composed of a 59 member Senate and a 118 member House of Representatives. North
Carolina s Senate has 50 members and their House of Representatives has 120
members. After those blaring differences Illinois and North Carolina s Legislature
branches are quite similar. Their regular activities are enacting, amending or repealing
laws, passing resolutions, adopting appropriation bills and conducting inquiries on
proposed legislation. Both states legislation acts on amendments to the U.S.
Constitution when they are submitted by Congress, and proposes and submits
amendments to the Illinois Constitution for consideration by voter. During the
scenario of an impeachment, both states House of Representatives has the sole power
of impeachment, while the Senate serves as adjudicator. If a majority of the members
of the House vote to impeach, the case proceeds to the Senate for trial. The Senate
cannot impose any punishment on an impeached and convicted office holder other
than removal from office. These two states show multiple similarities in the
legislative branch and very few differences.
As anyone can tell the two great states of Illinois and North Carolina have many
similarities and differences in their legislative and executive branches of state
government. Overall, one thing is sure these two states contribute the magnificents of

I intend on finding out the respondent s age, whether they suffer from depression

It s also not easy to have an accurate quota frame because of the unavailability on
current information. You could divide the population in groups but this means
extending sampling requirements and bringing in more groups. This would cost
money as well take time when the current method itself takes a lot of time. There
were some problems while collecting the data as some people that were interviewed
didn t even suffer from either anxiety or depression which meant that a lot of time
was wasted. There were also some people that started to lose interest halfway
through the interview meaning that their answers became short and less detailed
which didn t help at all. At one point there was someone that didn t really speak
English which meant there was a language barrier so a translator was brought in
but this held up the process as we didn t know beforehand. Secondary Data
Collection I collected secondary data off google because it s easy and free as well
as time and cost effective and I also wanted to find out about the population and the
side effects of anti depression medication. Another site used was ONS they regularly
update the information so it s accurate. Conclusion Despite some problems with the
data collection, it was still comprehensive enough to use for the HML anti depression
product. The aim for selecting certain methods of data collection i.e. secondary data

Place the toasted roll bottoms on a plate. Next place one of the burgers of
perfection on the roll, place the cheese on top of the burger. This guarantees that
the cheese will melt slightly to the burger. Now add the bacon, two or three slices
is enough, because you do not want to overpower the burger with bacon flavor.
Now add the veggies, lettuce first, not too much, however you do not want to eat a
salad on a bun. Add two slices of tomato, two slices of onion, sprinkle with salt and
pepper, and add some ketchup, and mustard. Repeat each step of assembly four
times, enough burgers to enjoy with friends. Now grab a few cold ones, a few
chips, maybe even a pickle or two. Yes, it is time to relax and enjoy your beautiful
creation, as well as the football game. It is a difficult thing to do, making the perfect
cheeseburger, but through trial and error, you will achieve success eventually. With
skill and determination, you too will become a cheeseburger of perfection
Latina Women In American Films
Latina women have had roles in films since the silence era in the 1920s. However,
their representation and characteristics have constantly changed. Latina actresses
originally portrayed characters that simply fulfilled general and negative stereotypes
about their ethnicity and culture. But during the Latin Wave of the 1990s, Latina/o
performers musicians, actors/actresses, dancers, etc. received more prominent
attention in American culture. Due to this newfound popularity, the status of the
Latin American woman evolved in the United Statesand Latina actress got to play
more fulfilling parts. In contemporary American films where a Latina woman is the

Even though Latino/a actors and actresses have had increased participation in films
over the decades, majority of the films they were in devalued their culture. Italian
actor Rudolph Valentino was one of the first known Latin Lovers, which was a
stereotype that all Latinos were incredibly passionate and great in bed. Another film
stereotype were Latino/a s portraying bad guys/thugs, which was to insinuate that
Latinos were cholos (a lower class Latin American who is in a gang) and could not
be civilized. Such films that portrayed Latinos as such were the 1979 film
Boulevard Nights, which is about a neighborhood gang war, and the 1988 film Stand
and Deliver, which is about a high school calculus teacher who tries to get the Latino
students who are prone to dropout to do their homework. Stereotypes involving
Latina women were that they were either very sexual, the silent maid, or had a spicy

different aspects of Latino/a culture and people in films. The 1990s witnessed as a

and promoting a handful of African American and Latina/o actors and potential stars.

Pixar s WALL-E
PIXAR S WALL E is a beloved children s movie that illustrates the apocalyptic look
of the fall of civilization. Earth s atmosphere has been robbed of its bright blue sky

the abandon streets of cities. As humans are forced off Earth, a man made robot

As humans, we must reduce the amount of trash we let loose in our waters and
begin removing what we have already filled them with. For instance, Jocelyn
Kaiser explains how a man by the name of Charles Moore found a patch of garbage
the size of Texas in the Pacific Ocean in 1997 and to this day that patch has
remained there. Also known as the trash vortex this patch consists of bottles,
Styrofoam, tires, fishing line, wrappers, and raw resin (1506). The National
Geographic adds that the vortex is split into two areas. The Western Garbage Patch
is located near Japan and the Eastern Garbage Patch is located in between
California and Hawaii. Currents in the ocean act as a highway due to the mixture
of warm and cold water, which moves the trash from one patch to another making
the water look cloudy (Great). 80% of this trash comes from Asia and North
Americas land and eventually makes its way into the rivers and oceans; the other
20% is from careless boaters (Great). Water pollution affecting marine life Kaiser

Greek Influence On Native American Culture
The Mississippian Culture civilization was quite unique, because the people of this
culture built mounds. These mounds served different purposes, some being used for
burial chambers, and others were built to resemble figures. In these societies, there
were many mounds, not just a single one. Furthermore, these cultures were also
invested in trade endeavors, with the Hopewell even engaging with the Caribbean in
trade. Additionally, these societies were involved in fishing, hunting and agriculture,
especially maize agriculture. Also, these societies were skilled in workmanship,
producing artifacts. Some of the skilled workmanship that these groups did were
pottery, stonework and copper work. Also, in these societies, there were social
structures, and some mounds were used in religious activities, with some serving as
the site for temples. Their religion was based upon things that were seen, such as the

Also, for the mounds in these cities, wood and dirt was used. Unfortunately, the
wood from the surrounding area was sometimes overused, which led to the eventual

served many different purposes, from functioning as burial grounds to the bases of
temples and palaces. Other Native American cultures were not mound builders,
which is a very big difference. Also, the Cahokia people (as mentioned on the video)
did not live in tepees, as typically thought that Native Americans did. The people of
Moundville lived in small houses composed of pole and thatch (according to the

Examples Of Gender Bias In Julius Caesar
In sexism, gender bias has existed throughout history and still exists today. Gender
bias is frequently called sexism or gender discrimination. A study by four researchers,
Kelly Jones, Cay Evans, Ronald Byrd, and Kathleen Campbell, analyzed videotapes
of teachers while they taught the students in the classroom, then they had the teachers
watch themselves on the video while pointing out the genderbiased attitudes,
languages and behavior; most teachers were surprised to see how they gave their

the classroom (A World of Gender Bias, 2015). Researchers recommended methods

Sexism puts a barrier on what society views as acceptable for a man and woman to
do. It also may be true that men and women are not necessarily equal physically.
Men are scientifically proven are stronger than women physically in terms of muscles
and athletic ability. Men are physically stronger than women, who have, on the
average, less total muscle mass, to the total body mass and men also have denser,
stronger bones, tendons and ligaments (Burton, 2012). Men tend to be larger than
women in size which makes them tend to carry out more muscles and more muscles
normally points toward having more strength than women. But on the other hand,
people should approach fairness and not equality because sexism has negative
impacts on the people which causes them to commit suicide. In Antigone, Antigone
was a strong, courageous and an independent person and there was no definite
evidence that Antigone was strong and brave person but based on what the readers
gather from the play Antigone seems psychologically capable of the things that she
did more than the other characters. The leading cause of death of women ages 15 to
19 worldwide is suicide and the most expected reason is sexism and gender
discrimination (Valenti, 2015). In Antigone, Antigone buries her brother because she
believes what she is doing is right so she does it but gets punished because she did

While Clone Wars focused on physical and character development, while also

The Effect Of Political Changes On Egyptian Economy
Abstract
This research aims at studying the effect of political changes on Egyptian economy
by studying the direct and indirect effect of political risk index and its sub indicators
on number of important variables such as economic growth, employment, exchange
rates, Egyptian Exchange main index (EGX30), foreign investment flows, domestic
interest rates, and domestic public debt during the time period from 2006 to 2015
using parametric and nonparametric statistical methods. The study concluded that
political risk index and its sub indicators have had varying effects on financial and
real investment and other macroeconomic variables in Egypt; and that achieving a
successful economic development process cannot be reachedwithouttaking into

Investment decision, by itself, is not a complicated one, as once we manage to
consider all aspects of costs associated with the investment decision and to estimate
its expected returns, there will be no difficulty to make a proper decision regarding
the proposed investment. The main problem in making any investment decision is
the ability to consider all aspects of costs that the investment will expose to.
Investment costs can be divided into tangible and intangible costs. Where tangible
costs classified as constructional and operational costs; intangible costs include

With the outbreak of World War Iin August 1914, the industries of the United States
quickly went into high gear to produce the war materials and other goods needed by
the warring powers. Because of its strategic location and vast shipping facilities,
New York Harbor became the main port for transporting those materials overseas. On
any given workday the harbor was a beehive of activity, with ships coming and going;
with tugs, barges, lighters and other harbor craft scurrying between the ships and the
numerous piers lining the New York and New Jersey waterfronts; and with the
constant traffic from the interior of loaded trains carrying the commodities that fed
the frenzy. One of the most important and most dangerous of these commodities was

coexistence between munitions and populace was shattered early on July 30, 1916.
The weather had been unseasonably cool when the residents of New York Cityand
the surrounding area went to bed the preceding Saturday. In the early hours of Sunday

Comparing The Gospel Of Mark And Matthew
In regard to teaching style, the extent to which Jesus teaches by authority varies in
the Gospel of Mark and Matthew. Jesus teaching style in Matthew is overall more
authoritative. Both Mark and Matthew tell that Jesus taught as one having authority,
and not as their scribes (Matthew 7: 28 29, Mark 1: 22). In the Gospel of Matthew,
the authoritative phrase But I say to you appears 12 times in the Sermon on the
Mount. However, such a repetitive and declarative phrase is not commonly seen in
Mark.
Other than the extent to which Jesus taught by authority, a common feature of Jesus
teaching style in both Mark and Matthew is his use of repetition. In the Gospel of
Mark, Jesus speaks of imminent tortures and resurrection over and over

After much discussion at the corporate level, a thorough review of the alternatives
with
TAP s board of directors, and gaining preliminary agreement from union leaders, we
ve made the difficult decision to shut down the product lines and customer divisions
that cater to these low performing segments and focus only on luxury and economy
car makers. Most of the plants affected will be in the U.S., leaving the majority of the
facilities in Europe and Asia intact
(see Exhibits 6a and 6b). We have not made this decision lightly, but we feel it is
the only way we can save TAP. On the positive side, I believe we can grow our top
line by selling more products to our customers in profitable segments and win over
new customers in new markets, primarily in Asia.

Cultural Assimilation And The American Culture
For immigrants in America, two radically different choices of culture exist. First, the
immigrants can choose to stay loyal to their ancestral roots and deny mainstream
culture. Instead of contributing to the melting pot of opinions present they isolate
within themselves by refusing to learn both the English language and American
cultureas a whole. Because they cannot communicate with a majority of the
population, they don t maintain any amount of control over American ideals
including both politically and socially. The second opportunity available would be to
embrace this new found culture, no matter how foreign it is to them, and develop a
sense of unity with America. If immigrants wish to break the currently controlled
system of power and privilege in America and truly become a part of American
customs, they must learn to assimilate culturally. Cultural assimilationis the process
by which a foreign party becomes engulfed in and a part of a host nations culture.
Throughout America s history a pattern exists of immigrants coming to the land of
the free and becoming an essential part of our culture. At first America was primarily
populated by English immigrants who refused to obey the rule of Englands crown
authority. Soon after, immigrants began pouring into the country in the form of other
Europeans including the German and the Irish. One look at much of the architecture
in older areas of America shows just how much influence immigrants had on our early
country. One
Hunchback Of Notre Dame Film Analysis
When one examines a work of art, context often casts the work in a radically
different light. Art does not exist in a vacuum, and nearly every work of art is
influenced both by its surrounding environment, and comments or critiques upon that
environment. Since its inception, film has been a widely accessible venue for these
critiques and often serve as time capsules of what people from a certain time and
place thought about the world. Not only that, but film also marks different shifts in
political and social attitudes that shape the course of history. But how are these
attitudes communicated to the audience, and how did the filmmakers come to
believe them? By examining several great Hollywood films over a span of three
decades, the answer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ultimately, Hunchback was a film that empowered the supporters of progress, and
foresaw the downfall of those whose prejudice kept the status quo.
A film that incorporated the similar themes of nobles and their mistreatment of the
people was 1937 s The Adventures of Robin Hood. In Robin Hood, the main
antagonist and key ruler, Prince John serves as an antithesis to the ideals of the main
hero and the film itself. He is selfish and unsympathetic to the plight of both the poor
and the Saxons, favoring the wealthy Normans in his court. His damning flaw is the
same as all the other nobles: the exploitation of the plight of the lower classes. This
flaw even extends to the protagonists, since Maid Marian is ignorant about the
persecution of the Saxons until she visits the Merry Men s camp. The key difference,
in this case is the choice that the characters make as to whether or not they will be
complacent and keep the status quo. All of the good guys in Robin Hood show
open defiance towards Prince John s regime, and value courage to stand up for
those who are weaker. The cinematography reflects this with many brightly lit, low
angle shots of Robin Hood, emphasizing his bravado and saintliness, as well as the
scene of the Merry Men ambushing Guy s caravan from a literal and moral high
ground. By contrast, Prince John is cowardly and sneaky; never getting his hands dirty
The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
Dr. Shiraldi states in his book, The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook
Second Edition: A Guide to Healing, Recovery, and Growth, that PTSD is a normal
response by normal people to abnormal situation (2009). The Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM III) recognized Post traumatic stress
disorder (PTSD) as a mental disorder in 1980 (American Psychiatric Association,
2013). It is a long term reaction to exposure to severe traumatic events in an
individual s life. These exposures might include rape, war, abuse, natural disaster
or other extreme stressors. Man made, intentional causes are usually the most
complex situations to recover from, with those caused by nature being the least
emotionally impacting long term. In the 4th edition of the Diagnostic and
Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV) it gives certain criteria to be met
in order for someone to be diagnosed with PTSD. For instance, an individual must
have had an experience to where their own or another person s well being was in
jeopardy. Also, the individual must have had a response of feelings of intense fear,
helplessness or horror (1994). Losing their grip on reality they may not be able to
separate the real from unreal and they might develop dissociate amnesia. Re
experiencing and hyperarousal are further criterions according to the DSM. All of
these symptoms may lead to a negative impact on the individual s life. War related
and related trauma disorders were first
Female And Female Gender Roles
Literature throughout history has displayed to us the evolution of the male and
female gender roles in society. Women have been described as the angel in the
house, whilst men are typified as dominant and prevailing in comparison to women.
The gothic genre in literature is used to personify and exaggerate these stereotypes,
by using gothic motifs such as dream sequences and themes such as horror and
terror. Not only does the gothic exaggerate the stereotypes, but it also allows them to
be contravened, due to the transgressive nature of the genre. The psychoanalytical
aspect of this genre, allows for repressed desires to be made eminent and therefore
characters can transgress and in the process, cross their contemporary gender
boundaries. Keats uses the gothic device of Negative capability in order to conceal
the transgression of the females in his poetry, Carter revised gothic fairytales in
order to display them from a feminist approach and Stoker uses gothic themes, set
against the backdrop of the fluidity of Fin de siГЁcle period, to allow characters to
stray from their gender stereotypes.
Victorian women were supposed to be both selflessly devoted, to their children and
submissive, to their husbands, according to Coventry Patmore. However due to the
trepidation of sexual mayhem that arose during the nineteenth century, society
retaliated by recoiling from the idea of a woman having any sexual emancipation.
This response was typical of the Fin de SiГЁcle period and

Moreover, conveying these experiences in a coherent and impactful manner requires skillful writing and storytelling abilities. Furthermore, discussing leadership can be a nuanced task. It necessitates analyzing successes and failures alike, and drawing meaningful insights from them. Crafting an engaging essay on leadership experience also involves understanding the audience and tailoring the narrative to resonate with them. Whether it's an academic assignment, a job application, or a personal statement, the tone, style, and emphasis may vary, adding another layer of complexity to the writing process. • 3. Reoccurring Feature In 20th Century Fashion A reoccurring feature in 20th century fashion was how the shape of the female body looked. Trying to find different, innovative ways of manipulating and displaying the curvature of the body. Between 1900 and about 1907 has become an extension of the late 19th century for fashion. Women were still wearing constraining, tightly laced, whalebone corsets to exaggerate the shape of the female torso as it was very admirable to have a well rounded figure. During this period, women s clothes were very feminine with a high use of soft colours, such as lilacs, typically the designs were very floral. The dresses covered women from the neck down and were highly decorated with a lot of jewellery. It was considered very fashionable for blouses to be garnished with lace or frill trimmings and to have big skirts that trailed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the second half of the decade, ladies felt a lot more liberated with more women going to college and university. As well as the votes for women campaign which brought more independence. This showed in the clothes that they wore as dresses became more practical, allowing women to take part in more sports and physical activities like cycling. The dresses were shortened, still touching the floor but without the trail, and more pleats were added so that movement was easier. Although, a lot of men did not like the newer flowing dresses, French designer Paul Poiret was an exception. Poiret elevated fashion as he was keen to get back to the less corseted, natural shape of the body through dresses. He was well known for his use of vibrant, warm colours and combining art in his designs. Losing the corset meant that clothes were less tight on the waist, as an alternative keeping the high waisted effect. Another fashion statement of the

  • 5. Upton Sinclair s Use Of Biblical Allusions In Literature Allusions distinctly impacts text in numerous ways. Biblical and historical allusions are often the most recognizable in literature and each have their own significance. Allusions are very beneficial in the text because they give new meaning to the text and how it is represented throughout time; allusions in literature can also show new interpretations of the other works as well. In The Jungle, by Upton Sinclair, Sinclair uses biblical and historical allusions create an embellishment of imagery, characterization, and the manifestation of government. An emphasis that can be placed on allusions is in how imagery is portrayed. Bubbly Creek is described as being constantly in motion, as if huge fish were feeding in it, or great leviathans disporting themselves in its depths (pg 94). Sinclair used a biblical allusionto demonstrate imagery using a leviathan, which is an enormous monster first mentioned in the latter part of the book of Job in The Bible. The leviathan is enormous and has an indescribable amount of strength and can penetrate a double layer of armor. The contents of Bubbly Creek have an equivalence of a leviathan, which shows how much power Bubbly Creek possesses; as well as how nothing else could ever equate to it in size and its unrestrained moves. Another biblical allusion that Sinclair uses is the Egyptian plague of flies in the book of Exodus and with the hot weather descended upon Packingtown a veritable Egyptian plague of flies; there could be no describing this the houses would be black with them (pg 104). Sinclair uses this allusion to exemplify how horrid the conditions were in Packingtown, the plague of flies in The Bible is described as being so dense in the Pharaoh s palace and the rest of Egypt was covered and ruined by the flies. The conditions had to have been so horrible and hot, as well as the potential of rotting meat in Packingtown to bring about so many flies; it was that awful and disgusting. Historical allusions also leave an impression on literature. Such as the historical allusion that Sinclair made to the Bessemer Furnace, where they made billets of steel a domelike building, the size of a big theater (pg 206). The Bessemer furnace was an invention created 50 years

His family s sobriquet, or nickname, Dracul, originated from his father Vlad II s induction into The Order of the Dragon, which was created by the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund to uphold Christianity in Europe and defend against the Ottoman Empire. Dracul translates to son of the dragon and was also thought to have meant son of the devil. In 1436, Vlad and his family moved to Targoviste, Wallachia when Vlad II assumed leadership of the Wallachian voivode, or principality. Things were rather peaceful until 1442 when Vlad III and his younger brother Radu were taken to the court of Ottoman Emperor Murad II. The boys were used as collateral to assure that their father, in a complete reversal of his previous standing and beliefs, would support Ottoman policies without any resistance. Vlad had been kept in captivity for six years, refusing to become loyal to the Ottoman Empire and their beliefs. His brother Radu had capitulated, or surrendered, to the Ottomans a few years before and was now free from their captivity, and following exactly what his brother refused to the years he had remained in captivity. It is uncertain whether he escaped his prison or was merely released by the Ottomans. When Vlad returned to his home in 1448, he received the news that his father and elder brother had been assassinated by Wallachian boyars, or nobles, a year before his freedom. Vlad then embarked to regain

Men were the head of their households while women were given the domestic duties such as the taking care of the home and raising the children. Wiesner, the author of Women and Gender in Early Modern Europe Witch hunting was thus not simply women hunting, but the tracking down of a certain type of woman (Wiesner 277). Elizabeth was an old, lonely, easily aggravated, suspicious, odd, and unnecessarily vocal woman. All those characteristics in addition to a few others were supposedly the characteristics that a witch had. If a person was suspected or actually embodied having one or more of these qualities, it was enough evidence for a person to be accused of witchcraft. As a result, this would cause the alleged person to be brought to court. The innocent feared going to court during this time even more so or equally than those who were actually guilty, because once brought to court, claiming innocence fell onto deaf ears. In the eyes of the witnesses and the court, a witch was deemed guilty until they were somehow proven to be innocent. People who were actually considered completely innocent were infrequent outcomes. Sawyer was fully aware of this unlawful trend, but as stated in Goodcole s pamphlet, she decided to do the almost impossible and proue her innocency, she put her selfe to the triall of God and the Countrey (Goodcole). Elizabeth did not cower from the accusations but rather she directly confronted them in front of condemning witnesses and other personnel who were present in the courtroom. Sawyer

Taken directly from God s Word, I was reminded by my Professor this week of one of my favorite verses from the book of Isaiah. Interestingly enough, before I began my venture into higher education, I was scared: scared of failure, scared of the commitment it would require, and even scared of the possibility that I just might not be cut out for the task ahead. This verse, Isaiah 41:10, along with several other Scriptures, helped to assure me that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Just as 1 Corinthians 13:11 reminds us, When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things, even my style of learning has changed. Until this semester, I would say that of course I had the characteristics to be a successful online student; how hard could it be? But, ironically, during the same week that I first read Taormino s article, I began to fall behind in my classes. As I write this paper, I m juggling extra duties at home while my wife and I both recover from a nasty car accident. Fortunately neither of us were seriously hurt, but because my wife already suffers from a chronic autoimmune disease, even her minor injuries were enough to throw her into a painful exacerbation. What does this have to do with my online education? Well, everything, to be honest. All of the time I normally had set aside for my coursework must now be devoted to the daily management of our home (things that my wife usually takes care of). It s astonishing how quickly time gets away from us! I ve learned through this series of unfortunate events that I must take control of my time, rather than allowing it to take control of me. As Taormino asserts, Students need to plan their time accordingly to have sufficient opportunity to complete assignments and work iteratively based on feedback. Without time

Reforms in the Economic Espionage Act (EEA) of 1996 There are two important major reforms that the U.S. established, the Economic Espionage Act (EEA) of 1996 and the Theft of Trade Secrets Act of 2012. The U.S. established the EEA of 1996 to protect companies with industrial espionage, theft of trade secrets, fraud, transfer of custody, and penalties on offenses(ECONOMIC ESPIONAGE ACT OF 1996). The EEA of 1996 is an act that makes theft or misappropriation of trade secretsa federal crime (LaMance). Activities that are punishable under the EEA of 1996 if the person: steals, or without authorization takes, carries away, or by deception obtains a trade secret without authorization copies, downloads, uploads, alters, destroys, transmits, or conveys a trade secret, receives, buys, or possesses a trade secret, knowing that the trade secret has been stolen or obtained wrongfully attempts to do any of the aforementioned activities , attempts to commit economic espionage are punishable under the same penalties. The EEA is particularly severe with people or corporations who steal trade secrets in order to benefit foreign countries or foreign agents (LaMance). Penalties under the EEA of 1996 if a person is found guilty can be fined up to $500 thousand and serve 10 years in jail. If single, you would fall under this bracket if you earned 500,001 or more under the new plan. Before, you would only had to have earned 418,401 dollars or more. As you can see this is beneficial for the higher earning Americans. It puts less people in this high tax bracket. While this is Trump s plan and has been approved by the House, the Senate issued their own plan. They want to keep the same seven tax brackets, but lower some of the rates. While Trump hopes to have a plan on his desk before Christmas, I believe it will be an uphill battle to get the Senate to agree to only four brackets. However, as the playoffs were set to start we thought that there was a very small chance that both the Celtics and the Cavaliers would face off in a rematch of last years Eastern Conference Finals. That thought was strengthened after the Cavaliers struggled into game 7 against the Pacers. Despite this so called diversity that these two teams have had to experience, here we are with LeBron trying to extend his consecutive NBA Finals appearances to 8, and the Celtics to defy all odds once again and advance to the finals without there star player Irving. This game is a difficult one to predict because the Cavs looked like they have regrouped

New nations were formed including Poland, and Czechoslovakia, which has recently been separated into Slovakia and the Czech Republic. Communism became widespread in Eastern Europe and large amounts of land and resources were gained by Great Britain and France. The war began when Yugoslavian nationalist, Gavrilo Princip assassinated the Archduke of Austria, Franz Ferdinand on June 28, 1914 in Sarajevo, Serbia, after which, Austria Hungary declared war on Serbia. International alliances quickly formed and within weeks most of the world s superpowers were involved and the conflict spread rapidly around the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... With the outbreak of World War Iin August 1914, the industries of the United States quickly went into high gear to produce the war materials and other goods needed by the warring powers. Because of its strategic location and vast shipping facilities, New York Harbor became the main port for transporting those materials overseas. On any given workday the harbor was a beehive of activity, with ships coming and going; with tugs, barges, lighters and other harbor craft scurrying between the ships and the numerous piers lining the New York and New Jersey waterfronts; and with the constant traffic from the interior of loaded trains carrying the commodities that fed the frenzy. One of the most important and most dangerous of these commodities was munitions the gunpowder, explosives, shells and other ammunition and components required by the weapons of war. Although the movement of these volatile goods through the busy and crowded port posed a constant threat to the thousands upon thousands of residents jammed in on either side of the harbor, all remained relatively safe and quiet for the first two years of the war. However, this peaceful coexistence between munitions and populace was shattered early on July 30, 1916. The weather had been unseasonably cool when the residents of New York Cityand the surrounding area went to bed the preceding Saturday. In the early hours of Sunday morning, their
  • 37. Comparing The Gospel Of Mark And Matthew In regard to teaching style, the extent to which Jesus teaches by authority varies in the Gospel of Mark and Matthew. Jesus teaching style in Matthew is overall more authoritative. Both Mark and Matthew tell that Jesus taught as one having authority, and not as their scribes (Matthew 7: 28 29, Mark 1: 22). In the Gospel of Matthew, the authoritative phrase But I say to you appears 12 times in the Sermon on the Mount. However, such a repetitive and declarative phrase is not commonly seen in Mark. Other than the extent to which Jesus taught by authority, a common feature of Jesus teaching style in both Mark and Matthew is his use of repetition. In the Gospel of Mark, Jesus speaks of imminent tortures and resurrection over and over

After much discussion at the corporate level, a thorough review of the alternatives with TAP s board of directors, and gaining preliminary agreement from union leaders, we ve made the difficult decision to shut down the product lines and customer divisions that cater to these low performing segments and focus only on luxury and economy car makers. Most of the plants affected will be in the U.S., leaving the majority of the facilities in Europe and Asia intact (see Exhibits 6a and 6b). We have not made this decision lightly, but we feel it is the only way we can save TAP. On the positive side, I believe we can grow our top line by selling more products to our customers in profitable segments and win over new customers in new markets, primarily in Asia. 2 Efraim Levy, Autos Auto Parts, Standard Poor s Industry Surveys, June 25, 2009, pp. 3 4. 2 This document is authorized for use only in 2015A Management Planning and Control by Lily Liu, University of Technology Sydney from March 2015 to August 2015. • 40. Cultural Assimilation And The American Culture For immigrants in America, two radically different choices of culture exist. First, the immigrants can choose to stay loyal to their ancestral roots and deny mainstream culture. Instead of contributing to the melting pot of opinions present they isolate within themselves by refusing to learn both the English language and American cultureas a whole. Because they cannot communicate with a majority of the population, they don t maintain any amount of control over American ideals including both politically and socially. The second opportunity available would be to embrace this new found culture, no matter how foreign it is to them, and develop a sense of unity with America. If immigrants wish to break the currently controlled system of power and privilege in America and truly become a part of American customs, they must learn to assimilate culturally. Cultural assimilationis the process by which a foreign party becomes engulfed in and a part of a host nations culture. Throughout America s history a pattern exists of immigrants coming to the land of the free and becoming an essential part of our culture. At first America was primarily populated by English immigrants who refused to obey the rule of Englands crown authority. Soon after, immigrants began pouring into the country in the form of other Europeans including the German and the Irish. One look at much of the architecture in older areas of America shows just how much influence immigrants had on our early country. One
  • 41. Hunchback Of Notre Dame Film Analysis When one examines a work of art, context often casts the work in a radically different light. Art does not exist in a vacuum, and nearly every work of art is influenced both by its surrounding environment, and comments or critiques upon that environment. Since its inception, film has been a widely accessible venue for these critiques and often serve as time capsules of what people from a certain time and place thought about the world. Not only that, but film also marks different shifts in political and social attitudes that shape the course of history. But how are these attitudes communicated to the audience, and how did the filmmakers come to believe them? By examining several great Hollywood films over a span of three decades, the answer... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ultimately, Hunchback was a film that empowered the supporters of progress, and foresaw the downfall of those whose prejudice kept the status quo. A film that incorporated the similar themes of nobles and their mistreatment of the people was 1937 s The Adventures of Robin Hood. In Robin Hood, the main antagonist and key ruler, Prince John serves as an antithesis to the ideals of the main hero and the film itself. He is selfish and unsympathetic to the plight of both the poor and the Saxons, favoring the wealthy Normans in his court. His damning flaw is the same as all the other nobles: the exploitation of the plight of the lower classes. This flaw even extends to the protagonists, since Maid Marian is ignorant about the persecution of the Saxons until she visits the Merry Men s camp. The key difference, in this case is the choice that the characters make as to whether or not they will be complacent and keep the status quo. All of the good guys in Robin Hood show open defiance towards Prince John s regime, and value courage to stand up for those who are weaker. The cinematography reflects this with many brightly lit, low angle shots of Robin Hood, emphasizing his bravado and saintliness, as well as the scene of the Merry Men ambushing Guy s caravan from a literal and moral high ground. By contrast, Prince John is cowardly and sneaky; never getting his hands dirty
  • 42. The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Dr. Shiraldi states in his book, The Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Sourcebook Second Edition: A Guide to Healing, Recovery, and Growth, that PTSD is a normal response by normal people to abnormal situation (2009). The Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM III) recognized Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as a mental disorder in 1980 (American Psychiatric Association, 2013). It is a long term reaction to exposure to severe traumatic events in an individual s life. These exposures might include rape, war, abuse, natural disaster or other extreme stressors. Man made, intentional causes are usually the most complex situations to recover from, with those caused by nature being the least emotionally impacting long term. In the 4th edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM IV) it gives certain criteria to be met in order for someone to be diagnosed with PTSD. For instance, an individual must have had an experience to where their own or another person s well being was in jeopardy. Also, the individual must have had a response of feelings of intense fear, helplessness or horror (1994). Losing their grip on reality they may not be able to separate the real from unreal and they might develop dissociate amnesia. Re experiencing and hyperarousal are further criterions according to the DSM. All of these symptoms may lead to a negative impact on the individual s life. War related and related trauma disorders were first
  • 43. Female And Female Gender Roles Literature throughout history has displayed to us the evolution of the male and female gender roles in society. Women have been described as the angel in the house, whilst men are typified as dominant and prevailing in comparison to women. The gothic genre in literature is used to personify and exaggerate these stereotypes, by using gothic motifs such as dream sequences and themes such as horror and terror. Not only does the gothic exaggerate the stereotypes, but it also allows them to be contravened, due to the transgressive nature of the genre. The psychoanalytical aspect of this genre, allows for repressed desires to be made eminent and therefore characters can transgress and in the process, cross their contemporary gender boundaries. Keats uses the gothic device of Negative capability in order to conceal the transgression of the females in his poetry, Carter revised gothic fairytales in order to display them from a feminist approach and Stoker uses gothic themes, set against the backdrop of the fluidity of Fin de siГЁcle period, to allow characters to stray from their gender stereotypes. Victorian women were supposed to be both selflessly devoted, to their children and submissive, to their husbands, according to Coventry Patmore. However due to the trepidation of sexual mayhem that arose during the nineteenth century, society retaliated by recoiling from the idea of a woman having any sexual emancipation. This response was typical of the Fin de SiГЁcle period and
