Essay My Favourite Teacher
Writing an essay about my favorite teacher may seem like a straightforward task at first glance,
but it actually presents a unique challenge. The difficulty lies not in expressing admiration or
respect for a particular educator but in articulating those sentiments in a compelling and original
way.
One might encounter the hurdle of avoiding clichГ©s and generic phrases that fail to capture the
essence of what makes this teacher truly special. Additionally, there's the task of striking a
balance between personal anecdotes and broader reflections on the teacher's impact, ensuring
that the essay resonates with readers beyond just the author's own experience.
Furthermore, attempting to convey the depth of influence a teacher has had on one's life within
the confines of an essay can be daunting. It requires careful consideration of which aspects of the
teacher-student relationship to highlight and how to effectively communicate their significance.
Ultimately, crafting an essay on this topic necessitates introspection, creativity, and the ability to
distill complex emotions and experiences into coherent prose.
In conclusion, writing an essay about my favorite teacher demands more than just recounting
fond memories; it demands a thoughtful exploration of the teacher's influence and the lessons
learned from them.

Literary Nonfiction Analysis
Working Definitions: When I enrolled in Introduction to Journalism and
Nonfiction, I expected to be spending the majority of the time reading primarily
political articles about happenings in the US and analyzing the structure to write
our own. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to find that we studied selections with
a lot more creativity. To me, literary nonfiction is similar to reading a primary
source for a history class, but one that may not necessarily be primarily seeking to
report on facts. One couldn t cite a literary nonfiction piece in a historical analysis
essay, but one could personally increase his or her understanding of an event or
period in time by reading literary nonfiction. It seems that the readings that we ve
done have been true in the sense that they describe real events, such as the Solar
Eclipse... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As one of my first paragraphs, I wrote: Cars permeate my life in the most
unthinkable ways: I go on frequent aimless journeys just for the pleasure of
driving; I hallucinate a rumbling Lamborghini V10 engine as I run, as though the
Lamborghini has swallowed my soul; my computer s desktop image has always
portrayed my favorite car; and friends are put to sleep as I spend hours describing
common rail diesel injection as though I am an alternative to melatonin. In this
paragraph, I tried not to specifically imitate any piece that we had read, but instead
to convey the theme of advanced sensory description that our course readings have
exposed us to. I felt that in this paragraph of my short assignment, I effectively used
description to establish a humorous tone for the rest of the piece in my simile about
melatonin. I also felt that personifying the car as an entity capable of swallow[ing]
my soul brings the reader to a closer understanding of how I react to cars and how I
feel about them; that they are not simply just machines for commuting from
The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson
One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with
students. Engaging in the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and
wondering how they can better enhance their performance. This is often done through
reflecting on past lessons as well as actively seeking appropriate leadership roles and
opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who always understand how
their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their
communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflectionsand
new knowledge to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own
practice, new teachers are always reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues
in order to gain new and innovative information.
My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past
lesson. In the analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the
classroom have impacted my students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel
about engaging with students, it is important that we are constantly wondering how
we can improve our performance in the classroom. Little that happens in the
classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows for teachers and students
alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more meaningful. In
addition to my lesson analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent
reflection. The lesson

police officers pulled a vehicle over for speeding at approximately 3am on 7
August 1999. The police officers found three men in the vehicle. The driver was
Donte Partlow, the front seat passenger and defendant Joseph Pringle, and the
backseat passenger Otis Smith. One of the police officers asked the owner and
driver of the vehicle for his license and registration. When Partlow opened the
glove box, the police officer observed a large amount of money in the glove box.
The police officer checked for outstanding warrants and issued Partlow a warning.
Then the officer asked for permission to search his vehicle. Upon searching the
vehicle the police officer found the money he had seen earlier as well as five
baggies of cocaine in between the armrest and back seat. All three occupants in the
vehicle were questioned and denied any knowledge or ownership of the cocaine.
Subsequently all three men were arrested and brought back to the police station for
questioning. Pringle waived his rights after being given a Miranda warning and
confessed that the cocaine was his and he intended to sell it. He claimed that the
other occupants in the vehicle had no knowledge of the drugs. At trial, Pringle moved
to suppress his confession, claiming that it was the result of an illegal arrest. The
court denied his motion, and

Food And Cuisine And Culture Throughout The World
The meaning and use of food/cuisine culture throughout the world
Introduction
Gastronomy is a broad word pertaining to the study of food and culture. When one
takes a step back to examine as to why food is or isn t consumed, when it is or isn t
consumed, you see that all foods carry some sort of meaning that is often symbolic.
In this annotated bibliography I will be looking at five sources that explain some
symbolic meanings and uses of food. By looking at gastronomic themes such as: The
basic relation between food as an expression of ethnicity, its role in religion, and
consequently ritualistic use of food and food taboos, and also its role in society as a
status symbol.
Reading 1: Zelinsky, W. (2001). The enigma of ethnicity: Another American
dilemma. Iowa City, IA: University of Iowa City Press. Pg 117 122.
Zelinsky (2001) writes about Cuisine and how ethnic cuisine is a now positive
expression of ethnicity. He cites Van Den Berghe (1984) who states that along with
language the food complex becomes a basic badge of ethnicity. He writes about how
the only way for many American citizens to understand anything about other
ethnicities is through their food such as Indian curries, Vietnamese cuisine and so on.
It is the most accessible and the only real expression of culture that many are willing
accept, so therefore becomes the optimum way for immigrants to express themselves
in foreign countries. The theme of food as an expression of ethnicity is consistent

Guns Increase Our Safety
January 6, 2013. Loganville, Georgia. A 37 year old mother of twin 9 year olds
was home when she noticed a suspicious man outside her home. He began ringing
the doorbell incessantly and then tried gaining access to her home. She called her
husband and he instructed her to take the kids, hide and call 911. In a panic she
grabbed her kids and hid in a crawl space. As the intruder made his way in with a
crow bar, the mother hid as quietly as she could. The intruder found them in the
crawl space. His eyes met hers along with her .38 revolver. She fired all six rounds
and then fled to safety with her children. You can only imagine if she did not have a
firearm to protect her and her family how different the outcome might have been.
This is why guns increase our safety and protect law abiding citizens. ... Show more

In States that have laws allowing concealed weapons for those who meet the
requirements, there has been a measurable reduction in violent crimes and murder. In
the forty states that allow those who have a permit to carry a handgun, there are
approximately 3.5 million citizens permitted to have a concealed weapon on their
person or in their car. (Kates Mauser, 2007) A study completed by John Lott and
David Mustard showed that states enacting the concealed weapons law had a
reduction in rape by 5%, robbery 3%, aggravated assault by 7% and murder by 8.5%.

Judging People Research Paper
We live in a society that is solely focused on appearance and how we look to others.
Look at the people around you and what is the first thing you notice? You might
see their hair color, skin tone, and their clothing. Though while you are doing that
you could be making silent observations. Why do we do that? People say away
from the people who look dangerous and people will like the people who are
attractive. Though when it comes to judging appearance it s something that is a part
of our lives. Is it good? Is it bad? When humans judge one another it comes from an
evolutionary adaptation, however in modern times with a structured society it is not
acceptable to do so.
In Pam Belluck s New York Times article, Yes, looks do matter, address... Show more

Our mind should avoid the impulse of determining the causes of events until a wide
range of evidence is gathered and assessed from many different sources and traditions.
(Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington
Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We are quick to make
judgements on people s lives completely based on how we see them at that
particular moment. One can make the assumption that you are lazy if you come
into work late or not properly dressed. Though they don t know the true story, you
could be having an off day or something is currently happening in your life.
Humans are so focused on being right on our observations that when we told
something other than what we think we refuse to believe it. Raymond Torrs states
that, It s hard to understand the nature of other people or the natural world, if all
we really care to know is any and everything that comes out of our own mind. This
attitude constrains our ability to find out more about any issue. We assume that just
because we call something for what it is or what we think it is, that there isn t a
composite of underlying and interactive factors responsible for our observations.
(Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington
Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We shouldn t make simple
judgements on people by external appearance because it is superficial and often
unfair. After all, you don t know what circumstances the person might be facing or
who the person really is. Perhaps the person comes from a less fortunate family than
you and cannot afford the kind of stylish clothes your friends wear. However, that
does not mean the person is less intelligent or interesting than you are. People have
the lack of discernment which leads to large
The Garden Of Forking Paths Theme
The infinite is a concept that is difficult for man to comprehend, yet in Jorge Luis
Borges short story The Garden of Forking Paths he does such a fantastic job of
describing this idea of infinity and its effect on mankind through his explanation of a
labyrinth. This short story also can be used as somewhat of a lens while reading Fun
Home by Alison Bechdel. Borges story begins with frame narrativebut both stories
are, for the most part, told from a first person point of view. This aspect of point of
view is very helpful in supporting the idea of infinite possibilities and infinite
universes. By writing their stories from a first person point of view Bechdel and
Borges give their readers a glimpse into the idea that each action, however little that
action or decision may be, always has a reaction that can alter the outcome of a
persons life drastically. Each action, can have different outcomes that essentially
leads to infinite outcomes in other universes. A majority of Borges story is told from
a first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In Borges The Garden of Forking Paths he shows that perhaps there are many sides
to a story and a person should not just choose one and trust it entirely. Alison
Bechdel promotes a similar idea in Fun Home, and shows that each action, no
matter how small, can have a large effect on a person s life. It is impossible to
explain an exact outcome because there are numerous reasons why a certain result
occurred. While both of these stories explore completely different topics, they relate
to each other in underlying theme. Writing these two pieces in a first person point of
view makes each character seem somewhat untrustworthy, and this is why the idea of
infinite possibilities is so relevant. It is such a difficult concept to grasp and
completely understand, however the infinite plays a much bigger role in a person s
life than they can even
The Components Of Wine Prices
Components of Wine Prices When people walk in a wine shop or grocery store s
wine aisle, there are often hundreds of wines with different price on display. The
consumer may wonder what is the difference between a thousand dollar wine and a
twenty dollar wine. On the bottle of wine, a typical label shows a lot of information.
How to use those informations to evaluate the true value of winedefinitely is a
challenge. Even though consumer can easily find the quality rating of wine which
published by various wine writers and critics; however, the wine writers opinion can
influence consumer perceptions. Therefore, analysis the internal and external impact
on wine prices helps consumer make a wise decision. According to a wine
marketing research in Australian Marketing Journal, wine s brand name, geographic
region, grape types, fermentation method and vintage date are the main components
that affect wine prices (Ling and Lockshin 19). Knowing where a bottle of wine
comes from, what types of grape used and the reputation of its winery can help
consumer have an idea how much it worth. Wine is produced in many countries
throughout the world, but only a few of countries has developed a wine brand in
order to obtain benefits from this industry (Aranda, Gomez and Molina 2057).
Therefore, building brand image is a necessary step for wineries to increase reputation
and competitiveness. Successful wineries focus on providing customer satisfaction in
order to create higher reputation.

Cortisol Experiments
While it is an ethical act to protect animal rights and conduct experiments on the
lowest number of animals possible, but rational conclusions that can be generalized
to the whole population will need more experiments done on a bigger sample
population of the species. Also the letter does not mention if all eighteen monkeys
have been brought from one part of the globe or not, and if they have been raised in
same conditions or not. If the monkeys had not all been under the same conditions
before the experiments then chances are that they each one had different levels of
cortisol in their blood. When the stranger monkey and the monkeys under
examination are set to encounter with each other the scientists should pay attention to
two criteria... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example the first born child might have not yet been in a situation where the
parents had been absent before, whereas the second child might be acclimate to his
or her parents being absent, therefore being reunited with their parents again the
first child is likely to produce higher levels of cortisol. Hence, for studying how
humans respond to stimulation other factors such and psychological factors must be
considered. The fact that cortisol levels have shown to be higher in first time
mothers in not enough to assert that levels of stimulation is related to birth order.
Cortisol levels increase in times of fright and stress, and this could be the possible
explanation behind the high levels of cortisol in mothers who are giving birth for the
first time in comparison to mothers who have experienced this situation before.
Overall more experiments need to be conducted to be able to generalize this idea and
turn it into a fact. And other factors such as past stimulations, the amount of stimulus
and the experiment conditions need to be more thoroughly explained to be able to
rely on the validity of these
Pilot Deviations
Pilot Deviation, is defined as the actions that result in a deviation from Federal law.
Pilot Deviation Reports are used to document other incidents and violations of the
Federal Aviation Regulations and create unsafe situations. There are many types of
Pilot Deviation situations, some of those include: Operation of an aircraft in a
reckless or careless manner (91.13), aircraft flying below 500 AGL, TFR intrusions,
wrongly operating an aircraft in special use airspace, and prohibited night flight
operations. Depending on the severity of the violation, you may be penalized from
Administrative or Enforcement Action, a 709 ride requirement, or even death. It is
important to know what the deviation is and how to avoid it. Most of the pilot

Tennis Court Oath Essay
To what extent did Jacobins during the French Revolution influence Karl Marx in his
development of the idea of Proletariat Revolution in Marxism?
Identification and Evaluation of Sources
Through my initial investigation I discovered a painting of the Tennis Court Oath, by
Jacques Louis David, and a book, The Age of Revolution, written by Eric Hobsbawm.
The Tennis Court Oath depicts the pledge of the Third Estate to write their own
constitution against the Estates General, and the book contains a small analysis of
the French Revolution. The Age of Revolution analyses the more radical parts of the
French Revolution, with some insight into the Jacobin objectives.
The Tennis Court Oath, being a primary source and made during the time of the
French Revolution, allows for a decently accurate account of the event. The oath took
place at Versailles in 1789, following the clash of the First and Second Estates with
the Third Estate. The painter, David, was a French revolutionary.... Show more

Jacobin ideals were centered around a hope for equality and freedom throughout
the world (Hobsbawm 69 76). The Jacobin ideas brought together, as can be seen in
David s Tennis Court Oath, the third estate, which was desperate to achieve liberty
and equality, because of its previous tradition of mistreatment by the first and second
estate (David; Robespierre speech). This idea of the third estate joining together is
also seen in Marx s works. The continued neglect of the combined forces of the
individuals within the third estate was, thought by Marx and acted out by the
Jacobins, to lead to revolution in which the individuals would seek out equality.
However, in reality, the Jacobins were mostly concerned with replacing the monarchy
with a republic. Marx, on the other hand, believed a full communist state would

Therefore, each division should be autonomous in its decision making. This,
however, is not the case with our company. As a matter of fact, the corporate office
is influencing and forcing divisions to make the buy and sell decisions from each
other at the instructed price of 1.25 times of full production costs. To be a true profit
center, the divisions should have the authority to determine and negotiate prices of
their products either based on market or through internal resources to ensure
profitability. In addition, to be able to ensure operational excellence, managing the
costs such as production cost, administrative and selling overheads, should be a
priority.
The intervention from the corporate office is rather a de motivating factor for ED
when the division is not allowed to sell at the market price and it cannot sell
disregarding the internal clients in the market to be profitable. On the other hand SD
was taking the benefit of this low transfer price from ED and a high transfer out price
to ID, thus reporting a ROI of 15%. When analyzing based on the market prices, we
noted that SD is in fact not contributing to the corporate profitability. That is another
shortcoming that the decisions of both divisions are affected; one is considering
dumping a product having high contribution margins, while the other is

2.2.1 Theoretical Literature on Interest Rate Classical Theory of Interest rate This
theory was developed by economists like Prof. Pigou, Prof. Marshall, Walras, Knight
etc. According to this theory, Interest is the reward for the productive use of the
capital which is equal to the marginal productivity of physical capital. The classical
theorists regarded interest rate as an equilibrating factor between the demand for and
the supply of investible funds. Investment represents the demand for investible funds,
and interest rate is the price at which the two are equated. Interest rate establishes
equality between aggregate savings and aggregate investment. If there are at any time

To some classical economists like Senior, abstinence from consumption which is
essential for the act of saving while economists like Fisher. Stress that time
preference is the basic consideration of the people who save.
In both the views the rate of Interest plays an important role in the determination of
savings. The chemical economists commonly hold that the rate of saving is the direct
function of the rate of Interest. That is, savings expand with the rise in the rate of
Interest and when the rate of Interest falls, savings contract. It must be noted that the
saving function or the supply of savings curve is an upward sloping curve.
Equilibrium Rate of Interest: The equilibrium rate of Interest is determined at that
point at which both demand for and supply of capital are equal. In other words, at the

Neo Classical Theory of Interest Rate (Loanable Fund) The Neo classical or the
Loanable Fund Theory was expounded by the famous Swedish economist Knot Wick

Devastating Tsunami in Thailand
Tsunami in in Thailand 2004 The tsunami in Thailand that occurred on December 26,
2004, was by far the largest tsunami catastrophe in human history. It was triggered by
a magnitude 9.1 9.3 earthquake along the Indian Australian seduction zone off the
northern coast of Sumatra. The tsunami waves traveled primarily in the east to west
direction and caused major damage along the coasts of southern Thailand.
Unpredictably, it was a violent earthquake beneath the sea that initiated the massive
waves and struck more than a dozen countries in Southern Asia. It also destroyed
thousands of miles of coastline and even submerged entire islands permanently.
Throughout the region, the tsunami killed more than ... Show more content on

However, with just minutes notice, and clear orders to escape, various citizens who
had no clue what was going on, or how to respond, could have escaped to safeguard.
Absolutely, the tsunami and earthquake that triggered it are natural phenomena and
we, as humans, cannot presumably control the inevitably occurrence of natural
disaster.
In addition, if the proper scientific equipment would have been in place, the pattern
of a tsunami could have been also be identified and forecasted. (World Socialist

According to Gail Stewart, experts say that a tsunami warning system has existed but
only in the Pacific Ocean. Evidently, there was no such system in place in the Indian
Ocean. Specialists declare that these tsunamis are fairly common in the Pacific, more
than 90 percent arise.
She also mentions that not only a tsunami warning system costs a huge amount of
money, but also it did not occur to some people to build a warning system for such
an unusual occurrence had never seemed like an imperative investment. However, Dr
Laura Kong a tsunami expert explains that It s an inexact science now (17).
Therefore, it is an unpredictable incidence no one knows exactly when a tsunami will
occur since every earthquake doesn t automatically trigger a tsunami. In the lack of
planning, preparation and additional equipment, it is hard to make accurate
predictions. Moreover, time is of the essence,
Essay On Durban Botanic Gardens
INTRODUCTION The Durban Botanic Gardens plays a very vital and significant
role in our city, empowering social economics and horticulture in our great city.
Sadly, with the growth of technology the youth appear to have neglected the respect
we once had in the past. This writing will aim to inform the youth of the interesting
experience that I had at the gardens with the hopes of convincing them to
participate and further understand the environment we live in. Thus making it it
easier to find remedy solutions for the sinking ship earth slowly sinking into land
degradation and global warming. HISTORY The Durban Botanic Gardens is one
of the oldest surviving botanic garden in Africa and is Durban s oldest public
institutions. The garden was established in 1849 back when the city was not well
developed. The original location of the DGB was the south bank of the Umgeni
River and was later moved to the lower slopes of Berea forest because of the river s
hippo and crocodile populations (eThekwini Municipality 2014:4). For over 150
years the gardens have dedicated itself to education of biodiversity, heritage,... Show

Subsistence Patterns Of Anthropology
Horticulture is defined as the production of plants using a simple nonmechanized
technology (Nanda and Warms 2006:148), while Webster s Dictionary defines
horticulture as the art or science of growing fruits, vegetables, plants, flowers, or
trees. When most people think of horticulture, they simply think of gardening or
farming. Most people do not associate horticulture with culture itself or how
horticulture relates to anthropology, or the study human culture. In all actuality,
horticulture is a major part of cultural anthropology. The groups that hunt and grow
food, and the associated eating rituals or ceremonies associated with food differs by
culture or environment. This paper will discuss the subsistence pattern of horticulture

(Carvalho et al. 1989:239) The Yanomamo Indians of the Amazon rain forest are
organized by patrilineal kinship relationships, patrilineal descent from ancestors,
and marriage exchanges between kinship/descent groups. In the Yanomamo tribes,
the men are the leaders. The male leaders positions are mostly because of marriage
patterns and kinship. Yanomamo people often participate in arranged marriages and
the tribesmen often take multiple wives. In addition to polygamy, cross cousin
marriages are also a part of the Yanomamo culture. Woman are more or less
possessions in the Yanomami culture and the males position of power or importance
is often rated or scaled based on the number of wives he has. The woman spend most
of their time fetching water, caring for their children, and visiting with one another.
The woman of the tribe often spend a good deal of time weaving baskets and other
small crafts and also engage to some degree in fishing. The other main responsibilities
include cooking, gathering firewood and berries and fruits. The men of the tribe are
responsible for the distribution of food for the Yanomamo people. Males do the
majority of the fishing and hunting and while they do not eat the animals they hunt,
rather they share their meat with others within the tribe. The favor is returned by
other male hunters within the tribe. Male Yanomamis also spend time
Absurdism In The Stranger
Albert Camus utilizes an existential philosophy, absurdism, in his story, The Stranger
. Absurdism is when humans live meaningless lives in an irrational universe.
Meursault, the protagonist in The Stranger , has an absurdist view to life, which the
story revolves around. Meursault s unique view of life is unique and different from
the ethics of the society. Absurdismplays a key role in Meursault s life as the absurd
suninfluences his actions while his absurdist philosophies make him a stranger to
society. The absurd sun physically weakens Meursault leading him to make irrational
decisions. The sun is symbolic in The Strangeras it presents the irrationality in
Meursault s universe. The sun is a recurring symbol in the story and the first
instance where it displays the irrationality in Meursault s world is when Meursault
is faced with the Arab at the beach as the sun was starting to burn [his] cheeks, and
[he] could feel drops of sweat...It was this burning that made [him] move forward
(58). Meursault encounters the Arab and the intense weather dictates his actions
and makes Meursault think irrationally. The use of the words made him show how
the sun dictates his actions, which is completely irrational. When Meursault is
physically weakened in any form he thinks irrationally. In this case, the sun
weakens him physically as it is burning and leads him to step forward thinking he
could get the sun off of him, which is irrational. The irrationality of the weather
dictating Meursault s actions is absurdism. As Meursault makes his journey to the
Arabs at the spring he realizes that all [he] had to do was turn around and that
would be the end of it. But, the whole beach, throbbing in the sun, was pressing on
[his] back. [He] took a few steps toward the spring (58). Meursault is aware that all
he needs to do is turn back; however he takes a few steps forward showing how the
sun dictates his actions. Furthermore, Meursault is physically weakened as the
intense heat was pressing on his back leading to his irrational thought to disregard his
mind and move forward. Throughout the story, Meursault is constantly led into
irrational thought when physically weakened. An absurdist world is defined to be one

The Is Not Escape Attention Is The Med Line
The area that absolutely does not escape attention is the med line. A row of chairs
line the wall diagonal from the window to the med room. Each evening, clients sit
in the chairs at the specified time and wait. It is consistently and predictably stress
provoking. They wait, side by side, for their turn to receive their medications. By
this time of day emotions have escalated and patience has been spent for some,
such as a man recently observed on the floor. Each minute that passed was like the
rotation of a wind up arm for a Jack in the box. As he moved from one seat to the
next one closer to the window his expressions and mutterings grew angrier. Tighter
and tighter he was wound, just waiting to pop. Once he finally reached the
window, he berated the nurse for her slowness and incompetence. The interaction
was not therapeutic and no one s self esteem was enhanced in that moment. His
escalation was visible for anyone who chose to look but it seemed as though no
one noticed or saw it as a potential issue. It was simply another display of an all too
common episode, when it becomes clear that a person belongs here. While
socialization is common and clients can be seen smiling with each other, activity is
noticeably absent for long stretches of time. During the evenings, a walk to the
cafeteria is the extent of physical activity and exercise available. Some clients fidget
while talking with peers; shifting weight from one foot to the next or fiddling with
the hem of their
Literary Analysis Of High Holy Day By Jane Shore
High Holy Days is a poem in which the author, Jane Shore, conveys the emergence
of an innocent youth into a cruel and anti Semitic world. It is told from a point of
reflection on a childhood memory but as if it was presently occurring. This poem
primarily focuses on Judaism along with the prejudice experienced by the Jewish
community. The speaker is characterized as a childon the cusp of a transition in
maturity and attitude. This plays a key role in understanding the text. While the
speaker appears to be merely a child, no greater than thirteen years old, she is
presented with feelings of great responsibility to lead her people and defend them
against the broken windows (Shore 59) and the spray painted writing on the walls,

The speaker is thinking in a childish manner, caught dwelling on how her wool
winter suit scratched. (Shore 2) and the idiosyncrasies of her mother. Her attention
is consistently darting from object to object, unable to relax her thoughts. Further
into the text, feelings of doubt and skepticism emerge. When thinking that she is
the chosen one, she questions God s intentions. Why would God choose me. . .
(Shore 57) she asks herself. The speaker wonders how could someone so
seemingly insignificant and feeble lead a congregation to victory? Then, once
feeling empowered by the possibility of her being able to defend her people, a tone
of acceptance arises. She gains self pride and confidence knowing that she is
capable of interpreting what is occurring around her. As a Jew, she is aware of what
her faith requires of her yet is unsure of how to approach them. During her visit at the
synagogue, she began pondering about these responsibilities and how she should
fulfill them, thus resulting in the chain of events that led to the acceptance of her
obligations to her religion.
The author uses biblical imagery to successfully convey the main idea of High
Holy Days. The speaker is a young girl who has a deep desire to uplift her people
despite her not understanding why hatred exists towards the Jews. Shore uses
imagery to enable the reader to peer through the speaker s eyes and see into the
The Moon Research Paper
The Moon is very high ranking. Some people just look up at the Moon and don t
realize how cool and interesting it is. They don t understand the history behind it.
They probably don t know about the boldness of the Moon, which is very
compelling. The Moon is a very essential factor of the Earth. I wager that they don t
know half of the fun facts that I will notify you. To begin, I will start with the
principle, the origin. It all initiated in the course of the time when the Earthwas
formed 4.5 billion years ago. Other planets were progressing to form and generate
contact with Earth. In the process of making contact with Earth, it blew out rocks and
debris. Most of the remains went into orbit around the Earth and formed into the

It takes 135 days to drive to the Moon by car if you go 70 mph the whole way. 70
mph means you go 70 miles every hour, so you multiply that by 24 and you get
1680 miles. That means that you drive 1680 miles every day. Multiply 135 by
1,680 and you get 226,800. That means that you go 226,800 miles in 135 days. Did
you know there are mountains on the Moon? I didn t until I did my research. The
Moon takes 27 days to orbit Earth. The Moon is Earth s natural satellite. If there
were four same sized moons as Earth s satellite, all of them would fit into Earth.
This is proven by the Moon and Earth radius. The Moon s radius is 1,079 miles.
The Earth s radius is 3,959 miles. There are different names for the moon. Luna is
the name from the Romans. Selene is the name from the Greeks. We always see
one side of the moon from Earth. You always see one side of a sphere when you
are looking at it from any point of view. The Moon causes tides on Earth. The moon
s highest mountain is about the same height of Mount Everest. Deepest crater is
4500 meters. Some people see a man on the moon. The Moon is the fifth largest
Moon in the solar system. White flags are currently on the Moon because radiation
has bleached out their united states colors. The oldest Moon rock on the moon is

mental health program will also implement clinical treatment integration. Integrated

People have been asking what FINA is going to do about the world records set
using the now banned swim suits. Thirty eight of the forty two world records have
been broken by swimmers wearing the LZR Racer while it was legal. Twenty three
of these records were set at the 2008 summer Olympics in Beijing with the suits on.
Ninety four percent of the gold medals were won by people wearing these swim suits
and eighty nine percent of the total medals won were by swimmers in these illegal
suits (Cole, 2008). These statistics say a lot about how much the polyurethane swim
suits have changed the sport of competitive swimming. Records are made to be
broken, but it is a clear indication that these suits should not be allowed when twenty

The most plausible option, however, is to place an asterisk mark next to every record
set with the polyurethane swimsuits. Fortunately, FINA has come to this conclusion
and from now on the records set in the LZR Racer swim suits (or in any other now
banned swim suit) will remain in their own separate asterisked category. The old
records held before the suits will also stand in a different category to be broken by
people wearing legal swim suits that are FINA approved and are going to stay
FINA approved. FINA has stated that world records in any competition will only
be recognized as world records if the swimmer was wearing a FINA approved swim
suit (FINA, 2013). Both of these categories should be equally credible, the only
difference is some records are with the swim suits and some are without the swim
suits. This issue has caused a huge riot throughout competitive swimming. FINA has
done the best they can at covering up a mistake that shouldn t have been made in the
first place; swimming, however, will never be the same. If they bring these suits
back, this will all happen again. Why repeat past mistakes?
Legal Advancement in Swimming Accessories
Much has been done to improve swimming as a sport. After much research and
experimenting, we have learned that by making pools deeper and building gutters
around the edges of the pool, we can reduce the amount of waves working against
the swimmer. Lane lines also help keep each swimmers waves in their own

people back to life than reconstruct buildings. Therefore, national governments are
obliged to do both with more attention to the first aspect. Everybody is responsible

neighbors, strangers, and his country in whole. This is the best way to thank him for
a peaceful future achieved due to his destroyed life. This paper researches the
problem using two relevant literary resources, a short story Soldier s Home by Ernest

veteran Antony Swofford. It hereafter discusses the similarities of these readings and
defines the article s contribution to our understanding of the story in order to get a

Eight Theoretical Perspectives
There are eight theoretical perspectives in contemporary psychology. Any topic in
psychology has many approaches that have a variety of perspectives for each that is
given. Starting with the biological perspective, it is noted that physiology has played
a major role in psychology. The organ systems such as the nervous system, endocrine
system, immune system, and genetics are greatly emphasized in studying physical
bases of human and animal behavior. Neuroscience more specifically studies the
nervous system, particularly the brain. The next theoretical perspective is the
cognitive perspective, which is a relatively modern approach. It focuses on the
important role of mental processes in how people process and remember information,

The condenser also functions to maintain the temperature throughout the heating
process and thereby maximizing the accuracy of the experimental results. The
addition of boiling chips in the heating process to dissolve the diphenyl serves to
minimize the possibility of the occurrence of bumping, i.e. sudden explosive boiling
whereby large bubbles erupt from the heated solution. Instead, a steady stream of
small air bubbles is produced with the addition of the chips.
Subsequently after complete dissolving of the crude diphenyl, an additional 15 mL
of ethanol is added to ensure that all the crude diphenyl is dissolved. A small
amount of decolourising charcoal is added to the solution mixture. The
decolourising charcoal serves to remove any impurities in the mixture, by adsorbing
substances responsible for colouration of the solution on its surface via its activated
properties. A small amount is used as the desired product may be adsorbed as well if
a large amount is used instead.
The mixture is filtered via a preheated stemless glass funnel immediately after boiling
for 10 15 minutes. This is to prevent any early crystallization of the mixture since its
crystallization temperature is quite low. The use of preheated apparatus for filtrationis
also to minimize premature crystallization of the mixture. Filtration of the mixture

Canadian United States Foreign Policy
Canadian United States Foreign Policy, Consistent and Thriving I hypothesize that
the current US policy with Canada makes sense and is beneficial to both countries.
Our current foreign policies with Canada include, working in partnerships within, at,
and away from our borders to achieve enhanced security and accelerate the legitimate
flow of people, goods, and services between our two countries. Our relationship with
Canada, I would consider to be strong. The fact that we have a very large, extensive
border between our countries, a solid relationship is almost a necessity. Eve with outr
differences with regards to boundaries and oil reserve rights, the communications
between our country are strong and I would classify the United Statesrelationship with
Canada and strong and thriving, but ore so consistent. The relationship between
the US and Canada actually thrives off of each other, for example, Canada,
absorbs 43% of U.S. exports, and half of their energy imports come from the
Western Hemisphere. (US Dept. of State 2013) With this, I would also go to say
that sharing a border with shared values and beliefs in our economic structure are
key to successful foreign relations. With strong relations with our neighboring
country, we can rely on each other in times of crisis and in peace. For example,
Canada is the US s largest foreign supplier of energy, including oil, gas, uranium, and
electric power. (CIA Factbook) Without these natural resources being imported,
Hermia In A Midsummer s Night Dream
Although some may argue that Puck is the most important character of Shakespeare
s A Midsummer s Night Dream, it is evident based on the events of the play that
Hermia should be given that title. First, although she was oppressed by her father
and treated as if she were his property, she rose above the persecution and took
matters into her own hands. In addition, her actions represent and support the theme
of fighting for what you want, even if the course of true lovenever did run smooth
(I.i.134). Finally, like many protagonists from literature, she has bold and complex
personality, but is still a relatable characterfor many readers. The first reason that

Financial Investment Essay
What type of financial investments would you invest in if you were given 10,000
dollars, what made you choose these investments, as well as; how did your choices
affect your decision as to tracking these financial investments through the usage of
financial strategies and trends. While finding the right pecuniary investment to
finance in is never an easy decision, one must first do their research as to what type
of financial resources are available on the market to invest in; then apply those
financial decisions and strategies to their financial market plan. Let s begin with what
a financial market does, financial markets perform a vital function: they transfer

as to what type of investment would be the best options to choose from. Next, is
bonds which is a financial instrument, that is issued by a corporation or
government entity and is required to be paid back; known as an IOU. These will

dividends in a portfolio of assets; where shares of a closed end funds can be traded
among investors much like stocks (Kelly Williams, 2017, pg. 163).
For instance, like with this case study, if you were given 10,000 dollars to invest
what financial investments would you choose; for me my decision would be as
follows: First, I d choose to invest in General Motors stock which currently cost on
average about $6.25 a share, and the current quarterly dividend is rounding up to just

I Naturally And Instantly Chose `` Bohemian Rhapsody ``
By...
For my song analysis assignment, I naturally and instantly chose Bohemian Rhapsody
by Queen. This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing
compares to the harmonies and musicianship put into this song.
Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975.
This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground
of the mid 70s
Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He
wrote the song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song
using a structure that leans towards a more classical approach.
In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which
were initiating throughout this era) and took them to another level.
Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental
line up of Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were
something completely new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of
rock music.
Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned
them a glam rocker tag.
The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced
to the practice of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do
with Freddie coming out as a homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and
therefore majority of people were against it.
Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just

In order to achieve seamless handling of this data, organizations must ensure that their

Quite a bit of growth for a start up company founded only in 1997 by a bunch of
classmates and rugby mates in a basement of a house. Like other online grocers,
Grocery Gateway s strategy is all about the last mile of service. Online grocers sell
groceries over the Internet and deliver them directly to the door. In this sense,
groceries are used to initiate the customer relationship and create a pipeline to the
home. The online grocer then leverages this pipeline to introduce complimentary
products to the consumer.2
What is attractive to consumers is that the online grocery store is open 24 hours, 7
days a week, and that there is greater simplicity in clicking a mouse to get the food
you want over that of trekking down to a physical store and pushing a grocery cart.
Though prices are competitive with supermarkets, price is not the value proposition
for the online grocery shopper. Rather, for the consumer, shopping online for
groceries is a time saver. Consumers generally busy people with not enough time on
their hands are looking to п¬Ѓnd easier and quicker ways to do chores, like grocery
shopping. Also, people who п¬Ѓnd it physically challenging to do grocery shopping
(such as the elderly and the disabled), as well as those who choose not to own a car,

History and Origin of the Vatican City
History of Vatican and Vatican City:
Vatican is regarded as the most ancient religious and political institution that exists in
the modern world because of its antique history. In addition to being the most ancient
political and religious institution, Vatican is the seat of independent, sovereign, and
Free State of Catholic Church s Government. Actually, this institution is the
shrewdest diplomatic political power across the globe with its diplomatic quality
being the most important worldwide. The shrewdness of its diplomatic political
power originates from its inclusion of the three major aspects of the Catholic Church
i.e. sovereignty, independence, and freedom. While it s diplomatic quality is
significant around the globe, its independence as a State is regarded as one of the
newest (Manhattan, 1949, p.11). Notably, the diplomatic and political power of
Vatican can be understood through tracing its history and the history of the Vatican
City.
Origin of the Vatican City:
Vatican City was formed on February 11, 1929 following the signing of the Treaty
of Conciliation by Benito Mussolini and the cardinal Pietro Gasparri, the State
Secretary of Pius XI. While the signing of the Lateran Pacts between Italy and the
Holy See paved way for the formation of this city, the pacts were ratified on June 7,
1929 ( Vatican City in the Past , n.d.). Since then, the nature of the Vatican City as a
sovereign State that is different from the Holy See is widely recognized under

Dial In Service, which takes place at the application layer also known as layer 7 of
the OSI model. It is a protocol that is used to communicate to and from the NAS
(Network Access Server) and also to the AAA server. RADIUS was developed as
access server authentication and accounting protocol. It is used as both a client
and server protocol that is also a software that allows remote access to servers to
allow servers to communicate with the main server, by doing this it allows the
server to authenticate dial in users and allows authorised access to the services that
was requested. RADIUS is an industry standard that is used by a various number of
network product companies, it is also a proposed IETF standard. The RADIUS is
known to be considered as a connectionless service How RADIUS works RADIUS

authenticated access, by using the user s username and password. Some of these
authenticated methods are the Point to point protocol (PPP), Password
Authentication Protocol (PAP) or Challenge Handshake Authentication Protocol
(CHAP) and there are other methods of authentication that could be used with
RADIUS. When a user tries to log in it sends a query Access Request from Network

Job Outlook Of Paralegal Jobs

Law Office Technology
9/7/2014
Paralegal jobs were posted top 20 for income and job outlook (Lawyeredu.org, par
6). There is many different categories that paralegals can fall into. For example,
litigation support careers which include working in law firms, corporations and with
support vendors. The careers are for the most part similar although they do differ in
salaries, hours and some tasks.
Paralegals first established themselves in law firms. Law firms are basically the jack
of all trades. Working in a law firm, there s a wide and broad range of cases. Larger
firms are most likely to specify in a certain area as opposed to smaller firms but
overall, there is different types of cases to work with. That means you have the
opportunity to work with different types of laws which allows you to gain
experience. Because of that same reason, paralegals who work for law firms are very
knowledgeable.
Larger law firms are not willing to train. They require at least 2 5 years of experience.
Smaller firms on the other side are good for beginning paralegals because they do a
little bit of everything. Their job as a paralegal in a small law firm will probably
require secretarial work. In contrast working for a larger firm, job duties are most
likely to be limited to a specific area. For example, you could be limited to work with
family law and only that.
A benefit for working in a law firm is the salary. They tend to get higher salaries, on
average,
Continuities West Lists In Portraits
1.What are the continuities West lists in portraits from the 15th to the 19th centuries?
According to West, portraits were expected to hold a likeness with the sitter s status,
character, or position. However, some fundamentals were changed once
modernization came about with a wave of new technologies and the industrial
revolution; this of course, had an impact on art. For example, the invention of
photography made new possibilities for portrait art. Another aspect of this time, was
how to represent people and the changing views of individuals in society.
2.What is modernism and how do portraits change in this style and period?
Modernism is a period in which technological advancements have been made and
refers to cultural and aesthetic responses;
Salad Bowl Analysis
The immigration is always an important issue throughout the history of the United
States. The government is struggling to assist the diversity of cultures and ethnic
groups because immigrants continuously bring their traditions into America. This
raised the metaphor melting pot and salad bowl, which described the term of
assimilation and integration of the many different cultures in America. Today, the
United Statessociety no longer matches the melting potmetaphor; it shifts to salad
bowl metaphor. This concept is different from the notion of the melting pot. The
salad bowl means that the immigrants keep their unique customs and cultures, the
integration degree of immigrant merge into the American community, and the youth
immigrant generations recognize their heritage of origin culturein the mainstream of
American culture. For these reasons, the salad bowl metaphor would be more
appropriate to America society these days.
The term melting pot was generally used in the United States after it was used as a
metaphor for describing an association of cultures and ethnicities in 1908. Many
different types of people blend together as one in a society. America is always a
nation of immigration, based on the history element of the country. The generations
of immigrants have mixed together. They have refused their origin traditions and
cultures to become totally assimilated into American society. That was why
American citizen considered United States was a melting pot. In contrast to the
soup bowl theory, there is the emergence of salad bowl metaphor. It asserts that the
integration of the many different cultures of the United States people combines like
a big salad bowl. It means many cultures, languages, and ethic co exist in peaceful,
like all kinds of ingredients in a bowl of salad. It mixes together, but it does not
dissolve into one.
Although the melting pot theory seems to be outdated in American society today,
however, there are still a lot of conservatives to favor their views on this metaphor.
They think the fusing of different ethnic group is essential for building a cohesive
society. Immigrants should give up their origin tradition national identity, and they try
to entirely assimilate

It is my belief that that the five fundamental practices of the Leadership challenge
will enable me to accomplish extraordinary endeavors. The five practices: model the
way, inspire a shared vision, challenge the process, enable others to act, and
encouraging the heart, spoke to me on a foundational level. The leadership
challenges that Kouzes Posner (2012) propose, are closely reflective of my personal
belief system and philosophy of leadership. According to Northouse (2016)
Transformational leaders set out to empower followers and nurture them in change.
They attempt to raise the consciousness in individuals and to get them to transcend
their own self interests for the sake of others (p. 175).
Transformational leadership is important

  • 1. Essay My Favourite Teacher Writing an essay about my favorite teacher may seem like a straightforward task at first glance, but it actually presents a unique challenge. The difficulty lies not in expressing admiration or respect for a particular educator but in articulating those sentiments in a compelling and original way. One might encounter the hurdle of avoiding clichГ©s and generic phrases that fail to capture the essence of what makes this teacher truly special. Additionally, there's the task of striking a balance between personal anecdotes and broader reflections on the teacher's impact, ensuring that the essay resonates with readers beyond just the author's own experience. Furthermore, attempting to convey the depth of influence a teacher has had on one's life within the confines of an essay can be daunting. It requires careful consideration of which aspects of the teacher-student relationship to highlight and how to effectively communicate their significance. Ultimately, crafting an essay on this topic necessitates introspection, creativity, and the ability to distill complex emotions and experiences into coherent prose. In conclusion, writing an essay about my favorite teacher demands more than just recounting fond memories; it demands a thoughtful exploration of the teacher's influence and the lessons learned from them. • 2. Literary Nonfiction Analysis Working Definitions: When I enrolled in Introduction to Journalism and Nonfiction, I expected to be spending the majority of the time reading primarily political articles about happenings in the US and analyzing the structure to write our own. Instead, I was pleasantly surprised to find that we studied selections with a lot more creativity. To me, literary nonfiction is similar to reading a primary source for a history class, but one that may not necessarily be primarily seeking to report on facts. One couldn t cite a literary nonfiction piece in a historical analysis essay, but one could personally increase his or her understanding of an event or period in time by reading literary nonfiction. It seems that the readings that we ve done have been true in the sense that they describe real events, such as the Solar Eclipse... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... As one of my first paragraphs, I wrote: Cars permeate my life in the most unthinkable ways: I go on frequent aimless journeys just for the pleasure of driving; I hallucinate a rumbling Lamborghini V10 engine as I run, as though the Lamborghini has swallowed my soul; my computer s desktop image has always portrayed my favorite car; and friends are put to sleep as I spend hours describing common rail diesel injection as though I am an alternative to melatonin. In this paragraph, I tried not to specifically imitate any piece that we had read, but instead to convey the theme of advanced sensory description that our course readings have exposed us to. I felt that in this paragraph of my short assignment, I effectively used description to establish a humorous tone for the rest of the piece in my simile about melatonin. I also felt that personifying the car as an entity capable of swallow[ing] my soul brings the reader to a closer understanding of how I react to cars and how I feel about them; that they are not simply just machines for commuting from
  • 3. The Importance Of Teaching A Past Lesson One of the greatest aspects of teaching is having the opportunity to engage with students. Engaging in the practice requires that teachers are constantly reflecting and wondering how they can better enhance their performance. This is often done through reflecting on past lessons as well as actively seeking appropriate leadership roles and opportunities. Effective teachers are master reflectors who always understand how their actions contribute to the success of their students, their families and their communities. Effective teachers are also sure that they are using their reflectionsand new knowledge to inform their practice. In addition to reflecting on their own practice, new teachers are always reading to collaborate with superiors or colleagues in order to gain new and innovative information. My first piece of evidence I have included for Standard 9 is an analysis of a past lesson. In the analysis, I carefully reflect on the effects my choices and actions in the classroom have impacted my students. Despite how passionately teachers may feel about engaging with students, it is important that we are constantly wondering how we can improve our performance in the classroom. Little that happens in the classroom happens for no reason. Constant reflection allows for teachers and students alike to understand how classroom interactions can become more meaningful. In addition to my lesson analysis, I have also included a lesson plan and its subsequent reflection. The lesson

Ed. 2d 769; 2003 U.S. LEXIS 9198 Facts Maryland police officers pulled a vehicle over for speeding at approximately 3am on 7 August 1999. The police officers found three men in the vehicle. The driver was Donte Partlow, the front seat passenger and defendant Joseph Pringle, and the backseat passenger Otis Smith. One of the police officers asked the owner and driver of the vehicle for his license and registration. When Partlow opened the glove box, the police officer observed a large amount of money in the glove box. The police officer checked for outstanding warrants and issued Partlow a warning. Then the officer asked for permission to search his vehicle. Upon searching the vehicle the police officer found the money he had seen earlier as well as five baggies of cocaine in between the armrest and back seat. All three occupants in the vehicle were questioned and denied any knowledge or ownership of the cocaine. Subsequently all three men were arrested and brought back to the police station for questioning. Pringle waived his rights after being given a Miranda warning and confessed that the cocaine was his and he intended to sell it. He claimed that the other occupants in the vehicle had no knowledge of the drugs. At trial, Pringle moved to suppress his confession, claiming that it was the result of an illegal arrest. The court denied his motion, and

  • 6. Food And Cuisine And Culture Throughout The World The meaning and use of food/cuisine culture throughout the world Introduction Gastronomy is a broad word pertaining to the study of food and culture. When one takes a step back to examine as to why food is or isn t consumed, when it is or isn t consumed, you see that all foods carry some sort of meaning that is often symbolic. In this annotated bibliography I will be looking at five sources that explain some symbolic meanings and uses of food. By looking at gastronomic themes such as: The basic relation between food as an expression of ethnicity, its role in religion, and consequently ritualistic use of food and food taboos, and also its role in society as a status symbol. Reading 1: Zelinsky, W. (2001). The enigma of ethnicity: Another American dilemma. Iowa City, IA: University of Iowa City Press. Pg 117 122. Zelinsky (2001) writes about Cuisine and how ethnic cuisine is a now positive expression of ethnicity. He cites Van Den Berghe (1984) who states that along with language the food complex becomes a basic badge of ethnicity. He writes about how the only way for many American citizens to understand anything about other ethnicities is through their food such as Indian curries, Vietnamese cuisine and so on. It is the most accessible and the only real expression of culture that many are willing accept, so therefore becomes the optimum way for immigrants to express themselves in foreign countries. A 37 year old mother of twin 9 year olds was home when she noticed a suspicious man outside her home. He began ringing the doorbell incessantly and then tried gaining access to her home. She called her husband and he instructed her to take the kids, hide and call 911. In a panic she grabbed her kids and hid in a crawl space. As the intruder made his way in with a crow bar, the mother hid as quietly as she could. The intruder found them in the crawl space. His eyes met hers along with her .38 revolver. She fired all six rounds and then fled to safety with her children. You can only imagine if she did not have a firearm to protect her and her family how different the outcome might have been. • 8. Judging People Research Paper We live in a society that is solely focused on appearance and how we look to others. Look at the people around you and what is the first thing you notice? You might see their hair color, skin tone, and their clothing. Though while you are doing that you could be making silent observations. Why do we do that? People say away from the people who look dangerous and people will like the people who are attractive. Though when it comes to judging appearance it s something that is a part of our lives. Is it good? Is it bad? When humans judge one another it comes from an evolutionary adaptation, however in modern times with a structured society it is not acceptable to do so. Our mind should avoid the impulse of determining the causes of events until a wide range of evidence is gathered and assessed from many different sources and traditions. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We are quick to make judgements on people s lives completely based on how we see them at that particular moment. One can make the assumption that you are lazy if you come into work late or not properly dressed. Though they don t know the true story, you could be having an off day or something is currently happening in your life. Humans are so focused on being right on our observations that when we told something other than what we think we refuse to believe it. Raymond Torrs states that, It s hard to understand the nature of other people or the natural world, if all we really care to know is any and everything that comes out of our own mind. This attitude constrains our ability to find out more about any issue. We assume that just because we call something for what it is or what we think it is, that there isn t a composite of underlying and interactive factors responsible for our observations. (Torres, Raymond. Why Judging by Appearance Can Be Harmful. The Huffington Post. TheHuffingtonPost.com, n.d. Web. 14 Jan. 2017.) We shouldn t make simple judgements on people by external appearance because it is superficial and often unfair. After all, you don t know what circumstances the person might be facing or who the person really is. Perhaps the person comes from a less fortunate family than you and cannot afford the kind of stylish clothes your friends wear. However, that does not mean the person is less intelligent or interesting than you are. People have the lack of discernment which leads to large
  • 9. The Garden Of Forking Paths Theme The infinite is a concept that is difficult for man to comprehend, yet in Jorge Luis Borges short story The Garden of Forking Paths he does such a fantastic job of describing this idea of infinity and its effect on mankind through his explanation of a labyrinth. This short story also can be used as somewhat of a lens while reading Fun Home by Alison Bechdel. Borges story begins with frame narrativebut both stories are, for the most part, told from a first person point of view. This aspect of point of view is very helpful in supporting the idea of infinite possibilities and infinite universes. By writing their stories from a first person point of view Bechdel and Borges give their readers a glimpse into the idea that each action, however little that action or decision may be, always has a reaction that can alter the outcome of a persons life drastically. Each action, can have different outcomes that essentially leads to infinite outcomes in other universes. A majority of Borges story is told from a first... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Borges The Garden of Forking Paths he shows that perhaps there are many sides to a story and a person should not just choose one and trust it entirely. Alison Bechdel promotes a similar idea in Fun Home, and shows that each action, no matter how small, can have a large effect on a person s life. It is impossible to explain an exact outcome because there are numerous reasons why a certain result occurred. While both of these stories explore completely different topics, they relate to each other in underlying theme. Writing these two pieces in a first person point of view makes each character seem somewhat untrustworthy, and this is why the idea of infinite possibilities is so relevant. It is such a difficult concept to grasp and completely understand, however the infinite plays a much bigger role in a person s life than they can even

The consumer may wonder what is the difference between a thousand dollar wine and a twenty dollar wine. On the bottle of wine, a typical label shows a lot of information. Therefore, building brand image is a necessary step for wineries to increase reputation and competitiveness. The fact that cortisol levels have shown to be higher in first time mothers in not enough to assert that levels of stimulation is related to birth order. Cortisol levels increase in times of fright and stress, and this could be the possible explanation behind the high levels of cortisol in mothers who are giving birth for the first time in comparison to mothers who have experienced this situation before. • 17. Tennis Court Oath Essay To what extent did Jacobins during the French Revolution influence Karl Marx in his development of the idea of Proletariat Revolution in Marxism? Identification and Evaluation of Sources Through my initial investigation I discovered a painting of the Tennis Court Oath, by Jacques Louis David, and a book, The Age of Revolution, written by Eric Hobsbawm. The Tennis Court Oath depicts the pledge of the Third Estate to write their own constitution against the Estates General, and the book contains a small analysis of the French Revolution. The Age of Revolution analyses the more radical parts of the French Revolution, with some insight into the Jacobin objectives. The Tennis Court Oath, being a primary source and made during the time of the French Revolution, allows for a decently accurate account of the event. The oath took place at Versailles in 1789, following the clash of the First and Second Estates with the Third Estate. The painter, David, was a French revolutionary.... The Jacobin ideas brought together, as can be seen in David s Tennis Court Oath, the third estate, which was desperate to achieve liberty and equality, because of its previous tradition of mistreatment by the first and second estate (David; Robespierre speech). This idea of the third estate joining together is also seen in Marx s works. The continued neglect of the combined forces of the individuals within the third estate was, thought by Marx and acted out by the Jacobins, to lead to revolution in which the individuals would seek out equality. However, in reality, the Jacobins were mostly concerned with replacing the monarchy with a republic. Marx, on the other hand, believed a full communist state would emerge from

This, however, is not the case with our company. As a matter of fact, the corporate office is influencing and forcing divisions to make the buy and sell decisions from each other at the instructed price of 1.25 times of full production costs. To be a true profit center, the divisions should have the authority to determine and negotiate prices of their products either based on market or through internal resources to ensure profitability. In addition, to be able to ensure operational excellence, managing the costs such as production cost, administrative and selling overheads, should be a priority. The classical theorists regarded interest rate as an equilibrating factor between the demand for and the supply of investible funds. Meursault, the protagonist in The Stranger , has an absurdist view to life, which the story revolves around. Meursault s unique view of life is unique and different from the ethics of the society. Absurdismplays a key role in Meursault s life as the absurd suninfluences his actions while his absurdist philosophies make him a stranger to society. The absurd sun physically weakens Meursault leading him to make irrational decisions. The sun is symbolic in The Strangeras it presents the irrationality in Meursault s universe. The sun is a recurring symbol in the story and the first instance where it displays the irrationality in Meursault s world is when Meursault is faced with the Arab at the beach as the sun was starting to burn [his] cheeks, and [he] could feel drops of sweat...It was this burning that made [him] move forward (58). Meursault encounters the Arab and the intense weather dictates his actions and makes Meursault think irrationally. The use of the words made him show how the sun dictates his actions, which is completely irrational. When Meursault is physically weakened in any form he thinks irrationally. In this case, the sun weakens him physically as it is burning and leads him to step forward thinking he could get the sun off of him, which is irrational. The irrationality of the weather dictating Meursault s actions is absurdism. As Meursault makes his journey to the Arabs at the spring he realizes that all [he] had to do was turn around and that would be the end of it. But, the whole beach, throbbing in the sun, was pressing on [his] back. [He] took a few steps toward the spring (58). Meursault is aware that all he needs to do is turn back; however he takes a few steps forward showing how the sun dictates his actions. Furthermore, Meursault is physically weakened as the intense heat was pressing on his back leading to his irrational thought to disregard his mind and move forward. Throughout the story, Meursault is constantly led into irrational thought when physically weakened. An absurdist world is defined to be one

The speaker is characterized as a childon the cusp of a transition in maturity and attitude. This plays a key role in understanding the text. When thinking that she is the chosen one, she questions God s intentions. Why would God choose me. . . (Shore 57) she asks herself. The speaker wonders how could someone so seemingly insignificant and feeble lead a congregation to victory? Then, once feeling empowered by the possibility of her being able to defend her people, a tone of acceptance arises. She gains self pride and confidence knowing that she is capable of interpreting what is occurring around her. As a Jew, she is aware of what her faith requires of her yet is unsure of how to approach them. During her visit at the synagogue, she began pondering about these responsibilities and how she should fulfill them, thus resulting in the chain of events that led to the acceptance of her obligations to her religion. The author uses biblical imagery to successfully convey the main idea of High Holy Days. The speaker is a young girl who has a deep desire to uplift her people despite her not understanding why hatred exists towards the Jews. Shore uses imagery to enable the reader to peer through the speaker s eyes and see into the

The old records held before the suits will also stand in a different category to be broken by people wearing legal swim suits that are FINA approved and are going to stay FINA approved. FINA has stated that world records in any competition will only be recognized as world records if the swimmer was wearing a FINA approved swim suit (FINA, 2013). Once Hermia and Lysander set up their plans to elope, everything seemed to be going smoothly for the couple. However, when Puck mistakenly put the potion on Lysander s eyelids, things took a turn for the worst. Although she could have given up and decided it wasn t worth trying to force him to love her again instead of Helena, she knew that he was the one for her and was willing to fight for him. For instance, when Helena seemed to have stolen both men from Helena, even though they have been friends for years, she is willing to do whatever it takes to get him back. She states, How low am I? I am not yet so low/But that my nails can reach unto thine eyes (III.ii.305 306). This shows that she would be even go as far as hurting her best friend to get her lover back, which relates back to the quote of the course of true love never did run smooth (I.i.134). In a somewhat predictable conclusion, Puck removes the potion from Lysander and everything goes back to normal. Because she showed her true passion for Lysander earlier, even though they only see it as a dream, their love only grows stronger and they get married publicly in the presence of

  • 43. I Naturally And Instantly Chose `` Bohemian Rhapsody `` By... For my song analysis assignment, I naturally and instantly chose Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen. This song was the anthem of the 70 s and still, our anthem today. Nothing compares to the harmonies and musicianship put into this song. Queen released Bohemian Rhapsody on October 31, 1975. This song was greeted like a gift from heaven in the largely desolated musical ground of the mid 70s Freddie Mercury is the writer of the song also pianist and a lead vocalist in Queen. He wrote the song in his apartment whilst he was trying to develop a complex song using a structure that leans towards a more classical approach. In the studio, the band embraced the psychedelic and progressive elements (which were initiating throughout this era) and took them to another level. Bohemian Rhapsody was nothing more than their simple their simple instrumental line up of Guitar, Bass, Piano and Drums. However, they played them like they were something completely new and in doing so; Queen delivered a new revolution of rock music. Thrown into the period of glam, it was no surprise when Queen s elegance earned them a glam rocker tag. The title of the song has a powerful ideology. The word Bohemian could be traced to the practice of an untraditional lifestyle. I believe the song has something to do with Freddie coming out as a homosexual. In that era, it was not a normal thing and therefore majority of people were against it. Interestingly enough the song has not got a chorus, but just

Like other online grocers, Grocery Gateway s strategy is all about the last mile of service. Online grocers sell groceries over the Internet and deliver them directly to the door. In this sense, groceries are used to initiate the customer relationship and create a pipeline to the home. The online grocer then leverages this pipeline to introduce complimentary products to the consumer.2 What is attractive to consumers is that the online grocery store is open 24 hours, 7 days a week, and that there is greater simplicity in clicking a mouse to get the food you want over that of trekking down to a physical store and pushing a grocery cart. Though prices are competitive with supermarkets, price is not the value proposition for the online grocery shopper. Rather, for the consumer, shopping online for groceries is a time saver. Consumers generally busy people with not enough time on their hands are looking to п¬Ѓnd easier and quicker ways to do chores, like grocery shopping. History and Origin of the Vatican City History of Vatican and Vatican City: Vatican is regarded as the most ancient religious and political institution that exists in the modern world because of its antique history. In addition to being the most ancient political and religious institution, Vatican is the seat of independent, sovereign, and Free State of Catholic Church s Government. Actually, this institution is the shrewdest diplomatic political power across the globe with its diplomatic quality being the most important worldwide. The shrewdness of its diplomatic political power originates from its inclusion of the three major aspects of the Catholic Church i.e. sovereignty, independence, and freedom. While it s diplomatic quality is significant around the globe, its independence as a State is regarded as one of the newest (Manhattan, 1949, p.11). Notably, the diplomatic and political power of Vatican can be understood through tracing its history and the history of the Vatican City. Origin of the Vatican City: Vatican City was formed on February 11, 1929 following the signing of the Treaty of Conciliation by Benito Mussolini and the cardinal Pietro Gasparri, the State Secretary of Pius XI. While the signing of the Lateran Pacts between Italy and the Holy See paved way for the formation of this city, the pacts were ratified on June 7, 1929 ( Vatican City in the Past , n.d.). Since then, the nature of the Vatican City as a sovereign State that is different from the Holy See is widely recognized under

  • 49. Salad Bowl Analysis The immigration is always an important issue throughout the history of the United States. The government is struggling to assist the diversity of cultures and ethnic groups because immigrants continuously bring their traditions into America. This raised the metaphor melting pot and salad bowl, which described the term of assimilation and integration of the many different cultures in America. Today, the United Statessociety no longer matches the melting potmetaphor; it shifts to salad bowl metaphor. This concept is different from the notion of the melting pot. The salad bowl means that the immigrants keep their unique customs and cultures, the integration degree of immigrant merge into the American community, and the youth immigrant generations recognize their heritage of origin culturein the mainstream of American culture. For these reasons, the salad bowl metaphor would be more appropriate to America society these days. The term melting pot was generally used in the United States after it was used as a metaphor for describing an association of cultures and ethnicities in 1908. Many different types of people blend together as one in a society. America is always a nation of immigration, based on the history element of the country. The generations of immigrants have mixed together. They have refused their origin traditions and cultures to become totally assimilated into American society. That was why American citizen considered United States was a melting pot. In contrast to the soup bowl theory, there is the emergence of salad bowl metaphor. It asserts that the integration of the many different cultures of the United States people combines like a big salad bowl. It means many cultures, languages, and ethic co exist in peaceful, like all kinds of ingredients in a bowl of salad. It mixes together, but it does not dissolve into one. Although the melting pot theory seems to be outdated in American society today, however, there are still a lot of conservatives to favor their views on this metaphor. They think the fusing of different ethnic group is essential for building a cohesive society. Immigrants should give up their origin tradition national identity, and they try to entirely assimilate
