1. The Outsiders Theme Essay
Crafting an essay on the theme of "The Outsiders" poses a unique set of challenges. Firstly,
delving into the intricate layers of the novel demands a thorough understanding of its characters,
plot dynamics, and underlying messages. Analyzing the themes requires a keen eye for detail and
an ability to connect seemingly disparate elements to unearth the deeper meanings.
The struggle intensifies when attempting to articulate the central themes coherently. Balancing
insightful analysis with clarity and coherence is a constant challenge. The need to provide
evidence from the text to support arguments further complicates the task, demanding an in-depth
exploration of the narrative.
Moreover, navigating the nuances of literary analysis requires a nuanced understanding of
symbolism, motifs, and literary devices employed by the author. It involves interpreting the
author's intentions and connecting them to broader socio-cultural contexts, making the essay not
just an exploration of the book but a reflection on society itself.
Additionally, conveying personal insights while maintaining an objective tone can be a tightrope
walk. Striking the right balance between subjective interpretation and an objective analysis can
be challenging for writers, as it necessitates critical thinking and a nuanced approach.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the theme of "The Outsiders" demands a combination of
literary acumen, critical thinking, and the ability to articulate complex ideas effectively. It's not
merely summarizing the plot or characters but unraveling the layers of meaning woven into the
narrative. For those seeking assistance, it's worth noting that there are resources available, such as

2. June Iparis Narrative
About ten years ago, I lost some of the most important people in my life. My
mother and my older brother John were killed by some goddy trots who worked
for the Republic and a girl who I m not really sure what exactly happened but I
know without a doubt I ve been searching for her, for a very long time. Now here I
am standing two feet away from that girl, the girl who I lost a long time ago and I
m so certain its her. June her name is, June Iparis. The familiarity in her name
sends flashes of scenes through my mind, very similar to the dreams and
nightmares I ve had. As the doctors said I would, I have regained most of my
memories overtime and everyday for the past 10 years I ve had flashes and dreams of
my past many including a girl but I
3. Emission Standards of the Diesel Engine
Diesel engines began to be used in automobiles in the 1930s. They are used in many
trucks, ships, buses and small passenger cars in Europe right now.[1] Many believe
that diesel engine are heavier, noisier and generate black smock when running.
However, diesel engine s unique advantages can make them the engine of the future
for vehicles. And with much more stringent standard to take effect in the future,
diesel engines emissions and control technologies are still very much in the forefront.
This paper will cover the developments in diesel vehicles emission regulation and
control technology for NOx, particulate matter (PM) for diesel vehicles.
Regulation
Right now there are two kinds of emission standard in US. One of them is federal
standards established by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and another
is California standards. Since the State of California are facing more severe air
pollutant problem than most of other state, they choose to adopt its own emission
regulations. The California Air Resources Board (ARB) establish engine and vehicle
emission regulations that are often more stringent than the federal rules. Other states
can make their own decision to either implement the federal emission standards or to
use California requirements.
After the Clean Air Act Amendments (CAAA) on 1990, two sets of standards have
been defined for light duty vehicles. Tier I standard was published in 1991 and was
phased in between 1994 and 1997. Tier II standard was

5. DATABASE AND DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Database From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia A database is an organized
collection of data. The data are typically organized to model relevant aspects of
reality in a way that supports processes requiring this information. For example,
modeling the availability of rooms in hotels in a way that supports finding a hotel
with vacancies. DBMS stands for Database Management System. In short, a DBMS
is a database program. Technically speaking, it is a software system that uses a
standard method of cataloging, retrieving, and running queries on data. The DBMS
manages incoming data, organizes it, and provides ways for the data to be modified
or extracted by users or other programs. Database management systems (DBMSs) are

Its distinguishing feature is that the schema, viewed as a graph in which object
types are nodes and relationship types are arcs, is not restricted to being a
hierarchy or lattice. 3. Relational model The relational model for database
management is a database model based on first order predicate logic, first
formulated and proposed in 1969 by Edgar F. Codd.[1][2] In the relational model
of a database, all data is represented in terms of tuples, grouped into relations. A
database organized in terms of the relational model is a relational database.
Diagram of an example database according to the Relational model.[3] In the
relational model, related records are linked together with a key . The purpose of the
relational model is to provide a declarative method for specifying data and queries:
users directly state what information the database contains and what information they
want from it, and let the database management system software take care of
describing data structures for storing the data and retrieval procedures for answering
queries. Most relational databases use the SQL data definition and query language;
these systems implement what can be regarded as an engineering approximation to
the relational model. A table in an SQL database schema corresponds to a predicate
variable; the contents of a table to a relation; key constraints, other constraints, and
SQL queries correspond to predicates. However, SQL databases, including DB2,
6. It is easy to say that species are constantly changing,...
It is easy to say that species are constantly changing, and branching off into totally
new species. But how do we know where the species originate? Phylogenies help to
show us how all kinds of species are related to each other, and why. These
relationships are put into what can be called a cladogram, which links species to
common ancestors, in turn showing where, when, how, and why these ancestors
diverged to form new species. Without phylogenies, it would be extremely difficult to
put species in specific categories or relate them to one another. Along with
phylogenies can come conflict on which species should be related to one another.
This conflict causes many hypotheses and experiments, which can lead to
phylogenetic retrofitting,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The parareptile hypothesis is taken back at least two decades. It has recently been
rediscovered and contradicted by parsimony. Bayesian inferences support this
parareptile conclusion, but parsimony concludes the idea of turtles being a sister
group to pareiasaurs, which is an anapsid group, including Eunotosaurus. To test these
hypothesis, a multitude of data is compiled to observe the stability behind the
inferences made. In this article, one main experiment was discussed through the
collection and analysis of two retrofitted matrices, phylogenetic analyses, and
molecular scaffolds. In one matrice, Eunotosaurus was added to a diapsid focused
data set, while turtles were added to an anapsid focused data set. The diapsid sets
included a broad sampling of diapsids, which placed turtles as sisters to
sauropterygians. The anapsid set, on the other hand, included a broad sampling of
anapsids, especially parareptiles. Turtles were not included in the anapsid set. When
the experiment moves on to the phylogenetic analysis, Bayesian inferences and
parsimony were brought into the mix. After these analyses, the experiment finally
includes molecular scaffolding. The effect of molecular scaffolding was to see where
extant linneages interact with molecular phylogenies. The, the Bayesian and
parsimony analyses were again repeated with these backbone constraints while
everything else is indifferent. The idea
7. Taylor Swift Rhetorical Analysis
Everyone can relate to at least one Taylor Swift song. Whether you relate it to
another person in your life, current world issues, or even your pet. She has written
numerous songs that people of various ages can relate to. This is only one of the
countless reasons that Taylor Swift is one of my favorite artists.
Taylor Swift s music is one of my passions; the other is politics. Having two passions
is vast, but combining my two passions is even better. Being able to relate to so
many songs that Swift has written, I have also been able to relate them to many of
the presidential candidates that want to be America s next president. From Carly
Fiorina to Ted Cruz to Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump, everyone in politics has that

Taylor Swift s song, Dear John , has Ted Cruz written all over it. When Speaker of
the House, John Boehner, was asked about Cruz s campaign, Boehner simply replied
with putting his middle finger up. After hearing about this incident, it did get me to
wondering if Swift had actually written this song for Ted Cruz.
Next, we have the other woman who is running for the presidency, Hillary Clinton.
This is not the first time we have heard Hillary Clinton s name. She was the First
Lady for eight years and the Secretary of State from 2009 to 2013. In saying all of
this, the only Taylor Swift song that could accurately represent Clinton would be We
Are Never Ever Getting Back Together. We have seen Clinton as First Lady and
Secretary of State, we do not want to see her as President.
In contrast to Hillary Clinton, there is Donald Trump, who is not a politician.
Trump is a real estate mogul, but has entered the presidential race in full swing and
means serious business. If Donald Trump was represented by a Taylor Swift song,
he would be Shake It Off. Trump has taken many blows from the media and the
candidates running against him. With hearing these vile remarks, Trump has been
able to shake it off and shake right into being the leading GOP candidate. Who
knows, maybe Donald Trump will be shaking it off all the way into the White

Perception People perceive the same situation in their own ways. We learn from the
flow of information through our five senses: sight, sound, smell, touch and taste.
However, each of us receives, organises and interprets the received sensory
information in an individual way using short and long term memory as part of the
process. ВЎВ§Perception is the process by which people select, organize and
interpret information to form a meaningful, whole picture of the world. It is
influenced by selective exposure, selective distortion, and selective retention.ВЎВЁ
(Kotler, Brown, Adam Armstrong, 2004) Selective exposure means that brand
marketers work especially hard to attract the consumerВЎВ¦s attention. For instance,
bra stylists are working very hard on this to capture female consumersВЎВ¦ attention
to purchase their products. TriumphВЎВ¦s bra designers have long begun to blend
Western and Chinese influences to create fascinating effects in order to gain
consumerВЎВ¦s awareness. Selective distortion refers to the tendency of people to
adapt information to personal meanings. Brand marketers always try to understand
the mindsets of consumers and how they will affect interpretations of advertising and
sales information. However, people have a propensity to interpret information
9. Exotic Animals In Captivity
People around the world have been to a zoo and saw all the animals in their
artificial habitats. Most have been told that some of the animals are not native in the
area, knowing that they ve been able to see and learn about a non native animal they
would say that they are fascinated to see such a creature. Although there are some
people who would disagree with animals in captivity is wrong, which is why these
pieces of evidence claim otherwise.
Supporters of this topic believe that animals in captivity helps saves animals from
extinction. Leslie Ann Rush, an animal lover who raises exotic animals, believes
that by caring for these captive bred creatures she is doing her part to help keep
lemurs alive on Earth, and she cares for her animals with a profound commitment that
consumes her days and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some exotic animal owners spend thousands a year on fresh meat, for carnivores
that dine daily on raw steak, for primates omnivores with complex dietary needs for
snakes, which eat rat after rat. A four year old was mauled by a mountain lion his
aunt kept as a pet, a 55 year old woman s face disfigured by her friends lifelong
chimpanzee, and an 80 year old man attacked by a 200 pound kangaroo(Wild
Obsession).
Although my opponents believe that exotic animals don t make good pets, this isn
t valid because, exotic animals are special and are supposed to be hard to take care
of. Instead, we should let people with the knowledge to care for these animals, take
care of them as pets because, like Leslie Ann Rush, she actually knows how to care
for her exotic animals.
In the end, I believe that animals in captivity is good, because it helps fund
organizations, saves animals from extinction, and helps educate people. We all should
educate ourselves on exotic animals and their needs, we should also force permits to
keep/capture exotic
10. A Brief Note On Golf s Environmental Impact
Under Par: Golf s Environmental Impact
Owners of golf courses are currently facing challenges which threaten their very
existence. Whether it is from a dwindling participation rate, water shortages, or
environmental concerns due to fertilizer and pesticide runoff, courses must adapt
their strategy for a new reality. It is clear from statistics that participation in golf is
dwindling which will threaten the existence of golf courses. Coupled with an
increased awareness of the impact on the environment, this could prove to be an
insurmountable obstacle if golf courses are not quick to adapt. In states such as
California and Texas, drought conditions have forced communities to look at the
significant water usage of golf courses in order to reduce unnecessary
consumption. Another significant cause for concern is the effect of pesticide and
fertilizer runoff on the local watershed. Clearly there are very real and sometimes
devastating effects when the pesticides and fertilizers used by golf courses find
their way into unintended areas such as lakes, rivers and ponds. However, it is not
all bad news for golf courses. There are positive environmental impacts such as
preserving a home for birds and other animals, reducing urban sprawl, and the
growth of vegetation and trees. These challenges facing golf course owners are very
real, and in order to continue to attract players and avoid costly legislation, golf
courses must embrace water conservation efforts, reduce their release of
11. The Hidden Characteristics Of The Renaissance
The Baroque style is the product of the obsession with perfection from the
Renaissance and the strangeness of the Mannerists. These two periods combine with
each other and what you get is the Baroque. The Renaissance had hidden meanings
and complex theologies hidden in their paintings. The Baroque simplified that
formula and made art more accessible to people, no hidden meanings and no hidden
symbols. Not only did it have this but the Baroquejust did not simply tell a story but
a moment in time from that story. This moment in time technique not only allowed
for some showmanship in skill but allowed the viewer to take part of the moment
with usually and empty space for the viewer. Because of this does the viewer
remain just that, a viewer or do we become part narrative? This interaction between
the viewer and the art is no longer like the outside and miniscule feeling one gets
from looking at the perfection of Renaissance masters. And it is definitely not like the
strange exchange and confusion that comes from the harsh mannerists. But rather, the
Baroque offers the viewer a space in the scene, an interaction. It is often warm and
inviting when appropriate and allows even uneducated people to understand what is
going on. The Baroque has more of a human quality than a divine one. The use of
spot lighting by certain artists such as Caravaggioand his followers allow the story to
become the most important and the interaction between the viewer and the art
becomes a story of its
12. Dowbt Of Future Foes
It is clear that there is a prominent struggle in the balance of power between the
monarch and the subject that is represented in the two early modern texts of the
play Edward II by the playwright Christopher Marlowe and the poem The dowbt of
future foes exiles my present joye by Queen Elizabeth. Each monarch in each text
is losing support from their once loyal followers and subjects by intertwining
public responsibility and personal desire. In this essay I will use these texts to
demonstrate the monarch s power struggles as a result of their subjects. I will also
use secondary sources of criticism to confirm the points that are made in this essay.

Queen Elizabeth... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is also the nobles, especially Mortimer Senior and Mortimer Junior. The nobles
see Gaveston as an inappropriate preoccupation for the King which leads to his
authority and the balance of power being fragile. His preoccupation with Gaveston
has lead to the King think of nothing but Gaveston (2.2.7) and still his mind runs on
his minion (2.2.4). King Edward s struggle to balance power has lead to the
weakening of the army and therefore England is at threat to foreign invasion. In the
words of critic David Stymeist in the text the Status, Sodomy, and the Theater in
Marlowe s Edward II , Christopher Marlowe dramatizes the history of the English
King who is accused of allowing his homoeroticism to take precedence over his
political and social obligations (P 235). Many critics have claimed that this play is
a play of sodomy. However if we look at the Oxford English Dictionary, sodomy is
defined as any form of sexual intercourse considered to be unnatural. Now chiefly:
anal intercourse (OED). There is no evidence in the play that confirms that both King
Edward and Gaveston had any form of sexual intimacy. However, critic Mario
DiGangi writes in the text Marlowe, Queer Studies and Renaissance Homoeroticism
that Sodomite meant more than a man who has sex within another man . The label
also meant that this particular man was treasonous, monstrous,

In Part II: The Private Investigator of The Longman Anthology of Detective Fiction
it says, The original world of the hard boiled detective was clearly a male one,
where women were suspect and dangerous. (as cited in Mansfield Kelley and
Marchino, 2005, p.207). In the cases of Double Indemnity, directed by Billy Wilder,
and The Gutting of Couffignal, wrote by Dashiell Hammett, this is exactly the case.
Both are, in the case of Double Indemnity based off of, hard boiled detective stories
in which the women are cunning, manipulative, and dangerous. The women are
strategically oriented, have little regard to others, and are selfish. They also blindly
rely on the feelings and actions of others. They re overconfident and proud of their

In Double Indemnity, Phyllis relied on Walter, the insurance company, and Keyes
(the investigator). She relied that Walter would actually carry out the murder, that he
wouldn t rat her out, and wouldn t get caught. She relied on the insurance company
to accept the insurance claim and not to pursue a detailed investigation. Indirectly,
she relied on Keyes to not figure out that she was involved or that a murder even
took place. In The Gutting of Couffignal, the princess relied on the investigator and
(not so blindly) her people. She had to trust that the investigator wouldn t figure out
her plan and would follow along with it as well. She had to trust that her people
would do as they were instructed. Both trusted fate as well. Regardless of their
methodical nature, their plans weren t as thoroughly planned as they thought; leaving

14. Two Reasons Why Mother Teresa Is A Hero
Attention Grabbing Device
Imagine people everywhere, lining alleyways. Homeless families begging for food
and diseases running rampant on the streets. These are the slums of Calcutta, India.
Life in this city is miserable, desperation pervades this hopeless environment. But
within there s still some optimism to be found. Strangely enough, it comes in the
form of a woman, barely five feet tall, and armed with nothing but kindness.
Thesis
Mother Teresa is a hero because she is selfless, courageous, and has strong leadership
abilities.

Mother Teresa was born in Skopje, Macedonia in 1910. At the age of 18 she joined a
group of nuns in Ireland. After months of training with the Sisters of Loreto, she

Mother Teresa gave up everything just to help those less fortunate. For example, in
1979 she won a Nobel Peace Prize with $192,000 worth of prize money and instead
of keeping she used it to create multiple homes for victims of leprosy. She was
commemorated with the highest honor, yet she was still thinking of others.
The second reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she is courageous. For
instance, many people could have shunned her for helping the unwanted, but she
found the courage and strength in her heart to help those in need. Also, she helped a
particular group that had leprosy, which is a very contagious disease. She set up
many clinics in order to help these people even though she put herself at risk of
catching the disease.
The final reason Mother Teresa is a hero is because she was a strong leader. This
trait can be exemplified because she had a relentless focus on her mission helping
the poor. She effectively implemented her plan and cared for the people of
Calcutta. Mother Teresa was a situational leader, for example she helped people
according to their situation, if they were starving she would give them food, if they
were homeless she would provide a home for them to say at, or if they were sick she
helped them to heal. If a situation came, she would find a solution to help them in

Pepes ever created. I ve based my Pepe on one of the first ones ever made, created by

smudging paint. I used the principles of variety, line, shape, contrast and emphasis,
and infused them into my project to create something I can describe as
magnificent. My favorite thing about the Rave Pepe is the silly randomness of the
markings, lines and dots spread across his face. To me, the liveliness and energy
that I ve captivated in my project is astonishing. Since there is only one of its kind,
my Rave Pepe is truly one of the rarest Pepes of them
16. Roman City Planning Essay
Roman City Planning
The design and structure of a city is as important as the people who dwell within her
walls. The placement of streets and the structures built there are carefully plotted for
optimal use. Foot and cart traffic, fire hazard, and access to water were all key
factors in city planning. Eventually the Romans had fine tuned their design principals
in such an advantageous way that they molded all of their city states similarly.
Rome developed from the combination of small farming communities around a
hilltop fortification. The city, which was founded before regularized city planning,
consisted of a confusing maze of crooked and gnarled streets. The focal point of
which was the city s forum, the main meeting ... Show more content on

Towards the city s heavily trafficked center the Roman Forum was constructed for
convenient easy access of all the citizens. The foreground of the forum was
occupied by a paved square with monuments to famous citizens. The temple to the
Divine Julius, dedicated in 29 BCE to the deified Caesar, built in a Hellenistic
style, is located in the background on the left; to the right is the temple of Vesta and
the house of the Vestal Virgins, guardians of the everlasting flame; further to the
right is the temple of the Dioscuri, Castor and Pollux dedicated in 6 CE Here the

17. Educator Pursue Mentoring
If an educator mentors his or her successor, that will ensure success of the department
for the sake of future students and the patients. If the skills are taught to the mentee
and evaluated for competencies, then even in the event of that educator moving on to
the higher level, department can function well with new person in place, which
would be the mentee. Mentoring can be empowering to the mentee as the leader let
go of some of his or her reins and let the mentee expand the skillset (Federer, 2014).
Patience is the biggest virtue mentor could possess while mentee is learning.

Leaving behind a well groomed successor goes in favor of the leader rather than
posing a threat. The leaders should plan their exit strategy so well that they can pass
the baton to the next generation without missing a beat, hence, making the transition
as smooth as possible. If the succession and mentoring plan is well orchestrated then
the organization would be thinking about the leader and thanking him or her for the
foresightedness. Research shows that billion dollar companies have succession
planning as their top three priorities and successful health care leaders should absorb
lessons from other successful organization to position themselves in the global
competitive landscape as a cutting edge organization, which is ready to meet
tomorrow s challenges head on. Even though the health care should not be treated as
a business, but leaders should possess the entrepreneurial acumen. A leader is
considered successful not when he or she is well educated, and result oriented, but
the one who can put together a cohesive team, move things forwards with his or her
far sightedness. A leader is followed if he or she is passionate, wise, trustworthy,
generous, and courageous enough to challenge the status quo by taking calculated

The voice of Jorge Medina, an afro Bolivian advocate echoed from the radio next to
her. The government has taken significant steps to recognize the Afro Bolivian
population in the census, but more work still needs to be done. In many of rural
areas Afro Bolivians still do not have access to quality education and even learning
their history in schools. Many Afro Bolivian farmers do not have clean water in
their homes or do not have bathrooms. Just then my host mother looked up at me.
Slightly embarrassed I asked, her where can I use the bathroom. She pointed to a
bush nearby, make sure you go quickly and duck so no one sees you. Before doing
fieldwork in the Afro Bolivian community of KalaKala, I did not anticipate asking
the questions like where would I use the bathroom? Would there be clean running
water to drink? In fact, these questions were far from my mind. My notebook was
filled with other questions that focused on the emerging Afro Bolivian movement
and with notes of interviews with Afro Bolivian activist in the city of La Paz. I was
intrigued by their answers that were filled with hope that change was coming. I

Some organizational theories could explain the Enron s failure. Looking at the
organizational structure and management of Enron, The structures were flat before
the bureaucratic structure developed, then the bureaucratic structures developed in
order to increase control. There were vertical structures where there was high level of
control and according to theories the organizational circle is moving back to flat
structure. In Enron Corporation, internally it had such a highly decentralized financial
control and decision making structure that made it impossible to get a clear view on
the corporations operations and activities. Along with a ... Show more content on

This was a fertile environment for corruption. There should be shared reliability for
success of a business, however, in Enron because of conflict of interest there was no
shared reliability. Even the external auditor, Arthur Andersen had a conflict of interest.
Currently, most organization believes in the human relations movement. This is a
form of management that gives importance to individuals and their unique
capabilities in the organization. Each person is unique and her input should be
considered as valuable. However, in Enron, the suggestions and objections of
hundreds of accountants and finance personnel were turned down abruptly, the
employees that objected were abused and their voices suppressed. Those that were
persistent with their objections to shady financial accounting practices were even
threatened with dire consequences. Since there was no matching between the inputs
of the employees and that of the company, the situation was ready for failure.
From another perspective management in business and organization is to get people
together to achieve the desired goals and objectives. In case of Enron, the goals and
objectives would have referred to the legitimate business objectives of the firm.
However, in case of Enron the objectives and goals of the company were to hide
large debts, billions of dollars losses, and instead show large profits. Each function of
management namely, planning, organizing,

Development
Erik Erikson believed that a person s personality developed through these eight
stages. Trust Vs. Mistrust, Autonomy Vs. Shame and Doubt, Initiative Vs. Guilt,
Industry Vs. Inferiority, Identity Vs. Role Confusion, Intimacy Vs. Isolation,
Generativity Vs. Stagnation, and Integrity Vs. Despair. During each stage will
resolve negative or positive, with each outcome it will affect your ability to deal
with the next one. According to Erik Erikson, you must resolve positively before you
can master another stage. For an example, if you fail to meet the first stage Trust vs.
Mistrust, than you will possibly fail the subsequent stages. Now Erik Erikson focused
on personality development but, Jean Piagetfocused on cognitive development.

23. The Importance Of Art In Renaissance Art
As the skills of artists progressed during the Renaissance, so did the applications of
their work. Artists began combining media to create wholistic themes within a
space to evoke specific meanings to those who visited these spaces. This
integration of architecture and other artistic media took many different forms all
in an effort to capture the the array skills possessed by artist as well as the
reputation and story behind those who commissioned the spaces. The Camera
Picta which translates to painted room in the Palazzo Ducale by Andrea Mantegna
is one example of these wholistic spaces. The space was commissioned by Mantua
s ruling family the Gonzagas, specifically Ludovico Gonzaga. The dynasty had
been a stable one since the 14th century and the family wanted to showcase their
powerful reign to those who visited their palace. They asked their court artist
Mantegna to completely cover the walls of the entertainment room with portraits of
the family. Ludivico is shown with his wife and family members seated around him
in perspective painting that gives an illusion depth of an extension of the space. This
was done through the use of fictive architectural features of vaulting, curtains, and

Mad About Me
The search of truth was a prominent topic and a subject of vast interest that spread
through eighteenth century Europe in general and Spain in a very specific way.
During this Siglo de las luces (century of lights) not all of the Spanish social and
institutional structures welcomed this new attitude towards knowledge and
enlightenment, especially the Inquisition who had, with the Church, a very
influential power over the pueblo; however, Ilustrados wanted to call the nobility
back to a sense of social responsibility setting an exemplary class for others.
As a man from the pueblo living in a circle of enlightened, Francisco Goya was in the

Or so they said. What eventually happened was that this adoption of a foreign sub
culture from the nobility ended up denaturing the majismo from its fundamental
morals, stopping at the outer physical appearance of the sub culture and were left
with a frivolous, afrancesada version of majismo.
Back in 1776, Goya painted majas and majos in daily life situations ranging from
hard work to leisure activities. These paintings were known as cartoons, and were
meant to be templates for tapestry. The subject of majas and majos in their everyday
life used to amuse the Royal family who were fond of contemporary tapestry, they
used to talk about these scenes during their meetings with guests. There was still a
distance between majas, majos and the enlightened elite
But when the conservative movement has become more common and more powerful
in Spain, a more theatrical version of the majismos emerged within the aristocracy.
A version where the majismo is stripped away from its essence to become a
performance of debauchery. The Duchess of Alba is said to compete with Queen
Maria Luisa over her cortego of majos who accompanied her. Also the famous
paintings of the Maja Desnuda and the Maja Vestida are commissions for the
Marquis of Godoy, a minister with a libertine spirit who saw majas beyond their

college students specifically, sometimes eating a decent meal is put to the side. Fast

Other Factors Contributing to the Flood
The Arun and Sunkosi sub catchments of the upper catchment area contribute to the
intensity of floods, with the former possessing highest surface runoff potential
(Wakode et al., 2013). As the Kosi River exits at the base of the mountain, the ability
to transport sediment is dampened, leading to deposition of sediment and aggradation
(Kale, 2008). High silt content in the river was due to soil erosion and landslides and
the presence of narrow gorges (Wakode et al., 2013). The construction of the eastern
embankment increased aggradation on the western side of the river, making the
embankment vulnerable to breaching (Sinha, 2009). Furthermore, Chakraborty et al

They are more deadly than ordinary floods because they intensify the moment the
dams and embankments experience failures and breaches respectively (Singh and
Kumar (2013); Singh and Kumar, 2017). The high discharge of water from rivers
can cause extensive damage to life and property (Singh Kumar, 2017), both of which
include livestock, croplands and public utilities (i.e. electricity, telephones, and roads)
(Singh Kumar, 2013). For instance, a lot of agricultural land was rendered
uncultivable because the flood had transported and deposited excess sediment
(Chakraborty et al., 2010).
Singh and Kumar (2013) noted that millions of people in India are affected by
flash floods yearly. In this regard, it can be deduced that countless people were
displaced, many villages were flooded, and Bihar s infrastructure was compromised
(Kale, 2008). While there have been no reliable estimate of deaths and loss of
properties for the flood event, it can be said that more than 30 million people were
affected (Sinha, 2009). The 2008 flood was an unprecedented human misery due to
increased population density (Kale, 2008).
Short term Solution Set in Motion
Sometime in January 2009, the breach in the eastern embankment was repaired

former stream channel, with the river being once again confined (Sinha, 2009), as if

29. Essay on Medieval Art
In the art world, the medieval periods were traditionally though to be the
unproductive phase of Europe between the decline of Rome and the Renaissance.
Our modern feelings toward medieval art are far more appreciative. The main intent
of Medieval art was to express Christianity which was also a common bond between
a wide spread and diverse Europe. For this reason most of the art found from
medieval times originated in monasteries and churches. European art during the
Middle Agescan be divided into four periods. These four periods include Celto
Germanic art which ranged from 400 to 800 A.D. and was important in metal work.
Carolingian art ranged from 750 to 987 A.D. overlapping 50 years of the Celto

A major difference between the two was that Carolingian architects used stone only
for important buildings such as churches and castles. Their buildings and plans for
unfinished buildings show that a major factor in Carolingian architecture was length.
This was both appealing to the eye and practical, leaving room for extra altars and
separate entries. The Carolingian style is of small dimensions. Most of this style
pulls its influence from Byzantine artwork. An explanation for the sudden change
from Celto Germanic styling can be attributed to the new minuscule form of writing,
remarkable for its clarity and form (Pioch). Metal work from this time period is rare
although writings tell us that goldsmiths and enamel workers remained active.
Romanesque The art of the Romanesque period was characterized by the revival of
sculptures and fresco painting. These were common elements of architecture. Along
with those architectural advancements the period produced frequent examples of
realism as well as a heightened emphasis on emotion and fantasy. The crusades acted
as a main contributor to this time period lending more religious and revolutionary
imagery. Examples of Romanesque sculpture are dated back to the last decade of the
eleventh century and then first decades of the twelfth. The primary source of artistic
patronage was provided by the monastic

An investigation on the use of ink and charcoal as a medium, as well as movement

The works of Patricia March are predominantly charcoal works, with smaller aspects
of ink, whilst portraying insight of character, as well as how the body moves over a
period of time. March uses the perception of a figure moving, portraying the figure
on one picture plane; but moving, as if this were over a period of time. Figures
appear walking or picking up an object and this is portrayed as one character
becoming three. In each different movement the figure is in a different position, as
if moving like in a real life situation. This reinforces the name of her series, Time, as
it literally perceives a figure or a few figures and their movements over a period of
time. March studied a master in cinematography. She was interested in movement and
time, so since, she tried to apply her vision about cinema into drawings. The

work and the direction of which I took when researching other artists.

In Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson s novel Why Nations Fail, they describe

literature provides an accessible form of education that allows for people to not only

it sets a foundation for the use of new technology and provides room for change. An

34. The Nature Of Theatre In EuripidesBacchae
In Bacchae, Euripides explores the nature of theatre through Dionysus confrontation
with his mortal royal family, who has denied him a place of honor as a god.
Euripides employs costume and choral narration to portray Dionysus as a director of
his own play and a patron of art, illuminating the spiritually intoxicating and
transformative nature of theatre.
The prologue introduces Dionysus, setting the scene of the drama while inviting the
audience to examine the nature of theatre through metatheatrical elements of the play.
Dionysus introduces himself to the audience and declares, I have changed from
divine to human form, and here I am (5 6). Through Dionysus disguise, Euripides
alludes to the use of theatre costume. Furthermore, at the close of the prologue,
Dionysus directs the chorus on stage:
Now come, my sacred band of women,
That came with me from the bulwark of Lydia,
Mt. Tmolus, companions in my journey from abroad.
Take up the drums, the native drums of Phrygia, the ones I discovered, I and Mother
Rhea.
(55 59)
In this moment of theatrical self consciousness, Dionysus transcends the narrative of
the story. He is a director of the play rather than the protagonist and not only guides
his religious followers, but the actors of the performance.
While theatre allows actors to assume the psyche of another character, Dionysus,
similarly, provides his worshipers the freedom to take upon a new persona and
achieve spiritual ecstasy and revelation through theatre.

By definition, tangible representations pertain to objects and photographs or
pictures that can be considered as highly iconic, or strongly resembling what they
stand for, called the referent (Bruce et al., 2016, p. 425). Moreover, tangible
representations can be employed expressively or receptively. Bruce et al. (2016)
reviewed studies on literacy for the deaf blind from 1990 to 2015. Findings
showed the role of tangible representations and technologies in improving
communicative expressiveness. Furthermore, different kinds of literacy lessons
that are normally given to prelinguistic learners who are deafblind can improve self
expression. Some examples are: 1) using daily schedules to form anticipatory skills;
2) personalized story boxes to boost access and engagement with content; 3)
experience books that enable the development of distancing (i.e. separation in time
and space between the object of representation and the referent), and 4) chances for
choice making to perform preference expression (Bruce Conlon, 2005). For effective
lessons, learners must be in a setting that promotes literacy growth. As McKenzie
(2009) pointed out, an environment that is rich in plentiful literacy resources will
benefit all kinds of learners, with or without disabilities. Books and other resources
should be in classrooms in different forms if possible, including Braille, tactile

The setting of the story itself is beyond the minds of normal people in 1944, and
when the audience was exposed to it, the definition of sci fi was reshaped. It began
with the colonization of humans on the planet of Jupiter, the largest planet, with
great atmosphere pressure. Humans live inside a Dome, and can not explore
beyond it, except if they turn themselves into another alien form. Many brave men
have transformed themselves and walked out the dome, only to disappear and
never return. Fowler, the head leader of the Dome has had enough, and decided to
send himself and his puppy out. The story is considered a science fiction because of
its imaginative concept of futuristic, space exploration and extraterrestrial life. On
top of this, the story navigates through another planet, where humanity must adapt to
the environment or die trying. The main theme in this story is persistence, never
giving up no matter the circumstances or the difficulties. This is demonstrated
throughout the whole story, for example, Stanley, the scientist said, You re going
to keep on sentencing them to death, she said. You re going to keep marching them
out face to face with Jupiter. You re going to sit in here safe and comfortable and
send them out to die. This shows that lives after lives are being lost, but Fowler
will never give up in find the answer. He said, If a few men die, but we finally
succeed, the price is small. Through the ages men have thrown away their lives on
foolish things, for foolish reasons. Why should we hesitate, then, at a little death in a
thing as great as this? This demonstrates his hunger to finding the solution, the
solution that will enable humanity to explore beyond inside the Dome. Fowler and
his men are willing to continue sacrificing themselves because they know the price is
worth it for the great evolution of mankind. The theme of the story,

Religions and cultures have their own versions of the origin stories, which are
general anecdotes or narratives in order to explain the existence and mysteries of the
universe and the human beings. And big history is also an origin story, attempting to
examine the history of the Universe from the Big Bang, explain the present and
predict the future of the universeas well as the humanbeings. One of the most
important theme found in the Big history is the idea of increasing complexity and the
term of Goldilocks conditions , Christian suggests that the universe creates
complexity when these conditions require a favorable environment, which is neither
too hot nor too cold, thus providing just the required environment necessary for
complexity to take place. These conditions found in the dissimilar thresholds
including the creation of the universe and the formation of the stars, the early human
life and the modern epoch.
The creation of the universe and the formation of the stars
To understand the history of the Universe, it is inevitable to conduct a thorough
analysis that involves a survey of the origin of the universe. As complex creatures, we
are driven by a desire to understand how the universe advances in complexity (Grinin,
2013). Understanding the universe also requires an understanding why complexity
results in vulnerability and fragility. To have an understanding of the universe, it is
required that we go back to the beginning of time, an estimated 13.8 billion
38. The Aftermath Of Colonial Rule On Sub Saharan Africans
The aftermath of colonial rule on Sub saharan Africans has been debilitating. It is
present in the statistics, cultural changes, politics, and the historical unrest in the post
colonial state. European colonists concentrated on the export of Africa s resources,
production of cash crops, and profit gained by displacement of ethnic groups, with no
focus on African development. In fact, the complete disregard for African nations
lead to modern day dependency on foreign economy, hindering Africaeven in its
emerging independence. W.O. Maloba explains, Economically, colonialismhad linked
Africa tightly to the world capitalist system dominated by Europe and later the USA.
African countries, it needs to be repeated, produced raw materials and imported
selected manufactured goods each largely determined by Colonial Capitalism
(Decolonization 8). Post colonization did not lead to complete independence for
many countries, including Kenya, but a new form from within: Neocolonialism, which
carries the power of colonialism under Kenyan rule. On independence and
exploitation, Maloba continues, the inherited economical institutions in many
countries do not have the capacity to lead to sustained growth development. They

Colonialism, though short lived, entrenched Africa into underdevelopment.

39. Contributions Of Braham Abraham Maslow
braham Harold Maslow (1908 1970), the 77th president of the American
Psychological Association, was widely known for his Hierarchy of Needs, a theory
of human needs that begins at the base with physiological needs that must first be
satisfied before higher level safety needs and then psychological needs become
active. The first section of the research paper explores Abraham Maslows early life:
his childhood experience, his college study, and his academic career. The second
section examines some of Abraham Maslow s key publications, in order to acquire a
comprehensive understanding of his theory. And lastly, Maslow s contribution to the
psychologyfield is discussed, as his works signified the advancement of 1960 s
humanistic psychology and served as a complement to Sigmund Freud s
psychoanalytic theory and B.F. Skinner s behaviorism.

40. Coloring Of Coloring Books For Children
Through the activity of coloring books, children can enjoy themselves and have fun.
But another wonderful benefit of coloring for children, is the opportunity to improve
focus and coordination. Improving the ability to sit and focus can carry over into
many other areas of a child s life. One task that can help improvefocus for a child is
coloring in an activity book. Another area that coloring can improve upon is hand
to eye coordination. Coloring can be a simple activity or more complex activity
depending on the images chosen to color. This can greatly assist in improving focus
and hand to eye coordination for a child. Improving these areas of development for a
child through coloring can greatly benefit other areas in a child s life.
Improving Focus through Coloring
Many people struggle everyday with keeping focused on chosen tasks, adults and
children alike. But a relaxing and easy task that can help improve focus for children
is coloring. Coloring also gives children the opportunity to focus on an activity that
requires planning and strategy. It can be a task that can be fun and extremely
rewarding at the same time. Coloring requires the mind to work on one thing at a
time, requiring the brain to focus. This attention to focusing on a given task can be
such an underlying reward for a child.
Coloring creates an Activity that is a Reward for Focusing on a Task
Through focusing on a task and completing that given task, children can feel a sense
of accomplishment.
41. Class Inequality Impacted Individuals On The Lower End
Of...
Many individuals in the country are struggling to make ends meet on a good day,
so what happens when disaster strikes? They are unprepared, have a harder time
recovering, and their risk and devastation are increased in the disaster. Class
inequality impacts individuals on the lower end of the scale. They have less access
to resources to prepare themselves before the disasterstrikes, and after disaster
strikes they have even less resources to recover with. Lower class individuals are
also at a higher risk of devastation during a disaster because they cannot always
escape before the disaster hits or have the potential to live in areas that are less
likely to be affected. Individuals with less resources are often times unprepared for
disasters because all of their time, money, and energy is spent on what is currently
happening. For many, they cannot afford to pay all of their bills on time and
cannot put money back for emergencies that may or may not happen. A lot of
individuals with lower incomes or no incomes are already living in places that are
unsafe, and many do not own their own homes and do not have renter s insurance
because in their opinion that is an extra unnecessary bill. Some individuals are not
healthy enough to prepare for disasters because they cannot afford health care and
can barely work enough to stay in poverty and out of homelessness. In the case of
homeless individuals, they have no resources whatsoever. If they live in shelters or on
the streets
42. Violence In The Shawshank Redemption
Released in 1994, The Shawshank Redemption is a crime and drama filled movie
under the direction of Mr. Frank Darabont. The Shawshank Redemption is one of
the best movies I have watched in my 19 years of life. This exceptional movie
displays many life lessons throughout with multiple themes that give the movie more
meaning. In the movie, you will see Andy Dufresne, Ellis Boyd Redding (or known
as Red,) Boggs, Warden Norton, Brooks Halten, and Tommy as very important
characters. This film possesses struggles of living in prison, and guilt that many
inmates feel from the crime they pursued. Most importantly, you will see friendships
formed that will last a lifetime. Hope and time are all the inmates have; and some of
them don t have the hope... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I would totally recommend this movie to anyone. From what I have told you, you
can see exactly what I am talking about. This movie has many hardships, but it
comes along with an important message. For some, they might think Andy and
Red lost so much of their lives. For others, they think they gained so much more by
going to prison. Finally, after receiving redemption their lives continue. In my
opinion, I would have liked the movie to have kept going a little bit longer so we
could see what happens next. It would have been nice if we knew what happened
next with Red and Andy. So many questions could be asked such as: did the two of
them stay out of trouble? Did the two of them ever come back to the United States?
Over all The Shawshank Redemption is a dramatic film with an excellent cast and
with exceptional themes. If anyone wanted to see a movie that will drop their jaws, I
would tell them Shawshank is the movie to watch. It truly was an amazing
43. Analysis Of The Poem Porphyria s Lover By Robert...
With so much poetry coming out of Britain it can be hard for any of it to stand out
from the rest, but Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning and A Poison Tree by
William Blake manage to stand out from other poems. These two poems differ in
structure, writing style, and voice but both have something that sticks them out from
the rest; murderers without a moral compass. While murder isn t new to poetryit is
rare to find it as nonchalant as it is in these two poems. These killers were not
killing just because they hated their victims; they were killing because they could
and the fact that a life was ended meant nothing to them. This is why these poems
stick out from the rest. The poem Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning tells the
story of two lovers who were not supposed to be and ends in the death of one of the
lovers. The poem starts with a stormy night and Porphyria, one of the two lovers,
visits her lover in a small cottage. We are given the image of her lover being angry
with her by the way he ignores her. She tries to seduce him by making her smooth
white shoulder bare (Browning 17) and pulling her lovers head against her. Porphyria
admitted that although she loved him she was too weak to give herself completely to
him. She claims she thought about him at her dinner feast which could mean that the
reason they couldn t be together was because of class differences. While she told him
what went through her mind he looked at her eyes and claimed that he realized

The process of consent should apply not only to surgical procedures but all clinical
procedures and examinations which involve any form of touching. This must not
mean more forms: it means more communication. As part of the process of
obtaining consent, except when they have indicated otherwise, patients should be
given sufficient information about what is to take place, the risks, uncertainties,
and possible negative consequences of the proposed treatment, about any
alternatives and about the likely outcome, to enable them to make a choice about
how to proceed. 5 Besides, if a person lacks mental capacity to give valid consent,
nurses caring for such a person should be involved in assessing the treatment to be
administered. However, they must be aware of the legislation regarding mental
capacity, ensuring that people who lack capacity remain at the centre of decision
making and are fully safeguarded. 6 The Mental Capacity Act (2005) offers
assistance regarding capacity . The Act applies to all aged 16 and above and to those
with learning disability, dementia, brain injury, autism and mental health issues. The
Act presumes capacity in relation to adults unless situation exists otherwise. It
requires extending all sorts of help to the person in question before drawing
conclusion that they cannot consent. Even an apparently unwise decision if is
extended by a person of full

The Political Context
Describe how the Founder s conception of the Constitution (reflected in Madison s
arguments) influenced the evolution of American public administration.
In Madison s arguments he wanted the powers in the departments to be sufficient,
flaw less, and have it where the different departments kept each other in their
appropriate position. With this being said, Madison believed that his observations
would be able to place these powers within the departments into a more proper
judgmental structure. In order to properly do this, the Founder s had to be able to
implement the proper foundation for this to be successful. Madison stated that he
believe that in order to exercise these powers in the government, each department ...

How can monetary policy and fiscal policy greatly influence the US economy?
Keynesian economics says, A depressed economy is the result of inadequate spending
. According to Keynesian the government intervention can help a depressed economy
through monetary policy and fiscal .The idea established by Keynes was that
managing the economy is a government responsibility .
Monetary policy uses changes in the quantity of money to alter interest rates, which

Aggregate spending refers to consumer purchases, business and housing investment,
government purchases of goods and services and exports net of imports . This is the
second way to add up GDP. The Federal Reserve uses monetary policy to stimulate
aggregate demand by expanding money supply and lowering interest rates, which
increases households and firms desired spending. Expansionary fiscal policy uses
changes in taxes and government spending to affect overall spending.

48. The Continual Rise Of Online Bingo
Blog 14 The continual rise of online bingo
If I asked you to think about what image summarises bingo, odds are you would
immediately think of the smoke filled bingo halls of the 60s, 70s, 80s, and 90s. For
going on 50 years bingo was a game housed locally and operated on a low level
within small communities. But as time ticked on, the game would evolve, especially
when the invention known as the Internet would come into play. Transforming this
once community housed game into a true global event, online bingo now
dominates the web as far as gambling is concerned. Before you sit down to dab on a
digital ticket or claim a no deposit bingo offer, it is worth taking a look back at what
has brought the game this far. The following address the ... Show more content on

However, as time would pass the young and fresh image it once had would fade. It
seemed that as new and exciting casino games were popularised, bingo would fade in
to the background, with only the loyalists continuing to play. By the 1960s bingo
had become a game well known for its mature audience, which sadly hampered its
progress in the decades to come.
In the 1990s the world as we know it would change, the Internet would arrive and
introduce the era of the information age. The ushering in of this new era would not
only change the way people behave, but it would shake the foundations of the bingo
industry. Taking bingo out of land based halls and putting it online, during the 2000s
online bingo would gain serious momentum thanks to free bing offers. Millions
would migrate to the new format, as its benefits became immediately clear to the
world.
The reason why it has become so popular is because it represented the evolution of
the game. Those who chose to play online were now no longer limited by a small
selection of games, as all the world s variants became within arms reach at new bingo
sites. Not only that, it allowed players to buy tickets from the comfort of their own
home, something that was certainly once thought impossible. Keeping faithful to the
social roots of the game, players can still interact with other players as usual, but now
it can be done without running the risk of missing any numbers at the best bingo sites.

49. How Did Rasputin Influence The Romanov Dynasty
Early 20th century Russia produced numerous influential figures. Grigori Rasputin
is one such individual. He could be considered one of the most polarizing figures
during this time. Some consider him a kind cleric. Others consider him an evil
heretic. One certainty is that Rasputin had a considerable influence on the
Romanov dynasty. Rasputin s exact date of birth is unknown, but it is estimated to
be around the 1860 s or the early 1870 s. He was born in the Serbian village of
Pokrovskoe (Frost). There is not much definitively known about his early childhood.
There are only a few anecdotal tales, some which describe him having psychic
powers. In one such story, Rasputin supposedly identified a horse thief without any
prior conviction before... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were convinced Rasputin was sent from God to save Russia from revolution
(Frost). He was then able to have greater input in domestic and foreign policies
(Morson). Despite having input, most of Rasputin s advice was ignored; however,
both the public and press greatly criticized Rasputin for the government s actions
(Quenoy and Saul). He had been, on separate occasions, described as a German
spy, a British agent, and a witting or unwitting tool of Jews intent on destroying
Holy Russia (Morson). The criticisms and conspiracies were partly due to jealousy;
he was seen as an unkempt, lowly peasant that was granted unprecedented and
unwarranted political leverage (Saul). The press attributed almost all political
decisions to Rasputin, especially decisions with poor outcomes. He was used as a
scapegoat. Rasputin s enemies also accused him of belonging to heretical sects. One
such sect, the khlysty, performed incredibly unpopular practices: self mutilation,
cannibalism, and flagellation. There was no evidence linking Rasputin to any
heretical sects, but the rumors destroyed his public reputation (Morson). Rasputin
could be considered an early victim of fake news in a world that became dizzyingly
modern (Quenoy). Despite a majority of his criticisms being unjustified, Rasputin
did abuse some of his powers. He appointed capital ministers solely based on liking
him. This did lead to an
