An Example Of Expository Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "An Example Of Expository Essay" can be quite challenging for
several reasons. Firstly, the task requires a deep understanding of the expository essay genre,
which involves presenting information, explaining a concept, or providing an analysis in a clear
and concise manner. It demands a strong grasp of the subject matter and the ability to
communicate ideas effectively.
Crafting an exemplary expository essay also involves meticulous research to gather relevant and
accurate information. The writer must sift through various sources, critically evaluate data, and
select the most pertinent details to support their thesis. This process can be time-consuming and
requires a discerning eye to distinguish reliable sources from unreliable ones.
Moreover, the challenge lies in organizing the information logically and coherently. The essay
must have a well-defined structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion.
Ensuring smooth transitions between ideas is crucial to maintaining the essay's flow and
readability.
Another aspect to consider is the need for a compelling thesis statement that encapsulates the
main argument or purpose of the essay. Crafting a thesis that is both specific and engaging
requires thoughtful consideration and often multiple revisions.
In addition, maintaining a formal and objective tone in an expository essay can be demanding.
Striking the right balance between providing information and avoiding personal bias or opinion
is essential. This requires a careful choice of language and a thorough understanding of the
audience.
In conclusion, writing an essay on the topic "An Example Of Expository Essay" is a challenging
task that demands a combination of research skills, organizational abilities, and effective
communication. It is not merely about conveying information but doing so in a manner that
engages the reader and persuasively presents the chosen topic. For those seeking assistance with

Symbolism In The Lost Thing By Shaun Tan
Within Shaun Tan s picture books The Red Tree and The Lost Thing , surrealism is
utilised to deliver the themes of hope and rejection. Visual techniques and extended
metaphors aid in the transmission of these themes. Symbolism, colour, positioning,
drawing styles, and cultural referencing are techniques used to convey the messages.
Tan utilises these techniques to help the reader realise, and interpret, for themselves
the overarching messages within in the picture books.
Throughout Shaun Tans surrealist picture books The Lost Thingand The Red Tree
the overarching theme of hope is explored. Both books implement symbolism and
positioning to reveal the extended metaphor of hope. In The Red Tree Tan uses the
symbol of a red leaf on every page to represent hope, similarly, The Lost Thing has
the symbol of a white, curvy arrow on almost every page to also symbolise hope.
Tan uses the red leaf as a metaphor to the reader that hope is always present, even if
sometimes the person cannot see it at that moment. This is represented in the nobody
understands picture where the little girl is seen in a glass bottle with a diving helmet
on, the red leaf is positioned behind her and she cannot see it; Tan also makes the
leaf a darker tone so it blends in with the background, further emphasising the notion
of hope not always being noticeable. Correspondingly, in The Lost Thing the symbol
of the white arrow is found on almost every page, however, the protagonists do not
Analysis Of Wally Obermeyer ( Head Of Obermeyer
Question One
Wally Obermeyer (head of Obermeyer, a leading manufacturer of skiwear) wanted
to discover a way of determining the best levels of production in order to make
production commitments for the upcoming 1993 1994 season. So far, predicting
production has been difficult for Wally, as the first more concrete signals of
demand do not appear until Obermeyer participates in a trade shoe in Las Vegas, not
long before production is due to begin. The products also face a short life cycle and
are only ordered once a season. Therefore determining the correct quantities based on
the most accurate estimates of demand are necessary, Furthermore, the company s
buying committee have huge disparities in each member s demand forecasts for the ...

Question Two
In order to help Wally decide which product lines to manufacture in either Hong Kong
or China, a measure of risk needs to be undertaken for all 10 product lines based on
average forecasted demand.
In order to determine what items should be produced where, a risk assessment was
conducted for all lines per the average forecast for each line. The Coefficient of
Variation (CV) was determined in order to analyse the risk associated with each line,
due to fluctuations in demand.
The CV for each parka was derived using the following formula: CV = standard
deviation/average forecasted demand. The CVs for each product line can be seen
below in Table 2.1
Table 2.1 Risk assessment for each product line
Lastly, so as to determine which lines had more associated risk, it has been decided
that any line with a CV of under 0.2 was low risk, and therefore less subject to
fluctuations in demand. Those lines are Assault, Seduced, Entice, Electra, and Gail.
Those lines with a CV of over 0.2 were considered high risk. Those product lines
were Daphne, Isis, Anita, Teri and Stephanie.
Question Three
For Wally to decide what product lines to create in which country, he must calculate
the production commitments for the plant in China. The minimum production
requirement for China is 1,200 units per line, double that of the Hong Kong plant. At
the China plant, there is
Leading Companies Berkshire Hathaway Inc.
Leading companies Berkshire Hathaway Inc. and Enron Corporation have both
formulated annual reports on the course of their business relations, To the
Shareholders of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. (2000) and Outdistance the Competition
(2000), respectively. These annual reports try to appeal to the companies audience
while also asserting how they will continue to develop their companies to increase
profits. The authors of the reports proceed by delving into how the companies have
done in the past to build a sort of trust with the reader before explaining what their
goals are and how they will accomplish those goals. The authors establish different
tones in their reports, but it s evident that their intended audience is the same ... Show

An example of this is clear in the fourth paragraph of the text; I will detail our
purchases (...) . This is a very simple, but undoubtedly effective way to connect with
the readers. Berkshire also uses humor on several occasions in the text Try to control
your excitement, Berkshire sarcastically writes in paragraph 4 after informing the
audience of different cutting edge industries that the company has entered into. The
humor, along with the clever use of pronouns, lets Berkshire build a strong ethos
appeal in their audience. This surely aids the purpose of the report simply because
Berkshire seems more trustworthy, which in turn makes the audience want to stick to
Berkshire as opposed to Enron. While Berkshire seems more intent on developing a
certain closeness to their audience, the Enron report takes a more professional
approach, focusing almost solely on its accomplishments and how they enable the
company to expand further. In other words, logos is their main method of appealing
to their audience. Beginning their report with the claim that Enron has built unique
and strong businesses that have tremendous opportunities for growth, the company
presents its audience with strong positive facts about their work and continue to do
so throughout the report, which definitely helps in establishing a strong logical
appeal with the audience. If the company has
Francisco Pizarro Essay
Who is Francisco Pizarro
Conquistador is a term that defines the soldiers and explorers of the New World.
There were many conquistadors before the discovery of the New World. However,
the most important and unforgettable conquistador was born sometime in the 1470s.
Francisco Pizarro Gonzalez, was the Spanish conquistador who was the leader of the
expedition of the Inca Empire. And behind this expedition, there is a long story that
defines a man and events that prove facts. So, who is Francisco Pizarro? According to
the facts, Francisco Pizarro was born in Trujillo, Spain. His date of birth is
unknown, but some say that it is some time in the 1470s, perhaps 1474. He was
the illegitimate son of infantry Colonel Gonzalo Pizarro, who was serving in
Navarre and the Italian campaigns and his mother was Francisca Gonzalez, who
was a poor woman and she married late and had a son who is Francisco Martin de

Even though the Inca people trusted Pizarro and gave him all their money, gold
and silver pieces were they considered them as a part of their religion. The gold
referred to the sun god, and the silver referred to the moon god. As it was mentioned
in Francisco Pizarro Duckstersm, The Inca delivered the gold and silver, but Pizarro
executed Atahualpa anyway (Francisco Pizarro Duckstersm,n.d). He did what was
in his mind. He killed more than 2000 men and captured more than 5000 as well as
Atahualpa who was a hostage. After taking what he wanted, he gave his men what
they deserve from the gold and then order to execute Atahualpa by garrote in such

The Philosophy of the American Settlers Westward...
The people of the United States who were settling westward in the early nineteenth
century viewed the Native Americans as a threat to westward expansion, and
therefore pressured their leaders to set up policies that would remove Indians. Due
to the long history various conflicts between Indians and Americans, the American
settlers were apprehensive toward the Indians, leading to the perceived need of the
removal of the Indians for their safety. Andrew Jackson s negative attitude toward
of the Indians also aroused public sentiment against them. Jackson s position as a
leader gave him more influence on the people, who knew of the battles he had won
against the Indians during his time as an Indian fighter. The early 1800s was a
period of westward expansion. The Great Migration was a time when moved
thousands of Americans moved west, curious about unexplored western lands and
wanting to acquire it. The appeal of the West grew, and settlers migrated. The ideals
of the Manifest Destiny also had surfaced, that it was pre ordained that the U.S.
expand its borders to the Pacific Ocean. The American people did not like any Indian
presence to impede their acquisition of lands westward and growth as a nation,
despite trading with them frequently (Brinkley). The Manifest Destiny was, as stated
in Cheryl D. Bohde s article Young America, ...a philosophy that led to the expulsion
of Native Americans from lands east of the of the Mississippi. Conflicts with the

Martin Luther s On Christian Liberty
Martin Luther s On Christian Liberty was written as a way to explain his theology
of justification by faith. His work was written for many different people. His
followers, people who disbelieved him and people who were also confused by his
theology. In order to make the way smoother for the unlearned, Luther sets down
two propositions. The first is A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to
none, and the second proposition is A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all,
subject to all (Luther, 2). While these two theses may seem to contradict one another
they both make perfect sense in the way individuals should lead their life. The first
proposition explains that humans are free since there is nobody controlling our...

Having faith must be the first step in being able to fulfill the commandments and be
righteous. If an individual is able to have faith and fulfill the first commandment,
You shall worship one God, then that individual will have no problem in fulfilling
the rest of the commandments. Works are not enough to glorify God, although they
are able to if faith is present (Luther, 22). Since faith can only rule in the inner man,
and since faith alone justifies, it is clear that the inner man cannot be save, justified,
or freed by any work or action at all. The works have nothing to do with the character
of the inner man (Luther,
Essay On Why Cats Are Better Pets Than Dogs
Cats are not better pets than dogs. Have you ever had that intriguing question about
whether you should get a dog or a cat as your new family member. Here are some
reasons why you should always choose to adopt a new dog, not a new cat. You will
get more exercise from owning a dog. When I go outside to bike, often my mom will
follow me to get our dogexercise, but this technique will help my mom in the long
run, because even if her motive is to wear my dog out, she s also getting exercise
and getting healthier. Dogingtonpost says it is recommended that you walk your
dog at least 15 minutes, twice a day. Mayoclinic says to aim for at least 30 minutes
of physical activity every day. These two times equal each other so if you walk
your dog for the necessary amount each day, then you yourself will also get the
necessary amount of exercise daily. Dogs are a lot easier to train. When dogs were
first bred as wild animals they would follow their pack leader, when domesticated
their leader becomes their human. When you train a dog it becomes bonded to
you, but cats, not so much. Cats are more independent when it comes to
relationships. Because cats have no notion of duty, service, or pack behaviour. In
other words, doing something for the sake of something else, or someone else, than
themselves. Says Nuno Desa. Dogs come in more shapes and sizes. Whether you are
looking for a big dog, a small dog, a hypoallergenic dog, or just a friendly dog,
chances are you won t have to much

In John Steinbeck s East of Eden, two unique families collide with one another. The
Hamilton s and the Trasks are two families who live in the Salinas Valley; each

experiences of the two families is based on the world in the late 18th and early 19th
century, however, the actions of many characters are very similar to human actions in
the present. The Trask family in particular reveals many different parts of the human
life.Throughout the story,. friendship, arrogance, depression, and love are four major
themes that give an explanation for the development of the world in the past and the

Love is one of the most prominent themes throughout the novel. From the
beginning of the story, Charles, Adam s younger brother, felt an absence of love
from their father. Later on, Cal, Adam s youngest son, feels an absence of love.
Cathy struggles with the concept of love throughout her entire life. Adam believes
he has found the true meaning of love, only to have his heart broken. Finally, Aron
Trask, Adam s youngest son, battles in his young relationship with Abra. Each of
these instances are different, but they all reveal one major thing love is something
that is different for each person, and the presence of love is something that many
people overlook. The absence of love is something that can have an extreme effect
on people. Steinbeck explains, The greatest terror a child can have is that he is not
loved, and rejection is the hell he fears. I think everyone in the world to a large or
small extent has felt rejection. And with rejection comes anger, and with anger some
kind of crime in revenge for the rejection, and with the crime guilt and there is the
story of mankind (270). This is one of the most powerful quotes in the entire story.
Steinbeck relates every aspect of mankind to the concept of
Case 3.7.1 Familial Melanoma
3.7.1 Familial melanoma
Familial melanoma is a genetic or inherited condition. This means that the risk of
having a melanoma can be passed from generation to generation in a family.
Ordinarily, each cell has two copies of each gene: one inherited from the mother and
one inherited from the father. Familial melanoma follows a dominant inheritance
pattern, in which case a mutation happens in only one copy of the gene. As every cell
has two copies of each gene, it means that a parent can potentially pass along a
copy of his or her normal gene or a copy of the mutated gene. Therefore, a child who
has a parent with a mutation has a 50% chance of inheriting that mutation. A related
person such as a brother or a parent of the person who has a mutation also has a 50%
chance of having the same mutation.
There is a certain amount of known genetic mutations associated with skin cancer.

Many sporadic melanomas are also found to have mutations or loss of expression of
this tumor suppressor gene, known to act in the same signaling pathway as the
retinoblasma cases (see 3.3 Tumor suppressor genes).
3.7.4 CDK4 (cyclin dependent kinase 4)
Mutations in this gene are responsible for an increased incidence of melanoma in a
very small amount of families. The incidence of melanoma of CDK4 is similar to
the families that have mutations in the gene CDKN2A. The gene CDK4 is a proto
oncogene that makes a protein that helps control cell division. However, when the
CDK4 gene is mutated, it products an abnormal CDK4 protein that is too active. This
abnormal protein makes cell divide uncontrollably fast, which could lead to tumor
formation. Clinically, CDK4 and CDKN2A are mostly similar.
3.7.5 Xeroderma pigmentosum
Xeroderma pigmentosum is an inherited condition characterized by an extreme
sensitivity to ultraviolet rays from

Furthermore, there has been said that with the start of preschool communication
skills begin to emerge (Jenkins). Being able to have conversational skills and
understanding your peers is an important aspect in children s lives. Jones said that
one key milestone in the developmental process is the growth of theory of mind, the
ability to understand that peers differ from self (Jenkins). The theory of mind is the
ability to attribute mental states such as: beliefs, intents, desires, pretending, and
knowledge. It has been said that the theory of mind emerges as early as three years
old (Jenkins). The ability to initiate interaction with and respond to peers develop

If social skills were to be a real subject most children would struggle (Lawson).
They would have difficulties because it would be their hardest subject. Gaining
social skills isn t the easiest skill to have especially for children who are shy and

that children build friendships with their peers so that they will enjoy and look
forward to going to school. There are a variety of students that may have social
skills difficulties. For example, children who have attentional problems, children with
memory problems, children with language and communication difficulties, and
children with autism have social skill difficulties (Lawson). Some children differ
broadly on how well they are able to build relationships and obtain peer acceptance.
Those are the ones that are considered to be popular and also the leaders at school.

The Importance Of Unity In American History
Throughout American History, we have won and lost thousands of battles, earned
and spent trillions of dollars, suffered through tragedies and rejoiced at our
successes. One common thread, running through all of these events is that no matter
how powerful we are or how low we sink, we must ultimately come together to
move on and to grow. To me, American History is all about unity in times of
destruction and despair. We can see this from the very beginning of our nation during
the Revolutionary War. Each colony operated on its own, each one differing from the
next. It became evident quickly that fighting as 13 separate groups were not going to
win them the freedom and independence they all desperately wanted. While

The states formerly part of the CSA slowly and reluctantly came back to the Union,
only returning to a new set of rules that would uproot their entire economic system

war, abolishment of slavery and the reunification of the North and South. Although
the CSA no longer technically existed, southern states were not fully loyal to the
Union. In order to bring the country together again, the government set out to create a

from his muckraking novel, The Jungle, describing the life of a young Lithuanian

along with the formation of unions. The Jungle, from 1906, has been deemed as a
classic denunciation of industrial capitalism and one of the most revolutionary
novels of the age (wordsocialism.org). In the Progressive Era , Sinclair s ideas were
at the center of the social movement, due to the brutality of the time period, The
Jungle was not easily published. The aesthetics of a novel include the way an author
uses elements of style, such as imagery, irony, and paradox, to enhance characters,
plot, and theme. From this perspective, The Jungle is not considered quality
literature. (cliffsnotes.com) Others thought that Sinclair only wrote the novel as
propaganda for his political career, or as a simple muckraking novel. He was not
thought to write nonfiction, so his words could not always be trusted. For these
reasons, Sinclair was not considered a serious author.
Sinclair was an expressive socialist, and showed his beliefs in his novels. In The
Jungle, Sinclair frequently referenced socialism and how it would fix all the
problems created through capitalism. Capitalism is not the problem.

King Hammurabi Research Paper
King of Babylonia Born circa 1810 BC, King Hammurabi was the sixth ruler of the
Amorite First Dynasty of Babylon. He ruled from 1792 until 1750 BC and
accomplished many significant tasks. After taking the throne from his father, Sin
Muballit, he fought and conquered all of ancient Mesopotamia, expanding his
beloved Kingdom. Hammurabi also strongly believed that the gods directed him to
protect and bring order to his kingdom. Just like all of his other responsibilities,
Hammurabi took it very seriously. Therefore, he went on and created his own laws,

of life in the kingdom. They also were put in a public place so that everyone could

The kingdom of babylonia began to fall apart within only one year of Hammurabi s

seen as a huge disappointment because everything Hammurabi fought for and kept
for many years, vanished in just a matter of time. In his time, Hammurabi was known
as a ruler of Mesopotamia who united and governed the kingdom in the same way
that Sargon the Great of Akkad had done before. However, Hammurabi differed
because he did not have to re conquer cities and land, but once they were under his
ruling, he was only interested in improving the cities and giving the people the
best lifestyles and conditions. In our time today, Hammurabi is known best for his
law codes, and for how his codes were a standard base for future laws. The code of

from any other movie director during the time. All of Spielberg s movies prior to
1985 were generally movies of either action packed adventure or unnerving horror,
but once Steven Spielberg announced that he would be doing a movie based on Alice

Steven Spielberg emphasizes and brings to the spotlight the aspect of sexism of the

Descriptive Essay About Bodybuilding
Often times when people think of bodybuilding they get the impression it s all about
how much weight you can lift, what s your max bench, or how much can you squat.
To tell the truth, that s what I thought it was all about, but sure enough I was wrong.
Bodybuilding is all about being concerned on how your body looks. Having
symmetry, muscularity and conditioning that is if you plan on competing

Dreams And What They Mean
Dreams And What They Mean
Dreams have broader representation than languages can provide. The symbols of our
dreams are deeper expressions than we can come up.
Dreams are lower base layer of processing that cannot easily be interpret in ordinary

Since all forms of languages are defined by their limitation, they can only represent a
subset of the messages dreams can convey, and they go much deeper than language.
People become bewildered when they cannot understand the meaning of a dream,
simply because they don t have the right skills to recognise what they express; it is
not everyday occurrence they can relate.
Learning to understand your dream is a skill you must learn, no different than
learning to speak a language.

What is meditation? What are the advantages of meditation in day by day life?
Have you ever practiced meditation when you are stressed? There are countless
questions that we ask every day. This is what Mai Samih tries to answer in her

physical levels. The author is Mai Samih and the title of her article is A life on

The more familiar our brain is with inspiration, the more quiet and more serene it
gets to be. At the point when our brain is quiet we are free from anxiety and mental
uneasiness, and we experience true happiness. If we train our mind to become
peaceful we will be cheerful constantly, even in the most troublesome conditions.
But if it is not peaceful, even if we have the best outside conditions we won t be

with the author when she says we are using our brains all the time and as a result at
the end of the day we may be liable to lack focus and even be liable to nervous

Is Ned Kelly A Victim Or A Villain
Ned Kelly; victim, villain, hero
Ned Kelly, an Australian outlaw, made his way into Australian history books, but
for what? The notorious villain or a victim of law. Many of his actions made the
public petrified at the sound of the name, yet others saw him as a beacon of light.
Fighting for a fair police department. Although Ned and his gang shoot dead three
innocent police men this does not make him a villain, neither a victim. Ned showed
aspects of a hero, villain and victim throughout his life such as the robbery at the
Jerilderie bank.
Ned Kelly was almost destined to turn to bank hold ups with his family cruelly
misjudged by the Victorian police. Ned s mother was wrongly accused of
assaulting a police officer. Than she was sentenced to 3 years of jail and hard
labour. Ned went around breaking the law to create a fairer law. With the money,
he had stolen, he gave to friends and family such as his mother who he paid bail for.
He never stole from the poor but as such gave back to the poor. No doubt I am now
placed in very peculiar circumstances and you might blame me for it but if you
knew how I have been wronged and persecuted you would say I cannot be blamed

The Business Impact Of The Internet Of Things
The Internet of Things (IoT) is changing how most industries do business and
promises a significant return on investment (ROI) in operational efficiency,
improved customer experience, risk mitigation, and enabling entirely new business
models. The sheer volume of new devices on the network driven by IoT will evolve
the scale and range of deploying devices and managing data. Further, recent advances
for employing Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) within IoT are
creating many new opportunities to enhance data analysis and better decision
making. Although the notion of computing based on sensor data from things was not
born yesterday, the meteoric rise of IoT has recently become practical because of

Further, a significant challenge many organizations when deploying IoT solutions is
the melee of connectivity standards, hardware types, operating systems, programming
languages in addition to navigating the proliferation of platforms. Dell Technologies
has been a pioneer in driving innovation, standards, and solutions across the industry.
Specifically, with their involvement the Industrial Internet Consortium (IIC),
OpenFog Consortium, and the EdgeX Foundry hosted by the Linux Foundation.
Although there has been some success with these standards bodies, the onus has
been put on companies like Dell to provide leadership and move the industry
forward. Seeded by Dell code, EdgeX is a vendor neutral, open source project
building a common interoperability framework to facilitate an ecosystem for IoT
edge computing. The EdgeX effort is backed by over 60 organizations, including
recent addition Samsung, has established a roadmap of bi annual code releases and
has formed a partnership with the IIC to collaborate on testbeds.
For the past three years, Dell has built a strong presence in the market with an IoT
strategy and IoT focused projects such as gateways and embedded PCs and an
ecosystem of over 90 technology and services partners that complement their

How Does Hermia End In A Midsummer Night s Dream
Humans can choose to make small decisions that may end up being the biggest
mistake of their life. In the book A Midsummer Night s Dream, Shakespeare exposes
the great emotions of love and friendship contrasted. The characters in this comedy,
essentially Hermia and Helena, all experience this same difficulty throughout the
novel. Many of the characters have to make a simple decision that will end up
drastically affecting the stories ending, no matter what they determine is the best
response. Hermiaand Helenas choices between lovefriendship commonly end up
ruining relationships. Hermia often chooses her lover over her best friend, even when
it comes to never seeing the other one again. In this story, Hermia s father wants
Hermia to marry Demetrius, although she is in love with Lysander. She then decides
to run away with him, hence they can marry and stay with his aunt. Accordingly,
Lysander comes up with the plan of getting out of Athens, so that they can live
together happily and says, There, gentle Hermia,... Show more content on

“A Raisin in the Sun”
Lorraine Hansberry used symbolism in her successful drama, A Raisin in the Sun to
portray emotions felt in the lives of her characters and possible her own. Hansberry
set her piece in Chicago s South Side, probably the early 1950 s. During this period in
history, many African Americans, like the Youngers, struggled to overcome the well
known prejudices that were far too familiar. The main scene, in this touching realist
drama, is the home of the Youngers, an overcrowded run down apartment. Hansberry
used this private scenery to enhance the many feelings the Youngers, and other
African Americans, fought to conquer and to embrace in the name of happiness.
As with families of any ethnic group, the Youngers ultimate goal was to be... Show

Hansberry, not only, played on the condition of the apartment; she used the size as
well. The condition alone portrayed the despair and oppression the Youngers felt,
but Hansberry wanted to make their struggle to suppress depression undeniable. She
did this by placing the family of five, soon to be six, in a two bedroom apartment
with no bathroom. This small, cramped apartment also symbolized the pressures
from society to divvy up the limited resources partitioned for African Americans. By
setting the scene this way, Hansberry also was able to set the mood. The feelingof
tension and need for the characters to fight for their fair share is apparent in the
opening act, as Ruth rushes Travis into the bathroom before the neighbors. These
feelings serve as a foundation for the problems in act three between brother and
sister, Ruth s motive to have an abortion, and represent an explanation to the need so
many African Americans felt to compete against each other. Hansberry characterized
the lack of resources, a common theme here, not only in the lack of space, but also
in the lack of food, money, and sunlight. As conflict intensified in the small space,
Mama realized that her be loved family was falling apart and only the reality of
owning a home could bring unity. To overcome the mountains of negative emotions
the Youngers turn to their beckons of hope. The three main symbolic items Hansberry
used were Mama s

The Garden Party was one of her most prominent works that displayed all these
things that the critics have talked about. Jennifer Rich says that The Garden Party,
was the work of the growth of a young character. It shows much improvement into the
life of the character which it showcases. It is also believed that the Marxist movement
had a huge impact on the writingof this story. The story starts out very serene and
calm and then turns into a somewhat type of chaos. She used this short storyto express
her feelings and how she felt on the matter of death. She often uses comical

Miss Brill is a spinster who is a very lonely woman who doesn t have much more
than the students she teaches. As in some of her other important works she is a
lonely character. The character s appearance in Miss Brill greatly reflects the
thoughts and issues that could have been going on in her life. Robert Peltier
notices how well she conveys herself while she was a young writer. He gives
examples as to how she gives great detail into the lives of her characters in this
story. Miss Brill has a very boring life, she goes through the same routine every

shows how she is not contempt with the life she has and tries to do something new

Similarities Between Secular And Secular Music
Secular music and music intended for mass both played important roles in medieval
culture. For a while, the only music was made for worship. There were certain themes
and purposes that shaped church music to be the way that it was and the same with
non religious music, each had a purpose. There are characteristics of each that
separate them from each other and then some characteristics that make them one. One
would not be the same today without the other. These styles of musicserved as a
source of inspiration for later music to come.
Some basic similarities between the two types of music were that both secular and
religious music was monophonic, which is when a single melody is sung by a
single person or by a choir in which each member sings the same part. Secular and
religious music were intended for communicating feelings and gave a way to
express emotions in a way like never before and both originated from oral cultures
and passed down from memory until religious composers became more literate.
Monks and members of the church choir were the main performers of religious
music intended for mass and the troubadors, trouveres, and joungleurs were the
performers of secular music. Unlike secular music, music intended for mass was
taken from or inspired by the Bible for worship and was seen as a musical prayer.
Singing about the scripture was another and a more intimate way to experience the
Holy Spirit rather than just reading from scripture. Secular music was intended for
parties and dancing mainly about love and used to entertain people. Some ... Show

Sarcasm
Many people would say that Linn didn t do anything spectacular in her life, for the
people who say this, you are absolutely correct. She hardly did any work and usually
solved her problems by having her head in the clouds and imagining a wonderland
for herself. Sarcasm was one of her finest values and more than once she was caught
taking the shortcut for almost everything.
However, with all these flaws she had, she made them up by being the bright,
sarcastic and carefree girl that her family knew her for all her life, and even in her
final moments.
Linn was a dramatic, imaginative, energetic, and very expressive throughout her
life. Ever since she was a baby she has confused but amused her family with her
little ideas, plans, and stories that she would come up with in merely five seconds.
Most times her stories would take a drastic turn, as she liked it, and it would be

didn t sleep with them. She had a lot of ideas in her head when she was little, which
made her into the imaginative women her family has grown to love her for.

James Polk And Manifest Destiny
Around the mid 1800s, the United States was focused on the idea of expansion . This
idea was influenced by Manifest Destiny a term that the U.S. not only could, but was
destined to, stretch from coast to coast and its economic nature, which was the
increased development and advancement of industry in the United States. As the U.S.
began to grow more powerful and internally sound, they were able to add more
land and, subsequently, states, into the Union. The vast majority of this expansion
occurred during the presidency of James Polk as a result of the Treaty of
Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ceased the Mexican American war. The conception of
this war was the brainchild of Polk and was what resulted from his presidential
ideologies. President James Polk was responsible for the start of the Mexican
American war to a great extent due to his expansionist ideologies and succeeding
actions, aspiration to annex the regions of California and Texas, and contributions of
troops along the Rio GrandeRiver in 1846. To begin with, during the election of
1844, James Polk was considered to be a long shot and a definite underdog.
However, Polk gained the support of many Americans through his clear desire to
defend the territories of the United States and to further expand them. This ideology
became prevalent through his campaign slogan, 54 40 or fight , referring to the
territory that, at the time, was disputed between the United States and Great Britain,

Digital Media And Its Effects On Today s Age Essay
The best way to communicate in today s age is through digital media. When
reaching out to the masses digital media is both fast and convenient as it allows us
to reach out to millions of people in a matter of seconds. Large multi million dollar
corporations use digital media to reach out to an individual on the subways of New
York City or someone who is on a fishing trip in the deep woods of North Carolina.
In recent years, the United StatesMilitaryhas undertaken corporate digital media
strategies in order to both project an image and recruit potential applicants. Just a
few years ago local recruiters would sit at their offices, smiling and dialing , and
looking for perspectives recruits by dialing direct to home telephones. As home
telephones are giving way to new means of communications such as smart phones,
tablets and wearable communication technologies, days of the old telephone system
to cold call potential applicants in their homes is slowly but surely disappearing.
Digital and social media is the present and the future for most if not all organizations
to achieve their marketing and or strategic communications goals. The United States
Military s target audience are seventeen to twenty nine year old applicants who are
increasingly spending the majority of their waking hours utilizing digital media. This
paper will attempt to demonstrate whether or not the United States Military is
achieving its recruitment goals through an increase in digital and social media

The History of the Canadian Political Landscape
The Canadian political landscape has a rich and complex history spanning from sea
to sea , just as the nation itself. Chronicles of dominance, leadership, and association
by the United Kingdom, France, and the United States has ultimately shaped the
Canadian national consciousness, resulting in the political ideologies and governance
we see today. To best describe the characteristic of Canadian politics, one can refer to
Fragment Theory where a colonial nation, such as Canada, is predominantly
influenced from their historic origins. However, recent immigration and economic
trends have drastically reshaped the Canadian political spectrum across provinces.
The following essay will briefly analyze the evolution of political ideologies across
Canada, primarily focusing on the conservative/ neo liberal model.
To properly analyze the political ideologies that have played a major role in shaping
Canadian politics, one must examine a major aspect regional politics. It is the
various regions and provinces that make up Canada, as does their political
ideological landscape.
Perhaps the most influential of provinces in the development of political ideology in
Canada is Ontario. Since the formation of Canada, Ontario played a large role in the
political sphere, hence being home to the nations capital. Settled by British
colonialist, and later on British loyalist from America, Ontario was predominantly
Anglo Saxon, which favored traditional British principles such as economic

I was always inspired by the idea of storing large amounts of structured and
unstructured data. Therefore I chose to finish my concentration in Data Management.
I have finished the following courses as my concentration requirement:
ITCS 6162 Knowledge Discovery in databases
ITCS 6160 Database Systems
ITCS 6100 Big data Analytics for Competitive Advantage
The course Big data Analytics for Competitive Advantage has thrown some light
about 3V s Volume, Variety and Velocity at which the data is growing day by day
and how this huge data is dealt with. From Knowledge discovery in databases, I
learnt how useful data can be extracted from a large pile of unstructured data. In
Database systems, I learnt how relational databases ruled for decades.
In this report I am going to discuss about No SQL databases and the criterion that are

developed in response to rise in volume of data unlike relational databases which

Robert Browning and the Power of the Dramatic Monologue
Form
Robert Browning and the Power of the Dramatic Monologue Form
The dramatic monologue form, widely used by Victorian poets, allows the writer to
engage more directly with his reader by placing him in the role of listener. Robert
Browning utilised the form to a famously profound effect, creating a startling aspect
to his poetry. In poems such as Porphyria s Lover, and My Last Duchess, for example,
Browning induces a feeling of intimacy by presenting the reader as the
confidant to the narrator s crimes; in Soliloquy of the Spanish
Cloister, the reader is more a witness to the narrator s increasing instability. Thus,
Browning is able to use the dramatic monologue form both to expose the narrator s
frailties, and as a channel ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Browning immediately makes this attitude appear ridiculous by demonstrating the
Duke s bullish approach to the painter of his wife s image. The Duke condemns the
earnest glance required by the painter s profession in exaggerating its depth and
passion. The Duke seems to interpret his wife s happiness as an affront to his gift of
a nine hundred years old name, complaining that She had/ A heart... too soon made
glad, / Too easily impressed. The envy stems from a materialistic fixation similar to
that of the Bishop in The Bishop
Orders His Tomb at Saint Praxed s Church, whose holiness is undermined with an
obsession for an extravagant resting place.
Vanity, saith the preacher, vanity! declares the Bishop in the poem s opening line,
setting the tone for the rest of the monologue.
The Bishop appears transfixed with the idea of an overstated tomb that would
undermine the paltry onion stone of that of his rival, Old
Gandolf. He interrupts his philosophising to declare that the tomb should be Peach
blossom marble all... True peach/ Rosy and flawless.
Later though, he supersedes even this outrageous demand, asserting
All lapis, all, my sons, referring to the incredibly rare lapis lazuli, Big as a Jew s head
and Blue as a vein o er the Madonna s breast that he had stolen from the church. The
requests seem outrageous for a man who has vowed to live in poverty. However, the
most despicable examples of his vanity are demonstrated by
The Sapphires By Wayne Blair Essay
The Sapphires by Wayne Blair was the trigger that led my research into the effects
of the Stolen Generation on Aboriginals in Australia. This film is about an
Aboriginal singing group who want to make a name for themselves, but find it
difficult because of the racism against them. This film also tells the stories of their
cousin Kay, who was a half caste and was stolen from her Aboriginal family at a
young age to be taught the ways of white people, and forget her culture. This film
made me realise that I am lucky to live in a country where racism of such an extent
in which children are stolen from their indigenous families, isn t part of our
history, and has not affected me personally. From my research, I have found six
main sources that have helped me to understand how large this problem was and
continues to be. My sources: The Sapphires by Wayne Blair; a film about a group
of Aboriginal singers who are affected by racism which is based on a real life
singing group; The Sorry Speech , by Kevin Rudd who was the Prime Minister of
Australia in 2008 who explains the damage and apologises for the way that the
actions of past governments tore apart the lives of their indigenous people. Then
there is Blind Eye, the documentary in which people who were stolen are
interviewed and tell their stories. The film, Rabbit Proof Fence this tells the story of
two girls who were stolen and gives us insight into how brutally that they were
treated after being ripped apart from
Differences Of Myths
It can be seen that every culture have historical stories associated with their origin
that have been passed from one generation to another. Some among these are
classified as legends, while others are called as myths. These stories mostly consist
of a superman like character that breaks all logic and rules of nature. According to
me, History is a concern which raises a number of issues in factual way where
sources come from primary sources or objective secondary sources. History is
considered as an accurate guide to the past which is read to explain, analyze and
describe the truths of the past. On the other hand, Myths only tells about a few daily
occurrences through very subjective ways. The sources for myths come from word of
mouth, imagination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Myths are moral stories containing transitional experiences taking into account

Myths contain stories of bravery to empower the youthful through learning to

For example Myths of Hercules and Myths of Zeus. Myths gave the youthful learning
that would fill their lives with significance and reason, bringing on in them an
otherworldly quality that would never fall flat them in times of need. Myths are
stories of confidence, which open the eyes of everybody to truth and empower them,
to end up who they genuinely are. Myth is learning that holds the ability to dissipate

The Aztecs, Mayans, and Incas were civilizations that settled in Central and South
America thousands of years ago. There are vastly similar to each other, but also
very different. They each had their own ways of growing their civilizations into
what they needed to be successful. They had their own cultures and ways of life,
but the ideas of each of them similarly came together in one way or another. The
Mayan civilization was located in Central America on the Yucatan peninsula and
down into the highlands of Guatemala. Their geography provided them with
limestone they would be able to use for their buildings and other architecture. It
also led them to wells made from the limestones that became the main water source
for the Mayans (McKay 310). The Mayans farmed mainly on narrow plots they
built above the land near the rivers that flooded often (McKay 310). The main crop
on the peninsula was maize. Their economy was based heavily on trade, similar to
the Aztecs. Trade was used in Mayan markets between themselves and even other
regions outside of the civilization, developing long distance trade. The Mayan
government was based on hierarchy, being ruled by kings and priests. The rulers
were believed to be god like and were worshipped. They also thought it was
important to keep the line of power in the royal family. They had the classic three
level system, consisting of the elites, middle class, and lower class. The elites had
homes near the center of the city. The

What Are The Disadvantages Of Concrete
In 2005, H Azamirad et al published a paper A criticism of Self Compacting
Concrete which talks about the problems in using SCC such as segregation and roles
of different materials which affect it. It talks about the economic problems too.
Finally it says about some projects which are executed with SCC. This paper helped
in identifying the disadvantages of using SCC.
In 1990, T.H. Cooke wrote a book ConcretePumping and Spraying: A practical
guide . This book is related to pumping operations of concrete. A nomograph is
suggested by this book which is used for determining the working power required for
conventional concrete and SCC so that costing can be done. It explains the graph and
tells the method of usage.

Pumping operations will require less energy as it possesses flow able properties.
Further due to its flowing nature speed of construction will be increased. Rapid
rate of concrete placement is possible decreasing the placing time. Reduction in
site manpower is achieved in various stages like faster pumping requires less
manpower hours, reduction of vibration needs negligible manpower, smooth
surface obtained from SCC needs less labor for finishing purposes, if SCC is
placed properly then there are negligible bug holes and patches on surface thus
reducing the manpower demand. The construction process becomes more
productive which is evident by the fact that the truck has to wait for less time for
unloading of SCC and can go early thus improving the productivity. Also the service
life of vibration equipment and formwork will increase. Due to elimination of
vibration to consolidate the mixture, the forms used in the precast operations will
receive less wear and tear, decreasing the regular maintenance costs and costs of
investing in new forms. SCC also shows high early strength allowing early removal
of formwork thus increasing

Veterinarian
I have always loved animals, especially dogs. My dog Bear is probably one of my
best friends and I would do anything for him. I have wanted to become a
Veterinarian ever since I was a little kid and we got our first dog Max. I would pull
his tail and drive him crazy but, I loved him and loved sleeping in his kennel with
him. Being a veterinarian is not just about taking care of animals and just giving
them a check up, you have to perform surgeries and when you think that they can no
longer live a happy life and are suffering then you have to put them down. That is
why you cannot become attached to animals when you are a veterinarian. I believe

One of our concepts is to use area facilities such as restaurants and nightclubs as
sources of advertisement. We already have four area businesses that have given us
verbal commitment for assistance by placing banners and placards in their business
places and distributing flyers to their customers.
Our target market will be primarily be the student/young adult and senior citizen,
but Lifestyles Fitness will not be limiting itself to this market alone. We believe
that the fitness industry is open to all individuals and should be made available to
all markets. By having a broader clientele our income base would not be limited, we
will literally tap into every category of markets and try to reach as many of them as
possible through strategic advertising.

This company is a start up venture that has secured a tentative lease agreement on
the perfect site for a large fitness center. The new site is located perfectly in

from highway. The facility is located in a modern and progressive strip mall that
supports numerous businesses and has a high volume of potential customer traffic.
This high traffic area is the ideal location for easy access to both college and local
citizens. It assured memberships by many Lifestyles Fitness citizens since it will be

Elements Of Catholicism And Voodoo
A religion can be defined as a system of belief that manifest, to some degree, the
following eight elements: belief system, community, central myths, ritual, ethics,
characteristic emotional experience, material expression, and sacredness. Depending
on the religion, some of these elements may carry more weight than others. I will
look at Catholicism and Voodoo and the role some of these elements play within
these systems of belief.
Catholicism is a monotheistic religion believing that God is the Creator of all that is.
We must love and serve God in our daily life, through prayer and good works, in
order to achieve salvation. The element of central myths plays a large role within the
Catholic faith, as the Bible is the core of Catholic ... Show more content on

Eucharist is when we receive the body and blood of Christ through the symbols of
bread and wine. It further extends the initiation that took place at baptism to enter
fully into the heart of Christian faith through participation in the Eucharist
(catholic.org,2017). Confirmation is the final step of initiation. It is receiving the
gift of the Holy Spirit that unites us more firmly with Christ and strengthens our
bond with the Church. The remaining four Sacraments guide us through the rest of
our life. The Sacrament of Penance is received regularly to confess our sins and
seek forgiveness so that we may remain in God s grace. The Sacrament of Marriage
takes place when two people commit to spend the rest of their life together,
anointing of the sick is when a priest anoints a sick person with oil and offers
prayers, and Holy Orders is the sacrament that takes place with the ordination of a
bishop, priest, or deacon into ministry (Molloy, M., 2010).
Voodoo is also a monotheistic religion that combines Catholic and African beliefs
and is often surrounded by many misconceptions. Voodoo has been portrayed by
the media as a form of devil worship and curses, with Voodoo dolls being used to
inflict pain on one s enemies (ancient origins.net). It is practiced primarily in Haiti,
New Orleans, and the Caribbean. This religion is several hundred years old, dating
back to when African slaves were brought to America from Haiti. They were not
allowed to practice their African
Global Opportunities for Turkey Essay
Global Opportunities for Turkey The world is becoming much more connected,
especially in the last few decades. The idea of being free individuals has become
more important, as well as free market economies. Some ideologies have collapsed
because of their antiquated offers about the political situations, yet some of them are
ruling the world in the last hundred years. But if there is something certain about the
whole world, it is that globalization is affecting and changing it. Turkey is located at
the center of the Europe, Asia and Africa, therefore the political and economical
circumstances of it are important both for the Western part and the Eastern part of the
world, then, the role of the globalization is very important to Turkey.... Show more

There are many examples as well as these two in the book, but I think that they are
sufficient to explain that the combining situation more effectively, that is one of
the fundamentals of globalization. Just three of four decades before, the situation
of Turkey in the free market was very poor. There was no opportunity to find a
product of a brand that is famous world widely. You could not buy cola, you could
not buy blue jeans, you could not buy good fashioned cars, etc. You can t even
taste the traditional foods of the other countries, like Italian foods or Chinese
cuisine. I may give much more interesting example that in the late 1970s, nearly all
of the cinemas, including the major ones in the country had closed or in fact,
crashed. Maybe you may not believe but, until the closing, in every town in every
city, even in the many of the villages, there were cinemas. But after that, people
could not find a cinema to watch the new picture of Marlon Brando or Robert De

Allied Strategic Bombing
Allied strategic bombing of Germany during the Second World War was, in the
main, significant. The key themes to be looked at in this essay are the effects that
Allied Strategic Bombing had on the dislocation and demoralisation of German
civilians; Germany s economic ability to produce and transport goods for the war
effort; other key aspects of the war and the German war effort and, finally, its impact
on the USSR. The evidence of the effectiveness of Allied Strategic Bombingof
Germanystrongly suggests that it became more significant throughout the war,
especially after the first one thousand bomber raid on Cologne in May 1942, and
although not decisive on its own, was significant in the final outcome of the Second
World War.

Whilst the significance that it had on the German home front may have been more
limited than hoped for, it succeeded in dislocating and demoralising German
civilians. Whilst its effect on Germany s economic ability to produce and transport
goods for the war effort may have been mostly limited, its effect on the transport
infrastructure of German was of critical significance. Perhaps the most significant
effect was bombing s impact on other areas of the war and the German war effort
because of how it saved thousands of potential casualties and facilitated the D Day
landings. Its impact on the USSR in terms of both keeping them as an ally and
easing their invasion was also of great significance. The overall outcome from
Allied Strategic Bombing may have been highly significant, but we must not fail to
neglect the cost at which such a result came. 44.4% of Bomber Command crews
failed to return from their missions (55,573) and over 18000 were wounded or
became prisoners of war. 8,325 aircraft were lost and 1,030,500 tons of bombs were
dropped. Despite the cost at which Allied Strategic Bombing came at, the evidence
supports the argument that the Allied Strategic Bombing of Germany during the
Second World War was significant to a large
Japan, South Korean, And American Management Practices
Japan, China, South Korean, and America Management Practices
Every country has different management practices. They all have unique approaches
that have been found to be the most adequate or efficient way in accomplishing
specific objectives. We have heard the English terms culture, management terms, and
business culture, which are commonly used business terms in America. Nonetheless,
we don t have much knowledge about international business terms. International
business terms such as wa , quanxi , and inhwa , which are essential management
terms in Japan, China, and South Korea. In this paper I will be analyzing my findings
on the words culture, management terms, business culture, wa , quanxi , inhwa ,
what would be similar terms to describe American management practices, and if these
terms sufficiently capture American management practices.
Culture is a very broad word with multiple definitions. It can be defined as the
knowledge, experience, beliefs, attitude and values passed from one generation to
another. Culture can also be interpreted as a certain way of thinking and behavior
that prevail in a place or organization. On the other hand, management is the act of
controlling and most importantly making business decisions. Whereas term, is an
expression used to indicate a concept in a specific kind of language or branch of

Property Crimes
CASE 49: PROPERTY CRIMES
I. Executive summary
The focus of this study is the examination of the data provided by U.S government
agencies. Our analysis revealed that of the eight possible contributing factors, only
three variables (namely, urbanization rate, high school dropout rate, and population
density) affected property crime rates. Our data analysis model accounted for
approximately 66% of the factors contributing to property crimes. The model is
generally considered to be statistically strong, however, if we need to account for the
remaining 34% of factors contributing to property crime rates in the U.S., further data
and evaluation of other possible factors would be necessary.

Key Elements Of A Strong Relationship Analysis
Communication, coping ability, and loyalty are all very important elements that a
strong relationship should consist of. In the last four years my cousin and I thought
we had mastered those elements. On May 12, 2016, the day before my graduation,
we were proven wrong. That afternoon, we got Into an intense debate that caused our
relationship to change drastically. The bond that we had was supposed to be
unbreakable. No one would ve ever thought that something as simple as her not being
able to get a ticket to my graduation would ve torn us apart.
The main factor that caused our relationship to go astray was communication. Instead
of talking face to face with each other, we communicated through text messaging.
By doing this it made us say things that we wouldn t normally say to one another in
person. It gave us this false sense of power that we abused with harsh word to bring
the other down. We weren t able to listen and actually analyze what the other person
was saying or feeling without being interrupted with the rapid fire of text messages.
In order to have stopped this from occurring. We should have arranged a time and
place where we could ve sat down and talked face to face about the situation. ... Show

Every message that was sent the other person viewed it as a dagger to the heart,
instead of trying to find the positive side in the situation. We decided to grow apart
rather than admitting our faults and learning from them to build a better
relationship for the future. For example, when we would encounter each other, we
acted as if the other person was invisible. Then, there was this one time we
unexpectedly ended up at my grandmother s house, and to avoid being in the living
room with her. I went in the bedroom and locked the door. To end the childish like
acts that we had started to use against one another. We could have added a third party

Example Of Archetypal Criticism In In The Time Of The...
An American poet once stated, Great literature is simply language charged with
meaning to the utmost possible degree (Pound). Every piece of literature has an
impactful underlying meaning and can be interpreted into universal symbols,
motifs, and patterns. Archetypal Criticism is a theory based off common myths,
images, and symbols in literature. The definition of an archetypal can be defined as
a very typical example of a certain person or thing (Davidson). With that being said,
readers can apply Archetypal Criticism to In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia
Alvarez. Alvarez uses common character types, like the hero and the villain, and also
uses the symbol of butterflies in her novel.

Edwards, an Entomologist, states, Butterflies are deep and powerful
representations of life. [...] Around the world, people view the butterfly as

the sisters code name for the movement. The butterfly was a symbol for them, not
only because that is what they were called, but also because they symbolized what
it meant to be a butterfly. The Mirabal sisters changed from being little children
following their parents, to individuals leading a revolution and having other people

John Donne Death Be Not Proud Tone
Putting Death In His Place John Donne was born in 1572 to an English Catholic
family and attended the universities of Oxford and Cambridge. Donne Converted to
the Anglican church, or the Church of England, and took on holy orders shortly
before the passing of his wife. Donne is best known for being one of the leading
figures in metaphysical poetry. This form of poetry is not merely intellectual but also
carries deep serious philosophical thoughts on the soul. Metaphysical poetry primarily
deals with, and is known for, exploring the experiences of the human being such as
love, death, and religious beliefs. Throughout John Donnes Holy SonnetDeath Be Not

Donne claims that when a person dies, their bones rest , which is a non permanent
state, and their soul is delivered (to the afterlife); which is the existence of a life
after death, this contradicts the idea of death being absolute ,both of these terms
contribute to the tone of defiance and the theme that death is not absolute. As the
poem progresses Donne s tone becomes stronger and even more specific: Thou art
slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,/ and dost with poison, war and
sickness dwell... (9 10). Donne calls death a slave to all the things from which
people die, reversing the long held perception that one spends a lifetime trying to
escape the grasp of death by creating the idea that death spends an eternity of
servitude to mortal humans. Donne s use of tone in Death Be Not Proud varies from
gentle suggestion that Death is powerlessness to direct ridiculing, disproving, and
rebellious tone, all of which contribute to his theme that death is neither unbounded

Introduction
With advancing age dependency increases and family is the primary contact an
individual turn to for assistance. It is reported that 36 million adults provide care to a
family member aged 65 or older. (National Alliance for Caregiving, 2009).Similarly,
the family members will also have higher degree of involvement in caregiving for
an individual in later years and it s degree of caregiving totally depends on the need
of care recipients.Family caregiver role is not an easy task as it brings responsibility
and dedication which requires a great amount of energy and time. There are about
5.3 million people with Alzheimers disease which is the most common form of
dementia and it is predicted to increase as boomers generation enter old age
(Tremont,2011).In U.S. about 14.9 million family caregivers are providing care for
someone with Dementia (Alzheimer s association,2011).Mostly, older adults with
dementia receive care from their spouse but when the spouse are not available the
caregiving task is taken over by adult children, especially daughter (Schulz Martire,

nearly one quarter provided 40 hours of care or more per week which included
personal care such as bathing, feeding, and assisting with toileting (Brodaty Dunkin,

Christmas Music In Christmas
A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales
gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of
the Yuletide season.
However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday
melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist,
explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant
reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the
Daily Mail reported.
Kaching of Christmas
But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on
ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing
Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure
to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during
the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said.
Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair
pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes,
conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion.
If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it
would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail
workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them
from being able to focus on anything else.

  • 1. An Example Of Expository Essay Writing an essay on the topic "An Example Of Expository Essay" can be quite challenging for several reasons. Firstly, the task requires a deep understanding of the expository essay genre, which involves presenting information, explaining a concept, or providing an analysis in a clear and concise manner. It demands a strong grasp of the subject matter and the ability to communicate ideas effectively. Crafting an exemplary expository essay also involves meticulous research to gather relevant and accurate information. The writer must sift through various sources, critically evaluate data, and select the most pertinent details to support their thesis. This process can be time-consuming and requires a discerning eye to distinguish reliable sources from unreliable ones. Moreover, the challenge lies in organizing the information logically and coherently. The essay must have a well-defined structure with a clear introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Ensuring smooth transitions between ideas is crucial to maintaining the essay's flow and readability. Another aspect to consider is the need for a compelling thesis statement that encapsulates the main argument or purpose of the essay. Crafting a thesis that is both specific and engaging requires thoughtful consideration and often multiple revisions. In addition, maintaining a formal and objective tone in an expository essay can be demanding. Striking the right balance between providing information and avoiding personal bias or opinion is essential. This requires a careful choice of language and a thorough understanding of the audience. Visual techniques and extended metaphors aid in the transmission of these themes. Symbolism, colour, positioning, drawing styles, and cultural referencing are techniques used to convey the messages. Tan utilises these techniques to help the reader realise, and interpret, for themselves the overarching messages within in the picture books. Throughout Shaun Tans surrealist picture books The Lost Thingand The Red Tree the overarching theme of hope is explored. Both books implement symbolism and positioning to reveal the extended metaphor of hope. In The Red Tree Tan uses the symbol of a red leaf on every page to represent hope, similarly, The Lost Thing has the symbol of a white, curvy arrow on almost every page to also symbolise hope. Tan uses the red leaf as a metaphor to the reader that hope is always present, even if sometimes the person cannot see it at that moment. This is represented in the nobody understands picture where the little girl is seen in a glass bottle with a diving helmet on, the red leaf is positioned behind her and she cannot see it; Tan also makes the leaf a darker tone so it blends in with the background, further emphasising the notion of hope not always being noticeable. Correspondingly, in The Lost Thing the symbol of the white arrow is found on almost every page, however, the protagonists do not

Analysis Of Wally Obermeyer ( Head Of Obermeyer Question One Wally Obermeyer (head of Obermeyer, a leading manufacturer of skiwear) wanted to discover a way of determining the best levels of production in order to make production commitments for the upcoming 1993 1994 season. So far, predicting production has been difficult for Wally, as the first more concrete signals of demand do not appear until Obermeyer participates in a trade shoe in Las Vegas, not long before production is due to begin. The products also face a short life cycle and are only ordered once a season. Therefore determining the correct quantities based on the most accurate estimates of demand are necessary, Furthermore, the company s buying committee have huge disparities in each member s demand forecasts for the ... Table 1.1 Production quantities in Hong Kong Question Two In order to help Wally decide which product lines to manufacture in either Hong Kong or China, a measure of risk needs to be undertaken for all 10 product lines based on average forecasted demand. In order to determine what items should be produced where, a risk assessment was conducted for all lines per the average forecast for each line. The Coefficient of Variation (CV) was determined in order to analyse the risk associated with each line, due to fluctuations in demand. The CV for each parka was derived using the following formula: CV = standard deviation/average forecasted demand. The CVs for each product line can be seen below in Table 2.1 Table 2.1 Risk assessment for each product line Lastly, so as to determine which lines had more associated risk, it has been decided that any line with a CV of under 0.2 was low risk, and therefore less subject to fluctuations in demand. Those lines are Assault, Seduced, Entice, Electra, and Gail. Those lines with a CV of over 0.2 were considered high risk. Those product lines were Daphne, Isis, Anita, Teri and Stephanie. Question Three For Wally to decide what product lines to create in which country, he must calculate the production commitments for the plant in China. The minimum production requirement for China is 1,200 units per line, double that of the Hong Kong plant. At the China plant, there is

The first is A Christian is a perfectly free lord of all, subject to none, and the second proposition is A Christian is a perfectly dutiful servant of all, subject to all (Luther, 2). • 11. Essay On Why Cats Are Better Pets Than Dogs Cats are not better pets than dogs. Have you ever had that intriguing question about whether you should get a dog or a cat as your new family member. Here are some reasons why you should always choose to adopt a new dog, not a new cat. You will get more exercise from owning a dog. When I go outside to bike, often my mom will follow me to get our dogexercise, but this technique will help my mom in the long run, because even if her motive is to wear my dog out, she s also getting exercise and getting healthier. Dogingtonpost says it is recommended that you walk your dog at least 15 minutes, twice a day. Mayoclinic says to aim for at least 30 minutes of physical activity every day. These two times equal each other so if you walk your dog for the necessary amount each day, then you yourself will also get the necessary amount of exercise daily. Dogs are a lot easier to train. When dogs were first bred as wild animals they would follow their pack leader, when domesticated their leader becomes their human. When you train a dog it becomes bonded to you, but cats, not so much. Cats are more independent when it comes to relationships. Because cats have no notion of duty, service, or pack behaviour. In other words, doing something for the sake of something else, or someone else, than themselves. Says Nuno Desa. Dogs come in more shapes and sizes. Whether you are looking for a big dog, a small dog, a hypoallergenic dog, or just a friendly dog, chances are you won t have to much

  • 13. Case 3.7.1 Familial Melanoma 3.7.1 Familial melanoma Familial melanoma is a genetic or inherited condition. This means that the risk of having a melanoma can be passed from generation to generation in a family. Ordinarily, each cell has two copies of each gene: one inherited from the mother and one inherited from the father. Familial melanoma follows a dominant inheritance pattern, in which case a mutation happens in only one copy of the gene. As every cell has two copies of each gene, it means that a parent can potentially pass along a copy of his or her normal gene or a copy of the mutated gene. Therefore, a child who has a parent with a mutation has a 50% chance of inheriting that mutation. Because Helena no longer trusted Hernia after being picked over, she made a minor rude comment to Hermia after thinking she was being tricked. • 27. “A Raisin in the Sun” Lorraine Hansberry used symbolism in her successful drama, A Raisin in the Sun to portray emotions felt in the lives of her characters and possible her own. Hansberry set her piece in Chicago s South Side, probably the early 1950 s. During this period in history, many African Americans, like the Youngers, struggled to overcome the well known prejudices that were far too familiar. The main scene, in this touching realist drama, is the home of the Youngers, an overcrowded run down apartment. Hansberry, not only, played on the condition of the apartment; she used the size as well. The condition alone portrayed the despair and oppression the Youngers felt, but Hansberry wanted to make their struggle to suppress depression undeniable. She did this by placing the family of five, soon to be six, in a two bedroom apartment with no bathroom. This small, cramped apartment also symbolized the pressures from society to divvy up the limited resources partitioned for African Americans. By setting the scene this way, Hansberry also was able to set the mood. The feelingof tension and need for the characters to fight for their fair share is apparent in the opening act, as Ruth rushes Travis into the bathroom before the neighbors. These feelings serve as a foundation for the problems in act three between brother and sister, Ruth s motive to have an abortion, and represent an explanation to the need so many African Americans felt to compete against each other. Hansberry characterized the lack of resources, a common theme here, not only in the lack of space, but also in the lack of food, money, and sunlight. As conflict intensified in the small space, Mama realized that her be loved family was falling apart and only the reality of owning a home could bring unity. To overcome the mountains of negative emotions the Youngers turn to their beckons of hope. The three main symbolic items Hansberry used were Mama s

  • 29. Similarities Between Secular And Secular Music Secular music and music intended for mass both played important roles in medieval culture. For a while, the only music was made for worship. There were certain themes and purposes that shaped church music to be the way that it was and the same with non religious music, each had a purpose. There are characteristics of each that separate them from each other and then some characteristics that make them one. One would not be the same today without the other. These styles of musicserved as a source of inspiration for later music to come. Some basic similarities between the two types of music were that both secular and religious music was monophonic, which is when a single melody is sung by a single person or by a choir in which each member sings the same part. Secular and religious music were intended for communicating feelings and gave a way to express emotions in a way like never before and both originated from oral cultures and passed down from memory until religious composers became more literate. Monks and members of the church choir were the main performers of religious music intended for mass and the troubadors, trouveres, and joungleurs were the performers of secular music. Unlike secular music, music intended for mass was taken from or inspired by the Bible for worship and was seen as a musical prayer. Singing about the scripture was another and a more intimate way to experience the Holy Spirit rather than just reading from scripture. • 32. James Polk And Manifest Destiny Around the mid 1800s, the United States was focused on the idea of expansion . This idea was influenced by Manifest Destiny a term that the U.S. not only could, but was destined to, stretch from coast to coast and its economic nature, which was the increased development and advancement of industry in the United States. As the U.S. began to grow more powerful and internally sound, they were able to add more land and, subsequently, states, into the Union. The vast majority of this expansion occurred during the presidency of James Polk as a result of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo, which ceased the Mexican American war. The conception of this war was the brainchild of Polk and was what resulted from his presidential ideologies. President James Polk was responsible for the start of the Mexican American war to a great extent due to his expansionist ideologies and succeeding actions, aspiration to annex the regions of California and Texas, and contributions of troops along the Rio GrandeRiver in 1846. To begin with, during the election of 1844, James Polk was considered to be a long shot and a definite underdog. However, Polk gained the support of many Americans through his clear desire to defend the territories of the United States and to further expand them. This ideology became prevalent through his campaign slogan, 54 40 or fight , referring to the territory that, at the time, was disputed between the United States and Great Britain, when is modern day Canada and the

It is the various regions and provinces that make up Canada, as does their political ideological landscape. Perhaps the most influential of provinces in the development of political ideology in Canada is Ontario. Robert Browning and the Power of the Dramatic Monologue Form Robert Browning and the Power of the Dramatic Monologue Form The dramatic monologue form, widely used by Victorian poets, allows the writer to engage more directly with his reader by placing him in the role of listener. Robert Browning utilised the form to a famously profound effect, creating a startling aspect to his poetry. In poems such as Porphyria s Lover, and My Last Duchess, for example, Browning induces a feeling of intimacy by presenting the reader as the confidant to the narrator s crimes; in Soliloquy of the Spanish Cloister, the reader is more a witness to the narrator s increasing instability. Depending on the religion, some of these elements may carry more weight than others. I will look at Catholicism and Voodoo and the role some of these elements play within these systems of belief. Catholicism is a monotheistic religion believing that God is the Creator of all that is. We must love and serve God in our daily life, through prayer and good works, in order to achieve salvation. Eucharist is when we receive the body and blood of Christ through the symbols of bread and wine. It further extends the initiation that took place at baptism to enter fully into the heart of Christian faith through participation in the Eucharist (catholic.org,2017). Confirmation is the final step of initiation. It is receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit that unites us more firmly with Christ and strengthens our bond with the Church. The remaining four Sacraments guide us through the rest of our life. The Sacrament of Penance is received regularly to confess our sins and seek forgiveness so that we may remain in God s grace. The Sacrament of Marriage takes place when two people commit to spend the rest of their life together, anointing of the sick is when a priest anoints a sick person with oil and offers prayers, and Holy Orders is the sacrament that takes place with the ordination of a bishop, priest, or deacon into ministry (Molloy, M., 2010). • 47. Global Opportunities for Turkey Essay Global Opportunities for Turkey The world is becoming much more connected, especially in the last few decades. The idea of being free individuals has become more important, as well as free market economies. Some ideologies have collapsed because of their antiquated offers about the political situations, yet some of them are ruling the world in the last hundred years. But if there is something certain about the whole world, it is that globalization is affecting and changing it. Turkey is located at the center of the Europe, Asia and Africa, therefore the political and economical circumstances of it are important both for the Western part and the Eastern part of the world, then, the role of the globalization is very important to Turkey.... There are many examples as well as these two in the book, but I think that they are sufficient to explain that the combining situation more effectively, that is one of the fundamentals of globalization. Just three of four decades before, the situation of Turkey in the free market was very poor. There was no opportunity to find a product of a brand that is famous world widely. You could not buy cola, you could not buy blue jeans, you could not buy good fashioned cars, etc. You can t even taste the traditional foods of the other countries, like Italian foods or Chinese cuisine. I may give much more interesting example that in the late 1970s, nearly all of the cinemas, including the major ones in the country had closed or in fact, crashed. Maybe you may not believe but, until the closing, in every town in every city, even in the many of the villages, there were cinemas. But after that, people could not find a cinema to watch the new picture of Marlon Brando or Robert De Niro even in

The key themes to be looked at in this essay are the effects that Allied Strategic Bombing had on the dislocation and demoralisation of German civilians; Germany s economic ability to produce and transport goods for the war effort; other key aspects of the war and the German war effort and, finally, its impact on the USSR. The evidence of the effectiveness of Allied Strategic Bombingof Germanystrongly suggests that it became more significant throughout the war, especially after the first one thousand bomber raid on Cologne in May 1942, and although not decisive on its own, was significant in the final outcome of the Second World War. Whilst the significance that it had on the German home front may have been more limited than hoped for, it succeeded in dislocating and demoralising German civilians. Whilst its effect on Germany s economic ability to produce and transport goods for the war effort may have been mostly limited, its effect on the transport infrastructure of German was of critical significance. Perhaps the most significant effect was bombing s impact on other areas of the war and the German war effort because of how it saved thousands of potential casualties and facilitated the D Day landings. Its impact on the USSR in terms of both keeping them as an ally and easing their invasion was also of great significance. The overall outcome from Allied Strategic Bombing may have been highly significant, but we must not fail to neglect the cost at which such a result came. 44.4% of Bomber Command crews failed to return from their missions (55,573) and over 18000 were wounded or became prisoners of war. 8,325 aircraft were lost and 1,030,500 tons of bombs were dropped. Despite the cost at which Allied Strategic Bombing came at, the evidence supports the argument that the Allied Strategic Bombing of Germany during the Second World War was significant to a large

Our analysis revealed that of the eight possible contributing factors, only three variables (namely, urbanization rate, high school dropout rate, and population density) affected property crime rates. Our data analysis model accounted for approximately 66% of the factors contributing to property crimes. The model is generally considered to be statistically strong, however, if we need to account for the remaining 34% of factors contributing to property crime rates in the U.S., further data and evaluation of other possible factors would be necessary. In the last four years my cousin and I thought we had mastered those elements. On May 12, 2016, the day before my graduation, we were proven wrong. That afternoon, we got Into an intense debate that caused our relationship to change drastically. The bond that we had was supposed to be unbreakable. No one would ve ever thought that something as simple as her not being able to get a ticket to my graduation would ve torn us apart. The main factor that caused our relationship to go astray was communication. Instead of talking face to face with each other, we communicated through text messaging. By doing this it made us say things that we wouldn t normally say to one another in person. It gave us this false sense of power that we abused with harsh word to bring the other down. We weren t able to listen and actually analyze what the other person was saying or feeling without being interrupted with the rapid fire of text messages. We decided to grow apart rather than admitting our faults and learning from them to build a better relationship for the future. Then, there was this one time we unexpectedly ended up at my grandmother s house, and to avoid being in the living room with her. I went in the bedroom and locked the door. Every piece of literature has an impactful underlying meaning and can be interpreted into universal symbols, motifs, and patterns. Archetypal Criticism is a theory based off common myths, images, and symbols in literature. The definition of an archetypal can be defined as a very typical example of a certain person or thing (Davidson). With that being said, readers can apply Archetypal Criticism to In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alvarez. The Mirabal sisters changed from being little children following their parents, to individuals leading a revolution and having other people follow them. Donne Converted to the Anglican church, or the Church of England, and took on holy orders shortly before the passing of his wife. Donne is best known for being one of the leading figures in metaphysical poetry. This form of poetry is not merely intellectual but also carries deep serious philosophical thoughts on the soul. Donne claims that when a person dies, their bones rest , which is a non permanent state, and their soul is delivered (to the afterlife); which is the existence of a life after death, this contradicts the idea of death being absolute ,both of these terms contribute to the tone of defiance and the theme that death is not absolute. As the poem progresses Donne s tone becomes stronger and even more specific: Thou art slave to fate, chance, kings, and desperate men,/ and dost with poison, war and sickness dwell... (9 10). Donne calls death a slave to all the things from which people die, reversing the long held perception that one spends a lifetime trying to escape the grasp of death by creating the idea that death spends an eternity of servitude to mortal humans. Donne s use of tone in Death Be Not Proud varies from gentle suggestion that Death is powerlessness to direct ridiculing, disproving, and rebellious tone, all of which contribute to his theme that death is neither unbounded nor

  • 57. Christmas Music In Christmas A lot of people look forward to Christmas season, especially retailers because sales gets a boost. It is the reason why a lot of shopping malls air Christmas songs ahead of the Yuletide season. However, a psychologist warned that hearing too much of the year end holiday melodies could be bad for mental health. Linda Blair, a clinical psychologist, explained that listening to too many carols makes people feel trapped. It is a constant reminder to purchase gifts, cook holiday meals, and organize Christmas parties, the Daily Mail reported. Kaching of Christmas But for those in the retail business, it is the time when the cash register keeps on ringing which is why department store and shopping mall operators start airing Christmas songs weeks ahead of December 25. As a result of the constant exposure to carols ahead of the year end holiday, 61 percent of people suffer from stress during the Yuletide, the American Psychiatric Association said. Because music bypasses rationality, it goes straight to people s emotions, Blair pointed out. It involves several brain areas that induce emotions and involve reflexes, conditioning, visual imagery, expectancy, memory, and emotional contagion. If played too loudly, Christmas music would likely irritate people. For shoppers, it would use the energy of mall goers trying not to hear the carols, Blair said. Retail workers need to tune out the Christmas music, she said; otherwise, it will stop them from being able to focus on anything else.
