Value Of Life Essay Example
Crafting an essay on the concept of the value of life is a task that delves into profound
philosophical, ethical, and personal considerations. This topic requires a delicate balance between
objective analysis and subjective interpretation, demanding a nuanced exploration of various
perspectives. One must navigate through the intricacies of defining and measuring the worth of
life, touching upon existential, cultural, and societal dimensions.
The difficulty lies in encapsulating the complexity of human existence within the confines of an
essay. To capture the essence of life's value, one must grapple with existential questions, moral
frameworks, and diverse cultural viewpoints. The challenge is not merely presenting arguments
but also delving into the emotional and intangible aspects that contribute to the tapestry of life's
significance.
Moreover, expressing these profound thoughts coherently and persuasively demands a high level
of writing skill. It necessitates the ability to seamlessly transition between abstract concepts and
concrete examples, weaving a narrative that engages the reader intellectually and emotionally.
Finding the right balance between depth of thought and clarity of expression is a formidable task.
Additionally, the value of life is a subjective notion, varying from person to person based on
individual experiences, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds. This diversity adds another layer of
complexity to the essay, as one must acknowledge and navigate the spectrum of perspectives
while maintaining a coherent argument.
In conclusion, composing an essay on the value of life is a challenging endeavor that requires
intellectual rigor, emotional sensitivity, and exceptional writing proficiency. Successfully
conveying the depth and breadth of this topic is no small feat, demanding a thoughtful
exploration of the multifaceted aspects that contribute to the understanding of life's worth.

Michael Phelps Mission Statement
To start, Micheal Phelps was inspired as a kid to for fill his dream to become a
champion swimmer, Farah Ahmedi wanted to find a better life for her and her
mother and Aengus wanted to find a glimmering girl whom he had become fond of
and then vanished before him. However, all three focused on sharing the character s
determination, hope and perseverance in reaching their missions to either help their
well being or both theirs and someone else s.
The Michael Phelps mission was to for fill his dream to become a champion
swimmer and was inspired as a keep to complete it. For example, when stated,
when he saw the swimmers compete at the 1996 Olympics in Athens, Georgia, he
started to dream about becoming a champion himself (). This shows, that when
Phleps saw the swimmers it inspired his dream to become a champion swimmer
too. But he knew it was going to be hard work. In addition, when shared, Phelps
knew he had to work harder if he wanted to be the best. Phelps undertook a mission
since his childhood to become a champion swimmer, and is now recognized to be
one of the best athletes of all time (). This means, that he knew that he had to work
have and be determined if he ever wanted to reach his goal, and it all paid off in the
end. Lastly, when written, Phelps set a world record in July 2012 for earning more
medals than any other Olympic athlete Phelps undertook a mission since his
childhood to become a champion swimmer, and is now recognized to be one of the

The Human Body in Art
In my understanding and opinion, the body in art was the starting point for any
king of art form. As some people have said, art may have actually started with the
body, such as the decoration of the body shown for example in Zulu when they used
to paint their faces with natural colours in order for them to create camouflage and
catch and kill their prey. In many ways, art is for the humanexperience and the
experience of being here, the presence, which is shaped with the representation of
the human figure. A body can convey class, age, gender and sexuality. The Bamana
Twin Figures (Mali, 20th Century Figure 1) is the representation of the Man and
the Woman, a very powerful expression of male and female. Even though both their
faces are exactly the same, the parts of the body can reveal the discrimination:
genitalia, breasts and even hair. The reason why Egyptian art has not changed and
looks very similar since 1479 1425 BCE up until now is very intentional; they are
trying to maintain their cultural tradition in which argues for stability. The Egyptian
pharaoh Akhenaten (Figure 2) is unusual compared to other Egyptian figures, such
as the traditional King, which has broad shoulders and muscular body. Akhenaten is
a lot softer and that encouraged people to think and believe that the body was
portrayed in such way because of some sort of illness or disease, but Egyptian art
was all about the concept and not the reality, it was just the idea of how it used
Andrea Del Castagno Analysis
During the Renaissance, a religious view of the world made a huge impact on art.
The biblical character David became an emerging popular subject among artists.
Although David s story is quite simple, artists faced challenges creating a visual
representation of the young hero. The two main obstacles were discovering how to
portray the body committing the act, and also rendering the spirit of the act itself.
Among the artists who tried to recreate this story visually were Andrea del Castagno
and Andrea del Verrocchio. Castagno introduced his form of the Davidthrough
painting. The piece was entitled David with the Head of Goliath, and was originally
used as a parade shield. It differed from common parade shields, which were
decorated with simple coat and arms, due to its rare painted scene. The shield was
believed to have been carried in civic or religious processions or have... Show more

His David is depicted in a confident pose after the battle with Goliath is already
won, while Castagno depicts David in both the moment of fighting the giant and
after defeating him. Both art works show Goliath s head under David s feet, but
Castagno tells more of the biblical story in his imagery and action. The piece being
painted upon a shield also plays a testimonial role. In the Old Testament, David is a
young shepherd; he uses the motive that if God protects his sheep than God too
will protect him before going into battle with Goliath. By painting this imagery on
a shield, one can conclude that God is David s shield (David). Verrocchio s work
lacks this deeper analytical meaning. Andrea del Castagno s David with Head of
Goliath stands 45 1/2 x 30 1/8 inches wide at the top and 45 1/2 x 16 inches wide at
the bottom. The work was made of tempera on leather on wood. Castagno painted
the piece in about 1450/1455. The work was part of the Widener Collection, at the

1984 Big Brother Essay
In the novel 1984, by George Orwell Big Brother does not appear in the reading but
still has a significant presence in the novel. Although Big brother never appears
physically in the novel he is considered the ruler of Oceania. All over Oceania you
can find propaganda posters with his face on it. The poster says, BIG BROTHER
IS WATCHING YOU . Big brothers face is also on coins and telescreens. Even
though the ideas and views of Big brother and the party have brainwashed most
people except a few like Winston until the end of the novel. With that the party
requires citizens to conform to the ideas of Big Brother. The citizens are also
required to praise and love Big Brother and if you are caught going against him you
will be vaporized. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Big brother propaganda did work for Winston. Instead of having respect for
face of Big Brother like other citizens of Oceania do Winston questioned the
existence of him. Eventually at the end of the book Winston is tortured into
believing that Big Brother is real. Matter of fact he begins love Big Brother. Big
brother is also on the face of telescreens at times. Telescreens keep an eye out for
people committing crimes and thought crimes. The telescreen received and
transmitted simultaneously. Any sound Winston made, above the level of a very
low whisper, would be picked up by it; moreover, so long as he remained within
the field of vision which the metal plaque commanded, he could be seen as well as
heard . In theory Big Brother is in the telescreens listening and watching everything
you do. By having telescreens and propaganda in homes and on the street it
directly affects the actions of the citizens. Now people are less likely to commit
thought crime or rebell because they are always being watched. Throughout most
of the book Winston has hated big brother. This quote is an example of his hatred.
His eyes re focused on the page. He discovered that while he sat helplessly musing
he had also been writing, as though by automatic action. And it was no longer the
same cramped, awkward handwriting as before. His pen had slid voluptuously over
the smooth paper, printing in large neat capitals DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER

Rehabilitation Center
Choosing a great drug rehabilitation center is one of the most important decisions
anyone can ever make in their lives. Proper rehab can mean the difference between
long term recovery and give up, so it is extremely important that patients
understand what to look for when shopping for a treatment plan. When deciding
on a medical rehabilitation center, there are a few things to consider: Always check
the center s licensing and accreditation first. A quality repair center should be
recognized in the state in which it operates. Be suspicious at centers that do not or
who are not easy to provide current license and accreditation information. If they
can not meet their state home accreditation criteria, it should not be considered.
Always check to see who is driving the drug rehabilitation center. An accredited
center should be run by trained doctors, psychiatrists, and professional specialists.
Do not decide anything less than a person who is properly trained on how to handle
the physical and mental effects of detoxification and drugs. It can be futile and
dangerous. Check which types of treatment plans are available. No two cases are the
same, and not all rehabilitation programs are created equally. The best rehabilitation
centers will offer a range of programs based on their patient needs from... Show more

They will be able to point you in the right direction when it comes to efficient, well
accredited and licensed facilities in your country and may provide you with a referral
for insurance goals. Check out independent organizations like the Better Business
Bureau. The effectiveness of a drug rehab center is not just the standard to look at; It
is also important to see what kind of complaints the previous patients and their
families may have. The Better Business Bureau may provide some insights into these
complaints and help potential patients decide whether a treatment center will really

Pros And Cons Of Cruelty-Free And Vegan
Today, much hype is centered on organic, gluten free, and vegan and cruelty free
products. For many individuals, their lifestyle entails one or another of these
themes. With regards to a cruelty free and vegan, those of whom have taken this
path, have selected a lifestyle that they deem suitable and healthy and/or are driven
by moral or ethical principles that are geared towards minimizing the affliction or
cruelty of animals. There are organizations that encourages consumers to make
conscientious choices regarding the personal care products that they purchase.
Cruelty free is a broad label that is not clearly defined by law and does not always
mean that an animal was not armed or killed during the production of a product. A
vegan abstains from the use of animal products and rejects the commodity status of
animals. The big question is Can something be called cruelty free and vegan at the
same time? What is Cruelty Free? A lot of product labels are not what they seem,
and the same can be said of labels that read cruelty free . The term is not defined by
a government agency, nor is there a particular set of standards that accompanies its
usage, and as such, each company that adopts the label is free to define for
themselves what cruelty free signifies. It is easy to see how one can construe that
these ambiguities can make these labels meaningless. Cruelty free can pertain to both
the finished product, along with any individual ingredients. Leaping Bunny and

The Revolution And Its Effects On The American Revolution
It is generally agreed upon that the Revolution was guaranteed even foretold since
the idea of settling on it was even suggested no one can give a large group of
people the idea to run themselves and still keep control from thousands of miles
away. England had it, but lost that control of their child nation in 1766 when they
revoked the Stamp Act and gave the colonists the notion that they had the power and
authority to independently run the budding country. After being allowed this minute
freedom, the colonists were not pleased with Parliament s taxes and attempts of an
iron fist hold on the Americas and along with their opposing views on nearly
everything, decided that they were no longer pleased with being considered British.
Salutary neglect also contributed to the colonists inflated sense of pride aptly
named because at this time England neglected the colonies, giving them room for
individual theories, politics, beliefs, and the abilities to run their own lives for a
while. The freedom was too much for them to go back to how things were before
when England decided to tighten their grip. At this time, the colonists started a war to
free themselves. Parliamentary taxation was the catalyst to the slew of problems the
Americans were having with their over seas overlords. The preliminary Parliament
imposed tax that threatened the colonies was the Molasses Act, which was caused by
profit loss for the British under the Navigation Acts, and their need to recoup

Nucor was the first in the industry to adopt a number of new products and innovative
processes. Nucor s strategy can be elaborated as follows;
Performance Based Compensation Strategy
Compared to the other competitors Nucor provided employees with a performance
related compensation system. All employees were covered under one of four basic
compensation plans, each featuring incentives related to meeting specific goals and
targets. 1. Production Incentive Plan.
Employees those directly involved in manufacturing were paid weekly bonuses
based on actual output in relation to anticipated production tonnages produced. The
bonuses were paid only for work that met quality standards and were pegged to
work groups, rather than individual output. Bonuses were tied to attendance and
tardiness standards. If one worker s tardiness or attendance problems caused the
group to miss its weekly output target, every member of the group was denied a
bonus for that week. If they are late, even only five minutes, they lose their bonus for
the day. If they are thirty minutes late or they are absent for sickness or anything else,
they lose their bonus for the week. 2. Department Manager Incentive Plan.
Nucor s department managers oversaw the production supervisors and, in turn,
reported directly to the general manager of their plant. They earned an annual
incentive bonus based on
Molson s Beer Commercial
Consumption of beer is a deep rooted ritual for Canadians. It is used as a social

Back in the year 2000, this advertisement gained a lot of popularity and made the
Molson beer to be enjoyed while participating in Canadian social cultures such as
watching NHL game. As mentioned in the article, imported beer was preferred over
the domestic one. Molson, in its attempt to increase its market share and target the
majority of the population, joined hands with the American Coors beer company. It
makes me wonder what really is the difference between Canada and America now?
Does the binary actually exist in the real world or was it just an attempt by Molson
Company to meet their capitalist means? The message of their commercial today
does not reflect their company s value system. It does not portray the same patriotism

The Humanistic Theory And The Kubler-Ross Five Stage
Grief...
This essay looks to explain how both the Humanistic theory and the Kubler ross
five stage grief model can be applied to the loss of a limb. It will also be looking at
how these theories can help the healthcare team in their care provision.
The loss of a limb is a great loss to a person and would be difficult for anyone to
comprehend initially and some never can. It affects all areas of a person s life from
the obvious physical aspect to mentally/emotionally. Apart from losing a limb they
must comprehend the reason why they had a limb amputated, for example through
disease or trauma (Healio,2002). The humanistic theory, particularly the work of Carl
Rogers and Abraham Maslow, has been a great breakthrough within psychology,
especially when looking at the emotions, thoughts and behaviour of an amputee.
Unlike other psychological theories the humanistic theory aims to look at a person
s feelings and to see life as they see it rather than from the perspective of an
observer(Mcleod,2015). According to Roger s humanistic theory, every person
has the built in drive and ability to be the best that they can be. This means to self
actualise. To achieve self actualisation a person needs a high self concept which the
theory explains has three main components. These are self image, self esteem and
ideal self (McLeod, 2014). The loss of a limb affects a person s self concept. The loss
of a limb may make a person feel no longer attractive and deserving of any forms of
attention. As their

Thirdly, a context aware system in health care systems is briefly described in section
1.3, and finally we discussed the adaptive of context aware user interfaces . 1.1
Context Aware framework In mobile environments, An efficient way of improving
the usability of mobile services and applications is to adapt the contents and
presentation of services to the user and his/her current context so that the amount of
user interaction will be minimized when the user has a quick access to the
information or services that the user need in current context of use. Context refers to
the environment in which the Smartphone is present such that the information of
such environment can be used to characterize the situation of an entity. For example,
the group of users is currently with the types of equipment and communications
technology available, and a user s physical location. For example, a mobile user
may wish to deliver an e mail to automatically at the earliest possible opportunity or
to deliver according to a specific situation, removing the need to return periodically
to the personal desk top to check for new mail. As the user moves, a context aware e
mail delivery application needs to know the situation of the user or the surrounding
environment to determine the suitability way for delivering e mail. Another example
is that a user attempting to contact a colleague; a suitable context aware application

Taking a Look at the Titan Arum
The Titan arum is a magnificent plant that stands high above the plumage of other
plants. It is a member of the Araceae family that is known to grow an inflorescence
while also being enclosed by a leafy shield known as a spathe. The Titan arum, or
Amorphophallus titanum was first discovered by Italian botanist Odoardo Beccari in
1878. Titan arumare known to grow as large as 3.06 meters tall in controlled
botanical gardens (Barthlott et al.). Just a single blossomed flower of the Titan
arum can stretch out to be three feet across and 36 pounds. The flowers also retain
a darkish red, almost flesh colored hue (Milius). It took a staggering 11 years for
the first instance of blooming to occur in this plant in 1889 at the Royal Botanic
Gardens, Kew. The snail like pace of this flowers maturity is demonstrated by the
fact that only 21 flowerings were recorded across the world until 1989. In all
aspects of size, this flower trumps others. the Titan arum s flowering structure can
grow up to measurements of 10 centimeters a day up to a height of 2.9 meters or
roughly 9 and a half feet tall. Leaf height can reach a towering height of 6 meters,
leaf width can reach 4.5 meters, and the tuber, the energy storing structure of the
plant, can grow to be 150 pounds. This hefty tuber can also grow into the ground and
stay formant for one to three years (RBG). These monstrous plants, however stalwart
they might seem, have been placed under a vulnerable condition due to their

In the last 100 years, Earth s average temperature has risen by 1.4В°F. The rising
global temperatures have caused changes in weather and climate. Global warming
refers to the ongoing rise in the average temperature near Earth s surface. This is
causing a climate change, which refers to any significant change (major change in
temperature, precipitation, or wind patterns) in the measures of climatelasting for an
extended period of time (several decades or longer). Due to this, it is projected that
the temperature will rise from 2 to 11.5В°F in the next hundred years (US EPA,
2014). The drivers, which are the principal causes making this occur, are very
controversial. It is debated whether a change in temperature is due to the work of...

In the summer, the amount of sunshine received in the Northern Hemisphere can
control the advance and retreat of ice sheets because of changes in Earth s orbit. This
has been the cause of ice ages in the past, when Earth has experienced long periods
of cold temperatures (NRC, 2010). The second main driver of global temperature
change is reflectivity. Changes in reflectivity affect how much energy enter Earth s
system. When the sunlight reaches Earth, it can be reflected or absorbed, and that
depends on the Earth s surface and atmosphere; light colors reflect the most sunlight,
while dark colors absorb more sunlight. Albedo, the amount of solar radiation
reflected from an object or surface, indicates the amount of sunlight reflected as a
percentage. Earth has an albedo of about 30%, which means that 70% of the
sunlight is absorbed (NRC, 2010). This is important because the sunlight absorbed
warms the land, water and atmosphere. In the past, this can be seen in the melting
of sea ice or increases in cloud cover. Aerosols are particles in the atmosphere that
affect reflectivity, which affect the amount of energy that enters Earth, ultimately
affecting global temperature change. An example of this can be seen in volcanic
eruptions. Volcanic particles that reach the upper atmosphere are able to reflect
enough sunlight back to space, which can cool the surface of Earth by a few tenths
of a degree for a few years (Hegerl, 2007). The third

DISTRIBUTION IN BANKING BUSINESS
Distribution in financial services marketing is concerned with how the service is
delivered to the customer, making sure that it is available in a place, at a time and in
a format that is appropriate and convenient for the customer.
In a growing number of countries, the expansion of the financial services sector has
been accompanied by a significant blurring of lines between different institutional
types with, for instance, retail banks offering insurance products (bancassuarance),
insurance companies offering bank accounts and supermarkets launching their own
credit cards. As a consequence, individual organizations can no longer claim a
distinctive market position based on the products they offer. ... Show more content on

For example: money transfer agents, commission payment agents...
Rationale for banking agents
Banking agents help financial institutions to divert existing customers from crowded
branches providing a complementary , often more convenient channel. Other
financial institutions, especially in developing markets, use agents to reach an
additional client segment or geography. Reaching poor clients in rural areas is often
prohibitively expensive for financial institutions since transaction numbers and
volumes do not cover the cost of a branch. In such environments banking agents that
piggy back on existing retail infrastructure and lower set up and running cost can
play a vital role in offering many low income people their first time access to a
range of financial services. Also, low income clients often feel more comfortable
banking at their local store than walking into a marble branch.
Banking agents are the backbone of mobile banking, i.e., performing transactions
over a mobile device, most often a mobile phone. To enable clients to convert cash
into electronic money and vice versa which can send be sent over their mobile
phone, clients will have to visit a branch, automated teller machine (ATM), or
banking agent. Especially in remote and rural locations, where cash is still the most
important way to pay and transact, a mobile banking service is dependent on
Connecting Frame Of Electrical Equipment
INTRODUCTION
Grounding or earthing explain the concept of connecting frame of electrical
equipment (non current carrying part) or some electrical part of the system (e.g.
neutral point in a star of the system, one conductor of the secondary of a transformer)
with the respect to the earth. In electrical engineering, ground or earth is the reference
point in an electric circuit from which voltage is measured, a common path for
electric current, or direct physical connection to the earth. Bear in mind that this
connection to earth may be through a conductor or some other circuit element which
may be; resistors, circuit breakers depending upon the situation.
In electricity supply system, an earthing (grounding) system defines the electrical
potential of the conductors relative to that of the earth s conductive surface. The
choice of earthing system has implications for the safety and electromagnetic
compatibility of the power supply.
Electrical circuit may be connected to ground (earth) for several reasons:
In main powered equipment, exposed metal part are connected to ground to prevent
user contact with dangerous voltage if electrical insulation fails.
Connection to ground limits the build up static electricity when handling flammable
product or electrostatic sensitive device.
EARTHING SYSTEMS
Earthing (grounding) system defines the electrical potential of the conductors relative
to the earth s conductive surface. Regulations may be vary considerable between

Imagine a world ruled by women. Would there be slavery? Would racism exist? We

human race is discrimination, not only between races, cultures, and ethnicity, but
also gender. Women were once considered the property of men; as well as, they
were not allowed to coexist in government, vote, or own property, and African
American women were denied basic personhood. In these past few hundred years
women, especially those of color, have had the greatest burden of discrimination in

Divergent Reflection
Divergent is a great coming of age novel because the protagonist undergoes a
transformative change of character. In Divergent the main character Beatrice,
whose name means voyageur, goes on a journey that changes not only her name,
but her social standing, physical and psychological well being as well. The story
begins with Beatrice being a member of the Abnegation faction. The Abnegation
faction values selflessness above all other virtues, and Beatrice has been raised to
put others before herself. Although her faction is a tight knit community brought
together by their humanitarian ways, she is very introverted and withdrawn.
When she looks at the Abnegation lifestyle as an outsider, [she] thinks it s
beautiful. It s only when [she tries] to live it [herself] that [she has] trouble. It
never feels genuine (Roth 36). She doesn t feel she belongs there and feels guilty
for having selfish tendencies. When Tris chooses to switch from Abnegation to
Dauntless, she begins to become more social. She becomes friends with Christina,
another initiate, and states that she has not really had a friend before, period. It s
impossible to have real friendship when no one feels like they can accept help or
even talk about themselves. That won t happen here. I already know more about
Christina than I ever knew about Susan, and it s only been two days ( ). She is
starting to step outside of her comfort zone and is making more connections with the

Witness False Identification with the Presence of Facial Tattoos
Common police procedure entails an identification lineup in which the witness to the
crime supposedly can identify the culprit, which will lead to the closure of the case
and the person of guilt locked up. However, with this lineup procedure, the question
arises, what if there is another variable involved? This is asking, what if there was
something else that led the eyewitness to select the individual that they did? With this
the issue of individuals enduring jail time for a crime they did not commit arises. In
recent years, there has been a significant amount of attention brought towards
wrongful convictions due to advancements in technology. According to the Innocence

range from a variety of physical characteristics. People tend to associate criminality
with features including long or shaggy dark hair, tattoos, beady eyes, and scars.
Unattractiveness is also commonly associated with criminality and physically
unattractive people are believed to be more likely to commit criminal acts than
attractive people (Flowe Humpries, 2011). If there is a lineup member who the
witness believes to suit his or her idea of a criminal, the likelihood of that individual

How Family Dysfunction Affects Children
As an LDS counselor in Plano, TX, I have seen the many ways that children are
affected by living within a dysfunctional family. Children can suffer from a variety of
lifelong problems that include anxiety, depression or suicidal thoughts, addiction to
alcohol or narcotics, sexual dysfunctions including sexual abuse, paranoia, low self
esteem, bullying others, lack of self control, joining a cult and replicating their
dysfunction with their own families when they are
Resourcing Talent
Talent Planning in Organisations CIPD, 2012 defines resourcing and talent planning
as Ensuring that the organisation is able to identify and attract key people with the
capability to create competitive advantage and that it actively manages an appropriate
balance of resource to meet changing needs, fulfilling the short and long term
ambitions of the organisation strategy. There are many different factors that affect
organisation s approach to attracting talent. One factor is an expansion of the
organisation. When an organisation expands, planning is vital as they do not want to
end up with too much knowledge and skills in one area while not enough in another.
Skill shortage is another factor that affects organisational approach to... Show more

Agencies are often used to employ temporary staff. A benefit of using employment
agencies is that they are able to recruit people quickly as they already have many
people looking for work on their books and they can sift out suitable applicants
with the necessary qualifications or experience easily without the organisation
having to look through many CV s or application forms. A less common way of
recruiting is through specialist selection consultants. This way is mostly used to
recruit people into higher level specialist roles which can be often hard to recruit.
The benefit of using a consultant to recruit is similar to that of an employment
agency except that the calibre of the people that consultants deal with is those of
more specialist roles which are hard to recruit to. After advertising a position the
next step is the selection process. After shortlisting suitable candidates for the
vacancy the organisation can use various selection methods to find the right person
for the vacancy. The most common selection process is an interview. The interview
is a chance for the applicant to sell themselves and for the organisation to learn
more about the applicant as the information on application forms and CV s are
limited. A benefit of interviewing is to see how the applicant responds under
pressure and on the spot. Another selection process is assessment centres. These are
often a full day of tests and activities designed to test the skills and abilities of
Human Perception Of The World
Introduction Our perception of the world as individuals is unusually thought of
because we are unaware of the physiological and psychological capabilities our
brains possess. Through sound, recognition, and vision, animals have inherited these
traits for generations. One significant factor pertaining to who we are and how we
perceive the world around us are influenced by the genes inherited in our lineage.
One particular trait that is important in our lives is color visionand color blindness,
particularly cone dysfunction syndrome. Cone dysfunction syndrome is a
heterogeneous group of inherited disorders resulting from a mutation of
photopigment genes (Simunovic 1998). This rare form of visual deficiency can
branch from achromatopsia,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The red green opsins are the most susceptible for mutation due to the localization of
each protein, producing color blindness. The localization of the red and green
opsins is near each other and contains ninety eight percent identical in their DNA
sequences (Sanders et al 2012). Mutations in these genes are caused by an error
during crossover in prophase I of female meiosis. It occurs in female meiosis rather
than male meiosis due to the fact that opsin genes are produced by the X linked
chromosome which females possess. This states that mothers are the sole carriers
of color blindness and it is rare for a female to express color blindness. Dalton s
eyes contributed to the understanding of color vision 150 years after his death. His
interests on color blindness have paved the way to understand color deficiency in our
society.
Achromatopsia
In Color Vision and Genetics in a Case of Cone Dysfunction Syndrome, Crognale
and Neitz ask the question: How drastic are genetic variability s influential to our
perception of color vision? To further answer this question, both researchers
analyzed cone dysfunction syndrome and how it varies from normal color vision by
having a patient in the study with an abnormal case of color vision ranging between
achromatopsia to mild green deficiencies. Achromatopsia is the condition in which
people perceive the world only of shades of grey while having normal cones in the
retina (Snowden 2006).

Observational, case study, and survey are the three types of research methods. The
first method is the observational method where the behavior of animals and/or

difference between the two settings is one allows scientists to view the person or
animal in their natural habitat whereas the laboratory setting allows a controlled
environment. Qualitative is the best research for observational (Creswell). Case
studies are a type of research method that leads to a testable hypotheses and often
involves an in depth study of a person or group. The flaw to this type of study is the
errors in bias by the researcher and an individual s own description (Creswell). Case
studies are often quantitative. The survey method is the other research type and
involves having individuals answer questions in the form of a questionnaire or

The accident by Dave eggers is a story about the wrong perceptions one might have
against a certain type of people. the stereotypes society have created that lives in
some of our hearts and cause us to misunderstand others, and how contact with
another person can change our views on others and ourselves. In the story an older
man runs into the back of a Camaro driven by a teenage guy and his 2 friends. The
man damaged the car true enough and as he began to get out of the car to apologize,
make sure everyone was okay he thought to himself all the troubling outcomes that
could stem from this accident. He thought about the possibilities of getting into a

with a physical conflict at its core just waiting to happen. The accident was the
older man s fault and who wouldn t be upset if someone hits your car? None of
them is hurt, but the car is wrecked. Just bought this today, the driver says. Just

the agricultural sector where in 1991 it equated to 30% of all GDP (Rudolph, 1987,
Table

population dwell in either small rural villages or farms (World Hunger and Poverty
Facts, 2013). India has therefore managed to combine its impressive economic
achievements, which can match that of the developed world, whilst continually
facing humanitarian issues present in developing nations. This conclusion suggests
that economic development does not necessarily have a correlation with human
development. Until recently, a common view of development referred to rising
income levels and overall economic growth of a country. However, in recent years a
shift towards focusing upon humanity issues and circumstances rather than monetary
concerns reflects the new definition of a nation s development, which can be
measured by the Human Development Indicator (HDI) produced by the United Nation
Development Programme in 1990. Discussions on the goals of development now
involve emphasizing the reduction of poverty, rather than raising the average levels
of income per capita (Anand Ravallion, 1993, p. 133).
Deep Sea Hydrothermal Vents Theory
Did you know that, at one point, there was no life on Earth? There are many
theories for how life began on our planet, Earth; no one knows which theory is
true, and humans may never actually know for sure. There is a lot of evidence for
each theory, each evidence only as legitimate as you believe it to be. These theories
are greatly varied, spanning from life being created in deep sea vents in the oceans
to lightning hitting the ground and sending off sparks that form new compounds.
The Deep Sea Hydrothermal Vents theory is one of the theories that is best
supported by evidence and logic. Millions of years ago, before life had formed, there
were hydrothermal vents deep under the oceans, and they were thought to be a

Stanley Miller then ran currents through the atmosphere of his simulated environment
to produce the lightning storms that he believed to be frequent in early Earth s
environment ( Miller/Urey Experiment ). Stanley Miller analyzed the results of the
experiment and saw that the electric currents that were simulating the lightning in
the lightning storms were coming down and the sparks were creating the amino
acids ( Miller/Urey Experiment ). The experiment that Stanley Miller and Harold
Urey conducted opened up many more theories for how life on Earth may have
started, showing that there was a way that organic compounds could be turned into
amino acids and then the amino acids could have been created and linked together to
form the first living organisms ( The Origin of Life and The Suppression of Truth ).
The conditions in the lab were what many scientists, maybe even most of the
scientists that had speculated on the topic, at the time had believed the conditions of
the atmosphere and environment on early Earth to have been like at the time of the
creation of the set up to the start of life
Analysis Of The Book Revelation
Written in a culture divergent and foreign to modern audiences, the Book of
Revelation is a challenging text to interpret. With rich symbolism and visions, which
were intrinsic to the first hearers, this book is classified under the label of an
Apocalypse. Apocalyptic literature, often ornamented with intricate visions,
symbolism and numerology, is a classification of cataclysmic Jewish writings which
incorporate impressions of heaven. The term Apocalypseis translated into revelation
or unveiling (Keener 31). Composed of numerous allusion to the Old Testament, the
Book of Revelationwas originally sent to the seven churches in Asia Minor to be
read in the context of liturgy concerning the imminent future (Filho, 214). That being
said, it is important to understand the book of Revelation not only through the
historical perspective but also as a liturgical context as it contains many hymns and
other liturgical elements (Filho, 214). This paper will explore Revelation 4:1 11 in
terms of context, Old Testament allusions, liturgical symbolism and modern
significance, as it is a beautiful depiction of earth joining perpetual heavenly
worship. According to Keener, the central message of the book of Revelation is the
encouragement of Christians facing persecution in Asia Minor (Keener 39).
Historical context and biblical allusions are crucial to the interpretation of the Book
of Revelation as seventy percent of the content found in the Book of Revelation is a

Art Deco Movement Essay
The art deco movement was the most fashionable and international design movement
in the modern art from1925 until the 1940s. this exemplary movement had major
influences on people and some great examples of this movement are the geometric
designs on New York s famous Chrysler building and Rockefeller Centre.
Just like arts and crafts movement and the Bauhaus movement, art deco also
embraced all type of arts inclusive of crafts and fine arts. The main purpose of this
movement was to bring back the decorations in art which were minimized by the
Bauhaus movement. Art deco was mainly applied to decorative art like interior
design, furniture, architecture, graphics and so on.
The art deco style represented modernity, as it was characterized by smooth lines and
geometric shapes, streamlined forms and sometimes loud colors.

her kidnapper. Kimmy is seeking to make a name for herself in the big city with

result in punishment by court martial and can include offenses such as desertion,

times there is a panel (jury). The code provides for the selection of the jury by the
convening authority and usually consists of officers: only by written request by an
enlisted defendant will enlisted personnel be assigned to served on court martial, and
even then he is only guaranteed that one third of the court member will be enlisted

the range of severe to no punishment given, except when a mandatory minimum
sentence is required by the UCMJ (Schmid, 2011). There is not a lot of instruction
that is given out to those adjudicating the case, however, The panel is instructed that
the five reasons for sentencing are rehabilitation, punishment, protection of the

Why Year Round School Is More Harm Than Good
Children Need Summer Break
Students look forward to getting out of school for summer. They count down the
last few days until the bell rings on that last day and they are out for summer break.
They get so excited to be able to go on vacations, spend more time reading, visiting
family, and of course, sleeping in. Children also look forward to going back to school
after summer break. They are so excited for the first day of class that they have to
get all new school supplies. They wake up extra early and are ready to learn on that
first day. If school was all year round, I believe students would never look forward
to school and would affect their learning. Therefore, in my opinion, I do not believe
school should be year round.
Why Year Round School Is More Harm Than Good
Year round schooling is a topic that is emerging widely throughout the United States
in this day and time. It is said that it is suppose to better the school systems and help
students with their schoolwork. However, I think year round schooling could do
more harm than good to students, families, as well as teachers. A few ways that it
could be more harm than good are that the school would have to spend more money
to keep the school running, not enough vacation time, and conflicts with the teachers
and administrators. With year round school, the budget will go up with the cost to
provide food, utilities, and other things that are provided for the students. In order for
the school to stay up and

A reason to support is, Americans are not allowing immigrants because of their

America is giving immigrants jobs to support themselves economically and

do before and after the work outs. Warm ups like slow walks and stretch out before
long walks may help you to cover more distance in few seconds.

Burden Of Proof Essay
Burden of proof is the duty placed upon a party to prove or disprove a disputed
fact. Burden of proof needs evidence and facts to back up the idea of it. In the most
basic concept of burden proof, the defense has to prove innocence and the prosecution
has to prove the guilt. The standard of proof in a criminal trial gives the prosecutor a
much greater burden than the plaintiff in a civil trial. The defendant must be found
guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, which means the evidence must be so compelling
that there is no possible reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the crime. In
most criminal cases, the burden of proof falls upon the prosecution, who must
demonstrate the defendant is guilty before a jurymay convict him or her.... Show more

The defense has the burden of proof when they are using defenses like self defense,
battered woman syndrome and insanity. With the insanity defense, the defense has to
prove that the individual committing the crime was not in the right state of mind
when they did so. So, along with the prosecution having to prove guilt, they also have
to disprove the defenses theory of insanity. In the case of the battered woman
syndrome, the defense would have to prove that the abuse had been occurring for a
long time and that she was in imminent danger. The prosecution would then have to
disprove that the wife was in imminent danger of her husband. The burden of proof
can shift back and forth throughout a trial. For instance, suppose the prosecution
shows that, when searching the defendant, the police found a ring that reflects as an
item that was stolen in a house invasion. In defense of a burglary charge, the
defendant or defense could create a plausible explanation for possessing the ring
legally. They could do this by producing a receipt or testimony from a family
member that the watch they had found in the defendants possession was in fact a gift.
This would shift the burden back to the prosecution to disprove the gift theory. The
prosecution could do so by having surveillance footage of the defendant putting the
ring in his pocket during the crime. They could also have
My Life With A Good Guy Who Catches The Bad Guys
When I was young I would love to run around with my childhood friends and
pretend that we are cops. While some of our friend are the bad guys. I always
enjoy playing as the good guy who catches the bad guys. I made a very good leader
in the group, I told them the plan and how we are going to get the bad guys. I
never did like Barbie dolls, I was always into boys toys when I was younger. My
freshman year of high school I ve thought about joining the military because of all
the benefits and how much money I could make. My father wanted all of his
children to join the military, I never really knew exactly why but I guess if you are
a military parent it ll make you proud. I then fell in love with basketball, but I
thought I was too short for it. When I graduated high school I did not know what I
wanted to be and how I am going to live my adult life. I did not know what to take
for college or what I want to major on. I was a big procrastinator and such a lazy
person; I gain weight because all I do is eat, school, and sleep. As I realized that
my life started to drift off from success, something pop up in my head that I needed
to pull myself together. The first thing that I had in mind is how am I going to pay
my loan from school after I graduate. I could barely put gas in my car, what more if
I had bills to pay. I did not want to become homeless and to be struggling throughout
my whole life. Then it finally hit me, why not try to join the military? I did wanted to
be active
Similarities Between Black Widow And Hulk
The Avenger, one of the best movies. It is a great story. Also, it has great character,
their personalities are amazing. Specially, when each character has a characteristic
that distinguish them from others. I will focus on the incredible Hulk and the
Black Widow. The Black Widow and Hulk are superheroes, but they are different at
their anger, reaction and body size. The similarity between Black Widow and Hulk
are both possesses superpowers. Hulk can get his strength when he just becomes
anger. He is known for his hot temper, and his anger so easily triggered even by the
smallest of things. However, the Black Widow is usually calm and she can restrain
herself even when gets anger. She does not act on anger, but instead, remains
Indigenous Community Policing
As noted in the Sarre reading, community policing is largely ineffective within
Indigenous communities. Despite this reading being almost 10 years old, it is
extremely disheartening to know that nothing has changed since then. Despite, many
police organisations hailing community policing as a paradigm shift from the
professional model of policing to a more inclusive model of community partnership
of crimefighting, community policing still has major downfalls particularly in remote
Indigenous communities. Policestations are increasingly found in remote Indigenous
communities with an extremely large visual presence in contrast to other government
services, with many remote communities having more police officers per 1000,000
than most metropolitan communities. The type of policing carried out in such remote
communities is distinctly different to what occurs in metropolitan areas with a
greater focus placed on petty crime such as driving, drug and alcohol offences.
Indigenous communities are grossly over policed due to a lack of trust of indigenous
people and faith in such... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This notion is only made worse in communities, especially in remote indigenous
communities that have had a long history of poor relations with the police. In order
for community policing to have a place in the future of policing in remote
communities, there must be an emphasis placed on building effective partnerships
with community members, which includes collaboration and communication and a
focus on culturally competency. Similarly, there must be a focus on developing a
specific community policing plan highlighting key priorities within remote
communities and examining the community s capacity to help in this process. We
need to move towards self determination and such processes as circle sentencing and
diversionary
Causes Of The Trojan War
The Trojan War was during the Bronze Age in the 12th or 13th century BC. It was
between Greece and Troy. The Trojan War mainly started when the Greeks brought
a wooden horse over to Troy as a sign of peace. However, it was used to take over
Troy since there were many armed men in the horse. A downfall the Trojans had
that led up to this point in time was that they were foolish, Four times did the Horse
halt as they dragged it, before it passed through the gate, and each time their might
have been heard a great clashing of arms within (Church 9). In the Horse, there were
sounds being made but the Trojans did not pay attention to these signs and Troy
suffered as a result. Overall, the Trojan Warwas created due to many gods fighting
over Helen and because of this Troy was taken over by Greece and Aeneas and his
crew had to relocate and find a new safe place to live with the help of Venus and
Apollo by their side.
To begin with, there were a few causes that led up to Greece taking over. The main
cause that brought the Greeks to take over was the influence of the gods. And as
for Helen, why are you angry with her? It is not she, it is not Paris, that has brought
this great city of Troy to ruin; it is the anger of the gods (Church 15). Queen Helen
was captured by Paris so, Helen s husband, Menelaus, lead an expedition to find her.
With the help of Menelaus brother, Agamemnon, they made it to Asia minor, to lay
siege to Troy and requested for Helen s return by Priam and
The Replication Of Cell The Cell Cycle Essay
Question 1
a.According to McKinley, O Loughlin and Bidle (2015), the replication of cells in
the cell cycle included two general phases which are Interphase and Mitotic phase.
As for the Interphase, the stage of preparation of cell division, it is normally
divided into three phases which are G1, S and G2 phases and this process take
approximately 23 hours. Firstly, G1 phase is the stage that the cell occurs growth and
preparation for the S phase which is DNA replication. After that, DNA molecule
unwind and the hydrogen bonds that are holding between the DNA bases are
broken, therefore, the DNA break into two DNA strands and the free
deoxyribonucleotides attach to the expose site following the rule of code by the
hydrogen bond and phosphodiester bond and assembled a new DNA strand,
therefore, the cell have two new DNA strand and its return to coiled and double
helix structure. The cell grows and prepares further for the division of DNA.
Turning to Mitotic, chromosomes are formed by the coiling of chromatin and the
nucleolus breaks down. Then, the centrioles begin to form the spindle fibres and
move into opposite cell poles, the the envelope of the nuclear breaks down and this
stage is called Prophase. As for Metaphase, the spindle fibres attach to the
chromosomes, which line up along the centre of the cell. In Anaphase stage, the
sister chromatids being pulled apart by spindle fibres and move toward into the
opposite end of the cell and each chromatid is a chromosome with
Symptoms And Treatment Of Infants
Some might wonder, well what exactly is skin to skin contact after birth? Skin to
skin contact is basically when the newborn is placed in their mother s arms or belly
and left there. Once left there the newborn usually finds its way to the breast to be
breast feed. Research has shown that newborns tend to be more alert within the first
two hours of life. When a healthy naked newborn is placed in skin to skin contact at
birth, it uses its senses to set a course and eventually will find and attach itself to the
breast. All healthy babies should be dried and placed naked on the mother s chest for
skin to skin contact immediately after birth, and held there in a peaceful environment
until the infanthas made contact with the breast. This... Show more content on

Also it allows the baby to be colonized by the same bacteria as the mother, which is
thought to be important in the prevention of allergic diseases. Having skin to skin
contact also helps the infant receive colostrums from its mother leading to a good
start of hormone balance, attachment, and local immune protection and feeding.
Skin to skin contact has a big benefit for breastfeeding. For example, infants who
receive contact with their mothers right after birth show early establishment of
effective breastfeeding and longer duration of breastfeeding. A Cochrane review of
eight studies showed that mothers who had skin to skin contact were twice as likely
to still be breastfeeding at one to three months as those who did not have contact. The
amount of contact between the mother and their baby during the first two hours can
influence the duration of breastfeeding. The study also showed that infants were
suckling at the breast at fifty minutes after birth. A newborns skin and hands has the
same scent as the mother s breast, which makes it easier for the infant to find the
breast. So it is recommended not to wash the mother s breast or the infant s hands
prior to the first feeding because it can interfere with the breastfeeding. Another study
conducted in a hospital found that mothers who breastfeed their infants kept their
babies with them for an average of a hundred minutes longer each day than mothers
who did not breast feed in the first hour, this lead to

Tagish Lake Research Paper
Most of us are familiar with the panspermia hypothesis that life can be seeded from
asteroid, comet, and planetoid contents but to date, no direct evidence has been
discovered. So, why should we consider meteorites to be possible parents? The truth
is out there somewhere and these space rocks contain the essentials, as far down as
to amino acids. Until now, what has been recovered has been regarded as structured.
However, the matter of Tagish Lake arose.
In January of 2000, a huge meteoroid exploded in our planet s atmosphere over
Northern British Columbia in Canada, which resulted in falling debris over Tagish
Lake, while frozen. This observed fall was rare, and the meteorites were harvested
meticulously, preserved in their frozen state, and documented. There are two reasons:
to preserve the space stone s integrity and to ensure that no contamination could take
place either to the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It involves more than just documenting the date and time of the observed event and
where the fragments were harvested. To be properly conducted, the field must be
measured. Each fragment must be photographed in it s finding position in addition to
the depth being measured and other important steps to properly document the event.
Nothing should be left to speculation.
These first Tagish Lake samples are the nearest we have to an return mission of an
asteroid sample in terms of purity, adds NASA s Godard Space Flight Center s Dr.
Michael Callahan in Greenbelt, MD, a co author on the paper.
The scientists Tagish Lake meteorite discovery is rich in carbon and contains a
myriad of organic matter, which includes amino acids. While amino acids aren t new
to meteoritic structure, what was extraordinary about this discovery was that different
pieces had greatly variable amino acid

Zlata And Anne Frank Comparison Essay
Based off my background of Zlata s Diary and The Diary of Anne Frank, I can tell
that Zlata and Anne Frank are very similar. One way they are similar is because they
both went through war, and kept a diary of all their occurrences. A second similarity
the both have is that their diary was basically like their best friend during the wars the
went through. Lastly, they were both around the same age when they started the war
and writing in their diaries.
One difference between Zlata and Anne Frank is that Zlata was in the Bosnian war,
and Anne Frank was in the Holocaust. Another difference is that Anne Frank was
born a long time before Zlata, making her obviously older. Lastly, Anne Frank did
die, and Zlata didn t by the end of the book/war. ... Show more content on

Anne Frank barely had any freedom, for the sake of her life. Zlata as well, but she
was able to do some things Anne Frank was not able to do. Another difference is that
Anne Frank had many more people involved with her than Zlata. Zlata had her
parents and some of her other relatives, Anne Frank had her family and other friends
as well. Zlata really never talked a lot about her friends, for a long time at least.
Throughout Zlata s Diary Zlata did change her character. She had thought that the
war would not really affect her, or she did not really know much about it. During
the middle of the war, she became very scared but soon got used to all the gunfire
and bombing. At the end, she felt much more happy and relieved since she got
recognized because of her experience and diary.
In The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank did change. At first, she did not think she
would be affected by the Holocaust. Soon, Hitler started moving into where she
lived, and taking away the rights of Jewish people. And at the end of the book, she
did die. She was hiding in her attic for 2 years, trying to get away from the
Analysis Of Lone Ranger And Tonto Fistfight In Heaven
By...
Everyone has their own struggles that they go through in life. Some may be self
inflicted, while others are just the cards that were dealt to them. Sherman Alexie s
story collection The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fistfight in Heaven tells of the cards
that were given to people on a reservation. This compilation of stories was the
framework for Smoke Signals, which won two awards at Sundance Film Festivals.
Alexie has also written other novels and poems in regard to the Native American
culture. The Lone Rangerand Tonto Fistfight in Heaven was an interesting read to
say the least. It tells of the alcoholism, crime, relationships, and traditions of both
the present and past residents of the reservation, as well as their ancestors before
the reservation was in place. Overall this book is a representation of Native
American lives both on and off of the reservation, with interaction with the white
people and the governing forces of the reservation. I was looking forward to seeing
if this collection of stories could change the way I picture reservations. I have
viewed the outskirts of a few and they did not leave a good image. The reservation
in the novel is located in Spokane. From the beginning the collection has attention
grabbing features, telling of a boy named Victor who is witness to his family s
arguments and problems at a young age. None of it was new to him though and his
perspective gives insight to how life on a reservation can be. Throughout the book
The Role Of Cultural Diversity On The Identity Of The...
No matter where people come from they all have a different story or a background
that makes them unique from others. Everyone is raised differently, giving them
characteristics that make them who they are. Culture plays a major role in defining
and shaping the identity of the person that you have become because of the way you
were raised and taught. The cultural diversity that helps define individual
backgrounds in which it sets everyone apart. Every culture has their own morals and
values that they believe in for instance the way how they see educationas and the
things that they believe is acceptable or not. Cultural background is what made you
different from others because of the way how you were raised and the experiences
that you have gone through which have taught you to become who you are now.
I was born in China even though I only lived there for a year it s still a part of me
that had impacted me a lot. I grew up in a family that takes education as a top
priority. Ever since I was little my parents always gives me lesson about the
importance of education and how it will benefit me in the future. Understanding,
that it will help me in the future to obtain a good career. Even though, my parents
were strict, it made me more determined to work harder to accomplish my goals.
When I was young, I tend to get upset due to my parents using a strong tone
explaining the importance of obtaining a good education. Looking back, I realized
that it was for my own good. I remember
My Favorite Dog
As a little kid, I had always feared dogs. Actually, I guess you could say I was
scared to death of them. I never knew why, but the moment I spotted one of those
little, fluffy demons, I was running for my life. Eight years old and caked with dirt
from a Little League game I just finished, I headed over to the car. Sloppy mud
floating around in my shoe, I felt like I was walking around in a marsh. My dad
was driving the silver Toyota Matrix and playing one of his Rolling Stones albums,
full blast, almost stinging my ears. All the windows were open, letting the cool
April air smack my face as I looked out the window. It was refreshing, and my
Saturday could not have gotten any better. My dad turned into our long driveway
and I turned to him in with confusion and asked, Where s mom? He stopped and
thought for and second, only to reply with, I don t know. Probably getting
groceries. We walked down our old, cracked driveway only to hear someone in the
backyard. I listened hard for a second, but the noise wasn t familiar to me. We started
heading towards the gate, listening to the barking and laughing, only to find this
black blur of a thing running around and playing with a tennisball. My sister was
overjoyed, giggling as though she had just inhaled a tank of laughing gas, and was
running around it. My knees began to wobble. The mud in my shoes didn t seem to
bother me anymore. All that bothered me was this thing playing in my backyard. I
slowly twisted

  • 3. The Human Body in Art In my understanding and opinion, the body in art was the starting point for any king of art form. As some people have said, art may have actually started with the body, such as the decoration of the body shown for example in Zulu when they used to paint their faces with natural colours in order for them to create camouflage and catch and kill their prey. In many ways, art is for the humanexperience and the experience of being here, the presence, which is shaped with the representation of the human figure. A body can convey class, age, gender and sexuality. The Bamana Twin Figures (Mali, 20th Century Figure 1) is the representation of the Man and the Woman, a very powerful expression of male and female. Even though both their faces are exactly the same, the parts of the body can reveal the discrimination: genitalia, breasts and even hair. The reason why Egyptian art has not changed and looks very similar since 1479 1425 BCE up until now is very intentional; they are trying to maintain their cultural tradition in which argues for stability. The Egyptian pharaoh Akhenaten (Figure 2) is unusual compared to other Egyptian figures, such as the traditional King, which has broad shoulders and muscular body. Akhenaten is a lot softer and that encouraged people to think and believe that the body was portrayed in such way because of some sort of illness or disease, but Egyptian art was all about the concept and not the reality, it was just the idea of how it used
  • 4. Andrea Del Castagno Analysis During the Renaissance, a religious view of the world made a huge impact on art. The biblical character David became an emerging popular subject among artists. Although David s story is quite simple, artists faced challenges creating a visual representation of the young hero. The two main obstacles were discovering how to portray the body committing the act, and also rendering the spirit of the act itself. Among the artists who tried to recreate this story visually were Andrea del Castagno and Andrea del Verrocchio. Castagno introduced his form of the Davidthrough painting. The piece was entitled David with the Head of Goliath, and was originally used as a parade shield. It differed from common parade shields, which were decorated with simple coat and arms, due to its rare painted scene. The shield was believed to have been carried in civic or religious processions or have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... His David is depicted in a confident pose after the battle with Goliath is already won, while Castagno depicts David in both the moment of fighting the giant and after defeating him. Both art works show Goliath s head under David s feet, but Castagno tells more of the biblical story in his imagery and action. The piece being painted upon a shield also plays a testimonial role. In the Old Testament, David is a young shepherd; he uses the motive that if God protects his sheep than God too will protect him before going into battle with Goliath. By painting this imagery on a shield, one can conclude that God is David s shield (David). Verrocchio s work lacks this deeper analytical meaning. Andrea del Castagno s David with Head of Goliath stands 45 1/2 x 30 1/8 inches wide at the top and 45 1/2 x 16 inches wide at the bottom. The work was made of tempera on leather on wood. Castagno painted the piece in about 1450/1455. The work was part of the Widener Collection, at the National Gallery of Art
  • 5. 1984 Big Brother Essay In the novel 1984, by George Orwell Big Brother does not appear in the reading but still has a significant presence in the novel. Although Big brother never appears physically in the novel he is considered the ruler of Oceania. All over Oceania you can find propaganda posters with his face on it. The poster says, BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU . Big brothers face is also on coins and telescreens. Even though the ideas and views of Big brother and the party have brainwashed most people except a few like Winston until the end of the novel. With that the party requires citizens to conform to the ideas of Big Brother. The citizens are also required to praise and love Big Brother and if you are caught going against him you will be vaporized. The... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Big brother propaganda did work for Winston. Instead of having respect for face of Big Brother like other citizens of Oceania do Winston questioned the existence of him. Eventually at the end of the book Winston is tortured into believing that Big Brother is real. Matter of fact he begins love Big Brother. Big brother is also on the face of telescreens at times. Telescreens keep an eye out for people committing crimes and thought crimes. The telescreen received and transmitted simultaneously. Any sound Winston made, above the level of a very low whisper, would be picked up by it; moreover, so long as he remained within the field of vision which the metal plaque commanded, he could be seen as well as heard . In theory Big Brother is in the telescreens listening and watching everything you do. By having telescreens and propaganda in homes and on the street it directly affects the actions of the citizens. Now people are less likely to commit thought crime or rebell because they are always being watched. Throughout most of the book Winston has hated big brother. This quote is an example of his hatred. His eyes re focused on the page. He discovered that while he sat helplessly musing he had also been writing, as though by automatic action. And it was no longer the same cramped, awkward handwriting as before. His pen had slid voluptuously over the smooth paper, printing in large neat capitals DOWN WITH BIG BROTHER DOWN WITH
  • 6. Rehabilitation Center Choosing a great drug rehabilitation center is one of the most important decisions anyone can ever make in their lives. Proper rehab can mean the difference between long term recovery and give up, so it is extremely important that patients understand what to look for when shopping for a treatment plan. When deciding on a medical rehabilitation center, there are a few things to consider: Always check the center s licensing and accreditation first. A quality repair center should be recognized in the state in which it operates. Be suspicious at centers that do not or who are not easy to provide current license and accreditation information. If they can not meet their state home accreditation criteria, it should not be considered. Always check to see who is driving the drug rehabilitation center. An accredited center should be run by trained doctors, psychiatrists, and professional specialists. Do not decide anything less than a person who is properly trained on how to handle the physical and mental effects of detoxification and drugs. It can be futile and dangerous. Check which types of treatment plans are available. No two cases are the same, and not all rehabilitation programs are created equally. • 7. Pros And Cons Of Cruelty-Free And Vegan Today, much hype is centered on organic, gluten free, and vegan and cruelty free products. For many individuals, their lifestyle entails one or another of these themes. With regards to a cruelty free and vegan, those of whom have taken this path, have selected a lifestyle that they deem suitable and healthy and/or are driven by moral or ethical principles that are geared towards minimizing the affliction or cruelty of animals. There are organizations that encourages consumers to make conscientious choices regarding the personal care products that they purchase. Cruelty free is a broad label that is not clearly defined by law and does not always mean that an animal was not armed or killed during the production of a product. A vegan abstains from the use of animal products and rejects the commodity status of animals. The big question is Can something be called cruelty free and vegan at the same time? What is Cruelty Free? A lot of product labels are not what they seem, and the same can be said of labels that read cruelty free . The term is not defined by a government agency, nor is there a particular set of standards that accompanies its usage, and as such, each company that adopts the label is free to define for themselves what cruelty free signifies. It is easy to see how one can construe that these ambiguities can make these labels meaningless. Cruelty free can pertain to both the finished product, along with any individual ingredients. • 8. The Revolution And Its Effects On The American Revolution It is generally agreed upon that the Revolution was guaranteed even foretold since the idea of settling on it was even suggested no one can give a large group of people the idea to run themselves and still keep control from thousands of miles away. England had it, but lost that control of their child nation in 1766 when they revoked the Stamp Act and gave the colonists the notion that they had the power and authority to independently run the budding country. After being allowed this minute freedom, the colonists were not pleased with Parliament s taxes and attempts of an iron fist hold on the Americas and along with their opposing views on nearly everything, decided that they were no longer pleased with being considered British. Salutary neglect also contributed to the colonists inflated sense of pride aptly named because at this time England neglected the colonies, giving them room for individual theories, politics, beliefs, and the abilities to run their own lives for a while. The freedom was too much for them to go back to how things were before when England decided to tighten their grip. At this time, the colonists started a war to free themselves. Parliamentary taxation was the catalyst to the slew of problems the Americans were having with their over seas overlords. The preliminary Parliament imposed tax that threatened the colonies was the Molasses Act, which was caused by profit loss for the British under the Navigation Acts, and their need to recoup

  • 10. Molson s Beer Commercial Consumption of beer is a deep rooted ritual for Canadians. It is used as a social device to interact with others and appreciate life with close family members and friends. In this article the author is trying to highlight the underlying themes such as the studying of symbols, signs and understating their interpretations behind the great Molson s beercommercial of 2000 I AM CANADIAN! The writer is analyzing the increase in Molson s market share caused by the ad campaign. Seiler has used historical, sociological and phenomenological approach in order to understand the various themes. This advert uses easily identifiable symbols of Canada, such as the flag, the national animal (Beaver) and the National Hockey League game, to link the audience in understanding what it takes be Canadian! As mentioned in the article, imported beer was preferred over the domestic one. Molson, in its attempt to increase its market share and target the majority of the population, joined hands with the American Coors beer company. It makes me wonder what really is the difference between Canada and America now? Does the binary actually exist in the real world or was it just an attempt by Molson Company to meet their capitalist means? The message of their commercial today does not reflect their company s value system. It does not portray the same patriotism it did back in
  • 11. The Humanistic Theory And The Kubler-Ross Five Stage Grief... This essay looks to explain how both the Humanistic theory and the Kubler ross five stage grief model can be applied to the loss of a limb. It will also be looking at how these theories can help the healthcare team in their care provision. The loss of a limb is a great loss to a person and would be difficult for anyone to comprehend initially and some never can. It affects all areas of a person s life from the obvious physical aspect to mentally/emotionally. Apart from losing a limb they must comprehend the reason why they had a limb amputated, for example through disease or trauma (Healio,2002). The humanistic theory, particularly the work of Carl Rogers and Abraham Maslow, has been a great breakthrough within psychology, especially when looking at the emotions, thoughts and behaviour of an amputee. Unlike other psychological theories the humanistic theory aims to look at a person s feelings and to see life as they see it rather than from the perspective of an observer(Mcleod,2015). According to Roger s humanistic theory, every person has the built in drive and ability to be the best that they can be. This means to self actualise. To achieve self actualisation a person needs a high self concept which the theory explains has three main components. These are self image, self esteem and ideal self (McLeod, 2014). The loss of a limb affects a person s self concept. The loss of a limb may make a person feel no longer attractive and deserving of any forms of attention. As their

It took a staggering 11 years for the first instance of blooming to occur in this plant in 1889 at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. The snail like pace of this flowers maturity is demonstrated by the fact that only 21 flowerings were recorded across the world until 1989. Due to this, it is projected that the temperature will rise from 2 to 11.5В°F in the next hundred years (US EPA, 2014). The drivers, which are the principal causes making this occur, are very controversial. It is debated whether a change in temperature is due to the work of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the summer, the amount of sunshine received in the Northern Hemisphere can control the advance and retreat of ice sheets because of changes in Earth s orbit. This has been the cause of ice ages in the past, when Earth has experienced long periods of cold temperatures (NRC, 2010). The second main driver of global temperature change is reflectivity. Changes in reflectivity affect how much energy enter Earth s system. When the sunlight reaches Earth, it can be reflected or absorbed, and that depends on the Earth s surface and atmosphere; light colors reflect the most sunlight, while dark colors absorb more sunlight. Albedo, the amount of solar radiation reflected from an object or surface, indicates the amount of sunlight reflected as a percentage. Earth has an albedo of about 30%, which means that 70% of the sunlight is absorbed (NRC, 2010). This is important because the sunlight absorbed warms the land, water and atmosphere. In the past, this can be seen in the melting of sea ice or increases in cloud cover. Aerosols are particles in the atmosphere that affect reflectivity, which affect the amount of energy that enters Earth, ultimately affecting global temperature change. An example of this can be seen in volcanic eruptions. Volcanic particles that reach the upper atmosphere are able to reflect enough sunlight back to space, which can cool the surface of Earth by a few tenths of a degree for a few years (Hegerl, 2007). The third
  • 15. distribution in banking DISTRIBUTION IN BANKING BUSINESS Distribution in financial services marketing is concerned with how the service is delivered to the customer, making sure that it is available in a place, at a time and in a format that is appropriate and convenient for the customer. In a growing number of countries, the expansion of the financial services sector has been accompanied by a significant blurring of lines between different institutional types with, for instance, retail banks offering insurance products (bancassuarance), insurance companies offering bank accounts and supermarkets launching their own credit cards. As a consequence, individual organizations can no longer claim a distinctive market position based on the products they offer. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For example: money transfer agents, commission payment agents... Rationale for banking agents Banking agents help financial institutions to divert existing customers from crowded branches providing a complementary , often more convenient channel. Other financial institutions, especially in developing markets, use agents to reach an additional client segment or geography. Reaching poor clients in rural areas is often prohibitively expensive for financial institutions since transaction numbers and volumes do not cover the cost of a branch. In such environments banking agents that piggy back on existing retail infrastructure and lower set up and running cost can play a vital role in offering many low income people their first time access to a range of financial services. Also, low income clients often feel more comfortable banking at their local store than walking into a marble branch. Banking agents are the backbone of mobile banking, i.e., performing transactions over a mobile device, most often a mobile phone. To enable clients to convert cash into electronic money and vice versa which can send be sent over their mobile phone, clients will have to visit a branch, automated teller machine (ATM), or banking agent. Connecting Frame Of Electrical Equipment INTRODUCTION Grounding or earthing explain the concept of connecting frame of electrical equipment (non current carrying part) or some electrical part of the system (e.g. neutral point in a star of the system, one conductor of the secondary of a transformer) with the respect to the earth. In electrical engineering, ground or earth is the reference point in an electric circuit from which voltage is measured, a common path for electric current, or direct physical connection to the earth. Bear in mind that this connection to earth may be through a conductor or some other circuit element which may be; resistors, circuit breakers depending upon the situation. In electricity supply system, an earthing (grounding) system defines the electrical potential of the conductors relative to that of the earth s conductive surface. The choice of earthing system has implications for the safety and electromagnetic compatibility of the power supply. Electrical circuit may be connected to ground (earth) for several reasons: In main powered equipment, exposed metal part are connected to ground to prevent user contact with dangerous voltage if electrical insulation fails. Connection to ground limits the build up static electricity when handling flammable product or electrostatic sensitive device. In Divergent the main character Beatrice, whose name means voyageur, goes on a journey that changes not only her name, but her social standing, physical and psychological well being as well. The story begins with Beatrice being a member of the Abnegation faction. The Abnegation faction values selflessness above all other virtues, and Beatrice has been raised to put others before herself. Through sound, recognition, and vision, animals have inherited these traits for generations. One significant factor pertaining to who we are and how we perceive the world around us are influenced by the genes inherited in our lineage. One particular trait that is important in our lives is color visionand color blindness, particularly cone dysfunction syndrome. Cone dysfunction syndrome is a heterogeneous group of inherited disorders resulting from a mutation of photopigment genes (Simunovic 1998). The red green opsins are the most susceptible for mutation due to the localization of each protein, producing color blindness. The localization of the red and green opsins is near each other and contains ninety eight percent identical in their DNA sequences (Sanders et al 2012). Mutations in these genes are caused by an error during crossover in prophase I of female meiosis. It occurs in female meiosis rather than male meiosis due to the fact that opsin genes are produced by the X linked chromosome which females possess. This states that mothers are the sole carriers of color blindness and it is rare for a female to express color blindness. Dalton s eyes contributed to the understanding of color vision 150 years after his death. His interests on color blindness have paved the way to understand color deficiency in our society. Achromatopsia In Color Vision and Genetics in a Case of Cone Dysfunction Syndrome, Crognale and Neitz ask the question: How drastic are genetic variability s influential to our perception of color vision? To further answer this question, both researchers analyzed cone dysfunction syndrome and how it varies from normal color vision by having a patient in the study with an abnormal case of color vision ranging between achromatopsia to mild green deficiencies. Achromatopsia is the condition in which people perceive the world only of shades of grey while having normal cones in the retina (Snowden 2006).

This conclusion suggests that economic development does not necessarily have a correlation with human development. Until recently, a common view of development referred to rising income levels and overall economic growth of a country. However, in recent years a shift towards focusing upon humanity issues and circumstances rather than monetary concerns reflects the new definition of a nation s development, which can be measured by the Human Development Indicator (HDI) produced by the United Nation Development Programme in 1990. Discussions on the goals of development now involve emphasizing the reduction of poverty, rather than raising the average levels of income per capita (Anand Ravallion, 1993, p. 133).

Apple is not completely in the wrong though; the users should have been more protective of their data and not had such personal pictures. This beef up in security is only the first step in what should be done. There should be multiple steps and warnings to protect accounts especially when accounts have potentially personal information on them. They are so excited for the first day of class that they have to get all new school supplies. They wake up extra early and are ready to learn on that first day. If school was all year round, I believe students would never look forward to school and would affect their learning. Therefore, in my opinion, I do not believe school should be year round. Why Year Round School Is More Harm Than Good Year round schooling is a topic that is emerging widely throughout the United States in this day and time. It is said that it is suppose to better the school systems and help students with their schoolwork. However, I think year round schooling could do more harm than good to students, families, as well as teachers. A few ways that it could be more harm than good are that the school would have to spend more money to keep the school running, not enough vacation time, and conflicts with the teachers and administrators. With year round school, the budget will go up with the cost to provide food, utilities, and other things that are provided for the students. In order for the school to stay up and

In the most basic concept of burden proof, the defense has to prove innocence and the prosecution has to prove the guilt. The standard of proof in a criminal trial gives the prosecutor a much greater burden than the plaintiff in a civil trial. The defendant must be found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, which means the evidence must be so compelling that there is no possible reasonable doubt that the defendant committed the crime. The defense has the burden of proof when they are using defenses like self defense, battered woman syndrome and insanity. With the insanity defense, the defense has to prove that the individual committing the crime was not in the right state of mind when they did so. So, along with the prosecution having to prove guilt, they also have to disprove the defenses theory of insanity. In the case of the battered woman syndrome, the defense would have to prove that the abuse had been occurring for a long time and that she was in imminent danger. The prosecution would then have to disprove that the wife was in imminent danger of her husband. The burden of proof can shift back and forth throughout a trial. For instance, suppose the prosecution shows that, when searching the defendant, the police found a ring that reflects as an item that was stolen in a house invasion. In defense of a burglary charge, the defendant or defense could create a plausible explanation for possessing the ring legally. They could do this by producing a receipt or testimony from a family member that the watch they had found in the defendants possession was in fact a gift. This would shift the burden back to the prosecution to disprove the gift theory. The prosecution could do so by having surveillance footage of the defendant putting the ring in his pocket during the crime. They could also have

The Trojan War mainly started when the Greeks brought a wooden horse over to Troy as a sign of peace. However, it was used to take over Troy since there were many armed men in the horse. A downfall the Trojans had that led up to this point in time was that they were foolish, Four times did the Horse halt as they dragged it, before it passed through the gate, and each time their might have been heard a great clashing of arms within (Church 9). In the Horse, there were sounds being made but the Trojans did not pay attention to these signs and Troy suffered as a result. Overall, the Trojan Warwas created due to many gods fighting over Helen and because of this Troy was taken over by Greece and Aeneas and his crew had to relocate and find a new safe place to live with the help of Venus and Apollo by their side. To begin with, there were a few causes that led up to Greece taking over. The main cause that brought the Greeks to take over was the influence of the gods. And as for Helen, why are you angry with her? It is not she, it is not Paris, that has brought this great city of Troy to ruin; it is the anger of the gods (Church 15). The Replication Of Cell The Cell Cycle Essay Question 1 a.According to McKinley, O Loughlin and Bidle (2015), the replication of cells in the cell cycle included two general phases which are Interphase and Mitotic phase. As for the Interphase, the stage of preparation of cell division, it is normally divided into three phases which are G1, S and G2 phases and this process take approximately 23 hours. Firstly, G1 phase is the stage that the cell occurs growth and preparation for the S phase which is DNA replication. After that, DNA molecule unwind and the hydrogen bonds that are holding between the DNA bases are broken, therefore, the DNA break into two DNA strands and the free deoxyribonucleotides attach to the expose site following the rule of code by the hydrogen bond and phosphodiester bond and assembled a new DNA strand, therefore, the cell have two new DNA strand and its return to coiled and double helix structure. The cell grows and prepares further for the division of DNA. Turning to Mitotic, chromosomes are formed by the coiling of chromatin and the nucleolus breaks down. Then, the centrioles begin to form the spindle fibres and move into opposite cell poles, the the envelope of the nuclear breaks down and this stage is called Prophase. As for Metaphase, the spindle fibres attach to the chromosomes, which line up along the centre of the cell. In Anaphase stage, the sister chromatids being pulled apart by spindle fibres and move toward into the opposite end of the cell and each chromatid is a chromosome with

When a healthy naked newborn is placed in skin to skin contact at birth, it uses its senses to set a course and eventually will find and attach itself to the breast. Having skin to skin contact also helps the infant receive colostrums from its mother leading to a good start of hormone balance, attachment, and local immune protection and feeding. Skin to skin contact has a big benefit for breastfeeding. For example, infants who receive contact with their mothers right after birth show early establishment of effective breastfeeding and longer duration of breastfeeding. A Cochrane review of eight studies showed that mothers who had skin to skin contact were twice as likely to still be breastfeeding at one to three months as those who did not have contact. The amount of contact between the mother and their baby during the first two hours can influence the duration of breastfeeding. The study also showed that infants were suckling at the breast at fifty minutes after birth. A newborns skin and hands has the same scent as the mother s breast, which makes it easier for the infant to find the breast. So it is recommended not to wash the mother s breast or the infant s hands prior to the first feeding because it can interfere with the breastfeeding. Another study conducted in a hospital found that mothers who breastfeed their infants kept their babies with them for an average of a hundred minutes longer each day than mothers who did not breast feed in the first hour, this lead to
