Public Speaking Short Story
Public Speaking by Gustav W
It was a cold and foggy morning, less than 3 degrees, but in the town of Sylvester this was
considered warm, Sylvester was a town unlike others because it was home to the greatest
adventurers of all time: Billy the Bold, Jumbo the Gibberish, Collin the cold butt and miss and Mr
Appleby. And this is where our story begins. Jeff was out picking apples with his dog Dingelberry.
After Jeff returned he decided he would become Sylvester s next great explorer he packed his
things and set sail in his boat. After 20 minutes Jeff found out that he was a really bad sailor and
had to turn back to land back at home Jeff thought of a solution where he would not have to sail or
swim. Jeff stayed up all night to think of something and then in the morning Jeff had designed and
made the perfect flying machine.
Outside Jeff tried his hardest to heave the plane outside and just then his best friend walked by
and with the added help of his friend they finally got onto the hill with a ramp at the bottom so the
plane could take off. Jeff rolled down the hill and took off he soared through the sky but after a
while Jeff realised that the fuel canister was extremely low so he had to turn back.
Back at home Jeff had to think of a way to switch the fuel while In the air and he kept coming to
the same conclusion someone or something would have to manually climb on to the wing and pour
the fuel into the tank while the plane is still flying in mid air over the treacherous

Carpet Advantages And Disadvantages
There is no doubt the carpet inhibit dust and a myriad of indoor allergens like house dust mites,
mould, and fungi. That s why carpet is not popular among homes with children as parents are
afraid their children will breathe in dirty air particles and lead to respiratory illness like asthma.
Although the carpet can be a potential health hazard, it doesn t mean you cannot have in your
office or home at all. It can after all beautify the interior design with its colourful design and texture.
Clean carpet lessen allergies
A regularly cleaned and maintained carpet or rug not only looks more presentable, smells better,
most importantly, a clean carpet is considered healthier than poorly cared carpet. This is because a
well maintained carpet contains less dust, less ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Minimal application of fluid and chemical in the carpet would not lead to excessive exposure to
chemical residue after cleaning and having bad smell due to insufficient drying after a wet cleaning
treatment.
For those who prefer using environmental friendly products, you would be pleased to know that
most dry carpet cleaning technologies use biodegradable compound as the main cleaning product.
However, dry carpet cleaning has often been misunderstood as a cleaning method suitable only for
light soiling carpet condition or for periodic maintenance purpose as dry cleaning system was
known to clean only the carpet surface and not deep carpet cleaning.
Over recent years, with further developments and research, dry carpet cleaning systems has now
come with a range of stain removal products that will be applied on heavily soiled carpet or
stubborn stains during pre cleaning treatment. These stain removal products effectively break down
different types of stains like food, beverage, grease, glue, etc, before the application of dry
compound or encapsulating crystals on the carpet.

Trust In Hamlet
Trust is an essential department of every relationship. A healthy relationship needs trust and
dependence on one another. Without trust, doubt and suspicions befall and tension arises between
two people. In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, trust is crucial and very breakable. The
main character, Hamlet, is faced in a conflicting situation in which he begins to question the
motives of the people closest to him, after his father s death. He begins to doubt and suspect people
close to him like, his lover, Ophelia, and his university friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern.
Despite his keen trustissues, he forms a solid and unbreakable trust with his close friend, Horatio in
which he is the only person Hamlet has ever let through his walls.... Show more content on

They have shown no signs of care or worry for Hamlet after his father s death, instead, they turn
their backs on him by following the commands of the King against him for their own benefit.
Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are both commissioned by the King to spy on Hamlet and they
easily comply with him because they care about Hamlet no more than they care about
themselves, But we both obey, and here give up ourselves to lay our service freely at your feet,
to be commanded. (2.2.31 34). After his father s death, he experiences an emotional and mental
crisis on whether or not he should trust the people around him. Shakespeare puts Hamlet and his
relationship with his university friends in this situation as to relay a message that trust is a
breakable bond, and that no matter how close Hamlet is to someone, he has to build his walls
around himself so that he won t be vulnerable to their inevitable attack. He shows that people will
do anything, even as far as to betray their friends for their own self interest, because people are
selfish that

Job Analysis Paper
The reason for job analysis is to study and evaluate the things that a job is supposed to involve.
This is describing exactly what skills are needed to perform the job, and what the exact
qualifications are to fill the position. Job analysis is a method needed when the employee need
to know the precise function. An example would be that an employee s duties should be clearly
stated. So, a jobs analyst is to observe the employee at his or her current duties. This is also
helpful in deciding what the requirements are to perform this job more effectively. As well jobs

In 1996 across the state of Texasthe Texas Evaluation Model for Professional School Counselors
(TEMPSCO) was implemented. This serves as a form of regular analysis of an all school

documented on The School Guidance and Counseling Job Evaluation Form. Eight Domains of Job
Performance
There are a multitude of sub categories to the eight domains that are observed in the job analysis.
This includes certain standards of personal behavior and job performance of the person in this
position. All of the standards are provided by the Texas EducationCode, Title 2, Public Education,
Subtitle F. Curriculum, Programs, and Services: Service Programs and Extracurricular Activities;
Subchapter A; School Counselors and Counseling Programs (TEA, 2011). This requires practicing
counselors to assess, arrange and administer developmental programs (including resources in a
program and paraprofessionals) designed for other teachers, parents as well as students.
Developmental programs need to concentrate on developing decision making, interpersonal
effectiveness, self confidence, goal setting, cross cultural effectiveness, planning, communication,
responsible behavior, and motivation to achieve (TEA, 2011). Also a school counseloris directed to

Caliban in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay
The Tempest, considered by many to be Shakespeare s farewell to the theatre, has of all his plays
the most remarkable interpretive richness. The exceptional flexibility of Shakespeare s stage is
given particular prominence in The Tempest due to its originality and analytic potential, in
particular in the presentation of one of his most renowned and disputed characters, Caliban.
Superficially portrayed in the play as a most detestable monster, Caliban does not evoke much
sympathy. However, on further examination Caliban presents himself as an extremely complex
character and soon his apparent monstrosity is not so obviously transparent. The diverse range of
presentations of him on stage exemplifies Caliban s multifarious character.... Show more content on

In the introduction to Critical Essays on Shakespeare s The Tempest, Editor Alden T. Vaughan
describes how the commonly accepted view of Prospero s character was that of a wise and
rational ruler [who] could govern the forces of disorder that undermine the family and the state .
Indeed, before the beginning of the nineteenth century Prospero was presented as thus, while
Caliban as an abominable, inhuman beast. As the play drew a greater audience worldwide
however, that view began to change and post colonial interpretations began to present themselves
in which Caliban was cast in a more empathic light. These critics noted how easily the figure of
Caliban converges with the image of the cannibal, the mythical savage whom many European
travellers claimed to have encountered. The name Caliban even seems to be a pointed anagram of
cannibal . Since that time, views have changed on the savagery of those natives and with it, on the
savagery of Caliban.
In the 1978 Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Tempest, David Suchet played a
humanized, though exploited, third world Caliban, possibly a representative African or West
Indian. This interpretation draws on many views that Caliban represents a subjugated native and
that the relationship between Prospero and Caliban is, in fact, a relationship between the
oppressor, and the oppressed. Indeed, the island was Caliban s before Prospero and Miranda arrived
where he was then reduced to being a slave.

The Roller Coaster Of Roller Coasters
Since humans were created, we have always searched for some kind of thrill and excitement.
Once man was tired of playing with something as dangerous as fire, he decided to move on to
more dangerous things, thus, the roller coaster was born. From sliding down rocky mountains, to
the huge steel coasters we have today. Roller coasters have evolved, and will continue to evolve
alongside humans. The way roller coasters are made, the safety of the roller coasters and the
popularity of them are just a few things that make up the history of these magnificent gifts to man.
Coaster history has its ups, downs and loop di loops, all that bring us to where we are today.
Roller coasters originally were very different from the ones in amusement parks ... Show more

The ride was constructed by LaMarcus A. Thompson and was the first Gravity Switchback Railway.
This particular coaster attracted many people and brought tons of business to Coney Island.
(Benson 2012. AceOnline.org). From here the roller coaster business only went up. By the 1920 s,
roller coasters were extremely popular. Nearly 2,000 coasters were built! Sadly, there are not
many, if any of these coasters still standing. According to the most recent census there are close to
750 coasters in the United States alone! There are around 4,500 total in the whole world (Johnson
2016.rcdb.com). The growth of roller coasters continue to expand as more resources become
available and inventors become more creative.
Back in the 1990s, roller coasters were primarily made out of wood with small bits of steel and
metals. Wood was much cheaper and easier to use.(Schaefer 2004 Roller Coasters). This put a
limit on how coasters could be designed so the majority of them around the united states were
extremely similar. The safety of rider s was not much of a concern back in those days. There were
many deaths back in the 1900 s simply because most of the coasters had faulty designs, safety, or
were improperly built. (McGill 2001. Ultimaterollercoasters.com), The amount of deaths that were
caused because of the negligence is exactly why roller coasters had to change to fit the times and
safety resources.
Today, the safety

The Testament Of Isaiah And Isaiah
Throughout the Old Testament God carried out his plan to bring His people back to Him. Often
the people of Israel would fall away from their relationship with God by worshipping false Idols
such as Baal or by disobeying His commands in general. One of the main ways God got his
message of redemption to His people was via prophets, spiritually gifted individuals that God
lifted up to communicate His will to the people of Israel. The prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah often
were used to call Israel out on their wickedness, and to warn then of God s coming judgement
that would teach them a lesson. It is clear from what the prophets wrote, that God very much
intended to wipe the sins of the nation s away, one way or another. This is a message that still
very much applies today, Isaiah and Jeremiah were meant to steer God s people back to Him and
their messages with Christians today are supposed to do the same. Judah and Israel in their time
were constantly full of sins and needing to be cleansed. In the beginning of Isaiah, he opens by
stating that they were a sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children
who are corrupters! They have forsaken the lord. (Isaiah 1:4, New King James Version). The sins
of Judah and Israel were many and that is why God sent the prophets with the message they gave. In
attempt to warn the people that disobeying God s commandments would lead to harsh punishment.
It is apparent that God did respond to the sins harshly. In

Galactic Empire Research Paper
The Galactic Empire is the largest military force in the galaxy, with their only opposition being the
Rebel Alliance. The AT AT Walker is arguably the most powerful terrestrial vehicle at the disposal
of the Galactic Empire. The Empire employs the AT AT onto the battlefield as both a troop
transport and an assault craft. The AT AT has been deployed in multiple battlefield
environments,
including the assault on Hoth and defense of the forest moon of Endor, with deadly effect. The AT
AT is used when the Empire needs to assault an enemy position, or when a large amount of
enemies need taken out. The AT AT is also utilized as a physiological deterrent.

One such weakness is its inability to attack anything behind its main body. The walker would
have to turn completely around to engage a target behind it thus exposing itself to the direction
it was previously facing. One of the most commonly exploited weaknesses of the AT AT is it
high center of gravity, making it top heavy. One example of the rebels taking advantage of this
weakness is when the Empire assaulted Hoth. Rebel snow speeders attached tow lines toe the
walker s legs and wrapped the line around it until the walker got snagged and toppled over. The
walker also has a hard time attacking more than one target at a time. Another weakness is the
flexible tunnel that runs between the cargo and troop areas of the craft and the head. One direct
blast to this tunnel detonated the entire AT AT. The platting on the underbelly of the walker is
slightly weaker and easier to damage. The AT AT also has no way to protect against troops
beneath its main body, where the lightly armored hatch can be easily cut free and sabotaged.
One other big weakness in the design of the AT AT is the fact that it is very slow compared to the
smaller AT ST. Also the terrain it is in can limit it much farther, with it moving at its fastest on flat
smooth ground and its slowest on steep rocky inclines, and heavily forested areas like the moon of
Endor where its usage was far less than the

At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West stormed the stage, and vehemently declared
that Beyonce s music video was better than winner Taylor Swifts. The two nominated videos for
best music video by a female performer were: Taylor Swifts You Belong With Me , and Beyonce s
Single Ladies.
While the videos were nominated for the same award, they are significantly different. Mainly due
to the fact that the genre s of the two artists are varied. Taylor Swift being a country singer, and
Beyonce a pop singer. Beyonce s video contributes to the pop genre consisting of urban
contemporary, and dance style. Most commonly using a repeated chorus, and a hook: a rhythmic
phrase making the song catchy, and appealing to the audience. Equally, Taylor Swifts video
contributes greatly to the country genre, and the love story, the song and video are trying to capture.
The quality of the two videos is remarkable, with both showing the performance of the artists to

Beyonce s video shows a level of creativity suited to target audience; an adolescence and adult
audience, as the dance moves, and outfits can be provocative at times. Nonetheless, the
memorable dance moves and lyrics only add to the quality of the song. Conversely, Taylor Swifts
level of creativity is more suited to its wide range of viewers, due to the romantic story it shows.
Using more reserved acting and outfits, and a lighter ambiance with lanterns and flowers, the video
is able to portray a fairytale type of setting.

My field experience has been wonderful so far for the first semester. I have gained valuable
information for the last couple on months interning at my agency. For this self evaluation I will be
describing the1 3 and 6 9 competencies I set up at the beginning of the semester and see if I have
achieved these skills. I will also address the growth and challenges I have come upon throughout
this semester. For competency one on processional and ethical practice I wanted to demonstrate
having a professional behavior, communication, boundaries, and writing skills throughout the
semester. I also wanted to provide integrity, competence, core values, services, dignity, and worth
in the agency and my clients. In addition being aware of the mandating reporting, parental consent,
and legal consent in the school setting. I feel the growth in this competency I have gained a lot by
the agency in proving lots of training, group supervision, and individual supervision has not only
broaden my skills but have gained valuable knowledge of what to do in certain situations. For some
of the challenges I encounter at the beginning was learningabout mandating reporting and how
much work it goes into calling, summiting the paperwork all this is a curial aspect when doing a
CWS report. For example, when doing my first mandated report my supervisor stayed and walk
me through each step to make sure I did it correctly which was wonderful and learned the right
way to do a mandated report.

Information technology is becoming an increasingly important consideration in our Nation s
security. There is so much information can be easily accessible, yet terrifyingly detrimental to an

National government started to realize this early on and have since enacted several laws in order
to help protect certain groups. This paper will cover three of these laws, their scope and rationale

HIPAA The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Actof 1996 (HIPAA), was initially
established as a way to standardize the electronic dissemination of health information across the
field of health care. The Act was initially introduced as the Kennedy Kassebaum Bill and had two
primary objectives: Portability and Accountability. The portability portion was intended to ensure
individuals would be able to maintain insurance between jobs. This portion was implemented very

Research articles can be quite complex and adding patents to the mix seems to make the
comprehensive level even more challenging. In this paper lies three parts commonly seen within a

Acoustic Environment Within Fice
Task 1A: Acoustic environment within the office: the office should be a quite tranquil place to
allow concentration levels to excel on the workers behalf. This can be created by using things
like sound proof glass and insulation and having heavy duty soundproof doors. However I do
not believe these actions will be needed as the office block is located in quite a rural and quiet
area in itself. However there will be some steps taken to ensure the tranquillity of the offices such
as the insulation being sound proof. Another factor would be that the walls must be thick to allow
little sound in the office from the surrounding area to allow more concentration. Essentially 35
decibels of sound would be an optimum noise level this is like the same level of acoustics in a
library. Things like the printer and the other machines can effect noise levels but keeping them in a
separate room can prevent them from becoming a distraction. Also the customers of the shop below
could create noise but good insulation will prevent this to a certain degree.
Thermal environment within the office: the thermal factors of the office block should be a constant
comfortable heat this allows the workers to concentrate a lot better and results in a better work
environment. This can be accomplished by underground heating using heated pipes under a
carpeted office block. Also insulation will be needed to a high degree which will allow the room to
remain at the constant temperature desired I mentioned

Herodotus Use Of Religious Ideologies In Ancient Cultures
According to multiple scriptures, religious ideologies were an essential component of the ancient
civilizations. Religion managed to touch every aspect of ancient life, including having a correlation
with warfare. A letter recounting the events of Sargon s eight campaign describes the Neo Assyrian
concept of using religious ideologies as a motivation for conflict. Furthermore, Herodotus account
of the Greco Persian wars depicts the use of religionin determining the time, the means, and the
outcome of warfare. In both cases, religious ideology had a unique role in generating conflict
through inscriptions, omens, dreams, festivals, prayers, and prophecies. When the Assyrian Empire
was at its height, Sargon conducted multiple campaigns to control and expand his empire. His

The Impact Of The Berlin Wall
The Berlin Wall divided Germany into the East and West because of opposing ideas of the future
for Germany. Germany was weak and pliable after barely surviving Nazi Germany, so the
vulnerable country could have been formed into anything and the major powers knew this. The
Soviet Union wanted a communist Germanyand the major democracies America, Britain, and
France wanted a democratic Germany. Because of these opposing ideas, Germany was split into the
East and West, each living an entirely different life depending on the country of influence. When
the Berlin Wallfell, though, neither side was as it was before; the country had changed in almost
every way. This essay analyzes how the Berlin Wall changed Germany, focusing on Berlin, in many
different aspects and lenses. The essay will examine how the people, the economy, the government,
religion, and literature were affected by this great divide. This essay will also explain how America
influenced German culture through integrating Western culture during the Wall in the West and
after the Wall in both sides. To what extent was Germany, especially Berlin, similar and different
politically, economically, and culturally from how it was before the Berlin Wall was built to when
it was torn down?

Adolf Hitler s book Mein Kampf or also known as My Struggle that was published sometime
between 1925 and 1927 clearly describes his political viewpoints, moreso on race . His story
supposedly is directed on his development of his ideas and the Natzi movement with a mixture of
half truths, big lies, scurrilous attacks, and idealistic emotional appeals. Specifically, Hitler
highlights the importance of race and explains the struggles occurring in Western Europe at the
time. Hitler completely rejects the idea of Marxism and Communism, and opposes the belief that
the Bourgeoisie are oppressors , as Marx had claimed. Alternatively, Hitler emphasizes on the

culture and hence the real founders of all that we sum up under the word humanity (Hitler 605).
According to himself, the top is a Germanic man with light skin, blonde hair, and blue eyes,
known as Aryan. He is stated as the founder of all higher humanity and represents the prototype
of all that we understand by the word man . Hitler disapproved of Marxism because it disregards
the idea of nationalism and the importance of race. Through Hitler s eye, Marxism basically

addition, he felt as though Marxism would give the Jews power in order to enslave and destroy
people that are not Jewish. Jews contaminated aspects of culture such as art, literature, and theater

Asthma is a respiratory condition marked by spasms in the bronchi of the lungs causing difficulty in
breathing. It can result from an allergic reaction or other forms of hypersensitivity. It is dyspepsia
associated with spasms of the bronchi muscles. The characteristic feature is difficult, prolonged
expiration. It is a chronic inflammatory condition of the airways that causes wheezing, coughing,
tightness in the chest and shortness of breath. Asthmahas no set patterns and can me severe or mild.

It is an infection in one or both lungs by fungii, bacteria. It happens when the air sacs become
filled with pus and may become solid. The alveoli fill up with fluid or pus which then in return
makes it difficult to breathe. It can make you cough, run a fever, and have a hard time breathing.
It can be treated at home and may take up to 3 weeks. But in children and older adults its more
difficult and also those with other diseases may need to go to the hospital. Pneumonia usually starts
when you breathe germs into your lungs, and most likely can get this after the cold or the flu.
Croup Is a type of respiratory infection that is caused by a virus. This type of virus usually leads
to the swelling of the trachea which interferes with normal breathing and thus produces classic
symptoms of a barking cough, hoarse voice. The viral infection that causes croup leads to swelling
of the larynx, trachea, and large bronchi due to infiltration of white blood cells. Swelling produces
airway obstruction which, when significant, leads to dramatically increased work of breathing and
the characteristic turbulent, noisy airflow known as stridor. There is laryngeal spasm causing
spasmodic dyspnoea, a harsh cough and stridor (harsh, shrill sounds produced during

Nicolas Maduro s Protest In Venezuela
For months, protesters have voiced their frustrations with President Nicolas Maduro by rioting on
the streets. The protesters are angry because Maduro did not win a fair election and is becoming a
dictator. It was obvious that Maduro would not win an election, so the Venezuelan Supreme Court,
filled with government loyalists, took legislative power away from the National Assembly.
Therefore, all three branches of the government were ruled by the United Socialist Party and the
opposition has no power. So, Nicolas Maduro was granted power amongst the people s rage. Even
Donald Trump, the president of the United States, has spoken out against Maduro. He stated that
Maduro is a not a president, but a dictator. He also emphasizes that Maduro will lose if there is an
election. Additionally, money problems have fueled the protestors irritation. Venezuela
is losing
money by year and had only about 10.5 billion dollars at the beginning of 2016. According to a

people demanded for a new president and for food. The police were ordered by the government
to release gas into the air and shoot. The air was filled with smoke as people were running
around crazy, screaming, and attacking police officers. Recently in May, over 200,000 people
marched in protest to Maduro. It was a deadly scene full of violence. The gas tank of a police
motorbike exploded leading flames erupting. Protesters threw rocks at the police and the police
responded with tear gas. Thousands of people were injured and over 47 people died. One woman

Film comparison between Pirates of the Caribbean and Caption Blood
Pirate films goes back as far as the beginning of movie making, as far as the silent film era. These
types of films where heavily influenced by Piracy in the late 17th century, a period where all
type of goods and other items were imported and exported by way of ships. Determination plays
a major role in many peoples lives, whether they be fictional characters or historical figures. As
displayed in the films Captain Blood and Pirates of the Caribbean, determination acted as a great
sense of motivation for two main characters. In Michael Curtiz and Gore Verbinski s films, both
directors portrayed Peter Blood and Will Turner as men who were driven by love to go above and
beyond in order to fulfill their wish of being with their soul mates.

An individual would expect a pirate film to contain plenty of adventure, similar to Pirates of the
Caribbean the Curse of the Black Pearl. An audience could clearly see an exciting and thrilling
journey unfold at the beginning of the film. The main character Jack Sparrow, a witty and clever
pirate embarks on a journey to rescue the governor s daughter and recapture the magnificent ship
once belonged to him, the Black Pearl. To add extra interest to this movie the director included a
romance between Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann. Throughout the film these two characters
protected one another and had each other backs when there was danger. An example of this is
when Will is trapped in the boat and the water is filling up; Elizabeth attempts to save him but is

The Transatlantic Slave Trade And The United States
My ancestors, along with many other African Americans living in society today are decedents of
African slaves. I can remember as far back as age 5 listening to the elders in my family talk about
slavery. The word slavery originated when millions of African men and women were forcible taken
from their families and the familiar surroundings of their African villages. Brought here to an
unfamiliar environment and forced to work on plantations in different parts of the United States,
usually from sun up to sun down. the transatlantic slave trade formally began in 1518, when King
Charles I of Spain sanctioned the direct importation of Africans to his colonies in the America. The

slaves. In reality, treatment of slaves ranged from mild to cruel and sadistic. Under slavery, slave
owners, controlled, and sold entire families of slaves. Slave owners might decide to sell families or
family members for profit, as punishment, or to pay debts. Slave owners also gave slaves away

ready to work and leave home once they were 12 14 years old. Darker skinned slaves worked in
the fields, while lighter skinned slaves worked as house servants and had better clothing, food, and

Slaves were forbidding from reading or writing so they adopted a strong oral tradition of expression

Student Justifications for Abusing Adderall
What Are U of M Students Perceptions of Adderall?
INTRODUCTION
With the increased pressure to succeed and the chaotic collegiate lifestyle taking a toll on students,
Adderall has evolved into the go to drug. The Class II prescription amphetamine is intended to
solely treat individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. The
stimulant works to enhance concentration by stimulating the production of dopamine and
norepinephrine in the brain (Stolz 585). Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of
Adderall on college campuses to enhance academic performance and cram for exams through the
over stimulation of the brain, therefore creating super enhanced focus (Stolz 585), deeming it the
smart drug. Due to the fact that several students are not truly diagnosed with ADHD, a majority of
this use on campuses is illegal; this has become a growing problem affecting the health of students
and entailing issues of competiveness and fairness (Jacobs 1). In recent years, the abuse of
Adderall has circulated hundreds of college campuses and even secondary schools.
Unfortunately, students are being deceived by the stimulant drug s valuable qualities, masking the
serious, detrimental effects that the drug induces. Even worse, contributing to Adderall s extensive
abuse across campuses, instead of condemnation it is implicitly being praised and validated by
parents and students who view these drugs as a means of academic

Review Of Twelve Steps To A Compassionate Life By Karen...
Compassion means to endure with other person, to put ourselves in somebody s else shoes. It is
a feeling of empathy, which in other words is to feel someone s pain as though if it were our
own. The book Twelve Steps to a Compassionate Life by Karen Armstrong, discusses a set of
different steps people should follow in order to be compassionate. Armstrong emphasizes in the
importance of compassion in the world. The world is surrounded with problems that we do not
know how to solve and by being compassionate to one another we can create a compassionate and
peaceful world. Every person in this earth has the possibility to be compassionate to others and this
includes treating each other a they wish to be treated, which in most cases is with dignity,... Show

As stated before, some of the steps to take into consideration are steps one and three, which are
to learn more about compassion and to have compassion for ourselves. Nevertheless, step seven,
how little we know is another of the crucial steps to create a change in our value system. This
step consists of understanding that we are not always right. There are a lot of problems that need
to be solved in our lives therefore we must examine our ideas by understanding how little we
know. It is a good and important beginning because people are able to listen to one another.
Thinking e know it all only blocks our knowledge and immediately pushes us backwards. Thinking
we know more than other people only creates a feeling of superiority. Giving people the opportunity
to speak their thought while listening to them, leads to respect for others and respect for
ourselves, which is a wonderful opportunity. Armstrong refers to this step as a step that helps
people to become wiser. For instance, Armstrong said that a person might think they know
something when they don t, and someone that does not know it or even think they know it have
a higher possibility of becoming wiser (p. 99). They are more likely to become wiser because they
are open minded where as the other person is blocking all the other ideas because he thinks he is

police brutality to this day. That s a large number. Day after day, police brutality incidents are
increasing, but is constantly left unnoticed. Although police brutality protest makes major
headlines from time to time, let s be honest, no one watches the news. So how exactly are
Americans supposed to get the message across? How are they supposed to educate the people?
How are they supposed to make it known? Well, the sports leagues have set the bait, and everyone
else is eating it. To kneel during the playing of the National Anthem is an effective and intuitive
way of informing the public of societal problems that exist in everyday society.
II. Body Paragraph #1 What does it mean to be oppressed? To be exact it s a prolonged cruel or

The First Three Phases Of The War, The Bohemian Phase (...
The thirty years war was an important conflict in the Holy Roman Empire that started in 1618 and
ended in 1648. It was fought between the German states and the Emperor; it was fought between
Catholics and Protestants, and it was also fought between outside nations against each other. The
thirty years war started with religious rivalries between Catholics and Protestants with some
political ambitions, but eventually developed mainly into a war of dynastic ambitions with many
groups attempting to gain political power over their opponents. The first three phases of the war,
the Bohemian phase (1618 1625), the Danish phase (1625 1629), and the Swedish Phase (1630
1635) were mainly fought over religious reasons with Catholics on one side and Protestants on the
other. Lutheranism was accepted in the Holy Roman Empiresince the Peace of Augsburg in 1555,
but Calvinism wasn t. However, many states still turned Calvinist, including the Palatinate whose
ruler was one of the seven people that elected the Holy Roman Emperor. In 1608, led by the
Palatinate, the protestant groups formed a protestant union. The Protestant states wanted to gain
more rights and weaken the empire by remaining independent. In response, some Catholic states
formed the Catholic union in 1609 led by Bavaria. The Austrian Habsburgs wanted to completely
eradicate Protestantism that was threatening the stability of their Empire. The tension between

Theme Paragraph
#9;Leadership is a prevailing force in life, because one s ability to guide and direct a group
determines the outcome of that group s actions. Those who lead the strikers in the novel In Dubious
Battle by John Steinbeck manifest the idea that some leaders use violence and the thirst for
revenge to augment the spirit of their group. Violence is one tool of which the leaders of the
strikers use to give vitality to their group. The leaders feel that the intense nature of violence is
what provokes the group most out of the aspects of violence. Mac comments, quot; Some things I
do know, though. A smell of blood seems to steam em up. Let em kill somethin , even a cat, an
they ll want to go right on killin . If there s a fight, an our guys get first blood, they ll put up a

cocked Burke... I seen you pointin , an I know what to do with em. A little blood set the guys
off. quot; (p. 331) The violence exacted by London brings the strikers to the level at which they
are willing to go into battle. Because violence is such an effective device, leaders like Mac look at
moments of violence as desirable opportunities. Some leaders also use the desire for revenge to
gain exuberance from their group. This desire for revenge stems from the desire to look out for
those who are victims of power. Mac explains,

Michael Ignatieff s One Country Saved Its Jews
Even though France s officials didn t help save them, there were other European countries that
protected their Jewish population from the Nazis, such as Denmark. During WWII, Denmark was
occupied by Nazi Germany in 1940. During this time, while the Nazis tried to round up Danish
Jews to send them to concentration camps, there was considerable opposition to the action. In his
article, One Country Saved Its Jews. Were They Just Better People?, Michael Ignatieff maintains
that When, in October 1943, the Gestapo came to round up the 7,500 Jews of Copenhagen, the
Danish police did not help them to smash down the doors. The churches read letters of protest to
their congregations. Neighbors helped families to flee to villages on the Baltic coast, where local

Neighbors didn t betray them and instead helped them escape and others would provide housing

Denmark promised collaboration with the Nazis, so their relationship between the Nazis was
uneasy, but cooperative. In the same way, the Nazis in turn left their government untouched as
Ignatieff states in the text, The Germans, for their part, put up with this frigid relationship: they
needed Danish food, and Danish cooperation freed up German military resources for battle on the
Eastern Front, and the Nazis wanted to be liked. They wanted their cooperative relationship with
Denmark to serve as a model for a future European community under Hitler s domination. This
means it was because of these reasons that the king, the Orthodox Church, and a few key Denmark
politicians were able to threaten the Nazis when they tried to round up the Jews, because they were
able to threaten to stop their compromise if they took the Jews in

Security Issues Faced By Pharmaceutical Companies
It wasn t too long ago that the main security issue facing pharmaceutical companies was protecting
their intellectual property from competitors who might be so unscrupulous as to try and steal
information about new products. As computers became more entrenched in the pharmaceutical
industry, for example, a clinical trialmeans having to store patient information, security became an
issue as the pharmaceutical companies began storing patient data on their servers they must comply
with HIPAA, so patient privacy became an important cyber security issue. Always a priority, cyber
security is at the top of the list for pharmaceutical organizations as threats from terrorist groups on
pharmaceutical firms is real and increasing.
Terrorist groups use stolen information by selling it and using the proceeds for recruitment and
criminal terrorist activities. Patient information with social security numbers is also highly sought
as it can be used for stealing patient identities, opening credit lines so they are used as sources for
funding these criminal groups.
In 2015, data breaches caused great pain and expense to the pharmaceutical segment. In 2015
$5.7 billion. In 2016 it is expected that the cost of a data breach will average $221 for every
record containing confidential information. That is a 2% increase over 2015 with the average
company enduring a 7% increase; from $6.53 million per data breach to just over $7 million.

An Introduction Of Analgesic And Anti Inflammatory
CHAPTER 1
Introduction and Background
Introduction
Analgesic and anti inflammatory are often used in the Philippines. They manage pain by altering
other afferent input. Anti inflammatory are used to mobilize the body s defense and destroys

Plants have first been discovered throughout human history as a source of food and energy. The use
of them as medicinal agents predates written human history. At present, plants are now rampant
sources of various types of medicines and remedies, whether they are pharmaceutically
manufactured or used naturally. The term medicinal plants are referred to as the plants themselves,
while plant medicines are the pharmaceutical preparations prepared from those plants. (Kilham, C.
and Helene, Z., 2012). Abelmoschus esculentus L., commonly known as okra or ladies finger , is a
substantial vegetable common among Filipino homes. The pods of okra are usually gathered while

International Adoption Essay example
International Adoption
When a mission team from south Florida arrived in Camp Haitia, they saw what to them was the
most poverty stricken land on earth. Some of the men were literally ill at the sight of the filth in
the rivers, on the land, and covering the children. Because Haiti is one of the poorest nations in the
world, families do not even have enough to provide for their children, and many of them are left to
fend for themselves. The mission team witnessed them bathing in polluted waters and scrounging
for non existent food. I asked one member of this mission team if adoption was a possibility for any
of these kids. His response was enthusiastic and emotional. I witnessed first hand for months his
diligent efforts to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still another reason why fewer children are available for adoption is the legalization of abortion.
While these are not all necessarily negative reasons, they still are a discouragement to families
desiring a child. Because there are so few children placed for adoption, the current waiting list is
seven years or more (Fulton 2). International adoptions, however, can take as little as four months
(Jeffreys 9), and at most one year (Fulton 2). Also, the adoption process itself is much simpler
when dealing internationally. There are fewer restrictive eligibility requirements consisting of a
home study by a social worker, police records clearing the perspective parents of past wrong doing,
financial statements, a marriage certificate, proof of citizenship, medical histories, and reference
letters (Fulton 3). The applicants may work through specific orphanages, adoption agencies, or
their personal attorney. International laws state that agencies must be non profit organizations/and
may not operate on the basis of region or creed (Hibbs 211). This extends the possibility of
adoption to a greater economical and sociological group.
Two reasons that there is such an abundance of homeless children in foreign countries are poverty
and overpopulation. For instance, because China houses nearly one forth of the worlds population,
they have set a one child per family law (Fulton 3). This forces the

Persuasive Essay On Organ Donation
Alec Peltekian
Ms. Branin
Honors English 11, Period 3
5/31/17
As one life ends a new beginning is created for another. Thousands of lives are saved each year in
the United States alone just by organ donation. With each donor passing away and donating their
organs to those in peril, children with heart conditions or adults with liver disease are given
another chance to live a new healthy life. It is the definition of charity and it gives so many
desperate people the hope they need. However, such a beautiful and giving process can be
quickly altered into a dark process for those involved with the Black Market. Many types or
organs, often stolen from unsuspecting victims of Dark Web crime, are sold on the Black Market
for large amounts ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is the exact opposite reason for those operating along the evil networks of the Dark Web.
The Web s main priority is to make high risk deals and investments to bring the highest reward
for its salespersons. The risk is run so high that is breaks all governing bodies laws in the
process. Sites have been known to sell illegal organs for large sums of money including a heart
[that] will set you back $65,000 (VICE 6). The purchase is simply just this immense fortune and
no insurance or paperwork for the exchange. As stated before, the purpose of this method is
strictly making money. The Dark Web is its own sick and twisted economy for those willing to do
what it takes for money. Doctors must consider and weigh the ethical background of how they
receive every organ from a willing donor, or unsuspecting victim.
Another legitimate concern in this field, is where the organ came from and the security one has
knowing that it came from a healthy and well suited environment. If the organ was put under
harmful stress by the previous human, the organ might fail to function correctly. This is why organ
donation keeps a large sample size when it comes to the volunteer pool. If someone does have a
deficiency or disease affecting organs, they have opportunities to help as one s medical condition
at the time of death will determine what organs and tissue can be donated (MedLine Plus 1). This
safe way of donation allows

Descriptive Essay About A Song
One day during my sophomore year of high school while I was waiting for my class to start, I
decided to explore new genres of music and artists that I haven t listened to before. I was sitting on
the floor outside of my classroom searching through Spotify for something new and exciting. After
looking through the Classic Rock section on Spotify, I came across the band Queen. Since that
moment, I have been and avid Queen listener and have listened to all their songs. I have been
particularly fond of their albums The Game, The Miracle and Night at the Opera.
The first Queen song I heard was Bohemian Rhapsody from the album Night at the Opera. It was
around 7:45 am, the morning was very still and quiet and the sky was clear. My surroundings
became increasingly louder as the school day was about to begin and it was a cool morning
unlike the typical Floridian morning weather. After scrolling through various Queen songs on
Spotify, I stumbled upon as song I have heard about through friends but not listened to: Bohemian
Rhapsody. Just like the eerily still morning, the exposition of the song was smooth and relaxed.
The beginning of the song sounded like there were many voices in harmony and the hazy, smooth
timbre resonated in my ear buds. The lyrics of the song matched with the eerie quality of the
voices, the lyrics indicate that the singers are in some state of confusion and are unclear of their
surroundings. The singers hold the last word of each verse for a beat longer than

Analysis Of Kenny Chesney s Song American Kids
In America, our identity often comes from the culture we live in and develop for ourselves. The
identity of many Americans is also developed by their actions. Some groups develop an identity
by speaking their native language, like some members of Chinatown in various American cities.
Others develop their identities by the way they dress, music they listen to, and their sexual
identity. We can clearly see some of the largest factors used to develop one s identity is the area in
which they live in and their actions throughout their day to day life. In Kenny Chesneys song
American Kids we see the development of identity from the hometowns and actions of these so
called kids. In his song Chesney sings about what he calls kids but we... Show more content on

We can use the words of Akeel Bilgrami in his essay Notes toward the definition of identity to
help us analyze and question Chesney s song. In his essay Bilgrami says there is an outset
between the subjective and objective aspects of identity. Your subjective identity is what you
conceive yourself to be, whereas your objective identity is how you might be viewed
independently of how you see yourself (Bilgrami 5). These definitions can easily be applied to
say that Chesney only provides us an objective view of the overall group. This causes wonder as
to what the subjective identity of being an American these teens may have, then bringing us to
question, is it possible for an objective identity to represent the subjective identity of a person? To
answer this question, we must analyze how Chesney builds this identity and use outside texts such
as that of Bilgrami, The Citizen and the Terrorist by Audrey Lorde, as well as What does it mean
to be an American? by Sarah Song to assist in this analysis.
The answer to this question is one that can be said very simply, the true answer for when someone
asks if an objective identity can accurately represent a subjective identity is, No. This one word
totally encompasses this as there is no way to completely give an accurate view of a subjective
identity

The Golden Age Of Medieval Philosophy
Medieval philosophy is the philosophy which formed during the medieval time period after the fall
of the Roman Empire. This time period was the rise of independent philosophy and the linkage
between their understandings with the theories of past philosophers. The history of medieval
philosophy is divided into two periods; the period of the Christian philosophy, which included St.
Thomas Aquinas, St. Augustine, and Marsilius of Padua. The next period of the medieval
philosophy known as the golden age of Arabic phosphors, this age of philosophers included Al
Farabi, Ibn Tufayl, and Moses Maimonides. both political periods were infused with great
ideological views.

He argues that the leading authority of the state should be the political government and the church
must step down and allow the state to fulfill its responsibilities. St. Augustine shared similar
beliefs to Aquinas. He beloved that man is evil, so there is a need for political authority. His idea
was that the people within the state would act virtuously and by doing this, they would follow the
laws set by man.
The medieval philosophers originated from the middle east, yet most adopted Jewish beliefs.
Constitutors such as al farabi, ibn tufayl, and moss Maimonides produced some of the most
profound pieces in Arabic political history. During this time, the Islamic region strongly dismissed
the notions of Aristotle and Plato and focused solely on their religious teaching. But the Arabic
philosophers saw a connection between the two. yet, they found it necessary to incorporate the idea
of reason into their teachings. This caused conflict within their society because the citizens believed
that there was no need for reason, rather the only need was God and his teachings. Further, they
believed that the teachings of reason did not link to their religious values. Al Farabi infused his
work with the work of Aristotle and Plato such as; the survival of the soul and the punishment of
the afterlife. Ibn Tufayl philosophy pertaining to religion explains the harmony of joining reason

Plant Growth Of The Brassica Rapa
Background There is a drought in California which is in turn affecting the number of crops that
can be grown in a given amount of time. Farmers now must find a way to grow crops in an
economical fashion while also maximizing each yield as much as possible. However, plant growth
can be influenced by seedvariety, the amount of water, the soil type, amount of light, etc., and many
other variables. For this experiment, we are testing the growth of the Brassica rapa, a mustard plant
under the same conditions of water, sunlight, and oxygen, with two different treatment solutions.
There will be two pots, one has a treatment of just deionized water and the other a treatment of
fertilizer as well as deionized water. Because the fertilizer has the added benefit of nitrogen,
phosphorous, and potassium along with the same quantity of deionized water as the first pot, it is
hypothesized that both sets of plants will grow, however the pot with fertilizer will grow more than
the pot with just water treatment. In the Fertilizer Responses of Volunteer Longleaf PineTrees within
a Loblolly Pine Plantation: Separating Direct Effects from Competition Effects paper, an
experiment on the effect of fertilization on two trees was done. Before the experiment was initiated,
it was known that fertilization increases the growth and productivity of the loblolly pine tree, while
it was hypothesized that the longleaf pine tree is less responsive to fertilization (Anderson, 2009).

The USA used the Eagle as their unit, and Germany introduced the new gold mark, while Canada
adopted a dual system based on both the American Gold Eagle and the British Gold Sovereign.
Australia and New Zealand adopted the British gold standard, as did the British West Indies,
while Newfoundland was the only British Empire territory to introduce its own gold coin as a

Victoria, and Perth, Western Australia for the purposes of minting gold sovereigns from
Australia s rich gold deposits. The Gold Exchange Standard Towards the end of the 19th century
some of the remaining silver standard countries began to peg their silver coin units to the gold
standards of the United Kingdom or the USA. In 1898,British India pegged the silver rupee to
the pound sterling at a fixed rate of 1s 4d, while in 1906, the Straits Settlements adopted a gold
exchange standard against the pound sterling with the silver Straits dollar being fixed at 2s 4d.
Meanwhile at the turn of the century, the Philippines pegged the silver Peso/dollar to the US
dollar at 50 cents. A similar pegging at 50 cents occurred at around the same time with the silver
Peso of Mexico and the silver Yen of Japan. When Siam adopted a gold exchange standard in
1908, this left only China and Hong Kong on the silver standard. The gold specie standard ended in
the United Kingdom and the rest of the British Empire at the outbreak of

The Book Of Job By Katharine Dell
There are some who say we are not truly human until we have suffered 1 as said by Katharine Dell.
There is also a though throughout the bible that God makes us suffer for our wrongdoings and past
offenses. If this is so, then the protagonist of the Book of Job put both of these thoughts to the test
while remaining faithful to God. Similarly to Job in John chapter nine, Jesus disciples questionhim
in regards to human sufferingand punishment from God. The idea of punishing a child for their
parents sins is an over arching idea in the bible that acts as an explanation to why human suffer.

Zaphar tells Job that he must put away his sins and then God will restore him to former form.3
By saying this, Zaphar claims that once Job repents for the sins he has committed, God will heal
Job and he will be well once again. Similar to Zaphar s speech, Bildad asks Job if he should be
blameless and that surely God will awaken in him and restore him to his former domain.4 After
these speeches Eliphaz tells Job Call now! Will anyone respond to you? To which of the holy
ones will you appeal? 5 By saying this, he is telling Job to call for help and pity from God and
religious officials. He is also claiming that Job does not appeal to anyone in his current state
because of his leprosy and distorted state. After all of these accusations and claims against Job,
the thought that he may truly be innocent never crosses any of the friends minds.7 And after his
friend s speeches, Job s other friend Elihu cannot hold his thoughts in any more and begins a
tirade against Job. Now after Elihu s elders have spoken and have nothing left to say Elihu
cannot hold his thoughts any more. He begins to go on a tirade against Job because he believes
that Job is wrong to question God at all. He believes, as well as Job s other friends, that Job must
have done something wrong because God does not just punish good people. But the main part of
Elihu s argument is the fact that Job is questioning

that is very touching is the fact that they deal with suicide prevention. This is a very complicated
legal situation and deals with public policies. Furthermore, helping with drug addictions was
another impacting topic of Public Health. Not only is it difficult to watch a drug addict suffer on
a daily basis, but also watching their families struggle emotionally. Public Health helps educate
drug addicts by helping them quit the drug they are using and provide epidemics. In turn, this
will allow the drug addict to quit their addiction as well as help their family s situation get back
to normal again. In conclusion, I learned that Public Health is a field in which it helps people feel
happy again, teaches about health care disease, and helps change the lives of others positively.
That is why the Public Health field will be an important career in the

The Importance Of Abolishing The Penny
Ever since we were in elementary school, we learned of the six coins that we all use for
transactions: the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, fifty cent and dollar coin. While we rarely ever
see the fifty cent or dollar coin, the penny is one of the most widely recognizable and minted
coin in the United States, accounting for almost 55% of the coins minted every year. But the
growing debate of keeping or abolishing the penny has become a real hot pot between the two
sides. This essay will side with the abolishment of the penny and go into detail as to why it
should be abolished. Many bills have been proposed as of late but none was as head turning as US
Rep. Jim Kolbe with his anti penny bill back in 2001 and 2006. The bill, in simpler terms,

Taming Of The Shrew And 10 Thing I Hate About You
Money isn t the only thing that is valuable in this world. Although in many film texts this is not
the case. Particularly in Taming of the Shrew and 10 Thing I Hate About You because in both of
the films, the main male characters Patrick and Petruchio are predominantly motivated by money.
However, they ended up falling for Kat and Katharina who have been set up as the archetypal
shrews in both films. During the Elizabethan era money was a major factor that influenced society
s view of your personal wealth. this is clearly reflected in the 1967 film text but is not evident in
the 1998 version due to changing ideologies. Subsequently,I believe that the Taming of the Shrew is
more an exercise in misogyny whereas 10 Things I hate About Youis more of a lovestory about a
man liberating a woman, who may be seen as her equal, and who is as cunning as he is.
In both films money is considered a valuable asset depending on how it was used. For example
in Taming of the Shrew ,Petruchio marries Katharina for her money and in 10 things I hate About
You , Patrick only runs after Kat because he knows that he is being paid to do it. This is clearly
shown when Patrick states Some cretin paid me to take out this really great girl . In The Taming of
the Shrew , money is considered to be the main concept of society meaning that no one would care
about an individual if they were not wealthy whereas in 10 Things I Hate About You it shows that

  • 2. Public Speaking Short Story Public Speaking by Gustav W It was a cold and foggy morning, less than 3 degrees, but in the town of Sylvester this was considered warm, Sylvester was a town unlike others because it was home to the greatest adventurers of all time: Billy the Bold, Jumbo the Gibberish, Collin the cold butt and miss and Mr Appleby. And this is where our story begins. Jeff was out picking apples with his dog Dingelberry. After Jeff returned he decided he would become Sylvester s next great explorer he packed his things and set sail in his boat. After 20 minutes Jeff found out that he was a really bad sailor and had to turn back to land back at home Jeff thought of a solution where he would not have to sail or swim. Jeff stayed up all night to think of something and then in the morning Jeff had designed and made the perfect flying machine. Outside Jeff tried his hardest to heave the plane outside and just then his best friend walked by and with the added help of his friend they finally got onto the hill with a ramp at the bottom so the plane could take off. Jeff rolled down the hill and took off he soared through the sky but after a while Jeff realised that the fuel canister was extremely low so he had to turn back. Back at home Jeff had to think of a way to switch the fuel while In the air and he kept coming to the same conclusion someone or something would have to manually climb on to the wing and pour the fuel into the tank while the plane is still flying in mid air over the treacherous ... For those who prefer using environmental friendly products, you would be pleased to know that most dry carpet cleaning technologies use biodegradable compound as the main cleaning product. However, dry carpet cleaning has often been misunderstood as a cleaning method suitable only for light soiling carpet condition or for periodic maintenance purpose as dry cleaning system was known to clean only the carpet surface and not deep carpet cleaning. Over recent years, with further developments and research, dry carpet cleaning systems has now come with a range of stain removal products that will be applied on heavily soiled carpet or stubborn stains during pre cleaning treatment. • 4. Trust In Hamlet Trust is an essential department of every relationship. A healthy relationship needs trust and dependence on one another. Without trust, doubt and suspicions befall and tension arises between two people. In the play, Hamlet by William Shakespeare, trust is crucial and very breakable. The main character, Hamlet, is faced in a conflicting situation in which he begins to question the motives of the people closest to him, after his father s death. He begins to doubt and suspect people close to him like, his lover, Ophelia, and his university friends, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern. Despite his keen trustissues, he forms a solid and unbreakable trust with his close friend, Horatio in which he is the only person Hamlet has ever let through his walls.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They have shown no signs of care or worry for Hamlet after his father s death, instead, they turn their backs on him by following the commands of the King against him for their own benefit. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are both commissioned by the King to spy on Hamlet and they easily comply with him because they care about Hamlet no more than they care about themselves, But we both obey, and here give up ourselves to lay our service freely at your feet, to be commanded. (2.2.31 34). After his father s death, he experiences an emotional and mental crisis on whether or not he should trust the people around him. Shakespeare puts Hamlet and his relationship with his university friends in this situation as to relay a message that trust is a breakable bond, and that no matter how close Hamlet is to someone, he has to build his walls around himself so that he won t be vulnerable to their inevitable attack. He shows that people will do anything, even as far as to betray their friends for their own self interest, because people are selfish that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Caliban in Shakespeare s The Tempest Essay The Tempest, considered by many to be Shakespeare s farewell to the theatre, has of all his plays the most remarkable interpretive richness. The exceptional flexibility of Shakespeare s stage is given particular prominence in The Tempest due to its originality and analytic potential, in particular in the presentation of one of his most renowned and disputed characters, Caliban. Superficially portrayed in the play as a most detestable monster, Caliban does not evoke much sympathy. However, on further examination Caliban presents himself as an extremely complex character and soon his apparent monstrosity is not so obviously transparent. The diverse range of presentations of him on stage exemplifies Caliban s multifarious character.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the introduction to Critical Essays on Shakespeare s The Tempest, Editor Alden T. Vaughan describes how the commonly accepted view of Prospero s character was that of a wise and rational ruler [who] could govern the forces of disorder that undermine the family and the state . Indeed, before the beginning of the nineteenth century Prospero was presented as thus, while Caliban as an abominable, inhuman beast. As the play drew a greater audience worldwide however, that view began to change and post colonial interpretations began to present themselves in which Caliban was cast in a more empathic light. These critics noted how easily the figure of Caliban converges with the image of the cannibal, the mythical savage whom many European travellers claimed to have encountered. The name Caliban even seems to be a pointed anagram of cannibal . Since that time, views have changed on the savagery of those natives and with it, on the savagery of Caliban. In the 1978 Royal Shakespeare Company production of The Tempest, David Suchet played a humanized, though exploited, third world Caliban, possibly a representative African or West Indian. This interpretation draws on many views that Caliban represents a subjugated native and that the relationship between Prospero and Caliban is, in fact, a relationship between the oppressor, and the oppressed. Indeed, the island was Caliban s before Prospero and Miranda arrived where he was then reduced to being a slave. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. The Roller Coaster Of Roller Coasters Since humans were created, we have always searched for some kind of thrill and excitement. Once man was tired of playing with something as dangerous as fire, he decided to move on to more dangerous things, thus, the roller coaster was born. From sliding down rocky mountains, to the huge steel coasters we have today. Roller coasters have evolved, and will continue to evolve alongside humans. The way roller coasters are made, the safety of the roller coasters and the popularity of them are just a few things that make up the history of these magnificent gifts to man. Coaster history has its ups, downs and loop di loops, all that bring us to where we are today. Roller coasters originally were very different from the ones in amusement parks ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ride was constructed by LaMarcus A. Thompson and was the first Gravity Switchback Railway. This particular coaster attracted many people and brought tons of business to Coney Island. (Benson 2012. AceOnline.org). From here the roller coaster business only went up. By the 1920 s, roller coasters were extremely popular. Nearly 2,000 coasters were built! Sadly, there are not many, if any of these coasters still standing. According to the most recent census there are close to 750 coasters in the United States alone! There are around 4,500 total in the whole world (Johnson 2016.rcdb.com). The growth of roller coasters continue to expand as more resources become available and inventors become more creative. Back in the 1990s, roller coasters were primarily made out of wood with small bits of steel and metals. Wood was much cheaper and easier to use.(Schaefer 2004 Roller Coasters). This put a limit on how coasters could be designed so the majority of them around the united states were extremely similar. The safety of rider s was not much of a concern back in those days. There were many deaths back in the 1900 s simply because most of the coasters had faulty designs, safety, or were improperly built. (McGill 2001. Ultimaterollercoasters.com), The amount of deaths that were caused because of the negligence is exactly why roller coasters had to change to fit the times and safety resources. Today, the safety ... • 8. The Testament Of Isaiah And Isaiah Throughout the Old Testament God carried out his plan to bring His people back to Him. Often the people of Israel would fall away from their relationship with God by worshipping false Idols such as Baal or by disobeying His commands in general. One of the main ways God got his message of redemption to His people was via prophets, spiritually gifted individuals that God lifted up to communicate His will to the people of Israel. The prophets Jeremiah and Isaiah often were used to call Israel out on their wickedness, and to warn then of God s coming judgement that would teach them a lesson. It is clear from what the prophets wrote, that God very much intended to wipe the sins of the nation s away, one way or another. This is a message that still very much applies today, Isaiah and Jeremiah were meant to steer God s people back to Him and their messages with Christians today are supposed to do the same. Judah and Israel in their time were constantly full of sins and needing to be cleansed. In the beginning of Isaiah, he opens by stating that they were a sinful nation, A people laden with iniquity, A brood of evildoers, Children who are corrupters! They have forsaken the lord. (Isaiah 1:4, New King James Version). The sins of Judah and Israel were many and that is why God sent the prophets with the message they gave. In attempt to warn the people that disobeying God s commandments would lead to harsh punishment. It is apparent that God did respond to the sins harshly. In ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Galactic Empire Research Paper The Galactic Empire is the largest military force in the galaxy, with their only opposition being the Rebel Alliance. The AT AT Walker is arguably the most powerful terrestrial vehicle at the disposal of the Galactic Empire. The Empire employs the AT AT onto the battlefield as both a troop transport and an assault craft. The AT AT has been deployed in multiple battlefield environments, including the assault on Hoth and defense of the forest moon of Endor, with deadly effect. The AT AT is used when the Empire needs to assault an enemy position, or when a large amount of enemies need taken out. The AT AT is also utilized as a physiological deterrent. One such weakness is its inability to attack anything behind its main body. The walker would have to turn completely around to engage a target behind it thus exposing itself to the direction it was previously facing. One of the most commonly exploited weaknesses of the AT AT is it high center of gravity, making it top heavy. One example of the rebels taking advantage of this weakness is when the Empire assaulted Hoth. Rebel snow speeders attached tow lines toe the walker s legs and wrapped the line around it until the walker got snagged and toppled over. The walker also has a hard time attacking more than one target at a time. Another weakness is the flexible tunnel that runs between the cargo and troop areas of the craft and the head. One direct blast to this tunnel detonated the entire AT AT. The platting on the underbelly of the walker is slightly weaker and easier to damage. The AT AT also has no way to protect against troops beneath its main body, where the lightly armored hatch can be easily cut free and sabotaged. One other big weakness in the design of the AT AT is the fact that it is very slow compared to the smaller AT ST. Also the terrain it is in can limit it much farther, with it moving at its fastest on flat smooth ground and its slowest on steep rocky inclines, and heavily forested areas like the moon of Endor where its usage was far less than the ... • 10. Taylor Swifts At the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards, Kanye West stormed the stage, and vehemently declared that Beyonce s music video was better than winner Taylor Swifts. The two nominated videos for best music video by a female performer were: Taylor Swifts You Belong With Me , and Beyonce s Single Ladies. While the videos were nominated for the same award, they are significantly different. Mainly due to the fact that the genre s of the two artists are varied. Taylor Swift being a country singer, and Beyonce a pop singer. Beyonce s video contributes to the pop genre consisting of urban contemporary, and dance style. Most commonly using a repeated chorus, and a hook: a rhythmic phrase making the song catchy, and appealing to the audience. Equally, Taylor Swifts video contributes greatly to the country genre, and the love story, the song and video are trying to capture. This can be created by using things like sound proof glass and insulation and having heavy duty soundproof doors. However I do not believe these actions will be needed as the office block is located in quite a rural and quiet area in itself. However there will be some steps taken to ensure the tranquillity of the offices such as the insulation being sound proof. Another factor would be that the walls must be thick to allow little sound in the office from the surrounding area to allow more concentration. Essentially 35 decibels of sound would be an optimum noise level this is like the same level of acoustics in a library. Things like the printer and the other machines can effect noise levels but keeping them in a separate room can prevent them from becoming a distraction. Also the customers of the shop below could create noise but good insulation will prevent this to a certain degree. Thermal environment within the office: the thermal factors of the office block should be a constant comfortable heat this allows the workers to concentrate a lot better and results in a better work environment. This can be accomplished by underground heating using heated pipes under a carpeted office block. • 29. Student Justifications for Abusing Adderall What Are U of M Students Perceptions of Adderall? INTRODUCTION With the increased pressure to succeed and the chaotic collegiate lifestyle taking a toll on students, Adderall has evolved into the go to drug. The Class II prescription amphetamine is intended to solely treat individuals with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and narcolepsy. The stimulant works to enhance concentration by stimulating the production of dopamine and norepinephrine in the brain (Stolz 585). Recently, there has been a dramatic increase in the use of Adderall on college campuses to enhance academic performance and cram for exams through the over stimulation of the brain, therefore creating super enhanced focus (Stolz 585), deeming it the smart drug. Due to the fact that several students are not truly diagnosed with ADHD, a majority of this use on campuses is illegal; this has become a growing problem affecting the health of students and entailing issues of competiveness and fairness (Jacobs 1). In recent years, the abuse of Adderall has circulated hundreds of college campuses and even secondary schools. Unfortunately, students are being deceived by the stimulant drug s valuable qualities, masking the serious, detrimental effects that the drug induces. Even worse, contributing to Adderall s extensive abuse across campuses, instead of condemnation it is implicitly being praised and validated by parents and students who view these drugs as a means of academic ... As stated before, some of the steps to take into consideration are steps one and three, which are to learn more about compassion and to have compassion for ourselves. Nevertheless, step seven, how little we know is another of the crucial steps to create a change in our value system. This step consists of understanding that we are not always right. There are a lot of problems that need to be solved in our lives therefore we must examine our ideas by understanding how little we know. It is a good and important beginning because people are able to listen to one another. Thinking e know it all only blocks our knowledge and immediately pushes us backwards. Thinking we know more than other people only creates a feeling of superiority. Giving people the opportunity to speak their thought while listening to them, leads to respect for others and respect for ourselves, which is a wonderful opportunity. Armstrong refers to this step as a step that helps people to become wiser. For instance, Armstrong said that a person might think they know something when they don t, and someone that does not know it or even think they know it have a higher possibility of becoming wiser (p. 99). They are more likely to become wiser because they are open minded where as the other person is blocking all the other ideas because he thinks he is superior to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It was fought between the German states and the Emperor; it was fought between Catholics and Protestants, and it was also fought between outside nations against each other. The thirty years war started with religious rivalries between Catholics and Protestants with some political ambitions, but eventually developed mainly into a war of dynastic ambitions with many groups attempting to gain political power over their opponents. The first three phases of the war, the Bohemian phase (1618 1625), the Danish phase (1625 1629), and the Swedish Phase (1630 1635) were mainly fought over religious reasons with Catholics on one side and Protestants on the other. Those who lead the strikers in the novel In Dubious Battle by John Steinbeck manifest the idea that some leaders use violence and the thirst for revenge to augment the spirit of their group. Violence is one tool of which the leaders of the strikers use to give vitality to their group. The leaders feel that the intense nature of violence is what provokes the group most out of the aspects of violence. Mac comments, quot; Some things I do know, though. Still another reason why fewer children are available for adoption is the legalization of abortion. While these are not all necessarily negative reasons, they still are a discouragement to families desiring a child. Because there are so few children placed for adoption, the current waiting list is seven years or more (Fulton 2). International adoptions, however, can take as little as four months (Jeffreys 9), and at most one year (Fulton 2). Also, the adoption process itself is much simpler when dealing internationally. There are fewer restrictive eligibility requirements consisting of a home study by a social worker, police records clearing the perspective parents of past wrong doing, financial statements, a marriage certificate, proof of citizenship, medical histories, and reference letters (Fulton 3). Farmers now must find a way to grow crops in an economical fashion while also maximizing each yield as much as possible. For this experiment, we are testing the growth of the Brassica rapa, a mustard plant under the same conditions of water, sunlight, and oxygen, with two different treatment solutions. There will be two pots, one has a treatment of just deionized water and the other a treatment of fertilizer as well as deionized water. • 49. The Importance Of Abolishing The Penny Ever since we were in elementary school, we learned of the six coins that we all use for transactions: the penny, nickel, dime, quarter, fifty cent and dollar coin. While we rarely ever see the fifty cent or dollar coin, the penny is one of the most widely recognizable and minted coin in the United States, accounting for almost 55% of the coins minted every year. But the growing debate of keeping or abolishing the penny has become a real hot pot between the two sides. This essay will side with the abolishment of the penny and go into detail as to why it should be abolished. Many bills have been proposed as of late but none was as head turning as US Rep. Jim Kolbe with his anti penny bill back in 2001 and 2006. The bill, in simpler terms, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. Taming Of The Shrew And 10 Thing I Hate About You Money isn t the only thing that is valuable in this world. Although in many film texts this is not the case. Particularly in Taming of the Shrew and 10 Thing I Hate About You because in both of the films, the main male characters Patrick and Petruchio are predominantly motivated by money. However, they ended up falling for Kat and Katharina who have been set up as the archetypal shrews in both films. During the Elizabethan era money was a major factor that influenced society s view of your personal wealth. this is clearly reflected in the 1967 film text but is not evident in the 1998 version due to changing ideologies. Subsequently,I believe that the Taming of the Shrew is more an exercise in misogyny whereas 10 Things I hate About Youis more of a lovestory about a man liberating a woman, who may be seen as her equal, and who is as cunning as he is. In both films money is considered a valuable asset depending on how it was used. For example in Taming of the Shrew ,Petruchio marries Katharina for her money and in 10 things I hate About You , Patrick only runs after Kat because he knows that he is being paid to do it. This is clearly shown when Patrick states Some cretin paid me to take out this really great girl . In The Taming of the Shrew , money is considered to be the main concept of society meaning that no one would care about an individual if they were not wealthy whereas in 10 Things I Hate About You it shows that most of the people who go to Padua ... Dr. Torsten Wiesel Dr. Torsten Wiesel, who was half of a long lived scientific partnership that received a Nobel Prize for explaining how the brain processes signals from the eye to create images of the world, died XXX. He was XXX. XXX announced his death. Dr. Wiesel and his collaborator, Dr. David Hubel, shared the 1981 Nobel in Physiology or Medicine with Roger Sperry for discovering ways the brain processes sensory information. Dr. Wiesel and Dr. Hubel focused on the visual system, initially in cats and later in monkeys; Dr. Sperry unraveled the functions of the brain s left and right hemispheres. Before Dr. Wiesel and Dr. Hubel started their research in the 1950s, scientists generally believed that the brain functioned like a movie screen, displaying images ... Dr. Wiesel and Dr. Hubel were recruited with their mentor, Dr. Kuffler, to Harvard Medical School in 1959. Dr. Wiesel was named a full professor at Harvard in 1964 and he became chair of the medical school s department of neurobiology in 1973. Dr. Wiesel was soon immersed in administrative duties; Dr. Hubel started traveling to give lectures about their work. Their research, now focused on the higher visual areas of the brain, faltered. Soon, they parted ways. David and I never spent much time together outside the lab; what developed between us, our private dialogues, took place while we carried out our experiments, Dr. Wiesel wrote. When those explorations stalled, when the wonder faded, so did our collaboration. In 1983 he moved to Rockefeller University to establish a neurobiology lab and in 1991 he was named president of Rockefeller. Before stepping down in 1998, he formed six new research institutes and an affiliation with the Aaron Diamond Aids Research Center. After that, he worked to expand training opportunities for young scientists in the U.S. and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
