Spearmint Log
In this research paper, I am determining which gum will last the longest. It may come to your
surprise that mint flavored gum lasts longer than fruit flavored gum. To do my project, I am taking
five different gum flavors and chewing them to determine which flavor lasts. The types of gum I
will be using are Juicy Fruit, Fruit Stripe, Spearmint, Extra Polar Ice, and Bubblicious. When I
chew the gum, I hypothesize that the Spearmint gum will last longer.
The reason mint gum lasts longer is that mint is a very strong oil with a strong distinct flavor. The
flavor will simply last longer as it s a stronger taste. Although you may have thought that Juicy Fruit
or Fruit Stripe may last longer because it s strong fruit flavor, but the mint actually

Essay on The Practice of Music Censorship
Music censorship has taken many forms in the past, but many forms are overbearing and
generally ridiculous. Censorship comes in many forms. The practice of censorship is defined as
...the act of changing or suppressing speech or writing that is considered subversive of the
common good. (Merriam Webster). Old forms of censorship included not allowing airplay, refusal
of sale, and refusal of publishment. The major issue found with those that oppose censorship, is
that they have no real grounds to address the problem sensibly. Most focus of censorship, however,
is focused on the younger genres of music such as Metal, Punk, and especially Rap. The structure
/ practice of censoring offensive, lyrics during mid song comes in different... Show more content on

There is no area for the language to be expressed and let be untouched.(EO) Much of America s
censorship has seen specific targets in what has been chosen to be censored. A wondrous
example would be the foreign metal pop influence band, Rammstein. A number of their songs
were banned from television, or were not permitted to play on daytime airtimes.(Rammstein) An
example of one of their songs banned, is a track that s titled Ich Will. When this track s name is
translated to english, it reads I want. The video accompanying the song portrays the band
committing crimes of terrorism, then later receiving airtime for their behaviour. Politicians
actually moved to have the video and song banned from the US on account of the behaviour
shown in the video.(Rammstein) References of bands being dis promoted for their portrayals in
lyrics and video accompaniments go on for ages. A short list of examples of songs/ artists that
saw censorship in newer music consists of Tell Me Baby, (RHCP), also Killing in the Name of,
(Rage Against the Machine) and Closer, (NIN) So overall, Music has it s own particular area of
censorship which is unique and flawed in it s own way. Although there have been some more recent
changes in music to support the freedom of artists, the past has been condemning and rough for
artists to easily express, themselves through their

How Charles Dickens Portrays Class in Great Expectations...
The novel, Great Expectations is deemed to be one of the greatest
English classic novels of the literary heritage. Charles Dickens, the author of Great Expectations is
thought to be one of history s finest writers and has contributed to English literature in many ways.
Great
Expectations is Dickens thirteenth novel and is based loosely on his own experiences. He did this
with many of his novels, including his partly auto biographical piece, David Copperfield (with
Dickens s own negligent mother and father being closely depicted in his character, David s parents).
All the Year Round was a magazine that Charles Dickenshad founded.
In late 1860, the sales of the magazine were dropping, and so Dickens began publishing ... Show

In the Victorian times, there was a lack of social mobility, meaning that it was difficult to move
from one class to the next. There were three classes which were determined by parentage. The
aristocracy were those with wealth and power. The middle class were managers, who if they were
exceedingly successful, could become rich but it was hard to adapt to the habits and behaviour of
the aristocracy. Unfortunately for those who were working class
(undertaking manual labour), it was almost a fruitless struggle to try. Pip s life shows how one
individual has moved from the working class to becoming a gentleman . This essay will be
concentrating on the way Dickens portrays class in Great Expectations .
The story is a fictional autobiography of Pip who narrates the story of his life when he is an adult.
Because of this, there are two Pips
Pip the narrator, who tells us the story many years after the events and Pip the child, who acts out
the events as they are taking place.
We know this, as Pip the narrator often uses adult vocabulary to speak of his childhood. He uses
words such as interlocutor to describe the convict it is not the type of word a young child would
use. Pip reflects on the way he viewed the small graves for his brothers in chapter one,
unreasonably , which show that he realises now that at the time it was absurd for him to have
thought that his brothers were buried on their

Database Xml And Resource Description Framework ( Rdf )
A triplestore is a non relational database that stores and retrieves triples using semantic queries.
Triples store data and are imported and exported using the Resource Description Framework
(RDF). A triple is a data entity comprising three components a subject, predicate and object that
describe a set of data such as We have shoes . The subject is We , the predicate is have and the
object is shoes . Triples provide an easy and flexible way of modeling data that is similar to how the
human brain functions. Triples have a semantic structure that can easily represent connections
between structured data and free flowing text. Triples form interconnected data networks (graphs),
which are easy to read and can represent complex data structures.
Information is stored in a triplestore and retrieved using a database query language called SPARQL.
SPARQL is a query language for RDF data. It is a basic method for querying remote databases
over HTTP. SPARQL can perform graph pattern matching queries and allows users to specify types
of accessibility and navigational queries (the shortest distance between two nodes or how two
nodes are connected) in triplestores. SPARQL generates powerful queries and reasons intuitively on
the data in a triplestore. This also allows computers to reason intuitively on data.
The information in triplestores can be stored, accessed and manipulated much easier versus using a
relational database exponentially expanding data management and storage

Essay on Greek Mythology and Hercules
Capturing the Herculean Hero Ancient Greek and Roman mythology are polytheistic religions that
emerged in Western Europe thousands of years ago. Both cultures believe in mostly the same gods
and demigods, also known as half gods, but have different names to designate them. Perhaps the
most famous demigod known most notably for his superhuman strength is Hercules, the Roman
name for the Greek demigod Heracles. The superman like figure is even more popular in mythology
than certain gods and goddesses. Over time, artists and sculptors have attempted to depict Hercules
through different types of material and physical poses. Although each depiction has its own
individuality in the material by which it was created and the stance the demigod... Show more

He also draws the viewer s eye to Hercules in particular by using chiaroscuro (Sporre 60) and
contrasting light and shade. The artist highlights the hero with light colors for a skin tone and
engulfing him with dark and gloomy colors. One of the most intriguing features of this piece of
work is the muscle definition in Hercules s body and Zurbaran s ability to capture the demigod
in motion. Hercules is shown as an extremely toned tall, young man with a dark beard and thick
hair. By the creases in his leg muscles, Hercules is sent in motion and it is evident that the hero
is using all his might to pull the beast towards him in order to control him. Thousands of years
ago, before artists work fell into the category and style of art that existed during their time period,
art was portrayed mostly through carved slabs or marble or stone. Art has existed since years
before the Common Era and date all the way back to prehistory. It has helped historians and
scientists understand the lifestyles in which past civilizations had followed. In Ancient Rome and
Greece, for example, many artists sculpted religious figures in accordance to their polytheistic,
mythological beliefs. Almost every artist, if not all, of these sculptures remains unknown to this day
but their work lives on to inspire others. One work in particular that

Witchcraft Hysteria In The 17th Century
With Europe entering the 17th century, its citizens were still undergoing the prosperity that
coincided with the emergence of the Renaissance. Economic growth, newly structured capitalistic
movements as well as trans Atlantic expansion, became the successes of Europe and, as a result,
its citizens overcame the overwhelming death toll (due to previous wars and the notorious Black
Plague ). This led to an explicit reevaluation of life, the importance of religion, and prospects of
power which all soared to an all time high. One example of a reevaluation of the prospects of
power would be the decrees and regulations undertaken by monarchs of the 17th century in response
to the Church. Often times, secular rulers would amass power and favorability... Show more content

Women have been customarily subjugated to household labor without opportunities for
advancement for roles within the societies they live in. Unfortunately, within the 17th century, little
to no progression has come about in response to the injustice placed upon the vast majority of
women living in England. With England having endured the brunt of failures at the hands of
absolute monarchs, opposing religions taking the thrones periodically (Anglican to Puritan to
Anglican); leading towards instability for the overwhelmingly diversified Protest communities, a
growing need to seek out scapegoats for such atrocities have lead the overarching communities of
England to target impoverished, and often times, elderly women to the point of widespread
persecutions. The witch hunt that sprang in the 17th century found easy footing with an already
conservative religious government seeking out dissenters of the faith to strengthen their position in
power. The Anglican government felt it was their obligation to institute such movements of
persecutions in order to rally its people behind a unified front of faith as well as diminishing the

The Biological and Psychological Drives Behind...
Most of us like to think that we are reasonable, rational, and independent thinkers and actors. Thus,
we believe that we have a good enough reason for our choices. However, we often erroneously buy
products succumbing to strange compulsion. It is a power of consumerism. The term consumerism
is defined as the tendency of people to identify strongly with products they consume, particularly of
name brands and status enhancing appeal. Then, how does the powerof consumerismwin over our
rationality? In this situation, we pretend to regard the primary cause of the impulse consumerism is
the commercial seductions. The truth, however, is that the shopping indulgences does not originate
from a manipulation of the commercial advertisements, but... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many people think what you own is who you are; unless people think in this way, you might
believe that people would think and judge you in this way. From this displaying conception,
many people consume to show off their products and regard as if it can indirectly show their
wealth. Moreover, this way of thinking leads to a more is better attitude, the fundamental of
materialism. These people are likely to show off their expensive clothing, jewelry, or cars and in
doing so believing it can make an impression on people, She/he is rich . This showing off
behavior is originated from gaining acceptance by others and is resulted as a fascination for
buying objects that are famously branded. Appearances and looks are psychologically placed in
people s mind as important and valuable to be an attention getter. Extremely, there are some
people who believe they must spend money to appear good even if they had to starve to death
or live in poverty. Those who feel insecure and stress from workplace, school, family and friends
also drift toward materialism as a refreshing measure. Tim Kasser, an author of The High Price of
Materialism, said that when they are under stress, they get to believe shopping makes them feel
better. For some people, shopping can be a major stress reliever, and spending money can boost a

Christopher Columbus Motives
In 1492, Columbus sailed the ocean blue. This phrase is perhaps one of the most well known
historical allusions in today s age. Everyone knows the concept, but no one knows the motives
behind the expedition. No one ever asks themselves deeply on why Christopher Columbus was
able to make the voyage in the first place. The answer is always by the book, which is He
recieved funding by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Not a single person asks themselves on
why he was chosen specifically to go on this voyage. That is why I am writing this paper. I will
give the motives that drove this expedition. Before a proper explanation can be given, there must
be a background to give the reader a brief glimpse of who the man Columbus was. Columbus was
born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Columbus also was the child of a pair of two wool merchants.
Columbus, during his early years worked on a merchant ship. Afterwards, Columbus sought out a
higher education in the fields of cartography, navigation, and astronomy. These topics that he
learned later would fuel his ambition for exploration . After receiving permission to explore, he
began his journey for fame and gold. Initially, Columbus planned to sail from more foreign ports
such as England and Portugal, but was denied. Then, he sought patronage from Spain, who had an
interest in his plan. One motive of the spaniards was to find a quicker, more free route to India.
This was their main goal. However, the Spaniards did not want to lose

Health And Safety Policies And Procedures
When we work with children, our career is likely to involve close working with other agencies.
Multi agency working is an effective way of supporting children and families with additional
needs. Multi agency working brings together practitioners from different areas and professions
within the workforce to provide integrated support to children and their families, for example a
team around the child . It is an effective way of supporting children with additional needs and
helping to secure real improvements in their life outcomes the way different professionals work
together in the early years to promote health and safety. You must evaluate the various strategies
that are used as well as the effectiveness of the health and safety policies and procedures. This
means to work hand in hand with different organisations, professional, colleagues, parent and
specialist whereby information sharing is being communicated to each other in order to
communicate assessment intervention, a follow up and that communication should be two ways.
This can be classed as different organisation working together to safeguard children and young
persons and most of these organisations are funded bodies and businesses .This also means that
we need to be established and abide with all the guidelines and to work within the law especially
when it regards with children and young person. Common barriers for integrated working and multi

How Did Muhammad Ali Influence On African American Society
Imagine being an African American person living in a world of segregation but he still has a
dream, a dream to become a boxer in a league predominantly white and being looked down on
because of his skin color. Segregation in the 1900 s was cruel and divided because After the Civil
War, millions of enslaved African Americans hoped to join the larger society as equal citizens but
unfortunately were not embraced as equals by much of white America (History Staff). Nearly 100
years after the Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans in southern states still lived in an
unequal world of segregation.

What Is The Paradoxical Relationship Between The Health...
I plan to study the paradoxical relationship between the health benefits of safe cycling infrastructure
and the claim that it promotes gentrification and drives the communities it is intended to serve
further into the peripheries of cycling friendly cities. In November 2016, Austin voters passed
Proposition I, which granted $137 million dollars to improve sidewalks and urban pathways1.
Among opponents of improving cycling infrastructure in East Austin, many pointed out that bicycle
lanes would increase the growing pressures of gentrification on the lower income members of the
community. This fear accompanied the claim that minorities and lower income residents of East
Austin do not use bicycles for transportation, and that the lanes would... Show more content on

I am personally interested in this topic because I believe that access to environments that promote
healthy lifestyles should not be restricted to the wealthy, and that city governments should
concentrate on increasing bike ability and walkability in lower income neighborhoods. Several
studies have shown replacing car travel with cycling and walking decreases obesity and increases
overall health5, and one study in Kansas even showed a significant decrease in employee healthcare
costs following investments in local cycling programs3. However, before interest groups launch
advocacy and infrastructure expansion, it is important that they understand the effects of that
expansion, and integrate consideration for future housing affordability into their plans.
Population (Inclusion/ Exclusion Criteria)
Through my capstone research, I hope to shed light on the three way relationship between bicycle
lanes, community health, and gentrification. To do this, I plan to find primary research that helps
me answer the following questions.
1.How does the addition of bicycle lanes affect community economics and growth?
2.Has research shown a correlation between the addition of bicycle lanes and gentrification?
3.How does bicycle lane availability differ in low income and high income

on the morning of the first day, Lily s observations showed that she was: tachycardic, hypotensive,
tachypnoeaic, had an oxygen saturation level of 88% and was becoming confused and drowsy. It
became apparent that Lily had become hypovolaemic. The hypovolaemic shock seen in this patient

Lily had only recently began dialysis treatment, and her unwillingness to proceed with treatment
would have resulted in her care becoming palliative, something the healthcare professional did not
think was suitable at this point in her illness trajectory. Tait (2012) points out that a critically ill
patient experiences not only physiological trauma, but also psychological trauma. This
psychological trauma that can be experienced after critical care has been addressed by the National
Outreach Forum (2003) who suggested that services should be developed to address the
implications of critical illness. Samuelson (2011) suggests that any negative emotions associated
with critical care can be counterbalanced with memories that reinforce safety, control and trust. This
is a useful point to consider in Lily case, who fortunately had the time to talk through her worries
concerning continual dialysis treatment with the staff on the ward, who were able to convince her
she was in the safest possible hands and that continuing her dialysis treatment would be the best
option.
The psychosocial impact of this event and its repercussions surrounding Lily unwillingness to
continue her dialysis treatment is a key aspect to consider when looking at involving Lily in the
decision making process. The DOH document No decision about me, without me (2012)

Essay on Harry Potter
Running Head: Concepts of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer s stone
Within the story of Harry Potter there are many concepts to be noted. This book is interesting and
very different from any other book. These many concepts will tell you about some of these strange
things that goes on.
Shortly after Harry was born a villain called Voldermont killed his parents. Somehow Harry did not
die from Voldermont, but not only did he live, he almost killed this great dart magician. As the only
survivor, a giant called Hagrid took him to his Auntand Uncle Dursleys house and left them on the
doorstep with a note. Ever since that day, he has been living in a blended family. That is a family...

By definition Harry had an ascribed status in his life. Ever since he was a little boy and lived
through one of the best dark magicians magic, he was known as the boy who lived. Everyone
knew who he was. When he went to dragon alley with Hagrid, at school, everybody whispered
about him as he passed in the hallways.
As soon as Harry passed through that gate of nine and three quarters he entered a kind of total
institution. A place where he was cut off from the society that he knows and would then be
controlled by the officials, or a principal and teachers. This happens because he can t really go
back home with out regretting it and when he gets there like always the principal and teachers
basically control you anyway.
The looking glass self happens when our self develops by internalizing others reactions from
what we say or others say. A good example of this is when everyone is on the train riding to
Hogwarts. Harry was talking to one of his friends and was talking about Voldermont. Every time
he said that name, his friend told him that he shouldn t use that name and just say you know who.
Harry learned this fast because every time he d say it, his friend would either tell him or get a
scared look on his face.
When Harry arrives he is a hero to almost everyone before he even knows who they are. Now he

Biography of Samuel F.B. Morse Essay

also a painter that did works such as The Chapel of the Virgin at Subiaco and The Gallery of the

Samuel Morse ran into problems during the development of the telegraph machine, the telegraph
machine could only transmit information for a little bit more than a few hundred yards due to
the loss of current over long distances. Not until Professor Leonard Gale, of New York
University, that helped improved Morse s design that used superior batteries and electromagnets
that enabled it to transfer currents over great distances. After the help of Gale, Samuel Morse
had perfected his telegraph; it was able to send signals over great distances. Although his
Journey wasn t over, he now had to send his work to Washington where he awaited to be
approved by Congress. He attended both sessions of Congress, from 1837 to 1838 and another
one in 1842 to 1843. During the last day of the session, which was March 3, 1843, he spent the
whole day and part of the evening in the Senate chamber, anxiously watching the progress of the
passing of the various bills (Morse) to watch the bill get passed, he was awarded $30,000 to set
up the very first telegraph machine from Washington to Baltimore. His first telegraph machine was
made from household instruments that consisted of an old picture or canvas frame fastened to a

the electro magnet connected with the positive and negative poles of the battery and terminating
the mercury cups (Morse). His apparatus was so crude

Taking a Look at Amphotecering B (AmB)
Amphotericin B (AmB), a polyene macrolide antibiotic, is highly effective against various
Leishmania species and is currently recommended as first line treatment for the visceral form (Dea
Ayuela et al., 2004). Amphoteric nature of AmB contributed by its hydrophobic (the polyene
hydrocarbon chain) and hydrophilic (the polyhydroxyl chain) domains, is responsible for poor
aqueous and organic solubility, and intercalation into cell membranes to elicit drug s
pharmacological effects (Milhaud et al., 2002). To sort out insolubility and non absorbability
problems conventional AmB formulation FungizoneВ® (a complex with bile salt deoxycholate)
is available. However, toxic side effects, in particular, hemotoxicity and azotemia which occurs in
around 80% cases and renal tubular damage at therapeutic doses have often limited its clinical
applications (Wasko et al., 2012). The appropriate delivery system would have an unique
advantage in overcoming toxic manifestations on normal body functions caused by direct exposure
of the drug and to improve its therapeutic efficacy. It was thought that lipid based formulations
could be the best approach where association of the drug within the lipid molecules would protect
the vital organs from direct exposure of the drug. In some earlier reports, it was claimed that
liposomal carriers were much less toxic than FungizoneВ® which opened the gate for development
of AmB liposomal formulations (Larabi et al., 2004). This ultimately resulted in three

Characteristics Of The Romantic Era
One must be true to themselves, to obtain human happiness. The Romantic era was a period that
expressed the importance of breaking away from society, and finding one s inner love. This period
dates during the years of 1790 1900 s. Its key characteristics included emotion, love, and
imagination. Until this point, truth was defined by the Neoclassicists as something transmitted by a
tradition derived from the philosophy, art, and literature of the Greek and Romans. In contrast, the
Romantics rejected these assumptions and emphasized the uniqueness of the individual because all
human beings are not made of the same stuff. It s safe to say, individualism and nature were the top
values to obtain human happiness during the Romanticismera.
Before the Romantic era, society played a huge role in how individuals were accepted, viewed,
and should construct themselves. Decisions were made by society and society inputted
restraints of social institutions. Everything was viewed in a mechanistic, perfectionist aspect. In
reality, life is imperfect, wild, and uncontrollable. The Romantic era was a time that one focused
on self instead of society s views. This period made it feasible to break away from social
restraints to express your own human values. Value is defined as things you care about and was
expressed using feelings. You owned the authority to find feeling in life and emotion. Freedom
was achievable and life became a reality because one was viewed as an individual instead of a
majority.
Nature is a major factor of the Romanticism era. The Romanticism era changed the mechanized
world into the natural world. Before this period, salvation was found through the heaven, a social
institute. One had to have faith using a philosophic mind to achieve salvation. In contrast, the
Romantics state that nature is not salvation, but instead an aspect used to achieve salvation by
being present in nature. Life consist of responding to nature by imagining. Soon as you stop
imagining, salvation is lost. Life is a non rational process and one never knows where it ll go.
Being present is what contributes to human happiness and one s values.

with standard features, such as power windows, automatic gearbox and electronic stability program
(Handmer, 2014; Knight, 2012). High end automobiles can be bought with intelligent features like
automatic start stop mechanism enhanced cruise control, active lane assistance and self parking
technology (Handmer, 2014; Knight 2014). These innovations make driving more comfortable, but
still require human interaction (Knight, 2012). However, todays connected cars and increasing
technological progress pave the way for fully autonomous vehicles (Handmer, 2014).... Show more

However, before driverless vehicles enter the market three main challenges relating to technology,
legal and consumers lie ahead (IHS Automotive, 2014). Software reliability and cyber security
must be guaranteed (Kelly CNN, 2014), a legal framework for self driving vehicles regarding
insurance and liability has to be established (Kelly CNN, 2014) and consumers must be convinced
to accept driverless vehicles (IHS Automotive, 2014). Consumers may question, whether driverless
driving features will offer an overall better option than driving themselves. Taking into account that
failure of consumer acceptance entails considerable costs to companies (Chiesa Frattini, 2011). It is
essential for organizations to understand under which circumstances customers accept autonomous
cars. Acceptance and future use of new technologies are frequently subject to tradeoffs between
uncertain benefits and costs of adopting the new invention (Venkatesh, Morris, Davis, Davis,
2003). Several studies have researched the acceptance of driver assistant systems (DAS) (Adell,
2009; Arndt, 2004; Arndt Engeln, 2008; Huth Gelau, 2013). However, so far no studies have
explored users acceptance of fully autonomous driving

Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System And Child Health
Executive Summary This research paper was written to provide the outlook of the opinions on
the most predominant behavioral health issues in the local community, as well as the approach in
which the organizations are to work together to address those behavioral health issues in the local
community. The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment (CDPHE) used the
Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System and Child Health Survey in order to determine
information in regards to those residents that are 18 and older. The Behavioral Risk Factor
Surveillance System and Child Health Survey is a federally funded random telephone survey of
Colorado residents. Information is gathered on a variety of health behaviors, conditions and
preventative health practices (State of Colorado, 2016). The University of Colorado Hospital is
also the medical campus for the state of Colorado. Due to the early donations from businessman
Philip Anchutz, the earliest phases of the development for the campus allowed the vision for the
new medical campus to flourish. In the start their vision statement in their master plan was
overarching, with it being seven paragraphs long, but it made for planning out the vision
statements for each year after easier with a stable foothold on what was required. While the
University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus contains multiple different healths science
related schools and colleges. Located on a portion of what use to be Fizsimons Army Medical center

Analysis Of The Bhagavad Gita The Two Selves Essay
Ethic in the Bhagavad Gita: The Two Selves
Coming from Mahabharata, the ancient Indian epic, Bhagavad Gita is the conversation between
Krishna and Arjuna, as Arjuna is hesitatant about the fighting in a war where hundreds and
thousands people would die. His enemies are also his brothers and teachers. Krishna explains to him
about the reasons why the war is necessary. The ideas that are taught by Krishna provides a very
different point of views on ethics, unlike the Yoga set forth by Patanjali, or the precepts of
Buddhism, the act of killing in a war is encouraged to Arjuna and even not considered as a sin of
his. The self that are being destroyed in the war is the worldly self and the Atman of them will
be set free and cleansed from the sinful mortal body. The reason for Arjuna s hesitation in the
first place is that the war is fought between his cousins; the two sides have his brothers, relatives
and teachers. In the enemy team, there are of course, the people he respects and people he
despites. The cause of the war, too, Arjuna is questioning whether their fought over the throne is
worth the epic war that is going to happen. The war as grand as this, there s going to be loss of
lives, those of the soldiers and the civilians. All these bloods, kills, Arjuna is worried if he will
carry the sins to the lives lost in this war. Arjuna considers the situation from an ethical point of
view that is concerned with the welfare of the others: be kind and merciful, do not

The Ethical Obligation Of Witness
There is something fundamental about our humanity that is irrevocably lost when these individuals
perish unheard and these stories fade away unheeded. This tragic alternative disrespects all that is
sacrificed when individuals bear witness to war, and it overlooks all that can be gained when we
bear witness to their stories. The Ethical Obligation to Witness Ideas from the French philosopher
Emmanuel Levinas provide an ethical account of human interaction that is instrumental in
elucidating the importance of bearing witness. In a text, entitled Totality and Infinity: An Essay on
Exteriority , written in 1961, he asserts that individuals have an ethical obligation when interacting
with one another. Levinas especially emphasizes the power... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Not only are nurses responsible for the physical health of their patients, but they are burdened
with an unwritten an obligation to bettering the emotional health of their patients. This is an
incredible and oftentimes overwhelming role that they are asked to play. It is suggested that
there is a moral necessity for a creation of space, and education to allow nurses to carry out this
moral duty of bearing witness to suffering, disorder, disease, grief, joy, fear and vulnerability with
others (Naef, 2006). Bearing Witness to Lived Trauma: When an individual has lived through a
trauma, it is obvious that there is no way to alter the traumatic actions of the past, however, there
is a possibility of mitigating the mental burden that the past plays in the everyday life of the
victim. Listening to the story of another allows listeners to better understand, and therefore better
serve the needs of the victims. In addition, speaking their story out loud can allow victims to bring
forth an experience that has been haunting them in a way that mitigate s the amplification of
emotion that can happen when a story is confined to the space of one s own mind. As the story
transitions from taking sole residence in the memory of an individual to being shared with others,
the survivor is sometime alleviated from a portion of the anxiety resulting from the trauma, even if
only in a small way. There is a cultural desire to fit within the narrative of valid work that

My Middle School
Going into my middle school years I was so scared of what was to come. People would tell me
stories of bullies and lots of homework, and the book Middle School: The Worst Years of My Life
didn t really help with my anxiousness. When August 18th, 2014 came around all the frightening
tales people told me went away. My middle schoolyears ended up being a time where I made new
friends, went on amazing trips, and learned fascinating things. My trip to Spain was full of culture
I had never experienced and my cruise was spectacular with sights of beaches and landmarks that
were beautiful.
Spain had always been on my bucket list to visit ever since I was little and saw pictures of the
country s beautiful architecture. One month before spring break my mom surprised me with tickets
to Madrid and Barcelona! I was so ecstatic, I had to start getting prepared right away. The time
eventually came and there I was standing in the Madrid airport after 8hours of being confined in
an airplane seat. The culture was already around my mom and I as we exited the airport. Spanish
music was booming everywhere, colorful buildings, and city lights made our drive to the hotel a
spectacular show.
Throughout our stay in Madrid my mom and I tasted amazing cuisine from restaurants and the
market of San Miguel. The market was full of different meats, fish, vegetables, exotic drinks, and
tapas, which are small dishes. The market was so crowed with people you couldn t find a place to

Global Marketing Strategies
Two opposite viewpoints for developing global marketing strategy are commonly expounded.
According to one school of thought, marketing is an inherently local problem. Due to cultural and
other differences among countries, marketing programs should be tailor made for each country. The
opposing view treats marketingas know how that can be transferred from country to country. It has
been argued that the worldwide marketplace has become so homogenized that multinational
corporations can market standardized products and services all over the world with identical
strategies, thus lowering their costs and earning higher margins.
Localized Strategy The proponents of localized marketing strategies support their viewpoint based
on four ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
NestlГ©, for example, achieved more than a 60 percent market share in the instant coffee market in
Japan but less than 30 percent in the United States. NestlГ© had to contend with two strong
domestic competitors in the United States, namely General Foods, which markets Maxwell House
and other brands, and more recently Procter Gamble, which markets Folgers and High Point.
NestlГ© faced relatively weak domestic competitors in Japan. IBM, which is the leading computer
company in the world, slipped to third place in the Japanese market behind Fujitsu Ltd. and NEC
Corporation in terms of total revenue. NestlГ© and IBM must reflect differences in their
competitive environments in such marketing choices as pricing, sales force behavior, and
advertising.
Standardized Strategy In contrast to the view that marketing strategies must be localized, many
scholars and practitioners argue that significant benefits can be achieved through standardization of
marketing strategies on a global basis. As a matter of fact, some people recommend an extreme
strategy: offering identical products at identical prices through identical distribution channels and
supporting these identical products by identical sales and promotional programs throughout the
world. Levitt asserts that commercially, nothing confirms this as much as the success of McDonald
s from the Champs Elysees to the Ginza, of

Health Policy Issues
Probably the most media related topic of health policy issue in the forefront today is the current
Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA). Was the healthcare act worth the cost to the
country? According to the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and Joint Committee on Taxation
(JCT), it estimated that the insurance coverage provisions of the PPACA will have a net cost of
just under $1.1 trillion over the 2012 2021 periods. (Becker et al., 2014) The current United States
federal debt is the highest it has ever been since WWII and according to the CBO, if the current
laws or policies remain unchanged, the debt is expected to grow to 150 percent of gross domestic
product by 2047. (Congressional Budget Outlook, 2017)

According to the report by the CBO the net effect of repealing the ACA on the public would be

Nursing Organizational Stand
It is a long standing view that the American Nursing Association (ANA) is the firm supporter for
quality health care access for all. ANA s Principles for Health System Transformation 2016 outlined
the association s stance on the current state of affairs regarding the ACA. The association s current
principles which remain at the front of the issue regarding the health care reform remain: access to
all, efficient optimization of community services, support for those who cannot afford care, and
sufficient support for the education of health care providers. (ANA, 2016)
Policy Options
Many opinions are presented in how best to address the issue of universal health care for the
American public: keeping the current system, changing the current system, repealing the ACA, or
adopting another system altogether. Considering the cost to Americans associated with the federal
deficit, changing, repealing, or maintaining the current ACA does not address or fix the deficit.
Repealing the current system, above all else, places many Americans without the health care they
need and deserve as a basic right. One of the most appealing options is adopting the same universal
coverage offered in Canada: a single payer system. The

The American Of Latin America
In the 1920s and 1930s intellectuals and statesmen in Latin America began to adopt ideologies of
race mixture in an effort to advance nation building projects based on notions of inclusion and
racial equality. These notions which where said to promote racial inclusivity included mestizaje.
The ideology of mestizaje often times enabled exclusion through racial terms and marginalization.
In order to grasp how such an ideology has created a paradoxical and contradictory outcome
politically, economically, and socially for black communities in Latin Americaone must draw from
real world examples. Two examples of Latin American countries that have experienced
marginalization of their black communities are Columbia and Mexico. Before one can enter a
conversation on the process through which black communities are marginalized in Latin America it
is essential to define a few terms. First one must define what Latin America encompasses. Latin
America s dictionary definition is that it is the part of the American Continents South of the United
Statesin which Spanish, Portuguese, or French is officially spoken. However, Latin America also
has an ideological meaning that was defined in lecture by Professor Campos as as an idea thus
signified a restoration of western civilization in the Americas. The next term that one must define is
mestizaje is ideologies of national identity that celebrated race mixture as an important component
of regional and national culture. Race is a way to

Donald Trump Persuasive Speech
If you told me in 2002 that 15 years later, Donald Trump would be our President, Kid Rock would
be running for Senate, and Eminem would become a celebrity spokesperson for human rights, I
would have laughed you out of the room. This sounds more like content for a Saturday Night Live
skit than reality. But here we are; truth really is stranger than fiction.
A few days ago, well known rapper Eminem (Marshall Mathers) voiced some rage towards Donald
Trump. He did so in the form of a 4.5 minute freestyle rap called The Storm which aired on the
BET Hip Hop Awards. If you are familiar with Eminem, it won t surprise you that there is a fair
amount of vulgarity and graphic imagery in the video. So, proceed with caution to the link above.
While Mr. Mathers covers a bit of ground in his video, I want to focus on the major reoccurring
theme of the video: racism. Despite its popularity, The Storm does more harm than good towards
resolving problems of racism in our country.
In some of the most vitriolic lines, Eminem blasts President Trump as a racist 94 year old
grandpa . Using almost battle like language, he demands his fans to decide who you like more
Eminem or President Trump. Unsure what to think? Well, he speaks directly to the undecided
crowd: if you can t decide who you like more and you re split on who you should stand beside, I ll
do it for it for you with this.
He then makes an obscene gesture towards the camera.
The Storm video is unfair to Trump, his supporters,

Socratic Reflective Essay
As I timidly shuffled across the noisy fourth grade classroom and into an empty seat, all motion
and sound ceased as everyone stretched their necks for a quick glimpse of the new kid. The
teacher, Mrs. Leach, surprised by my abrupt arrival, gestured for me to stand up and introduce
myself to the class. By this point, my cheeks were already as red as a beet and standing up in
front of 29 strangers only made me feel naked as a newborn. I tried to speak in complete
sentences, but only managed to squeeze out a mere Hi : my English wasn t exactly good back

The curriculum was harder and the Socratic seminars we held were even more challenging.
Through a process of listening and speaking, Socratic seminars aimed to encourage discussions

was intended to be an innovative method of learning was rather a direct exploit of my greatest
weakness: talking in front of people. I mean I used to break out in a cold sweat when the teacher
picked on me to answer questions and my Chinese accent will automatically reappear as soon as I

place to discuss without any restrictions; it offered a place to listen and take on the opinions of
others; and it offered a place where my opinions were finally appreciated! No longer did I feel as if
I was left out of conversations and these seemingly small discussions acted as springboards for me
to start expanding my social circle. I simply wasn t afraid of socializing

List Other Types Of Attacks
3.5Other Types of Attacks Since the inception of IEEE 802.11i in 2004, users and IT
administrators have been able to improve the security of their wireless networks by taking
advantage of protocols like CCMP, which is an algorithm designed to provide authentication and

by the Counter Mode component of CCMP. The CBC MAC mode component is what provides the
authentication mechanism. Although the security provided by 802.11i is a significant
improvement to 802.11 networks, the security only applies to the data frames and does not provide

In a nutshell, the OSI model is divided into seven layers that are responsible for moving data up
and down the stack; from the user, all the way down to the physical layer where the cables reside
and then back up again. Each layer uses its own protocols and is responsible for carrying out its
assigned function. These layers include the Application Layer (layer 7), Presentation Layer
(layer 6), Session Layer (layer 5), Transport Layer (layer 4), Network Layer (layer 3), Data Link
Layer (layer 2) and the Physical Layer (layer 1). See Figure 3 3 for illustration of OSI model.
Although there are multiple layers in the OSI model an attacker can choose to exploit, the
subsequent section will focus its attention on the Application Layer, since this layer is most often
neglected when it comes to security. Additionally, it s the most difficult layer to defend.
3.5.1Application Layer Attacks As you can see from the image above (Figure 3 3), Layer 7 is the
Application Layer; the place where data both originates and returns. This is also the layer where
the user is directly interfacing with an application, such as a web page. An attack against this layer
is generally intended to disrupt certain components of an application. Thus, Application Layer
attacks are also referred to

The Importance Of Workplace Diversity
Workplace diversity is when there is diverse culture of individuals in the workplace. It is when
there is a value placed on the variety of ideas, race, ethnicities, religion, gender, sexuality and
orientation, which is flourishing in an environment. Depending on your employer and workplace,
workplace diversitycan vary based off several different factors. Usually, there is a preferential
standpoint taken on the matter and it can be either display a high or a low context cultureof
diversity. According to Mason (2013) Workforce diversity has been described as a double edged
sword; it has the potential for positive and negative outcomes (p.659). Workplace diversity is
important in a business setting because it carries forward a combination of different types of
people to worktogether in unity, encourages uniqueness, innovative, creative approaches, and
supports interesting divergent ideas to accomplish tasks or goals.
Benefits of a high workplace diversity environment is it not being stuck to conformity in group
thinking, or being narrow minded with similar thoughts and having preference to only be around
people who think like you do which is known as the diversity paradox . According to a quote
stated from Friedrich Nietzsche, Hackett (2014) The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct
him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently (p. 415).
Instead, it reiterates the importance of having a diverse workplace because it constructs better
ideas, coming from different minds, and build upon each other through brainstorming. However, a
poor workplace diversity can also adversely affect one s motivation, which leads to overall job
dissatisfaction and demotivation. When there is poor workplace diversity, you can see less
communication barriers and cultural resistance, but it also makes it harder for individuals to get
used to working with others that aren t the same as them. This can become a form of adversity for
businesses if their employees cannot develop a strong skill set to adapt with not only coworkers but
also customers in the environment. Therefore, better communication and interaction skills are
essential to promoting a business and making it successful.

The Diagram Above Shows Recreation, Sports, Tourism, And...
The diagram above shows recreation, leisure, sports, tourism, and parks as being interconnected,
with each possibly depending on each other for success. Recreation refers to an activity that in
individual participates in with a structured timeframe (Introduction, 2013, p. 4). Leisure has
multiple meanings, one being Unobligated time, state of being, and consumption patterns, in
addition to occurring outside of working life (Introduction, 2013, p. 4). Sport occurs during leisure
time, either as an active participant or as a spectator. Tourism refers to travel, particularly away
from home for a specific period of time. Parks are protected lands that are available for the
utilization of the public. Again, the diagram shows how each of these concepts may overlap. Yet,
even though these concepts can connect and overlap they can also exist individually.
The parks offer a place for leisure, recreation, sport, and tourism to take place. Some travel for the
sole purpose of touring our country s national parks and monuments during their leisure time. They
may choose this recreational activity to improve overall health and wellbeing, while also expanding
personal awareness and appreciation for our preserved land. Urban parks have been part of the

when they have an accident or when you have potential new clients to inform them on how

repairs. The advantage of keeping everything in house would be cost effective because the
money is not switching hands instead it is paying for a service to repair the customer s vehicle.
There would not be any ideas on how to scam the insurance company on ways to make the total

the insurance business in regards to premiums and that means higher employment rates therefor
increase in chances of accidents which leads to increase in collision repairs and claims. As

Building Design of the Engineering and Computing Builiding...
Introduction
As an aspiring Architectural Technologist I will be expected to possess a variety of skills which are
valuable for any Architectural Technologist position. I will be studying and evaluating a building
design of the Engineering and Computing Building, Coventry. I am to assess the structure,
identifying, why the building was designed in the way it was, the impact, challenges and purposes.
This will allow me to understand the integration of architectural and structural design.
1.1Design philosophy and aesthetics
The Engineering and Computing Building (ECB) was designed by Arup Associates and built by
main contractor Vinci. In designing this building Arup Associates were trying to create a
sustainable postmodern building, which would become a flagship for the university and a
landmark in the centre of the city. Designed to meet the university s long term needs in terms of
improving the student learning experience, using the building as a learning tool in itself.
The 15,000mВІ building is enclosed in a square, split into two L shaped blocks. Linked together by
a glazed entrance at the corner and separated by a large gap on the opposite corner.
The L block facing the south and west has been configured as the Nature block. This four storey
Nature wing features a green and blue roof planted with foliage, providing a variety of habitats to
encourage the local wildlife. Well known to attract insects that pipistrelle bats are known to prefer.

The French Food Waste Bill Essay
Trevino and Nelson define an ethical dilemma as a situation where two or more right values are
in conflict (p. 39). When differing opinions from two separate parties meet often solutions can
only benefit one group, where both cannot be satisfied. A relevant business story with an ethical
dilemma is the french food waste bill, that has come into law earlier this year. This is an
illustration of how one ethical value has overcome another in order for government to deal with
the national food waste. In this report we will be analysing the decisions and actions of the main
actors Arash Derambarsh and Guillaume Garot and how their ethical view s affected the
government s actions on edible food waste. In the early 2000 s, Derambarsh began his law
degree and found it increasingly difficult to feed himself and it was very common for students
who had only four hundred euros a month after rent to find themselves hungry. 2010, Derambarsh
started to grow awareness towards hunger in France, so he started campaigning against the
wastage of food in his local area (Froelich, 2015). He now represents the Paris Commune of
Courbevoie and believes that edible food being wasted is, scandalous and absurd , when there are
still hungry citizens in France needing this such as the homeless, poor and unemployed (Froelich,
2015). Derambarsh often was insulted and abused for having an idealistic mindset over this ethical
dilemma. Although his main focus was helping the people, because

Hopelessness And Despair In Cynthia Ozick s The Shawl
Cynthia Ozick s story The Shawl is told in a way were the readers feel hopelessness and despair.
The characters are put in a situation so hopeless there s no way that they can escape. This text at
first begins with confusion, however as you read more you start to put the pieces to gether like a
puzzle. Magda the only character who thrives in the story, and still she becomes a victim of the
harsh environment around her. At it s core this text tells of how you can be thrown in an
concentration camp, treated as a lower human being, just because your not the perfect white color,
and starved to near death, but no amount of oppression could drain the humanity you have inside.
Although Stella is a counter to this because she is bitter, and envious

Leon Trotsky s Contribution to the Success of the Bolsheviks Up To 1922
In this essay I will explain Leon Trotsky s contribution to the success of the Bolsheviks. I will
consider a number of reasons including his organisation of the revolution, his actions on the 6th 8th
November 1917, public speaking, The Red Army civil war, and the Kronstadt uprising. I will finish
with a clear, concise, conclusion.
Leon Trotsky was born in 1879 in a remote part of southern Ukraine. He was the son of a Jewish
farmer and was educated ant Odessa University. He became very interested in the writings of Karl
Marx, as a result he spent long times in exile. Trotsky was a first a Menshevik and did not join the

On the evening of 6th November 1917, Trotsky went to the Peter and Paul Fortress, this housed the
majority of Russian arms, it is located on an island in the middle of the river Neva in Petrograd, he
bribed the troops guarding the fortress and his troops were given access to powerful munitions.
Later that night the Revolution began. The primary objectives were to take command of railway
stations, post offices, telephone centres, banks, bridges, and the Engineers Palace (the military
headquarters). This objective continued into the morning of the 7th, and on the evening of the 7th
November 1917 Trotsky and his Red Guard stormed the Winter Palace and arrested the ministers of
the provisional government. On the 8th November, an announcement was made that the provisional
government had been overthrown. This helped the Bolsheviks because the organisation skills
Trotsky supplied meant the Bolsheviks had support and weapons, if it hadn t been for him, the
Bolsheviks may never have overthrown the government. It also meant everything was perfectly set
up for the Revolution
Trotsky was a skilled public speaker who managed to inspire his listeners to support him and his
party. His speeches were inspirational to everyone who listened and it made many change their
ideas about how Russia should be governed. He made his speeches with skill and brilliance . An

Legislative History Of Tax Exemption Essay
Some legislative history to tax exemption organizations began between 1894 and 1969, the
development of legislation led the structure of the current tax exemptions granted to charitable and
voluntary sectors outlined in the United States Tax Code. The early tax regulations established
around three major principles. First, organizations operating for charitable purposes were granted
exemptions from Federal income tax. Second, charitable organizations were required to be free of
private inurement. Third, an income tax deduction for contributions was developed and designed to
encourage charitable giving for organizations. The Wilson Gorham Tariff Act of 1884 provided an
exemption for corporations, companies, or associations organized and conducted solely for
charitable, religious, or educational purposes, including fraternal beneficiary associations.
Ultimately this Act became famous for income tax provisions later found unconstitutional by the
Supreme Court. The Underwood Tariff Act of 1913 established an income tax system with tax
exemptions for certain organizations, most particularly for the Chamber of Commerce. The
Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Senate Finance Committee during its deliberations
because it was anxious that the existing tax exemptions would not protect nonprofit business
groups. This Act also included an exemption for organizations dedicated to social welfare, the
forerunner to today s IRC 501(c)(4). Later, the Revenue Act of 1943 required

Good Country People Character Analysis Essay
Joy changes her name to Hulga in Good Country People by Flannery O Conner in order to
change her perception of herself, her conflict being her identity. During Joy s contemplation, she
encounter the name Hulga because she had a vision of the name working like the ugly sweating
Vulcan who stayed in the furnace and to whom...the goddess had to come when called (664).
Joy sympathizes for Vulcan because the god also has a physical deformity; and just like Vulcan
who s the god of fire and forge, she s forging an identity for herself that can be stated her highest
creative act (665). It can be interpreted that Joy has forgiven herself for her disability and sees her
leg as her backbone when her mother had not been able to turn her dust into Joy but rather she
had been able to turn it herself into Hulga; she accepts her own beauty and realizes she s
beautiful (665). If Vulcan can be married to Venus, then she can be accepted into her own crowd,
as she once said, If you want me, here I am LIKE I AM (664).... Show more content on

Because she believes in the inexistence of god and meaning of life, Joy exhibits characteristic
traits of awareness and fortitude, viewing herself as nothing as described when Joy said, I don t
have illusions. I m one of those people who see through to nothing emphasizing her nihilistic belief
(673). In the following scene, she demonstrates her confidence in her enlightenment when she said,
We are all damned...but some of us have taken off our blindfolds and see that there s nothing to
see. It s a kind of salvation, presenting where her fortitude derives from

Dead Man s Folly By Thomas Hardy
Dead Man s Folly Have you ever wondered what it would be like to experience a murder? In
Dead Man s Folly this is the question that Ariadne Oliver has brought to Nasse House in Devon.
Mrs. Oliver calls Hercule Poirot, a well known detective and says he needs to get on the next
train to Devon due to an urgent matter. Out of curiosity, he decides to go. When M. Poirot gets to
Nasse House, he is greeted by Mrs. Oliver, and she informs him that she is hosting a murder hunt.
All of the people that live on the grounds have decided they need to bring in more tourists to help
their community survive and they thought if they had Mrs. Oliver arrange it, there would be many
people interested. Mrs. Oliver tells M. Poirot that she has a bad feeling about... Show more content

Hercule Poirot is a Belgian detective who is called by Mrs. Oliver to investigate her staged
murder. He is the protagonist and main character in the story. Throughout the book, we are able
to see M. Poirot develop a strategy as to whom killed the three people. He is an extremely
intelligient man who tends to be quiet and keeps to himself. The next character is Ariadne Oliver
who is a famous author hired to plan the murder hunt. She is an older woman who becomes very
suspicious of the people around her due to the fact they continuously try to change what she has
planned out for the murder hunt. She is and older woman who acts a bit haughty at times.
Throughout the book, we see her become more skeptical and unsure of her surroundings. These
are few of the characters who played a role in Dead Man s Folly.
Dead Man s Folly has many strengths and weaknesses. One strength is the author establishes
right away in the beginning that someone might be murdered, so it was as if i could look for
clues and suspicious behaviors at the same time as Poirot. The vocabulary was overall fairly easy,
so it wasn t too difficult to read. A weakness would be that I had a hard time getting into the book
because the beginning was quite boring. I wish Agatha Christie would have gotten into the mystery
a bit sooner than she did. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes mysteries or

  • 2. Spearmint Log In this research paper, I am determining which gum will last the longest. It may come to your surprise that mint flavored gum lasts longer than fruit flavored gum. To do my project, I am taking five different gum flavors and chewing them to determine which flavor lasts. The types of gum I will be using are Juicy Fruit, Fruit Stripe, Spearmint, Extra Polar Ice, and Bubblicious. When I chew the gum, I hypothesize that the Spearmint gum will last longer. The reason mint gum lasts longer is that mint is a very strong oil with a strong distinct flavor. The flavor will simply last longer as it s a stronger taste. Although you may have thought that Juicy Fruit or Fruit Stripe may last longer because it s strong fruit flavor, but the mint actually ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Essay on The Practice of Music Censorship Music censorship has taken many forms in the past, but many forms are overbearing and generally ridiculous. Censorship comes in many forms. The practice of censorship is defined as ...the act of changing or suppressing speech or writing that is considered subversive of the common good. (Merriam Webster). Old forms of censorship included not allowing airplay, refusal of sale, and refusal of publishment. The major issue found with those that oppose censorship, is that they have no real grounds to address the problem sensibly. Most focus of censorship, however, is focused on the younger genres of music such as Metal, Punk, and especially Rap. The structure / practice of censoring offensive, lyrics during mid song comes in different... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... There is no area for the language to be expressed and let be untouched.(EO) Much of America s censorship has seen specific targets in what has been chosen to be censored. A wondrous example would be the foreign metal pop influence band, Rammstein. A number of their songs were banned from television, or were not permitted to play on daytime airtimes.(Rammstein) An example of one of their songs banned, is a track that s titled Ich Will. When this track s name is translated to english, it reads I want. The video accompanying the song portrays the band committing crimes of terrorism, then later receiving airtime for their behaviour. Politicians actually moved to have the video and song banned from the US on account of the behaviour shown in the video.(Rammstein) References of bands being dis promoted for their portrayals in lyrics and video accompaniments go on for ages. A short list of examples of songs/ artists that saw censorship in newer music consists of Tell Me Baby, (RHCP), also Killing in the Name of, (Rage Against the Machine) and Closer, (NIN) So overall, Music has it s own particular area of censorship which is unique and flawed in it s own way. Although there have been some more recent changes in music to support the freedom of artists, the past has been condemning and rough for artists to easily express, themselves through their ... • 4. How Charles Dickens Portrays Class in Great Expectations... The novel, Great Expectations is deemed to be one of the greatest English classic novels of the literary heritage. Charles Dickens, the author of Great Expectations is thought to be one of history s finest writers and has contributed to English literature in many ways. Great Expectations is Dickens thirteenth novel and is based loosely on his own experiences. He did this with many of his novels, including his partly auto biographical piece, David Copperfield (with Dickens s own negligent mother and father being closely depicted in his character, David s parents). All the Year Round was a magazine that Charles Dickenshad founded. In late 1860, the sales of the magazine were dropping, and so Dickens began publishing ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Victorian times, there was a lack of social mobility, meaning that it was difficult to move from one class to the next. There were three classes which were determined by parentage. The aristocracy were those with wealth and power. The middle class were managers, who if they were exceedingly successful, could become rich but it was hard to adapt to the habits and behaviour of the aristocracy. Unfortunately for those who were working class (undertaking manual labour), it was almost a fruitless struggle to try. Pip s life shows how one individual has moved from the working class to becoming a gentleman . This essay will be concentrating on the way Dickens portrays class in Great Expectations . The story is a fictional autobiography of Pip who narrates the story of his life when he is an adult. Because of this, there are two Pips Pip the narrator, who tells us the story many years after the events and Pip the child, who acts out the events as they are taking place. We know this, as Pip the narrator often uses adult vocabulary to speak of his childhood. He uses words such as interlocutor to describe the convict it is not the type of word a young child would use. Pip reflects on the way he viewed the small graves for his brothers in chapter one, unreasonably , which show that he realises now that at the time it was absurd for him to have thought that his brothers were buried on their ... • 5. Database Xml And Resource Description Framework ( Rdf ) A triplestore is a non relational database that stores and retrieves triples using semantic queries. Triples store data and are imported and exported using the Resource Description Framework (RDF). A triple is a data entity comprising three components a subject, predicate and object that describe a set of data such as We have shoes . The subject is We , the predicate is have and the object is shoes . Triples provide an easy and flexible way of modeling data that is similar to how the human brain functions. Triples have a semantic structure that can easily represent connections between structured data and free flowing text. Triples form interconnected data networks (graphs), which are easy to read and can represent complex data structures. Information is stored in a triplestore and retrieved using a database query language called SPARQL. SPARQL is a query language for RDF data. It is a basic method for querying remote databases over HTTP. SPARQL can perform graph pattern matching queries and allows users to specify types of accessibility and navigational queries (the shortest distance between two nodes or how two nodes are connected) in triplestores. SPARQL generates powerful queries and reasons intuitively on the data in a triplestore. This also allows computers to reason intuitively on data. The information in triplestores can be stored, accessed and manipulated much easier versus using a relational database exponentially expanding data management and storage ... Both cultures believe in mostly the same gods and demigods, also known as half gods, but have different names to designate them. Perhaps the most famous demigod known most notably for his superhuman strength is Hercules, the Roman name for the Greek demigod Heracles. The superman like figure is even more popular in mythology than certain gods and goddesses. Hercules is shown as an extremely toned tall, young man with a dark beard and thick hair. By the creases in his leg muscles, Hercules is sent in motion and it is evident that the hero is using all his might to pull the beast towards him in order to control him. Thousands of years ago, before artists work fell into the category and style of art that existed during their time period, art was portrayed mostly through carved slabs or marble or stone. Art has existed since years before the Common Era and date all the way back to prehistory. It has helped historians and scientists understand the lifestyles in which past civilizations had followed. Economic growth, newly structured capitalistic movements as well as trans Atlantic expansion, became the successes of Europe and, as a result, its citizens overcame the overwhelming death toll (due to previous wars and the notorious Black Plague ). This led to an explicit reevaluation of life, the importance of religion, and prospects of power which all soared to an all time high. The answer is always by the book, which is He recieved funding by King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella. Not a single person asks themselves on why he was chosen specifically to go on this voyage. That is why I am writing this paper. I will give the motives that drove this expedition. Before a proper explanation can be given, there must be a background to give the reader a brief glimpse of who the man Columbus was. Columbus was born in Genoa, Italy in 1451. Columbus also was the child of a pair of two wool merchants. Columbus, during his early years worked on a merchant ship. Afterwards, Columbus sought out a higher education in the fields of cartography, navigation, and astronomy. These topics that he learned later would fuel his ambition for exploration . After receiving permission to explore, he began his journey for fame and gold. Initially, Columbus planned to sail from more foreign ports such as England and Portugal, but was denied. Then, he sought patronage from Spain, who had an interest in his plan. One motive of the spaniards was to find a quicker, more free route to India. This was their main goal. This psychological trauma that can be experienced after critical care has been addressed by the National Outreach Forum (2003) who suggested that services should be developed to address the implications of critical illness. Samuelson (2011) suggests that any negative emotions associated with critical care can be counterbalanced with memories that reinforce safety, control and trust. This is a useful point to consider in Lily case, who fortunately had the time to talk through her worries concerning continual dialysis treatment with the staff on the ward, who were able to convince her she was in the safest possible hands and that continuing her dialysis treatment would be the best option. The psychosocial impact of this event and its repercussions surrounding Lily unwillingness to continue her dialysis treatment is a key aspect to consider when looking at involving Lily in the decision making process. Taking a Look at Amphotecering B (AmB) Amphotericin B (AmB), a polyene macrolide antibiotic, is highly effective against various Leishmania species and is currently recommended as first line treatment for the visceral form (Dea Ayuela et al., 2004). Amphoteric nature of AmB contributed by its hydrophobic (the polyene hydrocarbon chain) and hydrophilic (the polyhydroxyl chain) domains, is responsible for poor aqueous and organic solubility, and intercalation into cell membranes to elicit drug s pharmacological effects (Milhaud et al., 2002). To sort out insolubility and non absorbability problems conventional AmB formulation FungizoneВ® (a complex with bile salt deoxycholate) is available. However, toxic side effects, in particular, hemotoxicity and azotemia which occurs in around 80% cases and renal tubular damage at therapeutic doses have often limited its clinical applications (Wasko et al., 2012). The appropriate delivery system would have an unique advantage in overcoming toxic manifestations on normal body functions caused by direct exposure of the drug and to improve its therapeutic efficacy. It was thought that lipid based formulations could be the best approach where association of the drug within the lipid molecules would protect the vital organs from direct exposure of the drug. In some earlier reports, it was claimed that liposomal carriers were much less toxic than FungizoneВ® which opened the gate for development of AmB liposomal formulations (Larabi et al., 2004). • 19. Characteristics Of The Romantic Era One must be true to themselves, to obtain human happiness. The Romantic era was a period that expressed the importance of breaking away from society, and finding one s inner love. This period dates during the years of 1790 1900 s. Its key characteristics included emotion, love, and imagination. Until this point, truth was defined by the Neoclassicists as something transmitted by a tradition derived from the philosophy, art, and literature of the Greek and Romans. In contrast, the Romantics rejected these assumptions and emphasized the uniqueness of the individual because all human beings are not made of the same stuff. It s safe to say, individualism and nature were the top values to obtain human happiness during the Romanticismera. Before the Romantic era, society played a huge role in how individuals were accepted, viewed, and should construct themselves. Decisions were made by society and society inputted restraints of social institutions. Everything was viewed in a mechanistic, perfectionist aspect. In reality, life is imperfect, wild, and uncontrollable. The Romantic era was a time that one focused on self instead of society s views. This period made it feasible to break away from social restraints to express your own human values. Value is defined as things you care about and was expressed using feelings. You owned the authority to find feeling in life and emotion. Freedom was achievable and life became a reality because one was viewed as an individual instead of a majority. Nature is a major factor of the Romanticism era. The Romanticism era changed the mechanized world into the natural world. Before this period, salvation was found through the heaven, a social institute. One had to have faith using a philosophic mind to achieve salvation. In contrast, the Romantics state that nature is not salvation, but instead an aspect used to achieve salvation by being present in nature. Life consist of responding to nature by imagining. However, before driverless vehicles enter the market three main challenges relating to technology, legal and consumers lie ahead (IHS Automotive, 2014). Software reliability and cyber security must be guaranteed (Kelly CNN, 2014), a legal framework for self driving vehicles regarding insurance and liability has to be established (Kelly CNN, 2014) and consumers must be convinced to accept driverless vehicles (IHS Automotive, 2014). Consumers may question, whether driverless driving features will offer an overall better option than driving themselves. Taking into account that failure of consumer acceptance entails considerable costs to companies (Chiesa Frattini, 2011). It is essential for organizations to understand under which circumstances customers accept autonomous cars. Acceptance and future use of new technologies are frequently subject to tradeoffs between uncertain benefits and costs of adopting the new invention (Venkatesh, Morris, Davis, Davis, 2003). Several studies have researched the acceptance of driver assistant systems (DAS) (Adell, 2009; Arndt, 2004; Arndt Engeln, 2008; Huth Gelau, 2013). • 22. Analysis Of The Bhagavad Gita The Two Selves Essay Ethic in the Bhagavad Gita: The Two Selves Coming from Mahabharata, the ancient Indian epic, Bhagavad Gita is the conversation between Krishna and Arjuna, as Arjuna is hesitatant about the fighting in a war where hundreds and thousands people would die. His enemies are also his brothers and teachers. Krishna explains to him about the reasons why the war is necessary. The ideas that are taught by Krishna provides a very different point of views on ethics, unlike the Yoga set forth by Patanjali, or the precepts of Buddhism, the act of killing in a war is encouraged to Arjuna and even not considered as a sin of his. The self that are being destroyed in the war is the worldly self and the Atman of them will be set free and cleansed from the sinful mortal body. The reason for Arjuna s hesitation in the first place is that the war is fought between his cousins; the two sides have his brothers, relatives and teachers. In the enemy team, there are of course, the people he respects and people he despites. The cause of the war, too, Arjuna is questioning whether their fought over the throne is worth the epic war that is going to happen. The war as grand as this, there s going to be loss of lives, those of the soldiers and the civilians. All these bloods, kills, Arjuna is worried if he will carry the sins to the lives lost in this war. This tragic alternative disrespects all that is sacrificed when individuals bear witness to war, and it overlooks all that can be gained when we bear witness to their stories. The Ethical Obligation to Witness Ideas from the French philosopher Emmanuel Levinas provide an ethical account of human interaction that is instrumental in elucidating the importance of bearing witness. In a text, entitled Totality and Infinity: An Essay on Exteriority , written in 1961, he asserts that individuals have an ethical obligation when interacting with one another. Not only are nurses responsible for the physical health of their patients, but they are burdened with an unwritten an obligation to bettering the emotional health of their patients. It is suggested that there is a moral necessity for a creation of space, and education to allow nurses to carry out this moral duty of bearing witness to suffering, disorder, disease, grief, joy, fear and vulnerability with others (Naef, 2006). Bearing Witness to Lived Trauma: When an individual has lived through a trauma, it is obvious that there is no way to alter the traumatic actions of the past, however, there is a possibility of mitigating the mental burden that the past plays in the everyday life of the victim. Listening to the story of another allows listeners to better understand, and therefore better serve the needs of the victims. In addition, speaking their story out loud can allow victims to bring forth an experience that has been haunting them in a way that mitigate s the amplification of emotion that can happen when a story is confined to the space of one s own mind. As the story transitions from taking sole residence in the memory of an individual to being shared with others, the survivor is sometime alleviated from a portion of the anxiety resulting from the trauma, even if only in a small way. My middle schoolyears ended up being a time where I made new friends, went on amazing trips, and learned fascinating things. My trip to Spain was full of culture I had never experienced and my cruise was spectacular with sights of beaches and landmarks that were beautiful. Spain had always been on my bucket list to visit ever since I was little and saw pictures of the country s beautiful architecture. One month before spring break my mom surprised me with tickets to Madrid and Barcelona! I was so ecstatic, I had to start getting prepared right away. The time eventually came and there I was standing in the Madrid airport after 8hours of being confined in an airplane seat. The culture was already around my mom and I as we exited the airport. Spanish music was booming everywhere, colorful buildings, and city lights made our drive to the hotel a spectacular show. ANA s Principles for Health System Transformation 2016 outlined the association s stance on the current state of affairs regarding the ACA. The association s current principles which remain at the front of the issue regarding the health care reform remain: access to all, efficient optimization of community services, support for those who cannot afford care, and sufficient support for the education of health care providers. (ANA, 2016) Policy Options Many opinions are presented in how best to address the issue of universal health care for the American public: keeping the current system, changing the current system, repealing the ACA, or adopting another system altogether. Considering the cost to Americans associated with the federal deficit, changing, repealing, or maintaining the current ACA does not address or fix the deficit. • 30. The American Of Latin America In the 1920s and 1930s intellectuals and statesmen in Latin America began to adopt ideologies of race mixture in an effort to advance nation building projects based on notions of inclusion and racial equality. These notions which where said to promote racial inclusivity included mestizaje. The ideology of mestizaje often times enabled exclusion through racial terms and marginalization. In order to grasp how such an ideology has created a paradoxical and contradictory outcome politically, economically, and socially for black communities in Latin Americaone must draw from real world examples. Two examples of Latin American countries that have experienced marginalization of their black communities are Columbia and Mexico. Before one can enter a conversation on the process through which black communities are marginalized in Latin America it is essential to define a few terms. First one must define what Latin America encompasses. Latin America s dictionary definition is that it is the part of the American Continents South of the United Statesin which Spanish, Portuguese, or French is officially spoken. However, Latin America also has an ideological meaning that was defined in lecture by Professor Campos as as an idea thus signified a restoration of western civilization in the Americas. It is when there is a value placed on the variety of ideas, race, ethnicities, religion, gender, sexuality and orientation, which is flourishing in an environment. Depending on your employer and workplace, workplace diversitycan vary based off several different factors. Usually, there is a preferential standpoint taken on the matter and it can be either display a high or a low context cultureof diversity. According to Mason (2013) Workforce diversity has been described as a double edged sword; it has the potential for positive and negative outcomes (p.659). Workplace diversity is important in a business setting because it carries forward a combination of different types of people to worktogether in unity, encourages uniqueness, innovative, creative approaches, and supports interesting divergent ideas to accomplish tasks or goals. Benefits of a high workplace diversity environment is it not being stuck to conformity in group thinking, or being narrow minded with similar thoughts and having preference to only be around people who think like you do which is known as the diversity paradox . According to a quote stated from Friedrich Nietzsche, Hackett (2014) The surest way to corrupt a youth is to instruct him to hold in higher esteem those who think alike than those who think differently (p. 415). Instead, it reiterates the importance of having a diverse workplace because it constructs better ideas, coming from different minds, and build upon each other through brainstorming. However, a poor workplace diversity can also adversely affect one s motivation, which leads to overall job dissatisfaction and demotivation. When there is poor workplace diversity, you can see less communication barriers and cultural resistance, but it also makes it harder for individuals to get used to working with others that aren t the same as them. This can become a form of adversity for businesses if their employees cannot develop a strong skill set to adapt with not only coworkers but also customers in the environment. Therefore, better communication and interaction skills are essential to promoting a business and making it successful. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When differing opinions from two separate parties meet often solutions can only benefit one group, where both cannot be satisfied. A relevant business story with an ethical dilemma is the french food waste bill, that has come into law earlier this year. This is an illustration of how one ethical value has overcome another in order for government to deal with the national food waste. In this report we will be analysing the decisions and actions of the main actors Arash Derambarsh and Guillaume Garot and how their ethical view s affected the government s actions on edible food waste. In the early 2000 s, Derambarsh began his law degree and found it increasingly difficult to feed himself and it was very common for students who had only four hundred euros a month after rent to find themselves hungry. 2010, Derambarsh started to grow awareness towards hunger in France, so he started campaigning against the wastage of food in his local area (Froelich, 2015). He now represents the Paris Commune of Courbevoie and believes that edible food being wasted is, scandalous and absurd , when there are still hungry citizens in France needing this such as the homeless, poor and unemployed (Froelich, 2015). On the evening of 6th November 1917, Trotsky went to the Peter and Paul Fortress, this housed the majority of Russian arms, it is located on an island in the middle of the river Neva in Petrograd, he bribed the troops guarding the fortress and his troops were given access to powerful munitions. Later that night the Revolution began. The primary objectives were to take command of railway stations, post offices, telephone centres, banks, bridges, and the Engineers Palace (the military headquarters). This objective continued into the morning of the 7th, and on the evening of the 7th November 1917 Trotsky and his Red Guard stormed the Winter Palace and arrested the ministers of the provisional government. On the 8th November, an announcement was made that the provisional government had been overthrown. Legislative History Of Tax Exemption Essay Some legislative history to tax exemption organizations began between 1894 and 1969, the development of legislation led the structure of the current tax exemptions granted to charitable and voluntary sectors outlined in the United States Tax Code. The early tax regulations established around three major principles. First, organizations operating for charitable purposes were granted exemptions from Federal income tax. Second, charitable organizations were required to be free of private inurement. Third, an income tax deduction for contributions was developed and designed to encourage charitable giving for organizations. The Wilson Gorham Tariff Act of 1884 provided an exemption for corporations, companies, or associations organized and conducted solely for charitable, religious, or educational purposes, including fraternal beneficiary associations. Ultimately this Act became famous for income tax provisions later found unconstitutional by the Supreme Court. The Underwood Tariff Act of 1913 established an income tax system with tax exemptions for certain organizations, most particularly for the Chamber of Commerce. The Chamber of Commerce appeared before the Senate Finance Committee during its deliberations because it was anxious that the existing tax exemptions would not protect nonprofit business groups. This Act also included an exemption for organizations dedicated to social welfare, the forerunner to today s IRC 501(c)(4). Later, the Revenue Act of 1943 required ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Joy sympathizes for Vulcan because the god also has a physical deformity; and just like Vulcan who s the god of fire and forge, she s forging an identity for herself that can be stated her highest creative act (665). It can be interpreted that Joy has forgiven herself for her disability and sees her leg as her backbone when her mother had not been able to turn her dust into Joy but rather she had been able to turn it herself into Hulga; she accepts her own beauty and realizes she s beautiful (665). If Vulcan can be married to Venus, then she can be accepted into her own crowd, as she once said, If you want me, here I am LIKE I AM (664).... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These are few of the characters who played a role in Dead Man s Folly. Dead Man s Folly has many strengths and weaknesses. One strength is the author establishes right away in the beginning that someone might be murdered, so it was as if i could look for clues and suspicious behaviors at the same time as Poirot. The vocabulary was overall fairly easy, so it wasn t too difficult to read. A weakness would be that I had a hard time getting into the book because the beginning was quite boring. I wish Agatha Christie would have gotten into the mystery a bit sooner than she did.
