Essay For Nursing School Application
Crafting an essay for a nursing school application is undeniably a challenging endeavor that
demands a unique blend of personal reflection, academic prowess, and a keen understanding of
the nursing profession. This task requires more than just stringing together a series of well-
structured sentences; it necessitates the ability to convey one's passion for nursing, articulate
one's motivations, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to the field.
To begin with, the challenge lies in striking a delicate balance between showcasing academic
achievements and sharing personal experiences. The essay should not read like a list of
qualifications but should seamlessly weave together the academic journey and the transformative
moments that fueled the desire to become a nurse. This process of self-reflection can be
emotionally taxing, as it involves revisiting pivotal moments in one's life and distilling them into
a compelling narrative.
Moreover, the essay must go beyond a mere recounting of experiences and delve into the
applicant's understanding of the nursing profession. Articulating a clear and informed vision of
how one sees themselves contributing to the field adds an additional layer of complexity. It
requires extensive research into the specific nursing program and a nuanced understanding of the
challenges and responsibilities inherent in the profession.
Additionally, the limited word count imposed by most application guidelines intensifies the
difficulty. Every word must carry weight, and each sentence should contribute to building a
comprehensive picture of the applicant. This constraint necessitates ruthless self-editing and the
ability to convey depth and breadth of experience within a confined space.
In conclusion, writing an essay for a nursing school application is a formidable task that demands
a combination of introspection, research, and the artful presentation of one's qualifications and
aspirations. It's an exercise in self-discovery and effective communication, making it both
challenging and rewarding for those aspiring to join the noble profession of nursing.

World Petroleum, Inc.
World Petroleum, Inc., is a large, international, publicly traded energy company
currently seeking growth opportunities abroad. Their latest interest is Afrinia, a small
nation on the west coast of Africa with largely untapped resources. The area is
divided into two sections, both geographically and socioculturally. The southern
region is made up of grasslands, populated by the Abani tribe. The northern region is
made up of rainforest, populated by the Banu tribe. These regions are joined together
by the Afrinia River. The Banu people have always resented those belonging to the
Abani tribe. The Abani, having easier access to higher education, quickly assumed

Afrinia s oil reserves are located in the north and northwestern part of the nation.
Drilling, exploration, and production, termed the upstream sector of the oil business,
are largely conducted by foreigners because the locals don t have the technical
expertise or knowledge. The Churchill Refinery is the only downstream operation in
Afrinia, located in the northwest nearby the upstream activity. There are several
ethical quandaries that must be dealt with. The first set comes with the initial
decision to invest in oil operations in Afrinia. As mentioned before, the Churchill
Refinery is the only downstream operation in the West African nation. This refinery
is unable to process the crude oil that is being extracted, necessitating the piping of
the excess crude oil to the coastal area for export, and incapable of yielding high
quality product, requiring many of the finished products from crude to be imported.
In addition to this, the plant emits a lot of pollution, operates unreliably, is not
maintained properly, and has a poor safety record. Economic analysis has shown that
it would not be viable to build another refinery, and World Petroleumis leaning
towards upgrading the current facilities to a small, complex plant. Upgrading the
Churchill Refinery would be a great opportunity for the nation to
Harold And The Boys Alcoholism
In Master Harold ... and the boys, a renovating drama play, Athol Fugard believes
that alcohol displays the root of all conflict. The play starts out with Hally returning
from school, and watching the two black Africans, Sam and Willie working around
while they dance as a usual peaceful evening. However, Hally gets a notion from
Sam that the father begins to recover quickly. This causes Hally to have a sense of
disbelief, that he contemplates with himself Sam must have been mistaken. This
could be where alcohol comes into play when Hally does not want the father to return
from the hospital due to the circumstances that the father suffers from alcoholism, and
Hally loathes alcoholism. Throughout the scenes of the play, the father gazes in...

Hally loathes alcohol, in (Fugard 51) Hally can be seen smashing the brandy when he
exhibits himself in a stressful situation with his mother, about his father returning
from the hospital. The problem continues to escalate when Hally tears up his
homework, becoming more reckless than before. Sam notices and conflict intensifies
when Hally begins to have a dispute with Sam that he ought to mind his own
business. To think that all of this started with alcohol comes shocking. Hally thinks
that with his father returning, he could be treated with disrespect when the father
drinks more contents of brandy.
Although some may consider that Athol Fugard introduced as Hally moving
forward at the end of the book, Hally remained riding his bicycle in the hail alone
after ensuing a heated altercation with Sam from the inexplicit humor that Hally
displayed to Sam. Sam and Willie are together which poses not a problem for the two.
This could possibly be why Hally does not move forward towards the end of the play.
In conclusion, In Master Harold ...and the boys. It seems as though none of the
characters had taken in a change to their personalities. Problems can be seen as
getting worse as violence carrying on that causes emotional conflict towards two
characters such as Sam and Hally. The father suffers from alcohol and Hally loathes
An Analysis Of Flowers For Algernon
Flowers for Algernon is a very intriguing novel about Charlie Gordon, a mentally
challenged adult. Throughout the novel, there are numerous references to Carlie s
past with his family. His past intelligence is what primarily causes him to undergo his
treatment. However, his past relationship with his family, prominently his mother,
alter his abilities to develop emotional connections. His newfound intelligence also
complicates his abilities to reconnect with his family and friends from before.
Therefore, Charlie s past had a very powerful influence on Charlie during and after
the experiment. During the experiment, Charlie s intelligence level heavily
influences how he is treated. Before he becomes an intellectual, Charlie is treated
with great disrespect by his acquaintances. Charlie s coworkers used the phrase
pulling a Charlie Gordon quite often when insulting another coworker. They use
this term to describe a person as unintelligent, or stupid, much like they label
Charlie. Initially, Charlie does not understand what the term means, but as he
becomes smarter, he does, and it upsets him greatly. Charlie s change of opinions
affects his relationships and bonds. Before Charlie went through the experiment, he
believes his coworkers, Frank and Joe, are his best friends, as they take him to
parties with them. As Charlie progresses, he realizes they only keep him around to
embarrass him, and for a good laugh. (4) Suddenly, during his progression, Charlie s

regular season games have dropped 35 percent since 2012 (Reyes 2015).
Concussions caused by helmet to helmet hits decreased 43 percent and hits to

Comprehensive Peer Evaluation Paper
2012 Comprehensive Peer Evaluation
The comprehensive peer evaluation of Dixie State was conducted in October 2012.
The size and scope of this evaluation required nine evaluators who worked on campus
for a three day period (VanderStaay et al., 2012, pp. 1 4). Steven L. VanderStaay, who
then served as the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education at Western Washington
University in Bellingham, Washington, chaired the evaluation committee. Joining
VanderStaay were eight academics from universities in Idaho, Montana, and
Washington (VanderStaay et al., p. 4; see Appendix C). Besides the evaluation, the
committee listed 49 persons whom they interviewed in the course of the evaluation
(Appendix D). They also conducted open meetings in which 150 persons were

How Did Akhenaten Change Egyptian Religion
Akhenaten was an Egyptian king during the New Kingdom and he tried to change the
Egyptian religion. In the readings the document titled The Great Hymn to the Aten
describes why king Akhenaten tried to change the ancient religion, and why this
ended up being very important later on. What he tried to do was change the Egyptian
religion by introducing something similar to monotheism. Though the main reason
for this significant change was, according to the readings, He ordered this change to
downgrade the influence of the rich priests of Amen Re, the local deity from Thebes
who rose to national prominence in the New Kingdom and became Re (the sun god)
(Readings, p.23). So he basically did this because of rich priests from Thebes s

created the earth according to your desire, while you were alone, With men, cattle,

and flies with its wings (Readings, p. 25). This shows his idea of there being one
god responsible for creation that being Aten. Nearly at the end of the passage of The
Great Hymn to the Aten he reminds the readers of Aten and who he is, The earth

Did Milo Want A Life Of Subservient Husbandry Like His...
Did Milo want a life of subservient husbandry like his father and generations of
Guillets? His father would leave him with no significant inheritance, even though
he was the eldest boy. His lack of secondary schooling and his French Catholic
ancestry, despite being only partial, placed him on the wrong side of the two
solitudes to improve his life. To be a landowner meant independence. His
childhood, not only marred by poverty but also by the traumatic series of deaths of
those so close to him, conceivably placed a pall over his future that s if he did not
do something radical. (There is an unsubstantiated rumour that he had a falling out
with his family, possibly from his second step mother, and not his father as Milo
honoured his father by naming a son after him.) For whatever reason, and it seems
he had a few, Milo left Quebec likely either in the fall of 1881 or spring of 1882 at
the age of 15 (he thought 14) and headed to Ontario. If he had left just a bit later he
would have had to endure another significant death, that of his younger brother
Joseph. пїјпїјпїјEphraim Heald Patch Jonpatch.ca Rebecca Mann Turner

Essay On Family Trip
Have you ever gotten on a family trip and wondered if it could possibly change the
way you perceive life? Well, let me tell you that this exact matter happened to me
the last Fourth of July. When you are in your teenager years a person only thinks of
one point and that s you, yourself, and you again. That s what I had on my mind
before going to this marvelous trip, but how I saw my future before I went, and how I
saw it when I came back and were very different. How could a mere and inoffensive
family trip become such an important change in my life?

What I didn t count on was the fact that I was going to be swimming among them in
a special pool on the hotel. This pool has the form of an antique Maya temple, with
an extensive toboggan at the top that passes right through the pool of sharks. That
view while passing from inside the toboggan is one am never going to forget and
how could I if this trip was being my first time in so many ways; It was my first
time outside the U.S, also it was my first time on a cruise, and not to mention my first
time swimming with sharks.
The next element that called my attention was something called the White party, it
consisted of a truly big party on the deck of the boat where every single person was
supposed to dress in white and greed the captain and the crew. The next day we
went to a private island, regardless to say that it had also been my first time on a
private island, it was a paradise like place. There everyone was doing fun activities,
surfing, snorkeling, and even biking. After spending the day there we went back to
the ship and the next morning we were on the Miami Bay

In addition to duty to reporting, I was quiet surprised at how mandated Laws
requiring reporting and the limitations to Confidentiality differ in various states,
because coupled to what Joseph and Nellie were discussing in Feldman s video ,
New York lawyer are not obligated to carry out reporting (Stein, 2004). In some
cases, Professional Counselors/therapists are covered under attorney Client
privilege, if the Counselor/therapist is employed under the attorney, thus making
reporting of an abuse void. (Stein, p. 11). Furthermore on the issue of
Confidentiality, I found the video s information and the information I gathered
from the State of Maryland, Board of Professional Counselors/therapists and the
ACA code of ethics websites, contradictory. According to the discussion, on the
Video, a third party can be granted access into a victim s records, but according to
both Maryland and ACA code of ethics websites, Clients recorded are not supposed
to be made known to a third party, unless the Client issues an informed consent. So I
just think revealing a Client s information is in violation of the code of conduct and
HIPPA act, just like Nurse Brown and the incompetent social worker, they were in
violation of the Statue and I could say, COMAR 10.58.04; Professional Competence.

Cycle Of Terror And Tragedy Analysis
To fully understand this artwork, The Cycle of Terror and Tragedy, done by artist
Graydon Parrish in 2002, one must have a general understanding of the events that
took place on September 11th, 2001. Because the painting is portraying the events
and the aftermath to the viewer, it is understood that the audience is aware of this
significant date. Parrish has a very strong stance against the actions taken on this
day, as he displays this tragic event. The viewer s eye is initially drawn to the two
tall screaming men in the center of the photo, used to represent the twin towers.
This sets a very dark and depressing tone as the tragedy of September 11th is truly
portrayed. The story that can be seen here is read left to right on the canvas, showing

This paintings powerful message can clearly be seen to the viewer, especially
culturally when we see the torn up Constitution of the United States in the
background, representing a free for all on this day as our American beliefs did not
matter to the terrorists. We also see the diversity between the three suffering women
in handcuffs, showing that this tragedy hit everyone, but we were all bound together
as Americans. The visual claims that this event truly was horrific and shows the
absolute loss of innocence throughout our nation on this one day. The hands of the
men especially show the suffering and anguish our nation felt, as they are deformed,
projecting their pain onto the viewer. This work specifically reflects a historical
moment in American history in that it depicts the events of September 11th.
However, it also shows the future that is to come with the old man who survived
passing the information of these events onto the young innocently blindfolded girl on
the bottom right. Clearly, this piece is superficial in the sense where it comments on
one event, but it also goes deeper, showing the aftermath and actions to come for the

Pension Benefits And Benefits Of Pensions
The topic to be discussed in this research paper is that of pensions. Pensions are an
important topic in the field of accounting due to all the specific accounting
methods and procedures that go along with them as well as the fact that pensions
are so widely used and can make up a large part of a company s expenses. Within
the topic of pensions to be covered in this paper fall the concepts of the types of
pension plans, pension obligations and plan assets, pension expense, as well as
various reporting issues. Pensions Pensions are a benefit that many employees
receive from their employers and come in the form of compensation that is
received after they are retired (Spiceland, Sepe, Nelson, 2013). Because these
pension benefits are a type of deferred compensation, there are certain ways that
these benefits must be accounted for. This means that pension benefits are
recognized as they are earned through an accrual basis. Aside from companies
providing pension plans, people sometimes also invest in things such as IRAs,
stocks, and bonds to create their own personal pension funds. The reason that many
companies offer pension plans is due to the fact that they can help provide a sense of
security for employees, increase employee satisfaction, or sometimes so that the
company can compete better in the labor market (Spiceland et al., 2013). Types of
Pension Plans Within the concept of pension plans fall two different types of pension
plans: defined contribution pension plans

Public Company Accounting Oversight Board
1. Introduction
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB), a nonprofit corporation that
established by Congress and created by Sarbanes Oxley Act, aims to supervise the
audit of the public registered companies to make sure their reports conform the
requirements of fairness and independence, in order to protect the interest of
information users and investors ( PCAOB , 2015). Actually, there are three major
duties that PCAOB serves: setting auditing standards, inspecting registered public
accounting firms and enforcing auditing standards; inspecting registered public

2. The inspection process As discussed above, the inspection process aims to identify
and address the deficiencies and weakness that related to the audit procedures of a
firm. In order to achieve this goal, the PCAOB inspection process is focused on two
significant inspection procedures: (1) to evaluate the audit performance in specific
audit engagements; (2) to evaluate firm s quality control system to figure out whether
the operation of the system works effectively. In fact, the PCAOB inspection team
does not review all the audits for finding defects in this firm; instead, the team selects
engagements for inspection based on a risk based approach (Xi, 2013). As for review
of selected engagements, according to PCAOB (2012), it consists of the evaluation of
auditing for firm s financial statements and the assessment of auditing for internal
control. During this process, the inspection team reviews the relevant audit
documents in selected areas and then has a discussion, if necessary, with the audit
firm s engagement personnel based on the result of the review. Further, the inspection
team also has responsibility to analyze the potential adjustments, which in financial
statements that were not made by audit firm before. Besides that, the inspection team
needs to check the written communication records between the firms and the audit
committee for inspecting some engagements, especially in the largest companies

Analysis Of Orson Welles Citizen Kane
In 1941, the release of Orson Welles Citizen Kane saw the New York Times label it
as the riding crest of perhaps the most provocative publicity wave ever to float a
motion picture . Withstanding against contextual influences and alterations this
historically epic melodrama has endured time, continuing to rouse meaning and
differing interpretations for the individual of yesterday, today and tomorrows
humanity. Setting precedent for a new world of cinematography to arise, Welles
utilised the day s context to create what was believed to be a political allegory
warning against the dangers of isolationism. Nonetheless, as the decades roll on and
society itself sees extensive, even transformative modifications the messages

The illustration of overlapping gates is understood to stand as a metaphor for Kane
s obsessive, materialistic yearning. Additionally, we can interpret these gates as the
barriers, blocking interpersonal connections from his mentalities. And finally the
castle becomes a symbol of a greater power and disparaging fortune through its
presentation in a domineering light amidst the background of the shot. Hence, such
analogy s sensualise the concept of irony as deep focus shots exemplify the grand
residence of Xanadu in its decrepit, uncared for form. Aiding these observations is
dreary, non diegetic lyrical play and dark lighting, which infers the proposition that
whilst consumerism evokes appealing physical attributes, obsession and lustful
desires create eventual destruction. But was this Welles original intention? Did he
want us to see Xanadu as a metaphor for the miserable nature of excessive wealth?
Ladies and gentlemen, we are here purposely driven to question the meaning of
narrative structure, we are prompted to make our own, individualised understanding
of the scene and this is central to what you, I and society itself finds most appealing
we enjoy to be challenged and relate with the core ideas provoking

Trotsky s Assessment Of The Continuity Between Stalinism...
Trotsky s assessment of the continuity between Stalinism and Leninism Bolshevism is
valid to a certain extent. It is axiomatic that there is a multiplicity of factors that seem
to correlate Stalinism to Leninism, thus adding validity to Trotsky s assessment of the
continuity. However the straight line theory of the continuity between the two
ideological phenomena, implied by Trotsky, undermines the divergence between
them. Both phenomenons rose up in the Soviet Russia during the times of civil
unrest, but Stalinism can be seen as more of a revolution from above whilst the
Bolsheviks Leninismcan be seen as more of a revolution from below .
The historical development of Stalinism can be traced and analyzed through its
several stages. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, elements of discontinuity are also present as the revolution was perverted
by the Stalinist structure as the dictatorship of the proletariat soon became the
dictatorship of Stalin. Furthermore Stalin s theory of Socialism in One Country
betrayed that of the Marxist Leninist theory of propagating socialism to other
countries.
In order to fully assess the validity of the statement, two fundamental factors must we
must firstly look at. Firstly the aspects of continuity that may have lead to the the
statement.Secondly, factors within the Stalinist regime that illustrate aspects of
discontinuity from the Bolshevik regime. Lastly, the reason for the characterization,
on behalf of Trotsky to possibility to give validity to the Stalinist regime, likening that
to the popularized Leninist Bolshevik regime.
Why does Trotsky legitimize the Stalinist regime as being linked to the Bolsheviks?
Trotsky s assessment of the of the Stalinist phenomenon certainly seems unexpected
considering that any link between the two systems would certainly seem to
undermine Trotsky s creditably as the appropriate successor of Lenin.
Trotsky was a renowned revolutionary who played a pivotal role during the
Bolshevik Revolutionary. He was born on November 7th, 1879 in Yanovka, Ukraine,

The Batch Cultures
Based on the results of the batch cultures, in the previous chapter, the authors
decided to investigate 15 g, 25 g, and 35 g of 500 mg/g of 95% LIPC for the in vivo
study. Day 0 samples confirmed that opportunistic bacteria were present. SBEC
bacterial concentrations increased linearly (P = 0.008) as LIPC doseincreased but
concentrations were similar for 0 and 15 (Table 5.1). As the dose of LIPC increased
the concentration of C. perfringens decreased linearly (P = 0.03). The remaining
three opportunistic bacteriastrains, C. difficile, E. coli general, and E. coli K 12, were
not significant (P ≥ 0.20) across treatments. Numerically, 25 had the lowest
concentration of E. coli general, and 0 had the lowest concentration of C. difficile.
Although increasing the dose of LIPC decreased C. perfringens the observation that
increasing the dose also increases SBEC would suggest that there may be no
additional benefit of dosing LIPC above the recommended rate. However, this would
also suggest that the nutraceutical reaches the cecum without being compromised in
the stomach during the digestionprocess.
Parameters of inflammation, including ESR (P = 0.87) and range of motion (P ≥
0.24) were not significant among treatments (Table 5.2). Additionally, all blood work
was within normal ranges (data not shown), suggesting that increasing the dose of
LIPC has no negative effect. Interestingly, a numerical basis suggested that, 35 had
the least amount of inflammation detected on the ESR

Special education consists of many facets that people can be categorized under. It is
not a definite process and there are many things that one must to take into
consideration before it can be declared that any person should receive special needs

consideration when trying to determine if a student qualifies for special needs
services in the schoolsystem. When one speaks of intelligence, it is easy to assume
that it is a reference to how smart an individual is. For students that may have

The Defiance Of Gender Stereotypes

15 October 14 The Defiance of Gender Stereotypes in Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby
Throughout the 1920 s, before Women s Suffrage, women were viewed as inferior,
as well as subordinate to males because of many years of patriarchal dominance. In F.
Scott Fitzgerald s, The Great Gatsby, women are seen as lesser by the male
characters, yet show a great sense of power and domination over the actions and
storyline. The major plotline of Gatsby s love for Daisy and the American Dream
circulates around the mere factor of the power women have over men. Fitzgerald s
portrayal of women parallels with the 1920 s societal reflections on how men are
viewed as dominant, whereas women are treated as second class citizens. Daisy,
Jordan and Myrtle are portrayed poorly through their insouciant view on the world,
objectification by their male counterparts and their narcissism, but defy the
stereotypes of the 1920 s.
In The Great Gatsby, the characters, male or female, let their narcissism control
their actions and get the best of them. Daisy is shown to care more about herself
than her daughter, flaunting off the child as an object of, not pride, but a reflection
of herself. Daisy remarks, All right...I m glad it s a girl. And I hope she ll be a fool
that s the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool (Fitzgerald 21),
showing that she is aware of her own narcissism and marginalization, yet how she

Unfortunately, Jonesborough lacks any form of regular, scheduled public
transportation.
After speaking with employees of The Jonesborough Chamber of Commerce, they
said at one time the Johnson City Transit would make several runs per day to the
Jonesborough Chamber of Commerce parking lot. This allowed residents of
Jonesborough a ride to the transit hub in Johnson City for their needs. There they
could ride other buses to their destinations, and ride the bus back to the Chamber
when their errands were done.
Although they were not sure of the date, Johnson City had discontinued the transit
service to Jonesborough several years ago. They were unsure of why the transit was
discontinued, and there are no plans to re implement the transportation to
Jonesborough at the present time. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Uber is now available in the Tri Cities area. A ride from the Jonesborough Chamber
of Commerce to the Johnson City Transit System main hub would cost anywhere
from $19 $25 depending on the actual mileage once the trip begins (www.uber.com).
Two taxi cabs serve the Jonesborough area as well, L L Taxi and WW Taxi Company
offer taxi services to and from the Jonesborough area (www.lanltaxi.net) (https:/
/www.facebook.com/WWTAXICO/).
Chamber employees also stated the local churches do offer rides to their worship
services, and other transportation services are available on an on demand system.
They said there is a network of people in the local churches who will provide
transportation on an as needed basis to medical appointments, grocery stores,
pharmacies, etc. Employees at the chamber said, although no public transportation is
available, they have never known anyone to miss a medical appointment or not have
their daily needs due to the loss of public transportation.

Arctic Tundra Essay
The tundra is by far the coldest type of biome, as it is known for its low
temperatures, little precipitation, poor nutrients, and short growing seasons.
Occurring primarily near the Arctic within the Northern Hemisphere, the soil may be
frozen all year up to a few feet, which allows no tree growth. However, a few animals
have adapted to these conditions. These animals include lemmings, hares, oxen,
foxes, wolves, and more. Within the tundrabiomethere are two different types of
tundra biomes, arctic tundra and alpine tundra. Arctic tundra can be found circling
the North Pole and reaching far enough south to reach the coniferous forests of the

5. Conduct research on one mammal that lives on the tundra and prepare a short

Among the many species that live on the tundra, there is the arctic fox (scientific
name alopex lagopus). Staying within the tundra (both arctic and alpine) biome,
the arctic fox can be found in parts of Canada, Russia, Greenland, Svalbard, and
Alaska. Arctic foxes are known for their small furry bodies that are covered by a
thick white or blue gray coat, short pointy ears, and bushy tails. Their coloring
actually allows them to camouflage into the ice, snow, and will change to a brown
/gray during the summer in order to continue camouflaging. This in turn helps
them with their predatory nature. Although arctic foxes are herbivores and will
eat vegetables occasionally, their primary diet is the meat from small mammals
such as voles or lemmings. However, arctic foxes also feed on a variety of birds,
eggs, and will sometimes eat fish. During the winter months when food is scarce,
arctic foxes are known to follow polar bears and will feed off of their leftovers.
Unlike other animals in the tundra, they do not
Academic Success
EFFECTS ON ACADEMIC SUCCESS Although student athletes are supposed to be
attending college to receive an education, for most their academic success takes a
back seat to athletics. Due to the athletic stressors placed on student athletes and the
demanding time commitments they have, it is difficult for them to get the best
academic experience possible. It typically takes the average studentathlete six years
to graduate rather than the normal four years and 88% of all student athletes obtain
their degree by the age of 30 while the average student graduates by the age of 21 or
22 (Brown, 2011). The Adjusted Graduation Gap (AGG), a model that compares
athlete s graduation rates by conference as well as compares them directly to the rates

In the Pacific 12 Conference alone, football players graduated at a rate of 27%

Rate (GSR) shows improvement in athlete graduation rates yet the rates are still low.
Division I men s basketball players recorded a graduation rate of 67.7% and football
players recorded a graduation rate of 68.6% (Grasgreen, 2011). While there are
several factors that contribute to these low numbers, the time commitment placed on
student athletes has the greatest impact on their lack of academic success.
The time demands related to their sport makes it difficult for student athletes to
completely devote themselves to their academic pursuits. After a long day of
practice and training or even an athletic game, it is difficult for the athlete to have
enough energy to put forth his or her best effort on his or her academics (Sharp
Sheilley, 2008). When teams have an away game during the week, student athletes
may not return back to campus until 1:00 or 2:00 in the

Using A Polymer As A Material For Carbon Dioxide

ENG 199 HW#3: Simplified Literature Review on Research Topic
My research involves the synthesizing polyamine starting from readily available
building blocks namely ethylene and carbon monoxide and then using that to
capture carbon dioxide, an undesirable greenhouse gas which contributes to global
warming, from industrial processes. Currently, liquid amines are used industrially
and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable,
and degrade quickly. The novel use of a polymer as a material for this purpose could
solve many of these issues.
I chose three articles to review to get a better understanding of the current work
being done in the field. The first, Absorbent Materials for Carbon Dioxide Capture
from Large Anthropogenic Point Sources by Christopher Jones gives an overview of
materials currently being used to capture carbon dioxide what I am attempting to do
with polyamine. The second, Steam Stripping for Regeneration of Supported Amine
Based CO2 Adsorbents, also by Jones, is a communications that discusses
regeneration of the amine once it has been used for carbon dioxide capture. The third
by Maschmeyer entitled The Reductive Amination of Aldehydes and Ketones and the
Hydrogenation of Nitriles: Mechanistic Aspects and Selectivity Control relates to the
reaction I am doing (reductive amination of a polyketone). Furthermore, a review
article will be particularly good for my purposes because it will attempt to

Reflection About The TazпїЅ Prayer
At the TaizГ© prayer, the place with the altar and candles was inviting; first the
silence for about 10 minutes, then the music played, followed by long pauses for
praying and reading the scriptures together. The prayer around the Jesus cross statue
in the center was about to begin when a person placed the cross on the ground and
next to the cross a pillow for people to kneel and express their burdens. After about
ten minutes, the prayeraround the cross continued, but this time the cross statue was
moved to a table. People freely approached the cross statue at the table and placed
their heads on it or kissed the cross. After a few more prayers were said aloud, then
the altogether final prayer followed by a song was the end of the prayer. From this
opportunity of praying in a group, I learned about the gifts and challenges of prayer
while reflecting in silence and listening to the meditative music.
The TaizГ© prayer is an opportunity to reflect on your day or your life and pray with
others together. This was my first time in a TaizГ© prayer, I have never heard about
it before this class. The prayer is centered on a worship group that between silence,
songs, prayers, and bible readings, people stand up to acknowledge the cross statue
in the center by kneeling in front or kissing the statue. You are not alone, you spend
the hour with people of different churches or religious beliefs either in silence,
singing, praying and worshipping.
During the prayer, I learned that the peace
The Tragic Death Of Star-Crossed Lovers In Shakespeare

The tragic death of the star crossed lovers
In the play Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, fate is to be blamed for the
death of the two star crossed lovers. The cause of their deaths was a number of
challenges placed in their path by fate that the two were not able to overcome. One
of the greatest challenges was their identities. Romeo, a Montague, and Juliet, a
Capulet were born into rival families, yet still managed to fall in love with each other
at first sight. The two families, the Capulets, and the Montagues despised each other
and would not allow their children to marry someone from the other family, thus
causing Romeo and Juliet to take extreme measures which cause their eventual
deaths. My only love sprung from my only hate!
Hebrew Bible Identity
The origin of the Hebrew Bible is unknown, but scholars believe the earliest
collections of writings first five books date back to nearly 3,500 years ago. The
Pentateuch consist of these first five books. The Old Testament, which it is also
known as, influenced its time period and still continues to do so today. The exile of
the Judean people led their scholars to preserve their cultural identity through the
Hebrew Bibles usage of chiasm, repetition, and kinesthetic imagery. Each literary
device was designed so the audience could memorize the details and elite could
easily pass down the stories orally. In a society where only the professional elite
read and wrote, The Bible was written down in a series of years by a serious of
these elites. It is believed to be written after the Babylonian Captivity. The Judean
people were first exiled to Babylon, and forced to assimilate into a society with a
whole other creation myth. The people of Judah were uprooted from their homes
and forced to a new land, Babylon. However, the exile ended at approximately 538
BCE when Cyrus The Great conquered Persia and released the Jews back to
Palestine. Upon return, scholars believe the first words of The Bible were written.
The first words were written because in times of grief and despair, religious growth
follows. So, when the Jews from Babylon returned home, a sense of spiritual renewal
occurred which forced the hands of scribes to document their faith, (Barton 369).

Getting The Most From Your Moving Truck Rental: 4 Ways To Maximize Efficiency
Moving isn t something anyone usually looks forward to, in terms of the packing
and hauling from one location to another, but what most people fail to do is plan
accordingly, then execute that plan with maximum efficiency. You, on the other hand,
are going to make this move a success. Here s how you re going to do it when renting
your moving truck:
1. Compare Prices And Services
Looking for a local service may be your best option; however, depending on your
specific needs, something a little further away or even closer to your new home
could work out better. Make a list of the services you re interested in, such as the

The rest of your furniture is loaded, next, meaning it should all be lined up and
ready to go, including moving all things to the first floor and/or main room closest
to the exit you ll be using. At this point in packing, you should make sure all items
are protected and secure, from placing blankets over nice furniture to tying down
items that could lodge loose during the trip. Boxes should follow all furniture and
they should be as uniform as possible, to allow for efficient stacking, and they
should be packed firmly and full. Once the truck is loaded, you should check the fuel
gauge and traffic reports, to ensure a smooth and problem free voyage.
Since all of this is much easier said than done, make a strategic operation out of the
entire moving event, by delegating responsibilities, assigning the oversight of key
elements to people you know can handle them. Make as many lists as you need, from
individual jobs to the items to be moved to a checklist of all the things you need to
take care of before signing off on your old residence. The moving company should
have a brochure or spreadsheet you can plan your successful move with. The keys
to a low stress move are planning and preparation; hence, the more you handle this
like a military operation or professional work project, the better it will go.

Individual Programmatic Assessment: Exploring a Classic Study in Social Psychology
Social psychology first examined the phenomena later termed bystander effect in
response to a 1964 murder. The murder of a young woman with as many as 38
witnesses and none who helped until it was too late. The bystander effect is
individuals seeing an emergency situation but not helping. There are many reasons
why individuals do not respond: diffusion of responsibility, not noticing or unsure if
it is an emergency, and not wanting to be liable if the person still dies are a few.

Implications and Situationism The study by Darley and Latane leaves society
with the knowledge that everyone who is witnessing an emergency is most likely
thinking the same thing someone else will call for help or has already so Always
act as if you are the only person there (Darely Latane, 1968). The concept of
situationism is the driving force behind bystander effect. Situationism is social
behavior is, to a larger extent than people commonly realize, a response to people s
social context, not a function of individual personality (Fiske, 2010, p. 7).
Individuals first have to decide if they are witnessing an emergency. Then they
need to decide if they have a responsibility to act which is when situationism comes
in. If there are hundreds of witnesses each individual see the situation from a
different perspective and responsibility to act is diffused among the crowd. On the
other hand if one individual sees an emergency and believes there is no one else to
help the responsibility rests on him or her. The context of the situation will
determine how an individual will react, but people should consider the reality of
everyone believing someone else will react and no one reacting. Kitty Genovese

The primary purpose of a Safety Data Sheet is to be able to find information about
the properties, handling, and hazards of a chemical all in one place. As a chemistry
student at UNI, these sheets are best used when read in full before handling a
chemical to ensure that you are aware of the hazards and proper protective equipment
for that particular chemical. They provide many different sections of information
about the chemical, its hazards, first aid measures to take if there is an incident with
that chemical, and more. Therefore, they aren t only used by chemistry students; they
are also used by lab workers, doctors, EMTs, firefighters, and anyone else who
needs to know about a chemical substance. These sheets should be readily available

The salary system is in ascending order in the scale of eleven job groups. The
highest paid teacher, chief principal (job group R) is at grade 11.The lowest paid

paid allowances with allocations relative to the job group standing, this include;
house allowance, commuter allowance, medical allowance, responsibility
allowances. Teachers are entitled to an automatic annual salary increase of about
4% for every year of service (Teachers Service Commission, 2012 p 1 24). Duflo et

from national surveys that indicate that 100% of teachers in public schools are paid

Glazerman et al, (2011) argue that the single salary system was created to address

on qualification and experience as opposed to the measure of teacher effectiveness

Duddy Kravitz grew up without knowledge of any better life and hustled for every
penny he made. His greed fuels his success and also causes his failures. It is
important to realize that without his greed, Duddy would not have his land.
Nevertheless, he would have a stable relationship with Yvette. The exact nature of
Duddy s greed is exhibited when he works at the Hotel Lac des Sables in Ste.
Agathe. He is tricked into acting as banker for a rigged roulette game where he
loses three hundred dollars. Owing to this failure , Duddy runs away from the
resort with shame, but Irwin (the one who swindles him) is forced to return the
money. After he receives the money from Irwin, he is welcomed by Mr. Cohen,
one of the guests, who along with other contributors has donated five hundred

Duddy rushed upstairs..... and did a few somersaults (Richler 92). He has just

childish greed. His greed drives his confidence and gives him an ego. When things

Essay For Nursing School Application. . 004 Essay Example Sample Nursing School Samples Writing An Admission ...

  • 1. Essay For Nursing School Application Crafting an essay for a nursing school application is undeniably a challenging endeavor that demands a unique blend of personal reflection, academic prowess, and a keen understanding of the nursing profession. This task requires more than just stringing together a series of well- structured sentences; it necessitates the ability to convey one's passion for nursing, articulate one's motivations, and demonstrate a genuine commitment to the field. To begin with, the challenge lies in striking a delicate balance between showcasing academic achievements and sharing personal experiences. The essay should not read like a list of qualifications but should seamlessly weave together the academic journey and the transformative moments that fueled the desire to become a nurse. This process of self-reflection can be emotionally taxing, as it involves revisiting pivotal moments in one's life and distilling them into a compelling narrative. Moreover, the essay must go beyond a mere recounting of experiences and delve into the applicant's understanding of the nursing profession. Articulating a clear and informed vision of how one sees themselves contributing to the field adds an additional layer of complexity. It requires extensive research into the specific nursing program and a nuanced understanding of the challenges and responsibilities inherent in the profession. Additionally, the limited word count imposed by most application guidelines intensifies the difficulty. The first set comes with the initial decision to invest in oil operations in Afrinia. As mentioned before, the Churchill Refinery is the only downstream operation in the West African nation. This refinery is unable to process the crude oil that is being extracted, necessitating the piping of the excess crude oil to the coastal area for export, and incapable of yielding high quality product, requiring many of the finished products from crude to be imported. In addition to this, the plant emits a lot of pollution, operates unreliably, is not maintained properly, and has a poor safety record. Economic analysis has shown that it would not be viable to build another refinery, and World Petroleumis leaning towards upgrading the current facilities to a small, complex plant. Upgrading the Churchill Refinery would be a great opportunity for the nation to

Cycle Of Terror And Tragedy Analysis To fully understand this artwork, The Cycle of Terror and Tragedy, done by artist Graydon Parrish in 2002, one must have a general understanding of the events that took place on September 11th, 2001. Because the painting is portraying the events and the aftermath to the viewer, it is understood that the audience is aware of this significant date. Parrish has a very strong stance against the actions taken on this day, as he displays this tragic event. The viewer s eye is initially drawn to the two tall screaming men in the center of the photo, used to represent the twin towers. • 12. Pension Benefits And Benefits Of Pensions The topic to be discussed in this research paper is that of pensions. Pensions are an important topic in the field of accounting due to all the specific accounting methods and procedures that go along with them as well as the fact that pensions are so widely used and can make up a large part of a company s expenses. Within the topic of pensions to be covered in this paper fall the concepts of the types of pension plans, pension obligations and plan assets, pension expense, as well as various reporting issues. Pensions Pensions are a benefit that many employees receive from their employers and come in the form of compensation that is received after they are retired (Spiceland, Sepe, Nelson, 2013). Because these pension benefits are a type of deferred compensation, there are certain ways that these benefits must be accounted for. This means that pension benefits are recognized as they are earned through an accrual basis. Aside from companies providing pension plans, people sometimes also invest in things such as IRAs, stocks, and bonds to create their own personal pension funds. The reason that many companies offer pension plans is due to the fact that they can help provide a sense of security for employees, increase employee satisfaction, or sometimes so that the company can compete better in the labor market (Spiceland et al., 2013). Types of Pension Plans Within the concept of pension plans fall two different types of pension plans: defined contribution pension plans

Staying within the tundra (both arctic and alpine) biome, the arctic fox can be found in parts of Canada, Russia, Greenland, Svalbard, and Alaska. Arctic foxes are known for their small furry bodies that are covered by a thick white or blue gray coat, short pointy ears, and bushy tails. Their coloring actually allows them to camouflage into the ice, snow, and will change to a brown /gray during the summer in order to continue camouflaging. This in turn helps them with their predatory nature. Although arctic foxes are herbivores and will eat vegetables occasionally, their primary diet is the meat from small mammals such as voles or lemmings. However, arctic foxes also feed on a variety of birds, eggs, and will sometimes eat fish. During the winter months when food is scarce, arctic foxes are known to follow polar bears and will feed off of their leftovers. Unlike other animals in the tundra, they do not

Academic Success EFFECTS ON ACADEMIC SUCCESS Although student athletes are supposed to be attending college to receive an education, for most their academic success takes a back seat to athletics. Due to the athletic stressors placed on student athletes and the demanding time commitments they have, it is difficult for them to get the best academic experience possible. It typically takes the average studentathlete six years to graduate rather than the normal four years and 88% of all student athletes obtain their degree by the age of 30 while the average student graduates by the age of 21 or 22 (Brown, 2011). Division I men s basketball players recorded a graduation rate of 67.7% and football players recorded a graduation rate of 68.6% (Grasgreen, 2011). While there are several factors that contribute to these low numbers, the time commitment placed on student athletes has the greatest impact on their lack of academic success. The time demands related to their sport makes it difficult for student athletes to completely devote themselves to their academic pursuits. After a long day of practice and training or even an athletic game, it is difficult for the athlete to have enough energy to put forth his or her best effort on his or her academics (Sharp Sheilley, 2008). When teams have an away game during the week, student athletes may not return back to campus until 1:00 or 2:00 in the

Currently, liquid amines are used industrially and while they are quite effective, they are costly, toxic, are not very recyclable, and degrade quickly. The murder of a young woman with as many as 38 witnesses and none who helped until it was too late. The bystander effect is individuals seeing an emergency situation but not helping. Implications and Situationism The study by Darley and Latane leaves society with the knowledge that everyone who is witnessing an emergency is most likely thinking the same thing someone else will call for help or has already so Always act as if you are the only person there (Darely Latane, 1968). The concept of situationism is the driving force behind bystander effect. Situationism is social behavior is, to a larger extent than people commonly realize, a response to people s social context, not a function of individual personality (Fiske, 2010, p. 7). Individuals first have to decide if they are witnessing an emergency. Then they need to decide if they have a responsibility to act which is when situationism comes in. If there are hundreds of witnesses each individual see the situation from a different perspective and responsibility to act is diffused among the crowd. On the other hand if one individual sees an emergency and believes there is no one else to help the responsibility rests on him or her. The context of the situation will determine how an individual will react, but people should consider the reality of everyone believing someone else will react and no one reacting. A review on cloud elasticity for system performance improvement and cost reduction Pancham Baruah ME CN Department of Computer Engineering DY Patil School of Engineering Technology Charoli, Pune India Abstract: Cloud Computing as a new enterprise model has become popular to provide on demand services to user as needed. Cloud Computing is essentially powerful computing paradigm to deliver services over the network. Computing at the scale of the Cloud system allows users to access the enormous resources on demand. However, a user demand on resources can be various in different time and maintaining sufficient resources to meet peak resource requirements all the time can be costly. Therefore, dynamic scalability which can also be called as elasticity is a critical key point to the success of Cloud Computing environment. Dynamic resizing is a feature which allows server to resize the virtual machine to fill the new requirement of resources in a cloud environment. Though there are enormous applications hosted on cloud now a days, but the next big thing which will be focused on will be the elasticity. In this paper, an effort has been put to explain the cloud elasticity concept and how it will benefit the Cloud implementers in reducing operation cost and also to improve the system s performance as a whole.
