Essay On World Population
Writing an essay on the topic of world population is a task that demands careful consideration of
various aspects, making it both challenging and thought-provoking. The complexity arises from
the vast scope of the subject, encompassing demographic trends, socio-economic implications,
environmental concerns, and ethical considerations.
To begin with, the sheer magnitude of global population dynamics poses a challenge. The need
to sift through extensive data, statistics, and scholarly articles to accurately portray the current
state and future projections requires meticulous research skills. The interconnected nature of
population issues with other global challenges, such as climate change, resource depletion, and
social inequality, further complicates the task. Balancing depth and breadth in addressing these
interconnected issues is a delicate art.
Moreover, the essay must navigate through the ethical dimensions associated with population
growth and control. Exploring topics like reproductive rights, family planning policies, and the
delicate balance between individual freedoms and collective well-being adds layers of
complexity to the writing process. It demands a nuanced understanding of cultural, political, and
philosophical perspectives, requiring the writer to tread carefully to present a fair and
comprehensive view.
Crafting a compelling narrative that engages the reader while presenting a well-reasoned
argument is another challenge. Striking the right balance between data-driven analysis and
persuasive storytelling is crucial. This necessitates honing not only analytical skills but also a
keen sense of rhetoric to convey the gravity of the topic effectively.
In conclusion, writing an essay on world population is a demanding task that requires a thorough
understanding of demography, environmental science, ethics, and rhetoric. It calls for a writer to
navigate a complex web of interconnected issues with precision and empathy. The ability to
synthesize diverse information, present a compelling argument, and address ethical
considerations makes this task not only difficult but intellectually stimulating.

African American Culture And Religion
When Africans arrived in the New World, they were torn from the political, social,
and cultural systems that had ordered their lives (p. 4). Albert points out that they
only thing that the Africans kept was their religion. The Africans religious were
adapted or transformed to American Christianity. Most of the African Americans
religious life was hidden from the slave master. The slaves had combined their
Muslim religion, African ethnic religion and Christianity to form Invisible Institution.
Slaves were very secretively about their religious for their safety.
Through prayer meetings, conversion experience, ring shouts, spirituals, slave

The Power Of Dracul Dracula And Dracula
how Van Helsing is still Dracula s antagonist and becomes the leader of a group to
destroy Dracula for loved ones and humanity. Although, in the movie such as
Twilight and the Underworld trilogy, the common enemy for vampires were
werewolves. In the movies, they were enemies or rivalries to see who was better, but
at the end of each movie the enemies came together to fight another enemy such as
another group of vampires or humans. Then they won the fights together, and stayed
allies but different territories for the vampires and werewolves. Overall, Van Helsing
and werewolves are the most famous enemies for Draculaor any other vampire.
Also, Dracula s power is being used to protect something he loves instead to do the
worse. The movie Dracula: Untold, Dracula s power was used to protect his
family using the same abilities as shown in the book to shape shift, strength, and
not to age. In the movie, Dracula states, Men fear monsters. They run from them.
By putting one village to the stake, I spare 10 more. Sometimes the world no
longer needs a hero, sometimes what it needs is a monster (Dracula: Untold). This
shows how Dracula became a monster for the sake of his family, and his love for his
wife could be described as stated in the book Dracula, There are darknesses in life
and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights (Stoker 196).
His love for his wife is what helped Dracula transform into a vampire to help his
loved ones and his people
Homecoming Donald Bruce Dawe Essay
Australians are known for their bravery and mateship. Defending our country at war
is a significant part of the Australian identity. Donald Bruce Dawe who was a
soldier during the Vietnam War has written about the horrors that these soldiers
faced in his poem Homecoming . Jeff Cook s Grandpa what did you do in the war?
also highlights the struggles associated with being involved in war. This piece was
written for the soldiers who returned home and the ones that lost their lives fighting
for Australia.
The title Homecoming symbolises irony because the soldiers never return home.

With the repeated use of the word to and the the audience gets to understand what
the mental state of the soldiers was like and how it would affect them in years to
come. Men who had wives and children at home, just like mine, just like my family.
This line makes the audience step into the shoes of the character in the story. It
makes them think about their family and what it must have been like for these
people to be forced to go to war. With the use of alliteration, Cook has been able to
create a rhythmic pattern of AABB in his poem. Examples of this are The Pomp the
pride I felt in the parade and lived with me month after month . Throughout the poem
lots of onomatopoeia is used to add emphasis to certain words for example thudded,

Tips For Running An Applied Behavior Analysis
The following five tips for running an applied behavior analysis business can be
utilized whether your ABA business is already established and growing or if you are
currently in the process of building your business from the ground up.
5 Tips for Running Your ABA Business
1. Succession Planning
Obviously, every ABA business needs to work on retaining their current employees;
however, neglecting to plan for absenteeism and turnover makes the life of your
loyal, healthy and happy employees more difficult. Moreover, the persons being
served may not receive the high quality care that your business strives to provide.
High Turnover Rates within the Human Service Industry Must be Addressed
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, some of the highest employee turnover
rates occur within the human service industry and applied behavior analysis therapy
rests directly in the center of this arena. For this reason, ABA business owners must
accept the fact that employees will leave. However, this undeniable reality can be
prepared for through the creation of a comprehensive plan designed to address
unexpected employee turnover. Furthermore, employee absenteeism due to
unpredictable life events (i.e., illness, injuries, emergencies, etc.) can also be
prepared for while creating this plan. Succession Planning, Defined Succession
planning can be defined as simply building a talent pool that consists of employees
who have leadership qualities. You need to identify the
How To Buy a Product Safely on the Internet
Because innovative technologies have transformed the world, and created an easy
access to computers, the Internet has revolutionized traditional shopping, from a
brick and mortar status to E commerce. Today, a consumer can avoid errands and buy
almost everything without living the comfort of his or her home. The author of this
paper, ventured in the experience as an online naГЇve customer, provides a guideline
of how to shop safely on line for the first time. First, the paper covers the basic
precautions and steps of where to search for buying a camcorder online from a
specific merchant, a shopping portal, and a comparison shopping site. Secondly, the

My First Day At School
I entered the school and the hot air hits my face. There are lots of people there,
smiling. I didn t know if it was a fake smile, but it made me feel welcomed. I went
into the office to get my schedule. When I got it I went directly to my Science
classroom and sat in my seat. The teacher called me up to introduce myself. Great,
just what I wanted, to make a fool out of myself on the first day. My face felt numb
and I wanted to go home. I went up and felt my voice struggling to get out, my
body trembling as if I just fell into a tub of water. My first words came out
M.....M.....My name s Jeff. At that moment I thought that I was done for, I was
walking back to my seat, and I thought that I heard laughter. My face went red hot,
and I thought that I was going to flip out, I just held it all in and started to listen as
the teacher talked.
My skin went hot and red. I just wanted to go back home. I sat in my seat and
listened as the teacher talked, trying hard not to make any eye contact, then it
happened, the bell rang it was lunchtime, the other worst possible thing that could
happen, I didn t know where to sit, I hadn t made any friends. I went to the cafe and
let my eyes gaze over the people that were there. Then I heard, Jeff, over here, the
thing that I was least expecting, happened, I got invited to sit with them. We talked
and ate, after that, we went outside, it was cold and made my hands numb and dry, I
asked them if we could go inside, but they said that they wanted
The Flynn Effect And Nutrition

The Flynn Effect is the tendency of IQ scores to change over time, and specifically,
the apparent increase in intelligence in the general population evidenced by a steady
increase in IQ scores. It was first noticed by James Flynn (The Flynn Effect). As years
went by and IQ tests were restandardized, it was noticed that when previous tests
were taken the outcomes were better on the previous tests than the tests that were in
current circulation. The Flynn Effect has a number of factors that can attribute to the
effect taking place. One factor in particular that has been discussed by many different
people is the factor of overall better nutrition. Overall better nutrition has occurred in
many places over the last 100 years or so. This improvement has been linked to head
growth, earlier maturation of children, increased height, and faster growth
(Williams). Increased head growth most likely means that human brains are growing
which can subsequently be linked to the increased intelligence that is proven by IQ
scores. The earlier maturation and faster growth of children can also be linked to how
a population s intelligence improves over many years. The Flynn Effect and nutrition
are related through the correlation of increased intelligence and increased overall
nutrition. The effects of the Flynn effect on nutrition and vice versa are extensive. The

Our generation is not properly socialized to look out for or help one another, we are

In the process, people have often failed to help people who desperately needed it.
I read in the Kensington Express of May 2016 that a girl who was attacked at the
McDonald s in Bruma. Luckily there was lots of video footage to catch her attacker.
But hey, wait! Why did the bystanders not just in and help her fend off the attacker?
It seems exceptionally inhumane to stand by and record these types of incidents
instead of making any effort to rectify the situation. It s one thing to want to provide
evidence, it s another to ignore a human being in need.
Social media has the capacity to empower us, and in many ways already has. We ve
seen where people who mean you harm will duck away from not being recorded.
However, social media a paradox as it makes you more antisocial, we are less
connected, more narcissistic and increasingly disengaged.
We have a choice. We can continue to use the Internet and social media as a means
of bringing about social change and innovation, or we can allow it to disintegrate into
a platform for vanity and
Fallen Angels In America
Fallen Angels in America Tony Kushner s play Angels in America was set in the
1980s, amid Ronald Reagan s administration. Many people believe that this play is
political, since we hear a significant amount about Reagan. Additionally, his
administration has been largely criticized for its negligence toward the AIDS crisis.
Furthermore, numerous LGBT activists have blamed Reagan for overlooking the
epidemic since it was thought to be, for the most part, a disease that primarily
affected gay men and, perhaps not surprising, African Americans. Although, Tony
Kushner s Angels in America primarily focused on the AIDS epidemic in the United
States, Kushner masterfully used themes of political, racial, religious, hopelessness
and whiteness, to unload the more profound complexities inside the political views of
the LGBTQ development... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Consequently, for reasons unknown, a great deal. One fascinating association
between these two characters is the way they are both attached to the topic of
Renditions of Reality. Throughout the play, Prior experienced abnormal dreams
while Harper, the Mormon housewife of Joe Pitt, is engaged in discussions with
an imaginary friend, Mr. Lies. These two characters exist in another reality that is
different from the rest of the cast. For example, in one scene Prior and Harper meet
in some sort of weird joint dream. They do not know each other, yet share this odd
and intense experience. In this scene, the two characters support each other to
understand their essential truths: Harper helps Prior see that even though he feels
dejected and hopeless, some part of him is not tainted while Prior reveals to Harper
that her husband is a homosexual. Harper clarifies that occasionally you can see
things when you are on the threshold of revelation (Kushner 33). This is the space
where truths are revealed and secrets are
The Greek Mythology Of Women
The Greeks most important legacy is not being pioneers in democracy as we would
think: it is their mythology. In general, we only know what male writers tell us
women thought, because there were little to no women writers. However, the Greeks
attributed to women a capacity for understanding that we do not always find in the
other great literary traditions such as the Bible . Ancient Greek mythologydepicts
women as a source of creation of the mythological universe, the creation of multi
gendered immortals, and the knowledgeable and powerful personalities attributed
to women in ancient Greek mythology. Many popular Greek plays contain several
well written, complex, female characters. These women were depicted as the role
of villain, victim, and even the role of heroine, showing the diversity in which
women were seen in both mythology and ancient Greek society. We do not give
much credit to the Greeks for their balanced view of women s abilities. The first
reason is that many of the original meanings get lost by translations and retelling1,
similar to the game Telephone. Secondly, myths tend to be misunderstood due to the
concerns and beliefs of our own society1. But were women fairly represented as
powerful in ancient Greek mythology? We often think of women as troublesome,
conniving, and all around negative; but I believe their representations in Greek
society and myth prove to be misunderstood.
Throughout Greek mythology, women are considered subservient, negative and

Frank Dikotter s Race Culture
Eugenics is the science of cultivating a human population by controlling breeding to
expand the amount of wanted heritable characteristics. Frank Dikotter s Race Culture:
Recent
Perspectives on the History of Eugenics talked about the importance and relevance of
Eugenics in our culture. Eugenics was a vital part of several social movements in the
twentieth century that was linked to topics such as race, sex, hygiene, and more.
Eugenics was talked about widely like other important matters like, sex education,
public health, and other related topics. That talk was not always positive as some
information about eugenics led to social fears and moral panics.
This reaction led to the creation of several laws.
The first country to pass a law that was a result of efforts to apply eugenic policies
was, the Scandinavian country of Denmark. In 1929, Denmark passed a sterilization

Other countries in Scandinavia also passed similar laws that were pushed by
officials from the government and doctors who were the head of psychiatric
hospitals and institutions for mentally disabled. The eugenic movement also became
popular in isolated and provincial parts here in the United States a couple decades
ago. In the United States, people who were mentally disabled were the main target
for eugenic practices. As cited from Ian Dowbiggin s Keeping America Sane, he
highlights the reasons why the psychiatric appeal to eugenics.
The examples of Scandinavian countries and parts of America showed that scientific
knowledge was not necessary for the spread of eugenic practices. The observation
was that this was unevenly spread across the world. This is because there were
probably more researchers active in cities in Asia like Tokyo and Shanghai, and even
Bombay. But nonetheless, the idea of eugenics had very powerful effects on humans
throughout the modern
The Different Methods Of Communication
In general, there are two different methods of communication. First, verbal messages
occur face to face, by telephone, in writing and via computer assistance (Payne). The
second method is nonverbal messages which occur through the use of facial
expressions, tone of voice, physical gestures and distance/touching and the use of
silence. Nonverbal communicationis arguably the most complex method of
communication. For example, we often gesture with our hand and fingers the A OK
(Figure 4). Unfortunately, the same gesture takes on a very different meaning in
other cultures. In Japan the gesture means money, in Russia it is the equivalent of
zero and Brazil is considered an insult. Therefore, a thorough understanding these
cultural differences is a crucial element of success for organizations conducting
business in these countries. Aside from the methods of communication, cultural
characteristics play a part in the process of international communication. Generally
speaking, countries fall into the category of either high or low context cultures. A
high context culture is one which values personal knowledge, experience or depth of
relationships, whereas a low context cultures are basically impersonal. As it relates to
communications, low context cultures rely on the spoken word and high context
cultures rely on tone and non verbal communication (Figure 5). Notably, high context
cultures only rely on 7% of the spoken word with the remaining 93% divided between

Baby Hats
This semester I made 4 newborn baby hats in 8 hours with Mrs. Llewellyn. Mrs.
Llewellyn taught me to crochet last semester but since then I have been able to
know about the families that receive these baby hats. She told me about how some
of the families can t afford things they need so making baby hats for their new baby
makes them happy because they know someone is thinking about them. This made
me interested in doing more service work not just making baby hats but visiting the
nursing home and shoveling snow for my neighbors. After doing these things I felt
very good about myself for helping others. The only thing that surprised me was
how little of time to make a baby hat. Even when I had some spare time I could get a

I learned that not all people can afford to buy new stuff for their newborn babies.
Many families in our community are struggling to make ends meet. There is a big
difference between those who have more than they need and those that don t. I hope
that by giving a baby hat, that a family can buy something else they will need for
the baby like diapers. This project address those needs because it gives that family
something they might need but can not afford. Other work to address this need is
happening at Goodwill and the Clothes Bank. They also help people that don t have
a lot of money get the clothes they need. I can apply this learning in my life by
making baby hats and donating the clothes I don t wear, need, or don t fit to
Goodwill or The Clothes Bank. I learned more about the Clothes Bank and how
they help people in need from my aunt Nancy. I could also help address this need by
asking my parents or peers if they would want to help make baby hats or ask if we
could go to the Clothes Bank and see what we could do to help. I could tell them
that many people can t afford their own clothes and that we need to give back
because we have so much more than the people in need. I will make more baby
hats this summer and I would like to tell my family and friends more about it the
need for clothes in our community. This activity was a lot of fun but it also helped
me learn about the people who can not
The Pros And Cons Of Foreign Workers In Brunei
Foreign workers (not citizen) are employed and hired in Brunei can be categorized
as highly skill or low skill worker and legal or illegal worker. There are prominent
aspects that foreign workers would benefits and bring costs to Brunei. Most
countries in South East Asia, the development of the economy have been assisted by
the foreign workers. However, last year, the government in Brunei announced on the
policy of restrictions on foreign labor which had implemented in phases from June
2014. The ministry regulates the number of foreign workers as they took up about
30% of total population in Brunei. There is large number of foreign workers in the

As the locals have the opportunities to fill up the available vacancy job as the
employers prefer hiring foreigners. This policy encourages Brunei not to be too
reliant on the foreigners which could cause the downfall of the country. Also, not
all foreign workers in Brunei are illegal but in some cases, the workers are illegal
and it may cause the government to take burden that is cause by them. As new
policy are implemented, the government no longer need to pay the cost of the
illegal foreigners that are detained and it will also reduce the cost of sending them
back to their own country. In conjunction with the new policy of restricting foreign
workers, the government announces an increase in the levy on foreign workers of
$960 when employing foreign workers to fill up the vacancies falling under 90
general job positions under the five business sectors (wholesale retail trade, transport,
hotel restaurant, support services and Information Communication System). As the
levy is paid by the employer, the increase is designed to make employment of
foreign workers in Brunei more expensive which will discourage the employers from

Assisted Reproduction Technologies Pros And Cons
As the years, have progressed, the sensation for science has increased, as well as the
aspiration for technology. Because of this, many new ideas and innovation have been
brought to us, such as the development of ART, Assisted Reproductive Technology.
The use of Assisted Reproductive Technologies has been brought to allow
pregnancies to be effectuated when the natural way is not option. The interest for
unnatural pregnancybegan in the early 1800s when John Hunter, a Scottish surgeon
inseminated a woman with her husband s sperm. Due to this incidence, later in the
late 1800s, the idea for sperm donation sprouted. From there on, the curiosity for
other ways to succeed in unnatural pregnancies devolved rapidly. One of these ways

Taking a Look at Wetlands
What is it? Where is it?
Wetlands are an eco system that is home to both native and foreign species,
especially waterbirds and are wet some of the time. The inter tidal wetlands of
Bicentennial Park may be threatened by the quality of the fresh and salt water that
flushes them as a result of the human activities in the catchment and Waterways. In
this report, we will explore the mangrove wetlands in Bicentennial Park, Olympic
Park, Homebush. The sixty five hectare Badu Mangroves are listed in the Directory
of Important Wetlands in Australia and is an ecologically significant estuarine wetland
system. The wetland was created because of a series of land reclamation over
several decades, including extensive mangrove stands, open water waterbird refuge
and an estuarine creek system. The park offers a variety of pathways and
boardwalks for spectacular viewing opportunities, allowing the animals to live
peacefully while the wetland system can be enjoyed and studied. The Waterbird
Refuge is rich in bird life, and provides habitat for large numbers and species of birds,
including migratory species protected under international agreements.
What s polluting the mangroves and how is it being solved?

Personal Statement Of Purpose A River Padma
River Padma, the biggest and most raging river of Bangladesh, is only twenty
kilometers from the village where I grew up hearing about the sinking of locally
manufactured launch which regularly took a toll of thousands of lives. I just
always asked myself why this type of accident happens. As the Padma has
alienated the southern part of our country from the other regions, it is a must for
people in those areas to cross the river to reach the capital city, Dhaka. In the year
of 2008 when I first came to Dhaka, I had a bitter experience of observing such

Why Did King Henry Viii Die
King Henry VIII was a king of England until his death in April 21, 1509. Many
people thought of King Henry as an un mighty ruler. He used to marry a new wife
every day, and chop off her head next morning. And he would do it just as
indifferent as if he was ordering up eggs. When someone mentions King Henry
VIII, one would usually think of all of his wives. All though his wives died when
he was in reign, he did not kill all of them. The fates of the wives can be
remembered as Divorced, beheaded, died; divorced, beheaded, survived. King Henry
wasn t all that terrible though. His personality was quite amazing; his intelligence,
learning, and curiosity impressed even the world weary ambassadors who littered his
court. He was just terrible closer
Why We Need Heroes in Movies
Thomas Fuselier
Why do we need heroes?
Professor James Winters
While they may be very different from one another almost every movie must have
some type of hero. Screen writers and movie directors must constantly develop
these different types of heroes to please the many different attitudes and opinions of
movie goers. Movie enthusiast all have different reasons for liking the movie heroes
they do and it is up to the screen writers, actors, and directors to successfully please
the movies target audience. Numerous studies have tried to reveal just exactly what
people consider a hero to be. In a study discussed in the course packet the results
show that terms such as intelligent, loving, and leader are some of the most

In real life the underdog is hardly ever victorious so movie writers create these
underdog heroes to fulfill the audiences desire to see the underdog actually win
once and a while. Movies that show the underdog as triumphant give real people
hope that even though one may be up against a much more powerful foe, it is
possible to come out on top. Superheroes first became extremely popular within the
pages of comic books so it was only natural that film makers adopted the idea of
superheroes into movies as well. People flock to superhero movies to satisfy their
need for fantasy. Superhero movies frequently depict an average Joe who is
somehow given amazing super human powers that real men and women have
been fantasizing about for years. When thinking about movies that follow this
sequence of events, the first movie that comes to my mind is Spider Man. The
movie starts out by showing the main character as a weak and nerdy high school
student, but a field trip to a research lab changed his life forever. He is bitten by a
spider that gives him super human powers that he uses to fight crime and injustice.
Viewers are enticed by movies like Spiderman because they wish that they could
actually obtain these super human powers too. While many people would like
these powers to have the ability to better society, many would also enjoy the powers
for more cynical uses. Many people can relate to the feeling of being weak and
helpless, so seeing heroes like Spiderman in the
Lady Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises Essay
Lady Brett Ashley was a very important character in the book The Sun Also Rises.
She had it all, she was pretty, and she had four guys ogling over her. Four guys!!!!
She was independent, she could do whatever she wanted. She was definitely not
sympathetic however, nore would she be a good role model for anyone because
yes, she does treat her male friends cruelly. Lets start with her relationships with the
guys. She can basically get whatever she wants, they will do anything for her,
because they find her so attractive. Even if they want something in return, she will
be happy to give it to them, she has it all. However that is all she does, she moves
from guyto guy like she does not even care. Which by the way, she does not.
Basically,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was unlike anything they had ever seen or would ever get to see again. She was
different, but in a good way. She was one of them. Mike once compared her to circe,
a character in a Greek myth who lured in men and then she transformed them into
animals. Brett just wants sex without love, instead of the other way around like Jake.
Brett had good and bad qualities. She was not all bad. I personally would not pick her
for a role model but I will admit she had some admirable qualities. For example, the
way she changed over the course of the novel. At first she did not really care about
anyone or anything but herself. Then she began to realize what she did to people
and she began to consider the feeling a of others as well as her own. If her
relationship with Pedro had occurred at the beginning of the novel, she probably
would have given no thought to what effects their relationship would have on him.
However, by the end of the novel she had gained the understanding to know that he
should do what is right, put away her own feelings, and leave him for his own
good. She could be used as a role model because of her liberty. She is never tied
down, as if she is floating in the breeze, aimlessly wandering from place to place.
She does not conform. She does what she wants when she wants and does not let
other people tell her what to do. She is dependent on no one in the sense that she
does not care what others think. However, at the same time, she is

Only Goodness By Jhumpa Lahiri
Indian Americans have been described as a distinguished minority in terms of their
successful careers, middle class aspiration and work ethic. Chaubey highlights the
notion of diasporic Indians shedding their linguistic, regional and religious identities
with statements like It is arguable that one is more easily an Indian abroad than in

What Are The Similarities Between Sequoia And Kings

The Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks are two of the most famous
national parks in the Sierra Nevada Range. The Sierra Nevada range is located in
California along the North American Plate. This range sits to the right of the San
Andreas Fault and the Pacific Plate. Some referred to these parks as The Land of
Giants which turns out to fit them quite well. The parks get this name due to the
huge mountains, endless canyons and the world s largest trees they are home for (
Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, USA Today). The Sequoia National Park
was founded on September 25th, 1890, making it the second oldest park in the
United States, and Kings Canyon National Park was established March 4th, 1940.
The two parks are adjacent to one another and stretch over approximately 865,964
acres, which a little less than 97% is woods and wilderness. These are large tourist
attractions and provide a treasured experience many people value greatly in their
lives. The reason it is such a treasured experience to tourists is because of the many
special aspects of the park that include the Giant Forest of Sequoias as well as Mount
Whitney. Mount Whitney is known for having the highest peak south of Alaska at
14,494 feet above sea level ( Sequoia and Kings Canyon National Parks, National

geological features in common. One of these features is that they both have
mountains that are part of the longest

Blueberries have been shown to improve both spatial memory and BDNF (brain

that it is the flavonoids that are responsible for the increase.

True Appalachian Culture
Appalachians are individuals living in the heart of the mountainous region known as
Appalachia: an area stretching from Pennsylvania to Mississippi, touching thirteen
states, and home to an estimated 25 million people. (Porter) Throughout history,
their portrayal in films and television shows has taken on a stereotypical role. This
includes the classic tropes of hillbillies and uncivilized individuals. Appalachians
have always been labeled as hillbillies who are lawless, violent and morally and
sexually deprived. That representation is incorrect and it doesn t do justice to the true
Appalachian culture. The culture isn t different than any other in the sense that it
represents the lives of individuals living in a particular area
Wind In Lord Of The Flies Analysis
In the allegorical novel Lord of the Flies by William Golding, a group of boys get
in a plane crash on a deserted island and it becomes the ultimate race for survival.
The boys decided to vote for a chief, but there is discord because everyone doesn t
respect his leadership. The events that follow result in two factions which changes the
island into a tense battle between opposing groups, that work against each other, and
result in tragic consequences. The elements of nature including windair and humidity
reveal the shift between cooperation and fighting. These elements change to reveal
the author s message message that a crisis brings out the insignificance of mankind
and his or her resourcefulness. Wind, air and humidity change from calm and
peaceful which reflect the boy s initial feeling on the island, to stronger winds which
reflects the disagreements between the boys , then to powerful thunderstorms storms,
rocks crashing and huge gusts of winds that reflects the struggle for life and death .
Even though wind, air and humidity don t seem initially seem significant, reading
below the surface, these elements of nature provide foreshadowing of further events.
In the beginning of Lord of the Flies, wind air and humidity have roles in setting the
mood and tone that change throughout the book. Although the boys were nervous
and scared when they first got on the island, they start to appreciate the scenery and
enjoy the beauty of nature and it allowed a little
Analysis Of The Painting Course Of Empire Destruction
By...
Destruction is an exterior of tragedy that may come in many forms. When people
hear the word destruction they may think of their own personal experience of
destruction or tragedy. That may range from a house being torn apart by a tornado
to a loss of a family member or president being assassinated. The effects of
destruction are tremendous and terrible. That could affect one to thousands of
people at a time resulting in massively spread pain and suffering. In the painting
Course of Empire Destruction, by Thomas Cole (1836), there is a mass tragedy
being painted. The tragedy being painted is the Vandals attack on Rome in 455. The
pain and devastation was captured in this painting perfectly, through many colors and
symbols, which affected thousands of people in many different ways. Cole used
many techniques to show the enemy warriors taking over the town. Cole s use of color
and symbols reflect the destruction of the town. In the painting, Cole uses many
colors and symbols to illustrate the effect of the attack. An old sandy color bridge is
cast upon the middle of the painting, which is crumbling apart and crashing into the
water. The water in this painting is dark blue and whiteshowing the choppiness of
the water. In the middle of the painting is a white statue with its head broken off, but
still standing, holding a black shield leaning forward towards the center of the
painting. In the background, fire and gray and black smoke cover the landscape. The

Analysis Of Lewis And The World Of Wonder
C.S. Lewis and the World of Wonder The Story Behind The Chronicles of Narnia
Raindrops splashed against the glass; but Jack stared past them, far beyond to the
Green Hills. So beautiful. So unreachable. Jack was born in Ireland in 1898, before
most people had cars. They had no televisions and no radios. The world was big
and wonderful and mysterious. Jack s real name was Clive Staples Lewis, but he
didn t like that name. Would you? He picked the name Jack. He made everyone
call him Jack. If someone called him Clive, he would not answer. When Jack was
six, his family moved. The New House was huge, with empty rooms, long
hallways, and dusty attics. Imagine exploring a house like that. Jack also liked
exploring books. His mother and father loved to read, and they saved all their
books. They filled the New House with books books in the study, in bedrooms, and
on the stair landing, books in the attic piled up to Jack s shoulders. Oh, the splendid
hours he spent reading! On rainy afternoons these books transported him to different
times and different worlds. Jack made up his own country called Animal Land. The
animals wore clothes and talked and ruled the land. Jack s older brother Warnie
wrote stories about India with trains and steamships. Jack and Warnie combined their
countries into one country called Boxen. They wrote about Boxen together. Then
Warnie left for a boarding school in England. One hundred years ago, when Jack was

Interpreting the Handmaid s Tale
Interpreting The Handmaid s Tale
The Handmaid s Tale is distinguished by its various narrative and structural divisions.
It contains four different levels of narrative time: the pre Revolution past, the time of
the Revolution itself, the Gileadean period, and the post Gileadean period (LeBihan
100). In addition, the novel is divided into two frames, both with a first person
narrative. Offred s narrative makes up the first frame, while the second frame is
provided by the Historical Notes, a transcript of a lecture given by a Cambridge
professor. The distinctions in structure and narrative perspective parallel the
separation of Gileadean residents into different social roles.
Offred s narrative is mainly of the Gileadean period, but ... Show more content on

In the instance of women in the novel, this power comes from their indispensable
role in the propagation of society. As Offred tells her story, she incorporates the
stories of other women into her narrative. Her voice multiplies to become the voice
of women rather than the voice of a single narrator (133). Thus, The Handmaid s Tale
isn t just Offred s protest against her oppressive condition, but the collective protest of
every woman.
The Historical Notes comprising the second frame of the novel provide an important
shift in perspective. The Notes are a transcript of a lecture given by the professor,
Darcy Pieixoto, at an academic symposium on Gileadean Studies two hundred years
after Gilead has become ancient history. The reader finds out that Pieixoto and his
colleague are the ones responsible for the transcription and editing of the handmaid s
story. (As it turns out, Offred s account is not actually written, but recorded onto
cassette tapes). Pieixoto treats Offred s story in a scientific and detached manner.
For him, her account is merely a resource for gaining knowledge of the former
Gilead Republic.
The shift from Offred as narrator to Pieixoto as narrator does two things. First, it
signifies Offred s inability to make her voice heard; the voice of the male narrator in
the last part of the novel threatens to drown out Offred s voice and the significance of
her autobiography. Secondly, it leaves readers with the challenge of

The most concerning threat USPS faces is the rise in operating expenses,
particularly the increase in energy prices and health insurance premiums. Energy
prices are at all time highs. With USPS dependency in both, air and ground
transportation, energy prices will play a major role in the company s budget.
USPS is part of the Federal Employee Health Benefit program and premiums for
these benefits have steadily increased over the last couple of years. For example,
premiums increased in 2003 by 11.1%. Health benefit payments increased 14% in
2003 from 2002, and by 15.8% in 2004 from 2003 levels.... Show more content on

Long Term Action Plan USPS should gradually replace their aging delivery
vehicles with hybrid or electric vehicles to reduce delivery costs and dependency on
gas. A hybrid vehicle not only saves the Postal Service32 40% on fuel costs (roughly
$1200/car/year based on 30k miles), depending on the vehicle, but USPS would
also receive a $3,000 tax incentive on every vehicle. In cities, electric vehicles or
SMART cars could be used since delivery routes are shorter with frequent stops.
Aside from being fuel efficient, they adhere to the ever stricter emissions rules. With
well over 200,000 postal vehicles currently in the system, savings would approach
the $1billion mark. Since USPS has monopoly in Standard Mail, prices in this sector
should be raised while prices in the package delivery sector should be lowered,
albeit marginally, in order to attract higher market share. A raise in first class
postage of a little over 8% to $.40 is presently being reviewed. Higher revenues
would result from the newly raised prices in the monopolized Standard Mail
market, while higher volume sales from the package delivery segment would boost
revenues. USPS should first appeal to the US government to leave the Federal
Employee Health Benefit program. Then, USPS should research other health plans
that are more cost efficient, whether it be a new carrier in the private sector, a
change in benefits coverage or alter the level of an employees contribution to

Why Is The Dust Bowl Bad
The Dust Bowl
Today I am going to be talking about the Dust Bowl it was a tragic event but it
reshaped America for the better. The Dustbowl wrecked havoc to the economy and
people s life but in the end, it was resolved through careful planning. The Dust Bowl
was a natural disaster that affected millions of people and changed their life forever
but leads the leaders of the US to use their minds to fix this disaster.
The Dust Bowl was a historic event that happened is the 1930 s it was caused by a
few key contributors. One of the first big factors is that a drought set in and it
wasn t an ordinary drought it was a super drought. It lasted a very long time and
would just not go away. The drought caused the ground to become extremely dry
and brittle therefore it caused the ground to become really easy to be blown away.
Another reason is that the farmers were not using crop rotation. Which is where you
only use one field for half the year, not the full year. When they did this it gave the

The dust bowl caused a lot of problems one of the main problems was the dust
storms which were like blizzards but with dust. The storms caused things to be
buried alive people cower in fear and try not to suffocate in the blinding stinging
storms. The storms were so thick that if you ventured out into them you would
suffocate in them. Some other physical impacts were that the soil became very dry
during the drought and the crops rotted because there was no rain and it was very
hot and dry. Because it was so dry the crops shriveled up and they became inedible.
Also, the dust bowl caused many people to move to a new state because they had no
shelter from the impending storm. Around 2.5 million people vacated their former
home state and traveled to new states to do anything. But the real problem was that
there were so many people trying to get a job there was just not enough jobs to go
Compare And Contrast Florentine Art In The Quattrocento
In the 15th Century, Italy was the hub of the arts, humanism, technological
innovations and science. This period is commonly referred to as the Renaissance, and
it is stated that Florence was in the heart of it, although Venice was also prominent in
its artistic development. In this essay, the characteristics of Florentine and Venetian
art in the Quattrocento will be analysed, and a comparison and contrast between the
two will be conducted.
In the Quattrocento, Italy was divided into different city states, such as Florence,
Venice, Milan and Siena , amongst others, each ruled by its own government. In this
essay, the focus will be on Florence and Venice and smaller cities which were
influenced by their artists. The Renaissance started in Florence, a few years after the
year 1400 . The 15th Century in Italy, also known as the Quattrocento , is often
described as being an era in which there was an increase in abundance and ... Show

The two artists were essential in the development of Florentine art, whereby
Donatello, influenced by Classical antiquity, soon became the best sculptor of his
time, by depicting figures larger than life, such as his St. George Tabernacle, which
is full of movement and realism; St. George s expression sombre, and his pose
naturalistic . On the other hand, Brunelleschi discovered one point perspective, in
turn influencing young artists like Masaccio, whose fresco The Holy Trinity was
revolutionary, as it included all that Ghiberti, Donatello and Brunelleschi had
discovered: drama, realism, emotion and depth, and made use of classical elements.
Such characteristics were to be the basis of Florentine art, which may be
distinguished from attention to design and focus on perspective, and attention to
facial expressions and gestures , and sometimes made references to classical
architecture or subjects like
Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Media
Ryff and Keyes (1995) propose psychological well being to be composed of six
elements: self acceptance; positive relations; autonomy; environmental mastery;
purpose in life and a sense of personal growth. This suggests that there are a variety
of ways in which an individual s wellbeing may be affected and provides insight into
how vulnerable individuals can be to environmental factors which may alter their
state of well being. Research proposes that social media an online environment in
which individuals can communicate and share their views with a wide audience
(Kaplan Haenlein, 2010) can have an effect on well being through its implications on
self esteem Valkenburg, Peter Schouten, 2006) as an individual s self esteem may

This insinuates that social media can have both beneficial and detrimental effects on
self esteem. Correlational research has further confirmed that there is a significant
relationship between the type of responses received and self esteem (Greitemeyer,
MГјgge Bollermann, 2014). However, the classification of the feedback as either
positive or negative is problematic as these terms describe a spectrum of feedback.
For example, a like and a comment are both forms of positive feedback, but one
requires more effort than the other so is a more genuine form of feedback.
Therefore these researchers have presented some evidence that social media can
affect self esteem which in turn effects well being and that those effects may be
harmful in nature, providing support for the notion that social media can be bad for
psychological well being in some cases.
On the other hand, longitudinal research has shown that found that positive feedback
on social media from peers was only related to short term increases in self esteem.
This suggests that social media only momentarily alters self esteem and that the
effects of these changes in self esteem are not enduring (Valkenburg, Koutamanis

The Value Of Foreign Currency
Fluctuations in the value of foreign currency impose a direct cost on foreign
airlines as crude oil is purchased in accordance with the US dollar to which it is
pegged. Airline companies in North America, which are associated with the SPDR
S P Transportation ETF, benefit from the fact that crude oil prices are denominated
in U.S. dollars; as opposed to airlines from other regions that are susceptible to
fluctuations in the exchange rate as well as the overall price of crude oil per barrel.
For example, Brazilian airlineGol Linhas AГ©reas Inteligentes s fuel costs accounted
for 42% of its operating costs, in comparison to its US rivals such as American
Airlines and Delta Airlines. (IATA, 2015)2.2.2 Interest Rates

Reasonable inflation and interest rates as well as relatively low unemployment have
also contributed to the evolving middle class. Members of this class tend to have the
financial wherewithal to fly rather than relying on slower transportation by sea. Per
capita income is steadily raising as in personal disposable income (Boeing,
2015).Low interest rates decidedly influence commercial aircraft enterprises on the
grounds that they prompt the speculation of new innovation and capital. This will
build the rate of return and expand the estimation of the base and administrations at
lower expenses, which will affect better quality and higher interest, which will
fiscally advantage the commercial aircraft ventures as the inflation rate will be low.
If the interest rates go up it will affect the inflation adversely (Ahuja, 2007) 2.2.3
Health Safety
Health and safety is a vital factor that must be considered and monitored on a daily
basis. There are adequate rules and regulations to ensure the health and safety of the
users and the employees. One situation where this occurred was during the 2010
Eyjafjallajökull volcano eruption in Iceland. This natural event had a detrimental
effect on the airline industry, after the eruption due to a giant cloud of ash that could
have damaged the engines. The situation mention earlier demonstrates that Instrument
Flight Rules (IFR) was in effect (BBC news, 2010).

Carrie Mae s Weems In Her Kitchen Table Series
Contemporary art refers to art being produced and celebrated within current living
generations, however it is more than that to the artist, it is a means to interact and
communicate with modern society in new and exciting ways. A majority of these
artists want to challenge racial stereotypes, call in to question the strict dualistic
quality of gender, question political leadership, remark on the brutalities of war and
its lasting effects on society, and confront consumerist society, but above all else
contemporary artebbs at modern reality and pushes for societal changes. Artist seek to
resolve these issues through their art and effectively use several reoccurring themes
such as, identity, commodities, memory, place, body, and spirituality

By depicting the same space and central figure repetitively she is creating an
intimate space for the viewers to interact and relate with thus making her depictions
more relatable and her message more impactful to the audience. In several of her
photographs there is a young girl that is presumed to be her daughter, in one shot they
sit together applying makeup something seen as a motherly thing. There is an
assortment of pictures with the young girl, one where it seems she is being punished,
on where she reads alongside her mother at the table. It is important to note the wall
behind the figures in cases where her daughter is present there are no wall hangings,
pictures, or decorations while in other photographs there are photographs and hanging
tapestries. This is Weems subtle way of drawing the viewers attention solely to the
interaction of mother and child and that important part of her
The Impact of Religion on the Development of Colonial
America
Compare the ways in which religion shaped the development of colonial society (to
1740) in TWO of the following regions: New EnglandChesapeakeMiddle Atlantic
The Impact of Religion on the Development of Colonial America During the
seventeenth century, colonial America was welcoming many newcomers, several
from England. Quantities of these newcomers were seeking land for economic
purposes as others were longing for religious toleration. Many of the English
colonists settled in the New England region for religious freedoms, to escape the
English king, and leave adversaries of other religions behind. Settlers who resided in
the Middle Atlantic region were affected differently. Although the Middle Atlantic

Economically, a large amount of money was spent on building new churches and
financial aid was given to ministers. Massachusetts was the first colony to tax
residents to support the Congressionalist Church. Also, during the Great Awakening,
churches were making attempts to return those individuals who roamed away from
the church. The Great Awakening was a revival caused by Jonathon Edwards
during the enlightenment time period. The purpose of this revival was to inspire
communities to become more religiously involved as pastors were feeling distant
from god because of the lack of interest in religion at the time. The Great Awakening
undermined the Old Clergy and increased both the number and competiveness of
churches. Thousands of books were published and sold to bring the churches profit
and therefore allowed more money to aid in the churches construction. Socially,
religion brought people together. People of the same religion often worked better
together which resulted in a stronger and closer community. Schools were developed
for children to learn to read the bible and to teach young men leadership. In the New
England region, dominance was shown with an impressive number of graduates,
greatly excelling the southern colonies. Religion was so vital to these early colonists
that it greatly affected social development, schooling, and even various basic rights
we take for granted today. In Colonial America, one must have been a member

Essay On World Population. वश्व जनसंख्य दवस पर नबंध Essay on World Population Day in Hindi

  • 1. Essay On World Population Writing an essay on the topic of world population is a task that demands careful consideration of various aspects, making it both challenging and thought-provoking. The complexity arises from the vast scope of the subject, encompassing demographic trends, socio-economic implications, environmental concerns, and ethical considerations. To begin with, the sheer magnitude of global population dynamics poses a challenge. The need to sift through extensive data, statistics, and scholarly articles to accurately portray the current state and future projections requires meticulous research skills. The interconnected nature of population issues with other global challenges, such as climate change, resource depletion, and social inequality, further complicates the task. Balancing depth and breadth in addressing these interconnected issues is a delicate art. Moreover, the essay must navigate through the ethical dimensions associated with population growth and control. Exploring topics like reproductive rights, family planning policies, and the delicate balance between individual freedoms and collective well-being adds layers of complexity to the writing process. It demands a nuanced understanding of cultural, political, and philosophical perspectives, requiring the writer to tread carefully to present a fair and comprehensive view. Crafting a compelling narrative that engages the reader while presenting a well-reasoned argument is another challenge. Striking the right balance between data-driven analysis and persuasive storytelling is crucial. This necessitates honing not only analytical skills but also a keen sense of rhetoric to convey the gravity of the topic effectively. In conclusion, writing an essay on world population is a demanding task that requires a thorough understanding of demography, environmental science, ethics, and rhetoric. It calls for a writer to navigate a complex web of interconnected issues with precision and empathy. • 3. The Power Of Dracul Dracula And Dracula how Van Helsing is still Dracula s antagonist and becomes the leader of a group to destroy Dracula for loved ones and humanity. Although, in the movie such as Twilight and the Underworld trilogy, the common enemy for vampires were werewolves. In the movies, they were enemies or rivalries to see who was better, but at the end of each movie the enemies came together to fight another enemy such as another group of vampires or humans. Then they won the fights together, and stayed allies but different territories for the vampires and werewolves. Overall, Van Helsing and werewolves are the most famous enemies for Draculaor any other vampire. Also, Dracula s power is being used to protect something he loves instead to do the worse. The movie Dracula: Untold, Dracula s power was used to protect his family using the same abilities as shown in the book to shape shift, strength, and not to age. In the movie, Dracula states, Men fear monsters. They run from them. By putting one village to the stake, I spare 10 more. Sometimes the world no longer needs a hero, sometimes what it needs is a monster (Dracula: Untold). This shows how Dracula became a monster for the sake of his family, and his love for his wife could be described as stated in the book Dracula, There are darknesses in life and there are lights, and you are one of the lights, the light of all lights (Stoker 196). His love for his wife is what helped Dracula transform into a vampire to help his loved ones and his people

I went into the office to get my schedule. When I got it I went directly to my Science classroom and sat in my seat. The teacher called me up to introduce myself. Great, just what I wanted, to make a fool out of myself on the first day. My face felt numb and I wanted to go home. I went up and felt my voice struggling to get out, my body trembling as if I just fell into a tub of water. My first words came out M.....M.....My name s Jeff. At that moment I thought that I was done for, I was walking back to my seat, and I thought that I heard laughter. My face went red hot, and I thought that I was going to flip out, I just held it all in and started to listen as the teacher talked. My skin went hot and red. I just wanted to go back home. I sat in my seat and listened as the teacher talked, trying hard not to make any eye contact, then it happened, the bell rang it was lunchtime, the other worst possible thing that could happen, I didn t know where to sit, I hadn t made any friends. We talked and ate, after that, we went outside, it was cold and made my hands numb and dry, I asked them if we could go inside, but they said that they wanted
  • 9. The Flynn Effect And Nutrition Nutrition, the Flynn Effect, and Substance Abuse Carly Gottsponer PSY 3813 TC3 Korey Davis September 17, 2017 The Flynn Effect is the tendency of IQ scores to change over time, and specifically, the apparent increase in intelligence in the general population evidenced by a steady increase in IQ scores. It was first noticed by James Flynn (The Flynn Effect). As years went by and IQ tests were restandardized, it was noticed that when previous tests were taken the outcomes were better on the previous tests than the tests that were in current circulation. The Flynn Effect has a number of factors that can attribute to the effect taking place. One factor in particular that has been discussed by many different people is the factor of overall better nutrition. Overall better nutrition has occurred in many places over the last 100 years or so. This improvement has been linked to head growth, earlier maturation of children, increased height, and faster growth (Williams). Increased head growth most likely means that human brains are growing which can subsequently be linked to the increased intelligence that is proven by IQ scores. The earlier maturation and faster growth of children can also be linked to how a population s intelligence improves over many years. The Flynn Effect and nutrition are related through the correlation of increased intelligence and increased overall nutrition. The effects of the Flynn effect on nutrition and vice versa are extensive. The

Many people believe that this play is political, since we hear a significant amount about Reagan. Additionally, his administration has been largely criticized for its negligence toward the AIDS crisis. Furthermore, numerous LGBT activists have blamed Reagan for overlooking the epidemic since it was thought to be, for the most part, a disease that primarily affected gay men and, perhaps not surprising, African Americans. These two characters exist in another reality that is different from the rest of the cast. For example, in one scene Prior and Harper meet in some sort of weird joint dream. They do not know each other, yet share this odd and intense experience. In this scene, the two characters support each other to understand their essential truths: Harper helps Prior see that even though he feels dejected and hopeless, some part of him is not tainted while Prior reveals to Harper that her husband is a homosexual. • 12. The Greek Mythology Of Women The Greeks most important legacy is not being pioneers in democracy as we would think: it is their mythology. In general, we only know what male writers tell us women thought, because there were little to no women writers. However, the Greeks attributed to women a capacity for understanding that we do not always find in the other great literary traditions such as the Bible . Ancient Greek mythologydepicts women as a source of creation of the mythological universe, the creation of multi gendered immortals, and the knowledgeable and powerful personalities attributed to women in ancient Greek mythology. Many popular Greek plays contain several well written, complex, female characters. These women were depicted as the role of villain, victim, and even the role of heroine, showing the diversity in which women were seen in both mythology and ancient Greek society. We do not give much credit to the Greeks for their balanced view of women s abilities. The first reason is that many of the original meanings get lost by translations and retelling1, similar to the game Telephone. Secondly, myths tend to be misunderstood due to the concerns and beliefs of our own society1. But were women fairly represented as powerful in ancient Greek mythology? We often think of women as troublesome, conniving, and all around negative; but I believe their representations in Greek society and myth prove to be misunderstood. Throughout Greek mythology, women are considered subservient, negative and

Frank Dikotter s Race Culture: Recent Perspectives on the History of Eugenics talked about the importance and relevance of Eugenics in our culture. Eugenics was a vital part of several social movements in the twentieth century that was linked to topics such as race, sex, hygiene, and more. Eugenics was talked about widely like other important matters like, sex education, public health, and other related topics. That talk was not always positive as some information about eugenics led to social fears and moral panics. This reaction led to the creation of several laws. • 15. The Different Methods Of Communication In general, there are two different methods of communication. First, verbal messages occur face to face, by telephone, in writing and via computer assistance (Payne). The second method is nonverbal messages which occur through the use of facial expressions, tone of voice, physical gestures and distance/touching and the use of silence. Nonverbal communicationis arguably the most complex method of communication. For example, we often gesture with our hand and fingers the A OK (Figure 4). Unfortunately, the same gesture takes on a very different meaning in other cultures. In Japan the gesture means money, in Russia it is the equivalent of zero and Brazil is considered an insult. Therefore, a thorough understanding these cultural differences is a crucial element of success for organizations conducting business in these countries. Aside from the methods of communication, cultural characteristics play a part in the process of international communication. Generally speaking, countries fall into the category of either high or low context cultures. A high context culture is one which values personal knowledge, experience or depth of relationships, whereas a low context cultures are basically impersonal. As it relates to communications, low context cultures rely on the spoken word and high context cultures rely on tone and non verbal communication (Figure 5). Notably, high context cultures only rely on 7% of the spoken word with the remaining 93% divided between tone

He used to marry a new wife every day, and chop off her head next morning. And he would do it just as indifferent as if he was ordering up eggs. When someone mentions King Henry VIII, one would usually think of all of his wives. All though his wives died when he was in reign, he did not kill all of them. The fates of the wives can be remembered as Divorced, beheaded, died; divorced, beheaded, survived. King Henry wasn t all that terrible though. Superheroes first became extremely popular within the pages of comic books so it was only natural that film makers adopted the idea of superheroes into movies as well. People flock to superhero movies to satisfy their need for fantasy. Superhero movies frequently depict an average Joe who is somehow given amazing super human powers that real men and women have been fantasizing about for years. When thinking about movies that follow this sequence of events, the first movie that comes to my mind is Spider Man. The movie starts out by showing the main character as a weak and nerdy high school student, but a field trip to a research lab changed his life forever. He is bitten by a spider that gives him super human powers that he uses to fight crime and injustice. Viewers are enticed by movies like Spiderman because they wish that they could actually obtain these super human powers too. Many people can relate to the feeling of being weak and helpless, so seeing heroes like Spiderman in the

At first she did not really care about anyone or anything but herself. Then she began to realize what she did to people and she began to consider the feeling a of others as well as her own. If her relationship with Pedro had occurred at the beginning of the novel, she probably would have given no thought to what effects their relationship would have on him. However, by the end of the novel she had gained the understanding to know that he should do what is right, put away her own feelings, and leave him for his own good. She could be used as a role model because of her liberty. She is never tied down, as if she is floating in the breeze, aimlessly wandering from place to place. She does not conform. She does what she wants when she wants and does not let other people tell her what to do. She is dependent on no one in the sense that she does not care what others think. • 33. Interpreting the Handmaid s Tale Interpreting The Handmaid s Tale The Handmaid s Tale is distinguished by its various narrative and structural divisions. It contains four different levels of narrative time: the pre Revolution past, the time of the Revolution itself, the Gileadean period, and the post Gileadean period (LeBihan 100). In addition, the novel is divided into two frames, both with a first person narrative. Offred s narrative makes up the first frame, while the second frame is provided by the Historical Notes, a transcript of a lecture given by a Cambridge professor. The distinctions in structure and narrative perspective parallel the separation of Gileadean residents into different social roles. Offred s narrative is mainly of the Gileadean period, but ... As Offred tells her story, she incorporates the stories of other women into her narrative. Her voice multiplies to become the voice of women rather than the voice of a single narrator (133). Thus, The Handmaid s Tale isn t just Offred s protest against her oppressive condition, but the collective protest of every woman. The Historical Notes comprising the second frame of the novel provide an important shift in perspective. The Notes are a transcript of a lecture given by the professor, Darcy Pieixoto, at an academic symposium on Gileadean Studies two hundred years after Gilead has become ancient history. The reader finds out that Pieixoto and his colleague are the ones responsible for the transcription and editing of the handmaid s story. (As it turns out, Offred s account is not actually written, but recorded onto cassette tapes). Pieixoto treats Offred s story in a scientific and detached manner. For him, her account is merely a resource for gaining knowledge of the former Gilead Republic. The shift from Offred as narrator to Pieixoto as narrator does two things. First, it signifies Offred s inability to make her voice heard; the voice of the male narrator in the last part of the novel threatens to drown out Offred s voice and the significance of her autobiography. Secondly, it leaves readers with the challenge of

A hybrid vehicle not only saves the Postal Service32 40% on fuel costs (roughly $1200/car/year based on 30k miles), depending on the vehicle, but USPS would also receive a $3,000 tax incentive on every vehicle. In cities, electric vehicles or SMART cars could be used since delivery routes are shorter with frequent stops. Aside from being fuel efficient, they adhere to the ever stricter emissions rules. With well over 200,000 postal vehicles currently in the system, savings would approach the $1billion mark. Since USPS has monopoly in Standard Mail, prices in this sector should be raised while prices in the package delivery sector should be lowered, albeit marginally, in order to attract higher market share. A raise in first class postage of a little over 8% to $.40 is presently being reviewed. Higher revenues would result from the newly raised prices in the monopolized Standard Mail market, while higher volume sales from the package delivery segment would boost revenues. USPS should first appeal to the US government to leave the Federal Employee Health Benefit program. Then, USPS should research other health plans that are more cost efficient, whether it be a new carrier in the private sector, a change in benefits coverage or alter the level of an employees contribution to

Positive And Negative Effects Of Social Media Ryff and Keyes (1995) propose psychological well being to be composed of six elements: self acceptance; positive relations; autonomy; environmental mastery; purpose in life and a sense of personal growth. This suggests that there are a variety of ways in which an individual s wellbeing may be affected and provides insight into how vulnerable individuals can be to environmental factors which may alter their state of well being. Research proposes that social media an online environment in which individuals can communicate and share their views with a wide audience (Kaplan Haenlein, 2010) can have an effect on well being through its implications on self esteem Valkenburg, Peter Schouten, 2006) as an individual s self esteem may impact... Correlational research has further confirmed that there is a significant relationship between the type of responses received and self esteem (Greitemeyer, MГјgge Bollermann, 2014). However, the classification of the feedback as either positive or negative is problematic as these terms describe a spectrum of feedback. For example, a like and a comment are both forms of positive feedback, but one requires more effort than the other so is a more genuine form of feedback. Therefore these researchers have presented some evidence that social media can affect self esteem which in turn effects well being and that those effects may be harmful in nature, providing support for the notion that social media can be bad for psychological well being in some cases. On the other hand, longitudinal research has shown that found that positive feedback on social media from peers was only related to short term increases in self esteem. This suggests that social media only momentarily alters self esteem and that the effects of these changes in self esteem are not enduring (Valkenburg, Koutamanis Vossen, 2017). These conclusions do not provide support for previous research that suggests that social media has a
