Writing An Abstract For An Essay
Writing an essay on the topic "Writing an Abstract for an Essay" presents a unique set of
challenges. The difficulty lies in the need to balance brevity and informativeness, encapsulating
the essence of a more extensive piece in just a few concise sentences. Crafting an effective
abstract requires a keen understanding of the main arguments, key findings, and the overall
structure of the essay.
The challenge intensifies as one must resist the temptation to delve into the details, maintaining a
focus on providing a high-level overview. Striking the right balance between clarity and
conciseness can be intricate, as every word in the abstract holds significant weight. Writers must
skillfully convey the purpose, methodology, results, and conclusion without sacrificing precision
or coherence.
Furthermore, the abstract must act as a standalone piece, capable of communicating the essence
of the essay to readers who may not have the time or inclination to delve into the complete work.
Achieving this delicate equilibrium demands a meticulous selection of words and a deep
understanding of the subject matter.
In conclusion, the difficulty of writing an essay on crafting an abstract lies in the intricate dance
between capturing the essence of the essay and maintaining brevity. Success hinges on the
writer's ability to distill the core elements without sacrificing clarity or depth.

Observation Of The Orme Pond
Introduction: Last week, we have a chance to do a lab experiment with the Orme
pond in our school. The purpose of this lab is to help us to have a closer look at an
ecosystem and how things function in it. Besides, it provides us a chance to
observe organisms and work with the microscope. Previously in class, we all read
the book Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In A Mother s Work , she
talked about her pond, and surprisingly, her pond is very similar to the pond we are
observing and writing about.
Pond Observations:
There are diverse types of vegetation live in the water like algae, small trees, ...
Oligotrophic
Many animals and insects live in and on the water surface such as bugs, dragonflies,
spiders, snails, fishes,...
The water was cold although under the hot weather.
The air temperature around the pond was mild.
On the bottom of the pond is mud.
Edge dirt is cracked r
Sample Observations:

Insects /bugs
The water smells
Microorganisms floating in the water
Hypothesis: The beaker was put in the fridge for a few days and when it was
brought out the mini ecosystem was still functioning. If we put a beaker of the pond
water in a freezer for a 24 hours, the mini ecosystem will still be functioning.
Experiment: On Friday, we put the beaker of pond sample to the fridge. The beaker
was in the fridge for 2 days. After taking it out and doing observations on Monday,
we realized that every organisms in the pond, from the little algae to the big bugs, is
Accessing the Internet throughout the World
Everyone in the world can access the internet now. People can use different devices
to access the internet now. Whether you are in China, Europe, Africa, or the United
States, you have access to the internet in some way. This paper will be talking about
the use of internet access around the world. Also, areas that do not have internet
access or have low amount of access to the internet. This paper will also talk about
broadband that are in some areas.
The paper will start with a little history of how the internet first started and how it
continues to develop. Next, will be broadband provided in the United States and
other areas. Then, will be the use of internet in the U.S. and rural areas. After that is
the use of internet using devices. Last, will the ethical analysis.
2. BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE
The first internet started about 50 years ago in the United States. It started out as a
government weapon for researchers to use to share data and communicate with each
other. During the 1950s, the Soviet Union lunched the first satellite that was made by
man into orbit. The satellite was called Sputnik. The only thing it did was traveling
around the earth sending radio transmissions. After that, American scientist decided
to focus more on technology and science to further advance their technology.
Different corporations decided to use their government funded money and place it in
scientific research and development. Even the federal government used their own
money to create
Personal Statement On Decision And Risk Management
that I am really eager to take a learn about, and it is a class on decision and risk
management. With that class I am hoping to gain the critical thinking process
needed to make big decisions financially and to lead my future employees and co
workers wisely when those decisions need to be made. I know that to be a good
engineer I will have to stay up to date on current events and advancements in the
world of technology, and I believe that the classes outlined in the academic plan of
study will truly be a benefit to me in acquiring the necessary skills that this job will
require. Although I have researched the topic of my career choice in systems
engineeringextensively, I still have so many questions about it. I am eager to know
how long it will take for me to climb the ladder and work my way up through each
job before I could potentially become something like a project manager. I have
decided to reach out to some people in this career that can better inform me on
questions like this, because I want to fully know what it is that I am getting into.
I know that to be a successful engineer, I will have to learn much more than just
academic topics, and I am prepared to do so. I know I must learn attention to
detail, I must learn to make sense of hard and complex problems, I must learn to be
a team player while leading along side of my co workers, and I must learn to form

Chivalry In The Song Of Roland
At this point in history the men who fought the wars were lead by their leaders
with a code of chivalry. Chivalry can be explained as the Anglo Saxon code on
steroids. (McGee) Which is, explained further, a moral system for a good way to
conduct fighting. The knights in Arthurian time went even further with that code
to say that it was a way to conduct oneself not only in battle, but at all times.
Knights, by being chivalrous, were kind to all people, fought well and true, kept
faith and believed in the Christian God, and fought for their kings. Chivalry can be
found across the Arthurian texts, The Song of Roland is one of the texts that has
multiple examples of chivalry. Keeping faith with God, and the consequences of
such are expressed in The Song of Roland. Ganelon broke a rule of chivalry, and
when he did this, he also broke the ties he had with God. To separate himself from
his lord Charlemagne was to separate himself from God. Thus he broke one of the
rules of the code of chivalry. Another example from the text is when Roland was
on the battlefield dying and the angels descended upon him and took his soul
straight to heaven, despite how Roland had so self righteously not blown the horn
to signal to Charlemagne that he needed aid. God took this, not as the sin of pride,
but rather as a way of Roland protecting his lord, by not putting his lord into any
unnecessary danger. This was one of the codes of chivalry, to believe in the hierarchy
with God at the top. Another
News Station Bias Essay
Do you watch Fox news,CNN,or MSNBC,and they have changed your mind about
something? Well than that news station must be biased. When a news station is
biased they show favoritism towards a party, religion, cause, etc. When people are
biased they alter the minds of the people. Our society runs on respect so when news
stations are biased they affect our community in bad ways.Although when they use
certain techniques and are honest they help our society run . In the news the
anchors and writers disrespect the citizens by altering facts or avoiding certain
topics. In an article Brent Bozell states That the media was hounding Mitt Romney
while letting President Obama of the hook. (Bonzell,2014) This shows disrespect
because they are in favor of Obama so they go soft, and on the other hand they do
not like Romney so the try to make him look bad to lose the election. With the media
making Romney look bad they are not being polite to the people and Romney. If they
change enough people s minds they will alter the outcome of the election, which is
way worse because that will affect our society for many years. Another way being...

Why The United States Has Only Two Major Political
Parties
Final Exam Essays
Essay Prompt 1: Discuss why the United States has only two major political parties.
The United States government is commonly referred to as a Duopoly , which means
that there are two established political parties, Democratic and Republic, and that
these two parties share the vast majority of the political power in the country. This is
because the United States follows a winner takes all voting system, utilizing a single
member district plurality . The single member district portion means that for each
geographic area or district, there is only one elected official, and the plurality portion
means that in United States elections, the representative or politician who receives
the most number of votes, wins the given election, even if it s less than half the
percentage of votes. According to Duverger s law, a Political Science principle,
plurality voting procedures correlationally support the emergence of only two
political parties, in contrast to a multiparty democracy.
This is largely because there have only been two parties for so long, and these two
parties have made it such a point to make their separation of ideals and beliefs
blatant, so the vast majority of the voters have for the most part picked a definitive
side , so to speak, and have registered as a member of the corresponding political
party, that caters the most to their individual ideals. Because of this, it has made it
very hard for any smaller parties to gain enough support to
Television And Internet News Programs
News or Nonsense Television and internet news programs have began to stray
away from a strictly informative report of current happenings to vague, non
factually based entertainment stories. This is a direct result of society s desire to
worry about everyone s feelings. In the past, viewers passionately desired accurate
information and statistics on the nation s current events. As of now, a different
generation of viewers and new s providers bestow the supply and demand of news
stories based on emotions, rather than fact. With extremist groups becoming
increasingly popular the demand for highly biased news is snowballing. New s
corporations like FOX capitalize on this by providing news that is consistently
biased to one point of view. Having a one sided production such as FOX creates a
type of animosity between them and their competition. This seems rather childish,
making these top tier new companies look like a joke. In result, a viewer will
struggle to find a new s broadcast that provides more than a couple of relevant
stories based on factual information. Instead, the bulk of content is displayed in a
look at me, feel bad for me, or look at them format. From this, the broadcasters
work at the heart strings of their viewers. They get the viewer to invest emotion into
a story, creating a reaction and desire to hear, see, and feel more. Given the response,
broadcasters see interest in emotionally based stories skyrocket and interest in
factually based stories
Betrayal And Imoral Actions In Macbeth
Betrayal and immoral actions can lead to a person s downfall. The three characters
that relate to the theme betrayal are Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and Macduff. Macbeth
betrays the King by murdering him, so that he can take the crown. He shows
immoral actions from killing his cousin who is the King that lead to his downfall.
He betrays his best friend, Banquo, after he took over the throne, because he did not
want to have his sons as kings. When Lady Macbethteases (harrasses) Macbeth of not
being a man for not killing King Duncan, he thought of an immoral action to betray
the King. He states, I ll go no more./ I am afraid to think what I have done;/ Look on

Lady Macbeth betrays the King when King Duncan is asleep. After Macbeth kills
the King, Lady Macbeth takes his dagger and ends King Duncan s guards, so there
would be no evidence on King Duncan s murder. She says, My hands are of your

Lady Macbeth demonstrates treason against King Duncan s guards when she uses
her husband s dagger to end both of King Duncan s guards, so there would be no
evidence of her immoral behavior against the King. Lady Macbeth heart is not
white, but filled with unfathomable emotions of stubbornness. She feels shame to
not have a heart as white as Macbeth which foreshadows her downfall, because of
her immoral decisions. Another scene when Lady Macbeth reflects on her immoral
actions is when she is talking to herself, and a gentlewoman and doctor are around.
She is feeling depressed. According to Lady Macbeth, Here s the smell of the blood

Lady Macbeth feels regret for her immoral actions towards King Duncan s guards.
She demonstrates poor hospitality etiquette after King Duncan gave her a
housewarming gift of a diamond jewelry. Instead of treating King Duncan and his
guards as special guests, she takes advantage of the King and his guards when they
are sleeping. The aftermath of her immoral actions led to the downfall of being
tormented by the smell of blood from her murder of
Hr and Termination Essay
GRADE: 76% Nice discussion of how the company might work with the employee
through progressive discipline, and of how just cause dismissal could be
implemented at the end of this process. Constructive dismissal is not recommended
due to the risks associated with it. Barnetson indicates (in the study guide) that
employers can lawfully terminate employment in three ways: just cause, non
culpable dismissal, and mutual consent, therefore, it would have been better to
discuss non culpable dismissal or mutual consent as your second option. See

George Washington, John Adams, And Thomas Jefferson
George Washington, John Adams, and Thomas Jefferson. Not only is this a list of
US Presidents but it is also a list of three of the most well known Founding Fathers.
Yes, they have their reasons to be because each one of them have numerous
achievements and have accomplished many things that others have not. But one
Founding Father often over looked, and not just because he stands five feet four
inches tall, is James Madison. With all due respect, James Madison has
accomplishments that stand just as well against the test of time. James Madison to
me is one of the most important Founding Fathers. Please allow me to explain why I
chose Mr. James Madison, the background and upbringing of him, some of his most
notable contributions to the Unites States and why those contributions are still
important today.
The reason I chose James Madison over the rest of the Founding Fathers is because
I believe he isn t as well known as he should be and with that being said, would like
to inform you about him. Madison has accomplished many great things in his life that
have had an effect on the United States as we know it today. Undoubtedly the biggest
contribution that Madison made to the United States of America was the he was the
author of the draft that was used to create the Constitution and without the
constitution there really wouldn t be a frame of government. Another reason I chose
James Madison is because he fought for religious freedom, believing it was an

Justice in Romero Essay
Justice in Romero The influential and gripping film, Romero , directed by John
Duigan, portrays the life and death of Archbishop Oscar Romero. The movie shows
the world through the eyes of the El Salvadorian people during the 1980 s, when
poverty and military rule flourished over the people. The country of El Salvadorwas
run by an elite group of few who controlled most of the power and money, leaving the
majority of the people deprived and powerless. This imbalance in the social system
left much of the people under oppression, constantly controlled by the corrupt
government and even sometimes persecuted when they tried to speak out. The
church was a witness to the violations of human rights and this ruthless behavior by

At first this is what Romero did, he preached to be peacemakers and not to revolt.
But after the government shot their weapons into crowds indiscriminately at a
worship ceremony held outside, killing a few people including a priest who was
also Romero s close friend, was when Romero begins to rebuke the government and
lead the struggle for justice and human rights in the country. Romero develops into
a man who rocks the boat. In that, meaning he organized rallies and masses that
brought the people together causing anger upon the government. He leads a
peasant march into a church that is occupied by soldiers in order to perform mass,
and also offends and defies the El Salvadorian president. Throughout the movie,
Romero is faced with challenge after challenge from the military and government,
but through it all he continued to speak to his people and praising the word of god.
The film came to a tragic ending as Archbishop Romero was shot by a hired
assassin during mass. Although martyred for his beliefs, his spirit lived on in the
Salvadorian people. Father Romero was a very influential figure. Inclined himself by
the masses of poverty stricken individuals harmed by the government, Romero was a
man who was clearly in pursuit of social justice. The first step he took towards the
situation was assessing the real life poverty and oppression that was at hand. Romero
along with the church examined what was
My Ability To Read
I think today I am a good reader, and in the future my reading capabilities will be
much higher than they are now. When I look at my reading log today I can see that
I am averaging about 25 pages in 30 minutes. I think that in the future,I will at the
most be reading 40 or even 50 pages in the 30 minutes.I think this because today I
am at the lexile number of 1225.In the future,I think that The lexile umber will
increase drasticly.I am going to make this happen by reading more and more every
year and using the reading strategies that I have learned more and more making it
easier to read a higher level book and expanding my range of books into a higher
place. Also right now I am reading more than the required amount of reading time,
which tells me that I enjoy to read and when I read I get lost in the book.My
average amount of time to read a day is 30 with my brother. The required amount is
20 minutes, so I usually exeed the expectation every day.I think in the future, I will
be hopefully exceeding the expectation of that grade level to.I will do this by
incresing the amount of time I read each year till I ecxeed the expected amount of
the required time.I plan to start this at the end of this school year. I will start off
with a small amount then in maybe a couple of years I will be past the expectation
by far.

Access to General Higher Education in Haryana: An Inter district Analysis
INTRODUCTION:
Higher Education occupies a centre stage in this era of knowledge; it acts as a
catalyst in promoting the acquisition of new knowledge and higher skills for
development of physical and human resources and for building an environment of
creative thinking and growth of individuality. There is general consensus that higher
education is one of the vital factors of national development, an important social
resource and means of reducing inequalities in the societies. Keeping in view the
important role of higher education in transforming the society into a more
enlightened, prosperous and civilized community, the Indian Governments (Central
State level both) and various Commissions Committees paid special attention towards
the growth and spread of higher education facilities in the country.
Though, Indian higher education system has grown tremendously both in terms of
size and diversity, yet there exist large disparities in the spread of higher educational
facilities across States/regions in India. Some States are educationally advanced
while others are relatively backward. Even within each State, some regions have
better educational facilities while others lag behind. The apex body i.e. University
Grants Commission identified 374 Educationally Backward Districts of India in 2009
with an aim to address the problem during the tenure of the Eleventh Five Year Plan.

Core competencies create differentiation and sustainable competitive advantage in the
target market, resulting in premium prices or increased volume. I have identified a
couple core competencies including: employee involvement, brand recognition and
family environment.
One of the things that sets Harley Davidson s culture apart from other businesses is
employee involvement. The participation of the employees in the business has been
an essential component to there success. In order to maximize employee
involvement, the hierarchy and layers of management have been minimized and an
open door policy extends throughout the Company. Employees aren t allowed to
check their brains at the door or avoid responsibility or accountability. All employees
are expected to take the initiative to identify problems and solve them. In the late 80s,
the Harley Davidson
Business Process was created with the goal of better aligning employees
contributions with the Company s goals. The idea is for the Company to share its
vision so that all of its employees can put their efforts into working in the same
direction.
To make this possible, salaried and unionized employees are full participants in many
key business decisions at Harley Davidson. Through this partnering agreement,

The Importance if My Mom to My Career Choice
In my email, I use an academic article as my basis for my whole argument. This
article is based on academic research and thus, my topics of discussion in my email
stem from parts of the paper. I mention information from the article like psychopaths
are usually stuck at the primary stage (the second developmental stage in the run)
which leads to their lack of understanding of morals and emotions such as empathy
and their more narcissistic behavior. My main credibility stems from the fact that I
am talking to my mom. My mother has known me all my life. She has also knows
that I am majoring in psychologyspecifically so I can study criminal behavior and
join the Behavioral Analysis Unit (BAU) of the FBI. She knows that I am very
smart and that I have held an interest in psychology for several years. My mom also
knows that I have been studying psychology for two years now. I took an
Advanced Placement class during my senior year of high school and over the past
summer took a class on Theories of Personalities at the local community college. A
side long to this is that my mom trusts my knowledge in the subject so thus when I
talk about specific terms, she knows that I am giving her reliable information since
not only were they used and explained in the article, but I know them from my
studies and can explain them to her. Another piece of my article that adds to the
amount of credibility I have with my mom is that I don t have to tell her the source

Characteristics Of A Freshwater Lake
Figure 1. The zones of a freshwater lake (Smith and Smith 2001).
Within the lentic ecosystems, temperature plays a crucial role. Lake temperatures
does not variate drastically, but does change gradually with every season of the year.
Summer, the thermic stratification of lakes, can be studied in different layers (Figure
2). The superior level of a lake that is terminally stratified, is known to be epilimnion,
which is the warmer part of the fresh water body. This water remains in the superior
part because as the water gets warmer, the light of the sun becomes clearer than the
dense water downward. The metalimnion is the known layer that would be ubicated
beneath. This layer is defined by the thermocline where the temperature slightly
decreases. In this phase, the temperature decreases 1 В°C for every single meter
that descends. Hypolimnion would be the last stratified layer in a lake. This deep
and cutoff from sources of air. (Korstad 2017)
Another crucial component is the description of the characteristics of a lake is to
monitor the quantity of oxygen and carbon dioxide to various depths. There is a
reciprocal relation that exists between these two elements when they are compared
to the depth of a lake (Figure 2) (Korstad 2017). A lake has the capacity top adhere
oxygen by absorption or photosynthesis. The levels high oxygen is necessary to
maintain the necessary nutrients inside the water, and at the same time providing a
source food to all fishes. It is common to see

Millions were made homeless by the huge waves that swept houses and cars away. It
was estimated that the costs to repair all damage would be at approximately $5 billion.
Another human factor is the earthquake mitigation through education and
community awareness. Schemes such as the one in Sichuan, China helped to save
thousands of lives. The weekly intervals of training in case of an earthquake,
educated children and adults of what to do when the quake struck. Evacuation
schemes such as the window slides or hiding under tables was reported to have
saved thousands when the magnitude 8.0 hit the area in 2008. However, some were
not saved due to their unwillingness to move and evacuate the area. Some people of
the village, notably the poorer and elderly refused to leave as they didn t want to
leave all they owned behind.
The proximity of settlements to an area of seismic activity and the growth of
urbanisation are two more human factors that affect the impacts greatly. These
factors can cause many fatalities, but the impacts can be decreased by using land use
regulations. These include land use zoning and exclusion zones, where there are laws
as to the type and size of buildings able to be built in that area. This prevents many
fatalities unlike in the Gujarat Earthquake, where it was estimated that 800,000
buildings were seriously damaged.

A Summary Of The Gunpowder Plot
Gunpowder Plot
Many today that subsists in the United Kingdom has the understanding who Guy
Fawkes specifically recollects The Gunpowder plot that acquires celebrations every
5th of November each year. Rewind back many centuries to the year of 1605 if you
are not sure what The Gunpowder Plot is. The basics of the Gunpowder Plot was a
attempt to blow up the House of Lords building assassinating many high figured
people such as the king and queen or same socioeconomic class during the opening
of the new parliament building opening on November 5, 1605. The motive behind
the plot was led by Robert Catesby with mastermind and notorious Guy Fawkes who
cooperated as the exploding specialist. According to Sellar and Yeatman, the
Gunpowder Plot remains the paramount of plots in history of all time due to the
Memorable and total plot of what happened.
To understand the basics of the Gunpowder plot at it s finest and the fallout, we must
understand the fundamentals of what lead to the plot initially. Catholics and
Protestants had a controversy between the Church of England with enormously
arduous that the church of England ordered anyone outside of the Protestant church
must plead their faithfulness to the head of the church if not, people would face
Recusany (National Archives, 2003). In despite of the Church of England, Catholics
were exhausted from the rules of the Church were later a group of men decided to
push back leading to the beginnings of the Gunpowder Plot.

True Despair Short Story
True Despair
Four years ago today was his first time feeling true happiness. Now the day reminds
him of how badly he messed up one year ago. Just one wrong turn led to a life of
despair.
It was his last time ever experiencing true happiness. Four years ago, Jeff was still
in college when he met the girl of his dreams, or so he thought. Her name was
Jessica. Jess was a quiet girl, but one day in the hall Jess bumped into Jeff and after
that, it was love at first sight, though the both of them were too shy to say anything at
first, they both knew from a spark in their eyes that they were destined to be together
in someway.
Over a year both Jess and Jeff were both going about their lives as average everyday
students in college. Jeff attending his classes, doing his chores around his dorm,
and keeping up with his family as they lived far from the college he was
attending.Jess usually hanging with her friends, keeping up with class work and
playing video games online. They only saw each other in the hall every now and
then until, by some random chance of fate, they both chose the same class and were
placed together, and that s when Jess thought that she had the courage to tell him how
she really felt but she was too shy, so things didn t move that fast.
Weeks passed until one day Jess came to school but something was different about
her. Most didn t notice at first, but Jeff noticed right away. Her hair was a bright
crimson red color. After seeing that, something made him immediately go speak to
her. He asked her out and she said that she would have a response after class.
Knowing she would say yes, she first wanted to tell her friends about what had
happened. Most of her friends all told her that this could mean the rest of her life,
but she knew she waited an entire year, so she thought she was ready. In the
meantime, Jeff was talking to his friends about if he really should have asked her
out, without even knowing a thing past her name. Doubts filled his mind as more
time passed by. He lays down in his dorm to calm himself down until he gets a text
from an unknown number, saying, Meet me behind the music building at sunset. Not
knowing who sent the text, Jeff tells his friends to come with him as he goes to
The Overfishing Of Our Oceans
Overfishing
The ocean makes up nearly three quarters of the planet s surface and contains
about eighty percent of the life on earth. Millions of people all over the world
depend on seafood heavily as a primary source of food. Americans alone consumed
as much as 15.8 pounds of seafood per person in 2009 (NOAA). This is a lot of
fish. In fact, it is so much that many populations of fish are going extinct. At this
particular rate according to National Geographic, scientist predict that the earth is
expected to lose all of its current fisheries by the year 2048 (Roach). The overfishing
of our oceans leads to unmanageable practices that will eventually cause many species
of fish to become extinct.
According to National Geographic, overfishing dates back to the 1800s when
humans killed off massive amounts of whale population to retrieve blubber for lamp
oil (Roach). Similarly, Atlantic cod, herring, and California s sardines, were also
fished to the brink of extinction by the mid 1900s. Theses cases were extremely
harmful to the ecosystems food chain. To counter these losses, the United States
passed the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (NOAA).
This law made it illegal for foreign countries to fish within 200 nautical miles of the
United States shoreline. This would make it easier to manage illegal fishing. Congress
also established eight regional councils with representation from the coastal states and
fishery stakeholders. Their jobs were to come up
Anne Moody and the Black Panthers Essay
During the 1960s, many Black Americans drew attention to the inequalities among
races in society. Protest groups formed and demonstrations highlighting
discrimination towards dark people were a common practice for civil rights activists.
Some activists believed non violence was the only way to overcome, and others, such
as Anne Moody and the Black Panthers, had a more aggressive attitude towards
gaining freedom. In her autobiography, The Coming of Age in Mississippi, Anne
Moody describes the hardships of growing up in the heavily racist South, and
displays the price you pay daily for being Black. (p.361) She grows tired of seeing
her Black companions beaten, raped, murdered, and denied their opportunity to...

In general, they felt that African Americans had been treated as second class
citizens since the end of the Civil War solely because they were Black. The Panthers
developed a platform called the Ten Point Program that described the changes they
demanded to see in American society. They wanted a country in which Black
children are provided the same educational opportunities as White children, and
thought that Blacks could only progress by being taught the true history of Black
oppression in the U.S. They demanded that Black Americans have jobs that paid the
same wages as Whites and weren t limited to labor intensive positions. The party also
felt that the police force instigated more conflict and violence than protection, and
believed they needed to provide security for Blacks by themselves. Although they
were known for using gun power when necessary, the Panthers envisioned a peaceful
society under a just government where all races could live together. Simply put, the
Black Panthers felt the United States government was not allowing Black Americans
to the live in the land of equal opportunity, but rather denying them the freedoms and
liberties constitutionally entitled to them. The Black Panthers wanted African
Americans to be able to determine their destiny.
Because the Black Panthers felt society and government were withholding African
Americans from social progress, they took some matters into their own hands. They

Archetypes In Jungian Psychology
It is the purpose of this literature review to explore archetypes and complexes as part
of a larger initiative to build a foundation for learning within the field of Depth
Psychology. Such an exploration cannot be undertaken, however, without regard to an
important psychic sub structure where complexes and archetypes interact. Therefore
it is necessary to briefly discuss the unconscious before proceeding further.
It can be said that psychology owes its lineage to depth psychologists who pioneered
the field with bold assertions of an enigmatic influence in human behavior.
Contemporary thought knows this force as the unconscious, and by contemporary we
mean to say that the word itself is relatively new; to assume one can approach the
unconscious only from the point of view that its concept is as new as the word itself
ignores evidence to the contrary. Instead one must speak of the unconscious from the
context of the totality of the human species and not from the confines of modern
thought. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freud is indeed synonymous with the topic, and rightly so considering his
groundbreaking work. However abstractions of an unseen yet influential psychic
component were made long before Freud conceptualized his theory. Christopher
Hauke, in The Handbook of Jungian Psychology: Theory, practice and applications
(2006, pp. 54 55) suggests many rituals performed by ancient people indicate
awareness of influences beyond their own conscious thought. I will return to the topic
of ancient ritual later, as it is germane to the exploration of archetype. Hauke goes on
to cite several sources of pre psychological thought concerning the unconscious, much
of which was implied following the Age of Enlightenment (1700 1800) (pp.
The Portrait Of Edward Hopper
Edward Hopper was a quiet person but his art speaks louder that his words. His
paintings are famous because they are mysterious and his scenes don t seem to be
complete. His paintings leave the viewer with questions which makes his painting
even more interesting. Hopper started sketching and drawing at a very young age.
Hopper has struggled throughout his career but in the end, he s made it to where
he is now. When Hopper was young he loved anything to do with art. He was
extremely excited when he got a blackboard one Christmas. He loved how he could
draw anything, erase it, and draw a brand new picture. When he became older he
had a pencil and paper everywhere he went. He loved to observe people but he

He also visited Belgium, England, Germany, and France. He even stayed with a
french family when he was in Paris. When he wasn t traveling over to Europe he
lived in an apartment in Greenwich which he moved into in 1913. Hopper lived
here for the rest of his life. He hated having to work and paint for other businesses
but that s what he had to do to keep his apartment. Luckily for him, he was 43 years
old when he had enough money to quit the job and focus on his paintings more.
Most artists don t immediately get recognized and in Hopper s case, the first
painting he ever sold was in 1911. The painting was call Sailing and it sold for
$250 or $4300 in today s money. It was also exhibited at the famous Armory Show.
The Armory show introduced American Art World to a new kind of experimental
art of Europe. Getting an invitation to this exhibit was a great honor. So this was a
pretty big deal for him. Sadly, after Sailing he didn t sell another painting for years.
He did, however, continue to work as an illustrator even though he didn t like it.
Later, he traveled to Monhegan, Maine and met Josephine Verstille Nivison. She
was a former student of his who studied under Henri as well. The two had been
friends for quite a few years and then they got New York on July 9, 1924. They
were in fact opposites of each other Josephine or Jo was more outgoing and spoke
her thoughts, while Hopper was more soft spoken, quiet, and polite. Sometimes

Insider Pressure Groups
Pressure groups play a vital role within the increasingly complex and multicultural
electorate. A single Member of Parliament, Representative or Senator has a diverse
constituency base to represent, which makes it difficult to represent a variety of often
conflicting interests. This is where pressure groups are critical to representative
democracyas they allow the interests of specific groups to be represented by an
organisation that is dedicated to them and understands them fully. Whilst this is a
positive argument, pressure groups with vast amounts of power make this vital
function of representation difficult to carry out fairly for all pressure groups involved.
The structure of a representative democracy entails a form of government where ...

Pressure group strategy and influence are determined largely by factors such as
size...financial resources, prestige position of the organization, quality of leadership
and staff, and relations with the political parties... (Turner, 1958, p. 64). It is these
factors that make pressure groups, to some extent, incompatible with representative
democracy as some groups are able to make their views heard louder due to factors
which can be difficult for them to change, such as the prestigious position of an
interest group.
For example, take the work done by various human rights pressure groups. Whilst
there are many groups working to campaign and tackle the breadth of human rights
abuse around the world, the first group that comes to mind for many is Amnesty
International. The use of mass media of communication to influence public attitudes
(Turner, 1958, p68) has allowed Amnesty International to gain a prestige over other
human rights pressure groups, meaning that the equally vital work done by fellow
groups such as Liberty may not be able to be represented as well to various global
governments. This prestige enjoyed by some groups makes prestigious and powerful
pressure groups incompatible with representative democracy because some
Advantages And Disadvantages Of Density Forecasts
The density forecast of a random variable is an estimation based on the past
observed data. This is a symmetric interval prediction which means that the outcomes
will fall into an interval that is a band of plus/minus a fixed times of standard errors.
The estimation provides a probability distribution of all possible future values of that
variable. Over the past decades, the price density forecast has been widely used to
study microeconomic and financial issues. Forecasting the future development of the
economy is of great importance for proper government monetary decisions and
individual risk management. A good macroeconomic density forecast presents a
subjective description of inflationary pressure and other information related to
economics.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Although the methods they first used have many drawbacks, these analyses still help
governments in understanding the macroeconomic environment and making

Charlie also learns love in a way to get him better and set him for life. When his
mother makes him dig the hole and fill it back up, this is harsh love and will
prepare Charlie for later life as it will teach him respect and manners. Charlie deep
down knows this is what his mother is trying to teach him, but at the time he just
wanted to believe that she was trying to punish, annoy and make him work. Charlie
also discovers the love of peers. When Charlie is dragged into the drama of Laura
by Jasper he didn t know if to trust him. But when the truth came out and Jasper
wasn t a part of it, Charlie loved him for telling the truth and being a good friend.
Also when Jasper asks Charlie to leave Corrigan with him when they are older,
Charlie loves Jasper for the respect and friendship he is giving him. Charlie also
sees the act of false love. This is seen by Charlie when he witnesses his mother
cheating on his father in the backseat of a car. Charlie knew his parents
relationship wasn t going too well, but he didn t expect this. He uses this to
overcome his mothers power over him. But this example shows us how Charlie has
learnt the difference between real love and false love, this will only help him later
in life. Charlie also learns about facing fears in the book. Facing his parents, the
sneaking out with Jasper, Corrigan and of course the truth about Laura. Charlie was

Green Gables
Anne of Green Gables is a childhood classic created in 1908 by Lucy Maud
Montgomery. It quickly became a popular book for children to read as it was
easily relatable. In the book an old couple living on a farm adopted an orphan boy
to help with work, however, when Matthew the old farmer went to get the child at
the railway station, he instead found a girl. Since he couldn t leave the child by
herself he took her with him back home to Green Gables. When Marrilla, the sister
of Matthew, saw the child, she went with Anne to the orphanage to send her back.
When she arrived she saw how terrified the girl, whose name she learned was Anne,
looked when she saw who she was going to be handed over to, so she decided to
keep her, and hence... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is when Mrs. Lynde, Green Gables nosy neighbor, came to visit the familywhen
she learned that they had gotten a girl instead of a boy. When Anne was presented
to her she talked about how skinny Anne was and how her hair was so red. Anne
being close enough to hear what Mrs. Lynde said to Marrilla got very mad and told
Mrs. Lynde rude things about her. After this confrontation Marrilla had a talk with
Anne about saying things to her guests and told her she must apologize. In the
book Anne said she would not apologize to Mrs. Lynde so Marrilla shut her up in
her room until she did. In the movie however it was completely different, with a
much more dramatic effect. This time when Marrilla told Anne to apologize Anne
said she would rather go back to the orphanage than go apologize to Mrs. Lynde.
Though this may not seem like a big change from the book it most definitely is.
During the beginning of the book you can see how much Anne adores Green
Gables, and it is easily apparent that she would never give Green Gables away. It is a
definite change to the story and how Anne feels about where she is. Soon after that
the filmmakers created another mistake, forgetting to put a church into the movie. In
both tellings of Anne of Green Gables Marrilla was a very religious woman and tried
to make Anne religious too. Every Sunday she made Anne go to the community
church, or at least, you assume so. Throughout the entire movie you never see Anne
going to church, although you see her becoming more religious. As well, in one
scene of the movie you get to see Anne walking with Marrilla and another woman,
who they address as Mrs. Allen, one of the churches class teachers, as said in the
book. Once again though, there is no mention of the church, there is also no reason
to believe they left it out because of religious purposes as they would skip the
religious remarks completely then, and

Government health advice has warned us that the idea of a healthy tan is a

sun as an inducement to travel as the sun unproblematically condenses and signifies
the essence of modern travel for pleasure (Carter and Jordan, 2009, page 72).
A study, funded by the Medical Research Council, was carried out in the West of
Scotland into health and travel. The research focused on tourists aged between 20
and 35 years of age who regularly travelled abroad for their holidays. People were

Personal Narrative-I Am Ryba s Poem
I am Ryba, and I am considered a villain, a bad guy, an antagonist. In reality, I am
misunderstood. This is my side of the story. To start off with, the name Ryba is
really ironic because it literally means fish, and I am one third of an angler fish.
Hence why I have an angler s rod and light connecting from the spine. It reaches a
foot above my head before it curves downward diagonally near my forehead where
the bright light hangs. I also am part cobra and lovebird. The cobra part comes out
through the fact that I usually eat snakes like ramen noodles, and that I m mostly

Marketing Strategy Of Vodafone
Telecommunications: Company Vodafone
Vodafone is a British multinational telecommunications company which operates its
own networks in 26 countries and has partner networks in over 50 countries. Such a
wide range of markets makes Vodafone apply different marketing strategies to satisfy
customers needs and make profits from it. This chapter of the essay will focus on EU
s and Indian marketing strategies of Vodafoneto prove the importance of having
different marketing strategies in different markets.
The market in the EU is relatively mature compared with the Indian market. In a
mature market of telecommunications the number of consumers of a mobile
network is relatively steady. On Financial Times website, in Daniel Thomas s
(2014) article Vodafone continues its evolution and widens European foothold ,
he describes the marketing strategy of Vodafone in EU specifically. Now the main
strategy in EU is about expending Vodafone s business to other fields including the
broadband and TV markets. In order to realize the business expending Vodafone
began to purchase other companies like Ono of Spain, Cable Wireless Worldwide
in the UK and Kabel Deutschland in Germany which provide such service to
customers. Also Building Vodafone s own network in Italy, Spain and Portugal is
another strategy used for business expending. Daniel Thomas (2014) mentioned Mr.
Colao CEO of Vodafone describes the strategy of Vodafone in EU s market as the
next chapter . Mr. Colao also pointed that

For the countries that State Sponsor Terrorism (SST), the United States has several
different ways it combats and handles these rogue nations, mostly through the use of
sanctions. One country that has become a repeat offender of sponsoring terrorism
is Iran. Since the 1979 Islamic revolution, Iran s clerical leadership has worked with
a range of terrorist groups to advance its own overall interests in the Middle East and
abroad (Byman, #2, 2015, Pg.1).
Over thirty years later, this use of terrorism has continued and remains an important
foreign policy instrument for the Iranian regime as it antagonizes the neighbors in the

to employ State Sponsored Terrorism as its primary means, due to desiring an

the U.S. involvement in the Middle East. The Iranian government has several
strategic goals for their way of doing so called business, as the U.S. knows and

goes to buy a car they focus on the outside features instead of what is under the hood
and how it works. Just as a car has an engine and other features working the car, the
brain has different functions that control not only your movements, but also the way
that you perceive the world. With the brainonly weighing around three pounds it is
known to be the best computer system there is. The brain has to communicate with
the senses and muscles in the body and it does that through neurons. The neuron
transmits the information to different parts of the body and is considered a building
block of the brain. Neurons make up the nervous systemwhich performs... Show more

The peripehal nervous system is broken into two brances which include the somatic
nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system
transmits the messages between the central nervous system and your sensory organs.
It regulates movement, posture and balance. It contains your sensory and motor
neurons. Once messages are transmitted through sensory neurons our brain can
interpret the picture you are seeing in front you you, the food you are tastign and
even a hot flame touching your finger tip. Once the message gets to the CNS it sends
messages back through the motor neuron that controls movements. It has voluntary
control. For example, if you touch a flame, the sensory neuron from your finger tip
will send the message that it is hot and your brain will deliever a message back to
move your finger. It happens almost instantly. The other branch which is the
autonomic nervous system controls the internal body processes. You body does these
things automaticallt without having to think about it. Although, you could still have
control over some of the processes, such as breathing. The ANS is broken into two
different parts which is the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic
nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system speeds up bodily processes. It is
considred an alarm
Digging
Digging Digging by Seamus Heaney is the first poem in the first full volume of
Heaney s poems, Death of a Naturalist . Death of a Naturalist is about the transition
into adulthood and the loss of innocence. The poem shows how Heaney looked up
to his father and grandfather, especially their hard work. Even though Heaney did
not follow in their footsteps and become a farm laborer, he respects the work they
do, especially their skill at digging. The poem is a free verse poem. It has eight
stanzas with two couplets. It rhymes occasionally, but it does not have a patterned
rhyme. The first two lines rhyme with thumb and gun , the second stanzaalso has
some rhyming words. The poem is a first person narrative; this... Show more content

The space between I look down and Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds
(line 5 6), creates the gap of time. Heaney continues to depict his father s work
skills, and then introduces his grandma in the 6th stanza. In the second to last
stanza, the cold smell of potato mold (line 25) and the squelch and slap (line 25) is
imagery that vividly describes the digging. The last stanza says, Between my
finger and my thumb / the squat pen rests / I ll dig with it (line 29 31). That is
Heaney saying he cannot dig peat or potatoes, but he will work by digging in his
memories and writing. Mid Term Break Seamus Heaneys poem Mid Term Break is
about the loss of his younger brother. Seamus comes back from boarding school on
a break, but it is not a happy one. The unexpected death of his four year old brother
occurred while he was away, and the poem takes the audience through the journey.
The poem has eight stanzas and is written with three lines per stanza, with the last
stanza having only one line. This makes the last line have even more impact on the
reader. There is not a specific rhyming pattern, but the last word in the poem rhymes
with the last word in the previous stanza. This also highlights the importance of the
last line. Imagery such as Counting bells knelling classes to a close (line 2), the
corpse, stanched and bandaged (line 15), and
An Excerpt From A Tale Of Greedy
The next day... That afternoon Greedy saw a contest of who can jump the highest.
The entry fee was $50. I can not afford that anymore, said Greedy. Grateful ran to see
what Greedy is doing. What are you looking at? , said Grateful . I am looking at a
contest but I cannot afford it. said Greedy . I would love to give you the money,
replied Grateful , but I do not have the money either. That is all right. I know that
neither of us have any money, said Greedy. They each walked back to there own
house. Never seeing each other again for a week. Grateful walked to the library and
studied for hours. He was finally ready to make Greedy grateful. Finally Grateful
came up with a plan. I shall hypnotize Greedy into thinking
Loie Fuller s Influence On American Dance
1.INTRODUCTION
Dance first. Think Later. It s the natural Order
Samuel Beckett.
With the onset of 20th century was the beginning of the modern dance. It was born
in America due to a reason of an agitation against the two forms of dance which has
been prevailing for a long time, vaudeville and ballet. Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan,
Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn were the forerunners of modern dancein America.
Each had a different way of being unique and representing the art form of modern
dance in his or her own way. Where Loie Fuller began experimenting with effects
of gas lighting on silk costumes, Isadora Duncan discarded the slippers and adapted a
new kind of dress form more of which will be discussed later and so on.

3.7 Legacy
Martha Graham surely is correctly called as Mother of Modern Dance because of
her outstanding and most illustrious career. She has influenced a layman to a
politician with a weapon of dance. She has taken the art form dance to another level.
The amount of work she has done, all of which can t be mentioned here, she has left
enough legacy to support and inspire others and to allow them to have an idea of
evolution which she began with. She lets people interpret and communicate what she
is trying to craft from her dance and
Review Of The Crucible

What is Corruption?
Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but
in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the
struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to
corruption, but some say it was religious reasons that led to this malfeasance,
meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today s society tend to
relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of
society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through
the political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The
Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during
what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a group of girls involved in witch
like activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft just so that they
do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots
against Elizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had an affair
with. Due to these childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the
townspeople were taken to trial and found guilty of witchery and worshipping the
devil and were sentenced to hang. Not till the end did the townspeople realize their
mistake about the accusations, which turned out to be false.

Character Foils In Vaclav And Lena
In the novel Vaclav and Lena, Haley Tanner employs the use of many character
foils. Characters are placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character
accentuates the traits of another, more major character. This is particularly
prominent among the women who act as Lena s guardians. Two of the most
important women in Lena s life are Radoslava and Rasia. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya
is an elderly womanwho Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes
away and Lena moves in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy
named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as
well. Radoslava is a foil for Rasia because while both serve as maternal figures for
Lena, Radoslava s failures as a caring guardian highlight Rasia s devotion and
kindness.
Radoslava s self centeredness calls attention to Rasia s attentiveness. Radoslava s
actions make it clear that she considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Radoslava is quick to yell at Lena, saying, Yelena! I am old and I am dying, and
you have ruined my last years of peace (169). Radoslava blames Lena for
everything and considers her to be a stain on her life. Radoslava does not fulfill
her role as a kind maternal figure in this case as she makes it very clear that she
does not want to be in this situation. On the other hand, Rasia and her son Vaclav
enjoys helping Lena and consider it a blessing rather than a burden. They are more
than willing to meet Lena and become acquainted with her, both of them knowing
that they were doing something nice (68). Rasia and Vaclav find pleasure in
knowing that they are doing a good deed. Unlike Radoslava, Rasia is
unconditionally caring. Radoslava only does things for her own good and the
moment things get difficult she immediately pushes the responsibility onto Lena.
The way Radoslava treats Lena serves as a harsh contrast to the way that Rasia
willingly takes on the burden of acting like a mother for

The difficulty lies in the need to balance brevity and informativeness, encapsulating the essence of a more extensive piece in just a few concise sentences. Crafting an effective abstract requires a keen understanding of the main arguments, key findings, and the overall structure of the essay. The challenge intensifies as one must resist the temptation to delve into the details, maintaining a focus on providing a high-level overview. Striking the right balance between clarity and conciseness can be intricate, as every word in the abstract holds significant weight. • 2. Observation Of The Orme Pond Introduction: Last week, we have a chance to do a lab experiment with the Orme pond in our school. The purpose of this lab is to help us to have a closer look at an ecosystem and how things function in it. Besides, it provides us a chance to observe organisms and work with the microscope. Previously in class, we all read the book Braiding Sweetgrass by Robin Wall Kimmerer. In A Mother s Work , she talked about her pond, and surprisingly, her pond is very similar to the pond we are observing and writing about. Pond Observations: There are diverse types of vegetation live in the water like algae, small trees, ... Oligotrophic Many animals and insects live in and on the water surface such as bugs, dragonflies, spiders, snails, fishes,... The water was cold although under the hot weather. The air temperature around the pond was mild. On the bottom of the pond is mud. Edge dirt is cracked r Sample Observations: Algae Insects /bugs The water smells Microorganisms floating in the water Hypothesis: The beaker was put in the fridge for a few days and when it was brought out the mini ecosystem was still functioning. If we put a beaker of the pond water in a freezer for a 24 hours, the mini ecosystem will still be functioning. Experiment: On Friday, we put the beaker of pond sample to the fridge. The beaker was in the fridge for 2 days. After taking it out and doing observations on Monday, we realized that every organisms in the pond, from the little algae to the big bugs, is

Whether you are in China, Europe, Africa, or the United States, you have access to the internet in some way. This paper will be talking about the use of internet access around the world. Also, areas that do not have internet access or have low amount of access to the internet. This paper will also talk about broadband that are in some areas. The paper will start with a little history of how the internet first started and how it continues to develop. Next, will be broadband provided in the United States and other areas. Then, will be the use of internet in the U.S. and rural areas. After that is the use of internet using devices. Last, will the ethical analysis. 2. BACKGROUND AND SIGNIFICANCE The first internet started about 50 years ago in the United States. It started out as a government weapon for researchers to use to share data and communicate with each other. During the 1950s, the Soviet Union lunched the first satellite that was made by man into orbit. The satellite was called Sputnik. The only thing it did was traveling around the earth sending radio transmissions. After that, American scientist decided to focus more on technology and science to further advance their technology. Different corporations decided to use their government funded money and place it in scientific research and development. Even the federal government used their own money to create

I know that to be a good engineer I will have to stay up to date on current events and advancements in the world of technology, and I believe that the classes outlined in the academic plan of study will truly be a benefit to me in acquiring the necessary skills that this job will require. Although I have researched the topic of my career choice in systems engineeringextensively, I still have so many questions about it. I am eager to know how long it will take for me to climb the ladder and work my way up through each job before I could potentially become something like a project manager. I have decided to reach out to some people in this career that can better inform me on questions like this, because I want to fully know what it is that I am getting into. I know that to be a successful engineer, I will have to learn much more than just academic topics, and I am prepared to do so. • 5. Chivalry In The Song Of Roland At this point in history the men who fought the wars were lead by their leaders with a code of chivalry. Chivalry can be explained as the Anglo Saxon code on steroids. (McGee) Which is, explained further, a moral system for a good way to conduct fighting. The knights in Arthurian time went even further with that code to say that it was a way to conduct oneself not only in battle, but at all times. Knights, by being chivalrous, were kind to all people, fought well and true, kept faith and believed in the Christian God, and fought for their kings. Chivalry can be found across the Arthurian texts, The Song of Roland is one of the texts that has multiple examples of chivalry. Keeping faith with God, and the consequences of such are expressed in The Song of Roland. Ganelon broke a rule of chivalry, and when he did this, he also broke the ties he had with God. To separate himself from his lord Charlemagne was to separate himself from God. Thus he broke one of the rules of the code of chivalry. Another example from the text is when Roland was on the battlefield dying and the angels descended upon him and took his soul straight to heaven, despite how Roland had so self righteously not blown the horn to signal to Charlemagne that he needed aid. God took this, not as the sin of pride, but rather as a way of Roland protecting his lord, by not putting his lord into any unnecessary danger. This was one of the codes of chivalry, to believe in the hierarchy with God at the top. Another

Well than that news station must be biased. When a news station is biased they show favoritism towards a party, religion, cause, etc. When people are biased they alter the minds of the people. Our society runs on respect so when news stations are biased they affect our community in bad ways.Although when they use certain techniques and are honest they help our society run . In the news the anchors and writers disrespect the citizens by altering facts or avoiding certain topics. In an article Brent Bozell states That the media was hounding Mitt Romney while letting President Obama of the hook. • 7. Why The United States Has Only Two Major Political Parties Final Exam Essays Essay Prompt 1: Discuss why the United States has only two major political parties. The United States government is commonly referred to as a Duopoly , which means that there are two established political parties, Democratic and Republic, and that these two parties share the vast majority of the political power in the country. This is because the United States follows a winner takes all voting system, utilizing a single member district plurality . The single member district portion means that for each geographic area or district, there is only one elected official, and the plurality portion means that in United States elections, the representative or politician who receives the most number of votes, wins the given election, even if it s less than half the percentage of votes. According to Duverger s law, a Political Science principle, plurality voting procedures correlationally support the emergence of only two political parties, in contrast to a multiparty democracy. This is largely because there have only been two parties for so long, and these two parties have made it such a point to make their separation of ideals and beliefs blatant, so the vast majority of the voters have for the most part picked a definitive side , so to speak, and have registered as a member of the corresponding political party, that caters the most to their individual ideals. Because of this, it has made it very hard for any smaller parties to gain enough support to
  • 8. Television And Internet News Programs News or Nonsense Television and internet news programs have began to stray away from a strictly informative report of current happenings to vague, non factually based entertainment stories. This is a direct result of society s desire to worry about everyone s feelings. In the past, viewers passionately desired accurate information and statistics on the nation s current events. As of now, a different generation of viewers and new s providers bestow the supply and demand of news stories based on emotions, rather than fact. With extremist groups becoming increasingly popular the demand for highly biased news is snowballing. New s corporations like FOX capitalize on this by providing news that is consistently biased to one point of view. Having a one sided production such as FOX creates a type of animosity between them and their competition. This seems rather childish, making these top tier new companies look like a joke. In result, a viewer will struggle to find a new s broadcast that provides more than a couple of relevant stories based on factual information. Instead, the bulk of content is displayed in a look at me, feel bad for me, or look at them format. From this, the broadcasters work at the heart strings of their viewers. They get the viewer to invest emotion into a story, creating a reaction and desire to hear, see, and feel more. Given the response, broadcasters see interest in emotionally based stories skyrocket and interest in factually based stories

The three characters that relate to the theme betrayal are Macbeth, Lady Macbeth, and Macduff. Macbeth betrays the King by murdering him, so that he can take the crown. Lady Macbeth heart is not white, but filled with unfathomable emotions of stubbornness. She feels shame to not have a heart as white as Macbeth which foreshadows her downfall, because of her immoral decisions. Another scene when Lady Macbeth reflects on her immoral actions is when she is talking to herself, and a gentlewoman and doctor are around. She is feeling depressed. The aftermath of her immoral actions led to the downfall of being tormented by the smell of blood from her murder of

Constructive dismissal is not recommended due to the risks associated with it. Not only is this a list of US Presidents but it is also a list of three of the most well known Founding Fathers. Yes, they have their reasons to be because each one of them have numerous achievements and have accomplished many things that others have not. But one Founding Father often over looked, and not just because he stands five feet four inches tall, is James Madison. With all due respect, James Madison has accomplishments that stand just as well against the test of time. James Madison to me is one of the most important Founding Fathers. Please allow me to explain why I chose Mr. James Madison, the background and upbringing of him, some of his most notable contributions to the Unites States and why those contributions are still important today. The reason I chose James Madison over the rest of the Founding Fathers is because I believe he isn t as well known as he should be and with that being said, would like to inform you about him. Madison has accomplished many great things in his life that have had an effect on the United States as we know it today. Undoubtedly the biggest contribution that Madison made to the United States of America was the he was the author of the draft that was used to create the Constitution and without the constitution there really wouldn t be a frame of government. Another reason I chose James Madison is because he fought for religious freedom, believing it was an individual s right from
  • 14. Justice in Romero Essay Justice in Romero The influential and gripping film, Romero , directed by John Duigan, portrays the life and death of Archbishop Oscar Romero. The movie shows the world through the eyes of the El Salvadorian people during the 1980 s, when poverty and military rule flourished over the people. The country of El Salvadorwas run by an elite group of few who controlled most of the power and money, leaving the majority of the people deprived and powerless. This imbalance in the social system left much of the people under oppression, constantly controlled by the corrupt government and even sometimes persecuted when they tried to speak out. At first this is what Romero did, he preached to be peacemakers and not to revolt. But after the government shot their weapons into crowds indiscriminately at a worship ceremony held outside, killing a few people including a priest who was also Romero s close friend, was when Romero begins to rebuke the government and lead the struggle for justice and human rights in the country. Romero develops into a man who rocks the boat. In that, meaning he organized rallies and masses that brought the people together causing anger upon the government. He leads a peasant march into a church that is occupied by soldiers in order to perform mass, and also offends and defies the El Salvadorian president. Throughout the movie, Romero is faced with challenge after challenge from the military and government, but through it all he continued to speak to his people and praising the word of god. The film came to a tragic ending as Archbishop Romero was shot by a hired assassin during mass. Although martyred for his beliefs, his spirit lived on in the Salvadorian people. Father Romero was a very influential figure. Inclined himself by the masses of poverty stricken individuals harmed by the government, Romero was a man who was clearly in pursuit of social justice. The first step he took towards the situation was assessing the real life poverty and oppression that was at hand. Romero along with the church examined what was

I will start off with a small amount then in maybe a couple of years I will be past the expectation by far.

Access to General Higher Education in Haryana: An Inter district Analysis INTRODUCTION: Higher Education occupies a centre stage in this era of knowledge; it acts as a catalyst in promoting the acquisition of new knowledge and higher skills for development of physical and human resources and for building an environment of creative thinking and growth of individuality. There is general consensus that higher education is one of the vital factors of national development, an important social resource and means of reducing inequalities in the societies. Keeping in view the important role of higher education in transforming the society into a more enlightened, prosperous and civilized community, the Indian Governments (Central State level both) and various Commissions Committees paid special attention towards the growth and spread of higher education facilities in the country. Though, Indian higher education system has grown tremendously both in terms of size and diversity, yet there exist large disparities in the spread of higher educational facilities across States/regions in India. Some States are educationally advanced while others are relatively backward. Even within each State, some regions have better educational facilities while others lag behind. The apex body i.e. University Grants Commission identified 374 Educationally Backward Districts of India in 2009 with an aim to address the problem during the tenure of the Eleventh Five Year Plan. My main credibility stems from the fact that I am talking to my mom. My mother has known me all my life. Lake temperatures does not variate drastically, but does change gradually with every season of the year. Summer, the thermic stratification of lakes, can be studied in different layers (Figure 2). The superior level of a lake that is terminally stratified, is known to be epilimnion, which is the warmer part of the fresh water body. This water remains in the superior part because as the water gets warmer, the light of the sun becomes clearer than the dense water downward. The metalimnion is the known layer that would be ubicated beneath. This layer is defined by the thermocline where the temperature slightly decreases. In this phase, the temperature decreases 1 В°C for every single meter that descends. Hypolimnion would be the last stratified layer in a lake. This deep and cutoff from sources of air. It was estimated that the costs to repair all damage would be at approximately $5 billion. Another human factor is the earthquake mitigation through education and community awareness. Schemes such as the one in Sichuan, China helped to save thousands of lives. The weekly intervals of training in case of an earthquake, educated children and adults of what to do when the quake struck. Evacuation schemes such as the window slides or hiding under tables was reported to have saved thousands when the magnitude 8.0 hit the area in 2008. However, some were not saved due to their unwillingness to move and evacuate the area. Some people of the village, notably the poorer and elderly refused to leave as they didn t want to leave all they owned behind. The proximity of settlements to an area of seismic activity and the growth of urbanisation are two more human factors that affect the impacts greatly. These factors can cause many fatalities, but the impacts can be decreased by using land use regulations. These include land use zoning and exclusion zones, where there are laws as to the type and size of buildings able to be built in that area. This prevents many fatalities unlike in the Gujarat Earthquake, where it was estimated that 800,000 buildings were seriously damaged. A

Just one wrong turn led to a life of despair. It was his last time ever experiencing true happiness. Four years ago, Jeff was still in college when he met the girl of his dreams, or so he thought. Her name was Jessica. Jess was a quiet girl, but one day in the hall Jess bumped into Jeff and after that, it was love at first sight, though the both of them were too shy to say anything at first, they both knew from a spark in their eyes that they were destined to be together in someway. Over a year both Jess and Jeff were both going about their lives as average everyday students in college. Jeff attending his classes, doing his chores around his dorm, and keeping up with his family as they lived far from the college he was attending.Jess usually hanging with her friends, keeping up with class work and playing video games online. They only saw each other in the hall every now and then until, by some random chance of fate, they both chose the same class and were placed together, and that s when Jess thought that she had the courage to tell him how she really felt but she was too shy, so things didn t move that fast. Weeks passed until one day Jess came to school but something was different about her. Most didn t notice at first, but Jeff noticed right away. Her hair was a bright crimson red color. Millions of people all over the world depend on seafood heavily as a primary source of food. Americans alone consumed as much as 15.8 pounds of seafood per person in 2009 (NOAA). This is a lot of fish. In fact, it is so much that many populations of fish are going extinct. At this particular rate according to National Geographic, scientist predict that the earth is expected to lose all of its current fisheries by the year 2048 (Roach). The overfishing of our oceans leads to unmanageable practices that will eventually cause many species of fish to become extinct. According to National Geographic, overfishing dates back to the 1800s when humans killed off massive amounts of whale population to retrieve blubber for lamp oil (Roach). Similarly, Atlantic cod, herring, and California s sardines, were also fished to the brink of extinction by the mid 1900s. Theses cases were extremely harmful to the ecosystems food chain. To counter these losses, the United States passed the Magnuson Stevens Fishery Conservation and Management Act (NOAA). This law made it illegal for foreign countries to fish within 200 nautical miles of the United States shoreline. This would make it easier to manage illegal fishing. Congress also established eight regional councils with representation from the coastal states and fishery stakeholders. Their jobs were to come up

Archetypes In Jungian Psychology It is the purpose of this literature review to explore archetypes and complexes as part of a larger initiative to build a foundation for learning within the field of Depth Psychology. Such an exploration cannot be undertaken, however, without regard to an important psychic sub structure where complexes and archetypes interact. Therefore it is necessary to briefly discuss the unconscious before proceeding further. It can be said that psychology owes its lineage to depth psychologists who pioneered the field with bold assertions of an enigmatic influence in human behavior. Contemporary thought knows this force as the unconscious, and by contemporary we mean to say that the word itself is relatively new; to assume one can approach the unconscious only from the point of view that its concept is as new as the word itself ignores evidence to the contrary. Instead one must speak of the unconscious from the context of the totality of the human species and not from the confines of modern thought. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... A single Member of Parliament, Representative or Senator has a diverse constituency base to represent, which makes it difficult to represent a variety of often conflicting interests. This is where pressure groups are critical to representative democracyas they allow the interests of specific groups to be represented by an organisation that is dedicated to them and understands them fully. Pressure group strategy and influence are determined largely by factors such as size...financial resources, prestige position of the organization, quality of leadership and staff, and relations with the political parties... It is these factors that make pressure groups, to some extent, incompatible with representative democracy as some groups are able to make their views heard louder due to factors which can be difficult for them to change, such as the prestigious position of an interest group. For example, take the work done by various human rights pressure groups. Whilst there are many groups working to campaign and tackle the breadth of human rights abuse around the world, the first group that comes to mind for many is Amnesty International. The use of mass media of communication to influence public attitudes (Turner, 1958, p68) has allowed Amnesty International to gain a prestige over other human rights pressure groups, meaning that the equally vital work done by fellow groups such as Liberty may not be able to be represented as well to various global governments. This prestige enjoyed by some groups makes prestigious and powerful pressure groups incompatible with representative democracy because some

Since he couldn t leave the child by herself he took her with him back home to Green Gables. When Marrilla, the sister of Matthew, saw the child, she went with Anne to the orphanage to send her back. Anne being close enough to hear what Mrs. Lynde said to Marrilla got very mad and told Mrs. Lynde rude things about her. After this confrontation Marrilla had a talk with Anne about saying things to her guests and told her she must apologize. In the book Anne said she would not apologize to Mrs. Lynde so Marrilla shut her up in her room until she did. In the movie however it was completely different, with a much more dramatic effect. This time when Marrilla told Anne to apologize Anne said she would rather go back to the orphanage than go apologize to Mrs. Lynde. Though this may not seem like a big change from the book it most definitely is. During the beginning of the book you can see how much Anne adores Green Gables, and it is easily apparent that she would never give Green Gables away. It is a definite change to the story and how Anne feels about where she is. Soon after that the filmmakers created another mistake, forgetting to put a church into the movie. In both tellings of Anne of Green Gables Marrilla was a very religious woman and tried to make Anne religious too. Every Sunday she made Anne go to the community church, or at least, you assume so. Throughout the entire movie you never see Anne going to church, although you see her becoming more religious. As well, in one scene of the movie you get to see Anne walking with Marrilla and another woman, who they address as Mrs. Allen, one of the churches class teachers, as said in the book. Once again though, there is no mention of the church, there is also no reason to believe they left it out because of religious purposes as they would skip the religious remarks completely then, and

Iran has been considered a State Sponsor of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 1). This looming radiological attack in Syria backed by the Iranian regime, elected to employ State Sponsored Terrorism as its primary means, due to desiring an attack that was much bigger than anything before, but also to be able to use this attack as a statement piece as to show how the Iranian regime exactly feels about the U.S. involvement in the Middle East. The Iranian government has several strategic goals for their way of doing so called business, as the U.S. knows and calls it, State Sponsor Terrorism. Associating with terrorist groups and employing them to do the regime s dirty work, keeps Iran s hands clean to some extent. It is just like hiring a hit man . By staying out of the actual attack, although supporting it, doesn t make you the aggressor and therefore keeps you somewhat out of reach for a counter attack. They way the Iranian regime views it, you are technically not the responsible party and are therefore not the target. In the past, Iran has worked with and through terrorist groups like Hizballah or using its own operatives in a clandestine way, which enables the regime to be able to distance itself from attacks and thus often evade responsibility (Byman #2, 2015, Pg. 4). An example of this was in the 1996 Khobar Towers bombing, where Iran was ultimately found to be responsible, but proving Iran s culpability made it far harder to
  • 41. The Human Brain Many people do not understand the complexity of the human brain. Just as when one goes to buy a car they focus on the outside features instead of what is under the hood and how it works. Just as a car has an engine and other features working the car, the brain has different functions that control not only your movements, but also the way that you perceive the world. With the brainonly weighing around three pounds it is known to be the best computer system there is. The brain has to communicate with the senses and muscles in the body and it does that through neurons. The neuron transmits the information to different parts of the body and is considered a building block of the brain. Neurons make up the nervous systemwhich performs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The peripehal nervous system is broken into two brances which include the somatic nervous system and the autonomic nervous system. The somatic nervous system transmits the messages between the central nervous system and your sensory organs. It regulates movement, posture and balance. It contains your sensory and motor neurons. Once messages are transmitted through sensory neurons our brain can interpret the picture you are seeing in front you you, the food you are tastign and even a hot flame touching your finger tip. Once the message gets to the CNS it sends messages back through the motor neuron that controls movements. It has voluntary control. For example, if you touch a flame, the sensory neuron from your finger tip will send the message that it is hot and your brain will deliever a message back to move your finger. It happens almost instantly. The other branch which is the autonomic nervous system controls the internal body processes. You body does these things automaticallt without having to think about it. Although, you could still have control over some of the processes, such as breathing. The ANS is broken into two different parts which is the sympathetic nervous system and the parasympathetic nervous system. The sympathetic nervous system speeds up bodily processes. It is considred an alarm
  • 42. Digging Digging Digging by Seamus Heaney is the first poem in the first full volume of Heaney s poems, Death of a Naturalist . Death of a Naturalist is about the transition into adulthood and the loss of innocence. The poem shows how Heaney looked up to his father and grandfather, especially their hard work. Even though Heaney did not follow in their footsteps and become a farm laborer, he respects the work they do, especially their skill at digging. The poem is a free verse poem. It has eight stanzas with two couplets. It rhymes occasionally, but it does not have a patterned rhyme. The first two lines rhyme with thumb and gun , the second stanzaalso has some rhyming words. The poem is a first person narrative; this... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The space between I look down and Till his straining rump among the flowerbeds (line 5 6), creates the gap of time. Heaney continues to depict his father s work skills, and then introduces his grandma in the 6th stanza. In the second to last stanza, the cold smell of potato mold (line 25) and the squelch and slap (line 25) is imagery that vividly describes the digging. The last stanza says, Between my finger and my thumb / the squat pen rests / I ll dig with it (line 29 31). That is Heaney saying he cannot dig peat or potatoes, but he will work by digging in his memories and writing. Mid Term Break Seamus Heaneys poem Mid Term Break is about the loss of his younger brother. Seamus comes back from boarding school on a break, but it is not a happy one. The unexpected death of his four year old brother occurred while he was away, and the poem takes the audience through the journey. The poem has eight stanzas and is written with three lines per stanza, with the last stanza having only one line. This makes the last line have even more impact on the reader. There is not a specific rhyming pattern, but the last word in the poem rhymes with the last word in the previous stanza. This also highlights the importance of the last line. Imagery such as Counting bells knelling classes to a close (line 2), the corpse, stanched and bandaged (line 15), and

  • 45. Review Of The Crucible Kristina Garcia Mrs. Herrera English III December 11, 2016 What is Corruption? Corruption can mean so many things and can be interpreted in countless ways but in the most simplistic way of explaining what it is, it is the misuse of judgment, the struggle between what is right and what is wrong. No one really knows what led to corruption, but some say it was religious reasons that led to this malfeasance, meaning the devil, while others believe different. People in today s society tend to relate this topic to politics because it is most commonly occurs within that faction of society. Corruption is a reoccurring theme throughout The Crucible, it shows through the political, McCarthyism, religious and personal reasons of the Colonial Era. The Crucible takes place in the early England colonies in Salem, Massachusetts during what we know as the witch trials. It is based on a group of girls involved in witch like activities, who begin to accuse others of committing witchcraft just so that they do not get into trouble. One girl controls the group, Abigail Williams, and she plots against Elizabeth Proctor who is married to John Proctor, who Abigail had an affair with. Due to these childish and dramatic acts of Abigail and the girls, half the townspeople were taken to trial and found guilty of witchery and worshipping the devil and were sentenced to hang. Not till the end did the townspeople realize their mistake about the accusations, which turned out to be false. Political
  • 46. Character Foils In Vaclav And Lena In the novel Vaclav and Lena, Haley Tanner employs the use of many character foils. Characters are placed into similar roles and the behavior of one character accentuates the traits of another, more major character. This is particularly prominent among the women who act as Lena s guardians. Two of the most important women in Lena s life are Radoslava and Rasia. Radoslava Dvorakovskaya is an elderly womanwho Lena lives with when she is very young. Radoslava passes away and Lena moves in with her aunt. In her new neighborhood, she meets a boy named Vaclav and his mother, Rasia, who quickly becomes a guardian of Lena as well. Radoslava is a foil for Rasia because while both serve as maternal figures for Lena, Radoslava s failures as a caring guardian highlight Rasia s devotion and kindness. Radoslava s self centeredness calls attention to Rasia s attentiveness. Radoslava s actions make it clear that she considers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Radoslava is quick to yell at Lena, saying, Yelena! I am old and I am dying, and you have ruined my last years of peace (169). Radoslava blames Lena for everything and considers her to be a stain on her life. Radoslava does not fulfill her role as a kind maternal figure in this case as she makes it very clear that she does not want to be in this situation. On the other hand, Rasia and her son Vaclav enjoys helping Lena and consider it a blessing rather than a burden. They are more than willing to meet Lena and become acquainted with her, both of them knowing that they were doing something nice (68). Rasia and Vaclav find pleasure in knowing that they are doing a good deed. Unlike Radoslava, Rasia is unconditionally caring. Radoslava only does things for her own good and the moment things get difficult she immediately pushes the responsibility onto Lena. The way Radoslava treats Lena serves as a harsh contrast to the way that Rasia willingly takes on the burden of acting like a mother for
