Examples Of Literary Essays
Crafting an essay on the subject of "Examples of Literary Essays" can be a challenging endeavor
that demands a delicate balance of analytical prowess and creative interpretation. First and
foremost, delving into the realm of literary analysis necessitates a keen understanding of various
literary devices, styles, and genres. The writer must possess the ability to dissect and interpret
intricate elements such as symbolism, imagery, tone, and narrative structure.
Moreover, constructing a literary essay involves not only identifying these elements within a
given text but also weaving them together cohesively to form a compelling argument or analysis.
The writer must navigate the delicate task of seamlessly integrating textual evidence to support
their claims while maintaining a coherent and engaging narrative flow. The challenge lies in
striking the right balance between textual exploration and personal interpretation, avoiding the
pitfalls of excessive subjectivity or detached objectivity.
Furthermore, the task is compounded by the expectation to contribute original insights and
perspectives to the existing discourse on the chosen literary work. This requires extensive
research, critical thinking, and a nuanced understanding of literary criticism. It's not merely about
summarizing the plot or regurgitating established analyses but about bringing a fresh perspective
and contributing to the ongoing dialogue surrounding the literary piece.
In addition, the process of crafting a literary essay involves multiple drafts and revisions.
Refining the language, structure, and argumentation is a meticulous process that demands
attention to detail. The writer must be prepared to engage in thoughtful self-reflection and
receive constructive feedback to enhance the overall quality of the essay.
While the difficulty of writing on this topic may seem daunting, it is also an opportunity for
personal and intellectual growth. Navigating the complexities of literary analysis not only hones
one's writing skills but also deepens their appreciation for the nuances of literature.

Chrissy Teigen
You can always count on Chrissy Teigen to share too much information with her
fans on social media. And based on a recent post, John Legend s wife didn t
disappoint. Chrissy, 31, is fond of sharing precious details about her family,
husband, recipes, hair, wedding and even a cookbook that tickles her fancy. On
Monday night, Teigen gave her followers on Twitter more than they bargained for.
The topic? Period Skin. Women, by nature of the topic, can relate to Chrissy Teigen
s shareable moment, but men, feel free to read along. Teigen posted a video of her

Almost immediately in her work she addresses Kelly Gadol s argument and its
effects on the conclusions even in the early 2000s. Generally, she argues, the field
of gender history agrees upon four tenets: the lack of a unified experience of early

question posed for females to be answered for males rather than discussing the history
of man outside of genderand as men ; and, quoting Joan Scott, gender is a primary

A Doll s House And The Glass Menagerie
Symbolism is frequently used in dramatic works to represent abstract ideas and
qualities, potentially in the form of people, objects, places, or actions. Henrik Ibsen
s A Doll s House and Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie each include
various symbols to represent the social messages that the authors are trying to
convey to the audience. In A Doll s House, the central character, Nora Helmer, can
be seen as a symbolherself. Her family and her husband treat her like a doll, and this
oppression and condescension is the reason for her inner unhappiness and longing
for independence. As well, Ibsen also focuses on the solo dance that Nora performs
the Tarantella. This dance emphasizes Nora s feelings of separation and isolation

The importance of the fire escape is pronounced right at the beginning of the play:
The apartment faces an alley and is entered by a fire escape, a structure whose
name is a touch of accidental poetic truth, for all of these huge buildings are always
burning with slow and implacable fires of human desperation (Williams 1). The
fire escape is used by all of the characters to ordinarily enter and exit the apartment,
but it is also a means of escape. Laura Wingfield suffers from a bad leg that makes
her incapable of leaving her home. Since it is too difficult for her to use the stairs
of the fire escape to leave, she prefers the safety of the apartment. The one time
Laura returns from the store and uses the fire escape she trips on the stairs, clearly
demonstrating how vulnerable she is in the outside world, and how greatly she is
bound to her private world within the apartment. Conversely, Tom Wingfield, Laura s
brother, wants nothing more than to follow in his father s footsteps and leave his
family behind. He frequently uses the fire escape to go out and smoke, which shows
just how much he dislikes life inside of the apartment, and foreshadows his eventual
getaway. Williams hints at escape throughout the entire play, highlighting it as one of
the key themes. Tom is constantly comparing the loyalty he feels towards his mother
and sister versus his true longing to leave home and be free of the confines of
How Did So Many Slaves Come To America
In America s history, slaves were widely used to assist with tasks, mostly on
plantations. The first African slaves were brought to the Jamestown colony in 1619
to aid in growing tobacco, and pretty soon more and more people wanted slaves of
their own. During the 1700s, six to seven million slaves came to America. But as
long as slaverywas in the United States, slaves were dissatisfied with their lives and
wanted to escape. In the 1780s, George Washington complained of a runaway slave
who had been aided by a society of Quakers, formed for [helping slaves escape]. This
was the beginning of the Underground Railroad, a network of people who helped
slaves escape to freedom in the North or in Canada. These people were called
conductors, and the places they guided slaves to were called stops. One stop... Show

It was also a safe haven for fugitive slaves who were headed to Canada. Freedom
seekers came to the house by three different routes: through Madison, Indiana;
Jeffersonville, Indiana; or Cincinnati, Ohio. These three routes converged in
Newport, and that is where Levi Coffin s house is. The slaves stayed in Levi
Coffin s house, and then could take three more routes to complete their journey and
get to Canada for safety: to Greenville, Ohio, then to Sandusky and across Lake
Erie to Ontario, Canada; to Fort Wayne, then Adrian, Michigan and then to Canada;
and to Cabin Creek, Indiana, to Battle Creek, Michigan and across the Detroit River
to Canada. Slaves were often switched from one route to another to confuse slave
hunters. Along these routes and with the assistance of the Coffins, more than 2,000
fugitives were able to escape to Canada. Levi and Catharine were so skilled at
helping the fugitives escape that slave hunters remarked, There must be an
Underground Railroad from Newport to Canada and this house the Grand Central

The Camera Obscura By Tim Vermeer
The film mainly talks about Tim Vermeer who is a PC design manufacturer and he
concedes in the film that he is not a painter. Rather, Tim chose to study Vermeer s
artistic creations precisely from color tones to practical looking figures and objects.
He continuously trusted that regardless of the amount he attempted or whatever he
does he will never have the capacity to draw near to what Vermeer had painted.
The first intriguing perspective is Tim s test of finding the right color tone. Tim
utilized the mirror which is an exceptionally basic apparatus to identify the color
tone from any anticipated picture. He tried this analysis by setting a picture upside
down, a mirror at 45 degree point reflecting the picture before him and a paper

I was surprised that artists in the seventeenth century utilized innovation to concoct
incredible compositions. The Camera Obscura comprises of a container or a divider
that is sufficiently enormous for the artist to remain in and penetrate a gap in the
divider. So that the picture of what is outside of the case is specifically anticipated on
the divider where the artist is. At that point they utilize a focal point that is set in the
opening; this will help them to make the picture clearer and in addition controlling
the measure of the picture through changing the flow or position of the focal point.
At last, artist starts the following procedure of the picture that is anticipated from the
focal point. This is the thing that Tim trusted, that it is conceivable that Vermeer
painted specifically from a focal point since in the Music Lesson painting, there are
extremely troublesome light ranges that Vermeer had painted and can t be seen by
human eye unless on the off chance that you were looking through a camera. Despite
the fact that some may call this bamboozling and not by any stretch of the
imagination of an artist since he followed what was anticipated to him from the focal
point yet I trust this was the best way to get reasonable and consummate looking
What Does Milton Use Of Figurative Language
John Milton was an author who was a strong believer in the use of faith and
expressed that through his personal experiences in his sonnets. Not only did he try to
argue the importance of freedom of religion but also the influence of important
leaders on his views. Milton used figurative language and personification to show the
negative impact that the disturbance of freedom of religionhad on people not only
politically but also personally. Milton shows these characteristics in the following
sonnets: On the New Forcers of Conscience under the Long Parliament, To the Lord
General Cromwell, and How Soon Hath Time. John Miltonused figurative language
through his sonnet On the New Forcers of Conscience under the Long Parliament to

Like Milton, Cromwell was a fervent advocate for liberty of conscience against the
force of civil power (Lobo 781). Milton used figurative language to describe the
sacrifices that Cromwell had done in order to be recognized as a leader. Praising
Cromwell s martial victories, Milton also recognizes that Cromwell s reputation
has suffered detractions rude from both satiric royalist accounts and Presbyterian
attacks on his toleration (Lobo 785). General Cromwell s actions towards saving
religion toleration are what brought Milton the use of personification to be able to
describe his character. Milton asks for the help of Cromwell when he says Help us
to save free conscience from the paw and uses the word conscience to refer to the
battle within his mind to fight for the freedom of religion. Milton is praising
Cromwell as a God figure that came and saved those from the dominance of the
Presbyterian system. On verse 3 Guided by faith and matchless fortitude (Milton
1941) Milton used figurative language by stating that Cromwell was the figure that

Ia Dang Civil War
The first major battle of the Vietnam War was the battle of Ia Drang. This conflict
took many casualties on both sides in just two days. There have been many books
and articles that have been written about the battle. There was even a major
Hollywood movie titled We Were Soldiers that dramatized the battle. Most of the
public thinks of the conflict as a very bloody battle fought by the 1 7, 1st Cavalry
Division, led by Lieutenant Colonial Harald G. Moore (Warren, 2015). While this is
accurate, what is not known about the battle is the 1st Cavalry Division, utilized a
technique called air mobile, now known as air assault, to employ multiple forces
throughout the battlefield for the first time in combat. Air mobile was not just used to

The primary howitzer during this era was the M101, 105mm howitzer. The M101
had a range of 11.5KM without rocket assist and 15.1KM with rocket assist
projectile. The max rate of fire for the piece was 10 rounds per minute with 3
rounds per minute sustained (Olive Drab, 2012). Although there was not much to the
construction of the M101, it played a huge part in the Vietnam War. The howitzer
was capable of firing rounds quickly and accurately to not only kill and suppress the
enemy, but it also helped the infantry move closer to their objective. Some of the
rounds that the M101 shot consisted of HE, smoke, and chemical. Each of these
ammunitions played a precise times (Olive Drab, 2012). During the battle of Ia

Makeup Essay
Makeup is universal, and the concept of beauty is constantly changing along with
new and upcoming trends. When new music videos, games, or movies and shows
premier, makeup artists and lovers of makeup use that as inspiration. On social
medias like twitter and instagram, people share their work. For example, about a
year ago an app called Pokemon Go was popular. Furthermore, on twitter individuals
shared their makeup looks based off of different pokemon. In addition, when new
Disney movies are released, such as Frozen or Moana, people will not just create a
makeup look, but articulate abstract art on their eyelids. I personally am a self taught
makeup enthusiast and learned the skills and techniques I use today from watching

However, freshman year of high school arrived, and I got an iphone. After
installing apps such as instagram, twitter, and youtube, a whole new world of
social media and what was popular and trending arose. While scanning through
apps, I stumbled across amazing makeup artists on youtube. Youtube is an
evergrowing community on the internet. In 2017, there are many brilliant makeup
artists, such as Nikkie Tutorials, Manny Mua, Jaclyn Hill, Jeffree Star and more.
Those are just a few of the artists I watch. The amazing thing about time and trends
throughout the years, is that you can literally see how these trends in makeup are
changing by looking at these videos from the beginning to end, like a timeline.
Artists such as the ones I listed above are the sources of many of the trends that we
see on social media today. I never took the time to notice just how many things that
I do with makeup is because of these youtubers and social media. For example, I had
no clue what highlighter was until about two years ago. If I did not see my favorite
youtubers use this product, I most likely would never have bought it. This is the
concept that I noticed with most beauty trends. Makeup looks such as winged
eyeliner (which my father will never understand the sorcery behind), contouring, fake

Globalization and India s Rising Demand for Foreign Brands: Lessons for Marketers
Globalization
Globalization is an inevitable phenomenon that is leading the entire world towards
becoming one market, a global village. With the world becoming a single market,
globalization has had a major contribution in enabling the organizations worldwide
to step out of the restricted domestic markets and to set up their operations across
the globe with confidence. This has largely led to a decline in the importance in
national borders and a greater emphasis on what the consumers actually demand no
matter the consumer is located in the very country in which the organization exists or
an entirely different part of the world. Moreover, with the rapid increase in global
competition, companies that strictly adhere to and cater to the needs of the local
markets are finding themselves at a disadvantage and gradually losing the
competitive advantage that they so much strived to achieve. However, for some
products and services the tastes and preferences of consumers in different nations are
beginning to converge on some global norm.
The Word Assimilation
The word assimilation has many different meanings. Its interpretations range from the
digesting of nutrients to the transfer of similar sounds. However, when sifting
through the various definitions of assimilation, there is one concept that always
seems to stand out. No matter what the source is or how it s worded, there is almost
always a reference to cultural groups. Whether it s the acceptance of a group or the
alteration of it, the customs of contrasting cultures continuously come up. One such
definition, according to the AudioEnglish.org dictionary, based on WordNet 2.1 and
supported by Princeton University, states assimilation is the social process of
absorbing one cultural group into harmony with another. Kristyn Hammond, a college
composition professor in the Texas A M school system, describes in her eHow article
Types of Assimilation, published on September 06, 2014, that as cultures mix and
evolve, there is a transition of cultural traits, language acquisition and cultural
identities from each group to the other. AudioEnlgish.org also relates terms such as
Americanization and Westernization to assimilation, but unfortunately, these
processes aren t always as harmonious as the definition suggests. Hammond states
later in her article that, While assimilation can be a brutal and violent condition of
forced integration, it can also be a peaceful combination of cultures. Unfortunately, in
the American experience, there are more examples of oppressive enterprises

Globalized Violence:
The Connection Between Western Capitalism and Mexican Femicide Globalization:
a process of interaction between the social, economic and political systems of
different nations, a process powered by international trade and investment. Some
assert that globalization encourages the spread of more enlightened and egalitarian
Western values and international tolerance, while others believe that this
phenomenon harms more than it helps and fosters an uncontrolled and abusive
economic environment. There is no shortage of opinions on the matter, though one
sure point of fact is that globalization affects all aspects of modern life, including
the murky world of gendered violence. Between the signing of NAFTA in 1992 and
the middle of 2002, just shy of three hundred blue collar female factory workers
were murdered in the border town of Juarez, Mexico. However, these numbers are
simply the tip of the iceberg when compared to the four hundred and fifty additional
disappearances during that decade, a grand total that is only increasing with each
passing year. In short, these murders eventually sparked international intrigue and
distress, forcing the world to take a closer look at some of the uglier consequences
of globalization. Essentially, the femicides of Juarez are simply a symptom of a
patriarchal society unconcerned with the lives of its workforce, a culture that values
products more than the people who produce them: the overlapping timelines of the

The Comic Strip And Its Subsequent Parts Essay
How to make a superhero comic strip and its subsequent parts
Description: Writing an initial superhero comic strip and following it up with sequels
is a tedious and time consuming task. However, it is easy with the new online tools,
which are available.
The best way to make a superhero comic strip is to use pre set templates available
on the internet. You can use various templates provided by various sites. The easiest
are the ones provided by Marvel Comics official website and other such websites.
They are easy to use and can be created according to your own preferences, using
the options available. Read the following article for an overview of the different
tools and options available on the sites, and a brief idea about how to use them to
make a comic strip, an entire book or a complete series.
Before creating a comic strip
Before you make a comic strip, keep in mind that you have to have a clear idea of
the storyline how it starts, proceeds, rises in action, reaches a climax, falls in action
and ends. The theory that applies to writing a novel applies here too! Comic strips
are nowadays included in the modern genre of Graphic Novels, and thus have the
same basic format. Also keep in mind that you need to have the character of the
superhero ready. You can develop it as the story proceeds, but the reader should
have a basic idea about whom and how he is, from the start. This implies that you,
the creator, have a complete idea at least a rough one about what you

Life Of Pi Science Vs Religion
Yann Martel s Life of Pi is the story of a young man who survives a painful,
terrifying shipwreck and months in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger named Richard
Parker. The book describes Piscine (Pi) Patel s life and harrowing journeys after
the shipwreck that took the lives of many people immigrating to Canada, including
his own mother and countless animals from the family s zoo. Pi must survive on a

Postoperative Nausea
Management of a Patient with Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting
Susanne Frycek
Advocate Lutheran General Hospital
Introduction Post Operative Nausea and Vomiting (PONV) is defined as any nausea,
retching or vomiting occurring during the first 24 hours after surgery (Oxford
Journals). It is an uncomfortable and unpleasant experience for the patient and can
adversely affect the post recovery outcome by causing dehydration, electrolyte
imbalance, aspiration, wound dehiscence, increasing length of stay (LOS),
unanticipated admission, and increased healthcare costs, not to mention a top
concern and great dissatisfier for the patient (JPN, Hodgens). Since approximately

It is a large patient dissatisfier with many of my patients telling me that they would
rather experience post operative pain (which they expected) than nausea (which they
did not expect). The pathophysiology of PONV is very complex, because it can be
triggered by several perioperative stimuli; including opioids, volatile anaesthetics,
anxiety, adverse drug reactions and motion( ). The complex set of activities that
culminate in vomiting come from two anatomically unique and distinct units within
the brain stem; the vomiting center and Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ) (Smith
Collins, 2011, p.36). They receive information/signals from a number of outlying
sources and their excitement triggers vomiting. The vomiting center receives afferent
(nerve fibers carrying sensory information toward a location) signals from several
major sources; Viseral afferents from the Gastrointestinal Tract (GI distention,
irritation), Viseralafferents outside the GI tract (Bile ducts, heart, variety of other
organs), afferents from outside the area of the vomiting center of the brain
responsible for vestibular disturbances (motion), psychic stimuli (odors, fear) and
trauma, along with the CTZ. Since the Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CRZ) is
situated outside of the blood brain barrier its responsibility is to detect chemical
abnormalities in the body, such as
Whale Rider Themes
There is also a clear theme across New Zealand films relating to family related
issues, including acceptance from relatives and what some young people do to
gain it. The 2002 film directed by Niki Caro, Whale Rider, is centered around
Paikea, a young girl who was rejected by her grandfather as the leader of their
community due to her gender. She seeks his approval, though he is reluctant to help
her due to the culture s traditions. Such approval seeking is prevalent amongst New
Zealandfilm, notably in the 2010 film by Taika Waititi, Boy. The main character,
named Boy, is reunited with his father, Alamein, whom he idolises and tells stories
about to kids at his school. His image of his father is overinflated and most of the

Abstract:
A non ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE ACS) is a very common
presentation to emergency departments everywhere, as well as primary care
practices. Therefore, it is important that all providers be well informed on the
effectivity of certain treatment regimens. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Research shows that due to the greater frequency of PCI in various trials, Brilinta
was showed to have greater benefit over Plavix in NSTE ACS patients.
NSTE ACS blah blah and mention statistics and other sources. This research
involving current literature was conducted to determine if there is any difference in
antiplatelet therapy with Plavix, when compared to Brilinta. With this knowledge,
providers can be properly informed about choosing the best treatment for their
patients.
Methods:
In order to conduct this research paper, access was gained into the University of
Texas Rio Grande Valley library website (http://www.utpa.edu/library). Under the
heading of Articles and Databases , Pub Med was selected. Entering the key words
Brilinta , NSTE ACS and Brilinta vs Plavix this search was conducted. This search
was conducted on several separate occasions. Over 350 articles were returned with
these key words mentioned in the title.
After the initial search, about 35 journal readings had to be read thoroughly and
closely analyzed. From which, 10 of these journal articles were deemed pertinent to
this manuscript. These publications were then saved, printed, and re analyzed for key
information. All publications were chosen from reputable sources via online and only
pertinent information relating to this manuscript will be discussed.
Results:
NSTE ACS is a diagnosis a provider should never miss.
Cosmos Vs Religion
When attending various classes that educate students on the science of the world, it
seems, as there is not much room for argument. We are taught concepts that stand for
no contradiction, for example, the functions and structures of the human body.
However, when discussing, for instance, the creation of the Earth and the cosmos,
scientism may be at play. At what point does a person step back and bring religion
into the conversation when talking about the creation of the cosmos? When is it that
a scientific explanation is not the only explanation? The example mentioned above
concerning the cosmos and its origin is one that brings in the conversation of
religion, and understanding what the balance between scienceand religion is in the

Vietnam Memorial Trajan
Art is not only meant to stimulate our eyes and please our sight but it is meant to
reflect history. Art can reflect social/political themes and showcase events such as
wars or battles. No matter the era, or geographical location, art is made to tell the
history of the people. Such storytelling can be found in Maya Lin s Vietnam
Memorial and The Column of Trajan. These two works of art are similar and are also
very different. Regardless of these similarities and differences, they both had strong
impacts in their time and still do to this very day. The United State s various attempts
to stop Communism from spreading brought about many conflicts among countries.
These conflicts sometimes led to many deaths and casualties, such as in the Vietnam

First of all, the material of which these two works were made from are vastly
different. The memorial was made out of black granite and the column was made
from carrara marble. Also, the physical shape of the two pieces are different. The
memorial is a flat wall surface that goes up in an angle meanwhile the column is a
curved surface and has bands of reliefs going upwards. Another example showing
the difference between the two is the political reasoning as to why these works of
art were made. The Vietnam Memorial was made of remembrance of a war the U.S
fought in and lost meanwhile, The Column of Trajan serves to remind the people of
the battles Trajan had one. In which case, one showed the loss and the other the
wins. Another way to look at the Column of Trajan is to see it as an advertisement,
or imperial propaganda. The reliefs in the column portray Trajan as an amazing
emperor and an efficient army commander. This could have influenced the Romans at
the time to like him and teach them what to expect from any other emperor after
Trajan. This differs from the Vietnam Memorial due to the fact the memorial is
simply a memorial, something to remember those who died, not to influence others to
like a ruler or not. Overall, the Vietnam Memorial and the Column of Trajan share

Daisy Miller Social Norms
In reading Henry James beautiful novella, Daisy Miller: A Study, one is forced to
bear witness to a few disquieting facts pertaining to the upper class of late 1800 s
America. Starting with that which is well known, it is quite obvious that the upper
echelons of society have strict social norms. Though this has always been (and might
well always be) true, they seem to have been quite a bit more stringent in the time,
and many more were genderrelated. Men must stand when a lady approaches, women
must not go out in public alone, one must not have a personal connection with the
help , and so on. These norms seem to have been particularly restricting for women,
and reduced their options significantly. The second, which also happens to be common
Literary Devices In Middlemarch
In Middlemarch, George Eliot utilizes several literary devices to portray her two
characters and their complex relationship that reveals their marriage is dominated by
the husband who objectifies his wife into silence. Throughout the passage, Eliot
makes it clear that Rosamond and Tertius Lydgate are in an uneven relationship,
considering Tertius refuses to listen to his wifewho seems to only have his best
interest at heart, yet still, he continues to yell at her for thinking she knows what is
best for him. With the help of details, Tertius s critical tone, and imagery, Eliot is
able to showcase how complex their relationship is when it comes to Rosamond
giving her opinions and ideas, just to be casted to the side. In several parts of the
passage, Eliot hints that Rosamond loves her husband, however, is constantly
disciplined by Tertius when she speaks up on his actions. With her selection of
details, it exemplifies the complexities of the couple s marriageand how as a
newlywed, their life together is only just beginning, yet already, Rosamond is getting
cold feet. This is asserted when it states, the thought in her mind was that if she had
known how Lydgate would behave, she would never have married him (77 79). Eliot
explains how Rosamond is doubting Tertius s lovefor her, considering the fact he is
always making her feel inferior to him. Certain details such as Rosamond being
sensitive and a young creature who had known nothing but indulgence and whose
Post Conquest Mexico Essay
In 1521, the fall of Tenochtitlan proved to be an integral piece in the Spanish
conquest of Mexico. After months of devastating warfare between the Aztecs and
the Spanish as well as the infection of smallpox into the Aztec population, the
Spanish conquered New Spain (Mexico) as their own, resulting in the Spanish
occupation and rebuilding of Tenochtitlan. The reshaping of the city was an arduous
and complex feat to say the least, as Hernan CortГ©s faced many challenges
following the satisfying victory of the conquest. In order to determine these various
challenges involved in post conquest Mexico, one must assess the various feats
CortГ©s struggled through as well as Carlos I s attempts to deal with the chaos in
Mexico. The most decisive endeavours that the Spaniards faced included: fixing a
city of ruins, incorporating the indigenous peoples into society, and creating a
Christian basis throughout the land. Thus, post conquest Mexico faced a magnitude
of challenges based on the socio political, religious, and economic values necessary
to conceive their perfect image... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The significance in solving the problems of rebuilding Tenochtitlan, bringing the
natives into the Spanish homelands, and creating a Christian society in New Spain
were integral to the initial success of the Spanish colonies. CortГ©s and Carlos I
were key players in the promotion of the goals of the Spanish empire in creating a
New Spain that is admired among the Spanish people. Overall, the chaos and lack
of order among the initial framework of New Spain was easily overcome as the
communal effort of the Spaniards led to the creation of their empire through
rebuilding a city from ruins after the conquests. In closing, CortГ©s was a great
leader in the conquest of Mexico and hurdled over the many obstacles facing New

Buchi Emecheta and African Traditional Society Essay
Buchi Emecheta s literary terrain is the domestic experience of the female
characters, and the way in which these characters try to turn the table against the
second class and slavish status to which they are subjected either by their husbands
or the male oriented traditions. Reading Buchi Emecheta informs us of the ways
fiction, especially women s writing, plays a role in constructing a world in which
women can live complete lives; a world that may provide women with opportunities
for freedom, creativity, self expression, friendship and love. Welesley Brown Lloyd

(xii) Emecheta s first novels which are set in Nigeria, The Salve Girl, The Bride
Price and The Joys of Motherhood work like a double edged sword. On the one hand,
they are portraits of female bondage (Frank 749), describing African women in their
total submergence and enslavement. On the other, they depict the structures and
institutions which empower women and increase their participation in the socio
political, economic and spiritual activities in their community. In these three novels
she gives a picture of women in contemporary society as well as those in the past.
The realistic picture provided by the writer destroys women s contentment with the
present state of affairs while giving insights into the strategies that enable women to
survive the oppressions of patriarchal society. Two types of women are presented in
these novels: those that concede to oppression and domination of the patriarchal
society and those who try hard to exploit the existing institutions of their society for
their best. It is mainly in these three novels that the writer intends to show the
positive possibilities offered to women in the traditional African society which helps
them have some degrees of authenticity and also remind the readers of colonialism s
responsibilities in depriving women of these rights and thus aggravating the
subjugation. In an Igbo society there are

My Reflection On The Court Trip
This is a report of my reflection on the court trip that my class, CLU 3M attened on
May 18, 2016. This report contains my reflection on what I did that day, what I
saw, and my opinion on our judicial system. In this report some of the terms that I
recognized during the trips are bolded, and I have elaborated on the meanings of
the terms. I will conclude this report with my opinion the court process. Brad and I
walked into the provincial court on Wyndham street at approximately 8:40 am.
Provincial courts are the lower courts in the jurisdiction. As soon as I noticed 4
clipboards that had pages with a list of names and timing on them, this was also
referred as a docket. The names were the offenders of the case, and there time
represented their trial time. An offender is the person who had committed the
illegal act. As I walked down the narrow hall I joined in with the rest of the class.
We were sitting in the waiting area, and near the sign that said duty counsel. Duty
counsels are lawyers that can give the accused advise on what they should when
the accused do not have a lawyer. As we waited a lawyer came outside of the office
and yelled, If anybody needs duty counsel . I noticed there were two court rooms,
both had their own dockets. The court room was separated by the waiting area, and
the vending machine. As I waited for Mr. Fast to come, I looked around and saw
some really sketchy looking people, I even recognized two from my elementary

The article then proceeds with a brief history of how our views of cleanliness came to

the evil people, Furies, were filthy; cleanliness was used to represent the Gods, which
explains the phrase cleanliness is next to Godliness. The author then goes on by

Outsourcing Repairs On Major Aircraft Components
Outsourcing Repairs on Major Aircraft Components: The Financial and Time Saving
Benefits.
Executive Summary
For decades airlines have turned to third party Maintenance Repair and Overhaul
(MRO) facilities and contractors to take on the tasks of performing maintenance on
their fleet of aircraft s. But over the past few years, airline companies have been
relying on these facilities more and more due to the supply and demand of air
travel. Third party MRO s provide a service of outsourced labor to perform
maintenance on the aircraft s, which allows airline companies to focus on other
things. These MRO facilities specialize in a vast amount of maintenance, from basic

Sacrificing an aircraft to be out of commission for a couple weeks is more cost
effective than having to perform lengthy maintenance procedures such as engine
overhauls and phase maintenance by our crew. Third party companies such as
Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, and even Rolls Royce are used to do certain
types of maintenance and troubleshoot problems for airline companies. A 1997
General Accounting Office (GAO) report estimated that one half of the maintenance
performed by United States airlines is actually outsourced to repair stations, creating
an extremely competitive environment within the third party aviation maintenance
industry (FAA, 2003.) Not only does outsourcing maintenance save money in the
short term, it also saves money in the long term.
Many third party organizations are providing long term service contracts with airlines
so that they can feel secure and know that the cost for parts and labor will not
fluctuate throughout the years. This is why many airlines have created alliances and
service agreements with many Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) and third
party Maintenance Repair and Overhaul (MRO) stations to perform their maintenance
and servicing. Another benefit of outsourcing is that it allows the airlines to cut back
permanent maintenance personnel. This saves them money by reducing paid out
salaries for long term workers. As head of the Maintenance department with
Electrophilic Aromatic Cation Lab Report
The purpose of this experiment was to perform a nitration of a monosubstituted arene
by electrophilic aromatic substitution and the second part of the experiment was to
determine the relative reactivities of five different arenes using electrophilic aromatic
bromination.
DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION
In electrophilic aromatic substitution, an atom that is attached to an aromatic
compound is replaced by an electrophile. The stability of aromatic rings makes the
need for a very strong electrophile for the molecule to be formed. Nitro groups and
halogens are good examples of the kind of electrophiles that should be used. The
rate of the reaction and direction are affected by the electrophile. A carbocation
intermediate is formed when the electrophile attacks one of the double bonds on the
molecule and breaks it. The double bond can be reformed by a nucleophile that
attacks it as a base. As stated, a very strong electrophilic ion is needed to change the
stability of the aromatic ring. In the case of two electrophiles, the stronger one should
be used to create the strong cation which can then break the double bond.
An aromatic compound with a functional group on it creates three different isomeric
products because substitution can happen in either the otho , meta , ... Show more

The ring activating reactants were electron donating because they had electron lone
pairs and therefore reacted faster. The reactants that were ring deactivating reacted
slower because of they were attached to electron withdrawing groups. The reaction
order from fastest to slowest was as predicted with phenol being the fastest, then
anisole, 4 bromophenol, acetanilide, and diphenyl ether being the slowest due to the
electron withdrawing group joined to it. These outcomes are constant with the
concepts of ring activating and deactivating functional

employment of the individual country where the outsourced employees are
localized. Working hours and days may be more limited than in the United States.
Conversely, employment laws in some places are less harsh and employees may

But what if we seek beyond the consequences it brings us but instead notice the

was by researching the illness. Survival of the Sickest, written by Dr. Sharon

The Indus Valley Civilization
The Indian society adopted a class or caste system from the Indus Valley people.
Just like the Indus society had priest rulers, the Indian society has the high class
Indian Brahmins, which are seen as the priestly class. Trade was a very big part of
the Indus Valley society, everything that they did, everything that they made was to
ensure that they were able to create and trade more effectively. The class system
during the Indus Valley civilizationis extremely similar to the class system seen in
Pakistan and Indiatoday. There were farmers, who grew crops, mustard, sesame,
grapes, dates, melons, and khan. There were traders, these people were extremely
good at what they did, and this is one of the reasons why the Indus Valley
Civilization was able to prosper for so long. There were craftsmen, these people
made things for people to use in everyday life. Just like today, they would be
people that would make things and other people who would buy them. This
contributed to the stability of the Indus civilization. Just like most ancient
civilizations, priests played an important part in ruling the civilization. They were
seen as the closest to God, and that is why they were given such authority and
power. For people who follow religions, the religious leaders are very important
because they are seen as all knowing are respected by the people of the religious
community.
Just like the present, people in the Indus Valley Civilization loved fashion and some

Advantages Of Protein Engineering
INTRODUCTION
Protein engineering is the method of developing almost innumerable useful and
valuable new proteins or improving the old ones. It s a branch of molecular biology
still in its infancy. Lot of research and development taking place by dwelling in to the
understanding of protein folding and finding recognition for various protein designing
principles and its efficacy. Protein Engineering can be divided into two parts
depending upon the strategies used for developing the protein.
1)Rational protein designing.
2)Directed evolution.
They are not generally mutually exclusive or codependent which means scientists can
generally use one or both of the ways to develop proteins. As and when the science

In this method of protein designing the scientist uses the already available details
and was knowledge of the structure and function of proteins to make the necessary
desired changes, Generally and technically it is comparatively inexpensive and easy
because site directed mutagenesis techniques are well known and well defined and
well developed however the flip side of the coin is detailed structure and functional
knowledge of the protein in discussion is required which is open and available and
even when available in general it can be extremely difficult due to difficulty in
production of various mutation
DIRECTED EVOLUTION/ RANDOM MUTAGENESIS
The techniques under this branch of protein engineering is random mutagenesis is

Manipulation And Manipulation In Medea
THE USE OF MANIPULATION IN MEDEA After her husband Jason decides to
marry the princess of their home, Medea comes up with a plan to get back at him,
his bride, and her father. Throughout the book, Medea is shown as a malevolent
villain who is very dangerous. Her plan is to send her children with a gift of a
dress and a wreath for Jason s new bride which was covered with a deadly poison
that would kill her and her father when they touch the gift. She then planned to kill
her children and flee the land under the protection of Aegeus, the king of a
neighboring land. Furthermore, there are challenges such as being exiled from the
land. In Medeaby Euripides, Medea manipulates people to get what she wants by
lying and telling the truth. The main person Medea manipulates is Jason, her unloyal
husband. When Medea found out about his new wife, she was devastated and wept
about it. After a while, she wanted to get revenge on Jason, his bride, and the king of
Greece for letting this arrangement happen. In order to start his plan, she must
manipulate Jason into thinking she is fine with the marriage. This allows Medea to
gain some of Jason s trust, enough to go through with her master plan. In an article
called Understanding Influence and Persuasion by John Mariotti, he states, Convince
someone to buy what you sell or to change to the direction you wantto go (Mariotti).
This is what Medea does throughout the book. She uses her manipulation skills to go
in the direction she wants

Civilian and military relations are important because it determines who controls the
armed forces and the extent to which the armed forces control the country. During the
film, Dr. Strangelove, asked the question, Is the President in control of the U.S.
nuclear weapons? Most military personnel are not okay with the fact that when
something occurs like the Civil War that they cannot make a decision themselves,
instead they have to wait for the President to come up with a plan and then they are
to execute whatever the President decides. Generals Turgidson and Ripper do not
seem to respect the President. During the film the President wanted to talk and
figure out a plan before he decides if taking out 90 percent of the civilian
population is something he wanted to happen while he is the president. Civilians
often think twice about what to do when something bad happens but military
personal are prompt with taking action when something happens. During the film
when crew members received word from the base that they were set for Wing
Attack Plan R , and Major Kong said, Folks back home is counting on ya and by

was civilians and other people before themselves. No one ever thinks twice about
why the military did this or did that. People often think the military cares only
about themselves but it can be shown by the crew members that that is not true.
The military is often put into situations where they have to quickly make a
decision and not think twice about it. This can be hard to do but the military
always tries to do what seems to be the best not only for others such as civilians but
also themselves. Another scene in the film is right after the base got notified of a
possible attack, it is said over the intercom Our nation is counting on you and I know
you won t let them down . This scene again
Our Right to Drugs Essay example
Our Right to Drugs
You might be tempted to label Thomas Szasz, author of Our Right to Drugs, The
Case for a Free Market, a counter culture hippie. However, this analysis couldn t be
further from the truth. Szasz, a Professor Emeritus of Psychiatry at the State
University of New York Health Science Center in Syracuse, is a major supporter of
civil liberties. He sees the so called War on Drugs as one of the worst atrocities that
the American Government has perpetrated on its people. Szasz contends that the
prohibition of certain drugs, including common prescription drugs, is nothing more
than the government telling the people that father knows best . It is this paternalistic
attitude that Szasz finds so oppressive. Mr. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

In this system of laissez faire, the government has a very small role. According to
Szasz, the government should have a passive role in any market, including the
market for drugs. Once the government gives up its active role, which is
represented by the war on drugs , a free market for drugs which Szasz proposes can
be attained. As we delve into Mr. Szasz s first argument, we begin to see major
problems with the government s War on Drugs . According to Szasz, the prohibition
of drugs is a blatant violation of human rights guaranteed to American citizens by the
Constitution. In order to prove his point, he equates drugs to personal property.
According to the Constitution, every American citizen shall have the inalienable
right to life, liberty, and property, the first two elements resting squarely on the last.
(Szasz, 1). Thus, Szasz contends that because both our bodies and drugs are types of
property producing, trading in, and using drugs are property rights, and drug
prohibitions constitute a deprivation of basic constitutional rights. (Szasz, 2). In other
words, just like the prohibition of alcohol required a constitutional amendment, so
does the prohibition of drugs. Without that amendment, the prohibition of drugs is in
direct violation of the
The Issue, Racism And Segregation
The issue, Racism and segregation in sports. The answer, Jackie Robinison. A life
is not important except in the impact it has on other lives, a quote by Jackie
Robinson. Jack Roosevelt Robinson, born on January 31st, 1919 in Cairo,
Georgia. His mother Mallie and his father Jerry were sharecroppers at the time and
lived on a plantation. Jerry Robinson made just about $12 dollars a month which
was not enough to support a total of five children. Jerry went to his boss and was
allowed the opportunity to become a half cropper which means that he gains profit
off of the produce. This allowed him to gain a higher income and therefore provide
for his family. Six months after Jackie s birth, his father went to go visit his brother
in Texas and never returned. They soon found out that Jerry had actually ran away
with the neighbors wife. To this day Jackie has no idea what became of his father
but could only look at him with disdain because he asked himself what type of man
would leave his wife and 5 kids to fend for themselves in such an oppressive time
period? Jackie and his family then moved to Pasadena, Ca. When his family moved,
Jackie s mother, with help from her niece, moved into a white neighborhood. Manfred
Weidhorn noted in his biography, Jackie Robinson, Jackie was proud of his mother,
who would not allow the white neighbors to drive her away or frighten her or
mistreat her kids. From her he learned to stand up for his rights. He learned to respect
himself, demand
War Is A Mere Continuation Of Policy
War is a mere continuation of policy by other means ( Carl Von Clausewitz, On War,
1873)
This claim made by Carl Von Clausewitz in 1873 reflects a traditionalist perspective
of war as an act of state sovereignty for political attainment (Debrix, Barder, 2012 :
39). It has been argued that a definition of war, as an act of inter state power play, no
longer reflects contemporary geopolitics (Reed, 2013: 130). Instead, the distinction
between internal and external politics is no longer clearly defined: contemporary
warfare involves a combination of state and non state actors, organized crime
networks and a resurgence of identity politics (Kaldor, 2002: 1946 1948).
The term New Wars which is used to juxtapose this transformation in contemporary
warfare has been widely debated: some scholars suggest that an emphasis on the
Cold War, and the impact of its eventual collapse, overshadowed small, low
intensity conflicts (Balabanova, 2007 : 29). Others suggest that the claims of
increased human rights abuses in contemporary warfare, and an increase in
intrastate wars, is empirically false and that there has in fact been a decrease in war
and civilian causalities since the collapse of the Cold War (Malesevic, 2010 : 60).
This essay will analyse what is new about new wars. It will firstly present the new old
dichotomy presented throughout the literature, which distinguishes four broad
categories of transformation: the scope of warfare, the transition from ideological to
How The Erie Canal Shaped And Reshaped The Identity Of
New...
The Erie Canal, which was three hundred sixty miles, forty feet wide and four feet
deep at its completion, was able to bridge a connection from Lake Erie to the
Hudson and was a reliable form of transportation (as the roads were not the network
it is today). The Erie Canal, after its construction was able to rupture the boundaries
of western and eastern (northeastern) New York and encouraged inward and
outward flow (migration) of people, animals, goods, money, trade, sickness and
disease, ideas, and news, and was able to deconstruct as well as reconstruct the
identity of New York State as a consequence of its success. The purpose of this
paper is to illustrate how the Erie Canal shaped and reshaped the identity of New
York State through the compression and expansion of space and time during
industrialization, the second wave of globalization, through the canal s economic
success, and through the rupturing of boundaries. The Erie Canal has been
praised for years as a well known legendary waterway around the world (Larkin
1998). The canal has been termed as the greatest public work undertaken by a free
society solely for the benefit of its people...the undertaking was a prodigious one
(Edmonds 1960, p. 1). After opening in 1825, the Erie Canal was named the longest
canal in the world and opened the West to become a globalized nation, brought
affluence to New York State as well as establishing New York City
as a shipping port
(Wyld 1986). It can be argued that the
Buddhist Meditation Practice Essay
Over this past year I have been involved in a buddhist meditation practice, I have been
through stages of resisting, doubting, and now more accepting this practice. The
buddhist meditation practice I participated in is a controversial religion in Taiwan.
Even though the religion has almost a hundred thousand followers including
celebrities and business leaders, the religionitself is still being judged by others due
to its beliefs. The leader himself, Miao Chan, used to be a stuntman and established
the religion twenty years ago. Few years later, he claimed that he has attained full
Buddhahood just like Buddha did 2600 years ago. The practice consists of meditation
and buddhismlearning. On weekdays, followers attend small sessions of meditation
and learn about buddhism. On Sundays, followers go to a stadium and meditate
with Miao Chan for two hours. My mother joined the religious group one and a
half year ago and invited me to meditate with her. I was persuaded to join the group
and hated it at first. I always heard that meditation is a healthy exercise for people,
so when my mother started doing it I was really happy for her. Then it all changed
once I joined her. I realized that there was not just meditations, we were also asked
to pray to Master Miao Chan. Master Miao Chan was not like any monk I see in
other buddhist group, he is relatively young and has a wife that attends all the Sunday
meditation session with him. To me, bowing down to a man that claims himself
Topic About The Canadian Magazine Dispute
Topic about the Canadian magazine dispute
Introduction
Canadian magazine dispute is one of a great example that shows how a globalization
is a number one influenced in any local or domestic cultural diversity around the
world. As we observed from the reality about Canadian magazine dispute, trade, and
technology played an important role to completely give up your valuable cultures
without reasonable doubt. the Global system should never separate cultural value
from the trade system at all. to protect the value of one country is In critical under
globalization or global development. addition, we have seen many from American
values are consistently dominating all world and reflection of cultural imperialism.
1. To what extent do you think the U.S.Canadian magazine dispute was motivated by
genuine desires to protect Canadian culture? I think the motivation of protecting any
domestic cultural value of any country must be respected to protect their own
personal rights. In addition, the values of cultural development without implications
of any foreign country impose including Canadian cultural value. We have seen the
conflicted between Canadian magazines against the foreign trades for many years
that struggling to protect their own value because of dominant foreign development.
This is one of our generational systemic cultural impacts that overtaking and dominate

The History Of The Music Industry
The history of the music industry is inevitably also the story of the development of
technology. From the player piano to the vinyl disc, from reel to reel tape to the
cassette, from the CD to the digital download, these formats and devices changed
not only the way music was consumed, but the very way artists created it. (Edgar
Bronfman, jr). The music industry is an ever changing and ever growing business,
it adapts and changes with culture, economy and technology. For some it is a way
of expression and offers realise from mundane reality, for others it is a money
making machine there to be abused. But what is the future of the music industry?
What place does it have in a digital world, ever growing and advancing? How has file
sharingand piracy changed the music industry and what will it hold for the future
business model? Many enthusiasts say we should embrace the revolution of
digital and look to the future as an exciting adventure, with untold possibilities for
recording artists and musicians alike. That the birth of digital and technology such
as the compact disk offer new ways to create, record and distribute music in a way
that was not available in a not so distant past, accessed only by those in control of
major record labels and professional recording studios. But what is file sharing?
what were the significant changes that have shaped an industry into being dominated
by the digital download and illegal file sharing? The purpose of the study is to

Pathophysiology Of Diabetic Neuropathy And Diabetes
Pathophysiology of diabetic neuropathy
Diabetes is a chronic disease that affects blood glucose levels. Diabetes is the loss
of pancreatic metabolic activity that is responsible for the use of energy, which
comes from glucose that an individual consumes. There are two types of diabetes:
Type 1 Diabetes is the failure of pancreas to secrete a hormone called insulin;
responsible for the removal of glucose from the body to be used in the muscles for
energy. Type 2 Diabetes is the failure of using the insulin that is secreted form the
pancreas.
Individuals with controlled blood sugar levels due to normal functioning of the
endocrine system, avoid several complications. However, a high percentage of
individuals suffering from diabetes also consequently suffer from hyperglycemia.
Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to many serious cardiovascular diseases in the body
like retinopathy, nephropathy and mainly neuropathy (Kumar et al., 2007), but the
neuropathy severity is determined by the duration and intensity of uncontrolled
blood sugar levels (Tesfaye et al., 2005). About 50 60 % of diabetic patients suffer
from diabetic neuropathy, and it generates from having constant hyperglycemia
leading to nerve damage in the body, mainly the extremities starting from the legs
and feet (Kumar et al., 2007). Patients describe the symptoms as numbness , pins and
needles , burning, tingling and weakness of the muscles (Dejgaard, 1998). Severe
cases leads to amputation of the limbs (Kumar et
The KKK versus the Anti-Klan Movement Essay
The KKK versus the Anti Klan Movement
The Knights of the Ku Klux Klan is the oldest and largest gathering of White
Christian men and women. As the oldest White s Right group in the world, members
of the Ku Klux Klan face much criticism from the rest of society and are constantly
trying to break down the negative stereotypes and connotations that are associated
with the KKK. In fact, the Confederate flag is now in question as a device to
distinguish the organization as it has been deemed a symbol of bigotry and injustice
toward African Americans in the south. In this paper, we will first look at the KKK
as an organization and the principles upon which they were founded. Later, we will
look at the claims that the KKK is not a hate group ... Show more content on

Members of the Klan wanted to gain back control of the South as well as America
from federal conquest and maintain white power across America. Throughout its
history, the KKK has been disbanded and founded again several times. In 1956, the
Klan organization was formed again to revive the original Klan movement (Ku Klux
Klan). The Ku Klux Klan has had a continuing impact on American history. Today, the
Klan is still growing and continues as the longest running organization in America
that promotes White Rights and Christianity. Although its agenda and methods of
operation have changed over the years, its principles have remained unchanged and
much of the Klan is still run based on its founding father s efforts (Ku Klux Klan).
The Knights of the Ku Klux Klan have consistently advocated white supremacy,
Protestantism, and a narrow minded ideology of being 100% American. The Klan
has expanded its network and keeps current of new development. One such
development is the use of the world wide web. With the internet now common to
many homes and businesses, Klansmen have put pages upon pages of information on
the Ku Klux Klan on the web to reach those who are simply surfing the web or for
those in search of such an organization. Now, they are available to any one who has
access to the internet. Today, members of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan have
published documents with their mission and their beliefs. They maintain that they do

Better When We Came To America
Us, the English pilgrims, are a group that sets sail to take a journey because of our
religion. We had to leave England and go to America to practice our religion. In
England we had difficulties with religion. King Henry the 8th took away the Roman
Catholic Church and formed the Anglican Church. We are Separatists and are
mistreated for our beliefs. Therefore, we get very worried about our children s religion
.
However, anything was better than staying there. When we got to America, the
Virginia Company gave us grants. The pilgrims were able to get grants of land from
the Virginia Company (Discovering Our Past a History of the United States 65). We
could practice our religion freely without being mistreated. Now we can start our new
Edgar Degas Research Paper
Edgar Degas was largely associated with the Impressionism art movement during the
late 19th century. Even though Degas himself would probably never call himself an
Impressionistic painter, he was one of the group s founders, an organizer of its
exhibitions, and one of its most important core members (Schenkel). The
Impressionismmovement had its origins from earlier movements of naturalism and
plein air, or painting in open air, methods. Impressionism also drew from the
woodblock prints in Japonism. Impressionism at its core was about capturing fleeting
moments in time and focusing on realistic depictions of light. Edgar Degas s
contribution to the movement came in the form of paintings and sculptures. It is
interesting to note that even though he is considered one of the founders of the art
movement, he often considered himself separate from his contemporaries. His own
works reflect that as he often painted indoors rather than the characteristic plein air
methods of other artists within the movement. His most famous subjects were his
paintings depicting ballet set largely indoors with artificial light. So while these
characteristics would be considered contradictory to Impressionism, it was Degas

The way that Degas has arranged the painting, we can see into not only the stage
but further back into the backstage. While the dancer is tightly and vividly realized
in the painting, we can see glimpses of the backstage, but nothing concrete. We see
figures and legs in the shadows behind the curtain but nothing entirely clear. Again,
Degas captures a fleeting moment, emphasizing a motion of the dancer while
everything else is fuzzy to the viewer. Degas puts the viewer into an elevated seat of
the theater and allowing the viewer to have a glimpse of a moment in the show. The
focus is on L Etoile, or the

  • 2. Chrissy Teigen You can always count on Chrissy Teigen to share too much information with her fans on social media. And based on a recent post, John Legend s wife didn t disappoint. Chrissy, 31, is fond of sharing precious details about her family, husband, recipes, hair, wedding and even a cookbook that tickles her fancy. On Monday night, Teigen gave her followers on Twitter more than they bargained for. The topic? Period Skin. Women, by nature of the topic, can relate to Chrissy Teigen s shareable moment, but men, feel free to read along. Teigen posted a video of her in bed wrapped in nothing more than a towel. Fans thought the bare faced Sports Illustrated model was about to confess to having a flu bug or some other ailment. However, it was clear... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Mashable also acknowledges how Chrissy is an open book and doesn t shy away from getting real about her body when she sees fit. In the past, Teigen spoke proudly about her stretch marks and other flaws. As a model, Chrissy says she s more aware of a blemish here and a discoloration there. However, Teigen celebrates her body flaws and all and her fans love her for it. The responses have been overwhelmingly positive and grateful, the site added. http:/ /www.inquisitr.com/4389278/trump blocks chrissy teigen on twitter but teigen gets more than 100000 likes for the blocked screenshot/ In other Chrissy Teigen news, the Lip Sync Battle co host became the latest person to be allegedly blocked by President Donald Trump s Twitter account. Generally, she argues, the field of gender history agrees upon four tenets: the lack of a unified experience of early modern; temporalities and locations honed distinct gender roles; the call for each question posed for females to be answered for males rather than discussing the history of man outside of genderand as men ; and, quoting Joan Scott, gender is a primary way of signifying relationships of power . • 5. A Doll s House And The Glass Menagerie Symbolism is frequently used in dramatic works to represent abstract ideas and qualities, potentially in the form of people, objects, places, or actions. Henrik Ibsen s A Doll s House and Tennessee Williams The Glass Menagerie each include various symbols to represent the social messages that the authors are trying to convey to the audience. In A Doll s House, the central character, Nora Helmer, can be seen as a symbolherself. Her family and her husband treat her like a doll, and this oppression and condescension is the reason for her inner unhappiness and longing for independence. As well, Ibsen also focuses on the solo dance that Nora performs the Tarantella. This dance emphasizes Nora s feelings of separation and isolation from her... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The importance of the fire escape is pronounced right at the beginning of the play: The apartment faces an alley and is entered by a fire escape, a structure whose name is a touch of accidental poetic truth, for all of these huge buildings are always burning with slow and implacable fires of human desperation (Williams 1). The fire escape is used by all of the characters to ordinarily enter and exit the apartment, but it is also a means of escape. Laura Wingfield suffers from a bad leg that makes her incapable of leaving her home. Since it is too difficult for her to use the stairs of the fire escape to leave, she prefers the safety of the apartment. The one time Laura returns from the store and uses the fire escape she trips on the stairs, clearly demonstrating how vulnerable she is in the outside world, and how greatly she is bound to her private world within the apartment. Conversely, Tom Wingfield, Laura s brother, wants nothing more than to follow in his father s footsteps and leave his family behind. He frequently uses the fire escape to go out and smoke, which shows just how much he dislikes life inside of the apartment, and foreshadows his eventual getaway. Williams hints at escape throughout the entire play, highlighting it as one of the key themes. Tom is constantly comparing the loyalty he feels towards his mother and sister versus his true longing to leave home and be free of the confines of
  • 6. How Did So Many Slaves Come To America In America s history, slaves were widely used to assist with tasks, mostly on plantations. The first African slaves were brought to the Jamestown colony in 1619 to aid in growing tobacco, and pretty soon more and more people wanted slaves of their own. During the 1700s, six to seven million slaves came to America. But as long as slaverywas in the United States, slaves were dissatisfied with their lives and wanted to escape. In the 1780s, George Washington complained of a runaway slave who had been aided by a society of Quakers, formed for [helping slaves escape]. This was the beginning of the Underground Railroad, a network of people who helped slaves escape to freedom in the North or in Canada. It was also a safe haven for fugitive slaves who were headed to Canada. Freedom seekers came to the house by three different routes: through Madison, Indiana; Jeffersonville, Indiana; or Cincinnati, Ohio. These three routes converged in Newport, and that is where Levi Coffin s house is. The slaves stayed in Levi Coffin s house, and then could take three more routes to complete their journey and get to Canada for safety: to Greenville, Ohio, then to Sandusky and across Lake Erie to Ontario, Canada; to Fort Wayne, then Adrian, Michigan and then to Canada; and to Cabin Creek, Indiana, to Battle Creek, Michigan and across the Detroit River to Canada. Slaves were often switched from one route to another to confuse slave hunters. Along these routes and with the assistance of the Coffins, more than 2,000 fugitives were able to escape to Canada. Levi and Catharine were so skilled at helping the fugitives escape that slave hunters remarked, There must be an Underground Railroad from Newport to Canada and this house the Grand Central Station and Levi the
  • 7. The Camera Obscura By Tim Vermeer The film mainly talks about Tim Vermeer who is a PC design manufacturer and he concedes in the film that he is not a painter. Rather, Tim chose to study Vermeer s artistic creations precisely from color tones to practical looking figures and objects. He continuously trusted that regardless of the amount he attempted or whatever he does he will never have the capacity to draw near to what Vermeer had painted. The first intriguing perspective is Tim s test of finding the right color tone. Tim utilized the mirror which is an exceptionally basic apparatus to identify the color tone from any anticipated picture. He tried this analysis by setting a picture upside down, a mirror at 45 degree point reflecting the picture before him and a paper underneath ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I was surprised that artists in the seventeenth century utilized innovation to concoct incredible compositions. The Camera Obscura comprises of a container or a divider that is sufficiently enormous for the artist to remain in and penetrate a gap in the divider. So that the picture of what is outside of the case is specifically anticipated on the divider where the artist is. At that point they utilize a focal point that is set in the opening; this will help them to make the picture clearer and in addition controlling the measure of the picture through changing the flow or position of the focal point. At last, artist starts the following procedure of the picture that is anticipated from the focal point. This is the thing that Tim trusted, that it is conceivable that Vermeer painted specifically from a focal point since in the Music Lesson painting, there are extremely troublesome light ranges that Vermeer had painted and can t be seen by human eye unless on the off chance that you were looking through a camera. Despite the fact that some may call this bamboozling and not by any stretch of the imagination of an artist since he followed what was anticipated to him from the focal point yet I trust this was the best way to get reasonable and consummate looking
  • 8. What Does Milton Use Of Figurative Language John Milton was an author who was a strong believer in the use of faith and expressed that through his personal experiences in his sonnets. Not only did he try to argue the importance of freedom of religion but also the influence of important leaders on his views. Milton used figurative language and personification to show the negative impact that the disturbance of freedom of religionhad on people not only politically but also personally. Milton shows these characteristics in the following sonnets: On the New Forcers of Conscience under the Long Parliament, To the Lord General Cromwell, and How Soon Hath Time. Like Milton, Cromwell was a fervent advocate for liberty of conscience against the force of civil power (Lobo 781). Milton used figurative language to describe the sacrifices that Cromwell had done in order to be recognized as a leader. Praising Cromwell s martial victories, Milton also recognizes that Cromwell s reputation has suffered detractions rude from both satiric royalist accounts and Presbyterian attacks on his toleration (Lobo 785). General Cromwell s actions towards saving religion toleration are what brought Milton the use of personification to be able to describe his character. Milton asks for the help of Cromwell when he says Help us to save free conscience from the paw and uses the word conscience to refer to the battle within his mind to fight for the freedom of religion. Milton is praising Cromwell as a God figure that came and saved those from the dominance of the Presbyterian system. On verse 3 Guided by faith and matchless fortitude (Milton 1941) Milton used figurative language by stating that Cromwell was the figure that was guided by
  • 9. Ia Dang Civil War The first major battle of the Vietnam War was the battle of Ia Drang. This conflict took many casualties on both sides in just two days. There have been many books and articles that have been written about the battle. There was even a major Hollywood movie titled We Were Soldiers that dramatized the battle. Most of the public thinks of the conflict as a very bloody battle fought by the 1 7, 1st Cavalry Division, led by Lieutenant Colonial Harald G. Moore (Warren, 2015). While this is accurate, what is not known about the battle is the 1st Cavalry Division, utilized a technique called air mobile, now known as air assault, to employ multiple forces throughout the battlefield for the first time in combat. Although there was not much to the construction of the M101, it played a huge part in the Vietnam War. The howitzer was capable of firing rounds quickly and accurately to not only kill and suppress the enemy, but it also helped the infantry move closer to their objective. When new music videos, games, or movies and shows premier, makeup artists and lovers of makeup use that as inspiration. On social medias like twitter and instagram, people share their work. For example, about a year ago an app called Pokemon Go was popular. Furthermore, on twitter individuals shared their makeup looks based off of different pokemon. In addition, when new Disney movies are released, such as Frozen or Moana, people will not just create a makeup look, but articulate abstract art on their eyelids. However, freshman year of high school arrived, and I got an iphone. After installing apps such as instagram, twitter, and youtube, a whole new world of social media and what was popular and trending arose. While scanning through apps, I stumbled across amazing makeup artists on youtube. Youtube is an evergrowing community on the internet. In 2017, there are many brilliant makeup artists, such as Nikkie Tutorials, Manny Mua, Jaclyn Hill, Jeffree Star and more. Those are just a few of the artists I watch. The amazing thing about time and trends throughout the years, is that you can literally see how these trends in makeup are changing by looking at these videos from the beginning to end, like a timeline. Artists such as the ones I listed above are the sources of many of the trends that we see on social media today. I never took the time to notice just how many things that I do with makeup is because of these youtubers and social media. For example, I had no clue what highlighter was until about two years ago. If I did not see my favorite youtubers use this product, I most likely would never have bought it. This is the concept that I noticed with most beauty trends. Makeup looks such as winged eyeliner (which my father will never understand the sorcery behind), contouring, fake eyelashes, and

With the world becoming a single market, globalization has had a major contribution in enabling the organizations worldwide to step out of the restricted domestic markets and to set up their operations across the globe with confidence. This has largely led to a decline in the importance in national borders and a greater emphasis on what the consumers actually demand no matter the consumer is located in the very country in which the organization exists or an entirely different part of the world. Moreover, with the rapid increase in global competition, companies that strictly adhere to and cater to the needs of the local markets are finding themselves at a disadvantage and gradually losing the competitive advantage that they so much strived to achieve. However, for some products and services the tastes and preferences of consumers in different nations are beginning to converge on some global norm.
  • 12. The Word Assimilation The word assimilation has many different meanings. Its interpretations range from the digesting of nutrients to the transfer of similar sounds. However, when sifting through the various definitions of assimilation, there is one concept that always seems to stand out. No matter what the source is or how it s worded, there is almost always a reference to cultural groups. Whether it s the acceptance of a group or the alteration of it, the customs of contrasting cultures continuously come up. One such definition, according to the AudioEnglish.org dictionary, based on WordNet 2.1 and supported by Princeton University, states assimilation is the social process of absorbing one cultural group into harmony with another. Kristyn Hammond, a college composition professor in the Texas A M school system, describes in her eHow article Types of Assimilation, published on September 06, 2014, that as cultures mix and evolve, there is a transition of cultural traits, language acquisition and cultural identities from each group to the other. AudioEnlgish.org also relates terms such as Americanization and Westernization to assimilation, but unfortunately, these processes aren t always as harmonious as the definition suggests. Hammond states later in her article that, While assimilation can be a brutal and violent condition of forced integration, it can also be a peaceful combination of cultures. Unfortunately, in the American experience, there are more examples of oppressive enterprises

Globalized Violence: The Connection Between Western Capitalism and Mexican Femicide Globalization: a process of interaction between the social, economic and political systems of different nations, a process powered by international trade and investment. Some assert that globalization encourages the spread of more enlightened and egalitarian Western values and international tolerance, while others believe that this phenomenon harms more than it helps and fosters an uncontrolled and abusive economic environment. There is no shortage of opinions on the matter, though one sure point of fact is that globalization affects all aspects of modern life, including the murky world of gendered violence. Between the signing of NAFTA in 1992 and the middle of 2002, just shy of three hundred blue collar female factory workers were murdered in the border town of Juarez, Mexico. However, these numbers are simply the tip of the iceberg when compared to the four hundred and fifty additional disappearances during that decade, a grand total that is only increasing with each passing year. In short, these murders eventually sparked international intrigue and distress, forcing the world to take a closer look at some of the uglier consequences of globalization. Essentially, the femicides of Juarez are simply a symptom of a patriarchal society unconcerned with the lives of its workforce, a culture that values products more than the people who produce them: the overlapping timelines of the Juarez

The complex set of activities that culminate in vomiting come from two anatomically unique and distinct units within the brain stem; the vomiting center and Chemoreceptor Trigger Zone (CTZ) (Smith Collins, 2011, p.36). They receive information/signals from a number of outlying sources and their excitement triggers vomiting. The vomiting center receives afferent (nerve fibers carrying sensory information toward a location) signals from several major sources; Viseral afferents from the Gastrointestinal Tract (GI distention, irritation), Viseralafferents outside the GI tract (Bile ducts, heart, variety of other organs), afferents from outside the area of the vomiting center of the brain responsible for vestibular disturbances (motion), psychic stimuli (odors, fear) and trauma, along with the CTZ. Another example showing the difference between the two is the political reasoning as to why these works of art were made. The Vietnam Memorial was made of remembrance of a war the U.S fought in and lost meanwhile, The Column of Trajan serves to remind the people of the battles Trajan had one. In which case, one showed the loss and the other the wins. Another way to look at the Column of Trajan is to see it as an advertisement, or imperial propaganda. The reliefs in the column portray Trajan as an amazing emperor and an efficient army commander. This could have influenced the Romans at the time to like him and teach them what to expect from any other emperor after Trajan. This differs from the Vietnam Memorial due to the fact the memorial is simply a memorial, something to remember those who died, not to influence others to like a ruler or not. A 1997 General Accounting Office (GAO) report estimated that one half of the maintenance performed by United States airlines is actually outsourced to repair stations, creating an extremely competitive environment within the third party aviation maintenance industry (FAA, 2003.) Not only does outsourcing maintenance save money in the short term, it also saves money in the long term. Many third party organizations are providing long term service contracts with airlines so that they can feel secure and know that the cost for parts and labor will not fluctuate throughout the years. Electrophilic Aromatic Cation Lab Report The purpose of this experiment was to perform a nitration of a monosubstituted arene by electrophilic aromatic substitution and the second part of the experiment was to determine the relative reactivities of five different arenes using electrophilic aromatic bromination. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION In electrophilic aromatic substitution, an atom that is attached to an aromatic compound is replaced by an electrophile. The stability of aromatic rings makes the need for a very strong electrophile for the molecule to be formed. Nitro groups and halogens are good examples of the kind of electrophiles that should be used. The rate of the reaction and direction are affected by the electrophile. A carbocation intermediate is formed when the electrophile attacks one of the double bonds on the molecule and breaks it. The double bond can be reformed by a nucleophile that attacks it as a base. As stated, a very strong electrophilic ion is needed to change the stability of the aromatic ring. In the case of two electrophiles, the stronger one should be used to create the strong cation which can then break the double bond. According to Dr. Moalem, the reason is a complex combination that can involve inheritance, infections, diet, and environmental factors (Moalem, 25) so it is difficult to pin point one exact reason. Hence, because of the lack of information, researchers still haven t found a cure for

Manipulation And Manipulation In Medea THE USE OF MANIPULATION IN MEDEA After her husband Jason decides to marry the princess of their home, Medea comes up with a plan to get back at him, his bride, and her father. Throughout the book, Medea is shown as a malevolent villain who is very dangerous. Her plan is to send her children with a gift of a dress and a wreath for Jason s new bride which was covered with a deadly poison that would kill her and her father when they touch the gift. She then planned to kill her children and flee the land under the protection of Aegeus, the king of a neighboring land. Furthermore, there are challenges such as being exiled from the land. In Medeaby Euripides, Medea manipulates people to get what she wants by lying and telling the truth. The main person Medea manipulates is Jason, her unloyal husband. When Medea found out about his new wife, she was devastated and wept about it. After a while, she wanted to get revenge on Jason, his bride, and the king of Greece for letting this arrangement happen. In order to start his plan, she must manipulate Jason into thinking she is fine with the marriage. This allows Medea to gain some of Jason s trust, enough to go through with her master plan. Civilian and military relations are important because it determines who controls the armed forces and the extent to which the armed forces control the country. During the film, Dr. Strangelove, asked the question, Is the President in control of the U.S. nuclear weapons? Most military personnel are not okay with the fact that when something occurs like the Civil War that they cannot make a decision themselves, instead they have to wait for the President to come up with a plan and then they are to execute whatever the President decides. Generals Turgidson and Ripper do not seem to respect the President. During the film the President wanted to talk and figure out a plan before he decides if taking out 90 percent of the civilian population is something he wanted to happen while he is the president. Civilians often think twice about what to do when something bad happens but military personal are prompt with taking action when something happens. According to Szasz, the government should have a passive role in any market, including the market for drugs. Once the government gives up its active role, which is represented by the war on drugs , a free market for drugs which Szasz proposes can be attained. As we delve into Mr. Szasz s first argument, we begin to see major problems with the government s War on Drugs . According to Szasz, the prohibition of drugs is a blatant violation of human rights guaranteed to American citizens by the Constitution. In order to prove his point, he equates drugs to personal property. According to the Constitution, every American citizen shall have the inalienable right to life, liberty, and property, the first two elements resting squarely on the last. (Szasz, 1). Thus, Szasz contends that because both our bodies and drugs are types of property producing, trading in, and using drugs are property rights, and drug prohibitions constitute a deprivation of basic constitutional rights. Jerry Robinson made just about $12 dollars a month which was not enough to support a total of five children. • 44. War Is A Mere Continuation Of Policy War is a mere continuation of policy by other means ( Carl Von Clausewitz, On War, 1873) This claim made by Carl Von Clausewitz in 1873 reflects a traditionalist perspective of war as an act of state sovereignty for political attainment (Debrix, Barder, 2012 : 39). It has been argued that a definition of war, as an act of inter state power play, no longer reflects contemporary geopolitics (Reed, 2013: 130). Instead, the distinction between internal and external politics is no longer clearly defined: contemporary warfare involves a combination of state and non state actors, organized crime networks and a resurgence of identity politics (Kaldor, 2002: 1946 1948). The term New Wars which is used to juxtapose this transformation in contemporary warfare has been widely debated: some scholars suggest that an emphasis on the Cold War, and the impact of its eventual collapse, overshadowed small, low intensity conflicts (Balabanova, 2007 : 29). Others suggest that the claims of increased human rights abuses in contemporary warfare, and an increase in intrastate wars, is empirically false and that there has in fact been a decrease in war and civilian causalities since the collapse of the Cold War (Malesevic, 2010 : 60). This essay will analyse what is new about new wars. It will firstly present the new old dichotomy presented throughout the literature, which distinguishes four broad categories of transformation: the scope of warfare, the transition from ideological to

The leader himself, Miao Chan, used to be a stuntman and established the religion twenty years ago. Diabetes is the loss of pancreatic metabolic activity that is responsible for the use of energy, which comes from glucose that an individual consumes. There are two types of diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes is the failure of pancreas to secrete a hormone called insulin; responsible for the removal of glucose from the body to be used in the muscles for energy. Type 2 Diabetes is the failure of using the insulin that is secreted form the pancreas. Individuals with controlled blood sugar levels due to normal functioning of the endocrine system, avoid several complications. However, a high percentage of individuals suffering from diabetes also consequently suffer from hyperglycemia. Uncontrolled diabetes can lead to many serious cardiovascular diseases in the body like retinopathy, nephropathy and mainly neuropathy (Kumar et al., 2007), but the neuropathy severity is determined by the duration and intensity of uncontrolled blood sugar levels (Tesfaye et al., 2005). About 50 60 % of diabetic patients suffer from diabetic neuropathy, and it generates from having constant hyperglycemia leading to nerve damage in the body, mainly the extremities starting from the legs and feet (Kumar et al., 2007). Even though Degas himself would probably never call himself an Impressionistic painter, he was one of the group s founders, an organizer of its exhibitions, and one of its most important core members (Schenkel). The Impressionismmovement had its origins from earlier movements of naturalism and plein air, or painting in open air, methods. Impressionism also drew from the woodblock prints in Japonism. Impressionism at its core was about capturing fleeting moments in time and focusing on realistic depictions of light. Edgar Degas s contribution to the movement came in the form of paintings and sculptures. It is interesting to note that even though he is considered one of the founders of the art movement, he often considered himself separate from his contemporaries.
