Bertha Pappenheim
Bertha Pappenheim is perhaps most famous for Josef Breuer s study of (and
writing about) her, but his treatment lasted only a couple of years she herself spent
nearly thirteen years, between 1882 and 1895, actively attempting to reconstruct
herself. The aim of this reconstruction was to grow not only from her illness but
also from her previous life as a bourgeois homemaker, from the healthy aspects of
her grief for her father, and (perhaps most notably) from her immense emotional
reliance on Breuer himself. In fact, far more effectively than when working with
Breuer, Pappenheim s own agency and motivation helped her to move successfully
from her previous private fantasies into a new context of major political and social
change. It is possible to examine Pappenheim s later life in terms of her illness and
subsequent treatment and indeed, her experience with illness and her relationship...

Although his diagnoses are somewhat suspect, Breuer gave her validation, worldly
experience, and ultimately the place from which she began her self reconstruction.
She did most of the reconstruction on her own choosing to end her relationship with
Breuer, withdrawing from the narcotics to which she became addicted, writing and
publishing her work, moving away from Vienna to Frankfurt, and eventually taking
a job. However, though Breuer s treatment itself may not have had as large an
influence on her later life as might be expected, the timing of her illness impacted
quite a lot. The major peculiarities that Pappenheim experienced were to do with her
living situation she was precluded from marrying, for example, and lived with her
mother. Additionally, her tendency to tell stories to Breuer may have a connection to
her later successes as a

change to occur, nutrition messages should be communicated in a scientifically

Web sites related to the terms nutrition advice. Americans report that they do indeed
use the media as a source of information about nutrition, and that television (72%) and
magazines (58%) are relied upon more often for nutritional guidance than are family
and friends (17%). (The American Dietetic Association, http://www.eatright.org) At
the same time, many adults also feel that the media contain information that is often
confusing and contradictory. In one recent study, adults who reported more confusion
and skepticism about nutrition messages in the media also were more likely to eat a
fat laden diet.( Patterson RE, Satia JA, Kristal AR, Neuhouser ML, Drewnowski A,

may be contributing to a nutrition backlash among certain subgroups of people. 2.

Medea Dilemma Analysis
Euripides, an influential dramatist in Greek culture is celebrated for his famous
tragedies which examine the shadier side of human nature. Many of Euripides s
plays present the audience with a dilemma. As one reviews the passages and
unfolding story, the message causes the reader to dig deep and evaluate personal
morals because the play is intended to be a tragic moral dilemma. In the play Medea,
Euripidesgives his audience many different situations to consider. One specific
dilemma causes the reader to question Medea s state of mind. Situations arise
whereupon the reader contemplates whether Medea acted out of reckless rage or
with rational, well thought out plans. At the onset of the play, the reader is
introduced to the first character, the nurse. A concerned monologue ensues and the
nurse bewails the dire situation of her mistress, Medea. In this monologue, one
hears, through the tormented ravings of the nurse, how furious and upset Medea
has been acting. The nurse is even fearful for the safety of Medea s children
because of Medea s actions. This point of view aids the reader in examining how
others in Medea s life view her thus giving the audience an initial view of Medea
through another character s lens. Soon after the nurse s grief stricken rantings,
Medea is introduced: Aiai. / I have suffered in my wretchedness, suffered woes which
call for great laments. O accursed children of a hateful mother, may you die with your
father, may the whole house fall in ruin (Euripides 4). From these first few lines, one
could pose the unthinkable question, Who could hurt their own children ? Most
likely, the average man and woman care for and are anxious for the safety of their
children. If Medea is considering harming her children, the reader could question the
clarity of her conscience. The natural man s instinct could trigger at this point and a
question could be established. How could a mother speak these dark words about
her own offspring? One could begin to rationalize the situation and establish a
summary of Medea s emotional outburst. Hopefully, a motherly instinct will
overpower the rantings of flaunted anger and Medea will remember the love for her
children. Medea herself says in this line

DIRECT SEEDING

Direct seeding is a method in which the seeds are shown directly into the soil by
using special machines . The seeds are covered with soil as they are being sown .
This method does not involve the transplanting of seedlings and therefore results
in less damage to the roots of the seedlings . The plants achieve faster growth and this
increases crop yield . Less water is also needed to irrigate the fields . This method is
widely used in the planting of paddy to obtain higher yields of rice .

Teen Activist Research Paper
Have you ever heard of a teen activist? If you haven t, you will today. A teen
activist is a kid or a teenager who wants to change the world. They fight for what
they are passionate about. They go through tough obstacles along the way but don t
give up what they love. They do this because they want to change the world. Some
teen activists are Malala Yousafzai, Alex Libby, and Alex Lin. All teen activists
change the world. For example, Malala changes the world of education. According
to the interview with jon stewart and ellen, her school shut down that s when she
started. She started fighting for education around the world. The taliban didn t like
Malala. She was attacked and shot in the face and was rushed to hospital in
England. The Pakistani hospital could take good enough care of her. When she was
shot she refused to die and survived. The taliban didn t stop her from fighting for
children s education. As a results, that s how one teen activist changed the world....

The Plea Bargain System And Fairness, Morality, And
Process
The entire plea bargain system has glaring issues of fairness, morality, and process.
It needs an overhaul. Plea bargains are a way to get rid of some cases due to the
sheer number of cases in the judicial system. There are not enough resources for most
cases to reach trial. Innocent defendants are often pressured and coerced into
accepting plea bargains. Prosecutors create uncertainty among defendants by
aggressively handling each individual each often making threats that they can not
actually back up. While this is fairly effective, it is not fair to the defendants.
Additionally, it more time is spent on strategy and games then on discovering the
truth. However, no case should receive biased treatment. Prosecutors sometimes
blatantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The advantages, gamesmanship, and leverage that account for a plea bargain
override an honest and fair assessment of truth (Strutin, 2013). This statement is
painfully accurate. Yale Law Journal (1972) states that the elimination of the
maximum number of trials is the purpose of the plea bargain. Plea bargains are a
largely a result of a need for speed and efficiency in the courts. However, efficiency
comes at a significant cost: innocent defendants are induced to plead guilty
(Gilchrist, 2011). In many, cases plea bargains are too efficient. These wrongful
convictions not only harm the innocent persons who plead guilty; they undermine
the reliability of all convictions (Gilchrist, 2011). This brings controversy over all
plea bargains .Speed and efficiency should never be placed over reaching the
correct verdict. All that is needed for a plea bargain is admission from the
defendant; however, a defendant cannot convict themselves with a testimony in trial.
This practice illustrates the controversy of plea bargains as compared to more
reliable trials. Plea bargains allow for defendants to be coerced into giving false
admissions of guilt. Additionally, defendants are confused by their emotions during
the plea bargain process. When faced with the difficult decision of a plea bargain,
innocent defendants are often hurt by their emotions, which should not be the case.
Gilchrist (2011) writes, Plea bargaining generates

Community s Non Profit Mental Health Organizations
At some point in our lives, we all questions our childhood beliefs. When I was
young, I saw mental conditions as an excuse people used to justify their poor
behaviour. In other words, I did not take them seriously because of how I was
raised. Since then, much has changed. I now realize that mental illness is an issue
that has to be dealt with in order to help our society grow as a whole. To do so, we
all need to support our community s non profit mental healthorganizations. Providing
support through improved access to qualified non governmental organizations is an
important action in dealing with the problems associated with mental illnesses that
adversely affect our community.
In today s society, people across the world are coming to a better understanding of
the problem of mental illness, and the need to provide help for those suffering with
mental health related issues in our communities. Sadly, this acceptance is still very
low worldwide. In Ontario, approximately 70% of mental health challenges have their
onset in childhood or youth. In other words 1 in 5 children and youth have a mental
health challenge (Ontario Ministry of Children and Youth Services, 2016).
When teenagers suffer from a behavioural, emotional or mental condition, their
esteem and love levels from the Maslow Hierarchy of Needs are affected. When
these levels are affected, self esteem, sense of feeling loved, and confidence are the
needs that are directly affected (The Alberta Teachers
A Comparison Of Johann Sebastian Bach And George
Frideric...
Although numerous composers have shown their musicality from different
musical periods, only some of the remarkably talented ones are still remembered
and honored. Such composers compositions are performed all around the world
even today. From the Baroque period, Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric
Handel are the two most renowned composers. Even though both of their
compositions are considered to be well written, they have shown completely
different musical styles. Bach composed pieces that are extremely complicated
and intense, whereas Handel emphasized simplicity and clearness in his work.
Since their approaches in composing music completely differ, it is improper to
deduce who is better as they both are successful in their own unique ways.
However, audiences in the Baroque period had a strong opinion as to who is more
successful. Many musical experts from the Baroque period tend to indicate that
Bach should have adopted Handel s musical styles in order for him to be even more
acknowledged as a composer. According to the John Hawkins s A General History of
the Science and Practice of Music, Johann Sebastian Bachwas born into a musical
family. He was the son of a formal musician, John Ambrose Bach and the younger
brother of an organist, John Christopher Bach. From a young age, Johann Sebastian
Bach has learned to play Harpsichord and Organ. With these instruments, he started to
pursue his career in music as an organist and a chamber musician at many churches.
The Business World Is More Challenging
To say the truth the business world is more challenging. To assess the purpose the
business it should be noted that we can say that the profit must come in the first
array and in some special cases the benefit to the society also has come as a major
why the business is doing in the current world. If we wish to make analysis the
environment of the business then the industry in which the business is operating
must be given preference as well as the risk the business is having in the current time
being.
1Task 2
1.1How the different economic system affects the effective allocation of the resources
Command economy: At first we will discuss regarding the command economy.
Actually command economy refers to any such type of economic system where the
government holds the authority of the major decisions such as how much to be
produced, the price quotation for the produced goods and the quality of the produced
goods in some extent also. So it is necessary to discuss how it will affect the Trio and
other business organization. To say we can illustrate that here the company will not
have the option to produce as its best wish rather than the government has (Piveronus,
2006). On the other hand the company has not the right to fix the price quotation
rather it may be lower due to the government intervention on the company. The
company cannot have the optimum quality production as the price charge may not
come up with the said price. Market competition may be high. There is a little

Using AA vs. Abusing AA
This paper will try to explain the different views of how and why Alcoholics
Anonymous and other 12 step programs are accepted and rejected as effective tools
in treating alcoholism and other addictions. The articles reviewed contradict the
others opinion. First, we see that supporting the 12 step programs with a degree of
involvement both the doctor and patient will see better results in treating the
addiction. The second view will show that 12 step programs can be used as self help
treatment and must be used in conjunction with other forms of rehabilitation. When
AA and other 12 step programs are not used with other forms of treatment, the patient
tends to become codependent on the group.

Jarlais simply notes, ...these ideas are not supported by the usual framework of

Dr. Jarlais statement would surely raise eyebrows at the next research convention
but is that what we can base the tremendous acceptance and success rate of AA on?
In my personal experience, I can agree with the supporters of the 12 step method.
The reasons are many but one comes to mind each time I read the opposing views
Are we complex human beings or lab rats? Is it necessary as recovering addicts and
psychodynamic therapists alike to use a scientific approach to confirm the
resounding results? AA works and if personal response or storytelling along with the
admitting that we are powerless over our addictions helps, well, that is enough proof
for me. Terry M. states, Our primary goal is to stay sober and help other alcoholics
to achieve sobriety. (Terry M. 1998) This statement is enough proof that I believe the
people who attend AA are more useful than any scientific influences. A Dr. and a
patient formed AA; this alone also shows the importance to respect what has been a
foundation to recovery the honesty and no judgement policy of recovery.
Issues of brainwashing, codependency, and let us not forget the overwhelming
popular issue of never recovering . Dr. Jarlais explains that the mere acceptance of
this policy is proof that the supporters are contradictory about the influence of the

Galloway presents her writing in such a way that it has a great deal of inspirational
impact on the reader. In order for a text to be inspiring, it must be written in such a
way that the reader can connect with it emotionally. In Showing Off , Galloway

Galloway deserved having overcome them. Galloway s courage and determination

dehumanizing way that Valdez introduces all of the characters in the play solidifies
the pressure they feel to assimilate and why many resist assimilation. In the play Los
Vendidos by Luis Valdez, the author fulfills his own unique definition of actos in the
play by showcasing some of the stereotypes and prejudices held against Mexican
Americans to illustrate the real social standards that are placed upon them. The play

This is a great example of assimilation versus the non assimilated stereotypes. She
has abandoned her culture and fully taken on American culture instead. This is an
example of Valdez s definition of actos because Chicanos should not have to be

hardship that she represents for many Chicano Americans is important because many

The Trusty Model Of Dependent Personality Disorder
Abstract
Many theorists for decades have presented theoretical approaches in an effort to
comprehend personality. Hence, to this date, no theorist has been able to find all the
answers in their theory to understand an individual personality. The purpose of this
paper is to present the Trusty model of dependent personality disorder. Major topics
relevant to the disorder will be explored including the human image (determination
vs. free will, nature vs. nurture and the past vs. the present) as well as the
dysfunctional personality style. As you read this paper, I hope you will be more
enlightened from the information presented and also gain a better understanding of
dependent personality disorder. Keywords: dependent, theory, personality, Trusty,

Personality Theory: The Trusty Model
To be honest people need each other. We exist as social creatures. However, it is
almost a tough situation to co exist with individual who suffer from dependent
personality disorder as a result of their clingy behavior. The Trusty model for
dependent personality disorder is described below.
Components of the Trusty Model of Dependent Personality Disorder
Image of Human Nature
Nature versus nurture. The origin of personality is character biological nature with a
heredity support. Individuals with dependent personality generally display orientation
towards being vigilant and at the same time apprehensive as far back as their
childhood age (Bornstein, 1992). However, growing up
The American Dream By James Truslow
The American dream is a term often used as motivation for people who are seeking
a better life outside of their torrid country. According to James Truslow, who coined
the term American Dream, the definition is, a dream of a social order in which
each man and woman shall be able to attain to their fullest stature of which they are
innately capable. (68) The American Dream is sought out by many, but they are
often denied the privilege of prevailing in a predominantly successful society run
by the top 1% who care more about a person s last name and economic status. For
many, the American Dream is trading in the impoverished life they once lived in a
second or third world country for financially stable and secure life to provide their
family with a steady foundation for when they reach adulthood. Throughout history,
influential figures have preached about the importance of the American Dream for
the people of America, but in reality the American Dream is merely fiction. For
hundreds of years, minorities who arrive in America looking for a better life are
waking up to the truth the American Dream does not exist. While there are plenty of
people who find success within America, more times than not they are already
privileged white elites. The American Dream is just a dream for most because
America in recent years has imposed a lot of obstacles: hardships relating to an
inflated economy, no jobs, and a uniform system with no change is damaging the
possibility of the American
Essay on Paideia and Modern Educational Policy
Paideia and Modern Educational Policy
ABSTRACT: The lofty ideals of the classical notion of paideia, and the restatement
of those principles in 1982 by Mortimer Adler and the paideia group remain an
unfulfilled promise in terms of the actualities of public education in the United States.
The notion of an educational system for all students built upon a rigorous curriculum
manifesting a framework of values to be acted out in the public and democratic forum
continues to have great attraction for educators. Indeed, the notion of paideia
continues to carry a sense of urgency as it should. However, the actual task of creating
systems devoted to these ideals has run headlong into a political labyrinth generated
by the conflict between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The passion for testing (oftentimes observed as soundbites serving political ends )
runs counter to a farmboy s common knowledge that you don t put weight on a hog
by weighing it. This paper will attempt a dialectic exploring the models generating
this tension and suggesting an alternative view of a modern paideia.
That original tension is illustrated in the Greek paideia, which not only
contemplated the process of development of the human subject toward the good,
but also venerated the influence of the object of learning; i.e., first the poetry of
Homer, then the literature of Greece, then the total fine arts of the Greek culture. If
we regard education as a process of shaping or forming, the object of learning plays
the part of the mold by which the subject is shaped. The formative mold of early
Greek paideia was Homer, and as time went on that role was expanded to Greek
poetry at large. In the end, the word paideia meant Greek literature as a whole.
(Jaeger 1961:91).
Early Christians, hellenized and conversant in the use and didactic angularities of the
Greek marketplace of education and dialogue, adopted the definition and
implementation of paideia. As with Plato, Gregory of Nyssa, a pivotal figure in the
early church, adopted as given that all human will and effort by nature was directed
to achieve the
Locavores Research Paper
Locavores: Beneficial or harmful? Locavores are a group of people who prefer to
consume locally grown products and they get these products usually within a 100
mile radius from home. The main idea of this local movement is to avoid
consuming products that are moved a long distance from the farm to the market.
This a great movement for us the consumers because we know what we re eating
and how it was produced, in other words it has many beneficial health factors.
Subsequently, there is always two sides to every coin. The bad side of conventional
farming methods used by corporate farmers that result in the shipping of foods long

Protagonist If one looks hard enough in a post apocalyptic town they will find
someone like Tessa. In fact everyone is like Tessa, just a normal warring country
citizen. The way Tessa is described you would see some torn clothes and long hair.
Like most people in a century long war, they want peace and harmony.
Antagonist In my story there are absolutely no antagonists. In the history of my book
there is a war that split the world into two sides. They both believed they were doing
the right thing. There were computers that tricked the humans into not fighting, for
most of the war. So the story as stupid as it is, is just a misunderstanding.

The main character learns that everything she has been told is not true. Those who
did not adapt in the story went crazy. These people in the story were forced to live
terrible lives for nothing. These people that started thriving, did not dwell on the past.
Figurative language and humor The Author used figurative language for people to
get how major or little the sentence is, like when it said whispers of excitement float
through the crowd. Another instance was when the book states he could have been
an angel or a saint.... which means he is a good person. The last example, is when it
stated the crowd s whispers rippled. These were used to show importance of these
moments.
Social issues Characters are treated very differently because if you are not a high
ranking military official you are poor. The war has gone on for a century and things
are not getting any better. They are devoted to winning the war because neither side
looks as if they are going to let up. They are trying to keep their freedoms. What they

The Philadelphia Convention
In May of 1787, fifty five delegates from all states except for Rhode Island held a

Government. The nationalist composed of an elite group of well educated men.
Unfortunately, the most influential members such as John Adams, Thomas Jefferson,
Sam Adams, and Patrick Henry would not be attending (Henretta, 2012, pg. 185). The

Sierra Leone Civil War Analysis
The civil wars in these African countries creating an outcry from civilians after
experiencing injustices and corruption throughout decades. Whilst leading to
civilians fleeing Sudan and Sierra Leone to start new lives. The histories behind
both wars are quite similar as both were solely motivated by natural resources and
power imbalance. As The Revolutionary United Front had established in 1991 as

The war came to an end in 2002 concluding in a loss for the SLAS. Therefore we
look to compare to a similar issue in the history of The Sudan People s Liberation

governing Southern Sudan by fighting against the central Sudanese government.
While originating from Southern Sudan, it identified itself as a movement for all

Effects of Violent Media on the Youth Essay

the Xbox One, which is perhaps the hottest gift this season. Everybody wants it. But
most of the Xbox games like Call of Duty, Assassin s Creed, and Halo are extremely
violent, depicting war, blood, and gore very nonchalantly. The television channel FX

But, the games used in their sessions were Mario Brothers games, and while these

parents believe that their children view violent media content at least once a week
(Cheng, et al., 2004). But what exactly constitutes violence? Stipp and J. Ronald
Milavsky s (1988) piece entitled U.S. Television Programming s Effects on
Aggressive Behavior of Children and Adolescents brings to light that pollsters
always point out that there is too much violence on television but researchers have
found that it is extremely difficult to measure and define how much violence is too
much violence in television. Television media includes everything from children s
comedy on the Disney Channel and Nickelodeon, to bloody gore movies and
shows on FX, HBO, TNT, and others. That is a very wide spectrum to narrow in
terms of what children may see on a daily basis. Stipp and Milavsky s research
explains that surveys used to determine aggressiveness and media in children have
questionable validity of the key measures. They go on to explain

Essay on Benefits of a Tax on High Fat Foods
Descartes In this essay, I will explain Descartes central method of doubt to investigate
the truth of things, in which he wanted to be critical and generated four rules that he
would use as guidance. With his method, he suspends judgment and prejudices to
obtain better results. Descartes argues that despite syllogisms has truth in logic, it still
has something defective, which is predominantly the multiplicity of rules. These rules
might bring immorality and confusion, thus prevent him for arriving at the
knowledge of things because it might bring more doubt than truth.
At the beginning of the creation of his method, Descartes looks for a method of
reason that would be free of the defects of logic, however, he still sought his method

Following this model, he develops his method based on his reason alone without the
interference from others or his prejudices that could affect his reasoning. He claims
that the interference of more than one person, in the creation of something causes a
less perfect and less organized thing compare to things done by only one person. For
instance, he exemplifies this with his education; he considers his education has a
deficiency because all the sciences taught to him were from different men from
different eras.
Moreover, in order for Descartes method to discover a great way for seeking the
truth of things, he based his method on the geometrical style, which entails clarity
and certainty of things. In geometry, Descartes finds the notion of clear and distinct
ideas, which are considered clear and distinct because they are simple and
unquestionable truths, and also they could be easy understood. In addition to it, he
finds this method to be promising because he comprehends geometrical figures to be
absolutely evident, not probabilistic. The fact that Descartes was looking for a
method that will help him to find the truth of things encourages him to look for a
method with the properties of logic, mathematics and geometry, but obviously
excluding their defects. He just set out four rules rather than a large number of rules:
1) to never accept anything as true unless it is so clear and distinctly, meaning there
is no minimum doubt; 2) to reduce every single complex
Thomas Aquinas Proof For God
Thomas Aquinas and Proof for God

Dominican Order and one of the most influential medieval thinkers. He was hugely
affected by scholasticism and Aristotle and recognized for his synthesis of the two
aforementioned traditions. Although he wrote countless works of philosophy and
theology across his existence, his most prominent work is the Summa Theologica.
Saint Thomas Aquinas was born in 1225 in Roccasecca in Italy. His father was
Count Landulf of an old highborn south Italian family, and his mother was Countess

Tactics Of Uavs
The ongoing conflict in the Ukraine is both unsettling and advantageous for the
United States and its NATO allies. For the first time in nearly a generation Western
Allies are able to see the capabilities of the Russian military, much like they ve been
watching us in Iraq and Afghanistan. Considering this is the first near peer conflict
in the 21st century, and the largest scale battles in Europe since the end of the
Second World War , Western policy makers are able to glean some information on
what new tactics the Russians are implementing. The most notable emergent tactics
are the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance, new
developments in reactive armor, massed artillery fire, and the use of siege type
warfare.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the average infantry platoon, who may not have access to these
countermeasures, the most obvious solution is better camouflage and more rapid
movement. The use of hand held anti tank rockets was meant to balance the
playing field between infantry and armor. However the Russian military has found
a way to counter this and the main battle tank still remains decisive in modern
battle. Modern Russian T 72B3 s use a reactive armor which deflects and disperses
explosive rockets. The T 90 main battle tanks uses the same reactive armor, but also
possesses an integrated active armor system, which uses a radar that detects
incoming missiles and fires a shotgun like spray that disables the targeting system.
While this is not a new tactic, but rather new technology, it will impact the
effectiveness of American anti tank munitions. The Javelin anti tank missile has yet
to be tested against this armor and can potentially fail. Since the average infantry
platoon relies on the Javelin as its countermeasure to armor they will need to work
closer with allied armor or close air support in order to survive encounters with
modern battle tanks. As mentioned earlier the use of massed artillery is nothing new,
but by combining long range artillery fire with UAV surveillance artillery has
produced up to eighty percent of casualties

Gas vs Diesel
Conventional wisdom was that diesel was the only way to deliver significant fuel
economy improvements in trucks. However, the growing emergence of direct
injected and turbocharged gasoline engines have made the fuel economy difference
between gas and diesel engines much smaller than before. Seredynski said that
regardless of fuel, the end goal is the same: maximum power from the minimum
amount of fuel. The Ram 1500 Eco Diesel is the current full size pickup mileage
champ at 20/28 mpg in EPA testing, but Ford s new 2.7L Eco Boost V 6 gas engine
is likely not be far behind. Another enabling technology that has increased economy
on both gas and diesel engines are transmissions with much higher gear counts, with
six speeds now considered the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Diesel fuel prices also vary wildly depending on the season, region, and even
individual fuel retailer, sometimes going for less than regular gasoline and sometimes
going for more than premium.
When it comes to the environmental impact that gas and diesel engines have. It
turns out that gasoline is more unstable than diesel, not because of what its base
consists of, but because of the additives it contains. In addition, vehicles that use
diesel tend to be more fuel efficient and produce less greenhouse gases. Diesel is
more environmentally friendly. The United States has what is considered to be the
dirtiest diesel, but as of June 1, 2010 this is going to be different. U.S. diesel fuel
has a lower measure of ignition quality. This means that when it is cold outside,
ignition performance is poor and can result in higher emissions. This is why you see
truck drivers idling their trucks all night long in cold weather rather than risk a
troublesome start in the mornings. But, the sulfur in the diesel that is emitted during
cold ignitions and long engine idling is still harmful to the environment because the
sulfurs prevent the control of diesel particulate emissions through diesel particulate
filters. This is changing, though, since new advanced technologies such as nitrogen
oxide absorbers are being developed to reduce these emissions. As for gasoline, it is
the non aliphatic hydrocarbons as well as carcinogenic additives
How Investment Is Important For Job Creation And Growth
Of...
Investment is key to job creation and growth. When Germany and Pakistan signed a
bilateral investment treaty in 1959, it showed the world how modern trade and
investment agreements among countries can be concluded to protect foreign
investment ( arbitration game | The Economist, n.d.). Since then, there have been
over 3000 trade and investment agreement between 180 countries. Many of these
agreements contain a mechanism called Investor State Dispute Settlement (ISDS),
which allows a foreign investor to invoke arbitration against the host governmentfor
the breach of certain investor protections (Sapiro, 2015).
Governments put ISDS in place for at least three reasons:
1To resolve investment conflicts without creating state to state ... Show more content

They are also not bound by a legal precedent system and enjoy wide discretion. The
tribunalists are not salaried but paid by the parties (foreign investors or host
government), which results in incentivizing a pro investor bias among tribunalists.
According to the Fair and Equitable Treatment (FET), foreign investors alone enjoy
broadly interpreted substantive rights which are also vague. Not only this poses a
threat to the environmental, health and financial protections but also give privileges
to foreign investors over domestic firms. Domestic firms can launch ISDS cases using
their foreign subsidiaries against their home government. Treaty shopping is another
concern as foreign investors can reshuffle their corporate structure or establish new
subsidiary to access ISDS ( Do the Commission s reform proposals for ISDS really
solve the problem? Stop TTIP Stop TTIP, n.d.).
Although, there is a lot of discussion around reforming the ISDS clause, there are
sound reasons why most states still embrace the ISDS provisions in their trade and
investment agreements. The domestic quality of legal protections varies widely
among states with some of the legal systems not functioning within the acceptable
standard of fairness despite treaty obligations. We do see that the largest number of
ISDS disputes have
Identity Politics In American Politics
Society never has and never will be perfect. It seems like politics is full of people
trying to make society perfect . More specifically in American politics. If politics
keeps dividing people like it is right now, our society will have a high probability of
being destroyed. In fact, politics currently might be the most polarized it has ever
been. The downfall to our society will be identity politics, lack of conversation, and
lack of knowledge. These three things have the power to cripple our society. People
on different ends of the political spectrum have differing opinions on the impact that
identity politics has on our society. Those on the left (Liberal) tend to be more
progressive and use identity politics to prejudge people on their

themselves from addiction by quitting cold turkey are attempting a noble feat, but one
that is often physically and emotionally dangerous. The withdrawal symptoms that

Bertha Pappenheim Bertha Pappenheim is perhaps most famous for Josef Breuer s study of (and writing about) her, but his treatment lasted only a couple of years she herself spent nearly thirteen years, between 1882 and 1895, actively attempting to reconstruct herself. The aim of this reconstruction was to grow not only from her illness but also from her previous life as a bourgeois homemaker, from the healthy aspects of her grief for her father, and (perhaps most notably) from her immense emotional reliance on Breuer himself. In fact, far more effectively than when working with Breuer, Pappenheim s own agency and motivation helped her to move successfully from her previous private fantasies into a new context of major political and social change. It is possible to examine Pappenheim s later life in terms of her illness and subsequent treatment and indeed, her experience with illness and her relationship... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Although his diagnoses are somewhat suspect, Breuer gave her validation, worldly experience, and ultimately the place from which she began her self reconstruction. She did most of the reconstruction on her own choosing to end her relationship with Breuer, withdrawing from the narcotics to which she became addicted, writing and publishing her work, moving away from Vienna to Frankfurt, and eventually taking a job. However, though Breuer s treatment itself may not have had as large an influence on her later life as might be expected, the timing of her illness impacted quite a lot. The major peculiarities that Pappenheim experienced were to do with her living situation she was precluded from marrying, for example, and lived with her mother. Additionally, her tendency to tell stories to Breuer may have a connection to her later successes as a

  • 5. Medea Dilemma Analysis Euripides, an influential dramatist in Greek culture is celebrated for his famous tragedies which examine the shadier side of human nature. Many of Euripides s plays present the audience with a dilemma. As one reviews the passages and unfolding story, the message causes the reader to dig deep and evaluate personal morals because the play is intended to be a tragic moral dilemma. In the play Medea, Euripidesgives his audience many different situations to consider. One specific dilemma causes the reader to question Medea s state of mind. Situations arise whereupon the reader contemplates whether Medea acted out of reckless rage or with rational, well thought out plans. At the onset of the play, the reader is introduced to the first character, the nurse. A concerned monologue ensues and the nurse bewails the dire situation of her mistress, Medea. In this monologue, one hears, through the tormented ravings of the nurse, how furious and upset Medea has been acting. The nurse is even fearful for the safety of Medea s children because of Medea s actions. This point of view aids the reader in examining how others in Medea s life view her thus giving the audience an initial view of Medea through another character s lens. Soon after the nurse s grief stricken rantings, Medea is introduced: Aiai. / I have suffered in my wretchedness, suffered woes which call for great laments. O accursed children of a hateful mother, may you die with your father, may the whole house fall in ruin (Euripides 4). From these first few lines, one could pose the unthinkable question, Who could hurt their own children ? Most likely, the average man and woman care for and are anxious for the safety of their children. If Medea is considering harming her children, the reader could question the clarity of her conscience. The natural man s instinct could trigger at this point and a question could be established. How could a mother speak these dark words about her own offspring? One could begin to rationalize the situation and establish a summary of Medea s emotional outburst. Hopefully, a motherly instinct will overpower the rantings of flaunted anger and Medea will remember the love for her children. Medea herself says in this line

  • 9. The Plea Bargain System And Fairness, Morality, And Process The entire plea bargain system has glaring issues of fairness, morality, and process. It needs an overhaul. Plea bargains are a way to get rid of some cases due to the sheer number of cases in the judicial system. There are not enough resources for most cases to reach trial. Innocent defendants are often pressured and coerced into accepting plea bargains. Prosecutors create uncertainty among defendants by aggressively handling each individual each often making threats that they can not actually back up. While this is fairly effective, it is not fair to the defendants. Additionally, it more time is spent on strategy and games then on discovering the truth. However, no case should receive biased treatment. Prosecutors sometimes blatantly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The advantages, gamesmanship, and leverage that account for a plea bargain override an honest and fair assessment of truth (Strutin, 2013). This statement is painfully accurate. Yale Law Journal (1972) states that the elimination of the maximum number of trials is the purpose of the plea bargain. Plea bargains are a largely a result of a need for speed and efficiency in the courts. However, efficiency comes at a significant cost: innocent defendants are induced to plead guilty (Gilchrist, 2011). In many, cases plea bargains are too efficient. These wrongful convictions not only harm the innocent persons who plead guilty; they undermine the reliability of all convictions (Gilchrist, 2011). This brings controversy over all plea bargains .Speed and efficiency should never be placed over reaching the correct verdict. All that is needed for a plea bargain is admission from the defendant; however, a defendant cannot convict themselves with a testimony in trial. This practice illustrates the controversy of plea bargains as compared to more reliable trials. Plea bargains allow for defendants to be coerced into giving false admissions of guilt. Additionally, defendants are confused by their emotions during the plea bargain process. When faced with the difficult decision of a plea bargain, innocent defendants are often hurt by their emotions, which should not be the case. Gilchrist (2011) writes, Plea bargaining generates

When I was young, I saw mental conditions as an excuse people used to justify their poor behaviour. In other words, I did not take them seriously because of how I was raised. Since then, much has changed. I now realize that mental illness is an issue that has to be dealt with in order to help our society grow as a whole. To do so, we all need to support our community s non profit mental healthorganizations. Providing support through improved access to qualified non governmental organizations is an important action in dealing with the problems associated with mental illnesses that adversely affect our community. In today s society, people across the world are coming to a better understanding of the problem of mental illness, and the need to provide help for those suffering with mental health related issues in our communities. Sadly, this acceptance is still very low worldwide. In Ontario, approximately 70% of mental health challenges have their onset in childhood or youth. • 14. A Comparison Of Johann Sebastian Bach And George Frideric... Although numerous composers have shown their musicality from different musical periods, only some of the remarkably talented ones are still remembered and honored. Such composers compositions are performed all around the world even today. From the Baroque period, Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel are the two most renowned composers. Even though both of their compositions are considered to be well written, they have shown completely different musical styles. Bach composed pieces that are extremely complicated and intense, whereas Handel emphasized simplicity and clearness in his work. Since their approaches in composing music completely differ, it is improper to deduce who is better as they both are successful in their own unique ways. However, audiences in the Baroque period had a strong opinion as to who is more successful. Many musical experts from the Baroque period tend to indicate that Bach should have adopted Handel s musical styles in order for him to be even more acknowledged as a composer. According to the John Hawkins s A General History of the Science and Practice of Music, Johann Sebastian Bachwas born into a musical family. He was the son of a formal musician, John Ambrose Bach and the younger brother of an organist, John Christopher Bach. From a young age, Johann Sebastian Bach has learned to play Harpsichord and Organ. With these instruments, he started to pursue his career in music as an organist and a chamber musician at many churches.

Actually command economy refers to any such type of economic system where the government holds the authority of the major decisions such as how much to be produced, the price quotation for the produced goods and the quality of the produced goods in some extent also. So it is necessary to discuss how it will affect the Trio and other business organization. To say we can illustrate that here the company will not have the option to produce as its best wish rather than the government has (Piveronus, 2006). On the other hand the company has not the right to fix the price quotation rather it may be lower due to the government intervention on the company. The company cannot have the optimum quality production as the price charge may not come up with the said price. Market competition may be high. There is a little

(68) The American Dream is sought out by many, but they are often denied the privilege of prevailing in a predominantly successful society run by the top 1% who care more about a person s last name and economic status. For many, the American Dream is trading in the impoverished life they once lived in a second or third world country for financially stable and secure life to provide their family with a steady foundation for when they reach adulthood. Throughout history, influential figures have preached about the importance of the American Dream for the people of America, but in reality the American Dream is merely fiction. That original tension is illustrated in the Greek paideia, which not only contemplated the process of development of the human subject toward the good, but also venerated the influence of the object of learning; i.e., first the poetry of Homer, then the literature of Greece, then the total fine arts of the Greek culture. If we regard education as a process of shaping or forming, the object of learning plays the part of the mold by which the subject is shaped. The formative mold of early Greek paideia was Homer, and as time went on that role was expanded to Greek poetry at large. In the end, the word paideia meant Greek literature as a whole. Early Christians, hellenized and conversant in the use and didactic angularities of the Greek marketplace of education and dialogue, adopted the definition and implementation of paideia. But what exactly constitutes violence? Stipp and J. Essay on Benefits of a Tax on High Fat Foods Descartes In this essay, I will explain Descartes central method of doubt to investigate the truth of things, in which he wanted to be critical and generated four rules that he would use as guidance. With his method, he suspends judgment and prejudices to obtain better results. Descartes argues that despite syllogisms has truth in logic, it still has something defective, which is predominantly the multiplicity of rules. These rules might bring immorality and confusion, thus prevent him for arriving at the knowledge of things because it might bring more doubt than truth. At the beginning of the creation of his method, Descartes looks for a method of reason that would be free of the defects of logic, however, he still sought his method ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Following this model, he develops his method based on his reason alone without the interference from others or his prejudices that could affect his reasoning. He claims that the interference of more than one person, in the creation of something causes a less perfect and less organized thing compare to things done by only one person. For instance, he exemplifies this with his education; he considers his education has a deficiency because all the sciences taught to him were from different men from different eras. Moreover, in order for Descartes method to discover a great way for seeking the truth of things, he based his method on the geometrical style, which entails clarity and certainty of things. In geometry, Descartes finds the notion of clear and distinct ideas, which are considered clear and distinct because they are simple and unquestionable truths, and also they could be easy understood. In addition to it, he finds this method to be promising because he comprehends geometrical figures to be absolutely evident, not probabilistic. The fact that Descartes was looking for a method that will help him to find the truth of things encourages him to look for a method with the properties of logic, mathematics and geometry, but obviously excluding their defects. He just set out four rules rather than a large number of rules: 1) to never accept anything as true unless it is so clear and distinctly, meaning there is no minimum doubt; 2) to reduce every single complex

For the first time in nearly a generation Western Allies are able to see the capabilities of the Russian military, much like they ve been watching us in Iraq and Afghanistan. Considering this is the first near peer conflict in the 21st century, and the largest scale battles in Europe since the end of the Second World War , Western policy makers are able to glean some information on what new tactics the Russians are implementing. The most notable emergent tactics are the use of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance, new developments in reactive armor, massed artillery fire, and the use of siege type warfare.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... For the average infantry platoon, who may not have access to these countermeasures, the most obvious solution is better camouflage and more rapid movement. The use of hand held anti tank rockets was meant to balance the playing field between infantry and armor. However the Russian military has found a way to counter this and the main battle tank still remains decisive in modern battle. Modern Russian T 72B3 s use a reactive armor which deflects and disperses explosive rockets. The T 90 main battle tanks uses the same reactive armor, but also possesses an integrated active armor system, which uses a radar that detects incoming missiles and fires a shotgun like spray that disables the targeting system. While this is not a new tactic, but rather new technology, it will impact the effectiveness of American anti tank munitions. The Javelin anti tank missile has yet to be tested against this armor and can potentially fail. Since the average infantry platoon relies on the Javelin as its countermeasure to armor they will need to work closer with allied armor or close air support in order to survive encounters with modern battle tanks. As mentioned earlier the use of massed artillery is nothing new, but by combining long range artillery fire with UAV surveillance artillery has produced up to eighty percent of casualties

When it comes to the environmental impact that gas and diesel engines have. It turns out that gasoline is more unstable than diesel, not because of what its base consists of, but because of the additives it contains. In addition, vehicles that use diesel tend to be more fuel efficient and produce less greenhouse gases. Diesel is more environmentally friendly. The United States has what is considered to be the dirtiest diesel, but as of June 1, 2010 this is going to be different. U.S. diesel fuel has a lower measure of ignition quality. This means that when it is cold outside, ignition performance is poor and can result in higher emissions. This is why you see truck drivers idling their trucks all night long in cold weather rather than risk a troublesome start in the mornings. But, the sulfur in the diesel that is emitted during cold ignitions and long engine idling is still harmful to the environment because the sulfurs prevent the control of diesel particulate emissions through diesel particulate filters. This is changing, though, since new advanced technologies such as nitrogen oxide absorbers are being developed to reduce these emissions. As for gasoline, it is the non aliphatic hydrocarbons as well as carcinogenic additives
