Snack Food Industry
When performing a five forces model for the snack food industry, I first looked at competition
from rival sellers as I felt that this was the strongest threat for manufacturers. Rival sellers can
easily try to produce a new line of products, mimic a competitor s product, and it s difficult to
differentiate a snack foodfrom the competition as there is so much competition. The market isn t
quickly growing, so rivals are competing for the same customer base and there is very little if any
cost to switch from one snack food to the next. Many snack foodsare very similar and there are
hundreds if not thousands of competitors all fighting for the consumer s purchase.
A high competitive pressure exists from the sellers of substitute ... Show more content on

Other factors that would pertain to particular companies would include the healthiness of the
product. Some companies such as Kashi focus so much emphasis on the healthiness of their

their brand name while products such as cheese puffs appeal to a customer who isn t as worried

Is Hunting Ethical
Hunting has been around since the beginning of man. Early humans hunted to survive in the harsh
world. Hunting is still used to supply a source of food for many, but it has turned into a recreational
sport for some. The turn from means of survival to sport has spurred the argument over whether or
not huntingis humane or ethical. Hunting is very ethical because can help stop overpopulating
species, slow overgrazing, and be used as a source of food.
Overpopulating species can become very bad for an ecosystem. When a species goes unchecked
for a long period time, their population will quickly rise. The number of the animal will soon get
too high for the ecosystem to be able to supply food for them. This will cause a number of the
species to begin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They rely solely on the food that they can hunt down and make themselves. Hunting allows them
to survive the lifestyle they live. The living of the land lifestyle can only happen if hunting is
allowed because wildlife is part of the land. If hunting was ever outlawed, then numerous amounts
of people will lose their only source of food.
There are many organizations that oppose the idea of hunting citing that it is very inhumane to kill
a defenseless animal. PETA, for example, is a group that views hunting as a barbaric act of
savagery. They want to outlaw hunting because it hurts animals. They also preach about living a
vegetarian life. However, this is just not possible. The human body was designed to live off of the
proteins found in meat. This is why the basic instinct of man is to hunt and eat meat.
The argument over hunting being humane and ethical is quickly becoming a hot topic. It has
many backers on both sides. Hunting positively affects many families all over the world. Hunting
is a very beneficial act for the environment as it controls overpopulation, stops overgrazing, and
provides food for people all over the

Sociology of Tourism
Introduction
We have to understand the several concepts by means of definition and its integration.
Tourism Hunziker and Krapf, in 1941, defined tourism as the sum of the phenomena and
relationships arising from the travel and stay of non residents, insofar as they do not lead to
permanent residence and are not connected with any earning activity. In 1976, the TourismSociety
of England s definition was: Tourism is the temporary, short term movement of people to destination
outside the places where they normally live and work and their activities during the stay at each
destination. It includes movements for all purposes. In 1981, the International Association of
Scientific Experts in Tourism defined tourism in terms of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Demographical Socio cultural tourism can be segmented but due to an increase in diversity of
lifestyles, poor communities can easily target certain specific markets such as below extracted
travellers. A large percentage of travellers is keen to explore cultural facets of aimed communities
and is aware of the impact of tourism on poor cultures.
Ethical consumers of tourism products
28% of holidaymakers had an understanding that tourism can have negative impacts on local
cultures.
37% of holidaymakers tried to learn about the local culture before they travelled. 11% of
consumers were concerned that the economic impacts of tourism for the destination s economy

Just fewer than forty percent of holidaymakers in the survey cited that experiencing local cultures is
an important enjoyment factor for their holiday.

The researchers (20%) were likely to try to learn about local culture and they were concerned
about environmental impacts; they also may have sought a holiday with an ethical code. They

The ethically aware (11%) were mainly concerned with environmental impacts of tourism, but also

Physical Differences InCathedral, By Raymond Carver
In Cathedral by Raymond Carver writes seeing, looking, and feeling multiple times throughout the
story. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences.
Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing
that the main characters connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the
importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages
emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how
they can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people.
The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked
at them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking
is the shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and
gives the impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object.
The narrator never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me.
My idea of blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never
laughed (Carver 102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic
counterparts. He did not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their
appearance, and the narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the
beginning of the story and gave the reader a taste of the connection between
Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection
with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked.
The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this
ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Seeing is
exponentially better than looking because to see is to dig deeper than just looking. Seeing is to
look at the actual person, but not just their outside appearance. The narrator acknowledges this by
his actions: I reached to draw her robe back

Corn Syrup Pros And Cons
High fructose corn syrup (HFCS) is known to be a sweetener derived from corm, which comes in
two forms HFCS 42 and HFCS 55. This indicates it is made up of either fifty five percent or forty
two percent fructose and the remaining sugars are typically glucose. HFCS is considered to be
identical to table sugar, which is made up of fifty percent of fructoseand fifty percent glucose.
Fructose being a simple form of sugar can be found in foods such as honey and fruits. Some of
the pros of HFCS include: it is composed from corn that is a natural grain and therefore a natural
sweetener; it does not contain any artificial, synthetic contents, or colored additives; and it is
approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration s long standing policy as it is recognized as
being a natural substance ( About High Fructose Corn Syrup, 2016).... Show more content on

Obesity is contributed by the consumption of more calories than are expended as well as type II
diabetes, which are linked to obesity. The U.S. Department of Agriculture data indicates that
consumption of HFCS has been decreasing, while obesity and diabetes are rising. Other studies
indicate that many other parts of the world that do not have access to HFCS and are still seeing
a rise in obesity ( About High Fructose Corn Syrup, 2016). However, other indicators for the rise
of obesity may include: diet, exercise, and changes in a person s lifestyle. Sugars produce energy
in the form of calories providing building blocks for other molecules in, which the body requires
such as fats and proteins. Other benefits it provides other than as a sweetener consist of: texture,
functions as a preservative, helps with brown baked foods, provides fermentable sugars, retains
moisture, decreases the harsh vinegar or acid bite, regulates melting, boiling, and frizzing points in
certain products ( About High Fructose Corn Syrup,

Income Tax And Its Effect On Total Income
Income tax brings a total revenue of nearly $160 billion. It s the largest source of revenue from
tax with a percentage of 47.1% of total tax revenue is taken up by income tax. However questions
must be asked about what if the income tax is changed. The three issues which follow this change
are as follows:
Increasing income tax effects on total revenue/ tax take
Decreasing the income tax effect on fairness, equity and revenue
Tax mix if income tax is increased/ decreased what needs to be decreased/increased
Income level $Amount of tax
0 18,200$0
18,201 37,00019 cents for each $ over $18,200
37,001 80,000$3,572 + 32.5 cents for every $ over $37,000

Under the Howard government in 2003 there was a major economic booms which lead to high
exporting from Australia, including Iron ore and coal. As a result of the economic boom the
corporation tax increased dramatically. The effect of this was for John Howard to decrease the
income tax on five occasions and superannuation concessions were extended. This was John
Howard s gift to the taxpaying middle and upper classes. It was clearly a response perhaps
understandable to the export boom. The trouble was it had the effect of increasing budget deficits
in later years when tax revenues declined. In particular, budget deficits in the Labor (Gillard) years
were increased by Howard s Gift. Even now it has

Early Childhood Field Essay
After viewing the multimedia presentation, and doing some research the two major contributors of
early childhood field I chose to discuss is Lyndon B. Johnson of the Headstart sector, and Marian
Wright Edelman of the health and Well Beings sector. Although, there are others who were major
contributors to the childhood educationsector. Lyndon B. Johnson, was born in Stonewall, Texas.
After, the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, he was sworn in as the 36th President.
Lyndon Johnson, was a remarkable man. I can relate to this because, I can remember the things
he done to fight against poverty. In 1965, he created Project Headstart Program. This program
was designed to help children and families that was living in poverty, and below the poverty level
(lbjlibrary.org). He wanted to do something about poverty in the world, and that was affecting the
children and families. Although, the program was for the summer, and only lasted eight weeks. I

The Benefits Of Education In This Is Water By David Foster...
Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours
in a classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At
some point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree
that a change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people
have touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all
look beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more
they can gain. Throughout David Foster Wallaces speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs
didactic little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true
benefits of education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost
immediately, Wallace inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about
two young fish that eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing
question of how s the water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand
the obvious fact that they live in the water, it surrounds them. This story serves as an introduction to
the point Wallace hopes to give his audience, that a liberal artseducation is not so much about filling
you up with knowledge as it is about quote teaching you how to think. The speaker then prompts his
audience to

Ordinary Men Summary
Book Review: Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning Ordinary Men by Christopher Browning
is subtitled Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the Final Solution in Poland. This title is a perfect
overview of the subject of the book. Browning discussed Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the part
it played in the World War II during the Holocaust, especially in the Final Solution , which was the
attempted eradication of Jews. Not only does Browning discuss Battalion 101, but he uses them as
an example of how ordinary people can commit atrocities such as mass murder. Christopher
Browning is a professor of history at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He is
considered an expert on the Holocaust and has written several acclaimed books covering this
subject (Christopher R. Browning). To write this his book Ordinary Men, he relies on a collection
of indictments and judgements that took place from 1962 to 1972 (Browning xvii). These cases
that Browning studied are full of testimonies from Battalion 101 members. He writes Ordinary Men

The events of September 11 impacted international polices and the regional situation within
Pakistan necessitated change to its internal policies. Pakistan found that it had no risk free
options: all polices were full of danger and risk of varying degrees. The test was to adopt such a
policy and course of action that could minimize the risk and offered the best possible option in the
given circumstances.
Geo strategic location of Pakistan and links with Taliban administration absolved Pakistan to remain
unaffected immediately after the attack. Moreover Pakistan was among the three countries, which

Saussure s System For Evaluating Linguistics Essay
In Course in General Linguistics , Saussure does two things to develop his system for evaluating
linguistics: he chooses language as his linguistic object and he only incorporates factors into his
model that can be said to be true of all languages over all time. The net result is a very high level
and flexible classification structure, which is more intent on making a developmental framework
for evaluating linguisticsthan necessarily providing tremendous insight into it s more concrete
aspects: rudiments like structure, meaning, morphology, syntax, or phonology.
Others, including Levi Strauss in Structural Anthropology , have used
Saussure s methodology to develop their own models for study in different aspects of human
society. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But I feel he still needed to explicitly say it: that despite all the differences between languages, I
have identified these invariants to be true over all time, and I believe this is because of certain
specific commonalities between all humans, particularly the human desire to create and maintain an
effective and convenient system for communicating ideas with one another. Levi Strauss additional
step provides a sense of completeness to the process; that is to say that the last step provides the
why and what while Saussure s method provides the how .
Incorporating the Levi Strauss step gives us a new line of thought to ponder: engineering and
design. Going through the steps: Structural Anthropology first hypothesizes that myths exist to
provide people with anecdotes to help explain the unanswerable questions of their society such as
life versus death or love, etc. Then Levi
Strauss applies Saussure s method, designating a mythological object, in this case the myth itself,
and then determining a set of invariants true to all myths. The most interesting of these invariants is
the use of categories to deconstruct the events of a story into specific event types, which are
common across all myths. And finally, Levi Strauss uses his myth decomposition to draw
conclusions about the myth s moral and, by extension, the society that uses this myth.

The Pros And Cons Of The Equal Protection Clause
The Equal Protection Clause is part of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution.
The clause provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal
protection of the laws . Two landmark 14th Amendment cases are Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown
v. Board of Education. However, each case treated the 14th Amendment differently and this
caused a different outcome for each court case. In the Plessy v. Ferguson case, the statute of
Louisiana, acts of 1890, c. 111 requires train companies to provide separate but equal usage for
colored and white races. Plessy was a resident in the state of Louisiana which he was of mixed race
as he was seven eighths caucasian and one eighth black. He tried to use the whites only train section
and was arrested. Plessy then sued Louisiana State Supreme Justice, the Hon. John H. Ferguson for
violating his 13th Amendment which prevents slavery and his 14th Amendment which is equal
protection under US laws. ( Plessy v. Ferguson , 1). The Supreme Court, in a 7 1 decision, favored
Ferguson. The majority rejected Plessy s argument about violating his 13th and 14th Amendment
rights. Plessy s 14th Amendment argument was rejected because the Supreme Court states that
races could be separate and equal to each other. This set a precedent stating that separate but equal
was lawful and constitutional. Justice Henry Brown wrote the majority opinion, which rejected
Plessy s argument that the Louisiana law conflicted with

Signal Soldiers Must Be Adept At Operating Complex Signal...
Introduction
Signal Soldiers must be adept at operating complex signal systems and integrating progressive
technologies into the U. S. Army network. They must support multiple combat platforms from the
Infantry to Field Artillery and everything in between.
The rapid advancement of information technologies and a network centric force have transformed
the Army s warfighting capabilities. They have also impacted the Signal Corps ability to create
Soldiers who are capable of keeping pace. It must now rethink the process of how it is accesses,
trains, and sustains the Signal Soldier of the future. Since the war on terror, technological
developments in the signal realm have been numerous and far reaching. The Army network and
supported information technology (both hardware and software) provided by the Corps are an
integral part of warfighting capabilities and combat multipliers. Commanders and warfighters rely
on the knowledge and skills of the signal Soldiers to provide and implement these technologies to
meet their operational needs.
They expect the signal Soldier to be capable of establishing and maintaining communications in any
environment, to support any mission, independently or as a member of a team. They must be the
subject matter expert in their chosen profession. It is imperative that today s Soldier seamlessly
integrate automation, voice, data communications, and information applications into the network.

Carbon Dioxide Is Able To Influence Emissions
Carbon FRQ
a)Carbon is able to form covalent bonds with hydrogen and other atoms because it has four

carbon has the potential to form single, double, or triple bonds.
b)The greenhouse effect refers to radiation from the sun as it warms the earth. This is caused by the

The Importance Of Household Consumption
Household Consumption
Household Consumption is the value of goods and services that households buy to fulfil
everyday needs or wants. This includes expenditure on durable and non durable goods. Durable
goods are expected to last a long time, e.g. cars, driers, and fridges, whereas, non durable goods
include items that get utilised regularly and only last a short period of time e.g. groceries,
magazines and clothing .
Household consumption alone accounts for approximately 60% of Australian Gross Domestic
Product (GDP) and it is the GDP that determines the growth and success of the economy (Graph 1).
Graph 1
Household consumption is important and should be monitored as the things we buy everyday
create the demand that keeps companies profitable and hiring new workers. Businesses can offer
great products but if the products are not consumed, the profit will not remain for long. If profit
does not continue, people would be out of job and unable to buy goods and services.
This downward turn can decrease prices to drop which causes deflation and if the spending
continues to decrease, the economy could go into a recession. Other implications would include
less tax revenue collected by the government and this could put a restraint on the bank s lending
money.
However, increased spending can also damage the economy as it will intensify the growth. The
upward turn can increase prices which causes inflation. The consumer demand is higher than the
production of businesses and

It may be because of complex, ineffective flow in communication as a result of un integrated
information system in JAS. : Low performance in liquidity may be resulted from poor inventory
management and ineffective costs control. Firstly, JAS is facing the cash flow problem because
of having too many stocks in warehouse. Secondly, un integrated information system brings
some difficulties in costs control. In timely and inaccurate customers financial data makes JAS
difficult to retrieve debtors effectively. 2.2.2 Market The UK Government policies encourage
citizens to use more bicycles instead of other transportations as possible as they can because of
the congestion and air pollution. In addition, increasingly number of people has treated cycling

Brain Arteriovenous Malformation, Adult
A brain arteriovenous malformation (AVM) is a condition that means your arteries and veins are
tangled. The veins bring blood to the heart and lungs. The arteries bring blood away from the
heart and to the brain. If they are tangled, blood is not able to travel to where it is needed. Brain
AVM may also lead to bleeding in the brain (hemorrhage), which can be life threatening. Most brain
AVMs are present since birth (congenital).
CAUSES
It is not known what causes brain AVM. Genes that are passed down through families may cause

Agamemnan, The Inferno, Don Quixote Essay
Agamemnon, The Inferno, and Don Quixote may seem to be vastly different stories written across
centuries of time and within incongruous cultures but the three tales share related themes. * Set
among the ruling family of Argos, Aeschylus s Agamemnon examines the topic of justice: ancient
eye for an eye progressing toward modern disinterested justice, attributing all to the gods.
Similarly, in Dante Alighieri s Inferno each sinner is placed in a punishment to fit his crime: divine
perfection of justice. * Miguel de Cervantesapproaches the other side of justice, Don Quixote
questions what happens when an antiquated or fictional moral code is put into play in a different
time or place. * What is Justice? Aeschylus suspends justice somewhere... Show more content on

Chorus that [Zeus] lays it down as law that we must suffer, suffer into truth. According to them,
Justice is not meted out by man s will alone, but as a cog in the machine of the gods; a means to a
divine end. *
In the following plays, the wheel comes full circle as Agamemnon s son comes home to avenge
his death, by killing his mother Clytemnestra. Under the system in which they have labored to
this point, her death should beget the death of her son and so one SP. However, having been
killed by her son, in retribution for killing her husband, Clytemnestra s death cannot be avenged.
There is no one left to claim that responsibility. Aeschylus s gods step in and create a newer,
better system of justice to put an end to the vicious cycle. Justice is an imperfect proposition until
a higher power steps in and sets it right. Aeschylus uses several literary devices to portray the
imperfection of the old system.
Throughout the play, in many lines Aeschylus makes use of parallel structures. This device is
melodic but also symbolic of the two separate systems of Justice. Looking at the flaws of the
ancient system, the chorus says Each charge meets counter charge, and The plunderer

Bellagio Case Summary
In the case of Bellagio v. National Labor Relations Board, The United States Court of Appeals
was asked to rule on whether a ruling made by the NLRB was appropriate. The case concerned a
bellman at the Bellagio Hotel who solicited a tip from a customer, which was against company
policy. The customer complained to management, and the bellman was summoned to a meeting
regarding the complaint. When asked about the complaint, the bellman requested a union
representative; however, he declined to contact one by his own effort. The Bellagio tried to find a
union rep, but was unable to locate one at that time, so they informed the Bellman that he could fill
out a statement without a rep, or the meeting would be postponed and he would be put on
suspension pending investigation until the matter was cleared up. It was clearly indicated that the
SPI was not disciplinary and the SPI would not stay in his employee file, but that he could not work
until the investigation was completed. As he... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Asking the employee not to speak of a disciplinary matter while it is investigated does not seem to
me to be coercion. The employee might have had ulterior motives for not leaving the premises.
While the court suggested that this is coercion, I would say that it is common sense. Since the
bellman gave no statement, the Bellagio does not know if he is trying to influence a potential
witness or simply vent to a fellow employee. There is also the potential of a customer overhearing
his complaint, and that would be unprofessional. Overall, I think the hotel handled the complaint
and discipline issue in a professional manner, while the employee tried to abuse the system. A
minor infraction, which should have been handled quickly and easily, became a case that wasted
time, money, and valuable court docket

Analysis Of Torture For Christ By Richard Wurmbrand
The book Tortured for Christ, by Richard Wurmbrand, details the horrific acts of violence and
torture that he and his fellow Romanian Christians endured under the communist regime in their
country. After these experiences, Wurmbrand founded the Voice of the Martyrs, which is an
organization dedicated to telling the story of persecuted Christians all over the world. This book
was written over the course of three days after Wurmbrand was released by the Communists. The
book is seven chapters long, and each chapter details the different parts of his life while under the
communist rule and his experiences in the West. The first two chapters of the book talks about
Wurmbrand s conversion to Christ, and the hunger for Him that many Russian people... Show more

He equates what they suffered to be worse than hell, and quotes a priest as saying they have
suffered more than Christ. To date, I have never been physically persecuted for my faith, so
maybe I am not qualified to contest these statements. But I believe to say that one has suffered
more than Christ suffered is problematic at best. Since the death of Christ, we must realize that
we are never truly alone. A Christian is given the Holy Spirit upon conversion, and he guides and
directs us as we live our lives. When Jesus died on the cross, he was completely alone. Mark says
that the Father turned his face away from Jesus. Jesus asked the Father why he had forsaken
him. That is the feeling of being truly alone, and I do not believe that any human who knows the
love of Christ can ever be alone. When faced with horrific trials, we must not look to Christ and
say I have suffered more than you , we must look to Christ and say I suffer because of you . This
book helped tremendously in developing a lot of skills that I have practiced over the years.
When reading this book, I read it with a very critical eye. Reading the book this way helped me to
not get caught up in any emotional turmoil that would cause me top read the book from a biased
viewpoint. When reading works of any stance, reading with an open mind is very important when

Who Decided To Make A Riot Analysis
Assignment 4 Who decided to make a riot one day? Why did they think violence should be the
answer? When it comes down to the people getting our voice heard, brutality should not have
been a thought that came to mind. Riots are irrelevant because of how innocent people are
victimized when they aren t the ones causing the unfair treatment in our society. I wonder why
individuals go against their own people when it s the ones who are in charge of decision making
who we should be angry with. I think that s exactly what the government wants us to do, go
against each other so they could throw us in prison and make billions of dollars off of us. If the
people knew what they were doing to themselves I guarantee they would put an end to it. It seems

Examples Of Social Expectations In Great Expectations
The plot revolves around Pip s change in social class and his happiness with it. From the
beginning, Pip is exposed to different social classes and how they are different from each other,
how society sees them, etc. He is, at a young age, removed from his home, and given the means to
be in a higher social class. I am instructed to communicate to him, said Mr Jaggers[...], that he will
come into a handsome property [...] immediately removed from his present sphere [...] and from
this place, and be brought up as a gentleman (Dickens 245). In this quote, Pip meets Jaggers, who

gentleman. In this section of the story, Pip believes that being a gentleman is solely about social
statusand the amount of money one has. His encounters with Estella have made him believe that

Globalization And The Concept Of Flexibility
Globalization and the concept of flexibility have been described to have a plethora of
implications on Human Resource Management (EH Bax, 1996). Hence, HR Managers are faced
with new challenges arising out of globalization, as they are saddled with the responsibility of
implementing adaptable strategies to the concept of flexibility, and to remain abreast with the
changing times. The increased power of market forces, the globalization of business and the
associated de institutionalization of the business firm s internal industrial relations have implied
that the meaning of the firm as a social group has been reduced to a social collectively in which
instrumental rationality and efficiency as defined by management have become the dominant
norms. Economies than can improve their competitiveness by de institutionalizing their markets,
notably by increasing the flexibility of the labour market and by decreasing the costs of labour
by breaking down all kinds of institutional arrangements like social security provisions and
workers rights. (EH Bax, 1996) Modern HRM is not only about selecting and recruiting people
for specific job structures but also taking up the responsibility of the designing and re designing of
these job structures as per the market and changing company norms. The organization s demands
now dominate the worker: his qualifications have to fit completely to exigencies of the relevant
tasks (EH Bax, 1996). Hence one of the implications is the need to

that Glass has to address and determine specific training and development needs to help both

much as there is a personal interest to retain Sander, is the possibility of seeing other employee
turnover. This case study gives us the impression that Alex is not open to the feedback that will
be provided in the 360В° performance review. Sander is aware of anger and temper issues but
actually views it as strengths and a great management tool. We understand that Sander intends to
disregard this feedback but we must also understand is that this review process is new to the
organization. We have a twofold issue here as the case study articulates to us through Sam Glass,
that many people in the organization feel the same way about the 360В° performance review.
Perhaps this is the first issue that needs to be addressed and the managers need to first see the
value in this review process and have a better understanding of its mechanics before they roll it
out. By reinforcing the idea to an already inflexible high achiever that they are not alone is the
disapproval of this process does not set the appropriate foundation for this organization to fully
benefit from what the 360В° performance review

The study of sociology has many different concepts and terms, three distinct theoretical approaches
to view situations and concepts, and regarding the political side of things, two majorly different

The World Of The Arab Emirates
Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, is
planning a new megaproject, The Mall of the World. This project will be located in Al Sufouh,
Dubai, which is one of the seven emirates that compose the United Arab Emirates. The United Arab
Emirates is located in the eastern end of the Arabian Peninsula. It also extends part of the Gulf of
Oman and the Persian Gulf on its southern coast. This positioned the country to have bordering
countries such as Saudi Arabia to the southwest, Qatar and Iran in the north, and Oman in the east.

of the United Arab Emirates history is their federation being formed in 1971. Specifically, this

Telephoto Lens
A telephoto lens can also change the perspective of the picture, giving a completely new angle or
focus to your photo. Also, telephoto lenses are handy at compressing perspective. This is when
the background of a photo appears to be closer to the subject than what is experienced with the
naked eye. This is beneficial when you cannot physically move your subject closer to the
background. You can also fill the frame of your photo by getting shots from a far distance. This
will bring in objects further back into the frame, filling out the edges of your shot nicely. With
this lens, you can isolate far away objects much better than with a wide angle lens. Since the
telephoto zoom closes the distance between you and your subject, it is ideal for capturing pictures
of wildlife. Next to using an actual telescope, a telephoto lens is the best way to photograph the

WOW, that is a lot of patients! This week s lessons discusses the evolving role of the school nurse
not only attending the students needs but involvement in policy making activities at both the local

How Does Rebecca Define Clarity
Clarity Although clarity has many meanings and is most often used as being clear and concise,
it can be much more than that. The person who declares one definition is not always right.
Whether it s what he said, she said, or they said, it does not mean they are exactly right or wrong.
Clarity could be a messy word because it s broad. Rebecca might say that it holds a feeling or
moment and others could say it means to be clear about what you are saying. Many people could
have a different outlook. Rebecca s way of defining clarity is good because she allows more than
a definition of the word but a definition of the idea. Many people go through hard times in life and

disappeared into the jungle, and in three weeks came out on the other side of the Island, having
traversed a hostile country on foot and delivered his letter to Garcia are things I have no special
desire now to tell in detail. Then, Hubbard explained, here was a rare man who had the
ingredients for success that are needed everywhere. Rowan immediately set out to do what he
was asked to do and he did it. There were no excuses or foot dragging. He didn t demand that
someone furnish him with detailed plans of how to accomplish this assignment. He didn t
hesitate. He didn t waste time. He didn t give up, although there were plenty of temptations to
do so. He stayed focused on his goal, partly because he saw how it fit with a much larger goal.
He was tough and tenacious. All of which are key characteristics for a successful worker.
Something to take note of was that Rowan was recommended to President McKinley to delivering
the message to Garcia. This means that people were aware that Rowan was the most capable to
complete the difficult task. He was already known by others to be a man that gets his work done
under any circumstance. Hubbard continues and mentions that after Rowan was given the job, he
went to work without further questions. Rowan is portrayed to be the ideal worker in

Fee Simple Research Paper
Fee simple defeasible is another way of saying fee simple qualified. Fee simple qualified is an
estate for which owner has fee simple title subject to a condition. If the condition is not met, then
the title passes back to the owner. It is a conditional estate based on that condition. A condition
subsequent is a condition that must occur after the transaction and a condition precedent is a
condition that must occur prior to the transaction. The classic example is that of a specific use
being required of a property. A man gave his property to the city to use as a library. Years later
the city stopped using the property as a library and the man s heirs demanded the property back.
The man s family regained title because the title held by the city was a fee simpledefeasible
/ qualified title and the condition was that the property be used as a library. Just as a contrast, a fee
simple absolute, is a transfer with no conditions. Synonyms: fee simple qualified Antonyms: fee

There are two types of overall estates, freehold estates which are owned and less than freehold
estates which are rented or leased. There are two types of freehold estates: estate in fee and life
estates. A life estate is based on the life of a specified person. There are two types of estate in
fee, fee simple qualified and fee simple absolute. The fee simple qualified is based on some
condition (precedent or subsequent). The fee simple absolute is the completely unrestricted in any
way estat¬e. When a home is purchased under normal conditions in America, it is a fee simple
absolute estate. Fee simple absolute is an estate in fee which means it is a perpetual estate or an
estate of inheritance too. The fact that a home is purchased instead of rented makes the estate a
freehold estate. A fee simple absolute is the completely unrestricted in any way

Carl Sandburg Research Papers
On January 6, 1878 Carl Sandburg was born in Illinois in a cottage situated near the railroad
tracks. He was born on top of a corn husk mattress, to his father and mother; August and Clara
Sandburg. Both August and Clara were Swedish immigrants. Carl s father disliked and
discouraged his interest in books while his mother heavily encouraged reading and his education.
Sandburg s life was an epic story that included him being a hobo and working a large variety of
jobs. Carl dropped out of school during the eighth grade and immediately started working. He spent
short periods doing things like: learning the tinner s business, washing bottles in a pop botteling

This taught him to hear poetry in the everyday words and conversations, as well as see
harmonies in a cornfield. In Galesburg Carl worked as a newspaper delivery boy for the
Republican Register and also delivered the papers from Chicago. He earned insight from the
newspaper business and obtained an interest in the newspaper field. His father bought him free
pass to Chicago on the CB Q, in June 1896. Carl s visit provided him with inspiration for many
years. His first visit that June planted the seed of his poetic vision, and made him the poet he
was. When he turned eighteen he had experienced most of the influences and developed the
interests that would create the foundation of his work. After returning from Chicago Carl said, I m
going away. I m going to be a writer. And if I can t be a writer, I ll be a hobo . Carl had an urge to
see the world outside of Galesburg, Illinois. In order to do so he got on a freight train to travel
across the Midwest. He spent four months on his first trip and on his second he spent two years.
While traveling he worked odd jobs and

Being Materialistic Is Just a Waste of Time.
People now are more concerned with making more money and what money can buy. The more
money they have, the greater they think of themselves. Is money really important? Does money
guarantee you success and happiness in life? I do not think so. People who are materialistic are
the kind of people who do not see much in life. They only see life as a medium for them to make
more money and be happy. To me, being materialistic is a waste of time, not to mention a waste
of effort in making so much money and spent it on goods. I also think that by being materialistic
you are defined yourself indirectly and it sets a boundary in your life. Why do I say that being
materialistic is a waste of time? You see, you are so caught up in making more money... Show more

Essay on Philip II of Spain
Philip II of Spain
To fully answer this question it is necessary to truly evaluate each of his policies with dealing his
enemies and compatriots both foreign and domestic throughout his reign. This essay will
attempt to take each main area of conflict in his life and provide clear indications as to the degree
of success that Philip achieved. Philip s character itself is a critical as his personality and
characteristics convey, not only himself, but also his empire to others. It is believed by some
historians that Philip was a far poorer leader than his father, Charles I, who had reigned before
him. Philip grew up to be an outsider and carried this flaw with him into leadership. He never fully
trusted anyone and so was incapable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This effort was largely a failure as provided that the moriscos went to Christian mass and looked
to be practising their new religion, then little more was asked of them. The majority of moriscos
retained their old faith in spite of Phillip s efforts. It wasn t until the 1560s that Phillip decided
that his policy would have to be changed. A section of the Christian clergy were angry that the
moriscos abided in name only and insisted that action needed to be taken. There was a higher
military incentive to remove the presence of the moriscos, however. While the battle in the
Mediterranean between the Spanish and the Turks raged on, it was feared that the moriscos could
become an enemy within . It was deemed possible that the moriscos would support a Turkish
incursion, particularly from North Africa. There was also a chance that they would join with
Protestants in Southern France in any attack on Spain itself. Phillip was extremely concerned
about Turkish power and agreed that any possibility of a Turkish morisco alliance would have to
be quashed. It is for these reasons that Phillip took the decision to take a sterner approach on the
moriscos in Granada. This new policy began in 1567. The morisocs were completely forbidden to
practice any of their own customs including language and dress. They were to suffer

Stereotypes, Prejudice, And Prejudice
In recent discussions of American Born Chinese, a controversial issue has been whether
Yang represents the stereotype successfully on his book or not. On the one hand, some argue
that he go a little off from his main point from his book. From this perspective, many people
found the book that it is not good enough to read. On the other hand, however, others insist that
Yang did a great job on representing stereotypes, which makes his book very powerful and
interesting to read. In the words of one of this view s proponents, I had heard about stereotypes,
but never really fully understood them. This book has taught me to at least get a little grasp on the
pain and hurt that stereotypes can really cause. (Printz p.g 11). According to this view, many
people really got the meaning of stereotypes by reading American Born Chines. In sum, then, the
issue is whether Yang represents the stereotypes well enough in his book or not. My own view is
that Yang successfully stated stereotypes in his book that made it a powerful book. After, all, I have
chosen to identify as a college student at Winona State University. Though I concede that Yang
could ended his book differently to make it more interesting, but I still maintain that he stated the
stereotype successfully because he made it clear enough to the reader to see the stereotypes from
the text and images and using three different stories in the same book. Combining texts and images
to clarify stereotypes to the reader was an

Juror 7 12 Angry Men
The movie 12 Angry Men is about a group of jurors that are trying to decide if a boy is guilty of
killing his father. Throughout the movie most of the jurors believe that the boy is guilty and
they believe he is guilty because these jurors are discriminating against the boy. They judge the
boy based on where he is from and his background rather than further discussing the evidence.
However one juror, juror eight, kept an open mind which promoted reason and he tries to show
this reason to the other jurors. He knows what it is like to be a boy at that age. His goal is to get
the other jurors to look more closely at the evidence and understand that a person s life is at risk.
He is not judging the boy based on his background or where he... Show more content on

All of the jurors are calm sitting around the table thinking it was an obvious decision, until juror
eight votes non guilty. The other jurors believe that the evidence given by the witnesses should
be enough to prove that the boy is guilty. They also refer to the boy s background. Juror seven
makes a statement that you could tell that the boy was a dangerous killer and the boy s record.
He mentions these things to try and convince the other jurors that they boy was guilty and there
was no need to further discuss the evidence. The jurors think the boy is dangerous because of
where he was raised. The boy was raised in a bad part of town where the jurors believed violence
was a way of life for people like him . These jurors did not have an open mind about the boy. They
do not want to look further into the evidence because they do not see the point in doing that. Some
jurors begin to walk around and this shows their aggravation of having to stay and further discuss
the evidence. At this point these jurors are not keeping an open mind and they are ignoring reason.

Apology, By Plato s Apology
I know, I do not know, are the words that constitute Socrates philosophy that The only true wisdom
is in knowing you know nothing. In Apology, written by Plato, this ethical belief makes a bold
appearance demonstrating that true ignorance only revolves around those who think that they know
everything. In Apology, Socrateslearns that the wisest men are those who do not think of
themselves of wise, and rather make an approach of going beyond an authentic method of inquiry
and helping others seek their personal philosophies which may result in conflict. In Platos Apology,
Socrates demonstrates that introspection is the key to living life with purpose. Socrates knowing
himself, held in certain that he had no wisdom small or great (Plato, trans. 1871). Upon hearing
the prophecy about him from the Oracle of Delphi asserting that there was no man wiser than him
in all of Athens, he became puzzled (Plato, trans. 1871). In response to the message about him
from the Oracle of Delphi, Socrates felt obliged to disprove this statement by seeking a wiser man,
and once found he would refute the prophecy by affirming to God Here is a man who is wiser than
I am; but you said that I was the wisest (Plato, trans. 1871). Socrates embarked on a search for men
with the reputation of wisdom. First, he interrogated a politician, then the poets, and then artisans.
While questioning the politician, he found that although he was thought wise by many, and wiser

Snack Food Industry When performing a five forces model for the snack food industry, I first looked at competition from rival sellers as I felt that this was the strongest threat for manufacturers. Rival sellers can easily try to produce a new line of products, mimic a competitor s product, and it s difficult to differentiate a snack foodfrom the competition as there is so much competition. The market isn t quickly growing, so rivals are competing for the same customer base and there is very little if any cost to switch from one snack food to the next. • 5. Is Hunting Ethical Hunting has been around since the beginning of man. Early humans hunted to survive in the harsh world. Hunting is still used to supply a source of food for many, but it has turned into a recreational sport for some. The turn from means of survival to sport has spurred the argument over whether or not huntingis humane or ethical. Hunting is very ethical because can help stop overpopulating species, slow overgrazing, and be used as a source of food. Overpopulating species can become very bad for an ecosystem. When a species goes unchecked for a long period time, their population will quickly rise. The number of the animal will soon get too high for the ecosystem to be able to supply food for them. There are many organizations that oppose the idea of hunting citing that it is very inhumane to kill a defenseless animal. PETA, for example, is a group that views hunting as a barbaric act of savagery. They want to outlaw hunting because it hurts animals. They also preach about living a vegetarian life. However, this is just not possible. The human body was designed to live off of the proteins found in meat. This is why the basic instinct of man is to hunt and eat meat. The argument over hunting being humane and ethical is quickly becoming a hot topic. It has many backers on both sides. Hunting positively affects many families all over the world. • 8. Physical Differences InCathedral, By Raymond Carver In Cathedral by Raymond Carver writes seeing, looking, and feeling multiple times throughout the story. Cathedral is about two men bonding disregarding their prejudice, and physical differences. Carver writes passages that describe the difference between looking, seeing, and feeling; revealing that the main characters connection to Robert gets stronger as the story progressed, emphasizing the importance of the connection between the narrator and Robert throughout the story. The passages emphasize the importance of how relationships develop and strengthen over time and show how they can form between people that had prejudices or preconceived notions against those people. The main character s thoughts and beliefs on blind people are solely based off of how he looked at them from his television and reveals that he has a weak connection to them. Generally, looking is the shallowest of the three actions that people do (listed above). Looking is cold, distant and gives the impression that the person who is looking is only digging at the surface of an object. The narrator never interacted with blind people before Robert: And his being blind bothered me. My idea of blindness came from the movies. In the movies, the blind moved slowly and never laughed (Carver 102). The narrator decided to dislike blind people after looking at their cinematic counterparts. He did not dig deeper into what they were saying, just judged them based off of their appearance, and the narrator then judged Robert before he had met him. This quote came from the beginning of the story and gave the reader a taste of the connection between Robert and the narrator. This leads the reader to believe that they did not have a strong connection with each other before they interacted because of the way blind people looked. The main character has met Robert, talked about their lives, and got to know each other; this ultimately allowed the main character to see Robert and form a relationship with him. Seeing is exponentially better than looking because to see is to dig deeper than just looking. Seeing is to look at the actual person, but not just their outside appearance. The narrator acknowledges this by his actions: I reached to draw her robe back ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. The Benefits Of Education In This Is Water By David Foster... Many high school students have grown jaded with the modern education system, sitting for hours in a classroom almost every day having seemingly useless information crammed into their brains. At some point, the curiosity died and left behind the average student of today. Most people will agree that a change must occur within the way the youth receives an education; however, fewer people have touched on the concept that the students must change their mindsets as well. They must all look beyond the surface level education that teachers tend to focus on and understand what more they can gain. Throughout David Foster Wallaces speech This is Water, Wallace primarily employs didactic little parable ish stories along with hyperbolic examples to enforce the idea that the true benefits of education come from learning simple awareness rather than knowledge. Almost immediately, Wallace inserts the opening to the story that gives his speech a title, speaking about two young fish that eventually come across an an older fish who asks them the oddly perplexing question of how s the water? . He then goes on to explain that somehow, the fish do not understand the obvious fact that they live in the water, it surrounds them. This story serves as an introduction to the point Wallace hopes to give his audience, that a liberal artseducation is not so much about filling you up with knowledge as it is about quote teaching you how to think. This title is a perfect overview of the subject of the book. Browning discussed Reserve Police Battalion 101 and the part it played in the World War II during the Holocaust, especially in the Final Solution , which was the attempted eradication of Jews. Christopher Browning is a professor of history at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington. He is considered an expert on the Holocaust and has written several acclaimed books covering this subject (Christopher R. Browning). To write this his book Ordinary Men, he relies on a collection of indictments and judgements that took place from 1962 to 1972 (Browning xvii). Saussure s System For Evaluating Linguistics Essay In Course in General Linguistics , Saussure does two things to develop his system for evaluating linguistics: he chooses language as his linguistic object and he only incorporates factors into his model that can be said to be true of all languages over all time. The net result is a very high level and flexible classification structure, which is more intent on making a developmental framework for evaluating linguisticsthan necessarily providing tremendous insight into it s more concrete aspects: rudiments like structure, meaning, morphology, syntax, or phonology. Others, including Levi Strauss in Structural Anthropology , have used Saussure s methodology to develop their own models for study in different aspects of human society. But ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... But I feel he still needed to explicitly say it: that despite all the differences between languages, I have identified these invariants to be true over all time, and I believe this is because of certain specific commonalities between all humans, particularly the human desire to create and maintain an effective and convenient system for communicating ideas with one another. Levi Strauss additional step provides a sense of completeness to the process; that is to say that the last step provides the why and what while Saussure s method provides the how . Incorporating the Levi Strauss step gives us a new line of thought to ponder: engineering and design. Going through the steps: Structural Anthropology first hypothesizes that myths exist to provide people with anecdotes to help explain the unanswerable questions of their society such as life versus death or love, etc. Then Levi Strauss applies Saussure s method, designating a mythological object, in this case the myth itself, and then determining a set of invariants true to all myths. The most interesting of these invariants is the use of categories to deconstruct the events of a story into specific event types, which are common across all myths. And finally, Levi Strauss uses his myth decomposition to draw conclusions about the myth s moral and, by extension, the society that uses this myth. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The clause provides that no state shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws . Two landmark 14th Amendment cases are Plessy v. Ferguson and Brown v. Board of Education. However, each case treated the 14th Amendment differently and this caused a different outcome for each court case. In the Plessy v. Ferguson case, the statute of Louisiana, acts of 1890, c. 111 requires train companies to provide separate but equal usage for colored and white races. Plessy was a resident in the state of Louisiana which he was of mixed race as he was seven eighths caucasian and one eighth black. He tried to use the whites only train section and was arrested. Plessy then sued Louisiana State Supreme Justice, the Hon. John H. Ferguson for violating his 13th Amendment which prevents slavery and his 14th Amendment which is equal protection under US laws. ( Plessy v. Ferguson , 1). The Supreme Court, in a 7 1 decision, favored Ferguson. The majority rejected Plessy s argument about violating his 13th and 14th Amendment rights. Plessy s 14th Amendment argument was rejected because the Supreme Court states that races could be separate and equal to each other. This set a precedent stating that separate but equal was lawful and constitutional. • 20. The Importance Of Household Consumption Household Consumption Household Consumption is the value of goods and services that households buy to fulfil everyday needs or wants. This includes expenditure on durable and non durable goods. Durable goods are expected to last a long time, e.g. cars, driers, and fridges, whereas, non durable goods include items that get utilised regularly and only last a short period of time e.g. groceries, magazines and clothing . Household consumption alone accounts for approximately 60% of Australian Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and it is the GDP that determines the growth and success of the economy (Graph 1). Graph 1 Household consumption is important and should be monitored as the things we buy everyday create the demand that keeps companies profitable and hiring new workers. Businesses can offer great products but if the products are not consumed, the profit will not remain for long. If profit does not continue, people would be out of job and unable to buy goods and services. This downward turn can decrease prices to drop which causes deflation and if the spending continues to decrease, the economy could go into a recession. Other implications would include less tax revenue collected by the government and this could put a restraint on the bank s lending money. However, increased spending can also damage the economy as it will intensify the growth. The upward turn can increase prices which causes inflation. However, having been killed by her son, in retribution for killing her husband, Clytemnestra s death cannot be avenged. There is no one left to claim that responsibility. Aeschylus s gods step in and create a newer, better system of justice to put an end to the vicious cycle. Justice is an imperfect proposition until a higher power steps in and sets it right. Aeschylus uses several literary devices to portray the imperfection of the old system. Throughout the play, in many lines Aeschylus makes use of parallel structures. This device is melodic but also symbolic of the two separate systems of Justice. Looking at the flaws of the ancient system, the chorus says Each charge meets counter charge, and The plunderer ... • 25. Bellagio Case Summary In the case of Bellagio v. National Labor Relations Board, The United States Court of Appeals was asked to rule on whether a ruling made by the NLRB was appropriate. The case concerned a bellman at the Bellagio Hotel who solicited a tip from a customer, which was against company policy. The customer complained to management, and the bellman was summoned to a meeting regarding the complaint. When asked about the complaint, the bellman requested a union representative; however, he declined to contact one by his own effort. The Bellagio tried to find a union rep, but was unable to locate one at that time, so they informed the Bellman that he could fill out a statement without a rep, or the meeting would be postponed and he would be put on suspension pending investigation until the matter was cleared up. It was clearly indicated that the SPI was not disciplinary and the SPI would not stay in his employee file, but that he could not work until the investigation was completed. As he... Since the bellman gave no statement, the Bellagio does not know if he is trying to influence a potential witness or simply vent to a fellow employee. There is also the potential of a customer overhearing his complaint, and that would be unprofessional. Overall, I think the hotel handled the complaint and discipline issue in a professional manner, while the employee tried to abuse the system. Analysis Of Torture For Christ By Richard Wurmbrand The book Tortured for Christ, by Richard Wurmbrand, details the horrific acts of violence and torture that he and his fellow Romanian Christians endured under the communist regime in their country. After these experiences, Wurmbrand founded the Voice of the Martyrs, which is an organization dedicated to telling the story of persecuted Christians all over the world. This book was written over the course of three days after Wurmbrand was released by the Communists. He equates what they suffered to be worse than hell, and quotes a priest as saying they have suffered more than Christ. To date, I have never been physically persecuted for my faith, so maybe I am not qualified to contest these statements. But I believe to say that one has suffered more than Christ suffered is problematic at best. Since the death of Christ, we must realize that we are never truly alone. A Christian is given the Holy Spirit upon conversion, and he guides and directs us as we live our lives. When Jesus died on the cross, he was completely alone. Mark says that the Father turned his face away from Jesus. Jesus asked the Father why he had forsaken him. That is the feeling of being truly alone, and I do not believe that any human who knows the love of Christ can ever be alone. When faced with horrific trials, we must not look to Christ and say I have suffered more than you , we must look to Christ and say I suffer because of you . Hence, HR Managers are faced with new challenges arising out of globalization, as they are saddled with the responsibility of implementing adaptable strategies to the concept of flexibility, and to remain abreast with the changing times. The increased power of market forces, the globalization of business and the associated de institutionalization of the business firm s internal industrial relations have implied that the meaning of the firm as a social group has been reduced to a social collectively in which instrumental rationality and efficiency as defined by management have become the dominant norms. Economies than can improve their competitiveness by de institutionalizing their markets, notably by increasing the flexibility of the labour market and by decreasing the costs of labour by breaking down all kinds of institutional arrangements like social security provisions and workers rights. Is money really important? Does money guarantee you success and happiness in life? I do not think so. People who are materialistic are the kind of people who do not see much in life. They only see life as a medium for them to make more money and be happy. To me, being materialistic is a waste of time, not to mention a waste of effort in making so much money and spent it on goods. I also think that by being materialistic you are defined yourself indirectly and it sets a boundary in your life. Why do I say that being materialistic is a waste of time? • 47. Essay on Philip II of Spain Philip II of Spain To fully answer this question it is necessary to truly evaluate each of his policies with dealing his enemies and compatriots both foreign and domestic throughout his reign. This essay will attempt to take each main area of conflict in his life and provide clear indications as to the degree of success that Philip achieved. Philip s character itself is a critical as his personality and characteristics convey, not only himself, but also his empire to others. It is believed by some historians that Philip was a far poorer leader than his father, Charles I, who had reigned before him. Philip grew up to be an outsider and carried this flaw with him into leadership. He never fully trusted anyone and so was incapable ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This effort was largely a failure as provided that the moriscos went to Christian mass and looked to be practising their new religion, then little more was asked of them. The majority of moriscos retained their old faith in spite of Phillip s efforts. It wasn t until the 1560s that Phillip decided that his policy would have to be changed. A section of the Christian clergy were angry that the moriscos abided in name only and insisted that action needed to be taken. There was a higher military incentive to remove the presence of the moriscos, however. While the battle in the Mediterranean between the Spanish and the Turks raged on, it was feared that the moriscos could become an enemy within . It was deemed possible that the moriscos would support a Turkish incursion, particularly from North Africa. There was also a chance that they would join with Protestants in Southern France in any attack on Spain itself. Phillip was extremely concerned about Turkish power and agreed that any possibility of a Turkish morisco alliance would have to be quashed. It is for these reasons that Phillip took the decision to take a sterner approach on the moriscos in Granada. This new policy began in 1567. The morisocs were completely forbidden to practice any of their own customs including language and dress. They were to suffer ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. Stereotypes, Prejudice, And Prejudice In recent discussions of American Born Chinese, a controversial issue has been whether Yang represents the stereotype successfully on his book or not. On the one hand, some argue that he go a little off from his main point from his book. From this perspective, many people found the book that it is not good enough to read. On the other hand, however, others insist that Yang did a great job on representing stereotypes, which makes his book very powerful and interesting to read. In the words of one of this view s proponents, I had heard about stereotypes, but never really fully understood them. This book has taught me to at least get a little grasp on the pain and hurt that stereotypes can really cause. (Printz p.g 11). According to this view, many people really got the meaning of stereotypes by reading American Born Chines. In sum, then, the issue is whether Yang represents the stereotypes well enough in his book or not. My own view is that Yang successfully stated stereotypes in his book that made it a powerful book. After, all, I have chosen to identify as a college student at Winona State University. Though I concede that Yang could ended his book differently to make it more interesting, but I still maintain that he stated the stereotype successfully because he made it clear enough to the reader to see the stereotypes from the text and images and using three different stories in the same book. Combining texts and images to clarify stereotypes to the reader was an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However one juror, juror eight, kept an open mind which promoted reason and he tries to show this reason to the other jurors. He knows what it is like to be a boy at that age. The other jurors believe that the evidence given by the witnesses should be enough to prove that the boy is guilty. They also refer to the boy s background. Juror seven makes a statement that you could tell that the boy was a dangerous killer and the boy s record. He mentions these things to try and convince the other jurors that they boy was guilty and there was no need to further discuss the evidence. The jurors think the boy is dangerous because of where he was raised. The boy was raised in a bad part of town where the jurors believed violence was a way of life for people like him . These jurors did not have an open mind about the boy. They do not want to look further into the evidence because they do not see the point in doing that. • 51. Apology, By Plato s Apology I know, I do not know, are the words that constitute Socrates philosophy that The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing. In Apology, written by Plato, this ethical belief makes a bold appearance demonstrating that true ignorance only revolves around those who think that they know everything. In Apology, Socrateslearns that the wisest men are those who do not think of themselves of wise, and rather make an approach of going beyond an authentic method of inquiry and helping others seek their personal philosophies which may result in conflict. In Platos Apology, Socrates demonstrates that introspection is the key to living life with purpose. Socrates knowing himself, held in certain that he had no wisdom small or great (Plato, trans. 1871). Upon hearing the prophecy about him from the Oracle of Delphi asserting that there was no man wiser than him in all of Athens, he became puzzled (Plato, trans. 1871). In response to the message about him from the Oracle of Delphi, Socrates felt obliged to disprove this statement by seeking a wiser man, and once found he would refute the prophecy by affirming to God Here is a man who is wiser than I am; but you said that I was the wisest (Plato, trans. 1871). Socrates embarked on a search for men with the reputation of wisdom. First, he interrogated a politician, then the poets, and then artisans. While questioning the politician, he found that although he was thought wise by many, and wiser still ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
