Figurative Language In Animal, Vegetable, Miracle, By...
Do you know what is in the food that you are fueling your body with? Eating locally grown food or
growing your own food allows you to know exactly what is in your food and where it is coming from.
Award winning author Barbara Kingsolver ditched her urban life full of pesticides and GMOs, and
uprooted her family to a farm where they were going to eat all home or locally grown food for a year.
The Kingsolver family documented this one year food journey in their non fiction book, Animal,
Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. Barbara Kingsolver wants to educate, persuade, and inspire
her readers to live healthier lives by first forcing them to question the food they are consuming. She

On page 4, Kingsolver asks, Oh, America the Beautiful, where are our standards? How did Europeans
somehow hoard the market share of Beautiful? Kingsolver asks this in regard to the fact that most
Americans are willing to drink mystery water that cankill fish. Throughout Animal, Vegetable Miracle
Kingsolver criticizes Americans as a way to get them to rethink their unhealthy habits. On page 17,
Kingsolver asks, can we find or make up a set of rituals, recipes, ethics, and buying habits that will let
us love our food and eat it too? This question is another criticism of the American food system.
Americans are exporting so much food to different countries while importing the same items. This
doesn t give power to the local farmers, it just increases the food monopolies held by other

St Joseph High School Research Paper
For 100 years, Saint Joseph High School has provided highly respected education and has taught the
teachings of Jesus. There are many reasons in which a person would like to attend this school, but the
primary three reasons that I would like to attend Saint Joseph s are abundant academic opportunities,
to grow in my faith, and to make relationships that will last forever. Saint Joseph High School offers
many academic opportunities to their students. Students are given the chance to become student
ambassadors, and members of STAFF. These are great yet important responsibilities that I would be
very interested in participating. Students are also given the possibility to take languages that many
schools do not offer, and the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

I would like to grow in my faith at Saint Joseph High School, and really learn what it means to be
Catholic. In Saint Joe s, I would like to progress in my Spiritual journey, and learn more and more
about Jesus Christ. During my time at Saint Joe s, one of my main goals is to make relationships with
my future classmates that will last forever. As I have heard from my siblings who currently attend
Saint Joseph s, the environment at Saint Joe s is very close knit. I would like to be a part of that close
knit environment, and make friends that I will keep in touch with throughout college, and throughout
life. In Saint Joe s I aspire to make bonds with people from many different schools, and meet all the
great people at Saint Joseph High School. After the X plorathon activity that my class was able to
partake in, I found myself anxious to attend Saint Joseph s. All the high schoolers that I met were very
kind and helpful in all the activities we participated in, and I really enjoyed the classes that we were

Slavery in the Caribbean Essay
Slavery in the Caribbean
The beginning of slavery in the Caribbean can be traced back to the emergence of piracy in the 16th
and 17th centuries. This eventually led to the promotion of slave trading and sugar plantations. While
enslaved on the sugar plantations, slaves were treated very poorly. Plantation owners treated their
slaves so poorly that most were undernourished and diseased. Slaves were even forced to work on
their spare time to provide for their own needs. Needless to say, slaves encountered cruel punishment
that we can t even comprehend. The slaves however, continually resisted white supremacy causing
much tension between the two social classes. Despite this, a new social class was emerging, the free
coloureds. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In addition, slaves had to produce for themselves. Plantation owners were quite interested in reducing
cost and they did so at the expense of many slaves. They overworked slaves tremendously and even
made them produce their own foods to cut down on export expenditures. However, slaves had to do
this in their own free time which was on Saturdays. Quite disgruntled, slaves had to work everyday,
and on their day of rest, they were forced to work extra hard to produce for themselves. The planters
perceived it in their interests to spend as little money, time, or energy as possible on slave maintenance
(Tomich, 304).
Disease and malnutrition led to a declining slave population. Malnutrition played a crucial role in
preventing slave societies from continuously getting bigger. Coming from Africa, most of these slaves
were exposed to the tsetse fly and therefore, seldom did they eat meats. Milk was consequently
excluded from their daily diets and this might be why there is much lactose intolerance among African
descendants. This left slaves with minimal options in what they ate. In addition, not only did food
availability fluctuate seasonally, but slaves experienced long periods of hunger during and after
hurricanes, droughts and war (Beckles, 172). One can conclude that because they could only eat maize
and a few other foods, slaves were deficient in the necessary vitamins and minerals. These
deficiencies would in turn

The Human Genome Project ( Hgp )
In 2000, the $3 billion dollar project The Human Genome Project (HGP) came to completion.
Geneticists can now provide a patient with a comprehensive map of their DNA sequence. Obtaining
such information can tell a patient if they have the gene variant associated with many different
genetically linked diseases such as Alzheimer s, diabetes, heart conditions or even cancer. This
medical revolution can indicate what drugs to take, at what dosage and what lifestyle choices can be
made in order to prevent the disease or at the least, control the symptoms at the earliest stages as
possible. However, this new diagnostic tool has raised some ethical issues: Will your privacy be
protected? Will insurance companies pressure you into getting your ... Show more content on

However, a percentage of the Human Genome Project budget was devoted to the Ethical, Legal, and
Social Implications (ELSI) research. This program was founded to identify and address issues raised
by genomic research, including conflicts of interest affecting all the concerned parties. These issues
also include worries about insurers using genetic information to impose high premiums and deny
coverage or companies refusing employment opportunities. Yet with new technology comes new laws;
for example, in the United States, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act was passed on May
21st 2008[1]. As the name implies, this law prohibits employers and health insurance companies from
using genetic information, protecting citizens from discrimination based on their predisposition to
developing a genetic disorder. If DNA sequencing were to become standard medical procedure, such
laws will have to be enacted in order to protect the patient s rights.
In the process of developing the Human Genome Project, multiple gene expression based cancer
markers were identified. Furthermore, geneticists began to note that cancer pathologies are most often
not restricted to one single genomic mutation. On the contrary, a large number of different alterations
in a patient s DNA come together and cause the malignant transformation. The combination of
mutations, structural variations and

The Pros And Cons Of Child Slavery
Across the globe, millions of children different ages work extremely long hours in hazardous
conditions that prevent them from getting any type of education. It is harmful to their physical and
mental health and to their development as young children. Child slavery does not allow for children as
young as 5 to 15 years of age to receive fair treatment. My topic relates to groups of children that are
sold or bought into the child slavery industry. They receive unfair treatment by being forced to work
long, agonizing hours that no child should be working. They are not able to go to school and develop
normal skills a child their age should be getting. Children that are forced into child labor aren t ready

raises awareness by selling slave free products. Their goal is to engage everyone in the fight against all

Analyzing Costco Logistics
Costco performs a number of tasks in each primary value chain activity. For inbound logistics Costco
performs tasks relating to quality control, receiving shipments of products, controlling raw materials,
and schedule supply shipments. An example is Costco choosing what products to receive and sell to
their customers. Costco wants to sell quality goods, so it is inbound logistics jobs to choose what
products to sell. They also help schedule when Costco stores should receive more shipments of
products, and watching over the raw materials that go into the business. For operations, Costco s in
charge of managing their store brand Kirkland Signature. Since they have domain over that brand,
they are better able to control the caliber of their product. They also maintain the packaging assembly
line in order to accomplish the goal of having an efficient shipment arrangements, and low shrinkage
rates. This way Costco can have low rates for quality goods. By keeping their operational costs low
they can continue to pass the savings onto their customers. When it comes to outbound logistics
Costco s task is delivery, invoicing, handling finished goods and orders. The way Costco handles all
theses various tasks is mostly through assorted distribution and transporting methods. Costco can
accomplish their outbound logistics by having a well thought out inventory method. This inventory
method lets Costco markets hold up to two full weeks of supplies. Usually the supplies are

The Bell Curve
Today, current events in the United States are mired with complex topics and simple answers. Often
times articles present information in biased ways, or make completely inaccurate statements in order
to emphasize an opinion. This often avoids addressing an issue with a serious discussion of the
empirical data and known information on the topic. One specific topic in which data and studies are
often presented carelessly or often misinterpreted is in the subject of IQ. According to one of the
authors of a controversial book The Bell Curve, Charles Murray says; There s a dirty little secret that
we try to expose in the book which is that the conventional wisdom in the media about IQ tests and

One of the final points made in The Bell Curve is that by acknowledging IQ as a factor that exists,
social policy and decisions made at the macro level can better be tailored to the needs of groups. To
prevent a cognitive elite from isolating itself from the rest of society, the book offers a solution in
which differences in abilities are recognized, and each individual can have a valued place(1). The bell
Curve unsurprisingly is disregarded by many that fear utilizing IQ could have severely negative
effects on society s views and treatments of minority groups or historically oppressed groups. The
book is often described as a racist and bigoted book that tells its readers to treat groups with
significantly different IQ differently (2). While both sides can make a strong case for the value of IQ
in modern day society, without an understanding of the experiments and design structure of the tests
used to collect data on the subject, both arguments should seem unconvincing. Arguing about IQ is a
very sensitive subject, and to be able to do so in a beneficial way the arguments used to discuss the
topic should utilize an understanding of principals learned in CBE

Analysis on the Standard of Living in the Industrial Revolution Debate
Before the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain s economy relied heavily on agriculture, which at that
point of time was based a flawed system dating back to the Middle Ages. This system, known as the
open field system, showed agricultural inefficiencies, and was disallowing of innovation. These
inefficiencies eventually led to the privatization of land for agriculture, in an effort to solve what is
now commonly referred to as the tragedy of the commons . Great Britain was now moving forward,
and as the country (and continent) began enclosing their land, Britain began a period of
modernization, with new technologies that would increase productivity in industry to a level never
before seen. This is the period commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution, and was an era of
unprecedented growth in industry from the middle of the 18th century until around the middle of the
19th century. In 1760, 53% of the British population worked in agriculture. By 1840, that had dropped
to 29%. The evolution from water and wind power to steam engines, as well as the creation of many
pieces of machinery for the textile industry (such as the Spinning Jenny, which reduced the production
time on yarn) vastly improved British manufacturing of goods, and the reliance on agriculture
continued to drop. The development from an agricultural focus

Not So Perfect Pancake Essay
Not So Perfect Pancake
The form of the pancake my mother made for me every morning was always unpredictable.
Sometimes, they would come out perfectly, smooth and round with sprinkles of love blended in. Other
times, they would be mushy, uneven shapes that seemed to pile onto the plate. It was just like life,
sometimes things would go as planned without any wrinkles, smooth, and other times I would need a
steamy iron to get rid of the bunching wrinkles. Overall though, the pancakes symbolized my mother s
loyalty to me and served as a bonding tool.
Waking up at 6:00 was never something I enjoyed. In fact, it was more of a wrestling match between
my alarm clock and me. Staggering out of bed, I would somehow manage to drag myself ... Show

Often though, my mother would have to put the pancake on a paper plate for me to eat en route to
school. As I would shovel the pieces into my mouth, trying to keep my car on the right side of the
yellow line, I would think of how lucky I was to have a mom that would wake up so early just to make
me a pancake to suppress my hunger and start my day off right . Coming down the stairs in her pink
flannel nightgown, her blond hair all twirled into one matted mess, and her normally sparkling blue
eyes glued shut with sleepers , I knew it wasn t because she was a morning person. Waking up was
obviously just as much of a struggle for her as it was for me. So then, I would often wonder, why did
she get up? What was forcing her out of bed an hour and a half early every weekday? One day, I found
out.
Although I was picky about the food I ate, eating was still something I always enjoyed. I loved green
mint chocolate chip ice cream, chips and salsa (only the fresh, spicy kind), and especially my
grandmother s sweet candy potatoes. Never did I worry about my weight. I was an athletic
cheerleader, so the need to watch what I ate never arose. My blue and gold cheerleading skirt
consistently fit the same way, snug on my waist and bumping out over what my mom nicknamed The
Butt .
However, when a family trauma occurred, food turned from my body s favorite friend into a deadly,
lethal weapon.

My First Love Is Doing Business
My first love was doing business. With my family operating a restaurant when I was a child, I
unconsciously learned how to run an operation and deal with customers within the business
surroundings. It would be easy to trace its origins back to my mother, who was a restaurant manager,
and while she definitely encouraged me, I had a natural drive to unlock the power of doing business,
which gave me a lens through which to view the world around me. During the summer of my junior
year in high school, I hosted my first charity bazaar, a charity sale for self customized T shirts for a
local orphanage that sponsored by my high school. Given much advance publicity, I did well at the
sale, making over $100 in an hour. That accomplishment made me realize my passion toward
marketing and motivated me to pursue a Bachelor degree in Business Management during my
undergraduate studies.
When I enrolled at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), marketing was my core interest: it has
provided numerous opportunities for hands on experience from class projects, such as predictive
analytics with software like SPSS and Tableau, and strategic case analysis with marketing tools like
SWOT and Porter s five force. In addition, with my supporting minor in psychology, I also gain a
psychological perspective and deeply understand how customers are attracted to, and persuaded to,
purchase merchandise as well as how companies build lasting relationships with those customers.

Dog is Man s Best Friend Essay
BAM! Dogs, now a man s best friend. The most common pet, thanks to wolves. Now let s go
way back in time before dogs existed. Now, wolves gradually evolved into dogs. A wolf and a dog
are the same species. They also have the same DNA. Hunting dogs are more related to wolves.
Some people long ago tried to breed dogs by changing their features. For example, a doberman
pinscher got most of its tail cut off. Now they have such small tails! A corgi has a natural tail. A great
dane has surgically cut ears so that they are standing up. A scottish terrier looks like it has a beard but
its just that the hair on its neck got shaved off.
After the common breeds got created, the owners gave the dogs jobs according to their qualities. ...

Since mixed breed s parents are different breeds, the child has
new traits and characteristics. Most people who want a dog prefer mixes because they have health
advantages. But they also need lots of treatment. Mixes are less likely to many diseases than pure
breeds. People who find energetic mixes even leave the dog as rescue dogs. Before the 1980s mixes
were thought as strange and incapable of obeying and controlling themselves. They were left out of
obedience competitions. So in that case, mixes usually didn t compete. Mix breeds are hard to classify
since they are made of two breeds. Also, their maturity is less predictable than the pure breeds. But
mix
mixed breeds also have a higher intelligence average than pure breeds. Also a higher intelligence
capacity than pure breeds. That s why they can learn tricks so easily. Mixes are also preferred because
they are healthier and more long lived than pure breed dogs. Mixes are also preferable because they
have desirable reproduction traits. One of them is that a mother that is a mix gives better milk and the
second is that they gives better care. Mixes have very unique looks and characteristics. People who
want dogs prefer mixed breeds for the reasons I stated before.
Pure breeds are very nice and elegant to look at. Both of their parents are the same breed. Pure
breeds are very good at hunting, herding, and being working dogs (such as pulling sleds). Pure breeds

Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay
I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s
likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth
offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the distinct
root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social factor of
education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through looking at
youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are inextricably
linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth crime levels due
to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the labour market.
Methodology:
In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me with
significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources through
library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet to access
online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that encompassed the social
and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found many websites that had
information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency.
Findings:

it would eliminate false accusations. More than 2,000 people have been exonerated of serious crimes

Essay on Doppelganger and King Kong English Speech
Introduction:
Good morning/afternoon class and *teacher*, today I will be speaking about how Michael Parker, the
author of Doppelganger and Peter Jackson, the director of the film King Kong, accurately portray the
main concept of the Beast Within through the symbolism of masks and the notions of betrayal and
duplicity. I will be talking about Josh and Andrew from Doppelganger, Carl Denham and the people
that he manipulated and affected through his deception, from King Kong and explain their
contributions to the main idea of the Beast Within, how they wear a mask and how they portray the
concepts of Duplicity and Betrayal.

The fact that Josh gave Andrew the QZ45 meant that there is now a whole new series of events that
affect the storyline; Andrew ends up killing boy because the QZ45 has a mental and physical effect,
where the taker feels ready to fight or kill . In this case, boy makes Andrew angry, by slashing him
with a knife during the chase in the tunnels, and Andrew goes on a crazy rampage and kills boy.
Andrew soon becomes very guilty that he killed boy because he realises that in the normal Sydney boy
is a kid named Derek, who dies in a car crash, which makes Andrew logically believe that if one
person is killed in the Dystopic Sydney, this same happening will reflect in a slightly different manner,
in the normal Sydney. Josh also demonstrates the concept of the Beast Within through the plain evil of
what he did to Andrew, the evil intentions of Josh were the reason why he did it, it wasn t to save
anyone s life, like Andrew ends up doing later on in the text, but it was all part of Josh s scheme to
become the owner of the metsin factory so that he could become the richest and most famous person
in the Dystopic Sydney, he was willing to kill many people to get his desire and he managed to get a
whole gang of hallboys to listen to him and do it.

Trends in the Industry of IT and the Business Cycles Essay
The name information technology was used for the first time in 1958, in an article in Harvard
Business Review and since that time this industry has seen only innovations throughout the history.
Some problems that the industry is facing are the increase competition from the offshore and inshore
players, the slow growth of the hardware sales, the decrease in the IT spending globally etc. But
despite all the problems and challenges that the industry is facing, the opportunities are many. One of
the most important ones is the increased number of the smart device users which is established as a
very profitable segment for the information technology segment.

The slowdown in the IT spending globally
According to information technology industry estimates, global IT spending growth has been 2%
which is smaller than the previous forecast of 4.1% for 2013. The decrease in the IT spending by
enterprises as the cut on capital expenditure is due to economic uncertainties prevailing globally
which could negatively impact the IBM s revenue growth.
Competition from offshore players
The competition from offshore players has been increasing in recently. Offshore IT outsourcers are
selling directly to the end users and in this way they compete directly with the local suppliers of these
services such as IBM. This phenomenon creates a highly competitive industry which makes
companies to continually search for ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors.
SlowGrowth in the hardware segment
One of the main problems is the slow growth in the hardware segment. IBM sales growth has been flat
in the last quarters because the company has been unable to successfully close new multimillion
dollars hardware and software deals in the last year because of the bad economic conditions. The
hardware sales have been declining because different firms prefer moving to cloud services which run
largely on low cost hardware often custom build for cloud architectures. IBMs revenues from servers
and hardware have been decreasing a lot. Even though IBM moved to a new high value area such as

Difference Between Rulemaking And Adjudication
In 1946 Congress enacted the Administrative Procedure Act (APA) to provide minimum standards for
federal agencies (Szypszak, 2011). Szypszak (2011) further states that the APA addressed the
fundamental aspects of agency rulemaking and adjudication. APA authorizes two basic forms of
administrative action: rulemaking and adjudication. Rulemaking is a quasi legislative function that
sets standards for future application (Ferguson, 2006). According to Vago (2015) administrative
rulemaking is the single most important function carried out by a government agency. He states that it
is the establishment of prospective rules. Rulemaking is the process for formulating policy for the

Adjudication is the administrative equivalent of a judicial trial. Under adjudication, individual cases
are heard by law judges within agencies and a body of rules is developed (Kettl, 2015). Adjudication
differs from rulemaking in that it applies only to a specific, limited number of parties involved in an
individual case before the agency (Vago, 2015). The Administrative Procedure Act (APA) separates
adjudication from rulemaking by stating that adjudication is an agency process for the formulation of
an order and an order is a final disposition in a matter other than rulemaking. There is formal and
informal adjudication. Formal adjudication involves some kind of hearing, whereas informal
adjudication takes place in settings that are non confrontational and often not even face to face and is
undertaken by non hearing deciders (Cane, 2009). Adjudications can take many forms, but generally
can be grouped into law enforcement adjudications (such as those conducted by the Federal Trade
Commission) benefits adjudications (such as those conducted by the Social Security Administration)
and licensing and permit adjudications (such as those conducted by the Environmental Protection
Agency) (Forte and Spalding,

The Quality Of Life In Urban And Rural Life
Urban areas are the human settlement with high population and well established infrastructure. People
who live in urban areas are mostly involved in commerce and trading activities. However, urban areas
are not confined to cities only, but also includes the suburbs areas. On the other side, rural areas are
region situated on the outskirts. There are open space and natural vegetation. Residents practice
agriculture and animal husbandry and use it as a source of income. Many people and families raise
questions on the benefits that one acquires by choosing to live in either urban or rural settlement
(Lucas 31). Quality of life is essential when comparing both urban and rural life. Even though both
locations are best to live, it is crucial to evaluate the similarity and differences between two places.
Various factors such as the diversity, employment opportunities, health, and capacity to make broad
choices influence one decision while comparing urban and rural life. Even though life in both urban
and rural areas offers great benefits, there are some drawbacks in both lives. Both positive and
negative factors determine the quality of life in urban centers. To start with, people living in cities
have a variety of choices to make regarding their everyday lives. For example, residents in urban areas
have access to the various types of food which results in improved health. Additionally, different types

care. People nowadays don t have enough money to pay for health care or child care. Now we are still
struggling with trying to not be bankrupted and keeping kids in schools without the pursuits. The poor

The amount of waste that s produced by the lack of concern for the environment is huge. We as
Americans don t see it as a total problem because we re doing different things that we don t pay
attention to. We as people need to learn the concept of not wasting anything to harm the people and
other things around us.
Being Americans, we, get choices rather than having to be told how to live. We get to choose our
schools, churches, religions, careers, etc. We don t have to be slaves in the 1800 s. We get to do
whatever we desire and get to do whatever we want without anybody telling us what to do. As
Americans, we, get to live in whatever way we need to in order to be successful in ways nobody can
imagine.
Today in order to go to college most kids have to take out student loans in order to get a degree. But
paying off those loans before you do becomes a greater achievement.
We might not have the money to go to college and then become poor or having a rich life. We shouldn
t have to pay thousands of dollars to go to college or the poor don t have enough, why do they still
have to get the money? We should get in with no charge no matter

The Pros And Cons Of Heterosexuality
We are socialized to assumed heterosexuality is normal because it is all around us. Most of us are born
into a heterosexual, mom and dad relationship. As we grow up looking up to them it becomes normal
to see heterosexuality. Throughout my upbringing, my parents did not talk about homosexuality much.
All of my family members throughout at least the first two generations identify as straight, so it was
not something I grew up being around. Therefore it was never talked about in a positive or negative
way. In biology class and church we are taught that we are on this earth to reproduce and contribute to
the renewal of civilization. To do this the normal way you would get married and heterosexually
reproduce. It is taught that the only natural way to have sex is inserting a penis into a vagina.
Institutions reinforce this by continuing to teach children throughout their education that man and
woman are the normal thing. This belief came from the fact that a female egg cannot turn into a fetus
unless it is fertilized by a male sperm. The cycle of heterosexual socialization promotes heterosexism
because it is promoted as the right thing to do throughout all forms of media and teachings. When all
you see as a positive thing growing up is heterosexual, married couples with biological kids you are
conformed to think that is the only way to find happiness. Heteronormative socialization excludes
many different types of people such as couples who cannot conceive their own

Personal Narrative-Outward Bound
I stared into the dark murky lake. The black waters rippled, revealing plastic bags, soda cans, and
orange peels. The stench wafted up to my nose even when standing fifty feet above. I peered below
and shivered involuntarily due to the icy wind hitting me like a ton of bricks. Tightening my grip on
the rails, I leaned back to control my shaking. Voices surrounded me, encouraging me to jump. But I
was transfixed on what s below. Taking a deep breath, I took one step forward. It was the second
semester of sixth grade. Our teacher had decided to take our class on a camping trip to a remote site

How Did St Paul Influence Religion
Saint Paul is one of the most influential people in the Catholic Church to date, as he is one of the
leaders of the first generation of Christians, he has travelled countless of miles for his missionaries,
and he has converted thousands upon thousands of people into Christians; that is just the beginning. It
all started where St Paul came from: Tarsus, a major city in eastern Cilicia now known as eastern¬
Turkey, his trade was tent making, which he continued to practice after his conversion to Christianity.
Paul ¬¬¬spent much of the first half of his life persecuting the Christians, as he was born into a
wealthy, well educated, and Jewish family with strong beliefs of Judaism inducing him to do so.
Before all this, he was known as Saul, the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A missionary is someone who believes fully in a religion and who wishes to spread their religion to
new countries and regions, they are dedicated completely to their religion and do not waver from what
their God wants. This full pledge to God allowed St Paul to be known as one of the most influential
people in the Catholic Church, as well as writing many letters to individuals, communities and
churches about many things such as the Gospel, his newly found wisdom and the messages from God.
St Paul became a missionary to connect to God easier, and to teach people about God and convert
people into the Christian life. As Paul became a missionary, he furthered his understanding of God,
and furthered the understanding of God to other people, resulting in a large increase of Christian faith
and believers. St Paul wrote many letters to the public about God and how to broaden their faith of
God. An instance of one of St Paul s letters is Galatians. His purpose of writing this letter to Galatia,
was to make sure they were on the path of truth and not led off into deceiving the wrong thing about
God. This letter was written in an aggressive tone, showing just how important it was to him that the
people embrace unity in Christ. Another example of a writing of Paul is Ephesians. He talks about

Industrialization Causes Corruption in Businesses
No man can be a good citizen unless he has a wage more than sufficient to cover the bare cost of
living, and hours of labor short enough so that after his day s work is done he will have time and
energy to bear his share in the management of the community, to help in carrying the general load. We
keep countless men from being good citizens by the conditions of life with which we surround them.
We need comprehensive workmen s compensation acts, both State and national laws to regulate child
labor and work for women, said 26th president of United States Theodore Roosevelt as he was
explaining how industrialization had ruined people s lives ( Colby 515). Industrialization is defined as
the large scale introduction of manufacturing, advanced technical enterprises, and other productive
economic activity into a society. Industrialization is a huge aspect of society and especially in
America. After the American Civil War in 1861, a lot southern plantation owners were living in
poverty because they lost their land. Emancipated slaves were also living in poverty because most
them didn t have a job, but as industrialization grew in America, more people were attracted to the
cities up North. A lot of southerners and emancipated slaves traveled up North because of job
opportunities. But this proved to be a horrible mistake. These people were working in gruesome
conditions and were exploited. So the question is, what does industrialization do to a society?

between man and woman. There are different views of this relationship or marriage in these two tales:
either the woman has the power in the marriage granted from her husband, or the husband and wife

could have in a lifetime (20 23). The Wife of Bath goes on to say that God gave men and women

Professors Bergland s main point about the 1880 1920 s was the fascination and exploration with
nature and death. In the poems that Professor Bergland showed us, Emily Dickson wrote about nature
and her thoughts on how nature affected the world and science. My understand of the period from
1880 to1920 was that education was not mandatory for females. When females attended college, they
were taught science and math because it did not have a role in society. Males on the other hand
learned literature and politics because they would go on to graduate and have an active and high role
in society. At the college Dickson attended, Mount Holyoke, religion was heavily stressed. Not many

The Ethics Of Physician Assisted Suicide
According to Mirror News, In October of 2014 a women named Charlotte Fitzmaurice Wise was
watching her daughter Nancy Fitzmaurice suffer from pain. She was born with Hydrocephalus and
septicaemia which made it impossible for her to walk, talk, eat or drink. She required around the clock
care and was fed through tubes. As time went on her health worsened and she would scream in pain
even though she was injected with morphine. Wise believed that her daughter was in excruciating pain
and deserved to be at peace. Wise submitted an application to end her daughter s misery, and soon her
application would be approved. She was able to relieve her daughter from pain, and made it legal in
the United Kingdom for a parent to end their critically ill child s life if they are disable and can t speak
for themselves.
People have been questioning the ethics of physician assisted suicide since the late 18th century.
According to medicinenet the definition of physician assisted suicide is the voluntary termination of
one s own life by administrating a lethal substance with the direct assistance of a physician. This
would typically come into play if/when a critically ill patient wants to end their suffering. Confirming
with the State by State Guide to Physician Assisted Suicide, 5 states have

Legalized physician assisted suicide. California, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington have made it legal
by legislation, and Maine has made it legal by a court ruling. The remaining 45 states

Racism In America Essay
I choose the topic Racism in today s society because it is a topic that dramatically effects our way of
living. I believe racism is not something that not only affects certain people, racism affects everyone.
My position on the topic of racism is that it s a negative faction in our society that results in death of
blacks and other minority groups.
The importance of racism in America.
Racism in the U.S. is important and should be know because it is an important part in our history that
shaped America. People are not born racist, people who are racist were usually raised in an
atmosphere that embraced it. Racism is a negative faction in our society that affects you and everyone

corner it leads to people questioning their safety in a government that may have racist authorities who
can misuse their power.

Business Opportunities, Challenges, And Trends Essay
4. Discuss the business opportunities, challenges, and trends prevailing in the Indian ecommerce
market.
The business opportunity for eBay as of right now is not great although there is a lot of potential
growth in the future. In 2014, the Indian ecommerce industry showed a tremendous growth. This
growth is driven by the rapid adoption of technology such as smartphones and tablets (ecommerce in
India Accelerating growth, 2015). There are opportunities for eBay to expand its market and invest
more in the future. But there are also their competitions that they need to worry about. A company like
Amazon is a well known international online shopping superstore where you can buy almost
everything. There are Flipkart and Snapdeal that started their online store in India. eBay is losing its
battle with their competition. For example, eBay Inc. pumped in about `650 crore into the India
business last year. In comparison, Flipkart raised about $1.4 billion from institutional investors in the
last 13 months, while Snapdeal mopped up $1.1 billion in about the same time. Amazon also
announced in that the company will pump in $2 billion into India. Amazon has infused `2,437 crore

Summary Of John Searle s Chinese Room Argument
In the Chinese room argument presented by John Searle, he argues that programs are not minds.
Premises that Searle gives for this claim is that programs are entirely formal (syntactical) and mind
have semantic. Syntax by itself is neither constitutive of nor sufficient for semantics. In this paper, I
will argue that Searle s argument is misleading us, because Searle s claim is based on that
understanding (mind) occurs if and only if computer knows human language semantic. Searle s

Study of the Mobility and Fall Risks of Elderly Subject...
GOALS AND SUMMARY
The goal of the study was to evaluate and analyze the mobility and fall risks of the elderly subjects.
Precisely, the main objective of the study was to evaluate the decremental effects of aging on a novel
index of mobility, i.e., dynamic stability, and fall risk in an elderly population, and to test for
correlation of vitamin D levels with fall risk and mobility related outcomes (i.e., dynamic stability,
strength, gait parameters, and physical activity).
Mortalities from fall accidents are steadily on the rise for the elderly. In this study, the cause of the fall
risk will be inferred by analyzing the relationship between Vitamin D statuses (deficiency) and how it
relates to mobility and fall risk related outcomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In most subjects, sun exposure is the primary determinant of vitamin D status, accounting for 80 90%
of the vitamin D body stores. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is synthesized in the skin and found in
fatty fish and mammals, whereas ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) comes from yeasts and plants. Vitamin D
supplements may contain either vitamin D2 or D3. Previously, the two vitamin D metabolites were
considered to have an equal potency, but recent studies have suggested that vitamin D2 may be
inferior to vitamin D3 in the treatment of vitamin D insufficiency [Romagnoli et al. 2008].
Moreover, there are few studies on the effects of vitamin D supplementation on muscle strength and
mobility in older people with low vitamin D status, although a recent study has suggested benefit on
mediolateral sway in participants who had large sway at baseline. Recent investigations have posited a
direct link between vitamin D and skeletal muscle, with a deficiency correlating with muscle atrophy,
decreased strength, functionality, and greater prevalence of falls and fractures. Moreover, this
deficiency is increasingly recognized as a worldwide epidemic [Cando et al. 2011; Holick 2007]
[Girgis et al. 2012] with more than a billion people worldwide deficient in vitamin D [Jannsen 2009].
Apropos to our investigation, only a few studies have objectively measured muscle strength
longitudinally in relation to vitamin D status (i.e., serum 25(OH)D levels) in elderly individuals

The Servant Labor System In Colonial America
During the seventeenth century, the colonists confronted poverty epidemic by creating the servant
labor system in which indentured servants and slaves provided labor work that directly and positively
affected the colonial economy. Although servants and slaves were the main source in keeping the
economic system of colonial America steady, they had such low social standings that Colonies and
masters had become accustomed to abusing and mistreating them. In addition, in 1669, a law had been
passed that enabled masters, free white men, to legally hunt and murder slaves if a rebellion were to
occur ( Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p. 3). This law, along with many more in
Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, allowed masters to remain dominant over servants and slaves which
historically is the root for the racial ideology of white supremacy and created countless racial equality
rebellions and movements. During this time, slaves were put up to be auctioned and once they were

Counseling And Life Coaching Summary
The book begins with analyzing the different aspects of counseling and life coaching, as life coaching
is not a professional position, which follows along with, it is not indicative to counselling. The author
expresses the idea of life coaching is to better someone s life with the concepts they have identified,
establishing guidelines/goals the client wants to improve upon or change in their lives (Nelson Jones,
2007) It continues to explain how important exchanging information is in life coaching. This applies
to the client and the life coach (Nelson Jones,2007).
Nelson Jones, (2007) describes four areas that help a new coach to use and expand on improving their
life coaching standards. They include relating, understanding, changing, and

Elephant Abuse
The abiotic factors that have been considered for the elephant enclosure are the size of the paddocks,
shade and shelters in the paddocks, potential areas for sleeping, and safe entrances for the elephant
keepers.
In this enclosure, altogether there will be three female elephants and two male elephants. There will be
two paddocks, and each gender will have their own designated paddock, however all elephants are
free to roam around. (http://www.elephants.com/females.php) Within each paddock will be one large
swimming pool. These will be used for drinking out of, and swimming in. Elephants drink up to 40
gallons of water per day, so there will need to be roughly 200 gallons minimum of drinking water
available each day. In addition, there will be one indoor barn situated between both paddocks for all
elephants to freely occupy. In line with the Association of Zoo and Aquarium (AZA) Standards for
Elephant Management and Care, the indoor ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This is because all elephants need plenty of space to roam around. They are made for inhabiting very
large spaces. They spend 80% of their day walking around and foraging for food. Therefore, a built
enclosure must be suitably large to tend to these needs. (http://www.elephantsincanada.com/animal
welfare) In addition, elephants enjoy swimming and playing with mud. Because of this, the enclosure
will require mud wallows, and deep water moats. They will also need shade structures,
Elephants sleep lying down. Researchers at San Diego Zoo s Institute for Conservation Research
tracked elephants using a GPS at night. They found that elephants had preferred sleeping places, for
example, an indoor barn or a dry water hole. (http://blogs.sandiegozoo.org/2009/06/17/sleeping

The Sabbath In Modern Christianity
The Sabbath is nearly forgotten and rarely observed in modern Christianity. Furthermore most don t
connect the lack of Sabbath observance to modern issues including the sense of being over worked,
over scheduled, and even over stimulated as Christians. Brueggemann explains the Sabbath was
created and established by God create for man to resist the constant inward pull toward the prevailing
values of the day (Brueggemann, 2016). Yet, the prevailing values and cultures seem to be winning for
most Christians. Scazzero explains the Sabbath observes comes from our core, our true sense of
spirituality, and isn t a suggestion, but in fact a command of God (Scazzero, 2006).
Unfortunately, I like most Christians, have suffered the same fate. Not only as a Christian person, but
as I pastor, I have regularly ignored the need for a Sabbath s rest and have suffered for it. As Barton
explains, if Sabbath isn t observed, often our illnesses become our Sabbath (Barton, 2015). These
words resonate deep within my own soul. Early in my ministry career while serving as Church plant
pastor and teaching pastor at a large Nazarene Church I hit an emotional and spiritual rock bottom. My
ministry suffered, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I am unable to commit one full 24 hour period toward these disciplines but each week, I spend one
morning block focusing on these habits. Many Monday I have spent fishing, golfing, or even walking
through the woods in time of quiet reflection. I always do things in solitude. The earlier in the
morning I often find it better to find solitude and time to be alone in prayer. When I return I nap, rest
as my body needs, and spend extended time in journaling, and personal study. I often spend time with
my family days that my kids are home from school. We ride bikes, play together and spend intentional

Political Parties And Its Influence On The Political Party
Since the founding of our country and the government we live by, political parties have been present.
These parties have had many influences on our government from their formation. Some of these
influences that the parties have had were good, other were bad. Within our modern government,
parties, have become a major impact and have had much influence. These parties are present to push
their agendas and accomplish what they can through their influence on the government. The affect that
these parties have had on our government can be seen through their influence on the three branches of
government; the Executive branch, the Legislative branch, and the Judicial Branch. Political parties
have a massive influence on the Executive branch, or the president. The two party political system is
the fore ground of our modern presidential elections. This system determines the two major candidates
that the country ultimately chooses from for the presidency, either Republican or Democrat. As the
American Government textbook states the political parties kept a tight control on the selection of a
candidate (Krutz 454). This excerpt from the American Government textbook shows that the influence
the party system has on the Executive branch is so great that it goes as far as to choose the candidates
that the country gets to vote for. The party chooses the candidates for the presidential election by
holding primary elections where multiple people are put out for the states to vote, the

Ideas Revealed Within My Last Duchess
Ideas Revealed within My Last Duchess In Robert Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the author
writes of a Duke who seems to admit to murdering his last duchess. The poem starts with the Duke
introducing the painting of his last duchess to an emissary. He goes on to claim that she was unfaithful
and believes that she was flirting with the artist of her portrait. The Duke insists that he should be the
only one that has her attention. Throughout the poem, the Duke s ego is revealed and he implies that
he executed his own wife (Browning 1016 1017). My Last Duchess is filled with ambiguous claims
which calls the reader to examine every possibility. This is difficult considering there is only one
speaker, the Duke, in the poem. The three things that are discovered when a reader dives deeper into
Browning s poem, My Last Duchess , are the dysfunction of the Duke and Duchess relationship, the
reason for the Duke s vanity, and the misrepresented Duchess. Throughout the poem, many hints and
clues are given that show dysfunction in the Duke s and Duchess relationship. The Duke and Duchess
have a failing relationship because of childlessness and lack of communication (Hawlin 146).
Browning s Duke is based off of the real Duke of Ferrara who never had any children (Gardner Duke
169). Not only as a man but as a duke with a age old family name, not providing an heir would be
shaming. If the Duchess is fooling around , Gardner claims that the Duke reveals his impotence

Eating locally grown food or growing your own food allows you to know exactly what is in your food and where it is coming from. Award winning author Barbara Kingsolver ditched her urban life full of pesticides and GMOs, and uprooted her family to a farm where they were going to eat all home or locally grown food for a year. The Kingsolver family documented this one year food journey in their non fiction book, Animal, Vegetable, Miracle: A Year of Food Life. This eventually led to the promotion of slave trading and sugar plantations. While enslaved on the sugar plantations, slaves were treated very poorly. Plantation owners treated their slaves so poorly that most were undernourished and diseased. Slaves were even forced to work on their spare time to provide for their own needs. Needless to say, slaves encountered cruel punishment that we can t even comprehend. The slaves however, continually resisted white supremacy causing much tension between the two social classes. Despite this, a new social class was emerging, the free coloureds. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In addition, slaves had to produce for themselves. Plantation owners were quite interested in reducing cost and they did so at the expense of many slaves. They overworked slaves tremendously and even made them produce their own foods to cut down on export expenditures. However, slaves had to do this in their own free time which was on Saturdays. Quite disgruntled, slaves had to work everyday, and on their day of rest, they were forced to work extra hard to produce for themselves. The planters perceived it in their interests to spend as little money, time, or energy as possible on slave maintenance (Tomich, 304). Disease and malnutrition led to a declining slave population. Malnutrition played a crucial role in preventing slave societies from continuously getting bigger. Coming from Africa, most of these slaves were exposed to the tsetse fly and therefore, seldom did they eat meats. Milk was consequently excluded from their daily diets and this might be why there is much lactose intolerance among African descendants. This left slaves with minimal options in what they ate. In addition, not only did food availability fluctuate seasonally, but slaves experienced long periods of hunger during and after hurricanes, droughts and war (Beckles, 172). One can conclude that because they could only eat maize and a few other foods, slaves were deficient in the necessary vitamins and minerals. These deficiencies would in turn ... Geneticists can now provide a patient with a comprehensive map of their DNA sequence. Obtaining such information can tell a patient if they have the gene variant associated with many different genetically linked diseases such as Alzheimer s, diabetes, heart conditions or even cancer. This medical revolution can indicate what drugs to take, at what dosage and what lifestyle choices can be made in order to prevent the disease or at the least, control the symptoms at the earliest stages as possible. However, a percentage of the Human Genome Project budget was devoted to the Ethical, Legal, and Social Implications (ELSI) research. This program was founded to identify and address issues raised by genomic research, including conflicts of interest affecting all the concerned parties. These issues also include worries about insurers using genetic information to impose high premiums and deny coverage or companies refusing employment opportunities. Yet with new technology comes new laws; for example, in the United States, the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act was passed on May 21st 2008[1]. As the name implies, this law prohibits employers and health insurance companies from using genetic information, protecting citizens from discrimination based on their predisposition to developing a genetic disorder. If DNA sequencing were to become standard medical procedure, such laws will have to be enacted in order to protect the patient s rights. In the process of developing the Human Genome Project, multiple gene expression based cancer markers were identified. Furthermore, geneticists began to note that cancer pathologies are most often not restricted to one single genomic mutation. On the contrary, a large number of different alterations in a patient s DNA come together and cause the malignant transformation. The combination of mutations, structural variations and ... One specific topic in which data and studies are often presented carelessly or often misinterpreted is in the subject of IQ. According to one of the authors of a controversial book The Bell Curve, Charles Murray says; There s a dirty little secret that we try to expose in the book which is that the conventional wisdom in the media about IQ tests and what they measure and don t measure, and expert opinion, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the final points made in The Bell Curve is that by acknowledging IQ as a factor that exists, social policy and decisions made at the macro level can better be tailored to the needs of groups. To prevent a cognitive elite from isolating itself from the rest of society, the book offers a solution in which differences in abilities are recognized, and each individual can have a valued place(1). The bell Curve unsurprisingly is disregarded by many that fear utilizing IQ could have severely negative effects on society s views and treatments of minority groups or historically oppressed groups. The book is often described as a racist and bigoted book that tells its readers to treat groups with significantly different IQ differently (2). While both sides can make a strong case for the value of IQ in modern day society, without an understanding of the experiments and design structure of the tests used to collect data on the subject, both arguments should seem unconvincing. Arguing about IQ is a very sensitive subject, and to be able to do so in a beneficial way the arguments used to discuss the topic should utilize an understanding of principals learned in CBE ... • 9. The Standard Of Living During The Industrial Revolution... Henry Ziegler 10044371 Prof. Frank Lewis ECON 231 Thursday, November 20, 2014 Analysis on the Standard of Living in the Industrial Revolution Debate Before the Industrial Revolution, Great Britain s economy relied heavily on agriculture, which at that point of time was based a flawed system dating back to the Middle Ages. This system, known as the open field system, showed agricultural inefficiencies, and was disallowing of innovation. These inefficiencies eventually led to the privatization of land for agriculture, in an effort to solve what is now commonly referred to as the tragedy of the commons . Great Britain was now moving forward, and as the country (and continent) began enclosing their land, Britain began a period of modernization, with new technologies that would increase productivity in industry to a level never before seen. This is the period commonly referred to as the Industrial Revolution, and was an era of unprecedented growth in industry from the middle of the 18th century until around the middle of the 19th century. In 1760, 53% of the British population worked in agriculture. By 1840, that had dropped to 29%. The evolution from water and wind power to steam engines, as well as the creation of many pieces of machinery for the textile industry (such as the Spinning Jenny, which reduced the production time on yarn) vastly improved British manufacturing of goods, and the reliance on agriculture continued to drop. The development from an agricultural focus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Not So Perfect Pancake Essay Not So Perfect Pancake The form of the pancake my mother made for me every morning was always unpredictable. Sometimes, they would come out perfectly, smooth and round with sprinkles of love blended in. Other times, they would be mushy, uneven shapes that seemed to pile onto the plate. It was just like life, sometimes things would go as planned without any wrinkles, smooth, and other times I would need a steamy iron to get rid of the bunching wrinkles. Overall though, the pancakes symbolized my mother s loyalty to me and served as a bonding tool. Waking up at 6:00 was never something I enjoyed. Often though, my mother would have to put the pancake on a paper plate for me to eat en route to school. As I would shovel the pieces into my mouth, trying to keep my car on the right side of the yellow line, I would think of how lucky I was to have a mom that would wake up so early just to make me a pancake to suppress my hunger and start my day off right . Coming down the stairs in her pink flannel nightgown, her blond hair all twirled into one matted mess, and her normally sparkling blue eyes glued shut with sleepers , I knew it wasn t because she was a morning person. Waking up was obviously just as much of a struggle for her as it was for me. So then, I would often wonder, why did she get up? What was forcing her out of bed an hour and a half early every weekday? One day, I found out. Although I was picky about the food I ate, eating was still something I always enjoyed. I loved green mint chocolate chip ice cream, chips and salsa (only the fresh, spicy kind), and especially my grandmother s sweet candy potatoes. Never did I worry about my weight. I was an athletic cheerleader, so the need to watch what I ate never arose. My blue and gold cheerleading skirt consistently fit the same way, snug on my waist and bumping out over what my mom nicknamed The Butt . With my family operating a restaurant when I was a child, I unconsciously learned how to run an operation and deal with customers within the business surroundings. It would be easy to trace its origins back to my mother, who was a restaurant manager, and while she definitely encouraged me, I had a natural drive to unlock the power of doing business, which gave me a lens through which to view the world around me. During the summer of my junior year in high school, I hosted my first charity bazaar, a charity sale for self customized T shirts for a local orphanage that sponsored by my high school. Given much advance publicity, I did well at the sale, making over $100 in an hour. That accomplishment made me realize my passion toward marketing and motivated me to pursue a Bachelor degree in Business Management during my undergraduate studies. When I enrolled at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), marketing was my core interest: it has provided numerous opportunities for hands on experience from class projects, such as predictive analytics with software like SPSS and Tableau, and strategic case analysis with marketing tools like SWOT and Porter s five force. In addition, with my supporting minor in psychology, I also gain a psychological perspective and deeply understand how customers are attracted to, and persuaded to, purchase merchandise as well as how companies build lasting relationships with those customers. Social And Economical Factors On Youth Essay I have chosen to research into the social and economical factors that may influence a youth s likelihood to engage in delinquency as I believe that understanding the factors underpinning youth offending may help to reduce youth crime levels, as preventive measures can be aimed at the distinct root causes recognised. I have chosen to particularly look at the link between the social factor of education in terms of low school attainment and the wider effect on the economy through looking at youth unemployment and offending. I believe these social and economical factors are inextricably linked therefore I hypothesise that low school attainment leads to increases in youth crime levels due to youths not acquiring the necessary skills to allow a successful entrance to the labour market. Methodology: In carrying out this literature review I have engaged in secondary research in order to provide me with significant qualitative and quantitative data on this given topic. I collected a range of sources through library searches where I aimed to research previous studies through the use of the internet to access online resources, books and journals. Upon doing so I found a few books that encompassed the social and economical factors I specifically chose to review although I found many websites that had information on the social economical factors that may affect delinquency. Essay on Doppelganger and King Kong English Speech Introduction: Good morning/afternoon class and *teacher*, today I will be speaking about how Michael Parker, the author of Doppelganger and Peter Jackson, the director of the film King Kong, accurately portray the main concept of the Beast Within through the symbolism of masks and the notions of betrayal and duplicity. I will be talking about Josh and Andrew from Doppelganger, Carl Denham and the people that he manipulated and affected through his deception, from King Kong and explain their contributions to the main idea of the Beast Within, how they wear a mask and how they portray the concepts of Duplicity and Betrayal. Andrew soon becomes very guilty that he killed boy because he realises that in the normal Sydney boy is a kid named Derek, who dies in a car crash, which makes Andrew logically believe that if one person is killed in the Dystopic Sydney, this same happening will reflect in a slightly different manner, in the normal Sydney. The decrease in the IT spending by enterprises as the cut on capital expenditure is due to economic uncertainties prevailing globally which could negatively impact the IBM s revenue growth. Competition from offshore players The competition from offshore players has been increasing in recently. Offshore IT outsourcers are selling directly to the end users and in this way they compete directly with the local suppliers of these services such as IBM. This phenomenon creates a highly competitive industry which makes companies to continually search for ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors. Szypszak (2011) further states that the APA addressed the fundamental aspects of agency rulemaking and adjudication. APA authorizes two basic forms of administrative action: rulemaking and adjudication. Rulemaking is a quasi legislative function that sets standards for future application (Ferguson, 2006). Adjudication is the administrative equivalent of a judicial trial. Under adjudication, individual cases are heard by law judges within agencies and a body of rules is developed (Kettl, 2015). Adjudication differs from rulemaking in that it applies only to a specific, limited number of parties involved in an individual case before the agency (Vago, 2015). The Administrative Procedure Act (APA) separates adjudication from rulemaking by stating that adjudication is an agency process for the formulation of an order and an order is a final disposition in a matter other than rulemaking. There is formal and informal adjudication. Formal adjudication involves some kind of hearing, whereas informal adjudication takes place in settings that are non confrontational and often not even face to face and is undertaken by non hearing deciders (Cane, 2009). Adjudications can take many forms, but generally can be grouped into law enforcement adjudications (such as those conducted by the Federal Trade Commission) benefits adjudications (such as those conducted by the Social Security Administration) and licensing and permit adjudications (such as those conducted by the Environmental Protection Agency) (Forte and Spalding, ... In the poems that Professor Bergland showed us, Emily Dickson wrote about nature and her thoughts on how nature affected the world and science. My understand of the period from 1880 to1920 was that education was not mandatory for females. • 29. The Ethics Of Physician Assisted Suicide According to Mirror News, In October of 2014 a women named Charlotte Fitzmaurice Wise was watching her daughter Nancy Fitzmaurice suffer from pain. Precisely, the main objective of the study was to evaluate the decremental effects of aging on a novel index of mobility, i.e., dynamic stability, and fall risk in an elderly population, and to test for correlation of vitamin D levels with fall risk and mobility related outcomes (i.e., dynamic stability, strength, gait parameters, and physical activity). Mortalities from fall accidents are steadily on the rise for the elderly. In this study, the cause of the fall risk will be inferred by analyzing the relationship between Vitamin D statuses (deficiency) and how it relates to mobility and fall risk related outcomes ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In most subjects, sun exposure is the primary determinant of vitamin D status, accounting for 80 90% of the vitamin D body stores. Cholecalciferol (vitamin D3) is synthesized in the skin and found in fatty fish and mammals, whereas ergocalciferol (vitamin D2) comes from yeasts and plants. Vitamin D supplements may contain either vitamin D2 or D3. Previously, the two vitamin D metabolites were considered to have an equal potency, but recent studies have suggested that vitamin D2 may be inferior to vitamin D3 in the treatment of vitamin D insufficiency [Romagnoli et al. 2008]. Moreover, there are few studies on the effects of vitamin D supplementation on muscle strength and mobility in older people with low vitamin D status, although a recent study has suggested benefit on mediolateral sway in participants who had large sway at baseline. Recent investigations have posited a direct link between vitamin D and skeletal muscle, with a deficiency correlating with muscle atrophy, decreased strength, functionality, and greater prevalence of falls and fractures. Moreover, this deficiency is increasingly recognized as a worldwide epidemic [Cando et al. 2011; Holick 2007] [Girgis et al. 2012] with more than a billion people worldwide deficient in vitamin D [Jannsen 2009]. The Servant Labor System In Colonial America During the seventeenth century, the colonists confronted poverty epidemic by creating the servant labor system in which indentured servants and slaves provided labor work that directly and positively affected the colonial economy. Although servants and slaves were the main source in keeping the economic system of colonial America steady, they had such low social standings that Colonies and masters had become accustomed to abusing and mistreating them. In addition, in 1669, a law had been passed that enabled masters, free white men, to legally hunt and murder slaves if a rebellion were to occur ( Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, in Handout Set, p. 3). This law, along with many more in Virginia Servant and Slave Laws, allowed masters to remain dominant over servants and slaves which historically is the root for the racial ideology of white supremacy and created countless racial equality rebellions and movements. • 45. Ideas Revealed Within My Last Duchess Ideas Revealed within My Last Duchess In Robert Browning s poem, My Last Duchess, the author writes of a Duke who seems to admit to murdering his last duchess. The poem starts with the Duke introducing the painting of his last duchess to an emissary. He goes on to claim that she was unfaithful and believes that she was flirting with the artist of her portrait. The Duke insists that he should be the only one that has her attention. Throughout the poem, the Duke s ego is revealed and he implies that he executed his own wife (Browning 1016 1017). My Last Duchess is filled with ambiguous claims which calls the reader to examine every possibility. This is difficult considering there is only one speaker, the Duke, in the poem. The three things that are discovered when a reader dives deeper into Browning s poem, My Last Duchess , are the dysfunction of the Duke and Duchess relationship, the reason for the Duke s vanity, and the misrepresented Duchess. Throughout the poem, many hints and clues are given that show dysfunction in the Duke s and Duchess relationship.
