Ethnic Cleansing In The United States
Ethnicity is defined as an ethnic group; a social group that shares a common and distinctive
culture, religion, or language. There can be many different ethnic groups in each country. In
China alone there are 56 recognized ethnic groups. In the United States there are six recognized
ethnic groups. They are White American, Black or African American, Alaska Native or Native
American, Native Hawaiian, Asian American, or people of two or more races. The US census
also groups Americans into the category of Hispanic or Latino or Not Hispanic or Latino .
Ethnicities are located in different places depending on many factors, such as geography. For
example, there is a high population of Hispanics from Mexico in the southwestern part of the
country.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ethnic cleansing is defined as the systematic removal of ethnic or religious groups from a given
territory by a more powerful ethnic group, with the intent of making it ethnically homogenous.
This basically means, one ethnic groups removes another group to make a certain place s
population just their ethnic group. Ethnic cleansing can be carried out in many ways, such as
forced migration, intimidation, and mass murder. One of the most cruel and widespread
examples of this was the Holocaust. It was portrayed in the book The Diary of Anne Frank . In
1933, a man named Adolf Hitler was elected as chancellor of Germany. Germany was angry and
embarrassed from WW1, and they wanted someone to blame. Hitler gave them someone, the
jews. He blamed them for Germany s defeat. The Franks are the main focus of the book The
Diary of Anne Frank . After Hitler was elected the Franks started to notice the anger and hatred
around them, so they fled to Amsterdam. In 1940, Germany invaded The Netherlands and they
began to place restrictions on the jews. Anne Frank and her sister had to switch to an all jewish
school, they had to wear stars on their clothes, and they weren t allowed in certain places. In
1942 Anne s sister received a call up notice to be relocated to a work camp. Her father then
decide it was time to tell them about their hiding place. They left their house a mess and left a
note about leaving for Switzerland to throw the authorities off. They moved into the attic of Otto
Frank s office building. They were joined by a few others shorty after. During her time there, Anne
kept a very detailed diary about her daily life and her thoughts. They lived there for two years until
August 4, 1944 the German police stormed the building and found them from an anonymous tip.
The family was then sent to a concentration camp called Auschwitz. The men and women were
separated and those who were too young or

Difference Between Macronutrient Vs. Micronutrients
Difference Between Macronutrients and Micronutrients
Nutrients required for the survival of mankind and other living creatures can be divided into two
categories. They are macronutrients and micronutrients. There seems to be a lot of confusion over
the difference between macronutrients and micronutrients. The main difference between
macronutrients and micronutrients is that human body requires macronutrients in larger quantities
whereas micronutrients are needed in smaller quantities. The major macronutrients are
carbohydrate, protein and fat which contribute to the bulk of our food. They are the structural and
energy giving caloric constituents of our foods. Meanwhile, micronutrients such as vitamins,
minerals and phytochemicals are essential ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Humans and animals need macronutrients in larger quantities compared to micronutrients. They
contribute to the bulk energy needed for a living organism s metabolic system.
What are Micronutrients
Micronutrients are chemical substances required for various functions of the body, growth, and
disease prevention. Furthermore, they are essential for overall health of human beings. Humans
and animals consume micronutrients in smaller quantities compared to macronutrients. They
provide the required cofactors for human body metabolism to be carried out.
Difference Between Macronutrients and Micronutrients
The differences between macronutrients and micronutrients can be divided into following
categories. They are;
Definition
Macronutrients: macro indicates large and macronutrients are nutrients required in large amounts.
Micronutrients: micro indicates small and micronutrients are nutrients required in small amounts.
Examples
Macronutrients: Protein, fat, fiber, water and carbohydrate
Micronutrients:
Phytochemicals and antioxidants

Breastfeeding Vs Bottle Feeding Essay
Mothers around the world have a common goal, to give their babies the best of everything. All
mothers want their babies to have the best chances at life to thrive and survive. When a new
mother has had her baby, the next question usually is will you breastfeed or bottle feed your
baby? For some, that might be a very easy decision and for others it will be a complicated issue
as it s a decision that has to be made early. For mothers in Africa, the choice is particularly hard,
especially if they have AIDS. These mothers risk much more than most moms to give their babies
the best chance of survival. Information is not easy to come by to educate these women in their
choices. Infection can still be passed on, antibiotics have to be given and food is still scarce but
formula is so expensive that it often cannot be considered because money is not available for that
big of a purchase. Breastfeedingis the best tool a mother can give a baby.
Breastfeeding is the most natural inclination a baby is born with. They are born knowing it is
what they need. That does not always mean it is the easiest thing to learn between mother and
baby as they both have to find a way that works for them. Hardwiring is a term that neuroscientists
use to refer to reflexes and instincts that are built in to you and your baby s bodies and brains....
what this means is that babies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This allows the baby to be slowly weaned if the mother chooses to not continue nursing. Because of
a food and water shortage in Africa, breastfeeding the baby for as long as a mother can, allows the
baby to still receive nutrients and antibodies from the mother to help them fight off diseases that
plague children. Children face malnutrition, malaria, diarrhea, measles, and pneumonia and the
longer the mother can breastfeed the better chances her baby has to build up their immune

Crohn s Disease is Inflammation in the Digestive System Essay
Crohn s disease is a life long condition effecting victims of any age. It is considered a form of an
inflammatory bowel disease that causes inflammation in the digestive system. The cause of the
disease is unknown. The inflammation is due to the immune system attacking the healthy cells
throughout the body s gastrointestinal tract.
The exact causes of Crohn s disease remain unknown, but most believe that factors that contribute to
the disease may include genetics, immune system, environment, etc. The immune system does play
an important role in causing Crohn s disease. The immune system protects the body from infection
and other harmful substances. With this particular disease, the immune system will attack things
like food, bacteria, and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
There are periods of time when one will not experience any symptoms, which is called remission.
There are many tests are used to diagnosis patients with Crohn s disease. Blood tests are usually
ordered, but cannot confirm Crohn s disease without further testing. Blood tests often show
inflammation in the body. Anemia is common among patients that have Crohn s disease. A
colonoscopy is required to help confirm if the Patient has Crohn s disease. Most patients will have
abnormalities in the intestinal lining if they have Crohn s disease. Some Tests that are commonly
used is an upper endoscopy (EGD), X ray of intestines, CT scan, and an MRI. Crohn s Disease is
also known to be genetic.
Currently there is no cure for Crohn s disease. Treatment results differ from patient to patient. The
goal of treatments is to reduce inflammation and provide some relief of the symptoms and may lead
to long term remission. Crohn s disease treatments usually involve drug therapy and in certain cases
surgery is an option.
Drugs that help treat Crohn s disease include anti inflammatory drugs, Immune system suppressors,
and antibiotics. Some immune system suppressors carry an added risk of developing cancer such as
lymphoma.
If lifestyle changers and therapies and other treatments don t relive your signs and symptoms,
surgery may be an option. Surgery options include the surgeon removing the damaged portion of
your digestive tract and reconnect it, surgery is

Restraining Order Research Paper
We have all heard of a restraining order, and have at least a basic understanding of how they
work. Like all legal processes though, there is a complexity beneath the basic appeal of it. In
order to get a restraining order for instance, you must have an applicable reason, and a restraining
order will only be valid for so long until it either expires, or a court determines that it should stay in
place. It also depends on the situation about what form of restraining orderyou will get, and for how
long. Some may only last while a divorce proceeding is going on, others may be a permanent
arrangement.
Before we get into the legal reasons to request a restraining order, we will get into exactly what a
restraining order is.

another. If you feel you fall under one of the following situations, Lauren Koleilat of Koleilat Miller
can help you get a permanent restraining order.
Physical Abuse: If you can supply evidence that you, or your children have been harmed or
threatened with harm by another, you can file for a restraining order against the person in
question. A basic restraining order will require the person it has been filed against to stay a
certain distance from the one who filed it, as well as resist contacting them in any form. Some
restraining orders can also prohibit the person it is filed against from approaching the filers place
of employment, or from owning a firearm.
Psychological Abuse: If your spouse is constantly degrading, humiliating, or otherwise mentally
stressing you, a restraining order can be placed against them. Forms of psychological abuse can
involved the beforementioned degrading of a person, along with causing a person to live in fear of
something, turning family members against them, or tries to control your actions. A restraining
order will prohibit contact between the one who files for it and the one it is

Moon Affect Human Behavior
There is very little information about the floor of the sea and the depths of space, but we as
humans have come a long way from where we started. For hundreds of years folk stories and
horror movies have used the superstition of the moon in order to create a real world appeal.
Whether the moon is being held captive by a hostile Native American tribe or werewolves are
roaming the town there s no doubt that humans feel the power of the moon. Americans have sent
men to the moon and found giant squid in deep sea, but we still have very limited knowledge when
it comes to the power of the moon or what s at the bottom of the sea. Though studies show that the
moon controls a lot more than the average person might think, there is no real conclusion... Show

There is a possibility that the gravitational pull of the moon affects humans as it affects the currents
in major bodies of water. There is not much information on the topic, but many studies have been
done to try to prove or disprove that theory. The results are controversial and spread out. So does
the moon affect human behavior? By studying scientific experiments and analyzing data I hope to
come to a conclusion. The Full moon may or may not directly or indirectly affect the activity of
humans. Jodi tasso and Elizabeth miller, the authors of The effects of the moon on human
behavior* describe a study where It was found that the eight categories of rape, robbery and assault,
burglary, larceny and theft, auto theft, offenses against family and children, drunkenness, and
disorder conduct occurred significantly more frequently during the full moon phase than at other
times of the year. The quote shows some potential volatility to the idea that humans could be
affected by the moon. The Women state that there was a significant increase in the number of
criminal offenses during the full moon phase. The moon cycle take 29.5 day to go from full to full

David Sack, a doctor who wrote an article for Psychology Today articulates, trauma experienced in
childhood has a special ability to wound. Nevertheless, these difficulties allow teens to gain insight
into adulthood. Melinda Sordino from Speak struggled to overcome her battle with depression after
being raped. Rudyard Kipling, the author of If , explained the traits needed to deal with challenges
in adulthood. The Art of Resilience emphasizes the point that people are competent in subduing
hardships. In Speak, The Art of Resilience, and If , personification, conflict, and symbolism develop
the theme, although adolescencecan be associated with challenges, it ultimately culminates
individuals into young adults. Theme as revealed through personification advances the theme that
although adolescence can be associated with challenges, it ultimately culminates individuals into

second time; however, a sound explodes (Anderson 194) from Melinda. Even though it was
difficult to say no and confront the person that made her feel defeated, Melinda did so which made
her more confident. The sound that came from Melinda was powerful enough to finally startle
Andy Evans. Laurie Halse Anderson wanted readers to realize that their voices matter. As a result,
she uses the word explodes to accentuate the purpose and assertiveness in Melinda s voice.

Importance And Importance Of Maintenance Management
Maintenance Management is an orderly and systematic approach to planning, organizing,
monitoring and evaluating maintenance activities and their costs. A good maintenance
management system coupled with knowledgeable and capable maintenance staff can prevent
breakdown problems and environmental damage; yield longer asset life with fewer breakdowns;
and result in lower operating costsand a higher quality of heavy machinery.
Importance
Maintenance management is crucial to companies because proper maintenance makes workers
aware of the resources with which they have to work. When workers are aware of the cost and
nature of their maintenance resources, they are less likely to be wasteful with those resources.
They also are more aware of how their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ideally, the maintenance management system should be able to record maintenance tasks and
inventory/resources, provide feedback to the facilities operations manager for analysis, and support
the needs of the company and its customers. Computerized maintenance management software
programs often can meet these requirements and greatly reduce the amount of work necessary
compared to manual systems.
The word Operation is usually linked with Maintenance . To put these terms in context, Operation
is the performance of work or services and the provision of materials and energy to ensure the day
to day proper functioning of an asset, e.g., the work activities, associated chemicals and electricity
to run a water treatment plant. As such, it has a direct but simple impact on the cost of operating an
asset. Maintenance is the work performed on an asset such as a road, building, utility or piece of
equipment to preserve it in as near to its original condition as is practical and to realize its normal
life expectancy. This Technical Information Document, as its name implies, concentrates on
maintenance management systems only. In general, maintenance can be classified into the following

Challenges Of Radical Reconstruction
Following the end of the Civil War in 1865, the United States faced many political challenges. One
of these challenges would include the reintegration of the
Confederate states that had seceded from the Union. There were many questions and issues with
exactly how these states should be reintegrated back into the United States.
Another challenge that quickly came to the forefront, after the Civil War, was how to handle the
millions of freed African American slaves. This challenge would entail several things but more
specifically, how the government would give freedmen their freedom and equality, provide for
their civil and political rights, such as voting, and provide suitable land they could own. This

African Americans would continue to face additional unfair laws which would stifle their freedom.
In 1866, Frederick Douglass, along with a collective of other African Americans, went to the White
House to see President Johnson. They had a message to deliver to the president. They would talk
about not being happy with The Thirteenth Amendment that just ended slavery but did nothing to
enforce the equality of civil rights. They wanted the same protected rights afforded to natural born
Americans. In 1866, the Civil Rights
Bill, written by Lyman Trumbull, was passed by congress. This act would address many specific
things but mainly focused on the equality of all citizens. This act would also ultimately ignore
issues such as voting rights. It would also state in part that any person who discriminated against a
person of color would, ...shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, on conviction, shall be
punished by a fine... It would continue by also mentioning possible imprisonment in conjunction
with the fine. Unfortunately,
President Johnson would veto The Civil Rights Bill,

The Impact of Technological Change on Workers in the...
What has been the impact of technological change on workers in the modern era? To what extent do
the benefits outweigh the costs.
Productivity, the amount of economic value created for a given unit of input, such as an hour of
labor, is a crucial indicator of growth and wealth creation (How TechnologyIs Destroying Jobs, by
David Rothman in 2013). Labor productivity can grow for several reasons, including technological
change, quality of the labor force and greater capital investments (or capital deepening).
Computerisation has changed the relative value of skills, lowering the value of routine cognitive

This brings us back to how changes in management structure result from computerization of a firm
or industry. The complementarity between machine and human capabilities leads to a wide variety
of organizational structures, such as the establishment of the information enabled decentralized
worker: one who is supported by analytical applications that allow her to accomplish her task and is
in turn monitored by a computer analytical application that permits management to monitor
performance quickly and efficiently. The tendency toward computer based reorganization calls for
several very different changes in worker capabilities. The first is cognitive, as referred to earlier in
this paper. Individual workers or teams supported by analytical applications means must be able to
interpret the information that is presented. Often, this involves bridging from the quantitative data
provided by computers to complex decisions involving many factors. In a wide variety of
applications, computers have made information vastly cheaper and more abundant. This increases
the demand for humans who can process information processing in ways beyond the means of
machines.
Studies also find that technological change is the driving force of the changing division of labour
and that changes in organisational design are of a secondary nature. Human resource management
practices in the high performance workplace play a crucial role in improving

Emerson Thematic Statement
Write a thematic statement for the essay Self Reliance . Explain how Emerson s idea of Self
Reliance is different from and similar to the common use of the term (take care of your own
needs and don t depend on others outside yourself). The essay Self Reliance is different from the
definition of only thinking of one s own needs in the sense that Emerson explains that one
should not only depend on themselves but to also not submit to the majority of ideas in society
and obey by one s own beliefs. Emerson relates being independent or Self Reliant to the genuine
feelings of an individual and how it should be taken pride of rather than pushed away by the
conformities of society. Give 5 examples of figurative language and analyze how Emerson uses
them to convey his message of self reliance (Hint: your analysis should link back to the purpose
you mention in the thematic statement above). 1 Joint Stock Company: The meaning of this word
is a company owned by multiple shareholders, but Emerson uses it in the sense of America being
bound together through majority belief systems, but individual ideas should be recognized as
well. 2 Sculpture: A sculpture is described as a carving of a 3D object, Emerson uses it as a term
for explaining the memories that make a significant deal in society and being significant

by G. C. Rand Avery. This autobiography was written by Harriet E. Wilson, who lived the life
told in this novel apart from some minor fictionalized parts. Her story was not widely known to
most due to it speaking bad about the North and how they were against slaverybut kept indentured

I found these two companies are historically different from one another in such big ways. The

A Brief Note On Wildlife Photography, And For Good Reason
Wildlife photography is a very popular area to specialise in, and for good reason. It gives you a
great excuse to spend extended periods of time outdoors, keeps you fit, and allows you to
develop a real appreciation for the natural world. But it can also be a very challenging field too,
especially since your subject is often running away from you! I m going to share with you 15 of
my top tips so that you can start improving your wildlife photos straight away. Hopefully by the
end of this article you ll have learnt something new that will help you on your journey to becoming
the next Art Wolfe. 1. Shoot on Eye level When you re standing up and shooting an animal on the
ground, your angle of view is pointing downwards. This detracts from the photo, making the
perspective seem strange. It also decreases the distance between the subject and the background,
getting rid of your chance for that nice, soft bokeh (background). Instead, get onto eye level with
your subject. It brings the viewer down onto the animal s level, creating a much more interesting
perspective. It will most likely increase the distance between the subject and the background too,
removing distracting elements by throwing the backdrop out of focus. 2. Learn About Your Subject
Getting to know the animal you re photographing can be a really helpful trick. If you know about
an animal s typical behavioural traits, then you will be able to predict movements or particular
things you can focus on capturing.

Stimulus And Brand Selection
This study is an attempt to fill the gaps identified in the available literature on the association of
stimulus and brand selection. The present study measured the stimulus and its impact on brand
selection or purchase decision in the Indian online retail. To assess this relationship, different
models have been designed to investigate and measure the stimulus. For investigation purposes, a
qualitative model has been developed and presented in Chapters earlier. This model prioritized the
various factors of stimulus in context of the online retail. Next to this, the measurement aspect of
stimulus was addressed by the development of a quantitative model shown in Chapters earlier.
This model has been used to develop and validate the scale for the measurement of stimulus in the

review has been conducted on the association of stimulus and brand purchase decision. The
literature review consists of the evolution and definitions of individual, technology and societal
groups and brand purchase decision, a classification of available literature, and various factors
which constitute Stimulus in S O R model. Based on this basis of this review, gaps, and a research

The Queen Of The King
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a king and a queen anxiously awaited the birth of their
child. The king and queen had longed for a child, and so they had a daughter. However, when
the child was born, the queen died. Soon after the queen s passing, the king took a new wife.
However, the new queen was selfish, for she did not want to care for a child that was not her
own. And so, she sent the young princess to live a town by the harbor at the edge of the kingdom
with the hope that the princess would be forgotten and never return to the castle. The queen
arranged for the baby to be brought to the edge of the kingdom, where she was left on the
doorstep of an elderly blacksmith and his wife. The blacksmith and his wife brought the child into
their home and raised her as their own. Despite their old age, they had missed having a child in
their home, as their son had boarded one of the ships passing through the harbor long ago, never
to be seen or heard from again. Years passed, and the baby grew to become a beautiful girl.
However, as the girl aged, the elderly blacksmith and his wife had aged as well. And by the girl s
twelfth year, both the blacksmith and his wife had passed. Now it just so happened that the
town, which received many new visitors each day due to its location by the harbor, had recently

Comparing Plato And Aristotle s View Of Democracy
Like the best life, the best system of government is conducted in accordance with excellence.
(Aristotle, N. Ethics 1295a 25)
In terms of Democracy, Plato and Aristotle differ extensively. For instance, Plato considers
Democracy as a fundamentally corrupted form of government, where the possession of power rests
upon the will of the masses, which for Plato are incapable of achieving true knowledge. Conversely,
Aristotle recognizes Democracy among the best forms of governance. However, he argues that
democratic rule, if exercise in the form of Polity, will eventually lead society to pursue the best life.
Moreover, for the purpose of this essay I will concentrate in analyzing Plato and Aristotle s works

(POL. 1297b 37)
In addition, Aristotle and Plato fundamentally disagree in the conception of positive outcomes
with democratic governance. Specifically, Aristotle argues that if and only if the majority
exercises its power according to the rule of law, the majority s will is consider as valid, since
only by following the principles of law a society can achieve the best life. (POL 1295a)
Conversely, Plato clearly rejects the possibility of any positive consequence under democratic
authority. Since according to him, the masses possession of political authority in a democracy
appears to be the complete negation of social order and hierarchy. (REP. 556a 10)
Third, there are two major aspects in which Plato and Aristotle criticize democratic freedom. For
instance, Plato criticizes democracy mainly because he argues that the particular way in which a
democratic government exercises freedom allows individuals to behave lawlessly; therefore living
upon their desires. (REP 557a 5)
In contrast, Aristotle recognizes two important elements of freedom in a democracy. First, he
acknowledges as positive the fact that in a democracy freedom can be understood as the
possibility of rule and being ruled in turn. (POL 1317a 40) Next, like Plato, Aristotle criticizes
democracy based on the idea that for him, it symbolizes the rule of the majority that has the liberty
to act without constrains. (POL 1317b 13)

Stereotypes And Generalizations Of African Americans
Since the United States inception, the negative stereotypes and generalizations of African
Americans have been some of the worst examples of racism that has been extremely prevalent in
American culture. African American stereotypes date back all the way to colonial American times,
where African American slaverywas considered to be accepted and practiced. Since then, black
peoplein America have been treated horribly for stereotypes that have deep roots in the
mistreatment of black people in American history.
An example of negative stereotypes to African Americans in the past and even the present is
blackface. Blackface is a theatrical style of makeup that used negative African American
stereotypes which included excessively black skin, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another example mentioned by the Vice article in 2015 shows a group of UCLA students wearing
blackface and wearing baggy clothes at a Kanye Western party on campus. When this incident
spread on the news, major protests arose with the theme statement Our Culture Is Not a Costume.
Clack, the author of the article, also mentions that similar blackface and brownface parties were
thrown at fraternities and sororities in Arizona, California, Florida, and South Carolina. What is
interesting is that the majority of these recent blackface incidents involved white people, just like in
colonial America. These modern recent examples from just these past few years show how long the
negative stereotypical practice of blackface has unfortunately stayed alive throughout American
history.
Another unfortunate negative stereotype of African Americans is that they are unintelligent. As
with blackface, popular minstrel shows portrayed African Americans as stupid and unintelligent.
PBS mentions in Slavery and the Making of America that in 1844, Secretary of State John C.
Calhoun is quoted saying, Here is proof of the necessity of slavery. The African is incapable of self
care and sinks into lunacy under the burden of freedom. It is a mercy to give him the guardianship
and protection from mental death. This horrible generalization made by the Secretary of State
shows how deeply rooted these stereotypes were within American culture. Calhoun truly believed

The Day The World Trade Center Collapsed
Throughout history, many tragedies and sorrowful situations have occurred having to do with
issues such as wealth and money, power, control, and other issues. One of these times in history
is during the frightening event of 9/11, also known as the day the World Trade Center collapsed
by hijacked planes. This one event alone has impacted and changed the way people live today
significantly. The reaction of American people after this infamous event of the September 11, 2001
tragedy was of multiple things including patriotism, pride, and being united. Quickly, the American
public wanted to know who was responsible and planned revenge. This usually gives the
government the public support it needs to declare war on the enemy and declare a war which never
happened.
Throughout history, there have been numerous false flag operations done by government and
militaries. This is exactly what happened on September 11, 2001. This can date back to the
founding fathers of America in 1787, when they dreamt of a stable and balanced government for
the people of the United States, by the people themselves to lead. Leaders of the country did not
have the people of America in mind when they executed these attacks solely for their own personal
gain. The September 11 attacks were a false flag operation to take the US into a war in the Middle
East. The ideas and brains behind the attacks, the hijackings performed and the US leader s
motives for war all prove that the September 11 attacks was a well

Why The Death Penalty Should Stay Legal
There have been 1466 executions in the United States since 1976. This was the year that the
supreme court reinstated the death penalty. They maintained that is was constitutional under the
8th amendment. The death penalty has been around since the beginning of the United States.
Although there have been many debates and changes made the death penaltyis still used today. The
death penalty should stay legal. It should be used for only the most terrible crimes. If there is no
serious punishment for serious crimes people are more likely to commit them.
America needs to practice the laws that they preach, otherwise what kind of country is that? The
United States is built around the idea of justice. This means to do what is fair and right. If a serial
killer murders five people then gets caught, those families are going to want justice. They are
going to want that man to get what he deserves and for justice to be served. Somebody who takes
another human being s life deserves to be executed. It s not right and it can t be acceptable in the
United States. A country needs to do what is right and what people want. The United States is a
democracy. The people are part of decisions like voting because... Show more content on

The United States uses the death penalty because there has to be a punishment for taking a life.
There is no benefit and no fairness in letting someone who should have been executed spend their
life in prison. It punishes the American people. Executing a prisoner is much cheaper than paying
for them to live in prison. This doesn t mean that people should be sentenced to the death penalty
who don t deserve it just because it s cheaper. This means that if someone earned the punishment
and it will benefit society, then it is the right thing to do. How is it fair that the people of America
are paying for a criminal to live in prison who should have gotten the death

Watching TV Does More Harmful Things to People than Good...
Watching TV is an experience that most people do for almost all the time. Some people believe
that watching TV does more good things to people than harmful things, but other people say
that it does more harmful things to people than good things. The people who say that TV does
more harmful things than good things are doctors who know about things that are good and bad
in people s health and the people who say that TV is good for you are the people who watch a lot
of TV. Since doctors can help cure people and know what is good for people, this would mean
that the doctors are correct about TV harming people than the people who watch a lot of TV
who believe that TV can do good things to other people. Watching TV does more harmful things
to people than good things because it can cause them people to imitate bad behavior on TV, it
can cause people to have health problems, and that it can people s time away from doing
activities that help them become successful in their life. People who watch a lot of tv think that
they are not harmed by the TV but this however is not true. Doctors who know what s good for
people say that watching TV can cause a lot of harm to people since it can cause people to have
behavior problems and can cause them to not feel well from their health. One way that TV can do
more harmful things than good things is that it can cause people who watch a lot of TV to imitate
bad behavior on TV. According to KidsHealth.org, it said that TV

The View On Free Will
Avalon Singer
29 September 2014
Topic 1: What I Believe is the Correct View on Free Will
We are raised to believe that we are the makers of our own destiny. Every decision we make is our
own, and we are free citizens in every sense of the word.
Although this thought is comforting, I do not consider it to be true. I think that free will is an
illusion. The idea of free will is what keeps us sane and motivates us in our lives, but is not what
controls our lives. I presume that our world is ruled by determinism, yet due to the fact that people
believe that they are acting of their own free will they should be held morally responsible for their
actions.
In definition of the term determinism, our past actions and events govern what occurs in the
present. Therefore, our present actions will not only influence but will decide our future actions.
In other words, determinism is the belief that if our past actions or decisions had been different
then the outcome of our future actions would be as well. Philosopher A.J Ayer coincides with
this in his statement: It may be said of the agent that he would have acted otherwise if the causes
of his action had been different, but they being what they were, it seems to follow that he was
bound to act as he did (475). According to Natural laws, the universe is comprised of cause and
effect relationships with each cause having an effect and each effect having a cause. In trying to
declare determinism to be true above free will,

Orangeburg Massacre Essay
Eventually, the occurrence of the Orangeburg Massacre led to the racial integration of
Orangeburg and many other parts of South Carolina. If the Orangeburg Massacre had not
occurred, South Carolina might not have become the racially equal society it is today. However,
not everybody agreed with the change that was being brought as a result of the event. Many
caucasians at the time attempted to cover the incident up, and to blame whatever could not be
hidden on the protesters. Nevertheless, civil rights protesters were not going to let the killing of
their fellow pupils be in vain. The students of Orangeburg demanded the punishment of highway
patrolmen and other law enforcers on scene the night of the massacre. They wished to see the
officers punished to the fullest extent of the law so that justice could be served to the families of
the three young men who were killed (Pulaski 10). But, as an attempt to hide the massacre, many
white owned newspaper companies either simply refused to report the event, or blamed the
massacre on the protesters that participated that night (3 Negroes 1). A skirmish line of highway
patrolmen and city police returned the fire of demonstrating college students last night (3 Negroes

Descartes’ Arguments for the Real Distinction of Mind and...
Descartes Arguments for the Real Distinction of Mind and Body
Descartes argues has three main arguments for minds and bodies being two different distinct types
of substance. These are known as arguments for substance dualism and are as follows.
* The Argument from doubt : Descartes argues that while he could pretend or think that he had no
body and therefore did not exist in any place, he could not think or pretend he had no mind, as
merely having a doubt that he had a mind proves that he does.
* The Argument from Clear and distinct understanding: Descartes argues that if two things can be

Further more the mere doubt that you exist is proof that you in fact exist as how can you doubt
something unless you are existing. I assuredly existed, since I was persuaded. But there is I
know not what being, who is possessed at once of the highest power and the deepest cunning,
who is constantly employing all his ingenuity in deceiving me. Doubtless, then, I exist, since I
am deceived; and, let him deceive me as he may, he can never bring it about that I am nothing,
so long as I shall be conscious that I am something. So that it must, in fine, be maintained, all
things being maturely and carefully considered, that this proposition (pronunciatum ) I am, I
exist, is necessarily true (Descartes Meditations, II, p16,17). Descartes s also says that clear
perception, clarity and distinctness are present in the cogito, he says that these qualities are
essential in being sure of anything. Clearly perceiving something might mean that you think you
are sure of it but you could be wrong, Clarity and distinctness of perception means that you
recognise the reasons for the claim made by clear perception for what you believe to be true
being true, Descartes called this the mark of knowledge. Together the cogito and the mark of
knowledge set a firm foundation for all of Descartes s conclusions by showing that he and all of us

could affect the capital of Beeland. Assuming that both of these statements are accurate then the
Beeland government would appear to have a legitimate and reasonable claim that they are

The Election Of The Conservative Party Leadership
What, if anything, was new about Thatcherism? The ballot for the Conservative Party Leadership
on February 1975 was a turning point for the History of late 20th century politics in England. The
figure of Margaret Thatcher had emerged surprisingly as the new Party leader against the
incumbent Edward Heath. Thatcher s importance does not only lies on she being the first woman to
lead the Conservative Party, but on the ideas and statecraft that later gave life to a new concept

She also wanted to make Britain a competitive trading nation. Furthermore, she took the ideas of the
Scottish political economist Adam Smith, whom she considered the most important theorist of free

would encourage producers and traders. Finally it would stimulate competitiveness and innovation,
creating greater wealth and everyone would benefit. The result of these ideals winded up in a
revolution in economic policy and three elections won by Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative
Party. However there is a thin line between the fact that these ideals were not firstly hers Victorian

and the fact that Margaret Thatcher did introduced such a new statecraft that as a consequence the

Even the slightest inaccuracy of sales forecasting and potential revenue amounts can skew other

Budget Planning Concerns Continued Another concern identified, is the utilities expense budget
for utilities in Year 9 which is $150,000. This amount is identified as a fixed amount and is
unrelated to actually production activities and manufacturing efficiency. Considering that
production levels and activity fluctuates throughout the year, the budget for utilities should be a
variable item. An example; from Year 7 to Year 8, the utilities expenses increase by $15,000 and
with this detection, ways to reduce this expense should be investigate. Another concern is a
duplicated line item under the Selling, General, and Administrative Budget for Utilities and
Utilities and Services. Another issue for concern, Total Variable Costwas reported to be lower;
however was not enough for the lack of sales combined with an increase in advertising and
transportation which resulted in an overall negative result. The low Net Sales directly impacted the
Contribution Margin which decreased by $49,397. Overall, these concerns indicate the need for a
flexible budget with variance analysis.

The World Of The Classical Solar System
Last July, NASA s New Horizons spacecraft flew by Pluto, the last unvisited world of the
classical solar system. As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway
to a new frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that
constitutes the third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the
outer gas giants.
Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the
past eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the
spacecraft s small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have
been Pluto s surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average
temperatures of only tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons
would find Pluto to be little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft
encountered a world where nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from
towering mountains of water ice. Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and
multiple moons tumble overhead through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise
and sunset.
But beyond celebrating the visceral thrill of the Pluto flyby itself, or the intellectual frisson of
gazing on full color close ups of a place so alien and faraway, most of these discoveries from New
Horizons have so far found a

So we now have an accusation that cannot be backed up, yet Bush still decides to launch an attack
on Afghanistan. The attack is widely regarded as a failure though Bush will not admit it. In
Afghanistan the US army used a policy of blanket bombing , which was basically: bomb everything
in sight, and you re bound to hit something. This something was 1 nursing home, 2 Red Cross
hospitals, 1 school and hundreds of homes. They did manage, with the help of the anti Taliban
group in Afghanistan, the Northern Alliance, to find some arms caches and eliminate some Taliban
members. Once people realized that the operation in Afghanistan was a failure, Bush tried to regain
his popularity by announcing yet another controversial move; plans to attack Iraq. During the 1990
s Saddam Hussein, the leader of Iraq invaded Kuwait, the worlds biggest oil producer, and the
US and UN stepped in to defend it. This was known as the gulf war and was a big success for the
US, although they did not manage to get rid of Hussein. Many people now believe that Bush is
now trying to pick up where his predecessor, Bill Clinton, left off and rid the world of Saddam
Hussein and his oppression forever. This is all fine and well, but they are completely unprovoked
and have absolutely no reason to attack: Iraq has kept themselves to themselves since the end of the
gulf war. An assault on Iraq would, as the assault on

Baroque Vs. Baroque Era
Baroque is a complex term used to describe what was thought to be a messy, vaguely disgusting
style. Potentially coming from the Spanish words barrueco meaning a rough or imperfect pearl or
berruca the term for wart , Baroque came to be a generalized term for art, architecture, music, and
sculpture from the 16th century to the early 18th century (Klindt Jensen 2015). Not only was the
Baroqueperiod long lasting, but it was far reaching as well. From Holland to Spain, Germany to
France, the Baroque style began in Romeand Italy around 1600 and quickly spread to most of
Europe, eventually reaching colonial South America in the 18th Century (Fargis 1998). Similar to

Second, planar to recession. Figures no longer purely stood parallel to the canvas, and instead
had depth and spatial relations. Third, the change from closed to open form: the
acknowledgement of the viewer and the painting s relation to the physical world with
conflicting angles and the ability to be out of frame . Fourth, the idea of unity in a painting
where no single image could be isolated due to lighting and significance. Finally, the change from
absolute clarity to relative clarity, the potential for a subjective painting, one which could be read
as a story. Painters such as Caravaggio presented their works as theatrical displays, with intense
lighting bringing the figures to the stage. Styles such as Tenebrism, Chiaroscuro, and Leonardo
De Vinci s Sfumato used fine shading and the drastic contrast between light and darkness to bring
dramatic elements to their works, as though they had their own personal spotlight. Eclectic of the
High Renaissance, Baroque painting was an evolution of style, aggregating what were the
preferred styles from the past and adapting them to the painter s personal use. Peter Paul Rubens,
a Flemish painter, was one of the best known painters whom mastered the power of the Baroque.
His works such as the Raising of the Cross portrayed Jesus as a heroic figure, with intense lighting
and even more intense facial features (Scribner 2017.)

In today s world, emergencies of all types occur frequently. They include floods, hurricanes,
earthquakes, landslides, tsunamis, infectious diseases, wildfires, anthrax threats, riots and civil

Prevention is the first phase of emergency management. While not all disasters can be prevented,

Illegal Immigration Benefits
Immigration, legal and illegal can both harm and help the economies of the supporting nation.
Most people view immigration as a bad thing, something that harms the nation and takes valuable
jobs meant for the citizens of said nation. What people don t look at, is what about the jobs no one
else would take besides these immigrants, such as crop picking and other menial tasks. Intelligent
and ambitious legal immigrants who want a better life in America also bring their culture and a
source of cheap labor. It is also true that decreasing legal immigrationwould increase the amount of
illegal immigration. Of course, there are problems with illegal immigrants. They often bring illegal

We are supposed to be allowed equal treatment and freedom, but denying people the rights to that
freedom by making immigration illegal would be intolerable. These immigrants have a positive
effect on the economy due to tax dollars and cheap work. They also do many jobs that are
undesirable and they are willing to take below minimum wage in some instances. This has a
positive effect on the economy.
By allowing immigration there are of course some obstacles such as people ignoring the
immigration laws set, and if we are going to talk about immigration we are also going to have to
talk about illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants can cause harm to the nation, but they also help
the U.S. in ways most people don t think about. Many illegal immigrants are paid under the table,
and if they do manage to get a job they are willing to take less money than the minimum wage.

harmless. But, if used in excess, someone can easily become addicted and not even know it.
Smartphones have social media apps such as Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter; that s only
naming a few. Many people around the world habitually use and check on these apps, on an
hourly to an everyday basis. Continuously checking these apps will ultimately lead to addiction if
not recognized and controlled. Computers have the same effect along with help from the
internet; video games, Netflix, Youtube, can all entertain someone for a few hours. That time
can easily be doubled, tripled and/or quadrupled, because of how entertained or bored someone
can be. Society needs to start realizing how much time they are spending on their smartphones
and computers. There has to be some sort of equilibrium to establish, in order to not cause
addiction or obsessive behavior. Smartphones and computers are going to keep growing and
expanding for decades. Technology impacts most of us in our life; we are surrounded and
engulfed by it. Our lives have been made easier and a little more fun by the help of technology. For
example, computers and smartphones. But, these technologies could actually be quite harmful. Can
people really become addicted to these technologies? Cooke 2 Over the last decade, computers and
phones

Character Analysis Of The Rocket Boys Failure In October...
In order to achieve success, a person may need to explode a fence or two. In October Sky, the
Rocket Boys did exactly that. The boys failures were frustrating, however it was those failures that
led them to them succeed throughout the novel. Thus, an extensive theme in October Sky is that if
a personage push through the pain and work hard enough, his or hers dreams will come true, as
illustrated by the Rocket Boyshard work over the course of 3 years in perfecting their rockets,
showing that any person can be successful in his or her aspirations. Sonny worked hard in many
aspects of his life, especially on his relationship with his father, which was less than ideal. At the
beginning of the book, this shaky relationship is displayed at the... Show more content on

Near the middle of their adventures, the Rocket Boys realise that they are going to need more
money if they want to continue building rockets. Their plan is to dig scrap iron, which was a
very grueling, long process, After five days of digging, we were finally rewarded with the sound
of a pick hitting cast iron. When we finished uncovering the pipe, we looked like the mud men of
Borneo worshipping a fallen idol (307). This shows that the Rocket Boys spent a long 5 days in
a tough situation, sacrificing time and effort so they could earn money for rockets. This also
highlights the Rocket Boys hard work put into finding scrap iron, even though at first it seemed
impossible to complete the task. Sonny, when faced with the certain fact that he will not be able
to learn calculus with the rest of Rocket Boys, decides to take time and energy to learn it by
himself. Dad came upstairs and peeked into my room and asked me what I was doing. Studying
calculus, I replied. I didn t really want to discuss it with him, because I was sure he d criticize me
for wasting time. You told me Mr. Turner wasn t going to let you take calculus, he said in an
accusing voice. I m learning on my own, (265 66). This reveals that Sonny was able to persevere
through obstacles and work towards an almost impossible task. This also lets the reader know that
Sonny was a hard worker, because he was never good at

Benefits Of The GI Bill
GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944
In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused
political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also
known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans.
The GI Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have
faults. The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did
not advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill
also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies
to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made.
The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War Ihad come
back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government
benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force.
Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on
the number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action
until 20 years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus
Marchers was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and
other groups that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in
Washington, D.C. and demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not
convey and ended up sending out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s
demands. This movement, putting veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights.
President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans.
On June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the
American Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. Other
veteran affiliated organizations that played a role in the creation of the

The New 62 By Michael Strand Essay
The New 62
Michael Strand is a 62 year old who has worked with children for 40 years as a coach, counselor,
and mentor. Due to his business, he maintains strong ties to his community. He is also strongly
driven and motivated by his wife and kids. While interviewing Michael, he didn t shy away from
sharing his personal stories and experiences that helped him become the person he is now. He was
honest and became emotional when sharing his long time stressors that began in his early
adolescence. In addition, the moment he described his obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD) and
his triggers, it became noticeable throughout the interview the types of patterns he created. These
patterns included cleaning and placement of drinks on a coffee table. However, he was humorous
and insightful when he made jokes that revolved around the societal stereotype of an old man and
his capabilities. The interview as a whole undertook different forms of emotions as Strand explained
the consequences to his drug use in his adolescence, overdosing twice, and living on the streets
from 15 to 17 years old. All of which made a big impact on him while growing out of adolescence
up to his early 30s. Although his life began troubled, his quality of life seemed to have improved as
he entered his adulthood to late adulthood years.
Biological Forces

The Atkins Diet
Benefits From The Atkins Diet
The Atkins Diet is probably the most talked about diet regimen ever, perhaps for its controversial
style of dieting that goes against conventional dieting wisdom. Despite this reputation, more and
more people still try to follow the Atkins Diet. Notwithstanding its radical dieting methods, it is a
fairly effective dieting plan and achieves what it preaches. The Atkins Diet has its first beginnings
during the early 70 s when it was introduced by Dr. Robert Atkins. He was looking for an

has changed a little bit since it first made its way into the public arena. It is a low carbohydrate,
high protein and fat diet that is a more favorable alternative to a low calorie diet. With the Atkins
Diet, one does not have to count calorie intake. One can eat as often as he wants to and as many
as he wants to as long as he stays clear of carbohydrates and sugar. A lot of healthbenefits await a
person about to go on the Atkins Diet. The weight loss that happens while on the Atkins Diet may
have favorable results overall since the body has transferred from burning carbohydrates to
burning fats in the body as its primary energy source. The low carbohydrate diet also lowers the
insulin production of the body and therefore may help in preventing diseases like diabetes. The
high protein intake that comes with the Atkins diet can also reduce one s craving for food, so
appetite can easily be controlled. The protein rich as well as high fat foods that one consumes with
the Atkins Diet are more satisfying and more filling that the dieter would not have to feel that he is

Leveraging Labor Relations
Compensation and Benefits
Leveraging Labor Relations
Companies are interested in leveraging relationships with their employees in order to improve the
quality of the health care they provide. Labor relations refer to managing situations between
companies and their employees in different unions. This activity is usually attributed to human
resources management. Therefore, this ensures that the objectives of the company are reflected by
these relations.
It is important that companies try to improve the health care they provide their employees. This is
one of the most important issues that unions are trying to improve. However, in order to reach this
objective, companies must increase their investments in health care packages. This leads to
increased leverage (Investopedia, 2012). In other words, these companies must increase their debt
in order to improve health care services.
This is usually performed by borrowing more money from banks. This is not always a good idea
for most companies. This is because some of them already have large sums of money borrowed
from banks, and most banks prefer not to increase these amounts. In addition to this, interest rates
determine the increase of the investments made in improving health care services.
Another strategy that company can use in order to improve the health care services they provide to
their employees is represented by better negotiations between these companies and health care
services providers. These providers can

Evaluating the Levels of Processing Theory Essay
Evaluating the Levels of Processing Theory
The levels of Processing theory was put forward in 1972 by Craik and Lockhart. This theory came
about after they criticised the Multi store model of memory saying it was too simplistic and
descriptive rather that actually explaining the model. This theory was an alternative to the Multi
store model as it replaces the idea of Short term and Log term memory. Levels of processing theory
believes that information can be processed at different levels at the same time. The deeper the
information is processed, the more likely it will be remembered.
There was a case of a man name KF and he had damage to the occipital parietal lobe so he had
damaged a part of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The depth of the information go from shallow to deep processing. The levels are made up of
structural processing which are upper and lower class letters, Phonetic or sound processing
which are rhyming words and lastly semantic processing which is about the meanings of the
words. The experiment done in our lesson was about different types of processing. Results of
that showed that the semantic processing was the one that we had processed the deepest as we
had to actually recognise and process the words into our long term memory, and not just based
on the appearance of the word. When information is first processed, it goes to the sensory
memory. From there if the information I attended to, it will be processed into the short term
memory and if not it will probably be lost. If information from the short term memory is
rehearsed, it will be processed into the long term memory where it can stay for up to a lifetime.
There are two types of rehearsal which are used in different ways of remembering information.
These are called elaborative rehearsal and maintenance rehearsal. Maintenance rehearsal involves
purely repeating the information over and over again, whereas elaborative rehearsal involves doing
something with the material a you repeat it,

Hieroglyphs In Ancient Egypt
1.Hieroglyphs were the next advancement around the year of 3300 or 3200 BCE. This
advancement came during early civilizations. Hieroglyphs were an extension to pictographs,
however, letters began to represent these symbols that were drawn on the walls. These letters were
the first step in creating a written language. Due to hieroglyphs emerging from a preliterate Egypt,
Egyptian writinghad a set of some 22 hieroglyphs to represent syllables that begin with a single
consonant of their language, plus a vowel to be supplied by the native speaker. The hieroglyphic
system used in ancient Egyptevolved and had between 700 and 800 basic symbols and the number
continued to grow. Hieroglyphs were used for the next 3,500 years, all the way into Alexander the
Great s time. However, as time went on, by the 4th century few Egyptians were able to read the
hieroglyphs... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern day, researchers are still trying to decipher what different hieroglyphs mean and are seen as

1.Pictographs formed the basis for early written symbols as used by ancient Egyptian, Sumerian
and Chinese civilizations. This era was known as prehistory. These ancient civilizations used
symbols nearly 5000 years back and developed them before history was recorded. A pictogram or
pictograph is a symbol representing a concept, object, activity, place or event by illustration.
Pictograph s also represented the fine arts during this time. Pictography is a form of writing
whereby ideas are transmitted through drawing. Pictograms are still in use as the main medium of

The Mathematics Involved in Deciphering A Crime Scene
Introduction
Though one may assume that the logistics involved with deducing the events that occurred at a
crime scene merely involve the reasonable deduction skills of an individual, in reality adequate
results can only be achieved through the use of certain mathematical methods. For this particular
investigation, the examples deal with a homicide case where it is known that there was only one
shooter and one victim. In order to analyze blood patterns and determine a time of death, the
Pythagorean Theorem and Newton s Law of Cooling must be utilized. This exploration is important
to my future as an attorney with a focus on homicide cases. It will be important to discover the
uncertainties associated with each of these methods, as they appear quite simple to begin with.
Proving the Pythagorean Theorem
In an effort to fully understand the Pythagorean Theorem, I must first examine a method used to
derive the formula. Whilst I examined several different methods, I was confused as to how a
person could think of such strategies. This method was first derived by Bhaskara. I used this proof,
because it best connects with the crime scene situation at hand. The use of multiple triangles and
squares mimic the makeup of a room.
Bhaskara s Proof: I decided to manipulate Bhaskara s method and make it more understandable for
my usage.

Ethnic cleansing is defined as the systematic removal of ethnic or religious groups from a given territory by a more powerful ethnic group, with the intent of making it ethnically homogenous. This basically means, one ethnic groups removes another group to make a certain place s population just their ethnic group. Ethnic cleansing can be carried out in many ways, such as forced migration, intimidation, and mass murder. One of the most cruel and widespread examples of this was the Holocaust. It was portrayed in the book The Diary of Anne Frank . In 1933, a man named Adolf Hitler was elected as chancellor of Germany. Germany was angry and embarrassed from WW1, and they wanted someone to blame. Hitler gave them someone, the jews. He blamed them for Germany s defeat. The Franks are the main focus of the book The Diary of Anne Frank . After Hitler was elected the Franks started to notice the anger and hatred around them, so they fled to Amsterdam. In 1940, Germany invaded The Netherlands and they began to place restrictions on the jews. Anne Frank and her sister had to switch to an all jewish school, they had to wear stars on their clothes, and they weren t allowed in certain places. In 1942 Anne s sister received a call up notice to be relocated to a work camp. Her father then decide it was time to tell them about their hiding place. They left their house a mess and left a note about leaving for Switzerland to throw the authorities off. They moved into the attic of Otto Frank s office building. They were joined by a few others shorty after. During her time there, Anne kept a very detailed diary about her daily life and her thoughts. They lived there for two years until August 4, 1944 the German police stormed the building and found them from an anonymous tip. The family was then sent to a concentration camp called Auschwitz. • 4. Breastfeeding Vs Bottle Feeding Essay Mothers around the world have a common goal, to give their babies the best of everything. All mothers want their babies to have the best chances at life to thrive and survive. When a new mother has had her baby, the next question usually is will you breastfeed or bottle feed your baby? For some, that might be a very easy decision and for others it will be a complicated issue as it s a decision that has to be made early. For mothers in Africa, the choice is particularly hard, especially if they have AIDS. These mothers risk much more than most moms to give their babies the best chance of survival. Information is not easy to come by to educate these women in their choices. Infection can still be passed on, antibiotics have to be given and food is still scarce but formula is so expensive that it often cannot be considered because money is not available for that big of a purchase. Breastfeedingis the best tool a mother can give a baby. Breastfeeding is the most natural inclination a baby is born with. They are born knowing it is what they need. That does not always mean it is the easiest thing to learn between mother and baby as they both have to find a way that works for them. Like all legal processes though, there is a complexity beneath the basic appeal of it. In order to get a restraining order for instance, you must have an applicable reason, and a restraining order will only be valid for so long until it either expires, or a court determines that it should stay in place. It also depends on the situation about what form of restraining orderyou will get, and for how long. Some may only last while a divorce proceeding is going on, others may be a permanent arrangement. Labor productivity can grow for several reasons, including technological change, quality of the labor force and greater capital investments (or capital deepening). The tendency toward computer based reorganization calls for several very different changes in worker capabilities. The first is cognitive, as referred to earlier in this paper. Individual workers or teams supported by analytical applications means must be able to interpret the information that is presented. It gives you a great excuse to spend extended periods of time outdoors, keeps you fit, and allows you to develop a real appreciation for the natural world. But it can also be a very challenging field too, especially since your subject is often running away from you! I m going to share with you 15 of my top tips so that you can start improving your wildlife photos straight away. Hopefully by the end of this article you ll have learnt something new that will help you on your journey to becoming the next Art Wolfe. 1. Shoot on Eye level When you re standing up and shooting an animal on the ground, your angle of view is pointing downwards. This detracts from the photo, making the perspective seem strange. • 19. The Queen Of The King Once upon a time, in a faraway land, a king and a queen anxiously awaited the birth of their child. The king and queen had longed for a child, and so they had a daughter. However, when the child was born, the queen died. Soon after the queen s passing, the king took a new wife. However, the new queen was selfish, for she did not want to care for a child that was not her own. And so, she sent the young princess to live a town by the harbor at the edge of the kingdom with the hope that the princess would be forgotten and never return to the castle. The queen arranged for the baby to be brought to the edge of the kingdom, where she was left on the doorstep of an elderly blacksmith and his wife. The blacksmith and his wife brought the child into their home and raised her as their own. Despite their old age, they had missed having a child in their home, as their son had boarded one of the ships passing through the harbor long ago, never to be seen or heard from again. Years passed, and the baby grew to become a beautiful girl. However, as the girl aged, the elderly blacksmith and his wife had aged as well. And by the girl s twelfth year, both the blacksmith and his wife had passed. Now it just so happened that the town, which received many new visitors each day due to its location by the harbor, had recently welcomed a new arrival; a physician, set to take the place of the previous town doctor who had decided to leave on one of the ships passing though the harbor. • 20. Comparing Plato And Aristotle s View Of Democracy Like the best life, the best system of government is conducted in accordance with excellence. (Aristotle, N. Ethics 1295a 25) In terms of Democracy, Plato and Aristotle differ extensively. For instance, Plato considers Democracy as a fundamentally corrupted form of government, where the possession of power rests upon the will of the masses, which for Plato are incapable of achieving true knowledge. Conversely, Aristotle recognizes Democracy among the best forms of governance. However, he argues that democratic rule, if exercise in the form of Polity, will eventually lead society to pursue the best life. (POL. 1297b 37) In addition, Aristotle and Plato fundamentally disagree in the conception of positive outcomes with democratic governance. Specifically, Aristotle argues that if and only if the majority exercises its power according to the rule of law, the majority s will is consider as valid, since only by following the principles of law a society can achieve the best life. (POL 1295a) Conversely, Plato clearly rejects the possibility of any positive consequence under democratic authority. Since according to him, the masses possession of political authority in a democracy appears to be the complete negation of social order and hierarchy. (REP. 556a 10) Third, there are two major aspects in which Plato and Aristotle criticize democratic freedom. For instance, Plato criticizes democracy mainly because he argues that the particular way in which a democratic government exercises freedom allows individuals to behave lawlessly; therefore living upon their desires. (REP 557a 5) In contrast, Aristotle recognizes two important elements of freedom in a democracy. First, he acknowledges as positive the fact that in a democracy freedom can be understood as the possibility of rule and being ruled in turn. (POL 1317a 40) Next, like Plato, Aristotle criticizes democracy based on the idea that for him, it symbolizes the rule of the majority that has the liberty to act without constrains. Stereotypes And Generalizations Of African Americans Since the United States inception, the negative stereotypes and generalizations of African Americans have been some of the worst examples of racism that has been extremely prevalent in American culture. African American stereotypes date back all the way to colonial American times, where African American slaverywas considered to be accepted and practiced. Since then, black peoplein America have been treated horribly for stereotypes that have deep roots in the mistreatment of black people in American history. Another example mentioned by the Vice article in 2015 shows a group of UCLA students wearing blackface and wearing baggy clothes at a Kanye Western party on campus. When this incident spread on the news, major protests arose with the theme statement Our Culture Is Not a Costume. Clack, the author of the article, also mentions that similar blackface and brownface parties were thrown at fraternities and sororities in Arizona, California, Florida, and South Carolina. What is interesting is that the majority of these recent blackface incidents involved white people, just like in colonial America. These modern recent examples from just these past few years show how long the negative stereotypical practice of blackface has unfortunately stayed alive throughout American history. Another unfortunate negative stereotype of African Americans is that they are unintelligent. As with blackface, popular minstrel shows portrayed African Americans as stupid and unintelligent. PBS mentions in Slavery and the Making of America that in 1844, Secretary of State John C. Calhoun is quoted saying, Here is proof of the necessity of slavery. The African is incapable of self care and sinks into lunacy under the burden of freedom. It is a mercy to give him the guardianship and protection from mental death. The Day The World Trade Center Collapsed Throughout history, many tragedies and sorrowful situations have occurred having to do with issues such as wealth and money, power, control, and other issues. One of these times in history is during the frightening event of 9/11, also known as the day the World Trade Center collapsed by hijacked planes. This one event alone has impacted and changed the way people live today significantly. The reaction of American people after this infamous event of the September 11, 2001 tragedy was of multiple things including patriotism, pride, and being united. Quickly, the American public wanted to know who was responsible and planned revenge. This usually gives the government the public support it needs to declare war on the enemy and declare a war which never happened. Throughout history, there have been numerous false flag operations done by government and militaries. This is exactly what happened on September 11, 2001. This can date back to the founding fathers of America in 1787, when they dreamt of a stable and balanced government for the people of the United States, by the people themselves to lead. Leaders of the country did not have the people of America in mind when they executed these attacks solely for their own personal gain. They maintained that is was constitutional under the 8th amendment. The death penalty has been around since the beginning of the United States. Although there have been many debates and changes made the death penaltyis still used today. The death penalty should stay legal. It should be used for only the most terrible crimes. If there is no serious punishment for serious crimes people are more likely to commit them. America needs to practice the laws that they preach, otherwise what kind of country is that? The United States is built around the idea of justice. This means to do what is fair and right. If a serial killer murders five people then gets caught, those families are going to want justice. Some people believe that watching TV does more good things to people than harmful things, but other people say that it does more harmful things to people than good things. The people who say that TV does more harmful things than good things are doctors who know about things that are good and bad in people s health and the people who say that TV is good for you are the people who watch a lot of TV. Since doctors can help cure people and know what is good for people, this would mean that the doctors are correct about TV harming people than the people who watch a lot of TV who believe that TV can do good things to other people. • 25. The View On Free Will Avalon Singer 29 September 2014 Topic 1: What I Believe is the Correct View on Free Will We are raised to believe that we are the makers of our own destiny. Every decision we make is our own, and we are free citizens in every sense of the word. Although this thought is comforting, I do not consider it to be true. I think that free will is an illusion. The idea of free will is what keeps us sane and motivates us in our lives, but is not what controls our lives. I presume that our world is ruled by determinism, yet due to the fact that people believe that they are acting of their own free will they should be held morally responsible for their actions. In definition of the term determinism, our past actions and events govern what occurs in the present. Therefore, our present actions will not only influence but will decide our future actions. In other words, determinism is the belief that if our past actions or decisions had been different then the outcome of our future actions would be as well. Philosopher A.J Ayer coincides with this in his statement: It may be said of the agent that he would have acted otherwise if the causes of his action had been different, but they being what they were, it seems to follow that he was bound to act as he did (475). According to Natural laws, the universe is comprised of cause and effect relationships with each cause having an effect and each effect having a cause. If the Orangeburg Massacre had not occurred, South Carolina might not have become the racially equal society it is today. Many caucasians at the time attempted to cover the incident up, and to blame whatever could not be hidden on the protesters. Nevertheless, civil rights protesters were not going to let the killing of their fellow pupils be in vain. The students of Orangeburg demanded the punishment of highway patrolmen and other law enforcers on scene the night of the massacre. They wished to see the officers punished to the fullest extent of the law so that justice could be served to the families of the three young men who were killed (Pulaski 10). But, as an attempt to hide the massacre, many white owned newspaper companies either simply refused to report the event, or blamed the massacre on the protesters that participated that night (3 Negroes 1). As the largest known member of the Kuiper belt, Pluto is also the gateway to a new frontier, a scarcely studied collection of primordial icy bodies far from the sun that constitutes the third zone of the solar system after the realms of the inner rocky planets and the outer gas giants. Like most first glimpses of new frontiers, Pluto held so many surprises for New Horizons that the past eight months have seen a steady stream of discoveries coming from the mission, as the spacecraft s small radio transmitter beams its gathered data back home. The biggest surprises have been Pluto s surface and atmosphere, which are restlessly active and diverse despite average temperatures of only tens of degrees above absolute zero. Some scientists expected New Horizons would find Pluto to be little more than an inert, sunlight starved orb. Instead, the spacecraft encountered a world where nitrogen glaciers flow down into plains of frozen methane from towering mountains of water ice. Sunless half frozen oceans lurk deep beneath the surface, and multiple moons tumble overhead through hydrocarbon hazed red skies that tinge to blue at sunrise and sunset. Preparedness in the field of emergency managementis defined as a state of readiness to respond to a disaster, crisis, or any other type of emergency situation (FEMA, 2016). • 44. Benefits Of The GI Bill GI Bill: The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 In World War I, the servicemen had postponed benefits that were promised to them. This caused political turmoil and the response was the Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944, which is also known as the GI Bill. This bill provided a range of benefits for the returning World War II veterans. The GI Bill made a step in the right direction to ensure rightful benefits to the veterans, but did have faults. The American Legion played an important role in the enactment of the bill. The GI Bill did not advocate discrimination, but had been interpreted differently for African Americans. The bill also did not include Merchant Marines, which were carriers and ships that delivered war supplies to the soldiers. Over the years, adjustments to the GI Bill were made. The Servicemen Readjustment Act of 1944 was enacted after the soldiers of World War Ihad come back from the war and had troubles making ends meet. The soldiers had help from government benefits, but the benefits were not enough to help soldiers transitioning back to the work force. Congress had stepped in and made the Act of 1924. This Act promised a bonus that was based on the number of days that were served in the military. However, this bonus was not put into action until 20 years later, which was too late for struggling soldiers. A group of veterans called the Bonus Marchers was composed up of 17,000 United States World War I veterans, veterans families, and other groups that were affiliated with them. The Bonus Marchers marched to the Capitol in Washington, D.C. and demanded the bonus that they were promised. The government did not convey and ended up sending out U.S. troops against the WWI veterans under President Hoover s demands. This movement, putting veterans against soldiers, was a turning point in veterans rights. President Franklin D. Roosevelt was determined to right the wrong that was done to the veterans. On June 22, 1944, the GI Bill was signed into law. February 17, 1944 marks the date that the American Legion began their daily meetings on how to get the GI Bill of Rights passed. Labor relations refer to managing situations between companies and their employees in different unions. This activity is usually attributed to human resources management. Therefore, this ensures that the objectives of the company are reflected by these relations. It is important that companies try to improve the health care they provide their employees. This is one of the most important issues that unions are trying to improve. However, in order to reach this objective, companies must increase their investments in health care packages. This leads to increased leverage (Investopedia, 2012). In other words, these companies must increase their debt in order to improve health care services. This is usually performed by borrowing more money from banks. This is not always a good idea for most companies. This is because some of them already have large sums of money borrowed from banks, and most banks prefer not to increase these amounts. Results of that showed that the semantic processing was the one that we had processed the deepest as we had to actually recognise and process the words into our long term memory, and not just based on the appearance of the word. When information is first processed, it goes to the sensory memory. From there if the information I attended to, it will be processed into the short term memory and if not it will probably be lost. For this particular investigation, the examples deal with a homicide case where it is known that there was only one shooter and one victim. In order to analyze blood patterns and determine a time of death, the Pythagorean Theorem and Newton s Law of Cooling must be utilized. This exploration is important to my future as an attorney with a focus on homicide cases. It will be important to discover the uncertainties associated with each of these methods, as they appear quite simple to begin with. Proving the Pythagorean Theorem In an effort to fully understand the Pythagorean Theorem, I must first examine a method used to derive the formula. Whilst I examined several different methods, I was confused as to how a person could think of such strategies. This method was first derived by Bhaskara. I used this proof, because it best connects with the crime scene situation at hand. The use of multiple triangles and squares mimic the makeup of a room.
