The concept of positioning Positioning appears to have evolved from market segmentation, targeting
and market structure changes during the 1960s and the early 1970s (Sekhar, 1989). In the last few
years, however, writers on the subject have credited Ries and Trout for popularising the term. In their
work, Ries and Trout (1986) concluded that,
Positioning starts with the product. A piece of merchandise, a service, a company, an institution, or
even a person . . .
They go on to argue that positioning is not what is done to the product/ service, but rather what is done
to the mind of the prospect, ``. . . positioning shifts the emphasis of marketing from the product to the
battle for your mind. The emphasis of their debate (supported almost exclusively by their consultancy
and personal experiences) centered around the communications/ advertising elements of positioning.
This theme has been adopted by Kotler (2000) who provides the following definition,
Positioning is the act of designing the company s offering and image to occupy a distinct place in the
target market s mind.
Although the definitions of Ries and Trout, and Kotler are among the most widely quoted, a single,
universally accepted definition has yet to emerge. At the same time, several terms such as positioning
(Kotler, 2000), position (Smith and Lusch, 1976),

The Impact Of Online Communities On Physical Social...
Abstract
Nowadays, people spend much time in online communities to network with virtual friends and play
role plays. They provide an advantage for people with special needs who cannot leave the house,
because they benefit from the accessibility of the internet. Moreover, they help people who often
move to stay in touch with their friends. Nevertheless, spending too much time in online communities
leads to drawbacks in the development of the user s personality. More energy is dedicated to the
virtual life than to real life and people lose track of their personalities while busy building online ones.
Also, frequent users of online communities have difficulties beginning meaningful real life
relationships. Virtual friendships are shallow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People meet online to run blogs, meaning online diaries, share information and photos, exchange
Youtube videos or unionize in a political, cultural, social and economic way (Das Internet als soziales
Erlebnis, 2007). But not only can real life people get together and share common interests, they can
also abandon their individual personalities and become somebody else: Second Life, a virtual world,
allows their members to create an avatar of their choice and guide it through its world with virtual
people, entertainment, opportunities and semi virtual marketplaces (Second Life, 2008). According to
Computer Industry Almanac Inc. (2007), more than 1.2 billion people use the internet worldwide and
the largest online community has over 200 million members. Nevertheless, the effect on physical
relationships must be investigated. Although online communities provide social advantages for certain
groups of people, they cannot replace real life relationships due to their limitation of peoples abilities
of developing their own personalities and the loss of the sense of profound interpersonal relationships.
Discussion
Online communities provide social advantages for two groups of people. First of all, persons with
certain handicaps that limit their mobility can benefit from the easy handling and accessibility of the
internet. They get the chance to interact with other people disregarding their special needs. For
example, someone who cannot leave their house due to an illness is

Ulysses As A Hero In The Adventures Of Ulysses
A hero is always described as one who stands for the common good of people, whether it be an
archetype of a typical hero from fabled descend or those who are unexpectedly deemed a hero in
everyday lives. Bernard Evslin s adventure fiction, The Adventures of Ulysses, illustrates the life of
Ulysses ten years after fighting alongside the Greeks in the Trojan War. He encounters trials and
tribulations such as, unknown seas and numerous inconceivable monsters to hopefully return to his
rightful place as king of Ithaca. Some of his trials take place on the islands of Lotusland, Aeaea, and a
narrow strait to Thrinacia. On Lotusland, Ulysses is met with an inescapable urge to sleep because
Morpheus, the son of Hypnos and nephew of Hades, orders the natives to feed Ulysses and his crew
intoxicating flowers to make them fall into a deep slumber. Ulysses also finds himself with a challenge
on the island of Aeaea because of Circe, an enticing goddess sorceress who turns any man into an
animal. He also comes across the Sirens, bird like women who lure sailors to shipwreck with their
enchanting sounds of happiness, sadness, autumn, and silence, on his way to Thrinacia. Ulysses is a
hero because he possesses the essential characteristics of a typical hero. He proves and displays his
heroic traits of strength, intelligence, and selflessness. Obviously, Ulysses vanquishes an ordeal that
no ordinary man can triumph. When battling forces beyond his control, Ulysses displays heroic

Hamilton Vs. Jefferson DBQ
In the history of America, Thomas Jefferson, the Secretary of State, and Hamilton, the Secretary of the
Treasury, were two of the greatest leaders of our country. Although they both lead the country, that s
where the similarities end as they had opposing views on everything. Jefferson was a republican while
Hamilton was a federalist. Jefferson had been opposed to all of Hamilton s ideas, such as his financial
plan, his interpretation of the powers of the government, his foreign policy, and his vision for the
future of America. Jefferson was against Hamilton s views because his financial plan would ultimately
destroy democracy in America, his interpretation of the powers of ... Show more content on

8). The second reason he interpreted the constitution this way was because if the Constitution were to
be interpreted loosely, it would pose a threat towards Slavery. Jefferson had supported slavery, and did
not want the government to be able to gain more power through the clause, and in the long run,
eventually ending slavery in America. The final reason Jefferson opposed Hamilton s interpretation
was because Hamilton was using his loose interpretation to his advantage, creating a bank to further
push his financial plan into motion, which was the exact opposite of what Jefferson wanted as it went
against all of his beliefs. Jefferson was trying to stop Hamilton s plan, and one way was to stop the
abuse of the Necessary and Proper clause.
Furthermore, Jefferson was against Hamilton s foreign policy. Hamilton was considered to be Pro
British while Jefferson was Pro France. During this time, France and Britain were at war fighting
against each other. Hamilton supported the British and wanted them to win against the French because
he believed in the British s form of government, a monarchy. A monarchy was a government with one

Speech On Healthy Eating Habits
If you actually write down what you are eating on a daily basis, you probably will drop your jaw in
horror. We never think to add up the little snack size candy bar here and the 2 cookies to actually see
the major impact it is having on our diets. The best way to achieve a healthy lifestyle, as far as our
diets go, is eating more fruits and vegetables. We all know it, so why do we head for the potato chips
isle in the grocery store instead of the produce section? Basically it comes down to this. Junk foods
trigger our appetite and leave us longing for more. Ever wonder why eating one little innocent Cheez
it leads to eating half a box? One taste triggers your body to want to keep eating. Now if you could

snack. No, you can not drown it all in fatty blue cheese dressing. That is the same thing as dip, is it
not? A little bit of vinagrette dressing is what your mind should be thinking of. Healthy Eating Habits
#3: Make A Compromise If you are following the American Diet, your palette now craves high salt
and high sugar foods. Quitting is almost never successful when it is done cold turkey. People think
they need to stop all the bad stuff all at once and then 3 days later they burn out and revert to bad
habits. Being healthy is not about missing out on the foods you love. If you want pizza, eat a slice with
a bowl of fruit salad instead of french fries. If you want Cheeze Its, eat a handful with a handful of
grapes instead of half the cheez It box. Ease into it and slowly change your eating habits for the better.

Psychoanalysis Perspective Kate Chopin
Psychoanalysis is a form of therapy which aims to cure mental disorders by investigating the
interaction of conscious and unconscious elements in the mind (Comise Oxford Dictionary). It is
elaborated by Sigmund Freud (1856 1939). Psychoanalysis is a rather detailed and complicated theory
of personality and motivation of what makes people do what they do. It is also a type of therapy.
Simply put, psychoanalysis involves the exploration of a person s unconscious thought processes
through methods such as free association saying whatever comes to mind and dream analysis. It is
included ego, super ego, and id, Defense Mechanism, and Projection. Then for this analyzes I would

Censorship And Censorship Of Music
Throughout the years, music has evolved and transformed in many ways. However, there are
restrictions in today s music, otherwise known as, censorships. A crisis has emerged concerning the
issue of censorship. This argument consists of two possible stances: one, supporting the continuation
of censorship, and two, eliminating the status quo of censorships in the music industry. There have
been countless debates and arguments regarding the issues of censorship ever since the U.S. Congress
passed the Radio Act in 1927 (The History). The time has arrived for censorship to be brought to an
end. The government should release their grip on the censorship of music for the following reasons: it
obstructs the public s freedom of choice, it ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I can t seem. To find myself again. My walls are closing in. (Linkin Park, Crawling ). These lyrics just
show to prove how much emotion was displayed into the song itself. With that said, censorship
sabotages an artist s intent to express themselves. Not only does it limit one s ability to put forth one s
feelings into his or her songs, but it also affects the artist s creativity.
Second of all, music should not be censored because it reduces an artist s capability to be creative. A
musician uses certain lyrics for a reason. Every lyric has some sort of meaning. Whether it be to
rhyme with a subsequent phrase, or going with the flow. Regardless of its purpose, it still has value.
However, creativity is not only limited to the lyrics in a song. Creativity can also be express through
rhythm and tone. The downside, one can only have so much creativity than resides in the tone of a
song. In the song, Never Take Away My Freedom it says, Can take everything I own. You can have
and sing my song. You can never take away my freedom (David Guetta). This means that he could be
stripped of everything that he owns. But his freedom can never be taken away by anyone. This holds
true about music as well. Artists have the ability to create any kind of music they wish. Lyrics help
surpass that limitation of creativity. An artist s lyrics cannot and should not be contained by the power
of the government. It takes time and dedication to create music. Musicians carefully

Board Game Balance Essay
Year published was 2003 and designed by Nicole Johnschwager, Dale Pillars and Nathan Ruff. There s
not a lot of information about this game online or even in the instructions. it s fairly new when it
comes to board games and in my opinion not very well known.
Balance
This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen by
the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each other. For
example, you have teams of two people. You could either have people who ve known each other for
years or people who have only just met and this would decide how well either team would do. I find
this quite abstract and out of the box in terms of balancing but it can also make the ... Show more

I m not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it s designed with the
intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing about
this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams slightly
and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something new about
the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after a lot of
paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you know the
answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves could think
of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more question in
the game that haven t been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for people who
have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams
answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it
right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start
their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I
say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players
more incentive to try guess rather

Social Tensions In The Gest By Robin Hood
On balance, it can be postulated that the medieval tradition of Robin Hood doesn t express social
tensions, as it arguably presents a socially cohesive society. This is particularly evident in the Gest
when Robin lends money to the knight:
If thou hast no more, sayde Robyn,
I woll nat one peny,
And yf thou have need of any more,
More shall lend the .
This is an example of Robin Hood s charity to those who have fallen upon unfortunate circumstances,
had spent all his money and mortgaged his land to save his son. This incident doesn t express social
tension as Robin Hood helps a member of the gentry, who is considered to be his superior in terms of
fifteenth century landed hierarchy. This shows his fluidity in dealing with and helping people

Oppression in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay
Oppression in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler
One of the social issues dealt with in Ibsen s problem plays is the oppression of women by
conventions limiting them to a domestic life. In Hedda Gabler the heroine struggles to satisfy her
ambitious and independent intellect within the narrow role society allows her. Unable to be creative in
the way she desires, Hedda s passions become destructive both to others and herself.
Raised by a general (Ibsen 1444), Hedda has the character of a leader and is wholly unsuited to the
role of suburban housewife (1461). Since she is unable to have the authority she craves, she exercises
power by manipulating her husband George. She tells Thea, I want the power to shape a man s destiny
(1483). Hedda s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Secondly, Hedda achieves a balance of security and independence by marrying a dull academic, who
is easily dominated and occupies himself rooting around in libraries (1466). But in doing so she shuts
herself within a passionless marriage as tedious as a long train ride with a dull companion (1467 68).
Finally, Hedda alleviates her boredom by turning to Judge Brack as a confidant: someone with whom
she can flirt and speak openly as an equal. But Brack is not a loyal friend (1461); rather, just as Thea s
husband finds [her] useful to take care of him (1458), Brack exploits Hedda s isolation and
powerlessness for his own pleasure.
Hedda s oppressed desires become destructive, first to Eilert and Thea, and then to herself. In addition
to envying Thea for her creative union with Eilert, Hedda hates her for taming a man she idealizes as a
rebel for his past licentiousness, defying social mores. After taunting the reformed Eilert into a night
of debauchery, Hedda imagines him returning as a Dionysian hero:
I can see him. With a crown of vine leaves in his hair. Burning and unashamed! . . .Then he ll be
himself again! He ll be a free man for the rest of his days. (1483)
However, Eilert s night of carousing ends sordidly in a brawl that ruins his reputation once again.
Hedda then modifies her first ideal and urges him to defy life itself by suicide (1495).

Summary Of The Plastic Pink Flamingo A Natural History
In the twentieth century, pink flamingo decorations began popping up everywhere. Jennifer Price
explains why they became so popular in her essay, The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History.
Price believes that American culture only focuses on how the fad began, the irony of how they treats
the real flamingo, as well as the bright colors that are portrayed. The beginning of the popularity of
flamingos is explained in detail during the beginning of the essay. Flamingos became synonymous
with wealth and pizzazz which lead to everyone wanting one. A Florida hotel, the flamingo, was
visited by the rich. Since the country was just coming out of the depression, everyone wished to
appear rich leading to more hotels being built to cater to an eager middle class. The upper class had a
fancy hotel, and all of the country decided to copy them. While the United States were obsessed with
flamingos in the 1900s, Florida residents hunted the bird in prior years. In her second paragraph, Price
calls this new found fad ironic. She explains that Americans hunted flamingos to extinction in Florida
in the late 1850s. Any animal being hunted that much is a travesty, yet not even a century later,
Americans used this graceful bird as a lawn ornament to express leisure and extravagance. These
powerful adjectives demonstrate the level of disregard people ... Show more content on

Welfare Definition Of Economics By Alfred Marshall
WELFARE DEFINITION OF ECONOMICS
About the Author: Alfred Marshall (26th July 1842 13th July 1924)
The Welfare Definition of the subject of economics was put forward by the pioneer neoclassical
economist from England, Dr. Alfred Marshall, in his book Principles of Economics published in 1890.
Marshall, who was born in the London suburb of Clapham, was educated at Merchant s Taylor School.
He showed tremendous mathematical aptitude and participated in Cambridge University s most
revered degree competition Mathematical Tripos, where he secured the second rank, bettered only by
Lord Rayleigh. This secured a position of fellow in St. John s University, Cambridge and along with
mathematics, he got himself involved rigorously in the study of philosophical foundations and moral
basis of human behaviour and social organisation. He became a lecturer of Moral Sciences at St. John
s in 1868, with a specialisation in Political Economy , as Economics was then called. He henceforth
worked tirelessly in transforming the subject into a more logical and scientific one. Marshall met
Mary Paley, a student in the informal lectures for women by the Cambridge University and taught her
Political Economy. In 1877, they decided to get married and this forced Marshall to leave his position
in Cambridge due to the celibacy rule in place. He joined as the first Principal at University College,

By instituting a right to health care the U.S. could possibly lower cost, and make health care services
more affordable for everyone. According to a 2012 study, using a single payer system, in which all
citizens are guaranteed a right to health care, total public and private health care spending could be
lowered by $592 billion and up to 1.8 trillion over the next decade due to lowered administrative and
prescription drug cost. The cost of healthcare in America has increased ( Health Affairs). A study done
by Consumer reports in 2012 stated that paying for health care is the top financial problem for US
households. In Light of health care s expanding costs, many Americans are delaying or not receiving
treatment, as well as having trouble paying for care. According to a study done by the American

The obvious benefit of targeting this particular blue chip market segment as addressed in the second
problem could be both monetary and that a greater number of market leads can be fed into the
software when mining a larger market and could lead to minimization of the confidence interval error
ratio. However mid size markets and companies who are players in this segment should not be
ignored. The problem in ignoring them is that MarketSoft is leaving a large segment of the market

Problem 1 can be addressed by following the open ended questions with specific targeted questions

what the need is and ultimately help refine the product characteristics with more finesse.
A suitable recommendation to address the second problem is that these middle markets should also be
targeted and the software should be refined to cater to these current needs with an ability to expand
along with the client s business needs. To make MarketSoft accessible to also companies that

Theme Of Diction In Candide
Voltaire uses the literary device of distortion throughout his novel candide. By exaggerating and
satirizing the adventures of the characters, Voltaire successfully illuminates his underlying ideas about
the the tyranny and persecution by the elite in the church and state that existed in 1694 1778. Through
the character Candide and his adventures, Voltaire exhorts his audience to address his subversive ideas
with laughter and horror and then to address the problems in the world. In Candide Voltaire
successfully employs distortion through the use of diction in names and titles, imagery in the places he
creates, and exaggerated characterization to express his very specific ideas about wealth, religion and
human nature .
First of all, Voltaire is a master in his word choice and his clever use of distortion in the names he
creates in this novel convey many levels of meaning. For instance, the main character is dubbed
Candide which is derived from the latin word candidum. The many meanings of this root are white;
pure; sincere, honest, and upright. This word choice perfectly describes the protagonist because he is
the ultimate optimist. For example, Candide s metaphysico theologico cosmolo nigology teacher,
Pangloss teaches him his philosophy for life which is This is all for the best (15). Candide as an open,
almost gullible character absorbs all of Panglosses teaching without question and accepts that this is
how the world it suppose to work. Candide s hyperbolic

At the same time, being on time may influence substantially interpersonal relations and it is a perfect
characteristic of an individual. In this respect it should be said that if a person is late, it is a bit
irritating, but if he/she is late regularly, than it is quite a disturbing fact. On the one hand, it proves that
this person do not really respect those people who are waiting for him/her. On the other hand, it proves
that this person is absolutely irresponsible because being late means that the person is unable to do
his/her duties well. In contrast, being on time proves that the person is highly responsible and is ready
to fulfill his/her duty without delay. Such characteristics of an individual are particularly important in
army. At any rate, I, in person, know that I cannot be late because I cannot be late for half an hour or
even less late and just excuse myself and continue my work. In fact, I am conscious of the fact that
even a minute of delay will lead to the failure of the entire operation that, in the military is absolutely
unacceptable. It seems to be obvious that the consequences of the lack of punctuality may lead to
disastrous effects in my work. But I can definitely say that I will lose my job and this will be not the
worst outcome of my lack of punctuality, because in the army the schedule is everything. However,

provide much information about what escalated the incident between the officers and Sterling or what
prompted an officer to fire his weapon. A witness, however, described police as aggressive and said

Teaching Argument Evaluation in An Introductory...
Teaching Argument Evaluation in An Introductory Philosophy Course
ABSTRACT: One of the greatest challenges in teaching an introductory philosophy course is
convincing students that there are, indeed, reliable standards for the evaluation of arguments. Too
often introductory students criticize an argument simply by contesting the truth of one of its claims.
And far too often, the only claim in an argument that meets serious objections is its conclusion. For
many students, the idea that an argument displays a structure which can be evaluated on its own terms
is not very difficult to grasp. Unfortunately, the idea is grasped only in an abstract way, with
insufficient appreciation of how structural problems manifest themselves in concrete ... Show more

The introductory philosophy student s inability to recognize argument structure presents us with a
problem that cannot be addressed simply by teaching logic. The problem that confronts us addresses a
fundamental pedagogical concern: Our task is to instill in the student the habit of clear thinking. When
we send our students out into the world, we have to make sure that they re prepared for it. This is not
simply a matter of providing them with tools. We ve looked at logic that way and we ve approached
teaching logic that way for far too long. Certainly logic may be employed as a tool; it can serve as an
incredibly powerful tool, as we who teach it know full well. But it s not logic per se that we should be
concerned with in our introductory courses. We want to teach our students how to think clearly and
responsibly. There is certainly a moral edge to this view of the situation, and the manner in which we
approach our pedagogical concern will not be without further philosophical prejudice. Ours is
Aristotelian. We have found that giving our students the basics of term logic serves our purpose well.
We do not introduce it as a tool for argument analysis a strong case can easily be made for the
superiority of truth functional logic in that respect we present it, rather, in the way that a kindergarten
teacher brings toys into the classroom. And we make it clear that term logic has limitations it s not an
all purpose tool.

Wildfire Effects
Whitebark pine (Pinus albicaulis) is a keystone species (Tomback et al. 2001), forming subalpine and
treeline forests that supply food and shelter for hundreds of plant and animal species. This trait makes
whitebark pine a quintessential high elevation conifer and it forms unique habitat types with both
geographic and successional variation that support considerable biodiversity across the higher
mountains of the United states and Canada. (Tomback et al. 2001, Tomback and Achuff 2010).
Whitebark pine is a foundation species. The tree stands create a stable environment for other trees and
plants by holding rocks and soil on slopes where other trees cannot survive (Arno and Hoff 1989). It

Wildfire and prescribed burns have a variety of impacts on wildlife and habitats, both direct and
indirect (Wasserman 2015). Direct effects include fatality, emigration out of burned areas, immigration
into new areas. Indirect effects is changes in vegetative structure, diversity, species composition, and
other components of their habitat. Species responses to wildfire depends on these direct and indirect
effects of fire and how fire regimes and fire severity impacted the landscape (Fulé et al. 2003,
Reynolds et al. 2013). Herbivores, such as elk, deer, and bighorn sheep, respond in post fire
wilderness due to the open dense canopies that allow an increase in understory plants that herbivores
feed on (Bailey and Whittam 2002). For example, elk prefer forage quality that provide their required
calorie intake to allow them to successfully produce milk. During early succession, mid succession,
and late succession of post fire habitat, forage quality is at its highest during early succession stages in
both mesic and xeric sites (Swanson et al. 2011). This suggest that herbivores, like elk, would utilize
these early succession post fire areas. Carnivores and mesocarnivores respond to post fire changes as
well. Male american black bears and grizzly bears used burned sites increasing their home range post
fire. Canids, such as the coyote, use both burned and unburned areas due to food availability
(Cunningham et al 2002). The Mount Washburn sites are in landscapes that experienced high severity
fires and have an abundance of whitebark pine deadfall in the area. This overabundance of deadfall
might detter larger herbivores and carnivores decreasing wildlife species diversity. Wildlife species
diversity is an intuitive way to determine an ecosystem s health and status (Edwards and Abivardi
1998). Wildlife species diversity boosts ecosystem productivity due to diversification

Essay on Water diuresis in man
Water Diuresis in Man Practical Report
INTRODUCTION
The body needs to maintain equilibrium to function properly in everyday life. The most important
substance it must regulate is water; water is everywhere in our body and its balance is essential for
proper body function.
A very carefully regulated process is solute concentration. If there is a sudden increase in water which
enters the extracellular fluid, sodium ions will then contribute less to the extracellular solute
concentration as the ratio between water and solute has now changed. Osmolality is the amount of
solute in a kilogram, hence the osmolality in the extracellular space has also decreased.

desmopressin and exercise) differed from that in the control subjects. Explain the following (including
the underlying mechanisms):
i. why there is a delay in the onset of the diuresis after water loading in the control subject (A); ii. the
effects of administered desmopressin on the diuresis (subject B); iii. the mechanisms by which a
single session of vigorous exercise affects the diuresis produced by the water load (subject C).
After drinking water, the control and test subjects had gradual increase of urine flow, reaching a peak
then decreasing again, whereas the desmopressin subject had decreased urine flow after taking the
hormone, thereafter plateauing. According to the Dunnett s t test between the urine flow of the
subjects, the urine flow of the treatment subjects was significantly different to that of the control.
There is a delay in the onset of diuresis after loading in the control subject as it takes time for the
water to be filtered in the body. Water is absorbed from the gut into the extracellular fluid.
Osmoreceptors from the posterior pituitary detect the water through cell stretch and initiate responses
that control ADH secretion (Widmaier et al., 2014). Fluids are filtered through the kidneys and the
excess water is transported to the bladder where it will then be excreted.
Desmopressin decreases the urine volume excreted. Desmopressin is a synthetic substitute for anti
diuretic hormone (ADH). ADH

not really allow any of these groups to prosper in this time of history, but some did prosper more than

Fourteen Points by Woodrow Wilson Essay
World War I was a period when countries faced economic, political, social, and cultural problems,
which threatened the survival of democracy and freedom and needed a fast and effective resolution
which was presented to the world by Woodrow Wilson called the Fourteen Points. The Fourteen
Points offered the world a democratic resolute, that was effective, reliable and a basis for long lasting
peace, unlike the Treaty of Versailles which was a non democratic approach to the problem since it
contained a war guilt clause which forced Germany to admit sole responsibility for starting World War

The last way that the 14 Points would make the world safe for democracy was the 14th point which
stated that a League of Nations was to be formed where all the countries of the world would have a
say in political decisions like territorial boundaries of big and small states alike, and would try to keep
world peace.
The first way that the Fourteen Points were to make the world a safe place for democracy was that
they would give the nations and people of Europe a say in the boundaries of their countries and would
allow the creation of new nations like Serbia and Montenegro, Romania, and Poland, the points would
also allow lost territory to be given back to the countries who lost it. By doing this the Fourteen points
would have set up a base for democracy to expand because the new nations would then willingly
accept democracy and would expand it even further. An example of this is the Vietnamese people who
after the introduction of democracy were beginning to demand the same political rights enjoyed by
people in Western Nations. The problem that the Fourteen Points were facing was the European
leaders of England, France, and Italy who didn t want to have a peaceful resolution, but wanted to

What Is The Cost Of The Alyeska Pipeline
Introduction
Throughout the 1970 s and 1980 s, utility industries struggled to manage their nuclear power plant
construction prudently in the public eye. Throughout this era, litigation chastised the mismanaged
organizations to the tune of billions of dollars.
In this same era, Arab countries declared an oil embargo in the United States, oil prices soared and

Three Major Classes of Fingerprints Essay
The three basic pattern classifications of fingerprints established by Sir Edward Richard Henry in
1896 are the arch, the loop, and the whorl. In an arch pattern, ridges flow from one side of the finger
directly to the opposite side without any deltas. This type of print accounts for about 5% of all
fingerprints. There are two types of arch patterns, the plain arch and tented arch. In a loop pattern, the
ridges flow from one side of the finger, than they curve, than pass an imaginary line drawn from the
delta to the core, and flow out the same side of the finger. They contain one delta on the opposite side
of the opening. This type of print accounts for about 70% of all fingerprints. There are two types of

A double loop whorl is the type of pattern that consists of two separate sets of loop formations,
shoulders, and deltas. An accidental whorl is the type of pattern that is composed of two types of
patterns with two or more deltas. A central pocket loop is the type of pattern that consists of one or
more recurving ridges or an obstacle at a right angle to the line of flow with two deltas. Also, when an
imaginary line is drawn, no recurving ridge near the inner pattern area is cut or touched. Sub classes
are important because they help distinguish specific prints from others quickly, therefore illuminating
some possible suspects right away.
There are three types of fingerprints that could be left at a crime scene. The three types are latent,
patent, and plastic. Latent fingerprints are made from the oil and sweat on the surface of a person s
skin. This type of print is invisible by the naked eye and requires processing for visibility purposes.
The process can be done using chemicals or powder. Patent fingerprints are made from blood, ink,
dirt, or grease and they are visible by the naked eye. Plastic fingerprints are made when a person
presses on wax, paint, or soap and they are visible by the naked eye. The three types of fingerprints
help investigators discover who was at the crime scene which can possibly lead to the arrest of
suspects.
When collecting inked prints, there is a certain process that needs to be followed. First, a person s

that is keenly perceptive of and responsive to issues of acculturation, values, identity, worldview,

Piracy of Digitized Music Essay
The music industry has developed in a series of technological advances, from the development of
vinyl to the digitization of music and the creation of formats such as compact disc (CD), digital
audiotape, and minidisk (Leyshon 2001). Although the digitized music facilitates consumers, it causes
the appearance of piracy and the drop of sales. The subject of piracy has occurred for a certain period.
Since 1920 s, music piracy has appeared into the world with the production of cassette tapes, voice
recorders, and CDs, which brought a new kind of event to court. Moreover, music piracy has become
a worldwide issue due to the development of downloading music via the internet.

The majority of released recordings (approximately 85%),cannot even balance revenues and
expenditures. In addition, 15% profitable recordings are relied on greatly by the recording companies,
who use them to subsidise less profitable types of music to cover the costs of developing new artists,
and to keep their businesses operational, while downloaders often do not focus on that. Finally, the
most direct victims are the creative artists which include musicians, singers, songwriters and
producers, for the royalties and fees have not been earned by themselves. Virtually about 95% of
artists rely on these fees to make a living and their reputations which are discredited by the inferior
quality of pirated copies spreaded to the public.
Therefore, music piracy is destroying both the music industry and anything that relies on the music
industry.
Positive effects
However, music piracy also brings benefits to the music industry. At first, it is a way access to get the
departed music that is no longer to republish. As a result of the way of constructing contracts, the
music record labels are not holden by artists themselves that their new label is not allowed to produce
as the old one, and if the old label decides not to republish anymore or release the songs, the music is
generally dead. Music downloading is the only way for most people to get these dead songs. In the
second place, pirating music

Android Application Development Fundamentals
Application Fundamentals
Quickview
Android applications are composed of one or more application components (activities, services,
content providers, and broadcast receivers) Each component performs a different role in the overall
application behavior, and each one can be activated individually (even by other applications) The
manifest file must declare all components in the application and should also declare all application
requirements, such as the minimum version of Android required and any hardware configurations
required Non code application resources (images, strings, layout files, etc.) should include alternatives
for different device configurations (such as different strings for different languages ... Show more

Another component, such as an activity, can start the service and let it run or bind to it in order to
interact with it. A service is implemented as a subclass of Service and you can learn more about it in
the Services developer guide.
Content providers A content provider manages a shared set of application data. You can store the data
in the file system, an SQLite database, on the web, or any other persistent storage location your
application can access. Through the content provider, other applications can query or even modify the
data (if the content provider allows it). For example, the Android system provides a content provider
that manages the user s contact information. As such, any application with the proper permissions can
query part of the content provider (such as ContactsContract.Data) to read and write information about
a particular person. Content providers are also useful for reading and writing data that is private to
your application and not shared. For example, the Note Pad sample application uses a content provider
to save notes. A content provider is implemented as a subclass of ContentProvider and must
implement a standard set of APIs that enable other applications to perform transactions. For more
information, see the Content Providers developer guide.
Broadcast receivers A broadcast receiver is a component that responds to system wide broadcast

The Effect Of The Mafia On Italy s Economy
The ability of the citizens of a country to become entrepreneurs and stimulate the economy by starting
up companies is essential for the success of a country. There are many variables that can have a
negative effect on an economy and one that is currently hurting Italy s economy is the mafia. An
indirect side effect of the mafia s impact on the Gross domestic Profit is the government s ability to
aid small business growth. Thus, the government must spend more money to help businesses to
manifest and to put Italy in the best situation to have a raging national economy. Gross Domestic
Profit stands for the measure of a nation s total economic activity. In more relative terms, Gross
Domestic Profit represents the monetary value of all goods and ... Show more content on

First of all, there are different types of Italian mafias, depending upon which region that they are
located in and the market that they are exploiting. Italian organized crime is known all over the world,
to the point that the term Mafia is now understood across the globe as referring to the organized
criminal underworld. Literature on the subject is abundant, ranging from history, sociology and
criminology to fiction and plain entertainment. The distinctive character, looks, habits, idiosyncrasies
and jargon of the Mafiosi have been described, analyzed, explained and imitated. Apparently,
everybody is familiar with Italian organized crime (Europol 4). The top three mafia organizations
operating in Italy are Cosa Nostra, La Camorra and the Ndrangheta. Cosa Nostra is located on the
island of Sicily as the Mafiosi s main activity consists of their forced protection and they have strong
ties to Sicily s government. La Camorra is located in the region of Campania, but more specifically in
the capital: Napoli. La Camorra s main focus is controlling the food and coffee markets, black market,
as well as some drug trafficking. The Camorra clan, in turn, acquired from this relationship (1)
considerable economic resources from the firms (2) the consequent systematic control of economic
activity in the territorial area, the possibility of furnishing jobs and a marginal quota of the firm s
income, and hence widespread social consensus and even open legitimacy; (3) finally, through the
politicians, they secured the necessary institutional cover, in particular with the police and with
possible intervention in eventual judicial proceedings. This original relationship between the Camorra
and illegal non organized activities has not fundamentally changed over time, but has become stronger
and deeper as a result of two factors. (1) The omertà of its victims who do not denounce extortion for
fear of reprisal, but also not to bring

Test Sample Vs. The Benchmark With 98 % Confidence
Therefore, there is a significant difference between the average scores of the test sample compared to
the benchmark with 98% confidence. In this case, the claim can be made that the test sample is
statistically superior to the average benchmark by at least (3.25 2)/3.25 = 38.5 % and at most (3.25
2)/2 = 62.5% with 98% confidence.
SOLUTIONS, FIXES, EMBELLISHMENTS, AND IMPROVEMENTS
The main issues found in heuristics #7 and #8 are partially due to the lack of awareness found in the
RVCS. Specifically, the problems occur when one member of the group, denoted here as User A ,
needs to make necessary changes to a particular artifact or document, only to find that another group
member, denoted here as User B , has checked the artifact or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net
...
Moreover, upon checking the artifact back into the repository, User B can use the same comments
made at checkout, or discard the checkout comments and make more accurate comments at check in
time. Finally, the Mack Truck Theory and putting all the eggs in one basket are words of warning and
wisdom to be must be heeded. More than one manager should be given the RVCS administrative
passwords so that in the event of an emergency, the checked out state of an artifact or document can
easily be reversed and undone. Then the group member who originally owned the lock can be notified
of the emergency reversal of his or her checkout. With this software embellishment, suggestion and
best practice, the issue no longer impedes further progress from being made. The worst case scenario
is that task completion may be delayed, but less significantly. As group members now know what
changes are being made and how long it will take to make them, more informed decisions can be
made in a shorter time. Finally, these proposed changes and best practices regarding the RVCS
automatically address the issue found the sixth heuristic. Although the project manager may find the
task of accurately evaluating and accessing one s productivity and proficiency using the RVCS a bit
cumbersome, an administrative feature can be added to the RVCS to address the issue. A report or
database view of check ins sorted by user is an option that can be made available to the manager as to

The Civilians Of Ancient Greece
World History C375 Task 2 Serra Bauman 000505328 Part A The civilians of Ancient Greece had to
be resourceful. Most civilizations had rivers to channel, irrigate, and predict. Ancient Greece is a
series of islands. This means that the people of Ancient Greece had to learn to live on the ocean. They
had to deal with being more vulnerable to land attacks as they were used to battling with ships. And
they also had to deal with huge ocean storms. These storms could destroy a new society with no
notice. (Acrobatic, 2014) There were good things about being a seafaring civilization. As the Ancient
Greeks migrated to the coast of the Mediterranean, and Black Seas, they were able to put all of their
energy into maritime trade, eventually making them dominant of the busiest waterway in the ancient
world. (Acrobatic, 2014) Persian people, or people of Arya , settled south of Iran in the plains of Pars.
These plains were very fertile. This fertility allowed the Persian s to grow and expand on sea and land.
(Acrobatic, 2014) Part B In Greece, a democratic society was created. This society thought highly of
citizen participation, and the unending search of the ultimate philosophical truths. Being responsible
as a group was far more important than individual rights, or freedom. This created an open society that
was free to open expression and questioning authority. (Acrobatic, 2014) The love of wisdom , or
study of philosophy was possible in the open society of Greece.

The concept of positioning Positioning appears to have evolved from market segmentation, targeting and market structure changes during the 1960s and the early 1970s (Sekhar, 1989). In the last few years, however, writers on the subject have credited Ries and Trout for popularising the term. In their work, Ries and Trout (1986) concluded that, Positioning starts with the product. A piece of merchandise, a service, a company, an institution, or even a person . . . They go on to argue that positioning is not what is done to the product/ service, but rather what is done to the mind of the prospect, ``. . . positioning shifts the emphasis of marketing from the product to the battle for your mind. The emphasis of their debate (supported almost exclusively by their consultancy and personal experiences) centered around the communications/ advertising elements of positioning. This theme has been adopted by Kotler (2000) who provides the following definition, Positioning is the act of designing the company s offering and image to occupy a distinct place in the target market s mind. Although the definitions of Ries and Trout, and Kotler are among the most widely quoted, a single, universally accepted definition has yet to emerge. At the same time, several terms such as positioning (Kotler, 2000), position (Smith and Lusch, 1976), ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Impact Of Online Communities On Physical Social... Abstract Nowadays, people spend much time in online communities to network with virtual friends and play role plays. They provide an advantage for people with special needs who cannot leave the house, because they benefit from the accessibility of the internet. Moreover, they help people who often move to stay in touch with their friends. Nevertheless, spending too much time in online communities leads to drawbacks in the development of the user s personality. More energy is dedicated to the virtual life than to real life and people lose track of their personalities while busy building online ones. Also, frequent users of online communities have difficulties beginning meaningful real life relationships. Virtual friendships are shallow ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... People meet online to run blogs, meaning online diaries, share information and photos, exchange Youtube videos or unionize in a political, cultural, social and economic way (Das Internet als soziales Erlebnis, 2007). But not only can real life people get together and share common interests, they can also abandon their individual personalities and become somebody else: Second Life, a virtual world, allows their members to create an avatar of their choice and guide it through its world with virtual people, entertainment, opportunities and semi virtual marketplaces (Second Life, 2008). According to Computer Industry Almanac Inc. (2007), more than 1.2 billion people use the internet worldwide and the largest online community has over 200 million members. Nevertheless, the effect on physical relationships must be investigated. Although online communities provide social advantages for certain groups of people, they cannot replace real life relationships due to their limitation of peoples abilities of developing their own personalities and the loss of the sense of profound interpersonal relationships. Discussion Online communities provide social advantages for two groups of people. First of all, persons with certain handicaps that limit their mobility can benefit from the easy handling and accessibility of the internet. They get the chance to interact with other people disregarding their special needs. For example, someone who cannot leave their house due to an illness is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Ulysses As A Hero In The Adventures Of Ulysses A hero is always described as one who stands for the common good of people, whether it be an archetype of a typical hero from fabled descend or those who are unexpectedly deemed a hero in everyday lives. Bernard Evslin s adventure fiction, The Adventures of Ulysses, illustrates the life of Ulysses ten years after fighting alongside the Greeks in the Trojan War. He encounters trials and tribulations such as, unknown seas and numerous inconceivable monsters to hopefully return to his rightful place as king of Ithaca. Some of his trials take place on the islands of Lotusland, Aeaea, and a narrow strait to Thrinacia. On Lotusland, Ulysses is met with an inescapable urge to sleep because Morpheus, the son of Hypnos and nephew of Hades, orders the natives to feed Ulysses and his crew intoxicating flowers to make them fall into a deep slumber. Ulysses also finds himself with a challenge on the island of Aeaea because of Circe, an enticing goddess sorceress who turns any man into an animal. He also comes across the Sirens, bird like women who lure sailors to shipwreck with their enchanting sounds of happiness, sadness, autumn, and silence, on his way to Thrinacia. Ulysses is a hero because he possesses the essential characteristics of a typical hero. He proves and displays his heroic traits of strength, intelligence, and selflessness. Obviously, Ulysses vanquishes an ordeal that no ordinary man can triumph. When battling forces beyond his control, Ulysses displays heroic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Jefferson DBQ In the history of America, Thomas Jefferson, the Secretary of State, and Hamilton, the Secretary of the Treasury, were two of the greatest leaders of our country. Although they both lead the country, that s where the similarities end as they had opposing views on everything. Jefferson was a republican while Hamilton was a federalist. Jefferson had been opposed to all of Hamilton s ideas, such as his financial plan, his interpretation of the powers of the government, his foreign policy, and his vision for the future of America. The second reason he interpreted the constitution this way was because if the Constitution were to be interpreted loosely, it would pose a threat towards Slavery. Jefferson had supported slavery, and did not want the government to be able to gain more power through the clause, and in the long run, eventually ending slavery in America. The final reason Jefferson opposed Hamilton s interpretation was because Hamilton was using his loose interpretation to his advantage, creating a bank to further push his financial plan into motion, which was the exact opposite of what Jefferson wanted as it went against all of his beliefs. Jefferson was trying to stop Hamilton s plan, and one way was to stop the abuse of the Necessary and Proper clause. Furthermore, Jefferson was against Hamilton s foreign policy. Hamilton was considered to be Pro British while Jefferson was Pro France. During this time, France and Britain were at war fighting against each other. Hamilton supported the British and wanted them to win against the French because he believed in the British s form of government, a monarchy. A monarchy was a government with one ... A crisis has emerged concerning the issue of censorship. This argument consists of two possible stances: one, supporting the continuation of censorship, and two, eliminating the status quo of censorships in the music industry. There have been countless debates and arguments regarding the issues of censorship ever since the U.S. Congress passed the Radio Act in 1927 (The History). The time has arrived for censorship to be brought to an end. I can t seem. To find myself again. My walls are closing in. (Linkin Park, Crawling ). These lyrics just show to prove how much emotion was displayed into the song itself. With that said, censorship sabotages an artist s intent to express themselves. Not only does it limit one s ability to put forth one s feelings into his or her songs, but it also affects the artist s creativity. Second of all, music should not be censored because it reduces an artist s capability to be creative. A musician uses certain lyrics for a reason. Every lyric has some sort of meaning. Whether it be to rhyme with a subsequent phrase, or going with the flow. Regardless of its purpose, it still has value. However, creativity is not only limited to the lyrics in a song. Creativity can also be express through rhythm and tone. The downside, one can only have so much creativity than resides in the tone of a song. In the song, Never Take Away My Freedom it says, Can take everything I own. You can have and sing my song. You can never take away my freedom (David Guetta). This means that he could be stripped of everything that he owns. But his freedom can never be taken away by anyone. This holds true about music as well. Artists have the ability to create any kind of music they wish. Lyrics help surpass that limitation of creativity. An artist s lyrics cannot and should not be contained by the power of the government. It takes time and dedication to create music. Musicians carefully ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There s not a lot of information about this game online or even in the instructions. it s fairly new when it comes to board games and in my opinion not very well known. Balance This was the reason I chose this game for my summative. The balance of this game is more chosen by the players than the actual game itself. The game is based off the players knowledge of each other. For example, you have teams of two people. I m not one to play board games often but I do enjoy pulling this one out. it s designed with the intention of older people playing it with questions that are explicit in nature. Another great thing about this game is the replayability in one sitting. once you have ended one game, change the teams slightly and now you have a completely new game ( of course you might have learned something new about the player you are now teamed with). The game does have one flaw and that is that after a lot of paying you tend to learn about each person so much that if you play with them again you know the answers that they will write down one thing I thought of was that the players themselves could think of questions that could fit into each category of the game. this would mean there a more question in the game that haven t been answered before and therefore not make the game less fun for people who have played it a lot. Another way would be to introduce a rule where if a player guesses their teams answer wrong an opposing player can step in voluntarily and take a guess at their answer. if they get it right they get to move their piece the same amount of spaces forward as on the dice and get to start their turn there, but if they get it wrong they have to move back half the amount of spaces. the reason I say back half the amount of spaces is to make the reward bigger than the risk. this would give players more incentive to try guess rather ... Oppression in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler Essay Oppression in Ibsen s Hedda Gabler One of the social issues dealt with in Ibsen s problem plays is the oppression of women by conventions limiting them to a domestic life. In Hedda Gabler the heroine struggles to satisfy her ambitious and independent intellect within the narrow role society allows her. Unable to be creative in the way she desires, Hedda s passions become destructive both to others and herself. Raised by a general (Ibsen 1444), Hedda has the character of a leader and is wholly unsuited to the role of suburban housewife (1461). Finally, Hedda alleviates her boredom by turning to Judge Brack as a confidant: someone with whom she can flirt and speak openly as an equal. But Brack is not a loyal friend (1461); rather, just as Thea s husband finds [her] useful to take care of him (1458), Brack exploits Hedda s isolation and powerlessness for his own pleasure. Hedda s oppressed desires become destructive, first to Eilert and Thea, and then to herself. In addition to envying Thea for her creative union with Eilert, Hedda hates her for taming a man she idealizes as a rebel for his past licentiousness, defying social mores. After taunting the reformed Eilert into a night of debauchery, Hedda imagines him returning as a Dionysian hero: I can see him. With a crown of vine leaves in his hair. Burning and unashamed! . . .Then he ll be himself again! He ll be a free man for the rest of his days. • 17. Summary Of The Plastic Pink Flamingo A Natural History In the twentieth century, pink flamingo decorations began popping up everywhere. Jennifer Price explains why they became so popular in her essay, The Plastic Pink Flamingo: A Natural History. Price believes that American culture only focuses on how the fad began, the irony of how they treats the real flamingo, as well as the bright colors that are portrayed. The beginning of the popularity of flamingos is explained in detail during the beginning of the essay. Flamingos became synonymous with wealth and pizzazz which lead to everyone wanting one. A Florida hotel, the flamingo, was visited by the rich. Since the country was just coming out of the depression, everyone wished to appear rich leading to more hotels being built to cater to an eager middle class. The upper class had a fancy hotel, and all of the country decided to copy them. While the United States were obsessed with flamingos in the 1900s, Florida residents hunted the bird in prior years. In her second paragraph, Price calls this new found fad ironic. She explains that Americans hunted flamingos to extinction in Florida in the late 1850s. Teaching Argument Evaluation in An Introductory Philosophy Course ABSTRACT: One of the greatest challenges in teaching an introductory philosophy course is convincing students that there are, indeed, reliable standards for the evaluation of arguments. Too often introductory students criticize an argument simply by contesting the truth of one of its claims. And far too often, the only claim in an argument that meets serious objections is its conclusion. For many students, the idea that an argument displays a structure which can be evaluated on its own terms is not very difficult to grasp. The introductory philosophy student s inability to recognize argument structure presents us with a problem that cannot be addressed simply by teaching logic. The problem that confronts us addresses a fundamental pedagogical concern: Our task is to instill in the student the habit of clear thinking. When we send our students out into the world, we have to make sure that they re prepared for it. This is not simply a matter of providing them with tools. We ve looked at logic that way and we ve approached teaching logic that way for far too long. Certainly logic may be employed as a tool; it can serve as an incredibly powerful tool, as we who teach it know full well. But it s not logic per se that we should be concerned with in our introductory courses. We want to teach our students how to think clearly and responsibly. There is certainly a moral edge to this view of the situation, and the manner in which we approach our pedagogical concern will not be without further philosophical prejudice. Ours is Aristotelian. We have found that giving our students the basics of term logic serves our purpose well. We do not introduce it as a tool for argument analysis a strong case can easily be made for the superiority of truth functional logic in that respect we present it, rather, in the way that a kindergarten teacher brings toys into the classroom. Wildfire and prescribed burns have a variety of impacts on wildlife and habitats, both direct and indirect (Wasserman 2015). Direct effects include fatality, emigration out of burned areas, immigration into new areas. Indirect effects is changes in vegetative structure, diversity, species composition, and other components of their habitat. Species responses to wildfire depends on these direct and indirect effects of fire and how fire regimes and fire severity impacted the landscape (Fulé et al. 2003, Reynolds et al. 2013). Herbivores, such as elk, deer, and bighorn sheep, respond in post fire wilderness due to the open dense canopies that allow an increase in understory plants that herbivores feed on (Bailey and Whittam 2002). For example, elk prefer forage quality that provide their required calorie intake to allow them to successfully produce milk. During early succession, mid succession, and late succession of post fire habitat, forage quality is at its highest during early succession stages in both mesic and xeric sites (Swanson et al. 2011). This suggest that herbivores, like elk, would utilize these early succession post fire areas. Carnivores and mesocarnivores respond to post fire changes as well. Male american black bears and grizzly bears used burned sites increasing their home range post fire. Canids, such as the coyote, use both burned and unburned areas due to food availability (Cunningham et al 2002). The Mount Washburn sites are in landscapes that experienced high severity fires and have an abundance of whitebark pine deadfall in the area. This overabundance of deadfall might detter larger herbivores and carnivores decreasing wildlife species diversity. The most important substance it must regulate is water; water is everywhere in our body and its balance is essential for proper body function. A very carefully regulated process is solute concentration. If there is a sudden increase in water which enters the extracellular fluid, sodium ions will then contribute less to the extracellular solute concentration as the ratio between water and solute has now changed. After drinking water, the control and test subjects had gradual increase of urine flow, reaching a peak then decreasing again, whereas the desmopressin subject had decreased urine flow after taking the hormone, thereafter plateauing. According to the Dunnett s t test between the urine flow of the subjects, the urine flow of the treatment subjects was significantly different to that of the control. There is a delay in the onset of diuresis after loading in the control subject as it takes time for the water to be filtered in the body. Water is absorbed from the gut into the extracellular fluid. Osmoreceptors from the posterior pituitary detect the water through cell stretch and initiate responses that control ADH secretion (Widmaier et al., 2014). Fluids are filtered through the kidneys and the excess water is transported to the bladder where it will then be excreted. Desmopressin decreases the urine volume excreted. There are three types of fingerprints that could be left at a crime scene. The three types are latent, patent, and plastic. Latent fingerprints are made from the oil and sweat on the surface of a person s skin. This type of print is invisible by the naked eye and requires processing for visibility purposes. The process can be done using chemicals or powder. Patent fingerprints are made from blood, ink, dirt, or grease and they are visible by the naked eye. Plastic fingerprints are made when a person presses on wax, paint, or soap and they are visible by the naked eye. In all psychological and biological assessment, the use of culturally attuned assessments is top priority. We may define culturally informed psychological assessment as an approach to evaluation that is keenly perceptive of and responsive to issues of acculturation, values, identity, worldview, language, and other culture related variables as they may impact the evaluation process or the interpretation of resulting data (Cohen, Swerdlik, Sturman, 2013). Through this process key individuals contribute to the understanding of the client including family, friends, and coworkers input and information. Through the use of translators and other cultural affiliates clinicians are able to demonstrate a clearer understanding, a culturally applicable assessment, and ensure that the client understands the ins and outs of the assessment process. Piracy of Digitized Music Essay The music industry has developed in a series of technological advances, from the development of vinyl to the digitization of music and the creation of formats such as compact disc (CD), digital audiotape, and minidisk (Leyshon 2001). In addition, 15% profitable recordings are relied on greatly by the recording companies, who use them to subsidise less profitable types of music to cover the costs of developing new artists, and to keep their businesses operational, while downloaders often do not focus on that. Finally, the most direct victims are the creative artists which include musicians, singers, songwriters and producers, for the royalties and fees have not been earned by themselves. Virtually about 95% of artists rely on these fees to make a living and their reputations which are discredited by the inferior quality of pirated copies spreaded to the public. Therefore, music piracy is destroying both the music industry and anything that relies on the music industry. Positive effects However, music piracy also brings benefits to the music industry. At first, it is a way access to get the departed music that is no longer to republish. As a result of the way of constructing contracts, the music record labels are not holden by artists themselves that their new label is not allowed to produce as the old one, and if the old label decides not to republish anymore or release the songs, the music is generally dead. Android Application Development Fundamentals Application Fundamentals Quickview Android applications are composed of one or more application components (activities, services, content providers, and broadcast receivers) Each component performs a different role in the overall application behavior, and each one can be activated individually (even by other applications) The manifest file must declare all components in the application and should also declare all application requirements, such as the minimum version of Android required and any hardware configurations required Non code application resources (images, strings, layout files, etc.) should include alternatives for different device configurations (such as different strings for different languages ... A service is implemented as a subclass of Service and you can learn more about it in the Services developer guide. Content providers A content provider manages a shared set of application data. You can store the data in the file system, an SQLite database, on the web, or any other persistent storage location your application can access. Through the content provider, other applications can query or even modify the data (if the content provider allows it). For example, the Android system provides a content provider that manages the user s contact information. As such, any application with the proper permissions can query part of the content provider (such as ContactsContract.Data) to read and write information about a particular person. Content providers are also useful for reading and writing data that is private to your application and not shared. For example, the Note Pad sample application uses a content provider to save notes. A content provider is implemented as a subclass of ContentProvider and must implement a standard set of APIs that enable other applications to perform transactions. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... First of all, there are different types of Italian mafias, depending upon which region that they are located in and the market that they are exploiting. Italian organized crime is known all over the world, to the point that the term Mafia is now understood across the globe as referring to the organized criminal underworld. Literature on the subject is abundant, ranging from history, sociology and criminology to fiction and plain entertainment. The distinctive character, looks, habits, idiosyncrasies and jargon of the Mafiosi have been described, analyzed, explained and imitated. Apparently, everybody is familiar with Italian organized crime (Europol 4). The top three mafia organizations operating in Italy are Cosa Nostra, La Camorra and the Ndrangheta. Cosa Nostra is located on the island of Sicily as the Mafiosi s main activity consists of their forced protection and they have strong ties to Sicily s government. La Camorra is located in the region of Campania, but more specifically in the capital: Napoli. La Camorra s main focus is controlling the food and coffee markets, black market, as well as some drug trafficking. The Camorra clan, in turn, acquired from this relationship (1) considerable economic resources from the firms (2) the consequent systematic control of economic activity in the territorial area, the possibility of furnishing jobs and a marginal quota of the firm s income, and hence widespread social consensus and even open legitimacy; (3) finally, through the politicians, they secured the necessary institutional cover, in particular with the police and with possible intervention in eventual judicial proceedings. This original relationship between the Camorra and illegal non organized activities has not fundamentally changed over time, but has become stronger and deeper as a result of two factors. • 45. Test Sample Vs. The Benchmark With 98 % Confidence Therefore, there is a significant difference between the average scores of the test sample compared to the benchmark with 98% confidence. In this case, the claim can be made that the test sample is statistically superior to the average benchmark by at least (3.25 2)/3.25 = 38.5 % and at most (3.25 2)/2 = 62.5% with 98% confidence. SOLUTIONS, FIXES, EMBELLISHMENTS, AND IMPROVEMENTS The main issues found in heuristics #7 and #8 are partially due to the lack of awareness found in the RVCS. Specifically, the problems occur when one member of the group, denoted here as User A , needs to make necessary changes to a particular artifact or document, only to find that another group member, denoted here as User B , has checked the artifact or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Moreover, upon checking the artifact back into the repository, User B can use the same comments made at checkout, or discard the checkout comments and make more accurate comments at check in time. Finally, the Mack Truck Theory and putting all the eggs in one basket are words of warning and wisdom to be must be heeded. More than one manager should be given the RVCS administrative passwords so that in the event of an emergency, the checked out state of an artifact or document can easily be reversed and undone. Then the group member who originally owned the lock can be notified of the emergency reversal of his or her checkout. With this software embellishment, suggestion and best practice, the issue no longer impedes further progress from being made. The worst case scenario is that task completion may be delayed, but less significantly. As group members now know what changes are being made and how long it will take to make them, more informed decisions can be made in a shorter time. Finally, these proposed changes and best practices regarding the RVCS automatically address the issue found the sixth heuristic. Although the project manager may find the task of accurately evaluating and accessing one s productivity and proficiency using the RVCS a bit cumbersome, an administrative feature can be added to the RVCS to address the issue. • 46. The Civilians Of Ancient Greece World History C375 Task 2 Serra Bauman 000505328 Part A The civilians of Ancient Greece had to be resourceful. Most civilizations had rivers to channel, irrigate, and predict. Ancient Greece is a series of islands. This means that the people of Ancient Greece had to learn to live on the ocean. They had to deal with being more vulnerable to land attacks as they were used to battling with ships. And they also had to deal with huge ocean storms. These storms could destroy a new society with no notice. (Acrobatic, 2014) There were good things about being a seafaring civilization. As the Ancient Greeks migrated to the coast of the Mediterranean, and Black Seas, they were able to put all of their energy into maritime trade, eventually making them dominant of the busiest waterway in the ancient world. This society thought highly of citizen participation, and the unending search of the ultimate philosophical truths.
