Truth Of Civilization
Lord of the Flies by William Golding includes many truths of society, including how one s
authority can influence the way people live. The most important truth Golding was trying to
explain, was that a civilized society such as the boys living on the island can alter greatly to
savagery. The boys experience pain, fear, and betrayment while being stranded on the island.
Golding discusses the truth of civilizationby describing the way the boys live on the island similar
to The Giverand The Hunger Games.
The Lord of the Flies explores the truth of civilization by describing the lifestyle on the island.
Ralph kept the boys close to modern day society by assigning everyone a job and keeping the

So Trump Makes Spelling Errors Analysis
In So Trump Makes Spelling Errors. In the Twitter Age, Whoo Doesn t? Farhad Manjoo shows
popular spelling errors made by Donald Trump in his tweets, expressing that one puts too much
weight on spelling and other typographical mistakes, stating that Twitter is a place for immediacy
and when one chooses to pay more attention to errors in spelling it blinds us to content instead of
paying attention to the unvarnished, unfiltered view of [Trump s] or anyone else s mind.
Manjoo, displays in his article several examples of spelling mistakes made by world renowned
politicians and his own spelling errors to demonstrate that criticizing grammatical errors in tweets,
it is elitist and makes one not focus on what people say but leads to losing the grasp of the more
essential crucial issue that is at stake. Manjoo showcases his affection for defending grammatical
errors claiming that people are attracted to spelling and it is a forgivable sin for politicians to
misspell as spelling correctly has become an important mainstay of the modern public education
system. With the white supremacist march that took place in Virginia this year, it was a viral and
significant topic regarding cultural oppression today. Trump tweeted praising the marches saying
that Sometimes you need... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He himself, being an editor for the New York Times, deliberately makes spelling errors to show
that anyone can make grammar mistakes, but that is not what people should be concerned about.
Manjoo misspells trump and even in the title of this article, he adds an extra letter in who to grasp
the attention of the reader. He does this to prove the point that when focusing and criticizing on
the spelling errors one would not read the article or in his defense, the tweet. Or would read it and
completely ignore the fact that it was a racist tweet because they were too busy trying to be
conceited with checking

Frederick Douglass Disobedience
This quote sparks interest due to disobedience often containing a negative connotation. However,
in this quote disobedience is honorable, and to be called disobedient is a compliment.
According to Wilde, disobedience is beneficial and without it social progress could not be made.
Without disobedience, society is unable to change or improve from past mistakes. Without
rebellion or disobedience, what will promote people to act on their injustices? Rebellion and
disobedience are beneficial in promoting social progress. Through it, citizens are able to bring
issues and injustices they want acknowledged to the forefront. Through these ways, they try to
make the world a better place for everyone and to bring people to the realization as to why the
issues that they face are at fault and that they should be restored. In relation to the novel, The
Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Frederick Douglass s disobedience ultimately
sparked his freedom. Being introduced to the heart rending shrieks from his aunt at such a young
age, slavery has implanted a long lasting effect on his life. Often times, when one experiences a
painful memory in the manner such as, watching a family member hit until they are covered with
blood, sparks a fire to stand up for what is right in the back of their mind. Douglass carried those
visions of his aunt along with him his whole life, as well as his own repulsive images and
memories. These memories brought him to his jurisdiction of fighting back

Essay On Ancient Roman Weapons
Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome Gateway Project
Mike S.
Ancient Egypt and Ancient Rome weapons, imagine this: out in the field of war, fighting your
fiercest enemy yet, the Ancient Romans, as the Ancient Egyptians you would fear them, large
catapults, strong bows, and armed chariots.
These are some facts about Ancient Egypt.
Ancient Egypt did not have strong weapons, they had wooden bows, copper swords, and horrible
metalworking, they stole the sickle sword from the hyksos, now you may think that metalworking
and copper swords are the same thing but, when they learned how to make chariots they used iron
axles sometimes these axles would let the wheel loose, every city didn t use one key component

They created the cannon from the slingshot. They always hit a target, when they shot their huge
weapons these were devastating blows.
The Ancient Romans built a wall over 2000 years ago out of wood, this is one of the oldest
structures in Ancient Rome. They got a huge advantage over other countries with the wall. A
tower every 800 meters (0.49709695 Miles) away. This wall is easily burned as it was made of
wooden stakes. Ancient Romans had cavalry (Soldiers who fought on horseback) they wore mail
or scale armor.
The similarities:
Ancient Egypt And Ancient Rome both had hand slings this used rocks instead of arrows in them.
They both had very strong armor to wear. They had spears and javelins to throw. They both had war
gods that helped them in the battles that they fought.
The differences:
Different helmet types to cover the head. Different battle crests to show the spirit of the troops. All
people battled differently this allowed them to A. surprise or B. fight not flee.
They also all had different battle cries (Going into war, winning the war, taking down an enemy) all
different.

The Movement Of Positive Psychology
The movement of positive psychology is a reminder that our field and study has been focusing on
things like anxiety, disease, weakness, and damage. This movement urged us to shift our focus to
include the study of strength and virtue as well. Positive psychology is stating that the field of
psychology is more than just the study of illness or health but rather it is also about work,
education, insight, love, growth, and play (Seligman, 2002). Positive psychologyis the study of
strengths that enable individuals and communities to thrive and it is founded on the belief that
people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives.
Pain, suffering, and death can be integrated into positive psychology through the idea of what
gives us meaning in life. As human beings we are always looking for meanings in our life and
how we should live. We want to cultivate what is best within ourselves. As suggested in the
readings on death and dying, the authors stated that when people become aware of their
mortality, they become freer and even more compassionate (Martin, Campbell, Henery). This is
because when we realize that there is no escaping death, we no longer live life by societal norms
and rules but rather live life by our own rules. We learn to embrace life differently by focusing on
the positive aspect of our life knowing that death is waiting. From a positive psychology
perspective, we are shifting our focus from the negative aspects of our life to the mores positive
aspects

Benefits Of A High Deductible Health Plan
The Healthcare System is a combination of politics, health care practices, finances and
socioeconomic representatives of the United States of America. There are many aspects of
healthcare, such as health plans, that is not fully acknowledged by the American consumers.
Current studies have also suggested that consumers have a lack of understanding when it comes to
healthcare which can lead to a lack of care (Islam, 2015). Private (i.e. BlueCross) and public health
(Medicare and/or Medicaid) insurance operatives have similar and different methods in which
they are financing medical services to the public. This research paper will discuss many aspects of
a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP). First, what a HDHP is and its prevalence will be
discussed. Second, a deliberation about why and how they are so popular will be addressed.
Lastly, the pros and contra will be considered and how they can affect your overall health and
quality of life.
What is a High Deductible Health Plan?
A High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) is a health care plan in which they monthly premium
(amount that is paid by the consumer monthly or annually) is lower, but the insured has higher out
of pocket expenses. Out of pocket expenses or deductibles are the financial cost that the individual
pays on their own before their insurance pays its share ( High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP)

Martin Luther King s I Have a Dream Speech
Martin Luther King, Jr. was born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. He was born into a
society that treated him inferior to white people just because he was African American. As a
bright young boy in a diminishing culture, his father reassured him that he was just as good as
anyone else. He was determined to work hard, and demonstrate his equality regardless of race. He
set out to be the best he could be and graduated high school at the early age of fifteen. Martin
Luther King Jr. then went to the distinguished school; Morehouse College, where he received a
B.A. in 1948. After that he ended up enrolled in graduate studies at Boston University, completing

Ethos is defined as the trustworthiness or credibility of the writer or speaker.
Aristotle tells us that three things Inspire confidence in the rhetor s [speaker s/writer s] own
character the three, namely, that induce us to believe a thing apart from any proof of it: good
sense, good moral character, and goodwill.
Martin Luther King establishes all three concepts that Aristotle reveals to us, and in King s speech
he uses good morals frequently because he is apart of the African American society and relates to
everything that is happening. Martin Luther King Jr. establishes ethos throughout his famous I
Have A Dreamspeech and we can see this through his first statement that says I am happy to join

and has felt what the people are going through. He then later goes on and states that

brutality. We can never be satisfied as long as our bodies, heavy with the fatigue of travel, cannot
gain lodging in the motels of the highways and the hotels of the cities. We cannot be satisfied as
long as the negro s basic mobility is from a smaller ghetto to a larger one.

in understanding the emotional context of inter human communications and relations, which leads
him to overreacting in many situations. In the book, Christopher offers the reader to look at the

Migraine Essay
I have had migraines since I was 5 years old. At first my migraine disorder was episodic, meaning
I had fewer than 15 attacks a month. After college, I started working at an incredibly challenging
job, and the stresses of the real world hit me hard. Since then my disorder has become chronic, and
I have migraines almost every single day.
To this day, stress is one of my biggest triggers. My migraines vary in levels of pain, but are an all
over extreme stabbing, pulsing, squeezing, searing head pain that s difficult to describe if you
haven t experienced one. With the head pain comes severe neck and shoulder tension, stomach
issues, visual disturbances, shaking, throwing up, diarrhea, loss of speech, and confusion, along

migraine. It escalates and deescalates during the day depending on countless factors. Children are

that my kids need breakfast and want to be played with.
Dealing with mom guilt
Almost all moms experience some sort of guilt when it comes to parenting, and those of us with
chronic illness are no exception. Being a mom isn t easy. Being a mom with chronic illness feels
almost impossible sometimes.
My guilt revolves around not being able to be the super mom I always imagined myself being.
But over the years, I had to give up on the desire to be the perfect mother and simply allow my
children to see me as human. I m not perfect, I m not always healthy, and I can t always do the
things I want. This is my reality, and the truth is that all parents have to do the best that we can
with what we have and be gentle with ourselves in the process.
I feel guilty for missing events and milestones. I missed my daughter s first dentist appointment,
and it felt like I was the worst mom. Guess what? She has had many, many more appointments that
I ve been at since then. It was OK.
I feel guilty asking for help. I feel like I should be able to do everything. Well, I can t. Asking for
help is hard, but I ve learned to lean on my support team of friends and family. They are ready and

The Role Of The Vizier In The Middle Kingdom Of Egypt
The Middle Kingdom of Egypt lasted roughly from C.2055 1786.B.C. It is written that the Vizier
was the right hand man and the most trusted advisor for Pharaoh during the Old, Middle and
New kingdoms. The viziers were the second most powerful official, and were appointed by the
Pharaoh to be the head of the government administrators. The viziers weren t from royal blood.
Today they are called and known as advisors rather than viziers. The position of vizier, or advisors,
was important in helping the Pharaohrun his empire and our modern day President uses his advisors
in the same way today.
During the Middle Kingdom viziers served as mayors of their cities. They were given charge by

We monitor our operational performance through a broad range of measures at many levels.
Departure punctuality is our primary measure, as high performance here requires other
operational processes to run smoothly, and also because it is a key driver of customer
satisfaction. Our headline measure of punctuality is Ready to Go , which focuses on the aspects
of the departure process within our control. In 2012 55 per cent of flights were Ready to Go ,
being prepared for departure at three minutes before the scheduled departure time, and 79 per
cent of flights departed within 15 minutes of schedule. The use of technology to improve the
customer service experience is paying dividends in goodwill. For example, iPads have now been
issued to more than 2,000 senior cabin crew, which enables them to provide insight into our
customers preferences across a whole range of areas, from special meal requests to onward
travel plans. Cabin crew can deliver a truly bespoke service with this information at their
fingertips. Furthermore, if any customer service issues arise in the air, cabin crew can inform
ground based colleagues in a timely fashion and action can be taken quickly to resolve any

Validity and Reliability Matrix Essay
Galinda Individual Validity and Reliability Matrix Internal consistency The application and
appropriateness of internal consistency would be viewed as reliability. Internal consistency
describes the continuous results provided in any given test. It guarantees that a range of items
measure the singular method giving consistent scores. The appropriateness would be to use the re
test method in which the same test is given to be able to compare whether the internal consistency
has done its job (Cohen Swerdlik, 2010). For example a test that could be given is the proficiency
test which provides three different parts to the test, but if a person does not pass the test the same
test is given again. Strengths The strength of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Weaknesses The weakness would be if the characteristics that are being measured assumed
would change over time, and lower the test/retest reliability. If the measurements were due to
variance other than error variance there would be a problem. If the reliability of a test is lower
than the real measurement it may be because the construct may varies. Parallel and alternate
forms The parallel and the alternative forms of test reliability utilize multiple instances of the
same test items at two different time with the same participants (Cohen Swerdlik, 2010). These
kinds of test of reliability measurement could be proper when a person is measuring traits over
a lengthy period of time, but would not be proper if a person was to measure one s emotional
state. Strengths The parallel and alternate form measure the reliability of the core construct during
variances of the same test items. Reliability will go up when equal scores are discovered on
multiple form of the same test. Internal consistency estimate of reliability can analyze the
reliability of a test with the test taker going through several exams. Weaknesses The parallel and
alternate form test takes up a lot of time and can be expensive along with bothersome for test takers
who have to take different versions of the test over again. These tests are not dependable when

Strengths And Weaknesses Of Operant Conditioning
Skinner s theory observes individuals from the point of view of the behavior that they demonstrate.
The key weakness of this theory is its attempt to explain the behaviors of an individual solely
through visible phenomena. Critics sometimes accuse behaviorists of denying that ideas and
thoughts exist (Jensen Burgess, 1997). The major opposition that behaviorists face is that behavior
of a person cannot be understood without including the mental activity of the individual. Critics
have accused behaviorists of focusing only on behavior and ignoring the role of physiology,
neuroscience, and genetics (Weiss Rosales Ruiz, 2014). Sometimes the reactions that people

According to Snowman McCown, token economies are used to strengthen behavior. It is another
type of behavior modification strategy that can be used with students to effectively promote good
behavior within the classroom. Token economies are based upon a monetary system in which
tokens are used to acquire desired reinforcers. A token is something that has little or no inherent
value but that can be used to purchase items that do have inherent value (Snowman McCown,
2012). Teachers will create a reinforcement menu which includes the items that can be purchased by
tokens. Students will receive these tokens accordingly when they use the target behaviors
appropriately. When students acquire a certain number of tokens for displaying good behavior,
these can be exchanged for certain objects or activities in order to reinforce the

Similarities Between Riyadh And Greensboro
All cities in the word are unique. Some of the cities have similarity and the other are different. Also,
some of the cities located in the same country but it totally different from each to other. It is
different in people behave, accent, and whether. However, my hometown Riyadh is very different
from Greensboro in United states. The three significant differences between them are size, weather,
and activity.
First, the important thing different between Riyadh and Greensboro is size. Riyadh is a big city and
population number was increasing every year. As a result, the Traffic sign sure will happen. In
addition, the distance between North and South is very long. For example, my home is in the

Lucius Cornelius Sulla Essay
Lucius Cornelius Sulla From a rather humble beginning Lucius Cornelius Sulla rose to become
a great politician and a powerful general in the Roman Republic. As a general, Sulla lead Roman
armies to many victories. As a politician he became a powerful dictator and yet was responsible
for bringing about many reforms. This essay will prove how he was a great dictator, politician
and general, through discussing his background, his military and political career, his dictatorship,
and his accomplishments in his later years. Sulla was born near Rome, into a politically
unimportant patrician family in 138 B.C. He received a good education and lived a normal life.

The following year Sulla ran and was elected as praetor, the second highest position in the
Roman republic. After his term of praetor was up, he returned to the battle field. This time it was
against Mithridates, King of Pontus. Sulla did not have a full army with him so he had to
recruit soldiers from Roman allies. His ability to get these soldiers and to push Mithridates back,
shows his great military skills. This campaign was also important because it brought Rome into
contact with the powerful Parthia Empire. He was able to arrange a treaty with Parthia, which
was a milestone for Sulla. This would not be the last time he would meet Mithridates in battle.
Soon Sulla and Marius again had to forget there many differences to defend Rome against Allied
Italian forces who had declared war on Rome. They had set up their own government and were
preparing to become an independent nation. This war was known as the Social War because the
Latin name for Roman allies was socii. It was ended by a more important conflict, the invasion of
a Roman province in Asia Minor by Mithridates. The Romans and the Italians signed a peace
treaty in 89 B.C. Soon the main focus for Rome was Mithridates of Pontus in the east. In 88 B.C.
Sulla was elected consul. The Senate also named him commander of the forces against Mithridates.
Marius had wanted this command for himself. After Sulla left Rome Marius convinced the people s

The Controversy Of Eating Healthy
The article ВЁThe pleasure of eatingВЁ by Wendell berry was telling us about how mostly
americans mindlessly eat. The main argument berry had was that we don t what kind of junk we
are eating. What berry is trying to say is we do need to stop buying junk food and buying healthier
food. Claims that are trying to made in the article are the problem of obesity, to eat healthier and
stop wasting our money on junk food.
The problem with obesity in america is that there is too many people overweight by either a few
pounds or 100 maybe more. America is the number 1 most obese place in the world and sadly our
numbers will keep going up. We are so overweight because we give into buying junk foodfor the
cheap price. Our children are overweight because we don t give them the right foods they should
be eating. The weight is a problem and we need to fix it by doing 2 simply things; exercise and
eating healthy food.
Eating healthy is not difficult just eat right like how we should. Buying fruits and vegetables
from a local market is just one way to making things better. The most we can do to have a healthy
life is to look into how we can make our food we are eating. Look at our agriculture to be aware of
what we eat and how it s grown and raised. Agriculture is what helps our economy grow because

know as ISIS or ISIL) are still interested in Western recruits because it is easier for them to travel
between countries and they are knowledgeable of western cultures and language. Individuals do not
always come from foreign countries, and are sometimes American or European citizens. The
recruits lineage can come from the country in which the terrorist reside or the recruit may be
impressed or drawn to the ideals and beliefs of another country. Terrorists or transnational criminals
are not limited to members of foreign intelligence agencies, militant groups, or insurgents, but they
now also consist of university students and business executives (Gebhardt, 2004). Some criminals
and terrorist come from well to do families or high status jobs. For example, Umar Farouk
Abdulmutallab also known as the underwear bomber attempted to harm approximately 300
individuals aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 because he stated that he had been directed by al
Qaeda to do so. Abdulmuttallab was from a wealthy family, had opportunities to study at various
universities, and had the support of his family members; however, he chose to involve himself in
terrorist activities instead of furthering his education or maintaining a peaceful lifestyle. American

Students with Disabilities in Career and Technical Education
Students with Disabilities in Career and Technical Education
Career and technical education (CTE) can provide significant benefits to students with disabilities.
CTE teachers need to be aware of the rights of students with disabilities and of the planning process
involved in meeting their needs. In addition, CTE teachers must know what role they play both in
planning and in providing instruction. CTE teachers often need background information on the
details of disabilities and the accommodations required. This Digest provides information on
students with disabilities for secondary CTE teachers.

The 1998 Perkins Act requires equal access for special populations, including students with
disabilities, to all vocational programs, services, and activities and prohibits discrimination based on
special population status. The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), as amended in
1997, establishes the right of students with disabilities to a free appropriate public education,
including special education, related services, and transition services.
The Individualized Education Program (IEP) mandated by IDEA draws on the results of a
comprehensive evaluation of the student s educational needs at least once every 3 years (ibid.;
Smith 2000). The IEP must identify the student s current level of educational performance;
measurable goals and objectives; special education, related services, and other accommodations to
be provided; and the extent of participation with nondisabled students. The IEP must also specify
how the student s progress will be measured, how parents will be informed of progress, and the
extent of modification in state and districtwide tests. Beginning at age 14, the IEP must include a
statement of transition services the student will need to reach postschool goals; beginning at age

Birth Order and Personality
Birth Order s Effect on Personality
Birth Order s Effect on Personality
Environment determines to some extent the personality of a person. There are numerous factors in
the environment which could determine variations in the personalities of different individuals.
There are factors which are inherent to the environment and there are those determined by the
manner by which individuals enter into a particular environment. In much the same way, how an
infant s entrance into the world determines in large part how parents and others will respond. In
this paper particular view will be taken on the matter of timing that an infant is born.
When an infant is born determines in large part the emotions of his or her parents and relatives. ...

The distinguishing characteristic of Adler s theory is the marked power struggle between siblings.
Personality thus becomes a concept strongly influenced by a basic urge for attention and respect. At
a young age, these same goals are gained from parents the struggle extends to adulthood as common
relations and peers.
Frank Sulloway
For a period, birth order was refuted and phased out from serious study. However, as a result of
Sulloway s release of his own studies, birth order theories gained respect once again (Paulhus,
Trapnell, Chen, 1999). Frank Sulloway follows Adler s theory in the sense that he also believed
sibling differences attributed to birth order resulted from competition between siblings. Sulloway
(1996) held that siblings utilize differences in size and strength to overpower younger siblings.
These younger siblings in turn resorted to counterstrategies in order to hold their ground against
older siblings. Such a discussion is certainly reminiscent to Adler s own speculations.
However, Sulloway s studies brought in a new dimension to the study of birth order. It was through
his research that the Big Five Personality traits, namely Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion,
Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, were introduced into the study (Sulloway, 2001). Data was
gathered reflecting the personality dispositions of individuals based on birth order. This served to
give credibility to this particular area of

Causes And Effects Of Multiple Personality Disorders
There are many cases that can be found in psychological records for multiple personality disorders
also, known as dissociative identity disorder. Dissociative Identity, formerly known as multiple
personality disorder, is a condition in which an individual has a host personality along with at least
two or more personalities with each identity having his or her own ideas, memories, thoughts and
way of doing things (Bennick). Personality disordersare a group of mental illnesses, they involve
thoughts and behaviors that are unhealthy and inflexible. A person with a personality disorderhas
trouble perceiving and relating to situations and people (Mayo Clinic). This causes significant
problems and limitations in relationships, social activities, work and school (Mayo Clinic). In
some cases, you may not realize that you have a personality disorder because your way of
thinking and behaving seems natural to you, but in all honesty, it s not. You also might blame
others for the challenges you face (Mayo Clinic). Personality disorders usually begin in the
teenage years or early adulthood (Mayo Clinic). There are many types of personality disorders.
Some types may become less obvious throughout middle age (Mayo Clinic). The most common
types of personality disorders are divided into three clusters. Many people with one personality
disorder also have signs and symptoms of at least one additional personality disorder. Personality

Harmony Theory In Phaedo By Plato
In Phaedo, by Plato, Phaedo recounts an incident with Socrates. The story starts with Socrates
opening up saying that Philosophers should not only accept death, but welcome it. After all,
although the body will pass, the soul is able to live on because it is immortal. He uses a lot of
his intuition to back up his claim, but the main rationale is the Argument of Affinity. He claims
that the world is very binary. Things are either incorporeal and invisible, or not. The body is
physical, visible and corporeal. Things like the body that are visible are part of the sensible world
and do not last. The soulhowever is not. It is invisible and incorporeal. That is why Socrates
believes the soul is immortal. Simmias counters Socrates claim bringing... Show more content on

Clearly the harmony of the lyre is not immortal. Harmony doesn t survive the lyre, but rather is
dependent upon the lyre. The lyre is similar to the human body and soul. Harmony is divine and
incorporeal. However, the human body is much like the lyre in that it is both corporeal and
visible. Because the lyre is held together in the proper way and at the right degrees, it is able to
exist just as the soul does only through the appropriate ways and make up of the human body. This
leads to the point that just because things are invisible and incorporeal does not necessarily mean
they are immortal. We need to think of the soul as a different type of harmony.
Socrates objects Simmias claims and refutes Harmony Theory many ways, but the one I find
most notable is that Socrates believes that the soul is the master of the human body and directs
and controls the body. Since the soul is eternal and the body is not, the soul controls the body
throughout the entirety of its life. Socrates comments, further, of all parts of a man, can you
mention any other part that rules him than his soul, especially if it is a wise soul? (Plato 132).
Because it has this power, it tells the body what to do, where to move, and how to act. This is
different than the harmony and the lyre. For example, on the other hand, we previously agreed that
if the soul were a harmony, it would never be out of tune with the

There are so many different cultures across the globe that use music or dance as a form of

Lakota, Navajo, Ponca, Ojibway tribes did multiple dances to help with their way of life. This

that is practice differently by several different Indian Nations. This particular ceremony include
smoking of the pipe, dancing, singing, and drumming so that they would be able to experience
visions, or it is the beginning of a fast. In some cases it is used as a self torture if they feel they
have shamed themselves in some way. Some tribes, like the Sioux, practice self torture by the
piercing of the skin on the chest or back as a personal sacrifice the individual makes for the good
of all of the people of the tribe. A Purification ritual (Sweat Lodge ceremony) always precedes this
ceremony for the Sioux people. The Sun Dance is an important religious ceremony of the Plains
Indians from the 19th century. This ceremony is held once a year during the time of the summer
solstice. This ceremony can last anywhere between four and eight days from sunset to sunset. This
Sun Dance Ceremony showed a continuity between life and death a regeneration. It shows that
there is no true end to life, but a cycle of symbolic and true deaths and rebirths. All of nature is

Katniss Idea Of Freedom In The Hunger Games
Freedom is something often taken for granted. There is a certain level of comfort people have with
the freedoms they have been given. Eventually, people stop thinking about how much of a gift
freedom really is. The concept of freedom means something different to different people. Epictetus
describes his version of freedom well with this quote. Is freedom anything else than the right to live
as we wish? Nothing else. This captures the meaning of freedom by describing how freedom has no
one definition and is a personal concept. In The Hunger Games series, there is a continuous search

Persuasive Essay On Xylitol
Shocking Cavity Fighters You Didn t Know About
You think you are doing everything right when it comes to your teeth. You brush regularly and
limit sugary foods. Unfortunately, a trip to the dentist reveals cavities. While brushing, flossing
and steering clear of cavity causing foods and beverages are the best line of defense, there are
some interesting second lines of defense you may not know about for children and adults both.
Xylitol
Fight cavities with sugar! That s right, Xylitol is a naturally occurring sugar alcohol used as a
sweetener. It is used in sugar free gums, candies, mouthwashes and toothpastes. While Xylitol
works great as a sugar substitute, it also works as a cavity fighter. This type of sugar kills the
bacteria in the mouth that causes cavities. Using Xylitol five times of day in the form of gum,
candy, mints, or mouthwashes helps to cleanse your mouth of cavity causing bacteria. Your
children will be thrilled when you ask them to eat candy!

It is not just great for your body and bones, but the casein in cheese may have a protective property
which helps prevent cavities. After we eat cheese, research shows an increase in calcium levels in
our mouths. Increased calcium in the saliva can help re mineralize teeth and prevent cavities.
Wine
Obviously for adults only, wine has chemical components in it which research has shown fights the
bacteria leading to tooth decay and cavities. While these studies are still young, the research is
promising. However, keep in mind red wine is known to stain teeth.
Using a Straw
When you are trying to prevent cavities, you should avoid sugary and acidic drinks altogether. But
if you find you need a soda, drink it through a straw. Studies show sipping sugary drinks through a
straw lessens contact with the teeth and therefore lessens the effect the sugary drink has on teeth.

Feminism And The First Wave Feminism
Feminism is the movement towards women s equality and the fight for equal gender in the social,
political, cultural and economical aspects of society. Feminism also fights for equal opportunity for
women in employment and education. A feminist is someone who advocates their support for
women s rights but is not restricted to only women; anyone who supports women s rights and
equality are feminists, including men. Feminismis not only about the females; it fights for gender
equality for all. Feminist movements, or Women s movements, campaign for reforms in household
issues with domestic violence, political issues with equal pay, employment and maternity leave, and
reproduction rights. All feminism movements fight for equal rights, but it cannot be conquered or
be made known all at once. First wave feminism was mostly about women s suffrage and political
equality in general whereas the second wave feminism went more in depth about the social and
cultural inequalities.
The first wave feminism was mostly about legal issues, specifically woman s suffrage, or the right
to vote. Before women could even think about changing the government policies, they had to raise
awareness. While some acts may have been passed, the feminist movement did not truly start until
1848 with the Seneca Falls Convention. In the early 1800s there were some reforms but not as
much as the aftermath of the Seneca Falls Convention. Only one university, which was Oberlin

The DГ©tente During The Cold War
DГ©tente is a French word that refers to the time during the Cold war that tensions between
America and the USSR cooled down. This cooling period began around 1971 and took full effect
when President Richard M. Nixon visited the secretary general of the Soviet Communist party,
Leonid I. Brezhnev, in Moscow, May 1972. Both countries were shocked by the Vietnam War, and
found that the arms race was too expensive causing DГ©tente, this time of low tensions. Though
the dГ©tente did not end the Cold War, it increased communications between the 2 nations and

This was negotiations between the United States and the Soviet Union that tried to limit the

important were the Treaty on Anti Ballistic Missile (ABM) Systems and the Interim Agreement.
Both were signed by President Richard M. Nixon for the United States and Leonid Brezhnev,
general secretary of the Soviet Communist Party, for the U.S.S.R. on May 26, 1972, in Moscow.
The ABM treaty regulated antiballistic missiles. This treaty limited each side to only one ABM
deployment area and 100 interceptor missiles. These limitations allowed both sides to only protect
a small fraction of their entire country (hoped that it would stop both sides from attack). The
Interim Agreement reduced each side s number of ICBMs (intercontinental Ballistic Missile) and
submarine launched ballistic missiles (SLBMs). SALT II ( second negotiations) treaty set limits
on the number of strategic launchers. The treaty set a limit of about 2,400 of all such weapons
systems for each side. The SALT II treaty was signed by President Jimmy Carter and Brezhnev in

Mrs. Drover The Demon Lover
A person s character will affect their final decision. The decision of a shy person will depend on
others because of them letting others disdain them. Mrs. Drover in The Demon Lover had a

Mrs. Drover s decision process to defend herself would have changed the whole story. She held

principally, what she was to carry away. This was so near the end of a leave from France that

ranging from alchemist to religious interpretations. A private space for both particle and spiritual
work. Rembrandt used the oil painting show a man sitting in shadows near a window; on the far
right is another men at the fire. The dark border of the image that surrounds the soft golden glow
of the room not only emphasizes the alchemists stillness. Rembrandt s color is apparent in his
unique choice and blend of hues, in the intricate details of the stone frame on the small door behind
the man, and in the graceful curve of the stairs.one side of the helixis kept lightin the painting,
while the other side is kept dark.Rembrandt made a complex layers, building up a image from the
back to the front with delicate glazes that allowed light actually to fill his backgrounds and reflect
off the white under painting, and generously applied body colors which mimicked the effect of
solid bodies in space.
The curved surface shape is repeated throughout the composition.A black circle, making out the
edge of the painting, and a black point within this circle. This point within the circle is a very well
known symbol for esotericists al chemistry and metaphysics. After this point within the circle has
been seen the next what comes in view is a helix spiral line in the middle of the painting. More
primal than being spiral in shape is the given that the line separates the circle into two parts. Such a
separated circle symbolizes in esotericism . A circle stands for unity and when that unity is divided
duality is symbolized. And the most primal duality presented in esotericism is that of spirit and
matter.
The spiral staircase that divides the room, the old man in front of a window and the man at the
fire. The size of the room is the fireplace seems very large, the arched roof and window, thick
stone walls and small arched door all point to a small place in a rather grand house, not to mention
the spectacular spiral staircase. The man, who is clearly the subject of the painting is resting

containing about 43,000 soldiers. After the explosion 66 thousand were killed and over 69
thousand were injured. (US Department of Energy, 2009) Three days after this on the 9th of
August an implosion triggered Plutonium fission bomb known as Fat Boy was dropped on the
Japanese city of Nagasaki, the primary target had been the Kokura Arsenal, a massive collection
of war industries adjacent to the city of Kokura. With bad weather conditions the aircraft
commander was unable to focus on a suitable target and was forced to change to their secondary
target of Nagasaki. 45 thousand people were killed and over 25 thousand were injured (Bellis, M
n.d. Online History of the Atomic Bomb Manhattan Project). The next day Japan announced
unconditional surrender. Almost immediately after the end of the World War II the Cold War
Crisis (1951 1991) began; while the Cold War was mostly a war of threats between the United
States and the USSR, these threats were basically the threat of complete

Argumentative Essay On Amelia
Espionage is seen as a threat, no matter where the location. The Japanese wouldn t want people
sneaking photographs of top secret information. Amelia would be seen as a threat and her
actions would be greatly frowned upon naturally. Her gender or aviation movement would not
matter, nor be considered when determining her fate. A spy during a time of chaos is not going
to be ignored or taken lightly. If spying was involved; I would imagine more than a plane crash
would involve her disappearance, but if she is what I envision. A feminist who wants to leave her
mark in aviation who experienced a forced landing or crash, leaving her forced to live like a
castaway. In other opinions of the explanations they say, The Japanese forced them down... Show

They were even willing to testify about the sighting. This theory involving the sightings and island
has been talked about and eventually seemed to stop drawing attention. This island could be where
they trained spies but I am not sure if Amelia Earhart was one of them. I was not an eyewitness, I
have no factual evidence of her presence there. I question if the person seen just looked familiar? Or
was there confirmation on her identity that I am unaware about? The questions only continue from
not only Earhart but also the location and the actions that were considered to be going on there.
Amelia Earhart s disappearance remains unsolved and will continue this trend if investigations and
research aren t conducted. Others that have analyzed and developed their own conspiracy theories.
Some say that the government was planning on Earhart s mission failing and that they didn t want a
woman breaking another record. This was a huge advancement, that society might not have been

Greek Mythology And The Lightening Thief
It is a lovely day out, the bright sun shining down, the smell of beautiful flowers, the sounds of
birds chirping. Then, a chariot sweeps across a meadow, taking one unfortunate goddess, deep deep
down to the frightful underworld, to be seated by the King of the Dead,
Hades. Greek mythology is very interesting and can also be very interestingly weird. In the
lightening thief we see the very interesting part about Greek mythology. The lightening thief uses
the modern day society to tell the adventure packed story. In this essay I will give you an overview
of Greek mythology, along with a summary and analysis of The Lightening Thief.
Hero is the main theme of this story. We see the theme of hero throughout various parts of
2
the story. Courage, Love and sacrifice, and man vs. society all connect back to the idea of heroism.
Cultural and Historical Context
The Lightening Thief story is set in modern day time. Around 2000 2004 is where it all starts.
Although the setting is modern day, he author is telling Greek mythology, which began in
500 BC. Greek mythology is very interestingly different. Greek mythology also includes a number
of monsters and strange creatures such as the one eyed Cyclops in the Odysseus story, a gigantic
boar in the fabled Kalydonian hunt, sphinxes, giant snakes, fire breathing bulls and more. These
creatures may represent chaos and lack of reason, for example, the centaurs halfman and half horse.

STI Surveillance System Analysis
Evaluation of the Summerville County STI Surveillance System Introduction An STI
Surveillance report was recently completed for Summerville County and its subsequent cities,
and now, an evaluation is necessary to examine how well the system operates to meet its
purpose and objectives (Lee et al., 2010). Public health surveillance systems should be evaluated
periodically, and recommendations for improving quality in the system will be provided (Lee et
al., 2010). The purpose of evaluating public health surveillance systems is to ensure that
problems of public health importance are being monitored efficiently and effectively (CDC,
2001). Results that are generated from surveillance systems are not always free of errors;
therefore, an evaluation is essential to produce a high quality STI surveillance system for
Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV AIDS, and Syphilis programs. Evaluating these errors and
shortcomings will allow for higher accuracy in results and will further lend a hand in
disseminating findings in an efficient and timely fashion. The analysis being provided, as well as
other reports, will drastically play a role in helping Summerville with the burden of STIs. It is
important to assess the quality of the surveillance system in order to maintain relevant surveillance
data, otherwise time, money, and effort will have gone to waste.

Infanticide In The Woman Warrior
A horrific taboo occurs twice in the novel The Woman Warrior: Memoirs of a Girlhood Among
Ghosts by Maxine Hong Kingston, infanticide. Infanticide is the act of murdering an infant,
specifically the person s own child. When this situation occurs in the writing, there is a different
significance to Chinese culture than the other. What is the context behind this cruel act in Kingston
s book about tieing ancient Chinese tales with her own life? Both times infanticide is brought up a
powerful emotion develops in the reader, such as grief or anger. The main purpose of infanticide in
the novelis to force the reader to think what is right and wrong. The first time infanticide appears is
in the first section of the book titled No Name Woman. Kingston s... Show more content on

The section titled Shamen is about Brave Orchid s journey to become a midwife and her very
different life in China. She once mentioned to Kingston the story of one particular baby that was
born with something missing, One child born without an anus was left in the outhouse so that the
family would not have to hear it cry (101). This is a case of infanticide that could not be stopped.
A baby born without an anus, especially in the 1930s, generally has no hope of surviving. The
parents left it in the outhouse so they would not have to hear it crying and suffering.
Nonetheless, it is said that the baby lasted a long time, breathing as if it was trying to defecate
for almost a week. While this infant was doomed from the second it was born, it fought to survive
and lasted much longer than what the family and Brave Orchid expected. The substance behind
this infanticide is to demonstrate that even the ill fated are still able to fight for survival. The
baby beat the odds of living only a day, much like how females in China, such as the warrior Mu
Lan can prove that they can do more than cook and clean. Although, maybe the parents should have
tried to help the infant instead of leave it outside and soothe it through it s

Pt1420 Unit 6 Game Analysis
Here s how it works: For each simulated contest, the machine randomly chooses one of the 33
years worth of historical results since the tournament expanded to 64 teams in 1985. It then
applies both your strategy and the computer s to all 63 games based on the initial seeding. (Given
that a 1 seed has never lost to a 16 seed in 132 matchups, we comp that one to both you and the
computer. So you re actually only guessing 59 games.) It then uses the random numbergenerator in
your browser to rapidly evaluate each bracket s score using a default scoring system, which
doubles the points awarded for correct picks each subsequent round, usually from 1 point for an
accurate first round pick to 32 for getting the final gameright. (ESPN awards 10 points... Show more

Given that a loss will only cost you the entrance fee regardless of the size of your pool, it s better
to play against more people. As for strategy, the best move is generally to fall back on the seeding.
Whether by luck or design, the Selection Committee has a good track record of awarding higher
seeds to better teams, even when they snub teams that probably deserved a berth.
I believe this is a hopeful lesson. It s easy to feel defeated when playing against people who have
paid a great deal more attention to college basketball. But single elimination tournaments are
cruel. Every unexpected upset can upend even the wisest player s entire bracket, as you may
have gathered from the banshee s wail of the defeated on Facebook as the tournament progresses.
Given that your potential points double each round, you can sneak in a win by hanging on to a
few teams that go deep, even if your first round looked like a disaster.
Yes, that is my advice: Be boring and choose the obvious answers. It may not work this year, or
next year, but those are the best odds that you ll come out ahead in the long run, even if your
outlook is decades, not centuries. That s the bounty of a high stakes tournament played by

Main Contributions of Bede s Ecclesiastical History as a...
There is not a single work along English History that could have been more determinant and
indispensable than Bede s Ecclesiastical History. By describing the story of the English people
through their experience of Christianity he became our intermediary with the world of Anglo
Saxon England and their believes. Therefore, in what follows an attempt will be made to describe
the main contributions of Bedes Ecclesiastical History as a source for early English history.
As a Christian monk and teacher, Bede could not have carried out this English history without
emphasizing the importance of the Christian conversion that took place in England before the VIII
century. It covers both the conversion of the kingdoms and the creation of the ... Show more content

Bede wrote a well organized story, after having contrasted sources and texts and after having
coordinated all the pieces of information that came to his hands. The result was an account of kings
names, kingdoms foundations and legends that constitute a good study of the culture of the time.
Together with this important history account we can find another relevant contribution of Bede s
Ecclesiastical History, it has to do with the chronological system included in his work. Until that
moment there were various dating systems that could create a clear confusion when trying to
determine the exact date of a specific event. So what Bede realised was that all these systems had
to be synchronized and he did it in the already existing system of the Anno Domini. In spite of the
fact that he made some reasonable mistakes in setting dates, this achievement became a very
reliable method of dating.
But all these contributions could not have taken place without all the sources that Bede used in
order to retail this history of the English People. These sources include witnesses who remembered
or knew facts, manuscripts borrowed directly from Rome, several church records including Saints
lives and Papal letters, in short, a wide range of evidences that could give a trustworthy basis to all
his accounts. Still, despite all these true evidences used by Bede, some of the stories that he related
were not entirely true and at the same time, they

Little Canada, Questions And Answers
Question 1: Why are you interested in this position?
From what I have learned city governments provide some of the most challenging, dynamic,
learning centric environments where opportunities to make a difference abound through numerous
opportunities. Often from what I have seen the staff is smaller, and so is the budget and other
resources and yet the issues that arise didn t shrink as well, so creative and quick solutions are
more frequently needed. I want to start building experience working in government and I want to do
it at the local level because I see meaningful and challenging work. Moreover I have spent many
years developing excellent skills, including communication, problem solving and research
capabilities and working in Little Canada will allow me to take the next step while doing
something that matters to Minnesotans. This important job will give me the opportunity I have
been seeking to further develop my skills while offering my love for creative solutions when the
opportunity arises. From what I have read thus far the Little Canada government favors people
who consistently deliver simple and sound solutions to problems in a timely and professional

Essay Flannery O Connor s Good Country People
Flannery O Connor s Good Country People
In Good Country People by Flannery O Connor, uses symbolism in the choice of names, almost to
the point of being ironic and humorous.
These names center around the personality and demeanor of the characters.
Hulga, once known as Joy, simply changed her name because it was the ugliest she could think
of. Mrs. Freeman s name is ironic because she is burdened by the land that she works, so is not
really free. Mrs. Hopewell?s name is also ironic, because she trys to provide hope, but is in fact
empty in her talk. Each one of these characters names, Hulga, Mrs. Freeman, and
Mrs. Hopewell, show the symbolism used by Flannery O Connor.
Hulga, the daughter to Mrs. Hopewell, was actually ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She does not think of herself as pretty, but in fact she believes that she is ugly and depressed and
actually enjoys feeling this way.
Mrs. Freeman is the tenet farmer for Mrs. Hopewell. Mrs. Freeman is very nosy and has a
fondness for the grotesque and secret infections. She has an attitude of trying to be someone she
is not, almost as if she is trying to be like Mrs. Hopewell. When Mrs. Hopewell stated to Mrs.
Freeman one of her many phrases ?that life was like that, Mrs. Freeman would say, ?I always
said so myself.? Nothing had been arrived at by anyone that had not first been arrived at by
herself.? Mrs. Freeman?s name could mean two things. One possible meaning is that a freed slave
was called a freeman, but
Mrs. Freeman is a white tenet farmer, so technically she is not free. This could show how Mrs.
Freeman would rather be a freed black slave, rather than a poor white farmer tied to the land. The
other meaning is that when people first came to America, many people would become indentured
servants, and then over time they would eventually get their freedom. These people were called
freeman. This meaning could show how Mrs. Freeman had a desire to be free and not work for
someone else. One day Mrs.
Hopewell had said to Mrs. Freeman, ?You know, you?re the wheel behind the wheel,? and winked,
Mrs. Freeman had said, ?I know it. I?ve always been quick.? This shows that perhaps Mrs.

The True Value of Loyalty Essay
Now I was the one under the microscope, the one who had to prove my worthiness (Hosseini
184). This quote demonstrates the role switch that encourages Amir to change the disloyal person
he was previously into the person he is at the novel s end. Hassan is constantlyys tormented by
Amir s meaningless tests to prove Hassan s loyalty. Now, it is Amir who has to prove to the
world, and also to himself that he is worthy of Hassan s endless sincerity and devotion. Khaled
Hosseinidoes an excellent job of portraying this transformation in his writing. Hosseini s novel, The
Kite Runner, illustrates the value of loyalty in the relationships between Hassan and Amir,

Hassan spends his whole life believing his mother does not care about him or his father. By the
time Sanaubar does take an interest, Hassan already moves on onto the next stage in his life.
Sanaubar finally realizes what she misses by leaving Ali and Hassan. Sohrab is the perfect
situation to show her true loyalty, as shown through this excerpt: I remember Sanaubar came out
of the hut, holding her grandson, had him wrapped in a wool blanket. She stood beaming under a
dull grey sky, tears streaming down her cheeks, the needle cold wind blowing her hair, and
clutching that baby in her arms like she never wanted to let go. Not this time. (211).
The Kite Runner contains excellent examples of symbols, and a possible symbol in the book is
Sohrab. When reading a book, objects or things are distinctly seen as symbols rather than people.
Sohrab stands out as a character that has such an influence on others that he could be considered
on of The Kite Runner s symbols. He is the only thing that Amir can connect to from his former
life after Baba passed and Rahim Khan disappeared. He is the exact person that Sanaubar needed
to come into her life. Sanaubar comes back because something was missing: a son. Sohrab is her
second chance to demonstrate her loyalty, her opportunity for redemption. Trinter 3 Towards the
beginning of the novel, Hosseini makes the reader feel that Baba is purposely trying to be distant

  • 2. Truth Of Civilization Lord of the Flies by William Golding includes many truths of society, including how one s authority can influence the way people live. The most important truth Golding was trying to explain, was that a civilized society such as the boys living on the island can alter greatly to savagery. The boys experience pain, fear, and betrayment while being stranded on the island. Golding discusses the truth of civilizationby describing the way the boys live on the island similar to The Giverand The Hunger Games. The Lord of the Flies explores the truth of civilization by describing the lifestyle on the island. Ralph kept the boys close to modern day society by assigning everyone a job and keeping the signal fire going. The boys were all given a big ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 3. So Trump Makes Spelling Errors Analysis In So Trump Makes Spelling Errors. In the Twitter Age, Whoo Doesn t? Farhad Manjoo shows popular spelling errors made by Donald Trump in his tweets, expressing that one puts too much weight on spelling and other typographical mistakes, stating that Twitter is a place for immediacy and when one chooses to pay more attention to errors in spelling it blinds us to content instead of paying attention to the unvarnished, unfiltered view of [Trump s] or anyone else s mind. Manjoo, displays in his article several examples of spelling mistakes made by world renowned politicians and his own spelling errors to demonstrate that criticizing grammatical errors in tweets, it is elitist and makes one not focus on what people say but leads to losing the grasp of the more essential crucial issue that is at stake. Manjoo showcases his affection for defending grammatical errors claiming that people are attracted to spelling and it is a forgivable sin for politicians to misspell as spelling correctly has become an important mainstay of the modern public education system. With the white supremacist march that took place in Virginia this year, it was a viral and significant topic regarding cultural oppression today. Trump tweeted praising the marches saying that Sometimes you need... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He himself, being an editor for the New York Times, deliberately makes spelling errors to show that anyone can make grammar mistakes, but that is not what people should be concerned about. Manjoo misspells trump and even in the title of this article, he adds an extra letter in who to grasp the attention of the reader. He does this to prove the point that when focusing and criticizing on the spelling errors one would not read the article or in his defense, the tweet. Or would read it and completely ignore the fact that it was a racist tweet because they were too busy trying to be conceited with checking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Frederick Douglass Disobedience This quote sparks interest due to disobedience often containing a negative connotation. However, in this quote disobedience is honorable, and to be called disobedient is a compliment. According to Wilde, disobedience is beneficial and without it social progress could not be made. Without disobedience, society is unable to change or improve from past mistakes. Without rebellion or disobedience, what will promote people to act on their injustices? Rebellion and disobedience are beneficial in promoting social progress. Through it, citizens are able to bring issues and injustices they want acknowledged to the forefront. Through these ways, they try to make the world a better place for everyone and to bring people to the realization as to why the issues that they face are at fault and that they should be restored. In relation to the novel, The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Frederick Douglass s disobedience ultimately sparked his freedom. Being introduced to the heart rending shrieks from his aunt at such a young age, slavery has implanted a long lasting effect on his life. Often times, when one experiences a painful memory in the manner such as, watching a family member hit until they are covered with blood, sparks a fire to stand up for what is right in the back of their mind. Douglass carried those visions of his aunt along with him his whole life, as well as his own repulsive images and memories. These memories brought him to his jurisdiction of fighting back ... • 6. The Movement Of Positive Psychology The movement of positive psychology is a reminder that our field and study has been focusing on things like anxiety, disease, weakness, and damage. This movement urged us to shift our focus to include the study of strength and virtue as well. Positive psychology is stating that the field of psychology is more than just the study of illness or health but rather it is also about work, education, insight, love, growth, and play (Seligman, 2002). Positive psychologyis the study of strengths that enable individuals and communities to thrive and it is founded on the belief that people want to lead meaningful and fulfilling lives. Pain, suffering, and death can be integrated into positive psychology through the idea of what gives us meaning in life. As human beings we are always looking for meanings in our life and how we should live. We want to cultivate what is best within ourselves. As suggested in the readings on death and dying, the authors stated that when people become aware of their mortality, they become freer and even more compassionate (Martin, Campbell, Henery). This is because when we realize that there is no escaping death, we no longer live life by societal norms and rules but rather live life by our own rules. We learn to embrace life differently by focusing on the positive aspect of our life knowing that death is waiting. From a positive psychology perspective, we are shifting our focus from the negative aspects of our life to the mores positive aspects ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Aristotle tells us that three things Inspire confidence in the rhetor s [speaker s/writer s] own character the three, namely, that induce us to believe a thing apart from any proof of it: good sense, good moral character, and goodwill. Martin Luther King establishes all three concepts that Aristotle reveals to us, and in King s speech he uses good morals frequently because he is apart of the African American society and relates to everything that is happening. Martin Luther King Jr. establishes ethos throughout his famous I Have A Dreamspeech and we can see this through his first statement that says I am happy to join with you today, this quotation shows that he is not just another speaker, he is a man that is feeling and has felt what the people are going through. Being a mom with chronic illness feels almost impossible sometimes. My guilt revolves around not being able to be the super mom I always imagined myself being. I m not perfect, I m not always healthy, and I can t always do the things I want. This is my reality, and the truth is that all parents have to do the best that we can with what we have and be gentle with ourselves in the process. I feel guilty for missing events and milestones. Internal consistency describes the continuous results provided in any given test. It guarantees that a range of items measure the singular method giving consistent scores. The appropriateness would be to use the re test method in which the same test is given to be able to compare whether the internal consistency has done its job (Cohen Swerdlik, 2010). For example a test that could be given is the proficiency test which provides three different parts to the test, but if a person does not pass the test the same test is given again. Strengths The strength of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Weaknesses The weakness would be if the characteristics that are being measured assumed would change over time, and lower the test/retest reliability. If the measurements were due to variance other than error variance there would be a problem. If the reliability of a test is lower than the real measurement it may be because the construct may varies. Parallel and alternate forms The parallel and the alternative forms of test reliability utilize multiple instances of the same test items at two different time with the same participants (Cohen Swerdlik, 2010). These kinds of test of reliability measurement could be proper when a person is measuring traits over a lengthy period of time, but would not be proper if a person was to measure one s emotional state. Strengths The parallel and alternate form measure the reliability of the core construct during variances of the same test items. Reliability will go up when equal scores are discovered on multiple form of the same test. Internal consistency estimate of reliability can analyze the reliability of a test with the test taker going through several exams. Weaknesses The parallel and alternate form test takes up a lot of time and can be expensive along with bothersome for test takers who have to take different versions of the test over again. • 15. Strengths And Weaknesses Of Operant Conditioning Skinner s theory observes individuals from the point of view of the behavior that they demonstrate. The key weakness of this theory is its attempt to explain the behaviors of an individual solely through visible phenomena. Critics sometimes accuse behaviorists of denying that ideas and thoughts exist (Jensen Burgess, 1997). The major opposition that behaviorists face is that behavior of a person cannot be understood without including the mental activity of the individual. Critics have accused behaviorists of focusing only on behavior and ignoring the role of physiology, neuroscience, and genetics (Weiss Rosales Ruiz, 2014). His ability to get these soldiers and to push Mithridates back, shows his great military skills. This campaign was also important because it brought Rome into contact with the powerful Parthia Empire. He was able to arrange a treaty with Parthia, which was a milestone for Sulla. This would not be the last time he would meet Mithridates in battle. Soon Sulla and Marius again had to forget there many differences to defend Rome against Allied Italian forces who had declared war on Rome. They had set up their own government and were preparing to become an independent nation. This war was known as the Social War because the Latin name for Roman allies was socii. Personality thus becomes a concept strongly influenced by a basic urge for attention and respect. At a young age, these same goals are gained from parents the struggle extends to adulthood as common relations and peers. Frank Sulloway For a period, birth order was refuted and phased out from serious study. However, as a result of Sulloway s release of his own studies, birth order theories gained respect once again (Paulhus, Trapnell, Chen, 1999). Frank Sulloway follows Adler s theory in the sense that he also believed sibling differences attributed to birth order resulted from competition between siblings. Sulloway (1996) held that siblings utilize differences in size and strength to overpower younger siblings. These younger siblings in turn resorted to counterstrategies in order to hold their ground against older siblings. Such a discussion is certainly reminiscent to Adler s own speculations. However, Sulloway s studies brought in a new dimension to the study of birth order. It was through his research that the Big Five Personality traits, namely Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism, were introduced into the study (Sulloway, 2001). • 25. Harmony Theory In Phaedo By Plato In Phaedo, by Plato, Phaedo recounts an incident with Socrates. The story starts with Socrates opening up saying that Philosophers should not only accept death, but welcome it. After all, although the body will pass, the soul is able to live on because it is immortal. He uses a lot of his intuition to back up his claim, but the main rationale is the Argument of Affinity. He claims that the world is very binary. Things are either incorporeal and invisible, or not. The body is physical, visible and corporeal. Things like the body that are visible are part of the sensible world and do not last. The soulhowever is not. It is invisible and incorporeal. That is why Socrates believes the soul is immortal. Harmony doesn t survive the lyre, but rather is dependent upon the lyre. The lyre is similar to the human body and soul. Harmony is divine and incorporeal. However, the human body is much like the lyre in that it is both corporeal and visible. Because the lyre is held together in the proper way and at the right degrees, it is able to exist just as the soul does only through the appropriate ways and make up of the human body. This leads to the point that just because things are invisible and incorporeal does not necessarily mean they are immortal. We need to think of the soul as a different type of harmony. Socrates objects Simmias claims and refutes Harmony Theory many ways, but the one I find most notable is that Socrates believes that the soul is the master of the human body and directs and controls the body. Since the soul is eternal and the body is not, the soul controls the body throughout the entirety of its life. Socrates comments, further, of all parts of a man, can you mention any other part that rules him than his soul, especially if it is a wise soul? (Plato 132). Because it has this power, it tells the body what to do, where to move, and how to act. This is different than the harmony and the lyre. For example, on the other hand, we previously agreed that if the soul were a harmony, it would never be out of tune with the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The dark border of the image that surrounds the soft golden glow of the room not only emphasizes the alchemists stillness. The curved surface shape is repeated throughout the composition.A black circle, making out the edge of the painting, and a black point within this circle. This point within the circle is a very well known symbol for esotericists al chemistry and metaphysics. After this point within the circle has been seen the next what comes in view is a helix spiral line in the middle of the painting. More primal than being spiral in shape is the given that the line separates the circle into two parts. Such a separated circle symbolizes in esotericism . A circle stands for unity and when that unity is divided duality is symbolized. And the most primal duality presented in esotericism is that of spirit and matter. The spiral staircase that divides the room, the old man in front of a window and the man at the fire. The size of the room is the fireplace seems very large, the arched roof and window, thick stone walls and small arched door all point to a small place in a rather grand house, not to mention the spectacular spiral staircase. • 44. STI Surveillance System Analysis Evaluation of the Summerville County STI Surveillance System Introduction An STI Surveillance report was recently completed for Summerville County and its subsequent cities, and now, an evaluation is necessary to examine how well the system operates to meet its purpose and objectives (Lee et al., 2010). Public health surveillance systems should be evaluated periodically, and recommendations for improving quality in the system will be provided (Lee et al., 2010). The purpose of evaluating public health surveillance systems is to ensure that problems of public health importance are being monitored efficiently and effectively (CDC, 2001). Results that are generated from surveillance systems are not always free of errors; therefore, an evaluation is essential to produce a high quality STI surveillance system for Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, HIV AIDS, and Syphilis programs. Evaluating these errors and shortcomings will allow for higher accuracy in results and will further lend a hand in disseminating findings in an efficient and timely fashion. The analysis being provided, as well as other reports, will drastically play a role in helping Summerville with the burden of STIs. It is important to assess the quality of the surveillance system in order to maintain relevant surveillance data, otherwise time, money, and effort will have gone to waste. ... She once mentioned to Kingston the story of one particular baby that was born with something missing, One child born without an anus was left in the outhouse so that the family would not have to hear it cry (101). This is a case of infanticide that could not be stopped. A baby born without an anus, especially in the 1930s, generally has no hope of surviving. The parents left it in the outhouse so they would not have to hear it crying and suffering. Nonetheless, it is said that the baby lasted a long time, breathing as if it was trying to defecate for almost a week. While this infant was doomed from the second it was born, it fought to survive and lasted much longer than what the family and Brave Orchid expected. The substance behind this infanticide is to demonstrate that even the ill fated are still able to fight for survival. The result was an account of kings names, kingdoms foundations and legends that constitute a good study of the culture of the time. Together with this important history account we can find another relevant contribution of Bede s Ecclesiastical History, it has to do with the chronological system included in his work. Until that moment there were various dating systems that could create a clear confusion when trying to determine the exact date of a specific event. So what Bede realised was that all these systems had to be synchronized and he did it in the already existing system of the Anno Domini. In spite of the fact that he made some reasonable mistakes in setting dates, this achievement became a very reliable method of dating. But all these contributions could not have taken place without all the sources that Bede used in order to retail this history of the English People. These sources include witnesses who remembered or knew facts, manuscripts borrowed directly from Rome, several church records including Saints lives and Papal letters, in short, a wide range of evidences that could give a trustworthy basis to all his accounts. Now, it is Amir who has to prove to the world, and also to himself that he is worthy of Hassan s endless sincerity and devotion. She stood beaming under a dull grey sky, tears streaming down her cheeks, the needle cold wind blowing her hair, and clutching that baby in her arms like she never wanted to let go. Not this time.
