Equiano presents himself as an African, who is embattled with a myriad of issues enroute to a
foreign land. He starts off as a normal African boy that takes pride in the family unit. His life
changes as he is exposed to a life of slavery that makes him wonder just how far he would go to
regain his freedom. Equaino is celebrated due to his anti slave trade achievements, but rather
criticized for a lack of authenticity in his plight to free the world of slavery. He begins his
narrative with a brief insight into the person he was before being captured. We discover a
identity that is in the norm for African society. He presents himself as an African from Essaka,
which is in Eboe, and what is currently referred to as Nigeria. Equiano was born in 1745 and
was a member of the royal family. Moreover, he presents himself as a common African boy but
his family and origins state otherwise. Equiano is engaged in a family that from the onset
practiced its form of slavery through ownership of servants. His father gives the audience a sense
of hypocrisy on Equiano s part when he rebukes slave trade. The identity of the character Equiano is

It is with great news that I write to you on this momentous day, brother. I have finally landed in
San Francisco. About time as well. I don t think I was ever able to gain sea legs. Now, it is time
for me just like our fellow countrymen abroad to serve Japan in expanding her influence. While
aboard the ship, I was able to to study the guides. There was a lot of useful information in all of
them. I believe I gained a great deal from How to Go to America Alone.
We stopped in Honolulu to pick up more travelers. Many were fellow Japanese who were leaving

It is well known that different writers have different writing styles. Even when writing about the
same chair at the same time, Edgar Allen Poe and Jack London would describe it in very
different manners. This all boils down to the stylistic and rhetorical differences in the two men s
writing styles. This situation is the same as the two given passages. Two different authors both
visited the Galapagos Islands during the nineteenth century and wrote about their experiences.
As one would have guessed, the two passages do not say the same thing in the same way. These
two authors have very different essays due to the differences in their style and used rhetoric.
Passage one is rather short compared to the second passage. This passage also seems to have

A Student Board Representative For My School District
Fifteen years ago, I served as the student board representative for my school district. All I can
really remember is being entertained by emotional parent complaints and listening to jargon
filled presentations. Upon receiving my first pink slip from that same district seven years later,
I spoke at a school board meeting for the first time. Three years later, I was motivated by another
pink slip to speak in front of a school board this time as a teacher for my current school district,
San Diego County Office of Education (SDCOE) Juvenile Court and Community Schools
(JCCS). Since that first pink slip scare with JCCS, I have been a regular attendee at SDCOE
board meetings. I try my best to pay attention and even take notes when JCCS is on the agenda. I
have spoken on behalf of my students and coworkers and even helped to introduce my site s

How do monsters affect people? Monsters can affect people in many different ways. Monsters

Wiesel, him and his family are being targeted by the Nazis because they are Jewish. They are

deporting them to concentration camps. They were crammed into cattle cars and separated
from family. Elie says, What s more, if I felt anger at that moment it was not directed at the Kapo
