Benefits and Pitfalls of Short-selling Shares
Benefits and pitfall of short selling
Short selling is the borrowing of shares in companies whose market value is believed to go down.
The sellers gain profit when they buy back the shares at a lower price (Investopedia, n.d.). The
benefits of short selling include facilitating market efficience, driving down overprice shares,
increasing liquidity of stock markets and exposing financial fraud. The CFA Institute believes that
short selling enables participants to quickly and accurately adjust securities prices to reflect investor
opinions about valuations (Smith, 2012), hence improving marketing efficiency. It also shortens the
time taken to discover corporate misconduct and predict firms who will be involved in financial
misconduct (Foster, 2009).
However, short selling has its limitation as well. Firstly, it has detrimental effect which weakens
investors confidence in financial markets. It gives rise to short term market volatility and cause
severe damage to investors confidence when share prices decline. Secondly, there is an unlimited
risk involved as there is no limit to the amount of money the short seller can lose, the price of the
share can increase forever (IG, n.d.). Lastly, the companies involved would need to preserve their
reputation and pay for the negative publicity with higher funding costs (Smith, 2012).

The Importance Of Leadership And An Organization
Leadership is both practical skills and research areas concerning the capability of an organisation
or individual to guide or lead other individuals, organisations or teams. It is a process of
influencing people socially where a person can register the support and aid of other individuals for
the accomplishment of common tasks (Kvalnes, 2014). This is when the interpersonal skills come
into use. Proper communication among all the hierarchies of the organisation is very important to
achieve the desired goals (Korde, Eckert, Nielsen Lazo Giffen, 2011).
Leadership is very important in any organisation to function smoothly. The goal of big and small
businesses is to maintain the satisfaction of their customers and clients. All successful businesses
and organisations need leaders who are effective (Tracy, 2014). Leaders in professional teams
require various essential skills that have a direct relation with how they cooperate with the other
workers and lead the teams to attain the targets and achieve high returns on investment. The leaders
help in communication and formulation of new, effective strategic decisions to reach the target or
the desired goals. Leaders need to be resilient and agile to focus on the socio political shifts and
digital necessity inside the organisation. Their correct and proper decisions help companies to
survive and yield better results during the crisis period. Maintaining a healthy relationship with the
clients and the customers can only be attained

Identify The Different Types Of Retainers
We all know that one day those braces will come off. At that time your orthodontist creates your
new retainer. We all know the retainer is an important part of the teeth straightening process. If you
do not wear the retainer prescribed by your orthodontist, your teeth will go back to their earlier
placement. Your teethwill line up exactly as they looked before you got braces. Your teeth are held
in place by periodontal ligaments. It takes a long time for the periodontal ligaments to adjust when
the teeth are straightened. Therefore, orthodontists created retainers to keep your teeth straight, in
perfect alignment. Basically, your orthodontist has a choice of three different types of retainers As
a patients this is not something you get to choose; the orthodontist chooses the best retainer for
each patient. Some of the retainers are removable and others are permanently attached. Retainers
which are permanently attached can only be removed by the orthodontist.... Show more content on

Through the use of plaster impressions and x rays, the orthodontist determines which retainer
works best for the patient. There are three basic types of retainers. The Hawley retainer is the most
common retainer, preferred by many orthodontists. Molded to fit your mouth, the retainer has a
piece of wire used to keep your teeth in perfect alignment. The acrylic retainer is easily removed. It
can easily be altered or customized; just incase those perfectly aligned teeth start to move out of

The General, The Slave Who Became A Gladiator
The first movie that pops up to someone s mind when we say Drama is Gladiator released in the
year 2000 which is considered historical drama. Ridley Scott works on an inspiring, mesmerizing
and action packed flick to trigger the human feelings of strength, honor, courage, betrayal,
ruthlessness and survival. The character that Russell Crowe plays as the gladiatorsends the audience
back home motivated to fight for what they believe in following what he mentioned in the movie
what we do in life, echoes in eternity . The supporting character in the movie, in specific is the
slave that accompanies the gladiator the whole time reflects the slogan of the movie The General
who became a Slave, the Slave who became a Gladiator .
The Cinematic Style that Ridley Scott develops in the film is dynamic, bravely reflected and acted
genuinely. Yet while discussing the plot we can consider it thrilling but flat. Just when the plot is
heating up the steam is gone. Plus the movement of the sword fights looks like they are on fast
forward.
Scott chose New York and Washington as a geographical area to film. The heroic architecture
setting reflect the geographical area that is portrayed The heroic mode is triumphant and absolute;
it reflects realism in both plot and performance Day, G ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In my opinion, this is the core of the movie where Scott just tosses it away and the tension drain
out onto the floor, where there is still one hour for the movie to end. The movie is condensing of
plot fragments from the two Roman films from Hollywood Ben Hur (1959) and Spartacus
(1960). If we want to speak of it simply, it is about a betrayed lord seeking revenge, and a
gladiator revolt. The major problem is that Maximus can t be both a gladiator and a player in
imperial politics because this splits the focus. The plot is interesting yet uncomplicated at the same

Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay
Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society,
a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to
further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke
of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many
Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination
of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the
changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit
the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed
programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern
liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination
of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he
also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society.
Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C.
Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while
addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. A
politician that Johnson looked up to was Franklin D.

Violence in the Athletic World
HHPR 878 99 We can pretend that sports are not the main source of entertainment in today s
society. Whether we are athletes playing the sport, avid fans watching our teams and their
statistics, or the coaches, it is our character to always be in tuned to what is going on in the
competitive sports world. Now, our competitive nature can either give us an edge in life or, in
opposition, can cause us to burn bridges. To elaborate, being competitive shows determination, hard
work, and is a form of utilizing our gifted talents, resulting in positive outcomes; this is referring to
anything in life, not just athletics. On the other hand, being competitive to the point that we are
losing teammates, friends, and those close to us shows poor sportsmanship and can have a negative
effect on character. Physical violenceis just one among the many different types of violence in
today s athletic world. Some of the more common non physical abuses among both male and
female athletes are substance abuse, eating disorders, and verbal abuse/emotional stress. Although
these are not physical, they have the potential to eventually lead to physical violence and injuries.
We all have heard numerous theories of steroid and substance abuse. It can cause not only physical
changes to the body, but can also cause emotional and psychological alterations, including
aggressive behavior that is not easily controlled. The use of performance enhancing drugs is not a
recent conflict; it has been talked of

The Paradox Of A Paradox
Introduction
A paradox is a statement or idea that is contradictory in nature giving opposing meanings at the
same time. The use of paradoxes has been employed to engage readers to be part of the story or
poem; readers are tempted to pay more attention. There are direct types of paradoxes ranging from
situational paradoxes to verbal paradoxes. Most literature deals with situational paradoxes as well
of verbal paradoxes depending on what the writer wants to share.
Veridical paradoxusually describes a situation that is logically true although it may sound
ridiculous. On the other hand, a falsidical paradox presents a problem that usually uses incorrect
assumptions to justify an, otherwise, wrong results. An antimony paradox is a self referential
paradox lays out a set of conditions and then asks a question, the resolution of which becomes self
contradictory, resulting to lack of a valid answer. On the other hand, a dialetheia paradox claims that
opposite statements can be both simultaneously true.
In the book Fifth Walk, the Rousseau has employed numerous paradoxes that are focused on his
personality and his state of solitude. There is substantial number of paradoxes that the writer has
employed most of which focus on his state of solitude. In the story, the writer narrates how he
wished he could stay longer than just two months. He further regrets that he should have stayed for
two centuries or the whole eternity in the island. A paradox is revealed where he mentions that

Examples Of Inside The Federalist Paper
Looking into the old governmental policies that helped shape our amazing Constitutional Republic
today, I ve noticed quite a few policies that are still in use today, and for the most part, remain
unchanged. Inside The Federalist Papers, by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay,
are a great way to locate the old governmental policies that are still the same today in America. In
Federalist No. 1, Alexander Hamiltonwrites of the importance and success of the Constitution as
the government. He is very biased throughout the entire essay, but is at least aware of his bias. He
talks about his bias and he forces his opinions on the readers throughout the entire speech. This
discussion of bias actually opened withing and because of this essay and leads the entire Federalist
Papersto be quite biased. However, this bias is not bad and turned out to be very persuasive to the
anti federalists. In Federalist No. 2, written by John Jay, includes much important information about
how the nation needs to be united. He also lets the people supporting the division of the United
States know that their way is not the right way for the country. It would completely weaken and
disarm the country. Jay s message in all of this essay is about the importance of the nation s unity.

The Causes Of HIV And AIDS
AIDS is one of the world s most deadly diseases. AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is
caused by the progression of the HIV virus. HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. Unlike
some other viruses, the human body can t get rid of HIV completely. According to AIDS.gov, once
you have HIV, you have it for life. HIVattacks the body s immune system, specifically the CD4
cells (T cells), which help the immune system fight off infections. If left untreated, HIV reduces
the number of CD4 cells (T cells) in the body, making the person more likely to get infections or
infection related cancers. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body cannot
fight off infections and disease. The diseases include a number of severe infections, cancers and
devastating illnesses, resulting in severe weight loss or wasting away, and diseases affecting the
brain and central nervous system. These infections or cancers take advantage of a very weak
immune system and signal that the person has AIDS, the last state of HIV infection. This is the
affect of AIDS on the body. (AIDS.gov)
According to the Mayo Clinic website, the symptoms of HIV and AIDS differ depending on the
person and the stage of the disease. They typical stages are the early stage, the clinical latency
stage, or AIDS (the late stage of HIV infection). Discussed below are the symptoms and effects
on the body that may be experienced at the different stages. During the early stage of HIV, some
people may experience a flu like illness within 2 4 weeks after HIV infection. The flu like
symptoms can include fever, chills, rash, night sweats, muscle aches, sore throat, fatigue,
swollen lymph nodes and mouth ulcers. These symptoms can last from a few days to several
weeks. After the early stage of HIV infection, the disease moves into a stage called the clinical
latency stage ( chronic HIV infection ). During this stage, HIV is still active but reproduces at
very low levels. People with chronic HIV infection may not have any HIV related symptoms, or
only mild ones. Eventually the virus weakens the body s immune system and it progresses to
AIDS, which is the late stage of HIV infection. These symptoms can include rapid weight loss;

The Pros And Cons Of Bronx Family Law

So, there could be several contracts that you and your spouse may enter in the course of your

My Educational Experience In High School
My educational past is complicated to say the least. Starting in the fourth grade, my mother pulled
me out of traditional schooling to homeschool me, while she ran a home daycare; however, while
the idea of being homeschool sounded great in the mind of a fourth grader my mind of a 20 year
old knows this wasn t the best idea for my educational experience. Until about the 8th grademy
mother, an alcoholic, rather than teaching me used me to work in her daycare while she grew more
and more incapable due to her growing addiction. Starting in the 8th gradeI began to attend a co op
funded by the Tahoma school district, (Russell Ridge Center). Once I began making connections
with both peers and teachers, I began to realize how much I had missed out on both social and
educational standards that were met by a typical 8th grader. With the help of free tutoring from a
select few teachers I confronted about wanting to gain academic knowledge, I slowly caught up to
the standard educational goals, then pushed myself to succeed further. I became captain of our high
schoolprograms debate team, earned the lead role in three musicals, and became stage manager of
our local high schools theater stage. My Junior year, I began to attend Green River Community
College as part of the Running Start program, earning a 3.5 GPA by the end of my first year. The
next year I continued but ran into some obstacles. As time went on my mothers addiction grew ten
fold. It came to the point of physical abuse,

He got kicked out of the high school he was attending. Since he got kicked out, he is now scared
to go home and have his parents find out. He is also very immature in the way he lies about
anything and everything he can. I think he is a compulsive liar and he lies for his own amusement.

Hobsbawm s Theory on the General Crisis of the 17th Century
Hobsbawm s Theory on the General Crisis of the 17th century
It is generally accepted by historians that there was a В‘crisis that blanketed all of Europe during
the 17th century. A myriad of revolts, uprisings and economic contractions occurred almost
simultaneously and had a profound impact on the socio economics of the entire continent. The
topic for discussion in this paper is the effects that this В‘crisis had on Europe and its
developments. In particular, the focus will be on Marxist historian Eric Hobsbawm, and his theory
that the 17th century crisis was the catalyst for the transition from feudal society to capitalism in
England and ultimately the genesis of the industrial revolution. Hobsbawm argues that it was the
crisis of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However even if it is a given that there was an inadequate concentration of capital in prior to the
17th century to establish capitalism, Hobsbawm still fails to demonstrate how the crisis affected to
use of capital, a topic which will be discussed later in this paper.
Hobsbawm argues that there was no division of labor under feudal society to enable mass
production leading to capitalistic profits. However Lublinskaya shows that there was a
concentration of disperse manufactures in Germany, Spain and especially France who had already
established large scale manufacturing using division of labor since the early 16th century. So it can
hardly be said that this necessary criteria for capitalism was missing in, or originated by the 17th
century . Hobsbawm also makes the claim that the continue exploitation of the peasantry under
feudalism reduced their capacity as a cash consumers . This hindered demand for mass produced
goods and thus providing companies with little incentive to become active in more revolutionary
capital enterprises. However Lublinskaya points out that the continual exploitation of the peasantry
eventually forces them to resort to the sale of their labor power making them a cash consumer. This
feudal system of exploitation did not ultimately reduced demand but stimulated it .
Another critic of Hobsbawm s theory was historian, H.R. Trevor Roper. In his paper, General Crisis
of the Seventeenth Century, he attacks

Artemis Vs Amaterasu Essay
Amaterasu and Artemis are two gods that unsurprisingly enough are vastly different. What I found
though was it was not what power they held that made them different, but the culture that
surrounded them. That the birth of two goddesses could divide how one is closer to us humans
than the other. Of how a role in a pantheon and just a few myths can shatter you re understanding
of why a goddess has power. Last of all, how the nature of what symbolizes a godhow we perceive
her.
In discussing the two goddesses I find that is important to look back their conception and how they
were brought into being comes to affect our understanding from a theological standpoint. As with
most gods in ancient myth, the birth of the two is unusual but for two very different reasons.
Starting with Artemis it should be noted that she actually does have parents, in this case, Zeus and
Leto. Her birth on the island of Delos where she was able to act as midwife for her brother
Apollo. Now, what s interesting here is that besides for Leto s prolonged pregnancy that was

My Experience With Severe Anxiety
When I reflect on everything that has happened thus far in my lifetime, I am amazed at how far
I have come. I was born on May 31st, 1998. My mom was in college when she had me, and my
father worked two jobs to support the family. They worked incredibly hard to make sure that I
had a good and comfortable life. They never gave up, even when they were loaded with their
many responsibilities, because they cared so much for me and my future. I truly admire them for
that. They instilled the value of preserving, and never giving up, no matter how tough your
challenges in life are. This value is very important to me, and I believe that I would not be where
I am today if I didn t stay true to this value. This value has been especially important when I have
had to deal with severe anxiety.
I have dealt with anxiety my entire life. The anxiety became especially intense during my freshman
year of high school. It began to severely interfere with my schooling, to the point where I could not
even attend school. I many attempts to continue to attend school, but these attempts would often
end with me having a severe panic attack. This constant failure to attend school sent me into a
bout of depression. All of these factors led to the decision for me to be put into home hospital,
where I would do all my schoolwork at home, and work with a teacher who came to my house for
an hour each day. This would allow me to focus on receiving professional help with my anxiety. I

Abandonment In Siddhartha
In the beginning of the novel, Hesse artfully defines Siddhartha as the most intelligent, dashing
young man of his village. The untouchable Siddhartha, however, is unsatisfied with his life. Instead,
he is possessed by an unquenchable thirst for enlightenment. He rejects his father s dreams, he
rejects his teachers, and he even rejects the honorable teachings of Buddha because he honestly
believes that they cannot help him in his journey to enlightenment.
On the other hand, why would Hesse demonstrate Siddhartha s consistent behavioral pattern of
abandonment? Understandably, when a student learns all that he or she can from a tutor or a
mentor, they would want to move on, learning advanced subjects or skills. It s a natural path. One
cannot continue to learn addition for the rest of their lives. So, it s shocking that when Siddhartha
finally meets the best teacher in all of Asia, Buddha, he bluntly disagrees with his wisdom. Hesse
purposely did this. In order for Siddhartha to continue his spiritual pilgrimage, he needed to be
narcissistic. However, it s ironic. He states: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Psychological Theories, Freudian, Object Relational, And...
In this paper, the author will delineate the following developmental theories, Freudian, Object
Relational, and the main components found in Attachment. The main theorists that will be
addressed include, Sigmund Freud, John Bowlby, Mary Ainsworth, and some work of Melanie
Klein. The author will provide a detailed explanation on attachment and object relations theory and
how it can be incorporated with a client who is suffering from Anorexia Nervosa and how the
impact of development correlates with this specific clientele. As well as, examples of therapeutic
interventions utilized in a clinical setting will be explored through the course of this paper.

During the latency stage, the child/client begins to imitate their behaviors, mannerisms, speech, and
values of culture. For instance, this will initially allow the child to identify with their primary
sexual characteristics towards the corresponding parent, leading to increased sexual desires and
behaviors. Sexual latency begins from the age of six and lasts approximately five years. The child
begins to associate with the same sex orientation and is able to distinguish appropriate behaviors in
society, creating the superego. The genital phase begins from the ages of eleven to eighteen, which
comprises of increased pleasure from masturbation and is experienced more frequently than the anal
stage. Freud rationalized that all individuals are homosexual creatures; however, individuals do not
experience homosexual behaviors or relationships. Throughout this stage, individuals will begin to
formulate relationships with the opposite sex, which supersedes further development of the
superego leading to individuation and autonomy (Garcia, 1995).
In the next sections, the author will discuss the framework of attachment theory by John Bowlby
and Mary Ainsworth since both theorists worked collaboratively with attachment styles and object
relations theory. John Bowlby coined the theory of attachment based on the object relations

Heroin Problem
Heroins cheap and widely available status has spread to many cities throughout the United States;
these users are buying and shooting up right away, often in public. Many police officers find users
unconscious or dead in cars, restaurants, in parks, hospitals, and libraries. Not only does this add to
visibility of the drug to public eye, but leaving behind dirty needles in these public locations lead to
a health hazard. The heroinepidemic needs to be stopped immediately by understanding where the
problem starts, the effects of the drug, and educating the public about treatment, addiction, and the
problems the addiction causes on a personal level. Keeping heroin addiction under control can lead
to less overdoses and a more positive future for the youth of this county.
Most of the time, heroin addicts are addicted to another form of prescription opioid, which makes
this the root of the problem. When these people cannot get ahold of their drug of choice, many turn

Quantum Mechanics Essay
Quantum Mechanics
Quantum Mechanics is the science of subatomic particles and their behavior patterns that are
observed in nature. As the foundation of scientific knowledge approached the start of the
twentieth century, problems began to arise over the fact that classic physical ideas were not
capable of explaining the observed behavior of subatomic particles. In 1913, the Danish physicist
Neils Bohr, proposed a successful quantum model of the atom that began the process of a more
defined understanding of its subatomic particles. It was accepted in the early part of the twentieth
century that light traveled as both waves and particles. The reason light appears to act as a wave
and particle is because we are noticing the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This observance is what Werner Heisenberg refereed to as the principle of uncertainty, which
commonly became known as Heisenberg s Uncertainty Principle. We have the illusion that position
and momentum can co exist in large objects whose inherent action is huge compared to subatomic
particles. Heisenberg realized that the uncertainty relations had profound implications. Heisenberg
set himself to the task of finding the new quantum mechanics to explain what his theories
observed. He relied on what can be observed, namely the light emitted and absorbed by the atoms.
By July 1925, Heisenberg wrote his answer in a paper. The basic idea of Heisenberg s paper was to
get rid of the orbits in atoms and to arrive at new mechanical equations. Heisenberg s approached
focused mainly on the particle nature of electrons. The mathematics Heisenberg used were tables
commonly used for multiplication of arrays of numbers mathematical objects known as matrices.
Using the mathematics of matrices, scientists had at last a new mechanics for calculating the
quantum behavior of particles. Heisenberg, and others showed that the new quantum mechanics
could account for many of the properties of atoms and atomic events.
Most physicists were slow to accept matrix mechanics because of its abstract nature. Erwin
Schrodinger came up with a mathematical equation which nicely described the wave nature of
electrons. Scientists gladly

fats are found predominantly in olives, olive oil, sunflower and sesame oils, nuts and nut oils,

fats. Consume extra virgin olive oil or other nut oils that are unrefined. Cold pressed and
Expeller pressed oils are the best oils to choose as they retain most of their nutritious properties.
Choose organic whenever possible. Polyunsaturated Fats Polyunsaturated fats are associated
with both positive and negative effects, which are directly attributed to the ratio of omega 6 to
omega 3 fatty acids in the diet. These terms refer to the chemical make up of the types of fats,
which each affect the body in different ways. We need to have both of these fats in our diets, in
approximately a ratio of 1:1. However, Americans tend to consume way too many omega 6 fats.
The omega 6 to 3 ratio is currently between 20:1 and 40:1 for most Americans whereas a hundred
years ago it was much closer to 1:1. This dramatic shift toward omega 6 dominance is believed to
have much to do with the rise of chronic illness in the past century. In fact, it has been found that
people diagnosed with learning disorders, depression and schizophrenia can have ratios in the
range of 50:1 to 70:1!! Inflammation is a common component of many of today s chronic disease
conditions: heart disease, arthritis, cancer, etc. Omega 3

An Intensity Discrimination Study Search
Abstract
An intensity discrimination study searching to find out how many exposures of a stimulus it takes
in order for context coding to operate. It was predicted that there would be an increase in the
percentage of correct intensity discriminations as the number of trials increased because a roving
standard was used which allowed for context coding. Participants were given an intensity
discrimination task where two tones of different intensities were presented. Participants were asked
to indicate which was louder. Results showed that there was no improvement among any of the 6
trials, thus concluding that context coding did not take place within 6 trials.
Introduction
Ones discriminatory ability in audition is considered to be the ability to detect a change in a given
auditory stimulus whenever one of its dimensions is increased or decreased. One topic in keen
interest of research is the role of memory in discriminating sound attributes. A dimension often
studied is frequency. To investigate the ability to discriminate frequency, two tones are presented to
a listener with an inter stimulus interval. The listener then indicates which tone is higher in pitch.
Changes in interval length is used to investigate the role of memory when discriminating sounds
attributes. Anderson (1914) studied inter stimulus intervals up to 4 seconds in relation to
discrimination and concluded that all intervals tested are equally favourable, with a slight
deterioration in the 4 second

The Case Against Beilis And Frank Essay
The first, as well as most basic, difference between the cases against Beilis and Frank, lies in the
evidence against them. It is no exaggeration to say that there was no case against Beilis.
Although it is true that the victim s body was found close to the brick factory, there was abundant
corroboration that Beilis was preoccupied on the day of Andrei s disappearance. Numerous
factory workers came forward to testify that not only did they not see Andrei near the factory, but
that they had even given Beilis receipts to sign (Levin 241 242). Additionally, when the factory
was investigated, Vasily Fenenko, the investigating magistrate, reported that nothing suspicious
was found (Levin 52). The lack of physical evidence was not the only element in Beilis favor. The
motive of ritual murder, which the prosecution had suggested, was extremely unsubstantiated.
Although Russian experts eventually came forward to assert that Andrei s body had been drained
of blood, the first autopsy report, as previously mentioned, made no mention of excessive blood
loss. Furthermore, British doctors who were familiar with the details of the case concluded that it
appears to us quite impossible that the boy was killed for the purpose of collecting blood (Levin

authorities who testified to the erroneousness of this assertion, the prosecution, itself, admitted that

Rebel Without a Cause the song was more an unknown type of mentality. When I heard the song

Initially animals used to have very long time span in that goats or even cattle could stay for
years and yet they are still very productive. This has certainly changed as result of climatic
changes. The animals used to live longer as a result of cold temperatures that used to slow down
their rates of metabolism hence the longer life span. Temperatures today are very high as a result
of climatic changes. The increased temperatures have actually led to increase in the metabolic
rate of the animals hence the reduction in the life span. This explains why animals today cannot

climatic conditions usually increase the life span of animals or even plants by more than 20

Indian Imperialism
Rudyard Kipling stated, East is East and West is West, and never the twain shall meet (Velgen
240). One of the main questions posed by this novel, as asked by Mahmoud Ali and Hamidullah,
is whether or not it is possible to be friendly with the Englishmen. The book serves as an example
as to how difficult it might seem to achieve unity when there s diversity already present. This
question is answered through discovering the personal relationships among the main characters in
the novel and analyzing the effects of imperialism on the exploitation of those personal
relationships. Set in British colonial India, the novel explores cultural, religious, and political
barriers and the hostility between the subjects and the ruling class. India, a country already known
to be diverse within itself and containing innumerable groups formed by social hierarchy and
distinct traditions, was unaware of a society in which people of different backgrounds live in unity.

A Perfect Day For Bananfish By Jerome Salinger
The short story, A Perfect Day for Bananfish written by Jerome Salinger in 1948, is based on the
idea of how people change through war. The main character, Seymour, has just gotten out of the
military and is on vacation with his wife in Florida. Through his wife s conversations, it is made
apparent that Seymour has developed mental issues since returning home and these issues are
shown through Seymour s longing for isolation throughout the story. The unusual part of this
fictional tale is the fact that many aspects of Seymour s life reflect the authors. A Perfect Day
for Bananafish does not just inform the audience of the severity of an unknown mental illness,
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD, but it almost acts as Salinger s way to express his true
emotion about life. PTSD is a mental illness that affects many men and women leaving war. It
usually occurs in someone who has experienced a shocking, scary or dangerous event; i.e. war.
Most of the time PTSD is a recurring illness that involves having bad dreams, flashbacks, and
cognitive and mood symptoms. This mental illness can have serious effect on ones personality for
the rest of their life. People who suffer from PTSD typically have negative thoughts about the
world around them and have a loss of interest in the enjoyable activities. Currently there are many
treatments for PTSD like medications and psychotherapy. Treatment for PTSD differs depending on
the person and the severity of their illness (NIMH).

created for you the same lies and deceit. But in my world you have nothing to fear. The audience
are torn between supporting Truman in his long awaited new life or wishing him to stay in
Seahaven were they can watch him and be part of his life. Truman s answer had also likened him
to being the second Adam to being Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself and is ressurected to a
new life as Truman sacrificed his seemingly perfect world where his life is controlled for the sick
place where he has freedom. Symbolism was used to show the audience how courageous and heroic
Truman is.
In conclusion, Weir used dialogue, movement of actors, props and symbolism to develop the
character, truman Burbank. In all of the characters in the film, only Truman showed a change in
character. He was always wishing to get out of Seahaven, yearning for an adventure and a new life.
But he never did anything to do it; he let his fears and uncertainty to get the best of him. He chose

The Primordial Soup Hypothesis
All of these hypotheses are similar and different in many ways. They were all similar in the way
that they revealed many possible ways of how the world started. They were all different, because
they were all different theories of how biomolecules came to be. As technology continues to
evolve along with the world many new ideas of how biomolecules came to be are sure to come up.
This helps increase out knowledge of the world and how it came to be.
The first of the biomolecule hypotheses was the Primordial Soup Hypothesis. The theory of the
Primordial Soup Hypothesis was that, life began in a body of water due to a mix of chemicals in
the atmosphere and a type of energy from amino acids. The scientists ... Show more content on

In 1977, scientists found biological life forms surviving around the sea floor. This suggested the
possibility that the vents provided biological life with the things they needed in order to survive.
They that suggested methanethiol (sulfur containing carbon compound) was the starter dough from
which all life emerged. The first people to test this hypothesis was geochemists, Eoghan Reeves,
Jeff Seewald, and Jill McDermott. They went to the hydrothermal vent sites, there they predicted
that they would find abundant methanethiol, their results had surprised them. Reeves said that their
claim from before was false, What we essentially found in our survey is that we don t think
methanethiol is forming by purely chemical means without the involvement of life. However, the
scientists still believe that hydrothermal vents are a great environment for new life to emerge.
The fourth of the biomolecule hypotheses was the RNA World Hypothesis. The RNA World
Hypothesis was proposed by Francis Crick in 1967. The hypothesis was that life begins with self
replicating RNA molecules. According to Crick s hypothesis genetic information is stored by RNA
and the RNA catalyzed the chemical reactions in primitive cells. However, later in time DNAtook
over as genetic material and proteins became the structural components of cells. RNA still
catalyzes several reactions in modern day cells, which can be viewed as molecular fossils of an

Repercussions Of Addiction
In some cases, the abuse of drugs doesn t always make an addict. In fact, addiction can derive
from the disguise of a smiling face and loving eyes. A living, breathing, and screaming reason to
resist the madness and take a leap. However, as A Mad Girl s Love Song by Sylvia Plath portrays,
infatuation coexists within a diminishing nature. Despite the growing lack of love, withdrawal has
found a way to take claim of the heart. In order to amplify the repercussions of a breaking heart,
Plath uses structure to display underlying emotions. Conducted in a verse form called an
villanelle, A Mad Girl s Love Song follows a pattern the repeating rhymes and refrains of I shut my

Buddhist Buddhism And Food Of Buddhism
Buddhist Vegetarianism and Foods
In China, Buddhism is an ancient religion with numerous followers. Vegetarians are generally
regarded as Buddhists because people know that Buddhism is a religion that prohibits eating meat.
Buddhism originated in ancient India, which found by a prince of realm called Gautama Buddha in
three thousand years ago. (Henry, 2012) It spread to China in the Western Han Dynasty. It not only
brought a new religion for China, but also had a profound impact on the vegetarian culture at that
time. We will describe the relationship between the Buddhism and its vegetarian culture through
food varieties of vegetarian diet, dishes, and the benefits to the human body.
Food varieties of Buddhist Vegetarianism
Buddhists mainly eat grains, legumes, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. A lot of people have
stereotype of Buddhist, which monks do not eat meat because it is considered breaking no killing
rule. However, that is not entirely true. Buddhism does not forbid its followers to eat meat at the
beginning. Moreover, there are many different stringent requirements for whether or what kind of
meat Buddhists can eat depend on different sects of Buddhism. Thus, Buddhism does not have a
uniform standard diet.
Views of different Religious Sect
Due to descendants different understanding and interpretation of the Dharma, the teachings,
doctrines has to be made to adapt the new environment. Buddhists who believe in different ideas

Disadvantage Of Instant Gratification
II. Impatience in Singaporeans
In an age where everybody is largely accessible, our environment has become one where it
encourages instant demand, and consequently, instant gratification a mindset of wanting something
at the exact moment of wanting it.
Living in an on demand society, frustrations and complaints will certainly mount when one s level
of gratification is not met. This is even more pronounced in Generation Z, as a significant greater
percentage of children are engaging in the use of mobile phones at a young age, an electrical device,
which encourages instant gratification. In fact, their parents, people of the millennia, have been
seemingly conditioned to a world based on instant gratification. An example would be our

At this point, the paper will be raising the concept of delay gratification the opposite of instant
gratification. In 1970, psychologist Walter Mischel conducted The Marshmallow Experiment,
an experiment famous for substantiating the effects of delay gratification. Children were given
a marshmallow by researchers and told the following: They could eat the marshmallow now and
not get anymore; or if they could wait until the researchers came back and receive a second
marshmallow. The researchers then proceeded to track these children into adulthood, regardless
of whether they decided to wait or not. The results of this experiment showed that children who
were willing to wait and delay gratification ended up having higher SAT scores, lower levels of
substance abuse, a lower likelihood of obesity, better responses to stress, and better social skills.
This was largely attributed to the fact that, if one has the ability to delay gratification of playing
before doing work, one will be more self disciplined to complete the pre assigned

Nationalism And Sectionalism In The 1800s
In the early 1800s, the North began to industrialize and the South relied more heavily on growing
cotton. At the same time, a rising sense of nationalism pulled people from different regions
together. Nationalism is a feeling of pride, loyalty, and protectiveness toward your country.
Sectionalism was when people had a feeling of pride in a small region or part of a nation. The War
of 1812 sent a wave of nationalist feeling through the United States. Representative Henry Clay,
from Kentucky, was a strong nationalist. After the war, President James Madison supported Clay s
plan to strengthen the country and unify its different regions. Nationalism and Sectionalism were
present during the early 1800s. The people who carried out Nationalism had pride in their whole
nation and the people who carried out Sectionalism had pride in part of a nation but, not the nation
as a whole. Nationalists based their actions off trying to benefit the whole nation, the idea of
nationalism was created to increase revenue in America. Sectionalism became a problem because
Americans either saw themselves as southerners or northerners and the country became very
divided. Sectionalism was one of the major reasons that the civil war began because of the divide
between the south and the north. Sectional sentiments challenged nationalism, but the latter
remained strong among the American people. Nationalism also prevailed due to the ideologies and
actions of the country s leaders in the executive and

Martha Stewart Insider Trading Scandal
America s most famous homemaker, Martha Stewart, is one of the business mavens involved in
an insider trading scandal in the late 2001. Born in 1941 as Martha Kostyra, she developed a
passion for gardening, cooking, and housekeeping at an early age. Her mother taught her the
basics of baking, cooking, canning, and sewing while her father introduced her to gardening. She
married Andrew Stewart while attending Barnard College in New York City. Martha started her
career as a successful stockbroker on Wall Street. In order to satisfy her childhood passions, she
left the stockbroker business and opened a gourmet food shop that became a catering business in
Westport, Connecticut. She is the founder and former CEO of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia,
Inc., engaged with television, publishing, electronic commerce, merchandising, and related
international partnerships. Stewart had an estimated net worth of $650 million prior to the insider
trading scandal. In the early 2000s, Stewart became the focus of headlines, speculation, and a
federal investigation concerning her stock trading. She was accused of insider trading after she
sold four thousand ImClone System s shares one day before the firm s stock price tumbled. The
firm s stock price plummeted as the Food and Drug Administration refused to review ImClone s

Fried Green Tomatoes Quotes
Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation,
conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. This famous
line, by Abraham Lincoln, highlights the fact that everyone is of equal value. On the other end of
the spectrum is the idea of discrimination. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop CafГ© was
written by Fannie Flagg, a well known American author. This novel takes place in the Deep South
and switches back and forth between the 1980s and the early 20th century, when discrimination
was rampant. Discrimination has two main definitions. Firstly it is defined as the ability to
recognize the difference between things that are of good quality and those that are not (Webster).
A second definition is the practice of unfairly treating a person or group of people differently from
other people or groups of people (Webster). The latter... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ageism is defined as prejudice or discrimination against a particular age group and especially the
elderly (Webster). On page 4, Virginia says, Mrs. Otis and I are from Whistle Stop ... her son
and daughter in law had a fit for her to come and live at the nursing home, and they asked me to
come with her. I told them I d stay with her for a while she doesn t know it yet, but I m going
back home just as soon as she gets settled in good. The family is actually dumping her and they
do that because she is getting old. They do not want to take care of either Mrs. Otis or Mrs.
Threadgood. Another example of ageism can be found on page 288. One day Evelyn Couch drives
to go shopping, she has to wait a while for a parking space to open up. When a car finally leaves, a
group of young girls take the empty spot. Evelyn said, Excuse me, but I was waiting for that
space and you pulled right in front of me. The girl looked at her with a smirk and said, Let s face

The Latin Root Of Genocide
According to Wikipedia, humiliation is the abasement of pride, which creates mortification, or leads
to a state of being humbled or reduced to lowliness or submission. The Latin root of humiliation is
humus , which means earth or dirt translating to reduce to dirt ; representing ones rank in society.
No one should have to experience the awful feeling of being humiliated, but it has been happening
for centuries, and it continues to happen in our society to this very day. Humiliation promotes
negative psychological thinking; it is used for punishment, to some it defines their status, and it
could prompt a terrible situation if intertwined with anger. A friend told me once that she is a firm
believer in humbling by humiliation. She feels

Fiscal Federalism in Nigeria
CHAPTER1
INTRODUCTION:
The question of an acceptable formula for revenue sharing among the component tiers of the
Nigerian nation is one of the most protracted and controversial debates in the political and
macroeconomic management of the economy. This debate has its foundations in the history and
evolution of the Nigerian federation.
Revenue allocation or the statutory distribution of revenue from the Federation Account among the
different levels of government has been one of the most contentious and controversial issues in the
nation s political life. So contentious has the matter been that none of the formulae evolved at
various times by a commission or by decree under different regimes since 1964 has gained general
acceptability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(e) Principle of Fiscal Equalization: In order to ensure a minimum level of public goods and
services same degree of fiscal equalization is required. This is as a result of differences in resource
endowment.
(f) The Efficiency Principle: This principle implies that efficiency must be applied in the allocation
of resources
(g) The Principle of Derivation: The component units of a system should be able to control some of
its own resources as they desire.
(h) The Principle of Locational Neutrality: Interregional fiscal differences tend to influence location
choices of individuals and firms. Therefore, policy should focus on minimizing distortions due to
some interference. Hence, differential taxes which create locational distortions should be avoided
as much as practicable.
(i) The Principle of Centralized Redistribution: This principle states that the redistribution function
of fiscal policy through progressive taxation and expenditure programmes should be centralized at
the federal level. That is, if the redistributive function is decentralized, it can result in distortions in
location decisions. It should be noted that the above principles are not mutually consistent.

Donald Cried Analysis
Donald Cried is an indie American dramedy and sympathetic buddy film with much to say about
friendship, self conceitedness, and complacency. It marks the directorial debut of Kris Avedisian,
which couldn t be more auspicious in terms of building pragmatic, tense scenarios while shaping
the characters with pinpoint accuracy. He also stars as Donald and wrote the script based on his
own 2012 short film of the same name. The camera lens fixates on Peter Lateng (Jesse Wakeman),
a successful Manhattan banker forced to return to his small hometown, where he intends to spend
just one night or two to take care of things related to his grandmother, who just passed away. Peter
is visibly exasperated for having to go back to a place that brings him

The Problem Of The Unhappy Valley
Unhappy Valley Everyday humans are faced with dilemmas where they must decide on what
considered right, and what is considered wrong. Whether they are fifty or five, all humans face
situations like that. There are times when humans make the wrong decision thinking it s right, or
make the right decision, but it s wrong. When it comes to making decisions, older generations are
held to a higher standard than younger generations. That is because they are expected to be
responsible and have had to experience difficult life situations, younger generations are known and
expected to make the wrong decisions constantly. But in some cases, adults will make that wrong...

The film spotlights the wrong decisions, and the justifications that come with them. Bar Lev targets
the emotional and logical appeals of his audience while teaching them indirectly on what happened.
The rhetoric that is used in Happy Valley appeals the audience s emotional and logical appeals.
Throughout the film, Bar Lev introduces important key factors, like Sandusky s adopted son and
victim, Matt, Joe Paterno s wife, two of his son s, students of Penn State University in 2011, as
well as researchers and historians involved with Penn State. Bar Lev has them open up about
their thoughts and feelings on the scandal to focus on how it affected them. Ideally he is
affecting the audience s emotions, allowing them to feel as if they are a part of the story too.
Likewise, he focuses on the events leading up to the scandal, the scandal, and the aftermath of the
scandal. Bar Lev likes to produce stories on the difficult and uncomfortable topics that are hard to
talk about. He states in a recent interview, I look for the stories that tweek society s nerves (Bar
Lev). Happy Valley, being one of Bar Lev s numerous documentaries, does not create an obvious
opinion that he holds, instead leaving it up to the audience and their opinions. They are constantly
changing their opinions especially on the late Penn State head football coach, Joe Paterno. Paterno
knew about Sandusky s sexual abuse toward the young

High Stakes Testing And The Education System
High Stakes Testing has been overly integrated in the education systems. High stakes testing are
used to determine grade retention, school curriculum, and whether or not students will receive a
high school diploma (Myers, 2015). Since the No Child Left Behind Act (NCLB) of 2001, high
stakes testing has become the norm and mandating that students must pass a standardized testbefore
moving up in grade. As a special educationdirector, the focus is to ensure the student s
accommodations are being followed. Accommodations help increase students academic
performance. Both the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEA) of 2004
and No Child Left Behind (NCLB) call for students with disabilities to participate in the general
education curriculum and in testing programs to the maximum extent possible for each student
(Luke and Schwartz, 2010). Throughout the years, high stakes testing is becoming more common
than ever before. The reality is high stakes testing is one indicator in evaluating children with
specific needs. This paper will discuss, the violation of the statutory language regarding assessment
based on IDEA, the strategies and goals of a remediation, staff training, common Core and PARCC
assessment, and funding for the remediation plan under IDEA. With high stakes testing, it requires,
states to use accommodation and alternative testing in order to allow states not to exclude students
with special needs from taking any of the state s test. Before

  • 2. Benefits and Pitfalls of Short-selling Shares Benefits and pitfall of short selling Short selling is the borrowing of shares in companies whose market value is believed to go down. The sellers gain profit when they buy back the shares at a lower price (Investopedia, n.d.). The benefits of short selling include facilitating market efficience, driving down overprice shares, increasing liquidity of stock markets and exposing financial fraud. The CFA Institute believes that short selling enables participants to quickly and accurately adjust securities prices to reflect investor opinions about valuations (Smith, 2012), hence improving marketing efficiency. It also shortens the time taken to discover corporate misconduct and predict firms who will be involved in financial misconduct (Foster, 2009). However, short selling has its limitation as well. Firstly, it has detrimental effect which weakens investors confidence in financial markets. It gives rise to short term market volatility and cause severe damage to investors confidence when share prices decline. Secondly, there is an unlimited risk involved as there is no limit to the amount of money the short seller can lose, the price of the share can increase forever (IG, n.d.). Lastly, the companies involved would need to preserve their reputation and pay for the negative publicity with higher funding costs (Smith, 2012). Issues of unethical conflict of interest faced by Negative Research Firms ( NRFs ) The Negative Research Firms (NRFs) are firms that provide free ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 5. Identify The Different Types Of Retainers We all know that one day those braces will come off. At that time your orthodontist creates your new retainer. We all know the retainer is an important part of the teeth straightening process. If you do not wear the retainer prescribed by your orthodontist, your teeth will go back to their earlier placement. Your teethwill line up exactly as they looked before you got braces. Your teeth are held in place by periodontal ligaments. It takes a long time for the periodontal ligaments to adjust when the teeth are straightened. Therefore, orthodontists created retainers to keep your teeth straight, in perfect alignment. Basically, your orthodontist has a choice of three different types of retainers As a patients this is not something you get to choose; the orthodontist chooses the best retainer for each patient. • 6. The General, The Slave Who Became A Gladiator The first movie that pops up to someone s mind when we say Drama is Gladiator released in the year 2000 which is considered historical drama. Ridley Scott works on an inspiring, mesmerizing and action packed flick to trigger the human feelings of strength, honor, courage, betrayal, ruthlessness and survival. The character that Russell Crowe plays as the gladiatorsends the audience back home motivated to fight for what they believe in following what he mentioned in the movie what we do in life, echoes in eternity . The supporting character in the movie, in specific is the slave that accompanies the gladiator the whole time reflects the slogan of the movie The General who became a Slave, the Slave who became a Gladiator . The Cinematic Style that Ridley Scott develops in the film is dynamic, bravely reflected and acted genuinely. Yet while discussing the plot we can consider it thrilling but flat. Just when the plot is heating up the steam is gone. Plus the movement of the sword fights looks like they are on fast forward. Scott chose New York and Washington as a geographical area to film. The heroic architecture setting reflect the geographical area that is portrayed The heroic mode is triumphant and absolute; it reflects realism in both plot and performance Day, G ... In my opinion, this is the core of the movie where Scott just tosses it away and the tension drain out onto the floor, where there is still one hour for the movie to end. The movie is condensing of plot fragments from the two Roman films from Hollywood Ben Hur (1959) and Spartacus (1960). If we want to speak of it simply, it is about a betrayed lord seeking revenge, and a gladiator revolt. The major problem is that Maximus can t be both a gladiator and a player in imperial politics because this splits the focus. The plot is interesting yet uncomplicated at the same ... • 7. Lyndon B. Johnson And The Great Society Essay Lyndon B. Johnson and The Great Society Lyndon Baines Johnson introduced the Great Society, a strategic plan of action to propose environmental cleanup, decreasing poverty, and helping to further fund education during his state of the union address in 1965 in a poetic manner. He spoke of it as a destination that the American people would work toward. Johnson s address gave many Americans hope and faith in a better world after feeling so much pain following the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Americans were anxious to move forward as a nation in support of the changed Johnson proposed. The Great Society was a proposed plan of actions intended to benefit the American people. Johnson developed the Great Society in a utopian fashion that proposed programs concerning the cities, the environment and education which in return brought modern liberalism into turmoil and broadened the administrative state. Taking office after the assassination of John F. Kennedy put tremendous pressure on Johnson. Not only did he have his own ideas, he also needed to fulfill the legacy left by Kennedy. In order to do both, he created the Great Society. Johnson wished to create the glue that kept the American people together and according to Paul C. Aiken and John M. Redding (1965) he fulfilled his famous words of, Let us continue... while addressing the country after that fatal day in Dallas and passing several acts to better the country. Whether we are athletes playing the sport, avid fans watching our teams and their statistics, or the coaches, it is our character to always be in tuned to what is going on in the competitive sports world. To elaborate, being competitive shows determination, hard work, and is a form of utilizing our gifted talents, resulting in positive outcomes; this is referring to anything in life, not just athletics. On the other hand, being competitive to the point that we are losing teammates, friends, and those close to us shows poor sportsmanship and can have a negative effect on character. Physical violenceis just one among the many different types of violence in today s athletic world. Some of the more common non physical abuses among both male and female athletes are substance abuse, eating disorders, and verbal abuse/emotional stress. Although these are not physical, they have the potential to eventually lead to physical violence and injuries. We all have heard numerous theories of steroid and substance abuse. It can cause not only physical changes to the body, but can also cause emotional and psychological alterations, including aggressive behavior that is not easily controlled. Inside The Federalist Papers, by Alexander Hamilton, James Madison, and John Jay, are a great way to locate the old governmental policies that are still the same today in America. In Federalist No. 1, Alexander Hamiltonwrites of the importance and success of the Constitution as the government. He is very biased throughout the entire essay, but is at least aware of his bias. • 13. The Causes Of HIV And AIDS AIDS is one of the world s most deadly diseases. AIDS (acquired immunodeficiency syndrome) is caused by the progression of the HIV virus. HIV stands for human immunodeficiency virus. Unlike some other viruses, the human body can t get rid of HIV completely. According to AIDS.gov, once you have HIV, you have it for life. HIVattacks the body s immune system, specifically the CD4 cells (T cells), which help the immune system fight off infections. If left untreated, HIV reduces the number of CD4 cells (T cells) in the body, making the person more likely to get infections or infection related cancers. Over time, HIV can destroy so many of these cells that the body cannot fight off infections and disease. The diseases include a number of severe infections, cancers and devastating illnesses, resulting in severe weight loss or wasting away, and diseases affecting the brain and central nervous system. These infections or cancers take advantage of a very weak immune system and signal that the person has AIDS, the last state of HIV infection. This is the affect of AIDS on the body. (AIDS.gov) According to the Mayo Clinic website, the symptoms of HIV and AIDS differ depending on the person and the stage of the disease. They typical stages are the early stage, the clinical latency stage, or AIDS (the late stage of HIV infection). Discussed below are the symptoms and effects on the body that may be experienced at the different stages. During the early stage of HIV, some people may experience a flu like illness within 2 4 weeks after HIV infection. The flu like symptoms can include fever, chills, rash, night sweats, muscle aches, sore throat, fatigue, swollen lymph nodes and mouth ulcers. These symptoms can last from a few days to several weeks. After the early stage of HIV infection, the disease moves into a stage called the clinical latency stage ( chronic HIV infection ). During this stage, HIV is still active but reproduces at very low levels. People with chronic HIV infection may not have any HIV related symptoms, or only mild ones. Eventually the virus weakens the body s immune system and it progresses to AIDS, which is the late stage of HIV infection. These symptoms can include rapid weight loss; ... The Pros And Cons Of Bronx Family Law Bronx family court lawyers Family law includes all statutes and case precedents that cover paternity, child custody, child and spousal support, marriage and divorce, and violence as well as other issues that may arise in a family setting. It also covers grandparents rights. Basically, these cases involve different parties who share a marriageor blood as well as those in casual arrangements. So, there could be several contracts that you and your spouse may enter in the course of your marriage. You may enter into a premarital agreement before tying the knot, a postnuptial agreement while married, and a separation agreement to end your relationship. And, if the marriage is invalid, then annulment might be the better option. Starting in the 8th gradeI began to attend a co op funded by the Tahoma school district, (Russell Ridge Center). Once I began making connections with both peers and teachers, I began to realize how much I had missed out on both social and educational standards that were met by a typical 8th grader. With the help of free tutoring from a select few teachers I confronted about wanting to gain academic knowledge, I slowly caught up to the standard educational goals, then pushed myself to succeed further. Hobsbawm s Theory on the General Crisis of the 17th Century Hobsbawm s Theory on the General Crisis of the 17th century It is generally accepted by historians that there was a В‘crisis that blanketed all of Europe during the 17th century. A myriad of revolts, uprisings and economic contractions occurred almost simultaneously and had a profound impact on the socio economics of the entire continent. The topic for discussion in this paper is the effects that this В‘crisis had on Europe and its developments. However even if it is a given that there was an inadequate concentration of capital in prior to the 17th century to establish capitalism, Hobsbawm still fails to demonstrate how the crisis affected to use of capital, a topic which will be discussed later in this paper. Hobsbawm argues that there was no division of labor under feudal society to enable mass production leading to capitalistic profits. However Lublinskaya shows that there was a concentration of disperse manufactures in Germany, Spain and especially France who had already established large scale manufacturing using division of labor since the early 16th century. So it can hardly be said that this necessary criteria for capitalism was missing in, or originated by the 17th century . Hobsbawm also makes the claim that the continue exploitation of the peasantry under feudalism reduced their capacity as a cash consumers . This hindered demand for mass produced goods and thus providing companies with little incentive to become active in more revolutionary capital enterprises. However Lublinskaya points out that the continual exploitation of the peasantry eventually forces them to resort to the sale of their labor power making them a cash consumer. This feudal system of exploitation did not ultimately reduced demand but stimulated it . Another critic of Hobsbawm s theory was historian, H.R. Trevor Roper. Of how a role in a pantheon and just a few myths can shatter you re understanding of why a goddess has power. Last of all, how the nature of what symbolizes a godhow we perceive her. In discussing the two goddesses I find that is important to look back their conception and how they were brought into being comes to affect our understanding from a theological standpoint. • 23. Abandonment In Siddhartha In the beginning of the novel, Hesse artfully defines Siddhartha as the most intelligent, dashing young man of his village. The untouchable Siddhartha, however, is unsatisfied with his life. Instead, he is possessed by an unquenchable thirst for enlightenment. He rejects his father s dreams, he rejects his teachers, and he even rejects the honorable teachings of Buddha because he honestly believes that they cannot help him in his journey to enlightenment. On the other hand, why would Hesse demonstrate Siddhartha s consistent behavioral pattern of abandonment? Understandably, when a student learns all that he or she can from a tutor or a mentor, they would want to move on, learning advanced subjects or skills. It s a natural path. One cannot continue to learn addition for the rest of their lives. So, it s shocking that when Siddhartha finally meets the best teacher in all of Asia, Buddha, he bluntly disagrees with his wisdom. The child begins to associate with the same sex orientation and is able to distinguish appropriate behaviors in society, creating the superego. The genital phase begins from the ages of eleven to eighteen, which comprises of increased pleasure from masturbation and is experienced more frequently than the anal stage. Freud rationalized that all individuals are homosexual creatures; however, individuals do not experience homosexual behaviors or relationships. As the foundation of scientific knowledge approached the start of the twentieth century, problems began to arise over the fact that classic physical ideas were not capable of explaining the observed behavior of subatomic particles. In 1913, the Danish physicist Neils Bohr, proposed a successful quantum model of the atom that began the process of a more defined understanding of its subatomic particles. It was accepted in the early part of the twentieth century that light traveled as both waves and particles. The reason light appears to act as a wave and particle is because we are noticing the ... We have the illusion that position and momentum can co exist in large objects whose inherent action is huge compared to subatomic particles. Heisenberg realized that the uncertainty relations had profound implications. Heisenberg set himself to the task of finding the new quantum mechanics to explain what his theories observed. He relied on what can be observed, namely the light emitted and absorbed by the atoms. By July 1925, Heisenberg wrote his answer in a paper. The basic idea of Heisenberg s paper was to get rid of the orbits in atoms and to arrive at new mechanical equations. Heisenberg s approached focused mainly on the particle nature of electrons. The mathematics Heisenberg used were tables commonly used for multiplication of arrays of numbers mathematical objects known as matrices. Using the mathematics of matrices, scientists had at last a new mechanics for calculating the quantum behavior of particles. Heisenberg, and others showed that the new quantum mechanics could account for many of the properties of atoms and atomic events. Most physicists were slow to accept matrix mechanics because of its abstract nature. Erwin Schrodinger came up with a mathematical equation which nicely described the wave nature of electrons. It was predicted that there would be an increase in the percentage of correct intensity discriminations as the number of trials increased because a roving standard was used which allowed for context coding. Participants were given an intensity discrimination task where two tones of different intensities were presented. Participants were asked to indicate which was louder. Results showed that there was no improvement among any of the 6 trials, thus concluding that context coding did not take place within 6 trials. Introduction Ones discriminatory ability in audition is considered to be the ability to detect a change in a given auditory stimulus whenever one of its dimensions is increased or decreased. One topic in keen interest of research is the role of memory in discriminating sound attributes. A dimension often studied is frequency. To investigate the ability to discriminate frequency, two tones are presented to a listener with an inter stimulus interval. The listener then indicates which tone is higher in pitch. Changes in interval length is used to investigate the role of memory when discriminating sounds attributes. It is no exaggeration to say that there was no case against Beilis. Additionally, when the factory was investigated, Vasily Fenenko, the investigating magistrate, reported that nothing suspicious was found (Levin 52). Although Russian experts eventually came forward to assert that Andrei s body had been drained of blood, the first autopsy report, as previously mentioned, made no mention of excessive blood loss. Through his wife s conversations, it is made apparent that Seymour has developed mental issues since returning home and these issues are shown through Seymour s longing for isolation throughout the story. The unusual part of this fictional tale is the fact that many aspects of Seymour s life reflect the authors. A Perfect Day for Bananafish does not just inform the audience of the severity of an unknown mental illness, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder or PTSD, but it almost acts as Salinger s way to express his true emotion about life. PTSD is a mental illness that affects many men and women leaving war. It usually occurs in someone who has experienced a shocking, scary or dangerous event; i.e. war. Most of the time PTSD is a recurring illness that involves having bad dreams, flashbacks, and cognitive and mood symptoms. People who suffer from PTSD typically have negative thoughts about the world around them and have a loss of interest in the enjoyable activities. Currently there are many treatments for PTSD like medications and psychotherapy. Treatment for PTSD differs depending on the person and the severity of their illness (NIMH). ... Wier used the movement of actors, dialogue, props and symbolism to show how Truman progressed from being a typical all American guy to a courageous man who s willing to face his fears to break free from the chains that binds him to his creator. Truman Burbank is a star of his own show The Truman Show and everybody knows except him. He lives in the best place in the world, Seahaven, where the people are always friendly and well dressed. The ending of the film had left the minds of the audience in a state of confusion and mixed emotions. Cristof urges Truman to stay, telling him: Truman, there s no more truth out there than in the world I created for you the same lies and deceit. But in my world you have nothing to fear. The audience are torn between supporting Truman in his long awaited new life or wishing him to stay in Seahaven were they can watch him and be part of his life. Truman s answer had also likened him to being the second Adam to being Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself and is ressurected to a new life as Truman sacrificed his seemingly perfect world where his life is controlled for the sick place where he has freedom. Symbolism was used to show the audience how courageous and heroic Truman is. In conclusion, Weir used dialogue, movement of actors, props and symbolism to develop the character, truman Burbank. They were all different, because they were all different theories of how biomolecules came to be. As technology continues to evolve along with the world many new ideas of how biomolecules came to be are sure to come up. This helps increase out knowledge of the world and how it came to be. The first of the biomolecule hypotheses was the Primordial Soup Hypothesis. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1977, scientists found biological life forms surviving around the sea floor. This suggested the possibility that the vents provided biological life with the things they needed in order to survive. They that suggested methanethiol (sulfur containing carbon compound) was the starter dough from which all life emerged. The first people to test this hypothesis was geochemists, Eoghan Reeves, Jeff Seewald, and Jill McDermott. They went to the hydrothermal vent sites, there they predicted that they would find abundant methanethiol, their results had surprised them. Reeves said that their claim from before was false, What we essentially found in our survey is that we don t think methanethiol is forming by purely chemical means without the involvement of life. However, the scientists still believe that hydrothermal vents are a great environment for new life to emerge. The fourth of the biomolecule hypotheses was the RNA World Hypothesis. The RNA World Hypothesis was proposed by Francis Crick in 1967. The hypothesis was that life begins with self replicating RNA molecules. According to Crick s hypothesis genetic information is stored by RNA and the RNA catalyzed the chemical reactions in primitive cells. However, later in time DNAtook over as genetic material and proteins became the structural components of cells. Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop CafГ© was written by Fannie Flagg, a well known American author. This novel takes place in the Deep South and switches back and forth between the 1980s and the early 20th century, when discrimination was rampant. Discrimination has two main definitions.
