Cultural Depictions Of Spiders In Popular Culture
Throughout history, there have been many cultural depictions of spiders in popular culture,
mythology and in symbolic representation. In some instances, the spider symbolized patience and
persistence due to its hunting technique of setting webs and waiting for its prey to become
ensnared. It is also a symbol of mischief and malice for its toxic venom and the slow death it
causes, which is often seen as a curse. According to another set of literary archetypes, spideralso
symbolizes diligence, prudence, caution, astuteness, but also deceit and cunning associated with
creativity. In still other narratives, spiders tend to appear as emblems of cruelty, aggression, greed
and exploitation. In some cultures they are used as sinister figurations

Lou Gehrig s Speech
Before 1939 most people knew Lou Gehrig as a 1st baseman for the New York Yankees
(Biography). He was an outstanding baseball player who fought through a lot of adversity during
his years playing in the MLB. His dedication and loyalty to the game is what made so many
people admire him. After finding out about his crippling disease, he gave a speech that is still
talked about to this day. In this heartfelt speech, Lou Gehrigexpressed his feelings about his recent
diagnosis that forced him to retire in order to show how thankful he was even with this tragedy.
Living in the shadow of Babe Ruthfor most of his career, Lou Gehrig had to go above and beyond
in order to prove himself to the baseball world. He even wore the number four because it was
right after Ruth s , showing that he was always behind him. Lou did not have the best life
growing up but that never stopped his will to succeed. His batting skills sparked an interest from
the Yankees who ended up signing Gehrig s first professional contract. At this time not many
people would have guessed that Lou Gehrig would play on this team for his whole career, let alone
set the record for the most consecutive games played in the MLB. Although... Show more content

claim is backed up when he states that he knows this because he played baseball in the MLB for

people s attention not only because he is going to die but the speech was given in first person
with words that help enhance the feelings he is trying to express. Ethically, Gehrig used his
knowledge of the audience and made himself sound like he is one of them. He is trying to prove
that he is just a normal guy who has to deal with hardship just like everyone else

According to LawyerShop (2012) bribery is defined as a while collar crime in which money is
given in order to receive preferential treat and/or to sway decisions, views, and opinions in favor
an organization. Chang, C., Chang, A., Freese (2001) defines bribe as: Any valuable thing given
or promised, or any preferment, advantage, privilege or, emolument, given or promised corruptly
and against public capacity to violate or forbear from his duty, or to improperly influence his
behavior in performance of his duty. (p. 128). The business practice of bribery is not a new or
unique concept to South Koreans. Chang, C., Chang, A., Freese (2001) identifies situations in
which businesses are forced to pay government officials and person in influential positions in order
to obtain business permits and licenses, inspection certificates, certifications for operating and
occupancy. Bribery is one of the most common practiced patterns of conducting business in South
Korea and it is vital to Korean business. It is crucial for outside businesses entering into the Korea
marketplace to learn how to deal with bribery if they want to successfully enter and remain in the
Korean marketplace (Chang, C., Chang, A., Freese, 2001). Compare South Korea and United States

important for employees and managers have an established plan to deal with critical matters. They
must study the behavior of their employees to decide how they will achieve their desired goals.

organizational behavior into 3 separate categories. The first one is the individuals within the
organization. The second is the work group which is made by pacing workers into specific groups.

Averroes Contradictions During The Crusades
The Arab armies captured Jerusalem in 638 and built mosques to declare their dominance, and they
even allowed the Christians to continue their religious practices. They even allowed the Jews to
return to Jerusalem officially for the first time since they were exiled by the Romans in 135. The
Crusades were organized by Western Christians in response to the attempts of the Muslims
expansion. In the beginning the crusaders were able to capture Jerusalem in 1099, killing around
3,000 Muslim residents: men, women, children, and many Jews. Muslims and Christians fought
each other for centuries during the Crusades. Christians fought to regain lands taken by the
Muslims and the Holy Land where Jesus had lived and died. Salah al Din (Saladin) organized his
armies and recaptures Jerusalem in 1187. In turn, Richard I of England had captured Acre on the
Mediterranean coast in the Third crusade killing thousands of people, but it was soon recaptured by
Muslim forces along with any other crusader out posts. Approximately two thirds of the Christian
world had been conquered by Muslims around the 11th century.... Show more content on

He sought to combine Aristotle s system of thought with Islam. According to him, religion and
philosophy did not have many contradictions; they just had different ways of reaching the same
truth. Averroes believed that without viewing religion critically and philosophically, the deeper
meanings of tradition could be lost which would lead to an incorrect understanding of the divine.
Averroes states that the truth cannot conflict with the Qur an because Islam is seen as the ultimate
truth and in philosophy you are searching for truth. Some Islamic philosophers, called Mutazilites,
argued that philosophical knowledge gained through study and thought was of higher value than

The Role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night Essay
The Role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night
The main storyline in Twelfth Night is love between Cesario, Orsino, Olivia and later on in the
play Sebastian. Malvolio s part in the play is a backdrop situation separate from the main story. He
brings a level of both humour and sympathy to the play. Malvolio is one of the main sources of
humour in Twelfth Night. In the later part of the play a different side of him is exposed.
Malvolio is Olivia s steward and his job is to manage Olivia s house; he is her chief servant. It s a
very responsible job that he takes very seriously. He enjoys telling people what to do.
During the course of the play Malvolio can be seen in many different lights. At the ... Show more

Twelfth Night is referring to the twelfth night after Christmas, Epiphany. Today, the Twelfth Night
after Christmas means the day we take down the decorations, but back in 1600 when the play
was written it had a different meaning. Epiphany was a time for celebrating and partying. People
used to have parties on Twelfth Night and it was traditional to play practical jokes at this time.
These included tricks such as hiding live birds in an empty pie case, so that they flew away when
the startled guests cut open the crusts. It was a mad time full of pranks and confusion, just as in the
play. This name, Twelfth Night , therefore seems appropriate for this play due to all the confusion
and the banter that goes on in the confusing storyline.
In Twelfth Night we see different types of humour. There is the word play, the vulgar humour of
Sir Toby, stupidity of Sir Andrew, Malvolio s foolishness , and the general confusion caused by
Viola s disguise.
Shakespeare used dirty and witty humour in most of his plays but it is perhaps most obvious in
Twelfth Night. He used different types of humour to please all of the people who flocked to see
his plays. There was always an array of people, and they all needed to be kept interested. There
were the peasants that he could entertain with the dirty jokes and humour. An example of this is

A Analysis On The Executive s Management
The two CEO s we are considering for this paper have two very different approaches, and what
we can only assume is two very different types of organizations. Without knowing the identity of
the CEO for the e mail, we don t get a lot of background on the company they are running like we
do with SAS. It doesn t tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem,
much about the companyperks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it s direct
effect to company production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO s managementstyle just
from this message. First of all, this is an e mail. We don t know the meetings that have been
called to address this issue prior to this, but by sending this in an e mail he is making it very
impersonal. The CEO here isn t showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through
the means he chose. They are also very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the
Associate Center and the Stock Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement.
The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his
company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. A hiring freeze and a reduction in
staff will cause more work all around, whether specific employees are part of the problem, or not.
This will most likely not be good for company morale or retention rate. It does appear that
something does need to be done to

Philip Zimbardo s Temptation Of Evil
Zimbardo raises the question what happens to average, ordinary human beings that make them
turn to the dark side of human nature. Within his book he uses research as well as many
examples to show a showcase of studies and experiments in which an individual(s) are lured to
the dark side due to the situation they are in and other affecting elements. As well as listing
evidence from historical events, Zimbardo also writes about how we can shut down the
temptation to give in to evil. The book may have a name for a difficult read just because many can
t believe the simplicity of evil behavior.
Zimbardo s purpose of this novel is to illuminate the idea of how easy it is to give in to the
temptation of evil. A great number of our societies individuals moral views are based on their
religion which make them very narrow minded to the topic of temptation of evil. Zimbardo tries to
open people s mind to make them see how evil may not be born into an individual but created from
the environment they are in. Philip Zimbardo uses a section of the book to speak about his famous
Stanford Prison Experiment which supported his thesis of evil being created through the individual s

that took place in the incidents that occured and brought up some questions that reference with Unit
3: Developmental Psychology. Overall Zimbardo s book has a great affect on expanding the minds
of readers on their perspective on evil, but if he had included more topics and examples I believe he

The School District of Abington Township, Pennsylvania v. Schempp was a decision that did not
forbid the reading of the Bible in a public school what was illegal was the required readings of
the Bible as a religious exercise. Many religious leaders and other people similar to those have
said that the government have taken God out of schools! but in reality they didn t they just have
forbidden religious exercise that break the First and Fourteenth Amendment. The government
has a neutral ground that they do not intend to be contrary towards religion or to aid in
establishing worldly or secularism in the schools. The government did not prohibit the Bible
reading as an independent or individual act by teachers or students. There is no illegal action
for students to be disallowed to bring a Bible to school and read it silently during their spare
time. Also a teacher should have the same freedom. Prayer and the reading of the Bible are both
very personnel acts of worship. Reading the Bible can be taken in private and public places
because it is a private act which is most significant to a person. The religious intention of the Bible
reading is a form of communication between God and a person on earth. When the Bible reading
becomes an empty ritual, it decreases the influence or effectiveness of the communication. The

Essay about Poetry Analysis Mezzo Cammin
Mezzo Cammin
The poem Mezzo Cammin by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow explains his regretful life and his
reasoning at why he didn t live it to its full potential and how he looks at his past. It then looks to
his future as being near and bearing a huge weight down on him. The way Longfellow talks about
his life is depressing. He doesn t speak of the good accomplishments, only the things he hasn t done
until he looks back into the past and then forward at how the future may be. In the first part of the
poem Longfellow talks about his life being halfway over and everything that stopped him from
really living his life. In the very first couple of lines he says I have let the years slip from me and

He describes it strangely, And hear above me on the autumnal blast The cataract of Death far
thundering from the heights. These lines are very open ended and in one way he could be
speaking of death as far away by the way he describes the thundering waterfall very high up. The
reference to height could mean its at a good distance that he can see it, but its still far away. It
could also mean he has more of his life to live up to and his regretful past doesn t mean much to
him anymore because he has his future to look forward to as he is on his metaphorical hill of
life. In another view, he could be describing death as being right around the corner and him
looking right at it when he describes the waterfall. You could look at it as him having a life
threatening disease and him knowing his death is coming soon, which could also describe the
way he views his past full of regret. If he knew the end is coming soon and he doesn t believe he
fully lived his life to how he wishes, the regret is understandable and the cataract of death makes
sense in this point of view. Overall, this poem shows the past, present, and future of the writer. His
life is full of regret at points and then seems hopeful in others. This poem could be viewed in
many ways but mostly you understand it as a man who wishes he could change his past because
he knows his future is near and his life will soon be coming to an

The Safety Of The Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International...
Abstract
This paper will discuss the many different processes and procedures that play into the overall
safety of the Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport (KATL). There are countless facets
and aspects when it comes to airport operations. The safety aspect is no different. Airports must
keep a positive representation in the media and keeping all areas as safe as possible is paramount.
The overall safety operations of an airport would simply be too much try convey so instead, this
research paper focuses on a large subsection KATL safety known as ramp operations. It follows
along and details different aspects of the Ramp Safety Standards Manual created by the Department
of Aviation for the city of Atlanta. In doing so, the paper provides a clear view of how ramp
operations at KATL relate to system safety.
System Safety of Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport Ramp Operations
Introduction
Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport has been deemed the busiest airport in the world
for the past 17 years straight (Mutzabaugh, 2015). One huge aspect of having such consistent
success over the years has been the airport s ability to maintain a safe and secure working
environment. This is particularly important on the airside of the airport where aircrafts are
continually turning, burning, and finding their place among the many gates of the terminal. More
specifically, the ramp at KATL is a complex stretch of concrete where aircraft, flight

The Warfare During The American Civil War
The conduct of warfare during the American Civil War best exemplified one characteristic of the
Western way of war, which without its incorporation could have drastically changed the outcome of
the war and the existence of the United States as we know it. This characteristic demonstrated is
innovation. Innovation as a characteristic of the Western way of war best exemplifies the American
Civil Warbased on the telegraph, the rifled musketand the railroad. Had the Union and United States
government not leveraged the above mentioned technologies the outcome of the war could have
resulted in the division of this country. From the onset of the Civil War the South possessed two
advantages. One was geography and the other was that it did not have to win the war. The
vastness of the United State presented command and control challenges and logistical challenge
for both Union and Confederal forces. This before mentioned challenge played into the
Confederate forces other advantage which was they could simple keep the Union forces to a draw
during the war and thus ensuring their future as an independent country. For the Union forces to
overcome the challenge of geography and to not result in a draw they used innovations such as the
telegraph to communicate orders to Soldiers over vast distances and thus making geography and
the tyranny of distance a less of an advantage for the Confederate forces. The ability for leadership
to convey timely orders to their military

Overview of Cash Flow Management
Cash Flow Management
Poor cash management is the most frequent stumbling block that causes business failure (Anon.,
2013). Good cash management comes from knowing when, where, and how cash needs will occur.
Knowing the best sources for cash is vital to being prepared to meet needs as they arise. This
requires good relationships with bankers and creditors. Developing and maintaining cash flow
projections helps to understand how cash is generated and used in a business. Without
understanding the cash flow of a business, the business is doomed for failure.
Mr. Morello s projected cash flow for January 2012 to June 2012 shows negative cash flows for
January and May, with January $42,560 and May $1,190 in the negative. The majority of the
January expenses come from the needs of the contract. The May loss can be covered with profits
from February, March, and April, but January becomes a major problem. The projected budget
shows enough in profits to obtain a loan to cover the loss, overdraft, and still have some working
capital for expenses, such as fuel or maintenance for vehicles that is not in the projected budget.
Mr. Morello would need to obtain a loan for at least $50,000. Because accounts receivable can
sometimes be unpredictable, it would be wiser to consider the loan for $60,000 to ensure that the
business needs are met in a timely manner.
In efforts to reduce the interest expense from a loan, community banks and the Small Business
Administration offer lower interest

Globalization and Human Welfare
International free trade has become the foundation of neoliberal globalization. The main
organizations for carrying out free trade are World Trade Organization (WTO) established on 1995,
International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB). The main aim was to promote
development and trade. Trade has become the lens through which development is perceived, rather
than the other way round . The concept of trade evolved right from Adam Smith and David Ricardo
who introduced the concept of comparative advantage which compares the productiveness across
countries. Here countries make use of their natural resources, climate, skills etc. According to Paul
Krugman trade reflects arbitrary or temporary advantages resulting from economies of scale... Show

World trade has grown five times in real terms since 1980, and its share of world GDP has risen
from 36 percent to 55 percent over this period. During the 1990s more Asian countries were
integrated into the trading system. The developing countries have been catching up with or
surpassing high income countries in their trade openness, reflecting the widespread convergence
of low and middle income countries trade systems toward the traditionally more open trading
regimes in place in advanced economies . Globalization measures distinguish between trade and
financial openness and include both de facto and de jure measures. Specifically, trade openness
is measured by the (unweighted) average tariff rate ( de jure measure), and the ratios of both
non oil exports and non oil imports to GDP ( de facto measures). Financial openness is measured
by the Chinn Ito index of capital account openness ( de jure measure), the ratios of various types
of financial liabilities (foreign direct investment, portfolio equity, and debt) to GDP and the stock
of foreign direct investment assets expressed as a percentage of GDP ( de facto measures). The
latter, which is closely associated to offshore, outsourcing, may be particularly relevant to measure
the impact of globalization on inequality in advanced countries, while its value is minimal

informs people about how discrimination is still real in the schools but handled differently. Also the

Well Meize went to a, first generation charter school. Students are silent. Students are sitting up

hard school to be in. When I do a good job on a test I don t cheer verably but you can see on my

to Mieze about his childhood and how the charter school that he went to helped him become a
better person. Surprisingly enough Mieze became a teacher, through his charter connections and
is doing the same thing that his teachers taught him and uses the same rules, zero tolerance, no
excuses. (Is This Working). Through some of the interview Mieze and Chana Joffe wa saw
about 30 kids walking very quietly. They walk down the hallway very quietly for discipline. This
was very shocking because in a public school the hallways and cafeteria are the loudest places to be
on campus. They do this type of discipline so the children will grow as a person and listen to

Fast Food Dangers
Dangers Of Fast Food Fast food is delicious, but is it deadly? Over the years the fast food
industry has made larger proportions to meet the growing demand. The industry thrives off of
competition, and is constantly trying to one up each other. Places like Wendy s, Burger King,
McDonald s, and Taco Bell provide large amounts of food for a bargain. The creation of dollar
menus and five dollar meal deals has influenced more people to dine out. According to University
Hospitals, 44% of Americans eat out at least once a week, every day 34% of children consume fast
food, and children get 12% of their calories from fast food (North Ohio Heart). Fast food is
taking over people s diets. The 2004 Documentary Super Size Me talks about the truth behind the
fast food industry, but mostly McDonald s. Morgan Spurlock, the producer and the man doing the
experiment, decided that he wanted to see what kind of effect that McDonald s could have on the
human body. He decides to go on a thirty day quest, where he only eats McDonald sfor breakfast,
lunch, and dinner. His reason for this experiment was to expose the results eating fast food has
on your body. Fast food is a big contributor to obesity, high cholesterol, heart failure, liver failure,
etc. Spurlock also mentions how advertising is how places like McDonald s persuade people to

Who Killed The Notorious B. Ig Case Study
Who killed the Notorious B.I.G? That is the question that has been asked since Christopher
Wallace aka Biggie Smalls was shot and killed in a drive by shooting on March 9, 1997. Biggie

car pulled up next to him and shot him four times in the chest. In order to try to solve this case
investigators have to collect as much evidence as possible, they would have to take statements
from the witnesses that were at the crime scene such as Sean Combs who was in the car in front
of Biggie, Damien Dash and James Lloyd who was in the car with Biggie, and anyone else who
may have seen this act of murder. Because some of the suspects for this case were

Romulus And Remus In Ancient Rome
Romulus and Remus are characters created by Rome, for their origin story, when they adopted
Greece s gods and goddesses. Romulus and Remus are twins, who their mother, Rhea Silvia,

The Longxing Monastery Of China
The Longxing Monastery is situated in modern Hebei province in the north of China. Previously
named the Longcang Temple in old Chinese, the original building sight was first laid in 586 AD.,
and remains one of the most well preserved large scale ancient Buddhist temples in China.
Throughout its long history, The Longxing Monastery has been a location of pilgrimage for a
number of Chinese Emperors who famously left offerings to the Buddha statues. Today, the temple
houses a number of important historical relics such as the Longcang si stele, which dates to the
monastery s foundation and frescos of the bodhisattva Guanyin, and the later constructed Moni Hall
which acts as the centrepiece in the entirety of the Longxing Monastery, with an emphasis on light
and knowledge. The Moni Hall in particular, represents Manichaeism, an independent gnostic
religion that rose to prominence in the period of the Tang Dynasty618 907 AD. Stemming from the
Chinese MГіnГjiГ o (ж‘©е°јж•™) meaning bright religion, Chinese Manichaeism is a form of

The Moni Hall has associations with both Buddhism and Chinese Manichaesm which was first

Comparison Of Apple s IOS And Android OS
Comparison of Apple s IOS and Android OS Nowadays, smartphones have been an irreplaceable
and indispensable part of people s daily life. What makes the smartphones so smart is the OS, in
other words, the operation system. The OS is the basic and soul of a smartphone, which means
if the phone is the body, then the OS is the neural network and intellectual system to control the
body. Among diverse operation systems, Apple s IOS and Android OS are the most
outstanding, they have occupied about 96 percent of the whole global smartphone market
together. They are both widely used and liked by individuals but they also have own advantages
and disadvantages. The first difference is in Customizability. Accessing and completing control
over the devices is available the bootloader can also be unlocked by Android users while that is
not available for IOS users. Users of IOS are highly limited to customize it unless jailbreak, but
after jailbreak, the Apple Company will be no longer and no need to keep its promise on the
products because jailbreak is banned by the official. The OS of Android is totally different, users
can change almost everything if they want to. This difference comes from the different source
model, which is closed, with open source component in IOS and open in Android. The iOS
kernel is not an open source but is based on the open source Darwin OS while the Kernel, UI, and
some standard apps of Android are all open source. As a result, Android can be more

waiting in line for quite some time, Marc goes into the building to get his vitals checked.

What Is the Relationship Between “Biology” and Kinship...
Q. What is the relationship between biology and kinship systems?
A. Kinship can be defined as society acknowledging biological connections between people. This
view however has been challenged because kinship systems are regarded now as too complex. C.
Levi Strauss (1963) argued; Kinship...only exists in human consciousness. The correct way of
studying the relationship between biology and kinship systems can only be made by looking at
particular societies and cannot be made universally.
Biology may have very little to do with kinship when you look at cultures which play with facts.
However, once you take ethno biology into consideration, everything about kinship can be linked
to biology. W. River s (1965) work on kinship and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By stressing on affinial ties, alliance theory neglects descent. This is highlighted by D. Schneider. In
his work on the Yap Schneider argues that membership is not so much based on biological
relationships but rather on affinity. Membership is established not through birth but through
residence, activities and relationships. (1984) Affiliation is also established by name giving. A
newborn child becomes formally affiliated through the process of being given a name by one of the
senior members. Consequently it cannot itself be a descent group. (1984).
A. Kuper (1999) points out that if Stauss theory was correct then why are all societies not
structuring their kinship around alliances such as African tribal societies.
One possible reason could be because of cultural relativism. According to R. Redfield (1953)
cultural relativism means; the values of that culture are to be understood only by the way the
people of that culture see things. Schneider uses cultural relativism to analysis the meaning of
kinship and the taken for granted assumptions like the construction of relatives.
Although cultural relativism allows each society to recognise different relationships with kinship
systems it fails to provide any scientific use of data for studying kinship systems. For example;
how do you construct a universal analysis of kinship once you have gathered information from each
culture if

The Crime Of The Criminal Justice System
The criminal justice system in England and Wales is made up of multiple agencies which all have
different responsibilities, however they share the main objective of maintaining and enforcing the
rule of law. The International Bar Association (2005) describes the Rule of Law as the foundation
of a civilized society with a society s formal response to crimebeing the responsibility of the
criminal justicesystem more specifically in terms of a series of decisions and actions being taken by
a number of agencies (Criminal Justice). Law enforcement, courts, the penal system, and crime
prevention are the four key agencies that make up the criminal justice system.

Through such mediums as the media, political debates and official statements the public is made
aware and so is able to form opinions and ideas about the way the criminal justice system, and the
agencies involved, function and its effectiveness. When looking at other countries clear differences
can be seen in the structures and practices in place; such things as the contents of the law, the
various sentences enforced by the courts, and countries citizens perspectives of crime and
punishment.
In England and Wales adversarial justice is the main principle used in the criminal justice
system. The adversarial system is not designed to establish the truth about an incident, that
responsibility is placed onto law enforcement agencies and prosecutors. Once having identified a
suspect it is their responsibility to gather enough evidence to convince a court of their guilt
beyond reasonable doubt. An already stated above, the purpose of an adversarial system of
justice is not to get to the truth, the first barrier to a conviction is the lack of evidence. Once law
enforcement has a suspect and has collected all the evidence possible the case is put to the CPS
who will then have to decide whether it is likely a trial shall result in prosecution, and also whether
it is in the public interest to proceed. Once a decision has been

Karolina Juzczykowska s Contributions
Over 6,000,000 died and only 900,000 survived. The Holocaust is one of the darkest moments in
world history. Hitler was a German dictator who wanted to create a supreme race; blue eyes and
blonde hair were some of the requirements. Because the majority of Jews did not fit that
description, they were targeted. Thousands of them were sent to concentration camps to die, while
others were arrested and killed. In an attempt to save as many lives as possible, many people hid
Jewish refugees during the Holocaust. Three individuals who did this are Irena Sendler, Karolina

Pros And Cons Of Flat Tax
Is flat tax beneficial for the society?
Flat tax may bring about a transformation to the society.
Pros:
It is fairly simple easy to understand and comply with, thereby reducing errors and tax fraud It
promotes sustainable development
Key advocates of the flat tax rate believe that people can be encouraged to work harder to earn
one`s fortune because they won t be afraid of a larger tax penalty for a bigger income. In addition,
more businesses will be more willing to invest. This may bolster progress in more stable economic
growth and higher overall tax revenue.
Cons:
It favors the wealthy.
Those who are earning bigger income can enjoy paying less tax, so they end up with more money,
further widening the gap between the rich and the poor.

Minimum wages may raise the challenge of inequality. Why it is so?
The minimum wage is not related to job cuts.
I will provide a case in point.
According to the study of fast food restaurants by David Card and Alan Krueger in 1992 after
increasing the minimum wage, employment in restaurants also increased. Thus raising the
minimum wage did not reduce employment.
The minimum wage leads to an increase in the standard of living. According to the International
Labor Organization, the existence of the minimum wage in the country provide an incentive for
getting a job, rather than live on unemployment benefits. If the state introduces a minimum wage,
then there is a narrowing of the gap between the rich and the poor.
Minimum wages do not raise the challenge of inequality. Why it is so?
The minimum wage leads to unemployment.

Clinical Trial Essay
Clinical trials are often designed to test new biomedical or behavioral interventions such as new
treatments/drugs, prevention strategies, screening programs, diagnostic tests, and educational
models. The rapid increase in the costs of conducting clinical trials has made the efficient design
of clinical trials more important in recent years. For example, a new report published by Tufts
Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) expresses that the costs of new drug
development which is one of the wide applications of clinical trials have been pegged at $2.558
billion, with a 145% increase over an estimate made in 2003 [9].
2.Clinical trial classification
Clinical trials are divided into two main classes based on how participants are allocated to different
interventions: randomized and non randomized controlled trials [21]. Non randomized trials (also
called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by
methods that are not random. These trials are used when randomization is impractical and/or
unethical. They are typically easier to set up than randomized trials which need random assignment
of subjects. Lack of random assignment in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

whether subjects receive interventions A only, B only, both A and B, or neither A or B. Thus, the

may exist between two interventions (or treatments). For this reason, this trial design can be
viewed as an efficient way to conduct two trials in one. However, it is not recommended when

An Project On The Development Of It System Applications Or...
For any company involved in the development of IT system applications or any other software,
having a team of people who knows what they are doing, will determine if the application will be
useful or a total failure. Since money cannot be wasted and it is sometimes shorted by the client,
having the experience and the right leaders to keep this project organized and on schedule, will help
the development teammembers finish this project on time and on budget. However, in order to stay
on track of the requirements set by the client, communicating with the client on a regular basis
either by phone or by virtual meetings, the results of the project will most likely be a success.
To me, the purpose of these meetings are to keep the client involved in the project as much as
possible so that all the discussed requirements are well understood and if any changes are made by
the client, then new changes can be made right there on the spot avoiding future delays. I think that
the main goal here is to keep the client satisfied with the results as much as possible. When I say
results I mean, making sure that what the client wants and do not want on the system application is
included to the last detail.
During the life cycle of the project, there are going to be many decisions to be made, and keeping
in touch with the client as much as possible, the decisions might change the results of the project in
terms of delays or higher costs. For example, the development team might set an

The second concept which is according to me is in the chapter Governance of information Systems
Organization. The main description about the IT governance process is that the decision making
rights in the company are being divided among the stakeholders who are in the enterprise and this
will also help to make and monitor the strategic and crucial decisions of the IT (Ryan, 2004). This
chapter also mentioned about the three models of governance which are centralized, decentralized
and federal. With the advancement of the information technology, the need of Information security
and governance has increased a lot. Every organization stores data which is an important asset to
them. This misuse of technology had led hackers to get into the company s system and steal or
provide harm to their data. So, in order to safe guard its data, a company has to follow a security
framework or practices. This is possible with the implementation of Information security

Indonesia s An International Market Essay
1Indonesia contribution to international market
Goods and services produced in a country and being sold outside is globally known as export
(Mankiw, 2004:240). Suppose that a country do an International Trade and become an exporter of
some goods, domestic producers will get more benefits, while local consumers will get loss
because the local price is higher. However, government policy about the opening of international
trade itself will be profitable for both concerned countries (Mankiw, 2006:221).For Indonesia, the
activities of the export has been encouraged since 1983. In the same year, export was getting more
attention in order to spur Indonesia economy growth. Indonesia slowly changes its strategy of
industrialization, from the emphasis on import substitution industries to export promotion
industries. Along with this new policy, the economy of Indonesia is getting better. It was proven

Summary Of Andre Caplet s Myrrha
CAPLET
Andre Caplet was a man of many talents. He was a great French conductor, composer, pianist,
and editor for many musician s works including Claude Debussy. On his first attempt, in 1901,
Caplet won the Prix de Rome for his piece Myrrha. This prestigious competition enabled the
winner to stay in Rome for 3 5 years to study music; It often took many great composers several
years to obtain. Caplet mainly made his career as a conductor though. He brought a very precise
element to the French music scene that had not yet been explored. He was recruited in 1910 to
be the conductor for the Boston Opera Company after which only two years he was promoted to
artistic director. After another two years, he would volunteer for the French army where he would
be injured and end his conducting career. Caplet died at the early age of 47 in 1925 from pleurisy.
Deux Divertissements was written in 1924, only one year before Caplet s death. The word
divertissements in a French context means to interject a short dance and or song in the middle of
an opera or ballet. The piece, containing many downward moving melodic lines, represents in a
historical context perhaps the way in which Caplet felt about his life after his injury in the war.
This piece contains a repeated sequence (phrase that modulates keys throughout) that drives the
melody forward with its pull in one direction (either an upward or downward movement) This
music is representative of Caplet s patriotism for his country in

Greek Influence On Native American Culture
The Mississippian Culture civilization was quite unique, because the people of this culture built
mounds. These mounds served different purposes, some being used for burial chambers, and others
were built to resemble figures. In these societies, there were many mounds, not just a single one.
Furthermore, these cultures were also invested in trade endeavors, with the Hopewell even
engaging with the Caribbean in trade. Additionally, these societies were involved in fishing,
hunting and agriculture, especially maize agriculture. Also, these societies were skilled in
workmanship, producing artifacts. Some of the skilled workmanship that these groups did were
pottery, stonework and copper work. Also, in these societies, there were social structures, and some
mounds were used in religious activities, with some serving as the site for temples. Their religion
was based upon things that were seen, such as the sun and the eagle, like many other Native
American societies.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also, for the mounds in these cities, wood and dirt was used. Unfortunately, the wood from the
surrounding area was sometimes overused, which led to the eventual flooding of Cahokia. They
built the mounds for many different reasons, as they served many different purposes, from
functioning as burial grounds to the bases of temples and palaces. Other Native American cultures
were not mound builders, which is a very big difference. Also, the Cahokia people (as mentioned
on the video) did not live in tepees, as typically thought that Native Americans did. The people of
Moundville lived in small houses composed of pole and thatch (according to the Moundville

The Digital Revolution Is Responsible For The Largest...
Introduction
The digital revolution has been instrumental in reshaping entire sectors, categories and industries
one of the most heavily affected is the retail sector. In the changing digital landscape, new
opportunities to innovate through the embracing of e tailing have meant that retail stores are no
longer geographically limited, but the rise of e tailing provides it s own set of unique challenges to
bricks and mortar retailing. This literature review will succinctly analyze and evaluate the effect
that e tailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, by looking at the ways in which the
bricks and mortar retail stores have had to develop their retailing strategy in an increasingly digital
world. Across the extant literature three themes were consistently detected around the effects online
retailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, in the forms of the responses of
physical retailers to this digital shift in the sector; fight it, use it or embrace it by fully integrating it
into an ongoing strategy. Each of these themes is discussed below.
Context
The digital revolution is responsible for the largest societal shift in history the rapid rate of
consumer uptake in the use of internet as a new technology beats the adoption of other
technological developments significantly. While it took decades for the widespread societal
adoption of television and radio, the internet was adopted far quicker from 16 million users in
1995, through to over 3

Christianity And Christianity Of Christianity
Being some of the biggest religions in the world today, Christianity and Catholicism are considered
to be symbols of stability, comfort, and security because of its strong faith. This, however, has not
always been true. Over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, Christianity and Catholicism
have gone through tremendous changes through different major events in history. Ranging from the
Council of Nicaea the early church community prior to 1054 to the Spanish Colonization of the
New World prior to 1900 to the Second Vatican Council after 1900 all of these events created
waves of change in these religions and helped form them into what they are today. At the dawn of
Christianity, many differing beliefs existed. Small factions, without leadership, practiced their own
interpretations of their faith. Due to its nature as a persecuted religion, it was difficult for the early
church to establish a semblance of leadership. After Constantine s legalization and implementation
of Christianity in 313 A.D., it became clear that Catholics needed to consolidate their beliefs. This
wasn t accomplished until 325 A.D. when the Council of Nicaea was convened. There were many
motivations for holding the council, including: the deliberation on the nature of God and Jesus
Christ and what it meant to be Christian among others. The Council of Nicaea was a very important
meeting where 300 bishops from across the Roman Empiremet to discuss different administrative

Tragic Events Of World War II
World War II
World War II, such a tragic event. It left many people homeless and dead. Many people wonder
what happened, before the war, during the war, life after the war, and lastly, current foreign
affairs? On one side of the world was the Great Depression and on the other side the rise of Hitler
was beginning.
Lives for the Jewish people began changing soon after World War I ended. Hitler was rising to
power. Hitler rose to power because he blamed the Jews for the loss in World War I and used them
as a scapegoat until he became the Fuhrer of Germany. After Hitler became Fuhrer he began to
persecute the Jews for their actions in World War I. Many Jews began to flee from Germany and

Pathological Gambling
Pathological gambling is depicted by an absence of control of gambling behavior, failed efforts to
leave or cut back, leniency, use of betting to getaway difficulties, and dishonest to family and
friends about gambling comportment (American Psychiatric Association [APA], 2000a). Difficulty
and pathological gamblinghave also been linked with poorer levels of wellbeing and greater
percentages of disorders throughout populaces (Erickson, Molina, Ladd, Pietrzak, Petry, 2005).
Since the development of permissible gambling, there has been a resultant upsurge in gambling
involvement and gambling glitches (Shaffer Hall, 2001). People with gambling glitches have
considerable liability and jumbled family contacts (Shaw, Forbush, Schlinder, Rosenman, Black,
2007).
Older adults may be more susceptible to gambling glitches due to unchanging earnings, monotony,
and declined activity after retirement, and pathological gamblers have greater degrees of
apprehension, despair, and intoxication (Kerber, Black, Buckwalter, 2008). Older adults with
gambling glitches are also susceptible to comorbid physical diseases. Older adult gamblers may
have felt the extra monetary tension that distresses their physical wellbeing (Pietrzak, Molina,
Ladd, Kerins, Petry, 2005).
Pathological gambling is an increasing public health setback that has received bantam consideration
from investigators, the government, or the overall public. With the development of permissible
gambling, the occurrence

Political Beginnings Essay
The early political beginnings of United States of America were quite rocky. During this time,
politics became an ever growing issue. People were concerned about their wellbeing and whether
or not the government was treating them fairly. This growing concern caused for groups of like
minded people to band together for a common cause and create political factions. These factions
grew to be our present day political parties. It was due to the ratification of the National Bank, The
Whisky Rebellion, The Alien and Sedition Acts, and Jay s Treaty that took place between the eras
of Washington, Adams, and Jefferson, that allowed for the Federalist and Democratic Republican
parties to emerge and assert their differences in early America.... Show more content on

The ratification of the National Bank widened the gap between Federalists and Republicans. Even
though Washington strictly stated that the United States must be a faction less nation, Parties
developed nonetheless. (Dawson, XIV)
The 1794 Whisky Rebellion proved to be a turning point in American politics. In 1794, due to
civilian anger towards a skyrocketing twenty five percent tax on whiskey, one hundred
Pennsylvanian farmers banded together to protest the tax. The protesters attacked a U.S. marshal
that summoned sixty people that failed to pay the tax to appear in court at Philadelphia. In response
to this protest, Washington proclaimed that citizens who resorted to violent forms of protest would
face harsh federal authority. Washington s attack against civilian misconduct showed that the
federal government had the strength to enforce its law. This reaction attracted supporters to the
federalist cause. This assertion strengthened the view of an aristocratic, elite, government and that
the common people were unfit to be a part of the government and that a select few should be in
command. Washington s quickness to impose strong federal power exemplifies the federalist ideals.
The 1800 s election of Jefferson marked the era of the Democratic Republican. Upon Election,
Jefferson demanded dramatic cutbacks to government expenditures, loosening the Judicial branch, a
strict interpretation of

What Does The Nutritional Deficiency Affect A Large...
Research by Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkley,
suggests that micronutrient deficiencies affecting a large percentage of Americans (2% to over
20% for certain nutrients) is responsible for DNA damage that is essentially equivalent to that
caused by radiation exposure This is believed to be a major cause of cancers. Micronutrients and
Macronutrients Before going into Ames findings, we should clarify what constitutes nutritional
deficiency. Nutrients can largely be divided into macro and micronutrients. Macronutrients are
those consumed in large quantities and consists of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. These are the
nutrients that are known best, and they are the ones responsible for giving the body energy, among
other vital functions. Macronutrient deficiencies affect a large number of people in poorer
countries, but for the most part, Americans are not deficient in macronutrients. Micronutrients, in
contrast, are those that are needed in relatively small quantities and consists of various vitamins,
minerals, and certain other essential nutrients. Among those examined by Ames are folic acid,
VitaminB12, Vitamin B6, niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron
, and zinc. Deficiency in
these nutrients can result in DNA damage through DNA strand breaks and oxidative lesions.
Chromosomal aberrations such as double strand breaks are a strong predicative factor for human
cancer (Ames 2001). Thus, it is suggested that

The Impact of Weather and Climate on Health in New...
Weather can affect human health in a variety of ways. For New Zealand, some of the specific
health issues that are linked to weather and climate include melanoma skin cancer, weather
sensitive rheumatism, asthma, Seasonal Affective Disorder, and stress in farmers caused by
weather extremes. Several studies have been done in New Zealandinvestigating the link between
particular health problems and the weather. There are limitations to such studies, including the
obstacle of trying to isolate cause and effect, but it is clear that weather and health correlations do
exist.

Because melanoma is a serious health concern in New Zealand, research has been done exploring
the malignancy. One specific study looked at the occurrence of melanoma throughout New
Zealand. They found that the highest rates generally occurred on the North Island, while there
tended to be lower rates on the South Island. Although the rates of melanoma didn t correspond
precisely with the hours of sunlight that an area has, there was some relation between these two.
Southland, the southernmost region of New Zealand, has the least sunshine and was found to have
the lowest rate of melanoma. The study also found that the rate of melanoma in men was
significantly higher than that in women, and that the rate of melanoma increased with age.1
In response to the health issues associated with exposure to the sun, New Zealand has developed
programs to educate people on the risks of solar radiation and the precautions that can be taken.
One such program is called SunSmart, and its goal is to promote sun safety behaviors in New
Zealand. Some statistics are posted on their website regarding the effects of skin cancer in the
country. These include the fact that every year in New Zealand, about 50,000 new cases of skin
cancer are reported, close to 260 people die from the disease, and it costs the New Zealand health
system around 33 million dollars.3 Though New Zealand may be highly susceptible to sun related
skin cancer, it is still something that is generally

adolescent girls and young women. Anorexia Nervosa affects less than one percent of adolescent

ideas and expectations on how people need to appear in order to be better looking. These people
are viewed as healthy because they are successful when really it is just as unhealthy for people
to be underweight as it is to be overweight. Magazines are generally blamed for rises in eating
disorders from their use of thin models. While showing people what is good for them fashion
wise or appearance wise, they are contradicting themselves by using overly thin models. Arty 15,

Impact of the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill on USA’s...
Depleting reserves, high oil prices and spectacular offshore discoveries concentrated a global
attention to deep water (National Geographic, p.3). Joel and Bourne (2010) claim the Gulf of
Mexico now accounts for 30 percent of U.S. production, with half of that coming from deep water
(1,000 to 4,999 feet) . The U.S. government roughly calculated that the deep Gulf might contain
45 billion barrels of oil (NG, p.44). Hence, this fact gave new reasons for oil companies to drill oil
wells in that region. The Minerals Management Service (MMS), the national agency that
administrated offshore drilling, used to claim that the possibilities of blowout were less than one
percent, and that if one did happen, it would not release much oil (National... Show more content on

After two months Macondo well began gushing crude oil, President Barack Obama addressed to
the nation from the Oval Office, he said: Already, this oil spillis the worst environmental disaster
America has ever faced. And unlike an earthquake or a hurricane, it is not a single event that does
its damage in a matter of minutes or days. The millions of gallons of oil that have spilled into the
Gulf of Mexico are more like an epidemic, one that we will be fighting for months and even
years. Through January 25, 2011, there were collected 8,209 birds, 1,143 sea turtles, and 109
marine mammals affected by the spill alive or dead, visibly oiled or not (Unified Area

environmental and human catastrophe and it will probably demand not months but decades of
nationwide effort to address and recover (Deep water). The specific goal of this paper is to

environmental consequences of Deepwater Horizon oil spill and to determine appropriate

  • 12. Averroes Contradictions During The Crusades The Arab armies captured Jerusalem in 638 and built mosques to declare their dominance, and they even allowed the Christians to continue their religious practices. They even allowed the Jews to return to Jerusalem officially for the first time since they were exiled by the Romans in 135. The Crusades were organized by Western Christians in response to the attempts of the Muslims expansion. In the beginning the crusaders were able to capture Jerusalem in 1099, killing around 3,000 Muslim residents: men, women, children, and many Jews. Muslims and Christians fought each other for centuries during the Crusades. Christians fought to regain lands taken by the Muslims and the Holy Land where Jesus had lived and died. Salah al Din (Saladin) organized his armies and recaptures Jerusalem in 1187. In turn, Richard I of England had captured Acre on the Mediterranean coast in the Third crusade killing thousands of people, but it was soon recaptured by Muslim forces along with any other crusader out posts. The Role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night Essay The Role of Malvolio in Twelfth Night The main storyline in Twelfth Night is love between Cesario, Orsino, Olivia and later on in the play Sebastian. Malvolio s part in the play is a backdrop situation separate from the main story. He brings a level of both humour and sympathy to the play. Malvolio is one of the main sources of humour in Twelfth Night. In the later part of the play a different side of him is exposed. Malvolio is Olivia s steward and his job is to manage Olivia s house; he is her chief servant. It s a very responsible job that he takes very seriously. He enjoys telling people what to do. Twelfth Night is referring to the twelfth night after Christmas, Epiphany. Today, the Twelfth Night after Christmas means the day we take down the decorations, but back in 1600 when the play was written it had a different meaning. Epiphany was a time for celebrating and partying. People used to have parties on Twelfth Night and it was traditional to play practical jokes at this time. These included tricks such as hiding live birds in an empty pie case, so that they flew away when the startled guests cut open the crusts. It was a mad time full of pranks and confusion, just as in the play. This name, Twelfth Night , therefore seems appropriate for this play due to all the confusion and the banter that goes on in the confusing storyline. In Twelfth Night we see different types of humour. There is the word play, the vulgar humour of Sir Toby, stupidity of Sir Andrew, Malvolio s foolishness , and the general confusion caused by Viola s disguise. Shakespeare used dirty and witty humour in most of his plays but it is perhaps most obvious in Twelfth Night. He used different types of humour to please all of the people who flocked to see his plays. There was always an array of people, and they all needed to be kept interested. • 14. A Analysis On The Executive s Management The two CEO s we are considering for this paper have two very different approaches, and what we can only assume is two very different types of organizations. Without knowing the identity of the CEO for the e mail, we don t get a lot of background on the company they are running like we do with SAS. It doesn t tell us the actions they have previously taken in regards to the problem, much about the companyperks or moral, or how long the problem has been going on and it s direct effect to company production. However, it does tell us a lot about this CEO s managementstyle just from this message. First of all, this is an e mail. We don t know the meetings that have been called to address this issue prior to this, but by sending this in an e mail he is making it very impersonal. The CEO here isn t showing the effort necessary to really get his point across through the means he chose. They are also very threatening, by deciding to take away privileges such as the Associate Center and the Stock Purchase Program instead of providing incentives for improvement. The CEO for this company needs to take responsibility for his part in allowing the culture of his company to facilitate this type of behavior in its employees. A hiring freeze and a reduction in staff will cause more work all around, whether specific employees are part of the problem, or not. This will most likely not be good for company morale or retention rate. It does appear that something does need to be done to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 15. Philip Zimbardo s Temptation Of Evil Zimbardo raises the question what happens to average, ordinary human beings that make them turn to the dark side of human nature. Within his book he uses research as well as many examples to show a showcase of studies and experiments in which an individual(s) are lured to the dark side due to the situation they are in and other affecting elements. As well as listing evidence from historical events, Zimbardo also writes about how we can shut down the temptation to give in to evil. The book may have a name for a difficult read just because many can t believe the simplicity of evil behavior. Zimbardo s purpose of this novel is to illuminate the idea of how easy it is to give in to the temptation of evil. A great number of our societies individuals moral views are based on their religion which make them very narrow minded to the topic of temptation of evil. Zimbardo tries to open people s mind to make them see how evil may not be born into an individual but created from the environment they are in. Schempp was a decision that did not forbid the reading of the Bible in a public school what was illegal was the required readings of the Bible as a religious exercise. Many religious leaders and other people similar to those have said that the government have taken God out of schools! but in reality they didn t they just have forbidden religious exercise that break the First and Fourteenth Amendment. The government has a neutral ground that they do not intend to be contrary towards religion or to aid in establishing worldly or secularism in the schools. The government did not prohibit the Bible reading as an independent or individual act by teachers or students. There is no illegal action for students to be disallowed to bring a Bible to school and read it silently during their spare time. Also a teacher should have the same freedom. Prayer and the reading of the Bible are both very personnel acts of worship. Reading the Bible can be taken in private and public places because it is a private act which is most significant to a person. The religious intention of the Bible reading is a form of communication between God and a person on earth. Essay about Poetry Analysis Mezzo Cammin Mezzo Cammin The poem Mezzo Cammin by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow explains his regretful life and his reasoning at why he didn t live it to its full potential and how he looks at his past. It then looks to his future as being near and bearing a huge weight down on him. The way Longfellow talks about his life is depressing. He doesn t speak of the good accomplishments, only the things he hasn t done until he looks back into the past and then forward at how the future may be. In the first part of the poem Longfellow talks about his life being halfway over and everything that stopped him from really living his life. In the very first couple of lines he says I have let the years slip from me and have not fulfilled the aspiration of my ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He describes it strangely, And hear above me on the autumnal blast The cataract of Death far thundering from the heights. These lines are very open ended and in one way he could be speaking of death as far away by the way he describes the thundering waterfall very high up. The reference to height could mean its at a good distance that he can see it, but its still far away. It could also mean he has more of his life to live up to and his regretful past doesn t mean much to him anymore because he has his future to look forward to as he is on his metaphorical hill of life. In another view, he could be describing death as being right around the corner and him looking right at it when he describes the waterfall. You could look at it as him having a life threatening disease and him knowing his death is coming soon, which could also describe the way he views his past full of regret. If he knew the end is coming soon and he doesn t believe he fully lived his life to how he wishes, the regret is understandable and the cataract of death makes sense in this point of view. Overall, this poem shows the past, present, and future of the writer. His life is full of regret at points and then seems hopeful in others. This poem could be viewed in many ways but mostly you understand it as a man who wishes he could change his past because he knows his future is near and his life will soon be coming to an ... The Warfare During The American Civil War The conduct of warfare during the American Civil War best exemplified one characteristic of the Western way of war, which without its incorporation could have drastically changed the outcome of the war and the existence of the United States as we know it. This characteristic demonstrated is innovation. Innovation as a characteristic of the Western way of war best exemplifies the American Civil Warbased on the telegraph, the rifled musketand the railroad. Had the Union and United States government not leveraged the above mentioned technologies the outcome of the war could have resulted in the division of this country. From the onset of the Civil War the South possessed two advantages. One was geography and the other was that it did not have to win the war. The vastness of the United State presented command and control challenges and logistical challenge for both Union and Confederal forces. This before mentioned challenge played into the Confederate forces other advantage which was they could simple keep the Union forces to a draw during the war and thus ensuring their future as an independent country. For the Union forces to overcome the challenge of geography and to not result in a draw they used innovations such as the telegraph to communicate orders to Soldiers over vast distances and thus making geography and the tyranny of distance a less of an advantage for the Confederate forces. • 22. Overview of Cash Flow Management Cash Flow Management Poor cash management is the most frequent stumbling block that causes business failure (Anon., 2013). Good cash management comes from knowing when, where, and how cash needs will occur. Knowing the best sources for cash is vital to being prepared to meet needs as they arise. This requires good relationships with bankers and creditors. Developing and maintaining cash flow projections helps to understand how cash is generated and used in a business. Without understanding the cash flow of a business, the business is doomed for failure. Mr. Morello s projected cash flow for January 2012 to June 2012 shows negative cash flows for January and May, with January $42,560 and May $1,190 in the negative. The majority of the January expenses come from the needs of the contract. The May loss can be covered with profits from February, March, and April, but January becomes a major problem. The projected budget shows enough in profits to obtain a loan to cover the loss, overdraft, and still have some working capital for expenses, such as fuel or maintenance for vehicles that is not in the projected budget. Mr. Morello would need to obtain a loan for at least $50,000. Because accounts receivable can sometimes be unpredictable, it would be wiser to consider the loan for $60,000 to ensure that the business needs are met in a timely manner. In efforts to reduce the interest expense from a loan, community banks and the Small Business Administration offer lower interest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The main organizations for carrying out free trade are World Trade Organization (WTO) established on 1995, International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB). Specifically, trade openness is measured by the (unweighted) average tariff rate ( de jure measure), and the ratios of both non oil exports and non oil imports to GDP ( de facto measures). Financial openness is measured by the Chinn Ito index of capital account openness ( de jure measure), the ratios of various types of financial liabilities (foreign direct investment, portfolio equity, and debt) to GDP and the stock of foreign direct investment assets expressed as a percentage of GDP ( de facto measures). What makes the smartphones so smart is the OS, in other words, the operation system. The OS is the basic and soul of a smartphone, which means if the phone is the body, then the OS is the neural network and intellectual system to control the body. Among diverse operation systems, Apple s IOS and Android OS are the most outstanding, they have occupied about 96 percent of the whole global smartphone market together. They are both widely used and liked by individuals but they also have own advantages and disadvantages. The first difference is in Customizability. Accessing and completing control over the devices is available the bootloader can also be unlocked by Android users while that is not available for IOS users. Users of IOS are highly limited to customize it unless jailbreak, but after jailbreak, the Apple Company will be no longer and no need to keep its promise on the products because jailbreak is banned by the official. The OS of Android is totally different, users can change almost everything if they want to. This difference comes from the different source model, which is closed, with open source component in IOS and open in Android. Kinship can be defined as society acknowledging biological connections between people. This view however has been challenged because kinship systems are regarded now as too complex. C. Levi Strauss (1963) argued; Kinship...only exists in human consciousness. The correct way of studying the relationship between biology and kinship systems can only be made by looking at particular societies and cannot be made universally. Biology may have very little to do with kinship when you look at cultures which play with facts. However, once you take ethno biology into consideration, everything about kinship can be linked to biology. W. River s (1965) work on kinship and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In his work on the Yap Schneider argues that membership is not so much based on biological relationships but rather on affinity. Membership is established not through birth but through residence, activities and relationships. (1984) Affiliation is also established by name giving. A newborn child becomes formally affiliated through the process of being given a name by one of the senior members. Consequently it cannot itself be a descent group. (1984). A. Kuper (1999) points out that if Stauss theory was correct then why are all societies not structuring their kinship around alliances such as African tribal societies. One possible reason could be because of cultural relativism. According to R. Redfield (1953) cultural relativism means; the values of that culture are to be understood only by the way the people of that culture see things. Schneider uses cultural relativism to analysis the meaning of kinship and the taken for granted assumptions like the construction of relatives. For example, a new report published by Tufts Center for the Study of Drug Development (CSDD) expresses that the costs of new drug development which is one of the wide applications of clinical trials have been pegged at $2.558 billion, with a 145% increase over an estimate made in 2003 [9]. 2.Clinical trial classification Clinical trials are divided into two main classes based on how participants are allocated to different interventions: randomized and non randomized controlled trials [21]. Non randomized trials (also called quasi experiment) assign participants to the treatments, procedures, or interventions by methods that are not random. These trials are used when randomization is impractical and/or unethical. They are typically easier to set up than randomized trials which need random assignment of subjects. Thus, the factorial designs can evaluate not only the effects of each intervention but also the interaction that may exist between two interventions (or treatments). For this reason, this trial design can be viewed as an efficient way to conduct two trials in one. For any company involved in the development of IT system applications or any other software, having a team of people who knows what they are doing, will determine if the application will be useful or a total failure. Since money cannot be wasted and it is sometimes shorted by the client, having the experience and the right leaders to keep this project organized and on schedule, will help the development teammembers finish this project on time and on budget. However, in order to stay on track of the requirements set by the client, communicating with the client on a regular basis either by phone or by virtual meetings, the results of the project will most likely be a success. To me, the purpose of these meetings are to keep the client involved in the project as much as possible so that all the discussed requirements are well understood and if any changes are made by the client, then new changes can be made right there on the spot avoiding future delays. I think that the main goal here is to keep the client satisfied with the results as much as possible. When I say results I mean, making sure that what the client wants and do not want on the system application is included to the last detail. During the life cycle of the project, there are going to be many decisions to be made, and keeping in touch with the client as much as possible, the decisions might change the results of the project in terms of delays or higher costs. For example, the development team might set an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every era has experienced a technological evolution, what matters the most is who adapts and get benefited from that technology. Information technology in today s world has touched a new height whose motto is to make things simpler. It was only with the help of technology we are able to shrink our desktop computer so small that now we can make it fit easily in our pockets (Mobile Phones) (Arvind, Richard Ann, 2005). The main description about the IT governance process is that the decision making rights in the company are being divided among the stakeholders who are in the enterprise and this will also help to make and monitor the strategic and crucial decisions of the IT (Ryan, 2004). This chapter also mentioned about the three models of governance which are centralized, decentralized and federal. With the advancement of the information technology, the need of Information security and governance has increased a lot. Every organization stores data which is an important asset to them. He was a great French conductor, composer, pianist, and editor for many musician s works including Claude Debussy. On his first attempt, in 1901, Caplet won the Prix de Rome for his piece Myrrha. This prestigious competition enabled the winner to stay in Rome for 3 5 years to study music; It often took many great composers several years to obtain. Caplet mainly made his career as a conductor though. He brought a very precise element to the French music scene that had not yet been explored. He was recruited in 1910 to be the conductor for the Boston Opera Company after which only two years he was promoted to artistic director. After another two years, he would volunteer for the French army where he would be injured and end his conducting career. Caplet died at the early age of 47 in 1925 from pleurisy. Deux Divertissements was written in 1924, only one year before Caplet s death. The word divertissements in a French context means to interject a short dance and or song in the middle of an opera or ballet. The piece, containing many downward moving melodic lines, represents in a historical context perhaps the way in which Caplet felt about his life after his injury in the war. This literature review will succinctly analyze and evaluate the effect that e tailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, by looking at the ways in which the bricks and mortar retail stores have had to develop their retailing strategy in an increasingly digital world. Across the extant literature three themes were consistently detected around the effects online retailing has had on traditional bricks and mortar retailing, in the forms of the responses of physical retailers to this digital shift in the sector; fight it, use it or embrace it by fully integrating it into an ongoing strategy. Each of these themes is discussed below. Christianity And Christianity Of Christianity Being some of the biggest religions in the world today, Christianity and Catholicism are considered to be symbols of stability, comfort, and security because of its strong faith. This, however, has not always been true. Over the course of hundreds of thousands of years, Christianity and Catholicism have gone through tremendous changes through different major events in history. Ranging from the Council of Nicaea the early church community prior to 1054 to the Spanish Colonization of the New World prior to 1900 to the Second Vatican Council after 1900 all of these events created waves of change in these religions and helped form them into what they are today. At the dawn of Christianity, many differing beliefs existed. Small factions, without leadership, practiced their own interpretations of their faith. Due to its nature as a persecuted religion, it was difficult for the early church to establish a semblance of leadership. After Constantine s legalization and implementation of Christianity in 313 A.D., it became clear that Catholics needed to consolidate their beliefs. This wasn t accomplished until 325 A.D. when the Council of Nicaea was convened. There were many motivations for holding the council, including: the deliberation on the nature of God and Jesus Christ and what it meant to be Christian among others. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The ratification of the National Bank widened the gap between Federalists and Republicans. Even though Washington strictly stated that the United States must be a faction less nation, Parties developed nonetheless. (Dawson, XIV) The 1794 Whisky Rebellion proved to be a turning point in American politics. In 1794, due to civilian anger towards a skyrocketing twenty five percent tax on whiskey, one hundred Pennsylvanian farmers banded together to protest the tax. The protesters attacked a U.S. marshal that summoned sixty people that failed to pay the tax to appear in court at Philadelphia. In response to this protest, Washington proclaimed that citizens who resorted to violent forms of protest would face harsh federal authority. Washington s attack against civilian misconduct showed that the federal government had the strength to enforce its law. This reaction attracted supporters to the federalist cause. This assertion strengthened the view of an aristocratic, elite, government and that the common people were unfit to be a part of the government and that a select few should be in command. Research by Bruce Ames, professor of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at UC Berkley, suggests that micronutrient deficiencies affecting a large percentage of Americans (2% to over 20% for certain nutrients) is responsible for DNA damage that is essentially equivalent to that caused by radiation exposure This is believed to be a major cause of cancers. Micronutrients and Macronutrients Before going into Ames findings, we should clarify what constitutes nutritional deficiency. Nutrients can largely be divided into macro and micronutrients. Macronutrients are those consumed in large quantities and consists of carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. These are the nutrients that are known best, and they are the ones responsible for giving the body energy, among other vital functions. Macronutrient deficiencies affect a large number of people in poorer countries, but for the most part, Americans are not deficient in macronutrients. Micronutrients, in contrast, are those that are needed in relatively small quantities and consists of various vitamins, minerals, and certain other essential nutrients. Among those examined by Ames are folic acid, VitaminB12, Vitamin B6, niacin (Vitamin B3), Vitamin C, Vitamin E, iron , and zinc. Deficiency in these nutrients can result in DNA damage through DNA strand breaks and oxidative lesions. Chromosomal aberrations such as double strand breaks are a strong predicative factor for human cancer (Ames 2001). Thus, it is suggested that ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
