The objective of this lab was to observe how surface conditions affected Temperature,
moisture, and wind.
II.Methods:
The materials that were used to complete this lab was an instruction packet, probe
thermometer, IR gun, the Kestrel weather instrument, and a finger.
III.Results:
For this lab my classmates and I all had to go to different locations to collect the data
that was needed. Some of us were out in the sun, others were in the shade so we all
got different answers on our sheet. For my location I was out in front of the Center
for Environmental and Life Sciences (CELS). At that location we looked at three sub
location for our data, there were the grass, mulch, and rocks. The sites had many
characteristics but the three that my group choose to focus on was the location had
direct sun light that happened to be shining from the right side. The wind was blowing
at CELS but it felt like it had a tunnel breeze. The last thing that we said was it had
a very diverse landscape. We also gave characteristics for the three sub locations
that we observed. For number one we looked at the grass and it was yellow with
wet soil. Number two was the mulch and it was black, brown, and dry. Number three
was the rocks and they were large, smooth, and greyish. The characteristics of the
three sub locations affected out data in many different ways.
For my three locations the surface temperature was greater than the air temperature. I

In this paper, the effect of cryogenic (liquid nitrogen) cooling on grain size and
mechanical properties of Friction stir welded (FSWed) 2014 Aluminum alloy was
studied. The welding parameters and tool pin profile plays a major role in deciding
the weld quality. The threads on the tool profile generates a fairly localized
deformation which results high volume of material was stirred and carried with the
pin tool and also better mixing of plasticized metal. Cryogenic process (Liquid
Nitrogen) was employed after Friction stir welding to reduce the grain size and to
improve the mechanical properties of FSWed 2014 Aluminum alloy. It is observed
that the grain size is decreased to 250 nm under cryogenic process with the liquid
nitrogen by using Transmission electron microscope. It is also observed that
mechanical properties are enormously improved. The observed grain size and
mechanical properties have been correlated with microstructures and fracture features.

I thought Heidi A. Mckee had some really interesting material that I had not
thought of before on the issue of ethical and legal issues surrounding the
convergence of media. As media in today s age is constantly changing, so in order
to keep up with the ever evolving media the ethical and legal laws must also evolve
with it. Before reading this essay by Mckee, I did not know about the legal and
ethical implications of mediaconvergence. So in reading this it was very eye opening
to see all the issues associated media.
What really stuck out to me was the issues of ethical issues as a teacher who

Unknown Vs Evil In Frankenstein
One of the many themes in James Whale s 1931 film Frankenstein is that of the
known vs the unknown or good vs evil. Whale uses the motif of fire as a powerful
extension of what the good can do to the darkness. Fire is used as a way to keep
the Monster or the evil representation of the film in isolation and outside of the
known world and also as a way to show that the known or good will always win
against the unknown or evil.
Known vs unknown or good vs evil falls into the category of a knowledge narrative
according to Andrew Tudor. Tudor says that the narrative itself functions by
proposing the existence of a body of knowledge capable of mediating between these
domains of known and unknown (83). The first distinct moment where there is
realization of the darkness/unknown trying to seep into the world of the light/known
is when Henry Frankenstein says that his monster has only been kept in complete
darkness and to wait until [he] brings him into the light (30:30 30:35). After his
speech the Monster walks into the room and Frankenstein closes the light as if to
wait for the right moment to bring him into light or the world of the known. When
the Monster finally sits down on a chair, Frankenstein opens the window on the roof
to reveal the sunlight (32:07). Once the sunlight is revealed to the Monster, it
slowly turns his head upwards and walks very slowly and carefully into the light.
