Brain Controlled Artificial Legs
BRAIN CONTROLLED ARTIFICIAL LEGS
ABSTRACT:
This paper describes a brain controlled robotic leg which is designed to perform the normal operations
of a human leg. After implanting this leg in a human, the leg can be controlled with the help of user s
brain signals alone. This leg behaves similar to a normal human leg and it can perform operation like
walking, running, climbing stairs etc. The entire system is controlled with the help of advanced
microcontrollers and digital signal processors. The signals are taken out from the human brain with
the help of electroencephalography technique. The person can perform operations like walking,
running etc just by their thought. This system will be very much suitable for those who lost their ...

The following figure shows the different types of waves and also the mental state of the per son.
Those waves usually vary from a frequency of 1Hz to 40 HZ. Electrode cap is placed in the scalp of
the person. The signals taken out from the human brain will be in the range of mV and µV. Hence they
are fed to an amplifier. Then it is sent to a Analog to Digital Converter to convert the analog brain
signals in to digital form. Then it is sent to a signal processor where parameter extraction, pattern
classification and pattern identification are done. These digital signals are fed as input to
microcontroller unit. The last four units (Amplifier, Signal Processor, Analog to Digital Converter and
Microcontroller Unit) are placed inside the artificial leg. The output of the microcontroller unit is fed
to the driving circuit. Let us see about these blocks in detail.
Electrode Cap: a person wears an electrode cap. These electrode caps contains electrodes which are
placed on the skull in an arrangement called 10 20 system, a placement scheme devised by the interna

Skateboarding Research Papers
Skateboarding is really easy to do when you come to think about, all it really is balancing on a board
with wheels and finding your dominant foot and leg to push yourself with. The first step to conquering
the board is to get over come your fear of riding. This has to be one of the most important steps
because if you don t get over your fear you will most definitely fall on your butt or even worst your...
face! Now do you really want to fall on your face or butt? Yea that what I thought. But the most easy
way to conquer your fear is to get on a board on a flat street and have a friend push you down the

simple way of doing this is... just standing on a board on a flat street/drive way and just stand on the

Challenges Facing The United States
There will be significant challenges facing the United States in the next 10 years regarding strategic
threats and global security. The three overlapping types of conflicts which will dictate future wars,
challenge government agencies, and force all branches of the Armed Forces to restructure their
formations are Wars of Silicon, Iron, and Shadow. The four U.S. Services will need to rebalance, be
adaptive, implement strategic agility, and reprioritize their programs to meet specific security issues
posed by these conflicts. Diverse adversaries will employ traditional, unconventional, and hybrid
strategies to threaten U.S. National Security. Joint Forces by 2025 will need to be leaner,
technologically superior, and expeditionary to support Combatant Commanders so; they can win in
full spectrum operations and defend U.S. national interests at home and overseas. These new and
adaptive Defense strategies will require making profound choices due to budget constraints and
Sequestration. There are significant risks associated with these choices, which will require
implementing stringent control measure to mitigate those risks. The Wars of Iron, Silicon, and Shadow
are shaping strategic interest for the U.S. at home and abroad; in addition will force government
agencies to make tough financial and strategic decision, which could significantly influence National
Military Strategy for years. The United States must design an innovative readiness and investment

Analysis Of The Book Young Goodman Brown And The...
Nathaniel Hawthorne and Washington Irving are two of the most prolific and successful writers of
their era. Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown is a story about a man, Goodman Brown who happens
to set out on a trip for an evil purpose. On the way he meets a man who offers him his staff, saying
that it might help him walk faster, but Goodman Brown refuses and wishes to return back to his
village for the sake of his wife, Faith. On the other hand, Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker is about
an individual who lets his greed and selfishness take charge of him. Tom Walker, a greedy man,
attempts to make a deal with a devil. Tom seeks wealth and in return the devil asks for his soul. In
both stories, the authors express their feelings and views about staying away from indulgence and sin.
In spite of all the difference among Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown and Irving s, The Devil and
Tom Walker, they share salient similarities such as setting, symbolism, and author s purpose.
To begin with, Hawthorne and Irving portray a similar use of setting in their works of literature. Both
authors illustrate a gloomy setting which takes place in remote areas of Massachusetts around the
same period of time. For instance, The Devil and Tom Walker takes place in a historical area settled by
Quakers and Puritans where religion and virtue is widespread among the people. However, much of
the setting of the narrative takes place in a deep inlet winding several miles into the Charles Bay,

Essay About Hockey
Why One Hockey Player Can Make A World Of Difference
By: Jami Ness As a Canadian, hockey is something very important to me and my family. Especially
the Calgary Flames. When I was younger, the Calgary Flames never made the Stanley Cup Playoffs,
that was something very frustrating for all Flames fans. This all changed when Sean Monahan was
drafted in 2013 and turned the franchise around. Sean was a resilient child that showed throughout his
hockey career. Sean made the Calgary Flames a true playoff contender by bringing more offensive
power to them than they ve ever seen. This truly changed the Calgary Flames and how the city of
Calgary and fans from all around view hockey and many kids are inspired to be as good as Sean. Sean

6 goals in the first 9 games. He has made the playoffs twice out of four seasons with the Flames. In his
second playoff run, he got 4 goals second to Sidney Crosby s winger, Jake Guentzel. He also got his
100th goal this year, being the youngest flame to achieve it and the 6th youngest NHLer right under
very acclaimed players like Kane and Stamkos. He was recognized as a upcoming tremendous hockey
player and was invited to play in the 2011 17U hockey challenge and was a key role in Team Toronto
winning. By this point in time, Sean was well known across the National Hockey League as a
centreman who knew how to score, set up plays, and run a great powerplay line effortlessly. Even
though Monahan has been in the NHL for 4 years he continues to have the same power and speed he
originally came with. The fan base for the Flames has grown tremendously; especially with kids since
Sean was drafted. Everytime I go to Calgary for a hockey game, I see more Monahan jerseys than
anyone else because he is what every kid wants to become, a fast hockey player who scores; lots. The
game has changed since 2013, and it s all because of Sean Monahan. Although there are many players
who score as often, if not more often than Sean, what sets him apart is his drive, intelligence, speed
and agility. Sean monahan has changed the game for all fans, players who play with and players

Branagh Hamlet Comparison
In the Kenneth Branagh film, the interpretation it conveyed was most appropriate to how Shakespeare
wrote in the book. Hamlet s anger and rage was best shown through this version. The setting is in a
Victorian age theatre where the performance of the play was appropriate to the time in which
Shakespeare wrote. This version was the version which was not shortened. It was most similar to
Hamlet in Shakespeare; it was connected best with the original work of Shakespeare. It was the most
effective in conveying the work of the original play by showing best Hamlet s behavior, emotions and
insane actions through the actor, Branagh. Branagh did a great job in showing how out of control

Both Claudius and Gertrude showed a shocking reaction , they looked uncomfortable after they start
understanding what was going on in the play. The audience was confused and started whispering to
each other. Claudius looked nervous and started looking around and keeps looking at Polonius almost
as if he was blaming him for what Hamlet was doing. Cladius received flashbacks while watching the
play and starts picturing what he did to the King at the same time it was being shown in the play.
Claudius looked angry and with shame, he stands up and leaves the theatre quickly after seeing how
Hamlet had portrayed him in the play. Claudius reaction looked with fear, he reacted by standing up
and demandimg that he gets air and leaves the room. Cladius looked as if he wanted to be away from
the audience to release how he felt. As Claudius exits the theatre , so does the audience in a chaotic
way. Gertrude here is confused and quiet, being left speechless after she understands Hamlet s
intentions and what he was trying to imply with his play. I preferred this version because it protays the
interpretation of the scene best to how I read it in the

The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved
In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the
characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and
treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring
the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to
live. In the article Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison s
Beloved , Sally Keenan explores the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories
with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must
somehow be laid aside if life is to continue (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the
difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time
cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of
pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories
cannot be forgotten.

Marx s Theory Of Total Social Capital
Marx begins his analysis of capital accumulation and growth with the demarcation of capital into its
two constituent parts: constant and variable capital. The former pertains to the means of production
utilized (as determined by its mass), whereas the latter term applies to human labour power inputs of
production (and is accounted for by the aggregation of wages). The organic composition of capital was
then conceived to establish the ratio of constant (value composition) to variable (technical
composition) capital incorporated in production. In order to extrapolate the allocation capital of a
single firm across the entire economy, Marx devised the concept of total social capital. This term
refers to the average arrangements of capital in each sector of the economy, averaged across all
spheres of the economy. Capital inherently generates an annual surplus, which in turn influences the
level of variable capital employed. The surplus produced by capital is divided into revenue for the
capitalist or reinvested in production. This reallocation of surplus ultimately determines the degree of
accumulation (if more capital is reinvested, and less kept as revenue for consumption, then
accumulation will be higher). It also has an effect on wages and the demand and supply of labour (i.e.
components of variable capital). Supply increases absolutely, as does the demand for labour (if the
variable capital needed for the operation of constant capital is unaffected) and wages will grow if

Fargo, and the role of Setting
Fargo, a dark and somewhat humorous crime movie by the Coen Brothers delves into themes of
isolation, morality, and greed. And throughout the film, a very prominent role is played by the setting.
The Coen brothers make sure that no one misses where the story takes place small town upper
Midwest in the middle of a frigid winter. The film makes extensive use of the frozen landscape, the
characterization of rural Midwesterners, and realistic depiction of the events of the story in order to
emphasize these themes. There is a great deal of contrast in this movie between moral and amoral
characters as well as contrast between what the viewer expects from such dark ... Show more content

This is a powerful image that clearly shows the crushed Jerry and his increasing feeling of solitude.
Another use of the setting comes in the form of the characterization. A big contributor to the story and
feel of the film is the characterization of the characters in the film. Again, this Midwestern setting
becomes obvious when the viewer hears the strong upper Midwest accents used by all the residents of
rural Minnesota. Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and moral, and that
becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are portrayed.
Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by
Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the stereotypical
nice attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break this demeanor. Even
though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in the case, she maintains
this even tempered friendly attitude.
This optimistic and positive outlook hides her very sharp mind for crime, and contrasts greatly with
the sinister things that are taking place around her. This emphasizes the nature of the events that have
come to pass. Throughout the movie, the disparity between the demeanor of the characters and
surrounding events creates a subtle humor really a second viewing of the movie to

the beginning of the short story Mrs. Mallard revives terrible news that her husband has been recently

She had every right to spend money on herself, go where she wanted, and do whatever she wanted to
do without anyone questioning her. Having kids and a husband has affected her freedom greatly,
which is internally affecting her. With all these responsibilities she had no time no second of time to
devote to the past. Mrs. Sommers can t dwell in the past with so many things to do; she needs to focus
on getting though the present day with little money to spend. With never looking back on the past or
the future she is now trained in thinking that tomorrow will never come. Just like Mrs. Mallard not
thinking for herself and dreading the next day being the same, Mrs. Sommers has transformed into a
typical mother. Everyday is the same to her all she does is take care of her kids. Chopin continues to
display how following the expectations of society can be detrimental. After Mrs. Sommers figured out
what she wanted to spend on her children, she went shopping. She went into a store and sat down for a

Total Quality Management At Kiichiro Toyoda
The main pillars in the model resemble the total quality control or total quality management of the
company that can best be summarized in this pyramid illustration.
Total quality management means that everyone is involved in continuously refining the service to
customers with data and profound knowledge. Kiichiro Toyoda made customers a huge priority in his
theory. The base of the pyramid consisted of the costs of gaining quality, processing services, testing,
tools, and prevention. The second level of the pyramid is involvement, which examines the rewards,
acknowledgment, training, empowerment, and partnerships within the company. The third level is
leadership that deals with talks about the ownership, management support, and the corporation s
mission plan. The next level is culture, which explains the values and continuous improvement made
by the employees. Finally the top of the pyramid is total quality management, which encompasses the
main goal of being a customer driven company. Toyoda s primary viewpoints in his system embrace
the theories of just in time and Jidoka. Just in time (JIT) focuses on productivity improvement with the
main idea being, making only what is needed, when it is needed, and in the amount needed . The main
goal for JIT was to effectively build a car within the shortest possible amount of time by obeying four
guidelines. The first rule states that when the first order is established it must be brought to the start of

How Did Martin Luther King I Have A Dream Speech
Martin luther king is most greatly known for his I have a dream speech but there is much more to Mr.
Kings life than just that. King led many Civil rights movements since the mid 1950 s using his words

his two siblings, Christine and alfred, and his Grandparents, Jenny Parks and Adam Daniel Williams.
His Grandfather, Adam was the pastor at Ebenezer Baptist Church which is the church where Martin

enjoyed playing sports such as baseball and football. While King was growing up he knew that black
men were not granted the same rights as white people. He knew they couldn t drink the same water, sit
in the same seats, or use the same bathroom. He graduated from Booker T Washington high school in
1944. Later he enrolled in Morehouse college and got his degree in sociology and later went to Crozer

why the majority of companies chose to raise the money by selling shares instead. Companies want
more money for new investments, new innovations, and to be able to build up their savings too. Plus,
companies need more money for when they start new projects. When a company goes public it is not
always positive. One disadvantage of going public is the owner or owners of a company cannot
manage the company like it is his or her private company anymore. The business must make sure and
acknowledge that they are responsible to shareholders and will need to make sure that they have
quarterly calls and explain their business actions and why they made the choices they did. A company
making this transition and going through this process can longer just do what they want and get away
with it. They have to take the responsibility and remember to respect shareholders in order to have a
successful company and continue to grow. Another disadvantage carrying from the last issue is that all

The Enron Scandal Of Enron Essay
One popular event that took place in our economy was the Enron Scandal, which happened in late
2000 and lasted into the following year. Those who were involved in this incident directly such as
CEO s Ken Lay and Jeff Skilling thought what they were doing was not wrong and that they were able
to get away with making millions falsely (Seabury, 2008). However, this was a serious crisis situation
and many people were affected through the process as well as their money. Enron was valuing
themselves at a higher price than what they truly were worth, and nothing was matching up ( The Fall
of Enron ). Enron was able to make it appear that they were having many new business ventures with
imaginary companies or companies where it just did not work out for them, adding value to their
company, and hiding all of their mistakes (Keller, 2002). Not only this, but their main goal was getting
into the energy business and having it become de regulated which subsequently had the state of
California suffering an energy crisis due to their greediness (Seabury, 2008). Overall, the underlying
causation of their downfall and crisis was their greed. These people behind the Enron name were
money hungry and as long as the pay checks were coming to them, they did not care about the
employees who would be losing their jobs, the people who had to endure the power outages in
California, nor the people who s money they manipulated and eventually lost. Enron was also favored
by the government since they had

The Resilience Of Nature By Sara Teasdale And Carl...
The Resilience of Nature The outcome of engaging in war brings about inevitable consequences and
atrocities that ultimately become part of humanities history. With the battles of war leaving such
destruction in its wake one would think that there would remain visible and noticeable scars upon the
landscape. However, nature and time have the ability to erase all the evidence and devastation that war
can leave behind. The many non human life forms that exist in nature are unaware and undeterred
from their purpose and routine within the environment. Even if humans destroy themselves to the
point of non existence nature will continue to flourish. Although Sara Teasdale and Carl Sandberg
have each chosen the topic of war within their poems and both have used nature to convey their
opinions about humanity; the mechanics used to write each poem are different. Each poet chooses the
theme of nature s generative abilities to portray man s disillusion about what war truly has a lasting
effect on. Each author s poem reads as a metaphorical opinion about war and the existence of humans
within the natural environment; as well as the physical history of war that is left behind. Sara Teasdale
and Carl Sandberg also both seem to agree that the damages and carnage of war have no permanency
on nature s ability to carry on in spite of human atrocities. Both poems also highlight nature s physical
capabilities to dispose of the bodies left behind and ignore what was torn apart as a result of

Dishonest Stewardship Quotes
The Parable of the Dishonest Steward (Luke 16: 1 13) This parable is an exhibition of an unjust action
committed by a dishonest steward that continues to be sneaky even after he is fired by his master for
squandering his belongings. How could one be remorseful over his or her actions but proceed to
surreptitiously receive money underhandedly in a way he that makes it seem like he or she is doing it
in a honorable way? The dishonest steward knew what he was doing was wrong and once he was
caught he just found a way to do it again but without the label of being the master s steward. This
passage teaches readers to find one who is trustworthy in every situation, because if you cannot trust
someone in a small dilemma what could possibly make you ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

And a general answer would be honesty, which is a fair summarization towards the word stewardship.
According to Huffington Post, Good Stewardship is an American Duty displays the principle of
stewardship. In the article it states that we literally have one planet to live and flourish upon and with
the constant release of new and expensive products that cause pollution to our air, water, and earth. We
are the constant destruction of our wallets and living benefits. So stewardship would not only be an
American duty but also a spiritual duty to God to help protect his creation in which we call planet
Earth. We can become trustworthy stewards to solve this worldwide problem not as an order from
mammon but as a deed for God. No servant can serve two masters. He will either hate one and love
the other, or be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. (Luke

Jesus What If He Return Essay
What If He Returned
1. The general consensus of Jesus second coming to Christians would mark an upheaval, a coming of
the age so to speak. There are many theories and literary revelations depicting what would occur, from
vanishing in a rapture and comings with trumpets and horns; consequently, what would actually
happen is up to debate. Without a doubt, some form of change will occur, but the extent of his return
and how much it means is not known definitely.
2. Personally, I am not ready. Although preparation for any form of event ranging from electrical
outages to hurricane and war is practiced, the coming of Jesus does not appear to be an imminent
threat. Additionally, no historical event can compare to what is portrayed to take place. ... Show more

Jesus would likely be characterized as poor, thusly he would be some form of menial laborer. This is
assuming that he would make the same entrance as a humble man of peace as he was in the new
testament.
3. At the time, Jesus likely spoke Aramaic, Greek, and Hebrew. With this knowledge, it is safe to
conclude that he will still know Hebrew and Aramaic as they are both profound in Jews and the
Jewish religion. The reason why Jesus spoke Greek was likely in part of Roman occupation which
deemed Greek as the official language. Equivalently, today he would speak English or Arabic as they
are both widespread languages and languages of the region he is to be born.
4. Considering Jesus is likely to come from a lower class, he would hold an unskilled occupation as
clerk, cashier, janitor, driver, construction worker, or anything that parallels his counterpart as a
carpenter.
5. Jesus cannot be practicing a religion if he is the key figure in one and in fact God. Although he may
act in the beliefs of Christianity, he will have his own ministry if he does not create a mass revolution.
It is probable that he will have an adequate amount of knowledge in the local religions of Christianity,
Judaism, and Islam.

Tracy Chapman Stereotypes
Fast Car is a song written by Tracy Chapman, who is an American folk, blues rock, pop and soul
singer songwriter. Produced by David Kershenbuam it was released on April 1st, 1988 in her Tracy
Chapman album. Tracy wrote this song because it was about a relationship that didn t work out
because it started from the wrong place. This song is about a girl who has grown up poor and stayed
behind with an alcoholic father after her mother left him for drinking. The girl met a man whom she
thought can help her get a better life for herself and dreamt of being happy with the man she loved.

That life is a bumpy road and no matter what happens do not lose hope. Do not dwell in the past, do
not let the past make you, do not hold onto previous pains, let go of things you cannot change, and
keep moving forward because that is how life should be. Communication is powerful because it can be
a perfomative action such as Tracy singing her song. Her music is an instrument of power and do

Classical Iconography Within The Commissions Of Lorenzo De...
The Important Incorporation of Classical Iconography Within the Commissions of Lorenzo de Medici
and Pope Julius II
Julius II and Lorenzo de Medici arguably had not so dissimilar goals in their patronage. Patronage was
a tool for exerting political power, exemplifying personal magnificence, and invoking a sense of civic
duty. These patrons attempted to display different pieces of these attributes in different ways.
Lorenzo de Medici, born into arguably the most prestigious family in Florence, grew up familiar with
the importance of the commissioning of artworks and public works projects. The commissioning of
these works allowed the banking family of the Medici s, who were not originally of noble lineage, to
display their magnificence in the public sphere. The commissioning also allowed them a participation
in the contribution expected by Florentines to the civil pride of the city itself. The Medici family had
to straddle a fine line in their patronage. Florence was a long standing republican society, and the
Medici s patronage had to equally reflect their civic and religious duties as well as their own personal
interests. Lorenzo began his political and artistic education early, understanding the importance and
fragility of his family s dynasty.
As a youth, Lorenzo served upon a number of artistic and civil committees informing his taste as a
patron. His servitude upon these councils allowed him also early direct influence within Florence that
he would continue.

The Correlation Between Television Advertising And Obesity
INTRODUCTION
The increased prevalence of child obesity has served as momentum for research to determine the
nature, dimensions and significance of the relationship between Television advertising and obesity.
This issue has raised major debates among policy makers, academicians, the public and even
marketers themselves. The most commonly used measure of obesity is the Body Mass Index (BMI)
and it is calculated by dividing the weight by the square of individual s height. The Hasting s review
(2003) states that a majority of children s food promotion is conveyed by television advertising, with
the majority of such promotions focusing on sugar laden breakfast cereals, confectionary, soft drinks
and savory snacks. According to the Centers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
More recently, Caroli et al. (2004) offered supporting evidence that exposure to diverse media content
which includes food advertising was of great influence on children s eating habits. Henderson and
Kelly (2005), established children s frequent exposure to TV snack and enticing fast food advertising
as very are important factors in that contribute to them developing unhealthy eating habits that could
result in obesity. Concern about food advertising directed toward children, estimated to be more than
$1.6 billion per year annually (FTC 2008), has grown, along with the incidence of childhood obesity,
which has tripled in the past three decades (Harris et al. 2009).
The relationship between advertising and obesity is even yet the more strengthened by theories like
the classic externality theory of obesity which postulates that the obese are more influenced by
external stimuli than are the lean (Schacter, 1971). It can be assumed that the predominant advertising
techniques aimed at children are inhibitory in nature on purpose such that children are less willing to
critically evaluate specific advertisements.
LITERATURE REVIEW According to the American Association of Paediatrics (AAP), the average
child in the United States watches about four hours of television daily. If time spent in front of the
television playing video games or watching DVDs is added, the total time spent sitting in front of the
TV screen increases (AAP

The Influence Of Technique
Floyd Mayweather, Miguel Cotto, Austin Trout, Erislandy Lara, Shane Mosley, Amir Khan, and Julio
Cesar Chavez Jr are names that would appear on the resume of a hall of fame veteran on his way to
retirement, yet this resume belongs to a twenty seven year old with years left in the gas tank. Canelo
Alvarez isn t a perfect fighter; he lost against Floyd Mayweather, and people have criticized some of
his recent fights. Nevertheless, he deserves a lot more credit from the boxing community than he s
getting now.

In 2014, he decided to take on Erislandy Lara against his team s wishes and common sense. Lara was
a skilled boxer that was feared by most people in the junior middleweight division, but Alvarez
decided to take him on to prove he wasn t afraid to take a step up in competition.
As you all know, that fight didn t help Alvarez in the eyes of the public. He beat Lara in a close fight,
but that wasn t enough for the boxing community. Instead of being applauded for winning a close fight
with someone he could ve easily avoided, the dominant storyline was that Lara was robbed. Yes, there
was the ridiculous 117 111 score, but the fight was close enough for Alvarez to get the nod.
Nevertheless, the boxing community couldn t come to grips with the fact that a close fight doesn t
equal a robbery, so Alvarez didn t get the amount of praise Golovkin got in his recent close fight with
Daniel Jacobs.
The weirdest part of all of this is how the networks and media treat Canelo Alvarez. Alvarez is one of
the biggest pay per view stars in boxing. His fight with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. drew over 1 million
paper view buys, which is almost unheard of outside of Mayweather and Pacquiao. With numbers like
that, you would think it would be in the best interest of boxing to push Canelo Alvarez as the next all

The book I Survived the Bombing of Pearl Harbor was written by Lauren Tarshis . This book; like
most historical fiction books; mixed actual events with fictional characters. I overall liked this book
but was a bit disappointed when they mainly focused on characters rather than real events. The
summary of the book is about a boy named Danny who lived with his Ma in New York City, but that
all changed when Finn; a friend of Danny; fell off a balcony and got hurt. Danny s Ma then decided to
move to Hawaii because she thought it was much safer there; Danny really wanted to get back to New
York and Finn; he even thought about stowing away on a ship that traveled between Hawaii and
California. Then he met a boy named Aki; and later his mother

Comparing Science and Religion in Frankenstein, Dr....
The Struggle Between Science and Religion in Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Metropolis
From Frankenstein to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to Metropolis, the mad scientist is one of the modern
world s most instantly recognizable and entertaining cultural icons. Popular culture s fascination with
demented doctors, crazed clinicians, and technologically fanatical fiends have dominated the major
motifs of popular literature and film for most of the 20th century and this fascination will continue
into the 21st century. An archetypal outcast, the mad scientist represents all that modern culture holds
mysterious and fascinating, intriguing and sinful, and, to say the least, romantic. Popular culture has

The most merciful thing in the world...is the inability of the human mind to correlate all [of] its
contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not
meant that we voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us
little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas
of reality...that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and
safety of a new dark age.(Lovecraft)

Purpose of the meniscus
The meniscus acts as a shock absorber for the knee by spreading compression forces from the femur
over a wider area on the tibia. The medial meniscus bears up to 50% of the load applied to the medial
(inside) compartment of the knee. The lateral meniscus absorbs up to 80% of the load on the lateral
(outside) compartment of the knee. During the various phases of the walking cycle, forces shift from
one meniscus to the other, and forces on the knee can increase to 2 4 times body weight. While
running, these forces on the knee increase up to to 6 8 times body weight. There are even higher forces

Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave
energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. In many cases, MRI gives different
information about structures in the body than can be seen with an X ray, ultrasound, or computed

Bones and joints. MRI can check for problems of the bones and joints, such as arthritis, problems with
the temporomandibular joint, bone marrow problems, bone tumours, cartilage problems, torn
ligaments or tendons, or infection. MRI may also be used to tell if a bone is broken when X ray results
are not clear. MRI is done more commonly than other tests to check for some bone and joint

The Court For Hear Death Penalty Cases
Court cases are heard on the first Monday of October all the way to late June or early July unless
otherwise decided by the court. In any court system, state or federal, certain requirements must be met
before a case can be brought before a court. (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes 274) Two of which are
jurisdiction; the authority of the court to hear and decide a case, and standing to sue; an actual reason
to bring to court. Surprisingly the Supreme Court cases have no right of appeal. The court tends to
choose which cases it will decide and there never really is a full explanation on why one was chosen
over another.
In the article, Supreme Court to Hear Death Penalty Cases, in The New York Times; Adam Liptak
talks about two different death penalty cases to be heard in October 2016. Case number 15 8049, Buck
v. Stephens, is to be heard over whether or not race should one of the factors associated with future
dangerousness. Buck, an African American male, was convicted for killing his former girlfriend and
her friend, in front of her children. Buck is being sentenced for the death penalty because Texas law
allows that if prosecutors can show that you pose a future danger to society you may be sentenced to
death. Dr. Walter Quijanos testimony in the trials sentencing phase said It s a sad commentary that
minorities, Hispanics and black people, are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. (Liptak,
NYT) In the petition for the Supreme Court to review, Bucks new lawyer said

The three overlapping types of conflicts which will dictate future wars, challenge government agencies, and force all branches of the Armed Forces to restructure their formations are Wars of Silicon, Iron, and Shadow. The four U.S. Services will need to rebalance, be adaptive, implement strategic agility, and reprioritize their programs to meet specific security issues posed by these conflicts. Diverse adversaries will employ traditional, unconventional, and hybrid strategies to threaten U.S. National Security. Joint Forces by 2025 will need to be leaner, technologically superior, and expeditionary to support Combatant Commanders so; they can win in full spectrum operations and defend U.S. national interests at home and overseas. • 9. Analysis Of The Book Young Goodman Brown And The... Nathaniel Hawthorne and Washington Irving are two of the most prolific and successful writers of their era. Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown is a story about a man, Goodman Brown who happens to set out on a trip for an evil purpose. On the way he meets a man who offers him his staff, saying that it might help him walk faster, but Goodman Brown refuses and wishes to return back to his village for the sake of his wife, Faith. On the other hand, Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker is about an individual who lets his greed and selfishness take charge of him. Tom Walker, a greedy man, attempts to make a deal with a devil. Tom seeks wealth and in return the devil asks for his soul. In both stories, the authors express their feelings and views about staying away from indulgence and sin. In spite of all the difference among Hawthorne s, Young Goodman Brown and Irving s, The Devil and Tom Walker, they share salient similarities such as setting, symbolism, and author s purpose. To begin with, Hawthorne and Irving portray a similar use of setting in their works of literature. Both authors illustrate a gloomy setting which takes place in remote areas of Massachusetts around the same period of time. For instance, The Devil and Tom Walker takes place in a historical area settled by Quakers and Puritans where religion and virtue is widespread among the people. When I was younger, the Calgary Flames never made the Stanley Cup Playoffs, that was something very frustrating for all Flames fans. This all changed when Sean Monahan was drafted in 2013 and turned the franchise around. Sean was a resilient child that showed throughout his hockey career. Sean made the Calgary Flames a true playoff contender by bringing more offensive power to them than they ve ever seen. This truly changed the Calgary Flames and how the city of Calgary and fans from all around view hockey and many kids are inspired to be as good as Sean. Sean ... He has made the playoffs twice out of four seasons with the Flames. In his second playoff run, he got 4 goals second to Sidney Crosby s winger, Jake Guentzel. He also got his 100th goal this year, being the youngest flame to achieve it and the 6th youngest NHLer right under very acclaimed players like Kane and Stamkos. He was recognized as a upcoming tremendous hockey player and was invited to play in the 2011 17U hockey challenge and was a key role in Team Toronto winning. By this point in time, Sean was well known across the National Hockey League as a centreman who knew how to score, set up plays, and run a great powerplay line effortlessly. Even though Monahan has been in the NHL for 4 years he continues to have the same power and speed he originally came with. The fan base for the Flames has grown tremendously; especially with kids since Sean was drafted. Everytime I go to Calgary for a hockey game, I see more Monahan jerseys than anyone else because he is what every kid wants to become, a fast hockey player who scores; lots. The game has changed since 2013, and it s all because of Sean Monahan. Although there are many players who score as often, if not more often than Sean, what sets him apart is his drive, intelligence, speed and agility. • 12. The Theme Of Memories In Toni Morrison s Beloved In the novel Beloved by Toni Morrison, memories are seen as powerful instruments which haunt the characters throughout the narrative. During the institution of slavery, slaves were dehumanised and treated subordinately. This novel asserts the fact that slaves were actually human beings, by exploring the ways that they had to endure the disturbing and traumatic memories of it, and still find ways to live. In the article Four Hundred Years of Silence: Myth, History and Motherhood in Toni Morrison s Beloved , Sally Keenan explores the need to remember and to tell and the desire to forget, memories with an inexhaustible and monstrous power to erupt and overwhelm the mind but which must somehow be laid aside if life is to continue (48). By this Keenan means that the novel accentuates the difficulty that the characters face in order to forget their painful memories, which at the same time cannot be disremembered. The urge to forget is complicated as it becomes laden with the feelings of pain, guilt, shame and fear, which eventually leads to an assumption that the traumatic memories cannot be forgotten. • 13. Marx s Theory Of Total Social Capital Marx begins his analysis of capital accumulation and growth with the demarcation of capital into its two constituent parts: constant and variable capital. The former pertains to the means of production utilized (as determined by its mass), whereas the latter term applies to human labour power inputs of production (and is accounted for by the aggregation of wages). The organic composition of capital was then conceived to establish the ratio of constant (value composition) to variable (technical composition) capital incorporated in production. In order to extrapolate the allocation capital of a single firm across the entire economy, Marx devised the concept of total social capital. This term refers to the average arrangements of capital in each sector of the economy, averaged across all spheres of the economy. Capital inherently generates an annual surplus, which in turn influences the level of variable capital employed. The surplus produced by capital is divided into revenue for the capitalist or reinvested in production. This reallocation of surplus ultimately determines the degree of accumulation (if more capital is reinvested, and less kept as revenue for consumption, then accumulation will be higher). It also has an effect on wages and the demand and supply of labour (i.e. components of variable capital). Supply increases absolutely, as does the demand for labour (if the variable capital needed for the operation of constant capital is unaffected) and wages will grow if ... And throughout the film, a very prominent role is played by the setting. The Coen brothers make sure that no one misses where the story takes place small town upper Midwest in the middle of a frigid winter. The film makes extensive use of the frozen landscape, the characterization of rural Midwesterners, and realistic depiction of the events of the story in order to emphasize these themes. This is a powerful image that clearly shows the crushed Jerry and his increasing feeling of solitude. Another use of the setting comes in the form of the characterization. A big contributor to the story and feel of the film is the characterization of the characters in the film. Again, this Midwestern setting becomes obvious when the viewer hears the strong upper Midwest accents used by all the residents of rural Minnesota. Midwesterners have a reputation for being exceedingly friendly and moral, and that becomes prominent in this film where a number of less than moral actions are portrayed. Fargo therefore portrays two main types of characters: moral and amoral. Morality is personified by Marge Gunderson, the pregnant police chief on the trail of the criminals. She portrays the stereotypical nice attitude in nearly all of her encounters and it takes quite a lot for her to break this demeanor. Even though she may be investigating the murder scene or interviewing suspects in the case, she maintains this even tempered friendly attitude. This optimistic and positive outlook hides her very sharp mind for crime, and contrasts greatly with the sinister things that are taking place around her. This emphasizes the nature of the events that have come to pass. Throughout the movie, the disparity between the demeanor of the characters and surrounding events creates a subtle humor really a second viewing of the movie to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is pretty simple why companies do choose to go public. Companies go public usually to have access to more money (Martin, 2017). Companies have two ways they can increase funding. They can sell bonds or sell shares. Although when it comes to selling bonds a company has to remember that they still have to pay interest on the money they have borrowed and pay it all back (Martin, 2017). This is why the majority of companies chose to raise the money by selling shares instead. Companies want more money for new investments, new innovations, and to be able to build up their savings too. Plus, companies need more money for when they start new projects. When a company goes public it is not always positive. One disadvantage of going public is the owner or owners of a company cannot manage the company like it is his or her private company anymore. The business must make sure and acknowledge that they are responsible to shareholders and will need to make sure that they have quarterly calls and explain their business actions and why they made the choices they did. The Resilience of Nature The outcome of engaging in war brings about inevitable consequences and atrocities that ultimately become part of humanities history. With the battles of war leaving such destruction in its wake one would think that there would remain visible and noticeable scars upon the landscape. However, nature and time have the ability to erase all the evidence and devastation that war can leave behind. The many non human life forms that exist in nature are unaware and undeterred from their purpose and routine within the environment. Even if humans destroy themselves to the point of non existence nature will continue to flourish. Although Sara Teasdale and Carl Sandberg have each chosen the topic of war within their poems and both have used nature to convey their opinions about humanity; the mechanics used to write each poem are different. Each poet chooses the theme of nature s generative abilities to portray man s disillusion about what war truly has a lasting effect on. Each author s poem reads as a metaphorical opinion about war and the existence of humans within the natural environment; as well as the physical history of war that is left behind. • 27. Classical Iconography Within The Commissions Of Lorenzo De... The Important Incorporation of Classical Iconography Within the Commissions of Lorenzo de Medici and Pope Julius II Julius II and Lorenzo de Medici arguably had not so dissimilar goals in their patronage. Patronage was a tool for exerting political power, exemplifying personal magnificence, and invoking a sense of civic duty. These patrons attempted to display different pieces of these attributes in different ways. Lorenzo de Medici, born into arguably the most prestigious family in Florence, grew up familiar with the importance of the commissioning of artworks and public works projects. The commissioning of these works allowed the banking family of the Medici s, who were not originally of noble lineage, to display their magnificence in the public sphere. The commissioning also allowed them a participation in the contribution expected by Florentines to the civil pride of the city itself. The Medici family had to straddle a fine line in their patronage. Florence was a long standing republican society, and the Medici s patronage had to equally reflect their civic and religious duties as well as their own personal interests. Lorenzo began his political and artistic education early, understanding the importance and fragility of his family s dynasty. • 33. Comparing Science and Religion in Frankenstein, Dr.... The Struggle Between Science and Religion in Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, and Metropolis From Frankenstein to Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde to Metropolis, the mad scientist is one of the modern world s most instantly recognizable and entertaining cultural icons. Popular culture s fascination with demented doctors, crazed clinicians, and technologically fanatical fiends have dominated the major motifs of popular literature and film for most of the 20th century and this fascination will continue into the 21st century. An archetypal outcast, the mad scientist represents all that modern culture holds mysterious and fascinating, intriguing and sinful, and, to say the least, romantic. Popular culture has completely desensitized the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All are examples of scientists who, though labeled as mad, are curious seekers of information who hope to increase knowledge and understanding, or who are working under the guise of the salvation of a few (when really, mad scientists are really working for no one but themselves) but eventually becomes the damnation of all. This Lovecraftian theme is seemingly reminiscent of all mad science: The most merciful thing in the world...is the inability of the human mind to correlate all [of] its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity, and it was not meant that we voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality...that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the light into the peace and safety of a new dark age.(Lovecraft) In the 19th century, the Romantic rebellion against scientific rationalism reintegrating notions of science with the mystery and ... • 34. Meniscus Research Paper Purpose of the meniscus The meniscus acts as a shock absorber for the knee by spreading compression forces from the femur over a wider area on the tibia. The medial meniscus bears up to 50% of the load applied to the medial (inside) compartment of the knee. The lateral meniscus absorbs up to 80% of the load on the lateral (outside) compartment of the knee. During the various phases of the walking cycle, forces shift from one meniscus to the other, and forces on the knee can increase to 2 4 times body weight. While running, these forces on the knee increase up to to 6 8 times body weight. There are even higher forces when landing from a jump. The important role of the meniscus in force transmission can be seen when the menisci are removed. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... McMurray (Figure 1) and Apley tests (Figure 2) are often positive, although these are specific but not sensitive specificity being 57 98% and 80 99%, and sensitivity being 10 66% and 16 58% respectively.2,9 The most useful clinical test for meniscal injury is the Thessaly test, which is demonstrated in Figure 3. Although rarely taught and poorly utilised, recent validation demonstrated a sensitivity of 90%, and specificity of 98% in detecting meniscal injury. What is MRI? Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. In many cases, MRI gives different information about structures in the body than can be seen with an X ray, ultrasound, or computed tomography (CT) scan. MRI also may show problems that cannot be seen with other imaging methods. Bones and joints. MRI can check for problems of the bones and joints, such as arthritis, problems with the temporomandibular joint, bone marrow problems, bone tumours, cartilage problems, torn ligaments or tendons, or infection. MRI may also be used to tell if a bone is broken when X ray results are not clear. MRI is done more commonly than other tests to check for some bone and joint ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 35. The Court For Hear Death Penalty Cases Court cases are heard on the first Monday of October all the way to late June or early July unless otherwise decided by the court. In any court system, state or federal, certain requirements must be met before a case can be brought before a court. (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes 274) Two of which are jurisdiction; the authority of the court to hear and decide a case, and standing to sue; an actual reason to bring to court. Surprisingly the Supreme Court cases have no right of appeal. The court tends to choose which cases it will decide and there never really is a full explanation on why one was chosen over another. In the article, Supreme Court to Hear Death Penalty Cases, in The New York Times; Adam Liptak talks about two different death penalty cases to be heard in October 2016. Case number 15 8049, Buck v. Stephens, is to be heard over whether or not race should one of the factors associated with future dangerousness. Buck, an African American male, was convicted for killing his former girlfriend and her friend, in front of her children. Buck is being sentenced for the death penalty because Texas law allows that if prosecutors can show that you pose a future danger to society you may be sentenced to death. Dr. Walter Quijanos testimony in the trials sentencing phase said It s a sad commentary that minorities, Hispanics and black people, are overrepresented in the criminal justice system. (Liptak, NYT) In the petition for the Supreme Court to review, Bucks new lawyer said ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
