The world today could be compared to a jigsaw for children in an early years setting. For them
jigsaws can be challenging, they may not know yet what it stands for, why it must be completed or
how to tackle it or even where to start. When I break the analogy down, the pieces could represent
the child s rights, and the selection of jigsaws supplied could stand for the diversity of children, in
the same way the practitioner could symbolise the principles of all the legislations that govern the
progression of the child. In many ways the simple jigsaw could be the meaningful world around

In my setting I display respect for each individual, namely with the children I seek to understand
before being understood. It is incredibly important to gather all the background information about
the children in the setting as well as the current relevant information to incorporate this knowledge
before planning for the individual needs of each child i.e. A child with poor language abilities may
need different types of communication tactics to ensure inclusive learning such as visual
stimulation in the form of demonstrations, videos, pictures or hand gestures.
I value differences by using inclusive practice which involves a lot of detailed planning like
identifying appropriate support during play and encouraging a child to participate as part of a
group in an activity. By making sure I avoid making assumptions I give every child the same
opportunities to gauge their individual development stage and needs as opposed to presuming all
children of a certain age and physicality must be capable i.e. If a child has only one arm or is
native to a different country and therefore does not speak English, they should still be encouraged
to take part in activities provided all necessary planning is in place to suit their unique individual
needs, also avoiding isolating them from the other children.

Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media, have been
quick to blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video games causes violent
behavior and makes people anti social. Some have even argued video games cause racism,
sexism, and cause health problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad
are inconsistent and sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor
video games, even though they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and
because they are an art form they are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment.
Violent video games do not cause real world violencelike any art form they only mirror the
violence of the real world, and it is contradictory to think that they cause actual violence. Video
games have even been shown to be healthy, they relieve stress and increase hand eye coordination,
and are a positive, non violent form of relieving aggression in a way that does not cause physical
harm to others.
The ESRB video game rating system which was introduced in the nineteen nineties and it is not
legally binding and yet most retailers treat video games as if they were alcohol and tobacco
corrupting the youth. Unlike tobacco and alcohol they do not put toxic chemicals into a person s
body unlike any sort of drug legal or otherwise. While a person can die from lack of physical
activity video games alone cannot kill someone, since video

Richard Branson s Leadership Style
Richard Branson is the founder of the conglomerate Virgin Group. He allowed Virgin to explode
after the beginnings. He started new ventures every second and incorporated almost every industry
conceivable into his company. His net worth is 5.2 Billion. Today, the Virgin brand is ranked
second among brands that have the greatest impact on consumer s lives. Virgin Groupincludes more
than 400 companies worldwide and reaps over 24 Billion in annual revenue. It is involved in almost
every industry imaginable including planes, trains, finance, soft drinks, music, mobile phones,

No single venture is entered into blindly and the rewards are always measured out in relation to
potential risks.
4.Branding: Many people know the Virgin brand better than the names of the individual companies
within the group. This is the main reason Branson creates marketing hype by implementing
extremely provocative campaigns and it has worked to give the Virgin name immense recognition
power around the world.
5.Diversifying the company: Since Virgin sticks its hands into so many industries across the board,
it has a good chance of surviving even if the economy dips. For example, after the events of 9/11,
airline business suffered. However, the other ventures that Virgin stood for kept the company afloat.
6.Empowering talent: Virgin promotes almost entirely from within, so Branson takes this element
seriously. He gives his current employees seniority over outsiders and values their ideas and
experience at Virgin in working with new ventures. This is why he tends to put his current
employees on new projects.
7.Sense of community: Virgin Group entails hundreds of companies, but their relation is viewed as
a family and not a hierarchy. Virgin The company philosophy is that all of Virgin is a community
with a shared culture and value system.

Mark Twain s A True Story Essay
A True Story and How it Addresses the Rhetoric of Race
As one of the great American authors, Mark Twain is recognized for his unique contributions as a
writer, one of them being his involvements in the racial debates during the 19th and 20th centuries.
Some of his works such as an excerpt from his Autobiography, stories from The Celebrated Jumping
Frog from Calavaras County , Buck Fanshawe s funeral and A True Story have been particularly
included in the selections of The Heath Anthology of American Literature to illustrate the nature of
The American Society and its issue with race during the 19th and 20th centuries (Lauter 408). In A
True Story , Mark Twain writes about the accounts of an elderly African Americanwoman as told
to him by an ex slave that had previously worked at his sister in law s plantation. A True Story is
more than a fascinating tale of an old black woman with a nature for being jovial; it shows Twain s
unique way of addressing racial legacies of the Civil War and Reconstruction through literature.
Twain s short story which is titled in full as A True Story, Repeated Word for Word as I heard it is
a tale about Aunt Rachel, an African American woman who recalls her ordeals of hardship and
torment while leading a life of slavery. The story begins as Aunt Rachel is seated on the front
porch with the children under her care. To the children, Aunt Rachel cuts across as being very
happy and without troubles and so one child proceeds to ask her why

Oliver Cromwell Research Paper
Oliver Cromwell, born April 25, 1599. He was the Lord Protector for England, Ireland and
Scotland, also being a military and political leader in earlier stages for England. Oliver was one of
ten children. Having seven sisters and two brothers, Oliver was the only son to survive past infancy.
Oliver, along with his other siblings were all born in Huntingdon, Huntingdonshire, England. While
in a local school as a young boy it was said that he was more or so drawn to being a Puritan by
most of his teachers and professors. He often went against others and their religious beliefs because
he was such a strong willed Puritan. In sixteen sixteen Cromwell entered into Sidney Sussex

Elizabeth Cromwell, James Cromwell, Mary Cromwell, and the youngest being Frances
Cromwell. In the year of 1631 he sold most of his land in Huntingdonshire and moved to a place
in St. Ives in Cambridgeshire. As he did this it was said to be a major halt and downgrade in
society. He later sent his cousin a letter talking of his firm beliefs in puritism, also saying that all
of the Catholic practices in church needed to stop because these people were living in sin. By
the end of the 1630s Cromwell had become a fully committed Puritan. So on Oliver s first term in

The Movie No Country For Old Men
The audience of new movies are tired of the same genre over and over. The movie No Country
for Old Men is a combination of crime, drama and thriller. The movie takes place in the 1980s. A
hunter named Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon a drug deal that has gone wrong, and attempts to take
the cash left behind. As he takes the cash, he quickly noticed he is being followed by someone
recovering the cash. Between the sound, cast, setting, and props, the details put into movie make it
a thriller like no other. After watching it, No Country for Old Menwill be a movie worth watching
again and again. Much detail was put into the audio of the movie. Throughout the movie, the
movie producers used little to no background music. Because of this, the sound effects were very
noticeable and intensified the movie. A scene in the beginning of the movie had a dog chasing
Llewelyn. In the beginning of the chase, the dog was quiet because of the amount of distance. But
as the dog closed the distance, the sound of the paws hitting the desert ground get louder. When
Llewelyn and the dog hit the river, the sound of them swimming helps intensify the scene. As they
reach land, the dog jumps onto Llewelyn, and he fires his gun. Right before he fires his gun and
kills the dog, you can hear the dog breathing heavily. This is one prime example how the sound can
improve a thriller movie.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Boston Massacre Causes
What lead up to The Boston Massacre? Like many disputes in history this was caused by two
things, money and honor. In the 1760 s the British Parliament introduced a series of new taxes on
the colonies to offset the cost of the Seven Year War that had left them with crippling debt and to
cover the expense of the British Soldiers that were stationed in the U.S. With each new series of
taxes that were passed tensions among the colonists and the British heightened. In 1765 the British
Parliament issued The Stamp Act which was to be the first internal tax imposed on the colonists.
This meant that just about anything made from paper was subjected to being taxed such as legal
documents, newspapers, almanacs, playing cards and dice each of

Essay on Causes of the 1918 Influenza Pandemic
It killed more people in twenty four weeks than AIDS has killed in twenty four years, more in a
year than the Black Death killed in a century. John Barry
Many historians call the Great Influenza Pandemic of 1918 the deadliest disease outbreak of all
time. As many as 100 million people were killed as a direct result of this disease (Taubenberger
1). The Great Pandemic affected everyone, the prosperous and the poor, developed and
underdeveloped nations. Entire villages in Alaska were wiped out because of the viral disease
(Public Health Service). The Influenza Pandemic of 1918 was caused by World War One, a high
volume of immigration, and poor sanitary conditions.

Medical care was as scarce as clean water. Basic medical care was rudimentary. Describing the
situations as incredibly unhygienic would be an understatement. War fatalities were the
immediate effects of the Great War and the incredible spread of a disease was a later one. As a
matter of fact, more people died from the Great Influenza Pandemic than from World War One
(Tauenberger1). After World War One, Europe and Asia were in chaos. Many European people
were without a home, a job and way of life. Desperate, hundreds of thousands immigrated to
more stable and industrialized nations such as the United States of America. From 1915 to 1919,
an average of over two hundred thirty four thousand immigrants per year came to the United
States of America (Cohn 2). A large number of these immigrants came from Europe and were
processed at Ellis Island in New York City. Forty percent of all Americans can trace their heritage
to Ellis Island (United States Department of the Interior). Ellis Island was so overcrowded with
people, the government hurriedly built dormitories, kitchens, and hospitals (United States
Department of the Interior). When these people came, they arrived in over crowded boats from
unclean places. Due to widespread disease in the boats, there were many burials at sea. One of
these burials quite ironically, was my great uncle who was four years old. Upon arrival, from Italy,
my great aunt was buried. When the immigrants arrived, government

Gaius Marius a Military Leader
Gaius Marius was born into a poor family. He began his political career serving in the military is
Spain. According to Livy, he was elected Tribune of the People in 119. His general at the time
was very impressed with him and helped he achieve this status. He then served under Metellus
in the war against Jugurtha, but Metellus was not a successful leader and failed. When Marius
returned back to Rome ran for consul and won the election. He then broke his first law, and
persuaded the comitia tribute to give him control of the forces in Africa, which only the senate
could do at the time, but he gained the power anyway. He then went to break more rules, by
offering the poor a job as a solider, giving them an opportunity to make money, and later gaining
their alliance. The war he so badly wanted to lead, was won, but it was actually won by Sulla and
not Marius. Sulla was a young questor at the time and only starting his political career. Rome was
then attacked in the North. Because of Marius success in geurilla warfare with Jugurtha, Rome
trusted him to take care of the fighting in the north, and Marius was elected a 2nd time to consul.
Which is again, illegal. After Rome was safe in the North, Marius wanted to repay his army and he
established laws that would secure his army land after they has served their time in the army. To do
so, he aligned himself with the Tribune of the People, Saturnius. This alliance would gain him a

Booker T Washington And W. E. B Dubois Summary
1. Describe the intellectual debate between Booker T. Washington and W.E.B. Du Bois about
improving conditions for African Americans, and explain whose opinion you would support and
why. Why not the other argument?
Booker T Washington and W.E.B Dubois are two African American leaders who took a different
look at discrimination and segregation experienced by African Americans. Booker T Washington
wanted to take an approach to being discriminated against African Americans are going to have to
learn how to put up with this. Washington took what he considered to be a more practical approach
to these problems he emphasized discrimination and segregation for the time being. He also said
that if African Americans would like to make more money than they need to do things that people
need or want. Basically, he said African Americanpeople need to be or learn skilled trades to earn
more money and improve their lives. Booker T Washington didn t want anybody else he just
wanted African American people to put up with discrimination. He wanted African Americans
to cope with this. Booker T Washington also didn t challenge social segregation. He did not
want to be a part of any violence so that s why he didn t challenge it because he knows that if he
would have challenged the racist people then he probably would have got killed. He wanted black

Clarity In The Pedestrian, And Lord Of The
Solitude gives birth to the original in us, to beauty unfamiliar and perilous to poetry. But also, it
gives birth to the opposite: to the perverse, the illicit, the absurd. (Death in Venice, 78). Everyone
in today s society is supposed to fit the expectations that has been created, but this individuals to
lose their ingenuity. Although many believe that the best ideas and realizations are conceived
through the sharing of ideas between multiple people, in all actuality, some of the best inventions
were created by single people. These actions can be seen from characters in Anthem, The Odyssey,
The Pedestrian, and Lord of the Flies. Isolation leads to clarity due to the lack of external
influences tainting one s perspective.
Both Simon and Leonard Mead, when solely with their thoughts, are able to foresee the heinous
ways of human nature. For example, Leonard Mead, while on a walk, becomes aware of the
dilemma that faces the people who are unable to interact with others when he sees sudden gray
phantoms seemed to manifest upon inner room walls where a curtain was still undrawn against the
night, or there were whisperings and murmurs where a window in a tomblike building was still

Blood Donation around the World
The average adult has approximately five liters of blood coursing through the vessel and
delivering essential element. Without blood, the human body would stop working. Blood is fluid
of life and health for each individual body. Every single drop of blood contains millions of red
blood cells which functions as transporting oxygen to all parts of the body. If there are scarce, it
will disrupt bloodcirculation of the body gradually. This phenomenon usually arises during severe
blood injury. At this moment, blood transfusion is the best way to overcome this kind of case.
Thanks to an Arabic scholar, Ibn Al Nafis who discovered in 1260 AD on minor circulation of
blood in the body which then lead to idea of blood transfusion. (1) Nevertheless, the blood supply
is still on demand. According to statistics in America Red Cross, more than 41,000 blood
donations are needed every day for variety of purposes. (2) Maintaining blood supply remains
arduous till now. Hence, in order to attract people to donate blood, some arguments are evolved
whether payment or other reward should be done to increase the blood sources.(3) Therefore, the
outcome of this argument is a new type of blood donation is produced which known as paid blood
donation. This kind of donor contradicts to volunteer blood donor. Paid blood donor defines as a
person who receives incentives for their contribution of blood. Jay Pennington voices out that

Barbie Doll Analysis
Not Like a Barbie The poem Barbie Doll written by Marge Piercy is about the pressure of fitting
in society. We look at a healthy girl that had a normal childhood. She grew up playing with toys
according to her gender and was considered smart at school. This girl had an endless number of
qualities for having a wonderful future. Everything for her lost value when in her adolescence a
classmate made her feel not beautiful because she did not look like a Barbie doll. There was a
time in my life when I experienced similar situations that connect me with the poem. There s a line
that says, you have a great big nose and fat legs (6) takes me back to my puberty. That is the time
when our body undergoes huge changes and sometimes... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In this part of the poem the speaker is not saying that she mutilated herself. The real meaning is
that she went into surgery trying to fix her nose and legs and make them look small like a
Barbie doll. Clearly, we have to evaluate to what degree we fit in or to what degree we must
reject the negative messages society send us. No one should go to the operating room because
there are some beauty standards that we must meet. In my case, I do not have plastic surgery
because I consider that we do not need them. If we do decide to have plastic surgery, we must be
careful. Nowadays, the number of people undertaking surgery is increasing, and men also
undergo surgery. I think that those procedures are very delicate, and people risk their lives in the
operating room. Sometimes people survive, but they do not like the way they look. Some
doctors are very demanding because they are performing these surgeries illegally in their houses
or the patient s homes at affordable prices. They also do not care about their patients and are not
using the appropriate equipment, and sometimes there are cases of people being deformed or
dead. I think that those who want plastic surgery might undertake it only with the qualified
personal. We must love our body and if we plan to change some part of it should be to raise our

And, because of his relationship with Brienne, we know that, deep down, under the gold cloak
and the shiny hair and attempted murder of a child. All he ever wanted to be was a knight like
Ser Arthur Dayne, the Sword of the He s really just a noble guy whose been lead astray.
And whose fault is that?
David Beniodd and D.B. Weiss say it s Cersei s fault. Not explicitly. At least, not yet. But that s
why the sex scene in the Sept became the rape scene in the sept. That s why, despite hundreds of
pages of painstaking character development that make it entirely illogical for that to happen, they
wrote it that way for television.
Because on the King s Road with Brienne, Jaime was beginning to get in touch with the boy
knight still inside himself, the one who still believed in the words he said. Her honor made him
want to be more honorable too. But now he s back in King s Landing, outside of Brienne s sphere
of good influence and back in Cersei s corrupting one. Instead of welcoming Jaime home with open
legs, D D s Cersei is standoffish and unresponsive.
He stands in the previous episode, pathetically pleading for a modicum of her affection, but she
spurns him, telling him he s too late, that things have changed. D D s Cersei cares not a whit for
Jaime, though he has devoted his whole life to her, has allowed her to mold him into the man who
stands before her. And what better way to show how corrupting she is, than to have that love turned
against her?

Polish Nationalism in Chopin s Works

Taking a Look at Migraines
Migraines
Migraines, the head pounding agony that is experienced by millions worldwide. They are severe,
reoccurring headaches which can last as long as 72 hours. Many who suffer from migraines also
experience nausea and sensitivity to noise, light and smell.
THE HISTORY
Migraines aren t recent, in fact that have been around since as early as 7,000 BC, but
unfortunately valid treatment was not around back then. Trepenation is the earliest form of
treatment available for migraines, in which one purposefully drilled multiple holes into the head
of the sufferer in order to remove the evil spirits from one s head and was believed to be effective
whether that point of view was developed from being consistently closed minded or the surviving
patients had experienced the absolute pinnacle of the Placebo effect . The first effective form of
treatment for migraines was only developed multiple thousand years later in 1868, in which a
substance created from a fungus known as ergot was used. It continued to be used and developed
until eventually during the late 20th century when more effective methods were created and
confirmed.
SYMPTOMS
Unfortunately migraines are not as simple as the occasional headache, but generally occur in phases
which are as follows.
The Prodrome phase: The phase that generally occurs first, it is majority mood related but includes
a few physical characteristics. In this phase, one finds themselves in a state of depression, often

The Influence Of The Jeanne Clery Act
Introduction
In 1986, Jeanne Clery was 19 years old living on the campus of Lehigh University. Clery was
tortured, raped, and murdered in her dormitory. Both she and her parents thought she was safe,
unbeknownst to them, Lehigh University had a high statistic for violent crimes. People believed
the history of crime would be a known fact about the university, however, there were no standards
for reporting of campus crime events. After the murder of their daughter, Connie and Howard
Clery took to Capitol Hill to lobby for change. This paper will discuss the background of the
Jeanne Clery Act, how the act came to be, the perception of the act and how well it was received,
as well as the impact it had on higher education.

Ten years from the initial groundwork, in 1998, a provision was made that no longer made the

2008, the Higher Education Opportunity Act widened the Clery Act scope. Emergency response

This almost conflicts directly to a majority of Larsson s Millennium Trilogy. In The Girl with the
Dragon Tattoo, there are many signs of corruption from Hans Erik Wennerström s illegal
industries to the Vanger corporation covering up Martin and Gottfried s murders. Larsson
continues this motif as well in The Girl Who Played with Fire. It is the corruption of the
Swedish government and the police that allows Zara to rape and abuse Salander s mother,
allows Zara to stay out of prison for his crimes, and forces Salander to a psychiatric ward. It is
the corruption of the guardianship system for psychiatrics that allows Salander to be raped by
Bjurman and to be held hostage by the law. Furthermore, it is the leaders of society, the prominent
social, economic, and political upper crust of Sweden, that are subject to investigation for sex
slavery by Dag and Mia. It would not be unreasonable to state that corruption exists at every level.
Moreover, this corrupted system is truly the creator behind all of Salander s psychiatric problems. If
the Swedish system was free of corruption, as suggested in The Ten Commandments, then one could
argue that Salander s mental and physical health would drastically

Inflammation results from the movement of white blood cells (neutrophils) into the air spaces

neutrophils and bacteria, fluid fills the air sacs resulting in impaired oxygen carbon dioxide

Functions Of Immune Defense For The Elimination Of Pathogens
Yahya Bello
Chemokine receptor CXCR3 mediates gene transcription
Introduction
The invasion of microorganisms constantly threatened many organisms and it has evolved systems
of immune defense for the elimination of pathogens in the body (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). Innate and
adaptive immunity are two branches that are comprised in the immune system (Shizuo Akira1,
2006). The innate immune system is the first line of the defense against pathogens and it is
mediated by phagocytes, which includes macrophages and dendritic cells (DC). Adaptive immunity
involved in the elimination of pathogens in the late phase of infection as well as the generation of
immunological memory (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). This type of immunity is characterized by
specificity and develops by clonal selection from a vast range of lymphocytes bearing antigen
specific receptors that are produced through a mechanism that is generally known as gene
rearrangement. The innate immune response is not entirely specific, but it was rather able to
discriminate between self and a variety of pathogens (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). The innate immune
system identifies microorganisms through a limited number of germline encoded pattern
recognition receptors (PRRs). This is large varieties of rearranged receptors utilized by the adaptive
system. PRRs identify microbial components known as pathogen associated molecular patterns
(PAMPs) and they are important for the survival of the microorganism and are therefore difficult for

Congestion and traffic pollution has been a major problem in New York City for years. There
have been many laws, tolls, and fines implemented over the past few decades to try and fix the
problem. Yet, congestion still exists. Congestion occurs when there is overcrowding on roadways
that s causes traffic jams. There are several reasons for the severity of this issue. Congestion
causes a lot of delays in the city. It is unlikely that people are on time for anything, even if they

This pollution increases health risks by introducing people to harmful toxins released by cars,
specifically in the asthmatic population. Hence, one can see the problems associated with traffic
congestion and pollution. There are several ways to counteract the problem of traffic congestion
and pollution. Firstly, the most practical solution to New York Citys congestion problem is to
decrease the number of cars on the road. One plausible way would be to promote and offer
alternative methods of transportation such as buses, subways, and taxis. If people used more
public transportation there would be fewer cars on the road, less congestion, and less traffic
pollution. Another alternative would be to increase toll prices. By increasing tolls on bridges
and tunnels, people would be much less inclined to drive to the city and as a result there would
be less traffic congestion and pollution. Gridlock is a major cause of traffic problems in
Manhattan. If we were to implement more severe fines for blocking intersections, people would
not try to beat the light, in effect decreasing overall congestion. A third approach to try and
resolve this issue would be to change some one way streets to two way streets. Doing this would
allow easier access to destinations and would eliminate indirect route taking. As a result, overall
pollution would decrease. These are some of the methods that would be viable in decreasing

The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the...
The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party
At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political
Party. Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the
Conservatives, with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed.
However, it soon became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were
unable to unite as one to make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an
important factor in the growth of Labour and the decline of the Liberals.
It seems that the decline of the Liberals began with several problems that can be traced back to pre
war times. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom
women would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as
the Liberals refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue
was a constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their
evident reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to
resolve the issue proved to be a political embarrassment.
Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw
the most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike
action. Two reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to
the current social and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government
were to blame for this industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to
reverse the Osbourne judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which
was a great embarrassment to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union
used part of the fees to fund the Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were
determined to undermine the Labour

Persuasive Essay On Nonmelanoma Skin Cancer
Did you know that over 5.4 million people in the U.S. each year have a case of nonmelanoma
skin cancer every year and there are new cases of skin cancer. People that use tanning beds are at
a higher risk of skin cancer. Also for the people that use SPF 15 or higher have a twenty four
percent chance of having skin aging. People that are beginners at tanning don t know how long to
expose their body to the sun and don t know what happens to them when they sunburn from
overexposure or using tanning beds. When using a tanning bed there is a higher risk of skin cancer
than tanning out in the sun, but when tanning in the sun people don t know what happens to their
skin when it sunburns like premature skin aging, sun spots, and wrinkles.
Tanning for children can put them at a risk for short term or long term eye damage. The experts
believe that all types of tanning damages the skin and there is no safe way to tan. Tanning can cause
premature skin aging immune system suppression and eventual development of skin cancer. It is
particularly important to prevent sunburns in young children by limiting sun exposure and using
sunscreen or sunblock (Gale). Unprotected skin can be damaged by 15 minutes of sun exposure,
although a sunburn is not apparent until at least 12 hour later. The parent that let their children and
teens have a greater risk for skin cancer and premature skin. Experts now generally believe that all
tanning damages the skin and that no degree of tanning can be considered safe (Gale). 71 percent
of tanning bed companies promote their unlimited tanning packages and will allow teenagers, and
most of the tanning places don t need the parents permission. Parents should stop promoting their
children and teens to tan because parents don t know what it does to the children and teens body.
The parents that promote their children and teens to tan don t tell them how long they should
expose their body. The children and teens that start tanning have no guidance on how long they
need to expose their body and don t know what happens to their body when they start tanning. UV
rays are UV rays no matter how long you get them or how long your under the bulbs. This type of

William Butler Yeats Ageing Analysis
Living
(Three Messages from Sailing)
Who is William Butler Yeats? William Butler Yeats is regarded as one of the finest poets of the
century. Also, his return to the past as one would say has helped him to have a place in the future.
He was born in Dublin, Ireland, and Yeats was educated there and in London as well. The young
man was very immersed into the barren mountains, and in the mythology and the legends of
Ireland. From the Poetry Foundation stated, He belonged to the Protestant, Anglo Irish minority that
had controlled the economic, political, social, and cultural life of Ireland since at least the end of
the 17th century. After having this wonderful background that was full of experience Yeats wrote
some of the most famous ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Next, the second message from Yeats Sailing, is what is really living. The idea is that as soon as
you were born you were dying. Which asks the question of what is really living. Some people
see a soul dragging around a corpse. Your soul wants to get out and be free. From the five life
changing thoughts stated, We have an ego, a personality, a history, preferences, dislikes, beliefs,
opinions, cultural viewpoints, and experiences. These ingredients comprise our person and our
worldly sense of self. But beneath all of these human ingredients lies one which is the
foundation of all of them. Without this ingredient, this avatar would not exist. This ingredient is
the soul. For me really living is doing things that make you happy. Because in life a person is
going to make mistakes and not be perfect but it s how you learn from them and how you make
your life better from the experience you had. From Sailing, Yeats, lines 21 25, Consume my
heart away; sick with desire and fastened to a dying animal. It knows not what it is; and gather
me into the artifice of eternity. All good things must die but it s about how you live and some
may say that right as you are born you are dying. But, if you look in a optimistic or pessimistic
view that s up to you. Lastly, the message from Sailing, Yeats, is being remembered. No matter who

Rodeo Failure
A failure I had was when I was not able to cover my bronc in a rodeo for 8 seconds. This incident
had shown me that no matter how much you train and work for something it will never come
easy. The end goal for anything is always near but getting there may seem impossible at some
points. Previously before my ride i had trained on the mighty bucky for weeks. A machine that is
run by another person while my saddle is on it and I m on it. Even after all this training and
working out, I still wasn t able to accomplish my goal. My initial thoughts were why? I thought I
did everything right and had practiced enough for the end goal. Just to be cut short by a few
seconds. Then as I started to think about it more maybe there are some tasks that

interview had with Heather Smith, a clinical mental health counselor. It will further explore a day

Heather Smith is a licensed clinical mental health counselor in Alexandria Virginia. She specializes
in PTSD, Anxiety, Trauma, Marital and Premarital counseling. In addition to these specialties, she
also treats disorders such as Dissociative Disorders, Impulse Control disorders, and personality
disorders. Ms. Smith also works closely with Women s issues that include coping skills, sexual
abuse, depression, and suicidal ideation. Ms. Smith services a population of clients ranging from
adolescents (14 19), to adults as well.
Heather believes the primary differences that separate a clinical mental health counselor and other
mental health professionals such as: a social worker and psychologist are due to the type of work
they focus on primarily. Although, social workers, and psychologist may counsel clients, the
majority may have more in depth specification of study. Social workers are likely to work in case

Betrayal In Julius Caesar
In the play Julius Caesar there were multiple characters that performed throughout the play.
However, there were only two characters that stood out the most, Brutus and Cassius. The play
starts out in the City of Rome, where a celebration is taking place over the victorious Julius
Caesar who conquered the city of Pompeii. The celebration of this victory begins the feelings of
betrayal by his companions who seem highly jealous of his actions. The Jealous few are the
senators and high status figures among the city of Rome, who are becoming quite jealous of the
Caesar s growing power. Brutus on the other hand, fears that tyrannical rule may come to Rome if
Caesar gains power of the city. The jealousy and fear develops conspirators with Cassius and
Brutus being the two in charge and most important characters of Julius Caesars assassination. The
assassination of Rome s most loved soldier Julius Caesaris greatly mourned over and with Antony s
convincing speech of Caesars loyalty to Rome. The Roman populous and Antony seek revenge for
Caesars murder by hunting down the conspirator s within the city and eventually creating an war

The Pigeon Power House Essay
Before I begin to describe the film, I would like to emphasize that I will tell SeanВґs story formally
in a poetic realist style. Hallucinatory, sleepwalking sequences alternate with harsh reality in a
desolated environment for the sake of telling slices of true life: Emotions, diversity and the
unforeseen.
Now the film.
ItВґs grey and dull. The Pigeon Power House in Dublin is not far away and one could smell the

Compare And Contrast Education Reform
An educational system is a means to develop a workforce, to improve the socioeconomic status of
the poor via social mobility, and to create a shared culture. Given these important roles, educational
systems are targets for social reformers. Joseph Lancaster and Arne Duncan were both education
reformers with strong and influential ideas about what and how students are taught. Lancaster was
a London schoolmaster and eventual leader of the Monitorial educationreform movement in the
early 1800s. Duncan was the US Secretary of Education from 2009 2015, and led an era of active
federal education reform. In comparing and contrasting these two educational reformers from the
past and present, there are more similarities than differences.... Show more content on

Recent United States Secretary of Education Arne Duncan was still trying to accomplish the same
goal. In Lancaster s book Improvements in Education he argues people should invest money into
the education of the poor. Why then so eager in the pursuit of riches? and why not rather pay that
attention to the infant poor, which their wants requires? (Improvements in Education). This line
demonstrates that Lancaster believes people should put money towards the education of the poor
so that they can have a chance to better their place in society. Lancaster tried to lower the cost of
education by developing the monitorial system of education which uses less teachers and so
lowers salary costs. This is similar to Arne Duncan s emphasis on investing more money into
education and in managing costs. At the end of his term, The Washington Post reported his
agency directed $100 billion in stimulus funds to districts small and large that were otherwise
facing severe job cuts in the wake of the 2008 recession. The move preserved an estimated
350,000 teaching jobs. In his speeches, Duncan said that states and institutions of higher education
will need to meet us halfway in doing more to keep college costs down and boost completion .
This statement made by Duncan shows that both he and Lancaster have similar ideas on the cost of
education, they both believe that education was a social investment and that the cost of education
should be lowered so poorer people can

Introduction to Masdar City
Masdar City, set out as an arcology project, a vision of architectural design principles and ecology,
that appears as science fiction due to it s main structure which minimizes individual human
environmental impact.
Built in Abu Dhabi, in the UAE, this project was funded by the government of Abu Dhabi and
designed by the British architectural firm Foster and Partners. The city will also host the
headquarters of the International Renewable Energy Agency, and is designed to be the center of
clean technology companies.
Masdar city is structured uniquely, and designed to be friendly to pedestrians and cyclists.
Although it looks like a cube from a distance, its closely aligned patterned design buildings allow
for airflow in the city which cools in down by 15 to 20 degree Celsius. The city itself relies on solar
energy and other renewable resources.
The initial design of the city banned automobiles, and their solutions for mobility include a public

  • 2. Cache Diploma Level 3 Unit 1 CACHE Diploma Lv311/707067 Unit 1 Assignment The world today could be compared to a jigsaw for children in an early years setting. For them jigsaws can be challenging, they may not know yet what it stands for, why it must be completed or how to tackle it or even where to start. When I break the analogy down, the pieces could represent the child s rights, and the selection of jigsaws supplied could stand for the diversity of children, in the same way the practitioner could symbolise the principles of all the legislations that govern the progression of the child. In many ways the simple jigsaw could be the meaningful world around the child, and as for many children around the world they do not yet know their role as an ... E5 In my setting I display respect for each individual, namely with the children I seek to understand before being understood. It is incredibly important to gather all the background information about the children in the setting as well as the current relevant information to incorporate this knowledge before planning for the individual needs of each child i.e. A child with poor language abilities may need different types of communication tactics to ensure inclusive learning such as visual stimulation in the form of demonstrations, videos, pictures or hand gestures. I value differences by using inclusive practice which involves a lot of detailed planning like identifying appropriate support during play and encouraging a child to participate as part of a group in an activity. By making sure I avoid making assumptions I give every child the same opportunities to gauge their individual development stage and needs as opposed to presuming all children of a certain age and physicality must be capable i.e. If a child has only one arm or is native to a different country and therefore does not speak English, they should still be encouraged to take part in activities provided all necessary planning is in place to suit their unique individual needs, also avoiding isolating them from the other children. • 5. Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games Ever since the nineteen eighties people, usually politicians and the news media, have been quick to blame video games for societal woes, saying violence in video games causes violent behavior and makes people anti social. Some have even argued video games cause racism, sexism, and cause health problems, but most research that points towards video games being bad are inconsistent and sometimes contradictory. And yet people still want to restrict and censor video games, even though they are an art form just like film or paintings or what have you, and because they are an art form they are a form of media and are protected under the first amendment. Violent video games do not cause real world violencelike any art form they only mirror the violence of the real world, and it is contradictory to think that they cause actual violence. Video games have even been shown to be healthy, they relieve stress and increase hand eye coordination, and are a positive, non violent form of relieving aggression in a way that does not cause physical harm to others. The ESRB video game rating system which was introduced in the nineteen nineties and it is not legally binding and yet most retailers treat video games as if they were alcohol and tobacco corrupting the youth. Unlike tobacco and alcohol they do not put toxic chemicals into a person s body unlike any sort of drug legal or otherwise. While a person can die from lack of physical activity video games alone cannot kill someone, since video ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Mark Twain s A True Story Essay A True Story and How it Addresses the Rhetoric of Race As one of the great American authors, Mark Twain is recognized for his unique contributions as a writer, one of them being his involvements in the racial debates during the 19th and 20th centuries. Some of his works such as an excerpt from his Autobiography, stories from The Celebrated Jumping Frog from Calavaras County , Buck Fanshawe s funeral and A True Story have been particularly included in the selections of The Heath Anthology of American Literature to illustrate the nature of The American Society and its issue with race during the 19th and 20th centuries (Lauter 408). In A True Story , Mark Twain writes about the accounts of an elderly African Americanwoman as told to him by an ex slave that had previously worked at his sister in law s plantation. A True Story is more than a fascinating tale of an old black woman with a nature for being jovial; it shows Twain s unique way of addressing racial legacies of the Civil War and Reconstruction through literature. Twain s short story which is titled in full as A True Story, Repeated Word for Word as I heard it is a tale about Aunt Rachel, an African American woman who recalls her ordeals of hardship and torment while leading a life of slavery. The movie takes place in the 1980s. A hunter named Llewelyn Moss stumbles upon a drug deal that has gone wrong, and attempts to take the cash left behind. As he takes the cash, he quickly noticed he is being followed by someone recovering the cash. Between the sound, cast, setting, and props, the details put into movie make it a thriller like no other. After watching it, No Country for Old Menwill be a movie worth watching again and again. Much detail was put into the audio of the movie. Throughout the movie, the movie producers used little to no background music. Because of this, the sound effects were very noticeable and intensified the movie. A scene in the beginning of the movie had a dog chasing Llewelyn. In the beginning of the chase, the dog was quiet because of the amount of distance. But as the dog closed the distance, the sound of the paws hitting the desert ground get louder. When Llewelyn and the dog hit the river, the sound of them swimming helps intensify the scene. War fatalities were the immediate effects of the Great War and the incredible spread of a disease was a later one. As a matter of fact, more people died from the Great Influenza Pandemic than from World War One (Tauenberger1). After World War One, Europe and Asia were in chaos. Many European people were without a home, a job and way of life. Desperate, hundreds of thousands immigrated to more stable and industrialized nations such as the United States of America. From 1915 to 1919, an average of over two hundred thirty four thousand immigrants per year came to the United States of America (Cohn 2). A large number of these immigrants came from Europe and were processed at Ellis Island in New York City. Forty percent of all Americans can trace their heritage to Ellis Island (United States Department of the Interior). Ellis Island was so overcrowded with people, the government hurriedly built dormitories, kitchens, and hospitals (United States Department of the Interior). When these people came, they arrived in over crowded boats from unclean places. Due to widespread disease in the boats, there were many burials at sea. According to Livy, he was elected Tribune of the People in 119. His general at the time was very impressed with him and helped he achieve this status. He then served under Metellus in the war against Jugurtha, but Metellus was not a successful leader and failed. When Marius returned back to Rome ran for consul and won the election. He then broke his first law, and persuaded the comitia tribute to give him control of the forces in Africa, which only the senate could do at the time, but he gained the power anyway. He then went to break more rules, by offering the poor a job as a solider, giving them an opportunity to make money, and later gaining their alliance. The war he so badly wanted to lead, was won, but it was actually won by Sulla and not Marius. Sulla was a young questor at the time and only starting his political career. Rome was then attacked in the North. Because of Marius success in geurilla warfare with Jugurtha, Rome trusted him to take care of the fighting in the north, and Marius was elected a 2nd time to consul. Which is again, illegal. After Rome was safe in the North, Marius wanted to repay his army and he established laws that would secure his army land after they has served their time in the army. To do so, he aligned himself with the Tribune of the People, Saturnius. This alliance would gain him a third consulship later. Saturnius and Marius went ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Everyone in today s society is supposed to fit the expectations that has been created, but this individuals to lose their ingenuity. Although many believe that the best ideas and realizations are conceived through the sharing of ideas between multiple people, in all actuality, some of the best inventions were created by single people. These actions can be seen from characters in Anthem, The Odyssey, The Pedestrian, and Lord of the Flies. Isolation leads to clarity due to the lack of external influences tainting one s perspective. Both Simon and Leonard Mead, when solely with their thoughts, are able to foresee the heinous ways of human nature. For example, Leonard Mead, while on a walk, becomes aware of the dilemma that faces the people who are unable to interact with others when he sees sudden gray phantoms seemed to manifest upon inner room walls where a curtain was still undrawn against the night, or there were whisperings and murmurs where a window in a tomblike building was still open (Bradbury 1). THE HISTORY Migraines aren t recent, in fact that have been around since as early as 7,000 BC, but unfortunately valid treatment was not around back then. In 1918, pneumonia had become the cause of more deaths than tuberculosis; giving pneumonia the description of being the captain of the men of death. Inflammation results from the movement of white blood cells (neutrophils) into the air spaces coming from the capillaries. The neutrophils phagocytize the invading bacteria which will kill or degrade the bacteria with the neutrophil s reactive oxygen species, antimicrobial proteins, and enzymes. Additionally, neutrophils release a chromatin meshwork containing antimicrobial proteins that ensnare and destroy extracellular bacteria. This mechanism triggers common signs and symptoms of bacterial and fungal pneumonia such as fever, chills, and fatigue. In addition to the neutrophils and bacteria, fluid fills the air sacs resulting in impaired oxygen carbon dioxide exchange which leads to oxygen deprivation and carbon dioxide retention. The individual tendency is to breathe more rapidly in an attempt to acquire oxygen and expire carbon dioxide. Functions Of Immune Defense For The Elimination Of Pathogens Yahya Bello Chemokine receptor CXCR3 mediates gene transcription Introduction The invasion of microorganisms constantly threatened many organisms and it has evolved systems of immune defense for the elimination of pathogens in the body (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). Innate and adaptive immunity are two branches that are comprised in the immune system (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). The innate immune system is the first line of the defense against pathogens and it is mediated by phagocytes, which includes macrophages and dendritic cells (DC). Adaptive immunity involved in the elimination of pathogens in the late phase of infection as well as the generation of immunological memory (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). This type of immunity is characterized by specificity and develops by clonal selection from a vast range of lymphocytes bearing antigen specific receptors that are produced through a mechanism that is generally known as gene rearrangement. The innate immune response is not entirely specific, but it was rather able to discriminate between self and a variety of pathogens (Shizuo Akira1, 2006). The innate immune system identifies microorganisms through a limited number of germline encoded pattern recognition receptors (PRRs). This is large varieties of rearranged receptors utilized by the adaptive system. PRRs identify microbial components known as pathogen associated molecular patterns (PAMPs) and they are important for the survival of the microorganism and are therefore difficult for the ... Congestion occurs when there is overcrowding on roadways that s causes traffic jams. There are several reasons for the severity of this issue. Congestion causes a lot of delays in the city. It is unlikely that people are on time for anything, even if they planned ahead. With traffic in the city the way it is, you can t blame them. The indirect effect of congestion is traffic pollution. This pollution increases health risks by introducing people to harmful toxins released by cars, specifically in the asthmatic population. Hence, one can see the problems associated with traffic congestion and pollution. There are several ways to counteract the problem of traffic congestion and pollution. Firstly, the most practical solution to New York Citys congestion problem is to decrease the number of cars on the road. One plausible way would be to promote and offer alternative methods of transportation such as buses, subways, and taxis. If people used more public transportation there would be fewer cars on the road, less congestion, and less traffic pollution. Another alternative would be to increase toll prices. By increasing tolls on bridges and tunnels, people would be much less inclined to drive to the city and as a result there would be less traffic congestion and pollution. Gridlock is a major cause of traffic problems in Manhattan. If we were to implement more severe fines for blocking intersections, people would not try to beat the light, in effect decreasing overall congestion. A third approach to try and resolve this issue would be to change some one way streets to two way streets. Doing this would allow easier access to destinations and would eliminate indirect route taking. As a result, overall pollution would decrease. The Growth of the Labour Party and the Decline of the Liberal Party At the end of World War One in November 1918 the Labour Party emerged as a strong political Party. Prior to this it was the Liberal Party that was expected to be the main opposition to the Conservatives, with Labour as a party who used the popularity of the Liberals to become noticed. However, it soon became apparent that the Liberals were a weak and flagging party who were unable to unite as one to make decisions. It is evident that the First World War may have been an important factor in the growth of Labour and the decline of the Liberals. The Liberals were hesitant to support women s suffrage because it was hard to know whom women would vote for. Between 1911 and 1914 the Suffragettes became increasingly militant as the Liberals refused to find parliamentary time to debate the question. The party claimed the issue was a constitutional not a moral question . The suffragette issue damaged the Liberals as their evident reluctance to treat it as a matter of belief weakened their moral standing. Their failure to resolve the issue proved to be a political embarrassment. Between 1908 and 1914 the position of Trade Unions legally improved, but these years also saw the most active period of Trade Union action. This included industrial unrest and much strike action. Two reasons have been given to justify this industrial unrest: syndicalism or a response to the current social and economic conditions. However, it is possible that the Liberal government were to blame for this industrial unrest. They were accused of not taking quick enough action to reverse the Osbourne judgement (where Trade Unions could not ask for a political levy) which was a great embarrassment to them. The political levy was declared illegal in 1909 after a union used part of the fees to fund the Labour Party. There was then a feeling that Liberals were determined to undermine the Labour ... This line demonstrates that Lancaster believes people should put money towards the education of the poor so that they can have a chance to better their place in society. Lancaster tried to lower the cost of education by developing the monitorial system of education which uses less teachers and so lowers salary costs. This is similar to Arne Duncan s emphasis on investing more money into education and in managing costs.
