Throughout history, wars have been an important factor affecting many people s
lives. The two sonnets Anthem for Doomed Youth by Wilfred Owen and Trench
Duty by Siegfried Sassoon are two tales inspired by their experiences fighting in
WW1 and all the horrors that war made them experience. Both poets use different
sonnetstructures, yet convey quite similar messages. In addition, these poets develop
powerful images and metaphors, but in subtly different ways. Sassoon and Owen use
structure, imagery and metaphor to show his audience the horrors of war and also
how unfortunate going to war is.
To begin both sonnets, Sassoon and Owen develop stanzas which argue how they
represent all war disgraces. Sassoon s sonnet is composed by multiple heroic
couplet rhymes, which makes the sonnet more fluid. This could relate to the lack
of focus by part of the soldiers, as to show that everything was happening too fast
in order for the soldiers to focus on anything else besides fighting: why did he do
it?... Starlight overhead ( Trench 13), this is a very clear example on how soldiers
cannot focus, since at the moment that the soldier starts thinking about the purpose

Islam played a huge role in the historical development of the Middle East and in
North Africa. In this essay, I will discuss the impact of Islam s conquest of the

The Iron Curtain Analysis
Description: The artwork that I am criticizing is the Wall of Oil Barrels The Iron
Curtain by Christo and Jeanne Claude. The location of this barricade was in Rue
Visconti, Paris, between Rue Bonaparte and Rue de Seine. Rue Visconti is a one
way street that is 140 meters long and 3 meters wide. They used oil barrels and put
them up on June 27, 1962. Christo and Jeanne Claude worked together on the
barricade, taking a total of eight hours to get it all done. The iron/steel oil barrels
were stacked on top of each other, forming a wall/barricade of some sort. Christo
and Jeanne Claude left all the barrels exactly they way were, they didn t even
change the colors of them. They also kept the brand of the barrel and the rust on
them visible. The barricade took up 488.26800 feet (13.7 x 13.2 x 2.7). There was a
total of 89 barrels used to create the art. Analysis: The wall of oil barrels appear to
be some balance. If they weren t at least balanced and stack properly, the whole thing
would ve probably collapsed. There are just enough enough barrels to make... Show

them, I just thought their work wasn t art and just random things put up/built in
places. Now that I know more about it, I am able to fully understand it and enjoy it
better. I couldn t live with this in my house, it would take up too much space.
Theoretically however, I think I would enjoy having this in my house. I t has a
nice meaning behind it and it would be nice to see everyday. It is aesthetically
successful in my opinion, it just works so well. I would say this art piece is a mix
between formalism and Imitationalism. I believe both are what makes an artwork

Introduction: This experiment aims to discuss whether the thickness of a candle
influences the time of burning. A candle burns by melting the waxnear the wick. This
liquid wax is then drawn up the wick by capillary action. The heat of the flame then
vaporises the wax. Previous results showed that wider candles burnt slower than
thinner candles.
Aim: The aim of this experiment was to find out whether the thickness of a candle
has an effect on the time taken for it to burn down.

Culture at Google Has there not enough been spoken about the culture at Google?
The core of this culture lies in the Founder s philosophy. Google is ruled by its
founders. In the book What would Google do? by Jeff Jarvis, there is wonderful line
that goes like There is an inverse relationship between control and trust. Trust is
established in the process of attracting people to the site and more people that come,
the more companies flock to the internet and thus the search engine. This is called a
two sided network effect. One cannot survive without the other.
This mutual relationship based on transparency and sharing is the core of the
movement. Google served as the platform necessary for the interaction between both
the sides (the producers and consumers). It gave people control and they used it. The
founders of Google worked on this principle.
Google is not a slave to Wall Street The reason being Google builds a corporate
culture that will deliver its mission, and that it is principally organized to drive
innovation.

I guess I d just like to take a moment to reflect on our friendship. Actually, before I
