Biodiversity Essay
Crafting an essay on the subject of biodiversity can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a
comprehensive understanding of ecological concepts, species interactions, and the intricate web
of life on our planet. The complexity of the topic demands not only a grasp of scientific
principles but also an ability to communicate these ideas effectively to a diverse audience.
Researching for a biodiversity essay involves delving into various fields, from biology and
environmental science to conservation and policy. One must navigate through a plethora of
information, ensuring the inclusion of relevant and up-to-date data to present a well-informed
perspective. Balancing the technical details with a narrative that engages the reader is crucial,
making the essay both informative and captivating.
Moreover, addressing the threats to biodiversity, such as habitat loss, climate change, and human
activities, requires a delicate touch. The essay must convey a sense of urgency without
overwhelming the reader, fostering an understanding of the interconnectedness between human
activities and the health of our ecosystems.
Furthermore, creating a compelling argument for the importance of biodiversity and the
consequences of its decline involves synthesizing information from various sources, weaving a
coherent narrative that emphasizes the value of preserving the rich tapestry of life on Earth.
In conclusion, writing an essay on biodiversity demands a nuanced approach, blending scientific
knowledge with effective communication skills. It is a task that requires dedication to research,
thoughtful analysis, and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner.

The Importance Of Word-Net-Use Clustering Performance
WordNet In (Bouras and Tsogkas, 2012), the importance of WordNet hypernymy
relationships is highlighted in enhancing K means clustering algorithm. Similar to the
procedure prior to clustering process, an aggregate hypernym graph is generated to
label a resulting cluster. The effect of other relationships, on the clustering
performance, is not studied. Another Word Net based clustering method is presented
in (Fodeh et al., 2011), where the role of nouns, especially polysemous and
synonymous nouns in document clustering is investigated. A subset of core semantic
features is chosen from disambiguated nouns through an unsupervised information
gain measure. These core semantic features lead to admissible clustering results. The

(Motazedi et al., 2009) and (Lesk, 1986) introduce a bilingual translation machine
called PEnTrans. A novel WSD method is proposed based on Lesk algorithm
(Sarrafzadeh et al., 2011). In order to English to Persian translation, gloss, synset
and ancestors in the radius of two hypernyms are extracted from WordNet, for each
word s sense. Also the POS and WSD tags are included (extracted from extended
WordNet). The authors developed a bilingual dictionary by translation WordNet
senses into Persian. For Persian to English translation a combination of
knowledge, rule and corpus based approaches are utilized and also grammatical
roles of words are considered in the WSD. 5.SEMANTIC ANALYSIS USING

All Lives Matter In The 1500s
All lives matter is a slogan that was created by social media, this network has
served as a dreamer s defender as well as a movement for people to follow. This
contradictory slogan has changed the way media has compelled violence and is a
narrative of what our nation is supposed to be, an equal and free state. This slogan
has opened up the eyes of our nation by proving that freedom is still a constant
trouble. The notion that all lives matter is contradictory phrase in our nation due to
the unfair laws and treaties created by our government. Our nation is saturated with
racism since the begging of days, and we have demonstrated that not all lives matter .
In this essay I will examine the concept all lives matter from the 1500 s through...

and social inequality in colonial America and emerged as a convenient
justification for slavery in a land that claimed to be committed to freedom (Foner

White Americans since the laws exempted every other race that isn t white. Take
the Declaration of Independence for example, the anonymous author of a fourth of

existence of slavery among us (Foner GMK 279). Colonization was also a big
factor in the phrase all lives matter colonizers believed that slavery and racism was
deeply embedded in America that blacks could never achieve equality and freedom
(Foner, GML 444). Black and others indigenous groups carried a norm that gave
them no hope to ever be granted the rights

Petroleum as Vital to Human Existence as Water From the development of the
Industrial Revolution to the Information Age we live in today our civilization has
been able to progress with the help of the Industrial Revolution s basic necessity
known as petroleum. This resource is so valuable that it has been the reason of 6
global conflicts and the creation of a trillion dollar industry. James Buchan a
Financial Times correspondent stated, A century ago, petroleum what we call oil was
just an obscure commodity; today it is almost as vital to human existence as water.

In order to keep up with demand, the United States has been forced to rely on
importing 80% of its crude oil. This niche was filled from the creation of OPEC who
uses price gouges to create an economic boom in their country, through unifying and
controlling the industry. This economic boom produced by OPEC amounts to an
annual 730 billion (U.S.) dollars. In order to fully understand the magnitude of
power this organization has, we can compare their annual income to every country
s GDP. After doing this we notice that OPEC would be the 20th wealthiest nation
trumping 167 countries in the process. This fact is mind boggling because when we
talk about GDP we are talking about the value of all the finished goods and services
produced within a country. When we talk about OPEC we are talking about a single
product which is crude oil. This is worrisome for many reasons, first and foremost
being that countries who are not members of the organization don t want one
organization controlling and monopolizing such a valuable resource.
The effects of monopolizing a single product is the power of setting a single price
that everyone else needs to follow. This is why America and other non OPEC
countries deal with gouging oil prices. The reasoning for OPEC doing this is clear
from ridiculous profit margins to political influence. The power that OPEC holds was
never more prevalent than in the 1973 embargo on the U.S. and European nations
over the Arab Israeli War. The
Nature And Nature In Antonio Vivaldi s La Primavera
My first work is La Primavera written by the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi in
1723. La Primavera is one of four violin concertos, each capturing moods and
illustrating stories related to a specific time of year. Each section within this
movement illustrate the most beautiful scenes of the springseason, including birds,
babbling brooks, and a thunderstorm. (Soomo). My second work is an oil on canvas
painting, titled The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone by Thomas Moran. The Grand
Canyon of the Yellowstone was painted in 1872 and captures the unique geological
formations and diverse and extravagant colors of the Midwestern United States
landscape. The common theme shared by both of the chosen pieces of work is nature.
Antonio Vivaldiembraces the spring season and captures the moods and illustrates
stories specific to that time of year. Moran captured the true beauty of a Midwestern
landscape of the United States. Although one work is musical piece and the other is a
landscape painting, both capture the beauty of nature and the surrounding elements.
2. Audience Impact
The theme of nature should impact any member of my audience. Although each
artifact contains its own unique message, both pieces of art possess an underlying
message of connecting with nature. For the audience, a deep connection with nature
is offered through the artifacts as they are reminded of the inherent beauty that exists
in the natural world. I feel the chosen topic of the presentation would be
M1 contract law
In this assignment I will be giving advice to Rick s girlfriend on whether she has a
legal right to return the laptop that Rick bought for her. I will be analysing whether
a valid contract was formed and who it was formed with. As Rick s girlfriend didn
t buy the laptop and is under the age of 18 she wouldn t be able to return the laptop
as there has been no contract formed with her. However we can assume that her
boyfriend is over the age of 18 and as he bought the laptop this means the contract
was formed with Rick instead of Rick s girlfriend. The type of contract that was
formed with Rick was a standard form contract this is a type of a contract is a

So the court held that the waistcoats were not a necessity and therefore there was
no valid contract formed between the minor and tailor. We can link this to Rick as
when he bought the laptop, he intended to give the laptop to his girlfriend which
means that when the contract was formed and if he was under the age of 18, the
contract wouldn t be valid due to the fact that the laptop is not a necessity to him
neither does it benefit him as he isn t using the laptop. But because we are
assuming that Rick is over the age of 18 it would not matter whether the laptop was
a necessity or a benefit to him as he can form a valid contract. When the contract
was formed we are assuming that there was no misrepresentation. Misrepresentation
is where a false statement of fact or law which induces the representee to enter a
contract. From the scenario we can assume that there has been no misrepresentation.
But if there had been any misrepresentation we would assume that s it innocent
misrepresentation which is when the representor had reasonable grounds for
believing that his or her false statement was true. But it is very unlikely that any
had happened but if there had of been the shop wouldn t have known this as the box
was sealed the only people who could of know that the laptop was damaged would
be manufacturers. To conclude this assignment the advice I would give to Rick s
Theme of Carpe Diem in A Fine, a Private Place by...
The words carpe diem mean seize the day in Latin. It is a theme that has been used
throughout the history of literature and has been a popular philosophy in teaching
from the times of Socrates and Plato up to the modern English classroom. Carpe
diem says to us that life isn t something we have forever, and every passing moment
is another opportunity to make the most out of the few precious years that we have
left. In the poems A Fine, a PrivatePlace by Diane Ackerman and To His Coy Mistress
by Andrew Marvell, carpe diem is the underlying theme that ties them together, yet
there are still a few key differences throughout each of these two poems that shows
two very different perspectives on how one goes about seizing their day.... Show more

The love between the two seems that it will be eternal. Time seems to stand still in
this poem, seizing a moment between two lovers and accentuating it with nature s
majesty.
The second poem by Marvell isn t quite as flowing and pretty. Marvell writes about
a man who is completely infatuated with a woman and must have sex with her
before time catches up with them. The woman is shy and refuses the man, but he
tells her that if he had all the time in the world, they would sit down, and think
which way / To walk, and pass our long love s day (Lines 3 4) and she would sit by
the Indian Ganges river and collect rubies while he sang her love songs by the side
of the Humber river. His love for her is temporary however, feeding only on her
physical attributes, whereas in Ackerman s poem, the love shown is precious and
makes time stand still. In the next stanza he tells the woman that one day her
beauty will no longer exist and that his echoing song (Line 27) will no longer
sound in her marble vault (Line 26). He warns her to seize her opportunity to have
sex with him right away before she dies a virgin and the worms devour her. The man
in Marvell s poem says whatever he can think of to make his coy mistress sleep with
him, anticipating throughout the entire poem that she will finally give in. She never
does, and the poem ends in desperation and dissatisfaction.
It seems as though Ackerman
Effects Of Race Riots On Urban African Americans
Urban Blacks were also encounter with extreme racial violence in neighborhoods
and at work. Different ethnic groups of new immigrants obtained power and used
conflict as a strategy of diminishing urban Blacks power level. They began blocking
Urban Black workers going to work throughout new immigrant s neighborhoods. Race
riots have played a crucial role in the social establishment of race, prejudice, and
discriminationacross the United States. Race riots uncovered fundamental tensions
in societies experiencing swift technological and economic changes. In 1920, there
were many race riots and other violence in many places, such as Red Summer Race
Riots of 1919 and the St. Louis Riot of 1917 that took place during the segregation
in the South and the Black urban migration to the North. These race riots were
response to the reality that Urban Blacks were carrying on a powerful struggle
against White supremacy. During race riots, Urban Blacks lived through a renewed
flow of riots, massacres, and racial terrorism.
Before the race riots broke out in Chicago, tension between two communities were
high and resulted 1919 Chicago Race Riot, which Black teenager called Eugene
Williams swimming in Lake Michigan was stoned to death by White bystanders. His
death caused one of the worst riots in American history because 37 people died, 500
injured and thousands left homeless. When the local police were called to the
William s death, they refused to arrest the man who initiated the

The Effects Of Unauthorized Migration On The United
States
Vicious Cycle
Unauthorized migration in the United States has turned into a Vicious Cycle of
adverse effects that sustain a system of underdevelopment, reduced productivity, low
wage, and limited rights (Hinojosa, 2015). This is the reality of many migrants that
leave their country of origin in search of economic mobility. The push factors that
influence people s decision to migrate are primarily economic and security. Poverty,
lack of employment, opportunities, and economic mobility along with high rates of
violence and crime drive people out of their home countries which tend to be in the
Global South and into the Global North where developed nations like the United
States have pull factors that attract the excessive labor from developing nations.
Demand for low skilled labor, higher paying wages, social and political stability,
quality education, and greater wealth are some of the many qualities that make
advanced nations the preferred destination.
The Vicious Cycle begins with the push factors that cause people to migrate out
(Hinojosa, 2015). Lack of opportunities take people across treacherous borders in the
hopes of reaching their destination, a country like the United States in which they
find a decent paying job that allows them to sustain themselves and their loved ones
back home (Hinojosa, 2015. The inflow of remittances to a home country add up to
millions and sometimes billions for some countries. The large cash inflow into
countries heavily dependent on
Nature And Social Impact Of Television And Its Impact On...
Television has a great attractiveness for a people, forms the preference, style of
thinking and behavior. This is a significant mechanism which makes a big impact on
the human: Among of all other media out there, the TV is the most wanted in society
as this is the easiest way for a person to perceive the information because compared to
reading newspapers or listening to radio, a human makes the least mental effort.
Naturally, children fall under the influence of such a good assistant in the process of
discovering the world much easier than adults. Consequently, television by its nature
and social functions has enormous opportunities for influencing the inner world and
human behavior. American TV show about the outstanding doctor diagnostician

My Values, Social Justice, Equality, And Service
I believe people figure out their values throughout their life experiences. Therefore,
everyone is figured to have different values because everyone goes through
different life experiences. Values are the implicit and explicit ideas about what we
cherish as ideal and preferable, (DuBois Miley, 2014, p 108). My personal values are
honesty, social justice, equality, and service. There has been a situation within my
life that made me valueeach one of those values. For example, I developed service
as my value by seeing my cousin give service back to the community. I use to see
him give clothing items and feed people within the community and the smile they
had on their face was priceless. Social justice is also a value of mine because it
specifically help people within the lower class. I think SNAP is a great example of
how it helps them. Service and social justice are two values of mine that are similar
to the social work values. I think it s great that I have those two values while going
into social work because it shows I am willing to help and provide opportunities for
individuals.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Catholicism In America
On January 20, 1961, the first Catholic President of the United States of America was
sworn into office. John F. Kennedy held the office of the president during one of the
most turbulent times in the history of the United States; the Cold War was in full
swing, the Vietnam War was underway, the Civil Rights Movement was gaining
momentum, and America was undergoing a large cultural revolution. Many
important events required a variety of responses, and instrumental in JFK s
administration was his brother, Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, the driving
force behind the focus on Civil Rights, and impactful in his meetings with the Soviet
Ambassador during the Cuban Missile Crisis. RFK continued his political career
after the untimely assassination... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Being the third son and seventh child, Robert was largely ignored by his father
Joseph, who focused on the accomplishments of Joe Jr. and Jack, but received
much attention from his devout mother. RFK preformed poorly in school, and was
perceived as an awkward loner. Despite this, he developed a keen sense of personal
morality, and was very devout in his faith. Trained as an alter boy, an action he
carried into adulthood, he attended Mass at his private Catholic school more than
necessary, and stayed after to pray, and invited others to Mass as well. Joining the
Navy in 1943, not deploying in the war, and being discharged in 1946, RFK had

which was not quite as unquestioning.... In Ethel s purity Kennedy may have found

Gothic Cinema And The Movie The Conjuring
In life, some people prefer to watch movies, and some people prefer to read books.
Then there are some who love both movies and books. However, when one genre is
portrayed in cinema and in literature, it is easy to compare the two. Are they
complementary or are they in opposition to each other? In terms of gothic cinema and
literature, they are both complementary to one another. In the two movies, The
Conjuring and The Skeleton Key, gothic cinema proves to go hand in hand with the
style of textual gothic and they both show to have a strong aesthetic force. In the
pieces of gothic literature, The Falls, The Book of Blood, and Amityville Horror,
they are all very strong gothic pieces which all have a strong aesthetic force. In the
movie, The Conjuring, gothic cinema proves to go hand in hand with the style of
textual gothic and it has a strong aesthetic force. In this movie, it portrays many
aspects of traditional gothic literature. For example, the element of the supernatural is
the main part of this movie. By making the center of this movie about supernatural
occurrences, it goes hand in hand with textual gothic. In textual gothic, there is
almost always some type of supernatural element, even if it is as small as in The
Castle of Otranto. However, instead of having a small supernatural element, The
Conjuring provides the audience with extremely terrifying and real supernatural
components. For example, one terrifying moment in this movie is when the daughter,

Measure For Measure
Measure for Measure is often described as a problem comedy because the themes
and tones that are presented in the play do not share the same optimistic themes
and tones of Shakespeare s previous comedies. The familiar formula that classifies
Measure for Measure as a comedy are mistaken identity (the bed trick ), disguise,
the Duke disguises himself as a Friar to keep tabs on Angelo, Lucio as comedic
relief, and the resolution of the playwith the multiple marriages of Juliet and Claudio,
Angelo and Mariana, and Lucio and Kate Keepdown. Although Measure for Measure
fills the criteria for comedy, it is set apart because of themes of judgement and justice,
marriage and sex, and religion and mortality. The cynical tone that Shakespeare

While the Duke is in a position of authority, he has not been using his authority to
enforce the laws prohibiting his citizens from engaging in prostitution and having
sex out of wedlock. The Duke is aware of this when he points out: We have strict
statutes and most biting laws,/ The needful bits and curbs to headstrong weeds
/ Which for this fourteen years we have let slip (1.3.19 21). In Measure for
Measure, sex outside of marriage is punishable by death, yet at the end of the play
the punishment is marriage for at least two of the pairings. Compared to
Shakespeare s other comedies, marriage is not a form of punishment but rather a
goal for the couples to satisfy their mutual yearning for each other, and their
communities demand for clear kinship structures...to legitimate members of a new
generation (Maus 2040). For Claudio and Juliet, their union becomes official when
the Duke orders them to be married. As for Angelo and Lucio, marriage is a
punishment. Angelo is ordered to marry Mariana by the Duke after the bed trick
of Mariana posing as Isabella is revealed to Angelo and that since he was already
betrothed to Mariana, the marriage is consummated. As for Lucio, he has to marry
Kate Keepdown, a prostitute who he shares a child with. For him he explicitly says
marrying a punk [prostitute] is pressing to death/ whipping or hanging (5.1. 515
516). Since the view of marriage and sex is pessimistic
How Did Shakespeare Impact The European Renaissance
Many have argued about just what defined the Renaissance, be it the artwork, the
rulers, or the community of the era itself, but nothing compares to effect of literature
on the European Renaissance. Literature ingrained itself into the period by expanding
the populous view and their ability to access information, creating a more creative
and educated public. This, consequently, kick started multiple inventions, pieces of
art, and research that would change how we viewed the world forever. Johann
Gutenberg is presumed to be the inventor of the printing press, starting the first
printing company in the late 1430 s. Before the press, all books and other writings
had been done by hand, resulting in script being expensive, inconsistent, and prone...

William, in total, wrote more than thirty plays and one hundred and fifty four
sonnets, resulting in him being recognized as one of the most influential writers of
history, but despite this, not much is known about the man. From what historians
have gathered, his father had a high enough standing in the socioeconomic chain to
afford a well rounded, humanistic education, (Milne 682 704) for William, meaning
he had plentiful access to information and most types of literature. Because
Shakespeare was able to access such information, it not only allowed him to write
masterpieces that would be shared for multiple millennium, but it also enabled him to
travel all about Europe (an educated man like himself made enough money to do
so). Another author who found themselves embedded within the literature boom
was Elizabeth Carey, a woman who, amidst her husband s abusive family
controlling her livelihood, was the first female playwright to write a play in
English. When her husband, Sir Henry Carey, went off to fight in Spain, Elizabeth
moved in with his family who enforced the rule of No Reading upon her. To spite
them, she wrote instead. The Tragedy of Mariam was completed in this time, the
play earning her her title of the first woman to write a play in English and inspired
others to pursue literature and language, even if the world seems to be set up against
Analysis Of The Poem Oranges And Small Town With One...
Poetry is a creative art expressed through words and created through passion, prior
experience and multiple outer influences. Gary Soto is a famous poet who
blossomed in the late 20th century. Soto used different variations of poetry tools to
create expressive poems based on his own life experience. While Soto wrote many
different poems, the poems Oranges and Small Town With One Road stand out and
can be deeply analyzed. Both poems are strongly emphasized with his past
experiences in life. Gary Soto writes poems about hope, diversity and harshness of
life, because he relates to his own personal experience while conveying his meaning
through the poems.
Gary Soto was born in Fresno, California in April 12, 1952. Soto s grandparents
were immigrants from mexico, leading to him being born to a mexican american
working family which struggled to find work( Gary Soto, Poetry foundation). Soto s
father died when he was five which affected his future poetry. Growing up as a
mexican in the middle of the 20th century, Gary was exposed to the harshness of
belonging to a mexican family in america which he later wrote in his poetry( Gary
Soto, Poets.org). Gary started working in the fields and factories at a young age, he
was not academically motivated in grade school but became interested in poetry in
high school( Gary Soto, Poetry Foundation). In high school, his influencers in
literature were Ernest Hemingway, Jules Verne, John Steinbeck and Robert Frost.

Boiling Point Lab
The purpose of this experiment is to identify unknown substances by finding certain
properties that this substance has. Like the density, melting point and the boiling
point with these we are able to identify the unknown liquid and unknown solid that
we are given. In order to get the density of a liquid we are first going to divide the
mass of the liquidby the volumeof the liquid in order to get us the density. In order to
get the density of a solid we are going to divide the mass of the solid by the volume
of the solid in order to get us the density of the solid. Next we are going to want to
find the boiling point of a liquid we find this by placing a thermometer and test
tube into a beaker with some water in it. Then we boil it and record the data we are
going to want to record the start of the boiling and constant temp of the boiling then
use this equation ( Start of boiling + constant temp of boiling ) / 2. This will give us
our boiling temperature+/ 5 degrees. Finally we are going to want to find the melting
point of a solid we do this by placing the tube in the device that determines the
melting point of a solid. Then we... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
We then will use the equation mass / volume and get the density. Now for the
second section of the experiment to find the boiling point of a liquid we are going
to need a thermometer, beaker , test tube , heat source we will boil the liquid and
get the boiling point of it by using the equation ( t1 + t2)/2. To get the melting point
of a solid we are going to need a mel temp, bunsen burner , thermometer, and a
capillary tube. We should not need any equations because once the liquid form of the
solid starts to melt we will record that temperature +/

On November 15, 2015 at approximately 0052 hrs., I was parked at O Reilly Auto
Parts, 200 S. Main St., Brookfield, MO 64628. While sitting at O Reilly Auto Parts,
I observed a black in color truck traveling southbound on S. Main St. I noticed the
truck had its running lights running but failed to display lighted lamps on a motor
vehicle. I activated my red and blue emergency lights noticing the driver crossing the
white center line two times before the truck came to a complete stop.
The truck came to a stop in the 600 block of S. Main St. I made contact with the

Social Class; Upper vs.Lower
Social Class has a massive impact in society and the world around us. Social Class is
individual groups in society constructed around analogous characteristics such as
income, occupation, educational status, power and geographical location. (Barcelona
Field Studies, 2010). Social class seems to be a differentiating factor in the
distribution of rewards and punishments in our society, if we consider the rewards
and punishments of a conventional and stereotyped kind, (Rath,1994)
Social Class distributes civilization into two central groupings, Upper Class and
Lower Class. Upper Class encompasses the social group that has the uppermost status
in society, with higher salary and supremacy in the community. Lower Class is
branded by low income, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In a Public school, the classes are much larger and have to cater for groups of
students, not individuals. The interviewee for this project said that he felt that
Public School Teachers didn t care for him as an individual which made him grow
in areas such as independence, but also made him lack in education skills. He also
felt that the private schools, one on one time, was more like babysitting the students
and was encouraging the students to rely on their teachers to do their assignments.
Public School Classrooms are built to cater for a large amount of students whereas
the Private School classrooms are spread out and have state of the art technology to
help their students. This can be seen in figure one with the comparison between the
two classrooms. The Public School classroom is larger but with more desks and
chairs to fit more students whereas the Private School classroom has new Mac
computers and much more room.
Background life and family influence play a considerable fragment in which way a
child progresses into society and to which social class they will belong. Lower
class has a tendency to end up in trades and low paying jobs where as the upper
class end up in the higher paying and socially adequate business jobs. It s an
unbroken cycle which is continuously recurring. However, they are now making
pathways for other entrance formalities via TAFE. This may be a more economic

A Child s Sense Of Self
A child s sense of self as separate from the world is formulated early in development.
Children exposed to early trauma, especially by a primary care giver, develop a
distorted sense of the self, others, and the world. When exposed to trauma, children
become overwhelmed and are unable to effectively self regulate thus leading to a
disjointed sense of self. They have a tendency to lose hope and expect that life will
be dangerous thus challenging their ability to survive (Terr, 1992). Survival
becomes the predominant drive for children exposed to trauma and their focus
becomes toward responding and adapting to a potentially threatening environment.
Feelings of trust and the sense of self become compromised as resources are
allocated toward coping with threats. Traumatized children experience guilt and low
self esteem and perceive themselves as unlovable and unworthy of protection or
love (Johnson, 1985, 1987). The core concept of an individual is largely influenced
by one s ability to regulate internal emotional states and one s behavioral reactions to
external stress. Children who experience trauma have difficulty managing their
emotional states thus leading to poor perceptions of themselves. A distorted sense of
self can potentially lead to loss of autobiographical memories, poor body image, and
disturbances in sense of separateness in which the person may appear detached and
distant (Carr, 2012). It may also lead to difficulty with impulse control which includes
aggression
How Did Martin Luther King A Time To Break Silence
On April 4, 1967, Martin Luther King spoke publicly in New York, New York
about USA s involvement in the Vietnam war. He strongly felt that the U.S. should
stop immediately because it went against everything the U.S. is all about. The war
in Vietnam was causing millions of innocent people to die, and Martin Luther King
was fed up with the way we had intruded the basic human rights of the Vietnamese
people. In Martin Luther King s A Time to Break Silence speech, Dr.King used
refutations, reflections, and requests in order to effectively state why the war in
Vietnam should come to a halt. Dr. King effectively used refutations in an effort to
try and stop the troops from hurting innocent people in Vietnam. While he was in
the process of doing this, many people questioned what he was doing. For example
many people asked, Why are you speaking about the war, Dr. King? So, why would
people question his decision to act and speak out against the war in... Show more

He was trying to persuade the government bring back the troops from Vietnam. He
did this by using a couple requests. Martin Luther King s first request was that the
government needs to end all bombing in Vietnam. Many innocent people had died
because of the bombings that were taking place. The troops didn t mean to do this,
but since Vietnam had so many villages in the jungle many civilians were caught in
the bombings. His next request was that the government needs to cease fire in hopes
that a negotiation would take place. America had stormed into Vietnam in hopes they
could start a negotiation. Unfortunately, we started firing on the Vietnamese soldiers
and there wasn t a hope for any negotiations until we see asked fire. Mr. King s final
request was to set a date that would remove all foreign troops from Vietnam that
agreed with the 1954 Geneva agreement act. By removing the troops, this would help

Tammany Hall Gambling
State and federal laws preventing lotteries had a profound unintended consequence.
There is a long history of illegal gambling proceeds corrupting politics and one of the
most appropriate examples involves the Democratic Party political machine of New
York City, Tammany Hall. Zachariah Simmons built a very organized network with
hundreds of policy shops throughout New York City. In just one week, the gross
receipts totaled $1 million and a great deal of those profits trickled down to the
local political bosses. Tammany Hall ruled politics in New York City for decades
by a few simple means corruption and voter fraud. For example, Tammany Hall
literally released prisoners from the penitentiary to vote for them in the election of

The American Dream In John Irving s A Prayer For Owen
Meany
Bernie Sanders, politician and former presidential candidate, is cited as saying, For
many, the American dream has become a nightmare. Concise yet compelling, this
quote represents not only todays opposition to the idea of an American dream; it
captures a reality that has existed since the American dream s inception. On the
surface, it is a beautiful rags to riches tale, a harmless capitalist ideal; see past the
facade, however, and one will find a plethora of immorality and inequalities spanning
race, class, and gender. One of the most prominent events in American history that put
the American Dream under the citizens lens was the Vietnam War; the draft and the
loss of countless innocent lives forced the average American to reevaluate the
morality of a dream deeply ingrained in their culture. John Irvingskillfully weaves the
Vietnam War into A Prayer for Owen Meany
to highlight one of many flaws of the
American Dream; through this and many other events, Irving shows that the Dream
beats down morality and kindness, encourages unhealthy self centeredness, and does
not take into account events people cannot avoid.
First, Irving makes it clear that there is no room for morality and kindness in the
American Dream. Instead, these qualities are treated as diversions on the road to
self made. For instance, when describing the living conditions of Hester and Owen,
John tells the reader, I think that her late hours... were in part responsible for Owen
Meany s decline as a
Bletchley Blitz Research Paper
Unraveling the Enigma
Code breaking was a crucial part of the secret efforts of the allied forces during
World War II. Though modern day code breaking is a feat which can be achieved
by means of using advanced technology, during World War II, code breaking was a
vital and dangerous endeavour. The Nazi s Enigma code was one of the most
difficult and essential ciphers to unscramble. The Bletchley Park code breakers
actually created what was considered the first prototype of a computer for the
purpose cracking the Enigma code. In deciphering the Enigma code many lives were
lost, however, a larger number of lives were saved. The Coventry Blitz was a prime
example of how lives were lost in order to preserve the secrecy of the Enigma code.

Before World War II, Coventry was an important manufacturing and engineering
city in England which supplied the British military with products and materials
essential to Britain s war preparations. Once the Enigma code had been decrypted,
the code breakers discovered information about one of the main Nazi attacks on
Coventry, codenamed Operation Moonlight Sonata to the Nazis. News of this
attack was revealed to Churchill through FW Winterbotham, a British Royal Air
Force officer who supervised the distribution of ULTRA intelligence (Winston
Churchill). ULTRA was the codename for any vital information obtained from the
intercepted Nazi Enigma messages (History). Winterbotham delivered the
intelligence to Churchill when Coventry s name was decrypted from Nazi
messages on November 14, 1940 at 3:00 PM, the afternoon before the raid
(Winston Churchill). The November 14th raid was the most vicious attack
Coventry experienced during World War II. Nazi bombers released a deadly
amount of dangerous explosives on Coventry. Of the 568 people killed, more than
400 were burned so badly that they were unidentifiable. More than 60 000
buildings were destroyed, including 27 war factories (History). Although Churchill
knew in advance that the Nazis would attack Coventry, he deliberately withheld the
information because warning the city of Coventry and its residents of the imminent
threat would have alerted the Nazis that their codes had been cracked. Had the
Nazis known that their codes had been unravelled, they would begin using a
different form of coded messaging, thus rendering the progress of the code breakers
useless. (Daily Mail Online). It was necessary for Churchill to sacrifice the lives of
the people of Coventry to protect the endeavours of the code breakers in Bletchley
Case 3.7.1 Familial Melanoma
3.7.1 Familial melanoma
Familial melanoma is a genetic or inherited condition. This means that the risk of
having a melanoma can be passed from generation to generation in a family.
Ordinarily, each cell has two copies of each gene: one inherited from the mother and
one inherited from the father. Familial melanoma follows a dominant inheritance
pattern, in which case a mutation happens in only one copy of the gene. As every cell
has two copies of each gene, it means that a parent can potentially pass along a
copy of his or her normal gene or a copy of the mutated gene. Therefore, a child who
has a parent with a mutation has a 50% chance of inheriting that mutation. A related
person such as a brother or a parent of the person who has a mutation also has a 50%
chance of having the same mutation.
There is a certain amount of known genetic mutations associated with skin cancer.

Many sporadic melanomas are also found to have mutations or loss of expression of
this tumor suppressor gene, known to act in the same signaling pathway as the
retinoblasma cases (see 3.3 Tumor suppressor genes).
3.7.4 CDK4 (cyclin dependent kinase 4)
Mutations in this gene are responsible for an increased incidence of melanoma in a
very small amount of families. The incidence of melanoma of CDK4 is similar to
the families that have mutations in the gene CDKN2A. The gene CDK4 is a proto
oncogene that makes a protein that helps control cell division. However, when the
CDK4 gene is mutated, it products an abnormal CDK4 protein that is too active. This
abnormal protein makes cell divide uncontrollably fast, which could lead to tumor
formation. Clinically, CDK4 and CDKN2A are mostly similar.
3.7.5 Xeroderma pigmentosum
Xeroderma pigmentosum is an inherited condition characterized by an extreme
sensitivity to ultraviolet rays from
How Did Harriet Tubman Contribute To The Success Of...
During the 19th century, the issue of slavery bubbled up, yet again. Slaves began to
run away from their owners, in search for freedom in the North. Some made the
journey alone, but many had the assistance of a network called the Underground
Railroad. Some people became guides to escaped slaves to lead them to the borders.
Among these brave souls was Harriet Tubman, who made it to freedom, but kept
risking her own life to go back and save others. Harriet Tubman was an essential part
to the success of the Underground Railroad by being an inspiration to enslaved
African Americans with her own escape, her role as the main conductor, and the
threat she posed to the slavery economy.
Araminta Harriet Ross, was one of nine children born to enslaved parents between
1808 and 1832, in Dorchester County, Maryland. Physical violence was part of
everyday life for the young girl. She sustained her most severe injury in her teenage
years. When Araminta refused to help restrain a runaway slave, his overseer threw a
two pound weight that struck her in the head. She endured headaches, seizures, and
narcoleptic episodes for the rest of her life as a result of the injury.
Physical violence wasn t the only hardship that she endured in her early life. Her
family became severed when three of her sisters were sold to other plantations that
were far away. A trader from Georgia approached interested in buying her youngest
brother, but their mother successfully resisted, preventing further
Gaucher Disease Types I, II, IIi
Gaucher Disease Types I, II, III
Gaucher Disease is a type of lysosomal storage disorder. The importance is that they
are meant to keep everything in order. Lysosomes are microscopic organelles that
have a primary function to serve as digestion compartments. According to Davidson,
(1) lysosomes help break down many different materials such as fats, proteins, waste
products, and more to transfer those compounds to become new cell building
materials . Consequentially, making lysosomes an important factor to our daily
functions in life. Lysosomal storage diseases form due to the modification of
lysosomal enzymes. The diseases can be metabolically inherited through gene
mutation. In Lysosomal Storage Disease , Michael Kruer (2) claims that, ... Show

In fact type two and three effect the brain and spinal cord becoming very serious.
In contrast, Type three is not as quick to become evident in young children. Similar
to type one, type three can show up later in childhood, and take longer to progress
into worse symptoms. Sadly, infants that are proscribed with type two disease
normally don t live to see the age of three. Type two disease quickly takes effect
over a person, not allowing the chance for growth into adulthood. The most severe
Gaucher s disease is Perinatal lethal, which can kill an infant in a matter of days
after being born. The causes for Perinatal lethal, according to Web MD (3) are, too
much fluid in baby s body before or after being born, dry skin, enlarged liver and
spleen, and severe brain and spinal cord problems. Because of these problems an
infant will not be capable of having much of a chance to grow and mature, due to the
weakness of being a fragile newborn.
Ages that symptoms begin, normally vary due to what type of disorder the person
has. The main problem with lysosome diseases are that they are genetically
inherited. Which means, that mothers and fathers genetically carry some type of
disorder and pass it down to their children. Because of this being caused by genetics,
symptoms will normally begin based upon what type of disorder that is inherited.
Which makes it hard to know at what age symptoms will

also because it is in their benefit to ignore it. The people of Germany ignored the
circumstances of the Jewish, Polish, mentally or physically disabled, Gypsy, and

the results of propaganda and the passage towards genocide, as the economic benefit

Telescopes Are Those That Use Both Mirrors And Lenses
Catadioptric: Catadioptric telescopes are those that use both mirrors and lenses to
produce an image. The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is
the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a
catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and mirrors. SCTs are primarily
reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eliminate aberrations that
would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming light passes
through the Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of
telescope. It is reflected from a concave primary mirror at the back of the scope
which focuses the light to the front of the telescope where it is reflected again by a
smaller, convex secondary mirror. Finally, the light travels back through a hole in
the primary mirror to the rear of the scope where an eyepiece is located for visual
observing. (Starizona.com, 2015) Below is a ray diagram of a Schmidt Cassegrain
telescope: (A levelphysicstutor.com, 2015) At first it seems that an SCT should have
a focal length twice as long as the length of the tube, since the light travels twice the
length of the tube. However, SCTs actually have focal lengths about 5 times longer
than the tube length. This is due to the convex curvature of the secondary mirror.
This effectively magnifies the focal length, making the scope act much longer than it
is. The diagram below shows how a Cassegrain type telescope (such as an SCT)

They believed that the Tutsi had superior martial skill and intelligence and that the

that only Tutsi were pastoralists. (Destexhe, 38). The colonisers took the myth to the

Hutu and Tutsi spoke the same language and practiced similar religions. They also
intermarried. The identity card ethnicity of future generations was determined
patrilineally; all persons were designated as having the ethnicity of their fathers,
regardless of the ethnicity of their mothers. (Magnarella, 2002). These practices were
carried on until its abolition by the 1994 post genocide government. Paul Magnarella
observes had the unfortunate consequence of firmly attaching a sub national identity
to all Rwandans and thereby rigidly dividing them into categories, which, for many
people, carried a negative history of dominance subordination, superiority, inferiority,

situation changed. Rwanda was faced with a critical food people land imbalance.

Another can struck the steps behind the speaker. Two of his supporters stood and
peered worriedly into the crowd. For the second time in the same day, Storm felt the
threat of violence hanging heavy in the air. He turned at the sound of a dog s bark to
see the dark snout of a large German Shepherd straining at its leash.
A whistle pierced the air as the police made their way rapidly through the crowd.
Two thickset men wearing jeans confronted the uniforms. Pushing and shoving, but
they found themselves thrown hard to the ground and handcuffed. Storm got up and
made his way through the arch and down a stone wall corridor, hoping to find a
way into the building. A large policeman in full protective armor, a helmet over his
head and a baton in his hand, stepped from between the columns, blocking his way.
On the other side of the columns, Storm saw the black trucks of the riot squad.
Beside them was a white bus with metal grids over the windows. The sides bore the

John Brown Abolitionist
John Brown was an American abolitionist who believed armed insurrection was the
only way to overthrow the institution of slavery in the US. Due to to the violence he
used to erase slavery he was considered a murderer/terrorist, however some believed
he was a hero, since he fought against slavery. To me John Brownwas a hero and
villain/terrorist. He was a man who did some things that were looked upon by some
as terrorist type acts, but others looked at those same acts as fighting against slavery.
it is quite easy to see Brown as a villain. After all, he committed a massacre in
Kansas in which he brutally killed a number of men in front of their wives and kids.
In Kansas he also murdered fathers and sons, because they were from the South ...

The people who thought he was a hero believed strongly in the abolitionist cause.
Brown helped fight against slavery, because he believed in equal rights, but he
didn t believe there was a peaceful way to solve this, and so he used violence. I to
agree with him that you needed some kind of violence to end slavery, however he
killed many innocent people which was wrong. He was someone who did lot s of
very bad things, but he did them for a clearly good cause. In John Brown s address
it states I intended, certainly, to have made a clean thing of that matter, as I did
last winter when I went into Missouri, and there took Slaves without the snapping
of a gun on either side, moving them through the country, and finally leaving them
in Canada. I designed to have done the same thing again on a larger scale. That was
all I intended . I never did intend murder, or treason, or the destruction of property,
or to excite or incite Slaves to rebellion, or to make insurrection. This shows Brown
did at first tried to solve slavery peacefully, but it didn t work so he moved on and
used violence. Also in John Brown s address it states I feel entirely satisfied with
the treatment I have received on my trial. This shows that Brown took up for his
sins and wants to serve them. This I consider a good act, and also he is fighting for
slavery, and if you fight for slavery shouldn t that make you a hero? Even if John
Brown used violence methods to end slavery he still fought against slavery which is
The Importance Of Public School And Public Schools
Public schools provide an environment where young people can discover who they
are meant to become. John Holt s essay, School Is Bad For Children emphasizes the
ways the public school system destroys a student s imagination and willingness to
learn. This is not the case for every school. Schools are often a safe place for
students to learn not only the academic material but, they are also places for students
to develop their talents while building a strong support system. The government can
not regulate every schoolto make sure each student is getting exactly what each
student deserves. While the generic system is easy to maintain and to teach, there is
no guarantee learning is occurring for the students. Public schools help each student
navigate their own minds by providing a general educationby which the students can
choose what they do with their knowledge after they graduate. Without
conventional public schooling, many students would not have the chance to learn,
schools can provide an adequate education regardless of the location of teaching,
and public schools are safe places for children with unidealistic family lives. In the
United States of America the gap between upper and lower class is growing and
public education provides an outlet from poverty. The amount of Americans living
in the middle class is decreasing. If the US decided to change the public school
system and reform schools to be exactly how Holt describes, only the wealthy would
be able to afford
Revenge And Adultery In Le Morte D Arthur
Important reoccurring themes in Le Morte d Arthur are adultery, fate, revenge,
people hiding their true identity, (unanswered) love, quests and chivalry HIER
OOK. In Le Morte d Arthur adultery is one of the most important themes and Arthur
has a lot to do with it. First of all he was born because of adultery between his
mother Igraine, who was actually married to the duke of Tintagil, and his father King
Uther Pendragon. Secondly he commits adultery himself with his sister, King Lot s
wife. Their child Mordredwill destroy him at the end of the book and so he is
punished for his sin. Thirdly Arthur s wife Guenever commits adultery with one of
his knights, Launcelot. Fate is a very eminent theme as well, as the future is often

For example, when Arthur sleeps with his sister Morgause and gets her pregnant with
Mordred, he dreams about serpents and dragons that wound him. Right before he
gets killed by Mordred, he dreams about them again, but this time they destroy
him. Dragons and serpents, in this case, symbolise destruction and the death of
Arthur (NoodГ©n 1992). The white brachet that ran in court with a lady on a
palfrey and a hart is one of these symbols as well. In medieval times, the brachet
was a symbol for love, which is why Tor is sent to fetch the brachet rather than
Gawaine or Pellinore, as they are not capable of loving the way Tor is (Dagg
1969). Finally the Questing Beast is an important animal symbol, symbolising a
meaningless quest. Sir Pellinore has to hunt it down, but it seems quite a useless
thing to do. This symbolises the way he does other quests, like when he has to find
the lady of the hart and brachet and refuses to help another lady in need. The quest
he is doing is made useless because of that, as he is not being chivalrous. In this case
the Questing Beast is a reflection of Pellinore s personality (Dagg
The New Zealand Rail Framework Essay
Background Information:
The New Zealand rail framework developed from partitioned beginnings made by
individual territories or business people from the 1860s onwards. Provincial
Treasurer and later Premier Sir Julius Vogel made rail a noteworthy board in his
system to build up the state in 1870.By 1880 New Zealand Railways (NZR) was
working more than 1,900 kilometers of track, and conveying just about 3 million
travelers and 830,000 tons of cargo a year. The principal half of the twentieth
century was a brilliant age for rail.

What Are The Seven Elements Of Art
One piece of artwork that I did that has all the seven elements of art was my animal
watercolor painting. The seven elements of art are line, shape, color, value, form ,
texture, and space. Somethings that these elements help with are make the
artwork more realistic. It can also help how realistic the details are and how it
looks three dimensional. The first element I used was line. Line helps you make a
outline of what you are trying to make. Line is the edges of a figure and it can be
made with a pen or pencil. A line can help how realistic you artwork can look. If you
make a line that is behind you figure at a certain angle it can make the shape seem
real. Line is very important to a drawing because it can show a lot of detail. Another
element that can help a piece of artwork is shape. Shape is a area enclosed by... Show

Texture can also help your artwork feel more realistic. I used texture in my
watercolor by painting little hairs on the wolf s body to show how it might feel. It
might feel like a furry rug or soft hair. Texture can help with your artwork because it
can help the viewer imagine the object in their mind. The final element is space.
Space can help show where the object is and you can also tell the setting from the
space around it. Space can also help your artwork because it can give detail about the
story behind of the artwork. In my watercolor painting the the space I used was to
show the the wolf was all by itself. It also shows how the land is barren and their is
nothing on it.
The Seven Elements of Art can help your pieces of artwork. Some examples of
elements that can help are texture. Texture can help by helping the viewer imagine
how the object feels. Another element that can help us form. Form can help your
drawing feel more three dimensional. All the seven elements help your artwork feel
more realistic and help improve your art
The Energy Star Certification On Home Prices
Despite the well documented benefits of above code certification programs like the
ENERGY STARВ® Certified New Homes Program, the question remains for many
home builders and buyers of how these benefits impact property value. This report
provides statistical analysis to quantify the impact of ENERGY STAR Certification
on home prices in the state of Maryland between 2010 and 2016. A regression model
was used to isolate the impact of the ENERGYSTAR Certification on the home value
and control for home characteristics. ENERGY STAR Certified homes were found
to have a statistically significant price premium ranging from 2.1% to 5.2% when
compared to non certified homes. These results are based on a sample of 2,723
ENERGY STAR homes taken from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

As energy and environmental awareness continues to grow, consumers are
recognizing residential energy efficiency as an easy, low cost way to optimize
energy use, financial resources, and occupancy comfort while reducing their
environmental impacts. The Shelton Group s Energy Pulse 2013 Report found
81% of consumers surveyed stated that energy efficiency would impact their home
purchasing decision . Echoing these findings, a recent 2014 report by McGraw
Hill Construction surveyed builders and found 73% of single family home builders
and 68% of multifamily builders agree that customers are willing to pay more for a
green home. In addition to this willingness to pay, 47% of single family builders and
59% of multifamily builders found green homes to be more marketable. This number
significantly increases to 65% for firms that construct more than 30% green projects
(McGraw Hill Construction, 2014) . Building certification programs, like the
ENERGY STARВ® Certified New Homes Program, have been created in response to
the consumer demand for more comfortable and efficient buildings.
Despite the growing popularity and the benefits of these programs, adoption of
above code certification have been dampened by the lack of empirical evidence and
the quantification of a price premium associated with these certifications. This paper
will address this problem and quantify the price premium of ENERGY STARВ®

Management is a universal concept because its principles and techniques are used all
over the world, irrespective of their level of development. The basic objective of the
management is the progress of people and not the direction of things. The
conservative explanation of management is obtaining work done through its people,

management should make the difficulties interesting and their solutions productive
for the team members so that everyone can deal with these situations. Management

The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas Comparative Essay
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas written by John Boyne (2006) and Life Is Beautiful
directed by Roberto Benigni (1997) are both texts about a family living through the
time period of WWII and the holocaust. Both texts utilize and approach the delicate
topic of WWII and the holocaust in different ways, which makes the audience react
and be affected differently. But which text was most effective for conveying the
events of the holocaust?
The Boy In The Striped Pyjamas is narrated from a child s perspective, which makes
the main character (Bruno) to innocent and ignorant to notice any signs of danger,
which leads to a lot of foreshadowing, and not a lot of detail. The reader has to
interpret what is happening and must have some knowledge of WWII and the
holocaust to understand the storyline. For example, when Bruno Shows Gretel
(Bruno s sister) the children outside his window that re behind a giant fence, the
reader has to interpret that Bruno s showing Gretel a concentration camp. The Boy In
The Striped Pyjamas is aso quite symbolic, an example of this symbolism would be
when Bruno and Shmuel die together within a gas chamber, which symbolises that

Unlike Life Is Beautiful, which has more of a humorous approach with a positive
atmosphere, which gives the audience a hopeful feeling towards Guido, and his
family surviving through the concentration camp, and also a feeling of denial when
Guido gets shot to death. Life Is Beautiful does a great job at conveying the events of
the holocaust with the approach it has done, and doesn t make the audience frustrated
or annoyed at the main character unlike Boy In The Striped Pyjamas with all the
Analysis Of Lizzie Borden
Fact has been suppressed by fiction, and the fiction is much more interesting to a lot
of people. Lizzie Borden, a thirty two year old daughter of Andrew Borden and step
daughter of Abby Borden, was accused of murdering her father and stepmother.
Lizzie Andrew Borden was innocent. She did not kill her father and stepmother for a
number of reasons. Lizzie Bordenwas innocent because there was no physical
evidence, she wasn t nervous during the investigations, and there was no reason for
her to kill them. Lizzie Borden was an innocent, desolate woman who deserved
better than being accused for a serious case. Lizzie Borden did not injure her father
and stepmother for the same reasons you wouldn t kill your parents.
You may think that the dress was burnt because of blood stains, not paint stains.
There is no way to figure that out. One reason why I believe Lizzie Borden was
innocent is because there was no physical evidence that Lizzie Borden was guilty.
There are only assumptions and theories. In the article, Lizzie Borden: Murderess
or Media Sensation?, it states, There was no physical evidence linking her to the
murders. A hatchet had been discovered in the basement of the Borden home, but
its blade was clean and the handle had been broken off. There are theories about
the prussic acid, the burnt dress stained by paint stains, and how there were no
footprints in the dirt by the barn, but there is could be an explanation for each of
those. The prussic acid could have actually been for the sealskin coat, the dress
could have actually been stained by paint, and the wind could have picked up dirt
and swept the footprints away. People just took everything and made it seem like
evidence, but nobody actually took a second to think; maybe Lizzie Borden was
actually telling the truth about the stuff she did. One person made an assumption and
all of a sudden, they had the entire world thinking the same thing.
Wouldn t you be scared if somebody was onto you if you murdered somebody?
Exactly. Another reason how I know Lizzie Borden is innocent is because during
Lizzie Borden s investigation, she was serene and wasn t nervous while the questions
were being asked. She gave the truth and talked like everything was
Essay On Out Patient Appointment
The prevalence of missed out patient appointment among patients being managed for
psychiatric disorders varies between studies conducted in different countries, and with
different study designs. Centorrino and co researchers63 evaluated attendance at an
adult psychiatric out patient clinic at a teaching hospital in Massachusetts between
April and June 1997. Within that period 896 appointments were scheduled for 62
patients, and a missed appointment rate of 9.3% was obtained. It was not stated if the
patients each had the same number of appointments within the study period. This
study was also not specific for any diagnostic group of patients. The patients had
different psychiatric diagnoses (major depressive disorder, bipolar disorder, substance
use disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, schizophreniaand
schizoaffective disorder). It has been shown that patterns of clinic attendance vary
between groups of patients with different psychiatric diagnoses.64,65 Also, since the
estimated prevalence must have been obtained for several... Show more content on

The rates of non attendance to the initial appointment (for new patients) or the first
appointment within the study period (for old patients) were 36% and 40%
respectively. Although the response rate of study participants was relatively low
(61%), and there may be limitations to generalizing the results to other geographical
locations, inner city areas have been shown to be areas of high psychiatric morbidity,
with inadequate mental health services at the community level.66 This is similar to
what obtains in psychiatric out patient settings in urban areas in developing countries

The Problem Of Nursing Shortage
Financial Solution With the problem of nursing shortage in the health care setting,
this can have a long term effect on the organization budget as a result of reduction in
the quality of care and overall outcome of the patient s health. The number of nursing
staff it takes for the facility to run effectively, should become a priority for the
organization. As the acuity level of the patient s entering the hospital continues to
rise, the number and skills of nursing staff should increase to meet the patient level of
care. Having lower numbers in nursing staff, can result in higher incidences of
hospital acquired pneumonia, urinary tract infection, decubitus and falls with injuries.
After conducting an interview with two co workers, there... Show more content on

As the acuity level of the patient s entering the hospital continues to rise, there is
inadequate nursing staff with the skills and time needed for the patient s as they
entered into the health care setting. The current nursing staff are overworked and
burnt out with performing the necessary duties to care for the patient. The
administrators within the hospital have to come up with a resolution for the current
rate of nursing shortage, especially during the between the months of November and
February. During this time, there are high incidences of the patients being admitted to
the hospital with community acquired pneumonia and influenza. The number skilled
and available nursing staff is less than the vision or expectation of the organization.
As a result of the nursing staff shortage, this results in another identifiable problem
within the organization such as higher incidence of falls incidences of falls on night
shifts and hospital acquired decubitus. This will affect the budget of the organization
because insurance companies will not pay for hospital acquired falls with the result
of an injury and decubitus. According to Mr. J.G. nursing shortage has always been
an issue since he has been employed at Lexington Medical Center. We have to utilize
agency nurses to fill in the needs on the unit. There are incentives
Eye Fatigue
David Warlick once said, We need technology in every classroom and in every
student and teacher s hand, because it is the pen and paper of our time, and it is the
lens through which we experience much of our world. But is that true? Technology is
not only costly, but it also hinders the student s health and grades. With the use of
technology, students are no longer learning cursive which is an essential part of their
learning. The health of the student is very important, especially if they want to do
well in their studies; however, it is difficult when they are staring at a tablet or
computer, in school, for more than a couple of hours. When the students stare at an
electronic device for too long, it causes eyefatigue due to the fact... Show more

It can divert the students from what is most important such as: paying attention to the
teacher, doing their homework, or playing an educational game, even if it is on the
internet. Also, the teacher can not monitor every student in class while explaining
directions or teaching. Furthermore, computers and tablets can not meet all the
students needs, since all students do not learn the same way, if they learn better
hands on or orally. Technology can also take away valuable time learning from the
teacher. So, why do we want to bring technology into the classrooms if it is
expensive, harms the students health mentally and physically, it s not helping them,
and students stop learning proper handwriting? However, this can be stopped!
Parents, who are in charge of their students, should gain more knowledge about this
and challenge the school board. Parents should also tell others, start a petition
against technology in classrooms and they should not only want safety for their
children but also for every else s kids. Their children are going to be the next
generation of obesity, health problems and learning challenges if the schools are
allowing more and more technology in the classrooms, which parents should be
concerned
The Mathematics Of Blood Alcohol Concentration
The Mathematics of Blood Alcohol Concentration
As I approached my sixteenth birthday, I began to study for my G1 written test in
order to receive my drivers licence. While doing a practice test, I came across a
statistic that stated, In the United States in 2013, it was estimated that 10 076
people were killed in crashes that involved one or more drunk drivers and 290 000
people were injured in these accidents . I had heard a variation of this statistic many
times, however I didn t truly grasp the magnitude of these numbers until I began to
reflect on the effects of driving under the influence. As a potential new driver, I was
concerned about the use of alcohol while driving so I began to wonder how toxins,
specifically alcohol, react within our bodies. I also wondered how, or even if, this
interaction could be represented through the use of mathematical analysis.
In my research I discovered for myself a field known as pharmacokinetics, which is a
branch of pharmacology that deals with the interactions of drugs in our bodies. In
pharmacokinetics, the interaction of alcohol with the body can be visually
represented using a concentration time graph, where the concentration can be
graphed as a function with respect to time in hours. The concentration in this case
refers to Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC), which is the amount of alcohol in
100 mL of blood with units, mg/100mL, or often expressed as a percent. BAC is a
means by which doctors can determine a person s
Type Two Diabetes Epidemic An Issue For The Pacifica...
Type 2 diabetes Why is having type two diabetes epidemic an issue for the pacifica
community? Type two diabetes is a huge problem in the pacifica institution, as
early studies have shown that while diabetes was virtually non existent in
populations aboriginal to the Pacific, maintaining a traditional lifestyle, this
position was true for the metropolitan pacific population. Statistics show that over
time type two diabetes prevalence has rapidly increased indigenously over time
within the pacifica community. There was also epidemiological evidence which
indicates that prevalence is generally lowest in traditional Pacific environment s or
in other words type two diabetes is most commonly found within the pacifica
community this is because of two main reasons which are genetics and lifestyle. It
is proven that Pacific people experience greater morbidity and more complications
than white people diagnosed with type two diabetes. Genetic factor alone cannot
yet prove or explain reasons to these patterns or as to why pacifica people
diagnosed with type two diabetes suffer more , or a more likely to have type two
diabetes than white people. Which are also due to rapid changes in lifestyle and risk
factors, such as unhealthy diets, obesity and physical inactivity that have become
widespread within the region. We now know that type two diabetes epidemic is a big
risk factor for our pacifica community, this leads to bad health habits and issues which
means genetically this could be
Pan Africanism and Marcus Mosiah Garvey Jr.
Marcus Mosiah Garvey, Jr was a Jamaican political leader who accomplished many
things within his lifetime. He was a well known publisher, entrepreneur, journalist,
Black Nationalist, as well as Pan Africanist. Pan Africanism is the idea that all
African American people possess a common cultural legacy extending from Africa. In
saying this, all African Americans should work together in maintaining the culture
and removing expatriate power.
Marcus Garvey was important because he aided in inspiring a mass movement
amongst African Americans. Garvey make efforts to show African Americans
economic empowerment meanwhile sharing the importance of taking part in politics
and have greater impacts. Along with these many accomplishments, his biggest
accomplishment was becoming the founder of the Universal Negro Improvement
Association and African Communities League in Jamaica. Garvey came to the
United States in 1916 and launched the New York Division of the UNIA the
following year. This association started off with merely thirteen members and
exponentially grew to approximately 3500 members. Garvey has reached new
heights of power within his career in the late 1920s when he headed an international
convention in Liberty Hall, containing frequent delegates in attendance from 25
countries. Garvey also led a parade of over 50,000 throughout all of Harlem. Marcus
Garvey travelled though many different places including a majority of Central
America, Europe, and the Caribbean where he

Biodiversity Essay

  • 1. Biodiversity Essay Crafting an essay on the subject of biodiversity can be a challenging endeavor, requiring a comprehensive understanding of ecological concepts, species interactions, and the intricate web of life on our planet. The complexity of the topic demands not only a grasp of scientific principles but also an ability to communicate these ideas effectively to a diverse audience. Researching for a biodiversity essay involves delving into various fields, from biology and environmental science to conservation and policy. One must navigate through a plethora of information, ensuring the inclusion of relevant and up-to-date data to present a well-informed perspective. Balancing the technical details with a narrative that engages the reader is crucial, making the essay both informative and captivating. Moreover, addressing the threats to biodiversity, such as habitat loss, climate change, and human activities, requires a delicate touch. The essay must convey a sense of urgency without overwhelming the reader, fostering an understanding of the interconnectedness between human activities and the health of our ecosystems. Furthermore, creating a compelling argument for the importance of biodiversity and the consequences of its decline involves synthesizing information from various sources, weaving a coherent narrative that emphasizes the value of preserving the rich tapestry of life on Earth. In conclusion, writing an essay on biodiversity demands a nuanced approach, blending scientific knowledge with effective communication skills. It is a task that requires dedication to research, thoughtful analysis, and the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and engaging manner. • 2. The Importance Of Word-Net-Use Clustering Performance WordNet In (Bouras and Tsogkas, 2012), the importance of WordNet hypernymy relationships is highlighted in enhancing K means clustering algorithm. Similar to the procedure prior to clustering process, an aggregate hypernym graph is generated to label a resulting cluster. The effect of other relationships, on the clustering performance, is not studied. Another Word Net based clustering method is presented in (Fodeh et al., 2011), where the role of nouns, especially polysemous and synonymous nouns in document clustering is investigated. A subset of core semantic features is chosen from disambiguated nouns through an unsupervised information gain measure. These core semantic features lead to admissible clustering results. The effect of... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (Motazedi et al., 2009) and (Lesk, 1986) introduce a bilingual translation machine called PEnTrans. A novel WSD method is proposed based on Lesk algorithm (Sarrafzadeh et al., 2011). In order to English to Persian translation, gloss, synset and ancestors in the radius of two hypernyms are extracted from WordNet, for each word s sense. Also the POS and WSD tags are included (extracted from extended WordNet). The authors developed a bilingual dictionary by translation WordNet senses into Persian. For Persian to English translation a combination of knowledge, rule and corpus based approaches are utilized and also grammatical roles of words are considered in the WSD. 5.SEMANTIC ANALYSIS USING FARSNET 5.1FarsNet Lexical Ontology The ontology is an abstract model of real world that demonstrates the concepts and the relations among them in a specific domain. This conceptual knowledge base has vital applications in semantic web, search engines, natural language processing, information retrieval, etc. The ontologies can be produced manually or in a semi automatic manner by the ontology engineering tools and knowledge acquisition methods (Darrudi et al., 2004). FarsNet is the first Persian WordNet (Shamsfard et al., 2010) which has been produced in NLP laboratory of Shahid Beheshti University, Iran. The first version of FarsNet includes 18000 Persian words organized in about 10000 synsets. The words are in three syntactic
  • 3. All Lives Matter In The 1500s All lives matter is a slogan that was created by social media, this network has served as a dreamer s defender as well as a movement for people to follow. This contradictory slogan has changed the way media has compelled violence and is a narrative of what our nation is supposed to be, an equal and free state. This slogan has opened up the eyes of our nation by proving that freedom is still a constant trouble. The notion that all lives matter is contradictory phrase in our nation due to the unfair laws and treaties created by our government. Our nation is saturated with racism since the begging of days, and we have demonstrated that not all lives matter . In this essay I will examine the concept all lives matter from the 1500 s through... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In 1622 a demand for Tabaco rised and Tabaco brides were wanted. Tabaco brides was the trading of Tabaco for women, these women s were being sold for 120 pounds worth of Tabaco, so much for all lives matter . Racewas among many kinds of legal and social inequality in colonial America and emerged as a convenient justification for slavery in a land that claimed to be committed to freedom (Foner GML, 279). As engrained in the US Constitution we the people is only referring to White Americans since the laws exempted every other race that isn t white. Take the Declaration of Independence for example, the anonymous author of a fourth of July speech said, where art thou now? tell us not of principles but of the injustice existence of slavery among us (Foner GMK 279). Colonization was also a big factor in the phrase all lives matter colonizers believed that slavery and racism was deeply embedded in America that blacks could never achieve equality and freedom (Foner, GML 444). Black and others indigenous groups carried a norm that gave them no hope to ever be granted the rights
  • 4. Petroleum As Vital For Human Existence As Water Austin Kiesewetter Mrs. Ioanna HCC English 3 Petroleum as Vital to Human Existence as Water From the development of the Industrial Revolution to the Information Age we live in today our civilization has been able to progress with the help of the Industrial Revolution s basic necessity known as petroleum. This resource is so valuable that it has been the reason of 6 global conflicts and the creation of a trillion dollar industry. James Buchan a Financial Times correspondent stated, A century ago, petroleum what we call oil was just an obscure commodity; today it is almost as vital to human existence as water. The uses petroleum have are relevant from transportation to everyday synthetic materials. It is the sole reasoning ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In order to keep up with demand, the United States has been forced to rely on importing 80% of its crude oil. This niche was filled from the creation of OPEC who uses price gouges to create an economic boom in their country, through unifying and controlling the industry. This economic boom produced by OPEC amounts to an annual 730 billion (U.S.) dollars. In order to fully understand the magnitude of power this organization has, we can compare their annual income to every country s GDP. After doing this we notice that OPEC would be the 20th wealthiest nation trumping 167 countries in the process. This fact is mind boggling because when we talk about GDP we are talking about the value of all the finished goods and services produced within a country. When we talk about OPEC we are talking about a single product which is crude oil. This is worrisome for many reasons, first and foremost being that countries who are not members of the organization don t want one organization controlling and monopolizing such a valuable resource. The effects of monopolizing a single product is the power of setting a single price that everyone else needs to follow. This is why America and other non OPEC countries deal with gouging oil prices. The reasoning for OPEC doing this is clear from ridiculous profit margins to political influence. The power that OPEC holds was never more prevalent than in the 1973 embargo on the U.S. and European nations over the Arab Israeli War. The
  • 5. Nature And Nature In Antonio Vivaldi s La Primavera My first work is La Primavera written by the Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi in 1723. La Primavera is one of four violin concertos, each capturing moods and illustrating stories related to a specific time of year. Each section within this movement illustrate the most beautiful scenes of the springseason, including birds, babbling brooks, and a thunderstorm. (Soomo). My second work is an oil on canvas painting, titled The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone by Thomas Moran. The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone was painted in 1872 and captures the unique geological formations and diverse and extravagant colors of the Midwestern United States landscape. The common theme shared by both of the chosen pieces of work is nature. Antonio Vivaldiembraces the spring season and captures the moods and illustrates stories specific to that time of year. Moran captured the true beauty of a Midwestern landscape of the United States. Although one work is musical piece and the other is a landscape painting, both capture the beauty of nature and the surrounding elements. 2. Audience Impact The theme of nature should impact any member of my audience. Although each artifact contains its own unique message, both pieces of art possess an underlying message of connecting with nature. For the audience, a deep connection with nature is offered through the artifacts as they are reminded of the inherent beauty that exists in the natural world. I feel the chosen topic of the presentation would be
  • 6. M1 contract law In this assignment I will be giving advice to Rick s girlfriend on whether she has a legal right to return the laptop that Rick bought for her. I will be analysing whether a valid contract was formed and who it was formed with. As Rick s girlfriend didn t buy the laptop and is under the age of 18 she wouldn t be able to return the laptop as there has been no contract formed with her. However we can assume that her boyfriend is over the age of 18 and as he bought the laptop this means the contract was formed with Rick instead of Rick s girlfriend. The type of contract that was formed with Rick was a standard form contract this is a type of a contract is a legally binding contract between two or more parties, in which one side of the party... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... So the court held that the waistcoats were not a necessity and therefore there was no valid contract formed between the minor and tailor. We can link this to Rick as when he bought the laptop, he intended to give the laptop to his girlfriend which means that when the contract was formed and if he was under the age of 18, the contract wouldn t be valid due to the fact that the laptop is not a necessity to him neither does it benefit him as he isn t using the laptop. But because we are assuming that Rick is over the age of 18 it would not matter whether the laptop was a necessity or a benefit to him as he can form a valid contract. When the contract was formed we are assuming that there was no misrepresentation. Misrepresentation is where a false statement of fact or law which induces the representee to enter a contract. From the scenario we can assume that there has been no misrepresentation. But if there had been any misrepresentation we would assume that s it innocent misrepresentation which is when the representor had reasonable grounds for believing that his or her false statement was true. But it is very unlikely that any had happened but if there had of been the shop wouldn t have known this as the box was sealed the only people who could of know that the laptop was damaged would be manufacturers. To conclude this assignment the advice I would give to Rick s
  • 7. Theme of Carpe Diem in A Fine, a Private Place by... The words carpe diem mean seize the day in Latin. It is a theme that has been used throughout the history of literature and has been a popular philosophy in teaching from the times of Socrates and Plato up to the modern English classroom. Carpe diem says to us that life isn t something we have forever, and every passing moment is another opportunity to make the most out of the few precious years that we have left. In the poems A Fine, a PrivatePlace by Diane Ackerman and To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell, carpe diem is the underlying theme that ties them together, yet there are still a few key differences throughout each of these two poems that shows two very different perspectives on how one goes about seizing their day.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The love between the two seems that it will be eternal. Time seems to stand still in this poem, seizing a moment between two lovers and accentuating it with nature s majesty. The second poem by Marvell isn t quite as flowing and pretty. Marvell writes about a man who is completely infatuated with a woman and must have sex with her before time catches up with them. The woman is shy and refuses the man, but he tells her that if he had all the time in the world, they would sit down, and think which way / To walk, and pass our long love s day (Lines 3 4) and she would sit by the Indian Ganges river and collect rubies while he sang her love songs by the side of the Humber river. His love for her is temporary however, feeding only on her physical attributes, whereas in Ackerman s poem, the love shown is precious and makes time stand still. In the next stanza he tells the woman that one day her beauty will no longer exist and that his echoing song (Line 27) will no longer sound in her marble vault (Line 26). He warns her to seize her opportunity to have sex with him right away before she dies a virgin and the worms devour her. The man in Marvell s poem says whatever he can think of to make his coy mistress sleep with him, anticipating throughout the entire poem that she will finally give in. She never does, and the poem ends in desperation and dissatisfaction. It seems as though Ackerman
  • 8. Effects Of Race Riots On Urban African Americans Urban Blacks were also encounter with extreme racial violence in neighborhoods and at work. Different ethnic groups of new immigrants obtained power and used conflict as a strategy of diminishing urban Blacks power level. They began blocking Urban Black workers going to work throughout new immigrant s neighborhoods. Race riots have played a crucial role in the social establishment of race, prejudice, and discriminationacross the United States. Race riots uncovered fundamental tensions in societies experiencing swift technological and economic changes. In 1920, there were many race riots and other violence in many places, such as Red Summer Race Riots of 1919 and the St. Louis Riot of 1917 that took place during the segregation in the South and the Black urban migration to the North. These race riots were response to the reality that Urban Blacks were carrying on a powerful struggle against White supremacy. During race riots, Urban Blacks lived through a renewed flow of riots, massacres, and racial terrorism. Before the race riots broke out in Chicago, tension between two communities were high and resulted 1919 Chicago Race Riot, which Black teenager called Eugene Williams swimming in Lake Michigan was stoned to death by White bystanders. His death caused one of the worst riots in American history because 37 people died, 500 injured and thousands left homeless. When the local police were called to the William s death, they refused to arrest the man who initiated the

  • 10. The Effects Of Unauthorized Migration On The United States Vicious Cycle Unauthorized migration in the United States has turned into a Vicious Cycle of adverse effects that sustain a system of underdevelopment, reduced productivity, low wage, and limited rights (Hinojosa, 2015). This is the reality of many migrants that leave their country of origin in search of economic mobility. The push factors that influence people s decision to migrate are primarily economic and security. Poverty, lack of employment, opportunities, and economic mobility along with high rates of violence and crime drive people out of their home countries which tend to be in the Global South and into the Global North where developed nations like the United States have pull factors that attract the excessive labor from developing nations. Demand for low skilled labor, higher paying wages, social and political stability, quality education, and greater wealth are some of the many qualities that make advanced nations the preferred destination. Therefore, everyone is figured to have different values because everyone goes through different life experiences. Values are the implicit and explicit ideas about what we cherish as ideal and preferable, (DuBois Miley, 2014, p 108). My personal values are honesty, social justice, equality, and service. There has been a situation within my life that made me valueeach one of those values. For example, I developed service as my value by seeing my cousin give service back to the community. I use to see him give clothing items and feed people within the community and the smile they had on their face was priceless. Social justice is also a value of mine because it specifically help people within the lower class. I think SNAP is a great example of how it helps them. However, when one genre is portrayed in cinema and in literature, it is easy to compare the two. Are they complementary or are they in opposition to each other? In terms of gothic cinema and literature, they are both complementary to one another. In the two movies, The Conjuring and The Skeleton Key, gothic cinema proves to go hand in hand with the style of textual gothic and they both show to have a strong aesthetic force. In the pieces of gothic literature, The Falls, The Book of Blood, and Amityville Horror, they are all very strong gothic pieces which all have a strong aesthetic force. In the movie, The Conjuring, gothic cinema proves to go hand in hand with the style of textual gothic and it has a strong aesthetic force. In this movie, it portrays many aspects of traditional gothic literature. For example, the element of the supernatural is the main part of this movie. • 23. A Child s Sense Of Self A child s sense of self as separate from the world is formulated early in development. Children exposed to early trauma, especially by a primary care giver, develop a distorted sense of the self, others, and the world. When exposed to trauma, children become overwhelmed and are unable to effectively self regulate thus leading to a disjointed sense of self. They have a tendency to lose hope and expect that life will be dangerous thus challenging their ability to survive (Terr, 1992). Survival becomes the predominant drive for children exposed to trauma and their focus becomes toward responding and adapting to a potentially threatening environment. Feelings of trust and the sense of self become compromised as resources are allocated toward coping with threats. Traumatized children experience guilt and low self esteem and perceive themselves as unlovable and unworthy of protection or love (Johnson, 1985, 1987). The core concept of an individual is largely influenced by one s ability to regulate internal emotional states and one s behavioral reactions to external stress. Children who experience trauma have difficulty managing their emotional states thus leading to poor perceptions of themselves. A distorted sense of self can potentially lead to loss of autobiographical memories, poor body image, and disturbances in sense of separateness in which the person may appear detached and distant (Carr, 2012). It may also lead to difficulty with impulse control which includes aggression

News of this attack was revealed to Churchill through FW Winterbotham, a British Royal Air Force officer who supervised the distribution of ULTRA intelligence (Winston Churchill). Ages that symptoms begin, normally vary due to what type of disorder the person has. The main problem with lysosome diseases are that they are genetically inherited. Which means, that mothers and fathers genetically carry some type of disorder and pass it down to their children. Because of this being caused by genetics, symptoms will normally begin based upon what type of disorder that is inherited. Which makes it hard to know at what age symptoms will

  • 35. Telescopes Are Those That Use Both Mirrors And Lenses Catadioptric: Catadioptric telescopes are those that use both mirrors and lenses to produce an image. The most common or popular type of catadioptric telescope is the Schmidt Cassegrain telescope. Schmidt Cassegrain telescopes (SCT) are a catadioptric design, meaning they use both lenses and mirrors. SCTs are primarily reflecting telescopes, but they use a corrector lens to eliminate aberrations that would result from the mirror design alone. In an SCT the incoming light passes through the Schmidt corrector lens (also called a corrector plate) at the front of telescope. It is reflected from a concave primary mirror at the back of the scope which focuses the light to the front of the telescope where it is reflected again by a smaller, convex secondary mirror. Finally, the light travels back through a hole in the primary mirror to the rear of the scope where an eyepiece is located for visual observing. (Starizona.com, 2015) Below is a ray diagram of a Schmidt Cassegrain telescope: (A levelphysicstutor.com, 2015) At first it seems that an SCT should have a focal length twice as long as the length of the tube, since the light travels twice the length of the tube. However, SCTs actually have focal lengths about 5 times longer than the tube length. This is due to the convex curvature of the secondary mirror. This effectively magnifies the focal length, making the scope act much longer than it is. The diagram below shows how a Cassegrain type telescope (such as an SCT)

  • 40. The Importance Of Public School And Public Schools Public schools provide an environment where young people can discover who they are meant to become. John Holt s essay, School Is Bad For Children emphasizes the ways the public school system destroys a student s imagination and willingness to learn. This is not the case for every school. Schools are often a safe place for students to learn not only the academic material but, they are also places for students to develop their talents while building a strong support system. The government can not regulate every schoolto make sure each student is getting exactly what each student deserves. While the generic system is easy to maintain and to teach, there is no guarantee learning is occurring for the students. Public schools help each student navigate their own minds by providing a general educationby which the students can choose what they do with their knowledge after they graduate. Without conventional public schooling, many students would not have the chance to learn, schools can provide an adequate education regardless of the location of teaching, and public schools are safe places for children with unidealistic family lives. In the United States of America the gap between upper and lower class is growing and public education provides an outlet from poverty. The amount of Americans living in the middle class is decreasing. If the US decided to change the public school system and reform schools to be exactly how Holt describes, only the wealthy would be able to afford

The white brachet that ran in court with a lady on a palfrey and a hart is one of these symbols as well. In medieval times, the brachet was a symbol for love, which is why Tor is sent to fetch the brachet rather than Gawaine or Pellinore, as they are not capable of loving the way Tor is (Dagg 1969). Finally the Questing Beast is an important animal symbol, symbolising a meaningless quest. Sir Pellinore has to hunt it down, but it seems quite a useless thing to do. This symbolises the way he does other quests, like when he has to find the lady of the hart and brachet and refuses to help another lady in need. The quest he is doing is made useless because of that, as he is not being chivalrous. In this case the Questing Beast is a reflection of Pellinore s personality (Dagg

Lizzie Borden did not injure her father and stepmother for the same reasons you wouldn t kill your parents. You may think that the dress was burnt because of blood stains, not paint stains. There is no way to figure that out. One reason why I believe Lizzie Borden was innocent is because there was no physical evidence that Lizzie Borden was guilty. There are only assumptions and theories. In the article, Lizzie Borden: Murderess or Media Sensation?, it states, There was no physical evidence linking her to the murders. A hatchet had been discovered in the basement of the Borden home, but its blade was clean and the handle had been broken off. There are theories about the prussic acid, the burnt dress stained by paint stains, and how there were no footprints in the dirt by the barn, but there is could be an explanation for each of those. The prussic acid could have actually been for the sealskin coat, the dress could have actually been stained by paint, and the wind could have picked up dirt and swept the footprints away. One person made an assumption and all of a sudden, they had the entire world thinking the same thing. Wouldn t you be scared if somebody was onto you if you murdered somebody? Exactly. The health of the student is very important, especially if they want to do well in their studies; however, it is difficult when they are staring at a tablet or computer, in school, for more than a couple of hours. When the students stare at an electronic device for too long, it causes eyefatigue due to the fact... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It can divert the students from what is most important such as: paying attention to the teacher, doing their homework, or playing an educational game, even if it is on the internet. Also, the teacher can not monitor every student in class while explaining directions or teaching. Furthermore, computers and tablets can not meet all the students needs, since all students do not learn the same way, if they learn better hands on or orally. Technology can also take away valuable time learning from the teacher. So, why do we want to bring technology into the classrooms if it is expensive, harms the students health mentally and physically, it s not helping them, and students stop learning proper handwriting? However, this can be stopped! Parents, who are in charge of their students, should gain more knowledge about this and challenge the school board. Parents should also tell others, start a petition against technology in classrooms and they should not only want safety for their children but also for every else s kids. Their children are going to be the next generation of obesity, health problems and learning challenges if the schools are allowing more and more technology in the classrooms, which parents should be concerned
  • 51. The Mathematics Of Blood Alcohol Concentration The Mathematics of Blood Alcohol Concentration As I approached my sixteenth birthday, I began to study for my G1 written test in order to receive my drivers licence. While doing a practice test, I came across a statistic that stated, In the United States in 2013, it was estimated that 10 076 people were killed in crashes that involved one or more drunk drivers and 290 000 people were injured in these accidents . I had heard a variation of this statistic many times, however I didn t truly grasp the magnitude of these numbers until I began to reflect on the effects of driving under the influence. As a potential new driver, I was concerned about the use of alcohol while driving so I began to wonder how toxins, specifically alcohol, react within our bodies. I also wondered how, or even if, this interaction could be represented through the use of mathematical analysis. In my research I discovered for myself a field known as pharmacokinetics, which is a branch of pharmacology that deals with the interactions of drugs in our bodies. In pharmacokinetics, the interaction of alcohol with the body can be visually represented using a concentration time graph, where the concentration can be graphed as a function with respect to time in hours. The concentration in this case refers to Blood Alcohol Concentration (BAC), which is the amount of alcohol in 100 mL of blood with units, mg/100mL, or often expressed as a percent. BAC is a means by which doctors can determine a person s
  • 52. Type Two Diabetes Epidemic An Issue For The Pacifica... Type 2 diabetes Why is having type two diabetes epidemic an issue for the pacifica community? Type two diabetes is a huge problem in the pacifica institution, as early studies have shown that while diabetes was virtually non existent in populations aboriginal to the Pacific, maintaining a traditional lifestyle, this position was true for the metropolitan pacific population. Statistics show that over time type two diabetes prevalence has rapidly increased indigenously over time within the pacifica community. There was also epidemiological evidence which indicates that prevalence is generally lowest in traditional Pacific environment s or in other words type two diabetes is most commonly found within the pacifica community this is because of two main reasons which are genetics and lifestyle. It is proven that Pacific people experience greater morbidity and more complications than white people diagnosed with type two diabetes. Genetic factor alone cannot yet prove or explain reasons to these patterns or as to why pacifica people diagnosed with type two diabetes suffer more , or a more likely to have type two diabetes than white people. Which are also due to rapid changes in lifestyle and risk factors, such as unhealthy diets, obesity and physical inactivity that have become widespread within the region. We now know that type two diabetes epidemic is a big risk factor for our pacifica community, this leads to bad health habits and issues which means genetically this could be
