shortage. Due to these abiotic and biotic stressors, and extensive amount of research
has been conducted and is still being conducted to minimize the negative effects. In
the following sections will be an overview of the abiotic and biotic factors along
with the crops response to each, as well as the genetic mechanisms studied to
improve a crops ability to cope with these stressors.
