How Modern Myths Affect Society
Modern Myths For the past 6 weeks we have learned about modern myths and how they affect society
in our everyday lives. In this paper you will see the topics that we focused on and what we learned of
how these challenges impose on our societies. The first myth that we all know is society s definition of
image. Every day millions of people in society look in the mirror and hate what they see. Many starve
themselves get plastic surgery cake on layer of makeup just too try to accept themselves. The reason
we do this is because of the picture that that media and society shows us. We think that if we don t
look like the people in the magazine s with everything perfect then we are not good enough and feel
like we need to change ourselves to be accepted. People spend thousands of dollars on makeup
different clothes and other thing to try and make us be more like the picture perfect person and it is
wrong. Body dysmorphia is a condition when a person who will never accept their body for what it is.
More than 200,000 cases of it are found in society every year. It is most common in ages between 14
41. People with this condition will take huge steps to change because they will never accept their body
for how it is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Like in my own life when I first start things I am not the best at them. It s the persisting and dedication
to keep growing is what will help you get better and achieve a higher level of intelligence. You have to
put your mind to it and practice a whole bunch in order to grow. Like with Albert Einstein, he had a c
average grade average in high school. But over time he progressed and progressed and is now known
as one of the if not the smartest person ever to live. If he would have gave up and thought that he
could never change he wouldn t have. But since he was determined he is remembered for his
intelligence. Just like us if we put our mind to things we can and will achieve great things in the

History Of The Stonewall Riots
Barely minutes after 3 AM on June 28th 1969, what had been a police raid on a known LGBT club
located in New York, known as the Stonewall Inn turned violent. Outside, hundreds of protesters and
sympathizers began rioting against the sudden police force. While the NYPD had been justified in
closing down the club, the events which would follow over the next six days would go on to spark
revolution, and establish the LGBT movement for gay civil rights. It is inevitably because of these
protests that the LGBT community has the rights and freedom that they have today. However, the
Stonewall Riots are not as recognized as a copious amount of protests and revolts, and are a severely
underrated historical event, which resulted in the removal of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Shortly after this act, practicing sexual deviants enlisted within the U.S Civil Service had been
immediately fired after an investigation consisting of 192 suspects, most of which lost their posts after
the accusations. These investigations began after a myriad of Republican accusations saying that the
Federal civil service was a hotbed of sex perversion , (Belderman, The Observer ), and were initiated
by then President Truman s administration. During this time, the ownership of an alcohol license was
immensely important, and could be revoked upon recognition that the bar was disorderly . Up until the
year 1967, selling alcohol to homosexuals could result in a bar being deemed disorderly, thus closing
it down. While the state of New York overturned this law, a multitude of other states such as Miami
maintained them, hence prohibiting the liquor licenses to, knowingly sell to, serve to or allow
consumption of alcoholic beverages by a homosexual person, lesbian or pervert ... or to knowingly
allow two or more persons who are homosexuals, lesbians or perverts to remain in his place of
business . However, the removal of this law in New York did not stop the constant raids on rumoured
gay bars and clubs, resulting in the abolishment of these businesses alcohol licenses, and the arrest of
countless individuals found inside. Those arrested thought to be gay had their names published in
reports and newspapers, ensuing a possible job loss the following

Stained Glass Art Analysis
The piece of art that stuck out to me the most was the stain glass window about the virtues of love and
charity. However, I am very biased towards this piece of artwork because I helped make it for our
group window in Stained Glass. I really like this piece because I understand how much work and
effort is involved in its creation. While Sr. Kelly picked the virtues of the window, love and charity,
the creative process was entirely our own. We all brainstormed ideas of what these virtues looked like.
For some, a dove, a rose, or a tree represented love and charity. On the other hand, specific colors
represented these virtues. In the end, we collaborated our ideas into one design focused on love as an
open door (because someone unoriginally stole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After the window was finished, Sr. Kelly complimented us on our accomplishment and appraised the
window s value to be $600, which astounded me. However, I think the value of this window extends
far beyond its monetary value. I love that stained glass art is permanent and that the window belongs
to the school because it represents the lasting impact I made at SHA. When the light shines directly
through the window, it becomes alive and the names of everyone in my class glitter in gold letters at
the bottom of the window. This window will become one of many in a virtues collection over the
years and my name will forever be etched on the first window, which offers a subtle reminder for SHA
girls to think of their sisters that came before and paved the way for new opportunities like stained
glass. In addition, I am glad that this window in particular will remain at the school because I don t
think I could part with my other windows in which I actually had control over the color scheme and
glass selection. Although, the window did not depict exactly what I wanted, it clearly showed the
virtues of love and charity, which unite us

Why Did Islam Spread Quickly Dbq Analysis
In 610 CE, a merchant named muhammad was meditating in a cave on mount. Hira found in the
Arabian Peninsula when the archangel Gabriel came with a message for muhammad telling him to
believe in the one and only true god Allah, therefore creating the religion of Islam. Over the years
Islam grew but Islam spread much more quickly than other religions, but why? Some historians
believe that it spread quickly because of military conquest, while others are certain it was because of
trade routes all around the 3 continents. Then again it could have also been because of
treaties, taxes, and tolerations. Military Conquest,Treaties and Taxes and Tolerations, and trade routes
were the 3 most believed reasons on why Islam spread so fast. Trade Routes might have been the most
explainable reason for the quick growth of Islam. Trade routes(doc A) might have been the most
important part of the quick spread of Islam because since they reached over from the arabian

everyone. This treaty was written and signed by the king of spain, Theodmir and the commander of

Abstract Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) play main role in the design and development of the
Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) who improves the road safety and transportation productivity.
VANETs include two communication types i.e. Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Roadside
(V2R) communications. One of the most important challenges of this kind of network are the timely,
safely and reliable dissemination of messages between vehicular nodes which permits the drivers to
take appropriate decisions to improve the road safety. There are many routing protocols for VANETs
which can support the reliability and safety for routing. These protocols undergo the several
limitations including complexity, lack of scalability, end to end delay, routing overheads, etc. To
remove these limitations, various bio inspired methodologies have been proposed for routing among
vehicular nodes in an optimized way. Here in this paper, various bio inspired routing algorithms for
the VANET are discussed.

Soviet Aggression And Its Effects On The World War II
Introduction
At the beginning of 1930s, the international system changed. There have been significant changes in
all capitalist countries and, as a result of it, the undemocratic leaders get the power, for example Nazi
Regime. The following regime was an exact cause of all upcoming conflicts, especially after elections
of 1933 in Germany, when Hitler came to power. According to a fast moving Nazi aggression across
Germany and Italy, the USSR government decided to come up with a new way of domestic affairs.
The USSR was concerned on not involving itself in any world conflict, especially war. The
cooperation with the Western democratic countries in order to control the aggression of Nazi regimes,

Article 231, also well known as the War Guilt Article, was the starting clause of the payment part of
the Treaty of Versailles, which stopped the First World War between the German Empire and the
Allied Associated Powers. The article provided a legal background to enforce Germany to pay
compensations for the war.
Clause 231 was one of the most argumentative bit of the treaty. It stated:
The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and Germany accepts the responsibility of Germany
and her allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associated Governments and
their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon them by the aggression
of Germany and her allies.
Germans considered this article as a ethnic abasement, imposing Germany to take entire responsibility
for causing the conflict. German legislators tried to encounter the article verbally in an attempt to
create international affinity, while German annalists were focused on undermining the article with an
aim of overturning the entire pact. The Allied rulers were astonished with the German attitude, they
found the clause as the only a crucial juridical base to get reimbursement from Germany.

Education

Education, the foundation of our society and one of the major industries in the United States. Through
the diverse amount of views on postsecondary education there have been major debates on whether
college is even worth attending. As small children you are often brought up to think of college as the
ideal place for you to go after high school, without hearing the other large array of options, including
enlisting in the military, and going straight into the workforce. However, does this mean that college is
not worth going to? No, for many individuals it is the ideal place to learn, evolve and transfer into the
working society. Getting a post secondary education helps you socially, economically, and ... Show

why it is so crucial to attend if you want to be successful and have a more secure financial future.
They state that (The earnings gap between young adults) a sign of the growing value of a college
education despite rising tuition costs one of the major reasons why people fight against the value of
college is the tuition costs. But over a lifetime is 100 thousand dollars worth the extra money that you
will make yearly and the financial security? Pews vice president, Paul Taylor claims that In today s
knowledge based economy, the only thing more expensive than getting a college education is not
getting one, just one of the many successful individuals who agree that college is worthwhile. This
article also explains that on average college graduate generally make $17500 more than a high school
graduate. Also later explaining how the earnings of high school graduates has decreased by $3000
yearly. These college graduates higher incomes alleviate the amount of college educated individuals
relying on government programs. In an article by Jamie P. Marisotis, the president and CEO of the

Alternate Ending Of A Short Story Essay
Pendragon s hammer struck the iron handle of his chisel one last time. As the subdued clink of metal
on metal reverberated through the room, a single sliver of ivory fell from the masterpiece. Surveying
the now finished harp, Pendragon let a satisfied sigh escape his lips. Like a horse who has pulled loads
for a lifetime and has finally been brought to the paddock, contentment settled over him.
Years previous, he sailed to Egypt to find the best ivory; he joined caravans of jewel sellers to pick out
the finest pieces; he travelled to the gold mines of Persia to purchase the purest ore. All he brought
back to Macedonia, after months of travel and little rest. Shut up in the house of his father, who had

You know, I honestly can t remember the last time I had a proper one.
Well, if you can pay the price I d be happy to divest you of that over grown mat.
Hereupon, Pendragon pulled out several coins imprinted with the head of Philip the second and
handed them to the barber.
I haven t seen coins like these very often since King Philip died.
When was that?
Eight years ago, where have you been that the passing of the king of Macedon is such news to you?
Oh, well, I ve just been on a small hermitage, I guess.
The barber went about his work with a look of puzzlement at Pendragon. He proceeded to fill
Pendragon in on the details of Alexander s ascension and his conquests. But even Alexander had since

passed without his knowledge?
But tell me, good barber, what is the state of the arts?
The arts? Nobody cares about the arts anymore.

Gender Discrimination In Sports
Gender discrimination in the sports industry has always been a controversial topic. Gender equality in
sports has come a long way. Like when UNESCO recognized sports and physical activity as a human
right in 1978. Discrimination is defined as unjust treatment of different categories of people or things.
Discrimination towards people has been around for a long time and it s affecting the entire world and
has taken large steps towards being demolished. These large steps have been taken to make the world
a better place and a lot of these discriminations have gotten smaller over time, but many of these are
still seen in everyday life, unfortunately. Discrimination against females has been a constant battle due
to the world being extremely male dominant. Women have had to fight against discrimination for
many things, such as freedom of speech, the right to vote, and equal rights to work. Women were
expected to be stay at home parents, taking care of the cleaning and housekeeping, and raising the
kids, and were not allowed to be on the workforce, do things they enjoy, or even get a little freedom.
Female discrimination in sports is a common issue all around the world, women are seen as not as
good as males, equality in sports is unequal, and the amount of pay and media coverage is different for
each sport and gender. We believe in making sure that women have the equal opportunity to enjoy the
benefits of sports by tackling sexism in sports at all levels. This includes challenging

Becoming A Teacher At A Private School
.
Research into this career has expanded my knowledge excessively. Such as, there is a process which
has steps to becoming a teacher. Step one includes, learning about the education system. Step two is
to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for someone who does
not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the correct specialty; in my case
art. Step five, gain classroom experience. Step six, qualify for certification. Then, step seven, get
hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional expectations, benefits and teaching contracts.
Finally step ten, the first year of teaching.
The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference
between them. When attempting to become a teacher at a private school, it may not be required to
have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local,
federal and state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging from
kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools when accepted and charged a tuition.
On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught follows
national and state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing. There is a limit
for age, from kindergarten to twelfth grade; and when students become enrolled, they stay until a
certain age or grade. There are a

future were the Heian era of Aristocracy and the Kamakura period of Samurai. The Heian era and the
Kamakura period are interesting because of their differences in social structure, tradition, and culture.
In the Heian era, the aristocrat s social class was sought by many because of their social and cultural
status. When the warrior rise in the Kamakura age the social classes change dramatically between

In 1159, Kiyomori of the Taira clan was victorious over the Minamoto clan. Kiyomori murdered all
the adults of the Monamoto clan and forced the children into exile. The emperor rewarded Kiyomori
victory by giving him an advisor position in the government. This event was significant because
Kiyomori was the first warrior in Japan s government. Like the Fujiwara family, Kiyomori desired a
royal bloodline within the Taira clan. So the Taira clan consorted with the imperial family in efforts to
secure an imperial bloodline. Later, Kiyomori obtain a higher government position and more
importantly a grandson was born and is heir to the throne. Feeling cheated an imperial prince sought
the exiled Minamoto to overthrow the Taria clan. In 1180, Yoritomo of the Minamoto clan formed an
army and battled with Taira clan that is known as the Genpei War. Eventually, Kiyomori died and the
Taria clan shortly declined after him. During these battles warriors ran amok pillaging the Japan s
cuntryside. To end the chaos and violence the imperial turned to Yoritomo. Yoritomo in return raise an
army of samurais and took complete control of the government and transformed it into a military
government. The Kamakura government consisted of the emperor, shogun, and the house men. The

The Cold Heavy Oil Production With Sand
A methodology has been developed for making low compressive strength cores that will be used to
experimentally examine the Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS) process occurring in
unconsolidated oil reservoirs. The main objective is to experimentally model wormhole (high
permeability channel) development during CHOPS and investigate the effect of various flow
parameters such as core permeability and porosity, compressive strength, oil/water viscosity contrast,
confining pressure and injection rate. Modeling the wormhole development and propagation will
enable us be able to developing approximate Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) curves.
Sands blends have been developed by varying the ratios of aggregate, cementing material and water to
prepare synthetic cores of compressive strength, permeability and porosity ranging from 500 1500 psi,
0.5 1.5 Darcy and 20 30% respectively. Experimental setup is developed to simulate wormhole
propagation during CHOPS process. In this process water is injected at varying range of 0.1 to 10
ml/min using a syringe pump into floating piston accumulator to drive the oil ahead of piston to 2 x 4
synthetic core in core holder at a confining pressure of 500 1500 psi. The differential pressure across
the core is monitored throughout the process. LabVIEW is used for data acquisition, instrument
control, measurement analysis and data presentation.

Regulating Drugs Market
Regulated Market for Illegal Drugs
Drugs are a medicine or substance that has physiological effect. They can be used as a medication, or
for recreational, and even spiritual and religious use. Some drugs can be a great thing, like the ones
used to treat simple pains like headaches to things like deadly diseases to ease a person s pain or even
cure the disease. Drugs that can have a detrimental effect on a person s health or welfare are
considered a controlled substance. This means that these drugs are regulated by the state and federal
governments. Meaning if a person caught with a controlled substance they can be fined or and even
put in jail. Not all controlled substances are illegal, some are prescribed to the general public from
pharmacies ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
By doing this the governments created the prohibition laws. Based on wikipedia the prohibition of
drugs through sumptuary legislation (laws that attempted to regulate consumption) and religious laws
(ethical and moral codes taught by religious traditions) is a common means of attempting to prevent
the recreational use of certain recreational drugs and other intoxicating substances. Activities that
governments looked at as undesirable were put into prohibition. Theses included smoking, drinking,
gambling, drugs, and prostitution. These prohibitions led to criminal underworlds battling against
police states, in which the public never benefited from. During the prohibition of alcohol in the years
of 1920 1933 even though the consumption and the sale of alcohol was illegal it was still being made,
but the quality of the liquor was not that good and people ended up with methanol poisoning which
led to blindness and even death. There was also a story of how the U.S. government poisoned alcohols
intended for industrial use killing an estimate of 10,000 people. The global war on drugs endorsed by
the United Nations is 55 years old. Early anti narcotic laws emerged in the 19th century to control the
trade in opium and later more drugs that people used and abused as a medicine or for recreational use.

Environmental Effects Of Plastic Pollution
Plastic pollution is all over this world. People purchase plastic almost everyday, even if someone does
not realize they are purchasing this synthetic product, most of the time the item s packaging is made of
plastic. Even cleaning products and clothes contain plastic. When plastic was man made the only
thought was the benefits it can create, the deficits were not thought of. Humans and animals are being

Process Essay On Unfamiliar Vehicle Driving
As a driver, there is a good chance that at some point you will need to drive an unfamiliar vehicle.
Whether you are renting a car, borrowing a friend s vehicle, or test driving a vehicle, being able to
safely operate an unfamiliar vehicle is important, and there are several steps you can take to driver
safer when operating an unfamiliar vehicle.
Ask the owner or another driver who knows the vehicle well to explain any unusual features.
Familiarize yourself with the vehicle before taking it on any major roads. This is especially important
for a new driver or for someone who has driven the same vehicle for a long time and does not have
experience driving an assortment of vehicles. This may mean driving it around the parking lot a few
times ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Test the brakes before you need them. You may need to hit them sooner or harder than you would with
your usual vehicle. In some cases, the brakes may require less pressure than your normal vehicle.
Understanding the brakes before you take off can help you to apply the right pressure at the right time.
If you are driving a larger vehicle, create a larger pocket of space around your vehicle than you think
you need. If you normally drive a smaller vehicle, you may misjudge the size of your larger vehicle.
You may need to turn off the radio and eliminate other distractions when driving an unfamiliar
vehicle.
If the vehicle has a manual transmission and you have only driven an automatic, make sure someone
teaches you how to drive a manual transmission before you attempt to take it on the road. Empty
parking lots and rural roads are often good choices for learning to drive a manual transmission vehicle.

Thin Client Computer Lab Project
Introduction Computers are an integral part of 21st century life, and as such technology education is
recognized as part of the Illinois Learning Standards (ISBE, 2008). A computer lab is an efficient way
to deliver access to computers and the Internet to students. Traditional labs, like the one at Dvorak
Technology Academy, are populated with complete, standalone computer systems. In network terms
these are fat clients , because each workstation is a complete system, with its own memory and disk
space and performing most if not ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A thin client lab will allow Dvorak to extend its financial resources by saving on new computer
resources and extending the life of existing assets. In addition, computer lab fat clients require
substantial maintenance to keep the systems in working order. While CPS s computer support systems
help with this task through programs like Deep Freeze, routine hardware maintenance as well as
software installs and updates not covered by CPS can be a significant drain on technology coordinator
resources. A thin client architecture can reduce the workload of the technology coordinators by
centralizing management and reducing the kinds of workstation maintenance that needs to be done.
Finally, thin client networks are very scaleable. If, in the future, web based applications or
productivity applications require more processing power than is currently available in the lab,
additional servers can be added to the system to handle the added load instead of upgrading all of the
workstations. As classroom desktop computers are upgraded, the older classroom machines can be
used as additional workstations in the lab, or replace failing lab systems, or deployed in a new lab.

The Quarry
Alex sat in his car staring at the tailgate of Shayla s Chevy Luv becoming blurry in seconds of
downpour distorting his windshield before the wipers squeaked across. The wipers squeaked as
seconds ticked by.
He put his old Ford Escort in reverse and backed out of the gravel lot onto the road. Shifting into drive

highway down to Eugene to hunt for an alibi.
Alex had taken Shayla on the most embarrassing date in that car. Other cars were honking and passing

The Hedge Fund Of Hedge Funds
Hedge funds are generally described as being private investment vehicles for wealthy, private and
secluded investors, prearranged with limited partnership. Partners of most hedge funds dedicate their
personal wealth into the fund to ensure personal interest and dedication to the fund. This hedge fund
structure continues to be a dominant organizational setup in the financial industry. Albert Wislow
Jones is known as the father of hedge funds, creating the first one in 1949 that used what is known as
short long equity strategies and leverage to thrive in the economic world. He initially raised $100,000
for the fund and $40,000 came out of his own pocket. By short selling other stocks, he originated this
idea of minimizing risk. He changed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Robertson s strategy was to place high bets on the most promising stocks and short sell what he
thought as the worst possible stocks to invest in. Unfortunately, the ratio between the yen and USD
began to strengthen and Tiger Management was struggling, losing investors quickly. At the end of the
reign of Tiger Management, it was down to only $8 billion in management. After Tiger had been shut
down, all of the traders Robertson had trained went to major hedge funds. Robertson helped start the
career of these traders, known as Tiger Cubs , by providing early investment money to 40 of the world
s biggest hedge funds today.
However, there is a more important hedge fund that almost caused the entire financial system to fail.
Before there was Long Term Capital Management, there was Salomon Brothers. Salomon Brothers

What factors lead to the rise of the pictorial poster
What factors lead to the rise of the pictorial poster? When looking at what factors lead to the rise of
the pictorial poster, it is clear to see that the majority of them occurred in late nineteenth century Paris
and that perhaps one man, Jules Chéret, can be thanked for exploiting and mastering the techniques
which made these posters reach the levels of respect previously reserved for the fine arts. As well as
Jules Chéret and his mastery of lithography I will be exploring the influence of Japan and their
printing techniques upon Toulouse Lautrec as well as Baron Georges Eugene Haussmann s renovation
of Paris during its Second empire, the impacts of the rising middle class, and the effects that tax had
upon the walls of Paris. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

ease. As stated by Jane Abdy in The French Poster what makes a great Chéret is the personification of
gaiety in his posters .... the laughing, twirling, sparkling girl whom he uses as a model; the Parisians
adored her , and called her La Cherette (abdy, 1969, p.31) In Les affiches illustr ees Maindron a
section from The French Poster by Jane Abdy, Ernest Maindron talks about that when posters were
very successful, it was often reproduced in a small version so that collectors could have them. A daily
newspaper Le courriere francias made special printings of Chéret posters in a convenient size (22 x14
) as presents to their subscribers (Abdy, 1969, p.171) However, the size of posters not only affected
legibility and who could own them, it also affected the amount of tax placed upon them. All posters
which were to be placed in the streets would be subjected to a government tax. This was varied
according to size; the rate was 6 centimes for the ¼ colombier, 12 centimes for the ½ colombier, 18
for the jesus and the colombier and 24 centimes for all large posters. (Abdy, 1969, p.171) when this
levy was paid, the poster was stamped and approved to be hung in the streets. Figure 3 Hiroshige

Csi vs. Ncis
The main difference of the two TV shows, CSI and NCIS, is that CSI consists murders of the general
public and NCIS consists of only military based murders. Both TV shows are unrealistic compared to
the real world. CSI shows how dangerous the job can be by agents getting killed in a crime scene,
which also shows how it can affects the investigations. NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigation Service),
on the other hand, is a real government agency that only focuses on crimes that involve the military
and the show NCIS is deals with many of the same cases as the real life agency. In my opinion, the
more realistic show between CSI and NCIS would be NCIS. The show CSI is unrealistic to the real

At a crime scene, you must first, identify and secure the scene and also check the life of any victims
found at the scene. Second, preserve the evidence by taping the perimeter of the scene and using
guards to restrict the scene to authorized personnel only and also they must establish the entrance and
exit paths, effects of the weather, and isolate witnesses and possible suspects. Third, the first one to the
crime scene must observe the scene by walking through. Fourth, the scene must be released to higher
personnel to investigate the crime. Fifth, they must record the scene by taking pictures, sketching, or
taking very detailed notes. Sixth, the evidence found must be marked and must have a picture taken of
it. While watching NCIS, I felt the actors really get into their characters. For example, Abby, the
forensic scientist, is really good at what she does and almost seems as though she s an actual forensic
scientist in real life. While watching CSI, I felt that the actors were just acting and it made it hard to

Dr Heidegger s Experiment Symbolism
Nathaniel Hawthorne, born in 1804, was a Dark Romanticist known for his writing about the sins and
downfalls of humanity. His short story, Dr. Heidegger s Experiment, written in 1837, is about Dr.
Heidegger, an old man, who invites four of his old friends to try his latest experiment, his elixir.
Heidegger tempts his guest by stating the elixir is from the Fountain of Youth. The doctor shows his
guests how the elixer makes a dead rose come alive. He claims the elixir will make them young again.
After drinking the elixir, his guest return to their old sins that they committed when they were young

Heidegger s Experiment s most fascinating literary features is the characters that Hawthorne
establishes, and the ideas they evoke. Each of the four guest, Colonel Killigrew, Mr. Medbourne, Mr.
Gascoigne, and Widow Wycherley, are invented symbols that each portray a different human vice or
sin. In his youth, Colonel Killigrew was a merchant who lost all his money. Mr. Medbourne wasted his
youth perusing sinful pleasures. Mr. Gascoigne was a corrupt politician with a horrible reputation.
Widow Wycherly, in her prime, was a beautiful woman who became a recluse because of scandalous
stories that were spread about her. When they were given the chance to change their ways, they couldn
t do it. But they were young: their burning passions proved them so. Inflamed to madness by the
coquetry of the girl widow ... the three rivals began to interchange threatening glances. ... They
grappled fiercely at one another s throats. As they struggled to and fro, the table was overturned, and
the vase dashed into a thousand fragments (Hawthorne). Hawthorne is illustrating how powerful sin
can be. When they drank the elixir, and had a second chance, they wasted it. The men fell for the
Widow s beauty and turned on each other. Hawthorne is trying to symbolize sin and the powers of
temptation by having each guest fall into the trap of their

Prion Diseases Research Paper
TSE: Unique Neuroinvasive Pathogens Overview Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs),
also referred to as prion diseases, are a range of progressive neurodegenerative diseases that affect
various mammals, including humans. These diseases are caused by exposure to prions, infectious
agents that result from the misfolded form of a glycoprotein found at the surface of cells: PrPc. The
abnormal variant (PrPSc) is highly resistant to heat, chemicals and disinfection procedures such as
formalin disinfection. It requires autoclaving at 137ºC for up to an hour to sterilize contaminated
materials. In some of these conditions prions first accumulate in the lymphoid tissues, which are found
within the route of infection, before reaching the brain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Infectious agents enter the brain through parasympathetic and sympathetic efferent fibres, with one
difference: the parasympathetic route of infection does not involve the spinal cord. Instead, it goes
directly to the CNS (McBride et al., 2001). TSE agents therefore reach the CNS in the opposite
direction that efferent (motor) fibres follow (i.e. from the target organ towards the brain and not vice
versa). As seen in Figure 3, infectious agents run through the splanchnic nerve (sympathetic) to reach
the spinal cord thoracically. From there, they spread to the brain in caudal cranial direction. The way
prions spread from FDCs to peripheral nerve fibres is uncertain, as connection between an FDC and a
nerve synapse is unusual (Felten and Felten, 1991). However, intracellular transfer of prions to the
peripheral nervous system (PNS) could occur via exosomes from FDCs (Fevrier et al., 2004).
Dendritic cells may also potentially transfer these agents to the PNS (Aucouturier et al. 2001).
Distance between FDCs and peripheral nerves affects the rate of neuroinvasion, which means it may
be faster through lymphoid tissues situated closer to peripheral nerves than others (e.g. Peyer s patches
compared to the

Hinduism Reflection
Hinduism is a major world and oldest extant religion with a billion followers which started in the
Indian subcontinent. It has a variety of systems of philosophy, belief, and ritual, characterized by the
belief in reincarnation one absolute being of multiple manifestations, the law of cause and effect,
following the path of righteousness, and the desire for liberation from the cycle of births and deaths.
Hinduism refers to rich tradition of texts and practices, some of which date back to the second

I do not want to make a case for either the monotheistic or polytheistic imagination and say that one is
better than the other. In healthy people both can fruitfully coexist, and both have their drawbacks. The
downside to the monotheistic imagination is a tendency toward one sided absolutism. It is crazy that
there are millions of Gods in Hinduism, but Christianity has only one. Hindus are encouraged to relate
to god in the way that suits them best, like worshipping many deities who are believed to be
manifestations of God. I think people believe in multiple Gods because just like an organization that
has different people who take up different roles, different Gods have different responsibilities.
Because gods aren t supported by evidence, people have to use their imagination to interpret their will,
which due to the absence of evidence, will vary from person to person, and nobody can demonstrate,
with evidence, that one person s imagined god id any more real than anyone else s imagined god. As
everyone knows that god is everywhere and watches us, and in Hinduism also they believe that god is
everywhere and in everything. So, the polytheistic imaginations in Hinduism makes sense since they
believe God is everywhere, Hindus worship pretty much everything like Stones, directions, plants,
animals

Pride And Prejudice Gender Expectations
The novel Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen depicts a social structure in which there are clear gender
expectations. These gender expectations control and restrict the lives of both genders, most notably
women. In. Austen s world, women have few opportunities to support themselves, and have high
expectations attributed to them. Men were held to similar standards. Upper and middle class men were
expected to add to their families wealth, be charming, and eventually marry. Deviation from these
spoken and unspoken rules, such as Lydia and Wickham s elopement, would result in becoming a

Edward Taylor God
The depiction of such different Gods between the two Puritan ministers stems from their overall goal
in their writing. Taylor s goal in writing is purely for the glory of God and his own expression of
feelings towards Him. Edward Taylor s works are too bright and cheerful for the Puritan conservatives
at the time and do not serve for moral instruction as most literature should. In his work, Upon

Taylor use the ideal of perfectionism and the denial of sin to exaggerate his view of having a loving

Equally important, Jonathan Edwards wrote most of his work during the time period of the Great

establish a loving relationship with God. He did so by often depicting God as a stern, harsh, and
sometimes furious character who wanted to bring them back to his glory but was also not shy from
condemning the Puritans to hell. Edward s audience was broad in spectrum and he had to appeal to a

There are a multitude of mysteries in life, some greater than others. Some mysteries are solvable, and
some we can only create solutions for in both well made and sloppily built theories. America itself has
had its fair share of mysteries, some bigger than others, but by far one of the oldest may be the
mysterious conditions surrounding the lost colony of roanoke. In current day North Carolina resides a

mystery that haunts the place, Roanoke Colony. Almost 500 years ago, 100 or so men, women, and

The second colony fell under the same circumstances, though the hostility between the colonists and
natives was more strained. When the third expedition finally came around, it was led not by Sir Walter
Raleigh, but instead by english artist John White ( Ancient Origins.net; Encyclopediavirginia.org ). It
was at this point the tensions between the colonists and the natives relaxed enough for relatively
friendly communications to begin. The hostility fell away when it was realized that White had brought
along not only male colonists, but women and children, including his daughter Eleanor Dare and her
husband, Annaise Dare. Her child, Virginia Dare, was the first english child born in the americas (
history.com ). With their relations greatly improving with local natives, it seemed as though the
english colony of Roanoke was faring much better than its predecessors. Unfortunately, not unlike the
previous colonies, they began to suffer from a severe lack of resources. In the year 1587, John White
left Roanoke and sailed back to england in hopes of returning with more supplies. His departure,
however, occurred during a

Alexander The Great Dbq Essay
Father: Faced with strong opposition he had Callisthenes executed! Alexander does not truly care for
Macedonians; he just wants to be king of the Persian Empire, seen as divine, even a god. Callisthenes
was a threat to Alexander, as his opposition to his political decisions was widely heard and known.
There is no solid proof that Callisthenes was a part of the Royal Pages conspiracy, Alexander just
wanted an excuse to put him to death. Being a ready ear to the talk of the pages when they were
criticising and finding fault with the king6 is simply no excuse to torture and execute him all without
trial. No other execution has incited more opposition and resentment towards Alexander7. Son: Of
course one would dislike another who is opposed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Does that not seem to you like betrayal and rejection of his own people? Alexander could never have
had it both ways. As the conquerors we will never accept the customs of the conquered. Political move
it may have been, but it was the wrong one. At the trial of the royal pages conspiracy, it was stated to
Alexander that he abhorred the customs of his own country. Thus it was the king of Persians, not of
the Macedonians that they wanted to kill13. Alexander has simply become so far removed from his
own people that some do not even see him as their own king. The plot against his life was to pursue
him as a deserter in accordance with the conventions of war14. When a sailor rescued Alexander s
crown from the sea and placed it on his own head to keep it dry and out of harm s way, he was
rewarded handsomely for the rescue. When it was pointed out by another to Alexander that the crown
had been on another s head, regardless of the situation he had the same man promptly executed on the
belief that it was a bad omen. With the adoption of Persian luxury came outright abuse of power and

Contemplative Importance
The Importance of Contemplative Practices in an Academic Environment (pt. 1)
Contemplative practices can take several forms, including meditation, prayers, and certain physical
exercises such as yoga. Before taking Education in the USA, I had spent very little time participating
in these practices except for the occasional yoga session my former tennis coach would instruct me to
attend. However, these were cases of me superficially participating in that practice. Since participating
in our Wednesday discussions which include a 5 to 10 minute period of meditation, the what s
present/what are we experiencing? exercises, and occasionally, the placement of different objects and
words in the center of the room I have become increasingly aware of the importance of these practices
in relation to both the material we are covering in lectures as well as our individual beings. In my
opinion, the respective purposes of these different contemplative practices have been to cultivate a
sense of mental calmness while taking a break from our busy lives, identify the importance of fully
embracing the present moment, and expose us to different viewpoints and reactions regarding certain
topics, ultimately forcing us to think critically and respond constructively to them. The meditation
portion of our Wednesday discussions allows us to take a step away from the rigorous classwork and
constant worrying about due dates by instead focusing solely on our breathing. Since arriving at

Research Article On Fires And Climate Change
Upon a search of the University of Idaho Library, I found a scholarly research article relating fires to
climate change. This article is highly technical in nature. Through the extensive analysis of data, Liu,
Goodrick and Heilman found that climate change and augmenting fire activity form a malicious cycle.
Warm temperatures enable fuel moistures to decline, allowing fires to explode. Fires, more
specifically large ones, emit enormous amounts of exhaust. They discovered that fire emissions help to
worsen climate change. The main components of fire emissions are carbon dioxide, organic carbon,
and black carbon; carbon dioxide is the largest pollutant of the three, accounting for about 71% on
average. When released into the atmosphere, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This paper has a fair amount of ethos associated with it. It was conducted by a government institution
and was written by government scientists who specialized in this area. The article was also published
in a peer reviewed journal, Forest Ecology and Management. Additionally, the information is valid
and reliable. I have crosschecked the information with in this article with other journal articles; all the
information presented is true and supported with solid data. Furthermore, the article was published in
a peer reviewed journal, which means the data has been reviewed by other professionals in that field
of study. Finally, the article is fairly current; it was published in March of 2013. The trends presented
in the article are still occurring. However, the fine data, CO2 levels, black carbon levels, etc, may be a
little out of date. All in all, this is a great source to explain the causes of increasing activity and the
trends associated with fire. This article was found using the University of Idaho search tool. I found
this source as an effective and easy way for finding credible sources, but it was much harder than any
of the other sources to find sources that related to your research topic. I originally searched for the
Forest Service budget crisis, but I was unable to find usable sources.
In their research article on wildfires and climate change, Liu, Goodrick and Heilman (2013) found that

1992 Presidential Election Campaign Analysis
During his acceptance speech in 1988, Republican Vice President, George H. W. Bush, said, read my
lips, no new taxes (Bush as cited by Matthews, 2004). Unfortunately, in the wake of financial pressure
President Bush in 1990 implemented a new tax on the American people. The failure to honor this
declaration brought into question President Bush s credibility and trust, and ultimately followed him to
the 1992 Presidential Election (Jamieson, 1996). However minimal the phrase, the impact of his
trustworthiness plagued Bush to the ballot box costing him reelection. The presence of credibility,
likability, and charisma in a political candidate are precious characteristics needed in the electoral
process.
These characteristics have the power to move voters in an electoral process and ignite action

Editing And Compression In Memento, By Christopher Nolan
A person s identity relies heavily on one s memories. How can one know who they are, if they cannot
remember who they were and what they experienced to get to the present? In Memento, director
Christopher Nolan highlights the importance of memory in forming one s identity. The movie follows
a man named Leonard who is determined to track down and kill the man who raped and murdered his
wife. Unfortunately, Leonard suffers from anterograde amnesia, meaning he can remember everything
leading up to the incident, but he is incapable of forming memories of anything which occurred after
his wife s death. Throughout his investigation, Leonard compensates for his handicap by writing
himself notes which he tattoos on his body. But as Leonard s investigation moves forward, Leonard
himself cannot. With his wife s death as his last memory, he finds himself out of sync with the rest of
the world as his identity remains stuck in the past. In Memento, Nolan uses editing and mise en scene
to reinforce the idea that a person s identity relies heavily upon their memories.
One of the most outstanding film techniques in Memento is its use of editing. The scenes of the movie
are sequenced in reverse chronological order, with the film beginning at the storyline s end and ending
at its beginning. In doing this, Nolan is able to mimic an experience for the viewer which is similar to
Leonard s anterograde amnesia. Without previous context for each scene, the audience is often unable

The Meaning Of Courage In The Shawshank Redemption, And...
What is the meaning of courage? This is a question that many people ask themselves. Is courage doing
something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of
courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank
Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that
I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me
the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to
watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was
when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which
was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food,
my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was
the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat
her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and
kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the
abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to
try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my
childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and
Beastly. An example of courage is when Assef goes to hit Amir, Assef suddenly freezes because
Hassan has his slingshot aimed at him, which allows Amir and Hassan to get away. Hassan shows
courage by facing his fear of Assef and stands up for Amir and himself. You can also see courage
when Pi has to face Richard Parker and decides that they need each other. Pi had a fear of Richard
Parker because he watched what happened to the goat. This made Pi realize how strong and powerful
tigers are and how they can kill you very easily. Even though he knew this he also knew that they need
to stick together and help each other. Another example is in Beastly when Kyle

Working With The Elderly Population
Reminiscing to 2010, when I was faced with my grandmother s illness during the adolescent years in
my life I knew that I had a passion to care for the elderly (aging) population. From this passion, it
ignited a fire so strong that I pursue my certified nursing assistant certification to gain a better
understanding of working with the elderly population. By doing so, it has been a great benefit to my
life; aging is an inevitable experience that we all will go through during our life. It is important to
ensure that our elderly individuals are still able to enjoy the best quality of life after retirement.
However, as we age, there will be a lifestyle change that the aging population must encounter. Instead
of relying on income from previous occupation, the elderly population, income will fixate, resulting in
dependency on their 401k saving plan and other government related programs to assist with activities
of daily living. This is why I choose to work with this population, to ensure that dignity, worth, and
respect of a person is maintained. However, the aging population should not feel that they are being
treated as a burden by the government or their families. In the United States, we undermine our aging
population by treating them as though they are not of any value. In reference to this mistreatment
towards the aging population can cause issues such as unemployment, health, and elder abuse. Social
justice is about assuring the protection of equal rights, and

Sociological Concepts
The study of societies throughout the world at different periods in history is important to
understanding human behaviors. Even though most sociological studies are conducted on broad topics
such as crime, poverty, gender, and ethnicity it is important to consider specific events that occur.
These events provide examples and evidence towards concepts and theories that are developed to
explain why people act a certain way in society. In the world today there are several issues and events
that relate to sociological concepts and theories. The Middle East recently has been an area of radical
behavior conducted by a terrorist group called the Islamic State. Looking into the actions and events
of this terror group we can understand the sociological ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They are using the social media as a source of producing a massive audience to their atrocities. This is
also a tool for recruiting people who feel insignificant within their society. There have been several
documented individuals traveling to Syria to join the Islamic State with the motivational purpose of
being a part of something significant. This is something that confuses people who are watching them
leave because they did not seem to be radicalized. Analyzing these events while they are happening in
real time has been fascinating and educational because the actions are seen from a different
perspective. The Islamic State has proven that the use of social and mass media are effective means to
influence people into curiosity. That curiosity is then exploited by radicalization to perform the
horrific actions this society thrives on. What if they lost their audience? Would they still be as
effective at recruiting? These are the questions that could develop solutions to the largest global threat
today and create new sociological concepts and theories in the

Evolution Of Justice
How has justice evolved throughout world history?
When children are young they are expected to follow rules precisely and if they break a rule, then they
are typically forced to take a timeout. In a child s eyes, a time out is a horrible and miserable time
when they are compelled to think about what they did wrong. But even though a timeout is considered
harsh in the child s eyes it still establishes justice between the child who broke the rule and who was
affected by that child s choice. As the child grows older, it realizes that justice doesn t have to
established through a set of rules, but that justice can be achieved through kindness. In the same way,
the idea of justice has changed over time in the way of justice has become less strict ... Show more

In this example, Jesus is giving a sermon to people from various areas of Africa. Therefore, whoever
breaks even the smallest of the commandments and teaches others to do the same will be least in the
kingdom of heaven. On the other hand, whoever obeys the Law, and teaches others to do the same will
be great in the kingdom of heaven (The Sermon on the Mount 30 C.E.). This exemplifies that if one
was to break a commandment, he would face little to no severe punishment. Although the individual
would face little punishment, if they did nothing to make the situation right they would face
punishment spiritually or after death. However, Jesus did not only ensure punishment but also made
good promises for those who were obedient. (God speaking to Moses) From this you know that now,
if you obey my voice and hold fast to my covenant, you of all the nations shall be my very own for all
the earth is mine. I will count you a kingdom of priests, a consecrated nation (The Covenant Code,
Exodus 20:19 23:33). This portrays that those who did not obey God s covenant would not receive the
good things that he promised but they would, however, get away with facing little punishment
physically. On the whole, throughout history, justice becomes less about relentlessly punishing and
following every rule word for word but more about benefitting from being

I think Kozlowski was very clever on how he represented himself and would only tell the board what
they needed to know, making the board believing that without him the company would fail.
Complacency and ignorance come to mind; I think it took someone from the outside to really bring it
to attention and events such as the birthday party in Sardinia and countless authentic art pieces that
were being shipped to the headquarters for personal usage.
WayerskiLMGT7019 8 3 5 The party in Sardinia was a birthday celebration for Kozlowski s wife. The
event was $2 million dollars and Kozlowski wrote off $1 million as a stockholders event and even sent
out a company memo to justify the expenditure (Wilson 2008). I feel that is an act of creative
accounting; why would a CEO, Kozlowski pay for a company event that wasn t non charitable out of
his own pocket? He knew what he could absorb without being questioned. I also think with the loans
that it became to accessible and it became an order of business. It was done so often and the company
had so much revenue that Kozlowski thought he could just absorb it through company records. The
complaint against Kozlowski from Tyco all its legal language came across to me that he was trying to
find ways not to pay taxes on personal items from job relocation to purchasing art
(www.FINDLAW.com 2012).

  • 4. How Modern Myths Affect Society Modern Myths For the past 6 weeks we have learned about modern myths and how they affect society in our everyday lives. In this paper you will see the topics that we focused on and what we learned of how these challenges impose on our societies. The first myth that we all know is society s definition of image. Every day millions of people in society look in the mirror and hate what they see. Many starve themselves get plastic surgery cake on layer of makeup just too try to accept themselves. The reason we do this is because of the picture that that media and society shows us. We think that if we don t look like the people in the magazine s with everything perfect then we are not good enough and feel like we need to change ourselves to be accepted. People spend thousands of dollars on makeup different clothes and other thing to try and make us be more like the picture perfect person and it is wrong. Body dysmorphia is a condition when a person who will never accept their body for what it is. More than 200,000 cases of it are found in society every year. It is most common in ages between 14 41. People with this condition will take huge steps to change because they will never accept their body for how it is. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 5. History Of The Stonewall Riots Barely minutes after 3 AM on June 28th 1969, what had been a police raid on a known LGBT club located in New York, known as the Stonewall Inn turned violent. Outside, hundreds of protesters and sympathizers began rioting against the sudden police force. While the NYPD had been justified in closing down the club, the events which would follow over the next six days would go on to spark revolution, and establish the LGBT movement for gay civil rights. It is inevitably because of these protests that the LGBT community has the rights and freedom that they have today. However, the Stonewall Riots are not as recognized as a copious amount of protests and revolts, and are a severely underrated historical event, which resulted in the removal of ... Shortly after this act, practicing sexual deviants enlisted within the U.S Civil Service had been immediately fired after an investigation consisting of 192 suspects, most of which lost their posts after the accusations. These investigations began after a myriad of Republican accusations saying that the Federal civil service was a hotbed of sex perversion , (Belderman, The Observer ), and were initiated by then President Truman s administration. During this time, the ownership of an alcohol license was immensely important, and could be revoked upon recognition that the bar was disorderly . Up until the year 1967, selling alcohol to homosexuals could result in a bar being deemed disorderly, thus closing it down. While the state of New York overturned this law, a multitude of other states such as Miami maintained them, hence prohibiting the liquor licenses to, knowingly sell to, serve to or allow consumption of alcoholic beverages by a homosexual person, lesbian or pervert ... or to knowingly allow two or more persons who are homosexuals, lesbians or perverts to remain in his place of business . However, the removal of this law in New York did not stop the constant raids on rumoured gay bars and clubs, resulting in the abolishment of these businesses alcohol licenses, and the arrest of countless individuals found inside. • 6. Stained Glass Art Analysis The piece of art that stuck out to me the most was the stain glass window about the virtues of love and charity. However, I am very biased towards this piece of artwork because I helped make it for our group window in Stained Glass. I really like this piece because I understand how much work and effort is involved in its creation. While Sr. Kelly picked the virtues of the window, love and charity, the creative process was entirely our own. We all brainstormed ideas of what these virtues looked like. For some, a dove, a rose, or a tree represented love and charity. On the other hand, specific colors represented these virtues. In the end, we collaborated our ideas into one design focused on love as an open door (because someone unoriginally stole ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... After the window was finished, Sr. Kelly complimented us on our accomplishment and appraised the window s value to be $600, which astounded me. However, I think the value of this window extends far beyond its monetary value. I love that stained glass art is permanent and that the window belongs to the school because it represents the lasting impact I made at SHA. When the light shines directly through the window, it becomes alive and the names of everyone in my class glitter in gold letters at the bottom of the window. This window will become one of many in a virtues collection over the years and my name will forever be etched on the first window, which offers a subtle reminder for SHA girls to think of their sisters that came before and paved the way for new opportunities like stained glass. In addition, I am glad that this window in particular will remain at the school because I don t think I could part with my other windows in which I actually had control over the color scheme and glass selection. Although, the window did not depict exactly what I wanted, it clearly showed the virtues of love and charity, which unite us ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Hira found in the Arabian Peninsula when the archangel Gabriel came with a message for muhammad telling him to believe in the one and only true god Allah, therefore creating the religion of Islam. Over the years Islam grew but Islam spread much more quickly than other religions, but why? Some historians believe that it spread quickly because of military conquest, while others are certain it was because of trade routes all around the 3 continents. Then again it could have also been because of treaties, taxes, and tolerations. Military Conquest,Treaties and Taxes and Tolerations, and trade routes were the 3 most believed reasons on why Islam spread so fast. Trade Routes might have been the most explainable reason for the quick growth of Islam. Trade routes(doc A) might have been the most important part of the quick spread of Islam because since they reached over from the arabian Peninsula to Asia in the east and Constantinople to the north. Navroz Kaur Kahlon** *(Computer Engineering Department, UCOE, Punjabi University, Patiala) ** (Asst. Prof. Computer Engineering Department, Punjabi University, Patiala) (Email: *arshrai90@gmail.com, **Kahlon.navroz3@gmail.com) Abstract Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANETs) play main role in the design and development of the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) who improves the road safety and transportation productivity. VANETs include two communication types i.e. Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) and Vehicle to Roadside (V2R) communications. One of the most important challenges of this kind of network are the timely, safely and reliable dissemination of messages between vehicular nodes which permits the drivers to take appropriate decisions to improve the road safety. There are many routing protocols for VANETs which can support the reliability and safety for routing. These protocols undergo the several limitations including complexity, lack of scalability, end to end delay, routing overheads, etc. To remove these limitations, various bio inspired methodologies have been proposed for routing among vehicular nodes in an optimized way. Here in this paper, various bio inspired routing algorithms for the VANET are discussed. 1. INTRODUCTION A Vehicular Ad hoc Networks (VANET) are considered as a specific type of Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) which contains the of a set of mobile nodes (Vehicles) ... The article provided a legal background to enforce Germany to pay compensations for the war. Clause 231 was one of the most argumentative bit of the treaty. It stated: The Allied and Associated Governments affirm and Germany accepts the responsibility of Germany and her allies for causing all the loss and damage to which the Allied and Associated Governments and their nationals have been subjected as a consequence of the war imposed upon them by the aggression of Germany and her allies. Germans considered this article as a ethnic abasement, imposing Germany to take entire responsibility for causing the conflict. German legislators tried to encounter the article verbally in an attempt to create international affinity, while German annalists were focused on undermining the article with an aim of overturning the entire pact. The Allied rulers were astonished with the German attitude, they found the clause as the only a crucial juridical base to get reimbursement from Germany. The historians ... As the subdued clink of metal on metal reverberated through the room, a single sliver of ivory fell from the masterpiece. Surveying the now finished harp, Pendragon let a satisfied sigh escape his lips. Like a horse who has pulled loads for a lifetime and has finally been brought to the paddock, contentment settled over him. Years previous, he sailed to Egypt to find the best ivory; he joined caravans of jewel sellers to pick out the finest pieces; he travelled to the gold mines of Persia to purchase the purest ore. When was that? Eight years ago, where have you been that the passing of the king of Macedon is such news to you? Oh, well, I ve just been on a small hermitage, I guess. • 13. Gender Discrimination In Sports Gender discrimination in the sports industry has always been a controversial topic. Gender equality in sports has come a long way. Like when UNESCO recognized sports and physical activity as a human right in 1978. Discrimination is defined as unjust treatment of different categories of people or things. Discrimination towards people has been around for a long time and it s affecting the entire world and has taken large steps towards being demolished. These large steps have been taken to make the world a better place and a lot of these discriminations have gotten smaller over time, but many of these are still seen in everyday life, unfortunately. Discrimination against females has been a constant battle due to the world being extremely male dominant. Women have had to fight against discrimination for many things, such as freedom of speech, the right to vote, and equal rights to work. Women were expected to be stay at home parents, taking care of the cleaning and housekeeping, and raising the kids, and were not allowed to be on the workforce, do things they enjoy, or even get a little freedom. Female discrimination in sports is a common issue all around the world, women are seen as not as good as males, equality in sports is unequal, and the amount of pay and media coverage is different for each sport and gender. • 14. Becoming A Teacher At A Private School . Research into this career has expanded my knowledge excessively. Such as, there is a process which has steps to becoming a teacher. Step one includes, learning about the education system. Step two is to, decide if teaching is right for you. Obviously teaching is not the correct job for someone who does not like children. Step three, find a degree program. Step four, choose the correct specialty; in my case art. Step five, gain classroom experience. Step six, qualify for certification. Then, step seven, get hired. Which results in step eight and nine, professional expectations, benefits and teaching contracts. Finally step ten, the first year of teaching. The education system is broken up into public and private education, there is a large difference between them. When attempting to become a teacher at a private school, it may not be required to have certification for their state or a teaching degree. Private schools are independent of the local, federal and state government and establish their own individual education system. Ages ranging from kindergarteners to high school adults can attend these schools when accepted and charged a tuition. On the other hand, public schools are offered by the government and the curriculum taught follows national and state standards; which is checked on and insured by standardized testing. There is a limit for age, from kindergarten to twelfth grade; and when students become enrolled, they stay until a certain age or grade. There are a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In 1159, Kiyomori of the Taira clan was victorious over the Minamoto clan. Kiyomori murdered all the adults of the Monamoto clan and forced the children into exile. The emperor rewarded Kiyomori victory by giving him an advisor position in the government. This event was significant because Kiyomori was the first warrior in Japan s government. Like the Fujiwara family, Kiyomori desired a royal bloodline within the Taira clan. So the Taira clan consorted with the imperial family in efforts to secure an imperial bloodline. Later, Kiyomori obtain a higher government position and more importantly a grandson was born and is heir to the throne. The Cold Heavy Oil Production With Sand A methodology has been developed for making low compressive strength cores that will be used to experimentally examine the Cold Heavy Oil Production with Sand (CHOPS) process occurring in unconsolidated oil reservoirs. The main objective is to experimentally model wormhole (high permeability channel) development during CHOPS and investigate the effect of various flow parameters such as core permeability and porosity, compressive strength, oil/water viscosity contrast, confining pressure and injection rate. Modeling the wormhole development and propagation will enable us be able to developing approximate Inflow Performance Relationship (IPR) curves. Sands blends have been developed by varying the ratios of aggregate, cementing material and water to prepare synthetic cores of compressive strength, permeability and porosity ranging from 500 1500 psi, 0.5 1.5 Darcy and 20 30% respectively. Experimental setup is developed to simulate wormhole propagation during CHOPS process. In this process water is injected at varying range of 0.1 to 10 ml/min using a syringe pump into floating piston accumulator to drive the oil ahead of piston to 2 x 4 synthetic core in core holder at a confining pressure of 500 1500 psi. A thin client architecture can reduce the workload of the technology coordinators by centralizing management and reducing the kinds of workstation maintenance that needs to be done. Prion Diseases Research Paper TSE: Unique Neuroinvasive Pathogens Overview Transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), also referred to as prion diseases, are a range of progressive neurodegenerative diseases that affect various mammals, including humans. These diseases are caused by exposure to prions, infectious agents that result from the misfolded form of a glycoprotein found at the surface of cells: PrPc. The abnormal variant (PrPSc) is highly resistant to heat, chemicals and disinfection procedures such as formalin disinfection. It requires autoclaving at 137ºC for up to an hour to sterilize contaminated materials. In some of these conditions prions first accumulate in the lymphoid tissues, which are found within the route of infection, before reaching the brain. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Infectious agents enter the brain through parasympathetic and sympathetic efferent fibres, with one difference: the parasympathetic route of infection does not involve the spinal cord. Instead, it goes directly to the CNS (McBride et al., 2001). TSE agents therefore reach the CNS in the opposite direction that efferent (motor) fibres follow (i.e. from the target organ towards the brain and not vice versa). As seen in Figure 3, infectious agents run through the splanchnic nerve (sympathetic) to reach the spinal cord thoracically. From there, they spread to the brain in caudal cranial direction. The way prions spread from FDCs to peripheral nerve fibres is uncertain, as connection between an FDC and a nerve synapse is unusual (Felten and Felten, 1991). However, intracellular transfer of prions to the peripheral nervous system (PNS) could occur via exosomes from FDCs (Fevrier et al., 2004). Dendritic cells may also potentially transfer these agents to the PNS (Aucouturier et al. 2001). Hindus are encouraged to relate to god in the way that suits them best, like worshipping many deities who are believed to be manifestations of God. I think people believe in multiple Gods because just like an organization that has different people who take up different roles, different Gods have different responsibilities. Because gods aren t supported by evidence, people have to use their imagination to interpret their will, which due to the absence of evidence, will vary from person to person, and nobody can demonstrate, with evidence, that one person s imagined god id any more real than anyone else s imagined god. As everyone knows that god is everywhere and watches us, and in Hinduism also they believe that god is everywhere and in everything. So, the polytheistic imaginations in Hinduism makes sense since they believe God is everywhere, Hindus worship pretty much everything like Stones, directions, plants, animals ... Upper and middle class men were expected to add to their families wealth, be charming, and eventually marry. Contemplative Importance The Importance of Contemplative Practices in an Academic Environment (pt. 1) Contemplative practices can take several forms, including meditation, prayers, and certain physical exercises such as yoga. Before taking Education in the USA, I had spent very little time participating in these practices except for the occasional yoga session my former tennis coach would instruct me to attend. However, these were cases of me superficially participating in that practice. Since participating in our Wednesday discussions which include a 5 to 10 minute period of meditation, the what s present/what are we experiencing? exercises, and occasionally, the placement of different objects and words in the center of the room I have become increasingly aware of the importance of these practices in relation to both the material we are covering in lectures as well as our individual beings. In my opinion, the respective purposes of these different contemplative practices have been to cultivate a sense of mental calmness while taking a break from our busy lives, identify the importance of fully embracing the present moment, and expose us to different viewpoints and reactions regarding certain topics, ultimately forcing us to think critically and respond constructively to them. How can one know who they are, if they cannot remember who they were and what they experienced to get to the present? In Memento, director Christopher Nolan highlights the importance of memory in forming one s identity. The movie follows a man named Leonard who is determined to track down and kill the man who raped and murdered his wife. Unfortunately, Leonard suffers from anterograde amnesia, meaning he can remember everything leading up to the incident, but he is incapable of forming memories of anything which occurred after his wife s death. Throughout his investigation, Leonard compensates for his handicap by writing himself notes which he tattoos on his body. But as Leonard s investigation moves forward, Leonard himself cannot. With his wife s death as his last memory, he finds himself out of sync with the rest of the world as his identity remains stuck in the past. In Memento, Nolan uses editing and mise en scene to reinforce the idea that a person s identity relies heavily upon their memories. One of the most outstanding film techniques in Memento is its use of editing. The scenes of the movie are sequenced in reverse chronological order, with the film beginning at the storyline s end and ending at its beginning. In doing this, Nolan is able to mimic an experience for the viewer which is similar to Leonard s anterograde amnesia. Without previous context for each scene, the audience is often unable to ... Is courage doing something others are too afraid to do or is it facing your fears and pain? You can find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, Beastly, Rita Hayworth and the Shawshank Redemption, and Plainsong. I have also shown courage with my past and how I grew up. The way that I showed courage in my past was facing what scared me the most. Two of the things that scared me the most was watching my mom get abused and worrying about food. As a kid we were forced to watch my mother get abused by her boyfriends. The only time my sister, brother and I got food was when we would go and beg for food from our neighbors. My mom also taught us how to steal, which was a bad habit I had until I broke it at 12 years old. We all developed habits, my sister hoarded food, my brother hurt himself, and I stole stuff. When I moved in with my Aunt, I was 8 years old and it was the happiest day of my life. However, I was still not getting a lot of food because my sister would eat her food then eat all of mine. This happened until my sister turned 18 and my Aunt found out and kicked her out because she was abuse me. I found the courage to stand up and tell my Aunt so the abuse would end. My life started out rough, but at least it taught me what not to do in life and what to try and avoid. I have shown courage by facing my fears and getting rid of my old habits from my childhood. You can also find examples of courage in the books The Kite Runner, Life of Pi, and Beastly. By doing so, it has been a great benefit to my life; aging is an inevitable experience that we all will go through during our life. It is important to ensure that our elderly individuals are still able to enjoy the best quality of life after retirement. However, as we age, there will be a lifestyle change that the aging population must encounter. Instead of relying on income from previous occupation, the elderly population, income will fixate, resulting in dependency on their 401k saving plan and other government related programs to assist with activities of daily living. This is why I choose to work with this population, to ensure that dignity, worth, and respect of a person is maintained. However, the aging population should not feel that they are being treated as a burden by the government or their families. On the other hand, whoever obeys the Law, and teaches others to do the same will be great in the kingdom of heaven (The Sermon on the Mount 30 C.E.). This exemplifies that if one was to break a commandment, he would face little to no severe punishment.
