7 Habits For Highly Effective People Analysis
In Steven Covey s 7 Habits for Highly Effective People, seven habits to achieving a life one
desires and creating a better world by being a more conscious and thoughtful citizen. Dr. Magee
during her Listening lectures explains, however, that these habits however cannot be achieved
without dedicating some time to bolster one s listening skills. This will examine how the seven
habits are affected by listening. Habit one is to be proactive. This means that to focus one s time
and energy over things they can control. During the listening lectures, Dr. Magee explains that to
be proactive is important to listen to the world around one s self so they may be able to respond
in the appropriate way. Habit two is to begin with the end in mind. This means to know and
envision who you want to be and what you want in life. To develop a personal mission statement
one must listen to themselves to know what values and desires they have and want to put out into
the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This means to focus on the important priorities to organize and manage time and events according
to personal priorities. This requires a combination of listening skills, to listen one s self and to
others to complete the assignments and tasks in order of importance. Habit four is to seek a win
win. This means to see life as cooperative not competitive. A person who does this often times has
integrity, maturity and abundance mentality. This habit also requires combination listening. One
needs to listen to themselves so they may offer their true ideas to others and listen to others to
collaborate and create something better than

The Sexuality Of Social Stigma
One young man from Michigan states that, My stepfather caught me watching the show once, and
treated me like I was mentally ill (thankfully, he s mentioned it to no one else)... I m still afraid of
social stigma for being public about my appreciation for the show. Bussey and Bandura would
suggest that this is a standard practice for fathers reacting more negatively to their son s gender
infractions. For many people, it is hard to see men occupy a feminized space and still see them as
masculine. After discovering the Brony fandom, many people have questions regarding the
sexuality of the fandom such as the following Yahoo Answers post from a concerned parent of a fan:
Well I just created my account, so I can ask this. Yesterday I came home from work early, and I
walked up to my 15 year old sons [sic] room. When I opened it, I saw him with headphones
watching My little pony . He didn t notice me, so I just acted like nothing happened. Could he be
gay, or just likes the show?
Update: Please explain what a brony is. Are they a gay group of men? Or sonthing [sic] else?
Learning that his adolescent son is watching a cartoon about ponies, this parent draws the
conclusion that his child is gay. His assumptions demonstrate how members of society regard
masculine space because enjoying ponies relegates young men into an effeminate position.
Thankfully, there are number of people who answer his question by explaining the fandom to him.
Questions of sexuality are the largest

Collegiate Athlete Argumentative Essay
Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence (Vince Lombardi).
Collegiate athletes have the best chance of success in college, because they constantly get
pressure from the coaches to get good grades, won t have any debt after college because they are
on full scholarship and playing sports helps builds social network.
Coaches keep players on their toes by staying on them every second of the day to keep their
grades up. If coaches didn t stay on their players about their grades, then they will be
lackadaisical about their school work. Coaches and players have a hand and hand relationship,
players feed off their coaches enthusiasm. Everyday in practice and workouts there is not a day
where our coaches don t speak on grades, tutors or even establishing a relationship with our
professors. As an athlete grades are everything because without passing grades, according to the
NCAA you are not permitted to participate in any collegiate sports if your are meeting the academic
requirements. The student body is a little different because they don t have anybody to push them ...

Every school has so many scholarships they can give it depending on how much money the school
makes. Student athletes on full scholarship receive free tuition and fees, free room and board at an
institution of higher learning. To avoid student debt, use academic and athletic excellence to land
gift aid scholarships that leave you free and clear after graduation (College Scholarship.org). A
regular student that s not on on scholarship has to come out of pocket and pay for everything.
They take out student loans to cover whatever they need so they can attend the school. So a
student has to work twice as hard as an athlete just to keep their head above water, they have to try
and maintain a job and their school work so hopefully once they graduate they won t have

The Problem Of A Resident And Educator
In Los Angeles, the traditional definition of the word affordable must be abandoned when
searching for housing. If you are relocating to the Los Angeles area from a mid sized city or small
town, the first thing you should do is let go of what affordable means in places other than Los
Angeles. Affordable in The Midwest and The South is $650 for a nice one bedroom apartment. In
Los Angeles, $600 per month will land you in a roach infested downtown flop house or sharing
a one bedroom apartment with three roommates. So, what are you willing to put up with? What
kind of nightlife do you enjoy? What is your diet like and can you survive without a Whole
Foods or Trader Joe s near by? Do you depend on the amenities and safety of the suburbs?(Schools
and family oriented information will not be covered in this article, because as a resident and
educator, I would NEVER suggest moving children into this adult oriented metropolis) Families
should head for what is known as The West Side and unfortunately there are no affordable
neighborhoods out west. When a single person or couple is determining what is affordable in Los
Angeles, they must consider location, amenities and crime rates. The following breakdown of
neighborhoods within Los Angeles Countyand Hollywood provides insight to the eclectic
affordable sections of town: Looking for an affordable neighborhood might lead you to Koreatown,
where a large studio apartment averages about $750 per month. A low rent

South Sister Case Study
Summary of Geological History Roughly 45 50,000 years ago the South Sister that is also
known as Charity began its primary formation. It is the youngest of the three sisters and currently
the tallest. According to https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/ this time period is known as the
Rock Mesa Eruptive Cycle and it is during this cycle that the middle sister also began forming.
According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov these early eruptions produced many rhyolite lava flows
and domes. Between 30 37,000 years ago the main cone of the south sister began to form
consisting of rhyolite and andesite domes and flows. The construction of the dome was then
completed and capped off by a massive eruption that left pyroclastic deposits up to 200 meters in
depth. Following this eruption a period of roughly 7000 years began that consisted of relatively
large eruptions of andesite and lava fountains. According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov these lava
fountains fed lava flows that built up the apron of the cone and the initial summit crater. This crater
was later filled up and built upon by dactite flows, which now make up roughly the upper 150
meters of todays South Sister.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the lava was released during the event was from a vent at 2400 meters elevation on the
South Sister. This lava flow formed the Newberry Crater Flow. The last South Sister eruption also
produced a large amount of ash and tephra fall. According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov this even
produced up to two meters of ash fall within a kilometer of the vent and deposited smaller amounts
south and east of the South Sister. It is believed that ash fell in the place where Bend is located
today. There is evidence of small lahars occurring during not only the last South Sister eruption but
also during earlier eruptions. It is believed that the lahars during the earlier eruptions where much

Prostitution of Minors
Prostitution of minors occurs all around the world. We do not notice because it may not concern
us, and it is difficult to act when something does not affect us in any way. It affects you if you
have children or nieces who are under age right now selling themselves to help out their families
who are in need of money. What would you do right then to help them get out of that situation?
That s what s going on in Europe right now when you visit, is the same thing that is happening in
Mexico. There are many young girls selling themselves because they have to work to support
their family. I had a personal experience with this issue when I took a trip down to Mexico with
my cousins once. It was around 1:00 a.m, and we were heading back to the borderline to cross
back into the U.S. On our way there I saw an empty building that was full of women and children
standing outside. I told my cousin to stop, and I got out of the car to ask a girl who looked to be
around 9 or 10 years old, what she was doing there I will never forget her words, I came here to
work to help out with money because right now I m the only one who can . I told my cousin to
help the girl with some money she could go home for the day, so that she did not have to do this
at least for a day. Those words of hers have stuck with me to this day. Seeing these children out
there that have to resort to these acts to support their family seems unfair because they are not the
parents. The parents should be the

Compare And Contrast Lincoln And Jefferson Davis
In 1861, ideological divisions between the north and the south exploded with the inauguration of
Abraham Lincoln dividing the county into the Union and Confederation. Jefferson Davis became
the President of the Confederation, while Abraham Lincoln continued to represent the United
States. Both men led during the bloodiest war of American history with fatalities claiming
approximately 2.385% of the total population (Wikipedia). Both presidents influenced the path of
the Civil War with intelligence developed by extensive educations, Jefferson Davis obtained his
education through formal academic methods, while Abraham Lincolneducated himself through
books and on the job training. Jefferson Davis and Abraham Lincoln shared several similarities...

Overcoming My Obstacles
Throughout life, many individuals encounter things in their life that they find difficult to
overcome. Many of which overcome such obstacles quickly, while others fail to overcome them at
all or at least it takes them a much longer time to do so. I fall into the third type of individual.
The obstacle that I had to face deal with my disability in the sense of people undermining my
capabilities. I was born with a disability called myelomeningocele. For those who don t know
what this is, myelomeningocele is basically a type of spina bifida that is a defect of the spine
and spinal cord where the spinal canal and the backbone is not closed before delivering a baby.
In my case, the defect wasn t as severe compared to others who have the same disorder. Most
individuals who are born with the same disability, they are to have a wheelchair to get around
because they are fully paralyzed from their waist on down. With me, I have to get around using
crutches being that mine case wasn t as severe ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Starting college, I thought I would have the same experience as did in middle school and high school
, it turns out that was the complete opposite. The people that I ve met in the two years of me
attending John Tyler never saw me as a person with a disability nor have they ever stared at me.
However, there were some instances where some people, including teachers, thought that I
broke my legs so I had to explain to them that I was born with a disability. Other than that, the
friends that I ve made while being in college has gotten to know me rather than look at me
differently because of my disability and sometimes they would forget that I even have a
disability, which I love because I am not seen as an outcast to them and it shows that there a
people in this world who would look beyond a person s physical appearance and get to know who

Passover Tradition
Using Christ s last Passover meal, where He introduced the first instance of what is now the Lord
s Supper, as an example, we see that since AD 30 it has continued to evolve into a tradition that no
longer closely resembles the original one of 1446 B.C. Today, the holiday is becoming even more
individualistic, while still holding traditional values. Likewise, the Christian Communion has
changed considerably. For years it was observed, like the one in the Upper Room following Jesus
resurrection. Then when the Church began to move out of people s homes and into buildings, the
meal was discontinued. Today, in some Christian faiths, there is tremendous ritual and rules. In
others, it is very informal. Communion elements in prepackaged individually... Show more content

Quite often the only aspect of the ritual that resembles the first is the quoting of the Scripture. Yet,
that is rather remarkable considering the historical timeline of the Christian faith through centuries
of changes.
The exegesis of this passage brings to light many important principles. First, the tradition of
Passover is nearly 3500 years old. Through devout practitioners, certain elements of the tradition
have continued against all odds, especially the recounting of historic events and the focus on hope
and thanksgiving. Second, the tradition of remembering Jesus sacrifice on the cross through
thanksgiving, breaking bread and drinking of the cup has continued for over 2000 years. Readings
from Scripture, whether from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or 1 Corinthians, keeps the tradition
alive. It is a reminder of deliverance from sin and death and the promise of eternal salvation. Third,
it is suggested that Jesus will at some point again eat of the Passover meal, although it is uncertain
if that is literal, figurative or both. This speaks to the Jewish Christian that the Passover observance
is not to be discontinued. Fourth, it begs the question: Were the

Components Of The Information Security Triangle And List...
Pranay Gunna Assignment 1 CECS 631 Fall 2014 09/12/2014 1. Do problem 15 on page 30.
Outline the three components of the information security triangle and list one violation example for
each 1. Confidentiality. Confidentiality means to limit the access to information and access to only
authorized users. This also means preventing accessing to unauthorized users. Protecting valuable
information is very major part of the information security. A key component of confidentiality is
encryption. Encryption makes sure that only the authorized person can have access to information.
To implement confidentiality in your company most things to do is classification into different
levels. Each security level must have their own security restrictions. This component is also closely
linked with privacy. Ensuring confidentiality means that information is organized in terms of who
ought to have access as well as its sensitivity. Example: A breach of confidentiality may take place
through different means, for instance hacking. Hacking is used to access some restricted
information of a company/user. 2. Integrity. Integrity of information means to protect data
/information from being modified by unauthorized users. It also includes the concept of data
integrity. Data integrity refers to the certainty that the data are not tampered with during or after
submission. This means integrity could be compromised: during the upload of data and during the
storage of the document in the database.

John Rupert Martin s quot;Baroque quot; Essay
This book by John Rupert Martin is a good introductory book in the understanding of Baroque
artists and their tremendous variety. Martin defines the Baroque characteristics, but only very
broadly leaving a significant amount of room for the reader to make his own deductions. In general,
Martin believes that the typical definitions of the Baroqueare too restrictive and hence likely to
create more problems of classification and interpretation than it solves. Even the time of the
Baroque is left open to the reader when Martin says the Baroque is roughly comprehended by the
seventeenth century. It is important to note at the outset that this is only a convenient
approximation; for epoch as a whole can certainly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Still, out of all of the artists of the time, Martin believed that Carracci was the one who rescued
painting from its sorry plight. Martin believed that Caravaggio was a great naturalist during the
Baroque and he contributed to the trend of the time. Caravaggio s chiaroscuro throughout most of
his works enabled him to further the idea of realism. Still, Caravaggio is able to maintain his own
individualism and style. Soon after, Martin talks about the works of Bernini. Although Martin
believes that Bernini s efforts of realism are the most amazing, he does not force that idea on the
reader. He simply suggests that Bernini, through his detailed sculptures of flesh, movement, and
grace, gives the viewer a better sense of the moment which is being presented. p
The next theme of the Baroque which is discussed is referred to by Martin as the passions of the
soul. These emotions or in Martin s words, the portrayal of the inner life of man, finally came to
life during the Baroque. The Baroque was a time where no emotion lay hidden and all were to be
felt by both the artist as well as the spectator. Chiaroscuro was a tool used in many paintings to
further the emotional sense in the spectator. Sculpture too, was an emotional ride in the Baroque.
One such work is Bernini s The Ecstasy of St. Teresa.

Baraka And Kaufman
Question: What can be seen by examining the nexus of marginalized experiences expressed in both
Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka s poetry (using critical race theory and queer theory), which
centers on homophobia and racism, and produces cultural isolation, alienation/imprisonment, and a
devastating psychic loneliness.
Question: How does the subject presented in Bob Kaufman and Amiri Barak s poetry polarize a
shift in American Culture and thus redefine what it means to be an American.
Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka as poet activists drew influence from William Blake and Arthur

decontextualized, as if there were no gay culture in which these men participated (or didn t), and as

Kaufman lived, and in New York where Baraka lived, the Beat culture lived in close and
overlapping proximity with a burgeoning gay male community which had cultural but as yet no

Unlike any other form of literature or entertainment, Fairy Tales help children to discover their

had picked them up, she could go. Even though the Birds came and picked up the food,
Cinderella s stepmother still said no. Her stepmother s reasoning for not letting her go was that
she had no clothes and that could not dance. It s hard not to see how hard Cinderella is trying to

The Survival of the Rock Hyrax in Urban Areas
RATIONALE Urbanisation poses a threat to wildlife through habitat destruction and population
fragmentation. As a consequence, urbanisation alters the distribution of species. Yet, urbanisation
creates opportunities for some species to thrive and persist in the urban jungle. Many species have
adapted to urban areas across the globe. However, not all animals living in urban areas adapt to
urban life and instead might be confined to refugia that match the pre existing adaptation to natural
conditions. Therefore, studying the occurrence and persistence of wildlife in urban areas might
provide an understanding how some species can survive urbanisation (Chace Walsh 2006; Sih
2013; Sol et al. 2013; FontГєrbel Tarifa 2013). Wildlife can become pests in urban areas. For
invasive species, these conflicts arise because they exploit newly available niches. For example,
cane toads, Bufo marinus, in Australia, red foxes, Vulpes vulpes, across the globe, and grey
squirrels, Sciurus carolinensis, in Britain (Barr et al. 2002; Saunders et al. 2010; Bateman Fleming
2012). However, for indigenous species, these conflicts can arise through habituation to people
which could lead to these species being viewed as pests due to their behaviours conflicting with
human interests. For example, European badgers, Meles meles, in British residential properties
during foraging and sett construction (Ward et al. 2008). My study is concerned with establishing
how species can survive in urban

George Washington, The World s Greatest Leader Essay
George Washington, The World s Greatest Leader
On April 30, 1789, George Washington took his oath of office as the first President of the United
States. He knew that not only would he be faced with the challenge of leading a young nation
with a plethora of problems, but that his every move and decision would be scrutinized and,
hopefully, emulated by his successors. As the first of every thing (SP), in our situation will serve
to establish a Precedent, he wrote James Madison, it is devoutly wished on my part, that these
precedents may be fixed on true principles. (George Washington). Not only was every decision a
precedent, as stated in mountvernon.org: in every turn America as a young country was in peril;
every decision was layered with implications, competing passions, political pettiness, danger.
(Mount Vernon).
Why did George Washington emerge as the most significant leader in the founding of the United
States of America, even to the extent of being called the Father of the Country? The facts show us
that he led the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary Warover what was at the
time the world s most powerful military. Later, as president, he guided the United States in its
formative years. His leadership and vision established a foundation that would transform America
from 13 loosely connected states into an unequalled economic and military superpower.

Difference Between Classical Conditioning And Operant...
According to Woolfolk (2005), learning is a process which causes permanent changes in
knowledge and behavior through experience. Learning is a key for every child to understand what
is going on around them and how should they react to that stimuli. It involves the use of cognitive
skills to interpret those signals and analyse them accordingly. Defecation or lesion in cognitive sites
may cause mental retardation or learning problems to them, thus, their mental maturity may be lag
behind their current age. The consequence is, they maybe little bit clumsy to understand certain
orders or command given by his or her parents. Conditioning is a primary step for every child to
learn. Morris and Maisto (2005) stated that, the well defined stimuli which may cause the
acquisition of specific pattern of behavior is what conditioning means. It is composed of two types,
Classical Conditioning and Operant Conditioning. Classical Conditioning which is first inspired by

Comparing Confucius And Siddhartha Gautama
Whether rich or poor, leaders have the power to change the world as long as they have the passion
to do so. Confucius and Siddhartha Gautama were both influential guiders whose ideas contrasted
and overlapped. They transformed and modified the way certain people live and prospect things.
Confucius s train of thoughts were necessary to end the boundless hostility and warfare around
him, while the Buddha sought enlightenment and the elimination of suffering.
Confucius s ideology included the belief that people behave exceptionally because it s in their
spirit to do so. Incredibly, with the cruel, bloody wars surrounding him, he was able to have this set
of mind. He desperately looked for ways to bring structure to deal with those devastating times.
Education and intelligence bring people together and he believed that everyone should have the
opportunity to learn. From then on, a person s position in the social hierarchy hinged on their
education, rather than their birth. Being raised in a violent society, he sought peace and
enlightenment. His empowering thoughts punched brutal wars right out of the way. While

The two dramatic texts, the drama Away by Michael Gow and the film stand by me directed by

performed by the Griffin Theatre Company in 1986, it tells the story of three internally conflicted

Canada s Independence Of Canada
Between its establishment and the 1960 s, Canada rarely had any French speaking people in
authoritative or executive positions, and that led Quebecers to fear the loss of their language and
culture. As time approached the 1960 s, the Francophone population grew discontent and ready for
change, and a debate over Quebecs future began, and is still going on today. Much has happened
to make the notion of Quebec s sovereignty highly controversial, and as an issue, it is overlooked
and under acknowledged. There are many concerns over what could happen if Quebec did decide
to succeed from Canada, especially seeing as the province is quite large and happens to be centrally
located in the country. Some people argue that nothing is going to change... Show more content on

The next year, in an attempt to improve the situation, Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau passed an act
and made the country s official languages, both French and English. However, in 1970, things
took a turn for the worst, and the terrorist Quebec Liberation Front [kidnapped] and [killed] the
provincial labor minister, and [took] a British diplomat hostage , Trudeau was forced to use
martial law (Cooper). Eventually, the pressure pushed the issue to an election, in 1980, and, in a
60/40 vote, Quebec ends up remaining a part of Canada, which causes supporters to throw blame
(Cooper). It finally seems like the issue is resolved, but, no less than two years after the election,
the British North America Act is adopted as Canada s constitution, and all of the provinces,
excluding Quebec, meet and change the constitution to give them equal voices in the government,
but Quebec rejects the change (Cohen). By the time the 1990 rolls around, there is still no solution
for the constitution issue, and the debate only grows deeper. In 1992, however, the provinces and
territories compromise, and recognize Quebec as a distinct society , which was rejected later that
year (Cooper). Four years later, everything was authorized to declare Quebec s independence, but,
negotiations with the rest of Canada fail to produce an agreement, so, it fell through. The topic is

The Pont Du Gard In Nimes From 20-16 BCE, And The Pantheon
Roman Architecture has always been embraced deeply due to the simplicity and the aesthetic
sensation it communicates. However, the actual reason it is truly recognized, is by its very
structured and functional design methodology. The idea of design methodology can be broken
down into many aspects. These aspects include ideas such as, materials used (brickand concrete),
design concepts, design techniques (arches, vaults, domes) and how each design satisfies its
intended purpose and large exterior and interior spaces. There are many important Roman designs,
but the two designs that demonstrate the Roman design methodology is the Pont du Gard in Nimes
from 20 16 BCE and The Pantheon from 125 A.D.
To understand, how these designs emphasized ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Pantheon, the primary materials used in the Pantheon include brick, granite, concrete,
volcanic rock. The importance of concrete in this designed is it helped create the so famous
dome in the Pantheon. (Encyclopedia Britannica). The dome has a circular oculus in the middle
which emits light. The heavy dome is held by concrete foundations and is made of concrete
which demonstrates how they mastered concrete so greatly. According to (Encyclopedia
Britannica), the dome measures about 142 feet in diameter and has a rising height of 71 feet
above its base. (The dome also is said to have a brick faced walls inside the design for support.
The design also has arches and vaults that serve as a structural load. The arches are laid around the
dome in a manner that acts as compression to the dome. This design technique of using arches as
support for domes is very crucial to understanding why the Romans could have such heavy
structures. The vaults also served as a crucial aspect in this design because vaults are a series of
arches that create a structural load. The arches helped created compression between the domes and
the vaults which were in the bottom of the pantheon help create compression with the arches
making the dome very strong. Understanding the importance of the arches, vaults and domes in this

A Nation Is A Social Concept With No Uncontroversial...
Nation is a social concept with no uncontroversial definition, but which is most commonly used to
designate larger groups or collectives of people with common characteristics attributed to them
including language, traditions, customs, habits, and ethnicity. A nation, by comparison, is more
impersonal, abstract, and overtly political than an ethnic group. It is a cultural political community
that has become conscious of its autonomy, unity, and particular interests.
According to Ford s National Question: a nation is not a racial or tribal, but a historically
constituted community of people; a nation is not a casual or ephemeral conglomeration, but a
stable community of people ; a nation is formed only as a result of lengthy and systematic
intercourse, as a result of people living together generation after generation ; and, in its entirety: a
nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common
language, territory, economic life, and psychological make up manifested in a common culture.
The nation has been described by Benedict Anderson as an imagined community and by Paul James
as an abstract community . It is an imagined community in the sense that the material conditions
exist for imagining extended and shared connections. It is an abstract community in the sense that it
is objectively impersonal, even if each individual in the nation experiences him or herself as
subjectively part of an embodied unity with others.

The Ongoing Energy Debate
The Ongoing Energy Debate As we all know, the energy debate has been ongoing for decades.
There is a laundry list of opinions concerning energy use and production. When it comes to oil we
are all too aware of the price and demand for what has proven to be the most valued resource on the
planet. Advocates of alternate energies insist that the end of oil is nearer than most of us may think,
while proponents of petroleum assure us that due to technological advancements there are still large
untapped reserves which promise to see us through the next century despite our increasing demand
for this black gold.
One proponent of alternate energies, James Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency outlines the
need for an alternative fuel source, but also explains the pit falls of alternate energy sources. The
reason oil is such a valued and highly used commodity is because of its efficiency and wide
range of uses compared to other energy sources. The truth is that no matter what proponents of
alternate energies say, there is no good substitute at this time for oil which is largely the reason
we re still using it. Kunstler explains the pitfalls of hydrogen energy, coal and solar. The
hydrogen used in fuel cells is largely derived from natural gas resources, coal is less versatile and
solar energy is expensive to produce. Considering the cost of oil at the consumer level it seems
common sense that if there was a cheaper, comparably efficient substitute we would be jumping at

The Marketing Mix 1: Products, Brands Their Distribution
Question 1: Explain what Fournier means by having a relationship with a brand.
Establishing a relationship with a product brand sounds like a strange thing, we often have
numerous relationships with the brands of products we purchase without even knowing why we
do. The article by Fournier plainly defines that for a relationship with a brand to exist there must be
some kind of interdependence between the product and the partner. The interdependence with the
brand may be emotionally, economically, Robert B. Hinde (1979) best defines this interdependence
relationship;

The two brands I have chosen from the product categories are a dentist and auto repair. Let s first
look at the dentist and try and decipher if a customer could have a relationship with this provided
service. When you visit the dentist you can pretty much say that it becomes a personal experience.
When you allow someone to open your mouth and stick sharp objects in it, you must or have
developed some kind of relationship with that individual. That relationship may have been
established over time through quality service or you have visited this dentist as a kid. How does
this apply to someone who visits this dentist for the first time? A bond of trustworthiness must be
initially established by a first time customer to complete the dyad. When dealing in a human to
human interaction, and especially with a medical procedure being accomplished, relationships are
essential. Both parties in this dyad are essentially providing a service to each other which clearly
establishes a formed relationship with this service or individual brand.
When trying to define a relationship with an auto repair service brand I believe that there is also a
clear relationship in this matter also. Trustworthiness is also a major factor in this relationship, who
would want to take their automobile to an auto repair service that they do not

greenhouse effect on earth that is attributed to deforestation and industrial air emissions (MS

Many of the earth?s water supplies would be in danger because of incursions of seawater, and the
effects of incurring seawater could be fatal for many species (129). . If one species goes extinct
then in the long run humans suffer. Basic food pyramid principles can be applied to conclude the
effects of species extinction.
When the polar ice caps melt more water is added to the atmosphere. One finding suggests that
the ocean water is less salty then it was under the ice twenty years earlier this would tend to
confirm that the melting and shrinking of the ice caps has already taken place (Barker 43). In
general more rain would occur causing a more humid climate. Heavy rains would cause
mudslides like they did in California last summer killing many people (Cook 58). The rains in
California were torrential and the worst the state has seen in many years (Hayden 13). If the ocean
rises that much then the saltwater incursions would eliminate much of the fresh water in the world.
Moisture fuels many of the worst storms in the world. If the ice caps melt obviously much more
water will be added to the atmosphere. Hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, typhoons, cyclones, and
monsoons, are a few of the most dangerous storms fueled by heat and water. Most people know the
catastrophes that all of these storms have created throughout the years. Recently the worst cyclone
in 25 years hit India killing more than 400 people and in Africa unusually strong rains

Theodore Roethke Essays
Theodore Roethke
Roethke was a great poet, the successor to Frost and Stevens in modern American poetry, and it is
the measure of his greatness that his work repays detailed examination (Parini 1). Theodore
Roethke was a romantic who wrote in a variety of styles throughout his long successful career.
However, it was not the form of his verse that was important, but the message being delivered and
the overall theme of the work. Roethke was a deep thinker and often pondered about and reflected
on his life. This introspection was the topic of much of his poetry. His analysis of his self and his
emotional experiences are often expressed in his verse. According to Ralph J. Mills Jr., this self
interest was the primary matter of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roethke married Beatrice O Connell, a former student at Bennington College, in 1953. Roethke
published many volumes of poetry throughout his career. His first volume, Open House,
published in 1941, was filled with images of growth and decay and had short unrhymed verses
(Encarta). According to Allan Seager, most of the reviews were good and those that contained
adverse criticisms tacitly acknowledged that it was the work of a genuine poet and not a beginner
(Contemporary Authors 476). His next two volumes, The Lost Son and Other Poems (1948) and
Praise to the End! (1951) were expressions of his explorations of his interior self. After reading The
Lost Son and Other Poems, Richard Blessing claimed To my mind, the transformation of Theodore
Roethke from a poet of lyric resourcefulness, technical proficiency, and ordered sensibility to a
poet of indomitable creativeness and audacity, difficult, heroic, moving, and profoundly
disquieting is one of the most remarkable in American history (Contemporary Authors 478).
Roethke received a Pulitzer Prize in 1953 for The Waking. Words for the Wind (1958) won both
the National Book Award and the Bollingen Prize. The Far Field, which was published
posthumously in 1964, won the National Book Award for

Essay On Great Smoky
The fact invariably stated about Great Smoky is this: It is the nation s busiest park, drawing
more than nine million visitors a year, twice the number of any other national park. Most of the
millions see the park from a mountain skimming scenic highway that, on a typical weekend day
during the summer, draws 60,000 people, bumper to bumper. Luckily, there is plenty of park,
thinly laced by 384 miles of mountain roads. You can pull off the road, park the car, and stroll
one of Great Smoky s many Quiet Walkways, quarter mile paths into what the signs call a little
bit of the world as it once was. Eight hundred miles of hiking trails, from a half mile to 70 miles
long, also give you that world. Relatively few visitors walk the trails; most prefer to stay in their
cars. The park, which... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Most people left when the park was founded, but some chose to stay and live out their lives here.

The Hunger Games, Catching Fire, and Mockingjay. The story begins by introducing you to our
main character Katniss Everdeen who lives in a world run by the Capitol where President Snow
resides and has enforced a form of martial law on all 13 districts. Every year the Capitol hosts
their annual Hunger Games which is a form of entertainment for the Capitol. Out of every
district two tributes, one boy and one girl will be picked to participate in the Hunger Games
which is a battle to the death. Whichever tribute manages to survive till the end will be rewarded
by getting to stay in the capitol and their district will be given more food and supplies. The
reason Katniss becomes a part of the games is because her little sister prim is chosen during the

How Did Janis Joplin Influence Popular Culture
In the late 1960 s, the height of her career, Janis Joplin was titled the Queen of Rock n Roll . To
this day, she still lives on as one of the most influential women in the music industry. Her raspy,
blues inspired voice left audiences speechless, and her success paved the way for the advancement
of women in the music industry. Her lyrics reflected her carefree spirit and love of the blues, but
also her opinions on social and political issues. These positions made her an outcast before her
fame, but today they are part of the reason she is so respected. Janis Joplin was born on January
19th, 1943, in Port Arthur, Texas. Port Arthur was a conservative town, which was hard for
Janis. She was different from her peers, and not well liked. In an interview on the Dick Cavett
show, when discussing why she left Texas, Janis said They laughed me out of class, out of town,
and out of the state (qtd. in Janis Interview). She dressed how she wanted, often wearing clothing
meant for men; she didn t discriminate against black people; and she loved the blues. Rock n roll

disadvantages of the property tax as a revenue source? In response to these questions, make sure to
refer to the main principles of taxation (equity, efficiency, adequacy of revenue, political feasibility,
and cost of administration), tax and expenditure limitations, as well as the importance of revenue
diversification for local government.
Historically, property taxes have been the primary source of the local government s income. In fact,

This could lead to that individual moving to another location, also known as gentrification.
Political feasibility is high since it has historically been a consistent source of revenue. Cost of
administration would be relatively low since property taxes, in terms of keeping track of
properties, is relatively easy because of its tangibility and lack of mobility.
With respect to revenue diversification, local governments have attempted to diversify their
sources of revenue by implementing one or a combination of these taxes: sales taxes, income
taxes, game of chance taxes (gambling, races, lotter, and their derivatives), user charge taxes, and
sumptuary taxes (cigarettes, alcohol, and their derivatives) (Lee, Johnson, and Joyce, 2013). In
circumstances that affect the primary source of revenue, having access to other sources may serve
as a buffer for the local government. However, the problems with these sorts of taxes is
uncertainty. Property tax, as stated earlier is the most reliable while income or sales taxes rely on
income/ salaried employees and consumption of products, respectively.

expenditures. Explain Florida s experience with the consensus forecasting process. Discuss which

Useless Factlets 229: Narrowly Missed Apocalypses
North Korea has been acting pretty crazy lately, which I think has some people a little anxious. It s
been since the fall of the Soviet Union that there was this much nuclear nervousness, which makes
it a great time to clue you all in to just how close we ve come to total annihilation.
The Cold Warwas a pretty insane time. I remember some of it from my childhood in the 80s the
Soviets were pretty much the boogie man from the 1950s 1990s. Go watch some 80s era Twilight

Before anything truly insane happened, it was discovered that someone inserted the attack
simulation tape in the computer by mistake. I thought it was my Three s Company tape! Real sorry,
guys!
If that wasn t a close enough call, again in 1983, the systems all go bonkers, indicating hundreds of
incoming missiles. Then indicating 2 missiles. Then 0. Then 250. Hey, Jim what s your warning
count on inbound missiles? 8? Mine says 98. WTH?
This time, it was a burned out computer chip that caused the glitch. As was the case in the 79
scare, cooler heads prevailed by checking the raw data from our defense satellites, which showed
no missiles.
But none of this is nearly as terrifying as when the Soviet systems glitched out.
The Soviet ICBM warning system came later than our own and was different in a way they
thought would prevent false alarms. We had DTS satellites that scanned the whole planet s surface
for launches. The Soviet system focused on just the mainland US s launch sites. Their satellite
scanned the edge of earth s atmosphere, where a missile would easily show up against the vast,
empty blackness of space. This would reduce natural phenomena being mistaken for launches.
Pretty fresh thinking and to keep the planet safe as possible. Except their system was buggier than
ours.

Get Paid For Grades
Title of Your Report
Should students be paid for receiving good grades? Yes students should get paid for having good
grades. Many students don t really care about their grades because they don t get a reward. Many
teens don t do nothing to fix their grades they only fix it when they are on a sport. If parents would
reward them for having good grades students would have A and B. Students should get paid
because it teaches to be responsible with money, it can also motivate them, and it can help them in
the future.
To begin, Students could be responsible with things if they could see how hard it is to earn what
they want. Money teaches teens to save and only buy what they need not what they want. Most
parents reward students with money because students want to buy lunch because they don t like
school lunches. Teens are spending most of their money on food. Rewarding students makes them
feel to try harder and harder each time.
Another reason, Parents can motivate students by paying them for having excellent grades and
excellent behavior. Well you might be asking yourself how does money benefit students? Well it
motivate teens to maintain high grades. And it can actually help them in the future for example for
college. Another question you might have is how much should i paid my student? Well most parents

A MODEST PROPOSAL FOR THE PURPOSE OF PREVENTING THE BURDEN OF THE
IMPOVERISHED AND UNDESIRED AS WELL AS THE ABUNDANT PRESENCE OF
NUCLEAR WARHEADS FROM OVERWHELMING OUR NOBLE SOCIETY It is a painful,
depressing sight for those who walk through our great cities, or travel all over the world to behold
those impoverished, bereft folk who have plagued and infested our society with their existence
since the very conception of the space time continuum. These individuals are only capable of, in the
long run, contributing to the poor economy and abysmal unemployment rates that they suffer from,
and their presence is no trivial problem that we as a responsible and respectable society can afford
to ignore. Furthermore, this is far from our only urgent... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
I think it can be agreed upon by all men and women with sound minds that nuclear warheads are
nothing more than trouble; outdated and admittedly empty threats. After all, the most dangerous
part of a ginormous bomb is not the actual explosion, but the potential threat created by it.
Having had a sufficient time to process my findings, I m sure that you will be happy to know
that my humble proposal for action is deceivingly simple. Of course, society should expect no
less from one who is of considerable intellect, as I am. The benefits of my scheme, however, are
not so few and blunt, and there are a myriad of immediate and delayed bonuses from going
through with my plan. The number of individuals who are either poor, devoid of purpose, or both
has reached an approximate value of four and a half billion. Additionally, the average international
IQ has dropped by almost 20% in the last three years, the first time in human history that we have
collectively gotten less intelligent. In fact, one in five people in first world countries have a
genuine, unironic adoration for country music, an unprecedented and incredibly disconcerting

Presidential vs. Parliamentary Political Systems Essay
Presidential vs. Parliamentary Political Systems
There are two main types of political systems, one being a presidential system and the other being
a parliamentary system. Both of them have their own benefits as well as their own disadvantages.
No political system can be perfect or can always have stability, but shown in history there are
successful countries that use either one. Also there are countries that have failed with one of the
two systems.
Firstly there is the presidential system. There are many characteristics to a presidential system.
The first main part of a presidential system is how the executive is elected. The executive is a
president who is elected to a fixed term. Also a president is not only head of ... Show more content

The monarch is a figure head and does no decision making. The voters of a parliamentary system
elect parliament who then elect the prime minister and the cabinet. The prime minister is normally
the leader of the most popular party in parliament. The PM even being the head of government is
not as powerful as the head of government in a presidential system. The parliament of the system
withholds the most power. They make or break any law. Compared to the separation of powers as
in a presidential system there is only a separation of functions. Each part of government has its own
function to perform, but there is no system of checks and balances. An example of the overlapping
of powers is the need of a vote of confidence. A vote of confidence is proposed by a party and
needs backing from the other part of government. With no system of sorts there is more likely of
upheaval and change of rule. There is not as much stability in a parliamentary system as there is
in a presidential. Lastly there is no judicial rule as there is in a presidential system. A
parliamentary system has had success in the past but still is seen as not as successful as a
presidential system.
Most European countries have a parliamentary political system. Britain has a parliamentary system.
Britain s system starts at the voters who vote for Parliament. Parliament then elects and can oust the
executive branch, which is headed by a prime

Suicide Impact On Society
A common misconception faced by society is that a crime can be truly victimless. It is true that
not all crimes are intended to harm other individuals or oneself, however, this is an after effect that
is directly caused by the breaking of a law. What are commonly seen as victimless crimes pertaining
to consenting adults performing illegal actions can cause harm. Such crimes that are considered to
be victimless include: suicide, consensual fights, and drug use. Not only are these crimes seen as
controversial topics in the public eye, but, they show the direct unintentional physical and mental
harm that is placed on society.
Impact on Society of Suicide Suicide is a controversial topic in today s society, as some
individuals believe it causes no effect on other individuals. This statement, however, is false
because not only will it affect your family but it effects your colleagues, friends, and even old
classmates. One of the hardest things that a community can face is the loss of a young person s
life, as it effects everyone in the community. This death can lead to multiple community members
feeling guilty, not only for not having prevented the suicide, but also due to distress, anger, and
confusion. More specifically, in regards to family members, it can lead to mental illnesses such as
depression, anxiety, divorce, and are at higher risk to commit suicide themselves (Tracy, 2016, para.
3,4,5,6,7,8,9). The distress not only will have short term effects but it will

Scarlet Letter Nature Quotes
Danish author Hans Christian Andersen once said, Just living is not enough... one must have
sunshine, freedom, and a little flower. A person should be able to find beauty in nature to truly
live their life. Nature gives symbols for how life happens. Every spring trees comeback to life
and every winter trees die . Sunshine gives warmth and life to the plants. By being free to live
however they please, plants are given the truth of how life truly is. People have to find natureand
believe in the power of nature to explore life. Just as Hans Christian Andersen believes one should
find nature, Nathaniel Hawthorne believes nature should be shown in The Scarlet Letter. In The

Hester brings up this idea because she has had time away from the town and had no one to guide
her on this path that she took. She does not think about how townspeople are going to perceive
her and Dimmesdale leaving simultaneously. Hester very much resembles the forest because the
forest cannot be tamed. The forest grows how it wants and only stops when others force it to.
Hester will only gain guidance when the town forces her to listen to them. The forest also knows
to show who Hester and Dimmesdale are inside: Such was the sympathy of Nature that wild,
heathen Nature of the forest, never subjugated by human law, nor illuminated by higher truth
with the bliss of these two spirits! (139). The forest shows the truth about the townspeople. The
forest was always dark around Hester when she had her letter on because of her sin. Hester
removes her letter once she and Dimmesdale confirm that they are going to go to Europe. Once
Hester removes her scarlet letter, the whole forest lights up. Hester has removed the symbol of
her wrongdoing because it no longer is a part of her. Seven years has past and no one in the town
remembers what the A stands for anymore. They believe that it means able because Hester has
dedicated her life to making clothes for the townspeople. She never commits her transgression
again and works to make her life good. The forest reflects who the townspeople are and shows their

Essay on Reflexivity and Modern Works of Anthropology
Reflexivity and Modern Works of Anthropology
The role of reflexivity in Anthropology has changed a great deal over time. The effects of doing
ethnography on the ethnographer was not considered an important mode of inquiry in the past.
While inevitably, going to far distant lands and living with a culture so different from your own
will at least cause the ethnographer to reflect on personal issues but most likely will cause
profound changes in the way he or she will view the world. But in the past these changes were not
important. What was necessary for the ethnographer to do in the past was to document a culture
break it down structurally and quantify the observations made. The reflexive nature of his or her
experiences were of little ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
(Malinowski, 11) This basically means that it is the role of the ethnographer to rationalize and
put in writing the ways of existence of another culture. What he gains from the experience of
living with the trobriand islanders is of no concern the people he was writing for. It is my belief
that perhaps the reason that the anthropologists of the past have placed so much importance on
structuralizing and bringing into written fruition the laws that the natives live by but are not
aware of, is to give others the idea that their research and inquiry are purely scientific and by no
means reflexive. The reason that they do this is probably to get backing by institutions in order
so they may have their travels paid for and so they may be recognized as a scholar by a scholarly
reading audience.
As time has gone on more and more Anthropologists have talked about how their ethnographic
research has effected their thinking. At first they integrated the reflexive nature of their research in
a sort of roundabout way. For instance the notion that different cultures and peoples really don t
structure their realities all that differently. (Levi Strauss) While this may not seem to be reflexive
and it definitely is not blatantly expressed in the text, it is more philosophical and more geared
towards stimulating thoughts about the nature of life as we know it. While Levi Strauss may not
have stated this outright (he still had to appear

Engaging The Adult Learner For Adult Learners
Engaging the Adult Learner
Jeffery Collins
COLL100 B100 Fall 14
American Military University
Dr. Gibson Engaging the Adult Learner
Engaging adults during the learning process is an action that encompasses the use of skills to
conquer their concentration and interest. The engagement is performed to ensure the adult learners
will immediately identify with the information and the objective of the teaching. Once the
identification and objectivity is formed learning is able to proceed. Therefore, the engagement
process for adult learners must be unique and display sensitivity in an effort to achieve learning.
Moreover, it is necessary for adults to know their efforts put towards lifelong learning will have
meaningful value later.
Engaging
The overreaching goal of engagement during the instructional process is to achieve learning (J.J
Keller Associates, n.d.). Learning is the process by which a new skillset or information is acquired
through review, practical exercise, and experience to name a few producing understanding or
skillfulness (Merriam Webster, n.d.). In an effort to facilitate learning during engagement of the
adult learner, considerations should be applied and adjusted if needed to the presentation of the
material which contributes to optimal learning. Optimal learning for the adult provides for
engagement and allows retention of knowledge to transpire which is impacted by the training
approach of the instructor (Kelly, 2006). The instructor s teaching

Money In The Great Gatsby Analysis
Dirty Money Offering a glimpse at the world in the 1920s, F. Scott Fitzgerald weaves the skewed
mindsets of money oriented Americans in all of the distinct social groups into his novel The Great
Gatsby. Despite the characters beliefs, money is actually destructive; it turns them into the worst
versions of themselves. As the newcomer Nick Carraway delves into the world of the East and West
Eggers, Fitzgerald details the detrimental repercussions of depending on money. Born into their
wealth, the Buchanans fashion the concept that old money abuses their power and hides in the
safety of their wealth. They comfortably fall back into their money to excuse their actions flaunting
when they can and fleeing when they want to. While visiting his mistress Myrtle, Tom gets angry
and [breaks] her nose with his open hand (Fitzgerald 37). He believes that his wealth justifies this
sort of conduct; women like Myrtle are disposable and replaceable, therefore, he can abuse them.
Tainted with immorality and brutality, he objectifies women, buying, using, and discarding them as
he pleases. His materialistic view of the world generates his superior attitude that fuels his violent
behaviors. Following Myrtle s death, the Buchanans escape from the scene, epitomizing Nick s idea
that they [smash] up things and creatures and then [retreat] back into their money (Fitzgerald 180).
This couple wreaks havoc, but they find a way to slip out unpunished and unaffected. After creating

Caribbean Family Structure
Left. Jump. Duck. Run. Right. Shoot. The boy sits on the TV playing his video games. His sister
just returned from the mall with her friends. They are waiting for their mother and father to come
home from work, as they do every day. This is one common family structure in the America society,
but other societies, such as the Caribbean, also have familystructure. How are the infrastructures in
the Caribbean society different and similar to American society familial infrastructures? How are
these family structures preparing their children for a future within their respective societies? The
main people preparing these children are the parents.
In Caribbean societies, Men are valued more than females and are seen as the primary
disciplinarians and decision makers ( Family Structure ). The men are the unilateral money
makers for their families. They also have little to no relationship with their children, if they do, it
is with the son. In America, the fathers usually work but, sometimes, they are stay at home dads
and care for the house and the children. For example, in my family, my father worked during the
time my sister was alive but, when I was born, he quit work and became a stay at home dad. The
fathers in Caribbean and American societies have one main difference, Caribbean dads always work
and never have a relationship with their children while American fathers tend to have a better
relationship with their children. However, they have one similarity, most of the time,

Pros And Cons Of DRE Research
There are a great deal of reforms and frustration due to the DRE machines because they are
outdated and the government officials are not doing enough for the activist voters. The people in
numerous states have taken legal action to either improve DRE machines or get rid of them.
There are cases and lawsuits that were filed against states in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Arizona,
New York, California, New Mexico and Colorado. (Boyle,M. Davis E., Flanagan J., and Steigleder
S. 2016) The voters complaints are most likely because of the DRE method likelihood of failing to

Davis E., Flanagan J., and Steigleder S). The impact that it has on the election process will change
the election history. Because of the voting machines malfunction and have security issues there has
to be some kind of authority that can protect these machines from fraud, hacking, and breakdowns.
Consequently, the matter gets worse in some states and local counties. In order to fulfill the
people satisfaction, the government need to do two duties. The first process that the State must
do is require all voting machines to produce a voter s confirmation which will be used for
auditing purposes to see if vote match with hand count records (National Conference of State
Legislature. 2016). The counties can only do little because it needs the states approval and
financial funding. The second process is the federal and states cooperation of buying voting
machines or update the system so that it can produce paper records (National Conference of State
Legislature. 2016). Many states lack the ability to deliver the requirements unless the federal law

The Similarities between Angelina Jolie and Beowulf Essay
Throughout time, heroes have stereotypically been described as men who possess qualities such
as courage, strength, leadership, and determination. Certainly, many of these characteristics have
changed as time has passed. In modern society, heroes can simply be average people who
sacrifice their own happiness for the welfare of others and do their best to create a change in the
world. Beowulf, an extraordinary warrior in the Anglo Saxon period, is an epic herobecause of his
pride, strength and courage. He fought many battles in order to protect the Danes from chaos.
Angelina Jolie, like Beowulf, is a hero because she defeats every impediment to help and fight
against inequality. Heroes do not wait still in one place.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He did not give up while fighting with the brawny monster Grendel, even though Grendel clutched
at [him] with his claws (Beowulf 428). According to Milena Veselinovico, the author of leading
women, Angelina Jolie has risked her life to protect refugees in many countries in Africa. She went
to Sudan during a tremendous conflict and Chad during the civil war. She could have been
assassinated, but her thirst of justice could not be sate easily; she kept helping no matter the
circumstances. In able to be a hero, one must be internally strong to triumph obstacles life brings
and never back down when conflicts arrive.
Heroes often combat injustice to win equality and peace. Beowulf saves the Danes by fighting the
monster Grendel, but Angelina Jolie saves refugees by fighting the figurative monster of
inequality. In the mead hall, the place the Anglo Saxon warriors celebrated their battles, everyone
was terrified to fight Grendel because he was powerful and seemingly undefeatable. Beowulf
fought the abominable beast and obtained the glory of tranquility for the Danes because he wanted
to live in greatness and courage (368 369). Angelina Jolie keeps fighting with the invincible
monster of inequality that is happening in some parts of Africa and gives part of her fortune to
refugees who suffer from hunger and persecution. A hero does not need to fight a monster,
sometimes the injustice is the monster itself.
As time has passed,

The Three Primary Components Of Metatheory Theory
a.Metatheory is a theory about theory and it allows us to understand the philosophy driving our
decisions about research methods, designs, and analysis. The three primary components of
metatheory are ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Ontology is the study of the nature of
reality; ontological scholars have two main stances: realist or nominalist. A realist believes that
reality is orderly, fixed, and measureable, while a nominalist believes that reality is subjective.
Similar to nominalists are social constructivists, their views of reality are subjective as well. As for
epistemology, the study of nature of knowledge; the two opposing stances are objectivist position
or subjectivist position. Objectivists believe it is possible to know and explain the world by
studying objective reality, as for subjectivists who can only understand the world from the involved
individuals; often times leaving bias opinions. Lastly, axiology is the study of values; the values in
beauty and aesthetics by judging the good or bad within them.
b.Relational Dialectics Theory
The ontological assumptions of relational dialectics theory use a nominalist and social
constructivist stance because as stated on page 33 of the textbook, Reality is both orderly and
chaotic. Reality is subjective. Rawlin s six main dialectic tensions involve six scenarios where it is
a push or pull style. These scenarios indicate involving an individual s experience. Therefore, the
reality of relational dialectics

The Legality Of Conversion Therapy
The Legality of Conversion Therapy
The issues surrounding sexuality and gender nonconforming individuals in the United States have
played an increasingly large role in modern politics since the mid 20th century. These issues,
commonly referred to LGBT rights, directly affect the lives of a vast number of American citizens
and, as such, any legislation addressing these issues is public policy. The growing demand for
equality among the LGBT community has resulted in a number of Supreme Court cases and
legislation addressing commonly debated issues such as marriage and employment discrimination.
Though these particular issues have received attention from Congress, there are still other problems

Conversion therapy was deemed unethical by both the American Psychiatric Association (APA) and
the American Psychological Association. The APA, world s largest professional psychiatric
organization and publisher of the DSM, confirmed that the potential risks of conversion therapy are
great, including depression, anxiety and self destructive behavior, since therapist alignment with
societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self hatred already experienced by the
patient. (Psychiatry.org) These claims were made evident to the public in the recent suicide of a
transgender girl named Leelah Alcorn. Leelah, whose gender identity was rejected by her heavily
religious parents, noted conversion therapy sessions as a catalyst in her mental decline, which
ultimately lead to her untimely death (Fox).
Supporters of conversion therapy argue that, like all other therapies, participation is voluntary and
an individual should not be restricted from seeking it. This argument ignores the fact that many
minors are sent conversion therapy against their will. This was the basis for the 2012 lawsuit
Pickup v. Brown, in which the plaintiff, a conversion therapist, argued that the California ban on
conversion therapy for minors violated an individual s First Amendment right, among others
(Pickup). A unanimous decision upheld the ban, citing the 1979

  • 2. 7 Habits For Highly Effective People Analysis In Steven Covey s 7 Habits for Highly Effective People, seven habits to achieving a life one desires and creating a better world by being a more conscious and thoughtful citizen. Dr. Magee during her Listening lectures explains, however, that these habits however cannot be achieved without dedicating some time to bolster one s listening skills. This will examine how the seven habits are affected by listening. Habit one is to be proactive. This means that to focus one s time and energy over things they can control. During the listening lectures, Dr. Magee explains that to be proactive is important to listen to the world around one s self so they may be able to respond in the appropriate way. Habit two is to begin with the end in mind. This means to know and envision who you want to be and what you want in life. To develop a personal mission statement one must listen to themselves to know what values and desires they have and want to put out into the world.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This means to focus on the important priorities to organize and manage time and events according to personal priorities. This requires a combination of listening skills, to listen one s self and to others to complete the assignments and tasks in order of importance. Habit four is to seek a win win. This means to see life as cooperative not competitive. A person who does this often times has integrity, maturity and abundance mentality. This habit also requires combination listening. One needs to listen to themselves so they may offer their true ideas to others and listen to others to collaborate and create something better than ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Sexuality Of Social Stigma One young man from Michigan states that, My stepfather caught me watching the show once, and treated me like I was mentally ill (thankfully, he s mentioned it to no one else)... I m still afraid of social stigma for being public about my appreciation for the show. Bussey and Bandura would suggest that this is a standard practice for fathers reacting more negatively to their son s gender infractions. For many people, it is hard to see men occupy a feminized space and still see them as masculine. After discovering the Brony fandom, many people have questions regarding the sexuality of the fandom such as the following Yahoo Answers post from a concerned parent of a fan: Well I just created my account, so I can ask this. Yesterday I came home from work early, and I walked up to my 15 year old sons [sic] room. When I opened it, I saw him with headphones watching My little pony . He didn t notice me, so I just acted like nothing happened. Could he be gay, or just likes the show? Update: Please explain what a brony is. Are they a gay group of men? Or sonthing [sic] else? Learning that his adolescent son is watching a cartoon about ponies, this parent draws the conclusion that his child is gay. His assumptions demonstrate how members of society regard masculine space because enjoying ponies relegates young men into an effeminate position. Thankfully, there are number of people who answer his question by explaining the fandom to him. Questions of sexuality are the largest ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Collegiate Athlete Argumentative Essay Perfection is not attainable, but if we chase perfection we can catch excellence (Vince Lombardi). Collegiate athletes have the best chance of success in college, because they constantly get pressure from the coaches to get good grades, won t have any debt after college because they are on full scholarship and playing sports helps builds social network. Coaches keep players on their toes by staying on them every second of the day to keep their grades up. If coaches didn t stay on their players about their grades, then they will be lackadaisical about their school work. Coaches and players have a hand and hand relationship, players feed off their coaches enthusiasm. Everyday in practice and workouts there is not a day where our coaches don t speak on grades, tutors or even establishing a relationship with our professors. As an athlete grades are everything because without passing grades, according to the NCAA you are not permitted to participate in any collegiate sports if your are meeting the academic requirements. Student athletes on full scholarship receive free tuition and fees, free room and board at an institution of higher learning. A regular student that s not on on scholarship has to come out of pocket and pay for everything. They take out student loans to cover whatever they need so they can attend the school. So a student has to work twice as hard as an athlete just to keep their head above water, they have to try and maintain a job and their school work so hopefully once they graduate they won t have outstanding ... • 5. The Problem Of A Resident And Educator In Los Angeles, the traditional definition of the word affordable must be abandoned when searching for housing. If you are relocating to the Los Angeles area from a mid sized city or small town, the first thing you should do is let go of what affordable means in places other than Los Angeles. Affordable in The Midwest and The South is $650 for a nice one bedroom apartment. In Los Angeles, $600 per month will land you in a roach infested downtown flop house or sharing a one bedroom apartment with three roommates. So, what are you willing to put up with? What kind of nightlife do you enjoy? What is your diet like and can you survive without a Whole Foods or Trader Joe s near by? Do you depend on the amenities and safety of the suburbs?(Schools and family oriented information will not be covered in this article, because as a resident and educator, I would NEVER suggest moving children into this adult oriented metropolis) Families should head for what is known as The West Side and unfortunately there are no affordable neighborhoods out west. When a single person or couple is determining what is affordable in Los Angeles, they must consider location, amenities and crime rates. The following breakdown of neighborhoods within Los Angeles Countyand Hollywood provides insight to the eclectic affordable sections of town: Looking for an affordable neighborhood might lead you to Koreatown, where a large studio apartment averages about $750 per month. • 6. South Sister Case Study Summary of Geological History Roughly 45 50,000 years ago the South Sister that is also known as Charity began its primary formation. It is the youngest of the three sisters and currently the tallest. According to https://www.volcanodiscovery.com/ this time period is known as the Rock Mesa Eruptive Cycle and it is during this cycle that the middle sister also began forming. According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov these early eruptions produced many rhyolite lava flows and domes. Between 30 37,000 years ago the main cone of the south sister began to form consisting of rhyolite and andesite domes and flows. The construction of the dome was then completed and capped off by a massive eruption that left pyroclastic deposits up to 200 meters in depth. Following this eruption a period of roughly 7000 years began that consisted of relatively large eruptions of andesite and lava fountains. According to https://volcanoes.usgs.gov these lava fountains fed lava flows that built up the apron of the cone and the initial summit crater. This crater was later filled up and built upon by dactite flows, which now make up roughly the upper 150 meters of todays South Sister.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the lava was released during the event was from a vent at 2400 meters elevation on the South Sister. This lava flow formed the Newberry Crater Flow. • 7. Prostitution of Minors Prostitution of minors occurs all around the world. We do not notice because it may not concern us, and it is difficult to act when something does not affect us in any way. It affects you if you have children or nieces who are under age right now selling themselves to help out their families who are in need of money. What would you do right then to help them get out of that situation? That s what s going on in Europe right now when you visit, is the same thing that is happening in Mexico. There are many young girls selling themselves because they have to work to support their family. I had a personal experience with this issue when I took a trip down to Mexico with my cousins once. It was around 1:00 a.m, and we were heading back to the borderline to cross back into the U.S. On our way there I saw an empty building that was full of women and children standing outside. I told my cousin to stop, and I got out of the car to ask a girl who looked to be around 9 or 10 years old, what she was doing there I will never forget her words, I came here to work to help out with money because right now I m the only one who can . I told my cousin to help the girl with some money she could go home for the day, so that she did not have to do this at least for a day. Those words of hers have stuck with me to this day. Seeing these children out there that have to resort to these acts to support their family seems unfair because they are not the parents. The parents should be the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 9. Overcoming My Obstacles Throughout life, many individuals encounter things in their life that they find difficult to overcome. Many of which overcome such obstacles quickly, while others fail to overcome them at all or at least it takes them a much longer time to do so. I fall into the third type of individual. The obstacle that I had to face deal with my disability in the sense of people undermining my capabilities. I was born with a disability called myelomeningocele. For those who don t know what this is, myelomeningocele is basically a type of spina bifida that is a defect of the spine and spinal cord where the spinal canal and the backbone is not closed before delivering a baby. In my case, the defect wasn t as severe compared to others who have the same disorder. Passover Tradition Using Christ s last Passover meal, where He introduced the first instance of what is now the Lord s Supper, as an example, we see that since AD 30 it has continued to evolve into a tradition that no longer closely resembles the original one of 1446 B.C. Today, the holiday is becoming even more individualistic, while still holding traditional values. Likewise, the Christian Communion has changed considerably. For years it was observed, like the one in the Upper Room following Jesus resurrection. Then when the Church began to move out of people s homes and into buildings, the meal was discontinued. Today, in some Christian faiths, there is tremendous ritual and rules. In others, it is very informal. Communion elements in prepackaged individually... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Quite often the only aspect of the ritual that resembles the first is the quoting of the Scripture. Yet, that is rather remarkable considering the historical timeline of the Christian faith through centuries of changes. The exegesis of this passage brings to light many important principles. First, the tradition of Passover is nearly 3500 years old. Through devout practitioners, certain elements of the tradition have continued against all odds, especially the recounting of historic events and the focus on hope and thanksgiving. Second, the tradition of remembering Jesus sacrifice on the cross through thanksgiving, breaking bread and drinking of the cup has continued for over 2000 years. Readings from Scripture, whether from Matthew, Mark, Luke, John or 1 Corinthians, keeps the tradition alive. It is a reminder of deliverance from sin and death and the promise of eternal salvation. Third, it is suggested that Jesus will at some point again eat of the Passover meal, although it is uncertain if that is literal, figurative or both. This speaks to the Jewish Christian that the Passover observance is not to be discontinued. Fourth, it begs the question: Were the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Outline the three components of the information security triangle and list one violation example for each 1. Confidentiality. Confidentiality means to limit the access to information and access to only authorized users. This also means preventing accessing to unauthorized users. Protecting valuable information is very major part of the information security. A key component of confidentiality is encryption. Encryption makes sure that only the authorized person can have access to information. To implement confidentiality in your company most things to do is classification into different levels. Each security level must have their own security restrictions. This component is also closely linked with privacy. • 12. John Rupert Martin s quot;Baroque quot; Essay This book by John Rupert Martin is a good introductory book in the understanding of Baroque artists and their tremendous variety. Martin defines the Baroque characteristics, but only very broadly leaving a significant amount of room for the reader to make his own deductions. In general, Martin believes that the typical definitions of the Baroqueare too restrictive and hence likely to create more problems of classification and interpretation than it solves. Even the time of the Baroque is left open to the reader when Martin says the Baroque is roughly comprehended by the seventeenth century. It is important to note at the outset that this is only a convenient approximation; for epoch as a whole can certainly... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Still, out of all of the artists of the time, Martin believed that Carracci was the one who rescued painting from its sorry plight. Martin believed that Caravaggio was a great naturalist during the Baroque and he contributed to the trend of the time. Caravaggio s chiaroscuro throughout most of his works enabled him to further the idea of realism. Still, Caravaggio is able to maintain his own individualism and style. Soon after, Martin talks about the works of Bernini. Although Martin believes that Bernini s efforts of realism are the most amazing, he does not force that idea on the reader. He simply suggests that Bernini, through his detailed sculptures of flesh, movement, and grace, gives the viewer a better sense of the moment which is being presented. p The next theme of the Baroque which is discussed is referred to by Martin as the passions of the soul. These emotions or in Martin s words, the portrayal of the inner life of man, finally came to life during the Baroque. The Baroque was a time where no emotion lay hidden and all were to be felt by both the artist as well as the spectator. Chiaroscuro was a tool used in many paintings to further the emotional sense in the spectator. Sculpture too, was an emotional ride in the Baroque. One such work is Bernini s The Ecstasy of St. Teresa. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Baraka And Kaufman Question: What can be seen by examining the nexus of marginalized experiences expressed in both Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka s poetry (using critical race theory and queer theory), which centers on homophobia and racism, and produces cultural isolation, alienation/imprisonment, and a devastating psychic loneliness. Question: How does the subject presented in Bob Kaufman and Amiri Barak s poetry polarize a shift in American Culture and thus redefine what it means to be an American. Bob Kaufman and Amiri Baraka as poet activists drew influence from William Blake and Arthur Rimbaud by adopting and building on their poetic techniques of self mythologization and self othering. Correspondingly, [Allen] Ginsberg s and [William] Burroughs s homosexuality is consumed as decontextualized, as if there were no gay culture in which these men participated (or didn t), and as if this status as lonely Other served merely to enhance their glamour for a straight white counterculture. (Damon 141). This completely ignores that fact that in San Francisco where Kaufman lived, and in New York where Baraka lived, the Beat culture lived in close and overlapping proximity with a burgeoning gay male community which had cultural but as yet no political visibility (141). During the Beat Generation, the black man was a source of fear and desire for white men both gay and straight. In this space the Black hipster carried a presumed straightness (144). In her essay Triangulated Desire and Tactical Silences in the Beat Hipscape: Bob Kaufman and Others Maria Damon juxtaposes the poem Bagel Shop Jazz, which is a kind of exposГ© into the Beat poetic scene and Russell Fitzgerald s unpublished diary, which she deems to be the counter text to the aforementioned poem one illuminating the other. Nonetheless, The queer side of Bob Kaufman, such as it was, and of the Beat scene, is dramatically excised from the bagel shop poem which is framed precisely to exclude the formal presence of queers as a group that makes up the counterculture. In Bruno Bettelheim s Life Divined from the Inside Bettelheim states that Fairy Tales intimate that a rewarding, good life is within one s reach despite adversity but only if one does not shy away from the hazardous struggles without which one can never achieve true identity(Bettelheim106). Even though the Birds came and picked up the food, Cinderella s stepmother still said no. Her stepmother s reasoning for not letting her go was that she had no clothes and that could not dance. It s hard not to see how hard Cinderella is trying to lead a good life, although she faces so much adversity. Bettelheim might also agree. As the old saying goes The good guy always wins ; Cinderella ends up going to the prince s ball and is the only girl he dances with all night. For three nights the Prince walked Cinderella home, and she would disappear. However, on the third day the prince caught Cinderella s shoe by putting wax on the steps. He gets the shoe and tries to find her. He goes to Cinderella s house to try to find her, and her step sisters try on the shoe with no avail. Finally, Cinderella tried on the shoe and it was a perfect fit. Now that the Prince had found his princess, they decided to get married. Cinderella and the Prince lived, they ... • 15. The Survival of the Rock Hyrax in Urban Areas RATIONALE Urbanisation poses a threat to wildlife through habitat destruction and population fragmentation. As a consequence, urbanisation alters the distribution of species. Yet, urbanisation creates opportunities for some species to thrive and persist in the urban jungle. Many species have adapted to urban areas across the globe. However, not all animals living in urban areas adapt to urban life and instead might be confined to refugia that match the pre existing adaptation to natural conditions. Therefore, studying the occurrence and persistence of wildlife in urban areas might provide an understanding how some species can survive urbanisation (Chace Walsh 2006; Sih 2013; Sol et al. 2013; FontГєrbel Tarifa 2013). Wildlife can become pests in urban areas. For invasive species, these conflicts arise because they exploit newly available niches. For example, cane toads, Bufo marinus, in Australia, red foxes, Vulpes vulpes, across the globe, and grey squirrels, Sciurus carolinensis, in Britain (Barr et al. 2002; Saunders et al. 2010; Bateman Fleming 2012). However, for indigenous species, these conflicts can arise through habituation to people which could lead to these species being viewed as pests due to their behaviours conflicting with human interests. For example, European badgers, Meles meles, in British residential properties during foraging and sett construction (Ward et al. 2008). My study is concerned with establishing how species can survive in urban ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

George Washington, The World s Greatest Leader Essay George Washington, The World s Greatest Leader On April 30, 1789, George Washington took his oath of office as the first President of the United States. He knew that not only would he be faced with the challenge of leading a young nation with a plethora of problems, but that his every move and decision would be scrutinized and, hopefully, emulated by his successors. As the first of every thing (SP), in our situation will serve to establish a Precedent, he wrote James Madison, it is devoutly wished on my part, that these precedents may be fixed on true principles. (George Washington). Not only was every decision a precedent, as stated in mountvernon.org: in every turn America as a young country was in peril; every decision was layered with implications, competing passions, political pettiness, danger. (Mount Vernon). Why did George Washington emerge as the most significant leader in the founding of the United States of America, even to the extent of being called the Father of the Country? The facts show us that he led the Continental Army to victory in the American Revolutionary Warover what was at the time the world s most powerful military. Later, as president, he guided the United States in its formative years. His leadership and vision established a foundation that would transform America from 13 loosely connected states into an unequalled economic and military superpower. • 17. Difference Between Classical Conditioning And Operant... According to Woolfolk (2005), learning is a process which causes permanent changes in knowledge and behavior through experience. Learning is a key for every child to understand what is going on around them and how should they react to that stimuli. It involves the use of cognitive skills to interpret those signals and analyse them accordingly. Defecation or lesion in cognitive sites may cause mental retardation or learning problems to them, thus, their mental maturity may be lag behind their current age. The consequence is, they maybe little bit clumsy to understand certain orders or command given by his or her parents. Conditioning is a primary step for every child to learn. Confucius and Siddhartha Gautama were both influential guiders whose ideas contrasted and overlapped. They transformed and modified the way certain people live and prospect things. Confucius s train of thoughts were necessary to end the boundless hostility and warfare around him, while the Buddha sought enlightenment and the elimination of suffering. Confucius s ideology included the belief that people behave exceptionally because it s in their spirit to do so. Nation is a social concept with no uncontroversial definition, but which is most commonly used to designate larger groups or collectives of people with common characteristics attributed to them including language, traditions, customs, habits, and ethnicity. A nation, by comparison, is more impersonal, abstract, and overtly political than an ethnic group. It is a cultural political community that has become conscious of its autonomy, unity, and particular interests. According to Ford s National Question: a nation is not a racial or tribal, but a historically constituted community of people; a nation is not a casual or ephemeral conglomeration, but a stable community of people ; a nation is formed only as a result of lengthy and systematic intercourse, as a result of people living together generation after generation ; and, in its entirety: a nation is a historically constituted, stable community of people, formed on the basis of a common language, territory, economic life, and psychological make up manifested in a common culture. The nation has been described by Benedict Anderson as an imagined community and by Paul James as an abstract community . When it comes to oil we are all too aware of the price and demand for what has proven to be the most valued resource on the planet. Advocates of alternate energies insist that the end of oil is nearer than most of us may think, while proponents of petroleum assure us that due to technological advancements there are still large untapped reserves which promise to see us through the next century despite our increasing demand for this black gold. One proponent of alternate energies, James Kunstler, author of The Long Emergency outlines the need for an alternative fuel source, but also explains the pit falls of alternate energy sources. The reason oil is such a valued and highly used commodity is because of its efficiency and wide range of uses compared to other energy sources. The truth is that no matter what proponents of alternate energies say, there is no good substitute at this time for oil which is largely the reason we re still using it. Kunstler explains the pitfalls of hydrogen energy, coal and solar. The hydrogen used in fuel cells is largely derived from natural gas resources, coal is less versatile and solar energy is expensive to produce. Considering the cost of oil at the consumer level it seems common sense that if there was a cheaper, comparably efficient substitute we would be jumping at the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With respect to revenue diversification, local governments have attempted to diversify their sources of revenue by implementing one or a combination of these taxes: sales taxes, income taxes, game of chance taxes (gambling, races, lotter, and their derivatives), user charge taxes, and sumptuary taxes (cigarettes, alcohol, and their derivatives) (Lee, Johnson, and Joyce, 2013). In circumstances that affect the primary source of revenue, having access to other sources may serve as a buffer for the local government. However, the problems with these sorts of taxes is uncertainty. Property tax, as stated earlier is the most reliable while income or sales taxes rely on income/ salaried employees and consumption of products, respectively. 2.Explain the major forecasting methods used by governments to forecast revenues and expenditures. If that wasn t a close enough call, again in 1983, the systems all go bonkers, indicating hundreds of incoming missiles. Then indicating 2 missiles. Then 0. Then 250. Hey, Jim what s your warning count on inbound missiles? 8? Mine says 98. WTH? This time, it was a burned out computer chip that caused the glitch. As was the case in the 79 scare, cooler heads prevailed by checking the raw data from our defense satellites, which showed no missiles. But none of this is nearly as terrifying as when the Soviet systems glitched out. The Soviet ICBM warning system came later than our own and was different in a way they thought would prevent false alarms. We had DTS satellites that scanned the whole planet s surface for launches. The Soviet system focused on just the mainland US s launch sites. Their satellite scanned the edge of earth s atmosphere, where a missile would easily show up against the vast, empty blackness of space. This would reduce natural phenomena being mistaken for launches. Pretty fresh thinking and to keep the planet safe as possible. Except their system was buggier than ours. The effects of doing ethnography on the ethnographer was not considered an important mode of inquiry in the past. (Malinowski, 11) This basically means that it is the role of the ethnographer to rationalize and put in writing the ways of existence of another culture. What he gains from the experience of living with the trobriand islanders is of no concern the people he was writing for. It is my belief that perhaps the reason that the anthropologists of the past have placed so much importance on structuralizing and bringing into written fruition the laws that the natives live by but are not aware of, is to give others the idea that their research and inquiry are purely scientific and by no means reflexive. The reason that they do this is probably to get backing by institutions in order so they may have their travels paid for and so they may be recognized as a scholar by a scholarly reading audience. As time has gone on more and more Anthropologists have talked about how their ethnographic research has effected their thinking. At first they integrated the reflexive nature of their research in a sort of roundabout way. For instance the notion that different cultures and peoples really don t structure their realities all that differently. The engagement is performed to ensure the adult learners will immediately identify with the information and the objective of the teaching. Once the identification and objectivity is formed learning is able to proceed. Therefore, the engagement process for adult learners must be unique and display sensitivity in an effort to achieve learning. Moreover, it is necessary for adults to know their efforts put towards lifelong learning will have meaningful value later. The Three Primary Components Of Metatheory Theory a.Metatheory is a theory about theory and it allows us to understand the philosophy driving our decisions about research methods, designs, and analysis. The three primary components of metatheory are ontology, epistemology, and axiology. Ontology is the study of the nature of reality; ontological scholars have two main stances: realist or nominalist. A realist believes that reality is orderly, fixed, and measureable, while a nominalist believes that reality is subjective. Similar to nominalists are social constructivists, their views of reality are subjective as well. As for epistemology, the study of nature of knowledge; the two opposing stances are objectivist position or subjectivist position. Objectivists believe it is possible to know and explain the world by studying objective reality, as for subjectivists who can only understand the world from the involved individuals; often times leaving bias opinions. Lastly, axiology is the study of values; the values in beauty and aesthetics by judging the good or bad within them. b.Relational Dialectics Theory The ontological assumptions of relational dialectics theory use a nominalist and social constructivist stance because as stated on page 33 of the textbook, Reality is both orderly and chaotic.
