Leadership Assessment
1. Analyze the leadership styles(s) of a senior executive (CEO, CFO, COO, Director, ect.) in your
current or previous organization who made a positive or negative impact on you.
In a previous organization I had a platoon sergeant by the name of Staff Sergeant Hardy. He was a
very strategic leader who had the ability to anticipate, envision, maintain flexibility, think
strategically, and works with others to initiate changes that created a positive future for our platoon
/company (Williams, 2012).
He was terrific at reacting to crises and fixing them. He worked his magic in our first deployment
to Iraq. Sergeant Hardy took over two hundred soldiers to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

3. Evaluate the performance of your selected leader based on his ethical conduct and effective
communication to determine if this leader was successful in motivating and empowering you to
improve on your work performance. Explain you answer.
Sergeant Hardy knew what he valued. He also recognized the importance of ethical behavior. He
exhibited both values and ethics in his leadership style and actions. Sergeant Hardy ethics and
values were very visible because he lived them in his actions every single day. He lived true to
all seven United States Army core values and everyone in his presents followed his lead. As a
leader, Sergeant Hardy chooses the values and the ethics that were most important to him, the
values and ethics he believed in and it defined his character. Living his values was one of the
most powerful tools available to him that helped him lead and influence others in the workplace.
He knew the vital aspect of the workplace is working well with others. That included everyone
from peers to supervisors. He knew not all employees will not always like each other, but knew
they needed to set aside their personal or even work related differences to reach a larger goal. In
many instances, those who are not considered team players could have faced demotion. On the
other hand, those who work well with others often advanced on that aspect alone, in the

The Tragedy Of Medea Is No Different
Throughout many stories we always see the males at a powerful position and the women tend to
be the over bearing crazy type. Whenever something goes wrong we as the audience are always
quick to blame to female or say it s because she having a mental break down. The tragedy of
Medea is no different. We all assume that Medeatook her rage and acted out in an awful way due to
no fault of anyone else. But the truth is that if it wasn t due to Jasons selfishness and betrayal to
Medea, she would have never acted in the manner that she did, and the blame is to fall upon Jason.
The story of Medea starts off with Jason being sent to steal the Golden Fleece from Medea s
homeland. Through his journey Medea helps him recover the fleece by betraying her family and
even having her own brother killed. Medea leaves with Jason and returns to Corinth where they
marry and have two sons. Medea is betrayed by Jason when he leaves her for the Princess of
Corinth, which in return she releases her rage upon Jason and his new fiancГ©.
By breaking down this story we can see all the key points, all starting with Jason, on the progress
to Medea s rage and her ultimate sacrifice of her children. From the beginning we she Medea take
a strong affection to Jason, a handsome stranger that has arrived to gain the Golden Fleece.
Medea makes a deal with Jason to help him get the fleece if he promises to marry her. Jason agrees
and uses Medea s power to get what he wants. Right here is where we first see

Differences Of English Dialects
Key issue 3 Understanding the ways dialect vary. Many people have wondered why, if we are in
one country, why do a lot of people sound different. Each region has its own language by way of
spelling, vocabulary, and pronounciation. This is called dialect. THe sub division of a dialect is
called subdialect. English Dialects Serval hundred years ago, English speakers migrated and settled
in North America which stated the development of dialects of the English language. Because of its
widespread distribution and the large number of speakers, many dialects and subdialects were
formed. Those most responsible for English becoming the most dominant language in the Western
Hemisphere were the earliest colonists. In the 17th century, colonists from England settled along
the Atlantic coast bringing the English language with them. Since it was already a dominant
language, settlers from other countries made significant contributions to the American language
and became acculturated into the English society. During the 18th and 19th century, the American
and England English were isolated by the Atlantic Ocean causing them to evolve independently.
Transmissions over long distances would not be available for another hundred years and very few
residences could visit during this time. The English s from each country differs in three significant
ways; vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation. Because of the discoveries of new objects and

Short Term Memory And Long-Term Memory, And Humanity
Identity and humanity are two integral parts of the make up of a functioning member of society,
in the sense that to be a functioning member of society one can be able to be an individual with
their own self and their own ability to relate to others. That is just a simple abridged definition of
what I plan to explain in full detail in this paper. I will define identity, humanity, what a functioning
member of society really is, how those two aspects play into that, and the how short term memory
and long term memory play the biggest role in our identity and humanity. By looking at the
definitions of short term and long term memory, one can see that the two function is in separate
parts of the brain, so one when is damaged, ideally, the other remains intact. What most observers
don t see is that identity and humanity are so heavily influenced by memory. This is important
because to what degree is the identity and humanity of an individual retained when they lose
their short term or long term memory? I plan to argue that identity is retained more when an
individual suffers from _____ term memory loss and that humanity is retained more when an
individual suffers from _____ term memory loss. Some will argue that there are different
degrees of these different memory losses and that each should be looked at in a case by case
basis. But, I plan to argue that this a more general spectrum and that it doesn t need to be looked
case by case because I m looking at short term and long

Gas Station Research Paper
We ve all experienced this before, and for future drivers it is bound to happen. Before driving home
after a long day at work, you head to the nearest gas station to find the prices at a hefty $3.59 per
gallon. You shrug since the cost last week was a few cents higher, and proceed to fill up your car.
With your gasolinecapacity at its limit, you drive around the corner only to have your jaw drop
when you realize that this gas station s price is thirty cents cheaper than what you just paid for.
Then, talking to the empty seat beside you, you ask, Why do gas stations in the same area charge
different amounts per gallon?
The first economic principle that gas companies have applied is the costs versus benefits principle.

Ronnie is a wonderful man who is full of dreams and inspirations. He currently lives in Harlem,
New York working as a correctional officer and is happily married. While talking to Ronnie I
came to realize that he is a passionate man who would do anything for friends, family and those
who support him in his dreams. While growing up, Ronnie has run into some struggles along the

mom had tried to continue that same aspect until she had become ill. While going to school,
Ronnie had enjoyed doing projects as a team or even on his own whichever made the project

best feeling. His greatest accomplishment was when he wrote his first book; although the money
was nothing to smile about. As Ronnie s mother became sick he had made a promise to himself
that he would always keep a job and have money. There were times when she was ill around
Christmas time that he would feel ashamed because he did not receive presents like his friends as
the funds were tight. Not having the funds never stopped him from dating and treating his
girlfriend to a movie and a nice dinner. He was so responsible that many individuals questioned his
age since he acted so mature and he was only 14 years of age. Although, times were challenging

when going through layoffs or restructuring. Employers who are found guilty by the commission

Value and impact of changes to the $A
Australia s dollar value changes every hour which can have a large impact or small impact on
our economy and the world economy. The dollar Impacts businesses in Australia that play an
important role in the exportation of goods and importation of raw materials Pettinger, T. (2013).
If the Australian dollar was too depreciate it would make exports cheaper and imports into
Australia more expensive. The impact of the depreciation of the Australian dollar matter upon the
elasticity of demand, If firms sell goods that are price inelastic, then the fall in their foreign price
will have a relatively small increase in demand. If exports are price sensitive, then there s a bigger
percentage increase in demand (Pettinger, T. 2013). A possible problem of a depreciation in the
Australian dollar is that it may cause inflation. Firms could then face costs such as greater
uncertainty in inflation does result. Both demand and inflation are major causes in the value and
change of the Australian dollar.

The Pros And Cons Of Counterfeiting
If you have ever traveled to another country, you have probably seen vendors on the sidewalks or
streets, selling designer brand goods at a really cheap price. You may have even purchased
something from them. The fashion industry is a 1.2 trillion dollar global industry and employs 1.9
million people in the United States alone (Maloney, 2015). There is one market that is proving to
be detrimental to this powerhouse industry. The black market of fashion, which produces counterfeit
goods that are being sold at a fraction of the price of the originals.
Whatever the reason a consumer has for purchasing a counterfeit product, that sale will still
influence the global economy. Counterfeiting leads to huge losses for not only the industry, but
also a loss of tax revenue for governments. It is estimated that counterfeiting consists of 5% to 7%
of world trade and produces profits of over 650 billion dollars annually ( Challenges of Selling ,
2008). Not only does counterfeiting steal profits from legitimate retailers, but it also causes loss of
jobs, other, more violent crimes, supports child labor, and puts consumers health at risk (Bell,
2016). Since most illegal counterfeiting operations are run by organized crime rings, no taxes are
paid, and the profits from selling these goods are often used to support other crimes such as drug
and human trafficking, money laundering and even terrorism. Counterfeit sales in the United States
have been directly related to the killing

Nurturing In Shakespeare s Romeo And Juliet
Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare is a tragic love story about feuding families that takes
place in Verona, Italy in the 14th century. The nurse, Juliet s servant, is a very nurturing woman,
and it can be shown in many different parts of the novel. One example is the time she was
talking to Juliet on how she will go find Romeo to comfort her. Another time that shows her as
nurturing is when she was talking to Romeo about how he better mean what he said to Juliet
about marrying her. She can also be described as motherly or affectionate. She acts like more of a
mother to Juliet than her actual mother, which shows how strongly she cares for her. In Act II

Ways to Improve the Malaysian Electoral System
There are numerous ways to improve the Malaysian electoral system both in fairness and
efficiency. Currently, there is a lack in confidence in the validity or neutrality of the Electoral
Commissions (EC). Members of the EC are elected by the Yang di Pertuan Agong (YDPA) after
discussing with the Conference of Rulers (Legal Research Board, 2013). However, according to
Article 40 the YDPA can only act after receiving advice from the Cabinet or a Minister
representing the Cabinet (Legal Research Board, 2013); in most cases it would mean the Prime
Minister. Hence, it may seem that the politically neutral EC were to be pro government. A solution
to this problem would be to amend the Constitution so that the House of Representatives can debate
on the nomination of the EC members, then their decision would be passed on to the YDPA. By
doing so, the EC would comprise of members that have the approval of both the government and
opposition, thus making the committee fairer. Aside from that, the EC should manage its own
budget, and should be reviewed by the Auditor General and not be dissected by the Parliament.
Besides that, there were complaints about the use of indelible ink in the 13th general Election.
Oppositions and clean polls activists reported that the ink could be easily washed off (Election ink

Essay A Holistic Approach to Ambulatory Care
It is apparent that treatment with pharmaceutical drugs is not always the preference of the patient.
In order for the delivery of care to be patient centered, a holistic approach to care needs to be a

with all options available and enable them to take control of their health.
The Journal of Dietary Supplements discusses the increased use of Complimentary and Alternative

The use of technology will enable patients to track important health information. This can be
useful for patients changing primary care providers, meaning the redundant attempts to provide
physician offices with past medical history can be eliminated. A discussion of extensive
implementation of Electronics Health Records (EHR s) to create a service for patients is found
on HealthIT.gov (Health IT, 2014). As of now only a select few organizations include this service
technology and it is called Blue Button. This service allows patients to retrieve all medical records
through the internet rather than having to visit the medical records office at a local facility. With
the inclusion of this service, a broad variety of services including a system wide online patient
portal is a possibility to allow patients the ability to connect mobile health monitoring devices, check
current prescriptions, and review important blood test results (Health IT, 2014). These tools can be
utilized by patients to track and take preventative actions on their health status, but unfortunately
not every healthcare organization offers this to its patients. If the inclusion of this type of service
becomes a standard in care, patients will gain access to their health records and be able to utilize
them through a more convenient effort no matter which provider is seen.
This type of technology will generally lead to improved patient satisfaction as, more control over

This left the Russian people isolated as they had little, if any means of income to buy basic

was taken in aid of these inconveniences. Before the war Moscow had been receiving 2200

made matters worse for the Tsar as the likely hood of the occurrence of revolution was high. The
lack of political reform can accountably be taken in as one of the main reasons for the outbreak
of revolution in 1917. The union of zemstva provided medical facilities for the army; however
the government did not know how to incorporate them into its own war effort. Moreover, the
progressive Bloc called for a government of public confidence in which the ministers would be

How To Collect Replica Coins
If you re looking for a fun hobby to do with your kids, you may want to look into collecting
replica coins. This is an interesting and fun hobby for kids who enjoy history or who identify
with certain periods of time such as the biblical era or the Old West. Here are some things you
may want to know about collecting replica coins. Replica Coins Are Very Close To The
Originals Replica coins are fun to own because they look almost exactly like the real thing. This
whisks you back in time or to a far off place where the coins were originally used. Replicas aren t
exact duplicates because that would be counterfeiting. Also, various coin collecting
organizations have regulations that coin makers tend to comply with that identify a replica
coin. The wording may be slightly different or the coin size may be larger or smaller. This
eliminates confusion over whether the coin is real when it comes to placing a value on it.
However, to the casual collector, the coins appear the same as the original, but they are vastly
less expensive to collect. This makes it affordable to add to your coin collection so your kids can

The Communist Manifesto By Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels
The Communist Manifesto was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels to begin explaining
Communism and its goals. The Manifesto suggests that history acts according to what is called
class struggle. The means of production are what truly defines the class relationships according
to Marx and Engels (Marx 2002). Inevitably, the classes conflict and become hostile, no longer
moving fluidly (Spalding 2000). The Manifesto states that this conflict becomes so severe that it
eventually becomes a revolution and one of the classes becomes the ruler of the other, keeping
one oppressed while the other flourishes. These two classes by name are the bourgeoisie and the
proletariat (Marx ch.2 2002). The bourgeoisie being the highly upper class and the proletariat
being everyone else or the working class . It is important to note that Karl Marxwas a member of the
bourgeoisie himself. He had the ability to recognize the partiality given to the upper class and the
repercussions of this act (Marx 2002).
According to this manifesto, the dynamic between the two has shaped the way society has
industry where its values originate. Before this, it was traditionally so that society was
organized into more complex hierarchies (Spalding 2000). But, as a result of the French
Revolution, feudalism was replaced by this newer sense of class order. Instead of having a variety
of classes such as nobles, artisans, royalty etc., there were now simply two. There was now a
severe demand for more

Use Of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm Essay
Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) nodes create vulnerabilities exposed to malicious software attacks.
Thus, security is necessary to maintain growth in the IoT technology. This paper will focus on the
use of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) as a digital authenticator for use in the
IoT. Although ECDSA improves security, it comes at the cost of computational complexity in
comparison to authentication methods that use ciphers that are symmetric or simple hashes. This
complexity often causes significant limitations in devices applied in the IoT, where resources are
restricted. This paper will mainly focus on speed and memory performances, and will briefly cover
other constraints such as power consumption and size when applicable.
Keywords IoT; ECDSA; security; embedded; systems; low resource
I.INTRODUCTION:
The purpose of digital signature is to provide a means for an entity to bind its identity to a piece of
information. The process of signing entails transforming the message and some secret information
held by the entity into a tag called a signature. Elliptic Curve Digital Signature
Algorithm (ECDSA) is the elliptic curve analogue of the digital signature algorithm (DSA) and its
security is based on the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP). To date, no sub
exponential time algorithm is known to solve the
ECDLP in a properly selected elliptic curve group [1].
This makes Elliptic

Fluoride Essay
Fluoride
Fluoride is a mineral that occurs naturally in almost all foods and water supplies. The fluoride ion
comes from the element fluorine. Fluorine, the 13th most abundant element in the earth s crust, is
never encountered in its free state in nature. It exists only in combination with other elements as a
fluoride compound. Fluoride is effective in preventing and reversing the early signs of tooth decay.
Researchers have shown that there are several ways through which fluoride achieves its decay
preventive effects. It makes the tooth structure stronger, so teeth are more resistant to acid attacks.
Acid is formed when the bacteria in plaque break down sugars and carbohydrates from the diet.

Nearly 145 million Americans are currently receiving the benefits of optimally fluoridated water.
With the 1995 enactment of Assembly
Bill 733 in California, ten states and territories in the United States now mandate fluoridation
through legislation. Besides California, these include seven other states (Connecticut, Georgia,
Illinois, Minnesota, Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota), as well as the District of Columbia and
Puerto Rico. Three states (South Dakota, Rhode Island and Kentucky), as well as the District of
Columbia, have achieved the ultimate success with 100 percent of their treatable community water
systems providing the benefits of fluoridation to their citizens.
While safety has been an issue frequently raised by those opposed to fluoridation, scientific data
from peer reviewed clinical research provide overwhelming evidence that the adjustment of
fluoride levels in drinking water to the optimal level is undoubtedly safe. Hundreds of studies on
fluoride metabolism have tracked the outcomes of ingested fluoride. Ingested fluoride essentially
travels three metabolic pathways. It is either excreted by the kidneys, absorbed by the teeth or
taken up in the skeleton. At optimal levels fluoride has never been demonstrated to cause skeletal
fluorosis or other bone problems. On the contrary, there is mounting evidence that continued

Why did the director of Into the wild choose the songs that he chose? In the song Setting Forth,
Long Night, and Guaranteed these songs all have to do with the journey that Alex or Chris

Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps
My first glimpse at the Yellowstone Youth Conservation Corps occurred through a counselor at my
high school. Upon visiting the program s website, I was amazed at how well the program fit my
career goals and current interests. I am currently very interested in reforestation and the effects of
meat consumption on deforestation and climate change.
Beginning next year, I plan on double majoring in Environmental Science and Biology, and I want a
career in Conservation and/or Biodiversity. YCC is an ideal opportunity because it enables me to
involve myself in activities oriented towards my career. Because I am dually enrolled in my high
school and Western Kentucky University, I have benefitted from many opportunities to discover
my passions and pursue Biology. I am currently involved in Undergraduate Biology Research and
have completed several biology courses ranging from Anatomy and Physiology to Evolutionary
Biology and Biodiversity in Costa Rica. Because of my favorable academic circumstances, I have
had many opportunities in the field of biology, but I have obtained fewer experiences in
Environmental issues. However, I am still passionate about the environment, and especially
lifestyle changes that would reduce detriments to the Earth. ... Show more content on

How Sports Can Help Someone Out Socially
1) Sports have played an important role in my life ever since I was very young. Because of sports,
I am very confident in myself. Although many people believe sports are just to have fun and stay
active, I believe that their influence leaves more behind. I believe that playing sports can help
someone out socially, physically, and mentally. Participating in sports has completely and utterly
transformed me into the person that I am today.
2) I believe playing sports can help many people throughout their long life and also through
many years of school. Trophies, gold medals, and awards are a few reasons why you might play
a sport, but there is something else that you can also gain in trying to achieve your goal. All the
work you put in for a particular sport can set you up for success and also can set you up for
failure, but it can also leave you with something that you will remember for the rest of your life.
3) An event that changed my way of life was the world swimming championship in 2011 in
Shanghai. I was 15 years old when I competed. Participation in this event gave me hope that I
could fulfill my dream, the dream of all athletes, to participate in the Olympic Games. After the
world swimming championship I was more dedicated to my swimming and my school. So far, my
life has gone the way I hoped it would and I have accomplished many of the goals that I have set
out to achieve.

Plate Tectonics Essay
A plate tectonic is defined as a solid rock mass that builds up the Earth s surface. The plate tectonic
theory is a theory that geologists use to help explain the surface processes and events. The word
plate means large pieces of the earth that are always in motion, lithosphere plates. Tectonics means
how the continents formed and move over time. This is the theory that most geologists accept as to
what happened to our continents. It states that Earth is made up of two layers, the lithosphere,
outer, and the inner asthenosphere. Lithosphere is made up different chemicals and uneven rocks.
They are however, very rigid and brittle. The lithosphere is made up of ten major plates. Its major
plates are the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When looking at this, it appears like two cars crashing into each other very slowly. The front
ends fold and bend with the edge of the continental plate folding into a mountain range. You will
also notice that the edge of the oceanic plate has bent down. This makes the rock in both plates
break and slip, causing earthquakes. As the edge of the oceanic plate digs into Earth s hot
interior, some of the rock in it melts. Convergent boundaries are dangerous places to live. Some
insist that with careful planning and preparation, this land is livable. There are also divergent
boundaries where plates seem to come apart. When the lithosphere of Earth is pulled apart, it
tends to break and separate along the boundary. This is a slow process. The block between the
faults cracks and drops down into the asthenosphere. The sinking of the block forms a rift and
liquid rock fills the cracks. New crust is formed along the boundary. Earthquakes occur near the
faults with volcanoes forming where the magma reaches the surface. When a divergent boundary
crosses the land, the rift valleys created are usually between 30 50 km wide. One can see this in the
East Africa rift in Kenya. There third boundary that occurs is the transform boundary. This
boundary is the least spectacular of them. This boundary happens when plates slide past each other.
This means that plates are not tearing each other apart. The sliding motion of them does cause a lot
of earthquakes. Transform boundaries

Capm Apt in Saudi Stock Market Full Text
The Validity of Capital Asset Pricing Model and Factors of Arbitrage Pricing Theory in Saudi
Stock Exchange ABSTRACT The main purpose of this study is to investigate the ability of two
alternative models in finance, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM) and Arbitrage Pricing
Theory (APT), to explain the excess return of a portfolio of stocks in Saudi Stock Exchange
(TADAWUL). The regression analyses were conducted on the portfolio, which consists of 54
listed and actively traded stocks in TADAWUL. Comprising the ex ante sample from the period

Initiated by the economist Stephen Ross in 1976, the APT is a general theory of asset pricing
and has become very important and influential in stock pricing. The APT claims that the
expected return of a financial asset can be modeled as a linear function of various macro
economic factors or theoretical market indices, where sensitivity to changes in each factor is
represented by a factor specific beta coefficient. The model derived rate of return will then be
used to price the asset correctly. In other words, the asset price should equal the expected end of
period price discounted at the rate implied by model. If the price diverges, arbitrage should bring
it back into line. Risky asset returns are said to follow a factor structure if they can be expressed
as: rj = E (rj) + bj1F1 + bj2F2 + ......+ bjnFn + (j where (rj) is the asset s return, E(rj) is the jth asset
s expected return, (bjn) is the sensitivity of the jth asset to factor n, also called factor loading,
(Fn) is a systematic factor (assumed to have mean zero), and ((j) is the risky asset s idiosyncratic
random shock with mean zero. The APT affirms that if asset returns follow a factor structure then
the following relation exists between expected returns and the factor sensitivities: E (rj) = rf +
bj1RP1 + bj2RP2

The Figures Of The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art
The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each
culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In
ancient Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art,
people were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very human and emotional. The way
humans have been depicted through sculpture and the reasons behind these canons have evolved
and changed over time.
The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the paleolithic era. While in
the Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted
through sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these figures were female, with very few
males, and over two hundred have been classified as Venus figurines. These figures were almost
always made with exaggerated breasts, stomach, and hips, which is unlikely to be how women
looked during this time. The proportions were symbolic and not meant to represent a real
woman. This is shown in the piece Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic era sculpture. This figure
is fairly small at only four inches high, and it is unable to stand up on its own (see fig. 1). Like
most sculptures around this time period, it was made to be easily carried as the paleolithic people
were nomadic (Zygmont). Oddly, she has no carving on her face to indicate her facial features,
such as eyes, a nose, or a mouth, while

Police Suicide And Its Effects
Introduction The primary purpose of this term paper is to talk about police suicide and whether or
not it is preventable. While police suicide is an huge issue, the public do not hear much about it nor
have enough information. Therefore, it is important to let the public know that it is an issue by
spreading awareness and creating prevention methods. Important questions that should be asked are
: What is suicide? Why are police officers committing suicide? How many police officers are
committing suicide? Can police suicide be prevented? Have guidelines been created in efforts to
prevent police suicide? How does the suicide of an officer affect other officers?

While conducting their studies, Chae and Boyle found that when multiple factors occurred it
increased the risk of an officer wanting to commit suicide (2013). Some of the multiple factors
mentioned were shift work, critical incidents, stress, and relationship problems (Chae and Boyle,
2013). While officers may have suicide on their minds, most of them do not automatically commit
suicide. According to Nanavaty, some of the officers that have committed suicide have shown
warning signs (2015). Therefore, it is extremely important for the public, family, friends, and co
workers to be able to identify the warning signs so that an officer from committing suicide can be
prevented.
Causes for Police Suicide What affects one person does not necessarily affect another person.
Police officers have different reasons as to why they commit suicide. There are many causes for
committing suicide such as depression, death, retirement, loneliness, stress, relationship
problems, alcohol abuse, burnout and physical pain. Most officers do not commit suicide
because of just one cause in fact, many officers experience more than one cause at once. Take for
example depression, it is a serious illness and because of it officers can lack motivation, not
wanting to live, and have a lot of stress. The officer could have stress because of what they have
been exposed to such as trauma, irregular work hours, problems in the work force, long periods of

According to Richard Weil, Med, CDE, the answer is swelling in the muscle compartment that
result from an influx of white blood cells, which are anti inflammatory, and other nutrients and
fluids that flow to the muscle to repair the damage after a tough workout. The type of muscle
referred to is microscopic and is part of the normal process of growth in the body called
anabolism. It is not the type of damage or injury that you see your doctor about. The swelling
and inflammation can build up for days after a workout, and that is why muscle soreness may be
worse two , three, or three or even four days after a workout for muscles to heal completely
depending on the intensity of the workout. Muscle soreness can be prevented with some measure
taken. Start exercise program slowly and exercise for a short time only. Increase your activity a
little each day until personal goal is reach. Once an individual has experienced delayed muscle
soreness at specific exercise intensity, he or she shouldn t encounter that sensation again until the
intensity level is increased. This is because muscle soreness has been shown to produce a rapid
adaptation response, which means that the muscles adapt to a given exercise intensity level. Unless
the exercise intensity level is changed, soreness will not occur. Base on how much intensity level
as individual increase the recommended approach to preventing delayed muscle soreness are as
follows; gradual progression and conservative increases in

The Role Of Resilience In Adolescents
Children and adolescents are resilient. According to McWhirter, McWhirter, McWhirter, and
McWhirter (2013), resilience is the capacity to adapt and function successfully despite
experiencing chronic stress and adversity (p. 130). Resilience is also the ability to come back
from a negative situation and turn the adversity into something positive (Prince Embury, 2015).
When adolescents are placed in a stressful or difficult situation, they strive to make the best of it;
however, there are some adolescents who struggle to make the best of the situation they are in,
which leads to risky behavior. Family factors tend to influence resiliency as well as protective and

At risk youth are still capable of getting involved with school and community activities. Some
adolescents become involved with art, music, and drama so they can express themselves
artistically. Others get involved with sports because of the family like atmosphere and team
building exercises. Others become involved with local mentoring organizations like Big Brothers,
Big Sisters and church youth groups. All of these activities serve as protective factors for at risk
youth, and help adolescents develop resiliency. According to McWhirter et al (2013), the social
support networks of the larger community also help to ameliorate the effects of stress on children
(p. 131). Adolescents rely on their peers, youth leaders, coaches, and teachers to help them develop
resilience. One of the risks of depending on peers to help develop resilience is peer group
pressure can be either a very powerful ally or a formidable antagonist, dissuading or encouraging
problem behavior (McWhirter et al, 2013, p. 116). As a result, it is imperative for adolescents to
choose their friends wisely, especially if they come from a difficult home background. School and
community environments help adolescents develop the skills they need to overcome their
difficulties (McWhirter et al, 2013, p. 146). Schools and communities also help adolescents develop
resiliency because they provide the support they need to

Reforms in the Economic Espionage Act (EEA) of 1996
There are two important major reforms that the U.S. established, the Economic Espionage Act
(EEA) of 1996 and the Theft of Trade Secrets Act of 2012. The U.S. established the EEA of 1996
to protect companies with industrial espionage, theft of trade secrets, fraud, transfer of custody, and
penalties on offenses(ECONOMIC ESPIONAGE ACT OF 1996). The EEA of 1996 is an act that
makes theft or misappropriation of trade secretsa federal crime (LaMance). Activities that are
punishable under the EEA of 1996 if the person:
steals, or without authorization takes, carries away, or by deception obtains a trade secret without
authorization copies, downloads, uploads, alters, destroys, transmits, or conveys a trade secret,
receives, buys, or possesses a trade secret, knowing that the trade secret has been stolen or
obtained wrongfully attempts to do any of the aforementioned activities , attempts to commit
economic espionage are punishable under the same penalties. The EEA is particularly severe
with people or corporations who steal trade secrets in order to benefit foreign countries or foreign
agents (LaMance). Penalties under the EEA of 1996 if a person is found guilty can be fined up to
$500 thousand and serve 10 years in jail. A company can be fined up to five million but if it serves

U.P. Apartment Act Your Rights and Responsibilities
When an act is passed in the interest of people, do they always get its benefit? One of the notable
stories answering the question is that of the U.P. Apartment Act, 2010. The act was passed during
the BSP Government and was meant to protect the property buyers from the malpractices of the
builders. But the developers, joining hands with the authority, are not complying with the rules
notified by the act.
One of the major case was that of Supertech Limited for violating the rules related to the floor area
ratio. Floor Area Ratio (FAR) is the ratio of a building s total floor area to the total area to the plot

Such cases of fraud with the property buyers and breach of laws come popping up in our country
every now and then. And in this trap, the burden of loss is heaviest on the buyers shoulders. Laws
have been made but what requires more concern is the strict implementation of these rules and
regulation. So it is your responsibility to know your rights and responsibilities.
Builder s Responsibilities:
The act requires the builders to disclose all relevant information to the property buyers. It
mandates them to disclose the original map showing property layout plan as approved by the
authority. The builder has to cite a likely date for the delivery of the project and also the
procedure and penalty in case of delay. Other information that has to be disclosed by the builder to
the buyer include land titles, type of fixtures and appliances used in the building, ownership details
and remedies in case of flaws.
Buyer s Responsibilities:
The U.P. Apartment Act puts pressure on the buyers too. It requires the buyers to pay the
installments on time and imposes penalties in case of its non payment. The buyers are also
required to form an owners association to monitor the regular activities related to the project. The
builder will have to take the consent of all members of the association before modifying the layout
or making other alterations.
Buyers stand to lose a lot when it comes to such breaches. So it is entirely into your hands whether

Death Penalty Is Cruel And Unusual Punishment
The legal executions first started in California when it was under the Practices Act in 1851. Then
in February 14th 1872 it was put in the Penal Code. Capital punish in counties continued until an
amendment by the legislature in 1891 said that it could only happen in the State Prisons picked by
the court. The first state execution in California happens on March 3rd 1893 at San Quentin and
the first one in Folsom was on December 13th 1895. In the 1937 s the legislature decided that
instead of hanging people they were going to use lethal gas. This did not affect the people that were
already sentenced to be hanged and the last hanging was in December 3rd 1937 at Folsom and the
last hanging in Quentin was hold on May 1st 1942. Twenty five years after 1967 because of the
United States Supreme Court choices there were no executions. In 1962 the Supreme Court thought
that death penalty as cruel and unusual punishment. Because of this 107 people had their sentences
changed to something that was not death. In November 1972 nine months after they had this choice
the California electorate amended the state constitution overruled it. Then in 1973 the Supreme
Court decided that the death penalty was unconstitutional. The California legislation was passed in

conditions were kidnapping if the person dies, train wrecking if any person dies, assault by a life

Use Of The Insanity Plea In The American Justice System
Forgiving someone in your heart doesn t mean that you let them loose in Virginia to pursue
whatever dark agendas they may still hold dear, writes Patti Davis, whose father s would be
assassin was deemed legally insane, but was later released from a mental hospital. In the
American justice system, an unjust plea remains an escape for a convicted man to lessen the
punishment he receives and deserves. Consider one young girl who faced up to 65 years in prison
for murdering her classmate, but escaped with only three years in a mental institution. Should she
get off on such a small sentence while most other people would have been behind bars for 65
years? Use of the Insanity Plea in the American justice system should be amended since it has often
resulted in an unjust legal outcome that provides the accused with a convenient technicality to
avoid punishment. In the modern legal system, a jury has two legal ways to define the extent that
the defendant s mind was incapacitated, thus lessening his sentence: Mentally ill or legally insane.
According to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in the case Commonwealth of
Pennsylvania v. DuPont, a defendant who is mentally ill can be legally defined as, one who as a
result of mental disease or defect, lacks substantial capacity either to appreciate the wrongfulness
of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirements of the law, whereas a defendant who

Harris was born on September 9, 1834 in Albany, New York. She was one of the four children of
Senator Ira Harris, his first wife was Louisa Tubbs Harris. Clara s mother died in 1845. At ages 13

At first, Mary Todd Lincoln thought that the blood on the dress was Lincoln s but it was not, it
was Henry s. Clara washed all the blood from her, but not from the dress. She could not get rid of
it or eliminate it and instead, she placed it in the back of her closet, wanting to forget about it. In
1866, the day a year after Abraham Lincoln s assassination, Clara woke up in the night to the
sound of a low laughter from the closet with the dress in it. It turned out to be Abraham Lincoln
s laughter coming from the closet. Clara kept the dress in their summer home in Albany, New
York. This sound was repeated a year later when some guests stayed in the room. So, then Clara
sealed the closet with bricks after believing that she saw Abraham Lincoln s ghost. Then, Clara s
and Henry s older son, Henry Riggs Rathbone, attempt to end of what he felt was a curse on his
family. He broke into the bricked closet and burned the dress into ashes. The residents in the house
then, saw a blood soaked young women sobbing and standing with Abraham Lincoln. In 1910, 45

Britain’s Support for Widening but NOT Deepening the...
Over the last 30 years Britain has consistently supported the enlargement of the European Union
(EU). Both the former Conservative, and the current Labour governments have always presented
favourable rhetoric for the widening of the EU. This apparent consensus on European policy belies
the fractious nature of opinions in Britain over the future of Europe. The rough undercurrents of
Britain s contingent support for the intergovernmental vision of the EU reflects just how complex
and protracted the political discourse on Europe has become. We often refer to Britain as a single
actor, but references to Britain are simply a convenient abbreviation used to represent the dominant
political discourse of the elites, such as the political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the central themes of the EU debate revolves around the issue of national sovereignty. The
European project has always involved, to a certain extent, the relinquishing of some national
sovereignty, but in trying to persuade Europe s established nations to cede powers to a European
centre, often without the consultation of the general public, has created a growing eurosceptic
backlash, a narrative that has been well received in Britain.
Many of Europe s founding fathers (such as Monnet and Schumann) shared a federalist vision for
Europe. They hoped for a European polity which would cooperate for the greater good, above the
national divisions that had caused such calamity in the recent past. Convinced in that a strong
supranational body, with the ability to make executive decisions, was vital for peace and prosperity
that goes beyond what can be achieved with treaties between nations (Ash 2005). The eurosceptics
agree about the value of cooperation in many areas, but see this best achieved through
intergovernmental decision making, with governments from various nations negotiating in their
own country s interest. They are sceptical about a supranational style organisation, often because
they see this as an intrusion into a nation states sovereignty (Ash 2005). British Sovereignty has
always been a touchstone issue and has often made the language of the debate

French and Indian War Provoked the American Revolution Essay
The French and Indian war was the event that provoked the American Revolution. The French and
Indian war or Seven years war, lead to certain events that caused Americans to realize that their
English liberties were being denied. The French and Indian war caused debts among the British.
The British realized that during the war the income from the colonies was insufficient (document
F). After the war, the British needed certain ways in which to gain revenue. They imposed taxes on
the Colonists. These taxes, in turn, caused a stir among Americans. The Stamp Act was a tax
imposed on the colonists without representation (document H). Their liberties as English citizens
were being denied. Radical Whigs would go as far to say it... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Radical Whigs saw this as a conspiracy because the French did not have rule by law or trial juries.
French were Catholic, and Americans saw this as a deal between the corrupt papacy and King
George to return to Catholicism. This caused more unrest in the colonies. There were also many
reluctant revolutionaries. Americans considered themselves English and thought they deserved the
same rights as Englishmen. Governors and Generals did not believe Americans were Englishmen.
They treated the Americans badly. William Pitt s policy of impressments upset many Americans.
He took men off boats and forced them into the army where they were not treated like Englishmen.
He also seized supplies for his men from American citizens. However, Americans did not want to
secede from Britain. Benjamin Franklin, a reluctant revolutionary, believed that Americans should
have English rights but should still be loyal to the Crown (document F). After the French and
Indian war, permanent troops were stationed in America because Britain felt America needed more
protection. Americans were forced to house these troops. Americans felt their liberties as
Englishmen were being undermined. They thought that they should not have to house troops they
did not want there in the first place. Radical Whigs thought it was a conspiracy because once
troops were stationed in the colonies Britain would easily be able to have

Evaluating A Blue Ocean Strategy A Buyer Utility Map
According to Kim and Mauborgne (2005), when formulating a blue ocean strategy a buyer utility
map can help managers obtain the proper perspective of their product or service s utility to its
buyers (p. 121). The utility map can help managers at ExxonMobil understand the value of their
product throughout the buyer experience cycle. The utility levers reflect the many ways that motor
oilcan have a negative or positive impact. In addition, understanding how to increase motor oil s
value can help the company identify the biggest blocks to buyer utility. The greatest blocks to
customer utility often represent the best opportunities to create exceptional value (Kim
Mauborgne, 2005, p. 122). For example, if ExxonMobil can formulate a better, more
environmentally safe blend of motor oil, it will create an exceptional value for the customer
(figure 1.3 below). Currently, there are very few motor oil manufacturers that create
environmentally safe versions. Though the company is one of the world s largest publically
traded oil and gas company, creating such a value will keep them ahead of the competition as well
as creating a larger market share ( 2014 Summary , 2014).
Synopsis on Blocks to Customer Utility Today s customers demand a lot more from the utility of
any product or service they are interested in purchasing. Customers expect quality products and
services, competitive pricing and certain level of control over their transactions and their provider
to engage with them.

Chapter Seventeen Of Exploring Ethics Summary
In Chapter Seventeen of Exploring Ethics, Bernard Mayo discusses representatives of the ideal
and how they give us examples to follow. Mayo uses the example of a Hero or a Saint that
represent this ideal of morality. It s stated that they are people whom we are expected, and expect
ourselves, to imitate . For those who follow the faith of Christianity, Jesus is the perfect example
for this. Christ is written to never have sinned and to have lived his life doing only good deeds. An
entire community of people read the words that are written and take that into consideration and
strive to live a life like his.
Aristotle s ideology of taking into consideration for who you want to be, rather than what you do is
still used in society today. Growing

Student Republican Party Platform Essay
Preamble
The dawn of a new millennium is upon us and we, the Republican Party, are fully prepared to meet
the challenges that await us. This past century, due to the resilience and determination of the
American people, our country has experienced more growth and prosperity than any other nation in
recorded history. However, dark challenges threaten the moral fiber of this great nation. The past
eight years, under Clinton s leadership, the national government has lacked the fortitude to
effectively battle the dangerously extremist trends that have gradually forced their way into the
American culture. In order for America to be the great nation it once was, the Republican Party
must be in power.
The Republican Party has a vision ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
With this reduction we have rekindled the belief in the American dream. Economic prosperity and
sound moral and family values have begun to be reinstated in all arenas of American life.
We believe there should be less government intrusion in the lives of Americans because only the
American people can decide what is best for them. We stand for a rollback of federal government
paternalism and intervention and instead call for an increased roll of the individual and a
revitalization of the American tradition of entrepreneurial innovation. The rise of the Republican
Party to national prominence will allow us to realize these goals and restore America to its former
glory.
Federal Minimum Wage
We the Republican Party support the American workforce knowing that the future of the country
rests on a strong economy. To insure economic prosperity it is imperative that states have the
freedom to act accordingly to its economy. We as Americans, as workers, and as taxpayers should
seek to quiet the anxiety over labor and wages. We cannot be held to a standard that blankets the
whole nation when it is evident that each state is different. States must be allowed to evaluate the
conditions of their economy, unemployment, growth and other relative demographics and then
should have the ability to set the minimum wage.
The Republican Party strongly believes that government

Functions Of A Joint And Articular Cartilage
Osteochondritis Dissecans
Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD), happens when a piece of tissue that covers a joint (articular
cartilage) is separated from the bone. Articular cartilage protects the bones and allows joints to
move smoothly, without pain.
OCD most commonly affects the knee joint, but it can also occur at the ankle, elbow, or other joints
throughout the body. OCD occurs mainly in children and adolescents. Mild cases of OCD tend to
heal over time, especially if a child has this condition. However, severe cases may require surgery
to reattach the articular cartilage to the surrounding bone.
CAUSES
The cause of this condition is not known. Possible causes include:
Injury from repetitive motion or repetitive stress on the joint.
Inadequate blood supply to the joint.
Having certain genes that make developing OCD more likely (genetic predisposition).
RISK FACTORS
The following factors may make you more likely to develop this condition:
Being a child or adolescent. Having bones that are still growing makes OCD more likely to occur.
Participating in sports that put repeated force on the joints, such as distance running.
Being obese.
Having a family history of OCD.
Having posture problems, such as bow legs or knock knees.
SYMPTOMS
In many cases, there are no symptoms of this condition. However, symptoms vary depending on the
severity and location of the condition. Possible symptoms include:
Joint pain

Analysis Of Studs Terkel s Working, By Harvey Pekar
American entrepreneur, Steve Jobs, once said: Your work is going to fill a large part of your life,
and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to
do great work is to love what you do. Some people may take a job out of necessity rather than
being passionate about their work. You have to lovewhat you do as you spend more time working
than being with loved ones. In Studs Terkel s Working, adapted by Harvey Pekar, the reader is
presented with visual adaptations of the lives of ordinary Americans that show how they feel
about what they do for a living ranging from farmers, miners, barbers, box boys, and a hooker are
some of the jobs mentioned in the novels. The author gives the... Show more content on

African Americans In Football
When/Why African Americans Played in the NFL
In the NFL s first fourteen seasons, a grand total of thirteen African Americans got to play
football professionally. In 1920, only two black men played, then nine in 1925, but back down
to two in 1933. To play football professionally, an individual had to attend college where he
would have played football for his school, and once his college career came to an end, he would
either be put onto a team, or start a different career. If an African Americancame from an upper
class family, which was totally possible, and had a passion for football, he would attend college
and play college football until the time of his graduation where we a pro team could pick him up.

Many African Americans did not even have the chance to get a proper high schooleducation either!
African Americans who were too poor to pay for a college education, never got the chance to
play professional football. However, no African Americans played in the NFL from 1934 to
1945 whether they attended college or not. A man by the name of George Preston Marshall is to
blame for that. Marshall was the founder of the Boston Redskins, and was the one who proposed
NFL for separate divisions and a championship game. Marshall also persuaded NFL owners that
by not signing black players, just like what was happening in the MLB, would make the public see
football as a major league sport. Every NFL owner at the time thought Marshall s statement was
correct and continued thinking that way for an additional eleven years! The Redskins however
continued to do so up until 1969 which made them the very last NFL team to sign an African

Shakespeare s Sonnet 71 Mood
To some death is the end, but in the end, it is also the beginning. Shakespeare wrote many Sonnets
about life, death, and love. Shakespeare s 71st Sonnet is one such Sonnet that focuses on these
traits. In Sonnet 71 , Shakespeare wrote of a man passing and his loved ones mourning him. In this
poem, death is not an end, but instead a release, Shakespeare conveys this through emotional tone,
the theme, and strange wording.
Shakespeare s 71st sonnet is short, but it contains an emotional tone..In the first couple of lines,
the mood of the sonnet is one of gloom and impending doom. It is gloomy because it uses words
such as fled, sullen, and warning. In line four the speaker s tone changes from gloomy to angry.

How Did Queen Elizabeth I Impact On English Society
She had the looks that would capture any man s heart. She had the grace. She had the elegances.
But most importantly, she had the unbreakable iron heart of a king. Her white, pale, innocent
face fooled everyone, but it was her actions that gave her the real image of a leader. Queen
Elizabeth I had many revolutionary impact on the English Society. It the way she rebuilt England
up from the ruins left behind by her sister and the fact that she reunited England and finally made
it a nation. She accomplished greatness without a man by her side. Growing up from a childhood
where people came in and out of her life she restricted herself from developing personal

She stood strong even though all her advisors wanted her to marry so she would have an heir to
the throne. She refused, but she was smart enough to use this factor as an advantage with foreign
affairs. Marriage negotiations constituted a key element in Elizabeth s foreign policy. The first
marriage proposal she turned down was from Philip II in 1559, then for many years she lead on
the proposal of King Eric XIV of Sweden.2 Years later she was genuinely consulted to marry
Phillip II s cousin Archduke Charles of Austria. With the weaken relation between England and
Habsburg she then considered marrying two French Valois princes. During all these marriage
proposals from all over the world she did have her heart stolen by a dear friend. Her most certain
love was with her Master of the Horse, Lord Robert Dudley, whom she named the Earl of
Leicester in 1564. During most of his career as Master of the Horse, Lord Dudley lived apart
from his wife and very close to the Queen. Dudley s wife was slowly dying, probably of breast
cancer, but Dudley left his dying wife in their lonely castle by herself. He preferred nearly
constant service to the Queen, despite the fact that his post was a decorative and fairly
unimportant one. Even though she was deeply in love she knows that she needs to put England
before her own needs. Continuing to refuse to marry, her advisors were concerned she would not
have an heir to her throne and a civil war will break when she

Artists Are Culturally Creators
In my opinion, artists are simply creators. Artists create things that are reflections of their
psyche, society at large, or anything that comes to mind. Given that the inspiration for an artist s
work can be so varied and diverse, I think it s hard to say that artists have a social responsibility
given that some artists work don t necessarily convey or reflect the feelings or ideals of the
greater bulk of society. Artistic expression is important and as soon as society begins to police or
restrict the ability of an artist to express his or herself, I think we re moving into dangerous
territory as a culture. With that said, I don t think artists should be held accountable for the work
they produce. Artists should be allowed to completely and

Analyze the leadership styles(s) of a senior executive (CEO, CFO, COO, Director, ect.) in your current or previous organization who made a positive or negative impact on you. In a previous organization I had a platoon sergeant by the name of Staff Sergeant Hardy. He was a very strategic leader who had the ability to anticipate, envision, maintain flexibility, think strategically, and works with others to initiate changes that created a positive future for our platoon /company (Williams, 2012). He was terrific at reacting to crises and fixing them. He worked his magic in our first deployment to Iraq. Sergeant Hardy took over two hundred soldiers to ... Sergeant Hardy ethics and values were very visible because he lived them in his actions every single day. He lived true to all seven United States Army core values and everyone in his presents followed his lead. As a leader, Sergeant Hardy chooses the values and the ethics that were most important to him, the values and ethics he believed in and it defined his character. Living his values was one of the most powerful tools available to him that helped him lead and influence others in the workplace. He knew the vital aspect of the workplace is working well with others. That included everyone from peers to supervisors. He knew not all employees will not always like each other, but knew they needed to set aside their personal or even work related differences to reach a larger goal. In many instances, those who are not considered team players could have faced demotion. On the other hand, those who work well with others often advanced on that aspect alone, in the ... We all assume that Medeatook her rage and acted out in an awful way due to no fault of anyone else. But the truth is that if it wasn t due to Jasons selfishness and betrayal to Medea, she would have never acted in the manner that she did, and the blame is to fall upon Jason. The story of Medea starts off with Jason being sent to steal the Golden Fleece from Medea s homeland. Through his journey Medea helps him recover the fleece by betraying her family and even having her own brother killed. • 5. Differences Of English Dialects Key issue 3 Understanding the ways dialect vary. Many people have wondered why, if we are in one country, why do a lot of people sound different. Each region has its own language by way of spelling, vocabulary, and pronounciation. This is called dialect. THe sub division of a dialect is called subdialect. English Dialects Serval hundred years ago, English speakers migrated and settled in North America which stated the development of dialects of the English language. Because of its widespread distribution and the large number of speakers, many dialects and subdialects were formed. Those most responsible for English becoming the most dominant language in the Western Hemisphere were the earliest colonists. In the 17th century, colonists from England settled along the Atlantic coast bringing the English language with them. Since it was already a dominant language, settlers from other countries made significant contributions to the American language and became acculturated into the English society. During the 18th and 19th century, the American and England English were isolated by the Atlantic Ocean causing them to evolve independently. Transmissions over long distances would not be available for another hundred years and very few residences could visit during this time. The English s from each country differs in three significant ways; vocabulary, spelling, and pronunciation. Because of the discoveries of new objects and experiences of new things, the development of vocabulary ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 7. Short Term Memory And Long-Term Memory, And Humanity Identity and humanity are two integral parts of the make up of a functioning member of society, in the sense that to be a functioning member of society one can be able to be an individual with their own self and their own ability to relate to others. That is just a simple abridged definition of what I plan to explain in full detail in this paper. I will define identity, humanity, what a functioning member of society really is, how those two aspects play into that, and the how short term memory and long term memory play the biggest role in our identity and humanity. By looking at the definitions of short term and long term memory, one can see that the two function is in separate parts of the brain, so one when is damaged, ideally, the other remains intact. What most observers don t see is that identity and humanity are so heavily influenced by memory. This is important because to what degree is the identity and humanity of an individual retained when they lose their short term or long term memory? I plan to argue that identity is retained more when an individual suffers from _____ term memory loss and that humanity is retained more when an individual suffers from _____ term memory loss. Some will argue that there are different degrees of these different memory losses and that each should be looked at in a case by case basis. But, I plan to argue that this a more general spectrum and that it doesn t need to be looked case by case because I m looking at short term and long ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

With your gasolinecapacity at its limit, you drive around the corner only to have your jaw drop when you realize that this gas station s price is thirty cents cheaper than what you just paid for. The Pros And Cons Of Counterfeiting If you have ever traveled to another country, you have probably seen vendors on the sidewalks or streets, selling designer brand goods at a really cheap price. You may have even purchased something from them. The fashion industry is a 1.2 trillion dollar global industry and employs 1.9 million people in the United States alone (Maloney, 2015). There is one market that is proving to be detrimental to this powerhouse industry. The black market of fashion, which produces counterfeit goods that are being sold at a fraction of the price of the originals. Whatever the reason a consumer has for purchasing a counterfeit product, that sale will still influence the global economy. Counterfeiting leads to huge losses for not only the industry, but also a loss of tax revenue for governments. It is estimated that counterfeiting consists of 5% to 7% of world trade and produces profits of over 650 billion dollars annually ( Challenges of Selling , 2008). Not only does counterfeiting steal profits from legitimate retailers, but it also causes loss of jobs, other, more violent crimes, supports child labor, and puts consumers health at risk (Bell, 2016). Since most illegal counterfeiting operations are run by organized crime rings, no taxes are paid, and the profits from selling these goods are often used to support other crimes such as drug and human trafficking, money laundering and even terrorism. • 17. Ways to Improve the Malaysian Electoral System There are numerous ways to improve the Malaysian electoral system both in fairness and efficiency. Currently, there is a lack in confidence in the validity or neutrality of the Electoral Commissions (EC). Members of the EC are elected by the Yang di Pertuan Agong (YDPA) after discussing with the Conference of Rulers (Legal Research Board, 2013). However, according to Article 40 the YDPA can only act after receiving advice from the Cabinet or a Minister representing the Cabinet (Legal Research Board, 2013); in most cases it would mean the Prime Minister. Hence, it may seem that the politically neutral EC were to be pro government. A solution to this problem would be to amend the Constitution so that the House of Representatives can debate on the nomination of the EC members, then their decision would be passed on to the YDPA. By doing so, the EC would comprise of members that have the approval of both the government and opposition, thus making the committee fairer. Aside from that, the EC should manage its own budget, and should be reviewed by the Auditor General and not be dissected by the Parliament. Besides that, there were complaints about the use of indelible ink in the 13th general Election. Oppositions and clean polls activists reported that the ink could be easily washed off (Election ink under scrutiny in Malaysia, 2013). In order for the delivery of care to be patient centered, a holistic approach to care needs to be a standard in ambulatory care. The Journal of Dietary Supplements discusses the increased use of Complimentary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) and how it is becoming a need among physicians to educate and train themselves so that the idea of Integrative Medicine is a realization to the public (Litchy, 2011). The use of technology will enable patients to track important health information. This can be useful for patients changing primary care providers, meaning the redundant attempts to provide physician offices with past medical history can be eliminated. A discussion of extensive implementation of Electronics Health Records (EHR s) to create a service for patients is found on HealthIT.gov (Health IT, 2014). As of now only a select few organizations include this service technology and it is called Blue Button. This service allows patients to retrieve all medical records through the internet rather than having to visit the medical records office at a local facility. With the inclusion of this service, a broad variety of services including a system wide online patient portal is a possibility to allow patients the ability to connect mobile health monitoring devices, check current prescriptions, and review important blood test results (Health IT, 2014). These tools can be utilized by patients to track and take preventative actions on their health status, but unfortunately not every healthcare organization offers this to its patients. The union of zemstva provided medical facilities for the army; however the government did not know how to incorporate them into its own war effort. Moreover, the progressive Bloc called for a government of public confidence in which the ministers would be responsible for the Duma. This is an interesting and fun hobby for kids who enjoy history or who identify with certain periods of time such as the biblical era or the Old West. Here are some things you may want to know about collecting replica coins. Replica Coins Are Very Close To The Originals Replica coins are fun to own because they look almost exactly like the real thing. This whisks you back in time or to a far off place where the coins were originally used. Replicas aren t exact duplicates because that would be counterfeiting. Also, various coin collecting organizations have regulations that coin makers tend to comply with that identify a replica coin. The wording may be slightly different or the coin size may be larger or smaller. This eliminates confusion over whether the coin is real when it comes to placing a value on it. However, to the casual collector, the coins appear the same as the original, but they are vastly less expensive to collect. • 21. The Communist Manifesto By Karl Marx And Friedrich Engels The Communist Manifesto was written by Karl Marx and Friedrich Engels to begin explaining Communism and its goals. The Manifesto suggests that history acts according to what is called class struggle. The means of production are what truly defines the class relationships according to Marx and Engels (Marx 2002). Inevitably, the classes conflict and become hostile, no longer moving fluidly (Spalding 2000). The Manifesto states that this conflict becomes so severe that it eventually becomes a revolution and one of the classes becomes the ruler of the other, keeping one oppressed while the other flourishes. These two classes by name are the bourgeoisie and the proletariat (Marx ch.2 2002). The bourgeoisie being the highly upper class and the proletariat being everyone else or the working class . It is important to note that Karl Marxwas a member of the bourgeoisie himself. He had the ability to recognize the partiality given to the upper class and the repercussions of this act (Marx 2002). According to this manifesto, the dynamic between the two has shaped the way society has industry where its values originate. Before this, it was traditionally so that society was organized into more complex hierarchies (Spalding 2000). But, as a result of the French Revolution, feudalism was replaced by this newer sense of class order. Instead of having a variety of classes such as nobles, artisans, royalty etc., there were now simply two. There was now a severe demand for more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Use Of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm Essay Abstract Internet of Things (IoT) nodes create vulnerabilities exposed to malicious software attacks. Thus, security is necessary to maintain growth in the IoT technology. This paper will focus on the use of Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) as a digital authenticator for use in the IoT. Although ECDSA improves security, it comes at the cost of computational complexity in comparison to authentication methods that use ciphers that are symmetric or simple hashes. This complexity often causes significant limitations in devices applied in the IoT, where resources are restricted. This paper will mainly focus on speed and memory performances, and will briefly cover other constraints such as power consumption and size when applicable. Keywords IoT; ECDSA; security; embedded; systems; low resource I.INTRODUCTION: The purpose of digital signature is to provide a means for an entity to bind its identity to a piece of information. The process of signing entails transforming the message and some secret information held by the entity into a tag called a signature. Elliptic Curve Digital Signature Algorithm (ECDSA) is the elliptic curve analogue of the digital signature algorithm (DSA) and its security is based on the elliptic curve discrete logarithm problem (ECDLP). To date, no sub exponential time algorithm is known to solve the ECDLP in a properly selected elliptic curve group [1]. This makes Elliptic ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Fluorine, the 13th most abundant element in the earth s crust, is never encountered in its free state in nature. It exists only in combination with other elements as a fluoride compound. Fluoride is effective in preventing and reversing the early signs of tooth decay. Researchers have shown that there are several ways through which fluoride achieves its decay preventive effects. It makes the tooth structure stronger, so teeth are more resistant to acid attacks. Acid is formed when the bacteria in plaque break down sugars and carbohydrates from the diet. Three states (South Dakota, Rhode Island and Kentucky), as well as the District of Columbia, have achieved the ultimate success with 100 percent of their treatable community water systems providing the benefits of fluoridation to their citizens. While safety has been an issue frequently raised by those opposed to fluoridation, scientific data from peer reviewed clinical research provide overwhelming evidence that the adjustment of fluoride levels in drinking water to the optimal level is undoubtedly safe. Hundreds of studies on fluoride metabolism have tracked the outcomes of ingested fluoride. Ingested fluoride essentially travels three metabolic pathways. The plate tectonic theory is a theory that geologists use to help explain the surface processes and events. The word plate means large pieces of the earth that are always in motion, lithosphere plates. Tectonics means how the continents formed and move over time. This is the theory that most geologists accept as to what happened to our continents. It states that Earth is made up of two layers, the lithosphere, outer, and the inner asthenosphere. Lithosphere is made up different chemicals and uneven rocks. They are however, very rigid and brittle. The lithosphere is made up of ten major plates. Its major plates are the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When looking at this, it appears like two cars crashing into each other very slowly. The front ends fold and bend with the edge of the continental plate folding into a mountain range. You will also notice that the edge of the oceanic plate has bent down. This makes the rock in both plates break and slip, causing earthquakes. As the edge of the oceanic plate digs into Earth s hot interior, some of the rock in it melts. Convergent boundaries are dangerous places to live. Some insist that with careful planning and preparation, this land is livable. There are also divergent boundaries where plates seem to come apart. When the lithosphere of Earth is pulled apart, it tends to break and separate along the boundary. This is a slow process. The block between the faults cracks and drops down into the asthenosphere. The sinking of the block forms a rift and liquid rock fills the cracks. New crust is formed along the boundary. Earthquakes occur near the faults with volcanoes forming where the magma reaches the surface. When a divergent boundary crosses the land, the rift valleys created are usually between 30 50 km wide. One can see this in the East Africa rift in Kenya. There third boundary that occurs is the transform boundary. This boundary is the least spectacular of them. This boundary happens when plates slide past each other. This means that plates are not tearing each other apart. The sliding motion of them does cause a lot of earthquakes. Transform boundaries ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Initiated by the economist Stephen Ross in 1976, the APT is a general theory of asset pricing and has become very important and influential in stock pricing. The APT claims that the expected return of a financial asset can be modeled as a linear function of various macro economic factors or theoretical market indices, where sensitivity to changes in each factor is represented by a factor specific beta coefficient. The model derived rate of return will then be used to price the asset correctly. In other words, the asset price should equal the expected end of period price discounted at the rate implied by model. If the price diverges, arbitrage should bring it back into line. Risky asset returns are said to follow a factor structure if they can be expressed as: rj = E (rj) + bj1F1 + bj2F2 + ......+ bjnFn + (j where (rj) is the asset s return, E(rj) is the jth asset s expected return, (bjn) is the sensitivity of the jth asset to factor n, also called factor loading, (Fn) is a systematic factor (assumed to have mean zero), and ((j) is the risky asset s idiosyncratic random shock with mean zero. • 30. The Figures Of The Human Figure In Hellenistic Art The human figure is something that artists have portrayed in sculpture for thousands of years. Each culture and time period had different reasons behind the way they chose to depict humans. In ancient Egypt, pharaohs were shown as idealized and emotionless, like gods. Yet in Hellenistic art, people were depicted in dramatic scenes that showed them as very human and emotional. The way humans have been depicted through sculpture and the reasons behind these canons have evolved and changed over time. The earliest examples of the human form in sculpture can be found in the paleolithic era. While in the Paleolithic era humans were rarely depicted in paintings, they were commonly depicted through sculpture in small figurines. The majority of these figures were female, with very few males, and over two hundred have been classified as Venus figurines. These figures were almost always made with exaggerated breasts, stomach, and hips, which is unlikely to be how women looked during this time. The proportions were symbolic and not meant to represent a real woman. This is shown in the piece Venus of Willendorf, a Paleolithic era sculpture. This figure is fairly small at only four inches high, and it is unable to stand up on its own (see fig. 1). Like most sculptures around this time period, it was made to be easily carried as the paleolithic people were nomadic (Zygmont). Apartment Act, 2010. The act was passed during the BSP Government and was meant to protect the property buyers from the malpractices of the builders. But the developers, joining hands with the authority, are not complying with the rules notified by the act. One of the major case was that of Supertech Limited for violating the rules related to the floor area ratio. Floor Area Ratio (FAR) is the ratio of a building s total floor area to the total area to the plot on which it is erected. It is fixed beforehand by the competent authorities. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Such cases of fraud with the property buyers and breach of laws come popping up in our country every now and then. And in this trap, the burden of loss is heaviest on the buyers shoulders. Laws have been made but what requires more concern is the strict implementation of these rules and regulation. So it is your responsibility to know your rights and responsibilities. Builder s Responsibilities: The act requires the builders to disclose all relevant information to the property buyers. It mandates them to disclose the original map showing property layout plan as approved by the authority. The builder has to cite a likely date for the delivery of the project and also the procedure and penalty in case of delay. Other information that has to be disclosed by the builder to the buyer include land titles, type of fixtures and appliances used in the building, ownership details and remedies in case of flaws. Buyer s Responsibilities: The U.P. Apartment Act puts pressure on the buyers too. It requires the buyers to pay the installments on time and imposes penalties in case of its non payment. The buyers are also required to form an owners association to monitor the regular activities related to the project. The builder will have to take the consent of all members of the association before modifying the layout or making other alterations. Buyers stand to lose a lot when it comes to such breaches. • 41. Use Of The Insanity Plea In The American Justice System Forgiving someone in your heart doesn t mean that you let them loose in Virginia to pursue whatever dark agendas they may still hold dear, writes Patti Davis, whose father s would be assassin was deemed legally insane, but was later released from a mental hospital. In the American justice system, an unjust plea remains an escape for a convicted man to lessen the punishment he receives and deserves. Consider one young girl who faced up to 65 years in prison for murdering her classmate, but escaped with only three years in a mental institution. Should she get off on such a small sentence while most other people would have been behind bars for 65 years? Use of the Insanity Plea in the American justice system should be amended since it has often resulted in an unjust legal outcome that provides the accused with a convenient technicality to avoid punishment. In the modern legal system, a jury has two legal ways to define the extent that the defendant s mind was incapacitated, thus lessening his sentence: Mentally ill or legally insane. According to the Commonwealth Court of Pennsylvania in the case Commonwealth of Pennsylvania v. DuPont, a defendant who is mentally ill can be legally defined as, one who as a result of mental disease or defect, lacks substantial capacity either to appreciate the wrongfulness of his conduct or to conform his conduct to the requirements of the law, whereas a defendant who is legally insane can be defined as, at the time of the commission of the ... Both the former Conservative, and the current Labour governments have always presented favourable rhetoric for the widening of the EU. This apparent consensus on European policy belies the fractious nature of opinions in Britain over the future of Europe. The rough undercurrents of Britain s contingent support for the intergovernmental vision of the EU reflects just how complex and protracted the political discourse on Europe has become. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the central themes of the EU debate revolves around the issue of national sovereignty. The European project has always involved, to a certain extent, the relinquishing of some national sovereignty, but in trying to persuade Europe s established nations to cede powers to a European centre, often without the consultation of the general public, has created a growing eurosceptic backlash, a narrative that has been well received in Britain. Many of Europe s founding fathers (such as Monnet and Schumann) shared a federalist vision for Europe. They hoped for a European polity which would cooperate for the greater good, above the national divisions that had caused such calamity in the recent past. Convinced in that a strong supranational body, with the ability to make executive decisions, was vital for peace and prosperity that goes beyond what can be achieved with treaties between nations (Ash 2005). The eurosceptics agree about the value of cooperation in many areas, but see this best achieved through intergovernmental decision making, with governments from various nations negotiating in their own country s interest. Evaluating A Blue Ocean Strategy A Buyer Utility Map According to Kim and Mauborgne (2005), when formulating a blue ocean strategy a buyer utility map can help managers obtain the proper perspective of their product or service s utility to its buyers (p. 121). The utility map can help managers at ExxonMobil understand the value of their product throughout the buyer experience cycle. The utility levers reflect the many ways that motor oilcan have a negative or positive impact. In addition, understanding how to increase motor oil s value can help the company identify the biggest blocks to buyer utility. The greatest blocks to customer utility often represent the best opportunities to create exceptional value (Kim Mauborgne, 2005, p. 122). For example, if ExxonMobil can formulate a better, more environmentally safe blend of motor oil, it will create an exceptional value for the customer (figure 1.3 below). Currently, there are very few motor oil manufacturers that create environmentally safe versions. Though the company is one of the world s largest publically traded oil and gas company, creating such a value will keep them ahead of the competition as well as creating a larger market share ( 2014 Summary , 2014).
