Big Five Personality Model Of A Professional Workplace
Big Five Personality Model A professional workplace is an environment that produces numerous
challenging situations and if not handled correctly, could create a very unproductive organization.
A well qualified employee is selected to be responsible for overseeing many aspects of a
company, including difficult situations that arise between co workers. The term given to this
worker is a manager; their main task in the organization is to help other employees work more
effectively towards their goals. This may sound like a rather simple task, but it is very deep and
layered with different difficulties. Henry Mintzberg, an internationally renowned author on business
and management, broke down the tasks a manager faces into ten different roles. According to
Mintzberg s managerial roles, there are three categories that break up the ten roles a manager
performs: Interpersonal, Informational, and Decisional. Interpersonal encompasses figurehead,
leader, and liaison. Informational includes monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. Finally,
Decisional covers entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. It is clear
that being a manager is a demanding job and that it requires a high level of organizational and
interpersonal skills. There are numerous different research projects that have been performed in
hopes to discover a new way for managers to be more effective and successful in their day to day
activities. A remarkable amount of research supports that

Ambition And Detection In Seth Gordon s Film King Of Kong
Seth Gordon s documentary King of Kong produced in 2007 is a very competitive and tensing
video. It expresses the gamers as very focused individuals and explains the hunger of winning for
them. The director Seth Gordon shows a contrast between ambition and obsession through codes
and convection as well as characteristics. The codes and conventions in the documentary also
play a vital role in portraying different aspects of personalities in different characters. They
change your perspective about certain people or events and make you more aware of what is
going on. Billy Mitchell, one of the players in the documentary, was shown extremely logical and
very professional. In disparity with, Steve Wiebe, another gamer, who was portrayed as a very
hardworking and ambitious man. Having said that, there were other characters in the documentary
which helped shape these two players identity and portrayal. Seth Gordon succeeds in persuading
us to think a particular type of way towards different roles played in the documentary.... Show more

The Director has shown the audience that without gaming, Billy would be nothing but a person
selling sauce. This can be seen as, in every interview he is usually filmed in his restaurant or in
his study. On the other hand, Steve was shown more of a family guy and talented. You can see
these qualities in him as he was filmed in many different places, such as, the playground,
Swimming pool and also in his garage. The director showed Steve s talents through making him
play the drums, the piano and also adding a clip of Steve playing basketball and teaching. By all
this evidence, you can see that the director tried to show Steve as the good guy and portrayed him
as a friendly and gifted

Tragedy And The Modern Man By Arthur Miller Essay
In the reading Tragedy and the Modern Man written by author Arthur Miller, it states, I believe that
the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were. Arthur Miller
describes what the true meaning of a tragic hero is throughout his reading. This quote that Miller
includes shows us that any human being can suffer a tragedyas because we are a human being. To
suffer through a tragedy, no matter how big or small, is what makes you truly a hero and
successful. No matter what your social class may be, whether you are a common man or a king,
when exposed to any circumstances, one can suffer a tragedy. Miller believes that facing a tragedy
is pro rather than a con. Although, to suffer through the pain may be difficult for some, the
experience and knowledge of how to overcome the situation in the future is more powerful than
avoiding the pain.
...the tale always reveals what has been called his tragic flaw, a failing that is not peculiar to
grand or elevated characters. Nor is it necessarily a weakness. Miller mentions this in his reading
as he explains that to have a flaw is not always something bad, but something good and something
you should accept, rather than believing you are someone you truly are not. A great example of this
comes from the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Throughout this novel, the main
character, Okonkwo, is known to be the complete opposite of his father just because he was not
successful like the rest of the

Essay on Overview of the Enron Scandal
Enron Corporation was an energy company founded in Omaha, Nebraska. The corporation chose
Houston, Texas to home its headquarters and staffed about 20,000 people. It was one of the
largest natural gas and electricity providers in the United States, and even the world. In the 1990
s, Enron was widely considered a highly innovative, financially booming company, with shares
trading at about $90 at their highest points. Little did the public know, the success of the company
was a gigantic lie, and possibly the largest example of white collar crime in the history of business.
The roots of the lies start with former EnronCEO Kenneth Lay. This man helped bring together a
number of smaller energy companies, namely InterNorth International and... Show more content on

All these factors lead to figures that were less than what Ken Lay promised, and even started
posting losses by the second quarter of 1997. These less than stellar numbers did not discourage
company executives, and Enron continued to spend foolishly on advertisement and lobbying
for deregulation. All of the prior represents the business side of the downfall of Enron. That
being said, businesses fail all of the time. The reason why Enron Corporation and its executives
will always live in infamy is not because the company failed, but how and why the company
failed. How, exactly, does a company worth about $70 million collapse in less than a month? It
became clear that the company not only had financial problems, but ethical problems that started
from the top of the company and trickled down. A key player in these problems was Jeffrey
Skilling. He was a man brought to the company by Ken Lay himself. Skilling brought his own
accounting concept to the company. It was called mark to market accounting. This concept
allowed Enron to record potential profits the day a deal was signed. This meant that the company
could report whatever they thought profits from the deal were going to be and count the number
towards actual profits, even if no money actually came in. Mark to market accounting granted
Enron the power to report major profits to the public, even if they were little or even negative. It
became a major way

The Effects of Burning Carbon Dioxide Essay
The Effects of Burning Carbon Dioxide
The main waste product of fuel we burn is carbon dioxide, which is thought to have been the
main factor in the gradual rise of global temperatures of the last hundred years. The rise is called
Global Warming . The mechanism used to explain the rise in temperature is the greenhouse effect.
Infrared radiation is trapped by atmospheric gases. Sunlight easily passes these gases on it way
into the earth s atmosphere but on its way out the gases reflect the radiation back towards earth.
Therefore as these gases increases the amount of radiation kept in the atmosphere is increased.
Caron dioxide is one of the main green houses gases. Carbon dioxide is a waste product ... Show

He suggests that rather than cutting carbon dioxide emissions, it would be more cost effective to
reduce the amount of sunlight entering the atmosphere by scattering the sun s rays. Fine metallic
nets deployed in the stratosphere should do the trick according to Mr. Teller. This would help slow
or even stop global warming.
Carbon Monoxide:
Carbon monoxide forms during incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It is extremely hazardous
as things such as gas central heating boilers which are badly maintained can leak the gas causing
carbon monoxide poisoning which would result in death. Carbon monoxide reacts irreversibly with
haemoglobin. In red blood cells haemoglobin normally reacts with oxygen to form
oxyhaemoglobin, which is then transported from our lungs to all our body cells. When carbon
monoxide is breathed in it combines with haemoglobin to form carboxyhaemoglobin where the
oxygen is not released from the haemoglobin therefore causing a lack of oxygen which can result in
death.
The solutions to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning are to give the odorless gas a distinct smell
so that people can smell when there are gas leaks in their appliances. Another solution is to install
carbon monoxide detectors which act in the same way as fire alarms and give off a signal when
they detect carbon monoxide. There are other precautions which can be taken such as maintaining

Color Imagery In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin
The Russian art theorist Wassily Kandinsky once said that Color is a power which directly
influences the soul. In other words, what Kandinsky said means that colors can be used to
evoque very different types of emotions and ideas. Colors always have a deeper meaning than
what they are actually used for, no matter if it is used in art or in literature. The classical
dystopian novel We, which was published in 1924 by Yevgeny Zamyatin, is a great example of a
work of literature that uses colorimagery. The dystopia within this book, United State is set 200
years in the future, in a totalitarian world that has total control over their citizens lives, who are
called numbers. The readers get to know this society through the perspective of D 503,... Show
more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Throughout the whole novel, Zamyatin uses the color yellow to symbolize complexity and
rebellion, which are qualities from the primitive and ancient world, that United State tries to
suppress. One of the main ways Zamyatin uses this color is in connection to I 330, who is the
second main female character that is introduced into the book and D 503 s first love interest.
The first time I 330 s association with yellow appeared in this story is in Record Six, when D
503 visited I 330 for the first time at the Ancient House, the only building in the entire society
that is not made out of glass. In this scene, I 330 went to a room and came out dressed in short,
bright yellowish dress, black hat, black stockings (28). The bright yellow dress described in this
scene is a relic from ancient times, before the Green Wall was built and two hundred year war
occured. Seeing I 330 in this attire definitely made a very big impression on him because it was
the first time ever that D 503 personally interacted with the primitive world. This interaction with
her had such a deep effect on D 503 that he even sees and mentions the color yellow, when I 330
is not around, mostly when he feels he is doing something against the state. I 330 is the only
character that takes on different shades of the color yellow. As portrayed in Record Seventeen,
while D 503 searched for I 330 in the Ancient House, he fell into one of its mystery corridor and
he found himself with the doctor that had previously given him a letter that excused him from
work. While waiting for I 330 he recalled the familiar saffron yellow silk, the smile bite, the eyes
with their curtains drawn (93). This description shows another dress from the ancient world in the
same color as the first, but in a darker shade. The fact that yellow is one of the only color that takes
on different shades means that it is complex, and that there are more dimensions to it.

Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility
Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple?
The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went
further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access;
claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and
100% more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business
outside of the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. So, what is
stopping organisations tapping into this extra productivity, and why are organisations that rely on
legacy applications, such as Mainframe, Unix, IBM i, Pick or even Multi Value systems finding it...

They have previously been physically guarded, so the idea of making them available on an
unregulated mobile device can be especially jarring. It s important to remember though, that
organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest
Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees
are going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers
and be highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you
embrace of shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround.
Is this a barrier too high, or could there be a solution?
What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen,
replica of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app
would work on all devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been
released yet. It would be as secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t
have to develop it at all. It would just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it
is. There is no app that will do all of those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed
for their destined OS; but apps are not a requisite for mobility. They are often lumped together and
assumed the same, but there is an alternative route to mobility that allows you

Case #1 Webb vs. City of Philadelphia

The suit was filed because Webb believed her religious rights were being decimated against.
Webb is a Muslim woman who servers on the Philadelphia Police Department. Webb asked

She was disciplined for failing to comply with Police Department Directive 78 (which basically

Discourses Are Not Mastered By Overt Instruction Essay
There is an abundant amount of communities in the world we live in. Whether they re jobs,
hobbies, or even school. Everything is part of it s own particular community. When associated
with a community, disregarding the type, they all tend to have different discourses. Discourses
according to Gee are ways of being in the world; they are forms of life which integrate words,
acts, values, beliefs, attitudes, and social identities as well as gestures, glances, body positions
and clothes. (Gee 5) He compares it to an identity kit because we act a certain way according to
the particular environment we are in so others can recognize who we are and what we are
addressing. Furthermore, he explains how we acquire discourses. Discourses are not mastered by
overt instruction...but by enculturation into social practices through scaffolded and supported
interaction with people who have already mastered the Discourse. (Gee 7) This is how we acquire
most our home based discourse (Gee 7) We learn what is acceptable and what isn t acceptable by
socializing within the community. Social practice plays a big role when obtaining a Discourse in a
community. When Discourse is broken up, it has various different elements to it. Some of those are
dominant Discourses, non dominant Discourses, mushfaking, and apprenticeship. Dominant
Discourses are secondary discourses the mastery of which, at a particular place and time, brings
with it the acquisition of social goods (money, prestige,

Hurricane Katrin The Second Largest Hurricane
Hurricane Katrina known as the fifth largest hurricane ever to hit the United States formed on
August 23, 2005 and dissipated August 31, 2005. Katrina was classified as a category five
hurricane with wind speeds up to 175 mph. Katrina made headlines because of its destruction
region which was Louisiana. Many families especially African Americans were considered to be
vulnerable and left to die from the disaster. In the following I will address whether Katrina was a
natural disaster ready to happen or if it could have been prevented by an elaborate plan to evacuate
the effected regions.
African American neighborhoods were devastated by Hurricane Katrina because they lived in low
line areas, whereas Whites lived in higher grounds less likely to get hit by the storms. Low income
communities were hit more because of urban areas. These areas included levees that didn t protect
homes from the storms. What is astonishing is that the government was fully aware that New
Orleans levees were failing and wouldn t hold a category five Hurricane. Yet they did nothing to
protect the humans.
Federal and local government hindered and prevented the evacuation of African Americans from
their neighborhoods. Failures included not having an evacuation plan for New Orleans. IEM which
stands for Innovative Emergency Management is compromised by the government to form an
evacuation plan for a natural disaster. In reality there was no plan that IEM had for Hurricane
Katrina. Here we can clearly note

Stereotypes Of Women In Great Expectations
In Manners Makyth Man, Reverand E.J. Hardy said Sweetness is to woman what sugar is to

with a smile on her lips, (Haluk). Women in the Victorian Erawere expected to be everything a man

Joe and Miss. Havisham are terrible representations of a Victorian woman. A woman was
literally the servant of her children and husband, and she was required to be domestic, nurturing
and docile, (Haluk). In Mrs. Joe s home, she is the boss and takes great pride in the fact that she
raised Pip by hand and has threatened to do the same to her husband. This shows that Mrs. Joe is
quite the opposite of what the everyday Victorian woman was like in the home. Instead, Mrs.
Joe is more like some women today where it is not unacceptable for a woman to order around
her children and husband . Miss. Havisham didn t take care of Estella the way most mothers
would have. Or, said Estella, which is a nearer case if you had taught her [Estella], from the
dawn of her intelligence, with your utmost energy and might, that there was such a thing as
daylight, but that it was made to be her enemy and destroyer, and she must always turn against
it, for it had blighted you and would else blight her if you had done this, and then, for a purpose,
had wanted her to take naturally to the daylight and she could not do it, you would have been
disappointed and angry, (Dickens, 326). Instead of nurturing her and teaching her what love feels
like, she showed her what pain was and created a weapon that would kill any man she touched. In
chapter eight of Great Epectations, Miss. Havisham says to Pip, You are not afraid of a woman
who has never seen the sun since you were born, (Dickens, 60).

that buried the village of Tambora could be attributed to the winds. A tsunami of 4 meters hit
Sanggar a short time before 10 p.m., indicating a sudden entry of the pyroclastic flow into the

Pride In Ephesians
Pride
One of the greatest pitfalls among God s prophet is unholy pride. It has leveled not a few of God
s highly anointed servants. God will not share His glory with another. Those who are used by
God must quickly learn that everything that is revealed, prophesied or ministered is from Him and
not from themselves. The prophetic ministry is paralleled to the dead womb of Sarah. There was
no possibility that Sarah could conceive of herself only a resurrection miracle could produce an
Issac. The prophet does not hold the office because of his looks, intelligence, insight, deep hunger
for God, or consecration. The office is given according to grace, election and divine appointment.
These things have nothing to do with the vessel aside of accepting what God has ordained.
God abhors pride because it has its roots in Lucifer s rebellion. Lucifer grew proud because of His
beauty and wisdom, and then sought to exalt himself above the throne of God through rebellion.
The nature of pride, therefore, is rooted in opposition against divine ... Show more content on

Prophets typically flow in the revelation gifts, which can bring about some amazing things. Names,
addresses, homes, employment and family members may be described with great accuracy. Total
strangers may have their troubling issues described in detail companied with a comforting word of
the Lord. I have seen the anointing so powerfully demonstrated that the prophet could blow on the
people and they fall to the ground. At other times, the coat of the prophet thrown at a bystander
could bring them to the ground at the amazement of the audience. What a prophet must guard
against is theatrics of the sake of grandstanding and large offerings. When all that we do is for
attention and not because it is the heart of God, we fall into the pitfall of performance. It is
integrity, not sensationalism, which gives the prophetic ministry

He felt that there was a need to change the day to day operation of the US government from a
corruptive agency spiraling into a web of bureaucratic mess to a more productive governing system
supported by the an administrative base that will be able to enforce public interest and policy. This
scholar and later President wrote that there should be a science of administration which shall seek
to straighten the paths of government, to make its business less unbusinesslike ; to strengthen and
purify its organization, and to crown its duties with dutifulness (Stillman page 8). Apparently,
Woodrow Wilson favored the private sector s interest in businesslike operations and its efficiency
as a way to run the government and its agency. From his 1887 essay, he favored the idea of
concentrating power in a single authority atop a highly integrated centralized administrative
structure (Denhardt page 2).
Principles behind Public Administration
Woodrow Wilson along with scholar Leonard D. White and others believed that this field would
evolve and be interwoven within the fabric of American government, public agencies/programs,
associations, and nonprofit organizations. Public administration is not concerned with politics or
any associated with it however, the field promotes high level public service through management
and properly educating its employees. Main principles/points

Coupe Research Paper
A car similar to the style sedan is the coupe. A coupe is a two door vehicle with a very small
backseat, these cars a typically fast. Most super cars, Lamborghini, Ferrari, McLaren, Porsche,
and a few others, are classifies as coupe. However, not all coupes are fast, they also make them in
smaller size engines for fuel economy. These cars that have the smaller engine from a distance
look the same as the bigger more powerful version of the car. Up close you can tell some small
details such as certain decals, exhaust, or even some aero dynamic features. Coupes are very
lightweight and very aero dynamic. They are known for sometimes having the massive V8 engine.
With the coupes light weight body and massive motor it makes them very quick. Another
lightweight vehicleis the motorcycle, they weight anywhere between five hundred and eleven
hundred pounds. Motorcycles do not have any doors, two or three wheels, and can seat at the
most two. There are many manufactures that produce different types of motorcycle, such as
Harley Davidson, Suzuki, Kawasaki, and Honda. The different types of motorcycle are sport,
cruiser, and chopper is the most common type. A sport bike is really lightweight with a relatively
big engine. Cruisers are mid weight to heavy and are designed to travel longer distances. Choppers
are heavy, loud, and typically have handlebars above the shoulders. These vehicles are also known
for their small gas tanks along with their tremendous gas mileage.

Summary Of Seven Myths Of The Spanish Conquest
For decades, the history of Latin America has been shrouded in a cover of Spanish glory and myth
that misleads and complicates the views of historians everywhere. Myths such as the relationship
between natives and conquistadors, and the individuality of the conquistadors themselves stand as
only a few examples of how this history may have become broken and distorted. However, in Seven
Myths of the Spanish ConquestMatthew Restall goes to great lengths to dispel these myths and
provide a more accurate history of Latin American, in a readable and enjoyable book. Restall s
ultimate goal in writing this book is to provide readers and scholars alike with a more realistic
viewpoint and history of the Spanish conquest. He wishes to dispel the many myths that accompany
the epic tale so as to provide a better understanding of who the natives were and, more importantly
to Restall, who the Spanish were. He does an excellent job of questioning the who, what, and where
of the personalities and motives of the men involved in conquest. These questions are heartily
answered in a well written and easy to read history book. Restall answers his own questions present
in the introduction by focusing each chapter on a different myth. Chapter one discusses that the
men who partook in conquest were valiant, rich, and outstanding. This idea gives credit to both the
Spanish interpretation and the beautifully rugged men cast in Hollywood adaptations. The author
notes, additionally, that the myth

The Effects of Racism in Education Essay example
It is my hypothesis that diverse backgrounds have a great effect on the ability for a student to learn.
I am not suggesting that a student from one background is less likely to learn than the student from
a completely different background. I do predict that if educators do not take to heart the diverse
backgroundsof their students at both the lower and upper levels of education than the student will
suffer in one degree or another.
My focus group will be highschool and college students with an emphasis on those who are in the
junior class of both institutions. I will take a small sample of each student group and the educators
who are responsible for them. I intially planned on studying only highschool students but in my

It was bought against the Topeka, Kansas Board of Education by a father on behalf of his
daughter whom he had tried to enroll in an all white school to prevent her from walking a great
distance. During the ruling, Chief Justice Earl Warren read the courts decision and below is an
excerpt:
We come then to the question presented: Does segregation of children in public schools solely on
the basis of race, even though the physical facilities and other tangible factors may be equal,
deprive the children of the minority group of equal educational opportunities? We believe that it
does...We conclude that in the field of public education the doctrine of separate but equal has no
place. Separate educational facilities are inherently unequal. Therefore, we hold that the plaintiffs
and others similarly situated for whom the actions have been brought are, by reason of the
segregation complained of, deprived of the equal protection of the laws guaranteed by the
Fourteenth Amendment.
This ruling brought about an end to segregation of students. It was no longer constitutional to
separate students because of their race. Although, this was a very great and essential ruling, it only
changed things in the educational system to a certain extent. I say to a certain extent because
although that and other rulings have changed the system on the surface those rulings cannot and
probably have not had an effect on every individual s mindsets. Racism is

What Is Mccandless Idealism In Into The Wild
It has been said that the road to hell is paved with good intentions. Such is the case with
Christopher McCandless, the main protagonist within Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer.
McCandless sets out of a journey to remove himself from his privileged upper class upbringing
by trekking into the Alaskan Wilderness. While McCandless s intentions are to prove to himself
that he can be independent and make his own life outside of his parent s net of privilege, those
intentions are dashed to the ground when he dies of starvation due to his lack of preparations for
his journey. McCandless s isolated himself from his family, and instead connected with random
strangers on his expedition to Alaska, keeping in contact with said strangers instead. Due to his
foolhardiness and childish idealism, McCandless made a journey into the wildthat would be his
last, ripping his selfish presence away from all those who had ever loved him. Christopher
McCandlessis the poster child for a reckless narcissist. This can be supported by facts from my
own life. My stepbrother had a privileged upbringing that could rival that of McCandless. When
he barely graduated high school, my stepbrother was provided college tuition in full to attend
Kennesaw State University, where he would be allowed to live on campus full time, along with
a car that was paid for. He was also provided with monthly gas money, as well as a budget to buy
whatever food and toiletries he could ever possibly need. Similar to McCandless,

How Does Napoleon Use Power In Animal Farm
Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world (Mandela).
Napoleon realizes this truth and takes full advantage of it early on in the story. In George Orwell
s allegorical novel Animal Farm, Napoleon seizes control of the now independent farm. He allows
the pigs to be educated and excludes the others. However, he personally educates some puppies,
foreseeing them as a powerful weapon to gain full authority over the animalsand to reduce distrust
that could lead to revolt. As he continues to rule, he acquires more power and he uses it to violate
and change laws so that they best benefit him and his reign. Napoleon s main focus in ruling

Fortunately for him, he already wields the power of education, enabling him to rise almost
effortlessly to power; With their superior knowledge it was natural that they should assume
leadership (pg. 21). This is a subtle infraction of the principles clearly stated in the commandments
of Animalism. Equality is supposed to apply to everyone and every situation, but the animals are
accustomed to having a leader, therefore, it is second nature for them to rely on a person higher
than them. Sadly for the majority of the naГЇve animals, the pigs ascend to power simply because
the weapon of education is pointing at them and they are found weaponless and unable to defend
themselves. Animalism is turned into an oligarchy, rule by the elite, in this case the pigs are the
elite because they are more educated than the animals. Napoleon not only wants power over the
lowly farm animals, but he seeks absolute control over the entire farm, including the remaining
pigs. To do this, he again takes advantage of the power that lies in education; He said that the
education of the young was more important than anything that could be done for those who were
already grown up (pg. 26). To be a leader, it is vital for

Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside...
Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of
examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge
different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles,
but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were
making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not
seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can
be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and
innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of
the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to
tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all
staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations
2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman, John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I
found to be the most interesting and applicable to current events in health care. They discussed how
the internet and social media affect changes and ways that administration in health care systems
can combat issues that arise online. It also discussed some of the positives of contemporary

She makes it obvious that she has made her final decision to stand by her brother showing an
extremely poor sense of pride. She will stop at nothing to prove her abilities. Her pride takes
over her thinking and clouds her from using good judgment. Antgone s pride is exaggerated to a
point where her arrogance is causing problems. For instance, it is difficult for her to admit to
anything wrong she has done. Along with her close minded nature, it is Antigone s splendid
though perverse valor which creates the drama (Rose 220). Her excessive pride to save her brother
results in chaos for herself as well as those around her.
Love and bravery for her family is a key factor for her determination to give her brother a proper

Have you ever asked yourself what is the main factor behind all of those irritating allergies? At

from a painless skin rash to life threatening reactions causing ones airway to be obstructed. Some

often ignored by the US Department of Labor. Sweatshops are still ongoing due to the ignorance
or lack of care for the people involved in a sweatshop corporation. With the awareness of where the
majority of inexpensive clothing is manufactured, the public and major American companies should
reconsider supporting sweatshops. It is unethical for the American consumer to purchase clothing
from companies who use sweatshops as means to mass produce clothing lines. This is due to the
fact that people have to willingly work in unbearable work conditions, in order to obtain a job
which is essential to survival. Workers are given no leverage for negotiations, and they are forced to
accept the sweatshop lifestyle or suffer through degrading poverty. Acknowledged through multiple
witnesses, work conditions are

Proposed Solutions for the Problems of the Multi-National...
S. A. Chupa Chups is a Multi National Company that has grown internationally since its inception
in 1958. Reasons for successes of this company have been their aggressive approach in developed
and developing nations as well as the partnership they do with existing firms in those nations. The
problems I noticed with their development were their efforts to diversify from core competencies
and their organization structure that was central based and did not highly promote worldwide
learning from experiences.
Problem I:
The first problem I m noticing in this case is the effort being put forward to diversify from their
core competence, making confectionery products. I do understand that it may be economically
sound to diversify into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The solution suggests that Chupa Chups will divest itself of all of its auxiliary businesses that are
not part of its core competence. They should outsource to another company that is able to do it with
less resources.
The second option is for Chupa Chups to continue to diversify as they re doing, but instead of
only providing the services to their confectionery business, to acquire other customers who will
need such services. This way, they will be able to realize efficiencies from economies of scale.
Possible drawback(s):
The drawback of implementing the first solution is that Chupa Chups will be losing control of
pieces of their operations. Although the solution proposes an advantage from where they currently
are, it also has the drawback of placing all of their eggs in the same basket.
The second option has an opportunity cost risk. They have to chance of not being as profitable as
possible for their stake holders because of the diversification.
Mechanism to overcome drawback(s):
Depending on which option Chupa Chups wants to go with, there are several mechanisms to
overcome the drawback. If they select solution 1, I would suggest that when outsourcing this
business, they setup a governance board that will manage the relationship with the vendor. This
board should be aware of situations going on and things are likely to impact the operations.
If they select to go with solution 2, they should seriously consider

Chapter Two Of A Frey
Chapter Two
A Frey in My Side
We tore through the night along dark country roads. Wind slammed against the pickup. Rain lashed
the windshield. I didn t know how my mom could see anything, but she kept her foot on the gas.
Every time there was a flash of lightning, I looked at Baden sitting in the backseat and I wondered
if I d gone insane, or if he was wearing a robe, cone shaped hat, and elf shoes.
All I could think to say was, So, you and my dad . . . know each other?
Baden s eyes flitted to the rearview mirror, though there were no cars behind us. Yeah, sure, he said.
We work together.
Oh . . . so what exactly do you do?
That doesn t matter right now.
Then why
The less you know, the fewer monsters you ll attract, Baden said, like that should be perfectly
obvious. At least that s what it says in the book.
Monsters wait a minute, what do you mean?
The howling rose up again somewhere behind us, closer than before. Whatever was chasing us was
still on our trail.
Aiden, my mom said, there s too much to explain and not enough time. We have to get you to safety.
Safety from what? Who s after me?
Oh, nobody much, Baden said. Just Frey and a few of his minions.
Baden!
Sorry, Mrs. Greene. Could you drive faster, please?
I tried to wrap my mind around what was happening, but I couldn t do it. I knew this wasn t a
dream. My eyes were open.
Mom made a hard right. We turned sharply onto a narrow road, racing past darkened houses and
wooded hills and

Uneducated Black Male Labeling Theory
The Uneducated Black Male; Labeling Theory

If an individual has grown up hearing that they are uneducated, stupid, or worthless, and has had
no one to tell them otherwise, eventually they will believe it is true and identify themselves in
such a way. Unfortunately it is difficult being a Black male growing up in today s society
because they are often perceived as fitting a negative labels or stereotypes, regardless if it is true
or not. In order to prevent Black males from accepting the negative label or stereotype as and
behaving in such a way, I believe it is important for Black males to be exposed to positive role
models and influential people who will reassure Black males that the negative racial stereotypes
and labels they hear are not true. Black males must also be aware of the negative labels and
stereotypes associated with their gender and race, yet learn to ignore them and identify themselves
based on who they truly believed they are, not who other people say they

Donald Trump has suggested that a contest should be held as to which television network covers
him in the most dishonest, corrupt and or/distorted way, as he has again labeled many of the
outlets fake news. It is one of some attacks by the president against the press coverage he receives,
with the most vitriolic coming back in August when he referred the assembled journalists as truly
dishonest and sick people. Mr. Trump also used the term your favorite president, a moniker he has
used recently that is despite his approval ratings telling a different story.
Literature Review The press is basic to vote based system, and popularity based race is
comprehensibly deprived of the press. An open and sensible contest is not only about the prospect
of voting and the culture the way to make a selection, yet around a hands on process where the
electorates participate in the open verbal confrontation and provide adequate information on the

rowing up on the Navajo Nation is an experience, compared to residing in a city. I grew up in
Tuba city with a population of 5,000, no stop light until I was in elementary school, and played
with the neighbor children until dark. Living in a household of fourteen people in a three
bedroom trailer were at times hectic. My siblings were years older, and one of my older sisters

a location to relax. I am grateful to come from a large family.

After working for Hospice of the Valley, I moved back to Tuba City. I was in a relationship for 8
years and one day it was over. This was a time to reflect of who and what I wanted to do with my
life. Being with this individual, I thought I was set for life. Marriage, children, and the whole
house with white picket fence visions. However, this was not the case. I ended up moving in back
with my parents. Imagine that, moving back to my hometown as a thirty year old single woman. I
would envision the movie, hope floats , as my life but without the child and being the hometown

I had rebuilt my life, it seems like what I had to do. The poverty and low employment on the

Her words, her wisdom, her support, and her encouragement got me through the tough times.

Cuban Missile Crisis By Bryce Faber
Cuban Missile Crisis
Bryce Faber The Cuban Missile crisis in October of 1962 was the closest the world has ever come
to nuclear war. Over thirteen October days, the U.S. and the Soviet Union faced off over Nuclear
missile sites found on Cuba 90 miles from the Florida shore. These two world superpowers locked
horns in what became known as the Cold War. The Cuban Missile crisis was the climactic
showdown in which John F. Kennedy and Nikita Krushchev Made decisions that would affect the
fate of all mankind and the wrong one could end the world as we know it. Before the rise of Cuban
communism, the United states had established close economic ties with Cuba since the early 1800 s
when Spanish Controlled Cuba was a leading supplier of sugar cane and a thriving center for trade.
Due to the Spanish American war, there was not much trade going through Cuba, which crushed its
economy. After the Spanish American war, The victorious America entered an amendment in which
it gave itself the right to intervene in Cuban affairs going forward. Many American businesses
invested in Cuba, which eventually made Cuba largely owned by American companies and largely
controlled by the American government. By the 1950 s, Cuba seemed to have the highest standard
of living in Latin America and became a hot destination for tourists. Many people in Cuba did not

Nuclear Power Argumentative Essay
The disastrous meltdowns that cause whole cities to become uninhabitable, as well as leaving
families homeless and laborers without jobs, have defined the negative perspective of what
people see in nuclear power. However, even after such catastrophes, the pure raw energy output
makes nuclear power essential for the future of the human race. As time passes, the world s
energy usage has grown an increasingly massive size every year due to the consumption swell of
energy. Despite nuclear plants being a heavily controversial topic internationally, its advantages are
very well recognized and it s causing nuclear plants to slowly become the basis of our growing

impacts on many things from our environments to our health. Throughout the years there have

Amongst all this, it s making global warming rise at an alarming rate causing organisms like

Summary Of The Ingrate By Paul Laurence Dunbar
The Ingrate
This short story written by Paul Laurence Dunbar, The Ingrate has three main characters, Mr. and
Mrs. Leckler, white farmers who owns a large plantation in the South, and Josh Leckler, their
slave. In this story, Josh is determined to escape to Canada called the land of freedom . Mr. and
Mrs Leckler are clueless about Josh plan to escape from slavery. Mrs. Leckler, taught Josh the three

breaking the law by allowing Josh to be educated. Although, Mr. Leckler breaks the law to teach
Josh, to read, he still use language such as teaching a nigger to cipher! Josh would dream about
the forbidden vision of freedom. After he awaken from his dream, he heard a voice (metaphor) out
of the woods and whispered to him Courage! and on that night the shadows beckoned him as the
white hills had done, and the forest called to him, Follow. Josh envisioned slavery as a deep night.
Mr. Leckler considers himself a noble man and justifies his action to teach Josh to read by saying
that he taught his slave to read because he is a generous man and did not want Josh to be cheated
while conducting his business. Although, he has been cheating Josh out of his wages, he justifies
himself by having his wife teach Josh how to read, write, and count money.
Josh was the plantation plasterer for Mr. Leckler and was good at his job. He did not do chores or

Regulation And Economic Growth Essay
THE IMPACT OF REGULATION ON ECONOMIC GROWTH IN DEVELOPING COUNTRIES:
A CROSS COUNTRY ANALYSIS
1
ABSTRACT
The role of an effective regulatory regime in promoting economic growth and development has
generated considerable interest among researchers and practitioners in recent years. In particular,
building effective regulatory structures in developing countries is not simply an issue of the
technical design of the most appropriate regulatory instruments, it is also concerned with the quality
of supporting regulatory institutions and capacity. This paper explores the role of state regulation
using an econometric model of the impact of regulation on growth. The results based on two

with a descriptive analysis of the data and reports the

LITERATURE REVIEW (a) Regulation Theory
The theory of economic regulation developed from the nineteenth century and the literature is
now vast (for recent reviews, see Laffont and Tirole, 1993, 2000; Levy and Spiller, 1994; Newbery,
1999). The case for economic regulation is premised on the existence of
significant market failure resulting from economies of scale and scope in production, from
information imperfections in market transactions, from the existence of incomplete markets and
externalities, and from resulting income and wealth distribution effects. It has been suggested that
market failures may be more pronounced, and therefore the case for public regulation is stronger, in
developing countries (Stiglitz 1998). More recent theoretical contributions to the regulation
literature have provided a model of regulation for network industries that recognises the

Augustus Caesar Biography
Augustus Caesar (63 BCE 14 CE) was the name of the first and, by all accounts, greatest emperor
of Rome. Augustus was born Gaius Octavius Thurinus on September 23, 63 BCE. He was adopted
by his great uncle Julius Caesar in 44 BCE, and then took the name Gaius Julius Caesar. Originally
called Gaius Octavius, he changed his name to Gaius Julius CaesarOctavian, upon being adopted by
his great uncle. Seventeen years later, the Senate awarded him with the name Augustus, meaning
Revered One. Augustus came from a prosperous family that had long been settled at Velletri,
southeast of Rome. Augustus married three times, although his first union, to Mark Antony s
stepdaughter Clodia Pulchra, was unconsummated. His second wife, Scribonia, who had his
only child, Julia the Elder. He divorced in 39 B.C. to marry Livia Drusilla, who had two sons,
by her first husband. The family tree became more complicated after Augustus had his stepson
Tiberius briefly marry his daughter, and then adopted Tiberius outright as son and successor in
A.D. 4. Augustus Caesar died in A.D. 14, his empire secured and at peace. His reported last
words were twofold: to his subjects he said, I found Rome of clay; I leave it to you of marble,
but to the friends who had stayed with him in his rise to power he added, Have I played the part
well? Then applaud me as I exit. Soon after that acknowledgement of human frailty, the Roman
Senate officially declared their departed emperor, like Julius Caesar before

Compare And Contrast The Devil Wears Prada Book And Movie
The job a million girls would die for: Novel vs. Movie
In 2006, David Frankel made a movie version of The Devil Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger.
The book and the movie are both set in New York and tell the story of a girl named Andy. In both
versions Andy starts working for Miranda Priestly, editor in chief of Runway, a fashion magazine.
Generally the film version of The Devil Wears Prada, what kind of experiences Andy passes
through is similar to what Andy experiences in Weisberger s novel. However, the movie is
different form the book because some characters have a different appeal and image, Andy s love
life might end up positive, and it ends in a different way.
One difference is the appeal and image of the characters. For example, in the book Andy has blond
hair and lives with her boyfriend named Alex Fineman. Later in the story, Alex breaks up with
Andy. In contrast, Andy has brown hair in the movie. Also the boyfriend s name is Nate Cooper,
instead of Alex Fineman. Another difference in characters is... Show more content on

They see each other every week for dinner. Also yellow cabs, nice looking people from New York
are well represented in both versions.
Another similarity, the main storyline, is that Andy gets to work for Runway in which Miranda
Priestly is editor in chief. Andy got accepted due to an interview which was different form all
other girls. Miranda gives it a shot. In both versions Miranda was in the beginning very
dissatisfied about Andy. There is also a similarity in Miranda s way of communication. She refuses
to share elevators with others and dismisses everyone with a cold That s

Sociological Perspectives And Trends Of Health And Illness
M2 Use different sociological perspectives to discuss patterns and trends of health and illness in
two different social groups. D1 Evaluate different sociological explanations for patterns and
trends of health and illness in two different social groups. Introduction In this assignment I will
be writing about two sociological perspectives and discus there patterns and trends of health and
illness to two social groups. The black report was published in 1980, and it included different
facts about how health can be improved from all different backgrounds in different social
groupings. There is still a co relation between social class and infant mortality rates, life
expectancy and inequalities in the use of medical services. This report looked at the differences
between health and illness. Sociologists from this very day still use the black report to look at
inequalities of health because it was that significant and powerful. Different researches do believe
that there is a link between social class and health. It is a statistical impression and also it has
been argued that there isn t really a pattern in social class, age and peoples employment that has
had an impact on people s health inequalities. Statistical artefact is a connection that shows how
different systems have been used and measured. lower class have a much higher morbidity and
mortality rates which are compared with the higher class that only work in offices or as a doctors.

The Proliferation of Technology in Developing Countries
Define globalization 1.0, 2.0, and 3.0 and provide a sample of the type of business data managers
collected during each era.
Thomas Friedman contends that globalization 1.0 shrunk the world from large to medium and
countries and governments were the main protagonists. The governments of countries would
finance explorers like Christopher Columbus to discover new parts of the world to enhance trade
and commerce. The governments financed the explorers through the exports of manufactured
goods and by taxing nobles and their manors. Globalization 1.0 lasted from 1492 until the early
1800 s. This era was the beginning of a global arbitrage. Countries were the dynamic change agents
during this phase of globalization. For example, Spain explored ... Show more content on

According to Friedman, the world is currently experiencing globalization 3.0, which started in the
year 2000. It has shrunk the world from small to tiny, and flattened the global economic playing
field. During this phase of globalization new technologies such as satellite communications, the
personal computer, the internet, the web browser, and cell phones have enabled people to
communicate and share information with other people anywhere in the world instantaneously. This
era has been characterized by individuals globalizing. People like Mark Zuckerburg, a computer
programmer, internet entrepreneur, and co founder of Facebook, have utilized the power of social
media to enable others to interact globally and to achieve financial success. Current managers are
operating in the information age and they are looking for data concerning collaborators,
competitors, and customers. Subsequently, companies that can amass large amounts of relevant
information can become discerning, knowing how to utilize emerging markets to maximize the
return on their investment capital.
Explain Friedman s flat world and the reasons it is important for all businesses, small or large, to

Is America A Melting Pot Essay
Is America melting pot? According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 47% of hate crimes are
racially motivated. In second place, a tie between religion and sexual orientation account for about
19%. Many people face discrimination every day because of religion, where they re from, and
even what they look like, but it should not be this way. The definition of melting potis a place where
different peoples, styles, theories, etc., are mixed together. Using this definition you could say that
some parts of the United statescan be considered a melting pot. Living in the united states we are
promised certain human rights and we should be able to be who we are without fear of being
judged or discriminated against, but for some people that s not the case. At first glance America
may seem like a melting pot because of all the differences between the people here, but after a
closer look you can see that those differences are rarely accepted and people are judged for their
race, religion, and many other things.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

  • 2. Big Five Personality Model Of A Professional Workplace Big Five Personality Model A professional workplace is an environment that produces numerous challenging situations and if not handled correctly, could create a very unproductive organization. A well qualified employee is selected to be responsible for overseeing many aspects of a company, including difficult situations that arise between co workers. The term given to this worker is a manager; their main task in the organization is to help other employees work more effectively towards their goals. This may sound like a rather simple task, but it is very deep and layered with different difficulties. Henry Mintzberg, an internationally renowned author on business and management, broke down the tasks a manager faces into ten different roles. According to Mintzberg s managerial roles, there are three categories that break up the ten roles a manager performs: Interpersonal, Informational, and Decisional. Interpersonal encompasses figurehead, leader, and liaison. Informational includes monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson. Finally, Decisional covers entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator. It is clear that being a manager is a demanding job and that it requires a high level of organizational and interpersonal skills. There are numerous different research projects that have been performed in hopes to discover a new way for managers to be more effective and successful in their day to day activities. • 4. Ambition And Detection In Seth Gordon s Film King Of Kong Seth Gordon s documentary King of Kong produced in 2007 is a very competitive and tensing video. It expresses the gamers as very focused individuals and explains the hunger of winning for them. The director Seth Gordon shows a contrast between ambition and obsession through codes and convection as well as characteristics. The codes and conventions in the documentary also play a vital role in portraying different aspects of personalities in different characters. They change your perspective about certain people or events and make you more aware of what is going on. Billy Mitchell, one of the players in the documentary, was shown extremely logical and very professional. In disparity with, Steve Wiebe, another gamer, who was portrayed as a very hardworking and ambitious man. Having said that, there were other characters in the documentary which helped shape these two players identity and portrayal. You can see these qualities in him as he was filmed in many different places, such as, the playground, Swimming pool and also in his garage. • 5. Tragedy And The Modern Man By Arthur Miller Essay In the reading Tragedy and the Modern Man written by author Arthur Miller, it states, I believe that the common man is as apt a subject for tragedy in its highest sense as kings were. Arthur Miller describes what the true meaning of a tragic hero is throughout his reading. This quote that Miller includes shows us that any human being can suffer a tragedyas because we are a human being. To suffer through a tragedy, no matter how big or small, is what makes you truly a hero and successful. No matter what your social class may be, whether you are a common man or a king, when exposed to any circumstances, one can suffer a tragedy. Miller believes that facing a tragedy is pro rather than a con. Although, to suffer through the pain may be difficult for some, the experience and knowledge of how to overcome the situation in the future is more powerful than avoiding the pain. ...the tale always reveals what has been called his tragic flaw, a failing that is not peculiar to grand or elevated characters. Nor is it necessarily a weakness. Miller mentions this in his reading as he explains that to have a flaw is not always something bad, but something good and something you should accept, rather than believing you are someone you truly are not. A great example of this comes from the novel Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe. Throughout this novel, the main character, Okonkwo, is known to be the complete opposite of his father just because he was not successful like the rest of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Essay on Overview of the Enron Scandal Enron Corporation was an energy company founded in Omaha, Nebraska. The corporation chose Houston, Texas to home its headquarters and staffed about 20,000 people. It was one of the largest natural gas and electricity providers in the United States, and even the world. In the 1990 s, Enron was widely considered a highly innovative, financially booming company, with shares trading at about $90 at their highest points. Little did the public know, the success of the company was a gigantic lie, and possibly the largest example of white collar crime in the history of business. The roots of the lies start with former EnronCEO Kenneth Lay. This man helped bring together a number of smaller energy companies, namely InterNorth International and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All these factors lead to figures that were less than what Ken Lay promised, and even started posting losses by the second quarter of 1997. These less than stellar numbers did not discourage company executives, and Enron continued to spend foolishly on advertisement and lobbying for deregulation. All of the prior represents the business side of the downfall of Enron. That being said, businesses fail all of the time. The reason why Enron Corporation and its executives will always live in infamy is not because the company failed, but how and why the company failed. How, exactly, does a company worth about $70 million collapse in less than a month? It became clear that the company not only had financial problems, but ethical problems that started from the top of the company and trickled down. A key player in these problems was Jeffrey Skilling. He was a man brought to the company by Ken Lay himself. Skilling brought his own accounting concept to the company. It was called mark to market accounting. This concept allowed Enron to record potential profits the day a deal was signed. This meant that the company could report whatever they thought profits from the deal were going to be and count the number towards actual profits, even if no money actually came in. Mark to market accounting granted Enron the power to report major profits to the public, even if they were little or even negative. It became a major way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Effects of Burning Carbon Dioxide Essay The Effects of Burning Carbon Dioxide The main waste product of fuel we burn is carbon dioxide, which is thought to have been the main factor in the gradual rise of global temperatures of the last hundred years. The rise is called Global Warming . The mechanism used to explain the rise in temperature is the greenhouse effect. Infrared radiation is trapped by atmospheric gases. Sunlight easily passes these gases on it way into the earth s atmosphere but on its way out the gases reflect the radiation back towards earth. Therefore as these gases increases the amount of radiation kept in the atmosphere is increased. Caron dioxide is one of the main green houses gases. Carbon dioxide is a waste product ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He suggests that rather than cutting carbon dioxide emissions, it would be more cost effective to reduce the amount of sunlight entering the atmosphere by scattering the sun s rays. Fine metallic nets deployed in the stratosphere should do the trick according to Mr. Teller. This would help slow or even stop global warming. Carbon Monoxide: Carbon monoxide forms during incomplete combustion of hydrocarbons. It is extremely hazardous as things such as gas central heating boilers which are badly maintained can leak the gas causing carbon monoxide poisoning which would result in death. Carbon monoxide reacts irreversibly with haemoglobin. In red blood cells haemoglobin normally reacts with oxygen to form oxyhaemoglobin, which is then transported from our lungs to all our body cells. When carbon monoxide is breathed in it combines with haemoglobin to form carboxyhaemoglobin where the oxygen is not released from the haemoglobin therefore causing a lack of oxygen which can result in death. The solutions to prevent carbon monoxide poisoning are to give the odorless gas a distinct smell so that people can smell when there are gas leaks in their appliances. Another solution is to install carbon monoxide detectors which act in the same way as fire alarms and give off a signal when they detect carbon monoxide. There are other precautions which can be taken such as maintaining your ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Color Imagery In We By Yevgeny Zamyatin The Russian art theorist Wassily Kandinsky once said that Color is a power which directly influences the soul. In other words, what Kandinsky said means that colors can be used to evoque very different types of emotions and ideas. Colors always have a deeper meaning than what they are actually used for, no matter if it is used in art or in literature. The classical dystopian novel We, which was published in 1924 by Yevgeny Zamyatin, is a great example of a work of literature that uses colorimagery. The dystopia within this book, United State is set 200 years in the future, in a totalitarian world that has total control over their citizens lives, who are called numbers. The readers get to know this society through the perspective of D 503,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the whole novel, Zamyatin uses the color yellow to symbolize complexity and rebellion, which are qualities from the primitive and ancient world, that United State tries to suppress. One of the main ways Zamyatin uses this color is in connection to I 330, who is the second main female character that is introduced into the book and D 503 s first love interest. The first time I 330 s association with yellow appeared in this story is in Record Six, when D 503 visited I 330 for the first time at the Ancient House, the only building in the entire society that is not made out of glass. In this scene, I 330 went to a room and came out dressed in short, bright yellowish dress, black hat, black stockings (28). The bright yellow dress described in this scene is a relic from ancient times, before the Green Wall was built and two hundred year war occured. Seeing I 330 in this attire definitely made a very big impression on him because it was the first time ever that D 503 personally interacted with the primitive world. This interaction with her had such a deep effect on D 503 that he even sees and mentions the color yellow, when I 330 is not around, mostly when he feels he is doing something against the state. I 330 is the only character that takes on different shades of the color yellow. As portrayed in Record Seventeen, while D 503 searched for I 330 in the Ancient House, he fell into one of its mystery corridor and he found himself with the doctor that had previously given him a letter that excused him from work. While waiting for I 330 he recalled the familiar saffron yellow silk, the smile bite, the eyes with their curtains drawn (93). This description shows another dress from the ancient world in the same color as the first, but in a darker shade. The fact that yellow is one of the only color that takes on different shades means that it is complex, and that there are more dimensions to it. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 11. Benefits Of Legacy Application Mobility Legacy Application Mobility, is the Answer Surprisingly Simple? The significant benefits of mobility were highlighted in a recent Microsoft paper. The paper went further than most, stating some quantifiable bottom line benefits for mobile application access; claiming that mobility leads to 30% improvement in processes and 23% more productivity and 100% more satisfied employees . This enthusiasm and willingness to drive value for the business outside of the typical work hours, or office location, can no longer be dismissed. It s important to remember though, that organisations who choose not to enable employee mobility are not immune to this risk. The latest Forrester State of Enterprise Mobile Security report, by Chris Sherman points out that employees are going to continue to purchase and use whatever devices and apps they need to serve customers and be highly productive, whether or not these devices are company sanctioned . Whether you embrace of shun mobility, your employees are likely to try and find their own mobile workaround. Is this a barrier too high, or could there be a solution? What there was a mobile app that would spontaneously give users a responsive, touch screen, replica of the on premise applications they use to complete their day to day tasks? The app would work on all devices and operating systems automatically, even those that haven t been released yet. It would be as secure and performant as the in house applications and you wouldn t have to develop it at all. It would just work. That sounds wildly unrealistic and in some ways, it is. There is no app that will do all of those things, apps by their nature are specifically developed for their destined OS; but apps are not a requisite for mobility. Everything is part of it s own particular community. When associated with a community, disregarding the type, they all tend to have different discourses. Discourses according to Gee are ways of being in the world; they are forms of life which integrate words, acts, values, beliefs, attitudes, and social identities as well as gestures, glances, body positions and clothes. (Gee 5) He compares it to an identity kit because we act a certain way according to the particular environment we are in so others can recognize who we are and what we are addressing. Furthermore, he explains how we acquire discourses. Discourses are not mastered by overt instruction...but by enculturation into social practices through scaffolded and supported interaction with people who have already mastered the Discourse. (Gee 7) This is how we acquire most our home based discourse (Gee 7) We learn what is acceptable and what isn t acceptable by socializing within the community. Many families especially African Americans were considered to be vulnerable and left to die from the disaster. In the following I will address whether Katrina was a natural disaster ready to happen or if it could have been prevented by an elaborate plan to evacuate the effected regions. African American neighborhoods were devastated by Hurricane Katrina because they lived in low line areas, whereas Whites lived in higher grounds less likely to get hit by the storms. Low income communities were hit more because of urban areas. These areas included levees that didn t protect homes from the storms. What is astonishing is that the government was fully aware that New Orleans levees were failing and wouldn t hold a category five Hurricane. Yet they did nothing to protect the humans. Federal and local government hindered and prevented the evacuation of African Americans from their neighborhoods. Failures included not having an evacuation plan for New Orleans. The prophetic ministry is paralleled to the dead womb of Sarah. There was no possibility that Sarah could conceive of herself only a resurrection miracle could produce an Issac. The prophet does not hold the office because of his looks, intelligence, insight, deep hunger for God, or consecration. The office is given according to grace, election and divine appointment. These things have nothing to do with the vessel aside of accepting what God has ordained. God abhors pride because it has its roots in Lucifer s rebellion. Summary Of Seven Myths Of The Spanish Conquest For decades, the history of Latin America has been shrouded in a cover of Spanish glory and myth that misleads and complicates the views of historians everywhere. Myths such as the relationship between natives and conquistadors, and the individuality of the conquistadors themselves stand as only a few examples of how this history may have become broken and distorted. However, in Seven Myths of the Spanish ConquestMatthew Restall goes to great lengths to dispel these myths and provide a more accurate history of Latin American, in a readable and enjoyable book. Restall s ultimate goal in writing this book is to provide readers and scholars alike with a more realistic viewpoint and history of the Spanish conquest. He wishes to dispel the many myths that accompany the epic tale so as to provide a better understanding of who the natives were and, more importantly to Restall, who the Spanish were. He does an excellent job of questioning the who, what, and where of the personalities and motives of the men involved in conquest. These questions are heartily answered in a well written and easy to read history book. Restall answers his own questions present in the introduction by focusing each chapter on a different myth. This idea gives credit to both the Spanish interpretation and the beautifully rugged men cast in Hollywood adaptations. The author notes, additionally, that the myth ... Such is the case with Christopher McCandless, the main protagonist within Into the Wild, by Jon Krakauer. McCandless sets out of a journey to remove himself from his privileged upper class upbringing by trekking into the Alaskan Wilderness. While McCandless s intentions are to prove to himself that he can be independent and make his own life outside of his parent s net of privilege, those intentions are dashed to the ground when he dies of starvation due to his lack of preparations for his journey. Due to his foolhardiness and childish idealism, McCandless made a journey into the wildthat would be his last, ripping his selfish presence away from all those who had ever loved him. It was an unfortunate event, but I got over it. I own a clothing line now. Other than that, I haven t done much. I read a book called Animal Farm. It was pretty funny. It kind of reminds me of when I got kicked out of my own farm. It all started out with this pig (Side Note: all the animals can talk) who is a prize winning boar. His name is Old Major. He lived at Manor Farm with the rest of his fellow animal friends. He has a meeting with all the animals discussing a dream he had where all animals live together with no humans to control and abuse them. He also teaches the animals a song called Beasts of England . They sang it all night long.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... They make commandments for all the animals to follow: whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend. Soon enough, the animals get rid of the humans on the farm and have it all to themselves. The three pigs soon become the leaders of the farm. At first, Animal Farm (which they called it, instead of Manor Farm) grew and prospered. Snowball works at teaching the animals how to read. Napoleon also takes a group of young pups to have them learn about Animalism (the commandments). Mr. Jones tries to take back the farm, but fails. Over time, Napoleon and Snowball fight for power as both of them want to rule the farm. Snowball came up with the idea of a electricity generating windmill, but Napoleon rejects the idea. • 31. Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside... Harvard Business Review s Fixing Health Care From Inside Out was a unique collection of examples on how all members of a health system, both clinical and administrative, make a huge different on operations. This compilation not only provided exceptionally informative articles, but also many charts, graphs, and other depictions to back up the points the contributors were making. Many of the remarks in these articles seemed to be simple fixes or strategies that do not seem that hard to implement, but in reality they are so challenging because making changes can be a big deal for any organization. All ten of the articles offered a distinct perspective and innovative ideas that future healthcare leaders such as myself could use moving forward. Some of the key points highlighted were to implement changes on smaller scales first and then go larger, to tackle issues as they come up and not put them off for the future, and also the importance of all staff working together as a team rather than in pursuit of individual goals. Community Relations 2.0 by Gerald C. Kane, Robert G. Fichman, John Gallaugher, and John Glaser was the article that I found to be the most interesting and applicable to current events in health care. They discussed how the internet and social media affect changes and ways that administration in health care systems can combat issues that arise online. It also discussed some of the positives of contemporary technologies and how crucial it is to have a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In Sophocles well known Greek tragedy, Antigone, the main character undergoes immense character development. Antigone transforms from being stubborn and underestimated to courageous and open minded. In reality, it is Antigones insular persistence that leads to her ultimate decline in the play as well as others around her. After the death of her two brothers, Eteocles and Polynices, Creonbecomes the new ruler of Thebes. With this, he grants Eteocles an honorable funeral service for his brave fighting. She makes it obvious that she has made her final decision to stand by her brother showing an extremely poor sense of pride. She will stop at nothing to prove her abilities. Her pride takes over her thinking and clouds her from using good judgment. Antgone s pride is exaggerated to a point where her arrogance is causing problems. For instance, it is difficult for her to admit to anything wrong she has done. Along with her close minded nature, it is Antigone s splendid though perverse valor which creates the drama (Rose 220). Her excessive pride to save her brother results in chaos for herself as well as those around her. Love and bravery for her family is a key factor for her determination to give her brother a proper burial. She shows immense loyalty and will power as she fights for her family name. Her endurance is extraordinary as she declares Naturally! Since Zeus never promulgated such a law, nor will you find that Justice, Mistress of the world below, publishes such laws on humankind. I never thought your mortal edicts had such force they nullified the laws of heaven... (Sophocles 38). Antigone responds to Creon s speech and disagrees with his proclamation denying Polynices a funeral. Unethically made goods are predominantly less expensive than goods made outside of sweatshops. With the increase in investigations, it is apparent major brands such as Nike, Disney, Reebok, the Gap and others are involved in the use of sweatshops. Sweatshops are commonly known for having poor working conditions, unfair wages, unreasonable hours, child labor, and a lack of benefits for workers. In foreign countries, sweatshops have around 168 million children ages 5 to 14 forced into child labor ( 11 Facts ). With the awareness of where the majority of inexpensive clothing is manufactured, the public and major American companies should reconsider supporting sweatshops. It is unethical for the American consumer to purchase clothing from companies who use sweatshops as means to mass produce clothing lines. This is due to the fact that people have to willingly work in unbearable work conditions, in order to obtain a job which is essential to survival. The case for economic regulation is premised on the existence of significant market failure resulting from economies of scale and scope in production, from information imperfections in market transactions, from the existence of incomplete markets and externalities, and from resulting income and wealth distribution effects. It has been suggested that market failures may be more pronounced, and therefore the case for public regulation is stronger, in developing countries (Stiglitz 1998). More recent theoretical contributions to the regulation literature have provided a model of regulation for network industries that recognises the

Augustus was born Gaius Octavius Thurinus on September 23, 63 BCE. He was adopted by his great uncle Julius Caesar in 44 BCE, and then took the name Gaius Julius Caesar. Originally called Gaius Octavius, he changed his name to Gaius Julius CaesarOctavian, upon being adopted by his great uncle. Seventeen years later, the Senate awarded him with the name Augustus, meaning Revered One. Augustus came from a prosperous family that had long been settled at Velletri, southeast of Rome. Augustus married three times, although his first union, to Mark Antony s stepdaughter Clodia Pulchra, was unconsummated. His second wife, Scribonia, who had his only child, Julia the Elder. He divorced in 39 B.C. to marry Livia Drusilla, who had two sons, by her first husband. The family tree became more complicated after Augustus had his stepson Tiberius briefly marry his daughter, and then adopted Tiberius outright as son and successor in A.D. 4.
