force in the 1800s. There were also millions of immigrants added to the workforce.
When that many new workers were added to the labor force, of course it was not
without effect on industrial wages they were driven down.

Born in Flames examines the power of the media and how it influences the
ideology of society by focusing on the ways that it promotes change or hinders it.
The media used by the government in this film portrays women as housewives and
mothers, incapable of doing manual labor, and suggests that men are more capable
than women of holding positions of power. The government endorses the idea that
women are beneath men in the social hierarchy in order to maintain the power of the
white male. This inhibits the constant struggle for change that defines socialism, the
very thing the government in this fictional film claims to be (Born in Flames, 1983).
The film suggests that media has the power to change and reshape ideology about
women just as much as it perpetuates the stereotypes already entrenched in American
society. The film is centered on a group known as the Women s Army. It is a group
comprised of women who seek to eradicate the ever present inequalities between
males and females. They end up going on marches, networking with different radio
shows and meeting together in order to find ways to educate women and the general
public about the hypocritical nature of the government and its role in the social and
economic status of women. In the beginning of the film we see men catcalling
women as they walk down the street, harassing them while riding the subways, and

The Tyger, however, is part of the Songs of Experience collection, which revolves
