Over a five-year period from 1997-2002 in an unspecified country, there were several environmental changes. Greenhouse gas emissions decreased while water pollution reduced slightly. Use of unleaded petrol and liquid natural gas increased significantly over the period. Destruction of coral reefs remained unchanged. The three biggest environmental problems facing Egypt are coral reef destruction from oil pollution and global warming, desertification from soil water evaporation, and air pollution from greenhouse gas emissions. Solutions include restricting oil dumping, irrigation, reducing fossil fuel use, and afforestation.
