Global warming is caused by greenhouse gases that trap heat in the atmosphere. The main greenhouse gases are carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and ozone. Burning fossil fuels, deforestation, farming, waste, mining, and overconsumption all contribute to increasing greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Effects of global warming include more extreme weather, rising sea levels, and negative impacts on human health. To prevent further global warming, alternatives to fossil fuels like renewable energy must be adopted, energy and resource efficiency increased, sustainable transportation and infrastructure developed, and responsible consumption and recycling practices implemented.
