4. Present tense: Means it is happening
regularly. It can also express general truth.
The Present tense of a verb is the base form of
the verb.
Ex. Talk, speak, stand, color
5. Singular Plural
I visit. We visit.
You visit. They visit.
He, she, or it visits.
6. Adding -ing to a verb keeps it in the present
tense.
Walking, talking, speaking, running, etc.
Ex. I am walking to the park.
We are talking to the police.
7. The past tense of a verb names an action that
happened already.
Form past tense verbs by adding –ed to the
base form of the verb.
Ex: talked, licked, laughed
8. Some past tense words are written different
than the base words.
Ex: caught, spoke, wrote, grew
*These are words you need to learn and know!!
9. The future tense of a
verb names and action
that will take place in the
future.
Form the future tense of
a verb by adding the
helping verbs will of
shall to the base form of
the verb.
Ex. Will speak, shall
