Application Note – UPS Power System Design ParametersLeonardo ENERGY
This application note is intended to be a source of guidance and to help reduce confusion pertaining to the design, configuration, selection, sizing, and installation of Uninterruptable Power Supply (UPS) systems. This document is a useful information source for electrical consultants, electrical engineers, facility managers, and design and build contractors.
In the recent past, many design engineers have tried to create the perfect UPS solution for supporting critical loads. However, these designs have generally overlooked coverage for changing load profiles (e.g. leading power factor), sleep mode, and advanced scalability solutions. Such solutions and/or options can assist in gaining higher system efficiency, without exposing the critical load to disruptions from the utility.
This paper presents information related to various generic types of current UPS units, complete with their merits and demerits. It covers different topologies and various system solutions for clients. Auxiliary items, such as the battery bank, diesel generator set, and switchgear are included in the document since they also form an integral part of a UPS system.
To aid in the reduction of the carbon footprint, the paper has indicated achievable operational efficiency figures for different solutions.
A typical generic UPS Specification has been included as an Appendix to this paper to support electrical engineering professionals.
The presentation covers, Dimensions and standards, SI Unit system, Definition of basic units, SI Temperature Scale, Other Unit System, Non SI Units in common Uses, Scientific Notations, Prefixes, Significant figures
Measurement errors, Statistical Analysis, UncertaintyDr Naim R Kidwai
The Presentation covers Measurement Errors and types, Gross error, systematic error, absolute error and relative error, accuracy, precision, resolution and significant figures, Measurement error combination, basics of statistical analysis, uncertainty, Gaussian Curve, Meaning of Ranges
It is very useful for Electrical &Electronics and Electronics and Communication Engineering Students. Here explained the all types of Electrical and Electronics instruments with relevant diagram and Equations
Sentence Connectors are used to link large groups of words: phrases and sentences. You can also use them to connect paragraphs to give them coherence. Sentence connectors are usually placed at the beginning of a sentence.

Memristor is considered as the 4th fundamental circuit element envisioned by famous circuit theorist Leon Chua in 1971.
This mysterious element is the missing link between electric charge and magnetic flux. The device has the peculiar property to remember the history of its past event when the supply is turned off.
Electrical machines or electrical equipment made of magnetic core materials (soft iron, steel) often undergo erratic behaviors during operation due to the saturation of the core as a result of the nonlinearity of circuit parameters of the core. The inrush current of slightly loaded or an unloaded transformer causes saturation of the core during energisation of which the stating current can rise ten times the rating current and even the connection of three phase induction motor in star-delta helps to reduces its starting current to avoid saturation of the lamination core. Core saturation when not controlled can generate heat with high order of harmonics which can lead to lamination breakdown, losses and reducing the life span and the efficiency of the machines. This paper presents the effect of magnetic domains alignment, core inductive reactance, material and core dimensions, current, voltage and frequency of the power supply on the saturation of the magnetic core. It also suggests the possible methods of limiting the saturation of magnetic core

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
This presentation was provided by Steph Pollock of The American Psychological Association’s Journals Program, and Damita Snow, of The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), for the initial session of NISO's 2024 Training Series "DEIA in the Scholarly Landscape." 2. Semiconductor Theory
Q.1 Define semiconductor.
Ans:- The material whose electrical conductivity lies between those of
conductors and insulators and hence negative temperature coefficient
of resistance are known as semiconductors.
Q.2 Write a short note on semiconductor.
Ans:- They are classified as,
There are two types of semiconductor,
1) Intrinsic semiconductor and
2) Extrinsic semiconductor a) P-type and b) N-type
Explanation:-
The material whose electrical conductivity lies between those of
conductors and insulators and hence negative temperature
coefficient of resistance are known as semiconductors.
Semiconductors have low conductivity of order of 10 7 s/m.
They have low resistivity of the order of 10 1 to 10 2 ohm-m.
There is low forbidden energy gap (Eg = 1eV).
Resistance of semiconductor material decreases with increase in
temperature.
They have moderate concentration of free electrons.

At room temperature, they act as a moderate conductor of
electricity.
1) Intrinsic Semiconductor:-
A semiconductor in an extremely pure form is known as
intrinsic semiconductor.
An intrinsic semiconductor also called an undoped
semiconductor or i-type semiconductor.
Intrinsic Semiconductor has a negligible conductivity at room
temperature.
Semiconductor material with larger impurity concentrations
(Example silicon and germanium)
The current which will flow in an intrinsic semiconductor
consists of both electron and hole current.
In intrinsic semiconductors the number of
excited electrons and the number of holes are equal: n = p.
Conduction in Intrinsic Semiconductor:-
Current conduction is takes place by electron and holes.

The free electrons are generated due to the breaking up of some
covalent bonds by thermal energy.
The electron experiences the force towards the positive terminal
of the battery.
The holes experience the force towards the negative terminal of
the battery.
Random motion of electrons and holes occur a net movement
called drift.
This random motion is not contributing to any electric current.
The free electron drifts towards the positive terminal of the
battery and holes towards the negative.
This moment of charge carriers constitute the electric current.
Electron flows from negative to positive terminal of the battery.
Current flows from positive terminal to negative terminal of the
battery.
The total current inside the semiconductor crystal is the sum of
electric currents due to the free electrons and holes.
When the flow of charge carriers is due to an applied voltage the
resultant current is called a drift current.
Diffusion current is also exit by the difference of carrier
concentration from one region to another.
The current which will flow in an intrinsic semiconductor
consists of both electron and hole current.
2) Extrinsic Semiconductor:-

Electrical conductivity have to be increased by adding a certain
amount of desired impurity atoms to intrinsic semiconductor is
called as extrinsic semiconductor.
The process of deliberately adding or diffusing impurity atoms to
the intrinsic semiconductor crystal is called doping.
